Alex watched the main screen as it changed into the usual blazing starfield that occurred when the ship was at warp. Everything aboard ship seemed to be proceeding normally.
After a few minutes, Capt. Weill stood and turned to the First Officer. "Mr. Dixon, I'd like to start out this mission on beta watch. Yours, in other words. Please have the correct watch officers report in. I'm going to go to my quarters." Alex nodded and watched as the captain left the bridge, then activated the comm. "Beta watch, report to the bridge."
After about 5 minutes, the changes were done and beta watch were at their positions. Alex realized that Lt. Giga was still on the bridge. The android hadn't said a word since they had entered the room. "Lt. Giga, do you have a preference as to which shift you are assigned to?"
<Giga>
"All right, well if you have a preference, please inform either the captain or myself. In the meantime, why don't you man Science one" Alex said.
<Giga>
The android turned and went to man his station as Alex watched. Then the turbolift door swished open to reveal the figure of Admiral Maxwell, who stepped of, strode over to the extra chair that had been installed on the bridge. Alex stood until the Admiral had seated himself. Hunter glanced around the bridge and then said "Where's Capt. Weill?"
"He's started the ship on beta shift and went to his quarters. Is there anything I can help you with, Admiral?" Alex asked.
"Actually, there is. There is a freighter bearing 197.56 at a range of 7 light years. Could you plot an intercept course?" the admiral ordered.
"Yes sir" Alex replied. "Lt. Giga, could you scan for the freighter that the Admiral is looking for. Commander Zoarial, please plot an intercept course." The two officers set to their tasks. "What is aboard this freighter, sir."
"I'm afraid I can't reveal that right now, Commander. However, I will need some space in Cargo Bay One protected by security" Hunter said, turning to the Chief Security Officer.
<Nathan>
"Anything else Admiral?" Alex asked.
"No that should be all for now. How much time till we intercept the freighter, Commander Zoarial?" the admiral asked.
<Zoarial>

Alex Dixon: Dixon to Weill, Captain we are moving towards a freighter and should be there soon
Gus Weill: Who ordered the course?
Alex Dixon: The Admiral sir.
Gus Weill: On my way.
Weill got ready than pressed his combadge and than thought better of it.
Gus Weill: Computer, where is Admiral Hunter?
Computer: Admiral Hunter is in his quarters, those are the guest quarters.
Weill walked out and walked as quickly as he could to those quarters and he was going out of a feeling of irritation as to why this had happened without him being told and also because it was not even one of his staff who had done it. He pressed te chime and was called to come in.
Gus Weill: Admiral.
Maxwell Hunter: Calm down Captain, please do, i will explain everything, we are going on a small test, or rather some of your staff are. We are going to collect the now famous USS Stargazer....
Gus Weill: Constellation class, i havnt been on one of those in a long while.
Maxwell Hunter: Welll the idea is that you choose an officer to command the Stargazer and we escourt it back to the dep to be transferred to the starfleet museam, you will need crew etc to get the ship going, it is in tact but in a junk shop.
Gus Weill: Ok, i will command the Stargazer and my able First Officer will command the Raven, i will take Mr Dantrek and Mr Giga with me to the Stargazer.
Maxwell Hunter: Ok Captain, though i am suprised you are going to leave a newly made First Officer in charge of your ship and that you want to command an old rust bucket.
Gus Weill: An old rust bucket i havnt served on in many years and my first officer is more than caperble. So where does the freighter come in, it will take us to the junk yard.

Zoarial was pretty bored as he had nothing to do. When he started as a cadet on the academy Zoarial knew that a CNO wouldn't get much action unless there was a spacefight, but he was too attracted by the position to get another one.
So of course he was glad to get some action, but his sensors noted nothing strange.
He was about to ask for instructions or a new course when he got an order from the first officer.
Alex: Commander Zoarial, please plot an intercept course for the admiral, The freighter is about 7 lightyears away, bearing 197.56.
Zoarial: Aye sir
This task wasn't too hard, but it was enough diversion to keep Zoarial from sleeping.
Zoarial: Computer, plot an intercept course for the freighter, Bearing 197.56
Slowly all the planets moved to the left and the ship headed straight towards the freighter. Zoarial muttered a complaint under his breath, if he was notified of this freighter sooner he wouldn't have to travel this useless distance.
A conversation between the other officers went on, and after a couple of minutes Zoarial dropped out of warp and put the Raven on full impulse.
Admiral Hunter: How much time till we intercept the freighter, Commander Zoarial?
Zoarial: I estimate about 3 hours admiral, I prefer to close in on it slowly, I'm still a little bit cautious after our trip through the Briar patch.
Admiral Hunter: Don't worry about it commander, this is not at all a hostile vessel. Carry on.
Zoarial nodded and turned back to his viewscreen. He heard the bridge doors close behind him and noticed that he was humming *Maxwell has just left the building*, a slightly modified version of a song by Frank Zappa, a musician from earth.
Slowly the freighter got bigger on the viewscreen and Zoarial noted how bad a shape it was in. He wondered whether it really carried an item of great value with it but he didn't dare to question the admirals orders.
The ETA on his console jumped from 60 minutes to 59 minutes and 59 seconds, and in a reflex Zoarial tapped his commbadge to notify captain Weill.
Zoarial: =/\=Commander Zoarial to captain Weill, we will intercept the freighter in one hour.=/\=

