After his meeting with Commander Tan in the Ready Room, Steve went to lay down on his couch. He just lay there staring at the ceiling, wondering. Wondering about what he was leaving behind, and also wondering whether he was actually making the right decision in staying in command of the Olympia and not being with his wife. It was a decision that he didn't come to lightly, but both him and Arya had had a long discussion about it. Yet even tho he had come to his decision to stay with the ship, he still had doubts as to whether it was the right thing to do.
Steve then sat up, and buried his head in his hands, in an attempt to clear his mind. After staying like that for a few minutes it became clear to him that it obviously wasn't working. He had yet to announce to the senior staff that there would be a meeting soon, but that was going to have to wait, as Steve decided that he was going to check in on Arya one last time before they headed out.
He left his Ready Room and made haste to the medical facilities on the Starbase. Upon arrival, Steve saw that Arya was asleep again, as she seemed to be every time he was visiting her.
"It must be taking a lot out of her, this pregnancy." He softly said to himself under his breath.
Steve approached Arya's biobed, and sat down next to her. He took one of her hands in his and kissed it. Turning to her he was overcome with emotion. Doing his best to maintain his composure, he leant towards her and began to speak softly;
"Hey sweetheart, it's me. The Olympia has been given it's new set of orders and we are about to head out. I don't know how long it is going to be before I get back, but I will make sure I get regular reports on you daily. Just hang in there my love, and I will be back before you know it."
Steve gave Arya a gentle kiss on her forehead and then stood up, gently laid her hands down and turned to head back towards the ship, tears streaming down his face.
He managed to get back to the ship and to his quarters without too much trouble. He was either very stealthy, or the crew just stayed out his way, he wasn't sure.
Walking up to the mirror in his quarters, Steve looked himself over and dried his eyes. Once he looked fine, he went over to his bed and sat down on it, before pressing the comm panel.
=/\= Captain Smith to all senior staff. There will be a mission briefing in the Observation Lounge in 30 minutes. Do not be late. Smith out. -/\-
Steve then cut the comms and just fell back on his bed and closed his eyes......

In his quarters, David heard the Comms. He was surprised that the Captain had called the meeting so soon. He was sure he'd seen Steven leaving the Olympia earlier ...
After showering, he got into a fresh uniform .. The meeting in the observation lounge was going to be 'unusual' to say the least .. Captain smith had spoken to David at length. Outlining the mission they were about to undertake. To be honest, David was puzzled as to why 'he' was privy to the information, when the new Exec, Major Wong, should have been in here alone for the initial briefing ... But it seemed to Tan, that Tiberian knew all about it, and was content to sit quietly to one side while the Captain ran through the brief himself ...
There was something that the Captain had referred to during the briefing that Tan simply didn't get .. Something to do with responsibilities, knowing one's limits .. David got the feeling he was talking about himself, or Wong, rather than a third person ..
He was sure, it would all become clear at their meeting .. Either way, he wanted to be prepared .. He tapped his Comms badge and spoke ...
=^= Commander Tan to all Department Heads .. I expect your status reports to be updated before the Captains meeting .. Any issues .. Contact me ASAP .. Tan out =^=
Looking round his quarters, finding nothing to keep him here, he decided to take a long walk to the Observation Lounge. He was eager to get underway, he was also eager to see just how their new XO turned out ...
Leaving his quarters, he took a turbo-lift .. Down, rather than up, 'I'll be on time' he thought ...........

Bezan had been told that the Olympia was due to leave soon, so he decided to stay aboard. He went to the holosuite and programmed a meditation program. When he went in he was surrounded by fields, the grass was a full healthy green and the sky Blue. Not one Cloud was in the sky and the sun shone bright in the perfect computer simulated sky. Bezan knew that it was not real but he would like to pretend it was. That was the idea after all.
A single oak tree stood in the center of the field. Bezan sat with his back up against it and closed his eye's. Thoughts flooded through his mind, peaceful thoughts. He remembered his family, his mum and dad, how proud they were when he joined star fleet. Then he thought about Shera's daughter and her grand parents how kind they had all been to him. He knew it was not proper to see a previous hosts family but they had all been so understanding about it all. And Shera's daughter had been so attached to him, like he was an uncle.
Two hours had passed and his mind had been so atoned to peace that when his comm badge went off, he nearly jumped out of his skin.
=/\= Captain Smith to all senior staff. There will be a mission briefing in the Observation Lounge in 30 minutes. Do not be late. Smith out. -/\-
ok i have 30 minutes he thought.
=^= Commander Tan to all Department Heads .. I expect your status reports to be updated before the Captains meeting .. Any issues .. Contact me ASAP .. Tan out =^=
"Great" He said to himself "Computer end program"
=/\= Simulation ended=/\=
Bezan got up and made his way back to his quaters to collect the status reports he had left on his bunk.

