Arya sat there listening to the whole thing, and she wasn't sure how she could help. She wanted to do more, be helpful in some way, but she didn't know how.
She heard that Steve was going down to the planet. She decided to speak up before he even left his chair. "Steve, I don't think you should go down there. Let someone else do it, maybe even me. If we lose you too, then what? Please don't go down there," she said looking at him. She didn't know what it was, but she didn't want him down there.
Arya sighed, and picked up a padd. She didn't think he had heard her, and she didn't like feeling ignored. She started to write something down.

Steve went and crouched down next to Arya and leant closer to her so that he couldn't be heard.
"I have to go down there. The Admiral was kidnapped under my watch, and I will get him back if it's the last thing I do. I owe him that." Steve looked into Arya's eyes, and kissed her.
"I will be fine, I promise. Nothing is going to happen to me. Mark my words. Besides, I've got a good team with me. In and out, as quick as that." With that, Steve stood back up and headed towards the lift again, with a small unnoticable tear forming in his eye. He checked his hand phaser was charged and ready. Even though he would more than likely but using a phaser rifle, he still made sure of his personal phaser just in case it was needed.

As Carl double-checked the Opps readouts before handing the station over, he noticed the Captain's wife speaking quietly .. He also noticed the Captain talk to the Councellor, placing a small kiss on her cheek, before heading towards the lift...
They needed another pair of hands .. The Captain was .. preoccupied .. so Carl made the call ...
"Commander Zoarial, you are with the away team." he said.
Ra'wl' jumped out of his seat, he needed some sort of distraction from looking at the view screen and his console. He entered the turbo lift with the Captain and second Officer ...
As they entered the transporter room, several of the Security staff were already there, double-checking their sidearms and phaser rifles .. they also had rifles for the three Officers .. Each took their's, and checked the power status and current setting .. Heavy Stun.
Once everything had been checked they all stepped onto the transporter.
"Where are you setting us down ?" asked the Captain.
"We are monitoring the Admiral's progress through the town .. I'm going to set you down approximately one hundred meters, two streets, in front of their current heading, it 'should' be an alley." said the Transporter Chief.
"Very well .. Everyone ready." Smith asked, then receiving nods all round, "Energize."
~~~~~
Seconds after feeling the transporters grip, the team arrived in a dark alley .. The Security team fanned out, covering every angle of attack .. Captain Smith watched the end of the alley for guests. Commander Zoarial checked his tricorder for signs of their objective ...
"The Admiral is ninety six meters away and heading in our direction .." he stated, "Five others are currently with him .. All five are armed !"
Carl signaled the Security Officers ...
"OK .. Get into position, either side of the route .. Be aware of cross-fire .. I don't want us shooting each other .. Check your weapon setting .. Heavy stun only .. The Captain doesn't want any deaths if it can be helped."
Torek checked that his orders were understood before turning to Smith ...
"Anything else Captain ? ..........
"I think you hit the nail on the head, Lieutenant." Steve replied and smiled. He re-checked his phaser rifle for possibly the fifth or sixth time. He was really relishing the chance to have some proper action again. He hadn't been in this kind of situation since he was CTSO back on the El Salvador a few years ago.
'Focus Steve, focus.' He thought to himself, snapping out of his reminiscing. 'Think of the present, not the past.'
He stayed in position as the Admiral and his captors approached. They stopped dead in their tracks about 50 meters away, and began conferring between themselves. At that moment, Steve thought he and his team may have been spotted somehow, but that thought quickly subsided when the group began moving again.
After about 30 seconds or so one of the security team fired unexpectedly and hit his target, who fell to the floor in a heap. That was when all hell broke loose.........
For a few seconds, phaser-fire was everywhere .. Red and blue beams of pure energy pierced the dark of the alley .. Then. as everyone found cover the firing slowed ...
"We want the Admiral." Captain Smith shouted.
"Do you think anything you can do to us would be worse than what we would face if we return 'without' him." came the reply, "No, I'm sorry 'Star fleet', but he stays here." A volley of phaser-fire punctuating the statement ...
Carl had seen the Admiral, he'd been kicked from behind and was now behind one of the storage pods littering the alley.. Torek began to slowly make his way around the outer edge of the alley, hoping at the least to get a clear shot of the person guarding the Admiral, and if possible, get a weapon to Mc7..
