Nika walked onto her bridge for the first time since the repairs had finished, and was gratified to see an orderly bridge, rather than the mess of consoles and engineers trying to fix things she had last seen. The Victory had been fixed up, and tested to be sure the repairs had been complete. For a change, the ship was leaving in no great hurry.
Their mission was to tour some of the quadrant's more interesting space phenomenons and insure the equipment that had been set out to monitor those phenomenons was working properly. It was hardly the most interesting of missions, but it had a good balance of both being necessary and there not being any particular hurry in which it was done.
Nika tapped her commbadge, giving the latest reminder to the crew, who were hopefully off Assailant by now. If not, then they should be hurrying, since the Victory was leaving in just a few hours. =/\=Nika to all crew, we leave at 14:00 hours. =/\=
She verified the ship was where it had to be in order to be ready to leave on time. Then she sent a brief description of the mission, if it even qualified as one, to the senior staff. She didn't think the mission was complex enough to require a senior staff meeting at this point. Instead she'd let her officers, two of whom were brand-new, a chance to ease into life on the Victory. That was the plan, anyway.
Handing the bridge off to Nack, Nika headed into her ready room. Unfortunately there couldn't be any easing back for her, not into paperwork. Oh well. There really wasn't that much of it, just enough to keep her busy and add another reason to why having the Victory attacked was a bad idea.

Joan was glad to be back aboard a starship and looked forward to the mission. She had a padd in her hand showing the ship blueprints since she didn't want to get lost the first day. She remembered where her quarters were and was glad she had asked before she had set foot on the Victory.
The teen made her way to her quarters and left her duffle on the bed knowing she had other things to do before she could unpack. ~This is going to be fun, but it sure isn't going to be easy. Maybe I shouldn't have been so eager to get off of Conqueror.~ the youth thought remembering her duties back on the starbase realizing they were only slightly easier on the ship. She headed off to sickbay wanting to view her new office and where she would be working as well as who she would be working with.
Once Joan set foot in sickbay a nurse walked up to her. "Ailment or injury?" the nurse asked and the teen informed the nurse she wasn't hurt or sick.
"Then get out of sickbay. This is no place to play child," the nurse said not paying any attention to Joan's uniform or rank.
"For your information, nurse, I happen to be the new Cheif Medic aboard this boat, and I would hope you pay more attention to those you treat than you just did to me," the youth said and saw the shocked look on the nurse who snapped to attention immediately after realizing this was his superior officer. She smile and tried to make a better impression walking away and toward the new office informing the staff she would be in her office if anyone needed her.
Joan was a little upset when she saw the number of padds stacked haphazzardly onto her new desk. She saw that things had fallen to pieces medically with just the hologram to look after everyone's health. ~Geeze, they must have turned him on only when there was an emergency and he was needed. The nurses probably put those padds there and not cared much about why they were there or what would happen to them afterwards.~ She thought, sighed, and sat down behind the desk. The teen could barely be seen behind the stack of padds and she took one from the top not bothering to take a seat knowing she would have to sort through this stack and organize it before she could even sit down.
About twenty minutes later the mission brief came through, she read it quickly and quietly before returning to the task in front of her. She noticed it had been a long while since the crew had to deal with physicals, and Joan groaned knowing that she also hadn't had one in quite awhile. ~Well, thank goodness I never got sick. I wonder how hard its going to be to get the crew down here for a physical.~ She thought and decided maybe she should start with the Operations Officer before trying the captain.
=^=Doctor McCormick to Commander Matthew, report to sickbay.=^=
The youth hoped she wouldn’t have to fight him on this as she started in on updating files based on the padds in front of her.

Russell had been wondering when he might get informed of a mission when the briefing came though on his Padd with two other confidential files, wondering what the mission had in store for him he quickly opened the briefing file and read though what he needed, which was nothing. ‘Where is a conference when you need one’ Russell thought as he noted this mission was a dull science only one, nothing that would need him at all. Quickly moving on to the first file that had arrived it turned out to be the transfers onto the ship and their records for him to read though, hoping the final file would be more interesting he opened it but did not hold out much hope ‘well it will give me time to sort out evaluations before we have a more serious mission’. As Russell read the file he felt his mouth drop at who it was from and what it said, he was starting to get use to orders from his captain, but now he had one from an admiral that made him edgy, Russell put the Padd down and moved over to the consol hoping the messages that had built up would cheer him up.
After listening to most of the messages, including one for a conference in a few months for counsellors and ambassadors whcih he thought he might want to attend if he could get the time off. Russell choose to leave his office to check in with sickbay as he had promised. As Russell entered he noted a male nurse looking quite sheepishly at his uniform before he said anything "Ailment or injury?" Russell was quick to reply that he was back for his check up, and he might as well put up with a physical while he was here. The nurse pointed him in the direction of the chief’s office where he spotted a very young woman looking though the Padds that were on the desk. Walking in he noted her rank and realised why the nurse had been checking his rank so carefully. “Commander McCormick I assume, I am Lieutenant Russell Davis the ships counsellor. I see you have your work cut out for you to catch up with the paper work that has built up” Indicating the piles of Padds that she seemed to have sorted though.

“well I am here for a check up to make sure I have had no lasting effects from a head injury I received last mission, and I might as well submit to a physical while I am at it just to get it over with” smiling to show he did not mean it nastily.

