As Sonak broke the mind-meld, he stood up and nodded. " Commodore, as your cond in command for the moment, I just needed to understand your perspective on this situation. Thank you, I know what to do, and I will leave Marco to your decisions. I am sorry I questioned you."
As Trey entered the room making bad jokes again, Byrne's ears peaked when he heard about the future phaser. Turning to Trey, he asked the exact location of the office where the phaser was located. Turning to Sonak, he hadnded her a PADD with a message on the screen.
It stated- - (TAG Sonak)
Tapping a response, Sonak motioned to Byrne to erase the note and showed enough discomfort to warrent the doctor to come back into the room and dismiss the cadets present.

Sonak nodded her consent. "Trey go with Logan and see that you get that weapon to Fox," she ordered, "if this weapon is from our timeline, we may very well have found a trace towards our dissident or dissidents. See if you can recover any DNA to trace to a person or persons, so that we may know where to continue our search."
As the two men left, Sonak made sure T'Len returned to the ward, so that the two 'cadets' could make themselves scarce without being detained any further. Sonak thought it was bad enough that they were being confined to their dorm, though she knew her crew better to than to obey such orders unless they came from her. And her orders had been to disobey them.
"Do you require further attention?" T'Len asked quietly, assessing her patient's physical appearance. To the older Vulcan, the younger one looked distressed and prone to emotional outbursts. "Your emotional distress is understandable," she continued, "but you must control it. Worry is illogical, and an emotion."
The younger Vulcan looked up. "I understand," she answered quietly, "but L'Ola is not just a girl under my wing. She is my friend, and due to my carelessness she has been abducted."
T'Len shook her head. "You befalls no blame cadet," she reproached her, "what could you have done against four attackers? You were overwhelmed and you were stunned. You tried to come to her aid did you not?" At Sonak's nod, she nodded in return. "You did all you could. Now you should rest and let security take the matter in hand."
The instructor could see there was something else on the young woman's mind, but knew she would bring it up herself when she felt the need to. "You are, however, unwise to instruct your group to search out your group mate. They are inexperienced, and they are disobeying orders."
Again, Sonak nodded in understanding. "But they cannot sit quietly in our dorm, waiting for results. They are restless and need to occupy themselves in this matter to ease their minds. Apart from Tovan, they are Human. Tovan will approach this logically, while the Humans follow what they call gut instinct. I would request that they be allowed their own private investigation. It may do them good, and they may gain some insightful skills in the process."
T'Len nodded at her student's sudden logic. "Very well, I will allow them their investigation, but I will keep them under surveillance, lest they endanger themselves. And you, are now ordered to rest. Will you disobey me in this also?"
"No ma'am," the younger Vulcan answered contritely, "I will rest. Marco has pressed the issue with me also; he has the character and bedside manner of a true doctor."
"Indeed," T'Len agreed, "he will make a fine doctor, eventually. You yourself will soon graduate, and I know just the assignment for you. When Doctor Mugata releases you from his care, you are to report to my office for assignment. After you have spoken with your dorm mates and reassured them, of course."
"Of course. Thank you for your allowances towards my group." Sonak watched T'Len leave and sighed in relief. Then she settled back on the bed and gradually allowed herself to fall asleep.

He turned to Fox, and explained his plan. "Sonak told me to attempt to find some way to contact Temporal Intelligence, and the Temporal Mechanics lab would seem to be the best way to do it." Fox looked back at Tovan. "I agree." he replied "However i have no idea how to contact them or who." "We'll try contact the person who send us here, Commander Morrow." Tovan answered "And how is your profession Commander." Fox smiled "You're right, luckily i've been attending my temporal mechanics classes." Fox replied. As they walked towards the physics building, Tovan surveyed the security arrangements. They seemed rather sparse, but there were likely some security officers by the more sensitive labs, the one's Tovan and Fox would need to get into. His logic proved correct, as he spied two ensigns outside the main temporal lab. They hadn't spotted the two cadets yet. He turned to Fox. "What do you suggest we do?" Fox thought for a little while. "I still have to do my essay assignment for temporal mechanics." he answered. "We can use that as excuse to enter the lab for some research." he looked at Tovan seeing if he would agree. After a while of thinking Tovan nodded. "We can try." Both of them walked to the main lab. "Look!." One guard said to the other and pointed to Fox and Tovan approaching. When both cadets stood in front of the guards the left one ask. "What is your business here?" Fox started to explain about the essay assignment his professor for temporal mechanics had given and that they wanted to do some research here. "Isn't the library a better place to find information?" the right guard said. Fox nodded in reply and said "To look up things yes, but you learn far more from doing things yourself." the guard agreed to that and left both cadets enter the building. Looking around they could see no one was there. "Good." Fox said "No one else here. Then we can contact Morrow without worrying being heard."

