Marko left the VIP quarters and walked along the corridor to the turbo lift. He was thinking about the device and what it could have been and why it was concealed in the replicator. It was all so confusing as he walked he thought he heard someone following him. He turned round but there was no-one there – paranoia he thought to himself as he entered the turbo lift. Moments later he was aboard the bridge and back at his station, preparing his briefing for the Captain and the XO when he was interrupted abruptly…
=^= Captain to Bridge =^=
=^= Bridge .. Ensign Ramius =^=
=^= Mr Ramius .. Begin full active scans for that cloaked ship .. I'm no longer interested as to whether they know we're looking for them or not ! =^=
The Comm was ended before Marko had the opportunity to respond, then within seconds the order came through that the ship was on red alert. Shields had been raised and bridge members were rushing around everywhere, Marko remained at his post and kept scanning for the cloaked ship. Marko knew it was out there but could not pinpoint its location, now he was going to aggressively scan the immediate area around the Raven and increase his chances of detecting the cloaked ship. However, chances are the cloaked ship would know that the Raven were now aware of their presence.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marko started again by scanning with the ship’s EM sensors and this time picked up the same anomalous readings as before but he could not pinpoint the precise location they were coming from. Marko decided to couple the subspace sensors and the EM sensors and aggressively scan the cloaked ship to discover its location, this notion had risks involved. Marko kept scanning the immediate area and recalobrated the sensors with each scan to try and get a specific lock on the ship although it was going to take some time. Marko decided to inform Commander Torek via his Comm to update him on his current progress.
=^= Ramius to Torek =^=
=^= Torek here! =^=
=^= Commander, I thought I would update you on the scans for the cloaked ship. I’ve had to try recalobrating the ship’s sensors to try and pinpoint the location of the ship. The drawback is that the cloaked ship will now know we know they are there. So it may be even harder to discover them. =^=
=^= Keep working on it Marko, Is the Captain on the bridge? =^=
=^= No Sir, I haven’t seen him =^=
=^= Hmmmm, that’s odd I thought he would be there by now. Torek out. =^=
With that Torek ended the Comm and Marko went back to his scans hoping that he would locate the ship before it may be too late.
.......... =^= Keep working on it Marko .. Is the Captain on the bridge ? =^= =^= No Sir .. I haven’t seen him =^= =^= Hmmmm .. That’s odd .. I thought he would be there by now .. OK .. Torek out =^= Carl re-activated his Comms .. =^= Torek to Captain =^= ..... =^= Torek to Captain =^= he repeated ..... "Computer .. Current location of Admiral Mc7_of_9." "The Admiral is currently on deck eight .. Astrometrics." Tapping his Comms badge yet again, this time at a run toward the nearest turbo-lift, he ordered Security and Medical to meet him outside Astrometrics .. On deck eight, he ran from the lift, seeing two of Commander Jared's men waiting for him, phasers drawn, along with two Medics .. As they entered, the Security Officers moved to the left and right, keeping low .. Carl saw Mc, he was slumped against the center console, clearly out cold .. Moving to him, he checked the Captain's pulse, then moved aside as the Medics entered, they didn't waste time, once they had checked him quickly, they simply beamed him straight to Sick-bay .. Security reported the room empty, and moved toward the door to await new orders .. "Computer .. Access log entries for Astrometrics .. For the last ... Thirty minutes." "There were no logged entries in specified time-frame." 'What the .....' Torek thought, slamming his fist against the console. "When was Astrometrics last used ?" he asked, knowing he wasn't going to like the answer. "Astrometrics was last accessed thirty seven hours ago." the computer informed him. "WHO .. The Hell .. Is doing this !" he said to no-one in particular, then left the room .. Sending the Security Officers back to Commander Jared, he headed for Sick-bay to check on the Captain .......... < tag : E'liana >
Marko had just been informed that the Captain had been found unconscious in Astrimetrics. As a member of the senior staff Marko had been informed by Commander Torek to keep it on a need to know basis. If the crew discovered that the Captain had been assaulted it would hurt morale and cause fear amongst them, fear was not a good motivator. So the information was kept strictly between the senior officers, with two senior officers now in sick bay (The Captain and the Chief Engineer) Marko couldn’t help but feel like the saboteur was getting the better of them.
Marko was reviewing department reports and continuing to scan the immediate area around the Raven. He was getting closer to pinpointing the ship, however it was still going to be a lengthy process. He decided to check with security to confirm that all key systems were under guard given that the ship was at red alert.
=^= Ramius to Commander Jared =^=
=^= Commander Jared here =^=
=^= Commander, are all key systems being guarded? Also, any luck with the search for the murderer? =^=
=^= All key systems are being guarded by a team of security officers who report in at 5 minute intervals. My men are spread thin so the search has almost become a secondary priority we just don’t have the manpower. =^=
=^= Thank you Commander, I’ll try and use the ship’s sensors to aid in the search. Ramius out =^=
With that Marko ended the Comm, he had just given himself more work to do by using the internal sensors to find the murderer. The murderer would most likely be hidden by one of his many devices onboard but Marko would try none the less. Marko then thought about the condition of the Captain and Commander McLean so he got on his Comm again and contacted sickbay.
=^= Ramius to Sickbay =^=
=^= Doctor BeTor here! =^=
=^= Doctor BeTor, how are Scott and Mc? =^=
=^= Scott has just come round and wants to get back to work, the Captain is not so fortunate and remains unconscious. =^=
=^= Commander Torek is on route now, I will update him on both men’s conditions. Ramius out! =^=
Marko then hurrdily tapped his Comm Badge again informing Torek of the progress of the search for the cloaked ship and the murderer as well as the condition of Scott and Mc. Marko then hunched over his console and began recalobrating the sensors to pinpoint this ship once more. He also used the ship’s internal life sign detector to monitor key systems as he thought that would be where the murderer would strike next…
OOC: Come on everyone... lets find this murderer!
He had been informed that the Captain wasn't about to be getting out of Sick-bay anytime soon, the blow to his head had apparently dislodged one of his implants. Doctor Be'Tor would have to consider operating on Mc, if the node doesn't 're-seat' itself when the swelling reduces .. He asked E'liana to do all she could ..
Carl returned to the Bridge, pleased that Reman had posted Security or Marines at almost every junction, as well as at all vital areas .. The Raven herself was now in a virtual 'lock-down' .. No-one would be moving about, officially that is. Anyone else had no right, and 'everyone' was double-checked ! ...
Once on the Bridge, Carl asked Marko if he was using the sensor pallets that Lieutenant Isis had installed .. He was, and felt close to getting a position. nodding, Carl took his seat .. Then as he idly watched space stream by on the view-screen, he had a thought about the way the detectors actually work ...
"Marko .. The pallets detect a sort of 'wave' formed by a ships movement .. Right ?"
"Yes .. As Isis explained it .. Similar to seeing the ripples made by your hand as it passes through water ..."
"So ... We need to have some of those 'ripples' then .. Don't we." Carl said, grinning, "Helm .. Bring us to full stop .. Do it quickly !"