<Yahnie’s Quarters>
Yahnie was in his quarters and just awoke and went to the replicator and asked for a cup of hot tea. Yahnie had gotten out his duty uniform and after he drank his tea he got into the shower after his shower he got ready for his shift. Yahnie thought to himself ~ The Victory had a bad inspection and that if he could help it his department will not be caught again with any bad marks. Well enough on dwelling on the inspection. ~ Yahnie got dress and headed for the bridge to see what the next mission was going to be. AS he got on the turbo lift an announcement came over his intercom =/\=Nika to all crew, we leave at 14:00 hours. =/\= <Main Bridge>
Yahnie stepped off the turbo lift and saw that the bridge was ready for departure and that the Captain was in her ready room. Yahnie went over to the First officer and greeted him saying that he was ready for the mission and asked the first officer where the Captain was? Commander Nack said the “Captain is in her ready room.” Yahnie went over to the entrance of the ready room and chimed the bell. “Enter” the Captain had said.
<Captain’s Ready Room>
Yahnie entered the Captain’s ready room where the Captain was looking at her computer screen. “Captain, Lieutenant Commander Youngblood reporting for duty.” “Captain if I may speak freely, I know the Victory had a bad inspection and I would like to know what my department can do to be ready for the next one? Is there any I can do before we get on the way for the next mission?”

Joan was busy whittling away at the task in front of her, updating the records of the crew and getting physicals going. She wasn’t surprised to see someone she didn’t know until he introduced himself making her aware this wasn’t who she asked for. She smiled pleasantly trying to show she wasn’t shocked.
“Hello Lieutenant, I am Doctor McCormick. What brings you to sickbay?” she said waiting for a response which came quickly making her smile a little more at his honesty.
“Well then lets go see what we can find, hopefully nothing that needs any acupuncture,” she said teasing him a little knowing that kind of medicine wasn’t used any more. She saw his face and chuckled.
“Relax, that kind of medicine is way outdated, but we could try it if you are interested,” she said still laughing.
(Russell)
“I see, well then maybe we should just check up on that old injury from last mission and run a physical. I just called an officer down here to start physicals, but he isn’t here yet so you get to be the guinea pig,” she responded still smiling. He seemed really nice, and she always liked making new friends.
Joan started the scan and noticed what was done to correct his head injury. She noticed he seemed a little tense as she continued to scan hoping to get the physical done as quickly and painlessly as possible.
“I don’t do massages, so you’ll just have to try to relax on your own. I don’t bite,” she said and winked before returning to her tricorder. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
“Any headaches, pains or other injuries I should know about? Do you have any allergies, or anything of the like?” she said hoping that these weren’t annoying questions. She had many, and hadn’t really had time to read up on the crew’s medical records yet.
(Russell)
Suddenly Commander Matthew showed up ready for his physical.
“Well thank you, Lieutenant, I have the information I need for the physical. You are healthy, and any damage you sustained in your last mission seems to have repaired itself. The medical hologram also seems to have helped you. I look forward to meeting later. If you need anything from me, please don’t hesitate to ask,” she said knowing that if she was running physicals then she might have to go through an evaluation from the counselor.
(Russell)
“Okay, soon then. First I need to get to the Commander’s physical,” she said and allowing Lieutenant Davis to get off the biobed. Once he was standing she smiled and patted the biobed for Commander Matthew.
“Hello, don’t worry this won’t hurt one bit,” she said realizing this was the first meeting between them. She picked up the tricorder and started to scan him.
“Sir, have you experienced any headaches or any other aches or pains I should know about? Do you have any allergies or the like?” she said as she started to move the tricorder toward his neck and down. He seemed like a serious man so she didn’t say anything to get him to relax or smile.
(Matthew)
“I see, well that should be looked at. I will get to that area in a moment. Is there anything else?” she asked watching her tricorder and not the Commander’s reactions. She made it to the indicated area in no time and found what he had. She continued to smile hoping to appear a little friendly.
“Aha,” she said realizing exactly what was causing his discomfort. She hoped to have time to read up on all the medical records soon enough, and had a thought on how she could do it quicker.
Joan asked a nurse for a hypospray and pressed it to the Commander’s neck when it was handed to her.
“That should help you with that, sir,” she said not realizing she hadn’t told him what was causing his distress. It took another couple of minutes before she was done.
“There you go, sir, you are in excellent condition. Thank you for stopping by so quickly,” she said remembering what she had said to the Lieutenant earlier. She smiled thinking that surprising him would be good. She watched Commander Matthew leave.
(Matthew)
“Nurse, I am leaving sickbay if you need me don’t hesitate to call,” the youth said and walked out of sickbay. The walk to the counselor’s office didn’t take long at all, and she chimed when she reached his office door. She heard him say to enter, and she did so promptly.
“Hello again, thought maybe this time I would drop in on you. How shall we begin?” she said and stood there not sure what was going to happen next. It had been quite awhile since her last evaluation, and she realized it had been when she was a cadet in training. I just hope he doesn’t ask about that. What a mission. The teen thought and smiled.

