Commander Trek sat in his Ready Room, reading over the personnel transfers. Behind him, on the wall, hung a very large potrait of his family. Because of the sheer size of his family, this included only he and his 30 children. It was taken several years ago, due to the difficulty in getting that many actively working people together. Looking over the personnel, he remembered one particular personnel matter to attend to.
"Trek to Ensign McLean. Report to my Office as soon as possible," He said over the comm.
<McLean>
A few minutes later, the door chime went off. "Come," he said.
The door opened, and McLean stepped in. "You wanted to see me, Captain?"
"Yes I did, Ensign. Come in." He said, then stepped around his desk, holding a small wooden box. "Ensign, I have spoken with Commander Joktel, and he says your performance these past few weeks has been exemplory. Therefore, I am hereby promoted you to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, with all the rights, priveleges and duties pertaining thereto."
He opened the box, and replaced the Acting Ensign's pip will a gold one and a black one. "Congratulations, Lieutenant."
<McLean>
"Now, I believe Commander Joktel needs you back in Engineering."
<McLean>
After McLean left, Dan hit his commbadge again. "Trek to Lt. Jackson, please report to my Ready Room as soon as possible."

Scott McLean had been working in engineering during the first part of his duty shift. He had to admit that cleaning up after the brain as no easy task, several systems had be damaged and needed spare parts from Starbase Assailant before they could get them run and running again. McLean had also noticed Commander Joktel had been distance with McLean, seeing as there could have been a problem with the work he was doing McLean began to walk to the Chief Engineer’s office to discuss the matter personally with Commander Joktel.
"Trek to Ensign McLean. Report to my Office as soon as possible," He said over the comm.
“On my way sir.” McLean replied.
It took a few minutes for McLean to get from the depths of Engineering to the Commander Trek’s ready room connected to the bridge. Standing in front of the door McLean always had an uneasy feeling when he was to report to the Captain’s ready room, not that he felt did anything wrong but he worried most of the times that he could have done more. Pushing the door chime McLean waited for the enter call.
”Come.” McLean heard come from the other side of the door.
Stepping into the room McLean immediately noticed a large portrait of what appeared to be Commander Trek’s family hanging directly behind Commander Trek on the wall.
“You wanted to see me sir?” McLean asked.
"Yes I did, Ensign. Come in." He said, then stepped around his desk, holding a small wooden box. "Ensign, I have spoken with Commander Joktel, and he says your performance these past few weeks has been exemplary. Therefore, I am hereby promoted you to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, with all the rights, privileges and duties pertaining thereto."
McLean watched as Commander Trek opened a small wooden box containing two new pips, one gold one and one black pip. Trek pulled off the single black pip, replacing it with the two new ones from the wooden box.
"Congratulations, Lieutenant." Trek said extending his hand to shake McLean’s.
“Thank you sir.” McLean said taking Trek’s hand shaking it with a little too much excitement.
"Now, I believe Commander Joktel needs you back in Engineering."
“Yes sir he does.” McLean said turning and leaving the ready room.
McLean walked to the nearest turbo lift feeling the pips on his collar as he entered the turbo lift. It was a reminder of what he had left when he left Starfleet because of his wife and the possibility of children. McLean contained his excitement until the turbo lift doors closed where he pumped his firsts with great enthusiasm until the door slide open as a Ensign entered the occupied lift.
“Ensign.” McLean said completely embarrassed.
“Lieutenant.” The Ensign said with a smirk on his face.
With out waiting for anymore unwanted quests McLean quickly ordered the turbo lift down to engineering so he could report back to work.

It had all happened rather suddenly. Nathan had heard of Alex's departure and was truly sad for his CO to leave without the oppurtunity for Nathan to say goodbye, but he knew in the end this was his own fault. He had continued to take the drug, and so he had forced the crew of the Raven to confine him to quarters.
He stood now by his bed and gazed at the sheets that had upon them the little that he owed. He had received the communication that morning. He was being taken off the active duty list and transferred to a "rehab" clinic on Earth. Apparantly he was a danger to himself and the the crew. Nathan could see this, but was less than happy about leaving to go to a clinic.
He finished packing his belongings and then slung the bag on his back. He looked to his desk where he had purposefully left his uniform and comm badge...
That part of his life was over... That chapter was closed...
"Harper to Commander Trek." He said into the wall comm.
<TAG Commander Trek>
"I will be departing within the hour Sir. My transport should be here by now."
<TAG Commander Trek>
"Understood Commander... Oh and Commander." Nathan said. "Thank you." He added. "Harper out."
He left his quarters and headed towards shuttlebay One. While on his way he recorded a message of thanks and of apology to Dr. BeTor. She had stuck by him, no matter what the drug had done to him. He also took the time to send an apology to Nurse Packer, she had suffered his anger also.
The doors to the shuttlebay slowly slid open and Nathan stepped into the large room. He walked over to the shuttle he would be travelling in to Earth and was greeted by the pilot.
"Lieutenant." He said, nodding slightly.
Nathan sighed. "It's Mr. Harper, or actually, it's Nathan." He said. "I don't hold that rank any more."
The pilot sensed that this might be a bit of a painful topic so said nothing more on the matter. "If you would like to take a seat Mr. Harper, we'll be ready to launch soon."
Nathan nodded and climbed into the Shuttle. Before the hatch closed he looked out upon the shuttlebay and onto his last look at the Raven.
"See ya around." He muttered.