"Lt. Giga, initiate full scan of the freighter" Alex said, then got up from his chair and walked over to the science station as the sensors probed the freighter. Alex watched as information regarding the freighter started displaying on various consoles. "That ship is pretty beat up. I'm surprised she's able to fly at all" the First Officer stated incredulously, then looked at the readouts more carefully. The sensors were giving readings on the exterior, but nothing on what was inside. No information on the crew, cargo or anything inside the hull.
"The ship is travelling with a high energy damping field" Giga declared, "which is why we aren't getting any interior readings."
Alex grunted in an irritated fashion, then turned to Lt. Harper. "Nathan, open a channel to the freighter."
"I've been trying" he replied. "No response."
Dixon frowned grimly. He wasn't very happy. "Yellow alert, shields up" he ordered. "Bridge to engineering."
"Go ahead, commander" Dan Trek replied.
"Dan, I'm not too worried, but we're approaching a freighter and it's a little suspicious. Try to be ready for anything" Alex said, feeling a little foolish. It was hard to tell anyone how to be prepared for the unknown.
<Dan Trek>
"Commander" Nathan said suddenly, "we're getting an incoming message from the freighter!"

Alex Dixon: Captain Weill to the bridge, we have a communication from the freighter.
Gus Weill: On my way Commander, had Admiral Hunter been informed?
Alex Dixon: No sir.
Gus Weill: Please do and i will be up on the bridge ASAP.
Alex Dixon: Understood Captain.... Admiral Hunter, could you please come to the bridge, communication from the freighter
Maxwell Hunter: On my way Commander.
Weill got up and walked out of his room to the corridors and made his way to the bridge.
Hunter on the otherhand walked as fast as he could, he seemed to e taking the situation very passionatly and he was curious as to the freighter as he didnt know one was supposed to be meeting them. Hunter walked onto the bridge and Weill had not yet arrived.
Maxwell Hunter: What is this Commander? I didnt know a freighter was going to be meeting us.
Alex Dixon: Yes sir, there is also a dampening field we have to contend with and that is causing me some concern.
Weill walked onto the bridge to take control.

Alex stared at the shape of the freighter as the Raven closed in on it. It sure was in dilapidated condition. "Zoarial, close to within transporter range." The Klingon nodded and the Raven continued it's careful approach to the other ship as the turbolift doors swished open and the Captain and Admiral Maxwell stepped onto the bridge.
The captain sat down in his chair, turned to Lt. Harper and said "Open a channel to the freighter" who complied quickly. A Bolian appeared on the main viewscreen.
"This is the freighter Ardis. Captain Drema speaking."
Weill glanced over at Dixon and nodded slightly at him. Alex took this as a request to handle this particular issue. Alex sat up straighter as he looked at the viewscreen. "Freighter Ardis, this is the USS Raven. You have a delivery for us?"
The Bolian nodded cautiously. "Yes, I received a request for spare engineering parts for a Constellation class Federation starship. I happened to have some stockpiled, but it was quite difficult to get them here."
"That's fine, Captain" Alex replied. "Please lower your dispersion field and prepare them for transport to our ship."
"Not so fast, Commander. As I said, it was quite difficult to get them here. Much more so than I had previously thought. I regret that I'm going to have to ask for greater compensation" Captain Drema said, his eyes narrowing craftily.
Alex glanced over at Admiral Maxwell, who shook his head negatively. "Sorry, Captain Drema, but it seems that you have already been adequately compensated for the parts. I strongly suggest that you lower your field and prepare the parts for transport" the First Officer warned.
The Bolian glanced off screen for a moment and nodded. Lt. Harper then spoke. "Captain, the freighter's shields have just come on. They are... unusually strong for a ship of that size."
"We need those parts" Maxwell murmurred quietly.
<suggestions, anyone?>