“Any headaches, pains or other injuries I should know about? Do you have any allergies, or anything of the like?” Russell thought for a second before replying “Nothing and none” a simple and to the point reply, Russell hoped there would be nothing wrong. “Well thank you, Lieutenant, I have the information I need for the physical. You are healthy, and any damage you sustained in your last mission seems to have repaired itself. The medical hologram also seems to have helped you. I look forward to meeting later. If you need anything from me, please don’t hesitate to ask,” “Well now that you mention it, if I remember correctly you are overdue for your evaluation, even more than the captain and that is worrying. If you could pop in soon, we can remedy that” Russell smiled, most officers would say they would and avoid him afterwards. “Okay, soon then. First I need to get to the Commander’s physical,” Russell nodded then left sickbay heading back to his office to re-read though those new orders from Starfleet medical.
Arriving back at his office he quickly picked up the Padd that his messages were stored on, find the admirals letter he re-read this then began to decide how he was going to proceed ‘carefully and maybe with at least 7 armed guards’ Russell chuckled at the thought of needing them for a simple evaluation. Russell picked up another Padd and began to draft a notice for the Captain and XO, but before he could finish Russell heard a chime from his door “Enter” Russell put the Padd quickly into a draw and locked it. “Hello again, thought maybe this time I would drop in on you. How shall we begin?” Russell looked in surprise at the Commander, ‘well this is a first’ “Well Commander take a seat while I find your records.” Russell began looking though the records as Joan took a seat, “Right, I will be asking you some questions, some of which you may feel are personal, rest assured that anything you say here will not be told to any other officer. I will be looking to how you react and any possible answers you give. Do you understand this” Russell hated going though that every time but it was required, when Joan nodded Russell sealed the room door and sat down, “well I see the last time you had an evaluation was during a training mission, would you be able to tell me what the mission was about and how you felt it had gone?”
<Tag Joan>
Russell noted down some notes as she answered, he was suppressed by the mission but not in anything she herself was showing. “Well I can see why you have risen up the ranks so quickly, with training like that. I believe you are adopted by Admiral McCormick, what could you tell me of your relationship with her, is it a good, bad or non-existent?” Russell absolutely hated this question people always felt uptight when you start talking about parents.
<Tag Joan>
Russell continued asking questions for a few minutes before he felt he had enough to go with. “Thank you Commander, I believe I have enough to make a report. I can see nothing wrong with you, other than maybe an overly strong sense of humour, but there is nothing wrong with that.”
<Tag Joan>
“Well that’s my opinion, now you can go about your business, and try not to pull to many ‘pranks’” Russell smiled as he showed her out of his office. As soon as the door shut he returned to his desk and pulled out the Padd he had been working on previously.
TO: Captain Cir’Kem, Commander Nack FROM: Lieutenant Davis RE: Evaluation
I am sorry to be a pain, but I must remind you both that you are overdue a physiological evaluation. I would not normally have mentioned this as it is only overdue by a couple of months but I have received orders directly from star fleet medical to ensure all command rank positions have an evaluation completed within the next 2 weeks.
So I have no choice but to state that you must attend an evaluation sometime in the next 2 weeks when ever it is best for you. Failure to do so may result in you being removed from position.
If you wish to contest this then feel free to make contact with Section Admiral Frances Lex, Head of Star Fleet Medical and the person to with this order has come from.
Once again I would like to apologise about this, I do not like forcing people to attend but orders are orders.
Lieutenant Russell Davis Ships Counsellor
<Tag Captain/Nack>
Russell did not like doing this but he was tied, but he wasn’t going to tell them that these orders had also stated that ‘until such time as completion of this order, both Captain and First Officer should be temporarily removed from position unless the ship is on Yellow Alert or higher’ Russell had chosen to ignore this part of the order, he hoped he would not get in to much trouble for it, but he felt there was nothing wrong with either of them that warranted their removal. Sending the message Russell hoped they would not kill the messenger. Russell then moved on to try to get more officers to attend a evaluation which he doubted will happen but still hitting his comm. badge he spoke "Can all senior staff members please report to my office at their earliest convenience for a evaluation, thank you" Russell doubted this would work but it would have to do. Sitting down he started to read a book that was on his desk.

Tiana had spent most of the day either in her quarters, which she was still attempting to sort out, or in the science labs. She had met most of her staff now and had set a couple of experiments running. That made her really feel as if she belonged here. She had also managed to meet most of the rest of the senior crew although just in passing.
She was sitting at her desk typing a letter to her parents when her comm badge chirped. "Can all senior staff members please report to my office at their earliest convenience for a evaluation, thank you"
Tiana sighed, she had spent far too long speaking to counselors of late. But another chance to see Russell would be most welcome. She tapped her comm badge. =/\=Counselor, if you've managed to wade through my monstrosity of a file, I'm quite happy to stop by now.=/\=
Tag: Russell
A short time later Tiana walked up to Russell's door but not without a degree of trepidation. He welcomed her in and she sat down, uncomfortably aware that she was starting to blush again. Hopefully he wouldn't notice or maybe he would mistake it for nerves or something....
There was silence for a moment. Then Russell spoke.