A single man in a camouflage combat outfit skittered over the fallen leaves. He was hunched low, as the enemy was still close, but for now there was a cease-fire. His boots crunching over twig and rock was the only sound for miles, and one that his superior picked up on immediately. He dashed to her side and disappeared behind a rock, one which the other had been using as cover. Although the enemy was silent, her weapon was still poised.
“The rebels have captured Wells.” Falconer said as he settled onto a patch of dirt beside her. Rio looked up at him from behind her helmet, her face encrusted with dust and blood.
“That would explain the cease-fire.” She concurred, glancing up at the sky. It was growing dark, and soon they would have little chance of intercepting their enemy. They would now assume they had the upper hand having captured one of her men, but her mission objective was top priority. If they didn’t secure the rebel leader then the battle had been for nothing. Thinking nothing more, she tapped her comm. badge and gave the order to move in, reminding her men to take the subject alive.
The troops, who spanned a wide ranging arc, moved as one towards their target. The skies grew darker still, but no opposition was forthcoming. They continued into the night, advancing on the camp, expecting an ambush at every turn. At length they fell upon the perimeter guard, but the stealth of the marines went unmatched. Rio lay the last unconscious body gently on the ground, and arranged him on his chest. Her men gathered around her, awaiting further orders.
“We think Turgan is located near the North East entrance.” Conway told her, indicating the direction despite the darkness. Rio put out a hand to divide up the group, sending half in the opposite direction to mount a distraction. That left herself, Falconer and Conway to capture Turgan and retrieve their prisoner.
The trio had barely reached their destination when the explosion burst into the night sky. The trees, crops, tents and huts went up in the ensuing fireball, and Turgan’s troops rallied into action. Rio patiently watched them disappear into the distance, her eyes fixed remained fixed on the door of the hut. If Turgan was indeed in there, he hadn’t left when the trap had been set. Simultaneously the three officers burst through the entrance, phasers pointed in all directions.
Her hand twitching slightly on the trigger, Rio prodded Turgan in the shoulder. He raised his hands in surrender, having no hope of reaching his weapon. His guards were secured and removed of their attributes, and maneuvered back against the planked wall. They looked on with hard nosed expressions as Rio pressed her phaser against their leaders temple.
“What have you done with Wells?” She spat at him. Turgan shot her an amicable smile, but gave her no answer. With her weapon still trained on him she turned to Conway, who nodded and moved towards the door. It closed behind him with a slight click.
=^=Trek to Lt. Jackson, please report to my Ready Room as soon as possible.=^=
While the woman’s eye were still on the door, Turgan took his chance. He grabbed the weapon and spun in around, ramming it forcibly into the woman’s cheekbone. She was caught unawares and fumbled for her sidearm, but it was quickly removed and pointed at Falconer. Another blow to the face dropped her to her knees, the breath knocked explosively out of her. Turgan looked down at her along the barrel of the rifle as he pressed down on the trigger.
“Computer end program!!” Falconer yelled. The phaser blast exploded from the weapon, and encompassed the woman in a dissipating hologram. Rio stood wide eyed and let out a long held breath.
She tapped her comm. badge. =^=On my way Sir.=^= she said cheerfully into the empty holodeck. She nodded to her subordinates, the pair of whom were looking overly subdued, and swiftly turned on her heel. Out in the corridor she received numerous strange looks as she stumbled back to her quarters. It was fortunate that her sense of direction was so keen, and she made it out of the bathroom in under ten minutes. Having replaced her combat uniform with a clean and pressed work version, she set off for the turbolift. Inside, she wiped a sleeve over the corner of her mouth and frowned at the bloodstain it left. As the doors opened to reveal the bridge, Rio wondered how much the Captain attributed to first impressions.

Captain Trek looked up as the door chime went off. "Come," he said.
The doors opened to reveal a young woman in a crisp Marine uniform. She stepped in. "Third Lieutenant Rio Jackson, Senior Marine Officer, reporting for duty sir," she said, standing at rigid attention.
As Dan stood and stepped around his desk, he made a quick survey of her appearance. She's standing at by-the-book attention, which says she's orderly and respectful. The uniform is pressed, which indicates she just changed it, which denotes respect. But there's blood on her sleeve, and a cut on her lip, which says she's also been training recently. All in all a dedicated Marine, he thought to himself, in the time it took to walk toward her.
"At ease, Lieutenant," he said cheerfully. He then extended his hand, and it was accepted, though his dwarfed hers. If she minded the sandpaper-like texture of his skin, she didn't show it. "Welcome aboard the Raven. Please, have a seat," he said, motioning to the other chair at his desk.
After they both sat down, he continued. "You have blood coming from your mouth, from training no doubt. You'll want to have that taken care of; we have an excellent Chief Medical Officer onboard. But anyway, good to have you aboard. Marines are a new addition to the Raven, as you probably know, but because of the enemies we've run into lately, I requested a Marine presence for the additional support."
"Starfleet's been working tirelessly to refit this ship to suit your requirements, and I think you'll be quite satisfied. The majority of Deck 10 has been modified to accomodate your needs, but let me know if there's anything lacking. You'll find 3 Starfighters in the Shuttlebay, specifically for Marine use. The Marine barracks is also on that deck. There is not shooting range, due to lack of space, but the Holodeck is yours whenever necessary for such uses."
He switched from the analytical, information type, now to more personal. "I hope your Marine company will be an asset to this ship. I want you to work closely with the Tactical/Security department. We have a new CTSO coming in, a Lieutenant Freedman. As you and he are both new, I want you to work together to help get each other settled. Now, do you have any questions?"
<Jackson>
"Yes, I can see to that. I want to meet your Marines. Have them assembled in Cargo bay One in half an hour for inspection. Dismissed."
<Jackson>
After the SMO left, Dan queried the Computer. "Computer, has Commander Smith reported into Starbase Assailant yet?"
"Affirmative."
Dan tapped his commbadge "Trek to Commander Smith. Report to my Ready Room at your earliest convenience."

Zoarial had some trouble surpressing his klingon nature lately, he was able to refrain himself from becoming an agressive rampaging monster, but here and there some twitches surfaced. He kept thinking back about the rather loud conversation he had with E'Liana a couple of months ago.
Was there honour to be obtained by serving as a CNO on a starfleet vessel? No. Was there even a slight chance for him to get killed in a honourable battle? Not anymore with the new marine officer aboard. His only hope was to be able to be transferred to the position of CTSO, but there was some buzz going round that the post was taken again.
Zoarial decided to visit the only person aboard that was closely related to him, the partially klingon CMO. At the moment repairs had to be done, so he didn't expect himself or E'Liana to have anything to do. Zoarial walked to the turbolift and headed for sickbay.
It still felt a bit odd for him to be in this place, especially for a part-klingon to be a CMO, but he decided not to mention it, because he wanted a good conversation, not a heated discussion. He knocked on the door, not liking the sound of the doorchime.
"Ms BeTor, this is commander Zoarial, are you there?" Zoarial said, after which the doors slid open and nurse Parker was standing in front of him.
"She's in her office right now, interrupting her with her work is at your own risk" Parker said with a smile.
Zoarial knew where to find the office, as he'd already had some rendevous with the previous CMO, Amhil Eddons.
<<E'Liana>>
"I was wondering if you could tell me more about your Klingon heritage, and whether your Klingon nature sometimes bubbles up as wel, I have some trouble supressing mine at the moment" Zoarial said, hoping that this conversation was going to be of good use to him.

