On the bridge of the Jefferson, the operations manager detected the Starfleet Long Range Shuttle on an intercept course with the ship. This was to be expected. They had been informed of the transfer. The transmission was received and the response sent. The officer was to come aboard the Jefferson by transporter.
Down in the transporter room, moments later, Lieutenant Alexander Johnson materialised on the pad. He stepped down from the pad. It was good to be back. After taking leave on Earth for personal reasons, it felt good to be back on a starship, on the Jefferson.
Seeing the transporter operator's rigid stance, he said, "At ease, cheif." The man's posture relaxed as Alex exited the room.
He would have liked to go directly to his quarters to put all his things away, but decided to first head for Commodore Loskene.
"Computer, locate Commodore Loskene."
"Commodore Loskene is in his quarters."
So Johnson headed in that direction. He arrived and pressed the control panel. After a short pause, a "come in" came from inside. Alexander entered.
"Lieutenant Junior Grade, Alexander Johnson reporting for duty sir."

Loskene heard the door chime and didn't react at first. He was busy looking over protocols that dealt with the Polanites. It was easy to have cultural misunderstandings, so Starfleet had sent "tips" for a smoother first contact. He was just about to read one of the chapters entitled "Dinner manners" and began to read the lines under it. "Hand gestures: Do's and dont's"
Loskene's door rang once more and Loskene heard it more distinctly, and drove him out of his seat.
Loskene: Yes, Come in.
A man with lieutenant pips walked in. At first, Loskene didn't quite recognize him, he had been so busy over the past few months that it was hard to remember every face, but over the course of a few seconds, Loskene finally recognized the man. Loskene stiffened up and spoke down to the man.
Loskene: Lieutenant.....?
Johnson was somewhat taken aback by Loskene's memory loss and coldness and bluntness.
"Lieutenant Junior Grade, Alexander Johnson reporting for duty sir." he responded. After a few tense moments, Loskene relaxed his shoulders and let out a small smile.
Loskene: It is good to see you again, Mr. Johnson. At ease. I knew I recognized a name when I saw it on the transfer list. How does it feel to be back? Oh, by the way, I'm afraid the Jefferson has had a slight change of personnel over the months. The only senior officers still intact since you left are: James Matthew, our steady XO, Aral Gibson, now Chief Engineer, and Raiben Winters, our Chief Tactical/Security Officer. However, Joni Kel, Max Power, Michael Pasek, Dimitrij Fos etc etc. have left and are continuing their lives elsewhere. I thought you'd like to know.
Loskene could tell that Johnson was remembering the old names from so long ago. And thus, Loskene began to think about all those old names as well. It was saddening, but as they say, "The show must go on".
Loskene: So, you are back at your old post eh? That's good, your trusty abilities should come in handy on this one. Have you had a chance to brush up on your Polanite? My reason being, There will be a dinner reception, for both crews to meet and dine with the ambassadors... Unfortunately, the ambassadors will have to eat in separate rooms, so it may mean two dinners for us...

Luke walked onto the bridge, everything about him suggested that he was in a foul mood. He could not believe what the Tiger Shark was doing and as a result he could not focus on anything else.
He sat down in his chair rather heavily and frowned hard. What is she playing at?! Luke thought angrily.
"Is everthing alright Commander?" Tiffani asked.
"Yes!" Snapped Luke turning to access his console. "Everything is fine!"
Tiffani appeared stunned by Luke's outburst but at that particular time he was not bothered. He began to right out a transmission to Admiral KezTrek, he was just stunned by what she was doing...
"Commander Dowding, may I see you in my ready room?" Commodore Walker asked.
Luke nodded and stored the transmission, it could wait until later - at a pinch...
The two officers walked into the ready room and Commodore Walker took his seat behind the desk. He motioned for Luke to take a seat and he did so.
"What just happened out there Commander?" Walker asked.
"I'm sorry Sir?" Luke said, still flustered.
"That little outburst against Tiffani. What is the reasoning behind it?"
Luke sighed and shifted uncomfortably in his seat. It had just dawned on him how unfair his behaviour had been.
"I had just recieved some bad news." Luke said, purposefully avoiding the point.
"May I enquire as to what this bad news is?" Walker asked.
Luke shifted uncomfortably again. Should he tell the Commodore and get the crew of the Tiger Shark, his friends, in trouble or should he lie to his CO on the second day of the job?...
Of course there was only one option...
"It is personal Sir." Luke said, hiding the emotion as much as he could.
Walker didn't seem to buy it but simply nodded. "Please make sure it does not affect your duties again Commander. You have the bridge, I need to get some work done for this conference."
"Yes Sir." Luke replied before exiting the ready room and taking the centre chair.
He turned to Tiffani and smiled. "I am sorry about before Tiff... I'm just adjusting..." He said.
Again, Tiffani didn't seem to buy it. Luke assumed she could sense more than that. However she accepted the apology none the less.
"If you feel that you need to transport to the Jefferson to get the task done faster then please do so, but make sure you inform Commodore Walker before you leave." Luke said.
Luke stood up and walked over to the two of them. Ensign Sagara was also with them.
"May I remind you that are you on duty." Luke said, realising how hypocritical this sounded. "And that being on duty there are certain guidelines to stick to. If there are personal issues here please resolve them off shift hours. Understood?" Luke asked.
Firestorm and Paris nodded. "Good." Luke said smiling. "Now lets have a look at those genetic structures!" Luke turned to Ensign Sagara. "Ensign, could you please get me a full tactical review and also an update on our guests. Is within the next hour a fair request?" Luke asked.
<TAG Sagara>
"Good, now Lt. Firestorm. Perhaps you could brief myself and Commander Paris here on what you have established so far?"

