McLean sat at the foot of his bed with his head held in his hands. He hadn’t the slightest idea what was going on, there were too many questions that needed to be answered and he hadn’t the faintest idea where to start. As he sat doing anything he could to keep his mind from racing all night long he heard the sound of cartoons being played from Vanessa’s room. The sound of his child laughing was the only thing that brought a smile to McLean’s face. The fact that she was able to go about her normal life after her mother’s death was also something that McLean envied.
Lying down in his bed McLean started to feel as if he was getting comfortable. It wasn’t long before his comfort was interrupted by the sound of an incoming message.
“Typical.” McLean said as his eyes popped open with the second, louder confirmation beep. Pushing his exhausted body up off his bed McLean staggered to the small computer console in his bedroom.
Commander Torek to all Senior Staff ... Please attend a Staff meeting at zero eight hundred tomorrow morning ... Torek out.
“Oh good,” McLean said, “junk mail. I can’t believe I got out of bed for this.”
With a few keystrokes McLean forwarded the message to Lt. Commander Benson in hopes that he hadn’t received the same message. Included in the copied text was a brief message McLean wrote just in case Benson already had received this same message.
“Send.” McLean ordered and walked back to his bed. Just as before flopped back onto his bed, smashing his face deep into his new pillows. With a few deep breaths he let his body relax in hopes that he would drift off to sleep quickly.
“Now what?” McLean said with the sound of a second incoming message, “This had better be good.” McLean grumbled as he got out of bed for the second time.
Scott,
Could you go in my place? I have some important things I need to get done tomorrow morning and I can’t fit the meeting into my schedule.
Chet.
“Important things? Yeah, more like an extra hour of sleep.” McLean joked to himself before sending a brief message back to Benson.
By now McLean had his fill of sleep depriving interruptions and opted to turn his communications settings to private and let the computer store all incoming transmissions until the morning. This time when McLean slid into bed he was able to fall sound asleep with in a few minutes.

Marko arose from his sleep… he rolled over and punched the computer terminal - the time displayed on screen: “07:01” Marko sighed, just under an hour until the mission briefing. Marko pulled himself up checked his computer terminal for any messages, None – Marko smiled, he was still bleary eyed from his sleep and having no crisis’s to deal with was always a good thing to awake too.
Marko had a quick shower and then reached into his wardrobe and grabbed a fresh duty uniform. He straightened it out and decided to head for Ten Forward for a quick breakfast. Arriving at Ten Forward, it was filled with duty personnel getting ready for their shift to start. Marko couldn’t see any of the senior staff, so just found himself a table and grabbed a cup of tea and a bowl of corn flakes. This age old breakfast was how Marko liked to start his days, sitting back down he retrieved his padd with department reports and inventory checks from the ‘skeleton shift’.
Marko reviewed the padds, everything seemed to be in order so he thumb printed them to give his authorisation and forwarded them to the XO. Reading the time from his padd it was “07:32”, Marko decided to head to the Bridge and see that was happening before the briefing. Reaching the Ops Console, Ensign Riza was on duty and went to step aside as Marko came aboard the Bridge. Marko shook his head he walked up next to Riza, keeping his voice down.
“Anything interesting happen whilst I was away?” Marko asked
“No, nothing interesting. A couple of inaccuracies in the inventory caused a bit of a scare down in Engineering – when I say scare, they misplaced one of their tools.” Riza and Marko laughed…
“That doesn’t surprise me, engineers eh? Nothing but glorified grease jockeys.” That was an in-joke in Ops, with Ops Officers referring to Engineers as grease jockeys, it was just some harmless banter.
“Well I’ve got a briefing to attend, catch up with you later?” Marko smiled.
“Definitely.” Replied Riza smiling.
Marko arrived at the briefing room 10 minutes before the Briefing was due to begin. He was the first to arrive and chose his seat carefully, close enough to the door he could get out quickly and far enough in so it looked like he wasn’t wanting to leave as soon as it begun. Swinging on his chair waiting for everyone to arrive Marko hoped he had brought everything he would need. He was getting curious as to what their mission involved…

