Even though Nicole was half Klingon she still had her fighting instincts and today she was in the mood to spar with someone, but who? she walked into the Promanade, and since she was new, she didn't reconize any faces. At home, on Dorvan V, she always could find a fighting partner, but here it seemed more complicated. "I guess I could just go in a holosuit," she thought to herself, "but what fun would that be?" At that moment someone walked up to her.

"I see you've booked a holosuite," S'reena called, walking up to her. SHe was now so far that she could walk decently for 3 hours in a row, but still needed the support of her hoverchair for the remainder of the day. "Fancy some company?" she enquired, as she leaned against the holodeck's door post, "planned anything exciting by any chance?"
She gazed at the cadet expectantly, as she continued to lean agains tthe door post. She really hoped the cadet wouldn't turn her away, she felt like having some company, other than the other instructors. S'reena felt a little of a burden to them, and also felt as if she were always provoking them into arguments with her.

Certainly, Commander, but why would you want me as your company and not your other fellow instructors?" she asked bluntly, but respectful, as only a Klingon, or part-Klingon, could manage.
It must be her inner Klingon acting up again. Sometimes it worked to her favor and sometimes not, she hoped this was a time it wouldn't get her in trouble.
"Besides," she added with a mischievious grin, "I would think I would be boring compared to the adventures you and the others (the other high ranked officers) probably have had."

ooc: This is me S'reena on my primary account, but I was in a little hurry...if you want me to, I'll copy it to my S'reena account when I get home this afternoon.
ic: "I doubt that," S'reena grinned right back at the younger woman, "generally my free time is more adventurous than many can handle. I need a challenge. Oddly enough, the last time I had a real holodeck challenge, my daughter Yarna decided to get born also."
She gazed past the cadet for a moment. "Besides," she added, "since when do Klingons pass up an opportunity to be challenged? I may be a little disabled due to an accident, and I may be four months pregnant, but that does not stop me from my general activities and training. Ask anyone, they were having quite a hard time stopping me the last time I was pregnant, or badly injured. Call it pride, call it stupidity, however you like; I can't change who I am."
She locked gazes with the cadet again. "So, how about it cadet? And don't you dare holding back anything just because I am an instructor. When we enter that holodeck, you leave rank at the door, understood?" She waited to see whether the cadet would respond traditionally, or would now start calling her by her first name as soon as they would enter the holodeck. She didn't expect to be respected, as she reckoned respect was earned and not given, and she was used to it anyway. Yet she'd seen this cadet was different, and not only because she was part Klingon. This one didn't react as she was used to from Klingons, when they saw her and generally saw only one thing: Romulan.

She tried to supress a laugh, but failed. She could learn alot from this commander. "Your absolutely right, a true Klingon would never back away from a challenge, even if it's a friendly one," she answered, eyes beaming with mirth, "but, I apologize, my parents pounded into my head to always respect my elders, and in doing so shall gain respect in turn. I kind of feel dirty if I don't give my superiors the proper respect their due," she continued, her face growing serious.
"The program I was going to run was my version of the Roman Empire. The arena is of the period, but the opponents, animals, and audience is from the present: Klingons, Humans, Orions, you name it," she said, describing it the best way that she could, "would that be challenging enough, or would you have a better one?" She wouldn't be suprized if the Commander did; she seemed to be an interesting woman.

"Roman Empire," S'reena mused, "that might be interesting. By all means, load it up." She smiled encouragingly at the cadet. "Might be fun too. So, what will our role be in your program? Will we be professional gladiators, or poor victims of the regime captured and forced to fight. Or will we be something else."
She rather dreaded the first two options. While always game for exercise, right now that wasn't really an option for her. Not in her current physical state, though mild training was encouraged.

