"Captain, We are approaching the Alpha Leonis system" the lieutenant Helm officer proclaimed loudly. "Twenty minutes until arrival"
"Halt at the outer border." They would have to send a shuttle craft in to Lenore IV. The Nevada would have to stay with the torpedo, well out of range of any civilization.
Nack continued. "Major Mrad, Commander McLean, and Commander Trek will take a shuttle to Lenore IV. The Nevada will stay here with the fighters in case the torpedo has a change of heart."
He turned to Major Mrad, "Assemble all marines that are not currently piloting a fighter. They will go with you."
"Captain Potter is capable of leading the fighter wing in securing the torpedo. They have already got it to follow them this far." Nack thought it was peculiar that the torpedo was 'interested' in following them thus far, but Potter's tactics seemed sound, so Nack was willing to invest a bit more trust in the marine, going against his normal distrust of them.
"Mr. Stephens, you will stay here. Run some deeper diagnostics on the torpedo."
Nack was interrupted by a communique.
=/\= Dr. Grey to Captain Nack. =/\=
=/\= I'm here, Doctor =/\= Nack hadn't met the doctor, and it was the first female voice he had heard since boarding the ship.
=/\= Sickbay is prepared for injured. May I join you on the bridge? =/\=
=/\= Actually, we need you .... =/\=
=/\= Thank you, sir. On my way. =/\=
"... in sickbay" Nack finished his sentence, but the Doctor ended the transmission and was on her way.
"I guess we could use a Doctor up here," He felt his forehead jokingly for a fever, as if he were beginning to crack under the pressure. He shook his head side to side slowly with a crooked smile. Commander Trek gave a short chuckle at what just transpired.
"In all seriousness, she could probably analyze these psionic energy readings that Mr. Stephens has seen."
Nack plopped down in the Captain's chair, sitting on the edge of the seat so that he didn't have to place his arms high on the large chair.
"Get your shuttle ready, Commander," the Ferengi ordered the Commander. "If my suspicions are correct, the research facility will be empty." he sighed. "Gather as much information as you can, in that case, and return as quickly as possible. The science team here will try to gather as much information as possible from the torpedo in the meantime."
"We have arrived at the outer border of the system, sir." the helmsman announced.
"Proceed as planned," Nack said to the senior officers on the bridge.

"Proceed as planned," Nack said to the senior officers on the bridge.
"Aye, sir," Dan said, standing up and looking at Mrad, then McLean. "Still got that PADD with the information on the Brain?" he asked McLean.
Scott held it up to show that he did indeed. Dan nodded. "Let's go," he said, and headed for the turbolift. Once all three inside and headed down, Dan spoke. "We'll take a runabout rather than a shuttle. Major, assemble your Marines and meet us in the Shuttlebay. Phaser rifles for each of you. Lieutenant McLean and I will get the shuttle ready to go."
<Tag Jamil>
15 minutes later found Dan, Scott and the armed Marines all in the runabout. Good thing too, since the runabout was a bit crowded with all the Marines Jamil had brought.
Dan hit the comm circuit. "Runabout Orion to Nevada. We're ready to depart."
"A runabout?" Nack's voice came back. "I believe I said shuttle, did I not?"
"Yes, sir. But a shuttle wasn't big enough with this Marine detachment we have with us. I hope you don't mind, Captain," Dan said.
"No, not really. You're go for launch, Commander. Be careful out there," Nack said, sounding a tad bit concerned.
"I understand better than anyone the need for that, sir. Orion out," Dan said, and they set sail.
A short time later, they approached the station. It looked rather quiet, and a bit dark. "Vitals?" Dan asked Scott, which was engineering slang for a ship or station's main systems.
"Power usage minimal, but life support and artificial gravity are online and stable. Main computer is offline," Scott reported.
"Well, if we're right," Dan responded, "It's not only offline, its missing."
Dan turned to Mrad. "Major, I'd like you to assign one of your Marine Officers to remain with the runabout while we're on the station. You and the rest will accompany us."
<Jamil>
"I'm setting the transporter to beam us in near where the Main Computer is, but not too close. Don't want to alarm the thing just in case it's still there," McLean said, as he entered in the commands.
A few minutes later, they were aboard the station. The lights were dim, and it was a bit on the warm side compared to environmental control standards.
"Major, I want security sweeps of this entire station. You'll remain with us. Have them report anything unusual," Dan ordered.
<Jamil>
Dan, McLean and Mrad then proceeded to where the computer core was, as or at least should be, according to the schematics. As they reached the door, Jamil stepped in front of the door.
"Commander, allow me to go in first," he requested.
Dan nodded, Jamil opened the door, and with his phaser rifle at the ready, went carefully into the room. "All clear," he said after a moment, but with a slight waver to his voice.
Dan and Scott followed him in, and looked around at an unusual sight. No wonder there was a bit of surprise in the Major's voice. They were looking at an empty space the Brain had clearly occupied. Surrounding the space were masses of a blue substance that Dan recognized as outgrowth of the gelpack the Brain had used to intertwine itself with the Raven when it was first created. It was amazingly complex. It looked as if the bio-neural components were connected directly to the isolinear circuitry in an interface Dan had never seen before. The Brain may have created it itself for just this purpose.
But, despite all the equipment, hardware and bio-neural components throughout the room, one thing was obviously missing.
Dan hit his comm-badge. "Away team to Nevada. It's just as we suspected, Captain. The Brain is gone."

