It was quiet on the Bridge. With the cadets occupied in finding solutions for various problems and the Instructors supervising the cadets, the Hepta was cruising at warp 8 towards the Kabul system. So far, it seemed a routine flight and Danny wanted to keep it that way.
Monitoring the various ship's systems on his display panel, Danny hummed contentedly. The Chair felt good. The only sounds on the Bridge were the occasional bleep bleep of a console and the soft murmer of the quietly talking Bridge officers.
The noise started softly, barely audible above the regular Bridge noises. It was a soft ringing, which slowly, but surely, became louder, until people stopped talking to see where it was coming from. Commander K'ratak looked up from the Tactical console he was programming and cleared his throat, ready to ask if anyone knew where it was coming from. Danny looked around as well.
Suddenly, in a blinding flash, the noise was over. Just when Danny wanted to shout for a report, he noticed the strange gasps from the crewmembers around him and felt a strange, unfamiliar fabric around his own body. He opened his eyes, blinking them a few times and then it struck him.......
Danny was dressed in long scarlet robes, with a pointy hat on his head. Looking around, he saw that everyone was similarly adorned, in various different colours. The ceiling of the Bridge was gone and the starry night of outer space was showing through the now competely transparent roof. Torches had been lit all around the Bridge and an enormous suit of armour now guarded the Ready Room, humming quite contentedly to itself. Small creatures with tall pointy ears scurried to and fro, carrying trays filled with beverages and other refreshments.
An owl suddenly zoomed through the open turbolift doors and dropped a piece of parchment in Danny's lap. It contained a message about purple and green polka dots that had appeared in the freshly painted Sickbay and was signed "Doctor Barnes". "What the hell......." Danny exclaimed, but was cut off by a soft and mocking voice.
"Temper, temper, mon Capitaine," said a tall man carrying a large staff. He was adorned in the same long robes as the crew, but he carried a certain, mocking air of authority, very much aware of his own powers. Danny had never met him, but instantly knew who he was. Commander K'ratak beat him to it: "Q!"

OOC: I submitted this post before I'd read the captain's, which makes this one slightly redundant. I'll leave it up anyway, but it might be best to ignore it.
B'reca was a little unsteady on her feet when she entered the bridge the next morning, but she fought hard not to let it show. It hadn't occured to her at any point last night to take a break and get some sleep - her father had pulled all-nighters many times before and B'reca was just as resilient as he had been. The important thing was, the Nanites were ready.
"Sir," she saluted the captain and XO, eyes flickering towards the Cadet she saw on the other side of the bridge - Jon Park. She nodded towards him in acknowledgement, hoping that this would be interpreted as a friendly gesture. It hadn't escaped her memory that she'd stood him up last night.
<Tag Park>
Addressing the captain, B'reca explained: "I have been working on the task set to me by Commander K'ratak, and I have come up with a viable option. Alongside the Marines' attempts to track the Admiral physically, I believe that the best way to stay apprised of the Admiral's position is with the aid of the Nanites I have programmed especially for this task."

One hour before Q's pops in
It was the begging of the shift he arrived on the bridge with the captain working out some details. He walked out the turbo lift and head for the lounge to finish some details. He noticed Cadet Park walking into the lounge, it appeared he had alot on his mind. He also noticed his reaction to Klingon's was improving alittle he seemed not so guarded.
Listening to the cadet idea's about the probes, He was one for back ups and it seemed to make sense. " I like your idea cadet but I still want the nanites in jected when they are ready. We have to be sure that if the admiral is separated from his uniform we can still pick up. Have you talked to Colonel Howd about the hand off, the cadet explained some ideas they had gone over. It appeared him that they were all his idea's none of them seemed to have marine thought in it. "
This was something he was going to have to address with cadet later. It seemed the cadet was full of energy and no way to direct it. It was like he needed a complex problem to test himself. " Go ahead and set up your plan Mr. Park but I want to see you and colonel Howd before the landing party leaves to make sure things go well"
A few Min's later Colonel Howd entered the lounge for his morning brief. The colonel didn't seem to have alot to say this worried him alittle " Colonel I have my concerns about the landing party, Cadet park told me of his plans but they made no mention of your ideas. I've asked the cadet to report to me along with you before the landing party departs. I know my cadet is trying to do the best job possible, but I'm concerned that he's trying to do everybody else job along with it. I didn't ask him to take care of the admiral on the surface I asked you and your cadet. I will make this clear to him that he needs to deferrer to you on this matter as well as your cadet. Once that admiral leaves the ship he's yours anything happens is a reflection on you. I will not have your hands tied because cadet Park is so eager to do everything. I admire his skill and his wanting to do a good job but feel he needs to learn to hold back alittle and listen to other parties involved. I will address this with him when I have time. I'll expect you and him in my office by 1500 hours today to finish the details."
Walking out of the lounge to check tactical he noticed cadet Keran talking to the captain about the nanites. It appeared she had figured a way to make the work and ensure they would terminate safely. " Cadet Keran you have our support you will need to get with Doctor Barnes and figure out a way to get them in the admiral with out his knowing it. "
One hour later after morning briefings
As the morning passed things seemed to going well, when he heard a ringing it was soft at first then grew louder. He was at his tactical station with cadet park do a systems check the cadet was doing a good job keeping thins running. The ringing started getting louder when he looked over at cadet park " Try to find the source of that noise when all of a sudden there was a flash.
Everybody was wearing a robe of some bright colors with weird pointing hats. He looked down at the captain who was holding a note that some weird bird and dropped. Then he heard a familiar voice that chilled his bones. " Q" the captain looked at him and then back down at Q.
It had been along time since he had last seen Q but nothing had changed the same smug attitude. Looking around he noticed the crew on edge and cadet park ready to pounce to protect his captain. " Hold your station Cadet Park its not a good idea to mess with the Q, they are quick to react"
Looking back at his captain he was worried for him " Sir I don't know if you have met but this is Q a rather smug and self assured semi God" he knew that would get Q's attention and thats what he wanted. His first job was to protect the captain by trying to force Q's attention on him. " Its been along time Q not long enough in my book "

