Examiner Emm led the humans through the hall to an open work area. There were a number of Ethelonians in various locations doing research of various types and the majority of them looked up as the little group passed. This was the first time that humans had been on the planet, and very few aliens had been allowed into the primary data storage building.
They arrived at a large table, dominated by a viewer screen and what appeared to be a piece of Federation equipment hooked into it. Emm turned to the Federation officer and gestured at it. "This is a standard information retrieval system that you will be able to use to find the information that you are looking for. You should be able to directly link in one of your scanning devices. I have been told that Ethelon has a information storage technology that is not compatible with your devices, and that a conversion matrix that includes a charge neutralization subroutine is required to get them to work together. I have taken the liberty of having one sent down from your ship. Through your device, you should be able to directly download information directly to your ship."
Commander Pudlo spent a moment examining the setup.
"Is there anything else you need?" Examiner Emm inquired.

(OOC The Darkness Within NPC thread has been updated.)
Location: Ferengi D'Kora Class Starship; The Cert In close orbit around Ethelon IV
Damon Ula had gone down to Deck 4 of the Cert to inspect repairs on a plasma conduit that had been going on and off line for almost an hour now. There was an Engineering team there, and they had failed to repair the problem. He was about to loudly berate their incompetence when he was interrupted by a message calling him to the bridge.
The Ferengi quickly returned to the bridge. He could sense the tension in the air. "Report! he barked.
His operations officer turned to look at him. "Sensors have picked up the faint reflection of a subspace compression wave heading towards our orbit around Ethelon IV from Ethelon III. Based on computer modelling, I think that the Jefferson may have launched a shuttle and it is heading in this direction."
Damon Ula turned to his science officer. "You told me they wouldn't be able to detect us!"
The science officer shrank under the outburst. "They shouldn't be able to, perhaps it is just standard procedure."
Ula nearly continued, but knew that they had very little time, so he quickly sat in his command chair and said "Contact the Daro and that Pakled ship, whatever it's called." Ula shuddered internally. He hated dealing with the Pakleds. They seemed so slow and stupid, but were incredibly devious. Just when you thought you had them where you wanted them, it turned out the opposite was true. The Orion ship Daro might be easier to deal with.
In the meantime, the comm officer had completed the three way conversation. On his main screen, Ula could see Captain Und of the Orion ship Daro and the Pakled commander, Gralg. "There's a Starfleet shuttle heading towards us" Ula said quickly.
The Pakled's face remained characteristically blank, but Cpt Und caught on quickly. "How did they detect us?" he demanded.
"It doesn't matter" Damon Ula replied. "They'll be here soon. We must join together to drive away the Federation."
Gralg the Pakled finally caught up to the conversation. "A shuttle? We are stronger than a shuttle. We will destroy them!" He turned slowly to give some orders.
"NO!" Und and Ula yelled simultaneously, causing the Pakled to turn back around and look at them with surprise. Keeping his patience, Damon Ula explained slowly. "If we destoy the shuttle, the Starfleet ship might attack us."
Gralg looked confused, then appeared to be counting something on his fingers. "We have three ships, they have one ship. We are smart, and have more ships. We will destroy them!" Gralg again turned to give orders to his bridge crew.
"NO! Und and Ula screamed, again simultaneously. This time Gralg turned back much slower and he had a pouting look on his face.
"What now?" he asked, rolling his eyes.
"While the three of our ships might be able to defeat the Jefferson, our ships might be badly damaged or destroyed in the battle. Would you like that? " Captain Und explained slowly.
The Pakled seemed to think for a minute. No, I guess not" he admitted, then brightened up as he came up with an idea. "Perhaps we could merely damage the shuttle and kidnap the crew. Then claim to the Ethelonians that the shuttle malfunctioned and we saved its' crew. If the Jefferson attacks us, we say to the Ethelonians that the Federation attacked us for no reason when we saved their crew." Gralg's face scrunched up as he waited for the Ferengi and Orion to yell at him for a third time.
Damon Ula looked at Captain Und with surprise. That was why the Ferengi hated dealing with the Pakleds. Just when it seemed that they were too stupid to continue breathing, they came up with a devious, underhanded scheme that just might work.