Mc7 entered the briefing room to see that all of the senior officers were already there and seated. Some of them were making small talk until the briefing began, while others seemed engrossed with their PADD's. Mc7 was pleased to see that when he entered the room it did not go quiet. This was one of those small things that commanders began to notice after a length of time in command. The crew were finally accustomed to him, but more importantly, they were comfortable with him. The one person who certainly did not seem comfortable was sitting at the side of the room, not at the table. The scene reminded the Admiral of a child being cast out of the group in a school classroom.
Taking his seat at the head of the table, mc7 gathered the PADD's he had been using for his research before him, and began to speak.
As you should all know, the Raven is currently en-route to the Windsor Sector. This region of space is very similar to the Badlands near the Bajoran sector and the Goldin Discountinity, in that it has a very high concentration of plasma storms. The area has never been surveyed at close range, and the Raven has been dispatched to carry out that survey.
As mc7 finished his sentence, there were a few faces pulled around the table, to which mc7 felt the need to reply to.
Believe me when I say, I agree with those of you around the table that the Raven is perhaps not the best ship for this particular assignment. It could be much better handled by a smaller, dedicated science ship. I, and by the looks of some of the faces around the table here think others as well, think that a ship such as the Ravens hould be heading out towards the boundaries of the Federation, not inwards. But alas, we are all subject to the chain of command, and we go as we are ordered.
We should be arriving in the Windsor sector in approximately two hours, so can we please ensure that the Science Dept is fully prepared for a full site survey. Doctor, this may be a good time for you to catch up on some of the crew physicals which are due.
Engineering will of course be supporting the Science department to get the best possible readings, while I'm sure the security department could use this fairly quiet time to conduct some surprise battle drills. Of course, don't pass this message onto your departments, otherwise they wouldn't be much of a surprise now, would they.
The last comment had an air of school boy charm about it, which was a sign to mc7 that he too was beginning to feel truly comfortable and at home aboard the Raven.
Ok, unless they're are any questions, then let's make sure we're ready for our arrival.

The room began to clear, with everyone in the mood to work on the mission at hand .. Carl stayed seated, watching the Admiral as he gathered the PADD's in front of him ..
It didn't go un-noticed that Captain James hung back as the rest of the senior staff filed out ..
"Anything I can do for you Captain ?" the Admiral asked casually.
"Well .. I will need to spe ....."
"As a former member of the intelligence corps myself 'Captain' ..." Mc interrupted easily, "I'm pretty sure they taught you the value of taking notice when someone is speaking."
Torek watched the exchange with renewed interest, this was something he hadn't thought would happen, It was rare indeed for the Admiral to 'make his point' in such a manner. He turned to look at the Captain .. Who was taking a breath to speak, but was beaten to it ..
"My senior staff are going to be busy shortly ..." Mc began, rising from his chair, "I expect them to be left alone to do their jobs .. Do I make myself clear !"
"With all due respe ...." Captain James began. But found himself speaking to an empty chair, as Mc had picked up the PADD's and walked out of the room, "Who does he thin ....."
"HE ..." Torek said, trying to match Mc's casualness, "Is the Commanding Officer of this ship .. As such 'he' decides who talks to whom and when."
"I think you may find yourself in error there .. Commander." James said, striding purposely toward the door, Very much in error !"
Carl got up and headed for Mc's office .. Sounding the chime, but walking in before Mc could speak, he leaned with both hand's on the Admiral's desk ...
"WHAT the Hell does that man want ?" Torek began, frustrated ..
Mc was silent for a long moment before replying ..
"Me Carl .. He's here after me."
"You ? ... Why in hell's name woul ......" Carl began, but this time Mc interrupted him.
"I'll give you all the details as soon as I have them .. Now .. Go see to the ship .. Please."
It was the 'please' that convinced Carl that things could be a lot more serious than anyone thought .. He looked at the Admiral, trying to read something, anything, in his face .. It wasn't working .. Not surprising, considering they both played a mean bluff in poker ...
"Mc .. If there's anything ....."
"You'll be the first I come to Carl." Mc said, glancing at the door, "I promise ..."
Torek nodded, and after a few seconds' hesitation, left the Admiral alone with his thoughts ..........

Jed sat for a few moments, thinking about what the officer had said to him, 'take over Ten Forward ' 'take over Ten Forward ', the more Jed thought about as he looked around, the more he liked the idea. "what do you think tom?" he asked the man, who had wondered over to offer a drink to another, younger officer.
"i'd say go for it, if you can liven this place up a bit" Tom said with a grin. Jed looked around a moment before walking up to Tom, offering his hand in a shake. "i'll take it, see you tomorrow in the afternoon, we'll discuss new schedules and the works"

