Tante Maria’s was undeniably Brelev's favorite places on Conquerer. It always smelled amazing and even at the dead of night, when most of the Base's population was asleep Brelev could come to visit the baker and enjoy some fresh goodies. Of course at the moment it was not night, but Brelev had been craving one of Marie's Cinnamon Bun since the Hanson left port several weeks ago.
"I'll have a Cinnamon bun and a latte please." Brelev requested as the young waitress, who Brelev suspected was the daughter of an officer, jotted down her order.
As Brelev waited for the young women to come back she stared out at the crowds heading to and fro, she always sat at this table because the wonderful view it had of the promenade. She was addicted to people watching. With any luck someone would join her.

Cadet Brian Johnson was making his way back to his quarters when he collided suddenly with a tousle-haired woman rushing the other way. He started, and stumbled a little, righting himself before the woman did. “Sor –” He began apologetically, but the woman cut right through him. “Cant you look where you going? How difficult is it to not walk into people?” She snapped feverently, a fierce anger spreading across her face. Cadet Johnson suspected he had just made her bad day even worse, and wasn’t about to answer back. As he struggled to find his saving words, he noticed that she wore the bottom half of a Starfleet uniform, but her top half comprised of a white shirt, half of which was tucking out from underneath her black zip-up jacket. When words finally failed him, the woman scoffed and pushed her way past him towards the Holodeck.
Once she rounded the corner, Xerin hastily tucked her shirt back inside her trousers. Your first day is no time to look untidy… she told herself. It probably ought to have been mentioned that ones premiere was also never a good time to bite cadets heads off, but it was a bit of a sore point. He would get over it. Looking a little more respectable, Commander Cole finally reached the opposite side of the deck without having found what she was looking for. Contrary to the belief that this would have increased her anger exponentially, in fact it seemed to do the opposite. Placated, the young woman turned on her heel and began to saunter back in the direction she had come. There was no use running around in circles looking for him, he would turn up eventually. Heading back towards the turbolift the young woman paused thoughtfully outside the confectionary that claimed itself to be ‘Tante Maria’s Bakery’. She had to admit, it smelt very good, and while she ought to be out searching, a teabreak couldn’t hurt. Besides, she hadn’t eaten since last night.
She stepped inside and placed her order. There were several other people queuing, so she decided to take a table and wait for her order to be delivered. Instead of sitting immediately the officer wandered towards the rear of the café and stood searching the crowds on the promenade deck below. “Hello.” Said a woman seated at the table behind her. Xerin rounded on her with shock. People didn’t tend to make a habit of chatting to her. “Hi.” She said plainly. Catching her glance for a second, the woman at the table did the smallest of double takes as she noticed the redheads brilliantly purple eyes. “You’re joining the Hepta crew aren’t you?” She asked conversationally. Xerin frowned. She didn’t like strangers knowing more about her than she did. “Yes. We’ll be leaving soon.” The woman seemed undeterred by her rudeness. “Would you like to join me?” She asked. Xerin took a quick look behind her. Considering the popularity of the bakery, it didn’t seem like a bad suggestion. She finally broke into a smile and took the seat offered to her. “I’m Brelev.” The woman said, holding out her hand. “Cole. Xerin.” She introduced herself military fashion, whilst accepting the handshake. Brelev watched with interest as Xerin’s eyes quickly scoured the floor of the bakery. “You haven’t seen a puppy have you? I’ve lost one…” She asked tentatively.

Brelev smiled. "That is why you look so distracted." she laughed. "I haven't seen anything resembling a terran Canis, although I have not been back on the station long. I would not worry too much if I where you, pets have a habit of running away around here, but being a Space station they can't go far. You could check with the Station Civilian center, I believe they have a place for found animals."
"I'm just worried I won't find him before the Hepta leaves." The women, Xerin Cole explained as she took a seat. Her stiffness told Brelev she was most likely instructing in something.... violent.
"I can look for you. I don't sleep and the Hanson is going to be docked for awhile. I really have nothing better to do." Brelev offered. "My late husband had a dog, some sort of mutt he picked up while on earth. I grew rather found of it.." her voice trailed off. "I am the Hanson's CMO and second officer."
"Your crew came in on that Bird of Prey didn't it?" Xerin asked.
"It did, and from what I've heard we caused a bit of a stir. It's a long story, but let's just say that I am not feeling very impartial towards Klingons at the moment." Brelev grinned. "Oh, there is my Cinnamon Bun, right here Larissa!" she called over to the waitress who brought the desert over accompanied by Brelev's latte. "So what is your post on the Hepta?"

