The Captain, was going through what seemed to be his umpteenth attempt at drafting a report for Admiral Clark on Bellicose, when the door chime activated .. "Come .." Mc said, distracted. Commander Jared entered. Looking, if anything, frustrated .. Something had obviously happened he wasn't happy with .. "Reman ?" "We have a missing man down at Isis's quarters. Isis herself is still there." Carl tapped his Comms badge ... =^= Torek to Isis =^= =^= Isis =^= came the curt reply. =^= Lieutenant .. The Security Officer assigned to your .. Quarters .. Seems to be missing .. Have you had any contact with him ? =^= =^= No Commander I haven't .. Though I would like to know how long my 'confinement' to quarters is going to last .. ! =^= =^= The Admiral or myself will be talking to you soon Lieutenant .. I know the situation is less than 'ideal' .. Be patient Janine .. Torek out =^= Carl hoped it would be enough to prevent her taking things into her own hands .. Carl closed the Comm as Mc spoke to the Chief of Security ... "Get a search organized .. Forget internal sensors .. If there are more than one of those boxes he's not going to be picked up." "Start at Isis' quarters and work out .. Every storage area .. empty quarters .. Jefferies tubes .. Keep your staff in twos OK." added the Exec' "Aye Sir." said Reman, leaving to set up the search .. As they were left alone, Carl voiced a concern ... "If we find him dead ........" "I know Carl .. I know ........" replied the Captain. Both were trying not to think of the consequences of both a Romulan and Federation murder on board the Raven ! .......... < tag : Mc7 / All > OOC : Lets keep the momentum going now everyone ...

Marko was standing at his station hurriedly preparing his report on ship resources for Commander Torek. He had recently been informed that the plasma torch was in the process of being recovered although there were some complications in retrieving it as some sort of device had created a sensor blind spot.
Marko had been spending his time trying to back trace the anomalous signatures on the door logs and sensor logs to find out who accessed them and try and recover the original data. He deduced that the logs had been altered from a remote terminal on Deck 2, near the Romulan delegation’s quarters. Having no idea where this remote terminal may be, it could be in a jefferies tube or an empty room. It may not even be there now he thought to himself. Marko decided to inform Commander Torek.
Marko tapped his comm. =^= Ramius to Commander Torek =^=
=^= Torek here, how is your report coming? =^= Was Torek’s reply
=^= Well sir, there have been some interesting developments. I have been following up on the anomalous log signatures I discovered earlier and have established that they were tampered with but by a remote terminal tied into the ships systems. =^=
=^= Yes Ensign, McLean discovered a device earlier could that have caused this? =^=
=^= I doubt it sir, the device needed to alter the logs would have to be a portable computer that acted like a remote station and allowed the user to change the logs. If I can locate the remote terminal I can backtrace the logs and review the actual data, as it will all be stored on the remote terminal.=^=
=^= Do you have any leads on where it may be? =^=
=^=It would have had to have been on deck 2, relatively close to the Romulan quarters and JC Isis’s quarters and tied into the main computer discreetly from there. I would recommend searching all empty rooms and Jefferies tubes on deck 2, then if the search turns up nothing we search the rooms in use on deck 2. Also Commander, whoever did this has an expert level of understanding of our ship’s systems.=^=
=^= Thank you for the report Ramius, that will be all =^=
=^= Excuse me sir, can I request that I personally search for the remote terminal on Deck 2. I should know what I am looking for. =^=
=^= Given the current situation I will allow you to search for the remote terminal but I am assigning an engineer and a security officer to your detail to allow you to expediate your search. Additionally, if the terminal is fused with the ships power you may require an engineer to safely remove it.=^=
=^= Thank you sir =^=
=^= Ensign Richards & Ensign Boyle will report to you on the Bridge then you can begin your search of deck 2. Good luck and report to me immediately if you find anything. Torek out =^=
Ramius awaited the Ensigns to report to him then the search for the remote terminal would begin…

Mc7 had enlisted the help of Carl for drafting the report back to Bellicose, but the two of them together were having just as much success as mc7 had achieved alone. After 25 minutes they were finally getting somewhere with a draft that explained the situation but made it sound manageable when the ready room's door chime sounded.
After the instruction for the person waiting on the other side to enter, the doors parted and Reman entered the room. He quickly told the two officers about the missing security guard from outside Isis' quarters, and Carl immediately got the CScO on the comm to check that she was ok, and also still where she should be. After confirming both were true, and issuing a little calming advice to her, Carl terminated the comm circuit. After being issued with the orders that would begin a systematic search of deck 2 Reman left to begin the task, which could normally be completed within seconds thanks to the ship's internal sensors, but until they were convinced there were no more devices like the one Scott had found then things would have to be done the old fashioned way.
Alone again in the ready room Carl spoke to words that both he and the Admiral were thinking.
If we find him dead ........
The only reply mc7 could muster was,
I know Carl .. I know ........
After the words between the two officers had been spoken, there was silence in the room.
An hour later the, the report to Bellicose just having been completed and sent, the two exited the ready room back to the Bridge to receive a status report. The report brought just as much good news as Jared's recent visit to the ready room however. The security details had not reported any sign of their missing colleague, nor had Marko or his team found any more devices as yet.
Thank heavens for small mercies, the Admiral thought to himself.
Carl, I think it's time you and I had a conversation with our Science Officer, don't you?
With a nod, Carl stood from his seat and followed mc7 to the turbolift, which would carry them to a conversation that neither of them wanted to have. During the short turbolift ride to deck 2, which housed not only Isis' quarters but also the crime scene where the former Romulan Commander was murdered, Carl and mc7 discussed how to approach their 'interrogation' of one of the newest members of the Raven's crew. Since there was no evidence to point to her involvement as yet, they decided that it would be best to take a soft, tactful approach, as opposed to going into 'with all guns blazing', as went an old Earth saying.
Arriving at the entrance to J.C.'s quarters, they nodded to the security guard, who pressed the door chime button for them. Seconds later, an agitated voice from within the room shouted at them to enter as the doors retreated to within the walls.
OCC: As Carl says, let's keep up the good work guys & gals!

