.: Captain's Ready Room :. Zhukarak had just stepped out from the lavatory, after having splashed some water on his face in order to refresh himself. He sat back down at his desk, going over the final reports of the resupply and refits that had been done to the Jefferson. Everything had been completed in a timely fashion. All they needed now was a mission.
Zhuk's terminal bleeped, indicating an incoming transmission. Placing his finger over the appropriate button caused the terminal to change from the reports that he was studying to bring forth a very familiar image.
"Captain...I apologize...Commodore Jira. It is good to see you, and that extra pip on your collar suits you. Congratulations again."
"To you as well, Zhukarak. I have a mission for you. Remember that nebula you were sent out to study during your ACTC at the academy? Well, it's on its way out of our sector, but Admiral Lin wants to have some more studies done on it. He was intrigued by your last report of it. So I'm sending you out to revisit it."
Zhuk thought back to his last encounter with that nebula. They had located a dormant Dominion ship within it, along with its crew in stasis ever since the war. It had been a delicate situation as reviving them had been a potential cause for an engagement with them.
"Yes, I remember. Is there anything in particular we should be looking for?"
The newly promoted Commodore was looking down at his notes before he looked back up to respond. "Standard research really. The makeup of it. In particular, what may have caused that Jem'Hadar attack ship to have become dormant...if the nebula was the cause. One more thing...you will be taking along a guest. An attache to the Klingon High Council, an Ambassador Kralok. We have an agreement to exchange scientific information on nebulae with the Klingons. He is here to observe our studies. You depart in four hours."
"Sounds good, sir. I just have to recall my crew and we'll be on our way. If that is all, it was good seeing you again...Harrias."
"Same here, Zhuk. That is all I have for you. I wish you the best on your first mission as Captain." Harrias gave a wave 'good bye' before his hand went out of sight below the screen to cut the transmission.
Zhuk tapped his comm badge to activate it. "Commander Matthew. Would you please see me in my Ready Room, thank you."
=/\= On my way, Captain. =/\=
It only took a few seconds for Commander Matthew to arrive as he was undoubtedly on the bridge going over his own reports.
"Commander Matthew, please issue out a recall for all Jefferson crew members to report for duty. We are departing within four hours. We'll have a mission briefing in the observation lounge in two."
<James>
~ Hm, a Klingon Ambassador. ~ Theel'zhiin appeared from 'between' and came to settle on Zhuk's lap. "That should keep our ambassadors busy." Zhuk mused to his guardian as he patted him on his head.

Billi made her way back to the Jefferson passing through the necessary checkpoints. Her duffle in one hand and in the other a PADD containing her ‘to do’ list. On the top of the list, .. doing something about that EMH. His attitude had to go.
She laughed to herself as she headed down to sickbay. She had two hours to see what had been done to her office and sickbay itself since they had been docked.
She stepped around the workmen who were completing work in the corridor and entered sickbay, taking a few minutes to just stand there and look around. The last time she’d been in here ... she’d been one of the patients, and not the doctor.
The main room in sickbay was cleared of debris, much different than her last visit. The glass wall of her office had been repaired, everything bright and shiny as if the ship was fresh off the assembly line.
She quickly walked through to her office, no one around when she entered. It was quiet and peaceful. How long would it remain like this, she wondered as she placed the PADD on her desk and picked up a couple which sat on the edge of the desk. She would read them over while waiting for the staff meeting.
Billi didn’t have time to sit and enjoy the peace, she had to unpack and get back into uniform. So ....
Off she went, walking through the ship, so silent and still while sitting in space dock. The only people she encountered between sickbay and her quarters were a few who were pulling duty stations while the ship was being repaired, which from the looks would be finished soon and a few workmen.
The door to her quarters opening at her approach. It didn’t take her long to put away her few things, and change into her uniform. An hour after setting foot back on the ship she was headed for the bridge. She was early but that didn’t matter. It felt good to be back on board.

On the planet where Jeff had been spending Shore leave- quietly, without even his commbadge- a message came in for him at his hotel. About an hour later, Jeff picked it up at the desk wen he walked in. Reading it, he sped up, and Packed up his suitcase, and took his commbadge out of the hotel safe. He signaled the hotel to close is account, and tapped the badge. "Pudlo To Jefferson, One to beam up."
"Acknowledged. We are currently recalling personnel, please wait and we will signal you when we are ready" A voice he didn't recognize replied.
"Override that order, I have priority as a senior officer."
"What is your order code?" Jeff rolled his eyes at that one....
"I don't have time for that. just use a voice-print." A pause.
"Confirmed. Stand by." A second later, the transporter beam swept him back to the Jefferson. ------ Once aboard, he strode to his quarters and tossed the suitcase on the bunk, pausing a moment to admire the view from his quarters, looking down over the saucer from right below the bridge. I'll never tire of that view he thought, and headed to the bridge.

“ATTENTION ALL OFFICERS AND CREW OF THE USS JEFFERSON A GENERAL RECALL ORDER HAS BEEN ISSUED YOU ARE TO REPORT BACK ON BOARD TO YOUR SHIP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE “
The crew of the USS Jefferson had been called back to their ships only a couple minutes ago, but Matt was already there. He had enjoyed the rest and relaxation immensely, but he wanted to get back to work. He also wanted to spend time with the person next to him.
In the week that they had been on the Starbase, Matt had spent only about 25% of his time with Caleb and that was something that he had never ever wanted. Caleb was away roaming and causing chaos everywhere he went and Matt was saddened that he wasn't there to enjoy it all.
"Caleb, did you get everything that you wanted at the Starbase?" Matt asked as he carried five bags full of things.
"Yep, I got everything I wanted, but I didn't get as much as last time," Caleb said as held onto Matt's arm.
"Yeah and that's a good thing for my back," Matt said smiling. The last time he had been on the starbase Caleb had brought almost 50 bags full of stuff that he wanted. Matt was almost positive that he had already used or played with them all, which amazed him even more.
"Matt, do you know where we are going this time?" Caleb as sounding a bit worried. Matt didn't answer right away as he had a bit of a problem entering their room.
"No Caleb, I don't know, but I don't want you to worry about it," Matt said as he took Caleb into his arms. He usually would of fought him, but he chose not to." I know that I got hurt last mission, but that won't happen this time, I promise."
"You promise," Caleb said as he looked deep into Matt's eyes."
"Yes, I won't get hurt, I never want to scare you like I did last time," Matt said as he hugged him. "I will not let anyone hurt you either."
"Of course, I know that," Caleb said getting back to his old self.

