Daya quickly gathered the few PADDs he had and downloaded the 3-d version of his battle plan, hoping to make a sightly good impression.
Walking briskly towards the observation room, He made a quick stop by sickbay, and saw The doctor leaving with Tedak, he quickly caught up to them and walked the rest of the way with them.
Daya found his seat and waited, putting the PADDs on top of the table, he looked around.

One of the greatest things about working on the bridge was the fact that you would never be late to a meeting and that was the case this time as well. Matt's gut told him that there would be a final briefing called and so he got some PADD's and walked into the room.
Sure enough a couple of minutes later, Matt heard the comm calling all senior officer's to the meeting. Matt smiled at his wittiness and just waited for the others to arrive.
The first person to arrive were Commander Matthews and Rear Admiral Loskene, which were quickly followed by Alex, Jeff, and the doctor accompanied by Tedak and Daya.
Matt quickly got up when he saw that Tedak was injuried, but realized that it was not that serious or he would have heard something. Once he realized that everything was okay, he gave up his seat to the doctor and Tedak and took the last chair available.
"Well everyone you know why we are here........."

Billi nodded and smiled at the Commander. "Thank you Sir." she said quietly as she took the seat offered to her. While she waited for the rest of the senior staff to settle and the meeting to begin she began turning over what her course of action would be with the patient at her elbow. At least she was able to say one thing about her time since arriving on board the Jefferson. It had not been boring for sure and she had a feeling was about to get much more exciting and more than was bargained for.
She was already running through the procedures she would use to care for the Ambassadors injuries. How long it would take, barring any unforeseen problems. His recovery period and the physical therapy needed afterwards. Ohh life sure would be interesting then wouldn't it she thought with a quick glance at Tedak next to her. Her main concern for now was that he remain comfortable and pain free.
The Commanders voice broke through her thoughts.
"Well everyone you know why we are here........."

Tedak wasn't blind to the curious looks he was getting, but he ignored them all the same. He needed his mind on the briefing, as he wasn't able to make any notes for himself. He watched Nut take up his usual perch somewhere in the room, and keep out of the way of things, while he found himself a seat.
~such a gentleman~ he thought, almost grimly, as he noticed Reynolds giving up his seat for the CMO. He knew he probably should've offered his own seat, so she could sit besides her new friend, but now it was too late. "Sorry," he whispered at her, biting back a moan as he felt handicapped and extremely dependant on others; he wasn't quite used to that.
His gaze locked with hers. ~she's beautiful~ he thought, then instantly felt extremely uncomfortable. Yet he couldn't avert his gaze as he took her features in: her blue/green eyes, her perfectly tanned skin, her reddish blonde hair. Then his attention was drawn back to the meeting, yet he still kept his gaze on her.
Elsewhere in the room, Nut chirped a warning only for Tedak to hear. The Romulan averted his gaze, and fixed it on the chief of operations instead, forcing himself to listen as the meeting progressed.

"alright, where to begin...." Jeff begain. "the technoligy used to almost destroy us was made up of generic parts, and was in too bad of a condition to be any use to us. The planet is Jammed, and I presume the warbirds are claoked. our polaron beam should be able to let us see them. The only question there is wether you want it active or passive."
"Difference?" Mattew asked.
"Active lets you see them farther away and in greater detail, and is much more reliable then passive. However, I don't know if they can detect it." He paused. "I would also like to inform everybody that my assistant apparently had a visit from a starfleet secret ops member last night. he diden't know what he was making, but the work tied in the sheilds, sensors and computer feedback programs, and can pull a great deal of power. I've examined it, It's a cloaking device. Not a very good one, but it would be a suprise to them should we decide to use it."
"A cloaking device?" Daya asked in wonder.
"Not a very good one. we would still disrupt a gas cloud or whatnot, so it could be detected. but most sensors would be fooled by it, and so would the eye. About on par with the one on the ship Kirk first encountered in the Balance of Terror mission."
"anything else?" mattew asked calmly- he and Loskene were the only ones who still had their composure after learning about the cloak.
"We can create a sensor ghost of the Jefferson- And it would fool Tedak's shuttle at least. There is a range built in, so sensor frequncys in the genral range near the shuttle's would be fooled as well. I can't make any garrentees on that fooling them."
"Good enough."

