"You looked lonely, besides I don't like it when people sit alone. My name is Angel Reynolds, and please don't worry about using my rank. What brings you to our section of space?" she said before taking a bite of her pastry.
"I was transferred here to further the boundaries of the marine corps. here, or something, basically, I'm just here as reserve." said Leo, taking a sip of Tea
"Interesting, well its always good to have more people around. We could always use good officers. What is it that you like to do for fun?" she asked
"What does anyone in starfleet do?, Holonovels, I'm an excellent fighter pilot, and an even better marksman, thats about it, maybe the occasional book" said Leo, taking another sip

Angel was taken a little off-guard by his answer, but she just smiled. She took a sip of her juice before saying anything else.
"I do like a good holonovel. Lately I am not sure what people do for fun. I've been busy with my family. So what are your plans while you are here on the station?" Angel asked wondering if maybe she should make future plans to show him the base or do something else.
Angel heard a scream of 'Mama' come from nearby and then she felt something grab her leg. She looked down to find Alex smiling up at her. She picked up her son and put him on her lap.
"Leo, this is my son Alex. Alex, be a good boy and I will share my sweets," she said knowing he wouldn't understand the difference between a bear claw and a cookie without tasting it. Angel ripped of a little giving it to her son. She noticed Maria came over with a bib and some extra napkins, and Angel thanked the woman. It didn't take long to get the bib in place.
"So what made you want to become a marine?" she asked as she continued to feed her son the pastry.

"Family Tradition, Father was a General, Grandfather was a General, Great Grandfather was a general, I think you can see where i'm going with this...as a matter of fact, there hasnt been a single Tolkien man in my direct ancestry who wasnt a general, going back to the 1900s" said Leo

Joan seemed to finished as well. She didn't respond to Kayla's question.
A young child appeared, screaming. Everyone's ears perked up as the boy made his way over the table; the table with the Cadet and his ... that... well, that woman.
An announcement came over the station's intercom system announcing that the Science 101 lecture was still being held, and any cadets wishing to join should do so immediately.
*sigh* The announcment only reminded the young Bajoran girl that she was not Starfleet material, and thusly so, would have to continue looking for a job.
She was ready to leave. She politely said her goodbyes to Joan, who in turn did the same to Kayla. The job hunt needed to continue. Her hope of finding a friend on the base... a male friend... dashed by a Cadet who appeared to be with wife and child.
The eclair lay on its plate, uneaten, as she left.

Leo noticed the young Bajoran woman he had seen when he walked in heading for the door, she had grabbed his attention because she kept shooting looks in his direction ever since he entered the bakery. He followed her with his gaze until she dissapeared out the door then he turned his attention back to Angel and Alex.
"So, Your name's Alex huh?, Thats a cool name, I had a friend once named Alex, he was quite the interesting fellow" Leo said to the young boy, who fixed him with that curious stare as he nbbled on the peice of bear claw his mother had given him. Leo knew the look all to well, his baby brother had often fixed Leo with the same stare.

Angel smiled as she watched the cadet interact with her son. Suddenly she noticed a young woman leaving the bakery, and she pulled out a padd noticing it was just who she had been looking for.
"Leo, would you mind watching Alex for me. I need to snag up a young lady before she leaves the Bakery," she said and waited until he said he would. She left her son in what seemed like capable hands and quickly rushed to the door just barely making it.
"Hello, Ms. Tiara, I believe you and I have something to discuss. Do you have any interest in running an establishment here on the base? I know someone who owns the place and has no time to go over orders and everything else that is needed for the place. Are you interested?" Angel said hoping her son was behaving as she stood there.
(Tiara)
Alex looked up at the guy watching him. He thought about one thing and one thing only, hide and seek. The cadet looked away for a second, which was all the boy needed, and then Alex was gone under the table and crawling away among a few feet. He turned and headed behind the counter hoping for some more sweets.