Scene: Bridge, Deck 1, USS JEFFERSON
Matt hadn't really spoken to any of the senior staff since he had left the bridge in disgrace. He was having a fit thinking of what they would say when they saw him, but he made himself relax. It wouldn't do anyone any good if Matt couldn't perform his duties.
Luckily for him he wouldn't have to deal with that at the moment as everyone on the bridge were repair teams. It seemed as known one except Billie, whom he had seen on his way towards his quarters was on board.
"Commander, its nice to see you again," a crewman said to him.
"Crewman Larod, its nice to see you to, I hope that you had an eventful R&R," Matt said smiling at the young Andorian.
"Yes sir, I did," he responded as his antennas started to twitch. Matt saw this and asked no more questions, the man must of really enjoyed his R&R.
=^=This is Commander Matthews, All senior staff officer report at 1500 hours to the Observation Lounge for the mission debriefing=^=
Matt looked at the chronometer and saw that the meeting would be taking place in a hour and ten minutes, which would give him enough time to get a lot of work done.

Jeff sat at the engineering console, with the OPS screen puled up next to him temporarily, just to keep an eye on things. in a minute, Commander Matthew's announcement came on.
=^=This is Commander Matthews, All senior staff officer report at 1500 hours to the Observation Lounge for the mission debriefing=^=
Jeff smiled. He had time to inspect engineering. it was only 1350. Taking the opportunity, he came over to engineering. from his office perch, he could see Gerry Mrak directing things from the central command area. Hopping on a lift, he came down to Mrak.
"Every-thing's working just fine Commander. Don't worry, the dock turkeys didn't mes anything up."
"Nothing?" Jeff replied incredulously.
"No, when they do work they call it repair and upgrade. But they repaired and upgraded to your specs- I made sure of that."
"Much appreciated. Anything new from starfleet?"
A gadget, hardly worth mentioning. we can now feed power to the primary and secondary batteries at once- though it splits the power, so it's not a big improvement. only ups it 10%. Other then that and a new Tractor Beam- no differences really, just designed to handle more power."
"Did you test it?"
"Of course. It works just as promised. I will improve it when I'm done working on the separation power-flow cutoffs."
"Carry on then. Any other news?"
The normal crewman rotation- you know how it is- and you probably heard that they're introducing the Starfleet special ops phasers fleetwide, available to officers."
"Actually, that's news to me. is it the one I designed, or another model?"
"The one you designed. The memo released said that the personal shield would be extremely useful in combat situations when coupled with the phaser, and should not be withheld for any one branch, but should be kept to officer approved use only."
"I suppose that's all well and good. Now I'm going to have a look around just to check things over."

A scant ten minutes after Billi had left his quarters, Tedak heard his terminal beep, indicating an incoming subspace transmission. ~odd~ he thought, noting that Lily hadn't even warned him that a message was incoming, usually the computer was more than willing to engage him into a conversation.
The Romulan raised his eyebrows in surprise and exchanged a surprised glance with both his firelizards, which had settled before him on the terminal. He wasn't entirely sure that putting a Romulan and a Klingon together would be a good idea, however he remembered his pleasant working relationship with Envoy K'Tar, also of the Klingon Empire.
While he moved to pack a few personal belongings, he tapped his combadge. "Ambassador Tedak to Ambassador Damis," he called, "we are to report back to the Jefferson as soon as possible. I'll meet you at the docking hatch in fifteen minutes. That should give you enough time to pack a few things. I've forwarded the message I received from Captain Hrisvalar to your terminal for reviewing."
With that, he slung his bag over his shoulder, passed a mirror to check whether his appearance was presentable and dignified, then set out towards the Jefferson.
~~ somewhat later~
Tedak and Rin entered the Jefferson bridge; the Andorian commanding officer was hard to miss and they stepped down towards the command level. "Ambassador Tedak reporting," he stated, stiffling a laugh. It almost felt as though he was back in his younger days, when he was still a subordinate officer on a Romulan warship. That had been twenty years ago, though the memories were still fresh in his mind. "Has the Klingon ambassador arrived yet?" he continued.

"Ambassador Tedak reporting."
Matt heard Tedak's voice from behind him, but he already knew that Rin was right at his side as he felt her presence in his mind. At first it was an awkward feeling, but as they spent more time together it became a feeling of security and love.
"Has the Klingon ambassador arrived yet?" he continued.
"No sir, the ambassador has not yet arrived on the ship," Matt reported," personal on the station have told me that he was held back by a minor problem."
Rin smiled as Matt turned around, careful to keep her thoughts and emotions in check. Her cheeks flushing slightly but just as quickly she regained her composure. ~~Hi ...~~ she said, speaking in Matt’s mind.
~Hi, sorry that I couldn't see you in the last couple of days, I had to tend to Caleb~ Matt said keeping a straight face as Tedak and Col. Hrisvalar kept on talking.
~~It’s ok, I shouldn’t have taken all your time~~ She frowned slightly and turned to listen to the Captain and Tedak as they conversed
~Well, Caleb didn't really seem to mine, Matt said~ as he chuckled a bit, which brought the attention of some of the repair crews. ~Also I'm very happy to know that your still going to be on the Jefferson~
~~I am sure he wasn’t all that happy having me take up all your time. But I too am glad to be here.~~ Rin bit her lip as they chatted. Keeping her features even and her attention on the discussion going on not far from where she stood.
Matt knew that she would be able to feel his emotions, but he didn't care. He wanted her to know how much he wanted her company around him. ~If you want I can stop talking so we both can pay attention to what is going one right now ~
~~I want to spend time with you.~~ And she did, more than anything. The time they had shared on the station something special. ~~But neither of us can do anything which might get us in more trouble.~~ The fact that she was still allowed on the Jefferson was a miracle in itself.
~I know, but I would gladly quit Starfleet to be with you, Rin~ Matt responded. He knew that she would kill him if he did, but she really meant that much to him. ~Plus I don’t plan on getting into trouble, do you?~
Rin shook her head slightly at his words. There was no way she would let him quit Starfleet and he knew that. ~~I plan on behaving myself. I don’t need the Captain tossing me off the ship the first chance he gets.~~
~Good, because I don't really want to get demoted again, Matt said as he heard his console beeping at him.
"Col. Ambassador Kralok is approaching the Jefferson, I'm told that its honorable that the CO of the ship meets him when he comes onto the ship," Matt reported.
Rin turned her full attention back to the Captain and Tedak who had been speaking during this time. Letting Matt get back to his job and she to hers. For now she didn’t have much to do other than watch and learn and try not to get too distracted.
Matt knew that it was likely that he wouldn't be able to talk to Rin, alone for a couple more hours, but for now he needed get back to work and very soon she would be doing hers and meeting with the Klingon. ~Good luck, Rin~
~~Thanks Matt. Find me after you get off your shift~~ With that she focused her whole being on the job ahead.
~Okay, sure thing~
"Col. Ambassador Kralok is asking permission to come aboard," Matt reported.
"Okay, tell them that I will be their shortly," the commanding officer said as he and the two ambassadors joined him in the turbolift.