The massive ship dropped from warp, ans within a matter of seconds was motionless in space .. Carl looked at Ramius, who was studying his read-outs intently .. then ...
"Yes ! ...! he said, slapping his hand on the console, "I've got them .. They've over-shot us and seem to be coming about .." Marko frowned at his reading, then continued, "Hold it hold it .. They had stopped .. Three thousand meters directly ahead !"
'Far enough away to get out of our way should we decide to run' Torek thought, silently he mulled the situation over ..
"Arm photon torpedo's .. 'Manually' understand .. Full spread to detonate three thousand meters from our bow .. Fire on my order !" Torek said.
"Our shields will take a battering at that range ...." Ramius pointed out.
"Yes .. But nothing like the battering 'they' will take .. OK .. Open a channel to that ship !"
"Channel open."
=^= Cloaked vessel .. We have locked on to your precise location .. If you make any attempt to move we will open fire .. Drop your cloak .. NOW ! =^=
Silently, Carl ran his finger across his neck, to signify 'cut the Comm' .. He, and the Bridge crew, watched the screen to see just what would happen next ..........
With one single spray from the hypospray McLean eyes slowly opened. Standing over him was Doctor BeTor and her tricorder. Once the hazy feelings he had started to subside, McLean tried to rise but was forced back down by the Doctor.
“Be still.” BeTor said.
“What happened?” McLean asked.
“You were assaulted in the VIP quarters,” BeTor said as she continued to scan, “and stabbed several times in the back with a sharp object.”
The moment flashed several times in McLean head, he could hear the voice and then the sudden sharp pains in his back. BeTor’s tricorder jumped with McLean sudden flashbacks.
“Are you alright?” She asked.
“Yeah,” McLean replied as he forced himself up on the bio bed, “I just want to get back to work.”
“You will be ready for full duty once I finish my scans.”
McLean knew he couldn’t fight the Doctor, and it wasn’t because she was a Klingon either. He knew that with the slightest bit of grief the Doctor could bench him until she felt he was mentally able to come back to work.
“How long have I been out?” McLean asked.
“A few hours now.” BeTor replied.
A few hours, McLean thought. He knew now that he needed to get back to work. There was a good chance that the killer was still on the loose and other crewmembers were in danger. His eyes danced around the room and then he came upon Admiral Mc7 of 9 lying on a nearby bio bed. Things were indeed more dire than he knew.
=^= Cloaked vessel .. We have locked on to your precise location .. If you make any attempt to move we will open fire .. Drop your cloak .. NOW ! =^=
The Commander listened, a grin appearing on his face .. There was no way they had been detected, and everyone knew it .. Even so, They still had the problem of getting their operative off the Federation ship .. He had done all he was asked to do in Killing Tovan .. The Federation security officer, along with Jaren, one of the other Romulans, would just heighten the tension between the two races .. But now they needed to get him back to their vessel, and that couldn't happen while the Raven's shields were raised ...
"Commander .." said his weapons officer, "I am detecting minor fluctuations in their aft shields .. We could attempt a beam out from that area."
"Move us behind them and begin scanning for an opening ..." said the Commander.
They had moved less than two hundred meters when the beam, almost pure energy, slammed into the forward section of their hull .. Shaking the ship violently, and throwing most of the Bridge crew to the floor .. The Commanders face registered utter astonishment ! .. He'd been promised when he purchased the cloaking device, at a cost of almost half his personal wealth, that it was undetectable .. Shields inoperative while cloaked was a drawback, but, he thought, the cloak was more than adequate ..
"ALL STOP !" he yelled, glaring at the massive ship on his view-screen ...
On the Raven, it was Carl's turn to grin .. For a split second, as their phasers hit, the faint outline of an old Bird of Prey could be seen. Obviously heavily adapted, but even fully functional, no match for the Raven ...
=^= That shot was less than twenty percent of our phaser output .. Do NOT attempt to move your ship again .. Our weapons have now been re-set to maximum output .. Drop your cloak now .. Otherwise I will ensure that it becomes a moot point .. Very quickly ! =^=
The Bird of Prey's Commander looked round at his Officer's .. To a man, they were now afraid .. Their plan was falling apart before them .. He knew he had no other choice .. Their only hope now, was that the man they had on the Raven could somehow still help them .. He gave the order ...
"Drop the Cloak." ..........
OOC: Some back posting... Marko had been at his station for a couple of hours now and had been trying to decipher the anomalous readings of the cloaked ship. It only then occurred to Marko to contact Lieutenant JC Isis, the Chief Science Officer on the Raven. Marko had been carrying out some of her duties in her absence as the COO. Marko paused for a moment to retrace everything that had happened since his arrival, Marko had not met Lieutenant Isis yet as she had been confined to quarters. Marko decided to contact her over the Comm to see if she could provide any assistance in scanning for the cloaked ship.
=^= Bridge to Lieutenant Isis =^= Marko exclaimed as he tapped his comm badge.
=^= Lieutenant Isis here =^=
=^= Lieutenant, this is Ensign Marko Ramius the new COO. I am looking for your assistance. We’re in the process of trying to detect a cloaked vessel and was hoping you may be able to provide assistance. =^=
=^= You are in luck Marko, I installed some new sensor pallets a couple of months back. The pallets detect a sort wave' in space formed by a ships movement Its almost like ripples being made in water and should give you a precise location of the ship. I’m sending the sensor codes to your station now, and call me JC. =^=
=^= Thanks, Lieutenant… I mean JC, this will be of great assistance in finding the ship.=^=
=^= Marko, if you have the chance to speak to Carl or Mc can you try and convince them to let me out of my quarters and work at my station. I’m no use to anyone being confined to my quarters. =^=
=^= There is a lot going on just now, if I can get a moment with the Captain I will put in a good word for you. Marko out. =^=
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marko set about using the new sensor pallets to recalobrate his search for the cloaked vessel stalking the Raven. He had almost located the precise location of the ship when Commander Torek stepped onto the Bridge. Marko was going to hand the Commander the hourlies but he looked deep in thought so he decided not to interrupt his superior. Torek relieved the command officer and took his chair on the Bridge. He then turned to Marko and inquired about the search for the cloaked vessel and whether Marko was using Isis’s sensor pallets.
Commander Torek then asked: "Marko .. The pallets detect a sort of 'wave' formed by a ships movement .. Right ?"
"Yes .. As Isis explained it .. Similar to seeing the ripples made by your hand as it passes through water ..." Marko explained
"So ... We need to have some of those 'ripples' then .. Don't we." Commander Torek said, grinning, "Helm .. Bring us to full stop .. Do it quickly !"
The massive ship dropped from warp, and within a matter of seconds was motionless in space .. Torek looked at Ramius, who was studying his read-outs intently .. then ...
"Yes ! ...! he said, slapping his hand on the console, "I've got them .. They've over-shot us and seem to be coming about .." Marko frowned at his reading, then continued, "Hold it hold it .. They had stopped .. Three thousand meters directly ahead !"
