Following the encounter with S’reena, Drew had returned to his quarters to study the latest information, leaving K’ratak and the Hepta crew to resolve the problems they were currently experiencing. Despite his rank and experience, this was not his ship, and he had to allow the command crew to run the ship as per normal, regardless to the circumstances.
Accessing the computer database, Drew called up the reports filled by the Starfleet Captain’s who had previously dealt with Q. Thankfully Drew himself had never had to deal with the famous menace, but he had knew other officers who had, including his former First Officer, KezTrek, while she herself had been captain of the Hanson.
His thoughts were distracted by the first comm call from the bridge, informing him that Q had done something with the warp core, and requiring his presence. Shutting down his computer, he straightened his uniform and began to make his way to the turbolift. No sooner had he entered the cart the bridge called for him yet again, and this time there was a distinct note of panic in K’ratak’s voice.
“Commander, what’s going on?” Drew demanded as he walked out onto the bridge, “your call sounded urgent.”

Looking up at Admiral Drew as he arrived on the bridge, this was not going to be easy. He had more problems then answers and no easy way to get the answers.
Standing up to face that Admiral, everybody knew the problems so he didn't see a need to hold a private meeting. " Our problems have gotten bigger sir, Q has done something to the warp drive, we have don't have main power but some systems are still running like they do. We can't jump to warp, some of the crew are having run inns with Q and the effects are not very good. Doctor Barnes wants to keep our chief engineer in sick bay, I've asked him to reconsider the matter with some limits placed on Commander Mcfarland."
Taking a breath " The science team and Cadet Park are thinking about placing this cat which turns out is another life form with alot of power, they want to place this being in the warp Corp to jump start it. I'm not keen on this idea but I told them to work on it as a last resort, even still Admiral I don't think I could give the order to do so. Not with out knowing if any harm would be done to this life form."
" The Hanson is not responding to Hails, Species 8472 is holding position.Which tells me the Hanson has a hand in this. I'm starting to believe we aren't going to get any help from the Hanson and that she might stand against us if we do try to leave. I also need to talk to our guest something Q said needs to be checked. If you could sir take control of the bridge while I visit with Admiral Hope for a moment it would be a big help"
A few Min's later standing out side Admiral Hopes guest quarters.
He waited for somebody to open the door but nobody answered right away. Looking at the security detail they assured him she was inside.
" Computer open the door on admiral hopes quarters" a few moments went by and he walked in to see Admiral Hope talking to Q
" I knew you had to be in on this Admiral Hope, Whats going on with my Warp Drive and why are you not helping us"
Looking at Q who was smiling his biggest smile " And you Q are you so bored that you have to destroy peoples lives in the name of a test. I have a Test for you Q why don't you try working with us for a change, you may find the results better"
Looking back at Admiral Hope his temper was at its limits, he had stayed in control for so long. She was talking to Q and risking the lives of his cadets and the ship" So Admiral as he started to walk to her, are you going to tell again whats going on or what. Since you have come aboard I have had nothing but problems. Something tells me your not hear to help us but to protect your time line."
" I knew you when you were a commander, the one thing I always like about even tho your Romulan is you cared for the crew. Has 55yrs changed you are you hard now willing to sacrifice lives even the ones you knew and cared about. I would dare say there is some Klingon in you yet"
He hadn't notice Q had left he was focused on Admiral hope he kept walking to wards her until he was a foot or two away from him. " So tell Admiral Hope what are you going to do, don't think I haven't figured out why species 8472 hasn't fire on us yet or why your ship wont return my hails. I have been thought this before with Q, the results weren't good, then again you might not care. Your going to give me answers Admiral one way or the other, I wont let any harm come this ship or crew and I don't care what Price I need to pay for it"

=^= Well sir if you can i can transfer my scans to the doctors office, Or Cadet Keran can transfer it to a padd for your review. As for ethical implications i believe Q put the cat here for use to use. =^=
=^= Transfer the scans down to sickbay please, I’ll view them from here. =^=
As John turned to B’reca for her opportunity to speak, the terminal in sickbay beeped as Park transferred the data. John moved to the console to review the data, it certainly seemed to add up on the surface but it would require closer attention. John listened closely as B’reca spoke to Park over the comm.
"Commander McFarland believes that Blakus is in contact with Q. If you give him longer to talk to him, Q may give the warp core back voluntarily."
John’s attention was momentarily interrupted as he turned to look at Andae, he was lying on the biobed in a deep sleep, the doctor and nurses had managed to stabilise his condition. John quickly spun his head round and concentrated on the readings.
"Commander, I will return to the bridge and transport you to the briefing room from there," she said to McFarland. "But I would like to request that I be present in whatever conversation you intend to have."
“Thank you Cadet, your presence and support are always welcome.” John smiled gratefully as B’reca left sickbay to head towards the Bridge. Soon after B’reca left John’s comm. badge beeped.
=^=Engineering to Command McFarland, the warp core is back – we don’t know where it came from but its here! How did it happen? =^=
John tapped his comm. badge =^= I think Cadet Blakus had something to do with it, call it a hunch. McFarland out. =^=
John smiled as he turned to Andae’s biobed once more, the cadet seemed to be having a nightmare as he rolled about the bed. A nearby nurse ran to his side and upped his medication, whatever had happened with the warp core – John was certain Andae was involved. As John stared at Blakus his comm. badge beeped again, this time it was Commander K’ratak.
=^= Sections heads 30mins until the briefing make sure you bring your cadets. That means you to commander Mcfarland you have my permission for the moment to at least attend the briefing. We will discuss anything futher with the doctor.=^=
John clenched his first in celebration, at least K’ratak hadn’t lost his sanity John mused before tapping his own comm. badge;
=^= McFarland to K’ratak, thank you. =^= John simply thanked his XO, before tapping his badge again.
=^= McFarland to Keran, Looks like I’ll be attending that briefing afterall. Commander K’ratak has given me permission to attend, looks like we won’t have to be disobeying orders. =^=
(Tag B’reca)
John tapped his comm. badge one final time.
=^= McFarland to Barnes, Simon I think its time we had a talk. You know where I am. =^=
(Tag Barnes)
John sat back down at the nearby terminal and reviewed the data he had transferred from Engineering on the warp core. Whilst awaiting Doc Barnes response.

