Majeski stood on the bridge when a Civillian Came up to him on the bridge and he blinked in surprise to see a civillian on the bridge the Majeski spoke "Umm..." he started but the Civillian Politley cut him off
"Captain! Mathew J Black reporting for duty as requested. Im assuming I have missed Gus?" The Civilian saod
Majeski stared at him for a second then Blinked " Yes you did actually"
"Ah well I am your new Laision officer" He said
"Well find a seat Mr Black Where headed to Starbase 172 "
"Sir " the ops officer said "You have a message from Admrial Megellan"
Majeski blinked in suprise "I'll take it in the Ready room"
THe ops officer nodded and Majeski walked off the bridge and headed to the ready room and sat down and touched the screen to activate it.
THe trill Admrial 's face appeared on the screen "Commander Majeski guess you won't be returning to the Starbase"
"Huh" The Elf blinked at the Admrial
"We have a small problem ....An Admrial Disapeared in the baku sector your the closest ones right now I'm afraid your to investigate his disapearance if possble Find him and Return him to starbase 172" Megellan said
Majeski took in a lungful and sighed "How long ago since he disapeared?"
"Three days"
That hit Majeski like a ton of bricks there was no way he could still be alive "We'll do what we can Admrial"
"God speed Raven Megellen out"
Majeski stood up and looked out the window it was his first time in command of a ship in a sense this wasn't some stupid Hijacking of a starship to fight to save a starvase like he did before it was a deep space mission out on his own No CO To fall back on .. thats because he was the CO
Walking out he stood on the Bridge and looked at Zorial
"Lt Zorial set a course for the Briar patch Maximum warp"
"Aye Sir"
He looked at Commander Dixion the acting FO "Mr Dixion have the senior staff in the meeting room in 10 min please and no lates"
"Yes sir"

Alex was sitting in the First Officers chair quietly. He hadn't been able to track down Dan Trek quickly enough to say goodbye. He and a couple of the other engineers had been making a whirlwind tour of the ship, and Trek had managed to get off the Raven before Alex could track him down. Alex shrugged mentally. Trek had seemed very happy about his new position, so Alex was the same.
On the bridge, there was an incoming message from Admiral Magellan for Commander Majeski , and he stood up and walked into the Captain Weills'...oops, Alex thought to himself. The Captain's Ready Room. There was some quiet conversation and Alex looked around the bridge. The Liason Officer, Matthew Black, had commandeered a chair and was engaged in some quiet conversation with the duty technician. Sounded like they were just getting to know each other when Majeski stomped back out of the Ready Room, walked over to the Nav Console and ordered a course change to the Briar Patch, then turned to Alex and said "Mr Dixon have the senior staff in the meeting room in 10 min please and no lates."
"Yes Sir" Alex replied to Majeski's back as he went back into the Ready Room. Alex tapped on the comm and said "All senior officers report to the conference room in 10 minutes for mission briefing." On the big screen, the stars changed from points of light to long, multicoloured strands as Lt. Zoarial got the Raven moving to its' new destination. Alex was a little concerned. He had read about the Enterprise E's mission to the area. She had been kicked around fairly badly, and the Raven didn't have a tenth of the power of a Sovreign class vessel. He decided to go have a quick chat with Commander Majeski and walked into the Ready Room after hearing Majeski's "Enter!"
Majeski was sitting behind the desk. looking at his console. On it, there was a graphic of the Briar Patch showing its complicated stellar drift patterns. Majeski looked up and said "What is it Commander?"
"Just wondering what our new mission is" Alex stated.
"An Admiral got lost in the Briar Patch 3 days ago, and we're going to try to track him down." Majeski said wearily.
"Three days!" Alex exclaimed. "What have they been waiting for?"
"I'll tell you at the briefing, Commander. Make sure that you invite Mr. Black. He might be useful in liasing with Starbase 172" Majeski ordered. Alex nodded, pivoted on his heel and marched out of the Ready Room and back to the bridge.
He walked over to the chair that Black had sat down in and said "Excuse me, but the captain has asked that you attend the mission briefing. I was just going to head to the conference room right now. Would you care to join me?"

