Chris checked his watch
"Computer. Arch"
Chris stepped out of the program and into the hallway. He then walked to the specified airlock. He stod behind Daran and the Doc and Releva. Whe he saw her his stomach turned. Chris stood there just thinking about what these Lorians needed from the Jefferson.

Zhuk and Alexandria left his quarters together after straightening themselves up a bit, Theel'zhiin had to stay behind. Zhukarak led the way to the airlock where it seemed everyone else was already waiting. There were a few surprised looks when they saw Captain Galt accompany Zhuk as most had not known that she was onboard, with the exception of his FO, SMO and CTSO of course. Zhuk did not offer any explanation and got right to it.
"I see everyone is assembled. Shall we?"
Zhuk offered for Captain Galt to lead the way and followed as she did. Once again there were the curious stares of everyone from the station looking on in thier direction, wondering what this was all about. Captain Galt led them through a few corridors that slowly went from what could be deemed the slums of the station to what was now becoming a bit more affluent. Soon they were in a large dining hall, with tables lavished with a variety of foods. Zhuk easily recognized the foods that were brought over from the Jefferson, but soon realized that the food that was to be 600 hundred years in the future was something he would have to guess at.
They were soon joined by Administrator Benedict Gor, Captain Col Brand and their respective first officers. Everyone took a seat and started to partake of the meal. Small conversations were started here and there as curiousities befell everyone, and more history was revealed of the Loriens.

The party of the USS Jefferson was welcomed back to the station and led to the room where the banquet in their honour was being held. Nathan didn't feel particularly comfortable despite the presence of human looking individuals. At least, at a distance they looked human, but as soon as they approached Nathan could see the distinct differences.
Some had the slight ridges distinct to Bajorans, others looked faintly Klingon. He even spotted snouts found in Tellarites and the pointed ears found in Vulcans and many other off-shoots of the Vulcan race.
He pulled Freddy closer to him, while the boy glanced about in wonder. "Daddy, why do these people look so funny?" the boy asked innocently.
"I don't know," Nathan replied, none too comfortable with the fact that his son didn't seem his usual shy self. ~too many new impressions and interesting things to look at~ he thought, somewhat chagrined.
Later at the banquet he started to feel more at ease, even more so with Rezula visibly hovering close to the four-year old human boy. He sat at the table, gazing at his plate of food, wondering how many people had to go hungry because their guests needed to be shown they could be supported. All of a sudden he didn't feel hungry anymore.
Knowing that Rezula would be looking after Freddy, and wouldn't lose him out of her sight, Nathan excused himself and strode down to the nearest restroom. Naturally, he had to ask for directions, and even got misdirected once or twice. Once he located one, he entered and leaned against the wall, closing his eyes as he sighed in misery.

Daran continued to quietly watch Nathan, Freddie and Rezula until he felt a presence behind. Turning around, he saw the CNO, Lt. Pemberton standing there. Daran recognized him from his review of the senior officer manifest.
Dr. Keller stuck out his hand. "Hi, lieutenant. I don't think that we've met yet. Dr. Daran Keller, chief medical officer."
Pemberton shook Kellers' hand. "Lt. Chris Pemberton, Chief Navigation officer. Nice to have you aboard."
At that moment, the colonel appeared, in the company of another female Andorian that Keller didn't recognize. The colonel looked around at the assembled crew, seemed satisfied and said "I see everyone is assembled. Shall we?" The small group of Jefferson crew started on their way to the feast.
Daran walked with the rest, goggling at the sites of the future space station. It seemed that there were people every where. They weren't well clothed and didn't appear to be very well fed. In addition, in the recessed corridors, almost out of sight, Daran could see lurking figures, almost as if they were hiding from the contingent of ship personel. Daran wondered why they seemed to prefer to stay out of sight, then thought that it was probably best not to know.
After a fairly long walk, the group arrived at a large dining hall and were ushered to seats. Daran found himself sitting between Lt. Pemberton and a station resident, who appeared to be a mix of Vulcan, human and possibly Tellarite blood and was wearing what was clearly a uniform with a number of insignia, but Keller had no idea what they all meant.
Daran looked around a little uneasily, then leaned over and whispered to Pemberton. "Does the Jefferson get this kind of time travel thing happening a lot?"
<Pemberton>
Pemberton had just finished speaking when a hand tapped Daran on his shoulder. The doctor turned to see Administrator Gor. "I understand from the colonel that you are the Chief Medical Officer aboard the Jefferson."
"Yes sir" Keller replied.
"Excellent" the administrator boomed, then waved at the man sitting beside Keller. "This is Dr. Morduc, CMO aboard station. I thought that the two of you might find something to talk about." Gor smiled encouragingly, then turned and headed back towards the table with the Jefferson's senior officers, leaving Keller and Morduc eying one another uncomfortably.

Chris walked by Daran to the feast on the station. Chris sat by Daran, Daran leaned over and whispered to Chris.
"Does the Jefferson get this kind of time travel thing happening a lot?" Daran Said.
"I have no idea I have only been on the Jefferson for 2 months Doctor." Chris said to Daran.
Chris waited for the Captain or Captain Galt to say something. He sat there very impatiently. He moved his feet every minute or two and fumbled with his uniform and fixed ever minute or so.