"So Admiral as he started to walk to her, are you going to tell again whats going on or what. Since you have come aboard I have had nothing but problems. Something tells me your not hear to help us but to protect your time line."
S'reena sighed, annoyed at the fact that the Klingon chose now to infringe on her right to privacy. She hadn't expected Q to show up in her guest quarters and she had been trying to get him to leave her alone just the moment the Klingon barged in. "You know me commander," she started, but K'ratak apparently had no inention of letting her explain.
"I knew you when you were a commander, the one thing I always like about even tho your Romulan is you cared for the crew. Has 55yrs changed you are you hard now willing to sacrifice lives even the ones you knew and cared about. I would dare say there is some Klingon in you yet"
Again she was about to respond, then blinked when Q suddenly disappeared. She wanted to warn the Klingon first officer, but part of her resented him for accusing her of being part Klingon. It was rude and offensive and hurt her deeply. So, she said nothing when Q disappeared and silently let the Klingon rant at her, watching him as he edged closer and closer to her, until they were finally nearly face to face.
"So tell Admiral Hope what are you going to do, don't think I haven't figured out why species 8472 hasn't fire on us yet or why your ship wont return my hails. I have been through this before with Q, the results weren't good, then again you might not care. Your going to give me answers Admiral one way or the other, I wont let any harm come this ship or crew and I don't care what Price I need to pay for it"
"Are you quite finished?" S'reena retorted, finally speaking up when the Klingon actually had to stop and take a few breaths. "I don't think you have figured it out," she snapped, "you're not bright enough to figure it out. And if you were bright enough you would know I can't answer any questions, because of the Temporal Directive. Now, I am going back to my ship do discuss the fate of this ship. Don't think I don't care, I want nothing more than send you back home. Oh and I had nothing to do with the disappearance of your warp core, just in case you thought that."
K'ratak roared in fury, then charged at her. Surprised, S'reena took a step back then found herself spinning as K'ratak's fist caught her right on the jaw. She blinked back tears of pain, then drew a small phaser from a pocket, keyed in a sequence and aimed it straight at K'ratak. "Don't make me hurt you commander, I really don't want to hurt you." K'ratak, however, seemed beside himself with anger and charged at her again. The Romulan admiral pressed the trigger on her weapon and the Klingon collapsed in a heap.
Kneeling beside him, she pressed his combadge. "Sickbay, Commander K'ratak is in need of medical attention," she called, then tapped her own combadge. "Hope to Hanson, one to beam up." She disappeared in a column of light the second medical charged into her quarters, preceded by security reacting to the alarms going off at an unauthorised weapon being fired.
"The Hepta is experiencing a power drain," she reported the moment she stepped onto her own bridge. "Q stole their warpcore. Have we found anything yet to help them return home? Otherwise we have no choice but to destroy them."

As McLeod helped McFarland to the bridge, they were intercepted by Dr. Barnes and in no uncertain terms the commander was ordered to sickbay. The young science cadet was shocked to hear the CMO invoke Starfleet articles to relieve the CEO of command. Academically she knew that the doctor's responsibility was the welfare of the crew, but Ainsleigh believed the crew needed McFarland, even as injured as he was, more.
The redheaded firebrand wanted off the emotional roller coaster she'd been on. It had been not stop. The joy of her first assignment to puzzlement and fear at what Q had done to them. Then elation at the thought they were going home only to have Q thwart them when success had been so close at hand.
"Ainsleigh, Q is trying to make me lose my temper," B'reca said, adding "I think he's worried that we might succeed. Doesn't that mean we're on the right track?"
The look the two science cadets exchanged spoke volumes. Ainsleigh was angry enough to spit nails at what Q had done to them. "Yes, I think we are and I believe we are running out of time." All the while she visualized disemboweling Q only to have him laugh at her, "Humans are so uncivilized.".
Without warning reports started coming in, the warp core had returned though it was unpowered. Ainsleigh's first thought was that the young entity could help them there.
Suddenly klaxons started sounding. "Weapons discharge in the guest quarters," the security station reported. =/\=Security to Admiral Hope's quarters."
The helm shouted out, "Species 8472 has started to move!."
=/\=K'ratek to the bridge=/\=
=/\= K'ratek has been shot, he's being transported to sickbay=/\=
=/\=Cadets Park and Keran to the bridge=/\=
Ainsleigh looked around to see Admiral Drew as the only command officer not in sickbay. "Sir, we have a plan, but I will need Cadet Park on tactical and Cadet Keran on science and I will handle engineering."