Ensign Richards & Ensign Boyle reported to the Bridge moments later to assisted Marko in his search for the ‘remote terminal’ as Marko called it. They took the turbolift from the Bridge down to deck 2. They arrived at deck 2 and both Ensigns stared at Marko awaiting instruction.
“We will begin by searching the empty quarters and storage rooms” Marko instructed, he’d chosen to start with the rooms as he did not look forward to crawling through the Jefferies tubes.
“We will all stick together on this, for our own safety given the current situation we find ourselves in.”
“Yes sir” Echoed Richards & Boyle
After searching all the rooms on deck 2 and finding absolutely nothing, Marko knew he had no choice but to scurry into the Jefferies tubes. He was not looking forward to this, he had never enjoyed enclosed spaces but he would endure it.
“Right, into the Jefferies tubes we go” Marko spoke confidently to Richards & Boyle to avoid disclosing his distain for crawling around the tubes like a mouse.
“Sir is this entirely necessary?” Asked Ensign Richards
“I’m afraid so, we have to be meticulous in our search” Marko replied as he opened the hatch for the 3 of them to enter the Jefferies tubes.
Marko entered first and confidently clutching his tricorder in front of him to make him aware of any strange signals. Richards being a security officer withdrew his phaser, just in case Marko thought to himself. They had been in the Jefferies tube for around 5minutes scanning each panel as they went past when the tricorder began to bleep incessantly.
“I believe we’ve found something, Ensign Boyle can you remove this panel and find out what is underneath?”
“Of course, Sir” Boyle replied cautiously
Once the panel was removed they spotted it immediately. It was another square black device similar to the one found by McLean earlier, only this one had a cable running out of it which looked like it allowed it to interface with another device. Marko immediately struck his Comm badge.
=^= Ramius to Commander Torek =^=
=^= Torek here, what have you to report Ensign? Any luck with the search? =^= Replied Torek
=^= Its another device, Sir. It seems to be the same as the one McLean found earlier, but with one difference it seems to have a cable running from it which looks like it can be used to interface with another device. =^=
=^= Okay Marko, do not touch anything. I’ll notify Chief Engineer McLean and send him to your current location to remove the device. Just stay put until Commander McLean arrives. And good work Marko. Torek out. =^=
Marko relayed the message to his team and they exited the Jefferies tube and awaited Commander McLean’s arrival. Whilst ensuring all over exits to the Jefferies tube had been sealed.

“What is it?” McLean heard over his shoulder.
The Chief Engineer pulled his head slowly from the scope he was using and found Lt. Chet Benson standing behind him, speaking over his shoulder like a child at Christmas.
“That seems to be the million dollar question.” McLean replied as he pressed his eyes back up against the scanning scope.
“Million dollar question?” Benson replied clearly confused with McLean’s early Earth reference.
“Look,” McLean said pulling away from the scope again, this time upset by Benson’s presence, “I don’t know exactly what IT is, I just know what IT does. So unless the Warp Core is going to breach please, leave me be.”
“Yes sir, sorry sir.” Benson said as he scurried away.
McLean watched the skittish engineer hurry away and it was then that he knew that we would have to go apologies for his actions later. There wasn’t anything he could do right now, he had to figure out who made this device and what else it could do. Just as McLean stuck his face back into the scope his COM channel opened up.
“Commander McLean.” Jared said over the COM.
Taking a deep breath McLean replied, “Yes Commander?”
“Ensign Ramius has found another device, this time it’s hooked up to some sort of terminal-”
Before Jared could finish his sentence McLean interrupted, “I’m on my way.”
McLean rushed out of Engineering picking up a satchel bag of tools on his way out.
When McLean arrived on the scene there were more security personnel posted, all with Phasers on their hips and phaser rifles in their hands. They each nodded in acknowledgement of his position as he past by each guard.
“Where is it?” McLean asked spotting Jared.
“Follow Ensign Ramius.” Jared said pointing to the open Jeffries tube with a single head sticking out of it.
McLean hoped quickly into the tube and followed Ramius for a few meters until they came upon the device. It was the same basic device that McLean had found before, it was wired just as before into the ships systems but it also had an additional output that looked to be a second interface port.
Carefully, McLean picked up the black box and eyed the connection port. Immediately he knew it wasn’t Starfleet by design. All Starfleet data ports were constructed in such a manner that nearly everything could interface with another system.
“What do you think?” Ramius asked.
“I’m thinking this is Romulan technology, they are the best in the quadrant with stealth technology. But, if it is Romulan by design do we dare to have the Ambassadors look at what we have found?” McLean said as if talking out loud.
McLean sat for a second in deep thought. The idea of getting the Romulans to look at the device felt like a scary proposition to him. What if they were the murderers, what other devices could they have hidden on the ship, bombs? Are they trying to start a war?
“We need to talk to the Admiral.” McLean finally said breaking away from his thoughts.