The Nevada finally arrived at its destination, Lenore IV. Followed by the Torpedo. Captain Potter used all his tactical maneuver and his orders to his fighter were followed perfectly. They successfully lured it to near the planet and kept it in the requested distance from the Nevada and from the Planet.
The orders of the Captain were clear; Commander Trek and the Marine will get down to the station and check what happened to the Brain. Commander Trek signaled the Major and Scott to follow him out from the bridge; Jamil wanted to ask Dan how he will fit his Marines in a Shuttle but before he take speak, Dan looked at him and said
"We'll take a runabout rather than a shuttle. Major, assemble your Marines and meet us in the Shuttle bay. Phaser rifles for each of you. Lieutenant McLean and I will get the shuttle ready to go."
The Major nod and went in the opposite direction heading to the Marine quarters. Sergeant Ayoub was standing there waiting for the Major to arrive. "Major, the Marines are ready with minimum armament. I don’t know how we can fit all in a shuttle" The Sergeant asked. Jamil smiled and replied while taking his rifle from a near small armory.
"Well Sergeant, our XO was smart enough to change the shuttle to a runabout. Now Sergeant lets move to the shuttle bay and board our small transport"
The Marine detachment starts moving in order heading toward the nearby shuttle bay. Jamil looked at the runabout, it was bigger than a shuttle and it can hold all the Marines and the 2 Senior Officers but the problem was no place for additional supply and the Major never went to an unknown area without keeping a supply for his Marines.
Minutes later, the runabout was in space approaching the planet atmosphere, initial scans done by Scott reveal almost no new information. Some of the Marines start getting annoyed from the lack of space but the Sergeant kept every thing under control.
The runabout hover near the station, Jamil ordered to of his Marines to stay with the runabout while the others waited to be beamed into the station. Jamil approached the Commander
"Sir, I will beam first with My Marines to secure the area and you will follow me next"
Dan nodded and he step aside giving space for Jamil and his men. "Ok Team, defense pattern Delta". The Marines took a circle position while their back is to each other then the transporter beam envelope the circle and move them to the station.
The area was somehow dark with only emergency lights coming from the roof, Jamil opened his tricorder and start scanning the area then he tape his badge contacting the runabout
=/\= All clear Commander=/\=
Moment later, Dan, Scott and the remaining of the Marines materialized in the room. "Major, I want security sweeps of this entire station. You'll remain with us. Have them report anything unusual," Dan gave his orders to the Major.
Jamil turned and looked to his Marines and start giving his orders "OK Marines, for 4 teams and report to me on any unusual or any contact while scanning the station. Privates Fin and Jin will stay for me; let’s move people"
The Marines disappeared from the room where each one know which team to take and what job to do, the Major was proud of them. Jamil then turned and head toward both Dan and Scott, who were standing in front of a door. Jamil stepped forward and looked at Commander Trek. "I will go first, Sir"
Jamil press the button to open the Door, he picked his rifle in his hand and signaled for the two Marines to get behind him and ready them selves. Jamil slowly enter the room and took a fast look into the room, nothing seems problematic so he replied his finding to the Commander in simple "All clear , Sir" then the small partie enter the room and head near what seemed to look like a huge computer.
The Major waited away from the two officers and start contacting his teams, they report nothing unusual. Jamil then re approach the Commander to hear him contacting the Nevada informing them that no Brain was found and it seems it left the station already.

"Mr. Stephens, you will stay here. Run some deeper diagnostics on the torpedo."
"Aye, Sir," Stephens replied.
Nack was interrupted by a communique.
=/\= Dr. Grey to Captain Nack. =/\=
Stephens felt his heart leap unaccountably at the voice. It was Lucy Grey, she with whom he had had that interesting and slightly harrowing adventure not so long ago.
=/\= I'm here, Doctor =/\=
=/\= Sickbay is prepared for injured. May I join you on the bridge? =/\=
=/\= Actually, we need you .... =/\=
=/\= Thank you, sir. On my way. =/\=
"... in sickbay" Nack finished his sentence, but the Doctor ended the transmission.
"She could probably do more than that," Stephens thought. It had been but a short time since T'Pren had left the ship. Stephens was deeply disappointed with that, and he felt a strong sense of loss. They'd tried so very hard to make a relationship work, and it hadn't, at least like he'd wanted. She had become jealous, and deeply hurtful to him in these past weeks, ever since he and Grey had returned from their away mission. Stephens didn't understand it at all, and now he was left with the fallout of all that.
"Get your shuttle ready, Commander. If my suspicions are correct, the research facility will be empty." he sighed.
Stephens turned to his console, continuing to monitor the psionic waves streaming from the torpedo. They hadn't changed at all since they had picked up the vessel. "Energy stream unchanged, Captain," Stephens said, just as the turbolift doors opened.
There, in the opening, was Lt Grey, CMO insignia shining brightly on her collar. Stephens smiled in her direction, and felt his nerves tuning up for another adventure. Suddenly his chair was unsteady, and he felt his legs growing weak. As Grey came over to his console, all he could manage was a "Hi."