B'reca was glad that they'd be able to pull this off without getting into trouble. She didn't want to be court-martialled after her very first mission, no matter how right she thought her actions were. The only thing she was worried about was that Dr Barnes would have something to say about the Commander's undermining of his authority. She was just entering the bridge when she heard:
=/\=Cadets Park and Keran to the bridge=/\=
"I'm here," she said, noticing Ainsleigh and Admiral Drew. "What's going on? Where's Commander K'ratak? Are we going ahead with our plan, now that the warp core has been returned?"
<Tag McLeod and Drew>
Moving to the science station, she awaited instruction, glad that something was finally being done. She only hoped that Q wouldn't pull another stunt like last time and take away a critical component of their plan.

Cadet Park, this is Keran. I agree that the lifeform shouldn't be harmed if we can avoid it. McLeod has discovered that it is more than a mere cat - it appears to be some kind of sentient shape-shifter."
As Park thought about it he responded " I understand your issue, But think about what will happen if the Bio-ships fire on us without power to the Shields."
As he hears the call to have him come to the bridge park was confused he was still on the bridge from before. As he was about to use his combadge to contact admiral drew to inform him he was on the bridge the turbolift doors open Admiral drew exited the lift and nodded to the cadet descending to the command area he sat in the captain's chair. The alarm sounded to inform him the warpcore was returned to engineering, But the core was empty.
Turning to Admiral drew "Sir we have gotten our warpcore yet it doesn't have any matter inside it so it is useless to us." Out of nowhere Q's voice was in his head ~ I know you don't want to hear this but you have to make the cat go into the warpcore. the Hanson is going to fire.
Looking at his tactical board and in internal sensor at the same time they both told him the same thing Admiral Hope was gone from the Hepta and the Hanson was powering weapons. " Sir Admiral Hope is gone and the Hanson is moving away from us."

"I'm so glad to see you!" Konal exclaimed when S'reena entered the bridge. "The bioship appears hostile, and I have ordered the helm to take us out of range."
S'reena had a bruise on her cheek. "Do you need to have that looked at?"
After knowing the Admiral for over fifty six years, she knew the answer, but still had to ask. The Romulan Starfleet officer refused medical treatment. It wasn't anything severe, and it would heal.
"I have our weapons powered up to defend the Hepta from the bioship." Boy was she glad to see the Admiral. "I also figured, after seeing your emergency transport, that you would want to have the option to fire upon them." Konal let the thought sink in for the rest of the bridge crew. Some of the older ones had friends on the Hepta. "Had" being the operative word. They all were bound to the Prime Directive, though. It was a shame they wouldn't be able to talk after so many years.
With the neural agent in place, ready to inoculate against any obtained knowledge on the Hepta part, all Admiral Hope had to do was give orders. The Romulan Doctor insisted that they would only remember bits and pieces, but nothing specific. And the risk, well the risk would have to be accepted.
"Is Q going to send them back?" That was the real question. If not, the bioship was probably going to destroy the Hepta. If that did not happen, the Hanson would probably have to do the honors. Hopefully Admiral Hope had discussed repercussions with the omnipotent and omnipresent nuisance. If so, hopefully this 'game' of his would be over. The Q aspect to this was all speculation on Konal and Elal's part, but with Konal being such a level headed thinker, and Elal being logical and outgoing, the fact that they came to the same conclusion meant it was probably the correct explanation. Hence the forward questioning.
Konal sat quietly in the first officer's chair, incidentally sending Elal back to the science station. She awaited orders from the Admiral. She was glad she had given up command of her own ship to once again join the Hanson crew as First Officer. Mostly since she was once again in an advisory roll, and Admiral Hope could make the tough decisions.
"I'm getting too old for this." She whispered to herself.

John was reviewing the warp core’s functions now that it was back, it was not operating at full capacity but was operating at a level maintaining key systems like life support and weapons but there was not enough power to enter warp let alone maintain it. John slammed his fist on the sickbay console he was working on, much to the horror of a nearby nurse who was about to strap John to his biobed when a comm. came in requesting a medical team.
=^= Sickbay, Commander K'ratak is in need of medical attention, =^=
John recognised that voice, it was the voice of S’reena Hope. Not again, John thought – maybe this time they actually resorted to fighting. They always had a frosty relationship… John dismissed his thoughts of an altercation between the two.
Suddenly there was a flicker of light and Commander K’ratak was beamed into a nearby biobed and immediately surrounded by nurses and Dr. T’Bel. John tried to push his way through to see his friend…
“K’ratak what happened?” John shouted not knowing if the XO could hear him. John had only caught a glimpse of him and didn’t know his condition.
“Commander please step back. There is nothing you can do for him now.” Doctor T’Bel, had two nurses place John back down in his biobed as T’Bel contacted Barnes.
“I’m leaving.” John announced, “I have to get to the Bridge, Commander K’ratak said as long as I was accompanied by medics and a security team – I could leave Sickbay.”
Doctor T’Bel just nodded, not wanting to distract her – John left Sickbay with 2 medics in toe and 2 security officers to boot. Before leaving he walked past Andae's bed and tapped the Cadet's shoulder. "We'll get through this Andae, I know you have a part to play in this yet."
(Tag Blakus)
John left Sickbay, stepping into the turbolift, John ordered “Bridge”, he was going to head to Engineering but he had to know what was going on…
Stepping out onto the Bridge, John noted Admiral Drew surrounded by Cadets McLeod, Keran and Park. John assumed the Admiral was up to speed as Cadet McLeod finished speaking,
"Sir, we have a plan, but I will need Cadet Park on tactical and Cadet Keran on science and I will handle engineering."
“Admiral I know this is highly irregular,” John said referring to his own ‘entourage’ and the plan of the Cadets. “But it’s the best shot we’ve got, it’s the only shot we’ve got!”

