Loskene looked around him, he couldn't get used to an auxiliary bridge. It had rarely been used, and still had a "new" smell to it. But it was not a time to be comparing bridges, there were more urgent matters to attend to.
Loskene: I don't think we have a choice. Our bridge has been blasted into oblivion and power surges, not to mention the odd temporal occurrences. We head back to Assailant. We are in no shape to conduct any mission, period. Mr. Johnson, set a course, warp 3.
Loskene couldn't help but dwell on Q's words. He had played his fair share of games, but at times he had his moments of truth. And this time, Loskene had a gut feeling that there was a hint of truth in what he was saying.
Loskene: Mr. Johnson? Have you laid in a course?
Johnson: Yes sir... I just engaged. We're not moving...
Loskene: Could be a problem with the warp drive... Mr. Pudlo, engineering status?
Johnson: Sir, I'm looking at star logs over the past few hours. The stars have shifted position, even though we were at full stop. Sir, something is moving...or pulling on us, slowly.
Loskene: Are impulse engines operable?
Johnson: They aren't responding.
Loskene: Where the hell is this thing pulling us toward?
Johnson: It seems to be in the direction of the cloud sir. It is similar to a gravitational pull.
Loskene: The cloud...is pulling us in? Number one, get Starbase Assailant. Tell them that we require assistance.
Matthew accessed his panel. He let out a slightly frustrated sigh.
Matthew: The comm system isn't working sir...
Loskene: Well then, get someone to work on it!
Loskene had realized that he had raised his voice.
Loskene: I apologize. It's this temporal fluctuation. It's doing a number on the biological clock. It seems like some kind of dampening field. No engines, no communications... Mr. Pudlo, I want a full diagnostic on the engines. Everyone else, I want you all to report to sickbay one at a time and be looked over by our "healer". Myself included...Unfortunately. The ship seems to falling apart at this point, and I won't let the same thing happen to my crew.

"Any new information on that nebula?" Healer T'Val asked, "are we still heading to wards it or are we stationary outside it. I still recommend against sending the entire ship in. However I volunteer to take a shuttlecraft and go take some readings."
"No Healer, we are not going anywhere at the moment, for now can you please concentrate on helping the injured," Matt said.
<Tag T'Val>
The last group of officer's had just made it to the new bridge and Admiral Loskene stepped out with the Ensign Pudlo. Matt's hopes were raised when he saw his commanding officer. At least they didn't stay lost forever Matt thought remembering that there were about thirty other crew members that were missing.
"Admiral what are we going to do?" Matt asked not really paying attention to anything anyone else was saying.
Loskene: I don't think we have a choice. Our bridge has been blasted into oblivion and power surges, not to mention the odd temporal occurrences. We head back to Assailant. We are in no shape to conduct any mission, period. Mr. Johnson, set a course, warp 3.
Matt agreed with the decision that the Admiral had just made, but he was certain that they had not gone anywhere.
Johnson: Yes sir... I just engaged. We're not moving...
The following exchange between everyone on the bridge, was a tense and worried one. No one knew what was happening and this cloud seemed to be something much more than a cloud.
Matt seeing as no one really wanted to go to Sickbay, he volunteered to be the first one. In fact it was in his best interest. The head injury he had recieved was starting to cause severe head pain.
"I'll go," Matt said as he stepped out of the small bridge.
"Computer sickbay"
The turbolift ride seemed to take forever, but in fact it was a matter of seconds. The lift stopped with a jolt, which caused Matt's head to start spinning. In fact it didn't stop spinning. Matt had to use the cooridor walls for support until he reached sickbay.
"Doctor I need some help," Matt said before he fell onto the floor.