Q merely looked contemtuous at the XO. "You had better keep your dog on a tighter leash Captain, or maybe I will......."
Danny was momentarily at a loss. Years of Starfleet briefings about the Q had not prepared him for actually meeting one. "Old Jean-Luc never was this speechless and dear Kathryn also had a way with words. Is sending mute captains into outer space Starfleet's latest strategy?" Q enquired mockingly.
Danny found his voice again. "What the hell are you doing on my ship Q?" Danny demanded. "Lo, it speaks, it speaks," Q cackled madly. "And as for this ship, Captain, I have devised a little test for you and your crew. As I understand it, this is the first time out for you as Captain. I want to see if you can cut it."
Danny frowned. "I'm not at all in the mood for your stupid games Q. Leave my ship and leave us alone." With a wild roar of laughter, Q greeted these words. "Oh Captain, my Captain, I will leave you alone, although you just might wish I had never left....."
With that, Q snapped his fingers and with a blinding flash, he disappeared. Opening his eyes, Danny noticed his regular uniform was back and he was just about to smile contentedly, when the Operations officer destroyed his hopes of a normal return to the mission at hand. "Captain, we're off course." Looking at the Helm's officer, Danny got the confirmation immediately. "How far off course?", Commander K'ratak cut in. The Operations officer made some calculations and then turned around again, slowly. "Sir, I don't know quite how to tell you this, but we're in Sector 001, the Sol system." Danny was about to swear loudly, because it would take them at least a week to get back to their original position, but the Operations officer continued: "And sir, we seem to have been transported some 55 years into the future."

Science cadet McLeod hadn't gotten alot of sleep between going over her briefing and excitement of her first bridge duty. Tired of tossing and turning she'd pulled herself out of bed and showered.
Wet hair a massive tangle Ainsleigh French braided it giving her a sharp, clean look. Pulling out a new uniform and checking that the insignia was correctly placed and donning it, she took a last look in the mirror. Satisfied, the cadet grabbed her PADD where she'd transferred her information on the Kabul system and headed for the bridge.
Arriving early the Lt on duty smiled, "First bridge duty?"
A soft laugh, "It shows," McLeod responded.
"No problem," as he vacated the seat. As she sat down he stood and with great patience explained what had gone on during his shift and showed her how to transfer info to the next person coming on.
She had butterflies as he smiled and touched her shoulder, "Don't worry, you'll be fine." With that he departed leaving her 'on duty' at the science station.
Surreptitiously Ainsleigh looked around at the other bridge personnel. It wasn't long before the all station had had their crew changes for the morning shift.
Soon a soft hum grew until she covered her ears. Next she was sitting in a sapphire blue gown trimmed in gold. If it wasn't for the situation, it would have been beautiful.
At Commander K'ratek's utterance of "Q", her handed slipped to the dirk she always carried in her boot. She held her position waiting for the Captain's orders.