As he connected his punch to Admiral Hope's face, he knew in the back of his mind this was wrong. He couldn't understand what he was doing he knew why but that was not enough to strike a fellow officer. As he stepped back to take another swing at Admiral hope he heard her warning, but for some reason he didn't care.
Then he felt the blast it was not like anything he had felt before. He was sure Admiral Hope had shot him with something, but where did she get the weapon from. If he lived through this he was going to have a talk with cadet Park about searching people a little better. His whole world was going black, his only thoughts were of the Hepta and the crew. He wanted to get them home to keep them safe.
He couldn't feel his body anymore or hear anything, then he was someplace else standing in the great Hall of heroes. This was where Kayles was suppose to be, had he died was he about to meet the greatest Klingon to every live. He saw some one sitting on the throne and walked up to. He couldn't see the face then he heard laughing he knew that laugh.
Q looked up at him and was laughing" It took along time for you to get her K'ratak, although I thought for a moment you wouldn't do it. You struck Admiral Hope and she shot you, how clever for the admiral don't you think" " Q what have you done, why am I here what about my ship and crew."
" Easy Commander even though you are some what dead doesn't mean I wont put you back on a leash. I have to admit you showed more restraint then I thought possible for a Klingon even I was impressed and its not easy to impress a Q"
" Although I think if I didn't step in and force you to loose control we might never have this conversation. Sorry but you weren't acting Klingon and I needed you too, so I gave you a little push so you would attack the admiral."
" Why Q Why" Q looked at K'ratak with a new found respect or at least with a new impression of him. " I'm sorry to say K'ratak that this test was for people who are new. You have already shown that you can change your way of thinking in a sense you have already passed. But now its up to your crew to prove they can think out side the box, to see if they can understand that rules can change and what they thought they knew isn't really what exist. If they pass you will all be returned to your own time with no time line change, if they don't well then you and I will be spending a great deal of time together."
" Its simple really Species 8472 can not form a alliance with the federation. It breaks certain laws you people can't grasp, its impossible to control them and guide them. They are not the friends they make them selves out to be. We need to see if we can change this before it happens. Your crew must figure it out Cadet Blackus is on the verge of knowing the truth, he might save you yet"
" Don't worry to much commander every cadet was given a peace of the puzzle from your science cadets to your tatical cadet. Don't you wonder why they have been talking about possible attack plans and weapons, its because they know something is not right but they need to act. Then there's your admiral he might figure it all out yet with there help"
" Q there must be a easy way don't you think, cant you just stop them" for the first time he saw fear in Q's eyes not that he would admit it" I"m afraid even the Q have some rules commander we can't interfere with the freedom of choice, even what Gods you pray to gave you choice. We will sit and wait Commander and see what happens, lets hope your faith in the crew is well placed shall we. Lets go visit them oh don't worry they wont see or hear you, are there just to watch things pan out"
Then next thing he knew he was standing on the bridge Q had placed a collar and leash on him. " It wouldn't do for you to go wondering around the ship besides there's one being on this ship that could see you and even talk to you. I don't want that happening so your staying right next to me like a pet dog, now watch commander and see what happens"

Blakus stumbled blindly through the dark. He had decided to explore this underground, as he had determined that it was impossible to get out the way he had got in. It was slow going for him, he had his arms held out in front of him being careful not to walk into anything. The tunnel seemed to continue on indefinitely, with no end in sight.
And then he was falling, Not again... he thought. He flailed his arms wildly and then thought of the end, in Q's dreamworlds, who knew? You might die in them. It was not long before Blakus felt himself hit the ground again. He lay there on his side and noted that the ground was covered in dead leaves and dry, broken twigs, "What the?" he mumbled. He rolled painfully onto his back, and saw the orange sky once again, with the star high above, the Sun..., he passed out.
Not for the first time, Blakus woke up. The first thing he noticed was that he didn't feel like his insides were falling apart, and that his brain didn't feel like it was going to explode. The second thing he noticed was that his vision was no longer blurry and that he could see more than the colour red. As he looked up at the ceiling, the one colour he did notice that he could see was, pink. "Hmm, that must be the sickbay paint job Barnes couldn't get rid of," he stated, and then laughed.
A nurse heard this and hurried over, "Cadet no you must sleep," she insisted.
"What? But I feel fine," Blakus replied. He sat up and pushed himself off the biobed much to the nurse's distress. Her fears were confirmed as Blakus' knees immediately gave way and he fell to the floor.
After the nurse helped him back onto the bed she pondered what she had just observed, "Cadet, your internal damage seems to be repaired, but you still appear to be chronically weak. You need at least a week of reparation." Blakus agreed to stay in sickbay, he lay back on his biobed again.
However there was no way he was staying there for another week, Blakus desperately wanted to get back into the action. He wasn't sure what he had accomplished in his dreamworld, but he was sure that he wouldn't allow the Hanson and/or the bioship to destroy the Hepta, Blakus swore on it. He considered it ridiculous that another Federation ship would seriously try and destroy them, it may have been 55 years in the future, and the Hepta may have seemed insignificant, but as far as he was concerned the story of the Hepta was not yet over. That damned Admiral Hope could give it in as far as Blakus was concerned, Blakus was determined to win.
Putting such thoughts aside, Blakus thanked the nurse for her kindness as she went to get Doctor Barnes, he sighed and shut his eyes.

