Ainsleigh was at the science station feeling the sting of failure at not having checked the dimensions of the new Hanson B before speaking up, but she still felt her initial suggestions were correct. That is not to leave the area.
Just then her stomach gave a howl of protest and the newly promoted cadet 3rd class realized that she'd not slept or eaten since long before Q arrived. She could go without sleep for long periods, but food was another matter.
The door to the turbolift opened and an officer leaving the bridge tapped his commbadge, /\ Bridge to sickbay, man down /\
From her vantage point at the science station, McLeod could just make out Blakus unresponsive on the floor. Instinct made her want to run over, but reason prevailed and she stayed ensconced at the science station as the officer who found Andae pulled him out so that medical could use the turbolift.
At what seemed like time in slow motion passed medical arrived and began working on the unconscious cadet.

Blakus opened his eyes but was blinded by the light, he'd arrived on the bridge and briefly recalled not actually telling the turbolift where to take him. He'd wanted the science labs.. Blakus forgot it and was vaguely aware of people gathering around him, he felt himself ask what was going on and why he was on the floor, but had no idea if anyone had made sense of his likely unintelligible words.
The cat... Blakus had seen Keran's black cat in his head, what did it mean?? It had been like a vision, Q. Q was perhaps the only 'rational' explanation, not that Q was a rational being, but Blakus had previously found himself talking to Q in his head. Was this his reply? "What if the cat is Q???" he thought that he heard himself say something again, and from the look of the blurry medical staff around him, he was sure they had heard what he thought he'd said.
<Tag Science Department on bridge>
Cadet Blakus lay on the deck of the bridge oblivious to the carnage going on around him, the Hepta prepared to maneuver itself into position near to the Hanson. Whatever Q had afflicted him with, it was not having a good effect. His body started convulsing again. His vision redded-out. Slowly and shakily he tried to get up. "I must speak to Commander K'ratak!" he proclaimed, Blakus tried to shake off the arresting arms of the medics, but to no avail...

S'reena allowed herself to be escorted from the bridge and obediently followed the two security officers that flanked her to quest quarters that were hurriedly assigned to her. Of course, she could easily beam out, or so she thought anyway, but she wasn't about to try any new tricks out of that hat for a while. The Romulan felt she was needed here on the Hepta, but she did need to inform Konal not to take action against the bioships. And have them take no action against the Hepta.
"Konal put me through to the lead bioship," she ordered her first officer, once a secure connection had been established, "and if you can't, pass on a message that they aren't to take action against the Hepta. We have the situation under control. Assure them that I will personally give the order to destroy this ship when we have to."
She smiled to herself when her trusty old first officer acknowledged her order, then proceeded to ask, somewhat worriedly, whether she was all right. "I'm fine, just finding myself escorted off the bridge for a change. I'm a security risk and they're of course doubting our sincerity, or rather, my sincerity." She paused, glancing around to inspect her room, then turned on the receiver for the listening device she installed just under the science console on the bridge. "Are you receiving my data?" she finally asked, "they shouldn't be able to detect this, and they'll be a while at deciphering my fractal decription code in engineering. I want to hear everything they're saying and coming up with. Stand ready to take action if need be."
She signed off then settled on the couch, quietly listening to the theories that floated around on the bridge. She nodded occasionally, pleased with their creativity. "But not for long," she sighed. Either they managed to send the Hepta and her crew home, without memories from the future - something Doctor Emmanuel DeSanto would have to work on - or she would be forced to destroy the Hepta and thereby kill everyone aboard. Including friends among the instructor staff and most importantly: a flag admiral.

"The data has been received, Admiral. We'll attempt to send it through to the bio-ship, but I cannot guarantee that they will listen. We have been urging patience already." Konal's nerves were running a bit high for someone her age. She would seriously consider retiring after this mission.
"No response, Captain," Elal responded. Captain Manto didn't expect one.
"Can you verify that they at least received it?"
"Indeed." he tapped a few buttons. While Elal carried out the Cardassian's orders, Captain Manto asked the Admiral of her status.
"I see no reason why they should not have received it." Elal replied as Admiral Hope explained she was in no immediate danger. Konal was just being thorough.
"In regards to wiping the memory of everyone, I'll have Doctor Poroin work on making something you could administer through the ventilation system in the ship. Would you be able to have access?" The Admiral replied she would.
"Good, I'll keep you apprised. Be ready for an emergency beam out if the bio ship postures into an offensive position. We are not taking any chances here."
Admiral Hope acknowledged and closed the channel.
"Elal, ask Doctor Poroin if they have anything . She is Romulan, surely they have a neural agent we could put into a gaseous state."
"Surely, they do." The Vulcan commander said, wryly.
She rolled her eyes angrily. "You know that is not what I implied. Since the peace accord with the Romulans, you have been a pest, do you realize that?" She was only half kidding.
Elal did not waver, though, from verbal abuse.
"I'll contact Doctor Poroin if we are finished here." He stood up from the First Officer's chair.
"We are. Thank you." She mustered a smile. "Tell her to give me an update as soon as possible. If Admiral Hope finds a way to send them back in time, we will need to use this. I don't need to remind you what our other option is." She looked up at the view screen to see the bio ship sitting ominously in front of them.