Rez watched over the boy, and noticed his curious nature. She declined a seat at the table, and said she wasn't hungry. ~I don't eat like you people do. Best not to join you.~ She thought, and stayed where she was, behind the boy out of sight mostly. ~Out of sight out of mind.~ She thought, and did her best to stay where she could be seen by Nathan only. She preferred to blend in, and hoped it would be easier then blending in in the academy.
A little later she noticed Nathan had disappeared, so she decided it was time to make sure she wasn't seen too much. She stood near a wall, knowing she could shoot someone from her angle if someone attempted to harm the boy or the Jefferson crew. Having part of her attention on him, she noticed the colonel. ~He is getting too friendly, not a good thing.~
After a little bit, she almost knew where each member of their crew was, and what they were doing. ~Now if only Nathan would show up, that would make all of us.~

Two shady characters were lurking about on the diplomatic level of the station. It had been two weeks since they were able to infiltrate onboard and pass as hybrids although they were both purists, one human and the other Cardassian. With so many hybrids having less than one eigth of a mix, and a little DNA encoding in their own g-nome, it wasn't hard at all.
The Federation High Command had received intel on a Lorien medical facility that did the very thing these two operatives had undergone, DNA resequencing, so that Loriens could infiltrate the Federation and pass for purists. Their main reason for this was for the simple fact of having a better life than what they had as outcasts. The Federation wanted to put a stop to it.
"We've been here two weeks and still have no signs of this facility. Any ideas Gulkat." The human named Taylor Jones was beside herself as she was losing patience as each day passed by with no success.
"It is time to resort to more severe measures." He turned to eye a human male as they passed him in the hallway. "He looks as if he may have undergone the treatment. At the very least, he should know the whereabouts of the facility. We just need to persuade him to divulge it to us." Gulkat could see the wicked smile on Taylor's face. He knew why the Federation had sent her along, she had a penchant for getting things done.
They both turned to follow the human to the lavatories. Taylor remianed outside to make sure the coast stayed clear, while Gulkat went inside verifying that there was no one else in there other than he and his victim. Gulkat waited for the door to the private stall to reopen. The man had a look of surprise on his face, but before he could make any comments Gulkat reached his arm around his neck and pressed with both of his arms to minimize the airflow and circulation that was going to his brain until he reached unconciousness.
Dragging the human to the door, Gulkat looked out and was immediately helped by Taylor. They carried the man away between the two of them pretending he was a friend who had drank too much and carried him all the way to Gulkat's quarters. There they bound and gagged him in a chair before starting their interrogation once he woke up.
***************************** In the meantime at the banquette... *****************************
Zhukarak was in deep conversation with Administrator Gor while eating from time to time. "Any chance that you may see an end to all of this, Administrator?"
"Unfortunately no. We are lacking the resources for an all-out fight. Luckily we are currently still unreachable in this nebula. If it wasn't for that, I feel we would already be erradicated. However, I think hybrids will live on no matter what. There has been too much integration through the centuries that not all purists are even sure that they are truly pure." Benedict Gor took a bite of what appeared to be the leg of some type of foul.
"Yes, but they will still deny their true ancestry." Alexandria chimed in.
Zhuk had come across races and species that would deny one or another for this or that, but never on such a large intergalactic scale. Were they doomed to such a fate? He didn't want to dwell on it much more and decided to change the subject a little. "Administrator, seeing some of the living conditions of your people, can I offer our medical assistance? At the very least I could have our doctors do physicals on your people while we are still here getting our ship repaired."
"That would be excellent. We have doctors, but the extra help would be greatly appreciated. We are short on medical supplies, one of the few things we send our ships out on raids for."
Zhuk looked over at Doctor Keller for a non-verbal approval to get started on helping as soon as possible. He looked at the empty space where Doctor Van Breughel had been sitting, but he only noted his son in the next chair with Rezula silently nearby. It seemd that he was absent for awhile longer than what would be considered normal. He motioned for Rezula's attention who promptly came to his side. "See what's keeping Doctor Van Breughel. Freddie will be alright here with us and I'll make sure that Potter keeps an extra eye on him as well."
Rezula nodded as she understood her new assignement. She immediately left the area to see if Doctor Van Breughel was alright in the lavatory.

Nathan was on his way to the sink to wash his hands after using the lavatory when he encountered a Cardassian male. Nodding politely, Nathan passed him and was suddenly grabbed from behind. He gasped for air as a strong arm was wrapped around his throat, cutting off the precious air supply to his lungs, and blood supply to his brains.
Survival instinct kicked in and he kicked at his assaillant, struggling to get free with all his might. However the rapidly deoxygenation of his blood as well as the lack of air in general caused his struggling to grow weaker, and finally cease altogether. In the end he fell limp in the Cardassian's arms, breathing shallowly as the Cardassian released his choke-hold on the human doctor.
Meanwhile, Freddie enjoyed himself at the banquet, chatting with a child his age that lived on the station. He was very aware of Rezula walking off at some point, and the pointy eared Marine taking her place. He knew then that something was amiss, but as he was used to his father going off for longer than intended, he didn't feel he should be alarmed. Only when the marine was very obvious in paying attention to whatever Freddie did, did the boy grow worried.
The four-year old wandered over to the stoic marine and pulled his pant leg. "Mister Potter?" he querried, "where's my dad? Shouldn't he be back by now?"
(Potter)
~an unknown length of time later~
Nathan slowly regained his consciousness, breathing hard. In reflex he attempted to bring his hands to his head to massage his temples as he was having a splitting headache due to having been nearly suffocated. However, he discovered he was tightly bound as well as gagged, which didn't make his ragged breathing any easier.
As grogginess passed, he lifted his head and looked around to get any bearings on where he was. Yet he couldn't recognize his surroundings. He screamed against the gag, hoping someone would hear, but knew such effort was wasted and futile. He would have to wait until whoever had attacked and abducted him came back, but he hoped his collegues would start looking for him soon.