As he listened to Commander K’ratak’s report, Drew felt a familiar sensation start to develop inside his head, time travel always gave him a headache. Now, not only were they lost in time, oh no, to make matters even worse, the warp core was gone, a ship from the future was playing games with, Species 8472 seemed on the verge of attacking, S’reena Hope was up to her old tricks, and that bloody Q was playing games with them all.
“I hate time travel,” Drew muttered to himself as K’ratak left the bridge to talk with S’reena. Taking the centre chair, he called up the command panel so that he could review ship systems for himself, there had been power failures throughout the ship, which was to be expected with no warp core. Thankfully most of the key systems seemed unaffected.
As he reviewed the data on his screen, he noticed a sudden change in their status. Before he could find the reason, the reports came in that an empty warp core had been returned to them. As he gave orders to secure the core, he let out an small sigh, life would be much more easier with a core, even an empty one.
Shock overcame him when he heard the news of S’reena’s attack of K’ratak and subsequent escape. Clearly the Romulan was deranged, as always she was only seeing part of the picture. She didn’t need to destroy the Hepta to protect the timeline, nor did she in fact need to take any action, but in typical S’reena style she had gone into things head first without stopping to think. Now she had finally gone too far.
“Hail the Hanson,” Drew ordered anger building up inside him, “and us all subspace bands, I want them to hear this.”
The channel open, Drew rose from his chair and walked to the centre of the bridge, folding his arms he looked directly at the viewscreen, which still showed a blurred image of the Hanson.
“This is Admiral Paul Drew to the Starship Hanson,” he said in a cold voice, “I have assumed command of this ship, and I fully intend to put an end to this charade. But first I want you to know, S’reena that I am disgusted with your handling of this matter, your actions have been cowardly, shameful and unbecoming of an officer. If this is how Starfleet Admirals now operate then this is one timeline I want nothing to do with”
As he spoke, Drew allowed his anger to creep into his voice.
“ I thought you and Konal both understood what it meant to be Starfleet Officers, but clearly I was wrong, neither of you deserve to wear that uniform, and you have brought dishonour to the once proud name of Hanson
Turning his back to the screen, Drew returned to his chair, ordering the transmission to be ended
Feeling better after his rant, Drew listened to the suggestions of the cadets, and Commander McFarland. Although their plan sounded risky, it was perhaps the best chance that they had. Drew made his decision.
“Get started,” he told them, “you may use the full resources of this ship.”
“One other thing though,” Drew said before they all got to work, “Cadet Park, I want you to be ready to fire everything that we have in the phaser array and torpedo tubes, if this fails, we may very well have to fight.”

“Cadet Park, I want you to be ready to fire everything that we have in the phaser array and torpedo tubes, if this fails, we may very well have to fight.”
"Yes, Sir." Is all park said at first. Working with the teams all over the ship park worked to get weapons ready. Finally after about an hour they had full weapons. Turning to Admiral drew " Sir we have full weapons and Shields back. i have use some tinkering and have the power level at 215% for the phasers and 250% for the photons. Its a little trick my mother showed me before i was shipped out to earth to the academy."
<Tag Drew>
Turning to McLeod at engineering and Keran at the science station." Are you ready with your idea,With out a warp core to power weapons i am not sure how long i can keep power to them if we get into a direct conflict with either the Hanson or the Bio-ships. I will keep it up as long as i can without taking power from you guys."
<Tag McLeod and Keran>
"Sir we are ready to give this a shot. On your order." Park said to Drew. Having his hand reading himself for the task. Park knew this was going to be tricky yet he had confidence in his fellow cadets.

" Doctor Barnes I understand your concerns and are normaly right. This however is not a normal everyday problem. You are with in your rights to releave Commander Mcfarland. I on the other hand can counter mand that order if, its a danger to this ship. I dont want to do that, I would like to meet you half way on this if possible. What if a medical team trails with a security team behind Commander Mcfarland. At the first signs of trouble they can releave him and beam him into sickbay. I"m asking you to think beyound your duties and a doctor and to think about the saftey of this ship and crew. I'm trying to meet you half way doctor, I will of course note your objections in my log."
Simon looked at the commander “One, if you do then I will be placing a report into Starfleet head quarters about you overriding a medical issue. Two, I will not allow him out under any circumstance, if my tests are correct which I hope not then only sickbay will have sensors strong enough to pick up a problem before it becomes a danger to Commander McFarland’s life. If you really want this then I will allow him out of sickbay for the briefing only, after that he stays in sickbay, any work you wish to bring him I will allow, but the moment I pick up a single problem I hold the right to stop this. And on a side note your statement suggest that the Assistant Chief Engineer officer is not capable of taking over for a while” Simon did not stick around to hear a response as anything K’ratak said from this point would be futile. Making his way back to sickbay he heard his comm. badge on off =^= McFarland to Barnes, Simon I think its time we had a talk. You know where I am. =^= Simon quickly tapped his comm. badge “John I want you to stay in sickbay until I get there, after that you can go to the briefing but with 2 medical officers and the 2 security officers but you will come straight back afterwards”
As Simon completed his check up on a few members of staff who were claiming to be ill but Simon could find nothing wrong with them he arrived at Sickbay to find pandemonium had returned. “Ok what is going on?” Simon felt shouting now would not help, listening to the nurse report that not only was K’ratak shot without him being made aware of it but Commander McFarland had left. ‘well there goes my authority no one will listen to me now they will just follow John’s belief, ignore the doctor who is saying that you brain is on the verge of becoming a small bomb’ quickly finding out what had happened and to check on K’ratak’s condition Simon heard a nurse say that Cadet Blakus was awake and wanting to see him. Picking up a tricorder Simon checked that T’Bel had done everything they could do, ‘silly she is a Vulcan’ when he finished he stated his conclusion “well it seems he was hit by an enormous energy weapon, disabling his entire nervous system. It was a good thing you started having his heart and lungs controlled by the machines if you had not he would have eventually stopped breathing on his own.” Simon checked and until the energy dissipated there was little more they could do.
Walking over to the cadet’s bed Simon took a seat before waking the cadet “Cadet, I hear you want to leave Sickbay, in your present state I would give you 10 minutes before you found yourself on the floor completely drained of energy. Your body has repaired to much damage to be active for a while, but I do not see why you can not have work brought to you and be in the loop. Just no leaving Sickbay, and in 2 or 3 days I will let you return to your quarters, but you will not be up to your full strength for at least 2 weeks.” While Simon waited for Andae to respond he sent a quick message to one of the nurses to bring the cadet some food. “Well, I am happy that you will listen to me, better than someone else I know. I will have some food brought over to you as you will need it if you plan to work today” Simon smiled before moving away to check on the only other patient in sickbay.