Steven had only just mananged to sort out his belongings on the Starbase. He had been away from active duty for the better part of a year due to personal reasons, and now that he was officially allowed to return to active service, Steve has been assigned to serve on board the USS Raven. After so many years aboard the USS El Salvador, Steve was sure that he would be able to serve just as well if not better, on his new ship.
He sorted out his uniform and was just making himself presentable as his commbadge chirrped:
"Trek to Commander Smith. Report to my Ready Room at your earliest convenience."
He tapped his commbadge to reply. =/\= Smith here. On my way sir. Smith out. =/\=
He gave his uniform one last look over, and proceeded to the Ready Room. After mere minutes of traversing the corridors, and getting lost on no less than 5 occasions, Steve arrived at his destination, and pressed the chime.

"I hope your Marine Company will be an asset to this ship. I want you to work closely with the Tactical/Security department. We have a new CTSO coming in, a Lieutenant Freedman. As you and he are both new, I want you to work together to help get each other settled. Now, do you have any questions?" Rio watched him calmly and closely, arranging the words before she spoke them.
“Indeed. I would like permission to alter the length and time of our shifts to times offset to the rest of the crew?” The Captain did not inquire as to why.
"Yes, I can see to that. I want to meet your Marines. Have them assembled in Cargo bay One in half an hour for inspection. Dismissed."
“Thank you Sir.” Rio stood and straightened her back and shoulders, almost giving a stern salute. She resisted, however, and promptly exited the Captains ready room in silence. She transverse the bridge and marched into the turbolift, preparing to summon her troops. The Captain wished to see them assembled, and she hadn’t even met them yet!
She leaned back against the wall, and tapped her fingers to a cheerful tune, revisiting the words of Commander Trek. She was impressed with the accommodations provided for her small number of troops, having not expected as much. The holodeck of course was her main priority: it was a magnificent resource of combat situations, and how she herself had been trained for battle. She only hoped her band of men could live up to the ships expectations.
When the lift rumbled to a smooth stop the doors slid open onto a lonely corridor. Rio rapped her palm onto her comm. badge and executed a ship wide announcement. The troops that she had called to arms rallied into Cargo Bay one. Stood silently aside in the adjacent corridor, Rio watched as they meandered in, taking up stance in single file. Conway and Falconer rushed in last, spotting their commander at the final second.
“How did it go?” Falconer asked, a sarcastic smile beaming from his lips.
“I could’ve been worse.” She answered him plainly, and gestured towards the line of troops. They fell into place at the end of the row, their shoulders back and arms straight. The nine marines stood waiting in silence, eager to be addressed by their new chief. The only sound that crossed the room was the step of the Lieutenants combat boots, as she marched up and down the line. Each man and woman soldier was thoroughly inspected from top to toe, until Jackson’s eyes met their figurehead. Rio matched him shoulder to shoulder, looking him straight in his blazing eyes. He stood almost a head taller, undeterred by her intimate inspection.
“And you would be my trusted second.” She said through thickly folded arms. The man stood to upright attention, and saluted his senior officer.
“Staff Sergeant Jason Black. Sir.” He revealed in a deep and booming voice.
“Black…Ah, a Samuels’ prodigy…” she said with exaggerated enthusiasm, opening her arms wide in welcoming.
“Yes Sir, much like yourself.” He replied, holding his pose. Rio’s eyes darted back to him and stopped transfixed. Both her gaze and voice were emotionless.
“We shall see.”
Falconer and Conway exchanged looks, avoiding the gaze of their stern commander. Their recent contact with her while training on the base had lead them to learn a few things about her character, and the look she held currently was one of blazing hostility. It was well known to them that she had trained under Colonel Samuels, but the origin of their hatred was a continuing mystery.
“Now, it probably wont come as a shock to you that I run a tight, ship, so to speak. Our number is few, therefore we must be the best.” Rio said, addressing the group now as a whole. “I expect great things from you, eventually, and training will be tough. You are all here because you have ability and potential beyond that of your opponents. I expect you to remain active, alert and courageous in service, to protect and serve your fellow crewmembers.”
“Training will begin tomorrow morning, at 0800 hours. Physical fitness must be kept at a peak; I expect the gym to have good use. Holodeck scenarios will be our focal point, abated by progressional skills sessions. When our final goal is reached, we will be among the elite teams of the Starfleet Marines. Is that understood?”
“YES SIR.” Chorused from among the troops, none of them breaking their rigid stance. The Captain would be down in under five minutes, and Rio already felt proud of her team. Sergeant Black was likely to pose as a handful, but she hoped in time he would come to accept her. If anything, there was much of Colonel Samuels still residing in her mannerisms, something he would be able to come to respect. As she watched them in astute silence, Conway leaned over to his mesmerised comrade.
“Don’t worry, that was just her good luck speech. You’ll like her once you get to know her.”

E’Liana re-read the message from Nathan Harper and shook her head. She didn’t understand why he was leaving, as he had made good progress against the drugs in his system, but decided it was his decision to make.
She heard Zoarial knock on the door and put the PADD down.
"I was wondering if you could tell me more about your Klingon heritage, and whether your Klingon nature sometimes bubbles up as well, I have some trouble suppressing mine at the moment"
She looked up at him, puzzled, and asked him to take a seat. She studied him for a few moments more and then said “Why do you want to know? And why do you need to suppress it?”
<TAG Zoarial>
“Well, my father is Klingon and I spent a lot of my childhood on Qo’Nos surrounded by full Klingon children. I’ve only ever met one other half-Klingon girl but she wasn’t too fond of Qo’Nos I don’t think…” She paused for a minute, not sure of what to say. “My parents encouraged me to learn as much as possible about my two heritages and not to be shy about..um..expressing myself.” She smiled slightly. “For some reason, I guess I prefer my Klingon side as it’s what people notice about me and the prejudice I’ve faced from time to time has reaffirmed my personality I suppose.”
<TAG Zoarial>
“I don’t know why you’d want to suppress it…control it, okay but suppressing a part of your nature is dangerous, and I don’t just mean that in a medical sense. Whenever I try to do that, it just builds up inside me and it gets worse - like when I attacked a superior officer during training…” She blushed a little here, and noticed with annoyance that her ridges were flushing too.

