An walked over to the door, listening intently. "Someone's out there," he confirmed Rose's report, then walked over to her. "How are you holding up commander," he asked her, "perhaps you should take a rest. None of us have rested for several hours."
Sonak meanwhile had broken open one of the cabinets in the computer room, one that stored emergency rations. "Dinner," she suggested, holding up one of the silver wraps. "Or breakfast." It annoyed her that she couldn't figure out how much time had passed since she and Rose had left the Crab Shack. It could be well over a day ago for all she knew.
Twenty-four decks had power, though it wasn't much. And between those twenty four decks, the senior staff of both the Olympia and the Vesuvius were trapped. That meant Colonel Wong and most of her senior staff were trapped elsewhere on the station, between those decks. She'd only had contact with Tan and Smith, but not a word from Wong.
"Sonak to Tan," she called, after tapping her combadge. There was a long silence before Tan replied. "Report," she ordered, waiting impatiently for the commander to resume. "Is Smith still with you? Are you both unhurt?"
Tan tapped his comms badge .. We're fine now Commodore .. We had a bit of a close call with the Alien and got locked in a Jeffries tube .. We are just about to climb back to our previous level .."
"Acknowledged," she answered, "we had an encounter with someone as well, but he escaped us. Any suggestions on how to contain them? As there seem to be two of them out there. Our attacker was Trill."
Steven nodded to David to continue his report to the Commodore .. "Well .. I had the Olympia adjust the oxygen content of our immediate decks to induce a form of hypoxia." Tan said, "The entity seems to either ignore unconscious bodies .. Or simply doesn't see them as a threat or even useful." There was a brief pause. "There's no reason the same couldn't work for the one you have down there .. With a few adjustments you could at least slow the entity to a point where it can be physically subdued."
"That is useful news," Sonak replied, looking sideways to see Rose nod in agreement. "Commander Rose seems in ageement of that theory. However, we cannot lower the oxygen content on the entire station, to knock everyone out can we?" It was a good theory though. "Thank you commander. If you have further suggestions on how to proceed, I shall gladly hear them. We shall proceed on your theory from this end. If you hear from Wong or the others, bring him up to speed. We shall do the same. Sonak out."
Captain Smith tapped his Comms badge as he stepped into the corridor .. "Smith to Commodore .. I would suggest keeping an open Comm link with the Olympia at all times .. That way we will not break contact."
"Acknowledged captain," Sonak replied, "keep me informed of your status." She didn't sign off this time, but turned to the others in her team. "Rose, forget about the power output, we have more immediate concerns. Tan suggested a hypoxia theory. I want us to start working on that. We need a way to overpower whoever is out there killing our crews, we have no access to a medical kit. To my knowledge there is none in the immediate vicinity and sickbay is well out of our current reach."
She turned to An. "Secure the perimiter, use Larok's marines if you have to. Larok, stay here and watch our backs. You did a good job of that a while ago, I would not want you out of my reach just now."
The last thing she wanted was for the Trill to attack them again, but she was certain he would show up when they were least concerned about it. An walked up to her, a look of concern on his face. "Ma'am, we also need to rotate watches," he suggested, "when was the last time you slept?"
Sonak smiled ruefully. "I do not know," she said, "it has been a while, well before we docked the ship to the station. But you are correct, we do need to rest."
"I insist you take a rest now," An said, looking quite serious, "You and Commander Rose can alternate working on your theory. Larok and I can alternate guarding you two."
"Rose, do you agree?" The Vulcan turned to Olympia's chief science officer.

After passing on all the information they could to the Commodore, Tan and the Captain continued making their way to the Space Dock ..
Two more hours, and umpteen emergency bulkheads later, they reached the corridor ..
Neither man was complaining, there had been no more sighting of the Alien .. Checking with the Olympia, her sensors locked on the two, it confirmed that the Alien was outside the one hundred meters radius. in fact, it was almost fifteen levels below them at the moment, and Sonaks was outside the Olympia's scans .. Though it was safe to think it was still in this part of the space station, why go up when you have all the sport, food, whatever it needed, right here !
"We're here." Smith said, relief in his voice.
Tan nodded silently, then activated the door .. Once inside the massive power room, he sealed the door magnetically, ensuring their safety ..
Reversing the power flow from the Space dock's reactors didn't take as long as before, and within five minutes, the Olympia's computer confirmed that the power transfer was now ready for activation ..
Both Officers were almost dead on their feet by now .. Exhaustion was setting in rapidly .. Tan checked the first aid cabinet, locating a hypo and phials. Finding a stimulant, he gave himself a shot, then walked over to the Captain .. Smith was out cold, he had been injured during his fall through the Jeffries tube hatch, a simple knock on the head had given him a mild concussion .. Checking his pulse, Tan decided to let him sleep for a short time. He injected a pain-killer and then tapped his Comms badge ...
=^= Tan to Commodore Sonak =^=
=^= Sonak .. Report Commander =^=
=^= Ma'am .. We are ready to transfer power fro the dock reactors .. There should be a surge then the power levels should stabilize =^=
=^= Very well .. We are ready .. Where is Captain Smith ? =^=
=^= He's resting .. He got a hit on the head earlier .. I'm worried he may have a concussion .. I've treated him and let him sleep for the moment =^=
=^= Keep me apprised of his condition .. I will attempt to get medical help up to you as soon as feasible .. Sonak out =^=
With the Comm closed, Tan double-checked that everything was right, then transfered power back into the Star base .. Lighting flicked for a few seconds, then almost went out completely, before coming back brighter than before .. David was more than pleased with himself, all the effort had paid off. But his pleasure was short-lived ...
"CAUTION !!" the Olympia's computer churped in his ear, "Reactor power currently at ninety eight point three percent .. At current rate of use .. Power will reach critical minimum level in twenty nine point seven hours."
"All this effort .. For a days worth of lighting !" Tan said, almost to himself.
"Please rephrase the question." the Olympia's computer said, not knowing the comment was meant to be ironic, and not an actual question ..
The stimulant was working, but David still slid down the bulkhead until he was sat on the floor .. They had just over a day to get the Star bases' warp core back on-line .. Or the station would be plunged into complete darkness. With no artificial gravity, but more important .. No life support ..........