Nathan sat back on the biobed, scrutinizing the senior marine officer. He'd heard a lot about this particular specimen and had heard that manners were not something of a familiarity to him. To his surprise, the marine was more open than he'd expected. "Odd indeed," he replied, "though I'm sure the science officer will have a sensible explanation for this. Perhaps you shou-"
He was interrupted by the call from Colonel Hrisvalar, calling Cyle away. "We'll discuss this later major," he answered, "when the colonel calls, you don't hesitate to answer." The assistant CMO hopped off the biobed just as another call came in.
"Dr. Keller, Dr. van Breughel and Lt. de Silva, please come to Science Lab 1."
He tapped his combadge. "On my way chief, I'll try to raise Doctor Keller again, he didn't answer my page earlier. And I'll get De Silva too. I'll be with you in a minute." Nathan cast Cyle a meaningful glance. "I'll inform Raleva of our findings major, rest assured."
Once Cyle had left sickbay, Nathan tried paging Daran again and again. He still gained no answer. "Computer locate Doctor Daran Keller."
=^= Doctor Keller is in his quarters =^=
Nathan sighed and tapped his combadge again, this time contacting Raleva. "Lieutenant, your presence is required in science lab one," he told the surprised science chief, "I'll meet you and chief Ajur there. I'm going past Daran's quarters to see if he's all right. He's not answering my page."
(raleva)
Leaving Nurse Howell in charge, Nathan headed for his chief's quarters and rang the bell when he arrived. After waiting in vain for several seconds, he finally used his medical override to enter the doctor's quarters. "Daran are you here? Doctor Keller respond! You weren't answering my page and got worried. You didn't answer my page earlier either."

Scene: Briefing Room, Deck 1, USS Jefferson
The fact that Colonel Hrisvalar had a gut feeling that something bad was happening was good enough for him. In fact, it bothered him so much that he needed to find out what really was going on. Something was happening and they needed to know what it was.
"Computer display the scans just completed by the ship," Matt said as he looked at the monitor. At first glance everything looked normal. There were dozens of ships coming and going, just like any other commercial planet. Yet there was something very unusual near the planets orbit.
It was only a slight disturbance. At first he thought it was random atmospheric interference, but it was to localized to be a random occurrence.
"Computer how large is the disturbance?"
"Approximately Length is 781 meters, approximate width is 500 meters, approximate height is 188 meters."
"Could a ship create this type of disturbance?" Matt asked.
"Affirmative."
"What type of ship could could create these specifications?" Matt asked.
"The Galaxy class, D'kora class, Valdore-type warbird, Breen warship. Should I continue?"
"No, out of these ship classes which one has the highest probability of being in this system?" Matt asked.
"The D'kora class."
"Has there been a D'kora class ship in this region of space?" Matt asked.
"Affirmative."
"How long ago?"
"Twenty seven hours, three minutes, and two seconds."
"Computer scan for a D'kora class ship," Matt ordered finding it odd that there initial scans didn't pick up on a Ferengi warship.
"No, D'kora system found."
"That's not possible, no ship can move that fast," Matt said as he exited the room and went to the ops station. This of course confused people on the bridge.
"Commander what are you doing?" Monica asked.
"Computer, please focus scans on this region of space," Matt said. Matt performed some other scans on the area and found that there own shuttle was in the vicinity.
"Jefferson to Major Johnson, please focus your scanners to these coordinates," Matt asked.
"Scans complete"
Matt looked at the scans he had just ordered. He felt the eyes of everyone on the bridge looking at him, but he didn't care. He was sure there was a ship there hiding. He needed to know why.
"Colonel, please look at this," Matt asked as he sent him his findings," I'm pretty sure that a D'kora class ship is trying to evade our scans. Our initial scans picked it up as atmospheric turbulence, but its to constant......"
Matt continued to explain his reasoning to the Colonel and everyone else on the bridge. All he could do now was wait and see what his commanding officer would do with that information.