Nephi Jacobson sat in a bar on Starbase Assailant, drinking a lemonade. The low light glinted off his black hair, but certainly didnt on his tanned skin. The recently new Lt JG's pips sat on his collar.
"Nephi!"
Nephi turned. Coming quickly towards him was Brent Summers, a pilot stationed on the Starbase. They had met while Nephi was waiting for the Raven.
Nephi: Hey Brent, what is it?
Brent: The Raven's not coming to Assailant. They've been diverted to a rescue mission. I'm taking you to the Raven by shuttle.
Nephi: Lets go then.
Summers: I would have thought they would have come for their Chief Engineer.
Nephi: Well I am still a Junior Officer, by rank.
They got up and headed quickly for a shuttle bay. His height of 5'6" was unimpressive, but he was heavily-built, and was able to hold his own when necessary. They entered and Brent headed for a shuttle. Nephi went in after him.
Nephi: A Type 9 shuttle. Nice. We're certainly be ready if we run into trouble.
Brent: I hope you weren't expecting any.
Nephi: No, of course not.
They lifted off, and headed for the Raven as fast as they could go.
-------------------------------------An hour later------------------------------
Summers: There she is.
Nephi looked up. Coming up fast was the USS Raven, Intrepid-Class.
Summers: =/\= This is Shuttlecraft Delaware, carrying Lt Jacobson. Requested permission to come aboard =/\=

Zoarial was about to wander off on the starbase when he was called to report back to the USS Raven. "So soon?" Zoarial muttered to himself and he prepared to head back to the ship. Little preparation was needed though as Zoarial hadn't even had the time to leave the ship, let alone unpack his bags.
Some quick repairs seemed to have taken place between the two missions. The Raven had a magnificant glow as it was hovering in space, and the lieutenant sped towards his post. Zoarial walked to the now oh so familiar bridge, even after his short time at the Raven he was able to walk the path with his eyes closed, something he didn't dare doing in actual life, you just never know what would happen.
The bridge doors were barely closed behind Zoarial and allready the first order came.
Majeski: Lt Zorial set a course for the Briar patch Maximum warp.
Zoarial: Aye sir!
*Zorial?* Zoarial thought to himself, but he didn't dare to interfere with the acting CO.
As if automatically Zoarial guided the Raven away from the starbase's peremiters. He was barely out of the imaginary lines when the Raven seemed to glide into warpspeed. The stars were formed from dots into straight lines, and though Zoarial perfectely knew he was rapidly increasing speed, it seemed like there was just an image played on some kind of screen just outside the windows. It was hard working on the starfleet, as was shown again when Zoarial's daydreaming was interrupted by a commbadge message.
Dixon: =/\= All senior officers report to the conference room in 10 minutes for mission briefing =/\=
Ten minutes would be just enough to make some standard checkups, though they would surely have been done a dozen times by other officers. The hullstress seemed to be okay, the warpfield was... stable... the warpspeed was climbing up to its maximum, but it would take some time to reach it.
Summers: =/\= This is Shuttlecraft Delaware, carrying Lt Jacobson. Requested permission to come aboard =/\=
Zoarial had an urge to respond to this message but thought better about it and linked it to the CO.
Zoarial: =/\= Commander Majeski, a shuttle carrying our new engineer is asking permission to attach to the USS Raven, I will put him through=/\=
Zoarial felt that he had nicely handled this situation. "A quick run to my quarters first though, really have to change clothes" Zoarial told himself, the mission succesion was quick that he wasn't even able to change his clothes in the mean time.
5 minutes later Zoarial entered the conference room, it wasn't exactly full. Apart from himself, Commander Dixon, the civilian Black and Commander Majeski noone was present yet, but Zoarial knew that everyone would arrive there shortly. This would be Zoarial's first official briefing, he had missed his briefing at the academy, and he had also not been there when the previous mission started off. He took care not to sit down on the most impressive chair since that would be the one of the CO. With a clear view on both the door and the others, Zoarial waited for the briefing to begin.