OFF:
This is a joint post bewteen Lt. Jg Nathan Harper and myself. We both apologise for our abscence recently. Hopefully we will make up for it in this post.
ON:
"I do not require rest." Giga replied. "I can man any shift at any time with no detremental effect to my duties."
"Unerstood Sir." Giga moved over to the console and stood ready for orders.
Nathan walked over to Giga.
"Hello Lt." He said, trying his hardest to be friendly and welcoming. He wasn't very good at that sort of thing. "I am Lt. Nathan Harper, Cheif of Security on the Ravem. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask. I know what it is like to be the new guy!"
Giga looked up and nodded. "Thank you for your kind welcome. I am sure I will function well however if I do experience difficulties I will seek assitance."
Nathan was slightly shocked by this reply then he remebered that Lt. Giga was an Android.
"Very well Lt. I will allow you to carry on with your duties." Nathan said moving back to his console.
Nathan saw the Admiral enter the bridge and he listened intently to the Admiral's orders.
"Of course Sir. I will assign security teams immediately." Nathan said.
Time passed as the ship moved off to find a freighter. Nathan was more than a little confused but he just accepted his orders and carried on.
Giga was scanning the local area.
Nathan was concerned. Why a high enery dampening field on a freighter?
Alex grunted in an irritated fashion, then turned to Lt. Harper. "Nathan, open a channel to the freighter."
"I've been trying" he replied. "No response." Nathan said.
"Commander" Nathan said suddenly, "we're getting an incoming message from the freighter!"
Nathan was more than shocked, he was not expecting that at all.
Captain Weill entered the bridge a short while after Commander Dixon contacted him.
Captain, the freighter's shields have just come on. They are... unusually strong for a ship of that size." Nathan said after a conversation between the Bolian Captain of the freighter and Captain Weill had taken place, resulting in the sheilds being raised.
"I believe I can modify the phasers to cut through their sheilds." Giga said. "With Lt. Harper's assistance."

The freigter had appeared to be more to deal with the Admiral Hunter had accepted, Weill got ready and was going to make sure he wasnt beaten by a freighter.
Gus Weill: Red alert, shields up, evasive manoeuvres pattern beta 2
Zoarial: Pattern Beta 2 sir
Gus Weill: Mr Giga, go ahead, but quickly would be best
Giga: Yes sir.
Gus Weill: Mr Dixon, can you keep you eye on the phaser modifications.
Alex Dixon: Bridge to Commander Dantrek, can we have more power to the shields, it wouldnt suprise me if the weapons have been updated on that.
Dantrek: Understood Commander
Gus Weill: Mr Black, please communicate with starfleet and let them know we are engaging, agressive freighter, send details, send another copy to S47 command.
Matthew Black: Yes sir.
Nathan Harper: Sir their weapons are charging.

(OOC: I have Captain Weill's authority to do this)
Joktel looked over at Dan, eyes rather wide. "Now that's what I call cryptic."
Dan nodded, wondering whats going on.
Joktel looked over at a screen. "Looks like a Bolian freighter, captained by a man by the name of Drema...ah yes I remember him."
Dan looked over, a questioning look on his face.
Joktel then realized. "Oh, sorry. While you were gone, Nephi installed a monitoring program on the Bridge. It filters what's happening and sends the useful information to Engineering."
"I knew he was talented. Anything else?"
"Drema is a getting hostile, demanding extra payment. And shields are going up."
"Reroute power to the shields. Take it from wherever you need to," Dan said in compliance.
Paria nodded and began boosting shield power. The ship then rocked with the first blast. It had quite a bit of impact for a freighter. Dan had a thought then turned to Joktel. "Joktel, you're Bolian, where would the shield generator be on a Bolian freighter?"
Joktel brought up an image of the freighter. "It would be right here," he said, pointing to the midsection. "Why?"
Dan nodded. "I'll be on the Bridge." He turned and left Engineering, and quickly went to the Bridge. When he entered, "Captain, I think I know a way to disable their shields and dampening field." Weill turned around and thought a moment, then nodded.
Dan went to the Tactical station, where both Giga and Harper were working. "Working on modifications to the phaser array? Let me see." They stepped aside and he looked at it. "A phase modulation...yes that will be quite helpful." He then began making adjustments. "I'm taking additional power from the fusion reactors and the impulse drive, I hope you don't mind Zoarial. I'm also adjust the phaser array to focus the energy to a single half-meter section, rather than the entire array. It'll damage the array, but we've still got three more and I'll worry about it later. There we go. And thanks to Jotkel, I know where their shield generator is. Targeting, and firing phasers."
An almost white phaser beam shot out at the freighter. Dan looked at the console. "Their shields and dampening field are down, Captain."