Simon was always annoyed when he was not kept informed of what was going on outside of sickbay, first the Hepta had jumped 55 years into the future, then S'reena Hope arrived, Simon still remembered that near miss involving the Romulan's Honor blade sticking into his chest. Turning to one of the nurses he spoke quickly "Nurse, i will be in my office, if anything happens while i am away please notify me immediately" Simon turned as the nurse responded "Yes Doctor".
Before Simon could even settle down to work though some paper work Captain Lohnen arrived in Sickbay, quickly getting up Simon moved over to look at the Captain "Okay, there is nothing life threatening, but then again we have no one else here, put him on a Biobed and begin regular medical scans, looks for Viral infections in particular" Simon had given Danny a quick look at and he had signs of a virus that had made him fall ill and hence out cold. As one of the on duty Doctor began to work Simon moved back into his office to try and get some paper work done.
Simon picked up the first Padd when the claxon went off signalling Red Alert 'oh now what is happening' getting up from his chair Simon walked out into Sickbay, thankfully most of the staff had already started preparing Sickbay for possible casualties, until they were sure of what was happening it was best to assume we were under attack. As time progressed and nothing happened he began to think maybe things might not go bad for once, before this thought could settle properly a comm came down to Sickbay. =/\=Bridge to sickbay, man down=/\= Picking up the portable Med kit, Simon flew out of sickbay while one of the nurses responded.
Waiting for several seconds more than usual for a turbo lift Simon quickly made his way in "Bridge", Simon wondered who was going to be down 'most likely a security officer who decided to man handle Admiral Hope'. As the doors opened Simon walked a short distance into a small crowd to find Cadet Blackus on the floor. "Okay everyone back to work, that is an order" Simon knelt next to Andae, picking up the tricorder he began scanning the young Cadet's body. After a few moments Simon swore he heard the cadet say something, but the results to the scan were showing that his body was not in good shape. at that moment the cadet tried to get up the tricorder beeping like crazy Simon tried to slow the cadets down "Easy Cadet, you might not want to get up right now" the cadet did not seem to have heard him as he tried to get up "I must speak to Commander K'ratak!".
With this Simon began to worry not only was the Tricorder saying that parts of his body were begin to show signs of failure, but the cadet was now trying to work his already weakened body Simon felt there was nothing he could do here and needed to get him straight to sickbay, at this moment he noted that Commander K'ratak was making his way over "Commander, you will have to excuse me i must get this cadet to sickbay immediately." Not given the Acting Captain a chance to try to argue Simon quickly tapped his comm badge =/\=Computer, medical emergency, two to transport to Sickbay immediately=/\= with this the surroundings of the Bridge faded for the comfortable surroundings of Sickbay.
The Cadet attempted twice to get up as if to leave but collapsed, "Cadet, i am going to give you something to help you sleep while we try to sort you out" Without waiting for a reply he quickly placed the hypo spray next to the Cadet's neck and watched as he feel asleep. "Okay everyone, i want every scan you can think of, i want to know exactly what is happening to the cadet and i want to know now!" Simon turned back to look at the cadet, 'it may be something to do with being 55 years into the future, but let us hope not'.
OOC: sorry for the length of this post but i needed to do a bit of a catch up lol

Ainsleigh could just make out the word 'cat' from the gibberish that Blakus was saying. Hitting her commbadge,/\ Bridge to Science lab. B'reca please bring the cat to the bridge./\
The cat was their key to getting out of this alive. The young cadet didn't trust their 'allies' in the future. The fact that the bioships were trained on the Hepta and ignoring the Hanson proved that.
"Commander Ford, permission to leave the bridge," McLeod requested of her training officer. She had an idea and wanted to run it by Dr. Barnes before presenting it to the Captain. She'd learned her lesson with her last outburst of her previous great ideas.
Acknowledging his acceptance, she vacated the science station and rode the turbolift down to sickbay the medical team. The later having secured Blakus to a stretcher that transported with Dr. Barnes directly to sickbay.
Entering sickbay, she looked at her fellow cadet, "How you doing?" She received no response as the doctor gave him something to settle the convulsions.
Dr. Barnes had his hands full with Andae so Ainsleigh grabbed another doctor to go over her idea.

OOC: Backposting in the science labs...
"Sir, I don't believe that this Q entity could have left the cat behind accidentally. He seems too intelligent to overlook such a thing. Furthermore, the experience of previous captains such as Picard and Janeway have shown that Q's motives are often driven by boredom. He seeks amusement and isn't at all reluctant to use lifeforms such as ourselves to provide entertainment." Pausing for breath, she concluded, "What I'm saying is that this is all a game to him. And if we are to get back to our time, we must see it as a game also. All we have to do is figure out how to win the game, and I believe that the cat may provide us with this chance. As far as I can tell, it's the only obvious anomaly that Q has provided us with. McLeod believes, and I agree with her, that it could be used as a weapon."
Penfold continued to work as the cadet spoke, watching the science viewscreen constantly. "A weapon is barbaric, Cadet," said the short officer absentmindedly. "From what I've read, Q sees our weapons technology as laughably weak." Penfold paused and smirked at B'reca. "But then, I'm not reknowned for my physical prowess. Neither is my species. So I'm not the one to talk to about that. My personal view is that Q could just as easily place the cat here as a threat. Perhaps we are not supposed to use it. Ultimately, the decision does not lie with either of us, but with the Captain and Admiral Drew. I will be sure to include your opinion in any report I file," promised Penfold.
**************************************************
"Commander Ford, permission to leave the bridge," McLeod requested of her training officer.
William nodded. "Go ahead, Cadet," he replied, taking her position at the science station as she headed for the turbolift.
"Commander Ford how are things going you got anything for me yet?" asked the XO.
William shook his head. "Negative, sir. The cat is an enigma, although Penfold believes he could tap the energy and use it as a power source to power the ship. Controlling the energy flow will take some time to analyze, but I believe Cadet Keran is working on that with Penfold at the moment. I am currently researching various theories concerning supra-warp travel, which may provide us with an alternative means of travel. Although in every theory the entire power reserves of a ship are drained in merely exiting normal time-space, the cat could allow us to travel through such conditions with power to spare. However, this could take days to put together. Are there any other theories as to how we could get home?" asked the chief science officer.