With repairs complete, and his duty cycle over, Gary picked up the data chip he'd been carying around, and left main engineering. When he arrived at Holodeck three, he used its main interface to transfer the data from the chip to the holodeck matrix, stored it, then continued on to sickbay.
Once there, he entered. The staff on duty were busy with their duties, but Angel was nowhere to be found. He set the datachip containing the holodeck program down on a side table.
"Could you tell me where I might find Doctor Paris?" He asked an Andorian nurse.
"I could, but then I'd have to tell her your private business as well, and I kinda like that she and I get along at the moment." Came the lighthearted reply.
He chuckled a bit. "So she's not here?" he inquired further.
"If you are ill, we can help you" She offered.
"Not likely. This is more of a personal visit, but thank you. I'll just come back later." He left sickbay, forgetting to pick up the data card from the table.
He returned to main engineering long enough to pick up a few components he'd replicated, then returned to his quarters to install them.
Soon he had a small holo emitter system in his quarters. He didn't replace the bulkheads with a grid, so there'd be no scenery, but the emitters were enough to simulate people. Quite similar to the emergency personel programs in vital spaces.
In this case, it was his family. Before leaving Earth, his parents had made this program so that he would, in a way, be taking them with him. It's intention was that when they sent letters back and forth, they'd tie them into the programs as though the messages were being delivered personally. Back home he'd left one of him.
"Computer, activate Mother."
Suddenly, there she stood, looking around at his quarters, as though she had just stepped off of the transporter pad.
"Gary, why are you looking at me like that? How much time have you been away from home without accessing the home program?"
"I just got onboard a few days ago." He replied.
"Well, you look like you just got out of work. Get cleaned up, and I'll make dinner." She said as she wlked over to the replicator.
She'd need access. "Computer, recognise voice commands from characters in Owens family portrait program, security clearance level of passenger/family"
"Acknowledged" it chirped.
When he had showered and redressed in the refresher unit, he came back to find his father was also there. Both were upset and comforting each other.
"We accessed the holonet to see if there were any messages from us to you. We discovered the news." His father said.
"News?" he asked.
"Yes. Weren't you going to tell us?" dad replied.
"How long ago were we murdered?" Asked mom.

"Brushed up on my Polanite? Is there something wrong with the universal translator?"
Johnson smiled.
"Well, if there's nothing else Lieutenant," smiled Loskene, "I'm sure you'd like to get settled in to your quarters..."
"Actually sir, there is something else." Said Johnson, knowing that this was going to be an interesting story.
"Go on." said Loskene.
"Well sir, you've probably been wondering why I took my leave."
Loskene didn't really make any acknowledgement or disacknowledgement, so Alexander took this as an inclination to keep going.
"Well, I don't know if you remember, but on the mission to Rava, when we were stuck in that temporal anomaly, I had a weird feeling...one that I couldn't explain, and that I can't really explain now."
Loskene grunted, which Alex took as another yes.
"Well, this was so bothering to me, I had to go and find out what it was, so I went back to Earth. I wanted to talk to my parents, to see if there was any history of telepathy or other strange...powers in my family."
"And what did you discover?" prompted Loskene.
"Well sir, as it turns out, I'm one quarter El Aurian." said Alexander, knowing how stupid it sounded.
"As it turns out? How could you not know this before?" asked Loskene.
"It was my mother's father. I never knew him. My mother always said that he had died in the past, and she always managed to steer away from the topic if it ever came up. But she couldn't steer away from it this time."
"Why did she hide it from you?" asked Loskene.
"She didn't tell me, completely... It seems my grandfather was wanted by someone, or something. I don't know, but she said that she wanted me to stay away from association from my grandfather."
"Is he still alive?" asked Loskene curiously.
"I don't know. She said that he disappeared many years ago. I think she knows why, but I don't think even she knows where he is. I have no information on his whereabouts at all, so I can't go looking for him."
"What about your grandmother?"
"They used to tell me that she had died too, but now, it seems that she disappeared along with my grandfather. I guess it's just a mystery that I'll have to live with."
"I guess so." said Loskene, "It might be hard living with a mystery like that though."
"Yeah, but there are advantages to being one quarter El Aurian. It looks like I'm probably going to live a few hundred years more than a normal human would, and I seem to have these El Aurian...powers. But very little is known about El Aurians, so I'm not entirely sure what to expect."