Commander Youngblood entered while Nika was in her ready-room, to report for duty and ask whether there was anything he could do to improve the Victory's inspection score. “At ease,” Nika told him. Then, to answer his question, “I don't know that I can pinpoint anything specific your department can do, apart from being prepared and insuring that crew and ship records are complete and that all necessary equipment is operational. But I know everyone's going to do their best, and hopefully that will help.”
She paused then, giving him a chance to speak, but he didn't seem to have anything more to add. Nika couldn't tell whether he was disappointed with her answer, or not, but she honestly didn't have that much more she could tell them. Yes, most everyone on the Victory wished the ship could have done better. But it could be hard to find specific things to change. She dismissed Commander Youngblood to return to the rest of his duties, then reentered the bridge, taking command back from Commander Nack.
Then Nika watched as the Victory dropped out of warp and headed her way into a stable orbit of the planet which housed the unusual phenomenon that the Federation deemed worthy of study, in the form of the planet's atmosphere. What the phenomenon was, precisely, Nika wasn't sure. She'd served a short time as Chief Science Officer on the Victory, but she'd given up trying to follow most of the research by the time she was named Captain. She just didn't have enough time to do everything she wanted to do.
=/\=This is Captain Cir'Kem to all senior staff, we have arrived in orbit of our planet.=/\= Automated sensor programs and a few science personnel, some of whom were added to the Victory crew just for this mission, would do the checking, which left most of the Victory crew to their own devices. And apparently that meant physicals.
As she was contemplating whether to risk giving her new Chief Medical Officer a heart attack by dropping in to sickbay uninvited for a sickbay physical, she got a message from the same Commander McCormick. Apparently something had come up that required her precense elsewhere. McCormick was kind of vague as to why she had to go back to serve near her mother, but Nika wouldn't have been too surprised if it had something to do with the Commander’s more...troublesome nature. Not that Nika would ever say that to McCormick's face. Or anyone else's. But, given the courtmartial in her record, Nika had to wonder. Even if that's all it would ever be: random speculation.
Nika gave clearance ahead of time to the shuttle Commander McCormick would be taking back to Assailant, and then to Conqueror. She was sorry to see another medical officer leave, and so soon. She had to wonder whether it was the Captain or the Doctor who was less willing to see a medical physical done.
As she was wondering what to do next, she got a message from Lieutenant Davis, very kindly asking for her to come to his office immediately for a psychological physical. Or at least as kindly as could be possible. Nika had forgotten about counselor's physicals, it'd been so long since the Victory had had a counselor. At least, one who served the counselor's role, since Commander Rylka, her first first officer, had served most of her early career as a counselor.
Oh well. Best to finish this as soon as possible, before something came up. Nika handed the bridge back to Nack, and was a little amused to see that he seemed relieved that this meant he would be unable to visit Lieutenant Davis himself yet. Nika headed down to his office, but she wasn't sure whether there was someone else in there or not, so she simply knocked and waited.

Russell had almost lost hope of anyone listening to his announcement when Tiana’s communication came though =/\=Counselor, if you've managed to wade through my monstrosity of a file, I'm quite happy to stop by now.=/\= Russell picked up Tiana’s file, ‘well Nack’s is worse than this’ =/\=if you give me five minutes to read though the report then I will be ready for you=/\= Russell quickly started to read though Tiana’s report noting down a few questions he would use. Just as Russell finished Tiana walked though the door, “welcome Lieutenant, please seat and we will get started” Russell watched as Tiana became nervous which was to be expected. After waiting for a moment to let her settle in Russell began.
“Ok, I will be asking you some questions, some of which you may feel are personal, rest assured that anything you say here will not be told to any other officer. I will be looking to how you react and any possible answers you give. Do you understand this” Tiana nodded slowly, she was starting to get red, but by her age telling a man things she sees as personal is extremely embarrassing. “Well I see you are fearful of fire, are there any particular reasons for this or does it just happen?” ‘She is going to hate me by the end of this, or hit me one of the two’ Russell had no doubts which he preferred.
<Tag Tiana>
“Well that will explain it, I could help you to over come this fear if you wish, it will be under controlled conditions if you would like to?” this was a bit off what he had planed but he might as well ask. <Tag Tiana> “Ok then, I will make arrangements and send you some times to choose from, right now where was I?” Russell quickly picked up his Padd of questions “I see your older brother died due to his symbiont being removed, are you ok to talk about this, or would you prefer I stay off this topic?”
<Tag Tiana>
Russell continued to ask questions until he felt he had enough to work his report, “ok I believe we are done, I am happy to say that I see no imminent problems, the fear we will start to look at and your are dealing with your brother’s death which is a very good sign and I see no problem with letting you continue to deal with this in your own way” Russell could not place what Tiana was felling at the time, but he was sure asking her for dinner was out of the question but then he never listened to that thought “and ummm, if you’d like we could meet up in Ten Forward to just talk normally, if you want that is?” Russell felt himself go red, ‘oh I hope she doesn’t notice’ <Tag Tiana> “Well I will see you tonight then” Russell collapsed into his chair still quite red when someone knocked on the door, “Enter” as Russell remembered how he red he was, he became worse when the captain walked in. “Hello ma’am, I am sorry I sent that message the way I did, but as I said orders are orders, would you please take a seat we will get started”
Russell had not had a chance to prepare anything for the captain yet so this was going to be interesting. “I will be asking you some questions, some of which you may feel are personal, rest assured that anything you say here will not be told to any other officer. I will be looking to how you react and any possible answers you give. Do you understand this?” Russell felt this bit was unnecessary but it was best to cover common ground first before starting. As Nikaila nodded Russell looked quickly over her lengthy records, “well you have been in command of the Victory for over a year, I am sure you have been though all sorts of missions, could you tell me about you experiences in some of them?”