copied from "heather on the hill"
Just as S'reena and the klingon/human cadet were about to enter the holodeck, Rear Admiral Paul Drew came stalking towards them, his expression bordering on anger. He was holding on tightly to a PADD, the joints on his fingers were showing white from the force with which he was holding on to the thin electrical item. If he would issue any more pressure, it might snap in two.
"Uh-oh," S'reena whispered at the cadet, "this can't be good." The two of them waited until Drew had neared them, and S'reena decided to pretend she hadn't noticed his mood. "Why good afternoon admiral," she greeted him, smiling mildly at him, "is there anything I can do for you?"
<Drew>
"Oh I see. Well, with being stuck in sickbay for several days not being allowed to move much, and then being told to stay off duty by the medical staff, I haven't really gotten around to updating the shift roster," S'reena said defensively, and snatched the PADD from his hand, tucking it into the waistband of her jogging pants. "But as soon as I have finished my exersize with cadet Soaringstar, I will get right on it."
Then she winked at the cadet. "Cadet Soaringstar, how would you feel about Admiral Drew joining us in your program? Instead of one of us being a damsel in distress, he could be ah....the uhm..." She trailed off, raising an eyebrow at the cadet. "Well....he could be the ah..damsel in the distress, for lack of a male variant of the word."
<Soaringstar>
S'reena grinned at Soaringstar, and saw Drew frown from the corner of her eyes. She hooked her arm through his, and motioned for Soaringstar to do the same. "No arguements admiral," she said, "I'm sure Ms Soaringstar will be thrilled to use her ah.....powers as security officer in training. Won't you cadet? See it at a drill admiral, and a sort of training for Ms Soaringstar."

Soaringstar was a little uncertain what to do, but did as the Commander signaled and guided, part pulled the admiral through the holosuit doors. "Absolutely," she said grinning, looking in the admiral's direction, "who knows, you might come out in one piece."
As the doors opened, it revealed the battle arena, but nothing else. Nicole finally let the admiral go, " What difficulty level should we start at, do you think?" she asked, "this is the first time I have actually used this program, so probably level seven would do the job."

Drew looked from S’reena to Soaringstar as the two led him into the holodeck. He had no idea what he was being led into, but he had the distinct feeling he wouldn’t like it. He was still annoyed with S’reena for neglecting her duties, and in truth didn’t feel like taking part in a holo-simulation, but S’reena had tricked him. He couldn’t back out of a “training” exercise for a Cadet, no matter what tricks had been played on him. Taking a very deep breath, Drew allowed himself to be led into the holodeck.
Drew was surprised to see a large roman style arena; all around the stadium were crowds and crowds of people, all from different species, who were cheering loudly. In the centre of the arena was a large balcony, where two figures sat, covered in white cloth and gold. “Commander, after this we need to have a little talk,” Drew said through gritted teeth, as he looked down at the costume the holodeck had given him, “make that a big a talk.”
“Now you know the rules,” S’reena said a smirk on her face, “rank is left at the door on the holodeck.”
“Which is why I said after this,” Drew replied, as he was led further into the arena.

"Yes, I believe a level seven would do for a simple training," S'reena agreed, taking note of the light resistance Drew was giving to him being ushered into the holodeck. She knew she probably hadn't heard the end of it just yet, but right now they had a cadet to pay attention to.
"After this training then," S'reena sighed, wondering why he hadn't responded to her apollogy, and her very valid reason for not having attended to the crew schedules just yet. "Or you could just yell at me now and be done with it."
<Drew>
She turned her back on Drew and gazed at Soaringstar. "This is your program, what do we do now?" she asked, still ignoring Drew, "do we join the spectators, or the others?"
<Soaringstar>
"Personally, I think we should join the spectators for now. I'm in no condition to fight anything anyway."

Hannah finished unpacking her stuff and decided to head to the holosuite to relax.
As she walking around the corner towards the holosuites, she noticed Soaringstar, S’renna and Drew entering one holosuite. She decided to join them and ran up the corridor to catch up with them and enter the holosuite after them. She found herself stood in a large Roman arena.
She walked up to where the other were standing.
“Am I alright to join you?” she asked uncertain whom to direct the question to.

"Please do, my friend!" she said in a welcoming voice to hannah and then turned her head to Commander S'reena, "You and and Admiral Drew are welcome to join the crowd, but I came to stretch my muscles, not stand around like I do at the Academy most of the time," her inner Klingon speaking up again. She returned her gaze to hannah, " Would you like to join me in the exercise or will I have to fight my opponents alone," she said in mock seriousness.