"Level One?" Jeff asked, wondering where this was leading. "somehow, I don't think we're going to leave here without finishing our mission, whatever that is. It's not going to let us."
"Level Two will suffice- I don't think we can spare the time for a level one dignostic." Loskene replied, ignoring Jeff's comment.
"Understood." and in what seemed to be an instant, he was relaying the orders down to engineering. In a few more seconds, he was on the turbolift.
"alright people, check everything for it's current operating status. I also want a power line run from here to the umbilical power channels, so we can use the main core while our improvised system is inspected." There was plenty of motion after that. Everyone knew where they needed to go for a level two. "I am going to personally lead the team to the first computer core. That seems to be wehre a lot of our problems are coming from- the ship itself."
Jeff reeentered the turbolift, only this time tehre were 3 people with him. They would turn the subspace feild off and manually inspect the programming. Not simple, but hard. that's why he was doing it. They would have to send power through individual computer circuts, though thankfully a levle two only called for certian essentals.
As they arrived in the room, the Warrnat officer behind him breathed in abruptly. "Taht's not a normal subspace feild." He notied, seeing red and blue sparks fly out of the core onto the control room floor.
"Whatever it is, shut it down. I need to get in there." Jeff responded.
"I can't."
Jeff scanned it with a medical tricorder, then an engineering tricorder. "It doesn't look like it presents a health risk, and it's not damging anything. I'm going in."
And Jeff found himslef on a barren plain...
OOC: yes, I'm off the ship. However, it's expected that I'll appear that way since I'm in a subsapce field, so don't raise the alarm- yet.

T'Val was halfway through an annoyed retort, as she hated having to repeat herself, when she heard the commsystem make a noise. "Great, communications are down," she muttered, as she ceased to hear the background noise on the battlebridge she'd been hearing while she was in contact with them.
"Rayna, run up to the battlebridge and keep an eye on things. Do not get in the way, but if they require your assistance anywhere, you are to comply without questioning, understood?"
Rayna muttered an angry retort, but spurted out of sickbay anway.
To make things worse, sickbay suddenly went dark for several secons and was only dimly lit when emergency generators kicked on. "Perfect," T'Val murmured, as she stood in her office. Her own terminal was down, but she could see that several biobeds were still in operating order. Tricorders would still work as they had an independant energy source.
She turned sharply when she heard a voice near the door. "Doctor I need some help," Matt said before he fell onto the floor.
T'Val rushed forward and caught the operations chief just before he reached the deck. Something was going on, and she had no idea what it was. The only thing she was certain of was that it had to do with the nebula. She reached for a hypospray and inserted a vial of cordrazine. "Mr Reynolds, wake up," she said, sounding insistent, "what happened?"

Jeff looked around on the barren plain. It was flat in color, not any particualr color or sheen, but nothing. it was definatly a flat palin, as the sky, if that's what it could be called, looked darker.
There was a flash, although nothing more lit up. Even with the falsh, it still looked the same, except for one being. The being was dressed simply, and didn't look like it was capable of much, but Jeff had read the contact logs of Various captains. This was Q.
"What are you doning here, and why well, here?"
"I've lost some of my power. Things are spiraling out onf control in this area."
"Why?"
"Havent' you guessed? It's that thing."
"I figured that. What about it can weaken the Q?"
"It seemingly blocks power in space. Did you realize that in this area, the universe only exists in 3 dimentions? You wouldn't notice it, but when you draw power from other realms, you notice. I have to essentally charge. It'sn ot a problem usually, but that thing is making a fundimental difference in space."
"There's no subsapce anymore...."
"And you can't generate any with your warp drive."
"So what is that thing? D you even know?"
"It's a weapon. It's designed to destroy spaces, not by direct killing, but by death or power and systems. It was the answer to the Doomsday machine your captian Kirk encountered. It was launced on an intecept course- and both races are extinct now anyway."
"They killed each other."
"Yes. these were from the beginnning of the war. They abandoned them once they developed a better system: faster transport. They killed each other, and the weapons were just left."
"If it's a machine, I can shut it down."
"how are you going to get inside? It's got a very good protective layer."
"I'll have to think on that."
"think fast. This thing will kill allof us if it's not stopped."