Angel was smiling as Leo talked to Alex, but a moment later she said "Leo, would you mind watching Alex for me. I need to snag up a young lady before she leaves the Bakery,", and she was off before Leo could say "Sure", he watched Angel jog over to speak to the Bajoran woman. Leo turned back to watch Alex, he gave the child a quick smile, then took a sip of his tea, then a banging sound from the corner got Leo's attention, he look away for a moment, and upon seeing that it was just a particularly raucous group, he looked back, to see the absense of his charge.
"Alex?" said Leo, looking around on the floor, he stood up and looked into the chair Alex had just been in, finding it vacant, he bent down and looked under the table, nothing. "Now where the he...", then he spotted two kid sized feet dissapear behind the bakery counter.
"Quick little bugger" Leo mumbled to himself, suprised at the childs swiftness. He stood up and made his way over to the counter, he leaned over the counter and saw the young boy messing with the latch on the bakery's glass display case, Marie was in the back, and did not see the child behind her counter. "Hey Alex, what ya doin?" asked Leo, the boy looked up in suprise and smiled, then he was off, with a giggle, he ran out from behind the counter, and disappeared into the shop, crouded with tables and people.
"Oi..." said Leo

Kayla was a bit taken back by the offer. "Me? Run an establishment?" Her surprise was real, although it was masked by a fear. She hadn't the first idea on how to run a business. Wondering what it would be, she asked the woman.
Commander Reynolds fumbled with her padd. The Bajoran girl took notice of the Cadet behind her, searching under the counter, behind bulkheads, and on shelves, for the young child. Every now and again the boy would appear, sticking his tongue out in the direction of either the Cadet or Kayla, all while his mother was busy explaining the job offering.
"I never ran a restaurant before. I've only been a server so far." And a bad one at that- although Kayla was not about to shoot down her only offer of employment. Her last job, as a Dabo girl, did not go so well. Hopefully there won't be many Klingons making passes at her at her new job... that is, if she is hired.
The Cadet yelled "gotcha" and dove on the floor for the boy. He came up with a sack of pre-replicated flour. Lucky for him, it didn't break open. Unlucky for him, the child was still on the loose. The commotion got Angel's attention, and she gave directions to Kayla on where to meet her for a formal interview before running out of the bakery and into the Promenade in search for her kid.
The Cadet returned to his table to gather his things.
"I suppose you are off to science training?"
She had overheard he was a marine- but in Starfleet, everyone seemed to have the need to know everything about Starships. Marines studied science, Science officers studied operational procedures, Operations officers trained in security... Everyone was well rounded.
"When you get done with learning all that science, and are out of the Academy finishing your marine training," she smiled shyly, batting her eyelids, "we should hang out sometime. I may have just got myself a job, and I am looking to celebrate a bit."
<tag Leo>
Playing a little hard-to-get, she immediately excused herself. "I need to go back to my quarters and freshen up for my interview. I'll see you when you graduate! Hopefully you don't fail science like I did!"
With a smile on her face, like a child who just got away with stealing a cookie out of the cookie jar, she was on her way to the nearest turbo-lift.

Once in a blue, Andorian moon Zhukarak liked to venture over to Starbase Conqueror and visit the academy. Stepping onto the busy promenade brought back memories of when he first started his adventures here. It had been just over two years ago when S47 expanded its force to include marines. A vast recruitment callout was made at the same time when Zhuk was at a turning point in his life.
Having once been in the Imperial Guard, civilian life had not suited him well…so he had signed up as a Starfleet marine. In fact, he was the first marine to graduate from the S47 Academy and with honors too. It was a proud day for him. Now he looked back…two years later. A very familiar bakery had caught his eye. There was no hesitation when Zhukarak strode forward, Tauntemariuh and Mehyatkumthn would not forgive him if he didn’t stop by.
Upon reaching the door to Tante Maria’s Bakery Zhukarak overheard the departing civilian speak over her shoulder. "I need to go back to my quarters and freshen up for my interview. I'll see you when you graduate! Hopefully you don't fail science like I did!" He noted the flirtation within her voice and wondered who it was directed at. Once he entered he saw the young marine cadet looking through the window after her.
The cadet didn’t see him walking up to him from his blind side. “If you pay as much attention to your science studies as you do to her, you should not be failing.” The marine cadet turned with a slight sneer wanting to berate the newcomer that was butting in, until he saw the uniform and rank.