Suddenly, a brilliant beam of light flashed past Carl, missing by millimeters, but not aimed at him. Because behind him, a Security Officer spun from the hit into the open. He was hit several times and hit the floor, obviously dead !
Torek touched his Comms badge and in a whisper, spoke to the Captain..
=^= Sir .. Their weapons are set to 'kill' .. Not stun =^=
Smith had to think, and quickly, if they thought they were about to loose, they may kill the Admiral and suffer the consequences .. Star fleet must have him back, if this assault fails it's more than likely that he'll not be seen again ...
=^= Smith to all personnel .. Reset weapons to kill .. Repeat .. Reset to kill =^=
Everyone made the required adjustment ...
As shots were traded Carl could now see the Admiral once again, but he could only see the captor partially. He needed to get across a small gap, only four feet, but four feet for the captors to spot him .. Then he had an idea ..
=^= Torek to Zoarial .. I need you to set a hand phaser on forced overload and throw it toward the small outcrop on the left of the alley .. Not into the gap though, as thats were I'm going to be =^=
Getting into position to open fire Ra'wl' set the phaser and threw it were directed ...
Seconds later Carl heard the unmistakable whine of a phaser on overload .. The others heard it too and began to run from concealment to escape the inevitable explosion .. One or two made it the the far side of the alley, but several were easily 'picked off' as they ran .. Carl used the confusion to get across the gap and up against a metal stanchion, hoping this would shield him from the blast .. He didn't have long to wait to find out .. The explosion threw him to the ground but he was out of sight and better still, could now see his objective.
Removing the power pack from his phaser rifle, he threw the weapon over the Admiral's head. The resulting clatter caused the captor to spin .. Carl shot him instantly.. Then, moving to where the Admiral sat, he began to untie his hands ..
"Admiral Mc7 of 9 .. I'm lieutenant Carl Torek, COO of the Raven .. We're here to get you out." ..........
Zoarial was glad that he finally had an oppertunity to meet some action. He had been forced to stay at his position at all times to allow the Raven to safely get away from any potential dangerous situation. David Vegas somehow caught a serious fever and Zoarial didn't find anyone else on his team capable of handling in crisis situations.
Due to his 'imprisonment' Zoarial had missed a lot of what was going on, but before he was able to catch up with the recent developments there was phaser fire everywhere.
=^= Torek to Zoarial .. I need you to set a hand phaser on forced overload and throw it toward the small outcrop on the left of the alley .. Not into the gap though, as thats were I'm going to be =^=
Zoarial nodded, although Carl couldn't see that, and obtained a phaser from on security member that was shooting rather poorly. He set the phaser to forced overload, for which he had to override a small security barrier and smiled broadly when a big bang could be heard together with several bodies being airborne
"Name and rank?" Zoarial inquired from the person who had 'lent' him the phaser.
"Ensign Leeroy" the marine answered, a bit flabbergasted that his phaser had just gone up in smoke.
"Last name please," Zoarial repeated impatiently. "I've got better things to do than stating the obvious."
"That's Leeroy sir. Tom Leeroy" the answer came silently.
"Then you should have stated your first name as well." Zoarial said and made a mental note that this Leeroy person needed some serious training, both in etiquette and shooting.