Billi smiled slightly at the Ambassador and placed a hand on his good arm. "It's ok." she tapped the PADDS she'd brought with her. "I'll get notes for both of us." She grew silent as their eyes met, although brief she could tell something had happened with that glance and she found herself feeling warmer and just a slight bit on edge but took a calming breath and let it all wash away. There would be time to contemplate that later, but not now.
She turned her attention to the meeting once the Ambassador turned to listen to what was being said. She leaned back in the chair, propping one of the PADDS on the edge of the table and began to take notes for both herself and the Ambassador.

"Commander, i believe we should use it, i can easily adjust a few of the tactics i created, and they would work much better if we had it, even if it lasted for only a few seconds. We could simply send a shuttle with the Jeffersons single past the planet, and sneak in ourselves, the Romulans would most likely be checking there sensors for the Jefferson, and maybe move out to engage it."

"So, your saying, we have a cloaknig device, when did you learn about this?"
"I learned about it in a high priority tape from Lt. Gerry Mrak, my assistant. he was helping with the sensor shadow when he saw somone modifying the circutry in an area, and he investigated. He determined it to be safe, and learned that it was a starflet secret ops person making the mods."
"How'd he learn that?"
"the phaser he had. I designed a specal phaser for Starfleet specal Ops, and had shown one to him a few days ago. Anyway, he had a self defence weapon on himself, and there was a breif shootout, his stun weapon overran the shield installed on that phaser- I have to look at that design... But I dgress. This morning I got his message, and inspected it myself. It's crude, but made of normal ship parts. Accually quite an accomplishment."

Scene: Observation Lounge, Deck 1, USS JEFFERSON
The lounge was full with the senior staff of the USS Jefferson and Tedak. Matt still didn't know how he had gotten injured, but he could venture a guess. Yet that line of thinking was not the most constructive at the moment, they were here to be briefed on the latest information from Headquarters and anything that they had discovered.
Commander Matthews shortly began his briefing and explained to them what they would meet once they arrived at Stubb's World. They were going to meet three powerful Romulan warbirds. Usually Matt wouldn't worry about facing a warbird; the Jefferson was a Sovereign class ship, but three was a different matter. Still Matt felt relieved to know that the crew had prepared for this and they were all ready to engage the enemy.
Commander Matthews report was quickly followed by the CEO, Lt. Commander Pudlo. It surprised Matt to hear that they had discovered a cloaking device. To be truthful it shocked him since cloaking devices were still illegal on most Federation starships. As Pudlo continued giving his report, Matt in his head did the calculations that would be needed to use it. The device was not going to work on the Jefferson, it is to primitive and the Jefferson is just to big. If the time table for the device was accurate, the best they could hope for was a shuttle.
"I don't recommend that we take that course of action," Matt said," the shuttle might get passed through the Romulans, but what if the Jefferson is forced to retreat or destroyed. I think it would be more prudent to use the device and a shuttle as a decoy. That way we can have an advantage when we the fight begins."
Matt didn't want to chance the lives of any member of the crew and hoped that Admiral Loskene didn't want to either. Yet if someone came up with a better plan than him then they should implement it.
"Does anyone have anymore ideas?" Matt asked to everyone seated in the room.

"well, yes." Jeff responded. "it's not removable. it's wired into the ship, so no shuttle could use it. contrary to your calculations, I can make it work. we have a baseline of 120% of the power that the specs say we should have, and better flux tolerance. I could power up the core to about 170%, but it would be very delicate to handle. If we did that, I would need several people watching the red line. But the way it's rigged right now, it uses about 3 times as much power as our sheilds. We do that, we can't go very fast at the current power rate..."
"But you could up it enough?"
"And more. but it's technically illeagal. but it may be our only chance."
"One question." Matt spoke up. "could you duplicate the configuration on a shuttle? or a runabout perhaps?"
"given an hour, I could do it on any small vessel we have. that's about the time we have. Do we want that? If so, I cna get to work."