Joan had been having a really good dream, when suddenly she was aroused by a strange noise. She ignored it and turned over. Suddenly something jumped on her bed, and licked her face. She opened her eyes ready to curse Leena.
"Computer, lights on," she said and noticed what the culprit was. She chuckled and got dressed taking the animal under her arm. She sighed and wondered who would have lost such a creature. Joan heard her stomach and sighed. She headed for the bakery, hoping her favorite baker was there, and wouldn't mind another animal in her bakery. ~She takes to Leena every time she visits the bakery. Why wouldn't she mind something a little different than my companion? Just who is missing you, sport?~ Joan thought and stepped inside noticing a couple women talking. Joan searched her memory, and remembered the one as the Hanson's CMO.
Not sure of the second woman, Joan searched further, then remembered they were getting new instructors for the Hepta. Joan got her treat and walked over.
"Good day ladies. Do you mind if my friend here and I join you?"
(Brelev and Xerin)
"Well now, I see. Your friend decided to pay Leena and me an visit. I just didn't expect a kiss in the middle of my nap," Joan said chuckling as she sat down. How are things on the Hanson? Do you look forward to the Hepta?" Joan said talking at first to the CMO then addressing the new woman.

just had to point it out doc........I think your bun may be a bit sandy and grindy if it's a desert! But alas if you like your desserts to be grinding your teeth and internals....who knows what Denobulans love for food.
Again sorry but this one was too good to pass up. *ROFL*

Konal, seeing two of her shipmates eating with some other officers, decided to enter Tante Maria's. Her wounds were healed. Her sonic shower was had. She was hungry.
Commander Hope was laughing maniacally as she passed by, apparently leaving after making what she felt was a hilarious joke.
Brushing off the sand that had accumulated on the table next to Commander Brelev's cinnamon bun, Konal sat down, forgetting to ask if it was OK first. The room was rather warm, even for a Cardassian... but it was a dry heat. She was growing tired. Konal ordered a water to cure her extreme thirst, and a dessert for her hungry stomach. Other than that, she just wanted companionship. She introduced herself to the others, fighting to keep the dog - who was now under the table - from nibbling on her ankles.

"So what is your post on the Hepta?" Brelev continued to make conversation as Xerin’s pastry arrived. She eyed it hungrily, and began to tear it apart viciously with her hands before stuffing it in her mouth. She hadn’t eaten for at least fifteen hours, and wondered if the doctor might tell her off for it. She waited until she had finished chewing before she answered. “Tactical and Security. Its not my original calling, but I’ve been assigned to a marine security protocol for the last twelve months so the position suited me.” She explained, careful not to disclose exactly what she might have been up to for the last year. People didn’t need to know about that. Yet. Both woman paused while they finished up their desserts. “You don’t sleep you say?” Xerin asked when her plate was clear. Brelev nodded, taking a sip of her coffee at the same time. “Hmmm. When I was on recon on Thias nine, we met a man that would only sleep outside…” she said absently. Brelev could see her visually struggling to remember the details. “Of course, caused a few problems once we got him on the ship mind…” She added with a smirk. Brelev appeared interested. “Really? What did you do with him?” Xerin shrugged. “Stuck him on the holodeck mostly, made it feel like he was outside. Either that or the promenade deck, so he could pretend…but occasionally he did like to go out onto the saucer section…” she remembered fondly. “He used to sleep outside the ship. Literally?” That had to be very strange. Xerin merely nodded, as though it was something people did all the time.
The two officers ceased talking once more as their table was approached by yet another new officer for Xerin to meet. Wow, I’m popular today… she thought to herself silently. The woman smiled kindly at Brelev and not quite so at Xerin. "Good day ladies. Do you mind if my friend here and I join you?" she asked, nodding towards her feet where a bundle of grey fur was peering around her ankles. Xerin practically knocked over her chair in her haste to get up. “WOLF! Why you little –” The security officer called the puppy something that would have made her mother shut her away for a week. Noticing the shocked expression on the faces of the other two, she bit her lip. “Sorry, I just…I thought I’d lost him…” She said, scooping up the puppy by the scruff of his neck and dangling him in front of her. "Well now, I see. Your friend decided to pay Leena and me an visit. I just didn't expect a kiss in the middle of my nap," Joan said as she helped herself to a spare seat at the table. “How are things on the Hanson? Do you look forward to the Hepta?" she said, questioning both woman at once. Lex frowned as the puppy started to chew on her shoelace. She chose to answer first, as Brelev was presently finishing her drink. “I was looking forward to it, yes, but I dread to think what this little menace is going to get up to.” She rolled her eyes as she pushed the dog from under the table with her foot. He slid across the floor on his slippery paws and looked up at her with large, unblinking eyes. It was difficult to be angry with him when he stuck his ears out and looked so innocent.
The other two women couldn’t help but smile at him. The hard nosed security officer definitely had a soft spot for the canine, whatever she might say to the contrary. It seemed that Wolf had attracted more than just their attention, as yet another officer stepped up to join them. As the woman introduced herself, Xerin decided it must have been the bakery that was popular, rather than their particular table, because she had seen more people in the last five minutes that she had when she had been searching the starbase, At least I know where to come when I’m bored… she mused quietly. She introduced herself politely to the Cardassian woman, before allowing the other three to drop into conversation about their just completed mission. Although she was interested, Xerin found it hard to pay attention. She would be leaving these people behind in just a few days time, and wondered if she might meet any of the Hepta crew before they departed.