"Oh no!" S'reena exclaimed, "I'm not going to join the crowd just like that! I came here to join the exercize, just like you." She turned to Hannah. "What about you?"
<Hannah>
She glared at Drew, who was just about to open his mouth. "And you're going to join us too. How about me and you against both cadets?"
<Drew/Soaringstar/Hannah>
"Well, that settles it then. Ms Soaringstar, please tell us what you had in mind with this program." She gazes at the part Klingon cadet, watching her expectantly. Before either cadet can reply, though, a group of male gladiators marches up to them and two of them grab Drew on either side and start dragging him off, all without saying a word, or even glance at the three women.
"Well, I'll be," S'reena started, then gazed at the two cadets. "We've got to rescue him, obviously. But how?"

“Sure, I’m here for the exercise,” she said not willing to turn down the challenge.
She nodded and turned to soaring waiting for her response.
She then watched as the two gladiators dragged Drew off. She glanced at the two women stood beside her.
“We need to follow, then discretely to see where they’re taking him,” suggested Hannah, “Then we can scan the area and come up with a plan.”
The three women headed off after the gladiators quickly so they didn’t lose them. They watch from a distant as Drew tried to struggle free from the gladiators’ grips with little success.

" "After this training then," S'reena sighed, wondering why he hadn't responded to her apollogy, and her very valid reason for not having attended to the crew schedules just yet. "Or you could just yell at me now and be done with it." <Drew> “Not infront of the Cadets,” Drew said, “we will speak after this.” S’reena glared at him, and then turning her back to him, turned her attention to the two Cadets. Drew knew the Romulan first officer preferred to deal with situations straight away, and disliked leaving matters unresolved, but Drew had no intention of getting into an argument with her on a holodeck. As the three females discussed the various options for the game, Drew spotted a group of aggressive looking men heading there way. He was just about to point this out to the others when two of the men grabbed him on either side. Shocked, Drew was slow to respond to the action, and before he knew what was happening, he was being dragged away from the others. Drew tried to struggle free, but too many years sat behind a desk had slowed his reflexes, realising resistance was indeed futile in this case, Drew could only hope one of the young women could save him. Suddenly his captors threw him forward, trying to get back up on his feet; Drew was shoved back down to the floor. Another large gladiator approached, with a long chain in his hands, with an evil grin on his face, he tied the chain around Drew’s arms and legs. Then lifting the Admiral up, he connected the chain to a large wooden platform, the result being Drew now dangled in the air, arms and legs both tied. I’ll get you for this S’reena Drew thought to himself, as the crowds around him laughed and cheered. A large roar behind him caused Drew to try to turn his head. He soon realised this was a bad mistake, as he now started to spin around, it was on his second spin he saw the source of the roar. There was a pack of lions in an iron cage just behind the wooden crane, each one looking hungrier then the other. “Wonderful,” Drew muttered to himself, as he spun round yet again, “just wonderful…”

"I agree," S'reena nodded, then glanced at Soaringstar. "Any suggestions cadet?" she asked, "you're the security expert among the three of us. I fear that I have little experience in dealing with security matters, other than being kept at the wrong side of a force field."
<Soaringstar>
S'reena gazed into the distance, following the trail the gladiators had taken when they had dragged their commanding officer away. "Good thing the safeties are on," she muttered, "otherwise we'd be in real trouble." She looked up at the two younger women. "Right, let's get going. Soaringstar, please lead the way. Stevenson, keep an eye on his readings. Don't mind me if I fall behind, just keep going. We must rescue him at all cost!"
<Soaringstar/Hannah>
The Romulan looked around, and her eyes fell on a rather large stick, that was fairly straight. She picked it up, and grimaced ever so slightly when she straightened. At least now she had some support, as she knew this was going to be a bit of a hike, with possible battle. She had no phaser on her, just her ritual blade, and now she had a stick.
"I'm sorry," she muttered. She hadn't missed the nasty look he's shot her just as she'd seen them drag Drew off. "Right," she spoke up, "ready? Let's move!"
<Hannah/Soaringstar>
ooc: Soaringstar, as this is your ah...program.....take it where you like, Drew and I will follow where you want us to go. (right admiral?) Hannah, if you got ideas, feel free to add them:)