"Mr Reynolds, wake up," she said, sounding insistent, "what happened?"
Matt's head was pounding and he wanted to tell the Healer to shut up, but stopped himself from doing so.
"When the explosions started I was knocked down and hit my head," Matt explained.
<Tag T'Val>
"If that is all I will leave you to attend to others," Matt said. Matt was almost positive that the doctor would stop him, but more injuries were reported in.
Matt left sickbay and turned left and headed towards the turbolift, but as he turned around the corridor he found himself not on the Jefferson anymore.
"Where the hell am I?" Matt screamed.
"Shut up," the Q said. Matt quickly turned around and was shocked to see Mr. Pudlo talking to Q.
"Ensign, I see that you have also disappeared," Matt said averting from looking at Q.
"Yes sir I did, but its a good thing," Jeff started to say," I have learned a lot." Matt was very intrigued at this statement. Matt's jaw dropped as he listened to Mr. Pudlo and Q explain what the cloud was.
"Close your mouth, Commander," Q said with a smirk. Matt quickly did so and gave Q a snickering look.
"Q, where are the other Q?" Matt said knowing that there were many others like him.
"They have all made their way towards the Gamma quadrant, they're tiring to get as far away from the cloud," Q said a bit bitterly.
"Can you tell us from what people this weapon came from?" Matt asked hoping that he could tell them that.
"You couldn't even pronounce their real name," Q said turning his back to both of them.
"You don't know do you," Matt said. Q sighed and turned to them once again.
"All I know is that these weapons come from the Andromeda galaxy," Q said and snapped his fingers. The next second Matt was back to where he had disappeared, in the corridor. Matt quickened his pace and headed towards the new bridge.
Off: I used some people's character a bit and I hope that it's okay.

OOC: perfectly fine....
IC: "So what are you going to do to shut this thing off?" Q asked insistently.
"I have no clue, and wouldn't it be helpful to talk about this in my office?"
"If losing this area, my last grip on any reality outside of your few dimensions, is your idea of good, I trust that would be very advantageous indeed."
"Is there anyway we can help?" Jeff isghed. in order to converse with Q, they would have to go here. and reaching it wasn't easy.
"I'm afraid that teh only way in or out is by accident for you- In at least- I think that out is controlled by your will, or something along those lines."
"Is there anyway to make it more comforatable here?"
"I need to save my power. That thing... It wasintended to kill races like you- or higher, but higher forms of life are more vulnerable."
"Could I possably control this enviroment?"
"I challenge you to try.no lower being has managed since..."
"shut up."
And suddenly, Matt Reynolds popped in. Jeff quickly expalined the scenario to him, and after learing about it, he popped back to the ship.
Jeff concentrated. "I warn you..." Q said. "the last to try wound up destroying himself- he created something, but it was unstable, and blew him up."
By this time, he wasn't even listening. he focused intently on the image of his office. something simmered around them, and if rapidley dissapeared. jeff treid just for the desk and one of the meeting chairs. It came, to Jeff's eternal suprise.
"I've never seen such a display fom a mere..." Q stammered.
Jeff sat in his desk, appearing non-chalant. He guestured to the seat in front of it. "Well, shall we resume?"
"I suppose."
"okay, why don't we investigate what we do know."
"We've already done that."
"Not all of it. This was not a weapon, but a counter-weapon."
"Yes, why does that matter?"
"Well, let's examine the systems of what it was designed to fight."
"as I recall, you don't have records on the Doomsday machine, as you call it. at least, not good ones."
"As I recall, you are a transient being. Why don't we go back in time to there, you cna recharge your poer so to speak, and we can examine the device in person."
"That's asking a lot."
"Considering your options, what choice do you have?"

"When the explosions started I was knocked down and hit my head," Matt explained.
"Yes I can see that," T'Val responded dryly, "you have quite a bump on your head. You seem to be suffering from a mild concussion, if you experience any headaches, dizziness or other discomfor you are to report back to sickbay immediately."
"If that is all I will leave you to attend to others," Matt said. Matt was almost positive that the doctor would stop him, but more injuries were reported in.
"No this is not all, but I see that I cannot stop you from leaving, and yes I do have other patients to attend to. Do please inform Admiral Loskene not to rock this vessel too much. Medical equipment is very sensitive and easily knocked off balance. I do not wish to spend an entire day to recalibrate every system in sickbay."
She watched the COO leave and shook her head. In her experience, males could be just as stubborn as females when it came to staying in sickbay for observations. ~and commanding officers are the worst kind of patients~ she thought with amusement.
"Oh mr Reynolds, Please send the next officer down to sickbay," she called after him, "I just caught Loskene ordering everyone in for a check-up. Though I will need to know what exactly I am looking for. Tell him to send Rayna back with the specifics, or let him come by himself!"

