Joan is happy to be back again, and wonders what has been going on here on the Starbase. She lets her feet do the walking only to find herself right outside the Starburst. She enters and finds a seat near a window. Usually she goes to the Bakery, but she didn't feel like that scene just yet, and wonders how long before she will be herself again. She looks around hoping to find a friendly face she knows, but alas she doesn't. The waiter serves her, and not too much later she has another meal infront of her with a nice drink to go with it. She wishes someone would find her, as she feels so out of place in that setting. Why do I feel this way? If only I could get back to my old self, where I'm not looking at those I don't know wondering if they will kidnap me or hurt me. Being in the Starburst back on the Starbase made her feel better than if she was on the Hanson. She realizes why as well.
"Good ol' home sweet home." She says aloud to no one in paticular. She takes a long sip of her sweet drink, and then dives into her meal. She wonders what everyone else is doing, and then decides to work of dinner in the holodeck with a little rock climbing. She hopes her mother can join her, but realizes that probably won't happen. That happens when you are the admiral's daughter. Get use to it kiddo. She thinks and then sighs.

After he left the graduation, Jason went to his quarters and changed his clothes. While changing into blue jeans and a short-sleeve black buttoned shirt, he thought of Joan and how little time they had spent together lately. He tapped a wall panel. "Computer, locate Joan McCormick."
"Joan McCormick is at the Starburst Restaurant," the Computer responded.
Glad she was there because he was hungry, he left his quarters and headed off in that direction, placing a black felt cowboy hat on as he went.
He found her there a few minutes later. "Hello my dear. May I join you?" he asked.

Katie walked into the Starburst. Although she enjoyed spending alot of time with both Paikea and William she wanted to take a moment and explose the starbase alone for a bit.
As she walked in she saw the room was full of cadets. She did however spot a lone female officer in back. Katie got up the nerve thinking this could be one of her instructors.
walking up the the woman she introduced herself, "Hello. My name is Katie Anderson. I just got here a couple days ago. Are you an instructor?"

She looks up at the woman, and smiles.
"Yes, I am an instructor. Please feel free to join me. I just got back from a mission, and don't feel comfortable being alone right now. I am Lt. Commander Joan McCormick. Who are you, and what position are you training in?" She says, and then a big guy in a black cowboy hat shows up, and she tries to resist the urge to laugh, but can't help it and burst out anyways.
"Let me guess, doctor, you are going to go cowboy on me now. Well I don't know if I would like that. Sit down hansome and buy us ladies a drink." She says smiling and winking at the hansome doctor. She remembers her new friend, and looks back in her direction waiting for her response.

Paikea had realized that eating so many milkshakes in a span of a couple minutes wasn't a good idea. He had a killer stomach ache. He wasn't going to go to the doc's office, because he felt that would make him seem weak which he didn't want to.
As he was leaving his quarters he passed by Katie's. He wanted to stop there, but realized that she may not be there or still sleeping. So Paikea decided to go get a drink somewhere. He really wanted some coffee, but didn't want to go back to the bakery. He had heard from his friend Matt Reynolds that the Starburst was a really cool place.
He had met Matt at a martial arts competition. He had lost to him in the semi-finals. Paikea was mad at Matt but came to realize that the best person had won. They had written to each other for the next couple of years. He had received a letter from Matt about a month ago. He told him that he had graduated from the Hanson as a Lt. and was now stationed as the COO of the USS Jefferson and that he was already a Lt. Commander
Paikea was jealous, but realized that Matt would always make a good officer and was happy for his friend.
As Paikea made his way into the Starburst he quickly recognized the back of Katie's head. He could tell that she was talking to someone and so he decided to go tentatively ahead.
"Hey Katie," Paikea said quickly.
"Hey Paikea," Katie said smiling. Paikea then realized who she was talking to and automatically went to attention.
"Cadet 4th Class Paikea ma'am," Paikea said.
"Hello Mr. Paikea, I'm Commander Joan McCormick," Joan said. Paikea had heard that name before, but he couldn't really remember. Then it hit him, it was Matt's old instructor.
"Yes ma'am I know who you are," Paikea said. Joan was surprised at that and Paikea went on to explain.
"You taught my friend Matt Reynolds, he told me a lot about you and your jokes," Paikea said with a smile.