“Cadet, I hear you want to leave Sickbay, in your present state I would give you 10 minutes before you found yourself on the floor completely drained of energy."
Blakus had been startled awake by the doctor, he'd only just fallen asleep. Hearing what the doctor said he sighed and cursed under his breath. "It's just so frustrating Doctor. I need to get back to my station..." he protested as Barnes shook his head and interrupted,
"Your body has repaired too much damage to be active for a while," he said. But he went on, "But I do not see why you can not have work brought to you and be in the loop. Just no leaving Sickbay, and in 2 or 3 days I will let you return to your quarters, but you will not be up to your full strength for at least 2 weeks.”
Two weeks! Blakus' training would be pretty much over by then, and assuming he graduated, would make it a hinderance while he transitioned into the fleet. He could not refuse the man however, after all, he seemed like a good doctor, and fair. "OK Doc. 2 or 3 days then," he gave in. He'd left the sentence vocally unfinished, that was because he thought the rest of it instead of saying it, but I promise you I'm aiming to get out before then. Blakus was annoyed that his own superiority complex forced him to see everything as a competition, it was his refusal to accept others' judgements that led to such mysterious behaviour.
"Well, I am happy that you will listen to me," Barnes said. "Better than someone else I know. I will have some food brought over to you as you will need it if you plan to work today” Simon smiled before moving away to check on the only other patient in sickbay.
Blakus noticed he still wore his combadge, he waited for Barnes' nurse to drift away and then he tapped it, =/\=Commander McFarland, this is Cadet Blakus=/\= he called in a slightly hushed voice. McFarland probably didn't know Blakus had woken up.

John witnessed Admiral Drew’s rant with admiration, the Admiral had said exactly what everyone was thinking. John did not expect a response from Hanson but it got the point across and seemed to lift a weight from the Admiral’s shoulders as he sprang into action and issued orders. Having only just assumed control of the ship, the Admiral seemed surprisingly up to speed.
“Get started,” Drew ordered, “you may use the full resources of this ship.”
“Understood, lets get it done cadets. What is our time frame for making your theory realisable?”
(Tag Keran/McLeod)
“Okay, I’ll be in Main Engineering making the preparations – contact me when ready.”
John left the Bridge and took the turbolift down to Main Engineering, whilst in the turbolift surrounded by medical and security personnel. He tapped his commbadge;
=^= McFarland to Barnes, I apologise for disobeying your orders Simon but I am needed – we are going to attempt to get back to our time. I am still accompanied by your medical team and once we are back I will return to Sickbay. If you feel the need to relieve me of duty, please wait until we are back to our own time. =^=
(Tag Barnes)
John exited the turbolift and arrived at Main Engineering, his engineers seemed to pause as he entered flanked by medics and security officers.
“Get on with your work, its nice to see you all too. We’re going to attempt the cadet’s plan to slingshot back to our time.”

OCC: Back post for the doctor so I can keep McFarland out of sick bay. I will miss you guys while I'm gone and I can't express how proud of each and everyone you I'am including my instructors. See you all Sunday night take care and Have fun.
"I understand you concern doctor, your my friend and I value that friendship very much. Thats why it pains me to have to do. But remember we are all star fleet officers and we all know that we may be asked to give our lives at any time if the need is great. Cadet Blackus is still in sickbay when he wakes up, He will help Commander Mcfarland. As I said it pains me to have to do this and it will be noted in my log. I'm the acting Captain of this ship Doctor, we are in a grave danger under which I can counter maned your orders and release Commander Mcfarland. I will of course keep my word about a medical team and security. Commander Mcfarland knows the risk that come with his uniform and will take them if the needed. As Captain Doctor your orders are now counter maned you may note your objections when we return. But trust me I have the authority and you know it Star fleet is very clear when faced with hostile forces and I think species 8472 and the Hanson count as such. You may go with Mcfarland if you wish and watch him your self. Please Doctor don't try and stop me on this I don't want security to have to escort you, you may note your objections to the admiral if you wish he's the only one aboard who can counter maned my orders."