With a big phaser rifle Zoarial jumped up out of his hiding place and succesfully tracked down and disabled the few who were able to escape the phaser explosion. He then proceeded to the location of Carl and Mc7 to cover their backs, slightly dissapointed that the excitement had ended just as soon as it had begun... for him at least
Zoarial and Torek stayed with the Admiral.. He attempted to stand, but Ra'wl' placed a hand on his shoulder, urging him to stay put.. "I wouldn't stand Sir .. I cant be One Hundred percent sure we have secured the area." Mc7 of 9 sat, checking over the phaser he'd been given .. 'Scanning the area for something to actually shoot it at' thought Carl. =^= Torek to Captain =^= =^= Smith =^= =^= We have the Admiral safe Sir =^= =^= We will be with you shortly ..... Smith to Security .. Close on Lieutenant Torek's location =^= Peering over the outcrop, Carl could see the Captain and Security team wearily making their way towards them .. One Officer, who had managed to make his way round behind them, was also nearing their position .. Both Zoarial and Torek noticed that he wasn't making any effort to stay low, but was upright, and coming straight toward them ... "Lieutenant ?" shouted Smith. "Here Captain." said Carl, raising his hand above his head, still watching the oncoming Officer. Zoarial now had a look of puzzlement on his face. 'Something isn't right' he thought. "To your left Captain." instructed Carl. "ADMIRAL !!!" shouted the sole Security Officer.... He was standing, looking directly at Mc7.. The hand holding his phaser rising slowly, "You are never going to leave here alive !!!" As he leveled his weapon, Carl and Ra'wl' fired simultaneously, hitting the Officer full in the chest, killing him instantly. "What the Hell ....... " began Smith. "He was about to fire on the Admiral Captain." interrupted Zoarial. "Captain." said Admiral Mc7 of 9 .. Looking down at the now dead Officer, "I think we should get out of here, before we invite even more company." "Yes Sir." said Smith, "Mr Torek ...." Carl touched his Comms badge .. =^= Torek to Raven =^= =^= Commander Reynolds .. Go ahead Lieutenant =^= =^= We have the Admiral .. He is safe and well, but we suffered two fatalities .. Please have us beamed back to the ship =^= =^= Stand by .. Raven out =^= Seconds later, everyone felt the grip of the transporter beams ... then they were back on the Raven-A ... As they fully materialized, Mc7 of 9 staggered forward slightly. Ra'wl' caught his arm for support. seeing this, the Transporter Chief immediately tapped his Comms .. =^= Medical Emergency ... Transporter Room One =^= =^= Acknowledged =^= replied Dr BeTor. The Admiral smiled and waved Ra'wl' off .. He needed to stay on his feet. 'For the next few minutes at least' he thought. Matt Reynolds stepped forward now the Admiral was steady .. "Welcome Back ..... All of you" he said .......... < tag : Mc7 of 9 / Cptn Smith > OCC : I thought we may as well get everyone back to the ship as Ra'wl' had managed to kill the rest of the captors in the alley ... (hope that's OK)
Doctor BeTor entered the transporter room along with two of her medical staff .. Seeing the Admiral, she took out her tricorder and began to check his vital signs ...
"There is no time for this Doct ........ " Mc7 began.
"I will decide what there is 'time' for .. Admiral." interrupted E'liana, almost daring anyone to say otherwise, "You will let me run my scans, or, if you prefer, we can continue this in Sickbay !"
Unamused, Admiral Mc7 of 9 stayed silent while the Doctor checked him over ..
"You are slightly dehydrated .. You are going to need to take on fluids."
"I'll drink all the fluid you care to hand me Doctor, while I'm on the Bridge." E'liana began to protest, but this time Mc7 beat her to it, and kept going, "Then .. Once we have everything under control, I will report to Sickbay for a complete physical, if that meets with your approval, Doctor ..." he finished.
"Very well Admiral." she conceded, turning to Commander Smith, "I'll expect you to ensure he takes on fluid .. I'll be in sickbay if required." with that she headed out with her two staff.
On their way up to the Bridge, Commander Reynolds explained about the ship they had disabled. As the five Officers entered Mc7 could see the ship still floating helplessly close by.
"How many people on that ?" he asked, pointing at the ship on screen.
"Three Sir." replied Carl, who had taken over at Opps.
"Beam them directly to the Brig." Mc7 ordered.
"They're there Sir." Carl confirmed a few seconds later.
"Lock phasers on the ship ... and Fire !" the Admiral ordered.
Due to both ships' low, geostationary orbit, when the ship was destroyed, The Admiral knew that the blast would have been clearly seen in New London colony ...
Taking his seat, a look of determination still on his face, he turned to commander Smith ...
"OK ... Whats our status Steven ..." ..........