As Fox and Tovan attempted to contact Cmdr. Morrow, Byrne contacted Fox with the new attempt to obtain the weapon from the security office and be able to transport it to the lab that Fox was in.
Sending a quick contact to Marco, he explained a plan to have the doctor and Donovan outside the security office, awaiting a majorly subtle distraction caused by Trey to create a significant uprise and use the transporter facility to create a site-to-site transport of the weapon. Only problem was, only Trey knew the actual coordinates of the weapon.
Entering the Kobyashi Maru scenario chamber, Logan proceeded to rewite the logarithms of the the deck and try to recreate a reproduction of the security office.
Using a secure comm badge, he relayed the progress to D'Angelo asking him to relay back what the child was seeing from outside the building.
Once he created the room, he sent a command to proceed with the tranport procedure. Within moments, Commander Dawson and his staff were distracted by the antics of Trey and Marco attempting to gain access into the office for statements and doing their adolescent investigation. Yelling that they have been given permission from a senior advisor/professor, they distracted the staff long enough for Donovan to disorient them long enough for Logan to remove the phaser from the room and send it to Fox.
Once the antics ended, Dawson stood in from of Cadet Maverick confused as to whom these cadets were and why they were there. Totally absent bout the attack in the courtyard. (TAG Donovan-you fill in the blanks)

"So you want to be a Doctor, eh?"
The child was not amused. Sonak had ordered Marco to take the child 'under his wing'. The last time he tried taking the child anywhere, a scene was made, and uniformed officers almost got involved. Reluctantly, Doctor D'Angelo tried talking to the child... trying to get him to open up. While he may be used to reading minds, Marco couldn't. He needed a little more than the few words from the boy.
<Daye>
"Well - how about this - since the last time I selfishly was using you, this time, since you are so interested in what is going on here - " Marco felt this was a given. Why else would the boy continue to stick around if he had such protests? - "then let me at least get you something to eat."
<Daye>
It was clear Sonak knew something about this child that Marco didn't know. Perhaps he would grow to be a famous scientist or something... although, the doctor couldn't recall anyone named "Daye" in the medical annals... which was what the child showed somewhat of an interest in it seemed. Hmmph.
Marco left. This time he didn't turn around to see if the boy followed or not. Personally, he didn't care. If the child wasn't going to help - then why bother forcing him. If Sonak was correct, the boy's curiosity would get the better of him, and he would follow.

There was a flurry of activity, but no one seemed to want to answer any of Donovan's questions. They did seem intent on keeping his attention though. The grumpy doctor seemed to especially want his attention ... which seemed odd to Van.
"You don't like kids very much, do you?" he asked in his best little boy voice as he followed the man.
The doctor waved him to follow him. It seemed the man was oh so close to telling him what he wanted to hear and yet, when push came to shove he kept his lips closed. Donovan would just have to work this mystery out on his own.
"Who is L'Ola?" he asked while following in the older man's wake, "She seems to be on everyone's mind ... where is she?"

A few hours later, Sonak woke up to the silence of the academy's sickbay. Her ward was semi-dark, and looked to be deserted. Deciding she'd had enough rest, she pulled back the bedcover and slid out of bed, reaching for her uniform. When she was halfway through getting herself dressed, an action that was somewhat hindered by her bandaged arm and shoulder, she was startled to hear a voice behind her.
"Where do you think you're going?" a female voice sounded.
Startled, Sonak whirled around, steadying herself on the bed and froze in horror. Before her stood the blonde girl from ethics class, wearing a nurse's uniform. "Home," she answered, when she trusted her voice enough to speak, "I have to find my friend and you are not going to stop me."
"And who are you to judge?" the girl answered, approaching the horrified Vulcan, "you were shot and ordered to rest. And rest you shall, now please get back to bed."
"I am a doctor," the Vulcan replied, "and I have rested, for several hours. Now I need to rejoin my group mates, and get back to work. Step aside."
To her horror, the girl didn't budge. "You're almost a doctor," she corrected her patient, "just like I'm almost a nurse. And right now, you're not qualified to pass any judgement as you are a patient. Now please, get back to bed before I have to force you to. You look pale, shaken and terrified. I don't need to be a telepath to notice that, now please, get back to bed."
Sonak raised an eyebrow; her tormentor would've carried out such thread long before she would've been able to decline. This was new, and certainly different and she relaxed visibly when she sensed no threat from the girl. "It is important that I rejoin my group," she answered, "I can rest later. I will promise to rest but I cannot stay in sickbay."
The girl nodded. "Very well, I'll pretend I never saw you slip out. Come back here for a check-up in the morning."
"Thank you," Sonak replied and hurried out of sickbay to join Fox and Tovan. They were the first she located. "Found anything yet?" she called as she approached, adjusting her uniform in mid-stride.