Tedak sat up a little straighter, finding that the painkillers were making him just a tad bit drowsy. He couldn't help but finding yet another meeting extremely boring, where valuable time better spent locating Lorenz was being wasted. He noticed that the good doctor was scribbling away furiously on a PADD and he slightly leaned in towards her. "You don't have to literally quote them," he whispered, smiling sweetly at her, "you're not a note taker, just the important bits would do just fine."
He shifted his weight again, so that his arm rested more comfortable on his chest. "Excuse me," he then spoke up, shoving a PADD towards the middle of the table. "I have been doing a little investigating, and a friend of mine has provided me with some interesting information about this vessel." He glanced around, and noted that he was receiving a particularly nasty glance from Reynolds though he presently ignored it, and then noticed that he was receiving suspiscious but also surprised glances.
With aid from the CMO, he got up from his seat and walked over to the information panel on the wall. "It seems this vessel is fitted with a most interesting piece of equipment," he went on, as he called up the information. "This is the Polaric Neutralization Beam or PNb. This device is fired at a disturbance in subspace which upon contact with this beam becomes neutralized. Cloaked vessels form such a disturbance, thus using this device will make them quite visible, and easier targets to fire upon should this become necessary."

It seemed as thought their CEO had prepared for everything and he would make sure that they got to use this technology. Matt was still not comfortable with it and felt as more study was needed, but he also understood that things needed to be done and they needed to be done as quickly as possible.
The conversation quieted a bit and went into a murmur as everyone assembled thought about what had just been said. Yet Matt couldn't help but noticed Tedak and their doctor, Billi. Matt didn't mean to listen onto their conversation, but he couldn't help it and he quickly became very angry. He didn't know why but he just did. Maybe it was because he knew that Tedak was married to a friend of his or was it the fact that he felt something for the women he was talking to at the present moment.
When Matt noticed what he was doing he quickly cursed himself and payed attention to what Tedak was saying.
Matt had read something about the device that Tedak was speaking of. It had been used in conjunction with the USS Vesuvius and Commodore Sonak. Matt quickly downloaded most of the information onto his PADD and read what the thing actually did. The words that had just been spoken by Tedak were the exact ones that were in his PADD. He must really do his homework, Matt thought as he looked at the officers waiting there reactions.
It seemed as though RA Loskene remembered the device well and Matt couldn't tell, but he thought he saw a smile crack on his face. The time that the PNB was used was before Matt had joined the crew, so he couldn't really know if the device worked as good as the PADD described it.
"This device will be able to help us immensely," Matt said finally speaking up," if Mr. Puldo configures the cloaking device we will have a better chance of finding Dr. Lorenz and getting away from here as quickly as possible. We also have to know if this device can somehow be dangerous to living matter."

Loskene was very unsettled by the fact that the Jefferson had been paid a visit by Starfleet Special OPS, with no notification whatsoever. He shrugged it off at the moment, deciding to focus on the more immediate threat.
Loskene: Ambassador, the PNb is a heavy duty device. By using it, it may leave us vulnerable to a possible threat. Nevertheless, if the odds are against us it is always an option. Mr. Daya, I want you to find out what you can about this Special OPS employee, I want this man and I want an explanation from him for his actions. Anything new from Mr. Macromalice? Ahem...Excuse me, Mr. Mavromatis.
<tag Daya>
Loskene stood up and approached a window.
Loskene: I can't sense any immediate danger. Or a subspace disruption which would indicate the presence of a Romulan warp drive in use. Yet I feel that someone or something is nearby. It's time to get this underway. Mr. Pudlo, proceed with your upgrades to the shuttle. I agree with Mr. Reynolds, I want this to be as bloodless as possible. A decoy seems like the best plan so far. Any other ideas from anyone? If not, we begin immediately.

"Any other ideas from anyone?" asked Loskene.
Johnson spoke up, "Sir, I think we should be very sceptical of this cloaking device and this operative. Are we sure he's really from Starfleet? If so, why would he give us a cloaking device that was outlawed by the Treaty of Algeron 90 years ago? If we use that cloaking device, we risk starting a war."

"This guy was starfleet." Jeff spoke up. Mrak too a picture of his phaser. the phasers are individually isued, and the tag on them can be detected with standard ship sensors. Unless you know what it is, I'ts gibberish. Well, they have a security hole ath I sent them a message about righ before the meeting: I was able to track where a specific phaser is assinged- even though I can't get any data on who has it. It's supposed to be here. That's about as close a comfermation as I think we're going to get."
"but there still are leagal concerns." matt pointed out.
"The defiant operated with a cloak with a Romulan operative aboard who authorized and oversaw it's use... We have a romulan aboard. Perhaps that could work as an excuse?"
"Perhaps..."
"They know about our Polaric beam, which was our ace in the hole. we need a new one, and a cloak fills that nicely." Jeff Pointed out. "I just think that we should use anything that we have. 3 warbirds arn't going to be easy to get around."