Sitting in his command chair as Steven gave him a report on what had happened during his absence mc7 surveyed the Bridge. He didn't expect to be overcome by a wave of emotion upon his return, but he was. The feelings wrapped around him, enveloping his entire body from his head to his toes. ' This is not me', he thought to himself. In general, the admiral was not an emotional person. He had been in similar situations in the past, being held captive without much apperent hope of escape, but he had always managed to maintain a positive attitude that the situation would be resolved and he would once again be fre to control his own destiny. Now, after being rescued and returning to his ship, the feeings which were so ailen to him surround him as the walls of a cell would. The only difference being, mc7 would be able to see the walls of a cell as a problem he could over come. This time it was different. Once he realised that Smith had finished speaking and was now looking at him, obviously waiting on some form of acknolwagement, mc7 spoke. "Commander Smith, prepare all weapons for a full assault."A confused look spread over Steve's face, but he glanced up to the officer at Tactical and nodded, ensuring the Admiral's commands were carried out. "Are you expecting more trouble Sir? Sensors haven't picked up any other ships in the area, and there have been no indications of any weapons on the surface capable of causing serious damage to us.""No trouble Commander. Our target will not be a ship, but rather the planets surface. I want scorched earth. Boil the oceans dry with out phasers, and cave out a new grand canyon with our torpedo's. I want no survivers."Every head on the bridge turned to look at the Admiral as he spoke, and Steve's face went pale. I think this would be a good point for a post from Steve!
OOC: Thanks for that sir.....wasn't expecting THAT one. lol IC: Steve was in shock, to say the least. He had to replay those last few sentances over and over in his head quickly to make sure that he had heard right. What the Admiral was proposing was genocide and unlawful destruction. This was not the same person he knew when he had come aboard the Raven....something serious must have happened during his capture because this was not mc7's behaviour at all. He looked around the Bridge and saw all eyes on him and the Admiral. He had to do something. He was not about to let a whole race be wiped out at his hands. Fair enough, someone needed to be brought to justice for mc7's kindap, but this was not the way to go. "No....sir." Steve said shaking his head, locking eyes with mc7. He turned to the officer manning the Tactical station. "Stand down from that order. Do not, I repeat, do NOT target on anything on that planet. "Sir, can I have a word with you in my....sorry, your Ready Room?" He asked mc7, hoping to try and get him to stop this offensive. Before he recieved his answer, Steve shot a glance to Arya who was sitting in her chair, and tilted his head in a "You come too." gesture. This was not going to be easy.
Torek, along with everyone else on the Bridge, had turned to look in the Admiral's direction as he issued the order to fire on the surface .. Carl was looking at Captain Smith, who, by rite, was still in Command of the Raven.
"No ... Sir." said Smith, looking over at the Tactical Station, "Stand down from that order .. I repeat, do NOT target 'anything' on that planet."
He stood in front of the Admiral, looking him straight in the eye as he, calmly, spoke ..
"Sir .. Could i have a word with you in my.. sorry.. your ready room ?"
Two Officers at the back of the Bridge were talking quietly, but not quiet enough for Torek not to hear them, he turned and spoke to the pair.
"Have you nothing to be getting on with .. Ensigns ?"
The pair immediately turned away and studied the screens in front of them. Carl turned back to see that Mc7 was still seated, with Smith standing awaiting his answer ..
After a moment of complete silence, the Admiral rose, and as the Captain stepped back, he headed for the ready room .. Steven Smith and the Councellor close behind ....
'This needs to be sorted between the two of them' thought Carl. But there 'was' something he could do ...
"Helm." he said, sitting in the Exec's seat, "Take us out of geostationary orbit .. Place the ship in a polar orbit."
"Polar orbit ?" queried Zoarial, frowning.
"Yes." explained Carl, "I don't want New London below us when the Admiral and the Captain return to the Bridge."
Ra'wl' didn't question the order further. As Second Officer, Carl had the Bridge in the absence of Mc7 and Smith .. Seconds later, the view on the screen began to change as the Raven reorientated herself in relation to the planet below.
The ship was now orbiting over both poles, as appose to the standard equatorial orbit .. This way, it would take several minutes to reposition the ship .. If it came to that !
Carl knew that in the circumstances he was taking a risk. He wasn't sure of the Admiral's frame of mind after his ordeal, and could end up suffering for it .. However .. It DID give Captain Smith a little leeway ..
Should he need it ! ..........
E’Liana made her way back to Sickbay to prepare the nutrients for Mc7, he had obviously not been treated too badly, but the human body can be quite weak and right now he needed all the help he could get.