"Cadet Park, What messages are you getting from Q?"
"I am not really sure sir." Cadet park says to the Commander." It's like he is giving me hints that what we are doing is wrong. that the idea is something else." As Park continues to think it over here sees the turbolift doors open and a cadet was on the floor.
As the medic team come and collect the cadet he hears something about a cat just before the doctor transports him away. As the crew thinks about the thing that has just happened Park hears Cadet Mcleod ask to leave the bridge. Just as the cadet gets permission Park looks at the Commander
" Sir permission to accompany the cadet? Given one cadet has been injured i think we shouldn't go anywhere alone since we may have more people like admiral Hope who can transport though our Shields and hide from sensors with personal cloaks." Also turning to Mcleod Park said " Arm your self Cadet till we know what is going on."
<Tag Mcleod and K'ratak>
Thinking about it Cadet park also says "Sir i think we should go to yellow alert till we know if we have a intruder."

Listening to Commander Ford report " I understand Commander ford, normally I would want a weapon of some kind made from the energy the Cat gives off. " Pausing for a moment " Since the would be waste of time, I'd rather you find away to use the cats energy for shields if possible or a way home. I don't believe fighting is the answer we need, I've been down this road before I want a way to protect our selves and get us home. What ever Q is planning he his trying to see if I'll fall back on my natural thoughts of fighting. I will not give him that pleasure this time, I'll leave it to you to decided the best use for the energy"
Just then he got his report from Cadet Park " I understand your concern and that Q has away of confusing things. I also understand the desire to take the ship to yellow alert, but we can't do that. Think about it for a moment if you saw a federation ship from the past moving to use your ship as a shield. Then all of a sudden its shields went up at point blank range, how would you react. I don't want to give the Hanson a reason to be worried about us, I just want to by the science team time. This does not mean I don't want you to be ready to react, if the Science team can find a way to channel the cats energy to our shields it might by us way out of her."
" Permission to leave the bridge granted but don't take to long Cadet OK. I'll be heading to sick bay myself in a few moments"
Looking over at admiral Drew " Sir it might be time for you to talk to Admiral Hope, maybe she can shed some light on this. I'm still concerned about the way she's been acting, and as much as I hate to admit it. I don't think Admiral Hope is being honest with us, I know she can't but her actions suggest that she might try and harm us if it comes down to it"
" I also can't be sure what other gadgets she might have come over with. I would recommend extreme care when dealing with her. Colonel Howd will be at your disposal if you should require it. I have a cadet in sickbay along with the captain, I want to check on them before things get busy again"
Looking over at his com officer " Lt get a message to the Hanson tell them we are doing some repair work. That we will be checking out thrusters and moving to the port side, its just a normal test. We are a older ship and some of our systems went down when we came into this time line. Also ask if there Xo can beam over for a little friendly Xo to Xo talk in about 15 Min's."
With that he headed for sickbay to check on his crew, he arrived to see two of his crew on bio beds. Walking into the Doctor Barnes office " So Doc whats the word are Cadet Blackus and the Captain going to be OK"

"Yes Sir, I will return as soon as Cadet McLeod is safe in the science lab." As he left the bridge with the Cadet Park slipped her a phaser. "Just in case" Park said. As the turbolift took them to the labs Park looked at the cadet. " What is you impression of Cadet Keran?
<Tag Mcleod>
As the Cadet explained her thoughts on the Klingon Cadet Park listened intently trying to find out something to help him with his issues with them. As the turbolift stopped on deck 15. Exiting they exited the lift park turned to McLoed " Thanks for the incite it has helped."
As the two cadets enter the labs they find Cadet keran and a cat in a force Field. know the Q could make the Field vanish if he wished Park turned to the Klingon Cadet. Hello cadet what have you found out about the cat's energy?"
<Tag Keran>
As Park looked on as the Cadet took him thought the scans she made. Park looked at the Cadet in a new way less fear and more impressed with her skills. As the cadet finished Park replied " Thank you i will look for the increase in power when the ideas are put into action." Just be on the look out if you leave the labs, Cadet blakus was found knocked out in the main turbolift. Cadet McLeod will tell you more she saw it better then i did."
<Tag Keran and McLoed>
As the tactical Cadet leaves the science labs thinking about something heading to turbolift Park says one word "Sickbay" As the lift takes him to deck 12. Park exits just outside sickbay as he turns left and heads down the corridor entering sickbay he runs in to the doctor just coming out of his office. Park follows the doctor to Cadet Blakus's body as it lays in the bio-bed " Doctor i was just heading back to the bridge, But i was just wondering how Andae is doing and if he told you what happened."
<Tag Barnes>
As the doctor told him, He looked at Andae with concern. It was his job to protect this crew and one of the cadets was injured. "Thank you doctor, Please let me know when he is awake. I'll be on the bridge." As he left sickbay he found him self thinking ~how can we get back to our time if Q would or maybe can't help~ Entering the nearest turbolift he barked "bridge."
As he returns to the bridge he replaces th office who took over for him after he left the bridge before. As he looked at the progress he noted they were in position under the Hanson. Now we find out if the Bio-Ships were going to attack them or not.