"Arm photon torpedo's .. 'Manually' understand .. Full spread to detonate three thousand meters from our bow .. Fire on my order !" Torek said.
Marko pointed out: "Our shields will take a battering at that range ...."
"Yes .. But nothing like the battering 'they' will take .. OK .. Open a channel to that ship !" Replied the wily Commander
Channel open|: =^= Cloaked vessel .. We have locked on to your precise location .. If you make any attempt to move we will open fire .. Drop your cloak .. NOW ! =^=
Marko and the rest of the Bridge crew all sat in silence intently staring at the viewscreen waiting for something to happen. It felt like an hour had passed when in fact it had only been 5 minutes, Marko wondered if the Commander would carry out his threat. Marko felt he had to break the tension and so suggested that the Raven fire a warning shot;
“Commander, the cloaked vessel has not responded to your hail but has remained perfectly still. It may be prudent to fire a warning shot to make them clear of our intentions.” Marko concluded
The Commander thought for a moment, and then responded “I agree Marko, perhaps the inhabitants of the cloaked ship do not believe our resolve or that we know their location. Tactical prepare to fire a warning shot on my mark, and open a channel to the ship.”
“Channel open” and “Torpedo ready on your mark, Sir” came the bridge crew response.
Just as the Commander was about to open a channel to the cloaked vessel it doubled back around the Raven and was now sitting at the aft section of the Raven.
With this movement Commander Torek gave the order to fire phasers: “Fire phasers at that cloaked ship now!” As the phasers struck the cloaked ship, the faint outline of an old Bird of Prey could be seen but only for a second. Obviously heavily adapted, but even fully functional, no match for the Raven ...
At this point, Torek opened his comm to the cloaked ship once more this time with great authority and stated: =^= That shot was less than twenty percent of our phaser output .. Do NOT attempt to move your ship again .. Our weapons have now been re-set to maximum output .. Drop your cloak now .. Otherwise I will ensure that it becomes a moot point .. Very quickly ! =^=
Again the bridge crew stared at the viewscreen and moments later the entire old bird of prey appeared on screen… It was clear that the ship had been modified however it was an old class of ship and Marko was confident that the Raven could destroy it if necessary. Now it was a matter of waiting as the bridge crew looked at one another and then Commander Torek to await their instructions and the Raven’s next move...
OOC: I'm back, sorry I haven't had the opportunity to post more...

OOC: Hope this is ok guys!
IC:
E’Liana looked up from her work and saw the workaholic known as McLean wake up. She rose from her chair to make sure he stayed where he was. She picked up her tricorder as she answered the series of questions.
“How long have I been out?” McLean asked.
“A few hours now.” she replied.
E’Liana could see that he was trying to figure out how to get out of sickbay as quickly as possible. She inwardly rolled her eyes. She didn’t need him trying to be a hero right now, when he had only just regained consciousness.
She patted him on the shoulder in what she hoped would be seen as a comforting manner and smiled. “Just lie down and let me finish these scans. You can leave shortly after that.”
E’Liana could see that the man was restless to get back to work and supposed that she should commend such enthusiasm, but could not bring herself to under the circumstances. It did, after all, make her job much more difficult.
She finished her scans and dismissed him with a warning that if he wasn’t too careful he would be paying her another visit. “Please make sure not to put too much pressure on your body. Yes, I know you’re an engineer-” She added, at seeing his slightly sarcastic glance “-but you are the Head of Engineering, and as such can delegate.” She raised an eyebrow at him forcefully.
As he left, E’Liana turned to her other patient. The Admiral had not yet improved, and although his condition was not life threatening, she found herself concerned for him nevertheless. She scanned him again and found his condition much the same as before. E’Liana closed her eyes in frustration and left the man to sleep.

Carl was more than willing to wait for the other ship to de-cloak .. After-all, they weren't going anywhere .. He sat back, glancing idly up from the report on the PADD he held .. 'Let them do all the thinking they needed to' he thought.
Suddenly, a shimmer appeared, then formed itself into the image of an old Klingon Bird of Prey .. Carl put down the PADD, silently signaling for a Comm channel to be opened .. Marko nodded ..
=^= My name is Commander Carl Torek .. Who am I addressing ? =^=
..........
=^= I will ask the question once more .. You would be wise to answer me .. Who am I speaking to =^=
The view-screen changed, to show a frightened, a very frightened Ferengi ... He was anything but confident that he was on the winning side, Carl could see that. But, there was something in the Ferengi's manner, that made Torek hesitate, only for a milli-second, but it was there, and the Ferengi saw it ...
=^= WHY .. Do you think you can threaten a Ferengi vessel and get away with it ! =^=
=^= Who am I addressing ? =^= Carl asked, again ..
=^= I ... Am Diamon Vadid .. Captain of the ...... =^=
=^= Vadid ! =^= Carl interrupted, =^= Give me ONE good reason why i shoul ....... =^=
The explosion, shook the Raven to her very core .. The blast, seemingly like a photon torpedo detonation, blew out a forty meter length of the hull on deck Ten .. Damaging vital systems, not irreparably, but seriously non the less .. The inertial dampers were now off-line, and the Raven began to yaw to port .. emergency bulkheads slammed into place, along with force-fields at points now open to space .. He couldn't begin to imagine how many of the crew were in that section as it was blown out .. Carl began to ask for updates, he glanced at the view-screen, on it, Vadid seemed as shocked at the situation as did he himself. But the Ferengi wasn't going to let the opportunity to escape pass by ..
"Bring us about !" Vadid yelled at his Helm officer, "Get us out of here .. NOW .. NOW !"
Torek saw the Bird of Pray begin to rotate, putting distance between it, and the Intrepid Class Starship .. He looked at Jared, who was obviously thinking the same as he was ....
"Fire photon torpedo's !"
"Aye Sir .." Ramen said, Firing the full spread of torpedo's. Even at the Raven's acute angle of fire, three found their target, and the Bird of Pray disappeared in a flash of brilliant light ... but Carl didn't take the time to gloat ...
"Get us stabilized .. Damage reports .. Marko .. GET me some information .. What the HELL caused that explosion !" ..........