Marko awaited patiently for Chief Engineer McLean to arrive at the Jefferies tube. Marko always felt nervous when he was waiting whether it be on a friend or before a big test. Finally, Marko thought to himself as Scott arrived. Marko knew it had only been a couple of minutes but it felt like hours. Marko led the Chief Engineer into the Jefferies tube and then directed him to the black box. “What do you think?” Asked Marko, knowing by the look on the Scott’s face that this was important and possibly decisive in the investigation. Scott paused for thought before answering “We need to talk to the Admiral.” “I agree Scott although I believe we should report this to Carl first he is heading up the investigation.” Marko duly tapped his COMM Badge, =^= Ramius to Torek =^= =^= Torek here =^= =^= Scott has removed the device and believes it to be of Romulan origin. This is a matter of urgency, and could have serious implications Commander. =^= =^= I will brief the Captain on this matter immediately, thanks for the update Marko =^= =^= Additionally, I believe we should have a Conference with the senior staff. With Scott presenting the evidence and its function as he has a grasp for the technology, then a discussion on how best to move forward with this in mind. =^= =^= Okay Marko, I will meet you along with the Captain in the Observation Lounge in 10 minutes time after the Captain has been apprised of the situation. =^= With that, Marko looked at Scott and said: “I guess we’re off to the Observation Lounge then.” Scott nodded. They had sealed the evidence away into a container and neither had touched it with their hands to avoid damaging any finger prints which may have been present. They handed the container to Reman and asked that he examine it then bring the device to the Observation Lounge for the conference on the next step in the investigation. This did not leave Reman with much time but he realised the urgency of the situation as Marko & Scott headed for the turbo lift. OOC: This is getting interesting...

McLean leaned up against the corridor wall, sweat dripping from his brow. The Raven’s Chief Engineer stood, deep in thought while Remand Jared and his security teams walked away with the container that help the small black device. Ramius happened to pick up on McLean’s grim attitude.
“What’s the matter Commander?” Ramius asked.
“I don’t think we should have removed that device.” McLean replied as he kept his eyes on the package as it left his site.
“Why?”
“Call it a hunch,” McLean said as he pushed himself off the wall and started to walk away, “But if I was to have placed that device there I might be coming back for it. So far this device seems more complex than the other one I found.”
“We have no way of telling how complex or simple either one of those devices are.”
“True,” McLean said, “But, this device had an extra data port on it, it had to been used to link up with something else, such as a PADD. Direct link with a PADD would prevent information from flowing wirelessly, leaving no chance that we could intercept such valuable data with our ships sensors.”
“But, why would that matter if this person had already masked the ships sensors with the device you found?”
“Good point.” McLean replied.
The two men walked around the corridor and headed for the nearest turbo lift. They had made arrangements to speak with Admiral Mc7 and Commander Torek. Ensign Ramius had insisted that they go to Torek before talking with Mc7 about it first, since he was heading up the investigation. McLean on the other hand didn’t know Torek that well and trusted the Admiral more.
”Unless they intended that we find that first device.” McLean said under his breath.
“What’s that?” Ramius asked.
“Nothing,” McLean fired back, “Lets just get up and talk with Commander Torek.”

As they made their way to J.C's quarters, the Captain and Executive Officer, were going through possible outcomes to the situation they found themselves in. Mc's Comm beeped suddenly ..
=^= Bridge to Captain =^=
Without breaking stride, the Captain tapped his comms badge and replied ..
=^= Captain =^=
=^= Sir .. Duty Operations Officer .. We have picked up a signal .. Some sort of transmission =^=
Mc frowned.
"The Forrestal maybe ?" Carl said.
=^= Where's the signal coming from ? =^= Mc asked.
=^= That's the thing Sir .. It originates from 'inside' the Raven .. I've double-checked it =^=
=^= Inside ! .. Can you locate the source ? =^=
=^= Already done Captain .. It originates in Sublieutenant Jaren's quarters .. It's the Romulans Sir =^=
Carl contacted security as Mc spoke to the Bridge ..
=^= I want Security to override the door system on Sublieutenant Jaren's quarters .. Do it quickly and quietly .. He must 'NOT' be allowed to use any sort of device in that room .. Once he's secure search his quarters .. Do not alert the other Romulans .. We're on our way ! =^=
=^= Where is the transmission aimed ? =^= Mc was asking the Bridge.
=^= I'm not sure at this point Sir .. We're still trying to narrow it down .. One thing's for sure though .. It's close by =^=
"Shields ?" asked Torek.
"NO ... It may alert whoever is out there that we know they're there." ...
=^= Opps .. I don't want anything else getting out .. Begin a passive scan of the area around the Raven .. See what you come up with .. Contact Commander Jared and Ensign Ramius .. Have them meet us at the Romulan quarters .. Out =^=
The thought that the Raven was being shadowed was almost a shock, but the thought that it could have been used to stage an assassination, was almost unthinkable .. but not .. It seemed .. Impossible ! ..........

As they made their way up to the Observation Lounge, the Raven’s Chief Engineer & Chief Operations Officer were discussing their respective reports to give to the Captain & the XO.
Marko had noticed that Scott had looked perplexed ever since they had removed the device. He wondered what was bothering the Commander, he had previously asked and Scott had said it was just a hunch but it seemed like more to Marko. Marko had never been one for tact so just came out and said it:
“Commander, are you okay? You have seemed distant every since we removed that device.”
“I’m fine Ensign, It is just that something doesn’t feel right about this…” Scott said
“Well Scott, I’ve always found it best to act on hunches. You should address your concerns to the Captain & the XO, if you’re feeling uneasy about this then perhaps we should re-think our approach to this investigation.” Marko replied, calling the Commander by his first name as if to spark off a friendship.
At that moment Marko received a COMM from the Duty Operations Officer. =^= Bridge to Ramius =^=
=^= Ensign Ramius here =^=
=^= Sir, Duty Operations Officer here, the Captain instructs you to go to the Romulan party’s quarters =^=
=^= What is this about? =^=
=^= Sir, we have picked up a signal - some sort of transmission originating from Sub lieutenant Jaren's quarters =^=
=^= I’m on my way, Ramius out! =^=
Quickly, Marko instructed the turbo lift to deck 2. “Deck 2” Marko barked.
“It seems you may have been right Scott, lets go back down to deck 2. It would seem there is another device in the romulan’s quarters, your expertise will be required.” The Chief Engineer gave an inquisitive look and then nodded.
OOC: Wooo I posted, sorry for the delay folks.