Gone, McLean never thought he would ever hear Commander Trek speak those words about the brain, but here he was saying them. When the brain was first placed into this station the hope was that it would be satisfied with being on a station where it could go but it seems now that it had outgrown the station and was looking for a new home.
McLean walked carefully to the pulsating blue bio gel that twitched as small sparks sprang to life from the exposed life wires from a nearby console. If anything he needed to compare this bio gel to the gel packs on the PADD. Sensors after all could be deceived, McLean thought.
He flipped his tricorder opened and watched as the blue gel sprang to life as the sensors swept over it. The gel acted as if it was trying to reach the tricorder, for what purpose McLean could only speculate but his past history with the brain told him one thing. It was looking for a new home.
I moved the OOC comment to the OOC thread. --- Commander Nack

=/\= Is there any sign of Doctor Pote? =/\= The Doctor, as described in the mission briefing, was a bit reclusive. His lack of communication with Starfleet had become alarming, even for his hermit-like nature. Living with the Brain for so long, interacting with it and studying it, was undoubtedly something only a special few could do. Especially in a remote station like Lenore IV.
<Commander Trek>
Nack checked the monitor. =/\= We are still reading life signs on the Lenore IV. Are you sure there is nobody aboard? =/\= It was perfectly conceivable that the Brain left part of itself on the facility when it left, since common knowledge was that it had been highly integrated into the systems.
Nack stood in compunction. Pote was Vulcan, something of note. Before the Ferengi Commander could finish the thought, a marine pilot's fuzzy transmission came through.
=/\= The Vulcan Torpedo has armed itself. Permission to move to a safe distance and destroy. =/\=
Nack's already large ears perked up even further on the news. "Lieutenant Stephens, give new coordinates to the Fighters and to Mr. Peers. I want them out of the blast range."
=/\= Captain Potter, hold fire. Our science team is going to send you coordinates I want your team to go toward. If the torpedo starts heading toward a colony, or the Nevada, I give you full permission to destroy it. =/\=
"Red Alert" Nack said for the first time in his Command.
The alert sounded, and everyone took their positions.
"Get Commander Trek on the horn. Let him know of our situation. Keep him posted." The operations officer acknowledged the command and continued.
Going back to his hunch, and seeing the Doctor arrive, Nack immediately turned his attention to the woman.
"I'm glad I called you up here." Of course, Nack hadn't called her up to the bridge. It only took a few weeks to realize that the Ferengi generally took credit for things that weren't attributable to his own ideas or actions. Likewise, the corollary was true. Nack often projected minor faults onto others, while cleansing himself of wrongdoing. It wasn't conscious though, and he wasn't lying. The Commander's rewrite of personal history was a natural Ferengi trait, and one that everyone previous had learned to just deal with.
"Ask Starfleet Medical if they can send you a brain activity graph of Doctor Pote. He was," Nack corrected, "...is... the researcher aboard Lenore IV we are searching for. Work with Mr. Stephens. See if there is a similarity with the torpedo's readings."
He had noticed the Science officer had some tension built up inside of him. Ferengis were horrible at hiding their emotions, but great in reading others' hidden emotions. He felt that there would be nothing better than to have this beautiful doctor work with Mr. Stephens. 'How could that be bad?' he thought.

=/\= Is there any sign of Doctor Pote? =/\=
"None, sir. Nor of Alex Dixon, the administrator," Dan reported. The absence of his old friend worried him slightly. Alex give could them valuable information and, more importantly, where was he?
=/\= We are still reading life signs on the Lenore IV. Are you sure there is nobody aboard? =/\=
"No one besides us, as far as we know. Although you may be picking other segments of the Brain. What's missing may just be the Brain's brain, you might say, with the majority of its "body" still remaining. We'll begin investigating it's full extent, sir."
After the comm call ended, Scott got his attention and pointed out the behavior of one pocket of the gel. "I'd say there's still some at least semi-intelligent portion of this thing left behind."
As Scott nodded, Dan's comm badge went off again. "Nevada to Commander Trek." The Ops officer then proceeded the relate the latest events.
"Acknowledged." He then turned to Jamil. "Major, I want to know the full extent of this entity's existence on this station. Give your Marines a description of what you see hear and have them check every major system for the presence of it. That includes Power generators, Life support, environmental control, whatever defenses this station has, and anything else you or they think of."
<Tag Jamil>
Dan then turned to his former protege. "Scott, we need to figure out just how capable what's remaining is on it's own."