Marko was staring at the viewscreen on the Bridge it showed an old rusty looking Klingon Bird of Prey decloak in front of the Raven. Commander Torek hailed the ship demanding to know who he was speaking to when a rather unseemly looking ferengi appeared on the viewscreen. He almost looked like he had suffered a great amount of torture as his face had significant scaring. Marko knew very little about the Ferengi as a race apart from their love for profit and big ears. He was puzzled by their use of a Klingon ship, he assumed that they had scavenged the Bird of Prey presumably once it had been abandoned by its Klingon crew. Commander Torek was interrogating the Ferengi calling himself Diamon Vadid, when suddenly Marko felt the Raven shake violently and found himself lying on the floor. He heard Commander Torek give the order to fire upon the Ferengi ship, not knowing what was happening he stood up and stared at his console he saw Reports coming in from every department. It was difficult to keep up with the reports flooding in but Marko established that the Raven had suffered a blast on Deck 10. He was unsure as to what had caused the explosion but one thing was for sure it had originated from inside the Raven. Marko couldn’t help but think it was sabotage the stowaway had struck again… Commander Torek yelled: "Get us stabilized .. Damage reports .. Marko .. GET me some information .. What the HELL caused that explosion !" Marko franticly relayed the information he had gathered in the brief moments since the explosion: “Commander, we have reports coming in that there is extensive hull damage on deck 10 – approximately a 40metre hull breach. Vital systems took some serious damage, environmental control is offline, inertial dampeners are offline & shields are at 20% and dropping. Other systems have been hit, but are repairable. There were approximately 40 crew members on deck 10 before the explosion, I’ve got casualty estimates coming in now.” “Marko, have medical teams on deck 10, as well as engineering teams to carry out repairs and have security there to examine the scene of the explosion. Reman I want you on deck 10 find out the cause!” Replied Commander Torek Reman hurriedly left the Bridge contacting his security personnel as the doors opened to the turbolift. “Commander, we have 12 crew members unaccounted for and 10 seriously injured. Dr Be’Tor is enroute with medical teams now. Structural integrity on deck 10 is greatly compromised, we may have to seal off the entire deck. The explosion came from within the Raven, early indications are that it was a bomb.” “Okay Marko, monitor the situation from your station inform all personnel on deck 10 to be ready to leave at any moment. Keep a close eye on the structural integrity and liaise with our teams and keep me apprised of any developments.” "Yes Sir" Replied Marko Marko stared at his console reviewing all the information coming into his station with each passing second. He couldn’t help but worry about the unaccounted personnel and with Reman & ELaina on their way to deck 10 he hoped that the structural integrity would hold up… <Tag: Jared/Be’Tor > OOC: Whats happening on Deck 10 then?

Marko had just received a further Report from the Engineering teams on Deck 10. The damage was much more than early indications, Marko decided to contact the Engineering team on Deck 10. Lt. Benson was the senior officer of the teams so Marko decided to contact him. Tapping his Comm:
=^= Ramius to Lt. Benson =^=
=^= Benson, here =^=
=^= What is the current situation Lieutenant? =^=
=^= Its worse than we had first anticipated, the Flight Control Center is completely shot and is going to take a few hours to repair. So we wont be going anywhere without it, to compound matters the Main Navigational Deflector is damaged too – so even when we get the Flight Control back on line we wont know where we are going… sorry Ensign… Commander McLean has just arrived – Benson out! =^=
The news that Commander McLean was up and about had cheered Marko up, he knew that if anyone could get the Raven moving again it was Scott. Marko then contacted the medical teams on Deck 10: =^= Ramius to Dr Be’Tor =^=
=^= Be’Tor here =^=
=^= Sorry to disturb you Doctor but how are the injured on Deck 10 and have we found anymore of the crew? =^=
=^= We just finished beaming the last of the injured to Sickbay, casualties are not as high as originally feared. There are two crewmen unaccounted for & 2 crewmen dead, we have 20 injuries with 2 critical. I have to go and tend to the injured and I don’t have much time to report anything more to you Ensign. Be’Tor out =^= As the Doctor ended the Comm
Marko felt like he had ruffled the feathers of their Klingon Doctor but he now had only one more thing to find out and that’s what caused the explosion to occur: =^= Ramius to Commander Jared =^=
=^= Jared here =^=, =^= Has there been any progress in determining the cause of the explosion on deck 10? =^= Inquired Marko
=^= We have determined that the explosion was the result of a bomb planted to damage the Raven’s flight and navigation systems. It remains to be seen whether or not the perpetrator died in the explosion or if in fact he is still on the loose. =^= Replied Jared
=^= Thanks Reman, good luck with the investigation. =^=
Marko compiled all the information onto a PADD and handed it to Commander Torek.
“These are the damage reports and casualties thus far on Deck 10, damage is worse than we thought and it looks like we will be imobilised for a few hours.” Marko said as he passed the PADD to his superior.
“Thank you Marko, keep me apprised of any developments.”

The ship was slowly rotating along it's axis .. The star's seemingly turning in a lazy spin .. Without inertial dampers, and no power, they were effectively dead in space .. It was a situation Carl needed rectifying .. Quickly .. The alternative, would be to contact Star-base Bellicose .. For a tow ! .. 'thats not about to happen' he thought to himself ...
Scanning the report Marko had given him, he could see things were getting done .. Obviously, the dampers, and suddenly fluctuating gravity in the area of Deck Ten were the priority issues. Commander McLean had gone down there himself to oversee the repairs. While in Sick-bay, Doctor BeTor was tending to the injured ..
"Mr Ramius .." Carl said, "Scan this region of space .. If there is ANYTHING out there .. I want to be informed .. I'll be in the Captain's ready room."
"Aye Sir." Marko said, getting to work.
As he sat down, Carl was already thinking about the Bird of Pray .. It should never have exploded like that. Even at the ship's obvious age, she should have withstood the couple of hits to her shields. It was possible, of course, that they failed to raise them in time, but he doubted it ..
But that could wait .. They 'needed' to get the Raven moving .. Tapping his Comms badge, he contacted Scott ..

Drafting a brief status report for Admiral Clark, requesting Bellicose be ready to work on the Raven the moment she docks, he had Comms send it off. Then, he rubbed at his temples, in an effort to rid himself of the fatigue that he was feeling ..........

"Mr Ramius .." Carl said, "Scan this region of space .. If there is ANYTHING out there .. I want to be informed .. I'll be in the Captain's ready room."
With that Carl left the Bridge and headed for the Captain’s Ready Room. Which got Marko to wonder how Mc was doing down in Sick Bay, presumably he hadn’t as he suspected that Mc would be back on the Bridge. Marko began scanning the immediate area around the Raven to detect any cloaked vessels but he came up with nothing, so he set the computer to scan with 5 minute intervals so if anything was out there he would know about it. Marko remained at his station reviewing reports as they came in and monitoring the repair progress. Things were happening almost too fast for Marko to keep tabs on but he was managing to keep a handle on it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2 hours later ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Commander Torek had returned to take up his seat on the Bridge once more. Marko had been at his station for a few hours now and was starting to feel fatigued but he wasn’t about to stop is work it was much too important. The repairs aboard the Raven were coming along nicely, even so Marko felt the need to speak to Scott about it so tapped his Comm:
=^= Ramius to McLean =^=
=^= McLean here, I’m a little swamped at the moment. How can I help you? =^=
=^= Can you just give me a quick update on how the repairs are coming along at present. =^=
=^= Well we have the Main Navigational Deflector operating at 50%, Inertial Dampeners are still down but we should have them repaired in the next 2 hours. Structural Integrity has been stabilised along Deck 10 and inform Commander Torek that the engines are fine. So as soon as we have Inertial Dampeners back, we can move out. =^=
=^= Thanks Commander, Hows your head holding up? =^=
=^= Just fine, Its felt better since I’ve been working, thanks for asking. Anyways, I have to get back to these blasted dampeners. McLean out! =^= As the Comm was ended Marko received a report from Medical that the 2 critical crewmembers had been stabilised. Attached to the report were the names and ranks of the 4 officers who had perished in the explosion. Marko compiled it all onto a PADD and handed it Commander Torek.
