David was dumbfounded, that was the only word he could think of as the Admiral told him all that had happened. Apparently, Captain Lorre and Commander Thelev had run off together ... and left the Nevada in a lurch. What was worse ... both Mr. Sandage and Mr. Reo had been reassigned to another Section. The Nevada now had only a skeleton crew and David, as the most senior officer, had been promoted to the acting commander until another could be assigned with Lieutenant Stephens as his executive officer.
He sat there before the console and stared at the Admiral that issued him his orders.
"Any idea where they went?" David asked in reference to the former Captain and First Officer.
"From the communique we recieved from Lorre Melain, they have resigned their commissions and joined the crew of a freighter. Outside of that, Commander, we know nothing not even the name of the freighter," he said with a grimace, "You and Mr. Stephens are to take command of the USS Nevada-B today at 1600 hours. It is currently docked on the annex station in orbit around Risa. You will have a skeleton crew until you reach Starbase Assailant. From there you'll recieve fresh officers and additional orders from Admiral Lin."
"Aye, sir," David replied with a blank look.
"Oh, and Commander?"
"Yes, sir?"
"Congratulations!"
"Yes, sir, thank you, sir."
The Admiral took his leave and his image disappated from the viewer as David tapped his combadge.

Stephens had been walking slowly along a country lane with T'Pren, the cat crisis resolved, the bimbo diva on her way to who-knew-where backwater planet to terrorize the locals there. Normalcy had been restored to the lovely resort planet, and Stephens and T'Pen had finally--finally!!--gotten a chance to be together quietly and without strange things pressing them into this action or that.
"It's so nice," Stephens said, "to just be able to relax. That's what we came here for, wasn't it? I can't remember, seems so long ago."
T'Pren laughed and nodded her head, gripping Stephens' hand tighter as they strolled along. They were passing the point where Stephens had been earlier, where he had imagined kissing her, voluntarily, where he had imagined that she would become excited with the simple rustic beauty of the place, where the children of Risa chased the dogs and the dogs fetched the children like living sticks, only to begin again with laughter and undisguised joy. It was a microcosm, in a way, of Stephens' chase of T'Pren, and now here they stood, adjacent to a country road leading nowhere in particular.
They had both stopped and knelt down to examine some small flowers native to Risa; upon standing, they were facing each other. Overcome once more with a desire to kiss her, Stephens was just leaning in, and T'Pren was just preparing herself to be kissed, when both their comm badges chirped. Of course they chirped--what else would one have expected?
=^=Lieutenants Stephens and T'Pren, please report to my room as soon as possible.=^=
With a "Drat!" and a light-hearted curse and a big smile, Stephens replied, =/\=Stephens here, Commander. =/\= He looked at T'Pren, who smiled and nodded. =/\= On our way, Sir. =/\=
**************************************
Both Stephens and T'Pren were shocked at what had taken place in the time it had taken to walk to the countryside. They'd had no inkling of what was to come, and the fact that their new ship was peremptorily without command crew was astonishing. And now it was Commander Ramsey as temporary CO, Stephens, without a day of experience or a thought of how he could do it, Ramsey's XO. The three of them, that was all. Stephens in all of his wildest imagination would never have conceived of such a thing.
They'd be leaving Risa soon. A few things packed and they'd be on their way.
Dinner with T'Pren would just have to wait one more time.