Tovan and Fox worked hard to find a way to contact Temporal Intelligence before somebody walked in. Working at a temporal radio, Tovan remembered a new monitoring frequency that had just been implemented a couple years ago, at least in his own time frame. Nobody would be listening in the current year, but back in his own time, somebody would hopefully pick up on it and respond. He had just sent out a message, when the door opened. He turned quickly to see Sonak walk throught the door.
"Found anything yet?" she asked.
"I just sent out a message along a temporal frequency that Temporal Intelligence should be monitoring," Tovan replied. "We should get a response any second."
Just then, an image flickered through on the radio. It was the temporal agent, which had sent them all back in the first place.
"Have you found the dissident yet," he asked.
"Not yet, we require more information," Tovan replied, then looked to his commanding officer to elaborate.

"No - I really don't. If my Capta... friend.. didn't force me into this, I wouldn't be doing this, quite honestly."
The Lieutenant gave a proud grin. It was very satisfying to tell him he was unwanted. It was obviously apparent, by the doctor's demeanor, that he was telling the truth.
A group of students came toward the two walking, and split them. When the crowd made their way past, Marco lost the child again. "Where did he go?!"
The boy tugged at his right side. "Switched sides on me... heh". The Doctor was not amused.
"Who is L'ola" the boy asked.
Marco's face flushed. "How did he know?--- that's right, he's Betazoid." Marco's face flushed for a different reason. "He must know how I fee.." D'Angelo made every effort at that point to clear his mind.
Composing himself, he said in the most calm manner, "She was abducted by some people. They are bad people. We need to find them. I know you don't want to help - but my partner in the infirmary seems to think you have potential for something."
"So he can read minds, so what?" Marco had argued earlier with Sonak.
"I can't explain it now... just trust me." Sonak had said in response. Of course, none of that sat well with Marco, but he was used to the Commodores mysterious command style. It seemed to work, and she showed compassion where compassion was needed. He had made the decision to listen.
"... and ... since we are both hungry, let me get you something to eat." They entered the common campus cafeteria, where they ran into Logan.
"And this is another one of my... associates."
Logan introduced himself to Marco. He seemed to like kids a bit better, and warmed up to the boy fast. Marco had yet to do so.
"Join us for lunch?" Marco asked, hoping they could monopolize the conversation with casual conversation, and not of conversation a seven-year-old would have. It was hardly the time for eating, but Marco hoped he could get a gameplan figured out with Logan on how to get L'ola back.

Logan had quickly stopped at the lab to drop off the phaser he had attained and had given it at Fox. While Tovan was working with the temporal radio, Fox examined the phaser, identifying it as a phaser from their time.
"Good thing we were able to get it." Fox thought. "This doesn't belong here."
Then suddenly behind him and Tovan the door of the lab opened. Hearing this, in fear of it being one of the guards Fox quickly hid the phaser. Then he heard a familiar voice.
"Found anything yet?" Sonak asked.
She walked to Tovan who reported on their progress just before the answer over the radio came. After having gotten more information from the agent, the radio was turned off and evidence of them calling that specific frequency erased. Then Sonak turned to Fox.
"What did you hide when i walked in?" She asked. He quickly showed the phaser that Logan had brought. "I thought you to be a guard and we can't be seen with this." Sonak nodded. "I'm quite sure its from the guy we're looking for. It doesn't belong in this time."
"Keep it with you, but hide it well." Sonak answered. "We'll get expelled if this weapon is found in our possession." Fox nodded in agreement. "I sure will." he replied.

The three officers were still somewhat shocked at the information their contact had given them, even though it was rather belated. Their target was a male, of british descent and in his late 40s or early 50s. Supposedly, he taught here at the academy and he was skilled in many languages and sciences. Obviously he had aqcuired a fair amount of knowledge during his time travels as a temporal agent, and now he would be putting them to good use.
Sonak sank down in the nearest seat, what little energy she had almost spent and glanced up at her two officers. "I know you will keep that weapon safe," she told Fox, "but after you examined it, it may be best to destroy it altogether. We do not wish for anyone of this time to accidently stumble across it."
The Vulcan turned to Tovan, who was still clearing any evidence of their use of the temporal frequency. "Good work ensign," she praised the younger man, "now, using that same trick, do you believe you may be able to locate Commander Kanz and where she is held captive?"
Before Tovan could respond, however, someone else entered the room. Fox sped into an adjacent room, quickly hiding the weapon, before returning under the pretense of having executed a few experiments in the adjoining laboratory. The two Vulcans turned, somewhat startled, to be confronted by Professor Quinn, brandishing a small but certainly deadly weapon.

