"I am sorry Sir." Park started. "I was tracking who were thought was crewman Wolf as you can see from the Padd. It turned out that both Wolf and Riker were aliens from a near by planet." I was unaware about the power drain and i take full responsible for the life support lose. Yet time was critical so i use my security override and ordered a transport." As Park finished and watched the Capitan review the Padd. As he glanced at Commander Trek was looking for a little more.
"I have the two alien's in the brig and we have located the real Wolf and Riker they need to continue to sample there DNA to continue to be humanoid." Looking at Commander trek directly "Sir, there was no time to contact you i felt the situation warranted the transport."
Finally the Capitan decided to voice his opinion. Looking at the Captian as he spoke park felt a little lightheaded. Some side affect are expected. But as the Capitan finished he knew he was going to be fine.

Alien's in the Brig! And I wasn't informed until now!?"
Nack had slept an entire shift's worth of sleep with two aliens aboard, and it frustrated him.
"And you were out of it the entire time?" Nack's voice turned more sympathetic, but his eyes showed anger, and that anger was going to be directed somewhere... the first person holding blame.
Park started to give a litany of reasons why his team had not breifed the Captain of the intrusion information. Nack ignored him as he read the padd.
"These are just pirates. We picked them up before we left for Lenore IV." This relieved him a bit. That was before the security chief had come aboard, and after their previous one had resigned. The pirates probably took the opportunity to board at the Starbase, and continued on their journey.
"And with forty Kaneda class fighters out there without pilots, it was probably way too tempting to pass up." Nack bobbed his head, slightly nodding as he did so. He realized the seriousness of the situation, but it no longer bothered him.
"As for Mr. Thomas," Nack looked defeated, "Mr. Trek, you can handle any breakdown of command here. We should have been notified about this earlier." The lack of concern in Nack's voice made everyone realize he just wanted this to be over. "You two take care of this."
Nack exited to the bridge.
"Status,"
"Colonel Mrad has coordinates for the fighters, sir," T'Brel Peers commented first. "The computer has laid out a flight plan for them."
"Good!" Finally, progress.
"Mr. Stephens, any luck on communicating with the Torpedo?" Nack asked. But none had been made. "Keep trying."
Nack turned to Commander Grey. "What abou..." but his sentence was cut off as Klino, the assistant tactical officer, reported.
"Sir, the torpedo has entered the asteroid field ahead of us. It's using our mapped pathway for search."
"Mr. Peers, can you confirm?" to which he could.
"Take us in after it. Maybe it will take us to the Brain."
Nack started to think that following the torpedo would be a good idea. What if the torpedo was looking for the Brain as well. After all, it was some sort of incarnation... or instantiation, rather, of it. It might have known the odds were better if it followed us.
Nack tapped the computer console. Peers had broadcasted it's search coordinates to Mrad... perhaps the torpedo intercepted and decided to move ahead of us.
"New plan. We are to assume the torpedo is traveling after ther Brain, and we will be following it in hopes of recovering the Brain."
Commander Trek had one small protest. "What if it is trying to find it to blow it up?"
Eww. Nack hadn't thought of that, and it was rather embarrassing to not have thought of such a scenario. "Until we get further information, we are going to use the torpedo as our dozing stick. Procede everyone."
=/\= Colonel Mrad, prepare the fighter squadron and follow the torpedo. On first sign of foul play, I want that thing destroyed. =/\=