These were the orders that Healer T'Val told me onec I left sickbay, that had been an hour ago and Matt had totally forgotten.
"Admiral, Healer T'Val knows that you want to send everyone in for a checkup but she wants to know why," Matt said,"she would like it if you explained the situation to Rayna or you go down to sickbay yourself."
<Tag Loskene>
Matt had of course not forgotten to tell the Admiral of what Q had told him about the cloud. Which seemed to not sit well with anyone on the bridge. To be honest it didn't sit well with Matt either, if this was what Q thought than it would be very hard to get rid of and if you really thougth about it, the only way you could destroy it would be from the inside.
Would Admiral Loskene risk everything to get rid of this cloud, Matt didn't know, but he knew that the Admiral would have to make the desecion soon.

"so what you're saying is, you want me to take you back in time, to the site of the Doomsday machine about a year before the enterprise crew discovered it, and find it's control center?" Q asked, a little shocked. Well, perhaps more then a little.
"And you get powers back and can esenatlly recharge." Jeff responed. "Get away from that thing."
"I suppose that could work..."
"it's going to have to."
"unless there's some other way."
"Can sir infinate wisdom think of one?"
"No."
"then let's try it."
they found themselves floating outside the doomsday device, and moving quickly around it. It was pitted some, but it looked like a killer still. ti was big, but not big enough that within a few minutes they had located the dorsal side. they explored that, and found a place right near the front that had unusually thick armor plate.
"Anything hollow in there?"
"Yes- and it's right at the point where the back of the maw as you call it is located." Q responded.
"Let's go in then."
And they were in. Jeff broke out his tricorder. "Air's breathable. he commentted. Now we need to find the controls."
"And when we find them, what are we to do with them?"
"Find out everything we can about this thing."
"And what do we need to know?"
"What this thing runs off of. The power source- the generator of whatever type they have."
"That will help us how?" Q asked, exasperated. "I don't see where this is going."
"The cloud was launced to intercept this thing. It would have been desigend to shut it down, but allow for study, reporgamming, and reactivation, presumably. Turn the weapon agianst it's creators."
"Tricky mind. How long are you going to be?"
"Possibly quite a while. We do have year before we're forced to go back."

We recorded everything, and I will download the information we gathered for you, if you think it'll be useful in your repair efforts once we are back in space Dock. “I would like to beam my team back to the Inveigle, with your permission, sir. They could use a rest. I'll stay back to download the information from the tricorders, as well as release the lockdown on all the doors."
“Cmdr Matthew : No, we shouldn’t really need your help from here. Your teams can stand down Lt. and make sure they get some rest. I have to report my finding to the Admiral.

"found it!" Jef shouted after what seemed like a day of searching. "I found the power source!"
"Where is it?" Q asked, confused.
"hidden in plain veiw- it's right underneath our feet. The power source is a quantom core that also serves as lighting fot tyhis room. All the fuel is converted in a secondary chamber, and then fed into here!" jef was getting quite enthusiastic. "All the Data I'm going to bring back- I have enough memory to copy the entire banks of thins thing- A literally unmaniageable amount of infromnation!"
"And Stopping the Cloud?" Q pointed out.
"Well, if we're not carfeul, we're dead soon. It was designed to combat something that in techincal specs, looks only too much like a romulan configuration. Starfleet can shut those down now.... and build them. won't be too long till their used as auxilarry power sources I would think...."
"If a Romulan Vessel encoutered that thing, what would happen?"
"It would be shut down and swallowed by the clowd immediatly. Then taken back or driven into a star I would think."
"What does that mean for you?"
"It means if I can find a way to get in, I can shut it down pretty easally."
"If you can get in."
"That's the problem. And I can't figure out anything more here.... Let's get back to the ship. I need a shower."
And all of a sudden, Jeff found himself on the Auxilarry bridge of the Jefferson, right in the front of the bridge. He Saw Walked to his staiton, unfaxed, and pulgged in the engineering Data on the machine to work on figuring out what all could shut it down.
"Report?" Loskene asked.
Jeff told him, then seeing his amazed lok, tossed himn the memory pack. "Everything in it's meager databank- mostly navigaitonal maps, but some other things as well." he told him. "We're in a fight, like it or not. We need a way to get in that thing somehow to hit the off switch." he practically moaned. "and now I need a change and a shower."