"You certainly mind the cowboy when we were on horseback in the holosuite last time we were on the Station. Be back in a minute," he said and went to the bar. "Three of my usual," he told the bartender and was given three glasses of orange juice a minute later.
He returned to find a male Cadet at attention.
Jason came over placing down the tray. "At ease Cadet, before you sprain something," he said after he sat down.
The young man looked puzzled. Then Jason remembered he wasn't in uniform. "Oh sorry. Don't let the outfit fool you. Doctor Jason Black, Chief Medical Officer of the Hanson. I too remember Mr. Reynolds."

"Who are you, and what position are you training in?"
Katie sat down next to the Lt. Commander.
"My name is Katie Anderson, I hope to be training in the operations section. I just got here a couple of days ago so I don't have my orders just yet, so it might change. I hope it doesn't."
Katie watched as a man in a large black cowboy had walked past her. She heard Commander McCormick say something to him.
"Who is he?" She asked, "He's cute."
Just then Paikea came walking into the area.
Hey Katie," Paikea said quickly.
"Hey Paikea," Katie said smiling. Paikea then realized who she was talking to and automatically went to attention.

Paikea found it strange that a man here at the starbase was wearing a cowboy hat.

Paikea found it amusing that Matt was still remembered here. He always did leave an impression on people. Paikea made a note to remember to tell Matt that he was still missed and loved at the academy.
"I make sure to tell him that sir," Paikea said as he sat down a the table.

Joan heard the new cadet, and also Katie's remarks. She wasn't sure about that last one the other girl made.
"Dr. Jason Black. I agree that he is cute, and I would know. Mr. Paikea, you may join us if you like. I am sure the good doctor won't mind." She says, and then Jason returns with the drinks. She chuckles at the doctor's remarks while shaking her head.
"Oh I suppose if he is going to hurt himself, then yes I agree, Jason, he should relax his stance. So Paikea what field are you studying in? Katie, what brings you to Star Fleet?" She says hoping to get the conversation going. As the doctor sits down on the other side of her, Joan grabs his hand.

"Katie, what brings you to Star Fleet?" She says hoping to get the conversation going.
"Well, my entire family has been involved with Starfleet for as long as I can remember. So now it is my turn to join up. I actually chose to come to Section 47 because I wanted to some serious exploration of unknown space. I felt I could get that here rather than on Earth. My mom was pretty upset when I told her that."
Dr. Black handed Katie a glass of orange juice.
"Thank you." Katie said.
As the doctor sits down on the other side of her, Joan grabs his hand. Katie felt really embarrassed about her comment about the doctor after watching Joan grab his hand. It was probably clear to the crowd that her face was bright red with embarrassment.
Trying to change gears Katie quickly asked a question, "How long have you two been here at this starbase?"

"How long have you two been here at this starbase?" Katie asked. She seemed embarrassed for some reason.
Jason felt the warmth of Joan's hand in his, and squeezed hers, then looked over and winked. He then turned back to the Cadet.
"How long have I been on the Starbase? Let's see. It's just past a year for me I believe. I transfered here from Earth after completing my Medical Degree, in order to complete my Starfleet training. I was asked to be an Instructor immediately upon graduation, amazingly enough. My training mission wasn't the most pleasant, but I won't describe it as parts were rather disturbing."

Daya had left his room and upon walking past the starburst, he spotted Doctor black, in a black cowboy hat, and the science offficer, Joan McCormick. He decided had time before he left to stop and say hi, but only for a few moments.
He walked in from behind the doctor, and caught the tail end of the conversation "My training mission wasn't the most pleasant, but I won't describe it as parts were rather disturbing."
Daya chuckled as he placed his hand on the doctors shoulder, and laughed at him. "Well, Doc, i wouldnt say it was to bad, i mean yeah i was in sickbay like 4 times, but hey, you got me fixed up and good to go"
<BLACK>
Daya noticed the two Cadets at the table, and introduced himself. "Ensign Daya, security, i was part of the Hanson a few hours ago."
<katie, Paikea>
"good to meet you two, hope your mission doesnt get you shot, and blown up, and tackled, and get you a concussion" Daya listed his events in a monotone, trying to get a laugh out of someone.