Tiberian listened as te engineers talked on, looking around the corridor in which they were stood. Something was wrong, very wrong, but he could not for the life of him put his finger on it. If they could launch a pair of shuttles and ride them down to the bottom of te station, they could use the shuttle's independent power sources to restart the main reactors via the external power hatches. In theory that was.
Then the Sivoan dropped behind them, causing all to swivel around with a start, aiming their weapons at the creature who lay prostrated on the floor, writhing as if in pain.
"Colonel Wong...," she whispered, pleading as her tail drooped in submission, "please, help me!" "Please," she pleaded, "you must help me."
"Sir, be careful" Martinez said, levelling his rifle a little more, but Tiberian waved him off, handing his own rifle over to Sloan and drawing his hand phaser, keeping it trained on the Sivoan.
"I'm going to come a little closer" he said, trying to keep the big cat calm as he edged forwards "Don't panic, we're going to help you"
His faith had been misplaced. The cat hissed, her eyes flashing red as her claws unsheathed, the monstrous creature leaping at Tiberian. He fired but missed, and the phaser was struck from his hand before he could re-aim. The Sivoan's hind claws slashed his left leg, whilst her front paws tore strips in his chest. Tiberian screamed in mixed rage, terror and agony as he was forced on to his back by the cat's weight, struggling with all his might. He head butted the cat, hearing a sickening crunch as her nose bone broke, and he pummeled her abdomen with his fists, hopefully cracking at least a few ribs. Then with a last show of strength, he hurled the cat of his body and rolled to his right, grabbing his phaser and aiming it at the retreating creature. A well targeted blast hit the creature's lower back, slicing through er flesh, leaving a blood trail on the floor, and the force of which knocked her with significant force down the shaft she was retreating down.
Tiberian lay back, screaming as red pain blurred his vision. The blood was visibly pummping out of his left thigh, indicating a ruptured femoral artery, whilst the cuts in his chest burned as the blood ran. Katie, Alice and D'Angelo were all crowded at his sides, tending to his wounds. As the blood loss brought him to the brink of unconsciousness, he bellowed.
"Would one of you awfully mind DOING SOMETHING!"
He lapsed out of consciousness.

Watching the feline attack her commanding officer, Byrne misfired a shot over the creature's head, as Martinez shielded Wong as the creature fell into the shaft. Tossing a couple of grenades into the shaft and erected a forcefield to protect those near the opening.
Tapping into his quadcorder, he followed the doppler watching the creature head toward the main reactor assembly, and then he lost track of it. Linking into Fox's terminal, they were able to reestablish a slight link to the upper levels. Only problem was that most of their party was either maimed or occupied.
Checking with the Olympia's CEO, they created a way to drop the shuttle with the manual control in the shuttle control room. Just a matter of has the experience to drop the shuttle and reseal the bay before cutting through the bulkhead and wiping out the occupied deck.
Grabbing an isolinear chip from his upper pocket, Logan handed the chip to Commander Fox. Inserting it into the functioning console, Fox brought a schematic of the exterior of the Starbase. Pointing to a lower module, Logan explained his course of action.
"Firing through the Main Door would cause an emergency loss of pressure and without the electronics to create a forcefield on either side of the bay, we would risk blowing the entry doors to the corridors as well. I am going to pilot the shuttle with Weapons Specialist Hendrix manning the phasers. I need a volunteer to man the Main Control Room and reseal the room, once we have lowered the shuttle into the Maintenance Bay. Any hands?", stated Logan.

At the sound of the hypospray, Wong was out. "Would somebody do something?!" were his last words. Marco had replied - "certainly." .... ppshew went the hypospray.
"That should make things easier." Unfortunately, D'Angelo wasn't more of a help, still suffering from a bout of vertigo, no doubt due to the detoxification methods Katie had used. He would have to discuss with Abernathy, if they made it off the base alive, her methods she used. Perhaps over dinner sometime.
The thought of dinner brought back the gut wrenching pain of hunger. They had been trapped for so long, the doctor didn't know how much time had passed. He was starting to wish that he had made it to his quarters. At least he could hold himself up there with a lethal hypospray dosage and take care of anything that didn't get hit by his phaser first.
"It isn't as serious as he said it was. There is a lot of blood, but it doesn't appear an artery was cut." Abernathy gave a sigh of relief as Marco used a micro cauterizer on the capillaries. It was a wonder how the equipment managed to move from place to place. Mostly due to Alice's persistence and perseverance. For once, he was glad to be in the presence of two women. If Wong had his way we would have been dragging everyone along, with the nurses armed with phasers and instruments of destruction instead of hyposprays and instruments of health. Arming the women seemed a little wrong, although both were capable. It was probably why their unarmed nature was overlooked.
"Should I bring him to?" Alice said, when the leg wound was nothing more than some scarred dermal tissue. The concoction that Katie had given Marco for the infectious reaction was given to Wong in a preventative dosage, so there was no need to worry about similar consequences. The scars could be removed in a more controlled environment, with either a steadier hand than the nervous doctors or in a sickbay with equipment to automate the procedure.
"Let me get out of the way first," Marco said as he clutched his side while walking backward. If Wong woke up the same way Marco did previously, the Doctor would receive an uppercut to the jaw; something he wished to avoid.
The sound of a hypospray gave way to Wong awaking, mumbling about inefficiencies of modern medicine. The mumbles gave way to the realization that everything was fixed, and as if he did not skip a beat, orders started being administered once again.