As the briefing began, Admiral Mc gave the senior staff a breakdown of the current mission, Marko listened intently to the Admiral – Marko had been eager to learn what was instore for the ship.
"As you should all know, the Raven is currently en-route to the Windsor Sector. This region of space is very similar to the Badlands near the Bajoran sector and the Goldin Discountinity, in that it has a very high concentration of plasma storms. The area has never been surveyed at close range, and the Raven has been dispatched to carry out that survey."
A survey? Marko thought to himself, looks like I should have a quiet time of it. He looked at his padd and took a note of what he had to do and it looked like he would be checking inventories and co-ordinating scans and resources for the survey. Marko watched as a few heads around the table sunk as they realised it was a survey mission, all but the new Science Office, Lt. Ashley D'Ville who had a smile from ear to ear.
"We should be arriving in the Windsor sector in approximately two hours…"
Two hours, that wont be long now Marko thought to himself as he noted down the Captain’s instructions to each specific department. Marko would help the fellow departments and officers in everyway he could.
As the briefing finished, Marko made his way to the Bridge and to his station. He had noticed Commander Torek, the Captain and James stay behind. Moments later the Captain entered the Bridge and went straight to his ready room and a couple of minutes Commander Torek followed.
Marko punched his console a few times and began to run a ship wide diagnostic over all departments to ensure they were prepped for their arrival in the Windsor system.

Ashley sat and listen at the briefing and heard this was just a survey mission. He grinned.
His mother had there was no thing as a standard survey mission. He pulled his PaDD from behind and started to call you the details of the area they as heading in to and started to calculate probe and ship positions to map the area in standard search pattern. Working the course for the helm to follow to get maximum use from the senors.
The Admiral dismissed the meeting and headed out. Ashley noticed as the last person left stood and left straight for astrometics.
'Computer, display all know data and outer boundaries of the area.' He watch as the plasma storms was arc in the clouds it was beautiful. 'Ok Computer, turn off gravity.' Ashley stomach told him this was a bad idea and he ignored it.
He start to drift around and get into positions and asked the computer to place probes there and to check LOS for the transfer of data to the ship and to the space research center. When this was done Ashley got a quick shower and head to the bridge with the plan in hand and waited nervously in his seat for the last 20 minutes before they arrived.

Jed roamed around the ship endlessly, meeting new people and admiring the ship design. Getting bored in Ten Forward, he had left in order to see if he could offer his services to someone else, anywhere. For some odd reason he had ended up down in the engineering area, which is where he did not want to be. However, after looking at the components and the other stuff he was allowed to(so body didnt let him near the warp core and any other important item) he decided it wasnt so bad.
"Is the CEO around?" he asked the nearest officer, who looked at him and shook his head. "no he had a meeting, and probably wont return until the morning. Did you need to see him?" The officer, a Lt(JG) said being rather helpful. "Oh no, thats ok, i was just wondering who he was and what he was like. The Lt.'s eye told a whole new story about the Engineering officer, but Jed wasnt sure what the story was. "Well, i'm sure you'll be surprised, would you like me to tell Commander McLean you were here?" Jed nodded and thanked the young officer before leaving and walking around some more.
For a few odd reasons, Jed wasnt tired and after thinking about it he was never tired for any reason. Pushing it to the back of his mind, he returned to Ten Forward, where he found himself a nice little corner and started working on a PADD, going over the prices, the schedules of the workers, the entertainment available. After spending a few hours on it, he looked up to see Tom wiping down the counter as he was about to turn over his shift. "Oh Jed, before i leave, i had a question. What time do you think we will be closing this place at the end of the day" Jed thought for a moment before answering, "why would we close, we are never closing, open all day every day." he said, before thinking aloud "unless we get attacked, then we will close, or something else happens" Jed returned to his PADD as Tom sighed and left ten forward.

Carl had re-entered the Ravens' Bridge .. As he sat in the Captains seat, he was more than pleased to see Captain James hadn't followed him .. 'No doubt off snooping for information' he thought .. It wasn't that he had anything against David James, or the Intelligence Corps as a whole, they had a job to do .. But to hound an Admiral for, in Torek's view, no reason, was ridiculous ...
Putting Captain James to the back of his mind, he picked up on of the PADD's left for him while in the briefing .. They were mainly updates from individual departments, showing status and readiness for the task at hand ..
Satisfied, Carl signed off on the reports, adding his thumb-print to each PADD in turn, then handing them to an Ensign ..
Watching the view-screen as they neared their destination, he noticed the duty Helm Officer scratch her head .. Frowning, he walked over to stand beside her ..
"Problem Lieutenant ?" he asked quietly.
"Sir ? .. No Sir." she replied, obviously puzzled at her readings, "I thought I saw something .. Just for an instant .. But it must have been a ghost reading .. From that nearby nebula maybe .. Anyway it's not there now." she finished.
"OK ..." Carl said, looking from her console to the view-screen and then back, "Keep an eye open just in case .. If it happens again let me know."
"Aye Sir." she said, and as Torek moved back to his seat, he wondered briefly if they were going to have company.
"Commander .. We're entering the Windsor Sector now." the Helm Officer stated.
Carl nodded then tapped his Comms badge ...
=^= Torek to Admiral Mc7_of_9 .... We're here Sir =^= ..........