The attack had progressed and Weill culdnt believe that such a freighter had such weapons and shields and even more that it would dare attack an Intrepid class starship.
Gus Weill: Understood Commander, Mr Zoarial, can you move us closer to the vessel.
Zoarial: Moving to within 200 metres sir.
Gus Weill: Mr Black, Open a channel.
Mattew Black: Channel open Captain.
Gus Weill: < Enemy vessel, this is Captain Gus Weill of the Federation Starship, USS Raven, you have engaged in hostile acts and i ask you to surrender>.
About a minute passed where nothing happened, Weill looked directly at the viewscreen.
Dantrek: Dantrek to Captain.
Gus Weill: Go ahead.
Dantrek: Sir there is a buildup in their engines, they may have a self destruct, but it seems to be a long way from detonating.
Gus Weill: Are you sure of that Commander?
Dantrek: Well at the current power levels it wouldnt destroy the vessel.
Gus Weill: Understood, Mr Dixon, Mr Harper and Zoarial can you beam over there and locate the cargo we need and if you can disable the self destruct do so.
Alex Dixon: Yes sir..
Maxwell Hunter: Commander i will be joining you
Gus Weill: No Admiral, i cant allow you to go into an hostile area.
Mawell Hunter: Ok i will take 1 security guard to protect me.
Gus Weill: [talking to Alex Dixon] Ok go... get this done quickly..... and commander take care of the Admiral.
Alex Dixon: Aye sir
They walked out and it was not long before they were on the freighter......

Dixon, Harper, Zoarial, Admiral Maxwell and Ensign Haywood of Security materialized on the bridge of the Ardis, weapons drawn. They were all heavily armed. Capt. Drema turned and watched the end of the materialization process. "Wecome aboard Admiral. So nice to see you again" the Bolian said sarcastically.
"I wish I could say the same" Maxwell replied. "Why are you asking for more money? I thought that our original agreement was pretty good for you." As the Admiral and Bolian talked, Alex quietly gestured at the rest of the away team. In response, they spread out around the bridge, covering the Ardis' bridge crew. Alex then pulled out his tricorder.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, Admiral" Dixon said after taking his readings, "but the power buildup in the engines is continuing. Are you trying to blow up your ship, Capt. Drema?"
Drema looked at Alex scornfully. "Of course not. That would be a waste. I have a terawatt level electromagnetic pulse generator attached to my engines. I'm planning on setting it off. The resultant blast will wipe the Raven's computers, leaving me free to leave, with the cargo. Unless you pay my price, Admiral."
"Setting of a EM pulse that strong will wipe your computers as well" Alex said. He looked down at his tricorder. The EM pulse generator was creating a strong subspace field around the Ardis. The away team wouldn't be able to beam off now, or even communicate with the Raven.
"That would be true if my computers weren't heavily shielded" Drema replied. "Which they are."
"Shut it down, Drema" Alex ordered, pointing his phaser at the Bolian, who shrugged in response.
"Can't be done from here. Only from engineering" he said.
Zoarial muttered something in Klingon that Alex assumed was an obscenity of some kind, then growled "What do we do now?"
Alex thought quickly and came to his decision. "This" he said. Dixon set his phaser to wide angle dispersion and stunned the bridge crew of the Ardis. Then he turned to the rest of the away team. "Zoarial, Harper and Haywood, head to the Engineering section and see if you can disarm this EM pulse generator. Admiral Maxwell and I will barricade the doors here and see if we can disable it from the bridge. We'll also try to warn the Raven."

Weill was on the bridge watching the viewscreen with incredible intensity and concentration. He tapped his hand on the arm of his bridge chair, at a regular beat that was quite loud in a near silent bridge. He than looked around and saw the bridge crew look at him. He stopped tapping his hand as he realise dit might be a distraction and not helping an already tense situation.
Gus Weill: Mr Giga, would you come over here please
Giga: Yes sir
Giga walked over, he than stood at rigid attention and looked at the Captain, he seemed to til his head than when Weill looked up he put it at the rigid attention mark. Giga was an unusual characater, he was of course an android, he was of a sportmans build with unusual yelow eyes and brown hair.
Gus Weill: Mr Giga, i havnt had a chance to welcome you aboard the USS Raven, i have read your service record and it is most impressive, glowing comments from Commodore ONE.
Giga: Thankyou Captain.
Gus Weill: Well i hope you find the ship acceptable.
Giga: I am sure i will sir.
He was dismissed and walked back to his station, within a second of him seating himself, there was a bleep.
Giga: We have a communication sir.... it is Commander Dixon and Admiral Hunter.