"That's a great concept, Dr. Keller" Dr. Morduc said, slightly irritated "but the station just doesn't have the resources for what you're proposing"
Daran shook his head, just as irritated as Morduc. It was hard to believe that 600 years in the future, the technology wasn't present hereto adequately support the population of Lorien. "Providing basic services and necessities should be your first priority, doctor. Replicators should be able..."
Morduc waved his hand dismissively, interrupting Daran. "I appreciate your zeal Dr. Keller, but you don't have the slightest idea what our problems are. We don't have the energy for unfettered replicator use, which you obviously do. The majority of station power is taken up by the shields and life support, which have to be kept up at all time to protect us from the Badlands. After that come weapons and..." Morduc stopped short as Col. Hrisvalar walked up behind them.
"Sorry to interrupt, gentlemen, but I require Dr. Keller" the Andorian said in an official fashion. Frowning slightly in confusion, Daran said goodbye to Dr. Morduc and left the table, accompanying his captain.
Hrisvalar and Keller walked to a nearby restroom. Rezula was standing guard at the entrance, confusing Keller even more. The CSO walked in after them. Administrator Gor was inside as well, along with several other station personel.
"We think that Dr. Van Breughel has been abducted from this room. Work with Rezula and see what you can find out" the colonel ordered.
Daran nodded, opened his medical kit and pulled out a tricorder and high resolution scanner. "Where would you like me to start?" he asked the security officer.

Rez understood exactly what was needed from her. She told Potter to watch the boy, and she went off to find the good doctor.
Once she was outside the bathroom, she knew by scanning that van Brueghel wasn't in there. She noticed Keller came up to her. ~The colonel must have sent this one. Well hopefully two will be better than one.~
"I do believe we need to search for Dr. van Breughel's life signs to see where he might be. Its a start, and I do believe a good one. Lets get back to the ship. From there we will be able to conduct a better search than if we were here," Rezula said, and off they went.

"Yes, sir. But first I'd like to take a fast look around the washroom to see if there is anything here." Rezula looked impatient but nodded. Quickly, Daran started scanning the washroom, looking for any trace of Nathan and quickly found some of his DNA traces in one of the stalls, then on the floor in front of the same stall.
"It seems that he was attacked here, Commander. There are some cell traces." Daran thought for a moment. "Skin cells start to degrade almost from the moment they are separated from their host. I'm going to take a sample of all DNA traces in the room. If there are any that have similar amount of decay, they could lead us to whoever attacked our doctor." Rezula walked over and watched Dr. Keller over his shoulder, interested in the results. Daran picked up over 30 different DNA traces in the area, which he stored in his tricorder.
Shaking his head, he turned to the CSO. "This is going to be a bit more difficult than I thought, but you're right. We should go back to the ship now." And off they went.

"Did you set up the forcefield to block out his lifesigns?"
"Yes, and I've jammed any outgoing transmissions of that badge he had." Taylor responded to Gulkat. She really didn't care of his second-guessing her.
"Curious though, "Taylor was examining the comm badge more closely.”It looks like one of those I've seen in the Starfleet Museum, hm!"
Gulkat had peeked through the door of the adjacent room. "He is awake. Let us see what he has to say." Together they walked over to their captor.
Taylor reached for the gag, but stopped short first. "Don't even try to yell. Gulkat here has a penchant for pulling teeth one at a time. So I suggest you just simply tell us what we want to know."
The man slowly nodded in the affirmative. She went ahead and released the gag from his mouth. Just when he was about to scream at the top of his lungs Taylor struck him good with an open handed slap to his face. "That is the only warning you'll get."
Gulkat was sneering in the background. He observed how the face of their human hybrid captor was turning a shade of red. He then walked up to him to start with the interrogation. "We've scanned you. It must be quite the facility you have here, for I cannot find any traces of your DNA resequencing. Where is it?"
***************************************************
Zhukarak walked out of the lavatory with Administrator Gor. Captains Alexandria Galt and Col Brand were standing close by. "Administrator Gor, any reason why any of your people would want to kidnap one of my crew?" All three Loriens looked at Zhuk as they didn't care for his accusatory tone.
Benedict Gor was the first to regain his composure as he could understand how the facts of the matter were of good cause for the comment. "Colonel Hrisvalar, I understand how this looks but I assure you that there would be no reason for any of my people to do this."
"Then you agree you may have infiltrators here on the station." Zhuk did not let up for one moment.
The administrator again was taken aback at the implication. He looked at his two Captains by his side. It was Captain Brand that spoke first. "Benedict, he is right. I agree that our people have nothing to do with this. The obvious remains, just as the Colonel has stated."
Zhuk could see that Administrator Gor was deep in thought. It was obvious that he didn't like what all this meant. Zhuk broke the silence. "If you would allow us, I want my ship to scan the station for Doctor Van Breughel's biosignature."
This time Alexandria, ~ Captain Galt ~ Zhukarak reminded himself, spoke up. "That won't do you any good. If Starfleet personnel did infiltrate us, they would be wearing individual bioshields masking their signatures. They would have the means to shield your doctor as well."
Zhuk didn't like the sound of this. He needed to find his crew member fast. Then a gnawing question came to mind. "Why would they want to kidnap him? I mean if your Starfleet thought it necessary to send in a covert operation, it would be for high-value target...not him." Zhuk noted the silence he was receiving from his hosts. There was something they weren't telling him.

