“The lounge was full of officers crewmen and civilians alike who were there enjoying free time off. In a corner a jukebox was playing popular music and several women were close by, dancing as a group.
“The bartender and waitresses had their hands full.
“Cmdr Matthew scanned the crowd for familiar faces yet found none. He chucked to himself for expecting to recognize someone.
“Without much else to do, he made his way towards a table near the forward facing windows.
“Looking beyond the transparent steel view port, as the Stars pass James saw his reflection in the view port.
“No sooner had he taken a seat when a waitress was standing beside the table.
"What can I get you commander," she asked politely.
"I'll have a Glass of water," James replied as he flipped open the food menu.
"Wouldn't you prefer something stronger? The bartender makes a great City Island iced tea."
"No thanks, I’m still on duty “
“This is my Dinner break and my Little time away from the bridge."
She smiled and made her way to the bar. Matthew sighed.
The waitress, her name was Melody, was back a few minutes later with his food “ Melody enjoy Commander”

"On my way commander," T'Val replied, as she closed down her terminal. She tapped her chief nurse, a broad shouldered afro-american male named Henry Onares on the shoulder as she stepped out of her office. "I will be on the bridge," she told him, "Rayna should be arriving soon for duty. Please show her how to work the dermal regenerator, as well as a cortical stimulator."
"yes ma'am," Onares replied, his spot-white teeth showing as he grinned down on the Vulcan doctor. With his one meter and ninety centimeters, he quite towered over the short healer but she didn't seem to mind. "How long will you be out of sickbay?"
"I do not know," T'Val replied, as she walked past him to pick up her portable med-kit, which she always took with her whenever she left sickbay for any other reason but to go off duty. "I will send Yade if it takes longer than thirty minutes." She nodded at the green firelizard, which sat perched quietly on her right shoulder, her long tail wrapped loosely around T'Val's throat for balance.
A few minutes later, she entered the readyroom. "You called?" she enquired, then saw both Matthew and Loskene look up from a quiet conversation. She gazed directly at Matthew. "You had some questions for me," she stated bluntly.

ooc: T'Val is a civillian healer, not a commander or any military rank. If anything, please address her as Healer, or Doctor, or just by her name.
ic:
"As I stated during the briefing, I believe that Starfleet as well as the Federation Council are using the Jefferson and her crew as guinea pigs," T'Val repeated irritably. She wasn't used to having to repeat herself. "We do not know what this nebula may do to us. I propose we send a probe in first, to gather information and based on the telemetry coming back from the probe we could decide to send a shuttlecraft in. It is pointless to put an entire ship at risk, when a task can be done by only a few people who are qualified to see to it that information is gathered."
She folded her arms over her chest, and gazed from the commanding officer to the first officer, and back to the commanding officer. The faces of both men were blank, and for some odd reason she wasn't even getting an emotional reading from either of them, where usually she could at least read Loskene. ~either they have learned to shield their minds, or they are not realizing that they are not giving off any emotional reading~ she thought, surprise briefly visible on her own face.
"As your chief medic, I am obliged to point out the medical risks, if there is anything that may even remotely affect the crew. We should not reclessly enter a nebula we know near to nothing about."