“Well I see you are fearful of fire, are there any particular reasons for this or does it just happen?” Russell asked.
"I've been scared of fire as long as I can remember. I believe it started when I was very young, I think I remember watching a building burn" Tiana gave a small laugh. "but to be honest I can't remember whether it was real or a holo. All I remember was seeing the fire as this all powerful destructive force. Quite irrational I know but it's still there."
“Well that will explain it, I could help you to over come this fear if you wish, it will be under controlled conditions if you would like to?”
"That would be really kind of you Russell. I know it's a small memory haunting me and I would really like to be rid of it. Thank-you." Tiana was worried that she was being a bit effusive but it was something she wanted to do something about.
“Ok then, I will make arrangements and send you some times to choose from, right now where was I?” Russell quickly picked up his Padd of questions “I see your older brother died due to his symbiont being removed, are you ok to talk about this, or would you prefer I stay off this topic?”
Tiana sighed. "I'm all right to talk about Makal's death." She counted quickly on her fingers. "In fact I think you are the seventh counselor I have spoken to on the subject. It hurts, but it's necessary. Makal was injured but his symbiont, Tao, was more seriously hurt. I don't blame Tao for Makal's death, I certainly don't blame Illani, Tao's new host, but I want to blame someone. It is possible to remove a symbiont without killing the host but Makal was too ill to survive." Tiana gave a small sob. "I am still trying to blame someone, there should have been someway to save both their lives. Makal's memories live on in Tao so that's something. What really hurts is that my other brother, Havan, and I haven't spoken since I decided not to become a host. He's joined as well. He thinks I'm being selfish, says that Makal knew the risks and knew that his life was less important than Tao's..." Tiana looked up at Russell. "But that's not it, what my brother's death showed me was that life is short and so we have to live our dreams now. I couldn't wait any more." She gave another couple of sobs and then a half smile "I miss Makal, and Havan but I'm still talking to my parents and they say he's okay."
Russell continued to ask questions until he felt he had enough to work his report, “ok I believe we are done, I am happy to say that I see no imminent problems, the fear we will start to look at and your are dealing with your brother’s death which is a very good sign and I see no problem with letting you continue to deal with this in your own way” Russell could not place what Tiana was feeling at the time, but he was sure asking her for dinner was out of the question but then he never listened to that thought “and ummm, if you’d like we could meet up in Ten Forward to just talk normally, if you want that is?” Russell felt himself go red, ‘oh I hope she doesn’t notice’
Tiana was shocked, very pleased but shocked. "That'd be really nice"she said. "My shift finished at 18:00 so if we say 18:30. The councellor smiled.
“Well I will see you tonight then”
Tiana was walking on air as she left Russell's office and headed for Stellar Cartography. She found Crewman Hernadez all ready at work and joined Martha with a smile. The smile stayed fixed on her lips as she set her the survays running and tried to decide what to wear this evening...

Nika nodded at Lieutenant Davis when he asked his question. “My first mission,” she started, “as an Acting Captain, was less of a mission and more of an experiment in chaos. We happened to be on Assailant when she was taken over by Romulans/Debrune. The Victory crew helped take the station back.
Nika could tell that Lieutenant Davis wanted more, but Nika was even less verbose when she was in a counseling office. She was getting over some of her reluctance to speak, and she'd gone far since her leaving Firont for Starfleet. But counseling offices made her uncomfortable, and Nika tended to talk more when she was uncomfortable. Unless she knew her words were being analyzed. Which all got very complicated, very fast. So she decided to tell Russell about another mission, one she thought that as counselor he would like to hear about.
“After Commander Rylka returned to the Victory, as my first officer, she was undergoing a divorce with her husband. She was a little distracted, and apparently someone thought that would be a good time to try to frame her for a murder. That didn't work very well, working together the Victory crew got her name cleared, despite doctored sensor recordings.”
Before Russell had a chance to reply—and Nika would have liked to know what he was going to say—there was another knock at his door, and Commander Matthew. Nika watched Lieutenant Davis, wondering whether he'd dismiss her, or ask Commander Matthew to wait. She was curious, not just as his current patient, but also as his Commanding Officer, to see what he thought the best way to answer this situation was.

She was a little distracted, and apparently someone thought that would be a good time to try to frame her for a murder. That didn't work very well, working together the Victory crew got her name cleared, despite doctored sensor recordings.”
Russell did not like the idea that she avoided talking about her first mission but before he could ask her a new question in the hope of getting a better response he heard a knock at the door ‘well this is odd, it is normally hard to get even one to come to me, now I have had 3 in an hour’ “Come in” Russell said hoping it was not the first officer. As Commander Matthew walked in, Russell considered what he should do, James’ last evaluation ran out a little while ago, but his orders made it clear he was on too short a time frame with the Captain and XO to let them wait. “ah Commander Matthew, I am really sorry but I must ask you to come back at another point that is convenient for you, I do apologise” Russell felt bad, it is hard for any member of the crew to come to him even if ordered and it was worse to have to leave knowing you still had to come back.
<Tag Matthew>
“I will see what I can do, thanks for come down though” Russell felt bad for a few moments before he remembered that the captain was sitting waiting for him, “Oh sorry Captain, now where was I, oh yes, I see you did not want to speak about your first mission as a acting captain, is there any reason for it, or was it a complete disaster, trust me I am not here to see where you went wrong I am here to see if you have not been affected by events too much”
<Tag Captain>
“Ok that is fine. Could you tell me about the relationship you have with your parents?”
<Tag Captain>
Russell listened carefully as she spoke, hoping nothing would go wrong. As the captain finished he looked at his report he had been writing on her, he saw no point asking any more questions as there was enough here to keep Command happy. “Right, I think I have enough to be working with. I thank you for actually coming instead of me having to drag you” Russell was still slightly in shock by the last part of his order ‘If for any reason the Captain or XO attempt to use their rank to stop you from caring out this order, for the purposes of this order only you will have the honorary rank of Admiral to avoid such’ Russell hoped Nack would come down on his own to it would make Russell life a lot easier. The Captain nodded then made her way out of his officer with a little more speed then was necessary.
Russell checked the time to see it was already 1800 hours and he had not even been back to his quarters yet. Almost running out of his office back to his quarters, he began to think quickly about what he should wear. As he ran into his quarters he quickly got undressed and showered very quickly before deciding to go with plain clothes, nothing fancy. Checking the time again, he still had ten minutes to get there so he had no more reason to rush. He quickly opened the chest under his bed and looked for the small box just to make sure it was still there, he knew he needed it but for the life of him could he figure out why. Closing the chest he moved it back under his bed and then left for ten forward.
As Russell walked in he could not see Tiana, quickly getting a drink to calm himself he made his way over to a table with a good view of the stars. Taking a good swig of his drink he waited for Tiana to arrive, he was still early and he knew she would most likely get lost in an experiment or something that will make her late.