Simon was still quite worried about Cadet Blakus, no matter what they tried nothing seemed to slow the progression of whatever was making his brain act as if it were fully active and his organs like they are dancing inside him. Quickly picking up the tricorder to begin another set of test Simon began to wonder if the Admiral had brought something over with her that had affected the cadet.
Simon concluded his test, he was definite that it was not viral or biological in nature so something was direct interfering with the cadet either with his DNA or just re-wiring his brain. Before Simon could think of another test to perform Commander K’ratak walked in. " So Doc whats the word are Cadet Blackus and the Captain going to be OK" “Well the Captain has a viral infection he probably picked up while on the base back in our time line, I have treated it and now we will have to wait for him to wake up.” Simon moved into his office to speak to the commander “The cadet on the other hand is a bit more severe, his brain is shown an abnormally high amount of activity for an unconscious person, even more than what I would expect from a fully active Vulcan let alone a human. His organs are shown massive signs that they are under extreme strain as if they were being worked to hard to deal with something that does not exist."
"Right now sir, I have no idea what to do for him. I have placed him into a low level sleep until I can determine the best course of action and until that time I am effectively removing him from the duty roster and he is not to be disturbed until I myself give the ok.” Simon listened to the Commanders response then agreed “Yes sir, I will inform you the moment he is strong enough to be spoken to” With that Simon sat down behind his desk and began to start a report on the cadet.
After a few minutes he decided to go and check up on the cadet and ensure nothing had changed from the last time he checked, as Simon walked out of his office he noted Cadet Park entering Sickbay " Doctor i was just heading back to the bridge, But i was just wondering how Andae is doing and if he told you what happened." Simon looked at the cadet before responding “I am afraid that I can not tell you anything on the cadet’s condition, and as for saying anything I believe he mumbled something about Q and a cat, but he was delirious and I am afraid he will not be able to say much for some time.” Simon looked at the Cadet who looked worried and disappointed that Simon could not tell him more ‘well he is a cadet, gives him no right to pry into private matters’ "Thank you doctor, Please let me know when he is awake. I'll be on the bridge." turning away from the cadet Simon only nodded to confirm he had heard what he had said, picking up the tricorder again he began to scan for any new information. ‘Do not quit on me cadet, you still have to get us back’

Getting the impression that the Commander wasn't taking her seriously, B'reca bit her lip, reluctant to argue with a superior officer. They might not know why the cat had been left there, but right now it was all the science team had to work with, and she was doing her best to figure something out with what little she had. Thankfully, before she could organise her thoughts and tell Penfold that she thought he was wrong, she got a message from McLeod on the comm.
/\ Bridge to Science lab. B'reca please bring the cat to the bridge./\
B'reca was ready to do just that, happy that finally some action was being taken about the feline, when Park and McLeod walked into the science labs anyway.
"Hello cadet what have you found out about the cat's energy?" Park asked her.
"I've conducted a few scans of the creature," B'reca told him. "From what I've found, the best way to describe it is like a small, self-contained sun - hydrogen is converted into helium, creating massive amounts of energy, but if it gave off heat like you would expect it to, we'd all be fried to a crisp right now, which leads me to believe that the energy is being stored somewhere. Knowing Q's seemingly endless capabilities, the energy could be stored in a parallel universe for all we know."
When Park left, she turned to McLeod, trusting her fellow scientist to react to the information she was about to depart wisely. "Do you realise what this means?" she said. "If we could somehow access the energy given off by the process of nuclear fusion in this feline, we would have a powerful weapon in our control."

Post by Andae Blakus on Nov 15, 2007 0:17:31 GMT
Blakus was standing on a vast plain, it rolled away into the infinite distance. He looked up and saw an orange sky. Faint wisps of cloud rippled through this sky, like water ripples on the ocean. The ripples faded away until they disappeared from sight towards the horizon. Blakus twisted around to his left, there was a grey-green forest, forlorn with autumn leaves, about 300m away. It seemed to meld together with the flat grey plain. Blakus looked all the way behind him, a bright light.. a star, hung in the air shining brightly, too brightly for a star. Leering over him like a harbinger of doom it saturated his eye retinas. Blakus was dreaming.
After this thought settled in for him, he thought of something, “Q!!’ Blakus hollered at the air. He stepped forward, to where he knew not. “Q, I know you’re out there! Show yourself..” Blakus stopped yelling. His head dropped, and he stared at the bleak featureless grey plain beneath his feet. He did not know why he was dreaming what he was dreaming, but he did know Q was around in his head somewhere. If Blakus had known that his real body was being mentally overworked and effectively dying it would not have changed anything, there would have been no point in waking himself up, he wanted answers. “Q-” he began.
“No need to shout Cadet I’m right behind you.”
With a start Blakus turned. “Q.” Blakus addressed his tormentor who had been standing behind him, smug grin and all, “What are you doing to me? What are doing to the ship?” Blakus’ tone was aggressive, well aware of this entity he did not have time for games.
Q sighed happily, “Well,” he said, the surreal light of the sky played off his face in an intriguing pattern, Blakus thought, “What do you think is happening Cadet?” Q finished.
“No Q, I don’t have time, right now I’m probably dying somewhere on my ship, thanks to you. If this is some sort of test of us, then, then I need your help.” Blakus was always reluctant to ask help off anybody, let alone a Q. His superiority complex and distrust struggled to allow for it.
Q laughed loudly, “You, an inferior primitive species are asking the omnipotent Q, the pinnacle of all existence for help?! Why, I never…” Q continued to chuckle at his own sarcasm as Blakus shook his head and turned away. “I’ll say this one thing Cadet Blakus,” Q continued with a more serious voice, “If you want to get out of this, you’re going to have to think about getting away from those bizarre 8472 creatures. I’ll be back.”
Blakus’ bloodshot eyes shot open. They looked around furiously, trying to ascertain his location, sickbay… “Doctor!” he called Dr. Barnes, it hurt to speak and he nearly choked. Barnes went over to the cadet and Blakus indicated that he wished to whisper to avoid the pain. “Q’s in m-my…head,” he whispered in Barnes’ ear, “The warp drive is fixed, tell the XO to get us out of here.”
<Tag Barnes>
He passed out again and re-entered his strange and surreal dream-world. "What is, the meaning?" he said quietly to himself. He started walking.