(O.O.C Thank you for that S'reena now I can't go change my post, or you and Konal will look like fools) Tactical and Security So Brelev was right, that had never been an area that interested her. "So, this is the little prodigal." she laughed, giving the puppy a playful scratch behind the ears. "Seems like a friendly fellow, he probably went out looking for friends." "Well, he found some." Joan smiled. "It's nice to see you again Joan, what have you been up to besides returning runaways?" Brelev asked, finishing off her latte and starting on her cinnamon bun. The dessert was drier then she recalled, she would have to check in with Maria later on. <Tag Joan> "You are looking much better then when I first met you Konal." Brelev turned to the older Cardassian women. "I hope you where not hoping for a relaxing teaching job when you came here. I had been hoping for something a little calmer when I first arrived, but soon learned that the Hanson can be as risky as any other ship in the Fleet." <Tag Konal>

Joan chuckled. "I don't think that is one of Maria's original recipe's. I know I wouldn't eat it. Maybe Leena would. Lately its been a lot of overseeing to Starbase technical stuff. Sometimes I get to come and chat with old friends, and sometimes I get to meet new people. Life on the base is never boring, especially when finding run aways. How are things on the Hanson?" Joan said, and noticed another new friend walk in. She chuckled and called her over.
The lady walked over and ordered something before joining the group. "So are you ready for the Hepta to take off?" Joan asked the new comer.

Alex realized she should be on the Hepta, but she trusted the crew well enough to get the ship ready without her. She smiled and headed for the bakery knowing just what to order.
Once in the bakery, Alex heard a familiar voice calling her. She smiled and went for her treat, something very chocolately before joining the small group. She shook her head.
"Joan, I should have known you would be here. You just can't resist the ecalirs, just like mommy," Alex said teasing the younger woman.
"I am sure we will be ready for take off when the time comes. The Hepta always has a good crew, no matter what others say," Alex said knowing full well some of the others at the table were from the Hanson. She noticed one of the ladies, and realized it was one of the new instructors.
"Hello, always good to meet new crewmembers. I am Alex Nikmud, would you happen to be the new Security instructor?"

Crystal had left graduation and returned to her quarters, as her plan had been. She entered to see the message light on her console lit up. “Computer, who is the message from?” she asked.
“From Ambassador Shinsei on Bajor.”
For some reason, Crystal couldn't really explain it to herself, she chose to listen to the message rather than simply erasing it. She was clever enough not to watch the visual though. It was bad enough to listen to someone who sounded like Crystal's mother had sounded like before she had died without having to look into the eyes of that same person.
“Hello, Crystal, I haven't heard from you lately, and was wondering how you are. I've heard reports from Jake that you're doing well on the Hanson-” Jake Shinsei was an Admiral in Starfleet, the mirror-'copy' of Crystal's father. “Which I'm really happy to hear. I hope you're settling in well, and that you know that if you ever want or need anything you can ask either Jake or myself for help.” Crystal almost laughed. Like she was going to ask either of them for help no matter what the situation was.
“Love, Kate,” the message finished. At least Crystal had won that battle. Kate-Ambassador Shinsei-had wanted Crystal to call her 'mom', but Crystal had flat-out refused. Crystal shared nothing with the seven-year old who had been the Ambassador and Admiral's daughter besides the genetic template.
“Delete message without responding,” Crystal ordered the computer, doing the same thing she had done with the last five messages. With that done, she tried to go back to paying attention to the book she had been struggling through, but she was having trouble focusing. These messages always served to make her restless.
Crystal decided she actually kind of wanted to talk to someone. If she had any friends she might have called them to talk, but she didn't have any. No strings attached, but that went both ways. Instead, Crystal headed out into the promenade. Given the presence of windows to the stars, Crystal kept her head down. She was fairly successful in avoiding people but didn't risk looking up. When she arrived at the bakery—Tante Maria's—she let out a tiny sigh of relief.
Amazingly enough she saw someone she recognized, if not necessarily someone she particularly wanted to talk to. As well as the ship's doctor. Crystal decided she might as well play nice, and walked over. “Hello,” she said. “Do you mind if I join you?” she trailed off, her tone suggesting that if they didn't want her there she'd be delighted to go elsewhere, and she didn't really want to be a bother to anyone. “I'm Commander Shinsei,” she said, introducing herself once she thought of it.