After Owen had returned from his physical he had relieved Commander Jameson from the bridge and continued with his regular duties. He had focused the lateral sensors on a pulsar and was viewing the interplay of the light on his console when he wasn't occupied with other duties. As he was doing this he was recording it so he could put the image on his wall in a holoframe.
After the ship had stopped Owen stopped running the scan and saved the image for later use. He knew enough about engineering to know that dropping out of warp while heading out on a mission meant that he would have a fair amount of time to run diagnostics on the ships systems. Owen tapped his commbadge.
"Ensign K'Tor, please report to the bridge."
Owen waited at the Ops console until the turbolift opened and K'Tor stepped out onto the bridge.
"Ensign." Owen gestured for K'Tor to come and relieve him of his post. "I want you to take over from me."
As K'Tor sat down Owen was already on his way off the bridge and on his way down he tapped his commbadge again.
"Commander Jameson, assemble a team and meet me on deck 10 outside the computer core."
As the turbolift stopped at deck 10 Owen walked out and waited for the team to arrive. He didn't have to wait for long as the team arrived within minutes.
"Commander, I want you to run diagnostics on the holodecks. You should only need a small crew as you're only going to be checking one holodeck at a time. The rest of you, you're with me." Owen said as he walked into the main library.
"Ok team I want you to split into two groups, we're going to run a level one diagnostic on all non-essential systems checking two at a time. This should take us the rest of our shift. Does everybody understand? Good, now get to it people."

T'Val had been so engrossed in her daydream about being reunited with her family, that she'd completely forgotten about Giga's presence. His query pulled her back to reality and she nodded. "Ah, yes of course lieutenant. There is little I can do that would require you to remain off duty now is there?"
She raised an eyebrow at the android officer. "However, if you do see Raina, do me a favour and lead her to believe that her little joke pulled off?"
<Giga>
As the android left sickbay, T'Val busied herself with the research of their guests. It would help more if she'd invite them to sickbay for a physical, but she hadn't quite figured out if it was according to their ethical code to be examined by another species.
She had just entered her office to fix the 'glitch' in her files about Giga when her computer beeped. There had been yet another new arrival, by the name of Alexander Johnson.
"T'Val to Johnson, please report to sickbay."
<Johnson>
The Vulcan healer sat back in her seat, only to suddenly find a feline beaming straight into her office. "Who are you?" T'Val said, quickly covering her startled expression, "and did you leave your manners home when you decided to beam right in here?"
The feline shook it's head. "My name is Firestorm to Ennien," it said, "and I'm a civillian scientist aboard the USS Victory C. Myself and Doctor Paris require your assistance aboard the Victory."
T'Val nodded as she listened to he feline's quick explanation. "Very well, I will attend as soon as I see to my last physical for today. Though, kindly send me a message before beaming in next time. Unannounced is rather rude."
Firestorm nodded, then disappeared in a blue haze of a transporter beam.
"T'Val to Commodore Loskene, could I speak with you in a moment, in private?"