"Scott, we need to figure out just how capable what's remaining is on it's own."
“Agreed.” McLean replied while looking around. He had never seen anything like this before, and doubted he would ever see anything like it again. The station felt alive, while at the same time it was dead. Gel oozed from various places where the Brain had disconnected itself leaving Bio gel to flop about and search for the brain much like a lizards tail if disconnected form the body.
McLean had a funny feeling that the Marines were going to head straight for the defensive systems, bypassing the critical life support systems, so he took it upon himself to check up on those systems.
It wasn’t at all hard to move around on the station for McLean, no debris had fallen to the deck, or live wires hanging from bulkheads, the telltale signs of a battle. The problem was that he had no idea where he was going, he had never been on this type of station before and he found himself getting turned around far to easily. Flipping open his tricorder didn’t help either; when he would get to close to a console it would suddenly come alive, as if drawing current from the tricorder itself.
The console that McLean stopped at looked to be an engineering console, at least the diagram of a warp engine suggested the usage, and so McLean planted himself next to the console and began to work. The Chief Engineer first tested the console by waving his active tricorder over it, first to see if he got any sort of reaction, but moreover he wanted to know if it was a standard console or a bio gel infected one. He had a bad experience before touching a gel-infected console and he would rather not go through that again.
The one thing that McLean couldn’t get used to was the smell of the gel packs once they had come in contact with breathable air. There was just something inside the gel packs that didn’t react well to the chemical make up of breathable air, and when it did come in contact with air a foul odder permeated the area. Despite these uncomfortable conditions McLean pressed on.
“Commander,” McLean called Trek over, “As of right now the station is running completely on auxiliary power, and by the looks of it, this station wont last to much longer with out the main power plant back online. We’re going to need a new computer core, or something to run in its place.”
“How long?” Trek asked while in deep thought himself.
“I can’t say for sure, probably 12-18 hours. How long did you plan on staying?” McLean asked. He could see in Trek’s eyes that there was something else. Was the Brain just going out to stretch its legs? What would happen if it returned ‘home’ to find that the station had turned into a lifeless, cold hunk of scrap metal?

As Lt. Junior Grade Park dropped out of warp just out of the Nevada's sensor range, Park knew the crew would be happy to finally have a Tactical officer he hoped having studied the crew roster he was ready to work with the crew.
Having one last glance at the padd park knew he would have to take control of his star fighter soon with 29 of them following him he would have to signal the ship.
Tapping the comboard for the ship "Lt. Junior Grade Park to USS Nevada, Sir i have your order from Starfleet. Permission to dock."
<Tag Nevada>
As he eased the ship into the Hanger bay Park climbed out of the star fighter. As two officers came up to meet him he saw one was a Ferengi " Sir, Lt. Junior Grade Park reporting as ordered." Looking down at his clothes." Sorry for not being in uniform sir i felt a uniform was to lose in the star fighter.
<Tag Nack>
"If you tell me where my Quarters are i will change and meet you on the bridge." Park said grabbing his bag from the storage compartment he left the deck and entered the turbolift " Deck 5" As the lift took him to his deck he exited and turned left walking down the corridor he found his quarters.
Entering his quarters he saw a light blinking on his computer " Computer Replay Message." The computer responded `Play back in progress. " Hi Son congrats on the new assignment to the Nevada, Your not the only one who has moved I got the promotion to Commander first class and made XO of Starbase 76. Your sister Macey has gotten in to the academy and will be heading to starbase 47 soon. Well have fun son. As the screen went blank park reached into his bag and removed his new uniform. Putting it on he exited his quarters and went to the bridge.
Arriving on the bridge Park looked around and saw the bridge was set a little different then the ships he grew up on. Going over to his new station Park relived Lieutenant Klino at the station. Some of the command staff looked at him weird addressing the bridge" I am LT. Junior Grade Jon Park you new Chief Tactical/Security Officer." Tapping some command into the console he scrolled thought the records to get up to date on the mission.

"Energy stream unchanged, Captain," Stephens said, just as the turbolift doors opened. Lucy stepped onto the bridge, smiled with her eyes at Lt. Stephens and went over to the captain.
"I'm glad I called you up here." Captain Nack said firmly.
Dr. Grey felt herself frowning and quickly smoothed her forehead. Not good to let the captain imagine he was incorrect. Maybe he *did* call her up there instead of the other way around.
"Ask Starfleet Medical if they can send you a brain activity graph of Doctor Pote. He was," Nack corrected, "...is... the researcher aboard Lenore IV we are searching for. Work with Mr. Stephens. See if there is a similarity with the torpedo's readings."
Trying hard not to smile with pleasure, Lucy allowed a small smile to grace her lips before saying, "Yes, sir. I'll contact Starfleet Medical immediately."
As Grey came over to his console, all Stephen's could manage was "Hi."
"Good to be working with you again, lieutenant," Lucy said calmly. Then she lowered her voice, saying, "I don't bite, Connor. You should know that by now. We were almost a couple. Maybe we can become one for real."
<Stephens>
She shouldn't have said that. She should have kept her big mouth shut. Then again, Dr. T'Pren was no longer between them.
"I can't deny that I find you... well... appealing," she said using the only word that would come to her. "But we are Starfleet. We will work together as professionals." We can explore other options when we're off duty.
<Stephens>
"I'm sending a subspace message to Starfleet Medical about a brain activity graph of Doctor Pote. I'll need your help reading it. You're good at analyzing graphs and I know that for a fact."
<Stephens>
Turning her attention to the console next to Lt. Stephens, Lucy bent her head in concentration. After satisfying herself with the wording, Lucy sent the message to Cmdr. Talon at Starfleet Medical. Cris Talon was not only assistant to the chief there, she was a friend of Lucy's.
Checking the lifesigns on board the Lenore IV, Lucy noticed a decided spike in the vital signs. Turning around, she voiced the question to whoever could answer: "Are we closer to that thing? Those lifesigns are getting stronger."