Tiana had a quiet day in Stellar Cartography, no one had misplaced any stars and the sensors on the Victory were working perfectly and collecting lots of data.
Tiana was getting slightly stressed about her evening and when 18:00 arrived and the next shift replacements for herself and Martha arrived she was beginning to get nervous. As they stepped in to the corridor, Martha turned to her. "Have a good time tonight" Tiana stopped and looked at the other woman who continued down the corridor oblivious to Tiana's less than happy stare. She sighed, 'I guess if I'm going to spend all day smiling while poring over data streams on less than unusual stars people are going to notice something' she thought.
Tiana hurried back to her quarters had a quick shower, and changed into the black trousers and slit sleeved purple top she had (finally) decided on. Grabbing a brush she quickly worked it through her hair before gathering most of it back in a half braid.
She made it to ten forward with about thirty seconds to spare. She immediately spotted Russell sitting looking out at the stars with a drink in his hand. She walked over to him. He turned as she neared and his smile was enough to make her stomach flip and make her grateful that she had put some effort into deciding what to wear. She settled in the seat opposite him.
"hope I haven't kept you waiting long,"
<Tag: Russell>
Tiana smiled some more and hoped desperately that she didn't look like some sort of grinning idiot. She ordered a drink and the two of them sat in silence for a moment.
"I guess we have to say something don't we... Well... I'm very happy you asked me to dinner. " There were far to many pauses in her words for comfort but she persevered. "I'm not brilliant at this sort of talking, as I suppose is obvious... So what's your favourite food?"
<Tag:Russell>
"I guess my favourite is fish but I can't say I know much about cooking it..."
<Tag: Russell>
The conversation continued about this and that and gradually grew less strained (at least on Tiana's side) as she got over her nerves. They ordered their food and continued to chat. By the time desert arrived Tiana felt as if she had known Russell for much longer than she had.

Nika looked at Russell curiously. “I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to avoid speaking about my first mission. Just didn't have anything really to say about it.” She shrugged. “Assuming you were talking about my first mission as the one on Assailant, beyond the shock of having the Assailant taken over by enemy forces, it all worked out nicely in the end. Though I can't say I was fully informed as to the politics to know precisely how.
“If you mean the mission with the colonists on Vyimi,” Nika said, because she had skipped a mission in her talking. “I just didn't think it was important enough to talk about. We got a distress call, and went to go help. But when the Victory arrived, apparently the colonists had decided there wasn't a problem and emphatically wanted us to go away. Something didn't seem right with the situation though. So we stayed. Gambled on a Starfleet Order—117—to give us a reason to stay around, as well. The Assistant CMO, Ensign Daniels, went down to the surface, did some investigating, with the help of Ensign Wigram.
“It turned out that the danger was more immediate than they should have been, and the Victory was engaged with a Klingon ship that'd been lurking in the system since the beginning. Meanwhile Ensigns Wigram and Daniels were captured and detained. Fortunately they're both highly capable people, and were able to stay safe until the Klingon ship was convinced to leave and we could rescue them.” Nika didn't see a real point to explaining in detail how everything happened. She'd already talked too long. “We arrested the leader of the colony—a Federation scientist who thought that research was meant to be sold to the highest bidder, and who learned that anything that has a military application has a high starting bid. We returned to Assailant.”
“Ok that is fine. Could you tell me about the relationship you have with your parents?”
Nika didn't feel slighted by the brevity of Lieutenant Davis' reply. On the contrary, she appreciated it. “They're good people. They've done some things I didn't care for at the time. But one of those is why I'm here. They offered to show around the ambassador the Federation sent us,” she explained. “As I said, I didn't care for it much at the time.” Nika wrinkled up her nose, making a face that would have been perfectly at home on the teenager she had been at the time. “She was noisy. But I got curious, asked questions, and she was all too willing to answer them.” Nika knew she was getting off topic, and the counselor was giving her a gaze that said he knew she was trying to evade the question. At least Nika thought that was what he meant. But she planned to go back to talking about her parents, she simply had to finish her current thread of thought first. “When I decided I wanted to join the Federation, she vouched for me.” And there, that was that thread wrapped up. Now, back to the parents.
“Currently, my relationship with my parents is warm, but from a distance. We communicate, but not at levels that would necessarily be indications of a friendly relationship on Earth. However, the easiest explanation for me to respond to that with would be that we're not from Earth. We talk, they keep me updated on events on Firont, I let them know what's happening here, some of it, at least. They said they'd visit the Victory some day, but I know they won't. They're too much fond of their own planet for that. So instead I visit them, when I get a chance.”
Counselor Davis had apparently determined that Nika was in control of all her mental capabilities, or close enough, and dismissed her. At least Nika hoped that was what he had determined. All he'd really said was that he had enough to write his report on, which could mean anything. That thought made Nika leave his office a little faster than she would have otherwise.
She then headed up to the bridge, taking command back from Commander Nack. “It seemed like Lieutenant Davis was headed somewhere as soon as he finished talking to me,” Nika told him softly, trying to avoid having Nack go to the counselor's office just to find that there was no one there.
He gave her a look, and Nika shrugged. “You can contact him and ask, to be sure.” Nika personally wished that there was somewhat more scheduling of counseling sessions. But Starfleet ordered, and she obeyed. Since Starfleet said that it didn't matter whether the ship hadn't had a counselor, the instant it had one all senior staff were bound to have had a psychological examination. Never mind the pressure that put everyone under, especially the counselor.