"Commander Pudlo we are Starfleet officers and we will act accordingly to the law," Matt said without hesitation. The Treaty of Algeron had been established long ago and it was still a prevalent pact, the Romulan Empire had made few exceptions to the rule, and Matt knew that this was not going to be one of those times. Admiral Loskene had kept quiet, so Matt took it upon himself to resolve the conflicting ideas of the senior staff.
"Commander, we all agree with you three warbirds are a serious threat, but we cannot be sure that the Romulans know of our device," Matt said," I'm sure that most of us had no idea that we had the PNB."
The silence that followed told Matt that he was right, no one other than RA Loskene and Commander Matthews had heard of it.
"Okay, look everyone, RA Loskene has given us our orders and we need to follow them," Matt said as he got up from the table. Before Matt was able to make his leave, Commander Matthews spoke up.
After receiving their orders from the commander one by one everyone left the observation lounge and went to work. Matt quickly headed towards towards his station and worked out a plan to deal with the three warbirds. If their initial plan went as planed they would drop out of warp right behind the dead moon. Matt already knew that there would be a 1.4 second window that the Jefferson would be visible to scans, but Matt trusted the abilities of the ships pilot.
Something else that stuck with Matt was the fact that RA Loskene had said that the PNB was vulnerable to attack. Matt knew that before they arrived he would have to work to refortify that part of the ship, because that was the only viable advantage that they held at the moment.
Matt was about to get to work, but remembered what Commander Matthews had said before he had left. They would have to talk about their tactical situation. Luckily for him, Matt had done most of the work that Commander Matthews had ordered.
"Admiral Loskene the ship systems are all ready and I'm awaiting your orders to begin communications blackout," Matt said as he turned around and faced the rest of the staff. Lt. Daya, Commander Matthews, and Johnson were all in attendance and their meeting began.
OCC: I started writing this post before Commander Matthews posted his. So I modified it to fit most of his post. So everything should fit.

When the Ambassador admonished her she sighed. She was used to taking notes, and a lot of them. Being thorough was what being a doctor was all about but for him she would ONLY jot down the important information. So all she did was nod and whisper back "Yes sir."
Billi sat back after helping the Ambassador to his feet. She could tell he was getting uncomfortable but knew too that they both had to be at this meeting and he'd have to hang in there until the meeting was over with. She glanced at Matt when the exchange of glances took place and frowned nudging him beneath the table. She'd ask him later what it was all about.
She contined to listen to those at the meeting and the information being exchanged, taking the notes as the Ambassador had requested.
Billi drew her attention to Commander Matthew when he spoke to her. "Doctor Eviston I will need for you to Assign two medic to Lt Hunter Retraction team.“
She nodded and quickly brought up the roster for the medical department and after a quick glance looked back at the Commander.
"Sir, I will assign Lt. Laura Trevers and Ens. Michael Paulson to the team. I'll adjust the schedule when I get back to sickbay after the meeting."
She finished speaking and tapped the PADD making a note of the roster changes to take affect immediately. She glanced again at the Ambassador beginning to get worried at the fact the pain medications was making him drowsy and that he was still uncomfortable.
The meeting ended shortly after and she stood, helping the Ambassador to his feet. "Come on, lets get you settled in sickbay and get this arm taken care of." She gave Matt a quick look and mouthed the words "we'll talk later" silently before stepping into the turbolift with the Ambassador and heading for sickbay.

Jeff sighed. Istaling a cloking device would be difficult... if not virtualy impossible in the time he had. He slumped agianst the turbolift and tapped his commbadge. "Pudlo to Mrak. Wake up, I need you to help me do what you saw last night on a shuttle."
"Umm... Okay, I think I have the idea. Which bay?" a sleepy voice responded.
"Bay one. we're going to use a biggger shuttle."
"Gotcha. bigger core right?"
"Yes. be there as soon as you can."
the doors slid open and jeff rushed to the type 14 shuttle on ready alert. Looking it over, he smiled at the name- 'Robin Hood.' they would be outlaws too, if they went through with this. a minute later Mrak appeared, and joined Jeff making modifications to an otherwise ordinary power relay acess.