As Dan woke he wondered what today had in store for him, getting up he went and showered and put on a fresh uniform. Beginning to water the plants he heard his comm badge beep =/\= Captain Smith to all senior staff. There will be a mission briefing in the Observation Lounge in 30 minutes. Do not be late. Smith out =/\= Dan was not surprised about the meeting just by how little warning he was given.
Sighing he finished watering the last of the plants then heard the next announcement =/\= Commander Tan to all Department Heads .. I expect your status reports to be updated before the Captains meeting .. Any issues .. Contact me ASAP .. Tan out =/\= Dan picked up a Padd he had the reports on.
Leaving his quarters Dan made his way to the turbo lift “bridge”, as this was his first mission he was not going to be late to the briefing. As he walked onto the bridge he saw a few officers moving around preparing for the departure, taking his seat on the bridge and continued working on his stasis report. As he comes close to finishing he heard someone from above him. “Do you have your report Mr Biers” Daniel looked up to see David tan standing above him, “oh sorry sir, I didn’t realise you where there” quickly finishing the report he handed it over to David.
A few minutes later Dan stood up and made his way into the observation room, deciding it was still to early to sit down he took to looking out the window at the view, ~I could get use to this view~

Tiberian was both finishing his breakfast and dressing himself, juggling a mixture of croissant, coffee, padds and pieces of uniform. As he fastened his tunic one handed, simultaneously downing half a cup of near scalding Landras blend, a message came over the intercom. =/\= Captain Smith to all senior staff. There will be a mission briefing in the Observation Lounge in 30 minutes. Do not be late. Smith out. -/\- Tiberian gulped down the coffee and placed down his cup, freeing his right hand to fasten his belt. His first staff meeting on the Olympia, his first staff meeting as an XO. "Oh my God, what the hell am I doing" Tiberian exclaimed to no-one in particular. He returned his plate, cup and cutlery to the replicator for recycling, before banging his head on the control panel. "Invalid command" the computer stated, referring to some random key that had been pressed. Tiberian walked away from the replicator, rubbing his head absentmindedly. He was a good marine, he was a good officer, but he had never had this sort of responsibility before. What if he screwed up? Tiberian came to a firm stop, and, raising his right hand, slapped himself hard across the face. `That's better` he thought, walking out of the door. He wasn't sure whether his new position demanded he be early, or whether it gave him leave to be late. Rylka had always been there before the other officers, but Nack had come in late. He decided to take the early bird approach, making himself look efficient, but possibly over eager. It didn't really matter, no-one could really say anything to his face anymore, with the obvious exception of the Captain. He arrived at the bridge, receiving one or two odd looks from the bridge staff, none of whom seemed certain whether to stand up or ignore him. Hopefully that would change with time. Tiberian entered the observation lounge, finding himself to be the first one there. He sat in the seat beside that of the Captain, reading the padd he had brought with him from his quarters. The specification and operations manual for Prometheus class starships wasn't particularly enthralling, but it helped to wile away the time. Eventually, more officers arrived, Commander Tan and Lieutenant Biers, who took to lookig out of the window. "Gentlemen" Tiberian greeted them. After nearly a minutes silence, one which Tiberian deemed to be uncomfortable, he posed a question. "So gentlemen, anything to report from your respective departments?" What an awkward conversation starter.

Bezan reached his quaters after a steady jog, entered and grabbed his report padds. After a quick Glance through the reports making sure there was nothing he hadn't left out. Then he proceeded out of his quaters and towards the turbo lift.
He entered the lift and requested the correct deck. Still browsing the reports as he waited to arrive at his destination. All systems appeared to be functioning normally and at maximum Efficiency, so he was confident the ship was ready to depart.
As he left the turbo lift he made his way through the corridor to the observation lounge. When he entered he saw Danny and Major Wong Their new Fo waiting. So the meeting had not started Phew. The last thing he needed was to be late on the first day of his career.
"Gentlemen" Tiberian greeted them. After nearly a minutes silence, one which Tiberian deemed to be uncomfortable, he posed a question. "So gentlemen, anything to report from your respective departments?" What an awkward conversation starter.
"Sir, Pleasure to meet you, And i am sure our service together shall be productive and enjoyable" Bezan saluted and then looked at his report padds. "Sir all Systems Normal and at maximum efficiency, i took the liberty of overseeing the checks and repairs myself."
Then bezan nodded towards Danny "Luitenent"

Tiberian nodded as both Trul and Biers reported in, listening to the seeming lack of problems within their respective departments. It was at this point that he remembered a message on his screen, notifying him about his compulsory psychological assessment by the ships counsellor. What a stupid thing for a marine to have to have, an evaluation. He killed people for a living for goodness sake. It was something he could do without, and so subsequently something which he planned to avoid like the plague. As such he made a point of turning his chair to face the table again, avoiding eye contact, and hopefully conversation, with Lieutenant Biers. "Please sit down gentlemen" Tiberian invited them, growing a little uncomfortable with being the only officer seated. They moved forward to the table and were seated at various intervals. No sooner had this happened than the Captain entered the room. "Captain on deck, ten hut!" Tiberian jumped to his feet and saluted, looked at with a mixture of shock, incredulity and amusement by the Captain and other senior staff. Clearing his throat, Tiberian sat down again, adjusting his phaser as a nervous habit. "Lieutenants Biers and Trul were just informing me of the excellent states of their departments" Tiberian said, the indecision in his voice making his statement aimed more at the room in general than the Captain. He needed a drink.