“That report details the progress of repairs & has the confirmed casualty list Sir.” As Marko said that the Raven yawed to her starboard. As a member of the Bridge crew relayed a Comm message he just received:
“Repair teams were testing the Inertial Dampeners” as the Raven began to yaw back to port.
Commander Torek replied with a wry smile: “Please inform our wonderful repair teams to give us warning next time, we don’t want anymore injuries and I don’t like being surprised.”
Marko got back to allocating resources amongst the repair teams to get inertial dampeners online as soon as possible so the Raven could return to her mission.
It had taken Commander McLean almost nine hours to get the inertial dampers on-line .. Even Carl was convinced it would have taken another Engineer double that .. Scott had literally scavenged parts from everywhere on the ship for his repairs, Torek for one, was very impressed ...
"As I said earlier Sir ..." Scott was saying on the Bridge, "I can cope with warp two .. But anything more and the integrity of the temporary bulkheads we erected could fail .. I'll get people working on it but ...." he finished, raising his hands in resignation.
"OK .." Carl said, "Then warp two it has to be." thinking any speed was better than none at all.
"Helm .. Set a course for Starbase Bellicose .. Warp two."
"Course laid-in Sir." said the duty Navigation Officer.
"Then let's go !" Carl ordered.
The ship began a lazy turn to port until reaching her heading, then jumped, almost tentatively, into warp ... Reman, scanning the Engineering Section boards intently, was frowning to himself ..
"Carl .. I'm going back down to my department .. I can monitor everything better from down there." he said.
"OK Scott."
~~~~~~~~~~
Several hours later, E'liana contacted Torek. She wanted to inform him that the Admiral seemed to be recovering better than expected, and was certain he'd want to be out of Sick-bay the second he was able .. She would prefer to keep him there for a day or so more, but that would depend on her keeping him unconscious. Unethical at best, but she knew full well that the second he could get off the Bio-bed unaided, he'd be out the door .. Torek had asked to be kept updated ..
The Raven, traveling at a sedate warp two, would take twelve days to reach Bellicose. McLean was working hard to change that .. It would suit Carl to get there much quicker, as one problem wasn't going to be going away. In fact, it was getting worse .. The Romulans ! ...
The two remaining Officers had been screaming to be released from their quarters, AND be allowed access to communications equipment so as to contact Romulus ..
Even though there had been no further 'incidents' since the explosion, Carl's explanation for their 'confinement' was for protection, fearing Yevin or Donark may well be the next intended target of any killer. He deemed it un-necessary to point out that in his opinion, one of THEM was in fact the man responsible .. As to the Comms, he'd said they had been irreparably damaged in the explosion itself .. He neither worried, or cared, if the story was believed .. Mc would be back soon, then he could deal with their two 'guests' !
There was nothing more he could do at the moment, checking the chronometer above the view-screen, he wasn't that surprised at how long he'd spent on the Bridge .. He needed a shower, a change of uniform, and some rest ! .. Getting up, he headed for the turbo-lift ...
"Mr Ramius .. I'm going to my quarters .. You have the Bridge." he said, stepping into the waiting lift.
"Aye Sir ..." said Marko, motioning for someone to take his station as he sat in the Captain's chair ..........

"Mr Ramius .. I'm going to my quarters .. You have the Bridge." The Commander said, stepping into the waiting lift.
"Aye Sir ..." Chirped Marko with a half smile on his face, this would be the first time he had ever sat in the Captain’s chair on any ship. He motioned to the junior Ops officer to take over his station as he sat in the chair. Marko sat in awe for a moment just looking at the viewscreen as the ship travelled at warp, then began to ask for updates from the Bridge crew.
He turned to Ensign Reigns, his junior officer and asked to be given an update on repairs on Deck 10 as well as the condition of the injured. Reigns nodded and got to work, Marko felt somewhat isolated sitting in the Captain’s chair . He liked sitting at his station reviewing departmental reports and allocating the ship’s resources, never the less it was still an exciting prospect being in charge of the ship. Marko decided to contact Reman to see how the investigation of the explosion was coming along.
Tapping his COMM: =^= Bridge to Commander Jared =^=
=^= Jared here =^=
=^=Jared, How is the investigation coming? =^=
=^= We have determined that the bomb was triggered remotely, so this would suggest our saboteur is still at large. However, we cannot be certain. We are following up some leads at the moment and are hoping we will identify from the blast remains who created the bomb or even who placed it. =^= Explained Jared
=^= Thanks Commander, Ramius out! =^=
With that, Marko picked up a PADD which had one of his earlier reports on it that he had given to Carl and noticed it had an open message displaying the words – ‘Try to hand the Bridge back over to me in one piece Marko’ Marko gave a wry smile and sat back in the Captain’s chair to enjoy the ride.

OOC: A lot of back posting on my part.
Even though McLean was injected with painkillers he still felt pain in his lower back, probably from lying on those Bio-beds, McLean thought. The Chief Engineer limped his way out of sickbay, stretching out his back as best he could while he walked to the nearby turbo lift. Just as he was about to enter the turbo lift the ship shook violently; McLean braced himself up against the wall while the ship stabilized itself.
Tapping his COM Badge McLean promptly opened a channel with Main Engineering, “Engineering report.”
“Explosion on Deck 10 sir. Cause unknown.” McLean heard over the COM.
“Get Lt. Benson on it at once, I’m on my way down.” McLean ordered.
“Aye sir.”
McLean rushed into the turbo lift and didn’t even wait for the doors to close before he ordered the lift down to Deck 10. The doors opened up on Deck 10 and McLean stood face to face with a disaster area. He wasted no time rushing into the fray with nothing more than the tools that he always carried on his person.
His back hurt like hell but he pressed through the debris field that lied before him. Fires were almost everywhere and thick black smoke filled the corridors. At the end of the long corridor McLean turned left with out looking and ran head long into a force field. The quick impact caused McLean to stumble backwards and fall to the ground. Looking up he found himself face to face with the cold of space.
“Thank you auxiliary power.” McLean said as he picked himself up off the floor.
“Commander?” McLean heard from behind him.
Turning around to face the voice, McLean couldn’t see much behind him. Smoke was everywhere and in between that raged more fires. The lights down that corridor flickered, as it was obvious to McLean that main power in this section was off line.
McLean walked slowly and cautiously toward the voice. He heard the voice a few more times and then it became clear that he wasn’t the one being called. Peering around the corner of some fallen walls McLean could see a single crewman trying to keep a Lt. Commander from passing away.
“Crewman!” McLean shouted
The crewman seemed to have heard McLean and looked up, his face burnt from the explosion. McLean knew that the crewman was probably blind.