Alex: Shut it down, Drema.
Drema: Can't be done from here. Only from engineering.
Zoarial couldn't help but flinging a high dose of klingon slang towards Drema, and realised only a second later that he should be glad that he wasn't on a klingon ship. assumed
Zoarial: What do we do now?
Alex: This
And to Zoarial's amazement, Alex stunned all the bridge crew in one phasersweep.
Alex: Zoarial, Harper and Haywood, head to the Engineering section and see if you can disarm this EM pulse generator. Admiral Maxwell and I will barricade the doors here and see if we can disable it from the bridge. We'll also try to warn the Raven.
Zoarial: Yes sir! Lt Harper, I hope that you have some engineering experience! Follow me.
Zoarial automatically headed for the bridge doors only remember that they were shut. He was sure that there wouldn't be any transporters operating so he turned to Nathan.
Zoarial: Could you help me find an entrance to the jeffriestubesystem? I'm pretty sure that there is one somewhere in this room.
Nathan: Yes sir.
While they were searching Zoarial noticed Alex and Maxwell closing up the bridge, and it seemed that there wouldn't be any other way to exit the bridge anymore.
Zoarial: Have you had any luck finding the entrance mr Harper?
Nathan: Not yet.
Suddenly Zoarial noticed that a bolian crewmember who should have been stunned but was smirking instead.
Zoarial: What are you smirking at?
Bolian man: Nothing, except that you won't find what you're looking for, because it is too well hid... err.. because it isn't there.
Zoarial grabbed the man by his collar and yanked him up.
Zoarial: Speak up and I might decide to leave you unharmed
Bolian man: I am not afraid of some puny klingon!
Zoarial: You don't have to be, you only have to be afraid of what he is going to do to you.
And with that he tightened his grip and raised the man into the air. But this was disapproved by Alex.
Alex: Enough commander! I forbid you to do any further harm innocent people.
Zoarial: Yes sir. I will keep myself from it, I will only warn innocent people.
Zoarial put the bolian man down on the ground and whispered in his ear.
Zoarial: I'm going to warn you about the fact that this puny klingon doesn't always fear reprimands, understood?
And with a white face the bolian pointed towards the tactical console with a shaking finger.
Bolian man: There is a h-h-hatch... next to... that console.
Zoarial: You heard him Lt Harper! Let's go!
And without any interference Zoarial ripped open the hatch to see a dark narrow tube. He felt his heart racing and gestured towards Nathan.
Zoarial: Lead the way lieutenant!

Alex watched as the three Raven officers disappeared through the hidden hatch. He felt extremely foolish for having locked down the bridge of the Ardis before letting them leave. Just caught up in the heat of the moment, he thought to himself.
He walked over and quickly bound the hands and feet of the Bolian that Zoarial had found. In the meantime, the Admiral started trying to access the systems of the freighter through the bridge consoles. "Well, it seems that Capt. Drema was correct. There's no way to access the EM generator from the bridge." Alex walked over and glanced over Hunter's shoulder. The Admiral was looking at a simple display of generator status. It looked like it was independently controlled from Engineering. Alex shook his head and accessed a different console.
"It looks like we only have a few minutes till the thing goes off. Admiral, I'm going to try to access the internal systems of the freighter. Could you try to get a clear comm channel to the Raven?" Alex asked. The Admiral moved to the communications array and started.
Alex moved quickly through the various systems, trying to find someway to assist Zoarial, Harper and Haywood. Abruptly, he stumbled onto the internal security menus. Surprisingly, there was a fairly sophisticated internal security setup, including an anasthezine system. Smiling grimly, Alex flooded the engine room with the gas, then activated the internal sensors and scanned the compartment. It looked like all the engineers were now unconscious. That should help them, Alex thought to himself.
Alex was still looking over the internal systems, when the main hatch to the bridge emitted a loud noise, which started repeating. He looked over at the Admiral, who stared back. "It seems someone wants to talk to us" Maxwell said calmly.

As the jeffriestubes were mainly used by engineers, it wasn't hard for Zoarial and Nathan to get to main engineering.
When they popped open the hatch to the engineering room, some gass slipped into the tube.
Zoarial: Quick! Close the hatch! I think that someone is trying to subdue us!
Zoarial scanned a puf of smoke with his tricoder and reckognized the structure of an anasthezine gas, a structure he had become quite farmiliar with in his youth since his parents had used it loads of times on him.
Zoarial: Don't worry Lt Harper, in about 20 seconds this gas will fall apart, it is meant to get everyone in the room unconscious for half an hour but it falls apart almost immideately when in continuous contact with a certain ammount of oxigen. I doubt whether we'll actually have half an hour to get the situation over with, but it's a usefull advantage.
This time Zoarial was the first to get out of the tube. As he had predicted there wasn't any sign of the gas anymore, only a dozen of unconscious people.
Zoarial: I think that our presence here is not unnoticed, once they find out that we are still awake they'll probably send a team to prevent us from shutting down the system. Could you secure the area Lt. Harper?
<<nathan>>
Zoarial: Ok, and once you're done I could use some help with the mecanics. As I said before I'm not VERY good with them, and you seemed to be cabable of ripping up my helm, so this shouldn't be to big of a problem either.
Zoarial gave a quick smile and turned to the generator and saw a blinking time indicator.
*5 minutes to go...* Zoarial thought to himself, *now where is the off-switch?*