John was browsing the cafes and restaurants aboard Conqueror looking for somewhere to have something to eat. He enjoyed eating in the Bakery and decided to drop by again for some tea and perhaps some sort of cake. As he arrived he noticed the Bakery was not particularly busy at this time of day with a couple of officers and some cadets scattered around the tables. John decided to sit in his usual seat at the table in the corner.
John was conscious of enjoying a few too many cakes he wasn't as young as he used to be and didn't exercise as much these days. With this in mind he decided just to have a cup of tea and review some PADDs on the progress of repairs on the Hepta. He was eager to return to the ship and start his instructing of the new cadets of the section.
As Uncle Max approached he asked John what he would like to order; "Good to see you here again Commander, what can I get for you?"
"Just a tea today Max, thanks" John replied and then had a look around the Bakery.
Just then from the corner of his eye he caught the glimpse of a young cadet talking to an Andoran Marine, he looked to be a Colonel if John could remember his Marine ranks. John kept his eye on the pair, they seemed to be getting on well. He guessed the cadet must have been training to be a marine. But who was the Andoran, he wasn't an instructor as John had been introduced to his fellow instructors and would have remembered seeing an Andoran. He dismissed the thought from his mind and stopped being so inquisitive and began to become immersed in the reports on his PADD.

Cadet Cooper had been exploring the star base when he came across a bakery and decided to get some coffee. As Cadet Cooper entered the bakery he overheard and An Andorian officer making a comment about a cadets performance in class just as the cadet turned to make a remark he seemed to notice the Andorians rank and the cadets faced turned from on of confidence to one of fear. Cadet Cooper felt glad he was not in that cadets position. As Cadet Cooper turned he noticed A Commander he had seen in his science 101 class Cadet Cooper Decided to ask the Officer if he may join him at his table Cadet Cooper walked over to the Commander and asked ' "May I join You sir". Cooper was hoping this commander was not the type who was quick to anger and proffered to sit alone.

Angel smiled knowing the time she had set the interview for. She knew she had plenty of time, since she told the cadet to meet her right back in the bakery. She wanted to go back and sit down, but noticed her son was running all over the place. She shook her head and raced after her little boy catching him before he got on the turbolift. It was then that her mother-in-law showed up with the her other son.
"Angel, I am sorry about this. He must have slipped out when I was cleaning up Kyle. Where are you off to?" the Captain said smilling, and Angel filled her in. They both headed back to the bakery with their charges in their arms. She noticed the Marine officer in one corner and a cadet with another officer in another. She smiled and decided to see who the new cadet was.
"Hello, gentleman, may we join you?" Angel asked watching the officer and cadet.

As John was kicking back in his chair sipping at his hot tea he noticed the young cadet who had shown such enthusiasm for Commander Penfold’s science class. The cadet had been sitting in the back row, a few rows behind John, John had meant to introduce himself but had got himself caught up in one thing or another. He decided now would be a good opportunity for introductions but before he could offer the Cadet a seat he beat him to it, the Cadet was standing at his table.
"May I join You sir" He asked
John stood up and noted the Cadet’s height he was a few inches taller probably around 6 foot tall. John smiled politely and offered his hand to the Cadet.
“Of course you can, Commander John McFarland pleased to me you Cadet.” The Cadet shook his hand firmly, a sign of a strong character John mused. They both sat down, and John asked the Cadet his name and how he had come to the Academy.
“So, what’s your name Cadet?”
<Tag Cooper>
“Cooper, It’s a pleasure to meet you. I noticed you in Commander Penfold’s lecture earlier, a few interesting points you raised. So what made you join the Section’s Academy?”
<Tag Cooper>
John listened intently to Cooper explain how he had made his way to Section 47 and was just about to ask Cooper if he had decided upon a discipline to train in when 2 women approached the table (One a Commander and a Captain). John was proving popular today he smiled to himself.
"Hello, gentleman, may we join you?"
John turned and smiled to both the women and their children; “Certainly, Ma’ams the more the merrier I always say. I am Commander John McFarland, The new CEO Instructor aboard the Hepta and this is Cadet Cooper.”
John turned to Cooper so he could introduce himself and they both offered their hands to both the women at the same time.