Marko was on the bridge standing at the Ops Station as he watched Carl approach the Helm Officer, Marko assumed they were nearing their destination but the Officer seemed puzzled. Finally the Officer announced "Commander .. We're entering the Windsor Sector now."
Marko smiled, at last he thought. Marko was not convinced by the reasoning for the Raven being chosen for a science mission. Marko knew something else must be there within the Windsor system or else a ship with the Raven’s armaments would not have been sent. He stopped over-thinking the situation and decided to get on with his work.
Marko walked over to Lieutenant D'Ville, he was eager to see the plans for the scanning of the Windsor system. In truth Marko felt it may be something a little more interesting to deal with as currently he was just reviewing systems and running diagnostics and hadn’t received the hourlys yet.
“Lieutenant, do you and your Science team have a plan in place for scanning the system?” Marko asked
(D’Ville)
“I ask so I can arrange the use of probes and how many we will require prepped. Organise shift rotations and shipwide resources needed to contribute to the scans.” Marko replied
(D’Ville)
Lieutenant D’Ville passed Marko a padd with the planned system scan. Marko smiled as he turned to make his way back to his station.
“Thank you Lieutenant, If there is any assistance you require in further preparations or resources just let me know.”

Torek to Admiral Mc7_of_9 .... We're here Sir.
The sound of Carl relaying the message that the Raven broke the silence in the ready room. After Carl had finished, mc7 informed him he would be on the Bridge in a moment. The Admiral had a quick review of the ship's log he had just recorded before entering it into the system, and rose from his chair. Seconds later, the doors to the ready room parted and the Admiral passed through them onto the Bridge.
Carl glanced up from the centre seat which he was sitting in, and seeing the Commanding Officer enter the Bridge stood up and relinquished the seat. Nodding to his XO, mc7 sat in the seat Carl had just left.
Helm, take us in slowly, we don't want to get caught up in any of those plasma funnels.
And at that command, the graceful shape of the USS Raven slowly began to slide forward through space, and enter the plasma storms.
Eleven hours passed and the science department used every minute to conduct a wide range of scans to make sure they got every reading possible, when Marko called out from his station on the Bridge,
Sir, I'm picking up some very strange readings. We're getting gravimetric and vertiron readings that are of the scales. These readings almost look like a wormhole opening.
Directly in front of the Raven space seemed to contort itself, with the blueish hue of the plasma storms beginning to swirl in a circular motion. After a few moments of the swirling, a funnel shot out from the disturbance.
A few seconds later the disturbance disappeared and Marko's panel beeped, telling him that an object had been deposited by the funnel. When the results of the scan Makro ran came back, he thought the sensors had been affected by the disturbance, so he re-ran it. Again, it gave him the same readings.
Admiral, according to the transponder, it's the USS Blair.
Gasps of surprise and shock filled the Bridge as Marko finished speaking. The USS Blair had been missing now for almost three years. It had been on patrol in the Badlands area near the Bajoran sector when contact with it was lost, and nothing had been heard from it again. Until now.

But it will take most of the probes onboard.' answered Ashley. Lieutenant D’Ville passed Marko a padd with the planned system scan. Marko smiled as he turned to make his way back to his station.

'I just need the starboard and port aft lateral array for gas and matter project, there is a full list of experiments and what sensors is needed by my departent on the PaDD.'

Carl stood, moving toward the view-screen as Marko confirmed his readings ..
"The Blair ?" he said, in more puzzlement than question.
"Yes Sir." the Operations Officer said from the tactical station, "It is definitely the USS Blair .. Transponder code is correct."
"Where the hell have they 'been' for the last three years then ?" Mc asked, but no-one seemed to have an answer to that, "Open a channel."
"Channel open Sir."
=^= USS Blair .. This is Admiral Mc7_of_9 .. Commanding Officer USS Raven =^=
There was no reply from the Comms, it remained totally silent ..
"They can hear us Sir." Marko said as Torek looked at him silently asking the question.
=^= USS Blair .. Please respond =^= Mc said, frowning as all they heard was static ...
"Life-signs ?" Carl asked.
Marko checked his scans again before replying ..
"One hundred eighty seven."
"Where's the rest of the crew then ?" Mc said, "There should be almost four hundred people on that ship."
"Helm." Carl said, "Back us off .. One thousand kilometers and hold us there ..."
"Aye Sir." confirmed the duty Helm Officer as the Raven began to back away from the silent USS Blair ...
"Get the Senior Staff up here and in the observation lounge ASAP Carl .. We need to find out whats going on." Mc said, rising from his seat, I'll be in my ready room contacting Admiral Clark."
"Sir .. I'm not sure we can get through to Bellicose from here." Ramius said, apologetically.
"Then try !" the Admiral ordered.
As Mc left the Bridge, Carl took a long look at the ship on-screen .. The Blair had vanished just over three years ago, and here she was, Back .. But silent as a grave .. That concerned Carl ...
"Helm .. Tactical .." he said, looking at each Officer in turn, "Keep every sensor we have locked onto that ship .. Arm phasers but don't lock on .. If the Blair moves match it centimeter for centimeter OK .. Marko .. See what you can bring up on the Blair and her crew .. If anything stands out I want to know !" Torek finished.
Sitting in his seat, he watched the Blair intently ..........