*TIffani watched the business happening around her, as her mind drifted she recalled her meeting with felix, it hadn't gone as she had hoped, but atleast she knew that Amilea was safe, she drifted off into thought when she heard Johnson request the Ensign's presence on the board, she smiled, then looked over to see the captain still sitting in his chair*
Captain if you'll excuse me i'm gonna go freshen up seeing as my shift ended a few hours ago, guess i lost track of time. *Commented Tiffani*
<Tag Walker>
*she smilked weakly* I'll be fine, just found myself wondering about Amilea is all, guess even with her gone i'll worry about her. *she stood and made her exit, once on the turbolift she requested it to her quarters*
*she was deep in though when the lift came to a halt and she realized it was her deck, she exited just as another officer got on, she smiled at the Ensign and made her way to her quarters, she decided it was going to be a very long mission, but she must find som way to get her mind off little Amilea*

Luke finished talking to Firestorm and Paris and allowed them to continued their work at the science stations. Apparantly Healer T'Val of the Jefferson would be beaming over to help in the research. Perhaps Luke would contact Lt. Giga, he was sure that he would definately be interested.
Luke sat down in the centre chair and immediately recieved a comm call from Commodore Walker.
=^= Commander Dowding, please report to my ready room =^=
Luke tapped his comm badge. "Aknowledged Commodore." He turned to Lieutenant Commander Paris, the senior officer on the bridge after himself. "Commander, you have the bridge." He said to here before entering the Commodore's ready room.
"Yes Sir?" Luke said as he took the seat that Walker was gesturing to.
"Commander, this paper work is taking longer than i expected. I need you to organise the meet and greet dinner with the Ambassadors, just the Victory crew for now."
"Yes Sir, of course. I will inform you of the details when it is sorted."
"Thank you, dismissed." Walker said. Luke walked back onto the bridge and stopped Paris from standing up.
"Please Commander, remain at the con. I have a dinner to plan." He said smiling before leaving the bridge.

"Well, if there's nothing else sir..." said Alex.
"It's good to have you back Lieutenant." Said Loskene.
"It's good to be back." said Alex.
He walked out of Loskene's quarters, intending to go to deposit all his bags in his quarters when he received a call from sickbay. With a weary acknowledgement, he decided to head for sickbay first as it was nearer.
When he got to sickbay, he found the doctor.

============== Scene Jefferson Main bridge ==============
Cmdr Matthew watched as Loskene walked off the bridge towards his Ready Room effectively leaving him in command of Bridge It had been a long two days for James as he went over the technical details of the current system………..
Cmdr Matthew walked over to the science console and interrupted the officer there. " Ensign Lonak, I understand that you were running the Science department prior to Lt Giga arrival?"
Ensign Lonak> " Indeed sir!" . Cmdr Matthew nodded " Then you would agree that it is logical that you Stay on as his Assistant we fill you have Proven that in Time and with a Little more Experience you can Run A Science Department ?"
Ensign Lonak> " Very well sir, I will brief the Science team?"
Lt Cmdr Matthew> " Before you do that I want you to brief me on the Polanites Planetary data and make some suggestions?"
Ensign Lonak raised an eyebrow " yes sir?"
(15 minutes later)
The Ensign had downloaded and called up the information on the main viewer. The displayed in three dimensional detail with a demographic cycling chart showing the various particles present within and emanating out into Sonnets system………….
There a no link between a spatial rifts at This Time so we List it as unknown but Ensign Lonak was surmising that some of the area around the planet and acting as an attractive sub-space body for these Rifts…………..
Over the next hour or so Matthew was busy advising Operations officer Lieutenant Commander Greg Hayes on which Shuttle traffic could be allowed through the no fly Zone. There were some commercial ships ferrying passengers Back An Fourth some Security codes Clearances Have been issued for some Shuttles From the Jefferson & Victory Shuttles Transport some necessary Medical supplies……….
Cmdr Hayes> sir would it not be much easier for use to just transport the supply’s Down to where they are needed .. Cmdr Matthew > Yes but neither the Baltorian's Ambassador or the Polanites Ambassador- will give the go a head for that so its Shuttle or nothing.
So they both have given permission to allowed temporary Landing Zone so we can make our deliveries……… Finally Matthew left operations and headed the short walk to Commodore Loskene Ready room.

Kurzan had finally finished preparing the food for the ambassadors, all that was needed now was for the food to settle and cool. Kurzan learned that the Polanites enjoyed their food at a lukewarm temperature. The thought of it made Kurzan sick to his stomach. "Food is either hot or cold...anything else is unacceptable" Kurzan thought to himself. "Oh well" He turned off the burners and pulled the heavy lid from the pot.
Something had been lingering in Kurzan's mind over the past few days. He had noticed it had happened at about the time the Victory rendezvoused with the Jefferson. He had not felt this way since he had a reunion with his parents, 10 years ago. Before that, he had felt it regularly on his home world. All El-Aurians shared a certain link. They could sense each others presence. Sometimes, if the feelings in the person were strong enough, a type of empathic message could be recieved.
The feeling that Kurzan had was very weak, however. Not strong enough to be El-Aurian. Of course, Kurzan was a middle aged El-Aurian, and perhaps his senses weren't what they once were. Still... He wanted to find out just what it was he was sensing. Kurzan awoke from his curious trance and checked the chronometer. He lost about 20 minutes dwelling on his thoughts. But then again... Time is very unusual for El-Aurians, where other beings are concerned anyway. Kurzan then went back to tending to the strange food.