-- Bridge, Observation Lounge --
Billi and the Ambassador left the meeting, and she guided him to sickbay. Nut following them closely. The trip taking longer than she wanted, she could feel the Tedaks anxiety and knew that the small dragon was feeling it as well. "He'll be ok." she said glancing over her shoulder. Her hand on the Ambassadors arm patted his arm and she smiled at him. "I'll take care of you Sir. I promise."

-- Sickbay, deck 8 --
Billi led the Ambassador into one of the private rooms near her office where she could keep an eye on him and make him comfortable but allow him the privacy he deserved as an Ambassador. "You get yourself settled and I'll be back shortly with something for the pain." She left him with a small smile and headed for her office. She had some work to do.

She entered her office and tossed the PADDS onto her desk. After getting a cup of tea from the replicator she sat down, propped her feet up and sent for Lt. Trevers and Ens. Paulson, letting them know of their new assignment and to report immediately. With a few taps on the console she shifted the roster to cover their vacancies and sipped her tea while she mentally worked over the Ambassadors upcoming surgery.
After several minutes she stood and left her office heading back to the Ambassadors room, picking up a tricorder and a hypospray on the way. She stopped at the door. "Ambassador, May I come in?"
She stood outside his room waiting for his response.

The Romulan diplomat was starting to get extremely tired, and therefor was very relieved to find the meeting over very quickly. He hadn't missed the admiral's startled reaction at the mention of the PNB, but it had been a friend within Starfleet who had told him of this device. He would have to remember assuring the admiral that starfleet security had not been compromised on this matter when he was feeling better.
He allowed the CMO to escort him back to sickbay, and ignored Reynolds' nasty glare once more. "I really wonder what is bothering him," he muttered, not really for anyone to hear. Once back in sickbay, which had taken quite a while to get there, he was escorted into a private room. Nut settled on the foot of the bed while Tedak struggled to get the sling off, struggled out of his robe and into the sickbay attire.
For some odd reason, he felt relieved that the female doctor had left him some privacy to get comfortable. It would've been very embarassing if he had to undress before her, even though his own wife was a doctor. ~but that's different~ he thought, feeling his cheeks burn with embarassment as he thought about the subject. He quite liked this doctor, even though she was a little young, and he was still married. He hissed when the short sleeve of the sickbay attire got into contact with his injury. The skin around the cut was still very tender, even though the rest of his arm still had no sensation at all. This surprised the Romulan immensely, as he'd been informed several tendons had been severed. He had no use of his left hand at all.
At last Nut hopped forward and with the little brown's assistance he was finally able to get the tunic on. He had just barely settled onto the bed, when the doctor appeared again and asked if she could come in. Tedak forced a smile. "But of course doctor, and thank you very much for taking notes for me. However, do please keep that operations chief out of my way. I don't know what's with him but I doubt I would be here if he was able to kill with that look he gave me."

Scene: Sickbay, Deck 7, USS JEFFERSON
The meeting between Admiral Loskene, Commander Matthews, Daya, and himself had ended a few minutes ago and Matt felt as if the ship and crew were ready for what they were about to face. Matt felt a huge boost of confidence when Admiral Loskene took his recommendations over the others, but yet one thing still bothered Matt.
That was the fact that Tedak a Romulan Ambassador knew of a technology on the Jefferson that had been restricted and for all intended purposes was classified. Matt didn't even know about the PNB until Tedak had said something. Matt didn't let his surprise show in the meeting, but when he asked for the information about the PNB, he was asked for security clearance.
So here he was, outside of sickbay not knowing if what he was doing was the right thing to do. He trusted T'Val, but to be honest he didn't know Tedak. So he walked in and was surprised to see that sickbay was empty, but he was hearing some voices coming from a private room.
"Doctor is that you?" Matt asked knowing the answer. A few seconds later Doctor Eviston walked out of the room and smiled at him. She had said that they needed to talk later, but right now Matt needed to talk to Tedak.
"Doctor may I talk to Ambassador Tedak?"
"I don't know, Commander, I feel that it.....," the doctor said before she was interrupted by Tedak.
"It's okay doctor I will talk to him," Tedak said as he looked at directly at Matt. Matt stared back and walked into the private room.
"Tedak, how do you know more about this ship than me?" Matt said before Tedak could get a word out" in fact how the hell do you know about sensitive material like the PNB. I noticed RA Loskene reaction when you spoke of it, he was surprised as well."