Crystal was still fighting with the shields when Ensign An came over to her.
"How are you holding up commander," he asked, "perhaps you should take a rest. None of us have rested for several hours." Crystal smiled. Of course she was tired but she was doing her best to ignore that. "I'll catch a rest as soon as I've the these shields working."
"Dinner," Sonak suggested, holding up one of the silver wraps. "Or breakfast." Crystal looked over at the Vulcan. "Sounds good to me." She held out a hand and the commodore tossed her a ration pack. Crystal was surprised when she fumbled the catch she was obviously more tired than she had thought. She opened the ration pack and set it on the floor by her left knee, she started picking at it as she continued to work.
Crystal could hear Sonak talking to Tan as she continued her rewiring but she wasn't really listening. Then one part of the exchange broke into her mental haze. "we had an encounter with someone as well, but he escaped us. Any suggestions on how to contain them? As there seem to be two of them out there. Our attacker was Trill." Crystal's first thought was 'Oh great' and then she sighed and set to work on the shield wiring. She was also monitoring the power flow but that seemed to be stable at the moment.
"That is useful news," Sonak replied. Crystal nodded in response. "Commander Rose seems in agreement of that theory. However, we cannot lower the oxygen content on the entire station, to knock everyone out can we?"
That left Crystal thinking, it was certainly possible to lower the O2 content of the whole station but the tricky part was going to be lowering it far enough that everyone was out and not so far that anyone died... She literally thumped a stubborn connection home and the shields around the computer core hummed into life. They weren't at full power and it wasn't a complete seal of the area but it was a very good start. Crystal turned back to the power distribution relays.
Crystal nodded and turned to the environmental controls. They weren't really designed to be operated manually as she was doing but she had all ready convinced the artificial gravity controls to cooperate. Atmospheric controls shouldn't be much harder....
Ensign An continued to talk to the Commodore. While Crystal set to work prying off yet another access panel. She signed once more as she scanned the mass of circuitry inside. She now had two tricorders on the go. One monitoring the power relays and set to sound an alarm if anything destabalised and one that she was using.
"I insist you take a rest now," An said, looking quite serious, "You and Commander Rose can alternate working on your theory. Larok and I can alternate guarding you two." Crystal looked at the Commodore.
"My medical knowledge is very patchy and mostly biochemistry. What level of oxygen concentration are we trying to achieve?"

*Larok listened to all the back and forth discussion of various strategies, then something began to nag at the edges of his awareness.*
Larok: Trinia bring your medical tricorder here please.
*Taking the tricorder Larok referenced the data base of Trill pathology. Handing the tricorder back to the medic, Trinia started to smile.*
Trinia: Sir you might have something there now if we can just calibrate these shields to this frequency they will should keep the Trill out of here.
Sonak: Larok elaborate.
Larok: Trills symbiont's communicate and interact with their host by bio-electrical means. I suggest we recalibrate the local defense fields to interferer with those signals, at the least this should cause Nero-muscular spasms and maybe even synaptic feed back in the host which should disorient or even stun the Trill. The modifications should not reduce the effect of shields.
Tag Sonak and Rose.
*Larok turned to the defense field controls to start the modifications.*

Fox looked at Logan "I will man the main control room. However i want to add that there's a good chance everything will hold even with the loss of pressure. The maintenance bay is designed to withstand extreme conditions." Byrne nodded. "Alright" he replied shortly. Fox walked to a ladder and climbed up to the controls as both men walked to the shuttle and entered it. "Ready when your." he shouted through the room. "Here goes." one of them called back. The shuttle dropped down to the maintenance bay. As soon as it was gone Fox sealed the room again so Logan and Hendrix could blast their way through the bulkheads.

Crystal was starting to get somewhere with the environmental controls when Larok came up with an idea.
Trill symbionts communicate and interact with their host by bio-electrical means. I suggest we recalibrate the local defense fields to interferer with those signals, at the least this should cause Nero-muscular spasms and maybe even synaptic feed back in the host which should disorient or even stun the Trill. The modifications should not reduce the effect of shields.
Crystal stiffled a yawn as she thought about the suggestion. She had not thought of it herself which worried her a little. It was certainly possible but it would rely on theit attacker walking into a forcefield. She nodded her agreement to the plan and let the marine start the modifications, for all his earlier modesty he seemed to know what he was doing.
Now if she could just work something out that would work as well against the other one...
Crystal continued to work on the environmental controls. Suddenly she noticed one of the shuttle bay circuits had become active she stared at it for a moment and then called the others over.
She touched the circuit as she spoke although she guessed it probably wouldn't mean a lot to them "One of the shuttle bays has just decompressed. Someone must be down there."