The console rejected the input by the new Chief of Security. "You haven't received override access yet, Mr. Park. I apologize."
Nack typed in his security access code, effectively giving access to the new Lieutenant.
The red alert claxon was still blaring. Thirty new fighters sat inside the hull on the fly-through deck in the belly of the Nevada, and Forty old ones circled outside with marine pilots inside of them.
"Mr. Park, the present situation is easier explained than read." He noticed Park accessing file after file, maniacally trying to 'catch up'. ".. but since you are mostly finished," he smiled, "could you do something for me?"
The new Lieutenant awaited his orders as Nack thought about how his plan could work. "Captain Potter, the acting flight wing commanding officer, will undoubtedly want to utilize these new fighters immediately. As the person in charge of this crew, I agree with such a sense of urgency." Nack wet his lips. "I would like for you to coordinate with Captain Potter a way for him and his pilots to switch fighter vehicles to the newer ones. Obviously there are 10 more ships than we are transferring to, but the Ospreys can hold more than two people, so it shouldn't be a problem."
<Park>
"Where this falls under your command, is, we have to do this tactfully enough to maintain a defensive posture around this torpedo during the exchange." He pointed to the viewscreen to the torpedo. The display to his side still flashed showing it was armed.
Since the new fleet of fighters were flown in autonomously, they could take the old fleet of Kaneda fighters back with them, autonomously, when they had a chance. "Leave the Kaneda class out of range of the torpedo, but following us in formation, when you are through."
Simple enough.
"Status on the torpedo?"
Operations responded with no new status, but Lucy, as she wished to be called expressed her concern with the life sign readings.
"Has the torpedo narrowed the distance between itself and the Nevada?
<Peers>
I didn't think so. =/\= Captain Potter, see if you can't coax it away from the edge of the system. We are dangerously close to including civilizations in the blast zone if this thing goes off. =/\=
<Leo>
"And can someone quiet that red alert signal? It's enough to make a Ferengi go deaf!"

"Thank you Sir, I have a few idea's." As Park pressed the console to deactivate the red alert klaxon. " If the Ships i escorted here were flown autonomously, Then what if we sent two Ospreys out at a time and use the transporters to transfer the crew." Using the console in front of him Park called up a map of where the fighters were.
"If we then use the ships as bait to lore the torpedo out of the system by leaking drive plasma it should get the torpedo to head away from any one that it can hurt."
<Tag Nack>
As Park accessed his tactical controls finding himself rejected again Park looked at the Captain "Sir when you have the chance could i have my security codes?" Park asked. Looking across the bridge at the Science Officer Park said "Lieutenant Stephens is there a way that drive plasma from the old ships will work"
<Tag Stephens>
"Well sir i think the next course of action is to talk with Captain Potter and see if he has any idea's. Where is he?"

"Good to be working with you again, lieutenant," Lucy said calmly. Then she lowered her voice, saying, "I don't bite, Connor. You should know that by now. We were almost a couple. Maybe we can become one for real."
Stephens almost choked when he heard her say that, and he immediately blushed scarlet. His hands grew shaky, and his head went blank. He opened his mouth to respond, but nothing came out. He was acutely aware of her proximity, and of her loveliness, and reflexively he thought of T'Pren, who was no longer on the ship, and realized that he did have some feelings for Lucy Grey, and this realization made him blush all the more. He desperately wanted to say something but it came out only as a desperate wheeze.
"I can't deny that I find you... well... appealing," she said. "But we are Starfleet. We will work together as professionals."
Stephens cleared his throat, which seemed to him to take an inordinately long time. He smiled, but almost instantly the smile vanished. His eyes grew large and he cleared his throat again, once more aware of her closeness and the way she smelled, and he was nearly overwhelmed again, but managed to nod and smile once more. "Of course, Lieutenant," he managed to whisper.
"I'm sending a subspace message to Starfleet Medical about a brain activity graph of Doctor Pote. I'll need your help reading it. You're good at analyzing graphs and I know that for a fact."
Graphs! That was the thing! He was good at reading and analyzing data, and his personality made it easy for him to look at things from a different perspective, sometimes combining data in unexpected ways to get at the truth. He was on solid ground here, at last, and, looking at Grey, managed to wink at her and squeeze her hand in a most unobtrusive way. He remembered when they had been captured together, and how close they had become then. It was one of the things over which T'Pren had felt such jealousy, and one of the things which had managed to put Stephens at such ease with Lucy. He did like her, and wanted her to know, and if he ever could get over his tendency to self-destruct in her presence, he'd prbably be very happy with her.
Turning her attention to the console next to Lt. Stephens, Lucy bent her head in concentration.
Checking the lifesigns on board the Lenore IV, Lucy noticed a decided spike in the vital signs. Turning around, she voiced the question to whoever could answer: "Are we closer to that thing? Those lifesigns are getting stronger."
Checking his readouts, Stephens replied, "We are not measurable closer, no. But the signs are indeed stronger. It's as if, when the torpedo armed itself, Lenore IV came alive."
Looking across the bridge at the Science Officer Park said "Lieutenant Stephens is there a way that drive plasma from the old ships will work"
"Possible. But I think that this thing is far too intelligent for a ruse such as that to fool it for long."