Josh was in his hotel room when he got a incoming communique from some personnel officer back on Earth.
=/\=Commander, I am sending you orders to report back to Star Fleet Command. It seems that you are being transfered to....=/\=
That was all that Josh had heard, becuase he was thinking about how he could get to stay on the Nevada. He then got an Idea.
"Computer, Open a subspace channel the person I am typing into the console. Authorization Code, Reo Zero One Six Gamma," Josh said. The Computer replied and the Starfleet emblem was replaced by a familiar face.
"Madame President, I was wondering if you could do me a favor. It seems that I have orders to report back to Star Fleet Command. I would really like to stay with the Nevada. Is there any way you could help me out?"
"Commander, after what you did for me in Paris, I would be honored. Consider it done."
"Thank you ma'am," Josh said and ended the conversation.
He then packed up his belongings and left his room. He knew that the Nevada-B was due to enter the system within the hour, and he wanted to be the first on board. He went to the hotel lobbey and had tem beam him to the Nevada when It arrived in orbit.
Minutes later he materialized in a transporter room. He left that room and made his way to the bridge. When he got there, he saw that he was not the first of the Senior Officers to arrive. Commander Ramsey and Lts. Stephens and T'Pren were already on the bridge and discussing something. Josh left his bags by his 'station' and walked up to Ramsey.
"Good Morning Commander, I hope that my pressence here doesn't alarm you. I fought the transfer back to Earth. I just wanted a chance to stay in space for a while," Josh said.

It had been less than an hour since Magellan had stepped off the South Carolina and already he was at his desk and in action. The loss of the Scavenger was only eased by the fact that the new Akira Class Nevada had been delivered to Risa where the crew awaited.
He reviewed the fleet dispositions again and frowned. He was tired his abduction and the subsequent revelations that had followed were still catching up with him. He would have to rest soon perhaps whilst he waited for the Nevada B to return to dock. He realised with some concern that there would be no time for a shakedown cruise that would have to be done en route. He was so short staffed he needed the Nevada urgently for a mission that had dire ramifications for the whole Federation and he wasnt happy about the essentially new crew having to fulfill that role without a CO. Still that was unavoidable, the Colonial War was stretching everyone and the Federation werent even invloved militarily...yet.
He tried to push aside the knowledge he now had to one side, the key to the whole war, there was nothing that could be done at least not until the Nevada arrived.

(OOC: Greetings! It's not official yet, but once the transfer goes through, I'll be joining you as Chief Engineer. As you're currently enroute to base, I'll meet you there)
Commander Dan Trek sat along the window in the Polaris' Main Lounge, staring out at the stars as she warped her way towards Starbase Assailant, to meet up with the Akira-class USS Nevada. He stretched out his two-meter long frame, accidentally brushing his hand against the face of his traveling mate, Lieutenant James Selgur. Selgur flinched, glancing up from the tech manual. "Sorry, Selgur," he said in apology.
"That's alright," Selgur said, rubbing the side of his face. "Your skin feels like rough sandpaper is all. I'm not sure which is more unsettling, that orange sandpaper skin in contrast with the brown hair, or those deep red eyes of yours. Not to mention your physical size is a little intimidating."
"At least you brought you out of that trance. You're so engrossed in the specs of those Kaneda fighters that you didn't even notice when the waiter asked if you wanted anything to drink," Dan said, and smiled at Selgur's perplexed expression.
"He came over?" Selgur said in amazement, looking around. "I didn't even notice. I was too busy studying this," he said, looking down at the PADD, which shown the specifications of the Kaneda-class fighters assigned to the Nevada. "Elegant little ship, isn't it?"
"You know, for a holographics expert, you've certainly become infatuated with those little crafts," Dan noted.
Selgur set down his PADD. "Speaking of my expertise, let's check your abilities with it. Deactivate your arm."
Dan held out his left arm, and after a second, the hologram that formed the majority of his forearm and his hand disappeared, leaving behind the emitter. Implanted on the stump of his amputated forearm, the emitter was a cylindrical device, roughly 10 centimeters thick, and as big around as his arm. Inside was housed the emitters to create his arm, the implant that created the two-way connection between the arm and the corresponding implant in his brain, and the power supply for the whole dang thing.
"Not bad," Selgur noted about the speed. "A fraction of a second better than your test last month. Now, to test your activation skills, activate it and pick this PADD up off my knee."
Dan moved his arm, and while his arm was still in motion, his arm reactivated, and picked up the PADD without slowing down. The holographic arm with indistinguishable from his real arm, and the transition between real and holographic was seamless, thanks to emitter projecting the image of his uniform sleeve around itself. Unfortunately for Selgur, the holographic hand was so realistic that it was just as rough as his real one.
"Very nice," Selgur commented. "Looks like you're proficient enough for active-duty, which is good since we'll be at Assailant tomorrow. You ever served on an Akira before?"
"Not yet. I've done Defiant, Vagabond, Prometheus, and Intrepid, and even a starbase, but not an Akira. Variety keeps things interesting."
"Especially at your age, sir," Selgur said, which earned him a glare. "Well, after all, you're what, 148 now?"
Dan nodded. "Only middle-aged for my species. I've still got several good years left in me."
"I'm sure you do, sir."