Majeski sat pateiently waiting in his Chair in the meeting he looked at Dixion who was waiting as well. This was a situation that needed to be delt with immeditely. This Admiral Held the knowledge of starfleets major operations
"Sir, why did they wait so long" Dixion asked
Majeski looked out the window "I'll explain when every one gets here"
Then Mathew Black walked in along with Kari Wells their security officer walked in with Zoarial in tow. This made Majeski wondered where Dan trek was. *oh yeah he thought he left damn!"
Zoarial approached Majeski Zoarial " Commander Majeski, a shuttle carrying our new engineer is asking permission to attach to the USS Rave"
Majeski hit the comm panel that was on the table "Shuttle Aduril "
"Adruil here we have your Cheif engineer here"
"Have him come aboard immeaditely and report to the meeting room please" Majeski said
"Understood sir"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
It took a full 20 min before every one was present and 10 minutes later than Majeski wanted to have the meeting, he hid his irritation well. and stood up and spoke "Well as you al know we are headed to the briar Patch, what we are going for is simple or at least I am hoping simple," he hit a button on his desk and a picture of an Admiral displayed on the screen. "Admrial Janice Walston disapeared when her yaht entered the briar patch where the USS Tobias was waiting to recive her, After her second day of her disapearance and searching the area for her they reported the incident"
Dixion looked apalled "They took that long to report it?"
Majeski nodded "Acording to Admrial Megellan yes, I'm more or less finding the whole situation unerving and extreamly disturbing."
He looked at thier new engineer Nempi Jacobson "Now most Starships aren't made to go past 1/4 impulse power in the briar patch but we are not just any starship we are designed to run through the badlands , so is there any way to fix the problem?"
<Nemphi>
Then Majeski looked at Black "I want you to work with the crew of the Tobias I want to know why they took so long in reporting this" "Is there any questions? and Ideas cause i'm willing to hear them"

Then Majeski looked at Black...
"I want you to work with the crew of the Tobias I want to know why they took so long in reporting this"
Mathew didnt say anything, he just listened and acknowledge Majeski's request.
"Is there any questions? and Ideas cause I'm willing to hear them"
The room was very silent no-one had another to say, to be honest most werent even sure what to think.
Mathew walked over to the main display unit, and starting typing in a few commands.
Majeski could see what Black was about to do, and was thinking of a distraction, what he thought Black was doing was highly classified... and no-one should ever know the truth.....
... Thankfully Matt only brought up information that they already knew, and just stood staring at it.

Mr. Black looked over at Alex and said "Commander Dixon, perhaps you would be able to explain this."
Alex nodded, stood up and walked over to the view screen. "This is a schematic of the internal currents of the Briar Patch. Most of it is based on a survey mission conducted by the USS Discover about 5 years ago. As you can see, the entire area is a violent stellar nursery, with dozens of stars in the earliest phases of formation, and several that have ignited in the last couple of millenia."
Alex paused and entered more information. A red line appeared on the display. "This is the listed flight path of the Admiral's yacht. It seemed that they were going to avoid the most active areas, but if the ship broke down, it will start moving by itself due to gravity and the strong solar wind in the Patch. After 3 days, it could be pretty much anywhere."
Alex paused again and thought for a second. "Computer, calculate possible drift for a Federation yacht along the entirety of the planned course and display." There was a delay of several seconds as the computer thought, then superimposed a massive area onto the view, representing the maximum distance the yacht could have moved in three days where ever it had broken down. A quiet sigh passed through the conference room as they saw the amount of space the Raven would have to cover to find the ship.
Alex looked over at the Raven's navigational officer. "Lt. Zoarial, can you come up with the most efficient way to search this area, keeping in mind that the Briar Patch will limit the range of our sensors?"
Zoarial looked at the data and nodded. "Yes, sir. But I will have to do that from the navigational console."
Majeski looked up. "All right, lieutenant. Proceed." The Klingon stood and walked out of the conference room.
The Captain looked around the room again. "Any other ideas?"

"SO it was three days after she WENT missing that she actually was reported missing, that's an awfull long time" Zoarial muttered as he walked back to the bridge. He thought to himself why this could've taken so long, but it was without his reach and responsibilities to find out why.
When Zoarial arrived at the bridge it seemed as though the situation was very relaxed, it would take some time to reach the briar patch.
Zoarial: Computer, please give me estimated time of arrival?
Computer: Calculating... No information available at this moment, please request at a later time.
"Great" Zoarial said. He sat down and overviewed the systems. He had recieved no commands from the acting CO so Zoarial thought he would have to continue at the same course.
While sitting about and thinking about what this mission would bring, one of Majeski's remarks lingered inside Zoarials head:
Majeski: Most Starships aren't made to go past 1/4 impulse power in the briar patch but we are not just any starship we are designed to run through the badlands.
Zoarial knew there would be a lot of work to do, even though the computer would take a lot of the stress away from the CNO. He took some precautions and linked up with the CEO.
Zoarial: =/\=Lt Zoarial to Lt JG Jacobson, I have some questions regarding the speed and manouevrability of the Raven once we have arrived at the briar patch. Could you share some information with me in person or do you prefer communication through commbadge? =/\=
<<nephi>>
With his bad memory Zoarial had almost forgotten why he was on the bridge in the first place. He retrieved up a padd from the side of his seat and started to think out a plan to efficiently scan the Briar Patch. Zoarial remembered the plan he had put into action on his first mission, a spiral from the starbase outwards. But since there were lots of objects in this patch it would be almost impossible to go through this plan again. The sensors wouldn't be of much use either, but they were of vital essence to cover an as large as possible area at the same time.
Zoarial: Computer reproduce the image of the possible drift for a Federation yacht along the entirety of the planned course
Since this was still in the computers memory it immideately popped onto Zoarial's viewscreen. Zoarial started to work out a patern, still keeping in mind the spiral idea since he had no clue what other route would be more efficient. After some minutes he still hadn't found the best possible route, and he hit his forehead. Offcourse, we live in a technological highly advanced age!
Zoarial: Computer plot a spiral course from the spot where the yacht began to drift. Interval between two circles double of the scannerrange, which is Zoarial took a quick glance at his padd 0,7 parasec. Save outcome and display on my viewscreen.
And now, he had to wait for the image, which he didn't believe to come very soon.