After what could be called a 'leisurely' stroll to the meeting, David entered the observation lounge .. Several of the staff were already there, along with the Captain and new XO .. Receiving nod's from the people round the table, David went to his usual seat ..
"Excuse me Major ..." Steven said to Tiberian, as he noticed Tan sit next to him, "Everything OK Commander .. Are we all set ?"
"Yes Sir." said Tan, "We can head out as and when you choose .. Major." David acknowledged Wong, who politely nodded in return.
"No Doctor I see ..." David said, a wry grin forming on both his and the Captain's faces .. A grin that the new XO picked up on and tapped his Comms badge ..
=^= Major Wong to Sickbay =^=
=^= Sickbay =^=
=^= Commander Mallen .. We are awaiting your presence in the observation lounge for a briefing =^=
=^= I'll be there shortly 'Major' ... I'm sure I'll catch up on anything if you need to begin the meeting without me .. Mallen out =^= The doctor finished, closing the Comm.
Steven and David tried, hard, not to look at each other .. Kiral was sometimes late, it was the nature of the job she did. Sometimes, you simply couldn't just put a thing down until later ...
"We're in no hurry Major." the Captain said, smiling, more to re-assure Tiberian that he'd not just been put in his place by Kiral, than anything else, "Unless you would like to begin ?" he finished, raising his eye-brows questioningly ..........

Bezan wathced the exchange between Commander Tan, the captain, and the new FO, With a slight comical point of view. The Doc was running late for the meeting and they were soon to be underway. But for Bezan waiting was not a problem, it gave him a chance to relax a bit before the briefing. So he could focus his mind one hundred and ten percent on the information that he had to absorb.
He felt a slight anxiety as he caught everyone in his vision, one at a time. He was responsble for the lifes of everyone on the ship. If something failed, then in a dangerous situation everyones lives were at risk. But that was the case for all the officers who were present and on their way. But his was slightly more so, if the ship broke, no matter how good the others were at their jobs, then they were either captured or destroyed.
These thoughts of anxiety and panic seemed to be filtering over to danny as mid conversation his head turned to look at bezan with a serious look on it. Bezan tried to wipe the thoughts from his mind as quick as possible but he figured danny had already got enough information. For at least an informal chat. Maybe he might re-evaluate his psyco analysis report and rewrite.
But Danny looked away as soon as bezan caught him reading him. Bezan just smiled a friendly smile, kindof simultaneously with the Captain. Then Bezan just sat back and fiddled with his report padd, waiting for the Briefing to begin.

When Mallen had nothing else to attend to, she returned to her quarters to freshen up. She stepped into her shower, and when she stepped out, she was suprised to realize that over an hour had passed.
=/\= Captain Smith to all senior staff. There will be a mission briefing in the Observation Lounge in 30 minutes. Do not be late. Smith out. =/\=
Just in time, she thought to herself, slipping into her uniform. She departed for the observation lounge, and nearly stepped on a small package left outside her door. Curious, Kiral bent down and opened it up to reveal a whole new set of rank pins, along with a promotion notice. Checking the time, she still had 20 minutes before the meeting, so she returned to her quarters, applied the pins to her collar, and replicated a Goombay Punch to celebrate.
=/\= Sickbay to Doctor Mallen =/\= The sudden announcement in the quiet of her quarters caused Kiral to nearly drop her glass. =/\= Could you... come up here for a moment? =/\=
"I have a meeting I need to go to, you know that, right?" Kiral sighed.
=/\= It shouldn't take long, I promise. But we need you here for a second. Please? =/\=
Not bothering to answer, Mallen headed for sickbay. It turned out to be a complete waste of time. The patient was some silly ensign with a nosebleed. Apparently, he had a history of being a hypochondriac. On top of this was the fact that he would only trust a "real" doctor to examine him. It took a while to convince the man that everyone on her staff was indeed a "real" doctor, and that they were all well qualified to help him. She finished by asking him to make an appointment with the new counselor, then bolted out of sickbay. She was approximately 2 minutes late at that point.
Two minutes later, she arrived in the Observation Lounge, the last of the senior officers to arrive. "Sorry, Captain, Major Wong," she took a moment to apologize to the others in the room. "I didn't miss too much, did I? I had an... unusual problem in sickbay."
On her way to her seat, Kiral passed the replicator, and paused to order herself yet another Goombay Punch. Then she quietly took her seat, eager to hear what the Captain had to say.

Crystal was in a rush and getting more nervous by the second. her assignment had only just come through and she had had to move to get from Conqueror to Bellicose before the USS Olympia, her first ship, shipped out without her. She knew that the Captain knew she was coming but not quite sure what he was going to make of her as his Chief Science Officer. To be honest she wasn't 100% sure she could pull this off but she was going to give it her all. This was what she had always wanted to do.
She arrived on the Olympia a little out of breath but raring to go. 'Better go report in' she thought.
"Computer, where is Captain Smith?" "Captain Smith is in the Observation Lounge" Crystal steadied her bag on her shoulder and headed for the turbo lift. She stood still for a moment in the lift as it sped upwards and tried to convince some of her more flyaway strands of hair to stay back. Then gave it up as a lost cause.
She paused outside the observation lounge door for a moment psyching herself up. She didn't know why she was quite so nervous after all the Captain knew she was coming and it wasn't as if her were an acting-ensign-eating ogre or something. She buzzed.
"Enter" A male voice said. she entered. The words tripped off her tongue.
"Acting Ensign Crystal Rose, reporting for duty, Sir". Then she noticed that not one but six sets of eyes had swung in her direction. She stuttered slightly. "That is, reporting for duty Sirs". Her voice had gone up in pitch, she hated it when that happened but it always did when she was nervous. She stood frozen in the doorway waiting for someone else to say something.