Professor Quinn strolled through the corridors of the Acadmey, his eyes flickering back and forth, taking in all that was around him. Something was out of place here, it had been for the past few days and it had taken until this morning for him to put his finger on it. You see, Professor Quinn prided himself on the abilitiy to look at any situation and immediately see the underlying currents of what was going on. The truth behind the actions if you will. That is what made him so good at his job, but it had taken him days to see what was right before his eyes. On his arrival at the Academy and accepting the teaching role almost two years ago he knew that he would have to wait patiently for the right time to fall into place. Time was a tricky matter, a matter that he greatly loved. And as Professor Quinn whisked through the corridors he allowed his thoughts to ponder on time itself and all it's beauty until he arrived at his destination. A small blade fell from his sleeve into his hand, it was a beautiful weapon, skilfully made and out of time itself. He had been warned about carrying such things but rules often meant nothing to him, if not just an obstacle to the way of success. He was sure that this is why he had been assigned this particular mission. What he could not understand is why it was a group of Cadets that were sent to stop his completion of said mission. The doors slowly slid open and those inside jumped, one Cadet sped quickly from another room into the one Quinn and the others occupied and the Professor's eyes narrowed.
"Its beautiful, isn't it?" He asked, moving the blade slowly before the concerned looking Cadets.
"And quite unique so I'm told." He smiled. "At least at the moment." He walked slowly forwards and stared at the oldest Cadet, with the highest rank. "Perhaps, Cadet." He started. "You would be so kind as to tell me why you are in these restricted laboratories? I don't remember being told that a work group had clearance for such a room? And why you're explaing that, perhaps you'd also like to tell me exactly what your young friend over there moved to hide from me before I entered?"

After delivering the weapon to Fox, Byrne escorted Marco and Daye into the hallway. After seeing Professor Quinn pass them and seeming distracted, Logan pushed Marco and Donovan into a small closet.
Raising his hand to silence the child, he whispered for Donovan to attempt to sense the thoughts of the teacher that passed them. Reaching out, Donovan suddenly reeled back as if hit in the forehead. Grabbing his head, the child looked stunned. "I cannot believe it, that hurt," he said. Trying to shake it off, Marco held his hand to comfort him. "It was like the person I was just looking at was not there, but he was. I felt him," explained Donovan.
Rushing from the closet, Byrne sprinted to the Warp Theory Lab complex to obtain a temporal disortion machine. Heading back to the Science Wing, he created a small subspace bubble to allow him to enter the lab unnoticed, but also unable to interact with the occupants.
Entering the lab, he noticed the two cadets and the professor engaged in some sort of display of authority. Only once did he see the knife Quinn was brandishing that he knew that him and the other team would have their sabatour.
As he left the room, the field dissapated, allowing him to re-enter normal space. Openning the closet, Logan grabbed the doctor and the child and rushed from the Science Wing to find Trey. Only Trey would have the knowledge to mount a possible rescue for the Commodore and Tovan. (TAG Trey)

Raising an eyebrow, Sonak gazed directly at the Ethics instructor, while also keeping an eye on the weapon. "As I am a fourth year cadet, and graduating soon, I have permission from Professor T'Len to be in this particular laboratory when I need to. And as I am also tutoring my two companions I thought it would save time if I spent both time on my final project and show Cadets Tovan and Fox how to proceed on their own projects." She knew it was a lie, even though it was not a complete lie, but she could tell Quinn didn't believe her.
"Cadet Fox is not hiding anything," she continued, motioning towards the adjacent room, "but if you believe me a liar, you may check for yourself." Even in the 24th century it was still taken as fact that Vulcans never lied, and she could tell that Quinn was in doubt.
From the corner of her eyes she saw Logan darty by, followed by the CMO and the boy. She felt some relief at the fact that they didn't bolt into the room in a rash attempt to come at their aid. Quinn was adept enough to have the three of them killed before their rescuers had so much as taken a step towards them. "And why are you pulling a weapon on me professor?" she querried in turn, her eyebrows raised as she nodded towards the small blade, "poisoned no doubt and mastercrafted. It is unethical is it not, especially since we are unarmed."
That was partially true for they had the futuristic weapon that Fox had expertly hidden. "What threat are we to you that you feel the need to draw a weapon on us? You are obviously not going to kill us otherwise you would already have done so." The Vulcan woman took a step forward towards Quinn, who raised his blade in defense of himself. She took another step forward until she came in contact with the tip of the blade, then stopped.
Fearless, she gazed into Quinn's eyes and raised her hand towards his face. She sensed Tovan's apprehension even if he made no outward sign of it. She had sensed something in the younger Vulcan, something she couldn't place but now was not the time to dwell on it. Remembering certain orders about mind-melds and not performing them just like that, she made contact with Quinn's face and closed her eyes. She felt him freeze under her touch as she entered his mind in search for the truth, and the information they needed.