Matt had been working for a couple of hours now, luckily for them the damage to the ship had seized and repairs were getting underway. As Matt looked around at the auxiliary bridge, he noticed the tired faces and bodies of the officers around him. Commander Matthews had just reported the damage of the ship, which Matt thought must of been worse. Lt. Daya was just sitting at his console trying to find a solution to the problem. Admiral Loskene looked as if he just wanted this to end and Rayna just wanted to be useful. This was a time for desperation for the crew of the USS Jefferson and at this time there was nothing they could do.
Or is there Matt thought to himself. He knew that the cloud was a weapon, but as the more he thought about it the more he came to believe that the cloud was somehow sentient. In all these years the cloud has been traveling subspace looking for the Doomsday Machine, but now it has stopped, its no longer searching.
"There must be something alive in the cloud," Matt said out loud.
"What were you saying Commander?" Admiral Loskene said.
"The cloud, it is being commanded by a sentient being," Matt said.
"How do you know this?" Commander Matthews said.
"Just look at its reactions," Matt said," the cloud stopped attacking us until we were disabled. Why would it do this unless the cloud wanted something?"
"So are you certain that the cloud is sentient?" Admiral Loskene asked.
"No sir, I am not, but the only way that I can be is if I take a shuttle and transport some of the cloud ," Matt said.
"Aren't the probes still sending us data?" Lt. Daya asked.
"Yes, but it isn't telling us much, the only way I can find out is if we get down to the molecular level," Matt said. Matt hoped that he had convinced the Admiral of letting him take a shuttle and transport some of the cloud.
"Okay Commander you have a go, but you are to stay as far away as possible," Admiral Loskene said.
"Thank you sir I make my team right away," Matt said as he left the new bridge.
=^=Reynolds to Ensign White and Volares, I need you to be at Shuttle Bay two ASAP=^=
=^=Aye sir=^=
=^=Reynolds to T'Val=^=
<Tag T'Val>
=^=I request your assistance in an away mission, we are heading to wards the cloud and your expertise is needed=^=
<Tag T'Val>
After finishing his short conversation with Healer T'Val Matt made his way to wards the science lab and took everything that he would need.
"Lt. Smith prepare the lab for major molecular research," Matt said as he left the lab and headed to wards Shuttle Bay Two.

the chirruping of the intercom interruped Jeff quite rudeley "Pudlo here" he sighed, setting aside his research into the feild dynamics and possible things that might shut the cloud down.
"Shuttle bay two here. Sir, Mr. Reynolds and T'val are here and they need a shuuttlecraft. Soon."
"I'm on my way down."
Jeff got into a Turbolift and emerged in bay two.
"Ensign Maxwell here sir. They requested a scientific shuttle with defensive armor... but we don't have that."
"I suppose they phased out all of the scientific shuttlepods in favor of the warp capable ones?"
"Yes sir. Our best one is in repair bay 2, but it'll be some time before we can get a new warp core installed."
"They won't need that." Jeff said as they walked to the bay. "Just a lot of power on impulse. Replace all of the warp component areas with dutronium tanks for impulse, and give them extra fuel."
"how long do you think that'll take to do and fill?"
"About 15 minutes, with a good bay crew. Can you handle that?"
"Aye sir."
"Good. And make sure you run it through the safty scanner before it's flown."