The last 24 hours had been a blur, while on temporary duty at the Marine headquarters Kang had gotten orders to proceed with all haste to the U.S.S. Raven and report in to the C.O. as Commander of the Marine detachment on board. Of course this should have been a rather simple 1,2,3 process but the usual red tape along with a foul up in administration plus the officer in Admin turned out to be a Fleeter with a stick up his butt for the Marines caused Kang to miss his scheduled shuttle hop out. Instead Kang had been forced to rely on his personality more or less, all 7’2 of it to secure a series of rides to the Raven, which had already left by the time he’d arrived at the starbase.
“Sir, we’re coming up on the U.S.S. Raven, Should I hail them, sir?” The pilot asked “No, don’t bother, just shoot out their engines and disable them, then contact them and tell them to prepare to be boarded, What do you think you idiot, of course hail them!” Kang snarled at the pilot while shaking his head in disgust, Ensigns, what a waste of flesh, Kang thought to himself. =/\= U.S.S. Raven this is Federation Shuttlecraft Hurley , I have a cargo delivery , one 2nd Lt. Kang Mek’tor, Marines…” Kang shooting up from his seat interrupted “CARGO, why you little … just shut up and let me handle this.. Look whoever this is I have orders to report to your C.O. and I’d appreciate it if you’d transport me off this idiots ship before Starfleet ends up missing an ensign, besides with the way this fool fly’s he’ll most likely end up taking out the shuttle bay in the process, in other words..GET ME THE HELL OUTTA HERE.”=/\= In the background the ensigns voice could be heard “Sir, your not authorized to be in the control cabin I Must insist..OWW…what was that fo..” the transmission suddenly cut off.
OOC: Hope this is alright OOC: Hey it's fine Kang .. Welcome Aboard .. Your arrival will be set about the same time as AE Ramius OK ..

You should address your concerns to the Captain & the XO, if you’re feeling uneasy about this then perhaps we should re-think our approach to this investigation.” Marko replied, calling the Commander by his first name as if to spark off a friendship.
McLean’s eyes darted over quickly to the new OPS officer, kid must have been reading the personnel files, McLean thought. He was just going to say something to Ramius to remind him of the customs and courtesies on board a starship when Ramius’ COM badge beeped.
The two junior officers talked back and forth on the COM channel and McLean listened in for any important subtle information that might slip through the cracks.
“It seems you may have been right Scott, lets go back down to deck 2. It would seem there is another device in the Romulans’ quarters, your expertise will be required.” The Chief Engineer gave an inquisitive look and then nodded.
There it was again, Scott, and it stung his hears every time he heard the new officer speak his name. The more McLean thought about it, the less he trusted the new officer. There had been a murder, and now a few security guards that had gone missing and have yet to be found. The ship could be looking for a mole and he could be standing right next to me, McLean thought.
McLean decided right then and there that he wouldn’t trust this new officer until he earned his trust. There was just too much at stake now for trust to just be given to anybody. The door to the turbo lift opened quickly and McLean gestured with his hand for Ramius to exit first. Ramius nodded a respectful nod and then proceeded off the turbo lift, McLean waited a few steps and then followed him off the turbo lift.
Turning the corner into the main corridor McLean now say several security personal standing outside the VIP quarters. Admiral Mc 7 of 9 and Commander Torek also stood there; by the looks on their faces when they noticed Ramius and McLean show up, they were waiting on them.

"WELL KEEP LOOKING" Kang yelled at one of the sergeants before stepping into the turbolift. "Bridge" he barked once inside, What a way to start off, searching for a killer that could be anyone, and come to think of it Kang wasn't really sure of who was killed. He'd been beamed aboard and almost immediately thrown into this mess, hell his own men didn't even know him, let alone the rest of the crew. Well he'd managed to get his men in gear and currently they were scouring the ship, although they didn't know they're new C.O. they knew enough to jump when he yelled. Snapping out of his thoughts Kang noticed the turbolift had stopped and the doors were opened revealing the bridge..and the entire bridge duty crew staring at him....

Jared recieved the call to go to the Romulan's room. Once there, it was explained about the transmission. Oh joy, here comes a diplomatic incident... He typed in his override code and the door opened. The startled Romulan stood up, but several phasers were pointed at him. Jared stepped foward unarmed. 'We have reason to suspect you in our investigations. This is Federation soil and whilst diplomatic immunity affords you some protection, it does not allow such under suspicion of direct and intentional misdeamenour. You do have the option to come quietly and not be restrained or face similar embarrassments.' 'Very well, I shall come quietly' he replied and as he moved from the table he turned off the device he was using. Jared noticed that, but they had no reason to suspect that he was doing anything other than writing in a diary, so shooting him could have had repercussions. Hopefully the item wouldn't be too hard to look into. As the security team led the Romulan away to the brig whilst others went to adapt it for more diplomatically correct accomodation, one of the men came up to Jared. 'The commander of the new Marines is throwing his weight around on the bridge. He might cause some friction with the Romulans' 'Why is he active?' Jared asked 'His men are helping look for more devices' 'That's not their job though. There are better uses for a small Marine force. Like not being a pain in the arse. Tell him to send some of his men to guard the brig and the rest to station at vital systems in case there are any attempts at sabotage. Then have the men they replace help the investigation.' It was likely that this new Marine would object to the use of his men, but damnit they were soldiers not policemen and were to be deployed where needed.