The door chime went off yet again. "Come in," Dan said, for the third time in the past half hour.
The door opened, and in stepped Commander Smith. "Commander 1st Class Steven Smith, reporting for duty as First Officer, sir," he said, standing at attention.
Dan smiled, and rose to greet his new First Officer. "Welcome aboard, Steven. Good to serve with you again, even though our roles are reversed now."
"Thank you, sir. Yes, I must admit, it is a bit interesting," Steven commented.
"Please, have a seat," he said, indicating the couch over at the side of the room. They both went over and sat down. "I'm glad to have you aboard. Due to the losses of Captains Weill and Dixon within a short time, this ship's been needing for strong leadership. I haven't been in Command for many years, so I'll be looking to you for support. This is a good crew, and a good ship. Let's give them the best we can."
"Yes sir. I will certainly do my best," Steven said.
"Glad to hear it," Dan said smiling. "I've recieved our orders from Starfleet on our new mission. Apparently some odd electromagnetic field around a planet has been causing trouble for ships that visit it. We've been asked to investigate. I want a briefing of the Senior Staff in one hour. See to it."
<Steven>
"Good," Dan stood, and Steven did likewise a moment later. "Once again, welcome aboard, Commander. I know you'll make a fine addition to this crew. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go inspect our new Marines."
<Tag Steven>
Dan headed for Cargo bay one, and attempted to drop the usually cheery attitude. He wanted to appear stern for the Marines, but not harsh. He placed himself in the right mind-set as he walked.
A few minutes later, he walked into Cargo bay one. There they all were, lined up and ready for inspection. He stepped in, and the door closed. After looking at them a moment, he boomed, "Alright, even drop and give me twenty!"
Immediately, all 10 Marines dropped to the ground, even Lieutenant Jackson. The higher ranked Marines did them a bit faster than the lesser, but that was to be expected. After they were done, he had them stand.
"Very good. I wasn't entirely expecting you to actually do that, but I felt like ordering it anyway," he said, and smiled. "I am Captain Trek, Acting Commanding Officer of the Raven. I'd like to welcome you all aboard. The Raven's been put up against some tough enemies lately, which is why I requested a Marine platoon be assigned here. I expect the best from you. You should know that I come from a very Militaristic species. I am a skilled combat soldier. I expect your peak performance when you are called upon. I will be using you particularly as the Special Ops unit on board. When there is a particularly dangerous Security situation, or we are faced with ground combat, I will call upon you. Lieutenant Jackson has assured me that you will be ready for that. Pay strict adherence to her orders, or else it won't be too pleasant for you."
He walked over to Lieutenant Jackson. "Well done on short notice, Lieutenant. They pass."

Repairs on the Raven were going slower than McLean had expected. It appeared the entire negation system had been rerouted from its normal channels to accept the brain, one would simply think to just plug the channels back into their previous locations but what happened back at the Starbase was the engineers tore out the old navigation computer and replaced it with the brain. This made navigation 100% manual at this point, no doubt Commander Zoarial was having a blast screaming through the starts in total control of the ship.
McLean had informed Commander Joktel of the situation and Joktel contacted Commander Trek, requesting quick stop by Bellicose for the proper replacement computer. McLean again found himself rummaging through the vast containers of spare parts in Cargo Bay 2 when he heard a voice echoing through out the Cargo Bay 1, not that it was any of his business but McLean did not find what he was looking for so he decided to take a quick peak through the doors spotting the new Marine platoon.
Commander Trek paced back and forth informing them of who he was and what the mission of these new Marines was going to be. McLean took a keen interest in the new Marine, even though Engineering was his primary job ships security was his second, it comes with wearing the yellow shirt, McLean said once to himself. Moments after finishing his speech Commander Trek left Cargo Bay 1 leaving the Marines to continue going about this business.
“McLean to Commander Joktel.” McLean taping his COM badge.
“Go ahead Lieutenant.” Joktel replied.
“I cannot seem to find the spare Nav. Computer.” McLean confessed.
“Alright, get back here and unhook the secondary computer core from engineering. Joktel out.”
Damn, McLean thought, it had taken him almost an hour to set up the computer core in engineering. With almost everything dealing with computer systems now and days it seemed everything took longer to unhook than to hook up in the first place.

After a long silence, E'Liana said: “Why do you want to know? And why do you need to suppress it?”
"Well..." Zoarial began, "I think that I would hinder the crew in their work, or even be a hazard to them. I think that my Klingon nature was a bit subdued when I was with my parents, they didn't really like all the violence and the likes after they lost their real son to starfleet. I was raised on Qo'nos so I did grow up with other Klingon males, but it just wasn't the same, when they had a spar-fight with eachother while I was burried in my books... My parents wanted me to study hard. Non-biological parents that is, I'm not quite sure whether I ever knew my biological parents, but I prefer not to talk about that. What about your childhood with other halfbloods?"
Zoarial saw that E'Liana didn't like that word, so he quickly added, "Excuse me for my language, but I don't know a better word for it..."
“Well, my father is Klingon and I spent a lot of my childhood on Qo’Nos surrounded by full Klingon children. I’ve only ever met one other half-Klingon girl but she wasn’t too fond of Qo’Nos I don’t think…” She was silent, and continued after hesitating for a small moment.
Zoarial laughed. "I know what you mean, people tend to be very prejudiced toward the likes of us. While everyone saw me as a violent type, I was actually quite te opposite, untill my parents..." At this point, Zoarial hesitated for himself he didn't want to burden E'Liana with unnecesary facts, "Strongly encouraged me to stay at home in stead of joining starfleet. I've been able to suppress my Klingon nature and be as nice and benevolent as I wanted people to see me, but I guess that some things started to change."
"I don’t know why you’d want to suppress it…" E'Liana replied, apparently not liking Zoarial's way of coping with his heritage. "Control it, okay but suppressing a part of your nature is dangerous, and I don’t just mean that in a medical sense. Whenever I try to do that, it just builds up inside me and it gets worse - like when I attacked a superior officer during training…"
And then she started to blush, something that Zoarial had never seen a Klingon do, although E'Liana was only a half Klingon of course. It still looked weird to Zoarial but on the other side also a confirmation that Klingons could be sensitive too.
"So the only occasion that you lost control over yourself is when you attacked that officer? Do you also have other occasions that you kind of, felt your Klingon roots? That you felt that you should leave a patient to his fate when he was lying on that table?" Zoarial felt a second later that this was a too personal approach as E'Liana gave him a well placed hit across the cheek.
<<E'Liana>>
"So... in other words you just said that you wouldn't let your work be interfered by your personal issues, am I right?" Zoarial asked, because he wasn't quite sure whether he did get it right. He was still too surprised by being hit by a junior female officer, although he did understand why she had done it.
E'Liana nodded slightly, and Zoarial continued. "Well, I feel the same way... And I risk the lives of the complete crew if I don't do my work properly. I don't say that I can't handle that responsibility, but I don't want everyone to be in danger because of something that is bound to happen..."