=^= Major Johnson meet me in the main shuttle bay=^=
The call came in just after Cyle had finished talking with Nathan, and looking at the PADD, he handed the PADD over and stepped out the door, taking the nearest turbo lift to deck 6. When he arrived, the new tactical officer, Lt. Sharp was already waiting. "no need for introductions, I'll take helm" Cyle said simply, moving into the shuttle.
As the shuttle sped forward to wards the planet, Cyle got that same feeling he had in the medical area of the Ethelon planet, 'something is not right' he thought to himself. Shortly after they had left the Jefferson, a call from Commander Reynolds came in, "Jefferson to Major Johnson, please focus your scanners to these coordinates," Matt asked.
"Scans complete" Cyle said to the Lt. after the scans had been completed.
As Lt sharp and Major Johnson scan around Ethelon IV for the mysterious ship. "Major it's a Ferengi D'Kora Class Starship and also other ships in the area from the Pakleds and Orion syndicate".
=^= Lt. Sharp to Jefferson=^= but nothing but static.
"Major where in trouble communications to the Jefferson has been cut out".
"no lieutenant, are communications are being jammed." Cyle said looking over the panels in front of him, "damn, how could i have been so stupid?" Cyle yelled slamming his fists against the panel. "major brace for impact the ferengi just fired on us" Before Cyle could brace himself, the shuttle was rocked by the attack, sending Cyle headfirst into the console in front of him, stunning him. Lt. Sharp took over the console and began evasive maneuvers, while setting a course back for the Jefferson. Cyle tried to get up, but the dizziness took over and he fell back to the ground, unconscious. ~~~~~ On-board the Ferengi ship, Damon Ula was frantic, "you incompetent fools, you are no better than the hew-mons, you only got one officer!" A flurry of wild kicks and punches from the Damon sent his subordinates as far away from his as they could possibly get. ~~~~~

"Is there anything else you need?" Emm asked. Jeff shook his head.
"No, now that I have unit translations and access, I'm set." He replied, sitting down at the terminal. Emm walked sat down and caled up something himself.
Jeff started with the general layout and design of the pads and transporter components. It was not too concentrated, with little need to keep parts small and close like a starship.
Easy to follow.
Jeff just began to get to the wiring layout when his commbadge buzzed, announcing, "Contact with the Jefferson has Been Lost." then fell silent.
"Primary conveyer, we have a problem." Jeff noted though Emmm was already working.
"I'm getting you into the sensor net. It's very detailed, I just need to enter a few codes."
In a few seconds, Jeff was scanning for the Jefferson. "That's odd, the ship is there, but there's some sort of field blocking it.... But I cna't find the origin. Do you have a more sensitive terminal?"

Damon Ula angrily smashed the controls on the arm of his command Chair. "Cpt. Und, Cpt. Gralg. You have to get that shuttle."
On the tactical screen, Ula could see the Pakled ship move to an intercept course for the Federation shuttle while the Orion ship came to a full stop. Ula couldn't figure out what the plan was until a very precise phaser shot from the Orion ship hit the tiny shuttle. The energy smashed through the shields, but merely glanced along the starboard warp nacelle, completely disabling it. The shuttle started to spin and, combined with a loss of thrust, started spiralling towards Ethelon 4. The craft quickly turned into a fiery comet as it disappeared into the atmosphere.
The screen changed to show the captain of the Pakled vessel. "We have the other one."
Ula closed the channel and breathed a sigh of relief. Time to move to the next phase. The Ferengi turned to his tactical officer. "Open a short range channel to the Daro and the Pakled ship so the Jefferson can't monitor our comm signals. Tell them to assume station on us and move out from behind Ethelon IV, while I call the Jefferson. I'm sure the Federation ship will move to intercept us. When they do, tell the Daro and the Pakled ship to move into attack positions on the Jefferson and be as threatening as possible. We will try to scare them away. Raise the shields and power up the main weapons."
Ula received acknowledgement from both ships, then ordered his helm officer to move the Cert from behind Ethelon IV. Once clear of the planet's interference. He could see that the Jefferson had already left the orbit of Ethelon III and was heading their way. Ula immediately opened a channel. "USS Jefferson, this is the Cert. You're shuttle suffered a...severe malfunction and has crashed into Ethelon IV. Fourtunately, due to our intervention, it's crew was saved. But they are in very grave condition."
Ula waited for a response while keeping an eye on his tactical board. He could see with satisfaction that the Daro and Pakled vessel had put up their shields and activated weapons and were assuming tactical positions that were very threatening to the Starfleet ship.

Daran woke up slowly to a voice in his sleep. It sounded vaguely like Nathan. Daran slowly stood up. He had a pounding headache, but that was pretty much it. He stood there, and was surprised when Dr. van Breughel slowly rounded the corner. "Are you alright? You haven't been answering pages."
Daran shook his head, trying to clear the cobwebs. "I'm not sure that I am, Nathan. I don't feel entirely right. What were you calling me about?"
Nathan shook his head in irritation. "PO Ajus has some information on the Ethelonian disease and has requested our presence. Are you able to come?"
Daran nodded. He was feeling better now that he was standing up. "I'm feeling better now. Where are we supposed to meet?"
"Science lab 1" Nathan replied. Staring at the CMO for a moment, Dr. van Breughel pulled out a scanner and medical tricorder and ran it quickly over Dr. Keller, before he could object and examined the results. Everything appeared normal. "I guess that you are alright. We should go. We're supposed to meet Lt. de Silva there as well."
Daran nodded and got his feet moving. "Did Kalan give you any more information about the results of her analysis?"