Russell looked up to see Tiana making her way towards him, he could not help but feel nervous, evaluations he could do but this was something else. "hope I haven't kept you waiting long,” Russell shock his head “No you have not kept me waiting” Russell tried to think of something to start the conversation on but could not ‘I can make an evaluation for a captain on the spot no problem, yet as soon as I try to talk normally to someone I like I go speechless’ Russell thought to himself. Just as he was about to speak Tiana beat him to it "I guess we have to say something don't we... Well... I'm very happy you asked me to dinner. " "I’m not brilliant at this sort of talking, as I suppose is obvious... So what's your favourite food?" Russell thought about this “I don’t normally make favourites but if I had to say anything it would probably be freshly baked bagels, though I have no idea how to make them myself” Russell smiled as he said it "I guess my favourite is fish but I can't say I know much about cooking it..." “Well few scientists can spare the time to cook fish.”
Russell felt more confident about talking as time progressed, they continued talking about almost everything when Russell felt it was best to call it a night. “Well this has been fun, shall I walk you back to your quarters?” <Tag Tiana> “Well let us make our way then” Russell jokingly took her arm so she did not think he was being to fast, the two continued to talk on their way to Tiana’s quarters. As they arrived Russell turned to Tiana, feeling nervous he thought quickly what to do, “well, get some sleep and I will see you tomorrow for some of the Holo-therapy I told you about” Russell quickly kissed her on the check, before becoming extremely red. <Tag Tiana> “Well I will see you tomorrow” Russell turned and made his way back to his own quarters. Arriving at his quarters he quickly collapsed onto his bed, wondering if he had been too fast with Tiana. Moving to look under his bed he quickly pulled out the secure box and removed a smaller box with his orb in, opening it he noted the orb was radiating light again, moving to the consol he quickly brought up the schematics of the area, ‘Well we are back here again, what is it about this area that set this thing off’ Russell looked and saw nothing he thought would triggered this, ‘I am going to show you Tiana one of these days, maybe I will work out what you are then”

Relieved from command, Nack headed straight to his room. It had been awhile since he had sharpened his teeth, and he avoided opening his lips wide enough to view them out of embarrassment when he was asked to sign Commander McCormick's transfer papers.
"Hhhere hhyou gho" is the sound of the response he gave, lips wrapped around his teeth. He handed the padd back to the Ensign. "Mhake shure thhe Cahhptain sihhgns thhish too." he managed to get out before making his way to the turbolift.
His quarters were just as he left them, a little cleaner perhaps. The new waste regeneration system was now hooked into an artificial intelligence processing engine. It was able to learn what was garbage, and what was decoration, based on the inhabitant's habits. Quite intriguing, but it kept on disintegrating his Hyperion beetle snuff. Not that he ever used it, but it was a required commodity if he ever wished to entertain Ferengi properly. That rarely happened. Actually, to date, that never happened.
"Ah, here it is." he said to himself as he used his sharpener on his yellowish teeth.
The console by the small desk was flashing. It was his 'invitation' to the counseling office. It was interesting how the invitation came through the system as an order.
=/\= Commander Nack to Counselor Davis =/\=
He continued sharpening his teeth as he waited for a reply.

“Well this has been fun" Russell said at the end of their evening. shall I walk you back to your quarters?”
"That would be very kind of you," Tiana said and smiled again, in fact she was sure she hadn't stopped smiling since Russell had asked her to dinner in the first place.
“Well let us make our way then” Tiana felts she was glowing as he took her arm, she always liked a gentleman, particularly one who could make her laugh. They talked as they walked through the corridors and it seemed far too soon that they were standing outside her quarters.
Now came the really awkward part, Tiana wasn't sure what to say or do next, social situations had aways puzzled her. Particularly situations with someone she really liked. Fortunately for her Russell spoke first. “well, get some sleep and I will see you tomorrow for some of the Holo-therapy I told you about”
Tiana was about to reply when Russell kissed her on the cheek. She was surprised, very pleased but surprised. She looked at Russell, he had started blushing and Tiana was sure she had started clashing with her purple top. She held on to his hand and looked Russell in the eyes, he had very nice eyes, it was almost as if you could see the universe in them.
"Thank-you for a lovely evening", she said and then, before her nerve failed her, gave Russell a kiss on the cheek He blushed further.
“Well I will see you tomorrow” Tiana smiled a response, no trusting her ability to form a coherent or intelligible sentence. she gave a small wave as the doors of her quarters swept closed.
Tiana flopped into a chair and started to giggle, she hadn't been this happy in a very long time. In fact she couldn't remember the last time she giggled, she knew she was acting rather like a school girl but if she was honest with herself she didn't care.
When she stopped giggling Tiana went to bed and after a relatively restful night's sleep (despite dreaming about giant bagels) she got up. Tiana had never really been a morning person so she was surprised to note that she was smiling as she passed her bedroom mirror. Tiana checked the chrono and realised she had a while before she was due to meet Russell. She dressed, in uniform this time and braided her hair back and then doubled the braid. She decided that practicality would be sensible and going near fire (holographic or otherwise) with her hair even partly down was asking for trouble and a trip to sickbay.
Tiana forced herself to eat something and then read for a short while before heading off to the holodeck to meet Russell, her stomach was knotted up as she wondered what he had planned for her therapy.
"Morning, Are we ready to go?" she asked as she approached noting that Russell was there ahead of her. She hoped she didn't sound as nervous as she felt.