Now that the doctor had arrived, Steve could finally begin. He took a sip of his tea and opened his mouth to speak. Just as he did, he door chime sounded. Something he had heard a lot of over the past day. He called for the person to enter and waited.
"Acting Ensign Crystal Rose, reporting for duty, Sir"
'Acting Ensign?' He thought, while trying not to show his puzzlement. 'I wasn't told of this.' Almost at exactly the same time that he had that thought, Steve felt a buzz in his lap. It was his padd alerting him of a new message. Quickly opening it, he discovered that it was the details of AE Rose's assignment.
"Typical." He said under his breath. "They never get things on time."
Steve looked up at the ensign. "Ah, welcome aboard the USS Olympia, ensign." He took another quick look at the padd, then placed it on the table. "From what I understand you are to be our new Chief Science Officer. As this is a briefing on our next mission for all department heads, you fall under that category, so please take a seat." Steve smiled, and gestured towards an empty chair. "Oh, and you may get yourself a drink on the way though, if you so wish." Steve knew this new officer was being thrust right into work, but he also knew that they wouldn't get assigned to the Olympia if they weren't good enough.
Once Crystal sat down, Steve began the briefing. "Starfleet has given us our orders for our next mission....the first real mission of the Olympia. The mission itself is simple enough, but there is a twist." He looked around the room, and back again before continuing.
"I have given the responsibility and position of Second Officer to Commander Tan. He has proved himself to be a capable officer and I know I can count on him. Now in relation to this, Mr Tan is eligible for Command Training, but that would mean he would have to leave the ship temporarily to undertake said training. I cannot afford for that to happen, so I have been in contact with Starfleet Command on a way around this. The solution we came up with is this...." Steve then paused for a moment, before carrying on again.
"For the duration of our mission, Commander Tan and I will swap places. He will be the CO for the mission and I will act as COO. Our ranks will be reversed also. It may take some getting used to, I know, but this way, I can evaluate him on his command skills without losing him while he went away."
Steve looked around the room at the shocked faces of the crew. Well, all except David and Tiberian, who already knew of the plan.
"So, as of now, Mr Tan is in command.....the briefing is all yours." Steve nodded to David and smiled.

Daniel nooded as the ensign entered, another person to have to drag for an evaluation. daniel had been looking through records while he had been waiting for the briefing to start, and had noticed their new FO was due a evaluation. Looking up he saw that the Major was looking anywhere but at him, this could cause problems.
As the briefing went on he was shocked that david would be the Captain for this trip, which he had no problem with ~might make getting Commander Smith to have an evaluation~ chuckling under his breath he waited for David to continue the briefing hoping there would not be any further supprises.
ooc: sorry for the lack of activity.

In the silence that followed, you could have picked up the sound of the proverbial pin dropping, two decks away .. Tan took his time getting out of his seat. Mainly because of the artificial gravity seemed to have increased .. "OK ....." he began, "As the Captain has pointed out .. This may take some getting used to .. It goes without saying that if at anytime the Captain or Myself feel things are not going well .. He or I can request to be reinstated to our former positions .. First off though .." he said, looking down at Steven, "We need to transfer Command of the Olympia." Steven grinned, then spoke to the ship .. "Computer .. Transfer Command of the USS Olympia to Lieutenant Commander David Tan .. With temporary grade advance to the rank of Captain .. Re-assign Captain Steven Smith to COO .. Temporary grade reduction to Lieutenant Commander." "Do you wish all Command codes transfered ?" asked the ship's computer. After a look at David, Steven replied ... "Yes .. Transfer all Command codes." "Transfer complete .. USS Olympia in Command of Captain David Tan .. Effective immediately." the ships computer stated. "Right .." David began, hoping he sounded confident, "We received the following orders from Star fleet Command ..." To: Commanding Officer - USS Olympia From: Admiral Jack Clark Re: Mission
Captain.
Six weeks ago, Two colonization vessels, the USS Mirage and USS Nimoy, left Star base Unification en route to the Olomos System. There they would colonize the second planet in that system, named Providence ..
Fourteen hours ago, we received word from a Ferengi trading vessel, that debris, consistent with that of a destroyed ship had been seen. It has been confirmed that it is the wreckage of the USS Nimoy. The Nimoy was carrying two hundred and thirty seven colonists, comprising Men, Women and twenty seven children.
There is no sign of the USS Mirage, Which was carrying one hundred and forty seven, Men, women, and Children.. But warp trail analysis shows the ship was 'escorted' from this sector by a species known as the Nekori. We have very little information on the Nekori, but understand them to be a warrior race, taking, rather than negotiating for what they need. It is also know that they use captured personnel to further their medical knowledge.
Needless to say. The Federation cannot, under any circumstances, allow her citizens to be used for experimentation. The USS Olympia is at present, the closest Star ship to the Olomos System, and as such is hereby ordered to leave dock with all due haste and investigate ..
I am fully aware that Commander Tan will be in Command during this mission, but Captain Smith will, if deemed necessary, take Command should the need arise.
ANY .. and ALL means should be used to prevent the use of Federation personnel .. The Mirage must be destroyed before we allow our people to be used as guinea pigs .. I hope that is FULLY understood.
God speed Captain Tan.
Adml Clark. David let the information sink in, before speaking ... "This information will be available to you all after this briefing .. This may not have been the time for me to take Command but I will do my utmost to get the mission concluded successfully .. I want us out of Bellicose within the next two hours .. Once en-route .. We will have a further meeting to go over any thoughts we have .. Thank you and Dismissed." As the Officers filed out, heading to their respective departments, David sat down, heaving a sigh, almost of relief, that the briefing was over. He looked at Steven, who simply grinned, then pushing his chair back, nodded to the Olympias' Captain, and entered the Bridge. David looked out of the window for a few moments, taking in the enormity of what he'd just taken on .. Before getting up and entering the Bridge of the Olympia, as her Captain .. As the departure orders came over from Bellicose, David knew they would be leaving the Star base in ninety minutes. There was something both he, and Commander Smith needed to do. Tan had a quiet word with him and both Officers left the Bridge .. Fifteen minutes later, David left his quarters and headed back up to the Bridge, he arrived less than a minute behind Steven, who was now dressed in the correct shirt for his position .. David too had changed. He was now wearing Command Red, and four gold pips, signifying the rank of Captain .. Slightly self-consciously, he walked to his seat, glancing at Smith as he did so, receiving a nod of approval from the Olympias' genuine Captain .......... < tag : All >