Marko was standing on the Bridge keeping a close eye over the sensor reading as Lt. D’ville was conducting extensive scans of the Windsor system. Just then the sensors flickered as if something was out there, then there it was again – Marko’s jaw dropped in almost astonishment, it was almost like a wormhole was opening… Marko nervously spoke up from his station:
“Sir, I'm picking up some very strange readings. We're getting gravimetric and vertiron readings that are of the scales. These readings almost look like a wormhole opening.”
As Marko had finished speaking, his console beeped and the bridge crew turned to him waiting on his every word. Marko ran the scans, what the hell? He thought to himself, USS Blair? It cant be, he re-ran the scans to make sure:
“Admiral, according to the transponder, it's the USS Blair.” Marko confirmed as the bridge viewscreen flicked on to confirm his hypothesis.
Marko summised, as he got a few odd looks from across the Bridge. Commander Torek stood up and moved towards the viewscreen, Admiral Mc was as shocked as anyone and ordered a channel be opened. After several attempted contacts there was no response… After a life signs scan, they released the crew had more than halfed, Mc and Carl looked baffled – and turned to each other.
Admiral Mc ordered a briefing of the senior staff in the observation lounge… as he left the Bridge to return to his ready room and attempt to contact Bellicose. Carl ordered that Helm and Tactical keep a lock on the Blair and if it moved the Raven was to move too… he then turned to Marko:
“Marko .. See what you can bring up on the Blair and her crew .. If anything stands out I want to know !"
“Aye Sir”, he replied… as he accessed the StarFleet database and tried to find everything he could on the USS Blair. Marko continued to send the comm. of Admiral Mc contacting the Blair, but they had still received nothing in response. Marko couldn’t help but wonder what had happened to them, what had befallen their crew, he knew one thing – this could not be a good thing. Marko had a very bad feeling.
Marko reviewed what he could find on the Blair, a lot of the information had been classified by StarFleet Intelligence. How odd Marko thought as he downloaded the information to a bad, then handed it to Carl.
“Commander,” Marko said “Here is the information on the Blair you requested, there isn’t much there. A lot on the crew, apparently the Captain is a bit of a maverick. But Sir, curiously most of the files on the Blair are classified by StarFleet Intelligence.”
(Carl)
Marko turned to Carl with real worry in his eyes, it felt like something else was going on and there was a subplot to their mission. Marko waited for Carl’s response as the XO paused for a moment to consider the news and its implications.

David had been embarrassed by MC and that was something he could not allow. All officer were taught to put there pride as men and women aside and do the job, but this was different. David had already decided to allow the Raven crew to do there jobs as efficiently as possible without his intrusions. Being a Vice Admiral demanded respect which David would honor, but both of them knew that rank didn't necessarily matter when it came to Intelligence.
"I'll take my leave, Admiral," David said as he walked out of the conference room regaining his composure in the process.
MC was correct in saying that this investigation was directed at him, but there was so much more that he didn't know. There were more people on the Raven that would play an important part in this mission.
"Computer download all classified information on the Windsor Sector and send to my office and that of Admiral MC," David said as he approached a station and began to work. He knew that this wouldn't appease the borg turned Admiral, but it should give him a bit more information on his mission.
They would reach the system shortly and everything he had worked for these years would finally be set into motion.