"Possible. But I think that this thing is far too intelligent for a ruse such as that to fool it for long."
"True lieutenant" Park said calling up the schematics."But it won't have to be for long what if we transport the warhead before it gets back on course."
<Tag Stephens>
As Park saw the lieutenant look at his console Park saw the same thing on his tactical board it looked like the planet was reacting to the torpedo. Scanning the torpedo Park looked at the power systems. They weren't drawing a lot of power not like a armed torpedo should.
Looking at the weapon systems Park saw everything was at 100%. Good Park thought we didn't need the same thing to happen here as it did in his training on the Hepta. As he started to work on getting the star fighters switched out Park tapped his combadge "Park to Lieutenant Klino, Please work with the hanger deck and get the new ships out to the star fighter crews." Looking at the ship specs park added " Use the Osprey's to transport the teams to there new ships. We need do this fast."
As LT.Klino responded Park knew it would be done faster then he hoped. Soon after ending communication's with Klino, Park was working Ensign Yaj to get the systems ready in case they needed them Park handed the Ensign a padd showing weapon improvements he wanted done. "Take these to Commander Trek when he returns and see if he will approve them. Then get them installed with LT.Klino and Lieutenant Commander Rennick ." After the Ensign left Park turned to Commander Peers "Sir are there any anomaly's around use we can use to our advantage."

"I'd like to get off this station as soon as possible, at least get myself off it anyway," he said, and held up his presently-deactivated holographic arm. "I had to deactive the emitter because I discovered the remainder of the Brain is even more attracted to it than your tricorder. I had a strand that was at least 10 centimeters thick coming after my arm. Near as I can tell it's the most complex computer processor currently present on the station."
"Any other reason to leave besides your arm?" Scott asked, a twinkle in his eye. He was obviously fighting down a grin.
"Indeed. I think the Brain's departure and the failing power systems are related, but I think the cause-and-effect relationship is the other way around. I think the Brain knew the station was in trouble, and therefore took it upon itself to provide for its continued survival. I know, its a bit drastic, but it's true, the Brain may be far more rational than I thought. Which will make it easier to deal with."
Dan tapped his commbadge. "Away team to Nevada."
"Go ahead," Nack's voice said, sounding a little harried.
"We think the Brain chose to abandon the station in response to the failing power systems. I think we've accomplished all we can here, sir," Dan reported

"Excuse me sir." Park said before his captain could respond. Sir addressing the First officer over the comm. "Sir can you make it to Jeffie's tube 28 on deck 4? If so you can restore main power. Activate EPS power tap 38 Baker.

" I believe that if the station is resorted to full power the "brain" may return." Park said to the Captian.
Lieutenant Klino contacted him from the hanger deck informing him that the star fighters crews were switched to there new ships. Tapping his combadge "Thank you Lieutenant, Please return to the bridge." As he scanned the ships both old and new the new ships moved off and the old ships stated near the transfer points. Running continues scans he saw some ships breaking formation. As Lieutenant Klino exited the turbolift Park motioned him over. "Some of the old star fighters are nor responding to the remote commands i need your help to monitor the ships as i look for why the ships aren't responding.
As Park went to the back of the bridge to the pool like monitor he started to review code. Seeing parts missing Park called up the program code and replaced the missing pieces. Lieutenant Klino called from the other side of the bridge." We have the ships back in formation Lieutenant. There are holding position 200 meters off our starboard Shields.
"Sir, the star fighters pilots are in there new fighters. The old one's are under my command remotely. At you command i can move them any where even at warp." looking at Captain Nack.

With the Nevada in no immediate danger, T'Brel was able to scan more of the system. The away team would be reporting in soon and his gut told him that things were not as they appeared. The Brain that they were searching for was close, but he just couldn't put his finger on it just yet.
"Sir are there any anomaly's around use we can use to our advantage."
"Not really, there is a small asteriod field fifty five million kilometers from here," T'Brel said," I'll have the computer look for anything more suspicious."