The promotion to Lt. Commander after the briefing came as a surprise to Dr. Grey and even more shocking was the captain shaking her hand in congratulations. All pleasant occurrences, of course, but shocking nonetheless. Her first thought was that she could now order Lt. Stephens to have dinner with her. Giggling, knowing she would never do that, Lucy made her way back onto the bridge.
Lt.Cmdr. Grey [she was going to have to get used to that!] stared at the brain wave pattern on the screen in front of her. Since the ship was fired upon [she assumed that was the reason for the shaking and scaring the life out of her] and her first instinct to reach out and hold onto Connor was thwarted, she forced her attention to return to the research she was trying to do.
The idea came into her head full-grown and complete. She turned to Connor, saying, “Brain fingerprinting.” At his baffled look which instantly cleared away as he remembered the concept himself, Lucy continued, “We trace the brain’s ability to recognize words. Dr. Pote will recognize some but the artificial intelligence won’t have that same recognition. By the same token, Pote will not recognize all of what the AI will. What do you think?”
<Stephens>
“Oh. I hadn’t considered that...” Lucy let her fingers rest on the keyboard while she visualized the two brains which now were merged into one. “We have Pote’s history. Things he would not have thought of consciously. The AI would have no reason to delve into that part of Pote’s memories. So, we can take that as our starting point. Gradually, we can separate them.
<Stephens>
“Then we can determine which direction the AI’s thoughts are going. Do you think it’s still a child? Searching for something to connect with?”
<Stephens>
Lucy turned to face Captain Nack and Cmdr. Trek. “Captain, disarming the torpedo might not be necessary. “We can give it a virus. It gets sick, confused, and ....” not meaning to upset anyone but the words came out of her mouth anyway, “either blows up or disarms itself.” Noticing a startled look on several of the crew’s faces, Lucy hastily added, “The virus will be a sedative, sir. I can put something like that together quickly.”
In the background, Dr. Grey heard the calls to sickbay. Her feet were starting to move in that direction when she was ordered to stay where she was. Disabling the torpedo was more important to the safety of the ship. Displeased with a decision she had no part in making and knowing the captain was correct, Lucy turned back to her console.

"As for Mr. Thomas," Nack looked defeated, "Mr. Trek, you can handle any breakdown of command here. We should have been notified about this earlier. You two take care of this."
"Aye, sir," Trek said, bowing slightly as his CO exited. Park moved as if to follow, so he added, "Stay for a minute, Lieutenant."
He leaned against the Captain's desk. "We're being more tolerant because we understand that you're new to being CTSO, and therefore aren't yet fully familiar with your duties and responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is that any time any issue comes to your attention that affects or, in particular, threatens the safety and well-being of this ship and crew as a whole, you are to bring it to the attention of myself or the Captain. Now, if you ever wonder whether something warrants our attention, follow this philosophy: when in doubt, bring it to our attention. We won't think less of you if it turns out to be unnecessary. We'd rather you brought too much to our attention than too little. Over time, you'll learn to judge what and what not to bring to us. If you ever have any questions, my office door is always open. Now, let's get back to the Bridge," he said, and motioned for Park to exit.
Dan entered just in time to hear the Captain say, "New plan. We are to assume the torpedo is traveling after ther Brain, and we will be following it in hopes of recovering the Brain."
Dan saw one small possible flaw in this. "What if it is trying to find it to blow it up?"
A few minutes later, Doctor Grey turned from a console.
“Captain, disarming the torpedo might not be necessary. “We can give it a virus. It gets sick, confused, and....either blows up or disarms itself.” Noticing a startled look on several of the crew’s faces, Lucy hastily added, “The virus will be a sedative, sir. I can put something like that together quickly.”
"Certainly sounds like a better option than what I've proposed, Captain," Dan said, seconding the idea. "We could deliver it by a very careful target lock with the transporter. We place the virus within a semipermeable membrane, so it can be delivered once it arrives. To ensure that it doesn't leak out first, we could encase it in something more solid, and program the transporter to not reconstitute the solid outer casing during rematerialization. I'd say do that and skip the membrane casing altogether, but reconstituting it without any container whatsoever seems too problematic. The casing wouldn't take any longer to prepare than the virus itself."

As they left left the room Park replied "yes sir." Heading back to the tactical station and relived Lt. Klino. As he listened to doctor Gray's and Commander trek's idea he saw a little flaw of his own."Commander the last transporter refit doesn't allow use to transport any Bio-Hazard substance in any form, Yet a Class 5 probe or torpedo without the warhead could be used." Turning to the console in front of him. Calling up the details of the last refit restrictions and showing the Commander who had come over to his station. "From what i can tell a Mark 4 torpedo or this class 5 probe with a modification we can approach the torpedo undetected i hope."
<Tag Trek>
As Trek, Gray and Park work on getting the plan in into action he knew he had to go to the brig and sickbay to find out how riker and wolf were doing and interview the alien's. "Looking over at Thomas as he and Klino worked to make sure all weapons were ready should they need them Park asked Commander Trek. "Sir, What will happen to the alien's after the mission and should we allow them to retain humanoid form."