Cadet keran nodded toward him in acknowledgment, hoping that this would be interpreted as a friendly gesture. It hadn't escaped her memory that she'd stood him up last night.
Seeing the nodded park also responded in-kind knowing the commander gave he a task and she must have lost track of time making a note in his mind to talk to her later.
As cadet park spoke with Commander K'ratak he wasn't sure if it was his place to tell him about how he felt with about how the marine instructor was performing yet something told him the commander already knew. As Cadet park was on the bridge later that day he heard a soft ringing as it got louder Commander K'ratak saw asking him to find the noise. In a bright flash Q appeared down in the command area.
Gripping the phaser the was under the tactical station park was ready to defend his captain Hold your station Cadet Park he heard the commander order. As park waited for his orders He heard the captain and Q argue. as Q disappeared in a bright flash park thought the worst was over.
As the tactical board beep at him Park heard the Operations officer report that not only were they back in the sol system but 55 years in the future.
Why 55 years Park thought Q never does anything unless it has a reason looking down at the comm board Park looks Says" Captain we are being hailed by starfleet." Looking at something else Park wasn't happy. Hitting the Shields and weapons "Red Alert"Park says realizing that what he was reading was a cloaked ship of romulan signature. Looking at Commander K'ratak park said "phasers and photons armed and ready." Looking at the captain "Waiting on your orders Sir." As the captain told park to answer the hail from starfleet an admiral that park was all to familiar with appeared on screen. Q was on screen portraying a admiral. as the captain and Q had a conversation park scanned the space around earth Weird Park thought no starships in scanning range expanding the range park saw no ships in the sol system.
Showing Commander K'ratak the scan results he was worried did Q bring them here to show them starfleet no longer exists in the future. No thats not Q's style from what Q has read from the logs of Captain Picard and Janeway. He likes to play with humanity.
Waiting for his next orders Park felt it would be safer to remain at red alert until we know no Romulains are hiding just in attack range.

As swiftly as Q had come, he was gone. Then all hades broke loose on her console. Quickly diverting her attention from the forest scene on the bridge to the reading her station was spitting out.
The chronometer showed that they had time traveled. It made her doubt all the readings she was receiving. Q was capable of transporting them to 2448, but also of making them believe they were in the future.
Ainsleigh extended the long range scans to their maximum. It appeared that they were in synchronous orbit above Earth. She was curious what the communications officer was picking up. Peripherally she could tell something was very wrong there.
No Starfleet vessels were reading in their vicinity. Her station showed no immediate dangers so McLeod waited for her Captain to request any information. Figuring that to yell out readings at this point with no danger showing on her screens would just add to the distraction.
Out of the corner of her mind she noted that she was still attired in robes that reminded her of her Gaelic tradition of All Hallows Eve. Her people had brought these mixed Druid, the old Gods and Catholic traditions with them to their new world. She half expected to see a bonfire and the screeching of banshees.
Then she heard Park speak of a cloaked ship. Just as quickly, the young science officer started running scans to pick up propellant signatures. Nothing. Trying another tactic in her search for the vessel, still nothing.
~ Q?! she thought to herself. "Captain, the science station registers no ships out there, cloaked or uncloaked."

Q's voice came over the ship's intercom. "That was just a little teaser. Commander K'ratak will probably remember it from an earlier assignment........"
Danny glared angrily at him. Setting a Romulan Warbird on the Hepta wasn't exactly his idea of a teaser. "What are you up to Q?" he demanded. Q merely shrugged. "Just wait and see Mon Capitaine. But I promise you it will be much more interesting than a few Romulans."
Still cackling, Q disappeared from the viewscreen and the crew looked at each other, relieved. Danny was just curious what else was in store for them."

With that, Danny looked at the XO. "Stand down red alert."

Simon was happy enough with the Sickbay now that he had it exactly how he wanted it when a large flash of light occurred, Simon looked out of his office to find purple and green polka dots all over the walls of Sickbay. “Ok I am not imaging the change in décor am I?” Simon spoke and T’Bel immediately responded as if she had known he was going to ask that ”Yes doctor, after that bright flash the entire room became filled with these unusual colour configuration” Simon was about to hit his comm. badge to find out what was happening when the Captain came onto the comm.

Simon looked at the staff around him ‘why did Q do this, he or she usually has a plan, and why 55 years’ more questions went though Simon’s head but he quickly quietened them and raised his voice over the chatter “Okay listen up, I want all patients that can be released out, I want all Triage equipment readied and I want it done yesterday, move” as the nurses and doctors began quickly milling around doing their duties Simon quickly left Sickbay to make his way to the Bridge, Simon wanted to know why the rush to have Sickbay readied as to him that meant they were in enemy or uncharted territory as if they were in federation territory then they would be less inclined to send the crew into a panic.
Arriving on the Bridge Simon nodded to the other senior staff present before moving over to the Captain and XO “Sickbay will be ready when you need it sir, though I think Q had a bit of a play around with the walls, they are now purple and green polka dots” Shaking his head he continued “May I ask where did Q send us?” Simon listened to the response from the XO and looked at the view screen and wondered if anyone he knew were here. “Well I will ensure the Counsellor is on hand to keep moral up as I am sure this will be a first for most people on this ship” Simon had not seen the Ship’s Counsellor in a few days now which he found odd. Nodding to Danny and K’ratak, Simon left the bridge while quickly making a message to Matior to let him know the situation.