"That is the only warning you'll get."
Nathan blinked as he was suddenly struck hard, he hadn't planned on screaming for help. All he was trying to do was breathe properly, which was something he still wasn't managing to do. His mouth had gone dry due to the gag and he swallowed a couple of time to get some moisture back. He knew there was no hope of getting something to drink, so he didn't bother to ask.
His face turned a darker shade of red as he held back his anger, but also because he couldn't breathe normally just yet. He was still feeling the constricting pressure on his throat and something in the air was causing his hay-fever to act up.
"We've scanned you. It must be quite the facility you have here, for I cannot find any traces of your DNA resequencing. Where is it?"
Nathan coughed a couple of times before glaring up at his Cardassian captor. "DNA resequencing?" he asked in return, "what would I need that for? And what facility, what are you talking about?"
His talking back earned him another smack across the face and he tasted blood. He shook his head briefly, wondering just what they were talking about. "I have no idea what you're talking about," he repeated, "I have no need for DNA resequencing. I am human, both my parents were human, their parents too were human. I only have .." He faltered, fearing he might've said too much; he nearly mentioned having a Vulcan sister, though she was pure Vulcan, so why shouldn't he mention her? "...a Vulcan sister," he finished," but she's pure Vulcan. My parents adopted her when she was orphaned."
Nathan could tell his two captors didn't believe a word he was saying, but there was no way he could convince them. He tugged at his bonds, struggling against them. "My captain will come looking for me," he threatened, "and you'll not like it when he gets his hands on you. He'll have you both raw. And if anything happens to my son..."

Alexandria Galt was the first to respond, but not really answering Zhuk's question. "We don't know Colonel, but we're wasting precious time. Come, let's have our engineers work together with yours and see if we can locate him."
Zhuk tapped his comm badge to send word for Commander Pudlo to help where he could.

Gulkat looked at their human looking hybrid denying any knowledge of the facility they were sent to look for.
"You lie! If you are a purist as you claim, then what reason do you have for being here? We would have known of any other covert Starfleet operations on this station."
Their captor had a confused look on his face, but Taylor wasn't going to be fooled. "Maybe we should go out there and find your son. I'm sure you'll talk then." She gave a smile indicating that she was willing to do anything to complete her mission.

Rez thought about heading back to the ship immediately but thought of something else she should do.
"I will meet you back at the ship," she said to the doctor who nodded. Rez headed down the corridor and back to the Banquet Hall, where she found him not looking too happy. ~Shoot, someone must have told him.~ Rez walked over to the boy.
"I see someone informed you. I will do everything in my power to get him back, until then I suggest you stick with me. You shouldn't be alone, and I did say I would guard you. I think he would want me to continue to do so. Are you hungry? Tired?" Rez said hoping Nathan's son wouldn't try to push her away.
~I am lucky, I would never have to worry about my parents. What would I do in his situation though? Would I panic?~ She thought wondering how he must be feeling.
"Let's go back to the ship. I know you will be safe there," she said putting her hand out for him to hold. She remembered the doctor doing so, and wondered if the boy would take it.