After Cadet Cooper had asked the Commander if he may join him the commander stood up and shook Cooper's hand. Saying
“Of course you can, Commander John McFarland pleased to me you Cadet.”
Cadet Cooper had given a firmer grasp than he had intended but the Commander did not seem to notice. Cooper sat down with the Commander and Commander McFarland asked
“So, what’s your name Cadet?”
" it is Cooper Sir"
Commander McFarland then asked “Cooper, It’s a pleasure to meet you. I noticed you in Commander Penfold’s lecture earlier, a few interesting points you raised. So what made you join the Section’s Academy?”
Cooper replied "thankyou Commander I hardly knew what to say in the class most of the topics raised in there where way over my head" As Cooper thought about what to say about why he decided to join the academy he felt a pang of saddness over the memory of his Father. Cadet Cooper then said "I joined the academy becuase my father was in starflet and he always told me it was a good career my father was killed by the Borg about five years ago and I decided to follow in is footsteps" just as Cooper finished telling Commander McFarland why he joined the academy two women appraoched the table and one of them a Commander asked
"Hello, gentleman, may we join you?"
Commander Mcfarland replied
“Certainly, Ma’ams the more the merrier I always say. I am Commander John McFarland, The new CEO Instructor aboard the Hepta and this is Cadet Cooper.”
As Commander McFarland Turned to Cadet Cooper to give him the chance to introduce himself Cooper stuck his hand out just as Mcfarland did the same. Cooper said Nice to Meet you Ma'ams.

“If you pay as much attention to your science studies as you do to her, you should not be failing.” said a voice from behind Leo, he turned, not many people had the guts to say such a thing to a marine, cadet or no, he had intended to shoot a jive back at whoever the voice belonged to, however, as he turned, the first thing that entered his field of view were a pair of Colonel's wings.
"Sir!" said Leo snapping to attention "I havn't had any failing grades...yet...Sir" The andorian officer fixed him with a stern stare then said.
<Hrisvalar>
"Uh...No Sir...I just met her, not 5 minutes ago..." said Leo, he had been around marines all his life...something about this one made him very nervous.
<Hrisvalar>
"I don't know sir...I suppose I should be in a class somewhere...I just arrived on the station about an hour ago...I just didn't want to go strait to my quarters heh....Sir" said Leo

"Sir!" said Leo snapping to attention "I havn't had any failing grades...yet...Sir" The andorian officer fixed him with a stern stare then said.
"So, do you know her?"
"Uh...No Sir...I just met her, not 5 minutes ago..." said Leo, he had been around marines all his life...something about this one made him very nervous.
"Is there any other place you should be at the moment?" Zhukarak was just testing the young cadet, it was his way of seeing what these new marines were made out of.
"I don't know sir...I suppose I should be in a class somewhere...I just arrived on the station about an hour ago...I just didn't want to go strait to my quarters heh....Sir" said Leo
This one was way too nervous for him. Zhuk wasn't sure if he wanted to be a marine for himself or if there were other reasons, such as following a lineage or heritage in the family. He figured he'd relax a little, there was no sense in scareing him out of the uniform before he had the chance to prove himself.
"Relax marine, why don't you join me. I'm Colonel Hrisvalar, commander of the USS Jefferson in the First Fleet. What brings you here?"
Before the cadet could answer, Tauntemariuh came out from the back and made a beeline for Zhuk when she saw him. She embraced him as he stood up to greet her. "Oh Zhukarak, how have you been? It has been quite some time since you have graced my shop with your presence. Still giving cadets a hard time I see."
"My apologies for my long absence. I now have my own command since my last visit, so you can understand that I don't get much free time anymore. How is Mehyatkumthn?" Zhukarak sat back down.
"Well he does not run the shop with me much anymore. He still does the books, but from home now. I must go now, I need to attend to my customers...speaking of which...I shall bring you one of my eclaires, and you too." She added referring to the marine cadet. "It is great to see you again."
"Thank you. It is a pleasure to see you again as well. My apologies cadet...?"
"Tolkien, sir. Leo Tolkien"
"Tolkien, that name is familiar...hm. Now do tell, what brings you here?"