"Now most Starships aren't made to go past 1/4 impulse power in the briar patch but we are not just any starship we are designed to run through the badlands , so is there any way to fix the problem?" Nephi: Unfortunately the two are incompatible. The Intrepid-class is able to operate better in the Badlands due to increased manueverable and better sensors. The Briar Patch on the other hand is a very different story. The conflict between the Son'a and the Enterprise-D in the Briar Patch occurred when I was still a student, and we discussed the problem in-depth. Its a scientist's playground and an engineer's nightmare. You see, the main problem with the Badlands is the Plasma storms. But the challenges of the Briar Patch are much worse. It contains remnants of supernovae, false vacuum fluctuations and metaphasic radiation. Nephi: Most starships can only travel at 1/4 impulse because otherwise the impulse manifolds overheat. However, because our impulse manifolds are on the nacelle pylons, they have built-in tolerances to allow for the fact that they move. But even with that, the best I can give you is 1/3 Impulse.

Alex and Majeski shared a look. 1/3 was better than 1/4. "Thank you, Lieutenant. And by the way, it's nice to have you aboard. Sorry that we couldn't have waited for you at Assailant" Dixon said. "Perhaps while the Raven is in the Briar Patch, you could look for ways to improve our speed." Nephi nodded doubtfully. Alex looked out over the rest of the senior staff and asked "Is there anything anyone would like to add?" There was silence. "I would also like to say that it is possible that there is some foul play involved. The Briar Patch is a treacherous place, and as such would be a good one for outlaw groups to conceal themselves. Keep you options open." The senior staff nodded calmly and Majeski stood up.
"Dismissed" the captain said. The rest of the staff started making their way to the door, but Alex and Majeski stayed behind. "Commander, what do you think the chances are that we're going to find the Admiral?"
Dixon turned troubled eyes to Commander Majeski. "One in three" he said.
"You're more optimistic than I am" the captain replied. "Let's go" he ordered, and the two of them left the conference room and stepped onto the bridge.

Commander Majeski looked at the view screen and looked at Dixion they where going to arrive at the Briar patch within 10 mins and they still haven't heard from the Tobias.
"Something isn't right Alex" Majeski said
Being called by his first name startled him for a second then turned it aside " Your right they where supposed to Hail us over 2 hours ago"
Majeski stood up and look at the view screen and didn't turn to look at anyone "Go to yellow alert when we drop out of warp Mrs Wells"
Thier Security merely said "Yes sir"
"Mr Zoarial prepare for 1/2 implulse power" Dixion ordered
"aye" The Klingon Rumbled
"Bridge to engineering" Majeski said
"Bridge here" Nempi called
"Can you ready the bussard collectors for gathering metaphasic radiation just in case?" Majeski said
"Sir???? You can't be serious" Jacobson cried in alarm
"Never been more serious in my life , but i won't resort to that unless we have to" Majeski said sternly
"Yes sir" Nemphi hoped to god that they won't need to even use it
Dixion nodded "the riker manouver , intresting"
Zorial's call brought the tension back to the bridge "Dropping out of warp"
Majeski slowly sat down in his chair and look ahead pale "Steady as she goes Mr Zorial, take us in"