Following the entrance of the doctor, mere moments after his communique, yet another beep was heard from the door. Upon the Captain's command the door opened, and a woman entered, wearing a science uniform and an acting ensign pip. She introduced herself as Crystal Rose, and was invited to be seated by the Captain, first obtaining a drink. It was at this point that Tiberian realised that this was one of the most infromal meetings he had ever been to, with the staff enjoying drinks as they listened. He could get used to it here. The meeting progressed, with Tiberian enjoying the varied looks of incredulity at Commander Tan's acting command. Truth be told, he would have probably behaved in the same way had he not been informed prior to the meeting. Following that he listened to the mission briefing itself, his mind racing as he invented umpteen contingencies, worst case scenarios and plans of action, before calming down, and deciding to let the department heads do their jobs without taking total control. The meeting ended, and Tiberian was one of the first out, moving immediately to sit in that hallowed XO chair. After about fifteen minutes, Tan returned to the bridge and moved to the command chair to sit down, dressed in a spiffy new command uniform. Tiberian perused the menu of information relating to the Olympia. He turned to Tan. "Captain" he didn't think pandering to the Commander's ego could hurt too much "We've got full ship compliment and supplies loaded aboard. All we are truly waiting for are some minor repairs, which I am sure Mr Trul's people are more than capable of completing en route. Being so, should I get us underway" The Captain acknowledged him in the affirmative, and Tiberian stood. "Attention all hands, we are departing the starbase. Any personnel who are not assigned to this vessel should leave immediately" Tiberian waited a few minutes, until confirmation of all personnel came in. "Seal all bulkheads" he ordered "Start fusion generator power up, bring all drive systems online, activate all key systems and prepare to transfer all ship functions to autonomous power" "All ship functions on autonomous power" A Lieutenant replied "Bulkheads sealed and engines are standing by" "Very good. Captain Smit..., I mean Mr Smi..., Commander S..." Tiberian, given the odd situation, found himself at a loss of how to address his sort of former CO. He decided to avoid direct contact and so directed his comments at the entire bridge "Hail the dockmaster, request permission to dpeart. Clear all moorings, all systems to station keeping" He tapped his comm badge. "Major Wong to Lieutenant Trul" "Lieutenant Trul here" "I hope you're all set Mr Trul, we're about to take her to warp. Wong out" He turned to the navigator, and as departure confirmation was received, her said. "Take her out ensign, maneouvering thrusters" The great Prometheus hulk came to sleek and swift life, gliding free from it's resting place, past the pylons and doors, and out of the starbase into open space. "One third impulse until we clear the system, and then set a course for the warp trail, warp five" He turned back to the acting Captain and saluted. "The ship is at your disposition, sir, we await your orders"

After the brief briefing and the shock set in that Commander Tan was now to be Captain Tan. Bezan went straight down to engineering. Getting into the turbo lift he reviewed the Briefing document on his padd. He was stumped on the bottom line where it said Is that understood, the phrase obviously meant if captured they would have to self destruct the ship and vapourise the crew.
He also didn't like the idea that the Children were onboard the ship. not only were they possiblly dead but they were also experimented on afterwards.Bezan felt sick to his stomach. As he stepped off of the turbo lift and walked round to engineering he felt queezy and it was not the sace sickness, he had been taking the hypospray everyday, and getting refills on SBB.
He entered engineering and sat behind a console.
"Any changes in status since i have been away?" Bezan asked
"None so far sir" A crewman responded.
Bezan felt the ship undock. Then he had another shot of his hypospray. He felt better, it could have been the space sickness and maybe he needed a longer lasting spray, but something in his gut told him it was the thought of all those innocent people being cut up after they were killed. He tapped his Comm badge.
=/\= Luitenent Junior grade bezan trul to commander Mallen, could i see you in Engineering please i don't feel well, i think i need a stronger dose of my space sickness jab=/\=