Simon was watching as the scanner reading of the cadet’s brain activity began to show signs of weakening, quickly moving to pick up the nearby tricorder and scan to see what was happening, just as he picked it up he heard the cadet speak from behind him, “Doctor!” he called Dr. Barnes, it hurt to speak and he nearly choked. Barnes went over to the cadet and Blakus indicated that he wished to whisper to avoid the pain. “Q’s in m-my…head,” he whispered in Barnes’ ear, “The warp drive is fixed, tell the XO to get us out of here.” Simon quickly scanned the cadet but he was unable to get anything more than what he had already seen. Tapping his comm. badge Simon contacted the bridge =/\=Commander K’ratak this is Doctor Barnes, Cadet Blakus just woke for a few moments, sadly he has slipped back but before he did he said that he had completed the repairs to the warp engine and that we can now leave=/\= As Simon listened to the response he was began to think on all what the cadet had said, ‘if Q really is inside his brain then that may explain the strange reading’. Simon quickly began scanning the brain comparing the brain wave pattern from the medical he had performed earlier and the cadet’s present brain wave ‘if there is something there it is possible to suppress it’.

As Ainsleigh left the bridge, Cadet Park handed her a phaser. Not questioning the need she clipped it on her waist. The pair bantered ideas about what was happening before he asked her opinion of Keran.
"I'll admit it, B'reca has been a surprise for me," McLeod returned. "She's intelligent, well spoken and I like her."
Before the academy Ainsleigh had only known Klingons from dime novels back home. They were always portrayed as brutish, unthinking thugs. Still ignorant of much of Klingon society, the things that had caused B'reca so much angst as a child growing up in a warrior's world McLeod found her refined looks quite becoming and her intellect refreshing.
Ainsleigh's love of science had left her an outcast in her own world. The two cadets had alot more in common then either realized.
After Park left, B'reca had taken her aside to discuss the cat and its potential. The idea of the cat as a weapon scared her but if they could harness the energy it should be able to shield them and slingshot them home.
Ainsleigh's moral dilemma was that in its present form the cat was a living creature. How to tap its energy without causing harm was the real question to McLeod.
She responded to Keran, "What type of weapon and any ideas on how to harness the cat's energy?"

Leaving sick bay he was worried, he was responsible for the crew lives. Yet he was powerless to act, there was no enemy he could confront and kill. The rules had changed and he had to change with them. Arriving on the bridge he looked around he was early, there still no word from the Hanson.
He got the message from sick bay as soon as he took his seat. Wrap drive was back on line, they could leave but where would they go. He was already not liking it, it was too easy and to quick. It wasn't like Q to make anything easy, not by a long shot not for a Q anyway.
Then there was the issue about the darn Cat, What did the cat have to do with anything. He had more questions then answers. Looking around he decided to see what the science teams had come up with.
Tapping his com badge " Commander Ford I need your team for a few Min's again, sorry to interrupt. Cadet Park please report to the bridge as well I need a objective thought"
A few Min's later he had everybody gathered around the table in the conference room. " OK this is how I see it. Warp drive is back on line again, we can leave the system, this is cause for concern. I have long since learned when dealing with Q nothing is easy, this is not to say Cadet Blackus didn't do a good job. I'm sure he did but it was too quick and to easy not to mention the timing. Then there's this issue of the cat which for some reason can give off strong amounts of power. Then there's the issue of Admiral Hope, why she's hear and why Species 8472 isn't attacking. To many unknown and to many choices, so I want your thoughts on the issues. Please speak freely you have the floor lets hear your thoughts on the matter"

Taking out a tricorder, Ainsleigh scanned the room for unauthorized devises. Finding none she took a seat and caught K'ratek watching her. "Can't be to careful, the Admiral was in here," she answered his unasked question with a slight shrug.
There was an old saying, give the man enough rope and he'll hang himself. Ainsleigh felt that applied to the Hepta in its current situation. Q had given them the rope and now he was waiting to see them hang themselves.
"Sir, I believe if we attempt to leave under warp power at the moment that Species 8472 and the Hanson will attempt to destroy us. Even with our enhanced shields we are no match for them. " She continued,"Q put us in this predicament and he has given us the means to get out."
By the looks she received McLeod explained, "the cat. Even though it is not what it appears it IS in the form of a living being. The massive energy available in this being is our ticket home, but," and she emphasized a very big but, "we will be judged on HOW we use the animal. I think Q's test is whether we are willing to take the easy route and destroy another living creature to save ourselves or can we find a way to have it help us without harm coming to the animal."
From what McLeod knew of the Q, he would have multiple layers of intrigue going on. She too had heard Q in her head and had fought it. He seemed to being urging her in the opposite direction of her instincts. Ainsleigh wondered if he was using the cadets to test the Hepta's officers.
If any of the other cadets spoke up about what Q had told them and wanted to act upon it, she'd voice her concerns, otherwise she would speak to K'ratek after the meeting.