OOC: Hi there everybody just to let you know that given your understaffed your next mission will be with SBA. So what i would like is for you to use this thread to get to know yourselves and the new ship en route to SBA. You should aim to arrive in the next day or so. At which point you will all be summoned to a briefing and a mission assigned. The mission will be called - Convergence. This title kinda relates to what has been going on in the Assailant Story Arc but will make a stand alone mission for you guys. Now I know SBA has some rather complex plot arcs at some times and some of the plots in this mission wont make sense to you necessarily but everything will be clear for what you need, If you want to catch up on our missions you can do so at: www.s47.org/wiki2/index.php/Season_1_-_New_Beginnings - This starts at Season 1 but Season 4 is more important. Lastly your plot theme will heavily involved the 'Colonial War' details of which are at: www.s47.org/wiki2/index.php/Colonial_WarAll the best and see you soon.

Stephens was excited very much about the new ship and new assignment. He had been told, albeit briefly, that they would be heading to Star Base Assailant immediately, as they were needed there.
The ship was cavernous--it would have seemed so anyway--but with the loss of crew, the bridge and other environs seemed almost empty. It was strange, after the crowded Hanson of just a few weeks before, and the rigors of the million-cat march he and T'Pren had witnessed on Risa, to be banging about in a nearly-empty Akira-class vessel.
To be sure, it would become more populated soon enough. There was word that the Nevada-B would be taking on additional staff once the Star Base was reached, perhaps among them cadets fresh-graduated from the Academy, and perhaps as well a veteran or two from other vessels. It was, overall, an exciting time, and Stephens was looking forward to all of it.
After settling into his quarters, which he found more than adequate, and working a shift or two at the Science console on the bridge, where nothing significant presented itself, giving Stephens the time and luxury of calibrating the sensors and doing initial diagnostics on the station. He was going to be happy here, he felt, and there was a feeling of contentment in knowing that the Science station was his, having never been manned before by anyone else.
As the Nevada poked along to its destination at a leisurely warp 4, there was plenty of time, too to spend with T'Pren. The realtionship had blossomed to the point where they had actaully had dinner together, danced to some Vulcan music, and had begun to speak aloud of their feelings for each other. Stephens was endlessly delighted that she found him attractive; and endlessly delighted more in her attractiveness to him. She told him of her bonding on Vulcan, a ceremony carried out when she was just a young girl, and that she did not actually know her intended mate, but now that she was in love with Stephens, she would be required to return to Vulcan to 'undo' the ceremony with her intended so that she could virtuously and with all honesty conduct her affair with Stephens.
It was a sadness and a delight both for him; she intended to leave for Vulcan immediately upon reaching Star Base Assailant, and was not certain of the time of her return. They would be apart for an extended time, and this disappointed and saddened Stephens, though the reason for the separation was clear and unambiguous to him, and he understood it fully. She too was saddened, but promised to return to the Nevada as soon as she possibly could do so, and in the end they promised each other not to speak of it more, and enjoy the time they had remaining to them.
Alas, the days grew shorter, and the time more precious. Kisses there were aplenty, and hopes for the future. Stephens and T'Pren were fully in love, and the future they hoped so fervently for was impeded only by a Vulcan ritual in which he could not participate, and in which she would declare her love for him.
Such hapiness as there could be reigned over their too short days together as the ship approached its destination.