"Commander the last transporter refit doesn't allow use to transport any Bio-Hazard substance in any form, Yet a Class 5 probe or torpedo without the warhead could be used." Dan let out a mental sigh as he walked back over to the CTSO, reading over things he was well aware of. "From what i can tell a Mark 4 torpedo or this class 5 probe with a modification we can approach the torpedo undetected i hope."
"Lieutenant, I once again appreciate your initiative, but there are two problems with your proposal. The first is that your plan does not provide a way to effectively deliver the virus into the organism itself, and secondly, I can get around these restrictions. In fact I helped write some of them. They are easily circumvented with my clearance codes. Of course, I prefer not to go around safety protocols, so perhaps we can modify your plan. Our challenge is to get the payload directly into the biological component of the torpedo before the torpedo can realize what's going on."
As they worked on the latest idea, Park asked, "Sir, What will happen to the alien's after the mission and should we allow them to retain humanoid form?"
"They will most likely be incarcerated and interrogated. As for allowing them to retain their present form, you'll need to ask the Captain, but as long as they are properly confined, I don't see why not. Do you have any concerns with allowing them to?"

As Park listened to the Commander and thought ~Nice Park put your foot in your mouth again, ofcourse he knows about the last update until a short time ago he was the Chief engineer of the USS Nevada.~
"Yes ,sir i would like to see what you have in mind." After a few hours of working on the plan he had turned to the commander and asked about the alien's in the brig and was told to ask the Capitan. After they had finished working on the modifications of the plan Park took a padd over to the Capitan showing him the progress they had made.
"Sir may i ask a question?. The alien's in the brig as i understand the doctor's report they need Humanoid DNA to remain in shape right? I understand Riker and wolf don't want to give them a sample. I have spoken to some crew and they have agreed to give them what they need to keep humanoid form. Should you agree."
<Tag Nack>
As the Capitan thinks about the request Park has made he is concerned the Capitan won't not approve. Park looked away and saw Lt.Klino and Thomas enter the bridge and waved him to the tactical console turning to the Capitan "Excuse me sir but Lt. Klino and Thomas are here to give me an update." Waving to the two officers over to them they came down. Thomas handed Park a padd and reported to them both as park read the padd. " Weapons, Shields and main power is at 100%. Secondary system's are at 100%. Our visitors are in the brig and doctor Watson has report that they have about two hours until they need to sample another DNA strand to remain in there form's." "Thank you Mr.Thomas.." As the two officers returned to the tactical station Park looked at the Capitan "Sir if there is nothing else i will return to my office and then interrogate the alien's."

"My main concern is not with the two aliens," Nack replied to Park. "What's wrong with them reverting back to their normal state, whatever that may be?"
He stood in compunction for a few seconds before adding, "If you really need them in humanoid form to question them, couldn't you get a sample of DNA from sickbay... just a generic synthetic strand? It seems to me that all you will need is something that is able to speak as a human."
All of this was beginning to mask the big picture though. The torpedo was already far ahead of them, but Commander Peers had been keeping the distance between them constant as they avoided the asteroids.
It had been an hour that they have been following the torpedo now, and considerable progress had been made on communicating and disabling the weapon. Commander Trek, as usual, came up with a way of permanently paralyzing it... typical for an engineer. Commander Grey, as was typical for medical, came up with a way to sedate it. Both options were on the table, but which to use would depend on the circumstances.
<work your status into the story, all>
Nack looked at the console, "Why are the fighters still on the lower flight deck?" The Kaneda fighters had been left outside of the asteroid field, awaiting pickup from Starfleet. The Ospreys and Eagles were on board.
Kast reported, "Sir, Colonel Mrad was struck by some sort of explosion on one of the Ospreys. He has been taken to sickbay."
Nack growled for the first time on his new ship. Former crewmates heard the deep hissing sound, bubbling phlegm in the back of his throat, but this crew hadn't yet. It was indicative that he was growing increasingly frustrated at the situation, and had nobody but dumb luck to blame. The Acting Captain hated only having luck to blame.
"Mr. Park, assign someone from your team to temporarily oversee the marine squadron. Get those fighters out and ready. Do it yourself if you have to, this is more important than interrogations." although, getting to the bottom of pirates on his ship would be a priority soon enough.
It seemed like hours ago that Nack had given the order to start a search on the asteroid field, and the search was to commence in fifteen minutes. Now, the search was on the terms of this torpedo... and they still had no idea if it were hostile to them, or not.
"What is the probability, given our current orientation relative to the asteroids, that a Vulcan ship could be hiding somewhere we haven't looked or cannot see yet?" He asked the question openly, but expected someone in the science department to answer.
"Mr. Peers, diverge from the torpedo. Follow only those paths that we cannot view from our current position. I want to ensure we back this ship into a corner based on our search pattern if it is out there."
<Peers>
The move, obviously, would leave the torpedo by itself, for which Nack was already prepared. "Lieutenant Park, have the fighters follow the torpedo. Stay a safe distance away. While they are out there, have them search for ion trails left by a Vulcan ship. If the torpedo is looking for the Vulcan ship as well, I want to know before it finds it."
Nack sat down in his chair, which was by now the correct size for his slender and short build. With his fist clenched, and used as a prop for his chin, he waited for any further news, good or bad.