After a sonic shower and a standard Starbase food ration - which consisted of replicating an old Earth meal called a "salad", Tiara Kayla found herself teasing her hair a bit with a brush, nervously awaiting her interview with Commander Reynolds.
"I think you'll do just fine!" she said to her reflection, kissing the mirror. She wiped the smudge it left with her sleeve, and continued to tease.
The sonic shower, while a blessing for cleanliness, was horrific to her hair and complexion. It took what seemed like forever to defoliate the skin afterward- and that's even when the para-dermal applicator was working at peak efficiency. Something that happened rarely in assigned quarters on a Starbase.
Realizing she was running late, she made one last adjustment to her necklace to move the clasp to behind her back, and sprayed perfume in the air - Orion Nectar it was called - and walked through it. The bottle was green, probably in an effort to better market the product, but it didn't nearly have the effect on men that true Orion women had. Sufficed to say, the Bajoran girl wasn't exactly hurting for attention.
"Promenade" Kayla said, once in the turbolift.
The doors open, and the hopefully employed Kayla waltzed into the bakery, seemingly without a care in the world, but as nervous as any interviewee could be.
Some of the faces were similar from a few hours before when Tiara Kayla had last left the bakery. The marine cadet had found another marine- an older Andorian marine. They were in conversation at one of the tables. She also saw Commander Reynolds, but avoided eye contact. She hadn't fully prepared herself for an interview and hoped she could get a few gulps of water into her system before the interviewing began. The last time she interviewed, her mouth became so dry, she sounded like she had spent a week in the deserts of Vulcan.
"Just a water," she spoke to Tante, who in turn went to the replicator mumbling something about "all skin and bones," and "girls these days". The water came quickly, and Kayla made her way to Reynolds, who, it seems, had found her young child since Kayla had left to freshen up.
"I see you found him!" she stuck her tongue out at the little boy, similar to the way he had done earlier to her. He giggled, and grasped his mothers leg, and buried his face in it. The boy was mischievous, but also shy. *Not much changes when they get older* she could remember thinking at the time.
"I'm ready whenever you are, Commander," she said confidently, but in a tone that carried a smidge of uneasiness. She looked up at the marines, smiled at them - as was in her nature - and awaited Angel's response.

After chattin for several minutes with Commander McFarland Cooper decided to explore the station some more. Cooper stood up and shook McFarland's hand and said "Nice to meet you sir we should do this again sometime" <Tag McFarland> Cooper walked towards the exit of the bakery happy with making a new friend. Cadet Cooper was afraid he might not fit in at the academy. As Cadet Cooper exited the Bakery Cooper felt renewed and was looking forward his time in the academy.

After getting settled a little with two highchairs brought over, Angel smiled noticing Kristie was handling the boys for her still. "Its a pleasure to meet both of you. I don't know how long I will be able to stay as I have an appointment soon, but I'm sure Kristie won't mind staying," she said winking at her mother-in-law who chuckled.
"Sure, I could use with some relaxation. Not every day that there isn't something wrong with my ship," the grandmother captain said getting up and going for a pastry. She returned not much later with two bearclaws and a glass of milk. She tore of part of her pastry for the boys making Angel shake her head knowing the boys would love their grandmother even more for the sweets. It was then that the lady from earlier showed up ready for the interview.
"Okay, if you will come with me then. I will see you later, mother, gentlemen," she said and moved over to an empty table for two. She could tell Tiara was nervous.
"Relax, this isn't going to hurt one bit. What experience do you have in food service and entertainment?" Angel said digging right in.
(Tiara)
"I see, well what is it you like to do for fun?" she said trying to keep the bajoran off balance a little in all this.
(Tiara)
"Okay, do you see yourself as someone who could fill a role of a Morale Officer?" Angel asked wondering if perhaps she had a new assistant in all this. She smiled and waited for the lady to answer.
(Tiara)
Kristie was left alone with three males, two boys and an officer. "So, Commander, what brought you this part of space?" she asked him hoping for a bit of conversation as she kept the boys busy with food, something she knew would be trouble for Angel later since there was sugar in it. She also knew she didn't have to worry about her own set of twins since they were spending the day with their father and brother.
(McFarland)
"It was good meeting you, cadet, I hope you enjoy your time in the academy," Kristie said as Cooper left them.