Tiberian came around slowly, and groaned as he looked around the darkly lit room. It took a minute for his eyes to adjust to the light once again, but soon everything was back in focus. He looked up to see Katie standing over him, with Alice at her side, and Byrne and Gox talking a few metres away. He was annoyed that D'Angelo was not stood over him, as he had hoped to return his earlier favour, but no matter. He sat bolt upright, ignoring Katie's pressing hands which were trying to force him to lie down again, and picked up a microsuturing device. Amidst aghast looks from D'Angelo, He began to suture his trouser leg back together, until the material was whole once again.
"Oh don't look so shocked doctor" he chided as he finished off his trousers and moved on to his tunic "Relax and bend the rules a little, trust me you'll live longer" He finished his work and stood.
"Ok then gentlemen, it would appear you have more of a plan than I do. Commander's Byrne and Fox, if you would please get a shuttlecraft out of here, and hook it up to the external power ports. If you tap in your warp core, it should power up the station temporarily, long enough to catch the Sivoan and send out a distress call. Take everyone with you, except for Doctor D'Angelo, Sergeant Major Martinez, Ensign Sloan and myself, we'll have something else to do. Commander Fox, I'll advise you to barricade yourself in the control room, we'll try and draw the creature away. Good luck"
All of the crew departed, with Katie and Alice giving Tiberian and D'Angelo forlorn backwards glances as they left under the protection of the miscellaneous crewmen. Martinez tapped Tiberian on the shoulder, distracting him from his thoughts.
"So what exactly are we going to do?" He asked, as Tiberian stripped off his tunic, pulling his equipment vest on over his green marine issue t-shirt.
"We're going hunting" Tiberian said, a mad glint in his eye.
"Oh great" Martinez said as he retrieved his pack and rifle "And here was me thinking we were going to be in danger"
Tiberian smiled and withdrew a tricorder from earlier.
"I got this scan of the creature a little while ago. Now I'm no anthropologist, but even I know that this sort of neuroelectric activity is, strictly speaking, impossible in any known life form. As such, I think it is everyone's benefit if we catch this thing and fast"
He saw the sceptical looks on the crews faces.
"Look" he replied sighing "That thing has been hit, shot, had flashbangs go off in it's face and it's still moving. As such, conventional tactics aren't working. Doctor, I need you to use these scans to create some sort of tranquiliser or paralytic, anything to slow it down. Ensign, I need you to work on what we're got to make some sort of containment field or trap. There's an engineering kit about, and a couple of bits and pieces. Just do your best. Any questions?"

"My medical knowledge is very patchy and mostly biochemistry. What level of oxygen concentration are we trying to achieve?"
"Below thirty percent of total oxygen mix," the Vulcan answered as she settled on the floor, against one of the consoles. She sat with her eyes closed, trying to relax while still listen to the discussion around her.
"I'll try to get the main rewiring done while you rest and then you can keep an eye on the actual oxygen reduction."
"That is a deal," Sonak answered, just when Larok offered an idea of his own. She listenend to Rose and Larok's discussion, while beside her An whispered something about marines and scientists. "Do not worry ensign," she reassured him, "Fox is just as bad as she is. And Fox has command experience. Larok is an old Vulcan, in years that is and that makes him a wise man. His suggestion is not a bad one."
She nodded towards Larok. "See to it," she ordered, "but make sure his symbiont will not be harmed. As long as the charges do not disrupt his isoboramine levels I am authorising any idea you have. We do not know what is possessing them, and they may be out to kill us, but we will NOT try to kill them. Understood?"
Her rant was interrupted by Rose. "One of the shuttle bays has just decompressed. Someone must be down there."
"Possible," Sonak answered as she rose to her feet and joined Olympia's science officer at the console. "There could be a number of things causing this," she offered, "malfunctioning worker bee, negligence in maintenance causing a bulkhead to collapse, or indeed, there is someone down there. To me, it seems rather convenient, and I feel it is a trap. What do you think?"

Manning the Talon Class Scout shuttle, Logan assumed the pilot position, while Lt. Hendrix locked into weapons seat in the aft. Punching in the coordinates to the lower power relay towers, Hendrix fired his first volley through the station wall. As it blew away, the station shook as the parts and machines in the room were thrown across the opening.
Easing out, Byrne used the sensors aboard the shuttle and his quadcorder to document the location of the ships within the Starbase and all of the damage to the structure from the alien attack.
Charging the shields, Logan piloted the shuttle into a low position below the Primary Hull of the Vesuvius-A. Using the transporter array, he was able to lock onto a secondary power generator from the Arboretum. Securing it down, he and Hendrix set course for the docking port under the fusion assembly.
Docking, Logan transported the unit into a position near the Secondary Control Center. Knowing that the main docking systems were off-line, Logan manually docked the upper docking port and instructed Lt. Hendrix to don an EVA suit, in the case that his idea backfired and that the Lt. would have to eject the ship.
Grabbing a breathing apparatus from the fore cargo storage, Logan locked the transporters onto the locking mechanism of the docking bay door and transported it onto the floor behind him. As the rush of atmosphere came into the cabin, Logan launched himself through the airlock only to come face to face with floating bodies, as a result of the primary system environmental failure.
Activating his gravity shoes, he aided Lt. Hendrix up into the room. Linking the environmental system to the shuttle, he was able to restore a breathing atmosphere the room. Navigating past the bodies, he fed the cables from the secondary power generator into the gravity control.
Ignoring the thumps as the bodies hit the floor, Byrne proceeded in launching a plasma charge into the fusion reactor. As a blip of the power reaction started, he was able to send a message to the CEO of the Olympia,<TAG> to know if the power was reaching the upper levels above them.