<Back posting>Loskene looked up at Johnson, and his response to the universal translators. Loskene smiled slightly.
Loskene: The universal translators work of course, but we will be expected to speak to them in their native language on occasion. And I'm not sure that you...nor I... could pronounce P'sortlikkiiii'xzalkrhfeir without a little bit of practice.<Back posting end>
Loskene had found Mr. Johnson's admission quite interesting, and very mysterious. Loskene held El-Aurians in high regard. Partly because of their perseverance after the Borg attacked their world, and partly because they aged considerably well. Loskene then remembered something, when he had looked at a partial list of minor staff on the Victory.
Loskene: Lieutenant, I believe there is an El-Aurian residing on the Victory. I believe he is a.... merchant of some sort...Or a chef perhaps? Er....Or maybe a man of all trades... I'm not really sure since I have never met him. Perhaps you two could make it a point to introduce yourselves. Just a thought. If someone came along and was part 8472, if that were possible of course, I know I'd be eager to meet that person.
Shortly after, T'Val contacted Johnson and ordered him to sickbay. Loskene and Johnson said their good-byes, and Loskene sat back down, delving further into the the finer points of diplomacy. Suddenly, his communicator chirped. Loskene couldn't help but roll his eyes at the constant interruptions.
Loskene: Yes, go ahead.
T'Val: Commodore, Could you come down here? I need to speak with you for a moment, in private.
Loskene: Alright.... It had better be important...
Loskene stood up once again and slowly walked out the door. He was in no rush.

Luke travelled down to the mess and galley area. He had planned to find the Chef who was preparing all the food.
He walked through the doors and immediately wrinkled his nose. The smell was disgusting, like rotting vegetables that had been left for months in excessively hot temperatures.
"Hello?" Luke called into the kitchen. No response came so he walked into the room and he saw a man there, standing quite still and apparantly not doing anything.
"Hello?" Luke said again, the man had moved but still he had not heard Luke. He walked a little closer and cleared his throat.
"Excuse me." Luke said, projecting his voice as much as possible without sounding threatening. "Are you in charge of the prepartion of the food?"
The man had heard this time and slowly turned round.

Giga nodded but did not say anything. All these lies and jokes were all very confusing. Was there any point.
Giga walked back to the bridge and sat down at Science two, as Science one was seated by an Ensign and Giga saw no point in asking him to move. He instead busied himself with upgrading the lateral sensors. They were operating at 89% but Giga could get them to work higher.

~of course it is important~ T'Val thought, almost angrily ~otherwise it would be a waste not only of your time, but of mine also~ She picked up the nearest tricorder, knowing that Johnson would come in for his physical soon.
She had just picked it up when the lieutenant entered. "Greetings lieutenant," T'Val said, almost cheerfully, "I believe we have not yet had the pleasure to meet. I am Healer T'Val, though being on a starship I will also listen to being called doctor while I am on duty. Now....please lie down on the biobed and we shall see to your physical. Do you have any health complaints? Allergies? I fear that I have not yet received your medical records, Starfleet tends to be a little slack in that."
<Johnson>
T'Val nodded, and continued to submit the lieutenant to a variety of medical and physical tests. At last, she told him to hold out his arm. "You are not going to faint on me are you?" she quizzed, as she raised an eyebrow at him. However, before he could respond, she'd already drawn the blood sample she needed and handed it to the nearest nurse for analysis. "Your test results will be ready in a few hours. You may return to duty."
<Johnson>
As if on queue, just when Johnson left, Loskene walked into sickbay as if he were in no hurry at all. "I must commend your impeccable timing commodore," T'Val commented, "and yes what I need to discuss with you is important. I need to beam over to the Victory. Their CMO and chief scientist are working on our guests molecular biology. This research may give us a unique insight on their genetic structure. However, I need to ask you also if it is against their ethical code to call them to sickbay for a physical. I know that the transporters have removed all biohazards, but I would like to make sure of that for myself."