Marko left Carl to ponder his findings on the padd he had handed him. The Commander was in deep thought, about what Marko was unsure but he knew it best not disturb his friend. Returning to his station Marko continued to monitor the USS Blair, all was eerily quiet something wasn’t right with all of this!
How could the Blair have exited a wormhole and then just stopped, what were they doing? Where were they going? and where had the majority of their crew gone?
These were the questions racing through Marko’s head, he continued to scan the ship and had kept a channel open to the Blair but still nothing. Marko had been working on getting the Admiral a subspace channel open to Bellicose but he was having no luck, as he tapped his comm. badge he had opened the channel it was extremely faint though.
=^= Captain, I have opened a subspace channel to Bellicose but it is extremely faint. There is too much interference from the nebulae. I don't know how long we can maintain it for. =^=
(Admiral Mc)
Marko looked across the Bridge several officers were staring at the image of the Blair on the viewscreen. It was almost like everyone was moving in slow motion, Marko wondered what his orders would be… would they send and away team right now he did not like sitting in limbo.
“Lieutenant D’Ville, how are your scans of the Sector coming? Did you get any useful information before we came across the USS Blair or how that wormhole came into being and from where?”

'No information at this time, I working on a filter to clear up the data signal. Plus switch the link to Bellicose via probe Alpha 3 then it will be boost.'
Ashley filter out all the 23 Mhz noise first that split the signal with a gamma filter and ran the signals side by side and reprogrammed the computer to take the best signal at each point for the display.
'Permission to launch a class 2 probe into the wormhole'

'No information at this time, I working on a filter to clear up the data signal. Plus switch the link to Bellicose via probe Alpha 3 then it will be boost.' Ashley answered, Marko nedded and began to work on touted the channel to Bellicose through one of the Raven’s earlier probes.
“Thank you Lieutenant, signal strength has been boosted by 40%. Good thinking.”
Marko quickly relayed the new information to Admiral Mc who was still in his ready room and the image of the silent Blair still sat in front of the Raven.
The idea to route the signal had not occurred to Marko but it was a good one, Ashley was proving to be a good addition to the Bridge crew. As Marko continued to monitor the Blair, he noticed Carl put down the padd Marko had handed him earlier not sure if he had finished reading it or had just read enough. Whatever was happening Carl was keeping his own counsel, but he knew in due course he would inform him of whatever he had on his mind.
Marko heard Ashley’s voice again this time for permission to launch a probe… 'Permission to launch a class 2 probe into the wormhole'
The request was directed to no-one in particular but Marko looked at Commander Torek, “Sir?” He queried…

Carl was dividing his attention, ninety nine percent was on the USS Blair, while the other one percent was on the door of the Admiral's ready room ..
With no word from Mc, Torek decided to take some action. But then Marko spoke to him ..
"Sir ?" ...
Carl knew the Lieutenant D'Ville had been updating Ramius on the probe, now the Operations Officer was asking permission to launch ..
"Yes .. Launch the probe .. Keep an eye on it though because I'm going to close on the Blair." Torek confirmed, "Helm .. Start to take us back toward the Blair .. Comms .. Keep trying to contact them .. Take us to one hundred kilometers .. I want to take a close look at her."
Carl stood, walking close to the view-screen, almost dwarfed by the size, he almost felt as if he was out on the hull itself .. He tried to pierce the distance between the two vessels, looking for something, anything, that would give them a hint of what the Blair was doing here ..
Slowly, the Raven closed the gap .. Carl heard the turbo-lift doors open and glanced round to see Captain James enter the Bridge. He glanced at the ready-room door, then smiled at Carl ...
'What IS he up to ?' Torek thought as he too glanced at Mc's door ..
"We're getting power spikes from the Blair Commander." said Marko suddenly, "I think she's starting to power up some of her systems."
"Do we have Communications yet ?" Carl asked, ready to halt the Raven's progress instantly if he thought there was any danger.
"No Sir .. They're receiving our hails but just can't or choose not to reply." Ramius said, shrugging.
"Helm .. All stop !" the Exec ordered, "What's our distance ?"
"Two hundred seventy six kilometers." the Helm Officer replied, ensuring the Raven was at station-keeping.
"OK ....." Torek said, then glancing at the Intelligence Officer, who seemed fascinated with the image of the Blair, tapped his Comms badge ...
=^= Admiral to the Bridge =^= he said ..........

Carl responded to Marko after giving his orders due consideration and wanted the Raven to close to the Blair. Marko was shocked by the order, moments before Carl had ordered the Raven to pull back to a safe distance and now they were closing that gap again. Marko focussed on the first order and turned to Ashley and gave his a nod to launch the class two probe as the Raven’s thrusters began to haul the Raven toward the Blair.