Blakus’ inert body rested in apparent peace in sickbay, but in truth it was in turmoil, and unless something was done…
Blakus had been walking in this dream for a while. He did not know where he was going, but the noise coming from the woods on his left were enough to keep him moving. As he looked at the horizon he thought he saw something, it started to resolve itself as he came closer and closer. It was a building, a ruined building. It was just standing there, in the middle of the grey plain, nothing else was around it. After a seemingly long walk (although it was difficult to tell how long, it was only a dream after all) he reached the structure, it seemed to have two storeys although most of the top storey was missing. He entered. The inside was dry and warm, but also empty with a few bits of rubble scattered around, he climbed up a steep stair which opened on to the upper storey. It was open to the air, there was no breeze. The air just seemed dead, and everything had that surreal orange tinge, formed by the alien-like sky.
He found Q sitting on a ruined wall section of the upper storey, he was looking out on the plain. “Q.” Blakus got the immortal’s attention. Q turned, “Ah cadet!” Q beamed mischievously, and took a deep breath, “It’s very nice up here is it not?” he said.
Blakus didn’t say anything but silently agreed with him, but he didn’t want to say it. He walked over to where Q was and stood looking over the plain. “I’m guessing that this isn’t my dream,” he said to Q.
Q answered, “No.” he stated. “This is something that I’m showing you, what do you think it is?” Blakus thought for a minute, a minute which became two and eventually five. After the long pause he answered.
“A representation of what’s happening in the real world?” he theorised.
“Very good!” Q confirmed, “You seem to have a good grasp of, what would you call it, psychological metaphysics?”
“Something like that.” Blakus answered. The conversation was a subdued one, Blakus knew what he had to do to get answers, and that was talking to Q. There was a screech from the direction of the woods again. Blakus strained his eyes to see what might have been there, all he saw were flitting shadows ghosting through the trees. “What is that?” Blakus asked.
Q looked to the woods, “That cadet, is the noise of your enemy, Species 8472.”
“What are they doing?”
“Hunting.”
“The ship should have left by now,” Blakus said, “If they’re using my suggestion of the slingshot theory they should be heading for the sun. 8472 and the Hanson will pursue, but we can make it before them. Unless Q, you want to stop us?”
“Don’t be so naïve Cadet.” Q said in his bitter tone, “You will see where it goes, and who knows you may be able to convince me to effect change in ‘the real world’ as you humans would call it.” With that Q vanished from sight and left Blakus to think. How would he be able to make a change to something in real life? He looked around at the mystical world he was in, which Q had suggested was no less real than the outside world, and sat where Q had been sitting. Blakus had no choice but to wait and see what else presented itself. Q would return when Q wanted to return.

Cadet Park please report to the bridge as well I need a objective thought
Just as Commander K'ratak finished calling him Park stepped out of the lift "Yes, Sir." He joked half- heartily knowing the situation was critical. As he and the other officer entered the conference room he saw cadet Mcleod scan the room. Hearing her remark about admiral hope being in the room earlier in the day he realized why. After the cadet was finished park took the padd he grabbed from the tactical station on the way to the conference room and spoke.
"Sir the fact the cat is made of pure energy, We can hook it to the warp transfer conduits in the jeffries tube in section 24 Beta. The enhanced Shields and weapons may not help us if it comes to a direct conflict with both the Bio-Ships and the Hanson. Yet the Cat's energy may give us the power we need to slingshot back in time. I know i am a tactical Cadet but i feel fighting my prove useless with the assistance of the engineering team i have some sims of what would happen if we try to sling shot." As Cadet park got up and walked to one of the screens at his side of the table park touched some commands looking at the screen Park started to explain.
As we star heading to the sun we tap the cat so to speck with extra energy i see to possible outcome first we sling shot around the sun and are back in our time or." As the screen shows him what he is saying the ship sling hot around the sun first it shows the ship emerging back in there time. As the screen switched it shows the ship sling shotting around the sun again yet this time the ship explodes. " As you can see we fail. I have run twenty-two sims and i get an even amount of possible outcome either we make it or we don't. I think Q may be able to help us but he wouldn't." Looking at commander Karats Park sat down and listened to all the other ideas. After they discoed it the Commander made up his mind.
<Tag Karats>
Now the Crew left the Conference room to make the plan come to bear. As Cadet Park returns to the Tactical station he wondered if Q would give him any clue if the plan was a good one or not.