“Crewman, can you see me?” McLean asked.
McLean watched as the crewman squinted with his eyes as if he was trying to look at a great distance then went back to trying to arise his fallen duty officer. McLean again shouted to get the crewman’s attention but this time he didn’t respond to McLean’s calls.
“Computer, activate Emergency Fire Protocol Alpha One.” McLean ordered, but there was no response. McLean then tapped his COM Badge and found it too wasn’t working. Damn, communications have been cut off in this section. McLean had no choice but to find an area that wasn’t surrounded in static.
Going back the way he came, McLean burst into a Jefferies Tube and climbed the nearest ladder up to the next deck. Once he was there he reordered the EFP program after rerouting power from various systems to Deck 10, and this time it seemed to have worked. Rushing back down the ladder, McLean came back out from where he had entered on Deck 10.
This time the scene was different, no more smoke, and the fires had been put out. McLean rushed to the aid of the fallen Lt. Commander and the worried crewman. He fought his way through the pain in his back along with the debris that lied all over the section. When reached the two men he saw a scene that he hadn’t expected. The roofing of the deck had fallen on top of the two men, killing them both. Down the corridor McLean saw new, fresh Medical staff members rushing to the aid of other survivors.
“Benson to McLean.”
After a moment McLean replied, “Go ahead Chet.”
“Sir, main power is offline. That explosion caused a surge in our EPS grid, and-“
”And the Warp Core shut down as it was designed to do.” McLean finished.
”Yes sir.”
McLean stood in shock and watched the medics rush to the injured. He felt defeated and personally attacked. He knew that somebody was on board who held a very intimate knowledge of the ship and was using that to cause chaos. They could use this down time to do a number of things, the first thing McLean feared is that his attacker and the killer might simply escape in the chaos.
“Chet,” McLean said in a frustrated tone, “Take Alpha Team and get started on the Warp Core and the star drive systems. Send me down Hazard Teams One thru Five. Have them bring as many spare parts as they can carry.”
“Aye sir.” Benson replied.
McLean had a lot of work ahead of him and given the current situation he didn’t have that much time to do it. As he stood there watching the medics work he suddenly got the need for a drink.
OFF: sorry i have been gone for sometime now guys. work had me pretty busy the last couple of weeks.

Mc7 opened his eyes and was blinded by the light, so quickly closed them again. Learning from his experience, he slowly began to open them again, allowing them time to adjust to the harsh light. After a moment or so his pupils had returned to their regular size, giving him an indication that they were now ready to function normally again.
The sight in front of him was a series of panels which looked unfamiliar to the Admiral, and this immediately worried him. This worry soon abetted though as he heard the familiar voice of the Raven's CMO, Dr BeTor. As he began to sit up, he quickly came to realise that the reason the panels has seemed strange to him was because they were on the ceiling of sickbay, and since he had never been in the position of lying on his back in sickbay, it was a sight he had never before seen. Looking around him he seen that sickbay was a busy place today, with injured crewmen being attended to by both the Doctor and her nurses.
Swinging his feet from the bed so he was now sitting on it rather than lying, he decided it was time to see if the strength was returning to his legs as quickly as it was to his mind. He slowly lowered his feet until they touched the ground, and feeling buoyed by the fact that his legs had not collapsed under him he stood up.
As soon as this was achieved the Admiral attracted the Doctor's attention, and from the look on her face she was gearing up for an argument which was about to ensue. Cutting her off before she began, the patient began to speak,
E'Liana, unless I'm in immediate danger of collapsing into a heap, then I've got a situation report to get from Carl. And since I'm standing, and feeling more steday on my feet with every minute that passes I'm guessing I'm not about to collapse. If you have a problem with me discharging myself from sickbay, lodge it with Starfleet Medical.
The Doctor looked as if she couldn't decide whether to drop the issue there and then or go straight to her comm terminal and open a channel to Starfleet Medical. The former must have won over, as she replied informing the Admiral that if he felt any ill affects then to contact her straight away, and returned to the patient she had left to speak to him.
After contacting Carl and requesting he meet the Admiral in the his ready room, he left sickbay and made his way to the Bridge. As the turbo lift doors opened mc7 seen that it wasn't Carl who sat in the Command chair, but rather the Raven's newest officer, Marko Ramius. One thing that struck mc7 after a moment of observing him from the back of the Bridge was that unlike some officers who had sat in the center seat of a starship, Marko looked as if he ought to be there. Some people were born to lead, and mc7 had the feeling Marko was one of them.
Crossing the Bridge, mc7 entered the ready room and went straight to the replicator, ordering a cappuccino coffee. Sitting at his desk, he began to plough through the mountain of reports that had built up over his brief visit to Sickbay. Moments later Carl entered the ready room and quickly brought the Admiral up to speed on the situation.
Given what has happened during my breif incapacitation, I think it's time that we spoke to the remaining Romulan Officers, don't you Carl?
And with that, they left the ready room heading to the guest quarters, which were now heavily guarded. Nodding to the guards at the door to Subcommander Yevin's quarters, they stepped aside and keyed in the commands which told the ship's computer to open the door. Mc7 and Torek entered the room, and did not return for 2 and a half hours.
~~~2 1/2 hours later ~~~
I have to say Sir, we didn't get anything useful out of him. Do you think we'll have any more luck with Donark?
We can but hope Carl! If we want to find out if there is still a saboteur and murderer lose on the Raven, we need to have more luck.
After going through the same procedure with the set of guards at the quarters of Centurion Donark the pair went into the guest quarters. Donark was sitting by the desk, reading a PADD.
Centurion, two of your countrymen are dead and 3 of my crew are in the morgue next to them. Your plan, such as it was, has failed. I need to know what the reasoning behind it was.
I can tell you nothing. My life would not be worth living if I did so. In fact, if I did, I would wish I were dead rather than being alive. Our Masters have ways of ensuring loyalty, and fear is the most effective of those ways.
Ah. I take it your delegation was not a typical Romulan military crew, but made up of Tal'Shiar Operatives then. Which leads me to the question, what do the Tal'Shiar have to gain from infiltrating my crew?
As I said, I cannot speak for fear of the retribution which will surely await me upon our return. If however there were a way for me not to have to face those consequences and remain among your people, I could tell you everything.
Are you asking what I think you are Donark?
The Centurion simply nodded.
I will need to consult with Starfleet over this, but we will return with an answer shortly.
When the two officers left the room, Carl just looked at mc7 and said,
Wow, I didn't expect that!
OCC: I'll put up part 2 tomorrow!
Marko sat in the Captain’s chair still feeling slightly uneasy knowing that the Captain was in SickBay. It just didn’t feel right, Marko’s COMM Badge then beeped it was McLean… =^= McLean to the Bridge =^=
=^= Ensign Ramius here =^=
=^= Ramius we have worked on the Temporary Bulkheads on Deck 10 and have managed to improve the integrity of them to withstand Warp 4. We’ll keep working on it and update the Bridge accordingly, I don’t think we’ll get much more outta them. =^=
=^= Thanks Commander, It’s the first piece of good news I’ve heard all day. Ramius out. =^=
Marko gave the order to the duty Navigation Officer to increase to Warp 3. Marko did not want to push the bulkheads too hard too fast. “Ensign increase our speed to Warp 3.”