Loskene peered at the cloud through the viewscreen. As the Jefferson was tugged closer and closer, Loskene began to sense more and more. Something powerful, something or some kind of sentience lay within. Loskene's doubts about Q's words were rapidly dissipating with every step.
Loskene: Mr. Johnson, at our present speed, when will we breach the cloud?
Johnson: I believe in the vicinity of 35 minutes we will enter the cloud.
Reynolds: As we get closer, the time distortions are growing stronger. The chronometers in various areas of the ship are reading differently from one another.
Loskene: ...There is something very large in that cloud...
Loskene blinked and a moment later he was in an empty white room.
Loskene: .....Q?
Q: Surprise! Oh forget it, you're such a bore compared to the others. Mon Amiral, I've decided it's time to let you in on a few things. I won't reveal too much, because, as you may know, I haven't exactly been the model Q, in their opinion anyway. And-
Loskene: Alright, speak up, what is this we've encountered?
Q: To put it mildly, it's an experiment. An ancient experiment created by a technologically advanced race thousands of years ago. They've since become extinct, some sort of war which eradicated them all, details are sketchy, mind you. The designers of the experiments were a cruel race who loved to study others under a microscope-
Loskene: That sounds strangely familiar.
Q: (Sarcastic laugh) Very amusing. You have quite the acid tongue. Anyway, they enjoyed studying others under a microscope, As you will soon find out. The race was never able to complete it's experiment because of the before mentioned war which-
Loskene: Destroyed them all.
Q: Ah! Very good! Have a cookie!
Q snapped his fingers and a cookie appeared in Loskene's mouth. Loskene removed it from his mouth and threw it down. Q's sarcasm quickly faded.
Q: As I was saying, they never did complete their experiment. Thus it remains.
Loskene: But surely we would have discovered the cloud long ago.
Q: Not in this case. This cloud and what is inside it is able to teleport to random spots in the galaxy, that way their experiment wouldn't be detected by others. They were extremely secretive. And at this moment, it's nesting here. And the forces within are pulling you in.
Loskene: Why? How?
Q: Erm....I can't tell you that. I can ask you, however: What objects in the Universe have gravitational pulls?
Loskene: Stars, Novae, Planets, moons...
Q: 3rd time's the charm.
Loskene: So a planet, then.
Q winked and disappeared, and Loskene materialized on the bridge.
Matthew: Sir! Another visit from Q?
Loskene: Yes number one. And He's given me more then enough answers...for now.
(OOC: The wheels are in motion....)

ooc: when did communications get restored?
=^=Reynolds to T'Val=^=
"T'Val here, what can I do for you Mr Reynolds?"
=^=I request your assistance in an away mission, we are heading towards the cloud and your expertise is needed=^=
"I will meet you in the shuttlebay commander," T'Val replied, "I will just get my medical kit and will be down there in about ten minutes. Is there anything specific I need?"
After awaiting Reynolds' response, T'Val cut the connection and went to get the equipment she needed. Next she walked down to the shuttlebay, leaving Rayna in charge of sickbay until the chief nurse would return. When she arrived in shuttlebay two, she found Reynolds already waiting for her, but Ensign Pudlo was also present, seemingly involved in a discussion with an engineer.
"Problem gentlemen?" she asked, as she approached the three men, "are we good to go? I doubt that any form of protection would help us if it is intent on pulling us in. This is a dangerous operation, with our without extra armour." She climbed into the shuttle and went to check the scientific and medical equipment already present aboard.
"From what I can tell, science and medical is operational. That is all we need is it not?"

Johnson had been feeling it for a while. The feeling seemed to intensify as they got closer to the cloud. He decided to report it to Loskene.
"Sir, I'm getting some kind of feeling...there's something intelligent inside the cloud...or some kind of lifeform...well...I...Argh! These El-Aurian feelings are so annoying. I can't articulate them properly."
"I know Commander," said Loskene, "I feel it too."
"You do?" said Johnson in mild surprise. This made him feel a bit better, at least he wasn't alone in this.
At that moment, Loskene dissappeared with a white flash. It was the flash that Qs made. Johnson had been very interested to find that Q was involved in this. Although most Starfleet Captains were warned about the Q, Alex found Q interesting. There was not denying that he was a very annoying superbeing, Alex liked his charisma and had a sneaking suspicion that even Captain Picard must've liked him some of the time.
But there was no time to dwell on that now. Alex was just beginning a security sweep when Loskene reappeared.