John awoke to find himself sitting in his Office in Main Engineering, not knowing what had happened over the last few hours. John slapped himself across the face to make sure he wasn’t dreaming, asleep on the job? What the hell have I been doing… John had never fallen asleep before he was at work, this must have something to do with Q, John angrily hit his desk.
The last thing John could remember was S’reena Hope in Engineering, what had happened since? John didn’t know but he was too embarrassed to admit what had happened to anyone, so he headed for Sickbay. Before he left he felt something controlling him, as he approached the main engineering console, John disabled the warpcore and encrypted the activation code onto his padd. As soon as he stepped away the consoles began to flash as problems with the core began to appear.
John tapped his comm. badge with instinct: =^= Commander K’ratak, there is a problem with the Warp Core again. We won’t be going anywhere, no-one is quite sure what has happened down here! =^=
(Tag K'ratak)
John solemnly walked to Sickbay like a man possessed, seeing his friend Simon leaning over Cadet Blakus.
“How is he Doc? John called from behind him.”
(Tag Barnes)
“What happened?”
Simon gave John a quizzical look like there was something wrong. (Tag Barnes)
“Simon, I need your help there is something wrong with me I’ve blanked out for the last 3 hours and awoke to find myself in my Office. I don’t remember getting there or what I did preceding that.”
As Simon’s face turned to concern it was too late, John picked up a nearby hypo spray as his friends back was turned and injected him in the neck. Before knocking him out with a keenly placed fist on the back of the Doctor’s head. John tried to stop himself but it felt like he was a host within his own body. Someone or something had taken control – Q!
John dragged the unconscious Barnes into his Office and approached Cadet Blakus, something was telling him he knew too much…
“Blakus… wake up!” John said quietly, “What is it that you know?” John said with a deeper more sadistic voice.

"What type of weapon and any ideas on how to harness the cat's energy?"
"That I cannot answer," B'reca replied. "I am not a physicist, I can't even begin to guess where the energy may be stored or how to access it."
When they were called to the briefing room and McLeod voiced her concern over harming a living being, B'reca began to understand the reason for her query. She'd noticed earlier the attachment that humans seemed to have to the feline, and hadn't understood it at the time. From what she'd learned about McLeod, she seemed to be a composed, intelligent woman with potential for glory. Why was she allowing her compassion to hold her back?
But now she was beginning to understand. Whoever had killed her father (and she was sure that his death hadn't been an accident) had acted without compassion or care for Klingon life. Many of her species regarded life as dispensable - something easily sacrificed if the cause was right. Her father had been different, and it was clear that so was McLeod. They couldn't sacrifice the life of an innocent creature just to achieve their own goals.
Park had been summoned to the meeting to provide an "objective thought" and B'reca was now worried that what Commander K'ratak had meant was that he wouldn't be tied down by the same hesitation that McLeod felt for harming the cat. Although his plan seemed the most logical option, B'reca didn't know what that outcome would be upon the creature.
After the meeting broke up, she took McLeod to one side. "We may not be able to get home without harming the cat," she told the other Cadet. "And if it comes down to that... you are aware of the Vulcan idiom? 'The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few'."
She didn't want to upset her friend, but it was clear that McLeod needed to be prepared for the possibility that the cat might need to die in order to get them back to their time.

At the sound of McFarland's twisted voice, Blakus awoke with a start, whether it had been by the hand of Q or some other force.
“What is it that you know?” John said with a deeper more sadistic voice.
Blakus glanced at his instructor and knew instinctively that something wasn't right. Despite the considerable pain he leaped up and ran for the sickbay exit, leaving John to run after him.
<Tag McFarland>
He nearly faltered in the corridor, and sagged to his knees, but from somewhere, he found the strength. He flew into a turbolift, the doors hardly had enough time to swish open. While it's in McFarland's body it's limited to human capabilities he thought. It wasn't like he could step through the turbolift door now that it had slammed shut. "Bridge!!" he choked and slumped to the floor as the lift rose up through the ship. His body was wracked with pain and his head throbbed, his temples felt like they were going to burst! Slowly he felt the little strength that was left to him leave.
Delusional he crawled out of the turbolift once it reached the bridge. "Sir..." he mumbled to K'ratak as he fell through the ready room door. The waking state was so debilitating! "I've seen Q, we must go, tie the... engines to that c-cat, with it's power we can outrun the H-Hanson and slingshot around..." he collapsed, and to the shocked officers in the room, appeared dead.

Blakus glanced at his instructor and knew instinctively that something wasn't right. Despite the considerable pain he leaped up and ran for the sickbay exit, leaving John to run after him.
John pursued Blakus through the corridor, as he neared the end of the corridor the turbolift doors swished open for Blakus as he fled to sanctuary through them. Where is he going? The parasitical voice in John’s head asked, John knew it couldn’t be Q but it had significant control over his body. He did not have the strength to resist as he entered a nearby Jefferies tube and headed for the bridge. John crept through to the lower access level of the Bridge and could hear commotion from above. Blakus had collapsed, John heard K’ratak calling for a medical team.
John crawled back down the Jefferies tube, his mission was clear to him. He had to destroy the Hepta, it was threat to his species. It finally dawned on John, somehow he was being controlled by Species 8472. How were they doing it though, there had been no case of Species 8472 being able to control human lifeforms. But then the Hepta was 55 years in the future, or perhaps it was Q. John thought to himself.
There was nothing he could do…
Arriving at Main Engineering, John discreetly altered the plasma flow to the warp core increasing the flow by small increments that would go unnoticed until causing a warp core breach. John tapped the final command into the console and collapsed on the floor unconscious, whatever had been controlling him was gone now!