"They know we are going to come after him," she replied in a quieter voice, "so it is pretty reasonable to say they have a trap for us as well. I'll destract the glatiators; you two, keep alert. I have a bad feeling that their "trap" is going to be wild and savage."
She ran ahead toward the glatiators and the admiral, her senses on full alert, her heart beating like the war drum. She stopped right behind the largest of the admiral's hazers. "Gladiators must be the weakest and honorless men in Rome to beat up an old man in chains," she mocked bravely, her eyes blazing, "if any of you have any honor at all you would face me like a warrior, but most likely you'll run and hide under the robes of your empereor like frightened children."
They came at her yelling curses and screaming in rage. The only weapons she had was her warrior knife, her father made her, and her honor, fighting for her life. One of the warriors, the ugliest among them, gave her a nasty cut on her leg, and then Soaringstar realized something..."Free him now!!" she yelled, then slicing the man's stomach.
The one thought that crossed her mind was, "the safeties are off."
oc: I plan to make this where we hav to beat the program to get out of the holosuit, but any ideas are fully welcomed.

Hannah moved off watching as soaringstar engaged the gladiators. There were cheers from the audience as they watched her fighting. S’reena and Hannah moved towards Drew as the gladiators were currently distracted.
As they came closer to Drew, they heard a loud roar from the audience. A group of gladiators came out of nowhere and surrounded the two of. It was a trap as soaringstar had suggested.
The gladiators moved in closer and closer to the two them stood in the centre with smiles on their faces knowing that they had trapped them and the gladiator plan had worked. Hannah turned to S’reena unsure what to do.

Soaringstar saw mor glatiators entering the arena and circling around S'reena and Hannah. As she finnished off her last enemy she took his fallen axe and slung it at one of the glatiators who was about to lay a fatal strike on her friends. It got him square in the back and he fell aside giving them enough room to get free. Even though she was covered in blood and exausted she persued the new batch of glatiators with fire in her eyes, "Free the admiral!That is all that matters! she yelled, her voice revealing the urgency.
They ran over to the admiral and sliced his chains with another axe. He fell to the ground with lost strength, but S'reena and Hannah helped him onto his feet.
After killing one more opponent, Soaringstar screamed a war cry which echoed off the arena's walls. The men were taken aback and didn't advance. They probably believed she was crazy, which wasn't very far from the truth; she was in a war rage.
With that, the emereror stood up on his guilded balcony and put his hands up for silence and then clapped as few times, "You prisoners have impressed me," he said in a calm arrogant tone, "If you pass the trials I set before you, you may have your freedom; if not, you will die. Take them to their holding cell," he commanded the imperial guards down below.

"Oh dear," muttered S'reena as she held the admiral up. "Are you all right admiral?" she whispered, as they were herded to a block of cells. Not surprisingly, Drew was separated from them and thrown in a cell next to theirs. Apparently they didn't want men and women mingling, as Hannah, Soaringstar and herself were shoved none too kindly in another cell. But at least they were together.
S'reena gazed at the half-Klingon cadet. "You ok?" she asked, noting the minor injury. "Sit," she told the cadet, "you will need your strength. Hannah, make sure she does sit. Knock her legs from under her if you must, but sit she will." She shot a mock-glare at Soaringstar. "Don't give me that about Klingon strength, it's just being stubborn. And I know all about being stubborn."
<Soaringstar/Hannah>
She walked over to the side of the cell and knelt down beside Drew, who had crawled up to the bars as well. "You're in no shape to fight," she whispered at him, "and neither am I. However we must give our best to beat this program, and see if we can protect these cadets. Soaringstar has discovered that the safeties are either offline, or on a very low level. Can you stand?"