Location: Royal Palace, Chamber of the Primary Conveyor Ethelon III
The Primary Examiner had been staring out the main windows of his office for over an hour. The problem of what to do with his brother and Council Ther had completely occupied his mind. After long thought, he had finally made his decision. He turned his chair and activated the intercom. His assistant immediately answered. "Yes, sir?"
"Have my brother and Council Ther released from confinement immediately" Nilas ordered.
"Yes sir. Will there be anything else?" his assistant replied.
"Not right now" Nilas said, and closed the channel. He turned his chair so that he was looking back out the window. Confining Ethelonians with viewpoints other than the royal family's had happened in the past, and the Primary Conveyor had fallen into that trap today. No longer. He was still head of state, no matter what his brother and Council Ther might think. He would decide the best course for his planet.
He was happy with his decision, but that was interrupted by the voice of his assistant over the intercom. "Primary Conveyor, our radio telescope array has tracked the Jefferson leaving orbit and heading toward Ethelon IV. In addition, we have three alien ships, identity unknown, that were behind Ethelon IV. All the ships appear to be on an intercept course with one another."
Primary Conveyor Nilas sat up. He had no idea what was going on now, but it didn't sound very good. "Alert the Royal Family and have them sent to the defence bunker under the palace. My brother and I are going to the Planetary Defence Facility."
Nilas stood and walked over to the personal transporter that was in his office. Entering his security code, he was immediately transported to the central location for the defence of Ethelon III. It was over 20 kilometers under the surface and he understood that no transporters other than their own could reach it. He was greeted by General Bego, head of Ethelons' military. "Tell me what's going on" Nilas ordered.
Then general nodded at the display from the planet's radio telescopes. Nilas could see the four ships approaching one another. "The Jefferson just left orbit, and is on an intercept course with three other ships that were hiding behind Ethelon IV. Other alien ships that are in the system are quickly clearing the area. They obviously think that there's going to be a battle" the general said flatly.
"Bring our military readiness to maximum and see if you can get those ships on the radio" Nilas said. The general nodded and turned to execute his orders.

Raleva looked back from Jeff to the examiner and after the examiner's approvals, she motioned to Jeff.
"You review the technical specs available and I'll go have a look at those histories," she said calmly. He nodded in response and the two split up, him moving toward the computerized section to the left and her moving toward the very bookish right.
She reviewed several texts and after a moment she started to get a fairly good view of the planet's history, or atleast, the history that the powers that be wished to present to the public. Raleva had always been an avid reader of histories and she often observed just how different histories of the exact same culture could be; therefore, she had come to be skeptical of what was thrown at her.
Apparently, the Etholonians had been an agriculturally based culture and had been proceeding in the common evolution tract until a sudden innovation. An inventor from the northern-most province had developed a machine that could move one grain of wheat from one point to another. It was originally used to transport mass amounts of equipment, much like the evolution of transporters on Earth. However, the way in which the great inventor came across his breakthrough was rather sketchy. Raleva tore through several volumes looking for more information on his research, what he'd been attempting to do, if he'd come across something like this on accident or had had the intention to transport the grain. There was a name, Ops Nigil, and some vague references to his abilities, but nothing more. Even his life was highly distorted, one volume listed him as an instructor, a research scientist, and a global hero. Reviewing the tomes she started to feel a bit ... congested ... in fact, she continually had the feeling that her throat was closing up. However, she attributed the issues to her being surrounded by dusty books on all fronts and simply cleared her throat. A few moments later she found herself a bit short of breath and hotter than she cared to be, but she wiped the fop sweat from her face and carried on.
=^=Lieutenant, your presence is required in science lab one=^=
The surprise noise made Raleva jump nearly five feet off the ground, but she recovered with as much grace as can be expected. She coughed and tried to stand as she tapped her combadge. She was so lightheaded ...