"Mr. Park, assign someone from your team to temporarily oversee the marine squadron. Get those fighters out and ready. Do it yourself if you have to, this is more important than interrogations."
As he heard the Capitan's orders park replied from the tactical station "Aye, Sir." Thinking about it he tapped his combadge =/\= Lt. Smith and Jones meet me on the hanger deck." Hading to the turboift he also contacted the Marines on board and had them report to the hanger deck as well. As park arrived he saw all the Marines standing around and Jone's and smith were looking confused.
"There has been a accident with your Acting CO Mr.Mrad he is in sickbay. Until the Capitan has found a replacement has given me the order of assigning one of my officers in charge to that end i am placing Lt. Jones in charge of the Marines. 1st Lieutenant smith will also assist Jones. Now the Capitan wants the new fighters in the air so to speck now you have five minute's. Dismissed!
As he saw the Marines head over to get their flight suits both Lt. Jones and smith came over to him. Seeing the look in smith's eye Park held up his hand. "Mr. smith now isn't the time you have a torpedo to track. Lt. Jones is more then capable of leading the group i will speck to the Capitan about having you replace Mrad when this is finished until then you have your orders. i suggest you get suited up." As Smith went to get suited up Park took Jones over to the side of hanger deck. " I feel you are ready for a command spot and Smith is not that is all there is to it. Now you have your orders. Good luck.'
With that Park left the Hanger deck and Started to head back to his office to make a log entry about the change in marine command, But as he stepped in to turbolift his combadge chirped tapping it =/\= "Park here. go ahead" hearing Thomas's voice park was surprised "Sir your needed on the bridge immedialy." "Understood Commander i am on my way. Park Out." Looking at the computer grid "Computer bridge." as the lift changed direction Park knew he could make the change at his station, however he wanted to reveiw the status report Thomas had given him a little while ago.
As the lift stooped on the bridge Park exited and headed over to his station and looked at what his two officers were looking at. The new fighters were being released from the hanger bay Looking to the Capitan Park said " Capitan the new fighter are out of the hanger bay."

"Captain, I've read through the duty doctor's report and with the aliens using the bodies of our crew, I think the Nevada's crew should come first. Unless we have the permission of the crew members themselves, the aliens need to revert to their original state."
Lucy glanced at Lt. Stephens as if hoping for approval. Realizing that wasn't necessary nor, indeed, wanted, Lucy returned her attention to the bridge's Ferengi Captain, sitting in his remodeled chair.
<Nack>
"Starfleet's main priority is this ship. It only seems right that the aliens give up the bodies of our crew. I also think that the universal translator will work whether they have a body or not."
<Nack>
"There is one other thing, sir. A communications stream to the torpedo with the virus inside should give us some kind of information regardless of the outcome. If the thing is hostile, we'll be attacked and if not, we won't. Shouldn't we take that chance?"