Kurzan was somewhat startled by the voice that shouted at him. He looked around and finally found the man that had communicated with him. He realized that it was the Victory's new XO, Commander Dowding. Kurzan responded to his calls. "Ah, I see it's our new First Officer, Commander Dowding was it? We have been without an XO for a while, it is good to see more structure in the chain of command. Of course, it doesn't do me as much good as it does commissioned officers, seeing as I am nothing more than a civilian. Do please pardon the stench. I just activated the venting system, so it should disappear shortly. Well, what brings you here?" Kurzan asked, stepping out of the kitchen and approaching Commander Dowding.

Loskene thought about it for a moment and then looked up at the doctor. He began to open his mouth but then stopped himself and began to dwell on it some more. T'Val waited patiently as Loskene gathered words.
Loskene: Well... They may not enjoy it...Actually, I'm fairly certain they will respond to this with hostility. But, you are the doctor. While we are recognizing their culture and protocols, it is time that they do the same. I grant you permission. If they refuse, they can send a complaint to Starfleet. Let me know if you encounter any other trouble.
Loskene turned around and began to head out the door but stopped just outside.
Loskene: Oh, almost forgot. Good luck, Doctor.
Loskene smiled and the door quickly closed. Loskene went back to his quarters with the padd in his hands. He got into the turbolift. Suddenly, he felt something very strange. A disturbance nearby. Loskene had never felt such a strange presence in all his time in the galaxy. It ended abruptly, and Loskene took a deep breath. He told himself that it was most likely just a side effect to his injection, or maybe he had just been working too hard. Still, it lingered in the back of his mind...

Luke smiled as Kurzan informed him that the ventilator on, thank goodness for that. The smell was awful.
"Well, as it turns out I have been put in charge of the dinner prepartions. I came down here to see what sort of start had been made but I can see you have the food well under control. When do you suppose it will be ready by?"
<TAG Kurzan>
"We can most likely replicate food fit for our consumption. Unless you wish to cook any more?"
<TAG Kurzan>
"Sounds good to me. Do what you feel comfortable with. I will now turn to sorting out the where we will eat. I think Ambassadorial Suite 1 was recently upgraded. Maybe we could dine there. What do you think?"

Raising an eyebrow at the retreating commanding officer, T'Val then turned towards her office and seated herself at her desk. She called up all the information she could find on their guests, the Polanites. To her chagrin, there wasn't much to find about them, other than that they were yellow-skinned, and their skin was covered with very colourful feathers, making them appear as overgrown birds.
What she did find, however, was the name of the Polanite ambassador. "Ambassador Zyrona, please excuse the intrusion," T'Val called, after contacting the Polanite ambasador, "I am not aware of any protocol regarding contact with your species, however, I am requesting that you and your staff attend sickbay for a physical, as is required by Starfleet protocol."
The other end of the line remained silent for a long while. "No," a soft pleasant, but deep voice finally answered, "we will not submit to examination."
T'Val sighed. "Then I fear I will have to use my authority to declare your quarters and that of your staff off-limits to Starfleet personnel, as well as make sure that security keeps you in your quarters."
"How dare you," the voice continued, rage clearly audible, "your commanding officer will hear from this!"
"Commodore Loskene has agreed that while we have done our best to meet your requirements, it is time that you will meet one of ours. THe examination is non-intrusive, it consists only of a few scans. Consider this: what if something were to happen and I would not know how to treat your people? Would you then hold me accountable for my lack of knowledge?"
Again, the Polanite remained silent. "Very well, non intrusive only."
T'Val sighed with relief. "I shall await your arrival madam ambassador," she said politely and signed off.
Only a few minutes later, a minute female person entered sickbay, surrounded by even more minute male persons which seemed to be her attendants. "You have requested our presence, here we are," the female said gruffily. She motioned for her male attendants. "Help me up on the biobed, and don't you dare peek under my skirts!"
T'Val gazed at the scene before her in silence. The woman just barely reached above her middle, and the men only came threequarters the length of her own legs. The Vulcan healer picked up her tricorder and quietly began scanning the ambassador. "Curious skin tone," T'Val remarked, "may I touch?"
Ambassador Zyrona nodded quietly, glaring at her attendants. Apparently, one of them had dared to peer under her skirt while they had lifted her onto the bed. T'Val gently touched the woman's skin and feathers, stiffling a gasp as the touch generated a brief one-way telepathic link. "Soft," she commented, "feeling like the skin of a peach, despite the roughness of the feathers."
Zyrona gazed at the giant woman before her. "Peach?" she enquired.
"An earth fruit," T'Val explained, "once ripe very sweet wich a pinkish skin that is covered with small soft hairs. Your skin feels like it when I touch it."
Zyrona gazed her over. "Your skin is curious also," she commented, "it looks as if you're moulding, so green."
T'Val raised an eyebrow at the woman's bluntness. "My blood is based on copper, hence it colours my skin green. A human's blood is based on iron, which causes the skintone to appear pink." At last she completed her scans. "You may step down, you appear to be completely healthy."
She turned to the men, and she continued to take scans of them too, ending in giving them a clean bill of health too. At last, T'Val performed a slight bow. "I thank thee for thy co-operation," she said formally.
"At least you have manners," Zyrona commented, returning the bow.
"My bondmate is an ambassador to the Romulan empire," T'Val explained, "I am looking forward to meeting with you again ambassador. Again, thank you for your co-operation. Commodore Loskene shall be pleased."
Zyrona bowed again and left sickbay with her entourage in tow. T'Val entered her office and fed the newly gathered data into the computer, and sent a report to Loskene. Next, she walked down to the transporterroom and had herself beamed to the Victory.
"Greetings, I am Healer T'Val, I am here to consult with scientist Firestorm and Doctor Paris. I have gathered genetic data on the Polanites."
<anyone wanna welcome her aboard?>