=/\= Sergeant Ayoub, concentrate your search for any type of gel or similar; try to keep any equipment far from it's reach. I want an update of the finding after 1 hour=/\=
The Major then followed the commanders, he approached one of the panel and start typing in it. he searched for the defense capability of the station. Jamil was amazed of the armament of the station, it seem the Brain was capable of altering the station weapons and update them. a more detailed data confirmed his finding.
"Commander Trek, i need you must take a look on this" Jamil signal the Commander to approach the Terminal where the info are still on the screen. "it seems our Brain friend has make this station like a fortress, when full powered, it is capable of westanding a full assault with it's powerful shield and the anti ship weapon can destroy a galaxy type ship if concentrated on it"
Commander Trek start reading the info with interest while Jamil planned an idea in his head then addressed the commander "I recommend sir, that we destroy the station before the return of the Brain"

"Captain if this was me i would hide in that asteroid field." Scanning the field, it has a particle field that scattered scan's. "Sir the asteroid's are blocking my scan's so if he is here that is where he would be."
Locking sensors on the Field Park ran every scan he could think of looking over at the Science Officer park called out. " Lieutenant Stephens i have run every scan i can think of." Going over to the Science console. I can't lock out the background noise. "Can you help me out?"

"Excuse me sir." Park said before his captain could respond. "Sir can you make it to Jeffie's tube 28 on deck 4? If so you can restore main power. Activate EPS power tap 38 Baker."
"Your efforts are appreciated, Lieutenant, but what you can't see from there is some subtle damage to the EPS grid in that section that would result in an overload and would shut down the power grid entirely," Dan responded.
"I believe that if the station is resorted to full power the "brain" may return.," Dan overhead Park say to the Captain.
"It might, if such were possible," Dan interjected. "This isn't worth our time, Captain."
"Commander Trek, I need you must take a look on this" Jamil said, calling Dan's attention to a console Jamil was working at. "It seems our Brain friend has make this station like a fortress, when full powered, it is capable of westanding a full assault with it's powerful shield and the anti ship weapon can destroy a Galaxy-type ship if concentrated on it."
Dan studied the console with interest. He hadn't paid too much attention to the information on the station itself when he was reviewing the logs on the Brain. This was powerful.
"I recommend sir, that we destroy the station before the return of the Brain."
"I don't think there's need for anything that drastic, Major. I don't think the Brain will be returning. Recall your search teams, Major, we're leaving this station," Dan ordered.

As Park worked with Stephens to get the background noise working Park saw that nothing can be done for now. Going Back over to his console. Park looked over Lieutenant Klino's shoulder as a light alerted him to one of the ships that we had remote control over was drifting away.
Locking sensors on the ship Park ran a scan to find no one on board as he knew there wouldn't be. Running a check on the remote control program. Looking confused the program had been altered for that ship. Turning to Klino "Did you alter the program for ship 18?" As he told Park that he had not Park ran a trace program.
Seeing that the program alteration's were placed in the program only a few minutes ago, Park saw that it wasn't from any console on the bridge. As the trace continued he saw that it was from his office. Looking at the Capitan Park asked " Sir, Has anyone been in my office since your last Tactical Officer left."
<Tag Nack>
"I have traced a problem with our remote control program to the console located in my office on deck 15." Looking at the screen he saw the program being accessed again now on deck 11. ~What is going on. Park thought. First it shows the console being used was in his office now it showed the console being use was 4 decks up on the other side of the ship that wasn't possible unless he was using a bouncing program to reroute the traceback.
As he continued to track the problem it went all over the ship hr found the program being accessed from 12 other stations once even from the helm. Looking at the Captain Park said " Sir, I have traced the problem to deck 15 section 21 alpha, Just outside my office."

"Aye," Nack said to Park, who had just completed inundating the new Captain and the bridge with orders, requests, and new commands.
"If I remember correctly, Commander Trek told me that he was leaving a Flotsam Bedbug... Flockum Blor... Bl. Belrug! that's it. Flotsam Belrug in charge of engineering until Starfleet can make an appointment to the position." Of course, the name was 'Florkem Belrug'. Nack was usually good with names, but being in command had fried his nerves a bit, and he wasn't at the top of his game. "She would be at a terminal outside your office, as it would be outside of her office as well. You might want to check with her to make sure she isn't running a diagnostic on the systems. The processing interruptions could cause a lag in formation." His familiarity with holo-programing, and the nuances of such, was useful finally. The autopilot programming wouldn't be much different. It was still telling a computer how to 'behave' in a sense. "I'm not too worried about that right now."
"Initiate red alert again, just not so loud" Nack said. "this torpedo is armed, we think, and we are in immediate danger." he pointed to the view screen, to where the eerie tube of destruction rotated slowly against the dark background.
Switching gears, "Mr. Dolor, Prepare the docking bay for the return of the runabout." he said to the operations Commander.
"When the away team returns, we are going to ..." he didn't finish his sentence, instead watching the science and medical officers holding hands. Perhaps putting these two together was a mistake.
"...going..too search for our Brain." he rolled his eyes when the two still hadn't released grip.
*Ahem* Nack cleared his throat loudly. "I'm glad we all get along well up here, but I am still waiting on an analysis of the correlation between Pote's brain waves and the torpedo's." He did his best to dip an eyebrow, the way Captain Cir'kem did when she was onto his charades back on the USS Victory. He hoped he could pull it off, as it was always effective with him.
"Mr. Peers, take us to the asteroid field. Do not enter it. We have forty fighters following us now, and I don't wish to have them fly aimlessly behind us. With Park's observation, some of them are flying astray."
Too much was going on at once, and Nack's four lobed brain wanted to explode. He rubbed back lobes with his fingertips.
"Mr. Park, track down the issue you found with the fighter wandering. Let me know what you find." when Park didn't immediately move, Nack remembered, "Oh, right.. access codes. I thought I did this once." he typed it in. "Ah, didn't hit save." He smiled, fooled again by technology. Embarrassing for a Captain, but not a Ferengi Captain. It was just a small oversight - one that could be blamed on the faulty layout of the ship's consoles, and not on forgetfulness.