Park over heard the doctor's option that the aliens should revert to there original form growing concerned that the alien's may posse a greater threat in there natural form Park excused him self from his tactical station and headed over to were doctor Grey and the Capitan.
"Excuse me doctor but how do you know the alien's aren't more of a threat in the really forms or that we will be able to understand them after all they did have to copy the DNA of the crew for us to communicate. If you are looking for crew to donate DNA strands i will and i have a few other crew who will as well ."
As the Capitan looked annoyed at the new security officer park knew he had a point and ship safety was his responsibility. If he didn't voice his option the Capitan may feel he was not doing his job right and he was already scoring low because of the incident the other day.
Looking directly at the Capitan he added "Of course what ever you decide i will obey,Sirs."Looking at the doctor as well after all she was a Superior officer.

"Well we're certainly not going to use your DNA, Lieutenant Park. We don't need an alien intruder that's a duplicate of our Chief of Security running around, so to speak. No, I would agree with using a generic strand of DNA, if such is available."
Dan turned his attention to a console when it beeped. "Captain, a ship just appeared on long-range sensors. The hull design is Vulcan. I believe it's the ship we're after, sir."
"Are you certain it's the one, Commander?" Nack asked, looking to his First Officer.
"Aye, sir," he said, then tapped a few more keys, "As it and our torpedo out there are each on direct intercept courses with one another."

Lucy was fully aware that the chief of security had the ship's safety in mind. It was right for him to voice his concerns.
Park turned to the captain and said, "Of course what ever you decide i will obey, Sirs." His glance came back to Dr. Grey.
"You do have a point, Mr. Park." Before she could say more, the XO spoke up.
"Well we're certainly not going to use your DNA, Lieutenant Park. We don't need an alien intruder that's a duplicate of our Chief of Security running around, so to speak. No, I would agree with using a generic strand of DNA, if such is available."
"I don't think a generic strand would work, sir," Dr. Grey said calmly. She was being awfully calm these past hours. Maybe it was the promotion, maybe it was Stephen and maybe it was simply the fact that she knew her job as well as the security officer knew his. "If there are volunteers among the crew, I'll agree to that. But the two that involuntarily volunteered need to be released. My staff needs to determine if there has been damage done to their bodies. AND, Lt. Park, may I remind you that the physical health and safety of this crew is MY responsibility. I am aware you have that same concern and I fully respect that."

As Park heard the first officers report he bolted to the tactical station and had Lt.commander Thomas move to the secondary tactical station and called up the map showing him where the ship and torpedo was.
Looking over Commander Trek Park asked "Should i arm our modified torpedo,Sir." As he saw trek look at him with puzzlement. "I have the torpedo we modified in bay 2 ready for launch.

As Thomas handed Park a padd Park hears a alarm chirp on his board looking down Park tapped some control seeing the data on his screen park looked at the Capitan "Sir. The star fighter with the marine lesion has moved toward the torpedo. Should i tractor him back?

"I'll leave Commander Trek in charge of deciding this one, as choosing human DNA for these lifeforms is a personnel issue. I don't see the security risk either way, as we've already done most of our questioning."
The Acting Captain quickly removed the pirate issue from his list to make room for the purpose of the mission, to secure the Vulcan ship.
"Time until intercept?"
<T'Brel>
Lieutenant Park asked if he should tractor the star fighter back.
"Negative. In fact, send as many fighters necessary to stop the torpedo from intercept."
While the torpedo seemed to be intent on reuniting with the Vulcan Starship, it couldn't be discounted that it might be taking it out.
"Any life signs on the Starship?"
"One." the operations officer announced.
Nack took a sideways glance at Commander Trek. It was something they had discussed a few days prior in private. The missing caretaker. Pote, it was decided, was in the torpedo. But the caretaker... the name escaped the Ferengi.... he was still missing. Perhaps he was being held hostage by this brain.
"Science, get on it." Nack barked unintentionally harsh.
"Mr. Park, send our virus over to the torpedo. We want to disable it, not destroy it. And keep those fighters on it."
Nack looked around in a whirlwind of thoughts. All of this was happening so fast. He wasn't sure if he was even doing the right thing.
"Hail the Vulcan Ship."