"So, Commander, what brought you this part of space?" Asked Kristie
It was a very could question and a long and painful story to regale, John paused for thought at how to answer. Just then Cooper announced his departure from the bakery, probably to go off and get his bearings around the Base John mused. He had been doing that himself a few weeks ago.
"Nice to meet you sir we should do this again sometime" Cooper said as he stood up to leave.
John waved Cooper off and replied: “Definitely, don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions Cadet. Or any idea of which discipline to train in.”
John then turned to Kristie, “I’m sorry I did not answer, immediately it is a long story which brings up some bad memories.”
Continuing as Kristie motioned for him to elaborate a little, John smiled: “Well, I’ll give you the short version. Basically, I used to work for Starfleet Research and Development, writing papers and working on new warp technologies and advancements. Then there was an accident and I decided to resign my commission and took a sabbatical period out of StarFleet that was just over a year ago now. During which time Admiral Drew contacted me, he served with my father and offered me the post as an Instructor. I decided to accept the post after I decided I could still work with my passion for research but also teaching, not to mention being back on a ship again.”
John stopped and stared at Kristie, “And that’s the short version. So what about you? How did you end up here?” John asked as he ordered another tea.

"Thank you. It is a pleasure to see you again as well. My apologies cadet...?"
"Tolkien, sir. Leo Tolkien" said Leo
"Tolkien, that name is familiar...hm. Now do tell, what brings you here?"
Leo took a seat at the table the Colonel had situated himslf at and pondered the question, the honest answer was he was just following family tradition, if he hadn't joined the marines he would have left a gaping hole in 300 years of marine history within his family, but he couldn't quite say this to an officer like this...but he couldn't lie, that didn't seem right...but if he told him why he was really here...the officer would naturally think he had no interest in the marines, that he was only here because it was 'tradition'.
"I thought the marines would be a good way to explore the galaxy." said Leo
(tag Hrisvalar)
"Not exactly, Starfleet itself never held much apeal for me to tell the truth" he took a sip of his second cup of Earl Grey.
(Hrisvalar)
"Oh no sir, i've been around marines all my life...I just didn't expect to come across one as high ranking as yourself...quite so soon...hm..." he used a balled up fist to stifle the cough and took another sip of tea and waited for an answer.

The Caitian cadet slowly looked around the corner, purring gently to himself, before spotting the bakery himself as did so many before him. Looking for an empty seat he raised an eyebrow as he saw the others situated around him.
With a raised eyebrow he non-verbally remarked he would not be accepted here and thus choose to keep to himself. He walked up to the counter, placing an order for a large roll. With that he stood, overlooking the rest with a bit of contempt.

After being transfered back to SB Conqueror early, Sandy quickly dumped her stuff in her quaters, and headed over to bakery, which always seemed to smell of freshly baked bread. This for some reason remined Sandy of home.
As she entered she noticed how busy it was, a heck of a ot busier than last time, they must had had a sudden influx of cadets. Sitting at one of the tables, an oldish woman walked up to her, "Can I get you anything?"She asked.
"Erm" Sandy said, unsure what to have, "Just Tomato soup and a few slices of bread please" she said.
The woman walked away, Sandy sat looking out at the stars, wishing she was still out there on the Hanson, but she wasnt, there was nothing that she could do now. The soup soon arrived along with the warm bread. Sandy carefully tore a small piece of the bread and began to dip it in the soup, as she did so a young looking commander came up to her and comment on Sandys food, she couldnt quite make out what she said, so she just smiled.

Alex noticed when the female cadet walked in, and she smiled continuing to watch her. She waited until the cadet took a seat before going over to introduce herself.
"That looks mighty fine, I might have to try that," she said and found no response. She realized she might not have been heard so she stepped up close enough to the table.
"Hi, I'm Alex Nikmud, who might you be? Do you mind if I join you?" the commander said hoping she would be allowed to join the cadet and have a good conversation, something she hadn't had in awhile and especially with someone so new.

"Ah, good to meet you Cadet Black, what brings you to our side of space?" she said just trying to make conversation.