Nika transferred the bridge to Lieutenant Commander Isha Yontz, and returned to her quarters for some dinner and then some surprisingly restful sleep. There was something about being on a mission without danger that was more relaxing than being on shore-leave, when she didn't necessarily know yet what the next mission was going to be. Nika should have known that it couldn't last.
She was not interrupted while she slept, and she returned to the bridge to relieve Isha from duty without incident, or much comment from the night XO. Most of the senior staff still weren't on the bridge, but it wasn't technically time for their shift to start for another half hour. And even then, many departments had things to do beside the bridge. So when Nika received the comm signal, it was transferred to her by someone other than Commander Matthew.
“Commnder,” Nika said, recognizing the rank of the individual onscreen, although she'd never talked to the person before. “I'm Captain Cir'Kem of the Victory, how may I assist?”
“Commander Ardah. Of Starbase Larkwing. We're fairly isolated, and you're the closest ship. Our isolation is the cause of our problem, however. Due to it, and our location close to the Breen border, we were deemed the best choice for sensitive negotiations between the Federation and the Breen.” Nika was a little surprised that the Breen would agree to negotiate in Federation space. “But, unfortunately, the Ambassador has gone missing. There's no way he'd take off on his own, so he must have been abducted.”
“The Breen ambassador has been abducted?” Nika asked, picturing what that would do to Federation-Breen relations.
“No, no, no,” Ardah quickly assured her. “The Federation diplomat is the one who's missing. I think it was the Breen.”
“Okay,” Nika answered, tagging Commander Ardah's suspicions, if not seeing them as being the only possible solution. “And you want the Victory to...?”
“Find him and bring him back. The Breen are vehemently denying that they did this, but they're also refusing to negotiate with anyone in the interim. If they were looking for a way to get out of negotiation, this would do it. But right now I don't have any ships closer than you, that aren't keeping an eye on the Breen ship.”
“Of course,” Nika said, not really understanding.
“The Breen insisted on an isolated station. Since they were the ones coming into our territory, we did our best to be accommodating. That may have been a bad idea,” Ardah added ominously.
Nika nodded. “Alright. The mission we're on right now can be resumed later, so we'll do our best to investigate the disappearance. Can you transfer your sensor records to the Victory as soon as possible? As well as...have you taken statements of personnel that were around yet? If not, do so. We'll be on our way to your station.”
“I'm afraid that's not possible. The Breen are already accusing us of kidnapping our own ambassador to sabotage relations—never mind how that doesn't even begin to make sense. So, adding another ship to the mix would not be a very good idea.”
“Understood,” Nika said, wondering what the Victory was then supposed to do until they had a lead. Just stay where they were? Well, they could probably get closer without 'upsetting the Breen.' “Then it's even more important that you send us any information that could help with the locating of Ambassador...”
“Karzi.”
“Karzi. As well as his personnel files.”
“Yes, Captain. Whatever I can do to help.”
Nika nodded in acknowledgment, and closed the channel. Then she tapped on her commbadge. =/\=Nika to all senior staff, please report to the mission briefing room in 20 minutes=/\= Then she turned to the on-duty Navigator, and instructed him to proceed towards the station, at warp five.

Russell woke to the familiar beeping of his consol, getting up he looked over to see that he had message from half the senior staff. Reading though them quickly he decided that they could wait till after Tiana’s appointment. Quickly washing and dressing Russell left and made his way to the holodeck.
Arriving he began setting up a picturesque location for the safe point before checking all the safety protocols were in place, finishing all the checks he turned to spot Tiana making her way. "Morning, Are we ready to go?” Russell checked one last time the safeties were on. “Yeap, if you would like to go in then I will explain how this will work” as they walked in he saw Tiana stop to look at her surroundings. When she finally finished taking in the sights of the gentle building leading into a field of flowers Russell began “Right, this is what I have set up to be a safe zone, at anytime during the program if you feel you can take no more or wish to settle yourself down before trying again just speak the word ‘Stop’ and the program will automatically return to this place. The program will go though stages to let you get use to the idea, the first will be just the word floating in front of you, then images displayed on a wall, then it will slowly advance from pictures to actual fire, I will be watching from afar and at any point I feel you are not coping I will stop the program. Is that ok with you?”
Before Tiana had a chance to respond an announcement sounded =/\=Nika to all senior staff, please report to the mission briefing room in 20 minutes=/\= ‘hmm her timing is impeccable, though her voice sounded like she was serious’ Russell smiled to Tiana “well I say you have just been saved by the captain for now. I think we should head there right now, she sounded quite serious so either a star nearby is doing something to threaten someone or something else is up” <Tag Tiana>
Russell moved and shut off the program then he and Tiana walked to the briefing room discussing what it could be. As they neared the briefing room Russell realised that he was smiling too much for normal ‘well we will probably be first and undoubtedly only the captain will beat us and will be to busy to notice’. Entering the briefing room he and Tiana took seats next to each other while they waited.

Tiana stared at her very pretty surroundings for a moment or three as she considered her answer. Before she could speak an announcement came over the comms.
=/\=Nika to all senior staff, please report to the mission briefing room in 20 minutes=/\= ‘
Russell smiled “well I say you have just been saved by the captain for now. I think we should head there right now, she sounded quite serious so either a star nearby is doing something to threaten someone or something else is up”
Tiana pondered for a second. "I doubt it's a star, they were all behaving when i checked the reports earlier so I would lean towards something else." She paused, "if it isn't a star and I was told well..." She grinned, the nerves finally erased from her face.
Russell closed the programme off and the two of the walked to the briefing room. They were hypothesising on the way but that was mainly to pass the time. Tiana doubted they were close to the truth anyway but it was fun.
They settled in the briefing room in neighbouring seats and waited for the rest of the senior staff to arrive. It also gave Tiana a chance to get her grin under control. She noted that Russell was smiling as well which she took as a positive sign.