L'Ola rubbed her head again. The sharp pain she had felt when she first came round wasn't there any more thanks to some handy mind tricks. But the numbness that replaced the pain wasn't at all comforting. She was still all too aware that something wasn't right inside her head and that no amount of mind tricks would make it right.
Something had obviously happened when they knocked her out. She knew she was vulnerable when it came to hits on the head, but nothing this bad had ever happened before. At least she could still think straight and her memory seemed to be working as well as it ever did. In fact, if she was human then her brain would have been in perfect working order. If she was human.
The absence of feelings was strange. It had taken her a few minutes originally to work out what was wrong, but that was definitely it. L'Ola couldn't sense anything at all. Not even the smallest hint of emotion from anyone else. It was scary in a way, to know that such a big thing was wrong with your brain. She just hoped that when the others found her that Marco would be able to do something to help.
That was assuming that they would find her. This wasn't exactly the most obvious place in the world to look. From what she could see and had seen, L'Ola guessed she was in a storage cupboard in an out-of-use office. Definitely still on the campus, by design, but clearly not the sort of place that people would be visiting everyday. Or in fact any day. And without the ability to sense her crewmates, that was something that worried her.

Donovan's skull felt like it had suddenly shrunk around his sensitive little brain. He moaned and clutched at his head and stumbled back into the grumpy doctor. The first shock was easy to deal with, but the residual reaction was far worse. It was almost as if his mind had locked itself onto its target and refused to give it up, despite the fact that its pursuit of the target was turning his brain to mush. He closed his eyes tight and tried to think of something else.
"Puppies, puppies, puppies," he murmured to himself as a few tears forced their way around his closed eye lids.
He'd had a problem like this before, at a funeral for one of his father's students. His father told him that it had something to do with him not being able to cut himself off from intense emotion. Of course, he wasn't sure if he was feeling any emotion, but the connection was intense ... he couldn't feel anything ... just the connection and the pain.

The Professor felt his eyes force themselves closed as the Cadet's hand pushed against his face. He immediately felt the all too familiar sensation of someone else being present within his very mind and almost as immediately began to combat the attack on his thoughts. Over the years he had come across his fair share of mind-melds and found that the best form of defence was attack. The Vulcan who was adminstering the procedure relied on the fact that the recepient would not attempt to break the link, if this were to happen then their job would be twice as hard, if not impossible if the mind and fight back was strong. Professor Quinn began to immediately think of every emotional circumstance that he could possible recall. Using this not only as an attack to break the meld but also a block to all that his mind contained. He could feel the Vulcan Cadet straining as the emotional tide grew in strength, images of diseased and dying infants flashed before their eyes, entire planets being destroyed, civilisations being erased. The Professor forced open his eyes and stared into his assailant's, he smiled at her, a thin line of sweat on her brow.
"You are strong." He said to her through the meld. "Too strong for someone of your years. But what you have not accounted for is just how strong I am. Do not underestimate me again."
With this one final set of images flashed across their minds eye. It was a group of Cadets, all looking strangely familiar to the Vulcan, their faces to the floor, blood visible from gaping wounds in their backs.
"Time means nothing to me." The Professor continued. "Your attempts to stop me have failed numerous times already, each time this happens to you."
The mutilated bodies turned over and their sightless gazes ripped into the meld. A cry filled the air and Quinn shoved the Vulcan Cadet hurtling across the Lab. Her comrades immediately rushed to her side, and in the time it took for them to check her basic vitals Professor Quinn had well and truly vanished.