There was little less than an hour left before the briefing. The turbolift doors opened and the two Ambassadors, Tedak and Damis, arrived on the bridge. Ambassador Tedak inquired about the arrival of the Klingon Ambassador. Commander Reynolds eagerly replied that he had been delayed. It appeared to Zhuk that his Ops officer became preoccupied the moment the Ambassadors arrived. He understood why.
Bringing his own attention back to Ambassador Tedak, he decided he needed to clear the air a little bit. "Ambassador Tedak, I don't ever expect you to 'report' to me. I am not your superior, although I am Captain of this ship. I only ask that you respect my position here, as I do yours, and that you don't do anything that may jeopardize this ship or its crew."
<Tedak>
As Tedak was responding, it was obvious that the young female Ambassador and Matt Reynolds were quite distracted with each other. Theel'zhiin was perched close by and through him Zhukarak could feel the sense the intimate 'conversation' they were having with each other. It wasn't hard for Zhuk to figure out that these two were head over heals for each other. ~ This will be an interesting mission. ~ Zhuk thought to himself. Theel'zhiin gave a little squawk and fluttered his wings in agreement.
When Commander Reynolds announced that Ambassador Kralok was ready to come aboard, Zhuk rose from his command chair in preparation of greeting him. "Commander Matthew, you have the bridge. Ambassadors, shall we?" Zhukarak, Ambassador Tedak, and Ambassador Damis stepped into the turbolift to go greet their Klingon guest.

“USS JEFFERSON Commander Matthew sat quietly at his desk, sipping a steaming cup of tea as he leafed through the small pile of PADDs on his desk.
“Computer Start first officer Log “
It’ has not been a so quiet two weeks on board the Jefferson for me with the Promotion and Transfer of Admiral Loskene To Star Base Assailant and the his new Commanding officer coming on board with A different way of doing things, it been a hard two weeks ,he mused as he sipped his tea again.
Then, gently, he placed the cup on its saucer. "Continue recording," he said softly.
The computer acknowledged his command with a soft chirp of its own. He cleared his throat. "The past few months Star fleet intelligent reports everything have been relatively quiet along the Gorn Hegemony border; apparently, the scuffle in the Tybiiran Asteroid Belt took more steam out of them than we thought,
" he mused I hope my Friend Cmdr Samuel Terry is ok the last time we talk he was transferring over to become her new XO.
" James paused briefly, stared out of his portal at the Star Ships in space dock .

Scene: Bridge, Deck 1, USS JEFFERSON
Matt saw Col Hrisvalar, Tedak, and Rin leave the bridge quickly and he took the spot at the center chair. Alex was still not on the bridge and Commander Matthews was likely on his way here, so for the time being he was the senior officer in charge.
"Operations please run a Level four scan on all major systems, we don't want to find out we have a problem while we are away on mission," Matt said sitting uncomfortably on the command chair.
"Aye sir," was the response from his station and it was quickly followed with the swoosh of the lift opening. He was expecting to see Commander Matthews or someone else, but in walked Billi Eviston the doctor of the USS Jefferson.
Billi glanced around the bridge and smiled seeing Matt, she approached the center seat. She stopped just short of the chair and saluted. "Figured I better report in Sir." As unexpected as it was to see him in the center seat, it was a welcome sight.
Matt returned the saluted and smiled. He didn't really think about people saluting him, but to be honest he liked it. "Billi their is no reason for you calling me sir, just like I told you a couple of weeks ago, its just Matt."
She relaxed slightly, clasping her hands behind her back as she took a stance next to him. "We're on duty, it's the right thing to do." She glanced over at him. "How's the leg?"
Matt laughed at her explanation, but it was true. It was regulation and they said it had to be done.
"My leg, well to me its good as new, but I'm not a doctor," Matt said smiling.
Billi laughed lightly. "That you are not. Probably should give you a check up on that leg before I clear you for full duty." She had not checked his leg since before shore leave and knew he would need a full physical before being cleared.
"I thought I had already been cleared by the docs on the starbase?" Matt asked.
"Are they the ones who will have to put you back together?" she said. Billi winked but her tone was serious. She had the records from the starbase and knew he was ok to go back to full time duty but this was her one stab at him just for fun.
"Okay, but you know that I don't like to be prodded with big needles," Matt said jokingly hoping that she would relax and forget about her request. He hadn't told anyone, but he had coaxed one of the doctor's on the base to give him a favorable report and he knew that Billi wouldn't do the same for him.
"I'll make sure there are no big needles." She shook her head. "When Cmdr. Matthews shows up I want you to come directly to sickbay. I won't drag you away now," She wasn't going to forget her request or the fact that all the senior staff was going to get physicals.
Matt faked a laugh and knew that their would be know way out of this one. His leg did feel better and he could walk fine without his cane, but every so often he did feel a sharp pain go through his leg. "Okay, but please not after he comes to the bridge, the briefing is going to start shortly. How about after the briefing?"
Billi shrugged. "Ok, after the briefing, we can go down together then." She hated being away from her domain, sickbay was where she was most comfortable.
"Thanks Billi, and I would like to apologize to you and Tedak for not being very conversational at our lunch, I was preoccupied," Matt said knowing that he was really thinking about Rin most of the time and not of Tedak and what had happened." If you can please tell Tedak that I'm sorry too, it might take a while before I'm off duty to tell him."
"I'm sure he would like that. I'll see what I can arrange so you two can talk." she was going to let the two men sort out what happened, while she took Rin for a tour of the ship. The poor girl had not seen much of the ship at all during the last mission and she was going to make sure she knew her way around.
"I will really appreciate that, I think I should just forget what happened last time," Matt said laughing realizing that the reason that he had gotten in trouble was because of the person in front of him.
Billi flushed and looked away briefly. "That might be a good idea." she let out a sigh still sorry that the whole fight started because of her.
"Commander, Col. Hrisvalar is heading up here with the three ambassador's," the ops officer reported," should I prep the conference room?"
"Yes, please do," Matt said," Billi if you please follow me."
"Yes Sir." she flashed him a smile and stepped back allowing him to take the lead as they headed for the conference room and the briefing.
"Why thank you doctor," Matt said returning the smile and leading them into the conference room. A short minute later the general announcement went out calling all senior officer into the conference room.