Konal introduced herself to Joan. Joan was followed by Alex, whom she had just met a few weeks earlier. Looking a bit fatigued this time, Konal kept her side of the conversation brief. She watched as Alex ordered a chocolate rich food item again. "Yuck" is all Konal could think... after the mudslide she had the last time she was on the starbase, she decided chocolate was not to her liking.
Alex turned her attention to another officer. As the dog below licked up crumbs dropped by the group, Commander Shinsei walked in. She immediately recognized Konal, although no formal introduction had been made prior. To Konal, the commander was just another face in the Klingon camp. To Crystal, Konal was just the new crewmember.
Crystal introduced herself. Konal stood and enclosed Crystal's hands in hers.
"My name is Konal Manto. Lieutenant Manto, that is. I have been assigned to be Chief Science Officer aboard the Hanson, and well, it was a rough beginning. It has been a pleasure so far."
Konal smiled warmly at the commander. She was genuinely interested in the other crewmembers aboard her new home, the Hanson.
<Shinsei>
Brelev made a few comments about the events that occurred in the last mission. It was rather interesting to Konal to see how people responded. Her cardassian mind was constantly analyzing strengths and weaknesses of character. These officers seemed to have more of the former than latter.
<Brelev>
Konal happen to glance at Alex's food, which caused Alex to interrupt her conversation to politely invite Konal to a bite. "No thanks. I'm not fond of chocolate."
This started a whole new topic of conversation of different foods from different worlds; what was liked, and what wasn't. Konal's only input dealt with the plant life she had experimented with on her previous assignments. Some plants had tasty fruits. Some were just outright rank.
As the small talk ensued, Konal finally felt like she fit in. Being on an outpost for so long curbed her social skills, but it was meetings like these that brought them right back.

(O.O.C sorry for my absence there, I did not realize this thread would be so popular)
"Not fond of chocolate." Brelev gasped. "I've never heard of that before. Personally I think I might be addicted. Now hasperate is something I can't stand. I suppose that means I should stay away from Bajor."
The conversation around food began, and Brelev listened with interest, she was a decent cook herself. "Plants you say, Konal you never told me you where interested in horticulture. I keep meaning to ask the Admiral if I can make my quarters into a hydroponics bay, I never use them anyway. Maybe if he lets me I can set aside some for you."
<Tag Konal>
The bakery was growing busy, but as Brelev looked around Larissa, the waitress, was no where to be seen. 'Where is that girl, it's not like her to abandon us this way." she muttered. "I'm going to go check that back, I will be back in just a moment."
Brelev slipped behind the counter and called out for the waitress, who did not reply. "Tante Maria!" she added. "You have a very busy... Oh my!" The elderly Andorian was laying splayed out on the floor, her white hair stained with blue blood. Nearby a dented tray lay, also stained. "Uncle Max! Larissa!" Brelev called out again for the women's husband and young employee. Of course, Maria had mentioned Max had gone to Andoria to visit family, but where was Larissa?
Brelev whipped out her tricorder and checked Maria's vitals, she was alive, but unconscious and losing blood. "Alex, Konal, Joan, Xerin!" she hollered out into the seating area, She's been attacked, I'm taking her to the infirmary!"
<Tag all>
=A=Two to beam directly to the infirmary=A= Brelev ordered, a moment later she appeared in the Station Hospital, and was descended upon by nurses and the station CMO.
(O.O.C I was getting bored ;D Have fun with this, I have no idea who did it)

OOC: Brelev the bakery has always been a popular hangout.
IC:
Joan smiled as she listened about food and plants.
"I don't see any problem with having plants on the base. Maybe we shouldn't do it in your quarters though. I have heard we have a Hydroponics bay around here somewhere. If you want I can search for it, and I see no reason not to just go ahead with the plants you want there. If anyone says anything about it just refer them to me," Joan said liking the idea. ~Of course we will need someone to take care of it while they are away. Could be interesting to be part of that project, or maybe someone else on the base could use a job.~ Joan thought.
Suddenly Brelev left and found someone injured. Joan sighed as they beamed out.
"I will return as soon as I can. Enjoy your food, and Konal you might want to try the Bear Claws, they are delicious and without chocolate," Joan said moving to see what she could find out on the investigation. She found two security officers came to check out the grevance. Joan told them what they had found, and she said she wanted a report on the incident within the hour. Neither officer seemed happy, but didn't say anything.
Joan showed up in sickbay to see if the girl was alright. She noticed Brelev waiting.
"Any news on our friendly waitress?"