After some minutes of waiting a drawing appeared on Zoarial's PADD, as he was minding his bussiness he didn't have a clue what that picture was about, it looked like some hypnosis device thingy or whatever. He clicked the image away and turned back to his console. They were approaching the Briar Patch, it wouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to reach it. As if reading Zoarial's thoughts the XO suddenly barked an order.
Dixon: Mr Zoarial prepare for 1/2 implulse power
A bit bothered that it would take an hour or so to reach the patch when slowing down, Zoarial nodded.
Zoarial: Yes Sir!
Zoarial directed the schip to slow down, and initiated the process with his console. The PADD-picture got stuffed away in the back of his memory as he carefully checked the warpfactorindicator to report the moment the raven exited warpspeed. Like every time it seemed like hours to pass by before they went back to impulse speed, but the moment the raven did, Zoarial immideately notified the bridge.
Zoarial: We are dropping out of warp NOW!
Majeski: Steady as she goes Mr Zoarial, take us in.
Zoarial went full impulse for some time, but while still away from the patch far enough he slowed down to .5 impulse speed. They seemed the crawl towards the patch and as they were about to enter, Zoarial got an alarming call from the engineering room.

((OFF: Captain, one little note here. Kindly remember that my name is Nephi, not Nempi or Nemphi. Thank you.))
Nephi headed down to Engineering. This would be interesting, as Dan had warned him that his Asst CEO was higher-ranked than he was.
He walked into Engineering. A Bolian Male and Trill female came up to greet him. Both wore the rank of Lt. This would be interesting.
Bolian: You are Lt Jacobson, I presume?
Nephi: Indeed I am. But call me Nephi.
Bolian: Nephi it is. I am Lt Joktel, your Asst CEO, and this is Lt Paria, Engineering Second Officer and Computer Systems Specialist.
Paria: A pleasure to meet you, Lt.
Nephi: Likewise, likewise. I look forward to working with you. Although Commander Trek left some large boots to fill.
Paria: In more ways than one. You are significantly smaller in size than he is.
Nephi: Yes I know. He was very intimidating, particularly to a young Acting Ensign.
Joktel: Intimidating, but gentle. So, whats the word from higher up?
Nephi: We're going into the Briar Patch, looking for a lost Admiral
Joktel: Oh, wonderful. ::feigning excitement:: Being limited to 1/3 Impulse is no fun.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Paria: Nephi, we're entering the Briar Patch, but we're still at 1/2 Impulse!
Nephi: =/\= Jacobson to Helm. Reduce speed to 1/3 Impulse immediately! Entering the Briar Patch at our current speed will prove fatal =/\=

Alex was sitting in the First Officers chair beside Commander Majeski as the Raven approached the Briar Patch. The bridge was quiet until a hurried message came up from Engineering. "Jacobson to Helm. Reduce speed to 1/3 Impulse immediately! Entering the Briar Patch at our current speed will prove fatal!"
Lt. Zoarial quickly lowered the speed of the Raven as the ship cautiously approached the the outer limits of the mysterious area. The Chief Navigational Officer looked down at his instruments and said "We're in."
The ship shuddered slightly as it made contact with the energetic gravity waves that the Patch emitted, while the main viewscreen showed little but an orange haze from the high concentration of dust particles in this section of the nebula. Abruptly, it cleared, and the bridge crew could see a fair distance. Alex looked over at Lt. Collaan and said "What's on the sensors?"
The Bajoran woman looked down and replied "Unusually high concentrations of dust, actinides, thoron radiation and hydrogen. No evidence that a ship might have passed this way in the last while."
"Thank you Lieutenant. Keep scanning." Alex turned back to the screen. The view had again changed, and was now bluish, with a red tinge of excited hydrogen atoms. "Lt. Zoarial, is your search pattern prepared?"
"Yes sir" the Klingon replied.
"Good. Bring the Raven to the beginning of the search grid and initiate" the first officer said.
Without responding, Zoarial changed course and the Raven responded gracefully, heading deeper into the Briar Patch.