"Ah, welcome aboard the USS Olympia, ensign." Crystal breathed a silent sigh of relief as the Captain spoke. "From what I understand you are to be our new Chief Science Officer. As this is a briefing on our next mission for all department heads, you fall under that category, so please take a seat." Steve smiled, and gestured towards an empty chair. "Oh, and you may get yourself a drink on the way though, if you so wish." Crystal nodded her thanks to the Captain and walked to the replicator "Water, 280 Kelvin" then gathered up her drink settled at the table tucked her bag under her seat and tried to look inconspicuous
When the briefing finished Crystal's mind was in a whirl. She wasn't quite sure what she had let herself in for but she was here now. That mission statement kept ringing in her mind. It is also known that they use captured personnel to further their medical knowledge. Crystal couldn't understand that, the number of deaths scared her but in truth someone conducting experiments on captured victims scared her even more. It also made her angry. That wasn't what science was about...
Crystal had so much to do she had a department here that she hadn't even seen yet and the staff that went with a department and quarters to sort out and all the preliminary stuff that aways needed to be done whenever you started anywhere.
Crystal obtained directions to her quarters and dumped her bag. She spared a couple of seconds to look round. They were nice quarters and she hoped that she would get to spend some time in them rather than using them just for sleeping. She grabbed a PADD down loaded a map of the Olympia and started her to do list.
Crystal decided her quarters could wait. Item one was check out her department but she also had to keep the Doctor and the Councilor happy. Not her idea of fun, but it was part of the new arrival process. She checked her PADD making sure she had the right name and then tapped her comm badge.
=/\=Ensign Rose to Lieutentant Biers. I understand I am supposed to have an evaluation with you, Sir. Can I make an appointment please?=/\=
Tag: Daniel
After sorting out an appointment with the Councilor, she checked her PADD again. Maybe she was being too keen, but this stuff need to get done. She tapped her badge. =/\=Ensign Rose to Commander Mallen, I believe I am supposed to have a physical, when do you want me to come to sick bay, Ma'am=/\=
Tag: Mallen
Crystal finished her conversation with the Doctor and stretched. She then left her quarters at somewhere between a jog and a bounce.

Daniel was worried about the crew of the Mirage, if they were alive there would be some problems. Walking to his office, he began thinking about the captures. Arriving at his office he quickly moved to his desk and brought up all information on the Nekori, hoping that the information that was available would give him an indication of what sort of mental condition the crew might be in so that he was prepared.
=/\=Ensign Rose to Lieutentant Biers. I understand I am supposed to have an evaluation with you, Sir. Can I make an appointment please?=/\= surprised by her willingness to undergo the evaluation he stammered a reply =^= ensign, umm if you are that willing to proceed then I can see you in about 20 to 30 minutes, is that fine?=^= looking for crystals records, he was not surprised when he could not find them, ~new staff, is it always the councillor that gets the info last~ =/\=that’s fine, si …=/\= Dan quickly cut the comm signal, he only needed the confirm not the ‘sir’ bit.
A few minutes later he heard the chime of his door, “come in” looking up from the Padd to see a ensign he had not expected, “how can I help you ensign?” as Dan spoke to the ensign he got the idea what had happened, “Star fleet never place untrained doctors on a star ship, I would like to see you again, tomorrow at 0800 hours, and do not be late ensign” Dan hoped he would listen this could prove to be a problem if they entered a battle situation of instance, watching the ensign agree to this unwilling and leave, Dan turned to a report Padd and added the memo to his record that he would be seeing him again. Beginning a message to his head of department to make sure he turned up, LIEUTENANT HALTHOR AND COMMANDER TAN … then he remembered the switch and re-started his message LIEUTENANT HALTHOR AND COMMANDER SMITH, I HAVE ASKED ENSIGN DAVIS TO REPORT TO ME AT 0800 HRS. IF HE IS MEANT TO BE ON DUTY AT THIS TIME PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS A PROBLEM, BUT I DO SEE HIS CASE AS IMPORTANT. THANKS, COUNSELLOR BIERS. sending the message he turned back to his readout of information on the Nekori.
<Tag Smith>
Just as he found where he had left off another chime rang out though his office ~now when did I become so popular~ “come in” entering was the ensign he had been expecting, happy she did turn up he stood “hello ensign, would you mind taking a seat and we will begin” indicating some of the comfortable chairs, walking to take one of those she left he sat down hoping he would not make her feel under pressure. “How was your journey to bellicose, hopefully not to tiring” and knew this would take awhile without those records.

During the four day trip out to the remains of the Federation Colony Vessel, the USS Nimoy, David had tried to ensure that everything was ready for their mission. He had requested Major Wong run several drill's, rescue scenarios, and even boarding of the Nekori ships.
True, the Federations information on the Nekori was scant, but they had enough to go on in the data-banks. So Wong set up the exercises, ensuring everyone, including the Captain, take part.
With the Olympia's Chief of Security, they worked the crew hard .. David had at one point, wondered if he was going over the top, but reassurance from both Steven and Tiberian showed he was doing OK..
David entered the Bridge, the shift duty Officer getting up as he neared the Command seats.
"Alpha Shift now has the Bridge." David said.
"Alpha shift has the Bridge .. Aye." Confirmed Vander, waiting to give Tan his report, "Nothing unusual Captain .. We're five hours away from the co-ordinates provided by the Ferengi .. Speed still warp five."
"Thankyou Commander .. Go get some rest .. We may need you once we arrive at the Nimoy .. Or whats left of her." he finished quietly. Halthor nodded and headed for his quarters.
David started to check through several PADDS that had been left on the XO's seat, obviously for Major Wong. But as Tan knew his Exec' had run through his last scenario the night before, and it ran well into the early hours, Tiberian wouldn't be up here for two to three hours yet ..
He must have been engrossed in what he was doing, because Major Wong appeared in front of him, glancing at the PADDS before speaking ..
"Captain .. Reporting for shift." Wong said, snapping to attention.
"Ahh .. OK listen Tiberian .." David began, "I know you want to stick to a strict discipline as the Olympia's First Officer .. But for the duration of this mission I'd like you to relax those disciplines .. I want .. No need the crew to see an efficient yet relaxed Senior Staff .. I'm not entirely sure this is how Steven would do things .. As we have only had the Shakedown to go by .. But it's how i'd like things done .. OK" and as Wong sat, glanced at Navigation, "Helm .. Status."
"We are one fifty two minutes from our destination Sir .. We're scanning the area .. But apart from the wreckage there are no other vessels in the area .. The warp trail is degrading but still easy to follow." the duty Navigation Officer reported.
"Keep a lock on that trail Helm .. Any signs of degradation that could cause us problems .. I want to know immediately." Wong ordered.
"Understood Major."
"I'll .. Try my best Sir .. Anything important ?" he asked, nodding toward the PADDS.
"No .. Status reports mainly." David replied, handing the PADDS to the XO.
"I'll be in the Capt .. My .. Ready room if you need me Tiberian .. You have the Bridge .. When Commander Smith arrives ask him to join me will you." David said, getting up and heading toward the door to his office.
"Yes Sir." Wong replied
Once off the Bridge, David sat behind the desk, he was more than happy with how things had gone so far ... 'But, we hadn't actually begun yet' he silently reminded himself ..........