“It has been a pleasure so far,” the new Cardassian crewmember, Lt Konal said.
“Really?” Crystal replied. She wouldn't exactly have called the ending to the last mission particularly successful, what with the whole losing the Hanson itself and the being captives in a Klingon prison camp for a while. That brought up bad memories, certainly. Crystal didn't really say much on the subject though, listening instead to Commander Brelev.
Crystal listened with interest as Commander Brelev talked about turning her quarters into a hydroponics bay. She couldn't quite understand that Commander Brelev didn't use her quarters at all. Even without sleeping, Crystal knew she would still need somewhere to go to be alone and entirely far away from people. Being out where people could stop by and talk to her all day was being out at least seven hours too many per day, at least in Crystal's opinion. She was wondering if she could gather her thoughts in a coherent enough way to express them when Commander Brelev rose to look for the waitress.
Crystal shrugged, and decided it was easier listening to conversation than making an effort to participate in it, when she heard the call from Brelev. If she hadn't been too busy reacting to what Brelev had said she might have tried to analyze the fact that Commander Brelev had given everybody's name except for Crystal, even though the two women had been serving together for quite a while. She would probably remember it later, but just put it down to the fact that people were always forgetting her.
But none of that consciously passed through Crystal's mind, because she was too busy tapping her commbadge. =/\=Commander Shinsei to Conqueror Security, someone's been attacked, in Tante Maria's Bakery =/\=
She was informed that a security team was on its way now, and could she please answer the following questions. Crystal indicated that she could indeed, though she didn't know how much help she could actually be. =/\=No, I'm not sure who it was that was attacked...Commander Brelev—yes, the Hanson Chief Medical Officer—transported the injured person to the station sickbay right away, so I assume it would be a fairly serious injury...Yes, that is just my personal opinion, I already said that...But there does appear to be a fair amount of blood—blue—in the area...Yes, I did say the blood would be blue...That probably would mean that the injured had blue blood, however did you leap to that conclusion?=/\= Crystal answered sarcastically, finally losing patience with these questions, that didn't seem like they would be any help. She rather suspected that they were just for the purpose of keeping her occupied and not from panicking. But Crystal didn't have any plans to panic.
“Station security is on its way,” Crystal informed McCormick, Manto, Cole, and Nikmud. McCormick seemed to have something to do, and left quickly afterward. Crystal noticed that many patrons of the bakery were leaving in slight panic, and would be long gone by the time security arrived, unless someone did something. She guessed that she would have to be that person.
“Could everyone please wait a moment,” Crystal raised her voice. “Nobody is in immediate danger right now, and I'm sure security will want to take witness statements.”
She seemed to have reassured people somewhat, but she noticed a few people still seemed like they needed to leave. Crystal intercepted one who seemed particularly insistent to leave. “I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but you need to stay for a little bit longer,” Crystal said.
“I understand, but I need to pick up my children from station childcare,” the man replied.
“Yes, but I think the staff will sympathize with your situation,” Crystal said. “It shouldn't take long for security to collect witness statements, and you wouldn't want to leave and potentially impede a security investigation, would you?” Crystal asked, smiling overly sweetly, neither sure nor particularly caring if the man was telling the truth or if he had been the one to attack Tante Maria—either way he was not to be allowed to leave yet.

Crystal had clearly underestimated Konal's leveled sense of excitement, as it was evident from her curious look. Cardassians, being cautious in revealing too much about oneself (which could be used as blackmail someday) commonly, and unknowingly, portrayed a certain sense of evenness about themselves. Even after being gone for so long from the empire, Konal still possessed these traits instilled so early on in life.
Switching gears, as the conversation evolved, Joan mentioned the possibility of a hydroponics bay.
"Actually, I can tell you exactly where it is," Konal said. "Deck 120, right around the corner from transporter room... 59? 58?," Konal tapped her finger on her cheek in an attempt to concentrate. "... 59. Yeah, I'm sure of it. It's not too large, but it's adequate. I used to go there to retrieve soil samples for our outpost. I should take you there sometime, you don't need to turn your room into a science lab." Konal enjoyed Brelev's nature. She was so ambitious.... so much wrapped up in one Denobulin's body. Konal knew that they would be good friends.
Joan nodded along with the hydroponics comments, and mentioned there were arboretums as well on deck 94, and at the Starquake just a deck away. The conversation eventually sputtered, and Brelev left for the counter. Joan tried to convince Konal to eat a bear claw, but her effort was for naught, because it was then that Brelev was communicating for help.
Most people were in panic, but Konal was not in the business of showing excitement. Don't get her wrong, she was no Vulcan. However, she found it very convenient at times to hide her emotions when among others. It was out of calculation and pride. Logic only played the role as expressed within each of those characteristics just mentioned.
Crystal was taking charge, which was fine and well. The middle-aged Cardassian realized she needed to brush up on her security protocols as communiques and orders went flying.
Konal sat quietly, watching the commotion.

Brelev had assisted the Station CMO in fixing up Tante Maria's head wound, whoever had hit her put a great deal of force into that pan, something Brelev found very disturbing. Tante Maria was still unconscious when the door to the infirmary slid open and Joan entered.
"Any news on our friendly waitress?" The younger women asked.
"No, Tante is still unconscious so she will not be able to tell us where the young women went. We fixed her wound up, but she's lost a fair bit of blood." Brelev replied. "I just can't fathom why anyone would want to do something like this."
"Did you try asking the computer to track her down?" Joan asked.
"As soon as Tante was stable I asked, the computer can't locate her. I'm worried she's been kidnapped, I highly doubt she was the attacker." Brelev fretted. "So much for a relaxed shore leave."
"We'll find her, don't worry." Joan replied, placing a caring hand on Brelev's shoulder.
Brelev flinched at the contact, but allowed the hand to stay. "Have they found anything in the Bakery?"