The work on the Mark 9 was taking longer than expected. Matt had split everyone into groups of seven which turned out to be ten groups in total. The only thing that kept everyone happy was the fact that Deck 22 was exceptionally big.
"Commander, do you think realigning the system array will push efficiency up 23%?" a science crewman asked. Matt had been getting these types of questions every five seconds or so. Right now he was extremely agitated and annoyed. He was about to scream at the young crewman but he held his tongue. He held it until it bleed. The bitter taste of blood calmed him down, but Matt realized that he needed a break and if he didn't get it right now he would blow up.
"Ensign Daya, you are in charge while I am gone," Matt said as he walked out of the cargo bay.
<Tag Daya>
Kristin Hope
It had been a very long boring day. She had decided to do shift one through three. Much to the surprise of the rest of her department. Kristin wouldn't say anything, but she of course had seen some of her department daydreaming and trying to not fall asleep. Kristin found it very funny, but kept on working.
Now she was on the turbolift waiting to go to her quarters, but like always luck was against her. The turbolift stopped and as it opened a repugnant smell entered the confined space. The smell emanated from who else, but Commander Reynolds. She quickly smiled at the young man and backed farther away from him. The smell was just too overwhelming, it was even worse than the first time they had met.
"You really stink, you know that Matt," Kristin said as she started breathing through her mouth. Matt realized that it was true, he really did stink, but that was what eight hours of manual labor would do to a person.
"Yeah I know, Kristin, but at least my eyes aren't blood shot," Matt said chuckling, “it seems that someone has been sleeping on their shift." Kristin could not say anything because it was true. She had dismissed the entire Delta shift two hours early and she somehow for the first time fell asleep at her station.
"I take your silence as a yes," Matt said.
"Well it was a really slow day," Kristin said trying to reason her actions, but it didn't work. Matt was just standing there laughing as the turbolift did its work.
"See so you can't say anything," Matt said still chuckling.
"Well at least I don't have grime on my face," Kristin said as she took her finger and wiped it off. Her finger lingered on his face until she realized what she was doing. The next moments were really awkward between the two, the only reason the tension was broken was the fact that the turbolift stopped.
"Ummm...Kristin I will see you later," Matt said as he walked out and headed towards his quarters. Kristin was left there thinking of what she had just done.
"You stupid idiot, he thinks your desperate," Kristin said aloud since no one was in the turbolift with her. It didn't really matter, what was done was done and she couldn't change it.
Matt Reynolds
She likes me, Matt thought. This thought kept repeating itself in his head which brought a huge smile to his face. He really had liked the Kristin since the day he had met her. She was independent, intelligent, and most of all she spoke her mind. Something that unfortunately some women still did not do, even in the 24th century. Matt finally reached his quarters much to the dismay of his goldfish Zelda. He seriously thought that even she could smell him, if that was true, than he must really stink. Matt shrugged that off and headed towards the shower. Many people liked sonic showers, but nothing beat a real shower. Water running down your back and chest cleaning all the slime and grime off your body, nothing could ever beat that.
Matt just stood there under the water head letting the water run, he was extremely tired and didn’t want to move, but when the water started to go cold, Matt realized that he must have been there for over thirty minutes. Matt thought that maybe he had fallen asleep in the shower.
Matt quickly put on some sweatpants and started to stretch. One thing that Matt would always do no matter how tired he was; practice a form of martial arts. Many people still thought that martial arts were just kicking and punching, but it was much more. Matt had long ago realized that it could be used as a muscle re-laxer and they had a calming effect on him. After fifteen minutes of practice, Matt fed Zelda and went to bed.
As soon as Matt hit the bed, the comm went off.
=^=Quindara to Reynolds, sorry to wake you sir, but we have just reached our coordinates=^=
=^=Thanks Lt. I’ll be there in a few minutes=^=
=^=Understood sir. Is there anything else? =^=
=^=Get me the senior science officer ASAP=^=
=^=Yes sir=^=
One thing about being a Starfleet officer was the fact that your job never ended. Matt quickly got dressed and headed towards the bridge. Matt arrived at a record pace, and when he saw the dubbed Jefferson Qualinost Cloud. It was a magnificent, beautiful site. It took Matt’s breath away, which Matt thought must have been the reaction of most of the people on the bridge.
“Lt. Johnson stop the ship,” Matt ordered finally taking charge.
<Tag Johnson>
“Aye sir,”
“Commander Reynolds to Admiral Loskene, we have arrived at our destination,”
“Good, I’ll be on the bridge in a few minutes”
“Nicole contact Commander Matthews and tell him the same information please,” Matt said to his second as he sat down at the Admiral’s chair and looked into the heart of the cloud.