In the quiet of the lab, Daran downloaded the DNA samples that he had taken out of the restrooms into the Jefferson's medical computer. The examination that he was thinking about the for samples was going to have to be extremely painstaking. DNA didn't degrade quickly, so the differences between the samples would be miniscule at best, but it seemed it was all he had to go on right now.
He was beginning his analysis when the door to the lab swished open. Daran looked over the newcomers. There were two members of the Jefferson's security staff accompanying a large being, strongly resembling a Klingon, but with some human characteristics and Dr. Morduc, who Daran had met at the banquet.
"My name is Lt. Commander N'Vin, assistant head of security for the station. You have already met Dr. Morduc" the Klingon growled. "You have taken samples of those who have kidnapped your crew mate. We are here to get the results of the analysis."
"I'm have just started my analysis, Commander. If the two of you'd like to wait, feel free to pull up a chair" Daran said, waving vaguely at couple of chairs on the other side of the lab. Daran then eyed the two security officers, indicating that he wanted them to wait here as well. The one in charge nodded slightly and the two of them took up station in the lab.
N'Vin scowled darkly at the young doctor and ignored Dr. Keller's suggestion and the two security guards completely. The Klingon stomped over to where Daran was working, in order to watch what was going on. Morduc joined the two of them with a slightly more polite air. "What are you doing?" N'Vin demanded.
"I'm running a chronometric DNA reclusion test. DNA degrades at a set rate once it's separated from its' owner. Assuming that there was some kind of a struggle, both Dr. van Breughel and whoever attacked him would have shed skin cells. I have already isolated Nathan's, so if I can find any with a matching decay rate, chances are they will belong to whoever attacked him" Daran explained. N'Vin glanced over at Dr. Morduc as if he was checking for verification. In response to N'Vin, Morduc nodded slightly.
Daran set the test running, then glanced over at his two visitors. The Klingon seemed quite irritated, which was probably his usual state. On the other hand, Morduc was looking around the lab with an almost envious expression on his face. "Is there something that you wanted to look at Doctor?" Daran inquired.
"No" Morduc replied, continuing to gaze around the lab wistfully. "We may be ahead of you technologically, but this lab is better equipped than anything I have on the station, or in any of the starships for that matter. Our primary concern is defence, not research. I doubt that I could even do the test that you're running right now due to lack of equipment."
Daran nodded sympathetically and looked back to his computer screen. He recalled the conversation that he and Morduc had been having before this situation came up. Morduc had said that Daran had no idea of what was going on aboard the station and so shouldn't comment on the way things were being done, and Morduc was right. Daran considered this test to be fairly simple, but if you didn't have the software and equipment, there was nothing to be done.
As he was thinking, his monitor beeped. Daran pulled up the results as N'Vin and Morduc crowded in to look as well. As he read the results, Daran's face took on a puzzled look. He double checked the findings then looked at Dr. Morduc. Daran would say that he looked shocked. Immediately, Morduc and Commander N'Vin left the lab, escorted by the two security guards.
Daran tapped his communicator. "Kellar to Col. Hrisvalar."
"Go ahead, doctor"
"I have the results of the chronometric DNA reclusion test" Daran reported. "I've established that two people attacked Dr. van Breughel, a Human and a Cardassian. Both are hybrids with Vulcan heritage."
"That's not very useful doctor. We are docked with a station full of hybrids" Hrisvalar growled.
"Perhaps, but according to my tests, the parent DNA has been warped somehow. They are both actually pure bred. The warping would probably be able to pass most standard medical tests. The only reason mine picked it up is because the test is extremely sensitive" Daran said.
There was a pause while the colonel thought. "All right. I understand. Anything else?"
"Yes sir" Daran continued. "The DNA of the two showed some ionic radiation contamination. I would imagine that they have spent a lot of time around a high energy power source, like a warp core or shield generator."
"That's more useful. Thank you doctor. Hrisvalar out." The colonel closed the channel.

Nathan
"You lie! If you are a purist as you claim, then what reason do you have for being here? We would have known of any other covert Starfleet operations on this station."
Nathan sighed tiredly. How many times was he going to have to repeat himself? His arms were starting to ache as the back of the chair was biting into his armpits. He was certain he would be very sore after he'd be released. ~if I'm going to be released~ he realized.
"Purist?" he echoed, "what on Earth is a purist? And I am a civillian, I am not part of starfleet. I am just a civillian doctor, I know nothing about starfleet or its operations." He was starting to sound desperate, willing them to be convinced.
"Maybe we should go out there and find your son. I'm sure you'll talk then."
This time Nathan's expression turned as white as chalk and all strength drained from him as he sagged against his bonds. "I'll tell you all I know," he whispered, "please don't hurt my son. But I know nothing about these facilities you keep talking of. You can torture me all you like, you'll not hear what you want to hear."
If possible he paled even further when the cardassian produced an old-fashioned syringe with needle, checking it as he made sure there was no air in the tube by pressing on the plunger. Nathan didn't particularly like needles, and he didn't like the look on the Cardassians face any more than he liked needles. He squirmed as he tried to inch away from his captor, unsuccessfully.
The Cardassian jabbed the needle into his upper arm and pushed the plunger down. Nathan bit down hard on his lip, trying not to scream, remembering the woman's warning earlier. "What..." he started, as he started to feel faint and dizzy. Yet he didn't pass out, so it wasn't a sedative he'd been injected with.
Freddy
Freddy looked up at the oddly looking security chief, then gazed at her hand. The boy wasn't used to having that many women in his life, but he took her hand anyway. "Promise you'll find daddy," he begged, "I want my daddy!"