"Tyan to Commander Trek," came the voice out of the darkness.
Dan roused himself out of his light sleep. "Go ahead, Captain," he said as he sat partway up.
"Thought you'd like to join us up here as we're nearing the Starbase. ETA 1 hour, 3 mintues."
"On my way," he said, as he got up off his bed. As he left his guest quarters, he thought about dragging Selgur along, but thought better of it. The invitation had only been to him after all.
He entered the Bridge, and his eyes immediately went to the viewscreen. No matter how many thousands of hours he had spent in his long lifetime staring at such sights, the warped starfield was soemthing he considered to be one of the universes true beauties.
His eyes next went to Captain Tyan, as she gestured for him to join her at the Command bench. "Glad you could join us, Commander. Please, have a seat."
"Thank you, Captain," he said as he sat down in the offered chair.
After a moment, she looked over at him. "Commander, I've been meaning to ask you about something. I was reading your file..."
He made an expression that would have been raising his eyebrows, if he had any. The actual result was just a wrinkled forehead. "You were? Why the interest in me, ma'am?'
She smiled a bit. "My curiousity got the better of me when I saw you come on board. But it was service record that attracted my attention, especially when contrasted with your transfer orders. You've headed a major Engineering facility, and even commanded a starship, and yet you're returning to service as just a Chief Engineer of a mid-sized starship. Why the seeming reduction in position?"
She's an observant one, he thought to himself. "Well, if you've read my file you've noted my considerable age." She nodded slowly. "Well, after all the excitement and stress of Command, I'd rather just spend the remainder of my service as an engineer. It is what I was born to do. It's all I want to do."
She simply nodded, apparently satisfied with the answer. "That many years must have provided some interesting stories, I presume?"
He smiled, and began to regale her with quite the tale.
=/\= =/\= =/\= =/\= About 45 minutes later =/\= =/\= =/\= =/\=
"....And then they made me their Chief...," he continued.
"Captain, we approaching Starbase Assailant," said the helmsman over his shoulder.
"Forgive me, Commander, I would love to hear the rest of this later," she said to Dan, then turned back to the task at hand. "Helm, take us out of warp, and slow to 1/4 impulse."
"I'd better go find Selgur and get ready to disembark," he said, standing.
Tyan nodded. "I'll see to it that your cargo is transported to your temporary quarters once we dock."
"Why thank you, Captain," he said a little surprised. This was not a courtesy he would have expected to be extended. He departed the bridge.
As he headed towards Selgur's quarters, he found the lieutenant standing outside his own. "No wonder you weren't answering the chime," Selgur said, noticing him coming up the corridor.
"Captain Tyan invited me up to the Bridge," he said in explanation.
Selgur nodded. "I see. Shall we head towards the gangway area?"
"Let's."
Twenty minutes later, they set foot on Starbase Assailant. "Well then," Dan said, looking around. "We should find some way to occupy ourselves until the Nevada arrives. I'm hungry."