Looking around the room at each of his cadets, and smiling at them. " First I want to say you have all come along way, from you started. You are starting to think like officers, and thats good. The toughest job you going to face when it command is which idea to follow, which is dictated by current events. I thank you all for your thoughts and concerns, as you all have pointed out Q is involved in this, which just makes it hard to choose. I will not kill the cat unless its the last resort, even then I don't think I would do that. If we did kill the cat we would be proving Q's assessment of our race. I would rather stay here then do that, I know its alot to ask but we have to maintain order and rules we chose to live by. Even though its a cat its still life and that whats matters. "
" I want you to start tapping into the cats energy safely, or not at all. We will not prove Q right by any means, is that understood. I want to get us home and I think we can, next is species 8472. currently we are in weapons range already, they have not fired this leaves me to believe that the Hanson is involved. We also have to consider with all the things we have just learned the Hanson will not allow us to return. I need away to slow them down, if we get the chance to return. There worried about the time line, with could cause."
Pausing for a moment " I'm not a science major or time expert or what ever you choose to call it. But I have come to believe that time is not set that it changes, this is just one possible time line nothing more. Its not our future per say, the future is what we make it and thats what we must focus on. Time travel has been around for awhile in one shape or form, I suggest that we don't worry about this time line to much. I'm not say disregard it, I'm just saying that if things are going to happen then they will."
" My example is this, we know that earth discover warp drive. If the scientist who discovered died before he made his break through. I don't think it would stop earth from discovering warp drive. Somebody else would have maybe alittle longer but it would happen in one way or another. We need to get back people to our time line, the longer we are the less likely we will return. So I say to you all everybody in this room get us home use what every you need. Leave the Hanson and species 8472 to me and Cadet Park, just focus on getting home. If you can come up with a way to do that then everything here will be mute"
Just then he saw cadet Blackus stumble through the briefing room door
Looking up to see the Cadet Blackus stumble into the briefing room, then heard him speak.
Sir..." he mumbled to K'ratak as he fell through the ready room door. The waking state was so debilitating! "I've seen Q, we must go, tie the... engines to that c-cat, with it's power we can outrun the H-Hanson and slingshot around..." he collapsed, and to the shocked officers in the room, appeared dead.
Tapping his com badge " Doctor Barnes report to the briefing room on the double, cadet blackus may be dead"
Looking around the table " you heard him people Q's giving clues, I know your concerned for cadet blackus but you have to focus get to work"
Tapping his com badge " Doctor Barnes you are needed on the bridge, Cadet blackus, I"m no doctor but I think he's dead

Simon became worried with the cadet’s brain wave, “Nurse, please check my findings, if I am correct we may have a problem.” Simon said to the only nurse left in sickbay, for the last hour they had receive numerous calls for medics, ‘people are collapsing everywhere’ Simon thought while he considered waking the emergency staff, “Doctor this can not be” Simon was brought back to reality “So you agree with my finding then.” The nurse nodded, “Ok, prep a neural inhibiter we need to lower the additional brain wave if that is at all possible, if the cadet is to be believed this additional is some sort of Q mind” As the nurse moved to begin her work Simon began to question the Cadets ability to differentiate what he was thinking and what Q was.
As Simon watched the cadet he heard the sounds of Commander McFarland entering Sickbay “How is he Doc? John called from behind him. Simon looked at John and stated what he could “Cadet Blakus collapsed while on the bridge, I have been trying to workout what is wrong with him for a while now without success” Simon looked at John “What happened?” Simon gave John a quizzical look like there was something wrong. ‘did he not hear me’. “Simon, I need your help there is something wrong with me I’ve blanked out for the last 3 hours and awoke to find myself in my Office. I don’t remember getting there or what I did preceding that.” Simon looked at John then turned to pick up a tricorder “Well let me get my Tricorder and I will …” Simon could not finish his sentence as at that moment he felt a hypo spray next to his neck and a sharp pain from the back of his head, and all went black.
--Several minutes later--
Simon began to come round, looking around he found himself in his office with his assistant looking over him “what the hell happened” T’Bel looked at him and smiled “well logic would suggest that you turned your back on someone you should not have turned your back to” before Simon had a chance to point out to his assistant that the answer she gave was the worst piece of logic he had ever heard from her a his comm. badge went off =/\=Doctor Barnes report to the briefing room on the double, cadet blackus may be dead" Simon looked at his assistant but before he could respond she placed a hypo spray on his neck and he fell back to sleep.
--From T’Bel--
T’Bel looked at her superior officer and ordered the nurses to take him to one of the Bio beds and begin scans, she was worried he had a brain injury and was not going to let him run all the way up to the bridge. =/\=Doctor Barnes you are needed on the bridge, Cadet blackus, I"m no doctor but I think he's dead=/\= T’Bel tapped her comm. badge “Commander K’ratak, this is Lieutenant Commander T’Bel, Commander Barnes has been attacked, we are unsure as to who or why and on how bad his injuries are. I will be there momentarily” T’Bel quickly picked up a medical kit and made her way up to the briefing room.
Arriving she quickly moved to begin scanning the cadet, “Commander K’ratak, could you please give me some room to work” She said as she half pushed the Klingon out of the way. As she continued to scan she noted that there was in fact a pulse, a weak one at that but I was there. “Commander, he is not dead, looking at his brain wave pattern it seems as if whatever Simon had picked up has gone and what was left is attempting to re-boot the body” ‘I hate doing this but humans and Klingons prefer to hear it like this.