Alex was in his quarters. He was finishing off a report that he had neglected to do. He was a bit preoccupied with Loskene's departure. He had always liked Loskene, he was a nice guy, a Starfleet guy.
He wasn't sure about his successor. This man was a marine. He had never really liked Section 47's decision to introduce marines into the section. Starfleet didn't need marines; they were more than capable of handling things themselves. During the time he had spent with his grandfather, he told Alex that he had had trouble with marines in the past, but they came in useful at times.
Still, Alex wasn't sure if he liked the idea of putting a marine in charge of a ship of exploration.
At that moment, he received a call to the observation lounge, so that's where he headed.

"Ambassador Tedak, I don't ever expect you to 'report' to me. I am not your superior, although I am Captain of this ship. I only ask that you respect my position here, as I do yours, and that you don't do anything that may jeopardize this ship or its crew."
The Romulan nodded. "I would not dare to cause hazard to the crew or the ship captain," he replied, looking the Andorian squarely in the eyes, "what happened at the farewell party was a misunderstanding, and it has been resolved. It will not happen again. As for reporting, I used to be a military man myself and thus understand the chain of command, I assume it is just a habit to report to the commanding officer of a ship. See it as a sign of respect to rank."
Perched on Tedak's shoulder, Nut noticed the younger blue firelizard that was now fluttering his wings. The brown firelizard chittered a greeting at the blue, which had been the product of his mating with Aeris, the golden firelizard belonging to Ambassador Saarok. He wrapped his tail a little tighter around his bondmate's throat as he fluttered his own wings. Only when his bondmate gently tapped his back did he quiet down and released the hold with his tail.
Theel'zhiin was overly happy to see his own kind. He was ready to go disappear for a while with Nut, to go play. However, he had sensed from Zhukarak that now was not the time...he wanted him by his side during this briefing.
"Commander Matthews, you have the bridge. Ambassadors, shall we?" Zhukarak, Ambassador Tedak, and Ambassador Damis stepped into the turbolift to go greet their Klingon guest.
"By all means," the Romulan agreed, "I am looking forward to meeting my Klingon collegue. I have worked with a Klingon envoy before, though it was very briefly. Their ways of working are different, but unique on their own accord. Naturally, they see anything that goes wrong as someone else's fault, and every invention is theirs, but working with them can be very refreshing."
Tedak turned to Rin. "Diplomats of any kind of species have their own unique way of working as you may observe soon. As you know, Klingons and Romulans have never been the best of friends, so he is bound to throw some obcenities at us. However if you stand up to them, you will earn their respect. Act cowardly, or dishonourably and you will have lost their respect forever. Klingons admire strength and honour, no matter what the species."

{This is a combined Billi/Rin post, to save space and me having to make two posts}
[Observation Lounge]
Billi sat down with Matt upon entering the observation lounge, her mind going back to the last time she’d joined Matt like this. Would this cause problems when the Ambassadors arrived. She hoped not, she wasn’t in the mood to get in the middle of anymore love spats. Hoping that the two men had made their peace and would act like they should. She settled back in the chair and waited for the meeting to begin.
<tag Matt> -------------- [Meeting the Klingon Ambassador]
Rin listened while Ambassador Tedak and the Captain spoke, she kept a respectful distance behind the two, her ears alert on their words. She glanced at the small fire lizards and sighed, almost knowing what their conversation was about.
She nodded when Ambassador Tedak turned to her and spoke.
"Diplomats of any kind of species have their own unique way of working as you may observe soon. As you know, Klingons and Romulans have never been the best of friends, so he is bound to throw some obscenities at us. However if you stand up to them, you will earn their respect. Act cowardly, or dishonorably and you will have lost their respect forever. Klingons admire strength and honor, no matter what the species."
“I understand Sir.” She spoke quietly, the words of the Captain still ringing in her ears. There was no way she would do anything that would get her in trouble again, at least anytime soon.

At the boarding ramp of the Jefferson, a large, war-hardened, Klingon appeared to step foot onto the Starfleet vessel. Zhukarak was the first to greet him.
"Ambassador Kralok, welcome aboard the USS Jefferson. I am Colonel Hrisvalar, Commanding Officer. This is Ambassador Tedak, and Ambassador Damis. They will also be accompanying us in the observance of this nebula. As Ambassador Tedak is very familiar with this ship, he will serve as your guide and host during this trip. Feel free to have him honor your requests."
"Bah! Honor...from a Romulan...we shall see as I have not met many Romulans to possess that quality. The few that did...I've had the pleasure of spilling their blood."
<Tedak, Rin>
Zhukarak was not surprised at Tedak's response. He didn't expect anything less from this experienced ambassador. After the 'pleasantries' were over, Zhukarak led the way to the Observation Lounge to start the briefing.
.: Observation Lounge - Mission Briefing :.
After the introductions of the Klingon Ambassador and the senior staff, Zhukarak commenced with the briefing (read the first post). In a nutshell it was a research mission, one of many when it came to the investigation of nebulas.
"Any questions, any thoughts?"<Anyone> .: Engineering - During the Briefing :. A young engineering officer was performing his standard checks before the Jefferson got under way. He dilligently went about his duties, knowing that timing was everything. They would have to reach the nebula first, then it would be time.....