Examiner Emm turned back to the Federation officer. "I'm sorry, Mr. Pudlo but this is a library, not a planetary defence facility. There is nothing here that can access that kind of information. The best that I could do right now is take you to the Central Defence Facility. They might be able to let you see more than you can here."
"What about Lt. de Silva?" Jeff asked. <Jeff or Raleva>

Condition: Battle Ready, Red Alert.
"Captain, our shuttle has just gone off our sensors," Monica reported," our last scans show that it will crash on the planet in a few minutes."
"What about our people?" Matt asked looking at his sensors which didn't help much.
"I don't know, the atmosphere is still distorting our sensors," Monica responded," we are being hailed."
"USS Jefferson, this is the Cert. You're shuttle suffered a...severe malfunction and has crashed into Ethelon IV. Fortunately, due to our intervention, it's crew was saved. But they are in very grave condition."
Matt didn't believe the Ferengi captain, in fact he was sure that the ships weapons were on line. His suspicious were confirmed shortly thereafter.
"Captain, I'm reading two more ships flanking the Cert, there weapons and shields are active," Monica reported. This was not good. As long as they held two of there officers, they had an upper hand.
"Captain, the Ethelonsians have gone to battle readiness," Monica reported," what are your orders?"

"Did Kalan give you any more information about the results of her analysis?"
Nathan shook his head while hovering close to his chief; ready to catch him should he be unsteady on his feet. He noted that Daran looked tired, and though his readings showed that the CMO was fit, the aCMO was still a little worried. Especially since Daran never responded to his hails. "Are you sure you're all right?" he repeated.
Just then, Raleva's response came through. =^=Acknowl-- (cough and a sharp intake of breath followed by the sound of something hitting a floor)=^=
Daran and Nathan exchanged a worried glance, as Nathan tapped his own combadge. "Transporter room, lock on Lieutenant De Silva's signature and beam her straight to sickbay!" Not checking whether Daran was following or not, Nathan sprinted out of the CMO's quarters, straight back to sickbay.
When he got there, the transporter chief had already transported the science chief to sickbay. "Raleva?" He tried to catch her attention as he approached but she didn't respond. She looked a little pale and she was gasping for breath. "Try to breathe easy," he said encouragingly while slipping a respirator mask over her face, "can you tell me what happened?"
Nathan took only a few seconds to inform Ajus that he was at present unable to join her in the science lab, but that Daran was on his way. "Raleva I need you to tell me how you feel," Nathan insisted, focussing on his patient again, "my instruments are not reading anything wrong with you. You don't seem to be infected with anything so I need to know where you've been, and what you've been doing. While you think on this I am going to inform the colonel that you've fallen sick."
Lightly he caressed her cheek. "Rest a little and think on what you're going to tell me. I'll be right back." He stepped away a little, but not so far that he lost sight on his patient. "Sickbay to bridge. Colonel we have a problem; Lieutenant De Silva has fallen ill, but I can't find anything wrong with her."

A blinking light caught his attention, and his eyes went wide when Cyle saw what it was, quickly bracing for impact. THe small shuttle shook from the blast, and spun out of control, Cyle sat holding on as long as he could, only to lose his grip and get thrown into the back of the shuttle, where he somehow manage to keep himself from moving anywhere else in the shuttle.
The small shuttle careened out of control and smashed into the the palent, Ethelon IV, leaving a small crater.

Zhuk's suspicions had been confirmed when the shuttle was attacked. The Jefferson had already broken orbit, heading in the same direction when three ships appeared, positioning themselves in attack formation. Zhuk noted their weapons and shields were all activated.
Zhuk allowed for the incoming transmission to be put on the main viewer. "USS Jefferson, this is the Cert. You're shuttle suffered a...severe malfunction and has crashed into Ethelon IV. Fortunately, due to our intervention, it's crew was saved. But they are in very grave condition."
Zhukarak looked over at Matt, each not trusting the Ferengi that was onscreen.
"Captain, the Ethelonians have gone to battle readiness," Monica reported," what are your orders?"
Zhukarak wasn't too worried about that, it only made sense to him that the Ethelonians had noticed what was about to happen in their space. "Shield up, hold on the weapons."
Zhukarak motioned to open the com link. "I am Colonel Hrisvalar of the USS Jefferson. We both know that you and/or your associates are the cause for this incident. I don't know what you are trying to 'PROFIT' from this, but I assure you that nothing will be gained if you decide to engage us. I should warn you, I don't think the Ethelonian Defence Force is taking sides." Zhukarak was referring to their battle readiness and they had every reason to shoot everyone out of their skies.
A call about Raleva came through, but it would have to wait.