She went through the open door to her office and saw Grilka doing her English ‘homework’ at her desk. Deciding to leave the unusually-quiet child alone, she went to complete her own assignment elsewhere.
A few minutes later, she had the fluids ready for the Admiral, as well as a hypospray for him. Luckily he was not injured so she would not have to tend to any wounds, but grabbed a medical tricorder anyway.
Silently she made her way to the Bridge, wondering to herself exactly when it was that she had started this ‘Doctor on Call’ lark.
The doors to the Bridge opened and she walked out of them in time to hear some rather surprising remarks:
"Are you expecting more trouble Sir? Sensors haven't picked up any other ships in the area, and there have been no indications of any weapons on the surface capable of causing serious damage to us."
"No trouble Commander. Our target will not be a ship, but rather the planets surface. I want scorched earth. Boil the oceans dry with out phasers, and cave out a new grand canyon with our torpedo's. I want no survivers."
She stopped suddenly, alarmed to hear such words from their normally steadfast Admiral and thought that this had obviously affected him more than anyone had previously thought. ~We need the counsellor to take a look at him, not me…~ she thought to herself. ~These aren’t the words of a mentally healthy Starfleet Admiral~
She was aware that Smith had said something and that the Admiral did not seem happy about it at all, but E’Liana was suddenly on auto-pilot and she made her way to Mc7, practically shoving the flask into his hand and jabbing his arm rather brutally with the hypospray, her annoyance at his words seeping through to her own actions.
“May I join your chat, Commander?” She asked Smith, pointedly ignoring his supposed superior. “And may I suggest that the counsellor join us?”
“May I join your chat, Commander?” The doctor asked Smith, pointedly ignoring his supposed superior. “And may I suggest that the counselor join us?”
Steve nodded, obviously thinking it was a good idea to have the CMO involved given the behavior just displayed by mc7.
"Why do it in the Ready Room in that case? Should we not head down to the crew lounge so everyone can gawk?"
The tone of voice employed by the admiral was one that no one aboard the Raven had ever heard him use before. The fact that it was sarcastic wasn't the issue, but it had another quality to it, as if there was an underlying rage seething just below the surface, waiting to escape.
Storming away from the group before anyone had a chance to reply to the jibe, the former Borg went to the ready room. The three officers swiftly followed him, unsure of exactly what to do when they got there. When the doors to the ready room closed behind them, they were still no closer to know. That didn't stop the XO from beginning the, what was obviously going to be, interesting discussion.
"What you just attempted to do, not only does it violate a whole lot of laws, but it is against everything that Starfleet and the Federation stands for. I'm not sure any explanation you could give us would justify it, but I've got to ask. Why?"
The expression on mc7's face remained the same as it had since before they entered the ready room. It almost looked like disgust at being asked to justify himself.
"No matter what I say you've clearly already made up your mind, Commander"
Steve couldn't be sure, but it almost sounded as if the admiral had accentuated his rank, as if he was trying to give him a reminder of his place aboard the Raven.
"I'm sorry to have to do this, but I am relieving you of command of the Raven. It's clear that you've undergone some event during the time you were held captive and this is still affecting you deeply. I want you to report to sickbay immediately where the doctor will run a complete physical on you. And that wasn't a request.
Arya sat in on this, and was in the corner being silent. ~Why is he being like this? I don't know him well enough, but I don't remember anything like this last time he was here.~ She thought, then heard the order for a physical.
"What would that accomplish exactly? Something is wrong with his mind, not his body. That would be my area not the good doctor's. No offense E'Liana, and if you still want to run a physical on him, okay. However he needs to talk to me," she said and looked first at Steve before looking at Mc7. She wasn't sure what was going on, but he looked very defiant right then.
"Admiral, we can do this easy or hard, its up to you. The easy way, you come with me to my office we have a nice little chat. The hard way, we stay right here and air it all out in front of both the commander and doctor. The choice is yours, but either way I will win, don't hold any room for doubt on that," Arya said getting a little rough. She thought it might be necessary. ~Why is he acting like a spoiled little child?~
With the Admiral's last words, it seemed to Steve like he was trying to put him in his place as an officer in lower rank to himself. It made no odds to Steve because regardless of rank, he was placed in command of the Raven for this mission by Starfleet, and until it is over he will remain in command, whether mc7 is there or not.