"Bah! Honor...from a Romulan...we shall see as I have not met many Romulans to possess that quality. The few that did...I've had the pleasure of spilling their blood."
"There is always a time for learning new things ambassador," Tedak responded calmly, "and I would like to believe that I am not every Romulan you may have met, nor that everyone else has met. I would prefer you judge me on my actions, rather than on the actions of my species. I will most certainly try to judge you on yours, rather than that of your species. Indeed, you are fortunate that I have not had the misfortune of having had to spill Klingon blood, even when I still had my own Warbird."
The Romulan diplomat didn't miss the approving glance from the Andorian captain, and he certainly did not miss the scoffing sound the Klingon made. "Let us proceed," he proposed, "so that we may get down to the nature of our mission. I am looking forward to seeing this nebula for myself, as I have indeed read the reports on it. Ambassador, I would gladly share the reports I have been given with you, so that you may form your own opinion. They are intriguing to say the least."
~at the meeting~
"I have a question Colonel," Tedak spoke up, as he tore his eyes away from the PADD he was holding. "Your report states that you have successfully brought a Vorta out of stasis, a Vorta that was found on the Dominion vessel you recovered in the Nebula. Are there any non-classified reports available as to what happened to this-" He glanced at his PADD once more. "- Gelvan, after he was rescued? I fear your report is rather vague on that issue. Also, I would like to learn more of this anomaly that caused the Dominion vessel to go dormant, your report is vague on this as well."
His gaze locked with his trainee, knowing that he had not yet shared his findings with the young woman. He would have to show her the reports he meant after the briefing, and explain to her how he had gotten his hands on the reports, that were certainly classified for anyone below a certain rank or security level; a level that a diplomat did not possess.

[With the CO and Tedak, greeting the Klingon Ambassador]Rin stood slightly behind the two gentlemen as they greeted the Klingon Ambassador. The CO spoke first then Ambassador Tedak. She remained silent until given a chance to speak in the Ambassadors native tongue, the traditional greeting of his people. Rin had not made it known that she spoke Klingon, her records not showing any information in that regard except for a few Earth languages. She simply shook her head as the Klingon Ambassador began to speak. There would be time for questions later, the senior staff was waiting on them in the Observation Lounge. She followed the trio silent once more, letting her senses do the work for her, words were not needed. [Observation Lounge]She sat silent throughout the briefing, allowing, once again her eyes and ears and her mind to do the work which needed to be done. Her job was to observe and learn and she did that, on all levels. Rin gave Tedak a sudden look at his words when he was speaking. This was information she had not been told, but then again, she had not shared everything regarding her own background with him. ~~we will have to talk~~ she spoke in his mind quietly. Her eyes never wavering from the PADD before her, the information she had been recording flowing across the screen. <tag Zhuk, Tedak, Our Klingon Ambassador .. .anyone>

Jeff walked out of the breifing room shaking his head. Another science mision without a science officer. His impressions of the new CO hadn't been to positive so far- demoting Matt by a full step in rank for what was normally punished by a harsh reprimand and perhaps suspension from duties for a while.... He shook his head. Obviously the Marines did things differently then most starfleet officers. His annoyance must have been pretty obvious: Gerry mrak, ususally quite tolerant of mood swings like that, had noticed. "Is something wrong Commander?"
"No, nothing at all. just that Starfleet brass has seen fit to send us into an area that upon last visit, housed a Jem' Hadar ship whose crew thought we were still at war, and we're supposed to investigate." he paused. "Without a science officer."
"Weeeeeel......." Mrak drew the word out. "Perhaps you could find use in some sort of distraction. A holodeck program, Perhaps?"
"Off the record, something else bothers me."
"off the record, I could tell. What is it?"
"In my office." the walked to the office, and Jeff typed in the code to open it. as the doors slid opened, Jeff began. "It's not just that the Cornel is a strict diciplinarian and I don't think that he fits well, and that's only really minor. But something is making me uncomftorble aobut this entire mission. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I have a hunch that something is going to go wrong. And while I don't think our new CO can't handle it, I don't know him, and he's only recently been promoted to CO.... I just don't know. I would feel much better with Loskene aboard."
"You're not the only one, if that makes you feel any better. I don't have that same hunch, but yours.... well, the one's you've related to me have to do with engineering stuff, but they tend to be right."
"I appreciate the vote of confidence."
"You're welcome. Now, I have a defensive phaser that I've been working on- in fact, It was used with that specal ops guy I found last mission. But it's far from complete, and I'd appreciate it if you'd help me out."
"Are you trying to get my mind off of this?"
"yes."
"It's working. Thanks."
Soon Jeff was so engorsed in the design that he forgot all of his worrys about the mission....

Cmdr Matthew: Sitting in his chair looking down at his padd as he read over Col. Hrisvalar report on the Dormant Dominion ship he found, thinking to him self this doesn’t look good anytime you have this much Diplomatic interest in a mission sound like someone hear trying to cover there butt,
Cmdr Matthew : stud up Col. Hrisvalar Why would Starfleet command leave a Dormant Dominion warship with its crew behind in a Nebula so close to Federation Space ,even if the crew was in stasis
,I mean a fully Operational Dominion combat ready ship that sound like A Nightmare waiting to Happen that crew could wake up at anytime and wake havoc on our civilian shipping lanes before any one could stop them what was Starfleet command thinking Back then .
Then cmdr matthew Sit Back down in his chair waiting to hear Col.Hrisvalar reply.