As Marko was concentrating on monitoring communications to see if the Blair was attempting to hail the Raven or at least reply to their earlier attempts to contact her but there was nothing. The turbo-lift swished open and Captain James entered the Bridge, turned to Carl and then to Mc’s ready room… there was something peculiar about all this. Marko began to think that James was somehow linked to the Blair, but he had no proof it was just a hunch. Suddenly Marko’s console beeped.
"We're getting power spikes from the Blair Commander." He said suddenly, "I think she's starting to power up some of her systems." Mark looked to Carl for instruction. The Commander asked if the Blair had gained communications as yet the answer was no and Marko shrugged his shoulders.
Marko began to carry out some scans to see the systems the Blair was powering up as Commander Torek ordered the Raven to a halt and called the Captain to the bridge. For some reason the power reading were like nothing he had seen on a federation ship before, life wasn’t as it seemed onboard the Blair. Marko quickly turned to Carl:
“Sir, I have no idea which systems the Blair is powering up but the power output being picked up from the sensors are twice that of normal operating levels aboard federation ships.” As Marko finished he raised an eyebrow, in disbelief as his console beeped once more…
“Hmmms, it all seems to be back to normal sir, whatever they were powering it is not drawing any power anymore.”

As soon as Captain James crossed the threshold of the turbolift he barked an order to Marko.
Lock out the subspace comms, I don't want any transmissions getting off of the Raven.
Marko looked hesitant about the order. He glanced from the intelligence officer to the ship's XO, not sure what to do. Carl simply gave him a nod, he would authorise it for the moment and then go to the Admiral and get it sorted out. Seconds later the door to the ready room opened with a swoosh, and an irate Admiral crossed onto the Bridge.
Can someone please tell me why when I finally get a connection through to Bellicose all I manage to say to Elron is hello before it is cut off?
Before Carl could explain the order Captain James had just given the Captain himself spoke.
I ordered the communications blackout Admiral. If you would step into your ready room, I will explain.
Mc7 did not like to be issued orders on his own Bridge, and this showed through the facial expression he wore. Just as he opened his mouth to express his extreme displeasure a series of klaxon's sounded over the Bridge and the cool crisp voice of the computer announced,
Intruder Alert, multiple decks.
As mc7 turned to get a report of where the intruders were and how many there were, the faint hum of transporters filled the Bridge. Seconds later, the seven columns of light solidified into more intruders. When the light of the transporter faded, there were four Cardassians and three Klingons, all garbed in heavy Klingon battle armour. One of the Klingons barked an order out to the others, but it Mc7 was unable to make out what it was. Each of the intruders raised their weapon and pointed them towards the Bridge crew, which had been pushed towards the centre of the Bridge.
Your weapons are useless, our ship automatically blocks unregistered weapons, so you may as well put them down.
One of the burly Klingons replied to the XO,
Is that so? We'll see just how true that is.
In a swift fluid motion that surprised everyone, the Klingon raised his weapon further and fired. A small blur appeared from the weapon and made it's way across the Bridge and made contact with the neck of Lt Miller, the duty Helm officer. Milliseconds later, she collapsed into a heap on the floor.
You see, we know all about your security systems. They can't stop our projectile weapons though. Any trouble from any of you and your woman wont be the only one tasting the venom of the Koart Adder.

As he watched the exchange between the Admiral and Captain James, Carl wondered what was going on between the two ...
"I ordered the communications blackout Admiral .. If you would step into your ready room .. I will explain." the Captain said, already moving toward the door.
The fact he was presuming to 'request' the Admiral talk in private, was enough to make Carl stand and intervene. But the klaxon put that to the back of his mind ..
"Intruder Alert .. Multiple decks."
Seconds later, the tell-tale sound of transport echoed round the Bridge, and they were joined by seven intruders ..
"Your weapons are useless .. Our ship automatically blocks unregistered weapons .. So you may as well put them down." Carl said, as Mc stepped back onto the Bridge, almost knocking over Captain James.
Carl and Mc watched as one of the Klingon's fired his weapon .. It hit the Helm Officer, throwing her from her seat to the floor .. Judging by the blood flow, she was dead before she hit the deck ..
"You see .. The Klingon said, walking casually toward Torek. Who wasn't sure, but thought he saw the man give a very slight 'nod' to James, "We know all about your security systems .. They can't stop our projectile weapons though .. Any trouble from any of you and your woman wont be the only one tasting the venom of the Koart Adder."
"Who the hell are you ?" Demanded the Admiral ..
""Ohhh .. All in good time Captain .. All in good time" said the Klingon ..
Carl didn't see the blow coming, he just felt the pain as the butt of the Klingon's weapon connected with his lower jaw .. The surprise of the sudden attack sent Carl sprawling across the Command chairs .. The other six stepped forward, making sure no-one tried anything stupid, as Carl wiped the blood from his bleeding jaw and pointedly stared the Klingon down ..
The Klingon though, was totally ignoring him .. He was grinning at the Admiral, who had just asked a simple, yet pointed question ...
"What do you want !" ..........