"No. No allergies, no health complaints." Responded Johnson taking in the appearence of his new CMO.
"Ok. Thank you Doctor." said Johnson politely and left sickbay.

Johnson walked onto the bridge after having FINALLY leaving his things in his quarters 15 minutes earlier.
He walked onto the bridge. He stood just out of the turbolift doors at the aft of the bridge for a few moments and took it all in. It was good to be back. He looked around at all the crew members manning their stations and finally felt he was at home again.
As he walked a little further out he was spotted by a crew member who was manning an aft station.
Brian O'Malley (npc) walked over to Johnson and shook his hand.
"Alex, how are ye?" exclaimed O'Malley as he wrung Johnson's hand.
"I'm ok, thanks Brian." said Alex, smiling at the man's enthusiam. O'Malley had been at the academy with him. They weren't close friends, but they were friends.
Then Alex spotted the pips on the man's collar.
"Chief Warrant Officer?" asked Alex in surprise, "When I left you were an ensign.
"Ah, well...I uh...got into a spot of bother with the Commodore."
"What did you do?" asked Alex incredulously.
"Nothin' personal, no, no no. I like the Commodore, he's a good man. No, ye see, at our last stop, I was fortunate enough to pick up a few cases of good ol' Irish whiskey. Well, me an' a few o' the boys were drinkin' one night, and we didn't realise how much we had drunk an' well, ye know, one thing led te another an'...well...I made a bit of a blunder with an Andorian Ambassador, well, I was feelin' a bit romantic...ye know..."
"You...harrassed her?" asked Alex barely believing it.
"Well, sort of..."
"How can you sort of harrass someone?" asked Alex.
"Oh no, the harrassin' was definite, it's just that...well, the ambassador was a he...not a she."
Alex shook his head laughing.
"As you were...chief." he said and continued down the bridge as Commander Matthew appeared from Loskene's ready room.
"Lieutenant Johnson." he said coming over to shake Alex's hand.
"Commander." said Johnson shaking his hand, "It's good to be back."
<Matthew>
Commander Matthew continued, "We're a little short staffed at the moment, we're without an operations officer, we could use your experience at that post."
"Of course sir." said Johnson and took his position at the ops station.

"Oh?" Kurzan asked, surprised. He had been told that he had been in charge of meals. Though Kurzan didn't mind, he was used to working for Starfleet, as it was on the last away mission. "Well...yes, the food is nearly ready. It will need a few hours to...ahem....sit and settle..." Kurzan trailed off, not sure what else to say about the monstrosity of the meal.
"Actually" Kurzan began, "That would be quite a welcome change for me." Kurzan said with a mysterious yet calm pleasant smile. "I'd say this room could use a new smell. How about something with lots of garlic?" he asked.
"It will be adequate" Kurzan said simply. "The other suites are currently lacking in decor and the lighting is terrible. Well, I do hope you enjoy indulging in their culture and food. I for one am glad that I'm not a Starfleet officer. I will be eating a nice meal of Tellarite boar with a side of Toh'Maire stew." Kurzan said with a smile.