For the second time that afternoon Xerin nearly knocked over her chair as it rocketed backwards across the bakery. Brelev’s call had brought them running, and civilians and officers alike huddled around the stricken body of the andorian. The doctor wasted no time at all in beaming herself and the patient immediately to sickbay, leaving the rest of the motley gang to contain the situation in the bakery. While Crystal alerted base security Xerin automatically focused her glance on the doorway. She counted four people leaving, and at once committed them to memory. She might need that for later. Thankfully at that point Crystal moved to intercept, and her warnings, for the moment, stopped anyone else from leaving.
“Don’t touch anything.” Xerin said quickly, stepping past the others and into the back room of the bakery. She made sure not to disturb anything as she stepped in and surveyed the scene quickly. A small pool of blood, now sporting a couple of smears, was sitting in the middle of the ceramic floor. A stack of plates and several cooking implements stood on the counter, where Tante Maria had been tending only minutes before. Xerin frowned. There were what appeared to be several sharper and more lethal objects than the tray with which it had appeared she had been hit. It was an interesting choice of weapon, she noted. There didn’t appear to have been any struggle, the tools on the top were tidy or stored away. Xerin turned back to the others. She noticed something else on the floor; it was a rolling pin. Tante Maria had probably been holding onto it when she fell, but it would certainly be worth mentioning to base security.
She made her way back into the bakery, where the others had managed to procure some sort of order. Security hadn’t arrived yet; that seemed odd. She was impressed with the way that Crystal diffused the situation over at the entrance. The mans story sounded genuine, but Xerin knew only too well how appearances could be deceiving. Crystal didn’t look like she was going to budge, and the man desisted for a moment. Shortly afterwards however, he was joined by several others ill-content on staying where they were. Xerin rolled her eyes. Why were people always so difficult? “You alright?” She asked, walking over and stationing herself behind Crystal quietly. “Yes.” She replied shortly. “I was just explaining to these gentlemen that they cant leave at the moment.” She emphasised. “Of course.” Xerin said nonplussed. The man on the left, who was at least six foot tall and several feet larger than both women around the girth remained unconvinced. He stepped up to both of them, casting a large grey shadow in their direction. “And how exactly do you plan to keep me here?” He asked gruffly. Crystal looked as though she took as kindly to threats as Xerin did, and stared him steadfastly in the eye. Before she could answer he stepped around her and made for the doors. Crystal immediately went after him to try and block his path.
Xerin started on their tail, wondering why she hadn’t reported in earlier and been assigned her sidearm. It would have made very little difference, however, because she was immediately seized from behind by the man who was late for his children. He seemed really concerned about them now, she thought angrily. “Get your hands off me.” She spoke calmly, but with a vicious edge. He didn’t respond. She flicked her body around and loosened his grip, but he sealed his hand around her wrist. She was really getting angry now, and balled her hand into a fist. She was saved the effort of hitting him when a pair of tiny grey jaws clamped onto his wrist. The man tried to throw him off, but the puppy hung on like velcro, clawing his way up towards the mans face. Xerin still had trouble peeling him off even when security had arrived; he was stuck like a limpet. She tucked him under her arm and headed back towards Joan and Brelev, who had apparently finished in sickbay. “Everything alright?” the doctor asked. Xerin looked between the security officer, and the puppy-mangled man. She nodded. “Yeah. How’s the patient?”

"Tante is still knocked out, the doctor is not going to revive her untill he is certain it will be safe, a decision I stand by so we may need to wait several hours to talk with her." Brelev replied. "Look, there is station security." She gestured to half a dozen uniformed men who where approaching the bakery.
"I think she was attacked from behind, it's very possible she never saw her attacker." Xerin replied. "However, the response by these thugs." she pointed to the men, one of whom was rubbing his bleeding knuckle self consciously. "Tells me they have something to do with this."
"You the ones who called us?" One of the security guards asked.
"Yes, those two men tried to slip away from the scene, I believe they may be involved." Xerin replied.
The Officer nodded and three of his men cuffed the thugs. "Alright, tell me what you know, starting with who found her."
"I went into the kitchen to find the waitress, Larissa Johnson, and found Tante splayed out on the floor. She was bleeding badly so I transported both of us to sickbay." Brelev explained.
"And you are?" the man asked, he had a PaDD out and was taking notes.
"Brelev, the Hanson's CMO and second officer. I'm here on leave." Brelev replied. 'Larissa was gone, I asked the computer to locate her, but it could not.
"Hmm, you think she had something to do with this?" The man asked.
"Defiantly not, she loved Tante like a grandmother, more then likely the attacker has her." Brelev quickly replied. "They used a baking pan, and struck very hard, you may be able to lift prints and DNA from it."
"Perhaps, let's move into th crime scene and I'll question the rest of you. Matthews!" the man directed the call back to the other men. "Take those suspects to the brig, and start the paper work."