As Cadet Park works with Commander K'ratak he wonders just what Q has in store for them after incident with the ship that wasn't out there park wondered if he was cut out for starfleet.
Your just nervous Park thought it's just your first time dealing with real scenarios. looking at his instructor they finished off the duty shift without any interruptions.
Heading to the turbolift he sees Cadet McLeod also leaving " Hey Ainsleigh would you like to grab something to eat. we can get Keran and blakus too?"
<Tag McLeod>
As Park heads to Ten-Forward looking around he sees Officers and Cadet concerned for there present condition. Going up to a replicator Park orders a coffee. sitting at the end of the tables facing the door park notices a person not right for the ship. As he Picks up his drink he thinks about his family wondering if they will ever know about what happened to him. Wanting to see if he can locate them Naaa they would never believe it is you Park knew thought he wondered if Marcy ever did enter starfleet .
After his meal Park started to realize he need to express himself tapping his combadge.
=/\= "Park to Counselor Uhlani . Do you have some time to talk i fell i need too."
As Park heads to the office he nothing will this bad day worse.

Watching with relief when the Romulan ship disappeared, he heard Q Saying something about him. He was busy ignoring him shutting down the defense systems, his cadet had done a good job. So he sent his cadet to get some rest for the moment they were all going to need it.
He knew sooner or later the captain would ask how he knew Q. He wasn't looking forward to telling him that was classified the whole mission was. The Prime directive had been very clear on that, so had the admiral that gave the order to keep quite.
Looking back down at his senors he caught a odd reading, something there but not quite. He adjusted the senors again and looked harder this time. He was picking up another ship doing a quick scan he discovered it was a federation ship. It was a design he had never seen before and it was heading there way. Checking reading he noticed the shields were up but the weapon's system were not.
Looking over at the captain " Sir I'm picking up a nother ship on senors, its a federation but a unknown class. She is approaching with shields up but there weapons are not powered, she's not making any moves just heading for us on a direct flight path."
Looking back down at the senors seeing if he could put it up on the view screen. He noticed that they were being hailed. Then something else caught his attention it was broad casting its identity. " Captain your not going to believe this, But we are being hailed its the U.S.S Hanson- B"
" sir I suggest we at least go to yellow alert until we are sure there is not threat here. I don't trust Q not to try and trick us"
OCC: Okay everybody this a new class of federation ship and our special guest will be aboard. Please do me the favor and don't try to give this ship a Class name, our guest will do that when they make contact.
note from modifyer: it was hanson b, not c.

Being in the future didn't change much. His mission was still relevant. Howd didn't have any friends or family, so the immediate implications felt by the rest of the crew were, for the most part, moot for the marine.
The red alert sound had turned off since the initial encounter with the contemptible Q. While he wasn't part of the fanfare associated with the arrival, the effects were clear.
The ominous hum of the phaser banks warming up meant the bridge had found a threat. He tapped Quinn and motioned for the cadet to follow.
"We need to get to the bridge. It sounds like there is an external threat."
Halfway to the bridge, however, the phaser banks turned off. Howd found himself disappointed. It had been awhile since he got to actually be a marine. True, he paraded around the USS Jefferson as one, but the lack of action was starting to make him question if he was the type willing to jump into action blindly. This mission was teaching Timothy a lot about himself, and he was aware of that fact. Perhaps being an instructor wasn't such a bad idea after all.
"I doubt we have to worry about following the Captain now, since the game has completely changed." He always referred to his missions as a 'game'. It helped him focus on playing his part in the grand scheme of a mission.
"They are going to need some tactical advice, too, if there is a threat out there. Our weapons are outdated by fifty five years. Any tactical move will need to be accompanied by intelligence and agility." The Jefferson's wrought firepower was weak and worthless. While tactical maneuvers might be outdated, Howd's lessons-learned as a Lieutenant Colonel, combined with K'ratak's tactical expertise, would undoubtedly bring the Jefferson's tactical stature at least to comparable. That was the hope, anyway.
Arriving on the bridge, the marine made his way to the tactical console. It had been since abandoned, and the junior officer explained the false alarm regarding a cloaked Romulan ship.
The bridge was busy, and Quinn was scanning the incoming vessel, doing a weapons analysis.
"I told you were are outdated!" Howd said, looking over the Cadet's shoulder. The weapons capability on the ship was formidable, and the signatures were not clear. "They must have some interesting weapons. I'd be interested to see."
Of course, the temporal prime directive stated they wouldn't be able to see. They would take the small chance that Q will decide to send them back to their original point in time, and most likely not learn about the future. It bugged Howd a bit, from a marine perspective... but from a leadership perspective, he understood completely.