“Aye Sir” The Raven made a creaking noise as the jump to Warp 3 was made, Marko was confident having been assured by Commander McLean that the bulkheads would hold up. At that moment the turbo lift doors swished open and the Captain, Mc7_of_9 stepped out, there was almost a gasp from the Bridge crew.
Mc just looked at Marko and nodded obligingly and headed to his Ready room. Moments later the turbolift opened again and Commander Torek exited and joined the Captain in his Ready room. Both men spent some time in the Ready room and then exited, informing Marko that they were going to speak with the Romulans.
~~~~~~ roughly 2 & a half hours later ~~~~~~
Marko had now upped the Warp speed to 4, which meant that the Raven would reach Bellicose in little over 5 days. Marko’s Comm badge beeped, this time it was Commander Jared:
=^= Jared to Bridge =^=,
=^= Marko I have just found a lead, we recovered Romulan dna from the explosion blasts. This directly implicates the Romulans in all of this, we must inform the Captain immediately. =^=
=^= Thank you Reman, I’ll inform the Captain right away. Marko out! =^=
With that Marko quickly tapped his comm badge. =^= Ramius to Captain Mc7_of_9 =^=
=^= Go ahead Marko.=^=
=^= Captain, I have grave news – Romulan dna was found at the scene of the explosion and in the blast remains. This gives you just cause for extensive questioning of the Romulans, Sir. =^=
=^= Thank you Marko, myself and Commander Torek are on our way to the Bridge. I need to contact Starfleet. Mc7_of_9 out! =^=
Marko leant back in the Captain’s chair once more, he was getting used to this and was having thoughts of one day filling this Chair. He didn’t want to get ahead of himself he was an Ensign afterall…
OOC: We're a rocking and a rolling now...

McLean sat back up against the temporary bulkhead that he and his engineering teams just finished installing. The other engineers wanted to test the seal so they may power down the containment fields keeping the dead of space out. McLean on the other hand was content leaving the containment field up. He knew the work they had done was done in haste and there was a number of things that could go wrong if they pushed too much.
“Sir, if you don’t need us anymore we are going to go off duty.” Announced the engineering team leader; a young Vulcan male.
McLean simply waved the team on as he sat on the ground. One of the engineers offered him a hand to get up but McLean politely rejected it, he was too exhausted to get up.
“McLean to Lt. Benson.”
“Go ahead sir.” Benson replied.
“Could you please report to Deck 10.” McLean said.
“On my way sir.” Benson said just before McLean closed the channel.
The day’s activities had given McLean more than enough time to think things over about his life. This small respite was just what his mind needed to finally make that pivotal decision he was trying to make.
After a few more minutes of self-reflection, Benson turned the corner and found McLean sitting up against the side of the corridor. Bensons eyes opened wide as he saw the Chief Engineering sitting alone in the damaged corridor, blood all over his hands from nicks and cuts from sharp debris.
“Sir, are you alright?” Benson asked.
“I’m fine,” McLean replied. He then motioned for Benson to sit down next to him, “Have a seat Chet.” Benson looked confused but sat next to McLean despite his awkward feelings.
“You’re a damn good engineer.” McLean said.
“Thank you sir.” Benson replied.
McLean let the air settle before he spoke up again. At first he didn’t quite know how to say what he was going to say so he just had to come out and say it.
“How’d you like to be the Chief Engineer?”
“Sir?” Benson said completely surprised.
“I’m done with this,” McLean started, “I’m losing my wife, my child. I’m slowly turning into an alcoholic, over what? This?” McLean said gesturing to the damaged corridor.
“Sir, I don’t really think now is the time for rash decisions.” Benson said.
“The job is yours.” McLean said, this time he pushed off Benson’s shoulder and stood above him, “I’m going to send in my resignation first thing tomorrow morning.”
Benson scrambled to get to his feet. As he did McLean grasped his right hand in a shaking action. Benson’s eyes went down to his hand then back up to McLean.
“Congratulations Chief.” McLean said. He let off a small grin before letting go of Benson’s hand. With out saying another word, McLean turned and left Benson standing alone on Deck 10.

"Wow .. I didn't expect that ..." Carl said, as he and the Captain stood outside Donarks quarters ..
"This is something for the Federation." Mc7 said, "I'll have to contact Admiral Clark and bring him fully up to date .. I'm not sure how he's going to react .. Especially as we're almost a week away .. I'd hate the Romulans to get wind of whats going on Carl."
"Aye Sir ..." said Torek, as the two entered the turbo-lift, "Bridge." Mc7 ordered.
As the two Senior Officers entered the Bridge, Ramius got up from the Captain's seat. He watched discretely as the two stood close to the ready room door, speaking quietly for a few moments. 'Obviously, need to know' Marko thought .. Mc7 entered his office, and Carl came to sit in his own seat ...
"How we doing Marko ?" the Exec asked.
"We're currently at warp four Sir .. ETA at Bellicose is now down to five days .. Commander McLean went to take charge of the repair crews on deck ten approximately three hours ago .. It sounds like he's worked wonders down there."
"Are we still limited to warp four then ?"
"For the moment .. Yes .. Scott will update the Bridge as and when we can increase speed .. But he's worried about the structural integrity of the temporary bulkheads .. So it's warp four and five days' travel time ..." Ramius finished.
"Five days too long ..." Torek said, under his breath.
"Sorry Sir ?" the COO said, thankfully not quite catching the remark.
"Nothing Marko .. Sorry .. Thinking out loud there .." Carl said, shrugging, "Have you had a break yet ?"
"No Sir .. but I'm ......."
"Go to the mess." Torek interrupted as Ramius hesitated, "Get a coffee and a bite to eat .. Don't worry Lieutenant I'll look after the ship .. I'm sure you will get to sit here again .. Very soon .. Now go !" he finished, grinning ..
"Aye Sir." Marko said, heading for the turbo-lift.
As Carl watched the stars streaming by on the view-screen, 'Was I ever that eager' he wondered to himself with a smile ..........

"Aye Sir." Marko said, heading for the turbo-lift. Marko had been reluctant to leave the Bridge as he was not sure where the Mess was and of course he liked to know what was going on… As he was leaving he slyly grabbed a PADD from the duty Opps Officer with the progress updates on it. Once aboard the turbo lift, he asked the Computer: “What deck is the Messhall on?” – “Deck 2” came the response.
Marko took the turbo lift down to deck 2 and after a few minutes of searching he found the messhall.
He went up to one of the large replicators and ordered a cup of tea with milk and one sugar and a plate of Macaroni Cheese. (His mum made the best macaroni cheese he had ever tasted and he hoped the replicated Macaroni cheese would remind him of home.)