Matt remembered what had happened the last time that he had accompanied Billi to a function on the ship, but hopefully Tedak would realize that nothing was ever going to happen between them. They had both moved on to bigger and better things.
"Hey Billi, if something does happen make sure to hit me on the other cheek," Matt said smiling at Billi hoping that she would find it amusing.
Billi shook her head and laughed lightly. “And have me demoted instead of you? I don’t think I can go any lower.”
"Yes you could, they could make you a cadet again," Matt said laughing," and hey I don't think I would mind having two pips on my neck."
She shook her head and leaned back in the chair while they waited. “You really want me to be sent back to the Academy don’t you?” The next time the guys decided to fight she was heading in the opposite direction. But she hoped there would not be a next time.
"Nah, I already broke you in, I don't want to break in another doctor," Matt said hoping she would take the bait, but before she could say anything the doors swooshed open and in walked the remaining senior staff. First to enter was the first person he had met on the Jefferson, Alexander Johnson and then a steady flow of the others. The last to arrive were the Captain and the three ambassadors.
"Okay everyone is here so I would like to get this started," Col. Hrisvalar said as he started the introduction phase of the meeting. After this was complete, the briefing got under way and Matt couldn't be happier. It was going to be a scientific mission and things could hopefully go easy this time around. Everything was going well until Tedak shared information that no one knew.
"A Vorta! The Federation has a Vorta in their possession? “Matt asked totally surprised.
<Tag everyone>
Billi listened silently. She only cared that her sickbay remained empty this trip, it had been WAY too full the last mission. Let the officers who needed to worry about this one. She also knew enough to know that this information was not what had been expected. She took notes and listened as the officers discussed the information before them.
As things became livelier in the meeting, Matt just kept quieter. His mind was racing with the possibilities. How did Tedak know this classified information? Why did the Federation have a Vorta in their possession, which clearly violated Federation prisoner laws? Things were getting a lot more complicated a lot quicker than he wanted.
"Billi what do you think?" Matt asked hoping to get her opinion.
Billi wasn’t sure what to think or say. It went against everything the Federation stood for, at least to her. “I’m not too sure Matt. I think we should wait and hear more before we make any snap judgments.” Her mind already running in a dozen directions with questions which would have to wait to be answered
"Okay, until we know more I think it would be best to keep our opinions to ourselves," Matt said glad that Billi had a cooler head than him. Everything calmed down a bit and Col. Hrisvalar began to speak.

The meeting all of a sudden took a turn for the worse as everyone was having anxiety over Starfleet possibly holding a Vorta prisoner. Zhukarak, of course, knew that this wasn't true. Everyone had simply jumped to conclusions when Ambassador Tedak simply asked about what had happened to the Vorta that was rescued.
Zhuk held up his hand to get everyone's attention. When the room finally quieted down a bit, he went ahead to clarify what had not been said.
"The nebula had entered S47 space approximately 6 weeks ago. During my ACTC mission, I was sent with the USS Hope to investigate. Upon investigation a Dominion ship, a Jem-Hadar attack ship to be more precise, was found to have been dormant within this nebula. Upon further investigation it was discovered that it's full complement of crew were still alive, but in stasis. Due to the complexity of the nebula, we had to send in a shuttle for better scans. We were able to isolate the bio signs of the Vorta that was on board and had decided to beam him over."
Zhuk took a moment to let this information sink in before continuing.
"After much deliberation, we went ahead and revived him. His name was Gelvan. He and his crew made an escape run, during a fight, into this particular nebula."
"Like the cowards they are!" shouted out Ambassador Kralok.
Zhuk continued. "All he remembers from there is how their systems started shutting down systematically, including life-support. The crew had become unconscious, but somehow remained in some sort of stasis with minimal life-support still active."
Zhuk took another breath while he walked on over to the view port to look at the stars for a few seconds.
"It took a few hours of convincing, and showing Gelvan our history data banks, until he finally believed us that the war was over. His ship was pulled out with a tractor beam, after which he returned to his crew. They did not allow us to inspect their vessel or themselves for any anomalies. They were allowed to return to Dominion space. So, as you can see, Starfleet is not holding anyone prisoner, nor their ship. We only have this nebula to rely on about what may have happened to them and that is why we are being sent out to investigate before it leaves our system."
Finally everyone had a look of satisfaction and understanding on their faces.
"Now, I think we have wasted enough time as this nebula is not waiting on us. Everyone to their stations. Mr. Johnson, please have us cleared for departure and get us underway as soon as possible."

Tedak raised his hand, signalling that he had one more question. "Colonel, before we conclude this meeting I have one more question, if I may," he spoke up, "you said the Vorta was allowed to return to Dominion space. How can you be sure that what he told his superiors about his belated return is the truth? For all we know, he tells his superiors that he was held captive all this time."
"We have no way of knowing what the Vorta will pass on about his absence. As far as I know, the Federation Diplomatic Corps is handeling that on their end."
~after the meeting~
Tedak beckoned Rin to follow him. "I can tell you have many questions," he told her, "and I thank you for not getting the answers straight from my mind. Now, walk with me and I shall answer every question you may have."
<Rin>
~even later, after leaving Assaillant's dock~
The Romulan diplomat entered sickbay, a little hesitantly as he knew Billi would be on duty. He saw her tending to a few supplies and walked up to her, kissing her softly in her neck. There were no nurses about so he felt confident in his action; had there been nurses about he would've approached her differently. "Lunch later on?" he whispered in her ear, "when you're due a lunch break that is."
<Billi>
After getting his answer from Billi, he smiled at her and give her another kiss, then turned and left sickbay. His place now was on the bridge, and he knew Rin would eventually meet him there as well. She was entitled to her own private time and he planned on giving her that. "Bridge," he spoke as he entered the turbolift. Seconds later, the car delivered him to his desired destination and he stepped off. Looking around, his gaze locked with that of Commander Reynolds, and the Romulan made a bee-line towards him. "Could I have a word with you commander?" he asked quietly, only for him to hear, "I believe I owe you an apology for my conduct several days ago."
<Reynolds>
The Romulan nodded quietly as he listened to Reynolds' response. "Please excuse me," he then responded and turned to find the first officer. "Commander, I see the tactical station is vacant. With your permission, I am able to take that station if the situation warrants it. I was tactically trained during my military service for the Romulan Empire."