Something was bugging him though. The way the Admiral was talking and acting just didnt seem right at all. It felt as if something was missing, in a way.As he was standing there contemplating the next move, Arya informed mc7 that she wanted him to go to her office to try and talk it out.
'Thats not going to solve anything, dear' He thought. 'There is something else here, I know it.'
Moving in to interrupt what was being said, he turned to face both Arya and Admiral mc7. He sighed inwardly trying to work out how to diplomatically make his suggestion. "That is a wise idea, Commander, but.....first the Admiral needs to go to Sickbay. We need to run a few tests on him. We don't know what may have happened to him down on the surface, and once these tests have been conducted, THEN I will release him unto you." He turned to look at the Admiral, aware that he talking as if he wasn't there. Mc7 just stared blankly at him.
Carl had moved the Raven .. In their current orbit, it would take several minutes to reposition to be able to fire on the Colony .. He had watched as The Admiral, Captain Smith, The Doctor and Councellor had entered the ready room ...
It was blatantly obvious, not only to Carl himself, but everyone on the Bridge who witnessed the 'confrontation' between Smith and the Admiral, that something was very wrong !
He needed something for the Bridge crew, and himself, to be getting on with ...
He walked over to Opps..
"Are you still scanning the surface Ensign ?"
"Yes .. Nothing happening at the moment Lieutenant." she replied.
"Long range ?"
"I'm running scans .. We're over the equator at the moment, but I'll run my next scan as we pass over the pole."
"OK." he said, moving back toward the Command area.
"Lieutenant." said Zoarial from the Helm, "In our present orbit, we won't be able to see anything rising from the surface until it's almost reached orbit."
"But we will have time to get a weapons lock and fire if we have to ?"
"Yes .." Ra'wl' replied.
"OK." Carl said, sitting down, "Keep a sensor lock on New London .. 'If' they decide to send something up lets make sure we can see it in plenty of time to have more than one option."
Commander Zoarial touched several controls, double checked, then nodded ..
"Done Lieutenant .. We will know they're on their way at least two minutes before they reach firing range .. Not that anything they have could hurt the Raven."
"Thank you Commander." said Carl.
The girl, and the crew from the ship they destroyed were still below .. He wondered idly, if anyone here, or at Starbase Bellicose were going to be able to get anything out of them ..
He looked over at the closed door to the ready room .. Wondering just how things were going in there ..........
E'Liana was about to protest to the Counsellor's comments when Smith did so for her. With a rather childish feeling of one-upmanship, she looked to the Admiral.
"You can come with me with dignity or you can make me call security. I have no qualms about this so it's up to you." She glared at him, and suddenly everyone became aware of her being part Klingon.
In sickbay the Admiral sat on a biobed whilst E'Liana completed various tests, watching out of the corner of her eye where the secuirty officer was. He was wandering around the room, obviously bored of having to be guarding the commanding officer of the vessel.
"I believe that once these tests are completed, you'll have to be placed in the brig. If our counsellor wishes to see you, she shall have to go down there. With you being part-Borg, there is a hightened security risk, so don't try to argue..."
The doctor said as she continued her tests on the Admiral.
Say what you will Commander, but just remember who outranks who here, and that good old Klingon saying, Revenge is a dish best served cold.
If it had been an attempt by the ships relieved CO to intimidate her it was doomed to failure from the moment it was concieved.
After she had finished speaking two burly security guards approached on either side of him, and asked him to accompany them to the brig.
What's the point in asking if it isn't an option?
came the cold harsh reply. One of the guards actually blushed at being reprimanded so by the Admiral, but the embarrissment soon faded and mc7 was on his way to brig.
Meanwhile in the observation lounge the rest of the senior staff were discussing the circumstances since mc7's rescue.
".......... drugged, and made to give up the command co ........."
".......... came close to destroying the Raven whe .........."
".......... killed two of his own men in New Lond .........."
".......... shot the Doctor and now Commander Reyn .........."
".......... idiot was going to obliterate the whole of New Lon .........."