(OOC: Moving right along...)
Hours later found Dan and Selgur in a restaurant in Assailant's business district. While Selgur was happily occupying himself by consuming large quantities of various kinds of meat, Dan was satisfied with periodic sips from his drink, and instead kept his on the passing crowds. They had placed themselves on the outskirts of the restaurant mostly for that reason.
"You are reading their minds again, are you Commander?" Selgur asked, looking up.
Dan smiled and shook his head. "No, no. You'd be surprised at what you can learn from keen observation. Especially when backed up by so many years of experience. Plus I can't exactly read minds anyway."
"Ah yes, you're more of an empath, but not quite an empath. I've never really understood your mental abilities. Just enough to help wire up that thing," he said, pointing to the holographic arm.
Dan's comm badge chirped at that point. He tapped it. "Trek here," he said.
"This is your automated reminder," the computer's voice said over the comm badge. "The USS Nevada-B has just docked on Starbase Assailant."
Dan nodded and tapped his commbadge again to end the message. "Well Selgur, shall we go?" he asked standing.
Selgur stood as well. "Sure thing. Can't wait to see those little beauties," he said, rubbing his hands together, refering of course to the fighters.
A few minutes later found themselves in front of a Leiutenant holding a PADD. "Name and position?" he asked as he looked up from the PADD, then further up when he saw Dan's size.
"Commander Dan Trek, reporting as Chief Engineer," Dan said.
"Lieutenant James Selgur, Engineer's Mate."
After a moment, he looked up from the list. "Proceed, sirs."
Once Dan stepped aboard, he said, "Computer, locate Commander Ramsey and Lieutenant Stephens."
"Commander Ramsey and Lieutenant Stephens are on the Bridge."
"I think I'll find my quarters first," Selgur said, and headed off.
Dan headed directly for the Bridge. He spotted the two men that fit the Commander's and Lieutenant's descriptions. He walked up to them. "Commander Ramsey, Lieutenant Stephens? Commander Dan Trek, reporting as Chief Engineer, sirs."

The new Nevada-B, to Stephens' mind a brillant conceptive piece of machinery, was within the hold of the docking clamps at SB Assailant, and he and Commander Ramsey were in the process of powering her down. This was all new for Stephens, of course. The only ship he'd actually served on was the Hanson, way back at the Academy. It had been a fairly long time, too. Amazing that he had been able to spend so much time on Risa here at the beginning of his career.
The checks were routine, at least for Ramsey. as he went through and explained to Stephens why it was done in this way. Although he knew that this was the procedure every time, he had always supposed that it just got done somehow, never really giving thought to whose responsibility it might be, and that it must always be done correctly. But in light of their present crew situation, especially with regard to senior officers, it fell to Stephens to step in and at least get a feel for the protocols and procedures involved in command.
He had tried to give some thought to what woud be next for them as a crew. He knew that they had been recalled to Assailant, and that the message was of some urgency. There was a problem, obviously, and the Nevada was needed, even short-staffed. But beyond that, Stephens had no idea what was in store for them. T'Pren would be taking the next flight to Vulcan, and there was a twinge of regret in that. Stephens tried not to think of that, though, and instead concentrated on the lessons he was learning.
Too soon, though, it was finished, and practically speaking, Stephens of course had no idea how to do what he and Ramsey had just done. He hoped that he wouldn't have to do it by himself anytime soon. As he and Commander Ramsey stood together on the bridge, looking out at the Star Base poised against the backdrop of the black and luminous sky, the turbolift doors opened, and a large man entered wearing the pips of a StarFleet commander. Stephens immediately stood at attention as the man came down to the command pit.
"Commander Ramsey, Lieutenant Stephens? Commander Dan Trek, reporting as Chief Engineer, sirs."
Stephens smiled while extending his hand to the new Engineer. "Welcome, Commander Trek," he said warmly. "Our house is your house."

OOC: This post is being sent to both threads: Nevada and Assailant. Hereafter, I'll post to the Assailant.
IC:
The shuttle from Conqueror to Assailant took some time and during that, Lucy sent messages to her Gram and Gramps. She slept; she laid with a novel conveniently on a data padd so when she dozed off, it fell without losing her place.
When the pilot woke her to say they were docking with Starbase Assailant, Lucy stumbled into the sonic shower then dressed in her last clean, pressed uniform and carefully put her pips and comm badge in place. Stepping back to view her reflection in the mirror of the small co-ed bath, Lt(jg) Lucille (call me Lucy) Grey felt inordinately proud of herself. She knew that would wear off and could only hope it would before the Nevada arrived to pick her up.
The USS Nevada-B! She'd read up on the specs, the senior staff and her counseling staff. The ship's motto, "Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one", was originally spoken by Albert Einstein, one of the greatest minds to ever exist. Lucy was instantly proud of the ship.
Trying to calm herself down, she thought of her academy instructor, Dr. Westgate. Leaving the academy was hard because it meant she wouldn't have him to turn to.
Standing behind the helm station, Lucy looked out at Assailant as it loomed into view. Suddenly, the shuttle was really, really, small.