Jeff was in engineering- The cutting beam and ablative armor had taken some doing. In fact, not all of the Ablative Armor was on the probes yet. "That's okay." he muttered to himself. "We still have to cut the darned thing open first..." He went down to the forward tractor beam power relay. He hadn't wanted to compromise weapons in the case that they might need them in the cloud, so He had flaunted the normal Cutting beam approach in favor of a tractor beam modification. The relay itself was quite unexciting- it looked like a wall with t grips. He grabbed the T-grips, twisted them into horizontal position, and reached into the power systems inside. "Shrink the control panels..." he grumbled as he fumbled with the small pad. A second later, the status light went from Red, to Orange, to Blue- functioning, but not like normal. And he had no intention of reprogramming the computer to tell it that was normal either. "Done." he grunted in satisfaction, putting the pate back on. Above his head, the status indicator showed that he had been successful. He headed to the Turbolift- the bridge would be a lot more interesting.

Daya left about 10 minutes after Matt had, and he let the other go as well, it was getting late he wanted them rested. Daya pratically ran to his quarters where he took a shower, and sast on his bed for a while.
The ensign he left at his station informed him that they had arrived. He arrived shortly before Matt did and took his station.
Reynolds got the ship stopped, then the FO and CO stepped out of the ready room.

"Cutting beam ready." Jeff reported from the engineering station. "We have about half of the probes outfitted with ablative armor, we're still working on the rest. Engineering is ready. It's Mr. Raynold's show from here."
The feeling on the brige tensed. Everybody knew that something was going to happen soon- what, nobody really knew. Somebody had their control panel set to origingal Excelsior class settings, sounding much louder then normal. Everyone was waiting for the first step- Everyone wanted to know what was inside there.
Jeff couldn't stand it. he called up an old Earth Cartoon on one of the Auxilarry screens near the engineering station- Some Rabbit and Duck were running around, confusing an accented hunter. "The cloud..." Jeff ventured aloud. "Could that thing be hunting us?"

Cmdr Matthew> mister Daya Take us to red alert all weapons targeted on the black cloud.
"Cutting beam ready." Jeff reported from the engineering station. "We have about half of the probes outfitted with ablative armor, we're still working on the rest. Engineering is ready."
Cmdr Matthew > Cmdr Reynolds its your show now.
Matt had quietly gotten to his station and started the pre-emptive countdown to make contact with the cloud. Matt had quickly got everything ready and started Phase One.
"Activating the Long-Range Anti-proton beam," Matt said aloud so everyone knew what was happening step by step. The blue light from the beam hit the cloud and dissipated. The color that arose from the interaction of the beam and the cloud made a rainbow of colors. It truly was a beautiful site.
"Receiving initial data," Matt said as his console started fill with data. It was truly a scientific marvel, Matt still didn't know if it was man-made, but the cloud was nothing that he had seen before.
"Admiral the cloud is made up of an unknown element," Matt said which caused a flurry of murmurs and speculations.
"Ensign Puhlo activate the cutting beam," Matt ordered. The cutting beam was promptly activated and headed to wards the cloud. The beam cut through the cloud like butter, and automatically the cloud responded to the intrusion. Plasma burst quickly arose on the barrier of the cloud and the Jefferson barely missed the larger ones.
"Get us 10,000km back," Admiral Loskene ordered Lt. Johnson.
Once the cutting beam was deactivated the plasma storm stopped and everything went back to normal. Matt didn't understand what had just happened, it seemed like the cloud felt pain and was trying to defend itself. Of course Matt wouldn't say anything at the present moment.
"Admiral do we have a go?" Matt asked hoping that the storm wouldn't stop the Admiral's scientific curiosity.
"Yes Commander," he responded.
"Cargo Bay 22 launch the probes," Matt said over the comm. The probes were released and they headed into the cut out section of the cloud. Everything was going as plan until all seven probes stopped 40,000 km inside the cloud.
"Admiral, all probes have been stopped, but they are still sending us telemetry," Matt said. The information that the probes were sending were amazing. The cloud seemed to have created a nucleic area around the probes. It almost reminded him of jello.
"Is it safe to enter?" Admiral Loskene asked. Matt had to check the data five time to make sure, but he was certain that for now the cloud was safe.
"Yes sir"

"Is it safe to enter?" Admiral Loskene asked.
"Yes sir." Came Reynolds' reply.
Johnson tensed. "Sir, recommend extreme caution. We've only been here five minutes. We don't know what that anomaly is, where it came from or what it'll do to the the ship. If you want me to pilot us inside that thing, I can, but without knowing more about this anomaly, I can't guarantee that we'll get out again."