(OOC: a little incompleet char buildingness +2)
When Cal finished talking to the FO she lay down on the bed holding her head.
"What the......?"
As she fell backback in a state of abnormal unconsciousness, she dreamed of a time long forgottern.
As the girl put down her plate, the boy laughed.
"What?" she asked.
"You've got some cream on your lip."
The girl brushed her hand against her lip.
"It's on the other side now."
The girl brushed her hand again, this time the other way.
"Back where it started."
After about five more attempts the boy said,
"You aren’t going to get rid of it that way. Use this."
The girl took the paper napkin and wiped her face.
"Oh, hell!"
The ice-cream on the napkin mixed itself with the cream, leaving a light brown smear which now covered her bottom lip.
The boy turned his laugh into a cough as she looked at him.
The boy's expression changed into a look of amazement and joy.
"I have an idea", said he.
"What?"
"No. It won't work. You'll complain."
"What is it?" said the girl, as her lip went slightly numb. "Cold, cold." she muttered.
The boy drew closer, but only just noticeably.
"Oh, an 'idea'!"
They drew together, so close that the tips of their noses were touching each other's.
As she looked, the right eye of the boy changed colour......
(OOC: cant think of anything else to put, but it is to do with Romulans)

After chewing out the bridge duty crew for gawking at him Kang found himself back on the turbolift heading to the deck where the diplomatic quarters were, at least thats where the computer said he'd find them. Although his tirade toward the duty crew up on the bridge had been unnecessary he had to admit it felt good to release some of the frustration he'd been feeling, after all, he'd just arrived and found his command was spread throughout the ship searching for some assassin, wasn't that suppose to be the security departments job, which made him wonder what security was doing that would leave them so understaffed that they had to call his team in, well he'd find out soon enough. The turbolift stopped and Kang emerged, spotting what he assumed were both the Captain and the Raven's Exec. in front of one of the doors leading into someones quarters. As he approached he noticed a lot of security personnel combing through the various rooms as well as the corridor, ~well I guess that answers my question~ Kang thought to himself. Stopping in front of both the Captain and Exec Kang snapped to attention and barked "2nd Lieutenant Kang Mek'tor Marine Commander reporting Sir's" while throwing one of the best salutes he could muster, his deep commanding voice thundering off the walls of the corridor ~Great, I just yelled at the Captain and the Exec, way to go Kang~ he thought to himself as the echo of his voice faded down the corridor