Post by Andae Blakus on Oct 31, 2007 16:04:22 GMT
Cadet Andae Blakus was happily working at the main console in engineering. He was running a diagnostic on the Dilithium Crystal Chamber when quite suddenly the console ceased to be a console, and now appeared to be a large wooden table. A high quality oak one, if Blakus wasn't mistaken. Stepping back slowly, Blakus found himself wandering what on earth was going on. That was when he noticed that he was wearing some sort of fancy-dress costume. Looking up, he noticed that everyone else in 'Engineering' were similarly attired.
But then, Engineering wasn't really Engineering anymore. In its place there appeared to be some sort of multi-leveled manor house which was also a large cave. After some aimless wandering from all of the engineering crew, engineering soon reverted back to being engineering again.
After that momentary slip into surreal psychodelia Blakus wanted to find out what had happened.
=^=All hands, this is the Captain. Q seems to have transported us 55 years into the future. Science and Engineering, find me a way to get back. I want to see you in the Observation Lounge in exactly one hour. Security and Marines, keep your eyes and ears wide open. Sickbay, Q's sadistic little jokes usually end in casualties. Prepare for the worst. Captain out.=^=
Absorbing the information, Blakus decided to put it to some use. Oh... 55 years! he thought suddenly, No, put that to the back of your mind. He had an hour to prepare for a meeting with the Captain, he would use this as an exercise to prove his worth. However, Blakus thought analytically, that was a dangerous mindset considering there current circumstances. As he often said while playing his beloved poker, "The high stakes game is a risky one to play".
Cadet Blakus strolled into the science lab, his two padds in hand. "Hmmm.." he said as he looked around for the science cadets. It soon became apparent to Blakus (after hopping around the lab) that they were not present. Feeling in a perky mood, he leaned out into the corridor. To his mild surprise Cadet Park was standing by the turbolift in converse with Cadet McLeod. " Hey Ainsleigh would you like to grab something to eat. we can get Keran and blakus too?" Blakus heard Park say his name and stepped fully into the corridor. "Hey, hi!" he got their attention. His fellow cadets turned and returned his greeting. "Sorry to eavesdrop, umm.. Jon. I heard you saying my name that's all." Blakus explained himself somewhat sheepishly. "I'm afraid the captain wants science and engineering to figure out how to return to our own time-frame," said Blakus indicating the padds he was carrying. "Catch you later."
<Tag Park>
Blakus turned to Cadet McLeod and they both walked down the corridor to the science lab. "Have you formulated any ideas to get us back yet Ainsleigh?" asked Blakus as they entered the lab. Before she could reply he continued, "I've somewhat hastily wrote down some ideas here," he said, indicating the padds again, "They range from including everything on 'current' quantum-time theory to a Kirkian sun slingshot maneuver...".
Blakus handed her the padds and hoped his overbearing hyperactivity wasn't taking Cadet McLeod aback.
<Tag McLeod>
They went to one of the lab consoles while McLeod studied the padds, "It's not much." Blakus said feigning modesty, and hoped McLeod had not noticed his mock arrogance.

OOC: Backposting to catch up...
McLeod's concern was the briefing. The operative word being 'brief'. McLeod walked into Ford's office to see Penfold sitting there. "Sir, in a briefing, what information should be included?" Cadet McLeod assumed 10 minutes tops not a 4 hour lecture.
Penfold shrugged. "I would keep it short and sweet, but be ready to answer any questions anyone asks. Typically I try and give a report in under ten minutes, because people's - especially human - attention spans do not last very long. As long as your initial report is three to five minutes, and you cover every topic, you've given a good introduction. The real problem is when people start asking questions you don't have solid answers for. Conjecture prior to the briefing is important. If you want to run your briefing by me, feel free. I'm sure Commander Ford will want to review everything tomorrow, but I'm a resource throughout your stay here."
(McLeod, if further dialogue is required/wanted)
************************************************
“Well commander, I would like to ask if you have been feeling more fatigued lately?” asked the CMO.
"No, I don't feel tired," replied William. "I have started drinking coffee more frequently in the past few weeks, but that's because I'm having trouble waking up. Why?"
(Barnes)
****************************************************
Penfold rushed onto the Bridge just as Q disappeared, seeingly only a blinding light. He waited quietly, listening to the XO and others talk about the recent experience, until he had gathered the general idea of what had happened. The Captain's announcement moments later confirmed Penfold's guess at what had happened in his absence. He approached McLeod, who currently manned the science station.
"Sorry I wasn't here," muttered Penfold. He stood next to the cadet, his head roughly even with hers despite the fact that she was seated and he was standing.

"Sure no problem let me know when you can." Park said
As cadet park waits for the Counselor. Park felt that he wasn't ready to have a career in starfleet. He feared many things but he couldn't let it show he was a tactical cadet his emotions cant show. When the lieutenant doesn't show after an hour Park decides to head to the bridge. Exiting the turbolift Park saw Cadet dawntheft and the marine instructor at the tactical station
As cadet park get up to speed on what has be happening since he left the bridge after his last shift. As The commander reported that the ship was being hailed by the U.S.S Hanson- B Park was shocked. Hearing the comment for yellow alert.
Cadet park looks at both the captain and commander his hands were poised on the tactical station waiting for the order. As the captain pondered the comment cadet park ran a normal sweep of the ship and systems both theirs and ours.
Finding nothing wrong Park says "Captian the ship is there not an illusion." As other scans revile info park relays the info to his instructor knowing the marine instructor and cadet are also hearing it as well.