(OOC: We were waiting for Lt McLean to reach Full Lt before promoting him in-simm to CEO. Since he has, here we go!)
As Dan was headed back to the Bridge after inspecting the Marines, the comm system went off. "Bridge to Captain Trek. Sir, Captain Dixon is hailing you sir."
Alex?? That was a surprise. "Acknowledged. Route it to my Ready Room, and I'll be there as quick as I can."
A few minutes later, he was once again face to face with his recently-former CO. "Alex! Didn't expect to hear from you any time soon."
"Hello again, Commander. Or should I say Captain. How're you settling into the big chair?" Alex asked.
"Getting used to being in Command again. I've had a Marine Platoon added to our compliment, given how much trouble tends to find us," Dan noted, chuckling.
Alex nodded. "Good idea. The reason I'm calling is that I'm organizing my staff on the Brain Project. And I need a Chief Engineer. I want Commander Joktel for the role. He knows more about the thing than anyone else that's qualified enough."
"I'll speak to him about it. I doubt he'll say no," Dan said.
"Yes, I agree. Dixon out." The comm channel closed.
Dan tapped his commbage. "Trek to Joktel. Please report to my Ready Room as soon as possible."
"On my way, Captain," he said.
A few minutes later, the chime went off. "Come in," Dan said.
Joktel stepped in, and looked around a bit. He then turned his attention. "Sorry, just a bit unusual seeing you in this Office given how recently you were Chief Engineer. You wanted to see me?"
"Yes I did. I just got done talking to Captain Dixon. You're being offered a promotion to Chief Engineer of the Brain project."
Joktel was shocked for a few moments. "Me? Wow. Of course I accept. But who would replace me as CEO?"
"I believe Paria is ready to fill the role," Dan noted.
"Well actually," Joktel replied, "I think that Lieutenant McLean would be better suited for the role. He did a fine job during his training mission."
"I agree," Dan said, and tapped his commbadge. "Trek to Lieutenant McLean. Please report to my Ready Room."
<McLean>
A few minutes later, McLean was admitted into the room. "Lieutenant," Dan began as he entered. "Commander Joktel is being promoted and will be leaving us. I'd like to promote to Chief Engineer and the rank of Lieutenant."

McLean found himself back in Engineering pulling the plug on the now useless secondary computer core. It was a long tedious process of rerouting ships power back to its normal channels, restoring the pulled systems back through the firewall to their previous locations in the main computer core. Joktel had been helping McLean part way through the process until he was call to the bridge by Commander Trek.
It was not long before McLean got a call from Commander Trek as well, "Trek to Lieutenant McLean. Please report to my Ready Room."
“On my way sir.” McLean said putting down several feet of optical cabling, “Crewman, could you do me a favor and put all this stuff except the small computer processor module back in storage.”
“Sure thing sir.” Replied the crewman.
It had only been a couple of hours since McLean had been promoted back to Lieutenant J.G., the rank he was when he left Starfleet the first time. He finally felt he was back on the right track with his life and soon he would request that his wife Stephanie and his two children come aboard. He did not know how Stephanie would feel about living aboard a starship again, but he hoped she could make some sacrifices for the good of the family.
Stepping off the turbo lift onto the bridge McLean looked around as mostly junior officers were running the show at the moment. McLean did spot the new First Officer sitting in the Captain’s chair; normally McLean would have introduced himself but Commander Trek was waiting for him.
McLean hit the door chime and waited a few seconds, hearing the words ‘enter’ from the other side of the door McLean stepped into the Captain’s ready room.
“You wanted to see me Captain?” McLean said standing in between the two chairs in front of Commander Trek’s desk.
“Have a seat Lieutenant.” Commander Trek said motioning to the empty chairs.
“Thank you sir.” McLean replied sitting down.
"Lieutenant," Dan began, "Commander Joktel is being promoted and will be leaving us. I'd like to promote to Chief Engineer and the rank of Lieutenant."
McLean almost hit the floor, two promotions in one day, I must have done something right in a past life, McLean thought to himself.
“I would love to accept, but if Commander Joktel is leaving wouldn’t that place Lt. Paria next in line to be the Chief Engineer?” McLean asked.
“Yes it does, but I want you to be the this ships Chief Engineer.”
“Yes sir, I am your man.” McLean said with a rather large smile on his face.
“Good, don’t worry about Lt. Paria I will talk to her,” Commander Trek said standing up and extending his hand out to McLean, “Congratulations ‘Chief ’.”
McLean stood up and shook Commander Trek’s hand, “Thank you sir.”
McLean started to walk out of the ready room when Commander Trek stopped him, “Lieutenant, make sure you send up a duty roster by 1900.”
“Of course sir.” McLean said before walking out of the ready room. Stepping back out onto the bridge McLean felt ten feet tall, and he could not hide his big smile. ’Chief’, I could get used to that, McLean thought to himself getting onto the turbo lift.

See to it."
Steve nodded. "Yes sir." He replied. "I'll send a communique to all the relevant staff to come to the Briefing Room, once I have found my quarters!" He added with a slight smile.
"Good," Dan stood, and Steven did likewise a moment later. "Once again, welcome aboard, Commander. I know you'll make a fine addition to this crew. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go inspect our new Marines."
"Of course sir." Steve answered. He stood up and left the Captain's ready room.
Upon entering the corridor, Steve located a wall panel, and located where his quarters were, and began to make his way there, complete with his bags. This time he didnt get lost!
Once through the door to his quarters, Steve left his bags lying around and immediately set out to inform the staff of the briefing. He went to his data terminal and proceeded to write a short message:
'To all Senior Staff of the USS Raven. There will be a staff briefing held in the briefing room in 50 minutes. I expect you all to be there on time. Signed, Commander Smith.'
Steve then went to move his bags out of the way of the door....he didnt want to cause any accidents on his first day. He looked at his bed, and decided to take a quick lie down before the briefing was due to start......his belongings could wait until later!

"I may be Klingon, but I AM a doctor...I'm also a Starfleet Doctor. That, and I'm not stupid." She said. "People have different beliefs, but it is my job to ensure the health and safety of the people on this ship...speaking of which.." She rose from her chair, ignoring the glare Zoarial was giving her and picked up a regenerator and grabbed him to heal the minor bruise. "Wouldn't want people to know you'd got into a fight with a half blood now, would we?"
Ignoring her last comment, he replied "So... in other words you just said that you wouldn't let your work be interfered by your personal issues, am I right?"
E'Liana nodded slightly and sat back down, and Zoarial continued. "Well, I feel the same way... And I risk the lives of the complete crew if I don't do my work properly. I don't say that I can't handle that responsibility, but I don't want everyone to be in danger because of something that is bound to happen..."
"What do you mean 'bound to happen'? I don't understand..."
<TAG Zoarial>
She was just about to reply when she noticed a message on her screen:
'To all Senior Staff of the USS Raven. There will be a staff briefing held in the briefing room in 50 minutes. I expect you all to be there on time. Signed, Commander Smith.'
She checked the time the message was sent. "There's a senior staff meeting...I think we should go now, otherwise we'll be late..."
<TAG Zoarial>
Just as they went into the briefing room, they met their new Captain. "ra'wl' HoD" She nodded, quickly making her way to a seat...she thought she heard Zoarial sniggering behind her.