She cried out in anguish as she was sent hurtling across the lab and crashed hard into one of the tables. The images of the mind meld still flashed before her eyes and she willed them to stop. She felt Fox and Tovan kneel beside her and support her, and when she opened her eyes she gazed into Fox's concerned eyes.
"Are you all right?" the science chief asked as he flipped open a tricorder to check her vitals.
The Vulcan nodded. "He knows," she breathed, "he knows who we are and has known all along. He is who we seek." She gazed past Fox, to where Quinn had stood before. "After him!" she cried, crawling back to her feet, leaning against the table unsteadily. She was drained of all energy and her whole body was in agony. "Go," she told her two male companions, "find him! He must not get away. I will wait here for Logan, we have a missing crewwoman whom we have to find. The child is crucial to us, he must find L'Ola and I know he can."
Tovan seemed to want to refuse. "Refusal is illogical," Sonak told the younger Vulcan, "obedience is logical, obey me Lieutenant. Find Quinn and detain him at all cost. Fox, take the weapon and use it if you must." She felt something itching under her tunic and she brushed her hand past her skin; it came away green. "The blade," she whispered, praying it wasn't poisoned. In his attempt to fight her off, he must've scratched her with it, albeit accidental or not. It wasn't a deep cut, but it was deep enough to bleed freely.
"Go," she repeated again, "I shall wait here."
"Your group leader is correct," a female voice suddenly came from the door. Doctor T'Len stepped forward. "Find Professor Quinn, I will stay with her." As Fox and Tovan ran from the lab, T'Len approached her star student. "Your action was rash and illogical," she spoke, "and proves your human upbringing. It is flawed, but understandable. I have had my eyes on Quinn for a while now, but could never prove his actions. With your assistance, I now have been able to gather enough evidence against him. The temporal directive will be pleased. You will be sent back to your own time once Quinn has been captured, and your crewwoman has been recovered."
Sonak stared pointedly at the medical professor. "You knew?" She couldn't believe it, here they had gone through all this trouble on their own, and now it appeared T'Len was a temporal agent herself, who had been after a certain dissident as well.
T'Len nodded. "But I was not certain until Miss Kanz was abducted and you were shot. Even then I could not reveal myself. I belong in this time, and I was warned I would receive assistance from the future. I was not told who. Now, you must sit down and not move. You were unwise to leave sickbay, and now you are suffering the consequences."
Sonak nodded and sank down on the nearest stool, leaning heavily against the table. "I feel weak," she murmured, as she tried to keep her eyes open. When she finally closed them, images of her mind meld flashed before her eyes again and she groaned. Then suddenly she saw Quinn running and she gasped. "Quinn!" Her eyes snapped open. "He is in the forest, and he is with my security chief. Please, you must warn my team about their location."
T'Len raised an eyebrow but nodded and tapped her combadge. "Commander T'Len to Cadet Byrne. Go to the forest, you will find Commander Quinn and your missing team member. You will be joined by Cadets Fox and Tovan. Unfortunately, Cadet Sonak will not be joining you. Please send Cadet D'Angelo and the child, Donovan Daye back to the science wing. Captain Daye will want his son to come home for dinner."

As Logan received the command for him to join Fox and Tovan at the openning to the wooded area behind the Academy, Byrne ordered the doctor and the child back to the Science Lab to assist Professor T'Len in attending to Sonak. Catching a glimpse of his fellow cadets bursting from the rear of the Science Complex, fearing something dyre, he followed Marco into the lab where Sonak and Tovan had been confronted by the cold-blooded Quinn.
Entering the room, he was stunned to see his commanding officer slumped against a table leg, in a puddle of green blood. Rushing to her side, she sternly told him to follow Professor T'Len's orders and join Fox and follow Quinn to L'Ola in the woods. Confused, he just stood up and ran to the path in the woods to join Fox and Tovan. Daye and D'Angelo stayed behind as the child looked in horror at another being bleeding.
Catching up to the team, he noticed that Tovan had some green on his uniform and Fox was now brandishing the future phaser from the lab. Shooting them a befuddled glance, they just grabbed him and Tovan stated that they would fill him in on the way. Once Logan was informed, he started as the lead for the group to find Cadet Kanz. Reaching a clearing about 300 m from main complex, they saw a small openning in the brush with a padlocked gate. Motioning to Fox to shoot it, a sign fell down onto the ground making a loud clatter. It read, 'Section 31 Biological Energy Metagenics Laboratory'.
Inching thru the brush, they came upon a disguised entrance to what appeared to be a normal sized concrete facility. Using the phaser to blow away the entrance panel, the small group cautiously entered the facility. Once inside, they came upon a settings of shelves with multiple pieces of equpment sitting on them.
Examining the pieces, Logan was able to discern that this equipment was recently placed here and was still funtional. Grabbing a set of wrist lights, the group was able to make out a map on the wall of the corridor that showed the layout of the facility. Checking closer, Fox and Byrne were able to make out a section of rooms that seemed to have been tapped on thru the dust covering the plastic casing. After multiple attempts to contact Sonak and T'Len, they realized that they would have to either rescue L'Ola on their own, or get some more help. (TAG Sonak and Tovan)