“I recommend sir, that we destroy the station before the return of the Brain." The Major had taken the words right out of McLean mouth.
"I don't think there's need for anything that drastic, Major. I don't think the Brain will be returning. Recall your search teams, Major, we're leaving this station," Dan ordered.
McLean listened from a fair distance to the conversation taking place and knew he felt the same way as the Major, it was just that with Dan already saying no it seemed useless to add in his own input. The Marine took the orders from Trek and went about his duties but McLean continued to ponder the idea of destroying the station as a matter of precaution.
Walking almost as if he was trying to sneak up on Trek, McLean finally spoke when he got close to the Commander, “Dan,” McLean said trying to be as casual as possible, “I have to agree with the Major, this station could end up being a liability we could regret. Even if we aren’t going to destroy it, should we disarm the station before the internal power shuts off?”

"Mr. Park, track down the issue you found with the fighter wandering. Let me know what you find."
"Yes Sir, I'll be on deck 15 should i be needed." Turning to LT. Klino "Remain at tactical till i return." Exiting the bridge Park said "deck 15 brig" As the lift took him to the deck the turbolift doors opened just in front of his office. Park looked to his left where he saw two crewman working to the very console he came to inspect. Looking at them Park addressed them" Excuse me but how long have you two been at this terminal?" As the two crewman looked at each other in puzzlement they replied "Just a few minutes sir, Why?"
"Someone has assessed a program that is restricted. Please step away from the console." As the two crewman moved away Park opened locker just to his left and removed a tricoder. Opening it Park scanned the console. It was sure enough the one the program was accessed from but they covered there tracks very well. Park found other programs that were accessed including a few captains logs making a note to tell Nack, Park continued to search. Tapping his combadge Park said =/\= Park to Lt. Klino can you see if the program is being accessed now or not."
As Klino checked the program on the bridge he saw that it was tapping his combadge "The program is being accessed right now. from the console your at." That's funny Lt. because i am not in the program i am in another system screen altogether.
As Park continued to scan the console he ran thought a list of all crew who had the skills to make mods like this. thinking about it Park erased the ability to access the program from any console but his on the bridge and his office then he mad a copy of the mod to bring to both Science and engineering to pick apart the program for clues. taking the ticorder and placing it his holster park looked at the two techs "Have you seen or did anyone pass you before you arrived at this console?" The looked at him "No one Sir but we were sent to this console only after someone in formed use it was malfunctions, so we came to repair it."
Satisfied about the answer Park tells the crewmen to finish there work. Park reenters the turbolift and returns to the bridge. Heading to the tactical station Park hands Lt.Klino a padd about his finding on deck 15.
Turning to Captain Nack Park says "Sir may i talk to you a moment in private?"

“Dan,” McLean said, “I have to agree with the Major, this station could end up being a liability we could regret. Even if we aren’t going to destroy it, should we disarm the station before the internal power shuts off?”
Dan thought a moment, then said, "Yes, that's best. Get on it."
A short time later, the runabout, which was once again piled high with Marines, docked back onto Nevada. After the Marines filed out, Dan slowly stepped off the runabout, his mind occupied with the present situation.
"You okay, Dan?" McLean said from behind him.
"What? Oh, yes I'm fine, Scott," Dan responded, and the Red Alert klaxon finally registered. "My head's just buzzing with all that's happening. Return to Engineering for now, get Florkem up to speed. I'm going to the Bridge, and hopefully find out what the Read Alert's about."
<Tag Scott>
Dan returned to the Bridge. "What's happening, Captain?" Dan asked as he took his station.
"While you were on the Station our new CTSO arrived with our new Fighters. The Kanedas are on autopilot, but one is a deviant. We're not sure why. What'd you find over there?" Nack asked, nodding toward the station.
"The Brain's brain is gone, but the body is still there, and is looking for a new brain to cling on to," Dan said, holding up his arm and reactivating it. "I had to deactivate my holo-prosthetic because it was too appealing to the remains. Also found a defensive system that rivals a Sovereign-class. We disarmed that."
"Thoughts?" Nack asked.
"If the reason the Brain abandoned the station was due to a failing power system, it may easier to reason with than I thought. But that doesn't explain why it's been attacking ships in the area," Dan reported, and noticed the Captain was seeming a bit frazzled.
Dan stood, and came over behind Nack. He touched the Captain's shoulder, and transfered a wave of mental energy, helping to calm the Captain. "Does that help, sir?"