Nathan had remained silent since leaving the Raven, just following orders and waiting - keeping an eye out at all times.
Nathan continued to search for the hatch, he was sure this wasn't in his job description but his senior officer had given him an order.
Nathan was destracted from his search by Commander Zoarial intimadating a Bolian crewman. Nathan was just about to intervene when Commander Dixon forbade the Klingon from any further action like that. It was probably a good job the Commander had interevened, Nathan imagined that Zoarial would not be impressed if the Lt. had stopped the situation.
Of course that made sense. Send the lower officer into unknown territory... Nathan didn't know what was wrong with him, everything that everyone did seemed to be annoying him.
Nathan crawled through the tube, debris lined the tube. He imagined that this tbe would have been used for engineers, which explained the tools.
They arrived at the end of the network of tubes and Nathan turned round to kick open the hatch, as the hatch fell down to the floor, some kind of gas seeped into the conduit.
Nathan was not overly concerned, his genetics allowed him to hold his breath for well over an hour, his lungs had been genetically modified to literally store oxygen. No one knew of this however...
Nathan looked at the people who lay unconcious. It was more than a little disturbing, Nathan drew his phaser as a precaution.
"Of course Sir." Nathan replied.
"Yes Sir, I will secure the area and assist you after." Nathan said, Zoarials last comment although a joke had annoyed him. He was really stressed, he hoped that he would be able to control his temper.
Nathan sealed all entrances to the room and closed the hatch he then barricaded the main entrance. If he had had more time he would seal the doors with a forcefielf, however time was of the escence.
"The are is secure Commander. Where do you need my help?" Nathan asked.

Giga had began to run scans of the freighter, he decided that he had better fully familiarise himself with the consoles. Although he knew his way around the ship as he had downloaded the schematics he still knew a little extra knowledge would not be a problem.
Something caught Giga's attention.
"Captain, I am reading unusually high energy readings from the frighter. The source on the freighter is unknown at this time."
"What type of enery reading Lt?" Weill said, remaining seated.
"I am unsure yet Captain, although it shares some consistencys with Nuclear emissions. Which is highly unusual." Giga noted.
"Indeed. Keep scanning Lt."
"Yes Sir, however I recommend we raise sheilds. If the enregy emissions are nuclear they may cause cell mutation and other problems."
"Proceed Mr. Giga. Keep me informed." The Captain replied.
Giga raised sheilds from his console. The tactical station stood empty at the time.
Giga also began to plan adaptations to the Science systems, and decided that the Labs needed upgrading...

Alex continued to analyze the freighters systems while the banging on the door continued. There was really little else to do until Zoarial and Nathan deactivated the electromagnetic generator. Admiral Maxwell was continuing to try to contact the Raven through the interference the generator was putting out. Dixon found that he was beginning to admire the Admiral and his ability to concentrate despite the fact that an undoubtedly armed group was trying to get at him.
Abruptly, him communicator chirped and the voice of Zoarial cut through the static. "Commander, we're into the engineering section, but neither of us are sure what we're looking for."
Dixon wasn't really sure what the generator would look like either, but could make an educated guess. "It'll be a large, metallalic device shaped like a cylinder. It should be connected directly to the warp core by an energy cable and have no other connections to the freighter's systems. It should be easiest to just disconnect it from the warp core then shut it down manually."
"Acknowledged, stand by" Zoarial replied.
"I hope Cmdr. Zoarial hurries" Maxwell said, glancing at the door. "They are going to be through very shortly."
"I'm not worried Admiral. Zoarial is very good at what he does, as is Lt. Harper. They'll deactivate the generator in time" Dixon said strongly.
I hope, he thought to himself...

Zoarial saw that Nathan grew a bit irritated and decided that it would be best to leave him alone a little although Zoarial did think that his last remark was very funny.
Nathan: The area is secure Commander. Where do you need my help?
Zoarial: It seems to me that there isn't an obvious way to shut it down mr Harper we'll have to cut into the systems and try to disconnect the detonator with the generator.
The timer showed that only 3 minutes remained and Zoarial felt a drop of sweat pour over his forehead.
Zoarial: They have somehow strengthened the construction sothat we can't just dismantle the countdown system. I am sure that if we use force to open it up, some emergency program will engage and set the thing of immideately.
It seemed to Zoarial that neither he or Nathan was able to find a way to stop the disaster and with only two minutes away the tension could be seen on his face.
Zoarial: I think it's reasonable to give up all hope, it seems that the generator can't be shut down.
=/\= Zoarial to Commander Dixon, I hope that you have prepared the raven for impact, the sight is going to be nasty=/\=
<<alex>>
And Zoarial was about to head back to the freighter's bridge when he saw Nathan nursing a slight wound in his arm
Zoarial: 1 minute to go, we'd better get out of here or else there won't be any way of getting us of this ship. Do you need any medical attention mr Harper
Nathan: No sir, it's just a slight bruise.
Zoarial: Bruise you say? I think you have just found our solution! I can recall an article about EMP's used in the medical world. If set to an extremely low frequence, below 100 Hertz if I'm correct, the EMP won't damage the system and it will even heal slight injuries! Let's get to it right away.
And with new enthousiasm Zoarial bent over the console to find a way to reduce the ammount of pulses per second. With only a seconds to go the pressure was on.
While Zoarial tried to override the frequency there was an enormous explosion and the door to engineering was wiped away. A team of security people climbed over the debries to try and overpower Zoarial and Nathan and a rapid gunfire commenced.
One of the first couple of shots hit barely struck target but Zoarial had other things on his mind.
30 seconds to go.
The lights in engineering dimmed and a computervoice recommended all people inside the room to evacuate. The security team instantly backed away, already more than half had been taken down by Nathan.
The computer now started to count down from 10.
Zoarial was empowered by this rush of adrenaline and was tapping about 200 buttons per minute, if he would have had the time.
5...
Zoarial: Wait! Allmost there!
4...
Nathan: Hurry up commander!
3...
Zoarial: I'm doing the best I can!
2...
Nathan: Then do better!
1...
And with every strenght he had in him, Zoarial banged the last button.
Computer: EMP emitted.
This was an unnecesary announcement because an enormous wave could be felt through the whole ship. Zoarial was thrown against the ground and felt a sharp pain running through his left arm. With his other arm, Zoarial reached for his commbadge.
Zoarial: =/\=Zoarial to Dixon, report!