Within minutes, Tan realized that if the power was going to last twenty nine hours, then twenty nine it was, and they needed to do something about it ..
Getting up, he checked the Captain .. The tricorder wasn't set up for medical parameters, but it sufficed to ensure Tan that he was OK, just resting .. David would double-check the connections then wake Steven, but as he moved toward one of the consoles, his ear-piece chirped ...
=^= INTRUDER ALERT .. INTRUDER ALERT =^=
Tan was confused for a second, then realized that it was the Olympia and not Bellicose that had an intruder .. Ripping the ear-piece out, he smacked the Comms badge on his chest ..
=^= Olympia .. Report intruder status .. Identify =^= he said, frowning.
=^= Unknown .. Intruder is currently in Engineering .. Now attempting to access the communications and life support systems =^=
=^= Lock all systems .. Authorization Tan-Alpha-Two-Two-Theta =^=
=^= Systems locked .. Intruder is now accessing warp core =^=
=^= Lock ALL Command systems .. Initiate intruder protocols .. Seal ALL interior bulk-heads =^=
=^= Authorization required =^=
=^= Tan-Alpha-Two-Two-Theta =^= David repeated, frustrated at the computer's inability to preempt the intruder ..
=^= Bulk-heads sealed .. Intruder remains in Engineering .. Systems damage is being detected from several stations =^=
'Hell, the Alien is somehow trying to destroy the Olympia, or at least make her incapable of helping Bellicose' Tan thought, looking back at the still sleeping Smith .. Shaking the Captain, trying to wake him, Tan had a thought ..
=^= Computer .. Flood Engineering with Anesthizine and Neurozine .. Concentration .. Seven hundred parts per million =^=
=^= CAUTION .. Dosage is ten times required dosage to incapacitate Humanoid life =^=
Tan didn't hesitate ...
=^= Initiate previous order .. NOW ! =^=
The Captain was coming round fast .. He listened to the conversation his Chief Operations Officer was having, apparently with his ships' computer, but did not interrupt him ..
=^= Alien life-form incapacitated .. Flushing Engineering department with Oxygen =^=
=^= NEGATIVE ! .. Sustain a level of .. Fifty parts per million Neurozine =^= David ordered, desperate to prevent the Alien from regaining conciousness, and the ability to hurt the ship more ..
=^= Confirmed =^= the ship replied ..
"David .. Bring me up to date .." the Captain said, taking the hypo and injecting a measured dose of stimulant into his left arm ..
Tan relayed what had happened, and the fact they now had a captured Alien in Olympia's Engineering section .. The Neurozine would, should, keep it unconscious indefinitely ..
"We need to get back to the Olympia." Steven said, looking round for his pack ..
Tan also retrieved his equipment, and both headed for the doors ..........

Sloan had none. He didn't feel comfortable with open combat, but if Wong wanted him to devise some sort of trap, Sloan knew he had some tricks. The Ensign took stock of what he had while the doctor examined the tricroder and Tiberian inspected his phaser. The engineering kit contained it's usual provisions, including plasma torch, various phase discrimators, numerous isolinear diagnostic and repair tools, a spare tricorder, and a few odds and ends. Sloan himself had his communications badge, phaser, tricroder, and uniform. Considering the situation, the phaser was not to be canibalized. For the sake of propriety, he'd stick with the uniform too.
Suddenly, and idea struck him. Something he remembered from his Starfleet survival manual...yes, it was possible.
"Tiberian," Sam called out. "I think I can tie the power cell from this tricroder into my comms badge. The communications badge has the capability of producing a weak subspace force field. Back in academy, I once saw a demonstration, a way to make a full body "shield" using just a comms badge."
"I remember reading about it during my survival training course."
"Of course. If I can modify my comms badge, I can easily produce a field strong enough and large enough to encapsulate the creature. But we'll need to lure it to a specific spot. I can operate it by remote with my second tricorder."
"get on it," Wong said.
"Doctor," Sloan said. The doctor looked up from the tricroder. "This might be a dead end idea, but if you can develope a suitable sedative, I might have a delivery method."
"Such as?"
"We obviously don't want to get cozy with this thing. But if I did trap it in a confined space, would a direct phaser shot to a hypospray vaporize the sedative effectively? I mean, could the confined cloud of vapour knock out the creature?"

Crystal thought for a moment. "From what we've observed so far: these possessed people have being displaying hunting behaviour, picking off one member of a group at a time and running if out numbered or the 'prey' fights back." Crystal was heading towards lecture mode now but she was tired enough that talking her thoughts out so that everyone else had a chance to pick holes in them was a good idea. "So far we had no evidence of trap making behaviour. It's all been opportunistic rather than preplanned. I admit I don't like it either."

"I just wish I had more to go on but most of the internal sensors have been fried." Crystal looked at the force field controls and then back at environmental control.
"The only way we can find out what's happening down there is to go down there." Crystal spoke calmly although she was really anything but. "I think I can set the shield mods to trip remotely as we move but I can't guarantee they'll keep everything out. As for the hypoxia idea, I can implement that before we go and leave us a normal O2 pathway."
An and Larok exchanged looks that said they weren't entirely happy leaving this refuge but Sonak seemed intrigued.
The group eventually left the computer core in a slow single file, Crystal found herself wedged with the Commodore in the middle of the group, a position that she was quite used to although as usual it meant she could see very little of the way ahead. The Marines and An were scanning everywhere with phasers while Crystal's attention was mostly on her tricorder screen. It was quite strange walking through the silent station.
The forcefields were up but as she hadn't been able to get a reading on their attacker she had no idea whether they were working or not.
Suddenly the group paused. Crystal got a look round the hallway, it was quite open so probably not the best placce to stop but leaning against one of walls was an unconcious figure. At least Crystal hoped he was unconcious... She turned her tricorder in his direction and was relieved to see that he was alive.
Sonak ran over to the unconcious man quichly followed by Larok. Crystal moved so she wasn't in the middle of the open hallway any more and struggled to put a name to the face, she knew he'd been at dinner but that was forever ago.