Joan wanted to be support for the doctor, but it didn't seem like she was doing a good job. She noticed Brelev seemed fine, but she was sure this was a shock to many who visited the Bakery. ~I bet if mom has found out about this, she will be madder than a hornet.~ She thought as they both returned to the Bakery. Joan listened to what was going on. She took one of the men aside.
“I want to know what you have found exactly, and don’t give me any baloney about it either. I’m your boss,” she said. He started giving her a report, and she didn’t hear anything she liked.
“Alright, as far as I know, I was eating over there with a small group when one of the ladies got up. I didn’t pay much attention to her leaving because I figured she was getting something more to eat or drink. Her cries alerted all of us, and everyone crowded around. She then beamed her and the injured Maria out of here to sickbay. I went to sickbay to see if Maria was alright, it seems she isn’t awake yet, but doing much better. There now you have my statement, which you can give to your boss. I am going to see what I can find out about this as well. We need to find Larissa, then maybe things will be clearer on what happened. If you need me, use the comm. system,” she said and left before anyone else could say anything to her. She went to her office to see if she could turn something up.
Once inside she got some hot chocolate and sat at her desk to think. Suddenly an idea sprang to her.
“Computer, play back scene from Bakery at 1420,” she said thinking that was the time. :Unable to comply.: She heard the computer tell her. She sighed. “Why are you ‘unable to comply’?” Joan asked hoping it wasn’t what she thought. :It has been erased from the memory banks.: It said, and she groaned.
“Well so much for that. Why can’t this be easy?” She thought, and noticed Leena in the corner sleeping. She shook her head, and decided to walk the promenade. She didn’t know why, but went any ways. She went to Deck 24 and started from the front of the deck walking. She noticed several people were walking toward her away from the Bakery. ~They are just spooked.~ She thought.
She reached the Bakery, and noticed security was still there snooping about. She shook her head, and continued on. She had almost reached section 25 of the deck when she saw something that looked strange. She took out her phaser and walked over to an almost dark patch of the deck. ~This shouldn’t be dark at all. It should be light up like the rest of the deck. Oh my.~ She thought, then put her phaser away when she noticed Larissa laying on the deck. The girl didn’t look so good.
“Transporter Room, this is McCormick. Two to beam directly to sickbay. Beam both my commbadge and my bio signature there,” she said and placed her commbadge on Larissa. It wasn’t long before they were in sickbay. Joan helped the doctor get Larissa up on a biobed, taking her commbadge back. Joan got out of the way to let the doctor do her job. “Let me know if either of them wake up,” she informed them, and left sickbay going to give better knews to those in the Bakery.
She arrived and went over to where Brelev, Crystal, Konal, and Alex were sitting. “We found Larissa, and she is now in sickbay. She looked pretty bad from what I saw,” she said and walked over to the man in charge.
“The missing girl was found near section 25 of this deck,” she said, and joined her friends again trying to think of who would have done this and why.

"This doesn't add up," Brelev sighed,. "It was not a robbery, nothing was stolen. I can't see it as being revenge, Tante has done nothing to deserve this and Max does not seem the type. Larissa is too young to have landed herself in trouble, so why where they attacked?"
=A= Infirmary to Doctor Brelev, Tante has woken up.=A=
"Maybe this will give us some answers." Brelev declared. "I'll meet you back here when I am done, in the mean time maybe those security officers have some more information for us."
The Infirmary was quiet apart from a handful of staff, the CMO directed Brelev to the biobed where the elderly andorian was laying. "Hey, how are you feeling?" Brelev asked.
"Physically I am fine, but I have to admit this attack has left me shaken. The doctor didn't know anything. What happened?" Tante asked. "and why is she here?" she gestured to the neighboring biobed where Larissa still lay silent.
"We where hoping you could tell us." Brelev replied. "I went to see why Larissa was not tending the tables and found you laying on the ground bleeding. Larissa was no where to be seen. I beamed you here. You where attacked by someone, they hit you using one of the pans. We do not think they meant to kill you, otherwise they would have used something more lethal..."
"And Larissa?" Tante asked.
"Joan found her in a seldom used section of the base, the lights where out and she was laying on the ground with a phaser wound." Brelev explained. "Did you see the person who attacked you?"
Tante shook her head. "I was rolling some dough for another batch of cinnamon buns, and I heard a noise behind me, there was a bang... then I was here."
There was a faint groan from Larissa Bio bed. Brelev got up, and moved over to beside the young women, and stroked her hair tenderly. "shh, don't sit up. You are in the infirmary and you are safe here."
"My father..." Larissa groaned. "They want my father...."
Brelev furrowed her brow, she knew nothing about Larissa's father. "Tante..?"
"Mr Robinson owns a successful mining company, he is away this week as usual." Tante explained. So this was not about the bakery at all.