"What do you mean 'bound to happen'? I don't understand..." E'Liana said, and Zoarial started to explain what he meant.
"ReH 'eb tu'lu'... At the moment this feeling is building up inside me, and I have no way to vent it. This way it keeps increasing, untill I reach my boiling point, at which I explode. But I will not let that happen if there is a chance that this will happen in an inconvenient moment. So I have to find a way to express myself and postpone or even eliminate this explosion." Zoarial took a pause at this point, and noticed that E'Liana was going to say something. But suddenly a message popped up on her screen, which she summarized out loud.
"There's a senior staff meeting...I think we should go now, otherwise we'll be late..."
"Do'Ha', I enjoyed this conversation. ms BeTor. Let us hurry, if you are correct we have only two minutes to spare." Zoarial replied.
When both Klingons entered the briefing room E'Liana nodded to Dan. "ra'wl' HoD" E'Liana said to the new acting captain, forcing Zoarial to snigger under his breath. He walked to a seat next to the CMO, but saw a couple of new faces in the room... One seemed to be the inheritor of the position of CEO, Zoarial knew that this position meant that he would be in a lot of contact with him. So he decided to let him know that he noticed him, just to be polite.
Zoarial nodded approvingly in Scott´s direction, but decided not to meet with him yet for three reasons. The first and most practical was that Scott´s seat was on the other side of the table, the second was that the meeting was due to begin, but the third and most important was that another new officer caught the eye of Zoarial, a female marine.
He knew that there would be a marine squad present aboard during this mission, but he didn´t expect a fragile female to be in charge of it. In some way he admired this young women, who seemed to have no idea of what was ahead.
Zoarial walked toward her and offered her his hand.
"Hello Lieutenant, I am Commander Zoarial, in charge of crashing this ship into unknown fortified objects." He said, He decided that he would start of with a little joke to break the ice, since the marine officer was looking rather stern.

“Dammit why wont you work!!” The marine officer yelled as she kicked the wall underneath the holodeck computer. The screen was flashing at an ungodly rate and a high pitched squeal was being emitted from the surrounding machinery. Her physical attack did little to quell the noise, so she placed her hands over her ears while she tried to think. She could just pull out a phaser and be done with it, but she wasn’t sure the engineers would appreciate it. Outside in the corridor, passers by were starting to take an interest in the sound, and several peered in to see the strange young woman swearing at the computer.
“ARGH.” Rio cursed, and gave the machine a final thump. The noise stammered and dropped a few octaves, but at least now it was quieter. Rio looked around sheepishly, before sidestepping into the corridor outside. She pressed a key that was mounted on the wall and the holodeck doors closed behind her. She leaned closely towards the door, and was satisfied that the error was for now contained. She walked off with a brisk step, molding her face into a casual expression; and to which she hoped would avoid people making the connection between her and the holodeck malfunction.
“Mmmm Chocolate milk…” The woman drooled, and reached out to grab the last glass. The others queuing alongside her in the mess hall shot her several strange looks. Rio shrugged off their unfriendliness, and settled into strawberry cheesecake. The tables around her filled gradually and as usual nobody elected to join her. The woman by now had grown used to this behavior, and didn’t let their actions chide her. Sulkily she spooned up the last mouthful of cake, remembering the problem she had left in her wake. As her lips closed around the spoon she was already up on her feet, the glass of milk clasped in her hand.
She headed down towards the turbolift, drinking and walking at the same time. The feat was not as easy as she had hoped, and several drops escaped her lips. Smoothing them off her chin with the back of her hand, Rio saw the turbolift doors open. More interested in her drink than anything else she walked headlong into something solid, splashing the liquid over them both.
“Ah, Jeez look what you –” She began fiercely, before realizing it was another officer she was talking to. The young man looked down at his shirt, which was almost soaked through with sticky substance. Rio quickly took in his rank, and bit her tongue before considering an apology. The looked down and pulled at his uniform half-heartedly, and to her surprise was breaking into a smile. Relaxing a little Rio looked sadly at her glass, which was well under a quarter empty.
“And that was the last one.” She moaned longingly, holding up the glass as if it would prove her point. The man in a now yellow and brown tunic nodded sympathetically.
“That’s a shame. I know how addictive they are...” And a teasing smile bedazzled his lips. Rio started to mimic the expression, but thought better of it, and instead lowered the glass to her side.
The man waited through the small pause. “I wouldn’t have put a hard nosed marine down as a chocolate milk fan…” the slightly bemused expression on his face made it seem almost like a question. Rio shrugged, and this time smiled.
“I can’t help it, this stuff is amazing…” She admitted, stepping out of the way of the ‘lift. Carefully she checked the corridor for eavesdroppers, before leaning in close to the man and whispering; “The guys in the mess think I’m a bit mad, its all I ever go in there for.”
The man gave a slight snigger, unsure of whether she had said that in jest. Aware that the silence between them was growing greatly uneasy, Rio decided to put a stop to it.
“Well, I have to be going. I got into the smallest of arguments with the holodeck.” She mentioned, making to step towards the lift. The man however had caught her gaze.
“Ah, I wondered who had been messing about with it. If you want I could give you a hand.” He offered. A line grew between Rio’s brows, convolving into a suspicious frown. She turned her head slightly to the side, wary that he might hide some guarded agenda. The man held out his hand in greeting, and Rio took it thoroughly puzzled.
“Lt Scott McLean, Chief Engineer.” He introduced himself, shaking her hand hard in return. Rio withdrew her own arm, her suspicions satisfied at least for the moment. The two stepped into the turbolift, and finished the introductions as they headed for the holodeck.
“There, that should be it.” McLean smiled triumphantly as the abrasive noise came to an end. Rio breathed a sigh of relief, although her head would probably be ringing for days. Scott checked the time quickly, and his smile suddenly disappeared.
“Ah I’m going to be late for the briefing.” He complained, looking unsurely at the blonde marine.
“What briefing?” she asked in a nonchalant tone.
“The one that starts in two minutes.” He told her ominously. Rio glanced down at her uniform, pressing her hands over the brown stain, before recognizing his similar predicament. Simultaneously the pair shrugged, and hastily made their way towards the turbolift. When they arrived in the already full briefing room, the pair parted to opposite sides. Rio stood and folded her arms, swinging a hand up to support on her shoulder. She watched as the final crewmembers entered the room, and noticed a couple of them were Klingon in origin. Letting no reaction show through her sallow features, she watched as the male approached her position.
"Hello Lieutenant, I am Commander Zoarial, in charge of crashing this ship into unknown fortified objects." He said as he offered his hand. She had to admit she had not been expecting that sentence, and begrudgingly accepted his hand. She adjusted her eyes to meet with his, which were at a height at least a foot above her own. Standing before her shoulders matched, he was, for want of a better word, enormous. His superior height and build simply dwarfed her own beside him, as he looked down on her with a questioning expression.
Rio wondered if he was trying to intimidate her, he certainly was rather scary-looking, although so had been all the others Klingons she had encountered. His introduction had seemed nothing other than polite, but rationality seemed lacking in the mind of the marine. Of course the Commander could not have known the memories that he stirred, yet they still haunted Rio in her minds eye. In the relative safety of the ships briefing room, she decided that altogether she had seen worse, like the Kargans of Hatiri Convention. Biting her tongue and stemming her fear, she tried to measure a neutral tone.
“Its, nice, to meet you.” She forced, lingering too long on the obvious pause.