"Ummm... T'val?" Jeff spoke, a little tired. Go to the bakc of the shuttle and look at the floor."
"What about it?"
"There is a big hole there, where the warp assembly is normally located. The shuttle cant take you safeley to that thing witha hole in it."
"What was that argument about?"
"It was a simple discussion when one person had pretty strong feelings. no animosity. You ran a dignostic- check life support."
"I suppose we cna't fly in this craft."
"not yet."

ooc: since permission wasn't given to destroy the shuttles, and it was clear from the start that we were going to need them, Im going with finding one shuttle that still is in one piece....and WITH proper propulsion.
ic:
T'Val stood to the side, her arms crossed over her chest in annoyance. From what she could tell the shuttle she was looking at now was in perfect working condition, and there was nothing wrong with the hatch either, in contradiction with the shuttle Pudlo was now working on.
She climbed into the shuttle and backoned Reynolds to follow her. "This vessel is in perfect working condition," she whispered at him, "I recommend we go before he finds something to declare this vessel not space worthy. A quick check has shown that the warpcore is in working order, and sensor are working at top efficiency, just as we need."
<Reynolds>
She climbed back out to gather their gear as fast as she could, then settled back in the navigations seat. "I know how to pilot," she told the COO, "unless you prefer to take the helm? We seem to have clearance for departure, I have just informed auxiliary control that we have found a spaceworthy craft."

"This vessel is in perfect working condition," she whispered at him, "I recommend we go before he finds something to declare this vessel not space worthy. A quick check has shown that the warpcore is in working order, and sensor are working at top efficiency, just as we need."
Matt totally agreed with the Healers assesment and quickly got in the shuttle. For that instant Matt felt as he was doing something bad, but that quickly passed. This was for the saftery of the ship and nothing was more important than that.
"White and Volares are you going to join us?" Matt said trying to ligthen up the mood.
"Coming sir," they both responded.
"I know how to pilot," she told the COO, "unless you prefer to take the helm? We seem to have clearance for departure, I have just informed auxiliary control that we have found a spaceworthy craft."
"No you can pilot, that will give me the chance to run more extensive scans on that damned thing," Matt said clearly referring to the cloud. "So when ever you're ready Healer."
<Tag T'Val>
Matt was very glad that he had decided not to pilot. It seemed that the shuttle was small enough not to get any reaction from the cloud. The sensor's were having a field day at what they were reading.
"You wouldn't believe what I'm seeing," Matt said to no one in particular. As Matt looked up at the two other science crewmembers he thought they would agree, but they were to excited as they read the scans that the sensors were picking up.
"Healer T'Val what do you think about these readings," Matt said as he sent some of the information to navigational control.
<Tag T'Val>
"By the way Healer, what do you think is a safe distance," Matt said hoping that he wasn't annoying the Vulcan Doctor.

<Officer's Mess> <yellow Alert: >
“Lt. Paxar finished his breakfast. 'Hmmm...I guess people are still trying to get acclimated to What left of the ship.' He smiled to himself, 'After all, I've only been on board for a 64 days”
“He grabs his tray and walks over to the recycler and places it in. He looked up at the ceiling, "Computer, Time." The computer chirped briefly, "The time is 0750 hours." Lt. Paxar nodded and began making his way to the Main bridge. I mean the battle bridge 'I wonder how many new crewmen we are going to pick up at the Star base when we arrive Back there
( Scene: Auxiliary Battle Bridge, Deck 3, USS JEFFERSON)
He entered the Auxiliary bridge, noting that the Conn officer had the bridge, which meant that neither the Admiral or Commander Matthew had reported for duty shift yet.
“He walked over to the tactical station and relieved the ensign who was manning the station, "Thank you, Ensign, I can take it from here."
The ensign nodded and moved away from the console. he punched in a few commands and logged himself on duty for the shift. He yawned slightly, 'I wish I had been able to get a few more hours of sleep before duty.'
He looked around wondering where everyone else was, according to the ships chronometer, alpha shift should be preparing for duty about now. 'Ah, well, I assume the everyone can find the way to the bridge shortly.' He enters a few more commands when Cmdr Matthew Enters the room ‘
Cmdr Matthew . REPORT”
Lt. Paxar > communications back online and we now Have short range sensors but with the black cloud interference they a not much use Stand bye sir is have Lt, cmdr Reynolds on Comm. Channel “
He and Doctor T’ Val and chief engineer Pudlo are on a shuttle they have a ideal that may help us out of our situation we are in he request Permission to Depart the ship “