Time... Nothing more than a web of string, overlapping at points, distancing at others... Complex in nature yes... But not so complex that it was unexplorable...
Quinn had been traversing time for as many years, hundreds if you counted the periods of time he had travelled to. In these years he had met with himself countless times and found these situations not to be damaging to the timeline for he often lived out of his own time anyway. In fact, he found them most helpful, these encounters, they often provided great insight into his current situation and more often than not proved to be extremely valuable in extraditing himself from tricky situations. Today was no different. As Professor R.O. Quinn made his way through the darkened facility in the small wooded enclosure outside of the Academy another Professor R.O. Quinn was working his way through the ages. In fact, this particular Quinn was well aware of his past counterpart, and the fate that awaited him. For he had, after all, lived through it. Time's tricky like that, when the Quinn who was travelling back now had been sent back to this time he had survived by swapping with his past contemporary, another Professor R.O. Quinn. However, this Quinn had no intention of losing his life the way he knew would happen. For, after all, this was not the first time this scenario had been played out, and he was sure it would not be the last. Temporal Agent Quinn, in any era, had a particular mission that was always clear. Hide. His almost constant secondary objective was to distort the timeline, manipulating it to his Seniors advantage. Whether he be present during 21st Century Earth or at the beginning of the Dawn of Time, there was always something that he needed to be doing that could alter the timeline to their advantage. Often it was small things, insignificant in their own time, more often his presence was enough to distort the timeline enough to achieve what he had hoped for...
A small rippling of the air was all there was to notice of Professor R.O. Quinn's entrance into the room. He was of course identical with his past counterpart, right down to the musty odour that hung about him. Apparantly this was all apart of his character as a Professor... He just found it plain disgusting. Before him, with their backs turned, were the some of the crew from the year 2393, and T'Len, the one who had been causing the problems back here... She was an agent subject to her own time, one who chose not to traverse the ages and one who chose to side with Starfleet's Temporal Department... She was the reason that things were not progressing in the future as they should be. Her presence was allowing the timeline to remain on its present track. She was the first stumbling block. A stumbling block that was easily removed. One blast of his weapon was enough to send the Vulcan crashing to the floor. A clean hole was clear in her chest, damage to the wall she had been facing from Quinns weapon was visible from where he stood. She had not survived that, he could feel the timeline begin to shift and slowly her body began to phase out of the timeline and out of normal time itself. Seconds later and T'Len of Vulcan was not even recorded in history, she had never been born according to the timeline now. Phase 1 complete.
"Dont underestimate time Commodore." Quinn said to the wounded woman who lay on the floor. "Nor what I can do with it." He added, dissapearing back into the void of time itself.

T'Len sat with Sonak, while Marco amused the boy for a while. Quietly, they discussed the next proceedings now that the professor knew who they really were. "I am Commodore Sonak Reckus," the younger Vulcan woman introduced herself, "and that young man is Doctor Marco D'Angelo, recently graduated from Starfleet Medical and already a very valuable addition to my crew."
She saw Marco cast an embarassed but distinctly annoyed glance her way. "And an annoyance to say the least," she added quietly. She motioned the boy over. "Donovan Daye." Sonak worked herself up to sit a little more upright, wincing slightly. "Your assistance to our mission has been invaluable. If you ever need a commendation to enter starfleet academy, you got it, just contact me or contact Commander T'Len and she will vouch for you."
Sonak winced again as Marco ripped open her uniform to get at the injury. "Stop fussing over me," she complained, "I am not seriously injured. It can wait." She was starting to get worried now as there had been no word from her other crewmates. "Perhaps you could escort young mister Daye home and deliver him safely to his father?"
Marco nodded, though with great reluctance and escorted the boy into an adjacent room to get cleaned up. At that precise moment, Quinn materialised in front of them out of nowhere. Sonak cast a confused glance up at him, knowing for certain that he had disappeared towards the woods and that Logan was in pursuit.
T'Len rose to her feet and started towards Quinn, but she didn't get very far. Quinn raised a weapon at her and she sank down to the floor with a smoking hole in her chest. Sonak gasped then cried out in horror as she witnessed the coldblooded liquidation of the starfleet medical professor. Then Quinn started towards her and she scrambled back as far as was possible in her weakened condition. She dared a glance sideways to where T'Len had fallen but there no longer was a body to identify. There was no trace of the dead Vulcan professor.
"Dont underestimate time Commodore." Quinn said to the wounded woman who lay on the floor. "Nor what I can do with it." He added, dissapearing back into the void of time itself.
Sonak sat frozen against the desk, afraid to move lest the temporal agent would come back to finish the job. Had Marco listened in from the next room? Had the boy been spared this horror? They had severely underestimated Quinn, and now they were paying for it. The man had to be captured, with due haste at that. "Sonak to Logan," she managed, her voice shaking with terror, "beware of Quinn, he is extremely dangerous. Do not confront him, shoot him on sight. We want him alive, but I do not care if you have to use heavy weaponry to get at him. Professor T'Len is dead..."
At that moment, Marco returned and the Vulcan burst into tears as she saw him.

After sending Tovan back to the entrance, he was able to send a comm-signal to Trey to bring some heavy weapons to incompacitate Quinn. Waiting a few minutes, Trey entered the bunker with all of the weapons needed to take out the sabatour from the future. Once meeting up with the team, Trey handed Logan a isolinear chip containing the final moments of Professor T'Len and the figure that caused her death. Running this thru his tricorder, Logan saw the one figure that stopped him in his tracks.
At that moment a figure stepped out of the shadows, it was Quinn. Fox fired a shot and missed as if the target wasn't there. Shoving Trey aside, who was carrying the heavy gear, Logan grabbed a blast pack and primed it. Throwing it down the corridor, he saw the figure explode in the blast. Gripping Tovan, the group started setting up the temporal shielding terminals throughout the complex.
Hearing muffled cries and banging, Tovan and Fox used the phaser to blow away a door to an adjacent lab. Inside they found L'Ola slumped over a metal table tapping with what strength she had left. She looked dehydrated and lack of food. Grabbing L'Ola, Fox handed Trey the phaser and threw her over his shoulder and headed for the exit.
Seconds later another figure appeared before the cadets. It was Quinn again. Yelling, Logan said," I just killed you!" Seeing the calm expression on Quinn's face, he knew this was a setup. Listening to Quinn's words, the only thought he had was to fire up the temporal generators.(TAG Quinn)