Matt full heartly agreed with the Lt. logic, which caused Matt to scream at himself mentally for not thinking about that. Data could tell them things, but once they were doing it anything could happen.
"Admiral I highly recommend that we follow Lt. Johnson's recommendation," Matt said," as we know it the cloud is not going anywhere and we cannot be to overly cautious."
<Tag Loskene>
The admiral had given them two hours to find all the information they could get. Matt quickly got up from his station and motioned for Lt. Daya and Lt. Johnson to follow him to the conference room.
"Well gentelmen I need your help, Lt. Daya you are good with science and I need you to check and double check the data we are recieving. Lt. Johnson you are going to pilot the ship so you right now are the most important person here. So anything you want to know, I'm here to help," Matt said knowing that the two officer's in front of him would do everything in there power to keep the Jefferson safe.

"I would also Advise caution sir. The probes just stopped short in there." Jeff remarked. "While we could push our way through a liquid or similar matter, it would consume a lot of Fuel, and I would not be able to garentee the Jefferson being able to get out."
"What would you reccomend should we enter?" Commaneder Matthew asked.
"Five minutes in the cloud, then pullout and evaluate our Data. less if the seilds strain beyond 70% normal operating compacity."
"Is that a red line figure?" Admiral Loskene asked, his voice carring with it athority and decsion.
"No, it's an advisory one. Red line figures depend on how far in we are and what it's like in there. 70% is my best guess."

"Well, I just finished fixing this ship up I don't want to ruin her too quickly... Of course, the maintainace and damage control teams know the ship better then ever now." Jeff lightly noted. "However, shouldn't we wiat until we've fully anilized the data from the probes before we go in? Or, we could send a sampling probe to figure out what's in there."
"That sounds like a wise idea." T'val spoke up. "I have expressed concerns already about sending the ship in- If we must, it is logical that we do all that we can to prepare for it."
"Should I ready a probe?" Jeff asked
"What would you have to do?" Commander Matthew asked, confused. "it's just a probe."
"A sampling probe stops at it's target, and uses small thusters to pull back so we can safley retrive it. Those thusters have to armed if we would have it come back."
"Go ahead... and launch the thing." Admrial loskine told Jeff.
"Arming... Launch."
The probe exploded out of the ship, and came within a hundred yards of the Cloud before a bolt of high energy plasma shot out and destroyed it.
On the bridge, the crew looked on in astonishment...
"I get the feeling we're not welcome."Jeff commented dryly.

"I get the feeling we're not welcome."Jeff commented dryly. Matt didn't understand what had just happened. It didn't make since. He had just sent in seven high class probes into the cloud and nothing like that had happened.
Matt quickly started to gather the data that had just been recorded. The plasma bolt was nothing that he had ever encountered before. It seemed that it was aimed at the probe. Matt had never seen this, but he had read a Voyager mission file that seemed eriely familar to what had just happened.
"Mr. Reynolds, what just happened?" Admiral Loskene asked.
"Well sir, to be honest I don't know, but my best guess was that the plasma was directed at us."

Loskene became visually frustrated and stood up to address the doctor.
Loskene: Healer...or Doctor, whichever you prefer, I thought I had made myself clear at the briefing that we would indeed be cautious and not go head first into this. The science department is already preparing probes for entry, and we will be using long range sensors as well. Once we ascertain that it is safe, we will indeed enter the cloud or nebula...whatever it is. I do believe I made that clear. Or perhaps it would be a good idea for you to take notes?
T'Val seemed slightly taken aback by the admiral's demeanor.
Loskene: If for some reason we encounter problems inside, I know who to count on. Now if you'll excuse me, I have work to do.
Loskene went to work on a padd.
Loskene: Number one, if that's all, you may leave as well.
Both officers slowly shuffled out of the room. Once they left, Loskene put the padd down and headed to his window, and stood, peering out at the stars. And on a nearby round table, the hands of an old alarm clock (which was passed down to Loskene as a gift from the former CO, Commodore Iceman) began to move slowly backwards...