"Aye,Sir dispatching fighters." Tapping his controls Park contacted all the star fighter and had 15 of the 30 sent after the torpedo. as he watched the torpedo his combadge chirped "Jones to Park, Why is my group being held back?" As park answered back "Well Lieutenant if they fail we need a second line of defense and your it. Park out."
Mr. Park, send our virus over to the torpedo. We want to disable it, not destroy it. And keep those fighters on it."
"Yes,sir activation transporters." As the virus was transported to the torpedo Park reported. "Virus deployed." after a few minutes " There is no indication that the virus is working ." looking at his board Park saw something he wasn't expecting. the torpedo had healed itself. "Doctor Grey your assistance please." As the doctor joined him he showed her the screen." The virus was neutralized by a counter agent. It's like the torpedo healed itself what do you make of it."

Using her personal medical codes, Dr. Grey went into the back end of the code stand. There it was... a missing and/or command. Checking the if/then scenario and finding it correct, she keyed in another virus community
"Are you sure that will work Doctor?" Park asked as he watched her revise the codes and then set up a new virus to infect the torpedo.
Lucy shrugged. "I really don't know. All we can do is hope." Turning to look at the security officer directly, Dr. Grey asked, "Are you wanting us to fail?"
Looking at the doctor in shock. "No ma'am i don't want that. I can understand how you can think that."
"Just a tiny little spark in your eyes, lieutenant. Like you'd rather see the torpedo destroyed."
"If that is what has to happen doctor." Park replied. As the doctor looked on Park transfered the virus to the new torpedo and sent it off. Turning to the Capitan "Sir the new virus is heading to the torpedo. The virus has been transfered over." looking at the doctor "If this plan failed do you have a back up."
"I don't know, Lt. Park. Why don't you tell me?"
As he looked at the doctor and indicated the screen. "Well if the virus fails i have an idea for the fighters to push the torpedo into a asteroid, should that fail then i will fire on it to keep us all safe. I really don't want it to come to that because i have been looking your medical scans. From what i can tell witch in honesty isn't much i only have a little more then basic first aid , however i believe the torpedo is being controlled telepathic. so destroying it would kill the Controller." Do you agree with my assessment doctor" Park asked to her

"Do you agree with my assessment doctor" Park asked.
Trying hard not to frown or show any kind of emotion the way she would facing the family of a patient, Lucy smiled slightly.
"I must agree with you. I'm sorry but it's been my experience that security tends to blow things up. Or shoots at things." Dr. Grey turned to face Captain Nack. "Sir? Your orders? I'm sure that if the virus gets in, we'll have a sleepy torpedo. How long do we wait?"

"I must agree with you. I'm sorry but it's been my experience that security tends to blow things up. Or shoots at things."
"That's ok doctor i understand the stereotype us security personal give off. " Park replied. Dr. Grey turned to face Captain Nack. "Sir? Your orders? I'm sure that if the virus gets in, we'll have a sleepy torpedo. How long do we wait?"
As they waited for the Capitan to make up his mind Park's console beeped in alarm. Looking down Park saw the torpedo had stopped, that was the good news, the bad new was the Vulcan ship was now entering to asteroid Field and was 200,000 yards from the torpedo. Park relayed the info to the Capitan and Commander and waited.
As the Capitan contiued to think Park kept a close watch on the torpedo and the Vulcan ship tapping his combadge =/\= "Park to Lt. Jones head to the vulcan ship and escort it out of the asteroid Field." Jones replied "What if they don't follow us.". Park tought about and answered "Then stay by them in case the torpedo move to intercept them."