Using the shuttle computer to complete a connection with the Vesuvius-A. Programming the Main deflector array to create a stream of static charges, he used the targeting sensors the focus the energy to the tips of the spires of the Main Fusion Assembly to re-power the station.
Linking into the ventral sensor arrays, Logan tried to amplify the Doppler effect of his quad-corder to assist in the tracking the assassin with-in the Star base. Thus buying them some time to activate the power generator.
Activating the power generator, Hendrix followed the start-up sequence. As it reached 67%, an alarm beacon activated on Logan's comm badge. "Sloan, we have reached a maximum overload in the EPS matrix connected to the Main Base Fusion Reactors. I am re-routing the power to the docking ring. Hopefully, whoever is still up there can get the access to the Olympia. Would be great to have the capabilities of a starship at hand. Byrne out."
Locking the generator down, Logan installed a plasma forcefield around the console to keep anything or anyone for tampering with it, or at least till he and Hendrix got back up topside. Securing the hatch, Byrne initiated a site to site transport back to the shuttle for the both of them, as the room decompressed as the shuttle pulled away. Backing of softly to not impact with the deceased crew members floating through the airlock.
"Lt., we need to navigate back up to the inner ring and check the power readings and resume power to the main areas where the crew are still located. If we can get the systems up and running, we may have a small chance to rescue the remaining crew on that station. And once we get near the area where Commander Fox is located, try to contact him via any active panel and let him know our status."

Sonak still thought it was a bad idea to leave the safety of the computer control room, but Rose did have a point. There was no way of knowing whether the bay decompressing was a trap, it could also be someone found a way to leave the station and go for outside help. So, the group headed for the shuttlebays, a few decks down. "Reckus to Tan," she quietly called, after tapping her combadge, though the comlink was still open. "We are headed for the shuttlebay. In the mean time, I want you and Smith to see if you can get into your ship's command protocol and have your ship link with mine, so that we might contact our missing crewmen and women."
She thought of her poor doctor, wondering if he was having a fit yet and her first officer, who no doubt wanted to tear the station apart in order to find the problem. "And I want your input on creating a communication's array. Is it possible to split our ships into the separate modules, bring them in syncronous orbit and have them create a network around the station?"
The Vulcan woman nearly collided with Rose when the science officer suddenly stopped walking and pulled out her tricorder. She followed Rose's gaze and too, saw a slumped figure against the bulkhead. She beckoned Larok's combat medic and together they rushed forward. The figure was an unconscious Vulcan male, who externally seemed unharmed. "Tovan, wake up," Sonak insisted, nudging her navigations officer. "Lieutenant Commander Tovan, I order you to get up, right now," she changed tactics when he didn't respond.
Surprisingly, the young man stirred, but remained where he was. "Look after him," she ordered the combat medic, then joined Rose a few meters ahead. "How far until the shuttlebay?" she asked.

"Ah. yes. more destruction is exactly what we need." Marco said unamused and unenthusiastically. It was more to spite Wong than to change his mind. The plan actually had merit- not that Marco would ever admit it.
"I'll get on it. Of course, I'll need use of a replicator." There was one behind them. "And an energy source of some sort." He eyed the Colonel's phaser. "That would be more than enough. I'm sure the engineer here could reroute the powerful pulses to be a uniform flow of energy for the replicator." He hoped that Sloan could. It would make his job easier, and take away something that Wong cherished deeply. His weapon. It was two goods for the price of one, as far as Marco was concerned.
Sloan had an alternate idea. Marco and Katie entertained it.
:I actually like this idea better." Katie said. "We will still have to come up with a paralyzing agent, but now we don't have to worry about how we are going to administer it."
"You're the boss." Doctor D'Angelo replied. Exactly who was the boss, among the mixed crew of officers, was unclear. In terms of doctors, that is. Wong clearly assumed the role of being in charge, and so far only Marco had challenged it. That was awhile back now, and his jaw was still in pain from the response.
"I'll get replicating over here. Luckily, on the USS Vesuvius, I used a replicator as a protein synthesizer." The only problem was that this time, he wasn't curing someone, he was creating something to harm someone.

He was crouched above them, watching as they moved further and further away from their previous safe haven. Now they were in the open, and on his terms, and now he could hunt. He stalked them from above, watching and waiting as they moved towards a stricken crewman, lying unconscious on the floor. He had listened to them as they had moved, and he knw they were heading for the shuttle bay. That too was his destination, aiming to get the chest off the station and to a population centre. What he needed to achieve this was one of the women from below, one who could get him there and work the mechanisms. The human would be better, she was not as fiercely guarded as the other, and worked more with the machines. She would be the one that he took.
He slunk away from his pursuit of the group, moving down a control junction. He smashed a panel from the wall, and began removing circuits, tearing at all parts of the console. Finally he found the piece he had been looking for. One missing isolinear chip, and all the artificial gravity in that section vanished. He pulled himself back to his previous position through the bulkheads, as if swimming through the air. Then, once having looked through the grate to see the state of unpreparedness of all the floating crewmen, he punched through and swam downwards. Grabbing the human female, he yanked her back through the hole, cackling manically as her crewmates floated, useless. He pulled her struggling figure though the vents, until eventually they thumped down on to the solid metal surface, having entered an area of restored gravity. He straddled the woman, pinning her arms over her head as he growled.
"You will get me to the shuttlebay. You will restore transporter power, and you will help me to escape. If you do not, I will take a perverse amount of pleasure in killing you"