" Cadet Keran you have our support you will need to get with Doctor Barnes and figure out a way to get them in the admiral with out his knowing it. "
Although she knew not to protest, B'reca felt her stomach sink when she was told that she'd have to work with Dr Barnes. If she turned up in sickbay, the doctor would be bound to remember that she hadn't yet turned up for her physical.
Before she could worry about this any further, all hell broke loose on the bridge as Q turned up and propelled them 55 years into the future. B'reca found herself wearing what seemed to be a costume for a terran celebration she had a vague knowledge of - Hallwe'en. From what she knew, it seemed that she'd been cast as a "wicked witch" with a pointy hat and ragged black dress.
The black cat was a nice touch though - she'd never seen one of those in real life before. Making a strange mewing noise, it blinked at her and walked into the turbolift. When she followed it, B'reca found the turbolift empty. Remembering the Hepta's current situation, she decided that she'd probably be useful in the science labs right now.
When she arrived, McLeod and Blakus were talking about how to get out of their predicament. The cat was sitting on top of a scanner, purring contentedly. Ignoring it, B'reca approached the other two Cadets.
"What have you come up with so far?" she asked, trying to get a look at the PADD. "Perhaps I can help?"

Admiral S'reena Hope rose to her feet as her conn officer reported an out-dated ship appearing on sensors. "Report!" she ordered, watching the young Romulan male work his console.
"It's registered as NCC-750077." Ensign Vrisla fell silent, a stunned look on his face. "Ma'am it's the USS Hepta!"
S'reena fell back in her seat, equally stunned. "Put it on screen when we're within sensor range," she ordered, "I'll be in my readyroom." The Romulan admiral beckoned her first officer. "Captain, join me please," she suggested, looking up at the old woman. Her eyes were misting over with pure joy as she walked into her readyroom.
55 Years it had been since the Hepta was last seen, and with it her old commanding officer, Vice Admiral Paul Drew. He had been declared dead three years after the Hepta disappeared and the original Hanson had been destroyed a mere two months after the last search party was called to an end. Klingons had been responsible for the ship's destruction, but soon after the Hanson-A was commissioned.
S'reena had loved the Sovereign class Hanson-A but it had never been like home. She had mourned Drew, along with the rest of the Hanson crew, but she had moved on She had been given command of the A, and had commanded her for twenty years before the ship finally wore out. Now, she commanded the Sentoku class Hanson-B and she loved every curve of it, acknowledging the accents of both the Nova and the Intrepid classes with it's blunt nose, combining the saucer of both classes, and the twin nacelles on each side.
"Ship in range," Vrisla announced over the intercom, "and it's really the Hepta ma'am."
Sighing, S'reena was pulled from her precious memories and walked back onto the bridge. "Hail them," she ordered, hope flaring on her features. At age 94, she still didn't look a day over the human age of 60, and she hoped she would be recognised. "USS Hepta, you have taken some time to get back. Do you need assistance? Where is Admiral Drew? Is he aboard? Is he well?" She had so many questions, she didn't know where to start.
The Romulan brushed away the warning hand her first officer placed on her arm, shrugging angrily. It had been so long, everyone had lost hope. And yet, here they suddenly were.

OOC: Some major back posting on my part – 65 mission posts in a week that’s incredible!
=/\=Commanders McFarland, Penfold and Ford. Cadets McLeod, Keran and Blakus please report to sickbay for a medical examination=/\=
John was interrupted as he sat in his office reviewing the duty rosters by the overly friendly doctor, Simon and his examinations John chuckled to himself. He wasn’t going to go for an examination until he was ordered too, he didn’t like Doctors and although Simon was a friend he was still a Doctor.
After a chap at his door, Cadet Blakus popped into his office only momentarily. "Sir, I'm afraid that I have been summoned to sickbay for my medical exam."
“Very well then, I want you to report back here afterwards. We’ve been ordered to prep for departure, so make sure Barnes doesn’t keep you there for too long!”
It was only 10 minutes before the young Cadet had returned; "I'm back sir." "I hope I haven't missed anything?"
John looked at the Blakus carefully, and smiled to himself. “Nope its been quiet down here. So quiet infact, I’m leaving you in charge of Main Engineering. I’ll be in Sickbay, I cannot keep the good Doctor waiting.”
(Blakus)
John was making his way for his medical when the red alert klaxon sounded across the ship and the Captain’s voice came across the comm.
Captain out.=^=
What the hell? John thought to himself, tapping his comm. badge quickly.
=^= Blakus report! =^= John yelled as he ran back to Main Engineering…
(Blakus)
=^= Science Department, this is Commander McFarland. I need a situation report! =^=
(Science Department)
As John waited for his responses, he finally got to Main Engineering. Slightly out of breathe he rubbed his brow as he thought of the gravity of the situation. 55 years, how could that happen? John knew little of Q but he had heard the rumours and read various journals on the phenomenon.