McLean boarded the turbo lift, ordering it directly to engineering to finish his work. As he stepped off the turbo lift the ship seemed smaller than it had before, his perception had changed in the brief time between promotions. Suddenly everything seemed to be at his finger tips and he wanted to make sure this was one of the smoothest running ships in the fleet.
The engineers had done their jobs just as he had instructed them to do; McLean found the spare computer along with the optical cable sitting on a console directly in front where the standard navigational computer was housed. McLean had forgotten as ask Commander Trek if Joktel had informed him about the missing navigational computer, stopping for supplies would be a good idea since most of the resources were used up combating the brain just days before.
“Computer, open side panel 36 Alpha.”
The panel slide open to reveal bright blue blinking lights, optical cables freely hanging from the top of the panel and a gaping hole in the middle where a standard navigational computer used to reside. McLean had taken it upon himself just in case Joktel had not informed Commander Trek of the problem to reprogram the spare computer they had to be used as a make shift navigational computer that worked side by side with astrometrics.
The install took only a few minutes but the real test of whether it would work or not came when the pilot took the ship on a test drive. This was the scary part since the ship would have to be a yellow alert with all available power thrown into long range sensors to help warn them if they were to fly into something that could cause them harm.
Satisfied with his work McLean headed back to main engineering, where the first thing that popped out at him was a flashing maintenance alarm coming from one of the holodecks. McLean exhausted loudly as he was starting to learn the hard way that a Chief Engineer’s job is never done. With the staff meeting starting in less than ten minutes McLean looked around for spare engineers to check out the problem but spotted no one that could be spared.
McLean dashed off toward the nearest turbo lift, as he rounded a corner McLean slammed headlong into an unfamiliar person, a female Starfleet Marine, “Damn it…” McLean said looking down at his jacket.
“Ah, Jeez look what you –”
The two talked briefly, introducing themselves as the conversation progressed to the turbo lift and finally stopping at the holodeck. Walking into the holodeck McLean spotted the signs of physical abuse against the machinery but said nothing to the Marine as he still felt timid about his new position. It would not be long before he had the guts to start to confront the crew about their lack of respect for the equipment on this ship.
“There, that should do it.” McLean said as the constant buzzing sounds stopped.
The two quickly discussed the staff meeting that had already started, not a good impression to be making on his first day as the Chief Engineer. He had been surprised that Commander Trek had not hailed him requesting his immediate presence in the conference room. It did not take the two long to make it up to the conference room and to McLean surprise they were not as last as he had thought.
Taking a seat at the far end of the table next to the operations officer McLean waited for things to quiet down and for the meeting to start.

Dan consulted the ship's chronometer. When exactly hour had passed after giving the order for the Briefing, he sat up and began.
"I'm glad you're getting aquainted. Now, please take your seat, Commander," Dan said, motioning for Zoarial to take the seat on his right.
"First of all," Dan continued after Zoarial sat down. "Some introductions are in order. I'd like you all to meet our new First Officer, Commander 1st Class Steven Smith. And also, our new Senior Marine Officer, Third Lieutenant Rio Jackson. Along with her comes 10 Marines, and 3 Starfighters, so Lieutenant McLean, who was just promoted to Chief Engineer due to Commander Joktel's departure, you'll be in charge of their upkeep. We also have a new CTSO, Lieutenant Freedman," he said, gesturing to a younger man at the far end of the table
Glances were exchanged around the room. Zoarial, McLean and BeTor looked at the newcomers, and Smith, Jackson and Freedman looked around the table, as if learning faces.
"Anyway, we have our orders from Starfleet," Dan continued after a moment. He punched up some information, and a planet appeared as a 3D projection in the center of the conference table. "Our destination is a planet known as Hactil, a Class-H planet about 10 lightyears from here, populated by a warp-capable humanoid species known as the Hacti. No definite reports on their technology, however."
"Recently, Starfleet's recieved reports of a very strong electromagnetic field around the planet. We dont have full data on it, as it's disrupted the systems of surveying ships, and we've lost contact with them. We're being sent to investigate."
"Do we know if this field is a natural occurence?" Lt. Collaan, the Chief Science Officer, asked.
"That's one of the things we're going to find out," Dan responded. He knew Collaan would be intrigued, as she was the Head of Planetary Sciences before being promoted to CScO.
"We don't know what to expect, but we have to be prepared," Dan continued. "McLean, I want you to start preparing our systems to withstand strong EM emissions, since we don't have reports on how large or strong this field is. Arro, work with McLean, particularly on ways to redirect power to different systems to avoid damage. Doctor BeTor, we may possibly encounter health problems as a result of the field, particularly if we find downed ships. Take whatever precautions and preparations are necessary to protect the crew."
He then turned to Jackson. "Our Marines will be serving as a Special Ops unit of our security force. They will be using the holodeck as part of their training, so they are being given priority access to it, overruling any recreational allotment. Commander Smith, see to the Marines' accomodations."
He looked around the table at his Senior Staff. "Any questions? If not, dismissed."

McLean listened to the briefing with growing curiosity. Finding a way to defend the ship against any EMP pulse would prove to be difficult with out a sample of the frequency they would be attempting to reflect.
“Captain,” McLean started, “Do you know off hand if we have any spare probes? I ask before I would suggest we get with in range to launch a probe, from there I would be able to better alter the shields to withstand the EMP’s damage.”