Daran was about to go after Nathan to sickbay to see if Raleva was alright, but decided against it. Nathan could handle whatever the problem was, and he was beginning to sense that there was something going on between the two of them. Something else for him to keep an eye on...
The CMO continued on his way to Science Lab 1 and walked in through the door. PO Ajus looked up as he entered. "I just got a message from Dr. van Breughel. Apparently Lt. de Silva is injured."
Daran nodded. "I'm sure that Nathan will call me if he needs me. In the meantime, what have you discovered?"
Kalan turned to her monitor, where the results of her analysis were showing. "I haven't really discovered anything. There doesn't seem to be any common factor that affects them. But my real problem is that the Ethelonians aren't as advanced as we are in their medical technology. I think that the problem is inside their DNA. They have provided no DNA samples and there is no information in here to compare to. If we're going to solve this, we need to get some medical teams onto the surface to do some direct sampling."
As Kalan finished talking the ship went to Red Alert and both of them looked over in surprise at the flashing red lights. "All right, start creating teams and getting them ready to go. I'll go to Sickbay."
Kalan nodded and started pulling up the personel roster as Daran left.
Dr. Keller left Science Lab 1 with every intention of heading to Sickbay, but while on his way there his head started to pound. Of their own accord, his feet started heading towards his quarters. Once there, he barely made it to the nearest couch, where he collapsed.

Location: The Bridge of the Cert.
"Damon Ula, the Ethelonians are trying to contact us by radio" the comm officer reported.
The Ferengi captain shook his head. "I don't want to talk to those primitives right now, but you can let them listen to our conversation with the hew-mons. Perhaps they will say something stupid."
The comm officer nodded and started cross patching the conversation. As he was working, he noticed that the Jefferson was hailing them, and he put it through the main speakers. "I am Colonel Hrisvalar of the USS Jefferson. We both know that you and/or your associates are the cause for this incident. I don't know what you are trying to 'PROFIT' from this, but I assure you that nothing will be gained if you decide to engage us. I should warn you, I don't think the Ethelonian Defence Force is taking sides."
Damon Ula summoned his wits. He had to trap this Starfleet commander into saying or doing something while the Ethelonians were listening that would stop the diplomatic negotiations between them and the Federation. "I'm afraid that I have no idea what you're talking about, Col. Hrisvalar. Your shuttle malfunctioned all by itself and we and the Pakleds were lucky to get the two crew off. Unfortunately, they are both too seriously injured to be transported right now They are in our Sickbays, getting excellent care. As for engaging you, I have no plan to do that. I'm just being cautious, as are the other ships. The Orions, Pakled and Ferengi know from long experience how hostile and aggressive Starfleet is."
<Col. Hrisvalar>
Damon Ula giggled to himself. This was actually a lot of fun. And their commander was a colonel. He must be a Starfleet Marine. It should be easy to goad him into doing something foolish. He motioned to his tactical officer, who manuevered the Cert into a better attack position.
Location: Surface of Ethelon IV, near Biodome L701.
Tran Rec was a surveyor. He had been examining the surface of Ethelon IV, trying to figure out the best location for a new biodome, as the ones that were already on the surface were nearing their full capacity. He had been scanning and recording what he thought was a good location when a loud boom came to him through the thin atmosphere. He looked up to see what appeared to be a slow moving meteorite heading his way. Without much hope, he quickly took shelter behind a pile of rocks as the thing approached.
He waited longer than he thought was necessary, but there was no loud explosion. The Ethelonian cautiously stuck his head out from behind the rocks, only to see what appeared to be a badly damaged spaceship using emergency thrusters still coming in. The vehicle was slowing, but still plowed into the surface, coming to a stop less than 100 metres from where he was.
Carefully, Tran Rec approached the smoking ship. He pulled out his recording device as he walked up and took pictures. He first looked into the viewports of the shuttle, but it appeared no one was inside. He then examined the exterior. There was a lot of damage from the crash, but the worst of it was one of the nacelles, which had obviously been hit by some type of beam weapon. He scanned all of it, took more pictures, than contacted his headquarters with his radio.
"This is surveyor Tran Rec. I just witnessed a shuttle crash. It appears that it was in some kind of a battle. I think someone with some authority should see the pictures and readings that I have taken" the Ethelonian reported.
"All right. Prepare for transport" Tran stood still, then abruptly dematerialized.