Nephi: =/\=Jacobson to Helm. Reduce speed to 1/3 Impulse immediately! Entering the Briar Patch at our current speed will prove fatal!=/\=
Zoarial didn't dare question this order, though Nephi was lower in rank, he obviously knew a lot more about this restriction than Zoarial did, so the klingon Lt didn't mind being ordered by a Lt JG. The CNO immideately slowed down to 1/3 impulse and the Raven now crept towards the patch. Suddenly Zoarial noticed his instruments take a leap and thought it to be the announcement that they were in the briar patch.
Zoarial: We're in.
At first it looked like nothing had changed, but suddenly there was some strange orange colored cloud hanging around the Raven, and after that it was gone as quickly as it had come.
Alex: Lt. Zoarial, is your search pattern prepared?
"Search Pattern?" Zoarial muttered, but he remembered the drawing on his PADD, he recieved not so long ago.
Zoarial: Yes sir
Alex: Good. Bring the Raven to the beginning of the search grid and initiate.
Zoarial quickly retrieved the image on his PADD and entered the coordinates of the beginning of the spiral in the computer. They weren't very nearby since the point was somewhere in another part of the patch, but it wouldn't take that long to reach it. Zoarial thought it would be good to forward the picture to 1st Commander Dixon.
Zoarial Commander Dixon, the computer has drawn up a spiral, starting at the point where the yacht was lost. It was designed in such a way that we avoid colliding with big chunks of debris. The distance between two circles is lost under double the scanner range, sothat we can effectively scan for the ship or whatever's left of it. There is still enough room for the yacht to drift away, but because of our speedlimit this plan can't simply be made more effective. If you have a better suggestion I would be glad to replace my plan for it.
Zoarial reckoned there might be any trace for the direction of the drift, and that way the computer could make a more precise area where the vessel might have drifted to. That would surely eliminate this spiralplan because there would simply be less space where they had to search.
Well, that would be a later concern, for it would take another two hours to reach the place where the yacht had last been spotted. <<There might be some time to catch up on my book again, the Soddit, I haven't read that one in a while>> Zoarial thought, but thought better of it while standing up. There was too much that could go wrong at the moment, it wasn't very smart to unnecesarily leave his post in an area this hostile. Zoarial reseated and monitored his insturments for any oddity.

Alex listened as Zoarial explained the search pattern that he had come up with to search the Briar Patch. He quietly admitted to himself that he had gotten lost with the CNOs explanation got to the point regarding the two circles. However, he had faith in the Klingon lieutenant and the Raven proceeded further into the extremely hostile area.
There were no major incidents as the vessel made it's way through the patch, although the ship's course had to be changed several times to avoid areas that had particularly high radiation counts. After about two hours, the Raven was finally at a point where she could begin conducting a search for the missing Admiral's yacht.
Lieutenant Zoarial looked down at his instruements, turned in his chair and said "We have arrived at the start of the search grid."
Captain Majeski leaned forward. "Excellent lieutenant." Then he looked over at the Science station. "Lt. Collaan, is there anything within range of the sensors?"
The Bajoran female examined her instruments again. "Sensors are down to an effective range of about a half parsec." Collaan spends a few seconds entering commands into her console. "Sir, there is the remains of an ion trail here! Bearing 147.2, along the given flight path of the Admiral's ship."
Dixon turned to look at Collaan as well. "Can you identify whether or not it was the Admiral's ship?"
She shook her head. "Negative, the Patch has swept away the majority of the ions. I can tell that the trail was left by Federation type impulse engines. However..." Collaan concentrated on her board for a few more seconds. "It looks to me that there are actually two ion trails here. One Federation type and the other unknown."
There was a brief moment of silence on the bridge of the Raven.

OFF: Apologises for my absence so soon after joining you. I am on the road to recovery and endevouring to post.

Mathew was very impressed with his new crew, they were handling everything really well.
As the time passed he knew what everyone was thinking even those who were more spirited than the others were starting to lose the prospect of hope.
"Black" Majeski all but shouted.
"Yes... Sir" Black replied
"Have you nothing to add, do you not wish to participate in anyway, or are you cold and withdrawn from this whole mission." Mathew felt the anguish and concern in the captains voice, he waited a few secs, that felt like minutes before he replied.
"I care... I want a happy outcome to this mission. I care alot if people die. But I am also aware that this could be a wild goose chase, it just seems wrong. I cant explain why or how but were doing exactly what someone wants us to do.
Havent you noticed the pattern the routine, everythings happening as it should its textbook and that aint right. But then again, Im only a Liason Officer technically."
Once Mathew had finished his speech, he took a step back turned and exited the bridge, he didnt as permission to leave, but he wasnt gonna be on the bridge until someone wanted him their.

OOC: No problem that you were away. Getting better takes precedence over posting, but we're happy to have you back!