With everyone ready in the corridor, the Security Chief got a silent 'go ahead' from the Captain to open the door .. It was then they heard the booming voice of the new Marine !
"Be QUIET !!!" Torek hissed, locking eyes with him, as he proceeded to snap out a salute that any parade ground Drill Sergeant would have been proud of ..
"Sir .. I think introductions should wait .. Jaren may well have heard that !" as the Captain and his XO glared at Mek'tor..
"Yes .. OK Commander." Mc said to Reman, "Whenever you are ready ..."
~~~~~~~~~~
With Jaren on his way to the Brig for questioning, the whole situation had now gone way past something the Federation could handle, without that is, involving the Romulan High Council .. As they left Jaren's quarters, one of Reman's staff approached ..
"Sir .. We have found our missing man .. His body was concealed in a Jefferies tube opposite Lieutenant Isis' quarters."
"You go Commander." Mc said to Carl, "We need to find out just 'who' is shadowing us .. I'll be up on the Bridge." then with a glance at Kang, "We will talk later Lieutenant." ....
Torek spoke to Mek'tor as the Captain left ..
"You may as well come with us .. Your men are on Deck five." then raised his finger quickly, as Kang seemed about to 'bark' a reply, "Lieutenant .. There is no need to shout everything .. We're hardly in a war zone." Carl said, grinning. As Kang seemed a little crestfallen, Torek tapped his Comms badge ..
=^= Torek to Sickbay =^=
=^= Be'Tor =^= came the reply.
=^= Doctor .. I need you outside Lieutenant Isis' quarters .. Sorry but we have another body for your attention =^=
=^= On my way .. Be'Tor out =^=
Carl, along with a now 'silent' Marine, and several Security, headed for Deck Five ..........
Conversation had stiffened up on the turbo lift at first Ramius thought that it was due to the situation however Ramius was feeling uncomfortable around McLean and he did not know why. Ramius thought for a moment he was very familiar with the technology and perhaps McLean was somehow involved, he had pre-empted the signal happening after all. Ramius dismissed this as shear paranoia on his part. The door to the turbo lift opened quickly and McLean gestured with his hand for Ramius to exit first. Ramius nodded a respectful nod and then proceeded off the turbo lift, McLean waited a few steps and then followed him off the turbo lift. Admiral Mc 7 of 9 and Commander Torek were stood outside the VIP Room, with the doors already open. Admiral Mc 7 of 9 stared at them both closely, then said “Commander Jared has the Sub Commander in custody. Scott I need you to search his quarters for any further devices and find the device he used to send that signal.” The Admiral then stared at Marko closely and said: “You must be Ensign Ramius, I have little time for introductions at the moment, I need you to try and decrypt the intercepted signal he sent. Additionally, I want you to aid in the search for wherever he directed the signal.” With that the Captain & the XO left to question Subcommander Jaren Ramius quickly wished McLean luck with his search. “Good luck Commander, if you find anything I can assist with I’ll be on the bridge.” The Chief Engineer countered quickly “Thank you Ensign, I’ll report my findings after the search of the SubCommander’s quarters” With that they went their separate ways and Ramius headed for the turbo-lift and to the bridge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Once aboard the Bridge, Marko began by relieving the duty opps officer and took over his station once more. It had been non-stop ever since he arrived on the Raven. He had little time to dwell and began to work on decrypting the signal and pinpointing where its intended destination was. All of a sudden the turbo lift doors opened and out popped a large Klingon, most of the bridge crew stopped and stared but Marko was too busy. He thought he heard the Klingon say he was the new Marine Commander, Marko had little time for Marines and Klingons for that matter – However he realised that everyone deserved a chance and just as he was going to introduce himself the Klingon was gone… OOC: A litte back posting, I've been so busy as of late... but I'm back
Marko took a deep breathe and then stared at the console in front of him. He had spent the last 15 minutes trying to decipher the signal sent from the Subcommander’s quarters. However, as they had only detected the signal being sent there was no way to access the encoded message. The only way Marko could think of finding out what was contained in the signal was for the device which sent the signal to be found and analysed. Hopefully it would still have the original message stored within its buffer. With this he tapped his comm: =^= Ramius to Commander McLean =^= =^= McLean here =^= =^= Any luck on finding the device which sent the signal, unfortunately we cant decipher the signal sent as we did not intercept the signal we merely detected it. =^= =^=Ensign, I already said I would report if I had found anything. As yet I have not but there must be something here, even if I have to take this room apart piece by piece. McLean out! =^= Barked the Chief Engineer, Marko thought he must have interrupted the search and distracted the Commander. Or maybe McLean was just always grumpy it was a possibility… Marko then sat through reading all the departmental reports that had been sent to his screen everything seemed to be in order. With all resources accounted for and now all personnel accounted for after the Security Officer had been found. Marko then moved on to attempting to find the destination for the signal – It was the Captain’s thinking that there was a cloaked ship shadowing the Raven. Marko intended to find out. Marko began by using the EM sensors to passively scan the immediate area around the Raven but alas he found nothing. He had expected to find nothing but now he was going to use a technique he had heard about in the Academy. He used the subspace sensors to detect any anomalous readings, he knew he would be unable to lock onto the target but if he found some anomalous signals right next to the Raven it was safe to assume there was a ship out there. It was then that the console he was using beeped twice, Marko had found the readings he had been searching for. He immediately informed Commander Torek over the comm. =^= Ramius to Commander Torek =^= =^= Torek here! =^= =^= I have detected some anomalous readings which I believe are a cloaked ship shadowing the Raven sir. I cannot pinpoint an exact location of the ship, I only know it is out there. =^= =^= This is grave news Marko, keep passively scanning at least then we’ll know its still out there. =^= =^= Commander should we raise the shields in case they are planning an attack? =^= =^= At this time I feel it is best that we do not raise shields or divert from our designated course as that may alert the cloaked ship that we are aware of their presence. Hopefully the interrogation of the Subcommander will turn up some results on this and he may be able to help us track the ship out there. Torek out, and good work Ensign. =^= Marko took a deep breathe and continued to monitor his scans for the cloaked ship’s signals to reappear. Why would a cloaked ship be stalking the Raven, Marko did not like this one bit and wondered what was in store for the Raven. OOC: Lets get the mission rocking folks!
McLean had gone through the Subcommander’s guest quarters with a fine toothcomb. He could feel the mounting frustration grow inside of him as he removed panel after panel. The ships sensors couldn’t even pick up these small devices and McLean was armed with only a handheld tricorder, not his weapon of choice in the situation.