"Well, my training mission was something else, and then the graduation ceremony. I don't think that happens to just anyone. I have been here about six months, and am totally loving it." Joan says, and then notices Daya heading over. She smiles at the doctor's newest actions returning the squeeze. After Daya introduces himself and says 'hi' to the doctor, Joan groans at his joke about the last mission, wishing to forget the whole thing ever happened.

"Actually Cadet I was refering to my own training mission as a Cadet, not the training cruise we just completed. Though I remember Joan's as well, as I was already an Instructor on the Hanson at the time," he said, then looked at Paikea and Katie. "And in case you're wondering, yes I treated Daya for each of those injuries."
He smiled at Joan again, and let go of her hand. Sliding his chair closer to hers, he put his arm around her.

"He talks really fast, can you fix that Doctor?" Katie asked.
<Jason Black>
Katie looked at how Doctor Black and Commander McCormick were softly holding hands. She could feel the affection they had for each other. She looked back at Paikea hoping that one day she would be just as close to him as them.
"So, how long have you two been together? OH! How did you meet?" Katie said smiling reaching out touching Joan on the shoulder.

"you really, dont wanna know right now, not such a good time, considering how long ago it was, much of the events are still fresh in out minds"
Daya laughed in a joking manner as Katie suggested fixing his talking to fast. He noticed she kept looking at Joan and Jason's hands, interlocked together. He rolled his eyes to himself and kept his mouth shut.
'i was once that young' Daya thought to himself
"Well, i got to go, i need to catch my shuttle to get to the Jefferson, Me and Parsons were stationed there"

OOC: This is a joint post between Jason and myself.
"Good luck with your assignment, Daya, and tell Parsons I said hello." She says as he departs. She remembers the question posed to her and Jay, and just smiles contemplating the answer.
"Well, Jay and I met here in the Starburst. Right dear?" She says nudging him while still smiling.
Jason nodded. "That's right. I was an Instructor by this point, and was walking along the Restaurant district, when I saw this female Cadet sitting by herself seeming kind of lonely, so I went over and introduced myself."
"Well I didn't know much of anyone at that point. I just got here, and I had only met my mom. She was busy elsewhere, and I wanted to view the station. It was luck, I believe, that brought us together." She says still smiling. "Oh, and I do believe it has only been four months. Wow, it feels like it should be longer." She says leaning into him a little.
Jason picked up the story. "Indeed it does. How it really started between us was a little holodeck tour I decided to give her. She hadn't seen much of earth so I decided to give her a tour of my favorite locations."
"That was a tour I will never forget. I think we should talk of something else though. Tell us something of yourselves." She says changing the topic.

Katie sat listening to the entire story hanging on every word. Since she was a little girl Katie always hoped of finding that perfect man. Her mother had turned her onto those romance novels, Katie read them in her spare time.
They are so lucky, Katie thought to herself.
"It was luck, I believe, that brought us together." Joan said
"Oooh," Katie Said softly.
Katie felt Paikea's hand on her shoulder, she straighted up in her chair and put her hand on top of his.
"Tell us something of yourselves." Joan said changing the topic.
"Well, Paikea here was kind enough to swoop in and help me out on my first day on the starbase. I was standing in the bakery sort of looking around for anybody I might know when out of nowhere he came and introduced himself and his friend William. Ever since then we have been hanging out alot."
Katie finished up talking to look back and smile at Paikea.

Just as Daya left the party, S'reena maneuvred her hoverchair into the Starburst. She was becoming reasonably adept now at maneuvring around without bumping into things, but there was still nothing like walking in her own two feet. Sadly, that was out of the question for now.
She noticed a few fellow crewmembers sitting at a table, accompanied by a few unknown youngsters. "Hello," she greeted them, "would you mind if I joined you?" S'reena waited patiently for them to make a little room for her, and she smiled in gratitude as someone even got up to assist her. "Thank you," she said, "so.....what's today's topic?"