Crystal went to the main Science Labs, she guessed she could at least stick her head around the door before her appointment with the Councilor. She was still stunned that she had a department, well two full time people. The main lab was empty when she arrived, not a big surprise under the circumstances. Some of the computer terminals had lines of numbers scroll across them and an interesting looking experiment was humming gently in the corner. There were a few stacks of PADDs on the side bench leaning next to a couple of half empty mugs. Crystal was pleased, this place felt like every lab she had ever been in and that meant it felt like home. A cold knot relaxed a little in her stomach. She couldn't to bring her things down here and set up. She just didn't feel right with out an experiment or two on the go.
She turned and hurried back down the corridors, she didn't want to be late this early on her first day of her new assignment. She made it to the councilor's office having only got lost once. She pressed the door chime.
“come in” Crystal did so. “hello ensign, would you mind taking a seat and we will begin” Crystal sat down and let out a slow breath. “How was your journey to bellicose, hopefully not to tiring”
She shook her head and then spoke. The words came out at her normal pitch but in more of a rush than she would have liked, so the Lieutentant couldn't get a word in edgeways.
"It wasn't a bad trip, Sir. I do wish it hadn't been so rushed though, I'd have liked to have had a chance to have a look round bellicose before reporting in. But then, I do like to travel and see new places which is part of the reason I wanted this job." Crystal, realising she was babbling stopped.

Bezan had took it upon himself to go and see Commander Mallen for a stronger hypospray, She had been too busy dealing with the new CSO, and seemed to have her hands full with quite a few other stuff. So he went and saw her and exchnaged stories about Trill, then he reported back to Engineering. As he walked in there was a strange feeling that came over him again. This time it did not originate from his stomach, it was more like voices in his head.
Help us a voice whispered inside his head, it sounded like a child but he just thought it was one of his crewmen.
"Did you say something Crewmen jansen?" Bezan asked
"No sir" Crewmen Jansen replied and looked confused.
"Thank you continue with your duties"
"Sir" Crewmen Jansen went about completing diagnostics of different parts of the ships from his console.
Help us There it was again the child like voice.
Bezan wiped his hand over his face, he must have been tired. After all he had only had six Hours sleep over a period of about Three days. He had been so anxious to get his hands on the Olympia's engines he had spent the crew's shore leave trying to get to grips with it. Running simulations to see what she could do.
But this voice thing either meant he was tired, insane or he was receiveing a link from a survivor on the Nimoy or a capture from the Mirage. He decided that while these thoughts were going through his head that it must be stress and tiredness, since he hadn't heard the voices whilst thinking about them.
He decided to go to the bridge and take an up to date systems report. He grabbed his Padd and left engineering. And entered the turbo lift.
"Bridge" He requeted and after a few short moments he stepped off into the bridge.
"Major Wong, I have updated the systems efficiency reports sir. had to make a few minor alterations but all systems are go sir." Bezan said and handed the FO the reports padds.

Daniel smiled as the ensign answered his first question, she seemed to be both nervous and excited at the same time, and good under most circumstances but as long as it was under control. Daniel continued the evaluation for almost 3 hours, which seemed longer, ~ this ensign, needs to calm down~ “well I think I have enough to clear you for active duty Crystal. Just try to remember that you would not have been assigned to this ship if you were not capable of running our science department, just be calm and nothing will go wrong” smiling at her he motioned to her that she could go. “And when we are just one to one you can call me Daniel” he knew she would probably not follow it.
----------
As the days rolled on Daniel had found that he had done enough evaluations for now. the training sessions with Lorra had been more tiring than he thought they would be, but he was at last able to control to a point his telepathy and she had also found the empathy deeper down inside him though he was unable to access it. After Dan let Ensign Davis leave Dan made his way to the bridge. Daniel knew they should be arriving at the Nimoy soon as his place would be on the bridge encase anything happened.
Walking to the turbo lift he looked around everyone was happily getting on with their duties. Daniel was worried what sort of state the children would be in, most of the crew had been in the same mind set but Dan had been reminding them that they were going to ensure that the survivors were safely returned. Entering the turbo life he spoke “bridge”. Walking onto the bridge he saw most of the bridge crew were busy with their own work to notice him, walking down to his seat on the bridge he nodded to Major Wong & LT Trul before he sat.