~take notes?~ T'Val thought, taken aback by the outburst ~seems it might not be a bad idea, come to think of it. Yet, I still do not like the idea of entering this nebula with the entire ship~ She had never seen Loskene in this kind of mood and quickly exited the readyroom when she was dismissed.
Deep in thought, she walked back to her office in sickbay, colliding with Rayna as she entered. The two women both lost their balance, and fell down onto the deck. "Whoah!" Rayna exclaimed, as she helped her friend back to her feet. "What's gotten into you!"
T'Val looked up. "I do not know," she admitted. ~but I do know~ she thought, as an image of Doctor Mercy came to mind ~how am I ever going to tell Tedak?~ She felt extremely guilty about it, and she did still love Tedak, but she had feelings for Mercy as well. "Has anything happened while I was on the bridge?"
Rayna nodded. "Quartermaster brought in a list of new joinees. There's a new counselor, you should go meet him. His name is Lobel, he's an ensign." The Romulan regarded her Vulcan friend. "Might do you good to talk to him too T'Val."
T'Vals eyes flashed angrily. "I will decide that for myself. I will now go see if the counselor is available for introduction, and compulsary physical." She stalked out of sickbay, and by the time she reached the counselor's office, her face was one unreadable mask once more, her demeanor as aloof as was common to Vulcans.
"Ensign Lobel?" she called, as she opened the door to the office.

Cdr Reynolds and his team has made all of there adjustments to the seven Mark 9 probe just in time the probe was launch into the Black cloud all seven probes stopped 40,000 km inside the cloud. and has begin to transmit data back to the ship’
“Never the Less the science Department is having a banner day so far at this time Cdr Reynolds information the inside of the black cloud in made up of and this in not a scientific faze some Jelly type Matter”
“Monitoring of the Black Cloud Continues we hope to Learn more as time go on Admiral Loskene Has given orders that under no reason is the Jefferson to go into the black cloud and I have to Agree with him’
“The seven probes we launch could not penetrate no more then 40,000 km inside the cloud to try to do it with the Jefferson would be Criminal to say the less as well as just Dangerous to the officers & crew.
.
“On a Ship personal matter we just got a ship counselor on board finally after aggravating the fleet personal officer for months now a ensign Lobel came on board I ordered him to see Doctor T,Val first for his compulsory physical after that report back to me”
“I have not had the time to look over Ensign Tosin Lobel Academy & star fleet record yet I just Hope he can Handel the Head Counselor position on a Starship but time will tell.
Computer End log."

The scientists had gone to their labs, and Jeff had gone to his. The Engineering and invention lab, as it was artfully called, was an area with power supplies and a complex replicator- and was shielded with all sorts of shielding and isolation equipment. To get in there required the permission of the Chief engineer or higher. Jeff had a project going- he was trying to invent a new type of probe, one that would be capable f analysis, and be able to send that back rather then just raw data. He was doing pretty well, but it involved miniaturizing a lot of equipment, and this probe would already be larger then normal, the way it was going. "Development log, entry 3 in this series. time..." he paused, momentarily confused by the time. he hadn't been working as long as he thought... "time 1830 hours. thinking perhaps to re invent probes as a series, one foe each type of lab. One bio-chem, one developmental physics, one exobiology, ex cetera. Bio chem probe almost finished: i just need to fit in two more instruments and test."
He worked about an hour more as the ship moved into evening mode- the lights dimmed, except the special work area ones. Finally, he had the instruments installed. "Development log, entry 4, series 19. time...." He looked at the clock. "Time not as it seems. reads 1737 hours." He paused. "All ready to test. Copying pattern into replicator. Close series."
Jeff rant to the intercom. "Admiral, time is running backwards." He practically shouted, not waiting for a confirmation. "Check the clock. ships clock- any clock- Time is Wrong. Repeat: Time is Running Backwards. Not a computer Failure."