David was in a daze trying very hard not to let on to Stephens that he had yet to serve onboard a starship since his mission onboard the Hepta. Of course, he was a good student then and had all but memorized all protocols and procedures and was thrilled that he was able to play off his lack of experience so well. He'd been with the Nevada crew for well over a year and yet this was the first time he'd spent more than five minutes about a Nevada ship. He had to admit he liked the new Akira, it was somewhat unique and the fact that it had such a large area for fighters excited him. Working with fighter pilots is supposed to be difficult, but David had never attempted it. However, he was certain he could do it ... and that he would probably enjoy it.
Sitting next to Stephens as he went over all the docking procedures, David couldn't help but stare longingly at the OPS station now occupied by an ensign. He had never even gotten the chance to sit there on the other Nevada and now he the option to do so was there ... but he was busy trying to make sure the ship didn't collide with SBA instead of docking with it. As they finished the hard docking procedures and began powering down a rather rough looking man made his way toward them.
"Commander Ramsey, Lieutenant Stephens? Commander Dan Trek, reporting as Chief Engineer, sirs."
Stephens smiled while extending his hand to the new Engineer. "Welcome, Commander Trek," he said warmly. "Our house is your house."
David smiled at the lieutenant's response but chose to keep his own a bit simple, "Aye, welcome aboard commander. We are more than pleased to have you."

OOC: I'm trying to catch up to everything here, folks...can you all give me a hand? I'm not sure about this convergence thread thingy...any help is much appreciated. In the meantime, I'll back post from the Nevada to T'Pren's return from Vulcan...
IC As T'Pren packed her belongings, she thought longingly of Connor Stephens. She would be leaving him for who knew how long, and was not sure that the Vulcan High Council would allow her to return to Starfleet after what she was about to do. She knew they would all blame her human half for impetuousness, and emotionality. She was those things, for certain. But it was more than that, much more. She was part of a small but growing movement among Vulcans to allow choice of mate in adulthood, rather than bonding as a youth to a person they did not know, except as a vague presence in their mind. She would make her final protest by returning to Vulcan and breaking her bond to her intended mate, Skonn. She hoped it would go smoothly, and that she would not be required to call for the Khalifi. She had seen Skonn once briefly before her acceptance to Starfleet Academy, and she knew that Skonn could easily best Connor in a battle to the death. Shaking, she boarded the shuttle that would take her to her ship, bound for Vulcan and home.
=/\= Six weeks later, and many arguments with her family, T'Pren found herself bound for the Nevada, and from there, to Starbase Assailant. In the weeks she was absent, Lorre Melain and Frek had run off somewhere together. David Ramsey was now acting CO of the Nevada, and her beloved Connor Stephens, XO. She could hardly believe the changes!
Sighing inwardly, she waited for transport up to the Nevada, so that she could begin this next stage of her life's journey...With momentous news for Connor Stephens!
OOC; This is the part where you'll have to tell me how to post on the convergence thread. Are we not continuing our mission on the Nevada proboards? Sorry all, I'm a tad lost!!! Good to be back! Dr. T'Pren Ironhorse CMO (former CMO?) USS Nevada-B

Because the Nevada is without a Full CO or a full crew she is taking part in a Joint Mission with Starbase Assailant. That mission is being carried out on the Starbase Assailant board under the Convergence thread.
You need not worry too much, the Nevada is only just about to depart and you can pretty much ignore posts regarding the Debrune, Qualinost and the Holy Child investigation - thats an ongoing plot thread on Assailant.
Hope this helps.