One moment Crystal was standing in the hallway talking to Sonak and hoping that Tovan would be all right then the gravity went out and she found herself hanging in midair trying to remember her rather rusty zero-g training.
Then a pair of hands clamped on to her and dragged her upwards she knew instantly that these hands were not friendly and struggled as well as she was able in the confined space of the duct but the Trill that held her was to strong for her to be able to escape.
Then she thumped into the deck as they hit an where the gravity was still on. She found herself pinned to the deck by the Trill sitting across her. He forced her hands over her head and pinned her wrists down as well. Crystal was scared, actually she was beyond scared. The small part of her mind that hadn't frozen in abject terror was simply gratefull that he wasn't as heavy as her XO who had flattened her to the deck a couple of times last mission (admittedly under rather different circumstances).
"You will get me to the shuttlebay. You will restore transporter power, and you will help me to escape. If you do not, I will take a perverse amount of pleasure in killing you" The voice was harsh and cold and the eyes were simply wrong. If Crystal hadn't all ready been scared almost witless then that message would have been enough to do it. She swallowed hard, or at least tried to, her throat was dry.
"I don't know that I can." Crystal replied honestly. She didn't know why she said that but she couldn't think coherently. He back handed her across the face. She saw stars for a second and then the red tinted eyes in front of her swam back into focus. He repeated his message.
"There is a lot of damage to this station and I am no expert with transporters. I'll do my best but I can't promise anything." Crystal was surprised that her voice was so flat. She sounded breathless but that was hardly a surprise.
He growled again but seemed to accept that this was an honest answer. He took his weight off Crystal and allowed her to climb to her knees. She knew she wouldn't win a straight fight with this posessed killer but she wasn't going to give up. She kept her hands low and did her best to look non-threating and scared (not that the latter was pretend). She knew he could have killed her but for now he wanted her alive.
She slowly crawled in the indicated direction, mentally trying to hold herself together by doing an inventory of her current condition. Her cheek was sore where he had hit her and she could taste blood. Her tricorder had disappeared in the stuggle but her bag of bits and pieces was still slung across her body and her comm badge was still in place (not that anyone was likely to be able to track it at the moment). She tried to remember what was in that bag as they moved forward, there was spare cabling and isoliner chips and various other bits and pieces. Hopefully she could think of something useful to do.

While she was checking on Tovan, Sonak felt herself lose contact with the deck. Startled, she looked around and saw all of them were starting to float. "Larok!" she called, grabbing the marine by his arm, spinning him around to face her. "Get gravity back online, or get one of your marine engineers to see to it!"
She pressed the still unconscious Tovan against the bulkhead, though she wasn't having much luck as she had no leverage to apply the pressure from. "Crystal!" There was no response. "Commander Rose, respond!"
"Ma'am?" That was An, who tugged her arm. "Miss Rose is no longer in our company. I last saw her float towards that duct, but I thought nothing suspect of it."
The Vulcan woman sighed in annoyance. "Take two of the marines and follow her," she ordered. "Larok, we are continuing our route to the shuttlebay. An, meet us back there as soon as possible." She slung Tovan's body across her shoulders, wincing as the phaserburn smarted again.
"Commander Tan, if you are reading me, we lost Commander Rose. Ensign An and Corporals Lance and Driver are tracking her. We are continuing to the shuttlebays. Did you have a chance to think about my suggestion, using the ships as a network?"

Tiberian mulled over the usggestions of both crewmembers as they went to work, slowly formulating a plan. Finally he clicked his fingers and began examining his own phaser rifle muzzle.
"Doctor, can you make that protein resistant to a lot of heat. Say roughly the heat of a beam of charged nadions"
<TAG D'Angelo>
"The reason I ask, is I think I've invented our delivery system. If I can do what Ensign Sloan suggested and attach the chemical to the muzzle of my phaser rifle, the discharge will vapourise it. The particle can then carry it to the creature. The heat will cause porous dilation, increasing the rate of absorbtion, and, if you make it strong enough, knock the creature out faster. Do whatever you need to, but make it happen"
<TAG D'Angelo>
Leaving the doctor and Katie under the watchful eye of Martinez, Tiberian moved over to where Sloan was tinkering.
"Ensign, if we want to immobilise this creature whilst it is contained, the i'll need you to make the field one way permeable. That way, we can hold it inside, and shoot it from the outside. Can you manage it"
<TAG Sloan>
He moved away from the ensign to Maritnez, who leaned against a wall, phaser rifle at the ready. Tiberian moved to lean next to him.
"Well at least we have a plan if nothing else" Tiberian mused.
"Forgive me, but you and plans seldom have the inclination to get along with each other" Martinez jibed as Tiberian shot him a dark look from the corner of his eye.
"Look Jose, we've got a plan of how to get the creature. Now all we have to do is draw it out into the open"
"Well bait would be the obvious idea, but where to get any?"
Both officers thought for a moment, then stared wide eyed at each other, smiling. Both then turned to stare wide eyed and smiling at D'Angelo.