It had been a couple of days sense he recieved his transfer orders and Matthew Reynolds couldn't be happier. The transfer order was sending him back to the USS Jefferson as the Chief Science Officer. He expected to get his old spot back, but it seemed that operations was already occupied by someone else. He was miffed about that, but it didn't really matter because he was going back home.
"Are we there yet?" Caleb asked as he joined Matt at helm control. Matt didn't respond because he didn't know when they would get there. Headquarters had given him the coordinates where the Jefferson was supposed to be, but there wasn't any sign of them. He was about to scan for there warp trail, but thought that was him just being paranoid.
"I don't know, Caleb, but we will find them soon enough," Matt said.
"No you won't," a man in an admiral uniform said. Matt turned around already knowing who it was. His voice was unmistakable.
"Hello Q, and why not?" Matt said as he stood up to meet the powerful being. It wasn't long ago that Q had messed with the Jefferson and her crew. Admiral Loskene had made Q promise to leave him alone, which meant the Jefferson as well.
"I thought you were going to leave the Jefferson alone?" Matt asked.
"No, no I promised to leave our dear Rear Admiral alone," Q whipped," now that he's gone from the Jefferson, I can toy with the Jefferson all I want."
"Who is he, dad?" Caleb asked intrigued by the essentric man.
"He's....," Matt started.
"I'm Q," Q responded eyeing Caleb with interest. This of course didn't sit well with Matt. "Very interesting, interesting indeed."
"What the hell are you talking about?" Matt asked angry that Q was focusing on his son.
"There in the 31st century," Q said briefly looking at Matt.
"What, what's in the 31st century?" Matt asked confused.
"The Jefferson, I sent them to the 31st century," Q responsed amused once again. Matt normally wouldn't believe what had just been said, but he knew that Q didn't joke about these types of things.
"Why are you telling me this?" Matt asked.
"Because your a member of the Jefferson and they are going to need you there," Q responded with a smile growing on his face. Before he knew it Q snapped his fingers and everyone disappeared. When Matt opened his eyes he was in a white room accompanied by four other people: Caleb, Q, Alexander Johnson and Grace Mitchell.
"Grace, Alex what are you doing here?" Matt asked so confused that his head was now hurting.
"I don't know," Grace responded," we was standing on the bridge and then I was here."
"Hey, hey, we cannot have you three talking to eachother," Q said," our dear commanders here as intrigued the Continum and we would like to know more about both of them."
"Wait you can't do......." Matt screamed, but felt his body sucked into a vacuum. He didn't know what was happening, but the next thing he knew both he and Caleb were standing somewhere very familiar.
"Intruder alert, intruder alert," someone on the bridge ordered. Matt found himself sitting on the Captain's chair, which made the person sitting on the first officer chair scream and faint. Matt immediately turned to face the person and saw that it was someone he didn't know. He quickly checked the rest of the bridge and saw that the people he did know where barely able to speak.
"Computer belay that order, Authorization code Reynolds Zodiac tango seven."
"Order belayed," the computer chimed.
"Glad my codes still work," Matt said as he looked at Kristin and Monica,"Well isn't anyone going to say hello."
"We would, but two of our senior staff members just disppeared and you and Caleb just appeared in front of us," Kristin responded.
"I know, Q is responsible for that," Matt responded as he heard a familiar chirp. He immediately stoop up and faced his favorite blue person.
"Hello Colonel, it's nice to see you again," Matt said as he saluted his commanding officer," I'm your new science officer."

Jeff came on over as soon as Zhuk called him. Nodding to the captain, the Station's chief engineer took him to an engineering control center. while they were walking, Jeff introduced himself.
Galt grunted. "I suppose I would be the equivalent of that on he station. but I personally consider myself to be the repair coordinator for the station. Everything always breaks. some of the equipment would be antiquated even to you." she paused. "No offense, of course."
"none taken. I'll be the first to admit I feel a little out of place here. though," He paused as they reached the open room. "the basic systems don't look as different as I might expect."
"they probably aren't. most of this stuff is quite old, I already told you that."
"yes it is." Jeff Said, examining the inscription of one of the core injectors. "this was made the same year that we just came from. And It could use cleaning."
"all the manuals have been lost for a while. we do have newer equipment though, and it's no use for you to clean it. we can't shut down now. Or anytime."
"Actually, that was the attraction of this model. It was designed for long term use. Jeff tapped a dusty port. "open his and pour in a reactant, and it'll clean while working. you just have to increase the feed on our other feed to compensate. and since the valve is before the injector assembly itself, that's not hard to do."
Galt nodded. "I'll do that. But now, we have more pressing issues." she led Jeff over to a peice of equipment he could only guess at.. "Junk again, but it'll have to do."
"that 'Junk' is at least 200 years ahead of my time." Jeff replied.
"it's still old here." Alexandria Replied. 'and it's a locator. If we know something completely unique, we can pinpoint him. it could be a birthmark, anything. but with the internal sensor array... It's not a guarantee. about a quarter of them are probably out."
"well, he hasn't been aboard that long. he's a civilian, but I don't' know that much else about the doctor."
He got a grunt in response. "A communicator frequency? anything like that?"
"they probably took it off. Can we tie in to the Jefferson's computer banks? I could probably get his DNA sequence."
"yes, we can. These controls here." Galt pointed out a corner of the board, mounted atop a white column. the whole apparatus was white- or used to be- but this was cleaner then the rest.
Galt saw his expression. "it gives off a static charge that's unique to this function. keeps most of the dust and dirt off."
Jeff tapped the controls, unsure at first, but getting the hang of it. soon, he was into the databanks.
"Got it. Now we just plug it in...." He hit the commit button.
OOC: it won't work. And a bit of a backpost here, too.

Everyone was feverishly working on finding the good doctor. Doctor Keller had a few good leads on how to locate him and was currently working together with Commander Pudlo to see if they can set up a scanning frequency in order to locate Doctor Van Brughel. Capatin Galt was helping as well, Zhuk hadn't realized that her background was in engineering.
Lieutenant Potter was readying his marines for a possible extraction, and Rezula reamined with the boy as she had promised to guard him. Zhukarak was tired of waiting. He left his Ready Room to see a familair face that wasn't supposed to be here, that of Commander Matt Reynolds, their former operations Chief, along with his son.
Zhuk couldn't quite get over the fact that they were sitting where he expected to see Grace and Alex. Matt Reynolds, unsure of himself, went ahead and reported to Zhuk. "This is hardly the time for formalities, Commander. We are several hundred years in the future, I have a doctor that's been abducted, and now I'm missing two of my senior officers."
Zhuk took a moment to look at the despondent faces on his bridge. They were all thinking the same as he was, were they going to get out of here in one piece. He didn't know what else Q could have in store for them. He strode over to his command chair. "But first things first. How about you get your son situated, see the quartermaster about quarters and then report back to me."
Zhuk watched as Mr. reynolds took the boy by his hand and together they departed the bridge.