He sat down at a table on his own had a sip of his tea and began to review the information presented on the PADD. He looked up to see how many fellow crewmen were around but there was barely a handful… it was late... Marko got back to eating his Macaroni cheese & reviewing his PADD, the macaroni cheese didn't really remind him of home - It just wasn't the same.
Marko was feeling a little fatigued and decided to head to his quarters for a shower and a change of uniform...

McLean limped in through the doors of his quarters. His back hurt like hell and his hands were still dirty and covered in dry blood. He could tell by the looks of the passing crewmates that he looked like hell.
The doors closed behind him and McLean welcomed the dark front room before him. The only light came from a digital projection of his family. Struggling against the pain in his lower back McLean managed to reach the portrait of him and his family.
He smiled as he remembered the day it was taken, how happy they all were. Looking down McLean’s eyes focused on the reality of today. There lying before him on the floor was the PADD that contained the divorce papers. His ultimatum.
McLean sighed heavily once he recognized the PADD and its contents. Looking back up at the portrait he focused on Stephanie. McLean remembered that he had noted on that day how extra radiant she had looked; her eyes were a brighter blue than normal, her hair seemed to shimmer and shine as it blew in the lite breeze.
McLean was brought back to the portrait by the pain in his back. He chuckled a sadistic chuckle and pushed the portrait aside. Just beyond the portrait in a hidden compartment was bottle upon bottle of his favorite brand of scotch. He pulled the first bottle out and let the portrait slide back into place on its own.
Checking the date on the bottle McLean mused, “Good year.”
His back was hurting him more and more as he walked over to his make shift bar. He picked up the first glass that he came to and that too reminded him of Stephanie; they were a wedding gift from her family. A glass was a glass to McLean at this point.
Opening the bottle, McLean poured himself a glass of scotch. He set the bottle down on the bar and walked with the drink in hand to his couch.
“Computer, open log.” McLean ordered.
Log Open
“Initiate letter of resignation, Lt. Commander McLean Scott, Chief Engineer, USS Raven.
Letter of Resignation Open
McLean waited a moment, looking into his drink as if it was going to have all the words to the emotions he was feeling. Shrugging his shoulders McLean pounded the full glass of scotch.
“Lets get this over with.” McLean said.

After a cool shower Marko changed into a fresh uniform and sat down at the desk in his quarters. Marko decided to get a class of water from the Replicator he added some vitamin supplements to the water as a sort of pick-me up. Marko preferred supplements in water rather than a hypospray full of vitamins, having grown up on a farm he was not used to the modern methods of medicine.
He picked up the PADD he had grabbed from his station and was reviewing the repairs being carried out… Marko decided to go and check out the repairs on Deck 10 for himself and perhaps catch up with Commander McLean.
He took the turbo-lift to Deck 10 and found Lieutenant Benson running some scans with his tricorder. “How are the repairs going Lieutenant?” inquired Marko…
“Not so bad, the structural integrity is holding. We still have the containment field in place in the event of any leaks or holes in the bulkhead.”
“Good job Lieutenant, this is one hell of a disaster zone – If you guys hadn’t got to it in enough time more could have died. Where is Commander McLean I thought he was down here?”
“Commander McLean went to his quarters, he has had a hard day…” said Benson
Marko raised an eybrow at this comment from Benson, why would he say that Marko pondered. He then decided to contact Commander McLean, not knowing him very well he was worried that he would get a frosty reception...
=^= Ramius to Commander McLean =^=
=^= McLean here… =^= McLean sounded gruff over the Comm, nevertheless Marko was going to ask to meet him.
=^= I hope I didn’t wake you Commander, You have worked wonders on deck 10 and I was hoping you would come and guide me through the repairs in the messhall and perhaps consider a game of chess? =^= Marko waited in anticipation for the Commander’s reply…

“Ramius to Commander McLean” McLean heard over the COM.
”McLean here…” McLean replied in a very unenthusiastic tone.
”I hope I didn’t wake you Commander, You have worked wonders on deck 10 and I was hoping you would come and guide me through the repairs in the mess hall and perhaps consider a game of chess?”
“Now is not a good time Ensign,” McLean said as he poured himself another glass, “Lieutenant Benson is in charge right now if you need a detailed list of repairs for your daily report just ask for him.”
“Well…I’ll be in the mess hall if you change your mind.” Ramius said.
McLean closed the channel and leaned back on his couch. He still hadn’t changed clothes or washed up since coming back to his quarters. He knew how he must have sounded to the young Ensign but he didn’t care at the moment. He had something to do and he wasn’t going to let anything stop him.
“Computer, resume document.” McLean ordered. The computer chimed letting him know that he can begin to dictate again. He poured himself another glass, pounding it back just as quickly.
“Damn.” McLean said, “Computer stop recording.” Again the computer chimed.
McLean forced himself up off of his couch and walked into his bathroom. He pulled off his duty uniform and hoped into the sonic shower.
“Lt. Benson to Commander McLean.”
“Go ahead Chet.” McLean replied.
“I have an Ensign Ramius requesting a copy of the damage report and our repair logs, shall I give it to him?”
“No,” McLean said as he turned off the shower, “I’ll give it to him. Please let him know I will meet him in the mess hall.”
“Aye sir. Benson out.”
McLean reached into his closet and pulled out a regular duty uniform. Normally he would wear a uniform that he had made custom for him. The uniform had cargo pockets on the legs and several pockets and slits on the front of the duty jacket for several small devices.
He was out the door with in ten minutes and knew that Ramius was probably waiting for him in the mess hall. Just before he left he has the computer quickly compile all the information that Ramius wanted onto a spare data PADD.
It was practically the middle of the night and McLean walked into a nearly empty mess hall. Sitting alone by an empty chess set. McLean straightened his uniform and approached Ramius.
”Ensign, mind if I join you?”

Marko had just headed back from Deck 10 where Lieutenant Benson informed Marko that Commander McLean would meet him in the mess hall afterall. Marko was a little surprised but was eager to speak to the Chief Engineer, he hadn't seen him since McLean was found unconcious... It was practically the middle of the night and McLean walked into a nearly empty mess hall. Sitting alone by an empty chess set. McLean straightened his uniform and approached Ramius.
"Ensign, mind if I join you?”
“Certainly not Commander, have a seat.” Replied Marko as he slid the chair out opposite him with his foot. The Commander sat down in the chair opposite Marko and passed a PADD to him.
“Here is a copy of the damage report and repair logs from our repair teams on Deck 10, my teams have been working round the clock. Its been a hard day, Ensign …” Said McLean as he gave out a sigh.
“It has indeed Commander, you and your teams have done a stellar job in getting this ship moving again. So how about you tell me about all the repairs over a game of chess? And hows that head of yours?” Asked Marko...
Marko looked across at McLean, waiting for him to respond as he let out what seemed to be a half smile, he wasn’t sure if that meant he was good or if he was laughing at the eagerness of the young Ensign for chess.