Joan noticed S'reena Hope join them, and smiled.
"Well we were just making small talk. What have you been up to lately?" She says still smiling, and then notices a small crowd has gathered not too far away. The good doctor leaves to see how he can be of assistance. She looks over hoping things are alright there.
"I heard a rumor about you commander. Mind if I ask about it here, or would you rather do that later when it is just us?" She says still smiling remembering what she heard.

S'reena glances up at the teenage instructor pondering on what the question might be, then smiles and nods. "You may ask it here commander," she says, "however depending on the question I'll decide then if I answer it in public or in private."
yet, S'reena has a hunch what the question could be about and doesn't dread it at all. After the ordeal at the hands of the Romulans, members of her own species, she didn't think that there was much else to fear. Not if one has feared for one's own life and that of one's family.
S'reena maneuvered her means of transportation a little closer to the table, to reach for the drink the waitress had just set down for her, but to her chagrin found that she just couldn't reach it. Questioningly, she glanced up at Joan. "Commander, would you mind terribly...?" she queried, and when she received her drink she leaned back. "So, what did you want to ask?"

She smiles trying to not make the commander nervous, and it looks like it works. She notices the drink, and when asked about it, happily hands it to the older woman wondering what it might be she is drinking. She doesn't ask about it though.
"I heard about you possibily being pregnant. Is that rumor true? If so, then do you know what you are having?" She says a little nervous at asking this, but decides not to show those feelings, instead wanting to seem daring. She hopes it works.

Now, S'reena laughs heartily. "Yes the rumours are true," she replied, sipping her drink carefully, "however it's still a little early to determine what I am going to have. After two daughters, I am actually hoping for a son, but another daughter would be equally welcome." She pauses to sip her tea again. "How about you, are the rumours that are flying around about you and Doctor Black true?"
<Joan>
She smiles at the cadets that are still at the table. "Commander McCormick and I have served together on the Hanson," she explains, "and she's also saved my life a couple of times." Then she leans into Joan and whispers, with a massive smile on her face: "after you've gotten me into trouble first eh?" She pokes the younger woman between the ribs, wincing as she overstretches the muscles that hold her own ribs together. "Oh smart move S'reena," she mutters, rubbing her torso.
She gazes around the table, wondering just who are sitting there, and where they'll be going to do what exactly.

Stepping out off the airlock, Paul Drew was immediately caught up in the atmosphere of the station. Everyone he looked was a sea of different colours, as the many races of the Federation all came together in one place, and being assigned to the Academy, there was plenty of youngsters about the place. Usually when there were this many Cadets, and junior officers around him, they would be saluting, or in some cases trying to avoid his look. But dressed in his civvies no one had any idea he was actually a Starfleet Admiral.
Finding his way to the information burro he made arrangements for some quarters at the Starbase, the nice young lady at the desk informed him that someone would see to his luggage being transferred there. Signing the lease agreement he thanked her, and made his way to what appeared to be a café of some kind. The sign along the entrance informed him it was called “Starburst,” and it seemed packed with Starfleet Officers, a few of whom he recognised from reading the Hanson personnel files during transit.
Ordering a light refreshment from the bar, Drew made his way over to the largest group, he did this for a simple reason, he had spotted the Hanson’s First Officer at the top. He had met her once before many years ago; he was interested to see if she would recognise him out of uniform.
“Excuse me,” he said politely, “would you mind if I join you?”

S'reena looked up from her quiet conversation with Joan and grinned broadly. "Admiral!" she exclaimed, "I see you're back. Here to stay this time or just coming around for a visit?"
She chuckled as she extended her hand to him. "Do mind the grip sir, hand's a little sensitive at present. Commander McCormick, meet this section's menace, Rear Admiral Paul Drew. Before his own ship got decommissioned, he used to win every inspection in the fleet. Before he had also been assigned as Hanson's CO but he mysteriously disappeared. Seems he's decided to resurface now."
The Romulan first officer motioned to the nearest vacant chair and moved her own hoverchair aside a little to let him pass. "Sit, sit," she urged, "my neck is starting to hurt from having to look up to you! How've you been admiral?"