Carl had been sat quietly, in the Observation Lounge. Listening to the umpteen rumors that were floating around the room regarding the Admiral's 'condition' ... But the last comment was more than enough ... It was more than obvious that no-one knew what was actually going on ... Seeing as Carl hadn't been at the meeting in the Captain's ready-room, he too was non the wiser ... But he knew that he needed to put a stop to the speculation 'before' it did irreparable damage to morale. He listened for a few more seconds, then stood and cleared his throat ..
"OK .. Everyone ..."
He waited patiently for the chatter to die down before continuing ...
"Let's put a stop to all the rumor-mongering .. We will be informed of the situation as and when the Captain sees fit .. Wild speculation and guessing is not going to help anyone !"
"Is it true that the Admiral shot and killed the Doctor Lieutenant ?" asked a young Ensign.
"NO !" Stressed Carl, "It's not true .. That, is just the sort of statement that will end up doing much more harm than good .. So I want it nipped in the bud .. Right now !"
"But what about the two Officers he sh ..... " began another Officer, before Carl interrupted him ..
"The Admiral .. Is in Sickbay .. He's being checked out fully, after his ordeal on the surface .. Nothing more .. Nothing less .. The rumors stop .. Here and Now !"
Carl looked at everyone in the room for a full minute, then headed out into the corridor, leaving a silent room to ponder his statement. He decided to head back to the Bridge ... In the turbo lift he thought about contacting Captain Smith, or the Exec', thinking that as Second Officer he should at least know 'something' of what was going on, if he was to fulfill his role on ship ...
But decided, to take his own advice and wait to be informed by Captain Smith or Commander Reynolds ..........
Steve had left Sickbay when Admiral mc_7 was being examined. As it was going to take a while for the results to come through, mc_7 had been taken to the brig, and Steve saw no need to stick around for now. He had sent a communique for the senior staff to assemble in the Observation Lounge. That was about 20 minutes ago, so he hoped that they had arrived by now.
Before he headed for the lounge, Steve quickly made his way to the bridge to check on things, and partly to see if any of the senior staff were left behind. The doors to the bridge opened, and with a quick glance around, everything seemed to be in order. Just before he stepped away from the doors, and ensign saw him standing there and looked at him with confusion. Steve just smiled at him as the doors closed.
Just as soon as the bridge doors closed, Steve turned round and bumped into Lt. Torek. "Lieutenant, aren't you supposed to be in the lounge with the rest of the senior staff?" He asked.
<Carl>
"Alright, well I am heading back there now. Let's go then, shall we?"
He was quite worried about the Admiral...and hoped that the test results would come up with some answers for his odd behaviour. For now, all he could do was wait, and get things straight with his staff.
Torek had headed for the Bridge when he left the others .. But as the lift stopped he almost walked straight into the Captain ...
"Lieutenant Torek .. Aren't you supposed to be in the lounge with the rest of the Senior Staff ?"
"Yes Sir .. I was just there." replied Carl, wondering whether to bring up the subject of the escalating rumors, "I thought I'd check on our status before returning to the meeting."
"Well everything's fine on the Bridge Carl." the Captain assured him, then, noticing Torek's hesitation, spoke again, "Is there a problem i should know about Lieutenant ?"
"Well." said Carl, deciding that the Captain should know the 'mood' of the meeting he was about to hold, "I've had to put a stop to some ... Rumors ... Regarding the Admiral, Sir ..."
"Rumors." said Captain Smith, shaking his head, "Well they 'had' to start sooner or later .. You can't go around threatening to annihilate a whole colony without 'someone' wondering about it .. Though a little, speculation, never hurt anyone" he finished, smiling ...
They had reached the doors to the lounge ..
"Sir..." said Carl, holding back, "Is there 'anything' you can tell me about the Admiral's .. Condition .. Before we go in ?"
Captain Smith seemed to need to give the question a little more thought than Torek deemed necessary, before finally answering ...
"He's in Sickbay having tests.. We'll know much more when they are completed and the Doctor gets here to appraise us .. But .. One thing I'm almost positive of .. That person down there is not 'OUR' Admiral !"
Carl was about to question his reasoning on this statement but the Captain silently motioned toward the doors .. Torek stepped forward thus activating the door and Smith entered the lounge .. Closely followed by his deeply frowning Second Officer ..........