Before Nack could answer Lieutenant Park, the information of the torpedo's stand-still reached the Captain and diverted his attention.
"And the Vulcan ship is now making its way toward the torpedo?"
Commander Trek confirmed, and Nack continued to bounce ideas off of him.
"I think we can discount that the torpedo is hostile toward the Vulcan ship. If it were, I would expect the ship to realize it was being chased and to leave."
Turning to Commander Peers, "Are we able to intercept; put ourselves between the two?"
But Nack didn't receive the answer he wished to receive, and turned back to Commander Trek. "We are being blocked by asteroids, the ship and torpedo want to reunite... do we let them? Or do we continue to allow the fighters to intercept?" He paced as he allowed Trek to think and reply.
"I suggest we let them reunite." he said to the Ferengi, pointing to the screen.
It was already too late, as Commander Trek had pointed out. The shuttle bay of the Vulcan ship had opened and consumed the torpedo. Nack stared open mouthed, clearly un-captain-like. It was his first mission in charge, though. Hopefully everyone understood.
Kast, at operations, spoke. "Sir, we are being hailed by the Vulcan ship." All movement on the bridge ceased as everyone waited for Nack to accept the hail.
"Put it through," The Ferengi said as he pointed his yellowish finger at the screen.
An image of a pink and purple blob appeared on the screen. Barely recognizable was the outline of a humanoid... except for the face. The face was very recognizable.
"Captain Dixon..." Commander Trek gasped.
"Commander Grey, verify" Nack snickered quickly to Lucy behind him.
The humanoid blob seemed connected to the ship. What should have been a Vulcan bridge was instead a network of bio material. And then it spoke.
"USS Nevada, registry N N C seven five zero zero seven four B, please surrender your ship, and nobody will be harmed." The face of Dixon cringed at the word 'harmed', leading Nack to believe he was against the words he uttered.
Apparently Nack took too long to answer. In an instant, a continuous phaser fire emitted, destroying one of the fighters.
"Park, get the fighters out of there." Nack yelled, as another fighter was targeted and destroyed.
"What is it you want? Perhaps we can just give you our technology."
Commander Trek interrupted. "It needs space. It doesn't care about technology."
"We have forty fighters outside of this asteroid system," Nack said, addressing Dixon.. the Brain.. whoever was in control of reasoning on the Vulcan ship. Of course, they would remove all weaponry first.
"Negative Captain. I require your ship. We have already destroyed multiple cargo ships that have not suited our needs and wished to report our existence."
"We?" Nack said out loud. "There are more than one of you?"
"The torpedo." Commander Trek said. "The torpedo IS a separate entity. Commander Grey and Lieutenant Stephens were right!"
The Brain did not respond for a moment before responding. "If you would like to see Doctor Pote and Captain Dixon again, you will surrender your ship."
Nack muted the transmission. "Mr. Stephens, work with Commander Grey to see if there is any chance of us disassociating the Captain and Doctor from this Brain."
"Resume transmission," he said to Kast.
"I will give you our ship, if you can ensure our safe passage. Our mission is peaceful, and I'd rather ensure the safety of my crew than secure a Starship. However, we will need to evacuate to our fighters."
"Agreed. Please meet at the coordinates I am transmitting." the Brain responded before ending transmission.
Nack turned to his crew. "I have NO interest in giving up this ship. I was just buying us some time. Mr. Peers, take us to the preset coordinates... slowly."
"What a day to be a Marine," he said to Park, who was inexperienced in death, dealing with the loss of two crew-members. Nack had already been hardened to it, and thus showed no emotion. It wouldn't be until he had to contact the families of the victims that he would feel the emotional pain.
"I need you to come up with something. It needs to be quick, inconspicuous, and it needs to ensure the safety of our crew while also ensuring the Brain does not gain access to our ship. You have," he checked the console, "forty five minutes until we are out of the asteroid field, Mr. Park."
"It lured us here." Trek then said. "All this time, we thought we were luring it, but it was really luring us," referring to, of course, the torpedo.
Nack shook his head in disbelief. The first objective was to free Dixon and Pote, but he wasn't sure that the Brain could keep it's word. After that, destruction of the Vulcan ship, and the Brain, may be necessary... Salvaging it looked less and less likely.