The serum was working its way through their captive's veins. There was nothing left for him to do but answer with the truth.
Taylor grabbed his hair to lift his head up. She brought her face close to his. "Where is the medical facility where you hybrids go to resequence your DNA in order to infiltrate the Federation illegally?"
Nathan couldn't quite make sense of the question as he really had no answer. "I..am..not a ...hy..brid..am hu..man."
"He is as human as I am hybrid." Gulkat spat out. "Did you give me the correct dosage of that serum?"
"Yes, of course I did. I don't know why he's talking this way."
An alarm went off on one of their monitoring systems. Gulkat went to check it, and then returned. "I don't understand it, but the shields are starting to lose their integrity."
They looked at each other, understanding the implications if they didn't hurry and get that information.

Jefferson
Young nurse Hannah Lowell hovered over the Romulan woman, gently padding up the pillow behind her head and tucking the blanket in up to her chin. Then she ran her hand gently over her hair in a reassuring gesture. "You'll be fine," Hannah said softly as she checked the woman's vitals and then checked on the fetus. "And so will your baby. I'm sure Doc Nathan will be back soon to take over, you seem to like him."
The woman smiled weakly, having grown accustomed to the human girl tending to her. The girl was gentle in her ministrations and had an excellent bedside manner and no apparent prejudice against Romulans that most of the other nurses were showing. "Thank you," she whispered back, "and where's that young man? Leo? Could you get him for me?"
Hannah nodded and tapped her combadge. "Sickbay to Lieutenant Potter. Lieutenant, this is Nurse Lowell. The Romulan patient is asking for you...if you could spare her some time that would be appreciated."
(Leo)
Wherever
Nathan's breathing was laboured as he thought hard on answering the questions fired at him. He blinked several times, taking deep breaths as he concentrated. "Test my DNA," he finally pleaded, "I am human." He was terrified of what they might resort to in order to get what they wanted to hear.
He had no clue what they wanted, nor what this resequencing facility was that they kept insisting he knew its location of. And what were purists? At least his son was safe for now...he knew Rezula would protect him, she had promised. "Please," he begged, "let me go. I know nothing of what you are seeking for, I am just a medical doctor, I'm not a geneticist."

Leo was standing in front of a select squad of marines. He had selected the marines in front of him for a couple of reasons. One, they were either not human, or hybrid human, second, they were also some of the best covert extraction specialist’s onboard the Jefferson. “All right people, Dr. Van Breughel have been kidnapped. It’s our job to get him out when he's located. It’s going to be a simple extraction. We go in, locate the doctor, and apprehend his kidnappers." Leo surveyed his team. “The Loriens have leant us some phaser rifles for this mission and for us to keep if the Colonel allows us." Leo said. He saw looks of apprehension from his marines. He smiled and walked over to a crate and opened it up. He pulled out a phaser rifle that looked like their regular phaser rifle, but with a few additions to it, most noticeably a grenade launcher attached onto it. “I want all of you to practice with these in the short time before we have to move out." He was about to continue with his briefing his COM badge chirped. "Sickbay to Lieutenant Potter. Lieutenant, this is Nurse Lowell. The Romulan patient is asking for you...if you could spare her some time that would be appreciated." Leo blinked, and then turned to his XO." Master Sergeant , continue on with the briefing and get the men checked out with this rifle." The gunny nodded his head and took the rifle out of his hands. Leo walked out into the corridor and tapped his COM badge. “Sickbay, this is Captain Potter, on my way." :Sickbay: Leo walked in and spotted the nurse who had called him. The nurse also spotted him. " Ah, captain. The she’s over here," the nurse told him. Leo followed behind her. The walked to a biobed in the back of sickbay, to give Havraha some privacy. The nurse smiled when Havraha's face lit up at the site of Leo. Leo smiled too. The nurse turned and left to give them privacy. Leo spotted chair that was sitting nearby and pulled it over. He sat down beside Haraha and reached for her hand. She took it and smiled. " You wanted to see me?" Leo asked in romulan, still smiling. " Yes, I wanted to talk to you, about, well about us." She looked up at him. He looked down at her. " What about us?" Leo asked. " Whets going to happen if I make through this pregnancy alive? Or what if I die? Leo thought for a moment about his answer. He thought for a couple of minutes actually. " Well, if you survive, I'll be there for you to help raise your child, if you don't, I’ll raise the child, unless you want someone in your family to care for it." He replied. " But either way, I'll be there for your child." Leo smiled again. Havraha closed her eyes and smiled, she squeezed his hand a bit harder. She opened her eyes. " I lov....." Her face contorted in a grimace of pain." I think its time." she said. Leo jumped up and called the nurse. The nurse hurried over when she saw how worried Leo was. She stopped and looked at Harahan." Oh my God." She said. " Jean, T'von, get the birthing kit.” She yelled at some nurses. She turned to Leo," You’re going to have to leave sir." Leo nodded. He grasped Havrahas hand once more before he left. " Keep me apprised of the situation Ensign." He left sickbay and headed back to the marine training deck. (Comeback post!!)