Alex peered over Maxwell's shoulder as the EMP device counted down to it's final seconds. Then, the lights on the bridge went dark as it emitted a massive EMP pulse. After a few seconds, the lights came back up and the computers back online. "Do you still have faith in Zoarial and Harper?" the Admiral asked acidly.
"Yes sir" Dixon bit back, failing to add whose fault it was that they were dealing with this freighter in the first place. He activated the freighters consoles and accessed the sensors. The Raven was close by, and appeared to be dead in the water. No lights, no blue glow from the nacelles. Not even the navigation lights were on. However, he was detecting an old style radio transmission from the Raven.
As he did, he was interrupted by a fast call across his comm badge. "Zoarial to Dixon, report!"
"Stand by, Commander" Alex said, but left the channel open.
Puzzled, he walked over to the comm station, accessed the lateral sensors and ran the transmission through the communication subsystems. Once the process was complete, Dan Trek's cheerful voice filled the room. "Raven to Dixon, come in."
Curiousity filled Alex's voice. "Dixon here, how did you manage to get a radio together?"
"It was nothing. I knew that if the EMP went off, it would knock out a fair bit of the Raven, so I had my engineers put together an old fashioned radio transmitter that wouldn't be affected. What's your status?" Dan asked.
"We have control of the freighter's bridge and engineering section. The Admiral and I have cut off their secondary control centre, so we have effective control of the ship. What's yours?" he inquired.
"As expected, the EMP has erased the majority of the ships computer software, but I arranged extra shielding around the main computer core. We should be able to get the ship working again in about 5 minutes, once we reload everything from the core. Think that you can hold out that long?" Dan said.
"No problem Dan. Did you catch all that, Zoarial?"
<Zoarial>
"Beam us back when you can, Raven. Dixon out."

(OOC: Just checked and realized I havent posted in 2 and a half weeks now. My apologies, Captain)
Joktel looked over at Dan. "Is there a copy in the Core of everything thats missing?"
"I most certainly hope so. I wasn't able to fully shield the core before that pulse went off. So hopefully we still have everything we need."
He looked confused. "But how do we restore what we lost? Forgive for my ignorance. I know I should know this as Assistant CEO, but I'm not a computer systems specialist."
Paria then looked over. "But I am. I'll give you a little lesson in computer architecture, Joktel. The ship is built with a structure similar to that of the Security Clearance system. The systems only have access to the information they need to operate The key systems have direct access to most the information in the core, whereas the subsystems have access to less information. The subsystems at the bottom of the hierarchy don't even have access to core, but instead have copies of the subroutines they need stored within themselves."
Joktel nodded. "So how does that help us?"
Paria continued. "As I said, they have copies of the subroutines they need. The originals are kept in the Core itself. And fortunately, the core also contains subroutines that allow us to copy and transfer the necessary subroutines. I just hope those subroutines weren't damaged." She checked that on a console, then pounded the console in frustration. "Darn it, they've been deleted!"
Joktel sighed. "Now what do we do?"
Dan spoke up. "I had a contingency plan in an emergency such as this." He went into his Officer, grabbed a isolinear chip out of a drawer, and came back. "This is a backup copy of necessary subroutines." He pulled a panel off below his station, and inserted the chip. "That should do it."
Paria activated the program, and smiled. "Its working. Subroutines are being copied to necessary subsystems."
"Computer, how long until the copying is complete?" Dan asked.
"Estimated time: 2.5 minutes."
"Excellent."
A few minutes later, the computer beeped. "Copying complete."
Dan nodded. "I'll be in the transporter room."
He lefted Engineering, and went to the transporter room on Deck 4. When he arrived there, he attempted to establish a signal lock on the away team, and fortunately, it worked. Dan tapped the comm circuit.
"Trek to away team. The computer software has been restored, and we can beam you up whenever you're ready, sir."