As Park saw the two fighters destroyed a wave of anger washed over him. First the Klingon's attacked his school and killed his friend now this "brain" just did the same thing. Sending a fleet wide transmission Park had all fighters returned to they original spot along the Nevada. turning to the Capitan as he hear him say to him "What a day to be a Marine."
"Yes,sir but one of the ship was piloted by the Lt.Cornol Smith so we have lost our marine lesions. We have also lost a marine Capitan." As he was the look in the bridge crews face he knew he would make up for the dead crew soon enough.
He heard the Capitan say "I have NO interest in giving up this ship." Thinking of a plan he started putting it on a padd to show the Capitan later if he asked for options.
As he continued to work on the plan he head what sounded like a tapping on his console as he looked up from the console that he was working on and looked into the face of his assistant Lt. Klino. "Yes Mr.Klino what can i do for you ?" As Klino hands him a Padd he informs him that he was there to relive him for a meal. "Sorry but i am needed here on the bridge for now,But i do need you to check on our guests in the brig."
As the Lieutenant looked crushed he went to the tubolift and left the bridge. Park watched him go and felt he was out of line yet he wold talk to Commander Trek later about it later. As he watches the ship move toward the coordinates he knew thing were picking up and coming to a close.
As Commander Thomas exited the Turbolift he had a look on his face that Park knew he wouldn't like. Before Thomas could say anything Park said"Ok Commander what did she do now?" Thomas looked at him in shock "How did you know it's about Commander Razan? She has expressed her desire to leave security she wants to move over to command."
Park listened to him and was thinking about the issues on ship as of late. As he looks at Thomas "Have Commander Razan come to my office when this crisis is over". As Thomas and Park talked Park sees the Capitan's looking on him and the Commander. Asking the Capitan "Sir is there something i can do for you.?"

"Moving the ship into position," T"Brel reported tentatively. The shocking realization was just dawning on the young hybrid officer. The torpedo had somehow achieved sentience and the Brain was more than ready to unite with it. "Captain if the torpedo and Brain are as advance as we think they are it will be almost impossible to disconnect the Captain. The Brain will know that we are deceiving it soon enough."
(Nack)
Even though his dismeanor was one of complete calmness, inside T'Brel had been shaken by the powerful display that the Brain had just showned them. Two fighter pilots had just lossed their lives and if things became worse a lot more people might also loose their lives.
"Captain we are holding at the cooridnates," T'Brel ordered," what are your orders?"

McLean’s nearly monotonous few days of system checks, preventing power surges, and maintaining the bio field down in Main Engineering had come to an end with the integration of the torpedo with the Vulcan ship.
Rumors spread like wild fire in Engineering and McLean was right in the middle as the so-called ‘advisor’ that Starfleet had sent over to help deal with this problem. The problem, McLean thought, was that this wasn’t the same brain; it had grown and learned new things. It seemed less of an engineering problem and more of a diplomatic problem, something McLean and all his engineering training never prepared him for.
McLean had made his way to the bridge and upon entering he saw an all too familiar face on the main view screen, “Captain Dixon…” McLean said to himself as he stepped off the turbo lift.
"Captain we are holding at the coordinates," T'Brel announced," what are your orders?"
“Captain,” McLean interrupted as he charged forward on the bridge, “Our bio field is still operational.” McLean said not fully knowing the entire situation. He wasn’t the kind of man who just gave up and from his narrow view of the situation it looked to him that the Captain was doing just that.

"Captain, I'd like permission to hail that ship again," Dan said quietly, after stepping closer to Nack.
"For what reason?" Nack asked, craning his neck to look at the larger man.
"Alex Dixon was more than just my Captain. He was...is my friend. I wish to find out what, if anything, remains of my old friend," Dan requested, worry in his voice.
The Ferengi nodded, and Dan said, "Hail that ship again."
After a moment, the disheartening form that was now Alex appeared on the screen. "You wish to converse further?" he/it asked.
"Do you recognize me?" Dan asked, stepping closer to the screen, addressing both the Brain and Alex.
"You are Commander 1st Class Dan Trek, First Officer of the Nevada," Alex replied, with no emotion.
"Alex, do you recognize me?" Dan asked once more, trying to reach his friend.
With what looked like great effort, he replied, "Yes...Dan. I am here. It's good to see you again...old friend."
"What happened?" Dan asked, now that he had made a connection with the man.
Before he could answer, the emotion left him again, and the Brain took over again. "Alex Dixon was incorporated for more efficient operation," the Brain replied flatly.
Once again, with great effort, Alex said, "Get me out of here, Dan." And the transmission was terminated.
Dan turned to Doctor Grey. "Can you determine whether there's a method to somehow extricate Alex Dixon from the Brain?"