Hannah nervously glanced at Havraha, who lay back with her eyes closed and her hands gripping the side of her bed hard. The young nurse didn't know what to do, and she'd just sent the father away. At least, she assumed he was the father, after all the woman had asked for him...and didn's she just start saying 'I love you'?
Hannah Lowell didn't know for certain, but what she did know was that she was not qualified to deliver a baby. "Computer activate EMH!" she said sharply, as she grabbed the birthing kit from a collegue's hands.
The EMH appeared stating his usual lines, then glanced at the woman in labour and the hesitating young nurse. "Give me that," he snapped as he swifly moved to Havraha's side. "Where's the obstetrician?" he continued, "that civillian fellow who got on board when we left the base."
Hannah shrugged. "Don't know doc," she answered, "last I heard was that he went missing. Someone seems to have taken an interest in him and taken him captive or something." She sat down beside Havraha. "You'll be fine," she whispered, then glanced up to the EMH, who slightly shook his head.
"We need to hurry," he said quietly, then looked directly at Havraha. "How far are the contractions apart?" he asked in perfect Rihannsu.
Havraha shook her head, indicating she didn't know, then clenched her teetch as another one hit her. "Push," the EMH instructed her.
~
Several minutes later an exhausted Havraha held her baby son in her arms, then her eyes rolled up in their sockets and she slumped against her pillows. Hannah caught the infant just in time before it threatened to slip from her grasp.
The EMH shook his head sadly after trying to revive her. "Computer log time of death at 1600 hours, on stardate 2392.0916." He pulled the sheet over the woman's body, then glanced at the nurse who seemed about to faint. "Sit," he told her, "is the father around?"
Hannah nodded and tapped her combadge. "Captain Potter, you may re-enter sickbay." When the marine captain approached her, she handed him the infant. "Congratulations sir, you have a fine and healthy son, but.." she shook her head sadly, "the mother passed away just after childbirth. I'm sorry."

Matt was surprised that Colonel Hrisvalar wasn't more surprised that he had just appeared out of no where clutching the hand of his son. ~He must of gotten used to it~ Matt thought as he ordered the computer towards his quarters. Before he left he made sure that his room wouldn't be assign to anyone else, unless it was a complete necessity.
It didn't take long for them to make it to there quarters and Caleb made himself at home almost instantly. Matt was pleased to see that some of his weapons were still hanging on the walls. ~Seems maintanence isn't doing there job~ Matt said as he changed into a fresh uniform.
"Caleb stay here, I'm going to find out what's going on," Matt said noticing that Caleb was already watching the television.
"Ok," Caleb said as he changed the channel. Matt was happy to see that he wasn't having a hard time adjusting to the 31st centry, but it freaked him out. Everything he knew about the universe could be obselete, and his knowledge was now ancient. It was very discomforting for him, but he knew that there was a reason Q sent them all here.
"So what's going on?" Matt asked as soon as the lift doors open to the bridge.

"So what's going on?" That was the question of Zhuk's new crewmember, or old one that has returned.
"What's going on indeed, that is the question of the centuries to come, Mr. Reynolds. It seems that Q is trying to give us a history lesson about the Federation's 'better than though' attitude, at least that is what I am surmizing why we are here."
Zhuk could see the confused, but still interested look upon Matt's face. He had made sure this was indeed Commander Reynolds by having his bio-signature checked while he had taken his son to their quarters. Security had been at standby, just in case, but Zhukarak really had no doubts. He had gottne to know Matt when Zhuk had first taken command of the Jefferson and his first 'sense' of him when he reappeared was that it was truly him.
"More of the history lesson later, Commander. I think the Science position would be wasted on you, at least for the moment and seeing how I am missing two senior officers and you are senior to those that I have right now, I am asking you to step in as my First Officer, at least on a temporary basis. Once we find out what has happened to Grace and Alex, we'll go from there."
<Matt>
Just after Matt finished his reply, Zhuk's comm badge alertd him. "Go ahead Mr. Pudlo."
"Sir, with the help of the station's engineer we've located a foreign power source and we're able to modulate the scan to get through. With Doctor Keller's DNA results we have positively identified Doctor Van Breughel, a male Cardassian, and an other human, a female, that...uh..."
Zhukarak noted the hesitancy of revealing the rest of the information. "Spit it out Mr. Pudlo!"
"Here, I'll let Doctor Keller explain." Zhuk's comm badge switched to the voice of Daran Keller. "Sir, it seems that the DNA of the other human with him has matching sequences to Doctor Van Breughel."
Zhuk and Matt looked at each other increduously. "What are you saying, doctor?" Although Zhuk had an idea.
"That it is very possible that she is a distant relative of his."
"Understood!" ~How coincidental Zhuk thought.~
"Commander Reynolds, have Captain Potter and Rezula get their teams together. This has to be done with precision, I want them alive. Now let's go, It's time to put an end to this."
<Matt>

"MOVE! Let me give it a go." He smiled broadly when he saw his captive's eyes widen as he approached with his huge knife.
Grabbing his left forarm, he delicately took the tip of his knife and started to break the skin just inside of the elbow, drawing blood as he ran the sharp edge down along his arm. His screams were music to his ears.
Chaos ensued soon. The alarm went off as their force field collapsed, then a few explosions and before they were rushed by intruders.