The brig of the Cert.
As LT. Sharp wakes up he notices hes in a small room and theres a forcefield in front of him. Thinking to himself aand hoping that the major made it back the Jefferson.
LT. Sharp looks around his surroundings and notices that theres 1 ferengi on guard duty. "Sharp muttering to himself stupid ferengi don't they know that they shouldn't have 1 guard on duty". Theres a console outside the forcefield and the ferngi is armed with a phaser and a whip. "Sharp thinking to himself this is way to easy.
Sharp sits down and takes of the back of his boots heels and out of the left boot heel theres a small electronic device and in the right boot heel is another small electronic device and Shar puts them together. Then Sharp pulls out a standard stun pahser out of his right boot.
Sharp takes the small electronic device and uses it to short out the forcefield. Then takes the pahser and stuns the ferengi. Sharp drags the ferengi into the brig and reactivates the forcefield after he lexits the brigg.
Sharp then takes the ferengi's phaser and makes his way to the ferengi bridge and as he enters the ferengi bridge he sees the ferengi damon talking to col.Hrisvalar.

Zhukarak listened to the Ferengi lie through his sharp teeth. He wanted nothing more than to show him who here had the upper hand, but they were on a diplomatic mission.
"You'll notice that we did not raise our weapons as you have, we show no hostilities nor aggression. In fact, I thank you for taking care of my crew. I would like to send one of my doctors to your ship to examine them, also you won't mind if I send a recovery team to the crash site of my shuttle, would you?"

Damon Ula's amusement evaporated at light speed as a result of Hrisvalar's requests. An examination of either the crash site or the prisoners would expose him. So, of course, examinations had to be avoided. Ula was about to answer when the door to the bridge slid open. Ula glanced over to see his Federation prisoner standing there. In desperation, Ula closed the channel to the Jefferson and yelled "Restrain the hew-mon!!" then ducked behind his command chair and drew his disruptor.
The Ferengi bridge was abruptly filled with the sound of a phaser shot as the human fired at the closest of the bridge crew. That Ferengi collapsed in a heap and the rest stopped in fear, allowing the human a second shot, hitting the comm officer. Damon Ula, realizing that if the human was firing at someone else wasn't pointing a weapon at him, quickly stood up from his hiding spot and fired, hitting the human in the chest. The Federation officer started to fall, but slowly pointed his weapon at Ula, so the Damon fired again and the human fell to the floor, unconscious.
"Get him back to the brig, and seach him properly this time" Damon Ula snarled. He sighed in relief as the human was removed and quietly thanked the Grand Nagus that he had had a voice only channel open to the Jefferson. Ula re-established the connection. "My apologies, Col. Hrisvalar. We had a temporary communications malfunction. What were you saying?'
"I told you that I would like to examine my officers that you have captured and look at the crash site on Ethelon IV" the colonel grated.
"I'm afraid that I would have to lower my shields to allow your doctors aboard, and that would leave us open to attack by you. As a commander, I can't allow that danger to my crew. I'm sure that as a fellow captain you would understand." Ula said grandly, praying to the Grand Nagus that the Jefferson would attack or Hrisvalar would say or do something to scuttle their negotiations. "As for the crash site, I have no jurisdiction on Ethelon IV. You should speak to the Primary Conveyor. It's his planet. If he gives his permission, you can look at the crash site all you want. If he does, I would like to send my own team down as well, to confirm your findings. I know how the Federation does things."
<Hrisvalar>
Ula was starting to get nervous. The longer he spoke, the more chance there was that he would make a mistake. However, he had to delay the shuttle exam as long as possible and hope there was nothing left to look at after the crash, or that his team could destroy what evidence there was.

The conversation between the Ferengi and the captain went on for a few minutes. The captain was smart enough to stay as diplomatic possible. This allowed the bridge crew to perform some more extensive scans. The Jefferson was still unable to penetrate Ethelon IV's atmosphere, so they were not able to scan there shuttle.
"Captain, I can assemble an away team in five minutes," Matt said looking at the Ferengi," the Captain can also transport our two officers in there shuttle. I will bring along our doctor so they can take care of there injuries."
"Captain, we can contact the Primary Conveyor immediately, I'm sure he wouldn't like any type of conflict in his space," Matt said wanting to smack the Ferengi. The Federation and definitely the Jefferson would never try to cover anything up.