Joan had been worried about the bakery owner. It wasn't every day that someone got hurt on the base either, at least not like this. Usually it was some report about someone hurting themselves in a holoprogram, something like a skiing accident. She didn't like this, and lately things kept happening on the base. ~If mom finds out, she will never stop hounding me about being in charge here.~ Joan thought.
She arrived in sickbay and noticed Brelev was having a conversation with Maria. She walked over and smiled.
"My favorite Tante, must you get hurt too? If mother finds out, I will never hear the end of it. I do believe you are her favorite person, as well as one of my favorites," Joan said.
"My dear, how sweet of you to say. I am sure I will be back on my feet soon enough," Maria said.
"Don't you dare rush back. You need to rest from this. Don't you worry, we will have the guy who did this soon enough. The base has been locked down. No one can come or go, not until this is completely solved, and we will solve it," Joan reassured all three women. She talked for a few minutes, and then the doctor shooed both her and Brelev out of sickbay for the two ladies needed rest.
Outside of sickbay, Joan stopped and looked at Brelev. "Why don't you come with me? I haven't properly eaten dinner yet, and there is nothing more we can do. The base security will continue searching, and I won't release my lock on the base until we have the guy. So how about we go see what is good to eat in the Starburst?" Joan said trying to take Brelev's mind off of the current events.

"I don't know if having dinner would really...." Brelev started. She was not security personally, but she was the one who found Tante, and that made her feel somewhat... involved.
"Food in the belly will help us both to think. Come on Doc." Joan insisted.
"If the station is in lockdown, how did Xerin and Alex get onto the Hepta?" Brelev asked, she had not seen them for several hours now.
"I let them go, they where with us the whole time, so we know they are innocent." Joan explained, as she lead the way to the restaurant. Brelev had only been to the Starburst a few times, the view was impressive, but she preferred a place where she had a view of the promenade. Joan hauled her over to the windows facing the anomaly.
"What did Larissa tell you anyway?" Joan asked, as she flagged down a waiter.
"That whoever grabbed her is after her father, some bigwig in the mining business." Brelev replied "I told the CMO, he is going to contact security. This might lead us to a motive and..."
"Brelev, for a doctor you would make an excellent Security officer. Sit, relax, you are on the Conquerer to have a break remember." Joan laughed, before turning to the waiter to order a drink.
"And for you?" the waiter asked, turning to Brelev.
"Ice tea." Brelev ordered. She sought for a topic that was less... stressful. "So Joan, what have you been up to around here?"

Konal was finally cleared from questioning, of which she cooperated fully, when she decided she would retreat to her quarters. There was too much excitement for one day.
She traveled to deck 25 to get on a convenient turbolift, when she saw Commander Brelev waving from within the Starquake, sidetracking her from much needed sleep. Konal didn't have to file instructor reports tomorrow, particularly because she hadn't had a cadet yet to instruct, so she made the decision to forgo an early bedtime. She entered the Starquake.
"Do you two ever stop eating?" Konal exclaimed to Joan and Brelev. She said it in a joking tone, but was fishing for a real answer. "I will never understand a human's passion for cuisine." Konal stated. Turning to Brelev, "and Denobulins... I didn't forget!". Konal regretted looking up at the cranial markings of Brelev while she said the last statement. It made her path to conclusion obvious. Brelev didn't seem to mind, however.
"The last few times I was on base, I came in here. It seems the security officers usually like to be in here... mostly the men." The Cardassian woman was curious if that was the reason these two chose to be in here at such an hour.
"However, I don't see any here today. They must be taking care of that incident back there. Did they find out what happened?" She listened as Joan told the story, with Brelev interjecting details as she saw fit.
Konal ordered a water only. She finally relented to Alex's attempts at giving her a bearclaw at Tante's, which was a mistake. She had kept a good face about her, but did not enjoy it one bit. Worse yet, no drinks could be ordered during the security crisis, so Konal had nothing to wash it down with. Luckily, Konal only had to hold a strait face until Alex and Xerin departed for the Hepta.
"So, Joan..." Konal looked at her lapel, "Commander Joan.."
"McCormick", Joan said in reminder.
"Yes, Joan McCormick. What do you do here? "I'm curious to know."
Konal had a faint idea of what her role was, but used the question as a conversation starter. A loud roar that was celebratory in nature from a couple of Klingons sitting across from the way caused Joan to have to restart her answer multiple times, each time louder than previous.

Joan chuckled hearing Konal mention they were there for the guys. ~I hope that doesn't get out to my mom.~ She thought.
"I like the food, but yes, I guess the good looking security officers are a bonus. Right Brelev?" She said still smiling. She thought it was good Konal was joining them. She noticed the Klingons were being rouwdy again as she tried to answer Konal's question. She excused herself, and walked over.
One of them noticed her and gave her a greeting. She returned the greeting, and asked if they would keep it down a little. Joan explained it was hard to hear. They agreed to try to keep the noise level down, and invited her to join them. She declined saying she would another time, and returned to the two ladies. She noticed they were a little shocked.
"What? All you have to do is befriend them, which wasn't easy. Just don't tell Admiral McCormick, and I will be grateful. As for what I do here. I am the one in charge of keeping the base running smoothly while our Commadant is away," she said and heard the Klingons again getting loud. She noticed they didn't get too loud though and smiled.