Dixon's comm badge chirped happily. "Trek to away team. The computer software has been restored, and we can beam you up whenever you're ready, sir."
"Thank you commander. I'm ready to get off of this rust bucket right now. Beam the away team over, and don't forget the parts that we need for the Stargazer. They're in the second hold" Alex said.
The freighter's bridge evaporated, to be replaced by the clean lines of the Raven's transporter room. The controls of the transporter were being handled by Dan Trek himself, which made Alex very comfortable. "Are the spare parts aboard?" he asked of the Chief Engineer.
"Yes, in Cargo Bay 4" Dan replied.
"Excellent, we should all go up to the bridge and see what our little friend is up to" Alex said, and the group left Transporter Room 1.
Arriving at the bridge, Alex could see that Weill was sitting in his usual chair. He was examining the display console in the arm of the captain's chair with a frown on his face. Alex, Nathan, Zoarial and Dan took their stations, while Admiral Maxwell remained standing by the turbolift.
The freighter tumbled slowly through space, apparetnly powerless and out of control. It made Alex quite happy to watch.
"Mr. Harper, report on the freighter's status" Weill said.
<Harper>
"Fine. Send the ships' coordinates to Starbase 515 and request that they send out a tug to bring it in. I don't think that ship is going anywhere for a while. Mr. Zoarial, please plot a course to the Stargazer."

After the EMP pulse occurred Nathan took a deep breath and steadied himself. He needed to take his medication.
The away teams beamed back to the Raven and Nathan began to head towards his quaters where he could straighten up and take his medication.
Nathan had caught the tail end of that conversation, that meant that he wouldnt get a chance to go to his quaters.
He brushed back his hair with his hands and took a deep breath.
On arriving on the Bridge Nathan took his post and awaited orders, keeping an eye on the Freighter at all times.
"The ships hull and life support are just about the only things that are intact over there. The EMP pulse pretty much blew everything out." Nathan replied.
Nathan nodded and transmitted the coordinates.

Zoarial wondered why his little scheme didn't work. But before he was able to consult Dan, new orders came from Alex.
Alex: Mr. Zoarial, please plot a course to the Stargazer.
Zoarial: Yes sir!
Zoarial retrieved the coordinates from the admiral, who seemed to know all things related to the current "mission".
With some taps on the console Zoarial entered some commands but the ship wasn't responding.
Zoarial: Zoarial to engineering, how long will it take to get the impulse engines online?
<<Dan>>
Zoarial: Ok thank you, please hurry up with the warp engines too, or it'll take days to get to the stargazer.
<<Dan>>
And just like Dan had predicted the impulse engines sprang to life and the Raven was slowly heading for it's destination.
Zoarial: ETA to the stargazer, 3 days, but when the warp engines are up and running I hope that we can reduce that time to a reasonable ammount.

Alex breathed a sigh of relief. The Raven seemed to be safe for the first time in a while. He looked over at Captain Weill, who seemed to be lost in thought. "Captain, is everything all right?" Dixon asked.
Weill came out of his reverie. "Yes, I'm fine Alex." The captain activated the ship wide comm. "The Raven is now on yellow alert. Stand down from battle stations. Gamma shift report to the bridge." The bridge lights returned to a normal level, and after a few minutes new bridge personel started trickling in, relieving those who had been on duty for such a long time.
"Join me in my ready room, Commander" the Captain said. Alex nodded and the two of them left the bridge.
Alex was headed to the chair by the desk, where he normally sat, but Weill waved him onto the couch, then walked over to the desk, opened the bottom drawer and pulled out a bottle three quarters full of green liquid. The captain turned to the replicator and said "Two glasses, empty." The replicator hummed and he poured the two half full of the green liquid.
The captain carried the glasses to the couch and handed Alex one, then sat down and nodded. Alex took a swig and then a sudden intake of breath as the liquid burned it's way down his throat. When he looked over, the captain was just lowering his drink as well.
"Saurian brandy" he said. "I save it for special occasions."
"What's the occasion, captain?" Alex inquired.
"I have decided to leave Starfleet" Weill pronounced.
Alex was stunned. He was very happy to have his captain back after the last time. "But why sir? I thought that you were happy to be back aboard the ship!"
Weill shook his head and smiled at his protege. "I am happy to be back, Alex. But I have decided that exploring space like this is no longer for me."
Puzzled, the First Officer asked "Are you going to go back to your earth assignment?"
Weill shook his head. "No, I'm leaving Starfleet entirely and be entirely on my own."
Alex's surprise was now complete. After a few minutes of silence, he asked "But where will you go.
Gus shrugged and took another sip of his drink. "To a far better place. I'm sure..."