"Admiral, Captain, we are receiving a hail from the Hepta," Elal reported, sounding none too happy about it.
"Put them through," S'reena ordered, against better judgement. She just wanted to hear what they had to say.
If this is how Starfleet Admirals now operate then this is one timeline I want nothing to do with”
S'reena not only saw his anger, but she felt it too. He had been mad, no furious at her before, but this sure topped all previous situations and it hurt her to the core. It hurt more than her friend Konal could ever understand, but she let Drew rant on, without saying a word. Her expression was neutral, almost Vulcan-like but her eyes showed the hurt she was experiencing at hearing his words.
“I thought you and Konal both understood what it meant to be Starfleet Officers, but clearly I was wrong, neither of you deserve to wear that uniform, and you have brought dishonour to the once proud name of Hanson."
Drew signed off before she could find her voice and respond. She shared a surprised look with Konal, then shrugged indifferently. "He doesn't know what we've been through," she whispered, "and he wouldn't understand that we're trying to help them."
"Ma'am!" Leonore Hansen cried from tactical, "the bioship is charging weapons, the Hepta too is charging up everything they got. And they're not just targeting the bioship."
S'reena turned to the half-Romulan tactical officer. "Raise shields and load the torpedo tubes. Get ready for a fight. Helm, move us between the Hepta and the bioship. Either will have to fire at us first before they can get at the other, call it a dare on who'll fire first."
There were gasps from all around the bridge, but S'reena wouldn't hear of backing down. "I want to see what they're going to do. Hold your fire until I tell you to fire! They got a bright bunch on there, perhaps they can get home without our intervention. Have sickbay stand by with that memory wiping antigen, but don't beam it over until absolutely necessary. Wiping a memory is risky business, and we don't want to take unnecessary risk."

John was prepping the warp core and powered up ship systems, in particular power was being diverted to weapons and shields. Undoubtedly the Hanson and the bioships would both be able to detect Hepta’s heightened state of alert.
=^=Commander McFarland, this is Cadet Blakus =/\= he called in a slightly hushed voice. McFarland probably didn't know Blakus had woken up.
=^= Cadet Blakus? What, you’re awake then… I’m glad you’re back Cadet. =^= John replied.
=^= I'm awake sir, what's the situation? =^=
=^= We’re going to be attempting your slingshot manoeuvre Cadet, we’re connecting the cat with the warp core to give us a power boost. However, we have raised shields and weapons are standing by, the situation is getting tense, Hanson and the bioships are watching us closely. =^=
(Tag Blakus)
John tapped his comm. badge again, =^= McFarland to Park, shields are at 100% and power is being rerouted to weapons. I hope we won’t need them. =^=
(Tag Park)
John then contacted the Science department and Cadet McLeod,
=^= McLeod, we’re going to need the entity down here in Engineering, are you sure it’s not going to hurt the entity. I don’t want to hurt a sentient lifeform unless I’m sure it won’t damage it. =^=

Blakus absorbed the information, "Copy that sir, I'm afraid I am going to be out of action for 2-3 days. But I'll assist however I can from here. Would you keep me advised sir?"
<Tag McFarland>
With that the channel was closed. Blakus hoped he wasn't infringing on his instructor's job, there wasn't much more he disliked than to appear as a hinderance rather than a help. He had a quick glance around the sickbay to see if anybody had heard him, they probably wouldn't have minded anyway. He tried to think of something else to counteract the feelings of helplessness. Fortunately he didn't need to. The nurse from before came over with some food for the cadet. "Ahh, thankyou nurse," he said. He was incredibly hungry. I'm going to enjoy this Blakus thought as he sat up on his biobed. The nurse placed the food down and went to leave, "Oh one more thing nurse, would it be possible for my work on the Slingshot theory to be brought to me?" Blakus didn't want to aggravate the nurse, but she seemed completely understanding and went to fetch his work.
Blakus got eating his food, and was delighted when he found that he also had a cup of coffee. He sipped his coffee and had his work brought to him. He had a few looks over the padds, frowned over it a bit, typed some new information and put them down. Blakus' didn't realise but just eating and doing a minimal amount of work had tired him out again. He lay down and stared blankly at the ceiling, but sat back up. It soon occured to Blakus that he had entered one of his moods where he felt restless and tired at the same time.
He decided to indulge the former and picked up one of the padds again, it depicted the sun and a graphic of the Hepta approaching it. The angle of attack to the sun was crucial if they wanted to arrive back in the past at exactly the right time. Time displacement from the desired time increased exponentially in proportion with the error in attack angle. Blakus only hoped that whoever was controlling the helm and whoever was responsible in engineering would get it right. Damn! those thoughts frustrated him, it was one of those time where you just had to sit back and trust your colleagues to get the job done, not something easily done where Andae Blakus was concerned.

Tapping his combadge in kind +/\= Aye, Sir i have seen it just to inform you the chips we put in the phaser array at the start of this mission have boosted power to weapons. They stand at 215 for phasers and 250 for photons with no power drain to other ship systems."
<Tag McFarland>
As he turned to admiral drew Park saw the Hanson start to move in between them and the bio-Ship. "Sir the Hanson is moving in between us and the Bio-Ships and also powering weapons and Shields."
<Tag Drew>
As Park turned to McLeod and keran park said " I hope your ready i think we will have one shot at this." Park looked at the two Cadet and thought he saw a little fear in there eyes. "Look we will get thought this i think either Q will help or we will succeed on our own. I have faith in you both your skilled in your field."