Tiberian was stood poised outside the holographic representation of a Nekori engine room, a squad of armed marines behind him as they prepared to blow the door. It had been four days since the expedition had begun, and in preparation, the Captain had been liasing with him and Commander Halthor in order to prepare drills for when they encountered the Nekori. Using the scarce information that had been procured from the Federation archives, Tiberian and Halthor had approximated both Nekori tactics and ship layout, having subsequently devised numerous boarding and repulsion scenarios, similar to the one Tiberian was now engaging in. Almost back to back secnarios had been run for the last three and a half days, with minimal sleep and comfort. `Well, it is the best way to toughen men up, ready for a hard encounter` Tiberian thought to himself, as he nodded to the cocky corporal across from him who moved forwards to press the emergency door controls. A bang and a hiss was heard, and the doors slid apart smoothly. The corporal entered on point, folloowed by the fanning motion of the rest of the squad. To greet them was the sight of forty scard civilians, huddled around the engine core. No Nekori were in sight. The young Afro-Caribbean corporal stepped up to the civilians, psreading his arms wide and lowering his weapon with a smile. "What's up people, I am your rescuer for the day, happenin' Corporal Stitch Jones" Suddenly a Nekori stood from the crowd, previously unseen, and fired at Jones, the safety protocols causing the blast to touch him without effect. Tiberian shot the Nekori quickly before calling out. "Computer, freeze program" the surroundings froze, and Tiberian advanced on the marine, grabbing him by the thrtoat, and pressing him up against the holographic bulkhead, his toes barely touching the floor "Next time, try Federation Marine idiot" He threw the corporal to the ground. "In future, one man shoulders his rifle and carries a tricorder and hand phaser. They will do an intensive lifesign sweep inside, in addition to the one done outside. Now, let's do it again, and let's do it right this time" The program reset.
~The wee hours of the next morning~
Tiberian was tossing and turning in bed, trying to get back to the three or so hours of sleep he had managed to gather once his men had finally perfected the Nekori boarding scenario. He sat up and shook his head, acknowledging that despite his fatigue he couldn't really sleep. Inspecting his chronometer, he saw that he wasn't supposed to be on duty for two or three hours, but he couldn't stand being idle whislt he was awake. As such he dressed and went to the bridge, wiping sleep from his eyes. Once there he moved down to speak to the Captain, who actually instructed him to relax his discipline, befoere turning over a series of reports and departing. As Tiberian made himself comfortable, Lieutenant Trul came into the bridge and turned over a further series of padds, adding to his pile. "Thank you Lieutenant" He gestured to the seat on the left side of the command chair "If you've nothing to do, sit down and wait a while. We'll be coming up on the wreckage of the Nimoy in a short while, and I could use an engineer's opinion on what it tells us about Nekori weapons, and the number of ships involved" As Trul sat, Tiberian made a start on reading his pile of padds. Within a few short hours the Olympia approached the debris field. "Helm, slow to one third impulse, bring us up on the debris and move us to best possible scanning range" He touched his comm badge. "Commander Smith and Ensign Rose to the bridge please. We have approached the debris field" He turned to Trul. "Over to you Lieutenant. Tell us what we need to know"
<TAG Trul>
By know the other senior officers were present on the bridge and participating in the scanning effort. Tiberian stood and announced. "Once we have all the necessary data resume course to follow that warp trail, warp seven" The increasing amount of time that had transpired between the destruction and now had caused Tiberain to break the speed limit, and it was then that he had remembered the Captain's earlier request. "I just remembered, Commander Smith, when you've finished assisting with the scans can you please reprt to your ready ro..." A sudden shock rocked the vessel with tremendous force, sending Tiberan and the rest of the bridge crew staggering from their posts. "Red alert" he screamed over the explosion of a console as he regained his feet "All hands to battle stations, Captain to the bridge" he looked to tactical "Return fire, all phasers full lateral spread at your discretion. Helm, initiate evasive manouveres delta sequence" Outisde, a small Nekori craft dodged the larger Olympia's phasers with ease, firing it's own phasers into the recently raised shields.

Bezan looked at the debris on the view screen, well what little there was of it. It looked like the phasers were very powerful, it appeared to have ripped inside the ship and and continued working. like fragments of the phaser attached to the hull inside and continued to cause damage.
"Sir i've never seem anything like this before, it's like the earthen weapon naypalm. it continues to latch onto things after intitial impact. The phasers are very advanced sir. There is even a part still burning" Bezan poited through the view screen to the section of the hull still glowing orange.
By know the other senior officers were present on the bridge and participating in the scanning effort. Tiberian stood and announced. Bezan automatically took the Bridge's engineering console, and stood ready to report damage. Another blast shook the Olympia.
"Sir. shields still holding down by Five percent, so they must have taken the Nimoy by suprise" Bezan paused and shifted power to prioritise weapons and shields.

The days between the briefing and the start of the attack, Kiral had been in an unusually bad mood. She was usually cheerful and agreeable, but not now. Her staff had never seen her like that before. The Nekori were to blame, of course. Using sentient beings as medical guinea pigs was a horror that had never even occured to her. The aliens were lucky that Mallen's Hippocratic Oath prevented her from doing harm. The other doctors shared her displeasure, but not to the same degree.
However, a part of her couldn't help but think that maybe there wasn't enough information on these Nekori. It seemed unusual that a warrior race would attack solely to gain test subjects, medical knowledge. She had heard of peoples who had done horrible things to save members of their own. It was possible that there was more to the Nekori than any of them realized.
The lights in Sickbay dimmed slightly, and the Red Alert bell could be heard throughout the ship. Mallen could hear people in the halls rushing to battle stations. "We must be close," she announced. "Everyone, make sure you have a phaser, just in case we're boarded. Set to stun. The Nekori are a warrior race. Be prepared for casualties."