Hannah sat down next to soaringstar leaning back against the wall. She looked around the cell for any weakness in the structure or anything they could use to escape. Hannah watched Soaringstar out of the corner her eye she was restless unable to sit still. Soaringstar stood up.
“The commander told you sit down,” Hannah. Soaringstar just ignored her and headed to the bars at the front of the cell.
Hannah decided that ordering a Klingon wasn’t the best approach.
“You were amazing out there,” she commented to soaringstar trying to get her attention.
<soaringstar>
A group of gladiators opened the door entered the cell.
“That’s enough rest,” one of them said, “It’s time for your next challenge.”

S'reena rose to her full height as the gladiator stepped in. She was still two heads short of his full height but that didn't bother her much. "Two of my companions are injured," she retorted, "it won't be a fair fight." She neglected to announce her own injuries, but she knew that it was herself before Admiral Drew anyday, and she felt she had to make up to him somehow at that.
<soaringstar as gladiator?>
She glanced back at Drew, who was still lying in the sand, and Soaringstar, who glared back at her. ~half Klingon or not~ S'reena thought ~you're not going to fight while you're injured. No matter how much Klingon honor is involved~ "Ms Stevenson, make sure that Ms Soaringstar stays where she is. My orders stand."
<Hannah>
Glaring back defiantly at the gladiator, she bared her teeth at him. "We're not going to fight yet," she told him, "not until my companions are cared for, and regained some of our strength. Surely you want a spectacle, not a slaughtering?"
<Gladiator>
Turning her back on the tall, muscled gladiator, she walked back to Drew. "How're you holding up?" she asked him, "will you be able to fight?"

(OOC: Hello everyone! S'reena asked me to join you to provide a challenge for you. I'll be taking the part of the gladiator mentioned.)
Apollus stood rigid, glaring at the impudence of this woman. He tossed his head back, throwing the cascade of black hair back behind his shoulders.
As he strutted forward, what little light there was in the cell fell across him, glistening off his sweat-covered, well-developed muscles, grown large from the weight-training he had done all of the 20 years of his life. The light also glared off the metal armor he wore on chest, and parts of his arms and legs.
"How're you holding up? Will you be able to fight?" she asked the weak, frailing-looking old man in the corner.
"He had better," Apollus growled in a deep voice. "Because you will all be doing so. You will be forced to fight each other. If you do not, I will kill you right here."
He gripped the metal sword at his waist, pulling it out of the sheath slightly.

Hannah didn’t like the idea of having to fight her other crewmates for the enjoyment of the audience. She had considered escape, but odds didn’t seem in their favour and if they failed they would be most probably be executed.
Apollus gestured with his sword for them to leave the cell and follow one of the other gladiators. They were lead down a long dark corridor toward an archway that lead out into the main arena. Hannah looked around as they walked mapping the area in her mind in case they did try an escape.
There was a huge cheer from the audience as the group were lead out into the arena. Hannah winced as the light blinded her. It took a few minutes for her eyes to adapt to the new light level.
Apollus grabbed Hannah and threw her to the floor next to Drew.
“You will fight him,” he instructed and then turned to the soaringstar and S’reena, “You two will fight each other.”
“If you do not entertain the emperor, I will kill you,” Apollus promised as he walked away leaving the four of them in the centre of the arena.

S'reena supported Drew into the arena, as Apollus gestured with his sword for them to enter it. "I don't like this," she whispered, not paying much attention to her surroundings.
Suddenly Drew was torn away from her, and she witnessed Cadet Stevenson being thrown towards him. She found herself facing Cadet Soaringstar, who seemed to be happy to be able to do something now. ~Klingons~ she thought idly ~always in for a fight. I'm sure she's having a ball, no matter how dire this situation is~
S'reena glared at Soaringstar, and then at Apollus. "I'm not fighting her," she declared, "or anyone for that matter." She shifted her balance, and fought back a wince as her muscled complained about the sudden weight shift. The Romulan gazed at Drew, who was still kneeling in the sand, and Hannah, who was looking equally stunned. "I'm not fighting," she said again.