Action was finally being taken, people moving so fast that Keran could hardly keep track of the situation. At the science station, there wasn't much she could do but listen to what was going on around here. A jolt of fear travelled down her spine as she heard that the Hanson was ready to fire on them, and she felt a moment of guilt at this dishonourable emotion, but it didn't take long to pull herself together. There was nothing wrong with feeling afraid, as long as she didn't allow her fear to control her.
Look we will get thought this i think either Q will help or we will succeed on our own. I have faith in you both your skilled in your field."
"Thank you," B'reca nodded to Park. It was clear that, given the time to get to know him properly, they could put aside their differences and work together. "Ainsleigh," she called over to her friend. "Are you ready for the manoeuvre? Because now would be a very good time."

The situation was beginning to become dreadful for the gung-ho marine. He was not used to standing around and posturing politically with a being such as Q, while being potentially threatened by what was supposed to be their kin.
The other problem, was, there wasn't enough action. Sure, keeping an eye on Admiral Drew was a very important job, and he was honored that he got to do it... but there wasn't anything to it; hanging out on the bridge, listening to talk that went into one ear and came out the other.
Howd started replaying the whole mission through his head, for lack of anything better to do.
First, they were thrown forward in time right in the middle of their training mission. The thrill of that, was, the Cadets would have some 'real' experience under their belt. The downside, and it was a major downside, was that they might not make it back alive to use the experience. He no longer envied the position of the Commanding Officer, and started to wonder if he wished to make those decisions himself. He was on this mission to gain the people skills necessary for command, but his own heart started telling him that he wasn't cut out for it.
Second, they find out Q is involved. The cat... that damned cat! Howd hated cats. They smelled bad, they scratched, hissed, and bit when you pet them. Howd never got along well with cats, or any other creature resembling a cat. Ironic as it was, he didn't care for independent animals. One could say that he was an independent animal himself, and perhaps saw a reflection of himself in such beings. Whatever the case may be, cats were outright loathed.
Now the Hanson could be posturing to shoot at them... or perhaps defend them. Future Admiral battling against current Admiral.... actually, more along the lines of current Admiral battling against past admiral... it was going to be the battle of the wits. Howd had never met Commander Hoper, now Admiral Hope, prior to this, so he did not know here disposition. His experience with Admiral Drew, though, gave him a bit more comfort. Whether he knew it or not, he exemplified the thought process of a marine, with the finesse of a regular Starfleet officer. He envied the Admiral's disposition.
Now the battle of wits ensued. Howd watched, concerned, but mostly amused, at the games and tactics deployed. While he wished he were in some actionable situation, this was second best. Hopefully the Hepta would not be destroyed. He didn't mind if it stayed in this time, however. He had no ties to his past life, being a loner and all. All he could do was wait and see.

Drew watched the tactical situation on the command screen, the dot representing the Hanson had indeed moved to position itself between the Hepta and the Bio-Ship. Their actions were exactly what Drew had been expecting, S’reena always allowed her emotions to cloud her judgment; his rant at her had driven her to once again try to prove herself and her loyalties. He had no doubt that she would not fire on the Hepta unless she had to, and now with the Hanson with the Hanson protecting them, species 8472 was no longer a threat.
“Maintain our current weapon status,” Drew ordered Park as he provided his tactical report, “keep them guessing about what we are going to do.”
“All hands, this is the bridge,” Drew said, activating the comm system, “assume battle stations and brace for impact.”
Looking to the viewscreen, Drew watched the Hanson as it moved closer. He had no doubt that at this very moment S’reena would be powering her own weapons and standing by for combat. She of course had the tactical advantage, not only was her ship more advanced, but she also had the full tactical database for the Hepta. To make matters even worse, she would also know Drew’s own tactics and thought process, which meant that it was time for some unconventional thinking.
“Cadets McLeod and Keran, begin the procedure.”
<let’s get this show on the road folks>

"Engineering reports the hyperspace transporters have modulated to pierce their shielding." Konal reported.
"Commander," Captain Manto asked Elal, "what is sick bay's current status." The Vulcan science officer was coordinating between medical and engineering, and gave his report.
"Everything is ready. It's still risky tho..." Elal was cut abruptly off by the nervous First Officer.
"I know the risks full well, Commander," She was thoroughly annoyed. She wasn't proud of what they were about to do, and neither was the Admiral, but it had to be done. Being constantly reminded of the risks and repercussions did not make their necessary job more comfortable.
"What is the status of the bio ship," Hope asked.
"They are still in a pinkish hue, tactical shows that energy levels are accruing on the side pods of the ship. It could be what we would consider a phaser bank, but we are unsure."
The situation was getting tense. The Hanson had just taken a more aggressive posture, and the bio ship was still appearing to power on weapons.
"How long until enough energy accumulates to have them fire something meaningful." Konal asked.
"At the current rate of capacitance, about thirty seconds." Elal replied. "That is, if they are weapons." The fact that they were not powering on quickly, though, meant that they may not be. Either that, or they were powering up for a single powerful blow.
This was diplomatically and tactically a tough situation. Exactly what and whom they were protecting became fuzzy. Protecting the timeline was on top, but after that, protecting the Hanson from the Bioship... but then again the bioship was protecting their timeline too. The whole dynamics of the situation were daunting.
"Our torpedoes are ready, Admiral." Konal had been with the Admiral for a few years now, and she had the unfortunate privilege of fending off attackers with torpedoes before... but never against another Starfleet ship.
"Awaiting orders."