{This is a combined Billi/Rin post}
[After the meeting]
"I can tell you have many questions, and I thank you for not getting the answers straight from my mind. Now, walk with me and I shall answer every question you may have."
Rin nodded and spoke quietly “Yes Sir.“ and moved to walk beside the Ambassador. “I’m not in the practice of reading others minds, especially if they don’t want me to.” She sure did have many questions, the one that had been the information he had shared during the meeting.
Rin stopped walking and turned towards the Ambassador. “Where did you get that information from? If you don’t mind sharing that is.”
<tag Tedak> ----------------------- [After departure/Sickbay]
Billi was busy running through the supply lists and hadn’t noticed Tedaks entry until he had kissed her neck.
"Lunch later on? When you're due a lunch break that is."
She smiled and gave him a small kiss. “Of course. I’ll meet you in the lounge at 1230.” She liked having him on board with her, and was glad the CO had granted their request and needed both he and Rin on this trip. It would give the four time to bond, and hopefully make up for past differences. After she replied he gave her a quick kiss and departed sickbay. Billi turned back to the list and the pile of supplies which had yet to be placed into storage. It was going to be a long time till lunch.

OOC: Okay the first part concerns other people on the ship, the second part is a JP between Rin and myself. Also this a large, huge post.
Scene: Conference Room, Deck 1, USS JEFFERSON
Matt felt completely stupid as Col. Hrisvalar explained what had happened to the Vorta and his Dominion ship. He was glad to know that the Col. had released them and sent them on their way. When Matt saw the report he was surprised to read that his old Academy instructor, Joan McCormick had been the Colonel's first officer during the mission.
As he finished giving his explanation, Matt felt himself relax and become more comfortable with the mission. He loved scientific missions and hopefully he would be able to be more active on this mission.
"Now, I think we have wasted enough time as this nebula is not waiting on us. Everyone to their stations. Mr. Johnson, please have us cleared for departure and get us underway as soon as possible."
Everyone got up and quickly left the room, Matt waited until everyone left to talk to Col. Hrisvalar.
"Col. I would like to apologize for overreacting to what Tedak said, I shouldn't jump to conclusions," Matt said as he spoke to the Andorian CO.
"Apology not necessary. It was Ambassador Tedak's interpretation of the events that led you to assume what you did. Besides, I probably should have expounded a little more at the start of the briefing."
After the conversation with Zhuk, Matt made his way back to his station and quickly began to work. There was much that he needed to do which began with realigning most of the Jefferson's arrays and sensors so that they could be at peak efficiency when they reached the cloud. It really wasn't that hard, since he had previously done this when they had studied the Jefferson Qualinost Cloud a couple months ago.
Matt was surprised when his work was surprised by Tedak. Matt stood and followed him to a part of the bridge that no one but he could hear.
"Could I have a word with you commander?" he asked quietly, only for him to hear, "I believe I owe you an apology for my conduct several days ago."
"Tedak that was long forgotten, I know that you didn't really mean it, just like I didn't mean to hit Billi," Matt said," but you know if we are going to fight you could of waited until I was no longer using the cane."
<Tag Tedak>
----------------------------- Scene: Outside Rin's quarters, Deck 6, USS JEFFERSON
Matt was glad that the personal problems with Tedak were now over and he was even happier that he had finished with all of his work two hours before his shift began.
With all of his work done, Matt decided that he would take the rest of the day off. He knew that Caleb was still in class and he would be there to pick him up and four hours, but for the time being he didn't have anywhere to be. So he checked the computer and was pleased to find that Rin was currently in her quarters alone. It seemed that she was working on what Tedak had given her.
So without hoping to make her mad, he headed to her quarters and waited for her to respond.
Rin was sitting at the desk, several PADDS littering the desk before her. "Come." she turned towards the door and smiled seeing Matt. "Come in." she motioned to him to sit down as she stood up.
"I was right, Tedak is keeping you busy ain't he," Matt said as he lightly kissed Rin on the cheek.
Rin smiled and returned the kiss. "Yes he is. Not that I blame him but it's what I do." She moved to join him on the couch. "How's it going on the bridge?"
"Well things are going pretty good, Alex has us on our way towards this cloud, Tedak has also offered his services at tactical and I was just informed that our science officer was called back home for some important reason," Matt said glad that he could talk to someone about his day," oh and I apologized to the Captain for over reacting to Tedak's information."
Rin shook her head. "He seems to be full of surprises isn't he." She settled back on the couch and smiled at his last bit of news. "I'm glad."
"Well what have you done today except work on these things?" Matt asked as he picked up the PADD that Rin had been working on a minute ago.
Rin smiled. "Not much really. Worked on this stuff for the Ambassador." She took the PADD away from Matt. "It's boring stuff." She grinned as she place it on the table before her. "I want to spend time with you, not that right now."
"Well that’s why I'm here isn't it," Matt said as he popped up his feet and put them on her table. Matt knew what she had just been reading was not boring stuff, but Matt didn't disagree. He wanted to spend time with her too.
Rin laughed and settled next to him, her head against his shoulder. "You're off duty now right?" She grew silent for a second or two. "How about something to eat?"
"Um...sort of," Matt said laughing a bit," yes I could eat something, maybe a turkey sandwich is mayo."
Rin kissed his cheek before standing.” What is your favorite drink?" She asked as she walked to the replicator and soon a turkey sandwich with mayo lay on the plate in her hand.
"Guess" Matt saying playfully.
Rin laughed and without responding tapped the keypad of the replicator. She reached for a small glass on the pad and turned. "This." she walked over and handed him a glass of cranberry juice.
Matt was surprised when Rin had brought him a glass full of cranberry juice. Then it hit him, she had cheated.
"You looked didn't you?" Matt said as he took a bite of his sandwich.
She laughed and nodded. "Yes I did." She sat down on the edge of the couch. "You knew I would didn't you." There were not many people she would do that with and for some reason she was comfortable with him.
"Yeah, but you could of faked it," Matt said not feeling violated at all. He really didn't like telepaths looking into his mind, but he didn't mind that Rin had done it at all. It just felt so natural for them to do it. "Could I read yours to find out what you want?"