Stopping his visual inspection of the room, McLean turned around and looked at the devastation he had just caused. Seeing several wall panels lying on the ground in the middle of the room, exposing the circuitry behind them only caused more frustration to build up. He knew that sooner of later he would have to give up and put everything back together; not exactly something he was looking forward to doing.
“Ramius to Commander McLean.” McLean heard just as he started to tear off a new wall panel.
“McLean here.” He replied.
”Any luck on finding the device which sent the signal, unfortunately we can’t decipher the signal sent as we did not intercept the signal we merely detected it.”
”Ensign, I already said I would report if I had found anything. As yet I have not but there must be something here, even if I have to take this room apart piece by piece. McLean out!”
Bridge officers, McLean thought to himself, always want things NOW. The sudden interruption caused McLean to need a break and he walked over to the replicator.
“Coffee, black.” McLean ordered.
The replicator beeped as if it was working but nothing happened. This nearly sent McLean over the deep end as he repeated his order in a more stern tone of voice, but the results were the way.
“Son of a…” McLean said aggressively as he pulled out the tricorder once again from his cargo pants pockets. He snapped the tricorder open and began a quick and routine diagnostic on the replicator. Looking at his readings the scanner showed nothing wrong.
“Figures.” McLean said sarcastically as he closed the tricorder and put it back into his pocket.
He was just about to leave the replicator when something hit him, a thought. McLean turned back around slowly and looked at the replicator and then thought about the small devices he had found earlier on the ship.
Pressing his finders into the top portion of the replicator McLean pulled off the top section of the replicator, exposing its technological insides. Peering into the small opening that he just created McLean spotted it; another small black device.
In a fit of haste McLean rushed and pulled off the rest of the replicator outside skin, not caring if he damaged anything in the process. Sitting at the bottom back end, connected to the ships systems, as before was a black rectangle like object. This device had a few more bells and whistles than the other smaller devices he had located before.
The top of the device had a single push button, probably coded to specific persons DNA, but McLean tried it anyway. Slowly the device cracked open and soon he was looking at a viewing screen with only coded green words on the monitor.
“Beautiful piece of technology isn’t it?” McLean heard from just behind him. McLean started to turn around but was quickly forced up against the wall. Suddenly he felt several sudden and sharp burning pains in his back, the action were repeated several times and then just as suddenly as it had begun he felt the unknown assailant release him.
McLean dropped to the ground and instinctively reached around behind him. When his hands returned they were covered in blood. The sound of the door swishing open caused McLean to look up back at the entrance of the room. His vision began to blur and he only could see a blurry silhouette of a man standing at the doorway looking back in at his handy work.
Satisfied with his actions the man turned and walked away, leaving McLean struggling to stay conscious. The Chief Engineer did what he could to try and get up but it was in vain, he was far too weak and loosing a lot of blood. He had only one option.
“Computer, emergency transport to sickbay…” McLean said just before he began to slip out of consciousness.
Deck 5/ POA
As Kang followed Commander Torak and the security detail he thought about the role his Marines had been regulated to. "We have an intruder or intruders running around the ship and what do they do, assign my men to guard duty,wonder who's bright idea that was." he thought to himself. "Real smooth entrance back there pal" the security guard nearest him whispered. As the Commander and the rest of the security detail headed around a corner Kang spoke to the security guard
"Look PAL"Kang growled, his face not even an inch from the man "First of all you'll address me as 2nd Lieutenant or Sir, second don't ever whisper at me or around me and thirdly you keep your comments to yourself, is that clear Ensign ?"
Before the ensign could reply Kang walked off as if nothing had happened, The ensign sinking to the floor holding his throat and gasping for air looked at the Klingon walking away
"Y..Yes Sir" before catching up with the others.
Deck 5
As the group emerged from the turbo-lift Kang spotted his Sergeant talking to a few of the men, and headed for them.
"Whats our status?" he asked the Sergeant.The sergeant turned around and noticing Kang gave a brief salute "Sir, I've posted men in the brig as well as guards at the vital areas of the ship" he said while shooting the security detail a dirty look. "Begging you pardon sir, but what the hell are we doing, shouldn't this be securities job, if you ask me they've got this all backward. If theres an intruder, spy or whatever aboard we should be looking for them, not security, who the hell thought this up anyways..Sir". Kang looked at the sergeant "That's enough, although I agree with you we still obey orders around here whether we like em or not, you have your orders and I expect them carried out with professionalism, pride and attention to detail, is that understood?" The sergeant straightening up replied "Sir, yes sir," then turned away and started issuing orders to the rest of the men.
Marko had been reviewing departmental reports for the last 15 minutes, he had become concerned by the lack of progress being made in finding the device in the Sub Commander’s quarters. When he noticed an irregularity in the Sub Commander’s quarters it seemed that the computer had received a request of some kind which it could not action. It was almost as if the computer had been blocked somehow, Marko thought it could just be interference from a device but decided to contact McLean just to be sure.
=^= Ramius to Commander McLean =^= There was no response… Marko repeated his communication: =^= Ramius to Commander McLean =^= But still he received no response. For a moment Marko considered that it may have been interference but the COMM had worked earlier. He decided to ask the Computer where McLean was.
“Computer locate Commander McLean” “Commander McLean is in the VIP Quarters.” Came the response
At this point Marko had become concerned, he decided to contact the security detail outside the VIP Quarters. =^= Ramius to Ensign Harris =^= Marko knew Harris was the duty security officer, again there was no response. Marko repeated his request several times but he still received no response. Marko decided to contact Commander Jared, Chief Security Officer to send another security team to the VIP quarters to make sure everything is alright.
=^= Ramius to Commander Jared =^=
=^= Jared, here! =^= Came the response
=^= Commander, I have reason to believe that the security detail along with Commander McLean have been incapacitated at the Sub Commander’s quarters. I request you send a team to find out what is happening… I have been unable to contact them for some time. =^=
=^= I am leading a team to the Sub Commander’s quarters right now, I shall find out what the situation is and update you accordingly. =^=
=^= Thank you Commander, Marko out =^= Marko ended the comm.
Marko then slouched over his console and contacted Commander Torek explaining the situation and he hoped that he had not blown the situation out of proportion. Could it just be interference from other devices or had something gone terribly wrong and with that thought Marko headed for the turbo lift and to Deck 2.
Torek had spoken to the Chief Operations Officer on his way to the brig, requesting he follow-up on anything he finds, then contact Torek once again .. The two marines assigned to guard the brig, moved easily to attention as the Captain and Exec' approached. Carl signaled for them to assume 'at ease' then glanced into the brig itself.