"I'm not exactly a science expert, but I'll do what i can"
Daya went to work on the data, he kept analyzing it and checking. Every time he got a moment, he checking the time. For the first few hours his work reflected the time. but after that, he notice he seemed to be getting more done faster.
Going to a replicator, he got a cup of coffee. He sat down for moment and sipped his cup. 'somethings not right' he thought to himself.
=^= Daya to Commander Reynolds=^=
=^= Go ahead=^=
=^= I've analyzed most of the data, and things seem to be in good order=^=
=^= thats good to hear=^=
=^= theres more, does it seem like your getting more done faster? or is it just me?=^=

Loskene was in his ready room, Matthew was elsewhere, presumably in his office, Reynolds was in a science lab somewhere and Pudlo was in engineering.
Whereas they all had a job to do, Johnson wasn't particularly useful at this point in time, being the cheif navigation officer. So, he was on the bridge, sitting in the centre chair, while junior officers worked the bridge.
He had just finished a report and was entering a time into the log. He checked the chronometer...that was weird, he was sure it was later than that...then, he saw that the seconds were counting down backwards.
"Ops," said Johnson to the young ensign at the station, "is the chronometer working properly."
The woman tapped a few controls then said, "It's working fine, sir."
At that moment, he received a call from Pudlo in engineering telling him that time was going backwards.
"Acknowledged Mr Pudlo." said Johnson and got up from the centre chair.
He walked over to the Admiral's ready room door and tapped the door chime.
"Come in." came the voice from within.
The doors opened and Alexander entered.
"Admiral, have you noticed how time is going backwards?" asked Johnson, simply.

SD: 23.0220 MD: 3 Time: 07:00 hours Cdr Matthew Quarters I return to my Quarters to Catch up of some paper work there was not much for me to do on the bridge until Cdr Reynolds and his team Analyze the data and come up with some more detail information on what we are dealing with I decided to take this time to catch up on my weekly cross training Program in the Gymnasium.
Scene: Deck 5 - Gymnasium Facility -------------------------------
Matthew's stride lengthened as he increased the speed in which he ran within his pre-programmed holo-run. His plan was to run 5KM today, at a steady, medium pace, just enough to get his blood pumping and his mind working.
he felt the need to relax and so he chose a scenery that would take his through a rain forest; he loved the sounds, the smells and the way the sun broke through the canopy as he weaved his way along the path, not too mention the humidity that came with such an environment. Trance-like, he ran.
he ran for what seemed like only a few minutes when his concentration was broken with the noise of beeping as the Computer Distance Tracker reached the 5 km mark.
he slowed his pace, eventually to a walk and began the process of lowering her heart rate. Perspiration beaded on his forehead.
His arms and legs also beaded with perspiration. he smiled; a smile of satisfaction as he stretched his arms then his neck to relieve any tension that had crept during the run.
<Beep>
“Cdr Matthew Forgive me for the intrusion but you are needed back on the bridge”
said Lt, Commander Hunt, the Bridge Duty officer.
"Cdr Matthew . On my way as soon as I shower and change he stepped outside the small holo-run room, grabbed a towel and wiped his face as he made his way to his Quarters James Taps his a COMM. link. Matthew to Cdr, Reynolds I need a up-Date on your progress so far we need to know more About this black cloud just what is it Exterior and inerter made of I’ll be on the bridge .
(Entering the turbo lift)
Cdr Matthew >Deck 2 “ "Good morning sir ," A junior officer said as Cdr Matthew pulled the towel away from his face. Matthew simply nodded. he was not one for small talk.
flicked away some perspiration that had slipped into his right eye.
( Exit Turbo lift )
(Cdr Matthew Quarters )
“He quietly headed to the shower and put on his uniform at that moment he rember he had a Weekly Junior staff meeting he had pre-arranged for 0900 hrs this morning James grab a pad off head Desk and head’s for the bridge .