"Sir" Park looked up in surprise "i am getting a hail from an Admiral S'reena Hope." Park reported to him commanding officer "Should i put her onscreen" When the image of Admiral hope appeared on screen she started to ask fast questions.
"USS Hepta, you have taken some time to get back. Do you need assistance? Where is Admiral Drew? Is he aboard? Is he well?"
As the captain started to reply to Admiral Hope Park felt a little better about the situation getting in contact with a federation ship meant that one of his fears hadn't come true. but something just felt wrong parks training told him that much.
What could it be they were back in the heart of the federation in the sol system nothing could get past the defences that were in place. I Guess i have to discuss some things with the Counselor.

The mere mention of the USS Hanson brought back memories for the aging Captain. It had been quite a few years since she had last seen the Admiral, and the news that the Hepta might be in front of them excited her.
For a Cardassian, she aged well, particularly due to Federation medicine. The Cardassian Union did not promote senseless prolonging of life - the union was overpopulated as it was - so she was still in relatively good health after a century of living compared to other Cardassians. In a few years, though, she imagined, she would be retiring. She wasn't as sharp as she used to be.
Her excitement got the better of her as she steadily walked into Admiral Hope's ready room. The last time she had seen Admiral Drew, she was handing him papers to sign. That was fifty-some years ago. Since then, not too much had changed with Konal. She eventually remarried. He was another Cardassian defector on a freighter vessel they had helped past a demilitarized zone. It was an exciting mission, and they had fallen in love immediately.
A few years later, Dulak passed away, due to an unexplained anomaly in a transporter. Konal, already used to losses in her life, took it surprisingly well. Her crewmates were supportive as well. A few years later, she had become the First Officer of the Hanson-A. Now, as a Captain, she was still a First Officer, but on an Admiral's Ship. Not just any admiral - Her friend and confidant, S'reena Hope.
When the ensign reported the ship was indeed the Hepta, a flood of emotions filled both Admiral Hope and Captain Manto. As trained officers, they held it back. They've had false leads before, and while this seemed promising, they were not about to jump to conclusions.
Captain Manto reminded Admiral Hope of this, only to be brushed off. Even though she was nine years her senior, Captain Manto respected Hope's position, and ignored the brush-off. On the Hanson, back when Paul Drew was in charge, a small tiff may have erupted between Hope and Manto... But now, they were too old to squabble over such insignificant actions. It was just a day's work, and each knew without speaking what the other's intentions were.

John had arrived at Main Engineering only to find that the duty engineers were no more informed on the situation than he was. John sighed, thus far Cadet Blakus was nowhere to be found – this was largely John's fault perhaps he wasn't as approachable as he should be. Blakus may be liaising with Science department, he concluded.
“Lieutenant Roberts, you have Main Engineering. Liaise with the Science department and find out how this happened.”
“Aye, sir.” Answered Roberts.
“Thanks and if you see Cadet Blakus, have him meet me on the Bridge!” John added as he left the doors from Main Engineering for the bridge.
Stepping on the turbolift, John found it a tight squeeze to get a spot. Fellow Instructors and Cadets were all heading for the bridge and the upper decks as John stepped onto the Bridge it was in disarray. The Science Officer looked to be tearing his hair out trying to fathom how it was possible and was desperately trying to find a means to get home.
John spotted K’ratak who was Acting XO, usually he would not disrupt his superior when he looked to be trying to juggle seventeen things at once.
“Commander, how exactly did this happen?”
K’ratak cast John a blank look, it was all John needed to know just as Cadet Park perked up "Sir, I am getting a hail from an Admiral S'reena Hope."
Admiral indeed, John’s first reaction was in amusement. John had amassed a lot of respect for the romulan on Hepta’s last mission in which she was Acting XO. But then if they really were 55 years into the future it would make sense but what was Q doing? What was the point of all this?
"USS Hepta, you have taken some time to get back. Do you need assistance? Where is Admiral Drew? Is he aboard? Is he well?"
That was S’reena alright, John saw K’ratak give a slight shake of the head. John had noted that K’ratak and S’reena had a frosty relationship at the best of times – a klingon and a romulan, it was to be expected to an extent. John remained on the Bridge as the hail came onscreen, S’reena was still recognisable and John noticed Konal Manto. In a Captains uniform, 55 years and she hadn’t really aged at all… John was amazed, but something just didn't seem right to him about all this.
John stood on the Bridge to witness the communication, whatever had happened this may go a long way to explaining it John hoped.