Petty Officer Mele was checking an EPS conduit on Deck 14 at the end of the starboard access crawlway. She was a little irritated that she was even here. She sat back and looked at the right side of the crawlway at the gently curving wall. This was about as close as one could get to being in space on the Raven and still be inside the ship.
Turning back to her work, she examined her tricorder. Maintenance records showed that this section of conduit had been checked over less than two months ago when the Raven went through it's final shakedown overhaul at Starbase Assailant. However, this morning, the conduit had started causing a cascade failure through the rest of the EPS system on Deck 14, and she had been assigned to examine the problem and effect repairs.
She ran her tricorder over the affected conduit. There was a weak gamma weld in the section she was looking at, and that was causing a loss of alignment in the system. Opening her Engineering Kit, she picked up the portable gamma welder and ran it over the weakened area, then picked up the tricorder again. It showed an immediate improvement in power system efficiency.
As Mele was packing up her equipment, she started feeling a little dizzy. She stopped and took a deep breath, and the problem went away. Shaking her head, she closed her kit and was crawling back towards the access hatch when the dizzyness came back, much stronger this time. Mele collapsed to the deck, her breathing laboured and blood dripping from her nose.

Nephi tracked the progress of the repair teams working on the EPS conduits from his CEO's station in Engineering. Jarez was all the way over in Section 1, stabilizing the last of the conduits.
Joktel: Nephi? Mele isnt back yet. She's been working on that for over half an hour. She should have been back by now.
Nephi: =/\= Engineering to Crewman Mele =/\=
There was no response.
Nephi: =/\= Mele respond =/\=
Still nothing.
Nephi: Computer, locate Crewman Mele.
Computer: Crewman Mele is on Deck 14.
Joktel: I'll go.
Nephi: No, I will. I want to see whats happened, and I'm smaller so I'll fit in the tubes better.
Nephi went down to Deck 14 and crawled down the Jeffries Tube. He opened the next hatch. Mele was there, laying on the floor. Her eyes were open, but just barely. He crawled over.
Nephi: Mele, are you alright?
Mele: N..Ne..
Her eyes closed. Her breath was raspy, and there was blood on the decking. Nephi grabbed a tricorder and scanned the area. There wasn't any radiation coming from the conduit.
Nephi: =/\= Jacobson to Sickbay. Crewman Mele is injured in a Jeffries Tube. I'm beaming her directly to Sickbay =/\=
Amhil: =/\= Acknowledged =/\=
Nephi: Computer, site-to-site transport. Beam Mele and I directly to Sickbay.
They materialized in Sickbay. Amhil came over, carrying a medical tricorder.
Amhil: What happened?
Nephi: I'm not sure. I found her lying in the Jeffries tube, barely conscious. She had been working on an EPS conduit. She was having trouble breathing, and her nose was bleeding. She lost consciousness shortly after I arrived.

Alex was still sitting in the First Officers chair as the Raven slipped through the Briar Patch. He was thinking that his old Chief Science officer chair had been more comfortable than this one. Giving his head a little shake to get him back on subject, he checked the status console in the arm of his chair. There had been a small problem with the EPS system on Deck 14, but Lt. Jacobsen seemed to have taken care of it already.
Of slightly more concern was a call in to Sickbay. Alex tapped his comm badge and said "Doctor, I see that there's something going on down there. What's up?"
<Amhil>
"Alright, well keep us informed. Bridge out..." Alex closed the channel and looked over at Majeski, who shrugged and went back to monitoring the remains of the ion trails that they were following.
Alex stood up and walked over to the Science station. Lt. Collaan looked up as the First Officer stood over her. "Are there any changes?" Alex asked.
The Bajoran shook her head. "Nothing yet sir."
Alex nodded and walked back over to his chair, hurrying a little as he got closer. He was suddenly feeling a little dizzy and was happy to get to sit down again.
After he settled back into his chair, the dizzyness passed. Puzzled about the little episode but unconcerned, Alex returned to monitoring the sensors.