Owen was running a diagnostic on the computer bank when the room went dark. He instantly cancelled his diagnostic and restarted the power to the lights. The only thing he could do at this point was to trace who accessed the power grid.
"Ensign Rowe. What were you doing accessing the power grid?" Owen asked keeping his voice as calm as possible.
"Well sir I was running a level one diagnostic of the lighting system in this room."
"And WHAT gave you the crazy idea to do something as stupid as that! You could have shut off life support or even the power for the whole ship!" Owen exploded.
Ensign Rowe looked extremely ashamed and his face had turned bright red. Owen's anger cooled off as he thought about how to reprimand the officer.
"Ensign, I'm relieving you of duty for two days and filing a minor reprimand. Dismissed."
As ensign Rowe left the room Owen turned to the rest of the crew.
"Finish up what your doing and get some rest, your shifts are over."
Owen watched them finish up and once everyone had left he headed to his quarters to refresh. He knew that he'd have to attend the meal with the ambassadors and he'd also have to attend the meeting with the Jefferson's senior staff.

"But you will of course be joining us." Luke said simply. "I am sure our guests will be extremely interested in meeting the culinary master who created these dishes."
Luke looked at Kurzan and saw his disgruntled look and continued before he could object. "The dress code will be formal, but I have no doubt that you will be able to find something apropriate. I am thinking the meal will be served around 1900. I will see you in Ambassadorial Suite 1 then."
Luke left before Kurzan could argue. He headed towards the turbolift that would take him to the bridge and just as he entered he tapped his comm badge.
"All senior crew, this is Commander Dowding. Please report to the Briefing room on Deck 1 within the next 15minutes. Dowding out." He tapped his comm badge, closing the comm and fixed a smile on his face as he entered the bridge. The smell of that 'food' had caused an unpleasant look to creep across his face.
Lieutenant Commander Paris rose from the centre chair as Luke walked onto the bridge.
"Commander." She said. "I believe Healer T'Val from the Jefferson has just beamed over. She is in tranporter room 2."
"Please send a member of your staff to meet her Commander. I need you in the briefing room as soon as possible."
"Yes Sir. I think Firestorm, although not a member of my staff, will be able to meet the Healer as he is not a member of the senior staff." Paris replied.
"Very well. Can you please see to that?" Luke asked. Paris nodded and walked over to Firestorm, a few words were exchanged and then the feline left the bridge. "Please retain command of the bridge for a moment Commander." Luke said to Paris. "I need to have a brief word with Commodore Walker."
Luke walked into the Commodore Walker's ready room as Paris sat back down in the centre chair.
"Yes Commander." Walker said, whilst reading a padd. His desk was strewn with various padds and documents.
"I have arranged a small briefing with the senior staff in 10 minutes. Just to let them know who I am and what time the meal is tonight." Luke said.
"Understood Commander, I may join you in a moment. However, I am sure you are quite capable of doing this by yourself and I really need to get this done before the meal tonight." Walker replied.
"Of course Commodore, if you are unable to attend the briefing the meal will be held in Ambassadorial Suite 1 at 1900 hours. Dress code of course."
"Of course Mr. Dowding. Thank you for your time."
Luke nodded and left the ready room. Relieving Paris of command he sat down in the centre chair and reviewed the engineering report. Top marks, he couldn't find fault in anything. The Cheif Engineer of the Victory sure had some talent.
After he had finished reading the report Luke exited the bridge, leaving command to a rather excited looking Lieutenant. He entered the briefing room and stood by the console and screen.
Eventually the senior staff all came in and took their seats. Luke smiled at them all and straightened his uniform jacket. Tiffani winked at him, obviously knowing that he was a little nervous.
"Greetings all. I am Commander Dowding, the new FO of the Victory. Many of you have already spoken with and worked with me already, however I have yet to formally introduce myself. I am looking forward to working with you all and I am sure that the Victory will continue with her excellent service record."
He paused and then continued. "But we first must attend to business. I am sure you are all aware that we and the Jefferson are carrying some important Ambassadors that are on their way to peace talks and conferences. This evening, the senior staff of the Victory are all required to be in Ambassadorial Suite 1 at 1900 hours to join in a meal with our guests. The wearing of a dress uniform is required, no exceptions. Any questions? No? Good then you are dismissed. I will see you all at 1900 hours sharp."
The senior staff filed out and just before Tiffani left Luke motioned for her to come over.
"This evening Tiffani I need you to be extra aware of the Baltorian's emotions. Just let me know after the evening what they were feeling."
Tiffani nodded. "Thanks Tiff." The two of them left the Briefing room and Luke relieved command off the Lieutenant who looked extremely forlorn for having to give up the centre chair.
Before sitting down Luke noticed that Firestorm was back on the bridge and this time with a guest. Luke assumed that this must be Healer T'Val. He approached them.
"Greetings, I am Commander Dowding - FO of the Victory. How are you findign our ship." Luke said addressing the Healer and offering his hand in a traditional human handshake, wondering if the Vulcan would accept.
<TAG Healer T'Val>