Cyle moaned softly as he awoke with a very large head ache. Rolling over on his side, he gasped in pain, suddenly realizing he had hurt his ribs, his best guess was only a crack, as he had no problems breathing. 'I really hope the colonel lets me deal with those Pakleds' Cyle thought as he slowly got to his knees, still hunched over.
With a deep breath and a quick sigh, he pulled himself up to his feet, taking a quick look at the inside of the shuttle, which was not surprisingly, practically destroyed. to his left, Cyle noticed his phaser, and an emergency med-kit. He reached over, painfully, and grabbed the phaser and kit. "If only i really knew who use one of these" Cyle said looking at the kit.
Within the next few minutes, Cyle had managed to semi-bandage himself up, take some pain medicine, and look over what was left of the consoles, which did little to help him, however they did mention that he was no longer flying.
Cyle made his way over to the shuttle door, and tried to pry the door open, to his dismay, it didn't move, he looked around for some kind of blunt object, which turned out to be a pipe, and started beating on the door, more out of anger and frustration than anything.
Little did Cyle know, if he had managed to open the door, he wouldn't be breathing. Finally dropped the heavy pipe, Cyle moved back over to the consoles, and started to salvage as much as he could, all while thinking 'i wish grace was here'

Daran woke up suddenly and looked around. He was lying on the couch in his quarters. He had barely managed to walk that far after he had been transported before he collapsed. His head felt like it was splitting in two. Blearily, he looked over at the nearest clock, convinced that he had slept for at least 12 hours, but was shocked to find that less than 20 minutes had passed since he had returned to his quarters.
Slowly, Daran sat up and placed his head in his hands. He hadn't had a headache this bad in years. That Romulan ale that he had drank with Fellana must provide more kick than he thought. Perhaps a shower with actual water would help. As a doctor he knew that his brain was dehydrated as a result of the alcohol. A real shower would help.
Gingerly, he staggered to his washroom and activated the sonic shower, then changed the program to water only. Shrugging off his uniform, he climbed in and stood under the spray. His head actually felt better almost immediately. Daran closed his eyes and let the water flow over him. However, some odd shapes danced in the darkness of his eyes. They were extremely unusual and he watched them, losing contact with his body as he was lost in the waltz.
Eventually, he became convinced he was looking at DNA strands, but ones that were behaving in very strange ways. It seemed that the strands he was envisioning could interact with and break down any DNA it came in contact with, even alien DNA. He saw the equations and chemical interactions in his head, and the calculations ran faster and faster. In a small corner of his mind, Daran realized that he would normally require an extremely powerful computer to do work like this, but the thought was lost in the exhilaration of what he was doing.
Finally, the swirling left his mind, leaving behind a very clear plan.
Daran needed to find a computer.

Nathan had been sitting beside Raleva's bed for several hours now, but there had been no change in her condition. She hadn't been able to tell him what had happened to her or when she'd started to feel sick. So far his investigations into the matter had come up empty as well and he hadn't had a chance to talk to the petty officer just yet. He was very concerned about Raleva and his staff stayed clear from him because they in turn worried about the doctor's current mood. They knew he could get moody if something didn't go as planned.
Nathan on his part hadn't failed to notice his staff stayed clear from him, yet he didn't seem to care. Caressing Raleva's hair one more time after checking her readings, he decided to pay the bridge a visit. The colonel had assured him he'd be getting back on his page, but so far that hadn't happened. And while Nathan understood full well that a captain's job was a busy one, promises were still promises and a captain's job was to make sure his crew stayed safe. Raleva hadn't been able to stay safe; she'd fallen ill and she was not in a good shape.
Taking the nearest turbolift to the bridge, Nathan leaned back against the car wall, sighing miserably. Daran hadn't come back to sickbay, and Ajus hadn't reported back to him either. He had never felt more useless in his life. At least Freddy had been behaving himself, despite one of his cats escaping from the office repeatedly.
Somewhat uncertainly, he stepped from the turbolift onto the bridge, finding it somewhat in disarray and far too crowded for his liking. It was rather hard not to miss the marine commanding officer on the bridge, his blue skin and antennae stood out like a lighthouse over a bay. "Colonel?" he called, trying to catch the Andorian's attention, "Colonel a minute please?"
He walked over to the marine and quietly informed him of Raleva's condition. "It's not something she could've picked up on the ship otherwise we'd have had data on it. She must've contracted this on the planet, but so far I'm stumped on where and how. Perhaps the Ethelonians can be of assistance? Also, I'm a little worried about Daran, he seems very absentminded and he never returned to duty. I am at a point where I could use some sleep too..." He smiled ruefully but his eyes showed how tired he actually was, and how worried.