"Has he made any requests .. Asked to speak to the others ?" Mc asked.
"No Sir .." said one of the marines, as the other lowered the force field, "In fact .. He's not said a word since we put him in there." he finished, stepping aside to allow them to pass .. Mc7 and Carl entered and moved to the first detention cell. The Romulan was lying on the bunk, his back to them ..
"Lieutenant Jaren .. We would like to talk to you." said Mc, then after a few seconds' silence ..
"Lieutenant .. Silence isn't going to help your situation .. I can assure you of that !" he said, sighing at the Romulan's stubbornness.
"Jaren !" Carl said loudly, then turning to the Security Officer, "Open the Cell .. Now !"
As the shield dropped, Torek and the Captain rushed in ..Mc shook Jaren, then immediately felt for a pulse, as the Romulan lay still, his arm slipping from his chest, to hang loosely toward the floor ..
"Well ?" Torek asked, as Mc stepped back from the Romulan, his face a mask .. The Exec' looked from his Captain, to the Romulan on the bunk, then back again, knowing what was coming ..
In the doorway, the two marines looked at each other, wondering if they were about to become the center of attention .. But the Raven's two senior Officers had more to think about just then ..
"He's dead !" Mc stated simply.
After a few seconds of almost 'stunned' silence, Carl tapped his Comms badge ..
=^= Torek to Sickbay =^=
=^= Sickbay =^=
=^= Send someone to the Brig .. As soon as possible please =^=
=^= On my way Sir .. Sickbay out =^= said the duty nurse, picking up a med kit and heading for the door.
The realization seemed to hit both men at the same time, and they looked in silence at each other ..
There was a 'cold-blooded' MURDERER on the USS Raven ! ..........
Jared's day was not becoming any better. He had recently received a report that the new Marine commander had verbally abused on of his staff. He found the officer in question barking orders at his various subordinates. 'Lieutenant!' Jared shouted The Klingon snapped round, not looking at all happy 'If you ever verbally abuse any one of the Raven's staff, I will have you arrested for it. We have rules on this ship and despite your personal feelings you are to obey them. The next words you use had better be 'yes, sir' or else I'll have you shipped home for insubordination' <Kang>
=/\=Commander, I have reason to believe that the security detail along with Commander McLean have been incapacitated at the Sub Commander’s quarters. I request you send a team to find out what is happening… I have been unable to contact them for some time.=/\= Bugger was the thought, but the voice was more reasonable; 'I am leading a team to the Sub Commander’s quarters right now, I shall find out what the situation is and update you accordingly.' Jared didn't feel he needed to add that if this were the case then the captain would need to know; Ramius seemed very much with it, especially considering his rank. Jared motioned the security team nearby 'You come with me' Then to Kang and one of his marines: 'you watch this hallway. If anything usual happens, report it' The hallway itself was not actually any more a danger area than anywhere else, but it would keep Kang occupied in things other than making a nuisance of himself and would be a good lesson in humility. <Kang>
As they reached the VIP quarters, it was obvious something was amiss as both outside guards were gone. On opening the door, Jared saw they were both inside, as were McLean and the others, playing a happy game of who can hold still the longest. McLean was probably losing due to the pool of blood coming out of his nose. The others only had wounds to the back and sides of the head. =/\=Jared to BeTor, we have five people in the VIP quarters with head wounds. Are you able to assist?=/\= The last part was due to the current situation; one doctor really was being overworked. No wonder the EMH was turning more into a full out MH. <BeTor>
Marko arrived on Deck 2 and the VIP quarters to find Commander Jared and his team guarding the VIP quarters. He knew this could not be a good sign, as he tentatively strode towards the security detail.
“Commander Jared, Its unfortunate we are meeting for the first time on these terms but what has happened?” Exclaimed Marko
“I presume you are the new COO Ensign Ramius? Well I have 4 men down and Commander McLean was out cold as well but he was bleeding badly. We have transported them all to sickbay, it’s a good job you detected the computer being blocked or the situation could have been a lot worse.” Replied the Commander
“Is Commander McLean going to recover? Were his injuries severe and did he have another device on him by any chance?” Marko fired questions instinctively, hoping his fellow crew members were okay.
“As I said Ensign, It could have been worse. Doctor BeTor got to him just in time and he will be able to give us a statement fairly soon, we’re lucky we found him so soon. There was no sign of another device but for some reason McLean had taken the replicator to pieces.”
“Hmmmms… You mind if I take a look at the replicator? We have a serious situation on our hands, we have a murderer on board the Raven. We may need to restrict all non-key personnel to their quarters, that way we limit the murderer’s options and can monitor movement across the ship.”
“This is a crime scene Ramius but given the circumstances you can check it out, I think you’re right about restricting access to all non-key personnel. That will be my recommendation to the Captain” Responded Jared
On that note Marko went into the quarters, there was a large blood stain on the carpet near the replicator. Marko had always been squeamish around blood and this situation was no different. He stepped over the blood to gain access to the replicator, and noticed that some cables had been torn out like something had been attached to them and forceably removed. Marko could only assume it was another device and that McLean had come across it moments before he was attacked. Marko scanned the room briefly with his tricorder but found nothing. “Damn It” he thought to himself, the device could have solved the whole puzzle. As he left the VIP quarters he informed Commander Jared that he could not find any devices. Marko decided it best he return to his post and prepare a briefing for the Captain and the XO.
The Captain had had enough .. 'No-one was going to go round killing people on his ship' he thought .. He needed to put a stop to this, and quickly !
He tapped his Comms badge ..
=^= Captain to Bridge =^=
=^= Bridge .. Ensign Ramius =^=
=^= Mr Ramius .. Begin full active scans for that cloaked ship .. I'm no longer interested as to whether they know we're looking for them or not ! =^=
He closed the Comm before the COO could reply ..
"In fact .. I'm 'counting' on them seeing us looking." he finished to his Exec' .. Carl now hit his own Comms ..
=^= Torek to Bridge .. RED ALERT =^=
Things moved quickly, personnel rushing to their assigned duty stations, non-essential people clearing the corridors ..
"Get him to Sick-bay." Mc said, glancing backward at the dead Romulan in the cell, "I'll be on the Bridge."
Mc7_of_9 headed for the nearest turbo-lift, and on entering, requested the Main Bridge .. He was a little surprised as the lift began to move ..
"Computer .. Bridge !" he said again, but the 'lift continued to move downward. Reaching Deck eight before coming to a halt, the doors silently opened .. Puzzled, Mc spoke to the ships computer once again ..
"Computer .. Why am I on Deck eight after requesting the Bridge ?" again with no reply from the ship. He stepped into the now deserted corridor, a frown on his face .. He neither heard, or felt, the blow to the back of his head. His vision simply faded into total blackness, as he hit the floor .. Unconscious ..........