The journey back to the Olympia was uneventful .. Though David was becoming increasingly worried about his Captain. He had almost passed-out on numerous occasions .. It was obvious that surgery was going to be needed, and sooner rather than later .. As the two Officers reached the air-lock access to the ship, Tan double-checked the Alien's status ..
Tapping his Comms badge, he spoke to the ship herself ..
=^= Computer .. Status of Alien life-form =^=
=^= There are no Alien life-forms currently on the Olympia =^=
"What the hell is that compu ......" Steven began, but slumped to the floor, almost unconscious ..
=^= Who is currently in the Olympia's Engineering section =^= David asked, watching Smith closely.
=^= Records confirm that Lieutenant Commander Efnoor is in Engineering .. She is using site to site transport at this time =^=
=^= Over-ride transporter functions ! =^= Tan said.
=^= Unable to comply .. Commander Efnoor has re-materialized .. The transport co-ordinates are twenty five meters outside the exterior bulkhead of Star base Bellicose =^=
It didn't take a genius to realize that the woman had just committed suicide .. For whatever reason, she 'chose' to beam herself into space, or was so confused, she got ... No, the transporter wouldn't allow someone to intentionally beam into space, she had to over-ride the safeties for that ...
=^= Commander Tan .. Sonak .. If you are reading me .. We lost Commander Rose .. Ensign An and Corporals Lance and Driver are tracking her .. We are continuing to the shuttle-bays .. Did you have a chance to think about my suggestion of using the ships as a network ? =^=
=^= It's possible yes Commodore .. I need to inform you that Captain Smith is unwell .. I think he needs to be seen by a Doctor as soon as possible .. He is in and out of consciousness and i am weary of treating him myself =^= Tan said, looking over at his Commanding Officer slumped against the bulkhead ..
=^= We will get a medical team to you as soon as possible Commander .. But we need to implement the discussion we had earlier .. Are you in a position to separate the Olympia =^=
David looked at his CO, it was obvious that Commodore Sonak was awaiting Tans decision .. So, in the absence of the Olympia's Exec', he agreed ..
=^= I will begin separation as soon as I set upa Comm link to the Vesuvius =^=
=^= Use the pre-arranged code Commander =^=
He asked the Olympia's computer to link with her counterpart on the Vesuvius .. Within seconds the link was established ...
=^= Commander Tan .. Authorization-Alpha-Two-Two-Theta .. Standby for ship separation .. The Olympia and Vesuvius will separate and establish equidistant positions around Bellicose =^=
=^= Authorization can only be confirmed by Commodore Sonak Reckus =^= said the Vesuvius computer.
=^= Authorization confirmed .. Access log Beta-Tan-Sonak-Six-Six =^=
He waited patiently as the pre-arranged code took effect. The two Star ships re-configured .. Separating into their component parts and establishing a six-point star, equidistant on the radius around the 'base ...
It took less than four minutes to make the separations complete .. The Olympia's computer, currently in overall control of both ship's and their individual sections, informed Tan they were in place ..........

Crystal hadn't been moving long when she reached a junction in the ducting. She picked a horizontal direction at random and moved on. She hadn't gone very far when her ankle was caught and she was yanked backwards. As she struggled to turn in the narrow duct she slipped her comm badge into one hand. As she was prodded forward again she popped the badge open and waited for a moment.
Her spirits lifted as she heard noises in the ducting as far she could tell they were getting closer but the echos made it hard to tell. She stopped and turned to look back, she received a blow across the leg for her trouble but it was too late to stop her seeing a flash of movement in the corridor.
She guessed her captor probably knew they were there as well but he gave no sign of it as he drove her onwards. Suddenly there was a phaser shot, Crystal dropped flat to deck as the first bolt flew over her head. She felt her self grabbed and pulled round. To her shock she realised that she was now between An and the Trill holding her. She jammed her thumb into the back of her comm badge shorting out the speaker and sending out an earspliting shriek. She held the comm badge as close as she could to the Trills ear which was awkward as he was pinning her other arm behind her back.
With a shriek that out volumed even her comm badge he lashed out scrambling past Crystal and catching her hard across the face and sending her sliding down the duct until her head caught the wall.
By the time Crystal had shaken the non astronomical stars out of her vision An and one of the marines were pointing their phasers up a vertical duct. Apparently that was where the Trill had escaped to.
An let out an audible sigh and then he Crystal and the two marines picked their way back through the ducts to an access point near where they had come in. Crystal dropped back into the corridor with a lot of relief. Her head whirled when her feet hit the deck but she stayed on her feet somehow.
It did not take them long to catch up with Sonak, Tovan and Larok. If someone had told Crystal while she was on her exchange trip that one day she would be very relieved to be surrounded by Vulcans she would have said they were crazy but then again these weren't typical Vulcans as indicated by the Commodore's expression when she saw them.
Crystal fought down some nausea and hoped the shuttle bays weren't too much further.

"And once we get near the area where Commander Fox is located, try to contact him via any active panel and let him know our status. After the room had been sealed again Fox heard the shuttle blasting through the bulkheads. {I hope they will succeed.} he thought. He walked over to the door of the room he was in and checked if it was closed and locked. {Don't want our attacker with me in here.} he thought. It seemed locked and he walked to a chair and he sat down in it. All he could do now is wait for Byrne and Hendrix to complete their little mission and get power back. While he sat there he thought at all the things that happend. About their attackers, who or what it could be. Suddenly the panel near him came 'alive'. {Must be Byrne's work} he thought and looked at it. A second later a message appeared on it showing the status of the little shuttle mission. {Looks like they have succeeded so far.} he thought and pressed a few buttons on his panel. He looked at the readings and saw gravity had been restored in the corridors. Some other systems were coming online as well, tho internal sensors were offline still. "Lets see if communications has been restored." Fox said to himself and tabbed his comm-badge. It gave a soft bleeping sound and went silent again.