Penfold had come up to her on the bridge. Suddenly her scans had picked up an unknown vessel that tactical had identified at the same time. So Ainsleigh reported what had happened so far to Penfold.
As soon as the Captain ordered engineering and science to get together a plan to return them to their own time, the commander dismissed her. McLeod headed for the turbolift followed by Park.
Just as the two were thinking of going to the lounge the engineering cadet came up to them. "Sorry Jon, a raincheck on lunch," she answered Jon, "work comes first.", giving him a wan smile.
Andae handed her his PADD and she was impressed with his ideas happy to have a starting point. Keran came up to them, ""You have any ideas?" Ainsleigh asked her compatriot.
A black cat meowed and Ainsleigh was grateful to see that B'reca still was attired in costume as was she. Picking up the cat and scratching it absently, "I wonder why the two of us didn't change back with the rest of the crew." The cat started to purr.
Quickly news traveled down that the USS Hansen B was hailing them. Speculation quickly turned to the other academy ship and Ainsleigh felt no small swelling of hope that they weren't alone.

OOC: Replying to back posts left by my instructor first:
“Nope its been quiet down here. So quiet infact, I’m leaving you in charge of Main Engineering. I’ll be in Sickbay, I cannot keep the good Doctor waiting.”
Blakus was surprised and didn’t really know how to respond. “Well, thank you sir… I’ll do my best to hold the fort.” As Commander McFarland left, Blakus, feeling rather happy about himself decided to run a full diagnostic on the Dilithium Crystal Chamber.
OOC: Back to the present…
Blakus and McLeod continued discussing his padds in the science lab and the klingon cadet Keran walked in. Blakus was amused by the fact that Keran (as well as McLeod) was dressed as a witch, and even had a black cat. “Q certainly knows his earth history” he murmured. As McLeod asked Keran of her ideas on the matter at hand Blakus absent mindedly stroked the cat a bit. It made him happy to hear he/she pur in return, he liked cats. As the two science officers conversed Blakus thought that he better leave. “I’m heading up to the bridge,” he told them, “The Captain wants us to report our ideas within the hour.”
<Tag: McLeod, Keran>
As he headed to the bridge Blakus could not help thinking that all these ideas were futile. A member of the Q continuum was involved, whatever they tried to do their destinies were in his hands.
Arriving on the bridge Blakus found it awash with instructors, cadets and the like. Man…! he thought, What a first mission. After some pacing around the bridge Blakus spotted Commander McFarland. Just as he was about to get his attention an odd scene presented itself on the forward view screen. “What? Romulans, Starfleet uniform… what’s going on?” Blakus said quietly. The Romulan Admiral spoke:
"USS Hepta, you have taken some time to get back. Do you need assistance? Where is Admiral Drew? Is he aboard? Is he well?"
Blakus eventually recognised her (from photographs) as Commander S’reena Hope. So she was an admiral in this future. Blakus listened intently from then on, he wanted to find what was going on in this strange time.

Looking at the view screen he barely noticed Mcfarland talking to him. Everybody was in shock alittle, all he could think of was this was like last time. He prayed that the admiral would not question him about a return to the future again after all it was she who oder to keep quite when he went back to his own time. Then again this was Q they were talking about and he didn't want to take any chances. While he waited for the captain to answer the Hail, He looked over at him.
" Sir I suggest extreme caution this is Q we are dealing with, I'm not saying we don't answer just use caution. Looking over at cadet park " I want a security detail on the admiral right now, Get Colonel Howd and his cadet to the bridge I want them ready for anything cadet"
Looking over at Mcfarland "As you can guess its Q and I dont like it, I would be watching for anything. Not to mention we are out of date with this era I'm transmitting you shield up grades now dont ask where I got them and destroy them before we return. Its not much but it will strenght what we do have. Also get with cadet Park about strenght phasers, until we know the extent of whats going on I dont want to be caught off guard"

Looking over at cadet park " I want a security detail on the admiral right now, Get Colonel Howd and his cadet to the bridge I want them ready for anything cadet"
After the commander issued his ordered Park tapped his combadge
=/\= "Park to Colonel Howd Commander k'ratak Would like you and your cadet to report to the bridge on the double. Park to Security team alpha report to admiral Drew's quarters immediately i want double teams around the admiral's quarters and all access to that deck sealed securty, marine and essential personal only. Park out."
As Cadet Park waits for Colonel Howd to report he wondered what was next for the crew of the hepta. When Colonel Howd arrived Park asked the instructor if he could spare two marine teams to assist security.
<Tag Howd>
As park informed his instructor he was going to ensure that the security arrangements were done he left the bridge. As park arrived he rang the door chime as the admiral answered. P
Park asked if everything was ok. when the admiral responded that it was Park informed him a team would be outside at all times until everything was resolved.
After cadet park was sure the admiral was secure park tapped his combadge
=/\="Park to Commander k'ratak the admiral has been secured and i have posted security at every access point to the deck and double security near his quarters. I am returning to the bridge" As he headed back to the bridge park seemed to wonder if it will take for Q to return them to there own time but that wasn't his task to solve his was to guard the admiral until ordered no to.