"If you want." she had felt his touch before and it didn't bother her. "You are always welcome." She leaned down and kissed his cheek.
Matt welcomed the kiss and made sure to have short contact with her skin. Hopefully that will let him get a stronger mental bond with her. Matt looked into her eyes and searched her mine. He quickly found what he thought and made his way to the replicator. Matt came back with a All the works Sundae and a glass of orange juice.
"Did I get it right?" Matt asked smiling.
Rin smiled as she took the sundae and the juice. "Yes you did." She took a bite of the sundae. "Tastes perfect too." It was nice having this connection with him, something they had formed not too long ago in the brig of all places.
"Great, though you do know that sundaes aren't real food," Matt said as he sat down and began to eat his sandwich again. One thing that Matt hated was eating in front of people since he was a very messy one and this was no exception. A large glob of mayo and lettuce fell on his chin and down his uniform.
Rin laughed. "It's real to me." she reached over and with her napkin picked up the lettuce and wiped off the mayo. "Maybe you need a bib." she teased. She stood up. "Maybe sitting at the table would be a better choice?"
"Thanks," Matt said as he stood and headed towards the table," and I don't need a bib, just a big napkin."
Rin followed and placed her sundae and juice on the table. "No .. you need a bib." she teased as she turned away and pulled a large napkin out of a drawer nearby. "Here, this should help." She sat down opposite him after tucking it in his shirt.
Matt couldn't believe that at 21 years of age he was put in a bib. He wasn't about to argue with Rin, cause he knew that he would get back at her some way. Matt laughed and took off the bib and made his way to the replicator. He of course didn't let Rin see what he was doing until he was done.
"Rin, Happy Belated Birthday," Matt said as he showed her the cake.
Rin's cheeks flushed as she took the cake which she placed before them on the table. "Here I thought I would get by without anyone knowing." She smiled slightly though. "Thank you Matt."
"Of course it wouldn't go unnoticed, especially by me," Matt said as took a piece of cake and flicked it at Rin. "See now you need a bib."
Rin ducked "Hey no food throwing in my quarters. I'd hate to have to explain to housekeeping." She grinned as she sat back up though.
"Since do we have housekeeping," Matt said laughing. He had missed, but he would get her before the day ended.
"One of the perks of being an ambassador Matt." She settled back and took a bite of her sundae. "You should try this, it's good."
"Perks, I need to get some of those perks," Matt said as he got closer to Rin and the sundae. Matt was ready if Rin was going to try and get back at him.
"Stick with me and maybe I can help." She leaned over and kissed his cheek. "So what are your plans for this evening?"
"Well I left the bridge running a full systems scan on the ship which will be ready in about four hours and I will spend some time with Caleb, after that I don't know," Matt said as he took the spoon from her and took a scoop of ice cream.
She smiled as he took some of the ice cream. "Why not get your own spoon and we can share." She took the spoon back and took a bite once he was done. "If you want to do something later we can. If not, I understand."
"I don't another spoon," Matt said taking back the spoon playfully and taking a big load of ice cream," plus I...wa...nt....to spend more time with you."
Rin laughed. "We'll share the spoon and the sundae then." she moved her chair to sit next to him. "Is this better?"
"Yes much better," Matt said as he brushed his hands over hers. He then took the spoon and offered her some of the ice cream.
Rin sighed contented and took the ice cream offered. Being with him made her life feel ... complete. She didn't feel like she was lost when he was around. The things she'd been through since her first trip on the Jefferson had started to mold her into a person she wasn't sure she could get used to. Being an ambassador was something she wanted to be but she'd not realized all the work that went into it till now and Matt made that all fade into the shadows for a while.
"So this is why Caleb likes ice cream so much," Matt says as he takes another bite of the diminishing bowl of sugar. Matt felt happy, happier than he had felt in a long time. Things with Rin were perfect, Caleb was healthy and wild as ever, and the Jefferson was not falling apart at the seams.
"I told you it was real food." she grinned as she wiped a dab of ice cream from the side of his mouth. "I want to spend as much time as I can with you." she sighed. "As long as Caleb wants me around that is."
"Oh I know that Caleb likes you, but don't let him trick you into doing things that you don't want to," Matt said smiling," he's very persuasive when he wants things, especially ice cream."
She laughed. "Now I know how to bribe him huh?" She'd spent some time with Caleb and found him an enjoyable little boy.
"You are already felt for his charm didn't you?" Matt asked knowing that now he would be the only voice of reason.
Rin only nodded as she took the spoon from Matt and took another bite.
Matt saw that the sundae was almost finished, so he let Rin eat the rest, since it was her favorite. Matt of course hadn't forgotten about his sandwich and drink and ate away. While he was doing this he couldn't help but stare at Rin.
Rin’s quietly finished her ice cream. She knew he had things that had to be done and wanted to be able to spend time with him later too. Their time was too short it seemed.
Matt quickly finished his food without making much mess of himself. He loved spending time with Rin, but it seemed to pass so quickly. Matt took her hand into his and just sat there for a minute their bond growing stronger every day they were together.
Rin held his hand in hers, their eyes meeting. Words could not express what she felt. ~~I miss you when we're apart~~ she thought to him, their non-verbal words seeming almost more natural than their verbal ones.
~Rin we are never apart, I know you have felt it, cause I have~ Matt thought referring to the presence that had now become a part of him. He could feel Rin's mind in his everywhere on the ship and he knew that with this they would never be apart on the Jefferson.
She knew what he spoke of, the link which had started not too long ago had grown, she could feel him as well.
For the first time, Matt looked at chronometer and was surprised at the time. He had been there with Rin for the last three and a half hours.
"Rin I have to go pick up Caleb," Matt said not wanting to really leave.
"So I got to go," Matt said as he got a lot closer to Rin.
Rin frowned. "Meet you later?" She stood up and kissed his cheek. "Give Caleb a hug from me will you."
"I will," Matt said kissing her quickly on the lips before he left her in her quarters.
Rin watched as Matt left, once the door closed she turned and went back to work on the information Tedak had her reading. The cake would wait till later.