"Spare probes, Lieutenant?" Dan asked, puzzled. "Any probe not in use is technically a spare probe. And given that we're sitting in Spacedock, all probes are currently spares," he said, chuckling. "Anyway, that's an excellent idea. However, an EMP would suggest something artificial. We don't know that it is yet. But either way, please go ahead."
Dan looked around the table. "Any more questions? Alright then. Mr. Zoarial, please set course for these coordinates," he said, handing over a PADD to the Helmsman. "Dismissed."
The Senior Staff filed out of the Briefing Room. McLean and BeTor headed off the Bridge, whilst the others took their stations on the Bridge. Dan sat in the CO's chair, with Smith on his right.
"Do you actually think this is a natural phenomenon, Captain?" Smith asked as they prepared to leave Spacedock.
"I don't know, Commander," Dan replied. "Logic says it's a possibility, but my instincts says it's not. We shall see."
"All stations report ready, sir," Freedman reported from Ops.
"Very well," Dan responded. "Helm, take us out, one-quarter impulse, then take us to Warp 8 when we clear the Starbase perimeter."

Zoarial prepared everything for the departure. He didn't have any information yet about whether or not he would be able to use the automated flight systems, but that was something he did like, it meant that there was something to do instead of letting the computer do all the work. Just to be on the safe side, Zoarial contacted engineering to see what part of the navigation system was already online.
"This is commander Zoarial to engineering, we are about to leave the spacedock. I would like to know whether the navigational computer is already of much use." Zoarial informed, while he was curious about who would reply.
<<Scott>>
"Ok thank you very much for the information, I would like to recieve any additional information on the matter as soon as possible." Zoarial replied, and he sat down in his seat.
When all tubes hoses and corridors were disconnected, Zoarial wanted to take the Raven out of it's dock, but a message came through.
=^= Starbase Assailant to the USS Raven, we have recently assigned an Acting Ensign to your ship, we ask you not to leave the dock untill your new officer has boarded your vessel, thank you very much, Starbase Assailant out =^=
Zoarial carefully waited for a confirmation of the presence of this new officer, and when he finally got it, he began with the departure sequence for the second time.
Zoarial didn't want to use the automated system yet since there was no room for error in this crowded area. With a tiny smile on his face Zoarial thought about Dans order to fly at a quarter impulse. At that speed even the most experienced pilot couldn't prevent to punch a hole in the dock's wall, but on top of that it was also stated in the spacedock regulations that vessels were only allowed to use thrusters while still in the flightpatterns of the starbase.
Within a couple of minutes time the Raven had cleared the boundaries of the dock, and Zoarial entered the coordinations that he had recieved from his captain.
"Commander Zoarial asking permission to enter warp speed." Zoarial said.
<<Dan>>
"Well sir, I recieved a message from mr McLean stating that when we would enter warpspeed, it would be the first test for the new navigational computer, which would mean that we would have to go into yellow alert." Zoarial explained.
<<Dan>>
After getting permission, Zoarial started up the warpengines. The lights on the bridge dimmed a little, and the voice of the computer was heard throughout the ship, declaring the yellow alert status.
Slowly the speed of the Raven increased to Warp 8, and to Zoarial it looked like everything was working perfectly.
"If we are able to maintain this speed, we will reach our destination in four days captain." Zoarial said, and waited for an update from the engineering department.

The staff meeting ended much quicker than McLean had expected. As he looked around the conference room he felt a bit out of place. He himself was now a veteran officer on the USS Raven, but he was as much of a new comer to the senior staff as the new officers were. Making his way onto the bridge McLean took it upon himself to check Operations station for any new supplies transferred from Starbase Assailant to the USS Raven and found nothing listed for a new Navigational computer, McLean frowned before making his way down to engineering.
It took McLean a few minutes to arrive to his small office in main engineering. Sitting down at his work desk McLean flicked on the small communication console in front of him and opened a channel with the Starbase’s engineering and supplies department.
A familiar face was splashed onto the monitor sending a smile to McLean face, “David, it’s good to see you again.”
“Scott,” David said nodding his head, “What can I do for you?”
“There has been some confusion on the ship and I asked another engineer to submit a request for a new Nav. Computer, did you get it?” McLean asked.
“Let me take a look,” David said looking to a small PADD, “I do not show any TN-95 requests for your ship.”
“I need that Nav. Computer before we leave, can you send me one and I can send you the paper work a bit later?”
David breathed heavily as he weighted the potential outcome of the favor, “I will do you one better Scott, I will send you out part you need and I will take care of the paper work for Captain Dempsey from the Corp of Engineers doesn’t get on my butt for this.”
“Thanks David, I owe you one.” McLean said with a smile.
“More than one,” David fired back with a smile, “O’Conner out.”
The screen flashed off and McLean leaned back in his chair waiting for the new computer as he requested. He was surprised when it arrived mere moments from the time he asked for it. The computer was beamed directly into his officer and McLean smiled at the note that was attached to the computer, it read, BIG TIME.
McLean rushed quickly to install the proper computer, not that he wished to remove his handy work as quickly as possible, but space travel could be a dangerous thing and McLean felt there was no need at this time to resort to what would be considered an emergency fix.
"This is commander Zoarial to engineering, we are about to leave the spacedock. I would like to know whether the navigational computer is already of much use." Zoarial informed, while he was curious about who would reply
McLean tapped his Com. Badge and quickly replied, “Everything is good to go Commander.”
"Ok thank you very much for the information, I would like to recieve any additional information on the matter as soon as possible." Zoarial replied, and he sat down in his seat.
“Of course sir, McLean out.”
Knowing the ship was to leave spacedock in a matter of minutes McLean rushed to his station to check all vital systems for departure. As he worked he could see the enormous pressure the Chief Engineer always has on his shoulders. McLean trusted his fellow engineers but deep down inside he had always felt certain things should be taken care of himself.
“Thrusters look good, impulse engines looking good and,” McLean said looking up at the Warp Core, “The Warp Core looks good.”
After a few moments the Raven had jumped to warp speed sending the Intrepid class starship traveling faster than the speed of light. The warp core hummed it typical hum as it maintained warp speeds. Looking through his station console McLean quickly doubled checked the new Navigational computer, after a few minutes of checks he reported to Commander Zoarial.
“Engineering to the bridge, the new Nav. Computer is running perfectly, but I want you to run a diagnostic on your end to see if you can find any bugs.”