Once Steve and Carl entered the lounge, everyone stopped talking and look towards them. Steve turned and nodded to Carl who went and took his seat. Steve moved over to his, but rested against it rather than sitting down.
"As you by now know, we seem to be having a bit of trouble with our admiral. He doesn't seem himself at all."
At this point Steve sat down, with a sigh. "He has had tests run on him in Sickbay, and is currently in the Brig while we await the results of those tests. To me, it seems as if this isn't even the same person. I have never known mc7 to act in that way, its totally not his character."
He looked around the room, at everyone looking at him. "What do you make of it?" He asked, opening the floor for debate.
"Sir ... " said Carl, after checking that no-one else was about to speak, "I don't know the Admiral as well as everyone here, not having served with him .. But, from his reputation alone, I know he would never order the destruction of the Colony, even after whatever he may have been put through on the surface .. Is it possible he's been, cohered, even brainwashed, and it's backfired, causing him to try to open fire on the very people who have done this to him ?" "It's possible yes ..." the Captain said, mulling over the idea in his head, "We will know if he's been 'altered' in any way, when the Doctor submits her report." "Captain." said Ra'wl', "I'm concerned that the Admiral is being held in the Brig .. Surely his rank alone would warrant his being confined in his own quarters !" "Even though his Command Codes are null and void." offered Carl, looking at the Captain "He could still do irreparable damage to the Raven should he get out." "I've got to agree with Carl on this, at least for the time being .. He stays where he is !" said Smith, touching his Comms badge. =^= Captain to BeTor =^= =^= BeTor .. Go ahead =^= =^= How are the tests progressing Doctor ? =^= =^= Almost done .. I'll join you soon .. BeTor out =^= The conversation continued, with everyone bringing up one point or another while they awaited the Doctor .. A thought came to Carl, but it seemed almost 'silly' at first .. Maybe the Admiral hadn't been subjected to any form of mind control, maybe this wasn't THE Admiral !... No .. The Colony didn't have the technology to clone, or replicate a person, at least, as far as he knew they didn't .. He decided to keep the thought to himself for the moment, seeing what E'liana had to say on her tests when she arrived .......... < tag : All at the Meeting >
mc7 sat on the bed with his back to the cell wall. He had never realised how small these places were until now. Calling to the security officer who sat behind the console infront of the row of cells, mc7 made his first attempt to breach his confinment.
Lt, It's clear that the XO is suffering from some form of problem. As such we must ensure that he is not in a position to do any harm to the ship or the planet. Let me out of here and we'll make sure that doesn't happen.
I'm sorry Sir, I can't do that. I'm under orders to ensure that you stay exactly where you are.
mc7 did not like the reply, and the tone of his voice when he answered showed this clearly,
Your under orders?
The Admiral bellowed. There was a hint of rage within his voice, which no member of the crew had ever seen.
I'm an Admiral, please do tell who could possibly give you an order that could superceed anything that I say?
Commander Smith. At the moment your orders carry absolutely no weight. You have been relieved of duty, and as such you are going no where until I am ordered to move you by Commander Smith. So the choice is yours Admiral, you can either sit in silence or continue your rambling, but I can assure you, it will fall on deaf ears, Sir.
The hint of rage that was in the former borgs voice a moment before was now gone, but within his eyes there was now a look of utter hate.
Arya listened, and wondered if what they were suggesting was correct. ~Could it be possible he has a twin? What are the odds that they both were taken by the borg though?~ She thought feeling troubled by all that was happening. She knew there had to be something, but she wasn't sure what it was. ~Maybe they are onto something with their thoughts.~ She thought, and noticed Carl. She got up, walked over, and sat down next to him.
"What exactly are you thinking right now? Whatever it is, it seems important. I can tell," Arya whispered not wanting the rest to hear just then. She wasn't sure, but she felt like he was thinking deeper than she was.
(Carl)
"Why didn't you say so? That could be important. I would have shared mine with the group, but it seemed unlikely. If you share yours, I will go first and share mine with the group," she said not really wanting to share her thoughts about the admiral having a twin, but she hoped it would get him to agree and share with the group.