Jeff looked over and Saw a shuttle activating it's power systems, seemingly intact. "What's wrong with that shuttle?" Jeff asked the technitioan. "I asked for all good shuttle warp cores to be used!"
"The Warp core on that shuttle isn't good." The technitian replied. "In fact, I wouldn't trust it."
"Why not? That things about to take off- they aprently think it's an emergency so desparte that they take off NOW."
"The core is worn out. The crystals lining the swirl chamber are degradign. It will provide power, but only enough for a short Jump, not for a long haul. If it's used too much, it will shut down automatically, thank god. but it's not classified as a servicable core."
"They shouldn't need warp anyway. Send your advisment to the captain, he'll tell them what to do from there, if it needs to be done. They outrank me, but they cna't argue with him."
"Understood sir." Maxwell responded.
"One more thing. Get a Workpod ready. I'm going to take care of some housekeeping items."
"Bridge repair?"
"Something like that." --------------
10 minutes later, Jeff was using the manipulator arm on his shinx workpod to clear out power conduits, to manually separeate the bridge seperation connections and clear all the debris out. He expected oit to take a while, though all the time he was hoping the away team would have the best of luck in their shuttle.

"Shuttlecraft Promise here. Understood commander," T'Val replied before Reynolds could even open his mouth to respond.
<snip>
T'Val took a moment to take in the console lay-out. "This is different than a Romulan diplomatic shuttle," T'Val commented, but after a moment, the shuttle hovered in the hangarbay and then departed the Jefferson.
T'Val occasionally glanced sideways to look at the readings the operations chief was sending her. "Fascinating," she answered, "but I have no idea what to make of them." She glanced back out the window at the cloud, and then at her console.
"This is a good distance as any," T'Val replied coolly and engaged the autopilot to keep them fairly in place. Then she noticed a message on the console. "Jefferson is informing us that our warpcore is unreliable," she reported, "the dilithium crystals are out of alignment and degrading. Let us hope we shall not need warp speed. However, as long as we use impulse, this shuttle is perfectly safe."
She got out of the navigations seat and joined the scientists. "What have you found?" she asked them.

On the bridge, the deck began to shudder, very slightly, but noticeable.
"Report" said Loskene as he strode onto the bridge.
"We're still being pulled into the cloud Captain. The vibrations are due to the gravimetric distortions we are encountering, the inertial dampeners are damaged, there's nothing I can do. But that's the least of our problems. We have fifteen minutes max. before we are in that cloud." said Johnson.

Jeff, in the work pod, saw the ship shudder benath him. He quickly anchored is Pod next to the field holding in the air uin the Confrence room. He looked around at his options. There wern't many. He could try for the shuttle bay, but he wouldn'tn make it before they would have to put up the sheilds. Deck one was locked off to everyone, out or in, so he couldn't get a turbolift fro there.
"Captain, I have a problem..." Jeff transmitted to the bridge. he quickly outlined his situation. Then he paused,an idea coming to him. "Cancel rescue plans. I'll get into the ship just fine."
Cutting off his comm, Jeff decided that it would be a risky move, and it would take immense concentration. He un-clamped his small pod, and turned it vertical over one of the turbolift shafts. A remote computer Control opened it. Once he was in, he closed the segment of the network, and went on into the next one, which had air. He pulled a tricorder out and programmed a series of computer commands into it, ordering to reroute lifts that were going to go on the route he was on.
He gently piloted his small craft down to the repair faciltiy for turbolifts in the bottom decks. Once he restoed the routes, he sent an alert to the shuttlebay, and Ran to the nearest working turbolift car, and took it to the bridge.