Two thoughts struck Zoarial at the same time, the first was that the effective scannerrange was now down to .5 parasec, which made his drawing inaccurate, but there was also the ion trail, which was a big lead, an kind of made the plotted spiral obsolete.
Zoarial: Commander Dixon, am I right to assume that the two trails are from the admiral's yacht and an unidentified vessel?
<<Alex>>
Zoarial didn't want to make any more suggestions since the trail might lead to the ship but could also lead into an ambush or just lead to a dead end.
“Don’t think Zoarial,” he murmured to himself, “let the senior officers do the thinking and just follow their orders at the mean time.”
Zoarial Computer, recalculate the possible drift while including the bearing of the iontrail and send it to my screen
In a couple of seconds the computer drew up a keg shaped field which showed where the yacht might possibly be. The field grew wider at the end and it still covered more than half of the brair patch, but it was far less than the previous guess. Zoarial started to think out a new route to search the patch, but thought that it would be better to get a green light from the FO or CO first. Since Alex seemed to allready be occupied with the chase, Zoarial informed with him.
Zoarial Commander Dixon, am I allowed to follow the trail to see if we can find more clues?
Alex: Positive, it’s the best lead we’ve got.
Zoarial: Aye Sir! Computer, move in the direction of the ion trail and scan for any change of it’s direction, alter course when such a change is detected. Maximum speed 1/3 impulse.
The Raven slowly started to move, making minor adjustments in course every now and then. At the moment the ion trail was very clear. But Zoarial was aware that it might fade soon enough and that he had to come up with a new route. Though he was glad that he didn't have to think hard at the moment, he felt a bit blurry in his head. "Snap out of it" Zoarial told himself as he shook his head. Feeling a bit better he viewed his mainscreen to keep track of the trail.

Amhil sitting in sickbay, deeply engrossed in a book. There wasn't much to do around sickbay and she had found herself with a lot of time to kill. She was at a particularly thrilling part of the book when she was suddenly summoned back to the real world by Nephi's voice.
=/\= Jacobson to Sickbay. Crewman Mele is injured in a Jeffries Tube. I'm beaming her directly to Sickbay =/\=
Amhil quickly got up and acknowledged the message, wondering what had happened while getting ready for her new patient. A few seconds later they materialized in sickbay. Amhil grabbed a medical tricorder and stepped at Crewman Mele, immediately beginning to scan.
"What happened?" Amhil asked, while keeping her eyes on the readout of the scanner. Nephi tried to look over her shoulder when he answered.
"I'm not sure. I found her lying in the Jeffries tube, barely conscious. She had been working on an EPS conduit. She was having trouble breathing, and her nose was bleeding." At this, Amhil frowned. Nephi ignored it and continued. "She lost consciousness shortly after I arrived." "Do you have any idea what could have caused it? Any idea at all?" She looked up for a second to look at him. "Radiation perhaps?"
Nephi shook his head and watched Amhil bustling around sickbay while answering. "I scanned the area, there was no indication of radiation whatsoever."
"How long has she been lying there before you found her?" Amhil asked, wondering how long Mele had been left untreated.
"Well, she had been away for half an hour. So I think at least 20 minutes." Nephi answered. A second after he had finished, Alex's voice came over the comm.
=/\=""Doctor, I see that there's something going on down there. What's up?"=/\=
Stopping with what she had been doing, Amhil tapped her comm. badge. =/\="Crewman Mele has been brought in, sir. She collapsed in the Jeffries tubes a little while ago, we don't know yet what's wrong."=/\=
=/\="Alright, well keep us informed. Bridge out..." =/\= Alex answered, before closing the channel.

"Captain, I've got some unusual readings at 117.58, range 3500 meters" Lt. Collaan said excitedly.
Majeski glanced over at the Science station. "What kind of readings?"
Collaan looked up. "It's a small debris field sir. Readings indicate that it's a collection of duranium, poly duride and some other trace materials." Her console beeped urgently and she glanced down. "Also picking up residual antiproton traces now, sir."
Majeski looked over a Commander Dixon. "Someone has been firing disruptors in the Briar Patch" the captain said, and Alex nodded in response.
"Is there anything else, lieutenant?" the captain asked.
Collaan stared at her data readouts. "Yes sir. Ion totals increasing, and showing a sharp change in directions. It looks like the Admiral's shuttle was trying to maneuver. The ion trail is now on course 568.12."
The captain looked at the CNO. "Mr. Zoarial, please change course to the new heading and get the Raven moving as fast as she will go."

Mat was in his quarters and was analysing several streams of live data that he had being fed into what could only desribed as a technicians nightmare.
He had computers and monitors all over the place, a makeshift Strategic Operations Centre which took up a large portion of his wall.
Black was waiting for the customary visit from the Chief Engineer that he normally got, as they were generally bemused as to why his quarters always seemed to be consuming a larger than normal amount of power, and CPU / Computer Resources.
"Drats"
Mat was getting increasingly more annoyed at his inability to find the yacht, he was not sleeping and was keeping himself awake on caffeine injections something he was sure the Doc would not be too pleased about.
It was now 03.30 and probably time to have an early breakfast Black thought, he exited and locked his quarters a necessary precaution and made his way to the mess hall.