"I returned the boy." The statement must have been dramatic, because it made the Vulcan Commodore cry.
"He's alright! I didn't give him any trouble this time." but Marco realized it wasn't his statement that caused her to cry, but the entire preceding events, and the reality of the situation.
The mix of emotions - first being courted by the engineering officer - then the dream - then the stress of keeping the doctor on a short leash... they had all taken a toll on the Commodore-now-Cadet who was not used to dealing with the emotions of a college-aged Vulcan. She sobbed in Marco's arms for a few minutes until suddenly, as if a switch had been flipped, she regained composure.
"Did the boy say anything to you on the way back?" she asked, after a few moments of silence.
"Not much. He still seemed interested in learning about us though - or so I got the feeling." It was a curious thought - where the boy might end up in life. Marco made a mental note to look him up when he got back. Hopefully they hadn't altered the timeline too badly with their presence.
Logan cut into the sentimentals with a communique with his status. Quinn was killed. Marco could feel Sonak relax. It wasn't a psionic engram, however, but an observation Marco had made.
Sonak was in the middle of explaining who Quinn was, when another communique from Logan came through, exactly the same as the first.
"He must be stuck in a time loop." Sonak proclaimed, eyes watering up again. This day was not teaming up to be a good one; not emotionally for Sonak, nor operationally for the crew of the USS Vesuvius.
Everything that Marco had read about temporal loops made him want no part of it. They had to be worked out on their own. He would stay and comfort Sonak, as long as she needed it. Sonak had other plans.
"We have to help him." she said, as she got up, motioning for Marco to follow her.

Pressing a hand against her side in an attempt to keep the injury from bleeding again, Sonak ran after Marco, who pulled her along as he ran. Something was terribly wrong, and the Vulcan knew that Quinn had something to do with it. She was still trying to process the information gained from Quinn through the mind meld, even though it wasn't much. Her worst fear was that his prediction of her crew getting killed would come true, even though she tried to shake it off as a lure imprinted in her mind, so that she would act differently than she normally would have.
It was indeed working, to some extend. They arrived at the building, where Fox with L'Ola slung over his shoulders came running towards them. Sonak pulled her hand free from Marco's, then pointed towards Fox and L'Ola. "Attend to L'Ola," she ordered, as she marched forward, each step one of agony.
This place was close to where L'Ola had been abducted, and where she'd been shot with the odd weapon. She was still smarting from that, and it was not just her pride. The Vulcan observed Tovan and Logan trying to battle the rebellious temporal agent, then stepped in as Logan shot him once again. She took the shot and went down, upon which Trey and Tovan together jumped on the temporal agent and knocked him down.
The temporal loop was broken, as Quinn wasn't killed as he had assumed he would be. Sonak crawled back to her feet, accepting Logan's helping hand, then glared down at Quinn's bound form. "Never think you can get away with a crime," she spat at him, "even if you are a temporal agent. Professor T'Len's death will be accounting severely in your punishment, though that is for the Temporal Directive to bestow upon you."
She nodded towards Marco, who sat beside the now stirring security chief, then collapsed in Logan's arms.
When she woke again, she found herself lying in sickbay. At first, she thought it to be the academy's sickbay, but when she sat up she was pleased to find it was her own ship she was aboard. She didn't know how long she'd been unconscious, and she was fairly certain she was supposed to rest, but she got up anyway.
Sonak was surprised to find an admiral sitting at her bedside, looking worried. "Sir?" she querried, getting his attention.
The admiral looked up, then smiled. "Your mission was a success commodore," he started, "and we have been able to correct history too. Professor T'Len is no longer erased from history and her timeframe has been sealed to the Temporal Agents. However, Quinn escaped our custody but we will not stop looking for him. At least we know where he can't go now."
Sonak lay back on her bed and let the information sink in. "And what of the boy? Is he all right?"
"I can't answer that," the admiral replied, then patted her arm in comfort. "Rest now commodore, and enjoy a few days of shoreleave. Admiral Clark will soon have new orders for you. Oh, and I am to inform you that previous charges against your crew are being put under review, given your most recent actions in the past. Don't worry about them for now, I'm sure they'll be dropped."
Sonak nodded and lay back. Her crew had indeed deserved shoreleave, as they hadn't had any for months.