He didn't expect the see the Blair, in fact he was hoping to never see the Blair again. His first command had been stripped from him due to political reasons. He could not be sure, but he sensed a trap. He knew that a good operations officer could tap into a ship's systems via communications and so he ordered the Raven into communications lockdown, something that wouldn't make MC happy at all.
He dreaded it, but he knew that they had tapped into the Raven's systems. The klaxon's confirmed that they were about to be overrun by the Alliance. David would kill the [word deleted] who had ruined his plans, but for now he had to play it by ear.
~MC, please don't antognize them, please.....~ David thought before the first victim lay dead on the floor.
You see, we know all about your security systems. They can't stop our projectile weapons though. Any trouble from any of you and your woman wont be the only one tasting the venom of the Koart Adder.
Without missing a beat, David closed in on a console. He needed to know what was going on the Blair and on the other sections of the Raven.
Back away from the console, Captain the Klingon said in his native tongue
How dare you speak Klingon. You have no honor killing a defensless enemy. You have brought disgrace to your house you worthless piece of ........... David replied back in Klingon
His word choice got him a hard punch in the gut which made him double over in pain, but he knew that going in. The Klingon's around him snickered softly agreeing with some of David's words.
"The Admiral and I both know that the Alliance will not dare declare open war with our side," David said realizing that many of the bridge crew didn't know much about the Mirror Universe and the Alliance.
"I see that you have not heard about the Scavenger," the Klingon said with a hearty laugh.
"What are you talking about?" David asked confused and sincerly worried about the fates of the crew and himself.

Torek sat up .. His jaw wasn't broken, but he could feel the jagged edge to one of his teeth .. Blood was flowing freely from his mouth and he used his sleeve to stem the flow ..
He had noticed Captain James heading for the Tactical station, but so had the Klingon ..
"Back away from the console Captain !"
"How dare you speak Klingon .. You have no honor killing a defenseless enemy .. You have brought disgrace to your house you worthless piece of ..........." Captain James almost spat back in Klingon.
Carl watched in silence as the Klingon punched James, a solid blow, doubling the Captain over for a moment. But the Intel Officer wasn't done talking ..
"The Admiral and I both know that the Alliance will not dare declare open war with our side." he said, realizing that many of the bridge crew didn't know much about the Mirror Universe and the Alliance.
"I see that you have not heard about the Scavenger." the Klingon said with a hearty laugh.
Torek watched James' facial expression change a fraction .. 'He is worried' Carl thought, faking dizziness to lie on his side. No-one took any notice of him.
"What are you talking about ?" Captain James asked stepping forward, but received only laughter from the intruders ..
"Computer .." Carl said as quietly as possible, "Initiate emergency shut-down of the warp core .. Lock out all controls and computer access .. Authorization Torek Alpha-Two-Two-Alpha"
"Command confirmed." said the ship's computer.
The Klingon's head spun round in confusion.. He saw Torek looking directly at him and leaned close to the Executive Officer ..
"What have you ordered the computer to do ?"
"You're through on the Raven .. Non of the ships' systems will respond to you now." Carl replied, as one of the intruders yelled that the engines just went off-line ..
The Klingon screamed something in his native language. One of his men stepped up to the Engineering panel and made several attempts at inputting orders, with no effect ..
"We're locked out Sir." he said, almost fearful of the outcome ..
The Klingon in charge moved to Mc, grabbing him by the throat and almost lifting him clear of the deck ..
"Release your controls to me now !"
With difficulty, Mc spoke ..
"I ... I cant .. The order can only be rescinded by Commander Torek .. Using his code and voice analysis check."
"Then 'ORDER' him to do so .. Or I will begin killing every woman on this ship !"
Carl grinned through the pain and bleeding .. They couldn't even get a drink from the replicators without his say-so now ..........

McLean had just gotten back down to Main Engineering when he heard the Intruder Alert warning. Just as he turned his head to look around he saw several Klingon warriors beating several helpless Engineers. Rushing to their aide, McLean tackled the closest Klingon but as he tried to get to his feet he was struck down by the butt end of their weapon.
He felt light headed; his vision danced around in one blurry motion and he felt that he was on the verge of blacking out. The sounds of yelling and screaming in the background were the only thing that kept McLean from losing consciousness.
McLean pushed hard with his arms and brought himself up to his knees but as if with before he was struck down and this time the blow send him to the ground, not to get up again.
“Who is the Chief Engineer?” Barked one of the Klingon warriors.
McLean’s eyes opened one at a time and he found himself leaning against the wall. As he looked around he saw that he was sitting behind the Klingons but in front of the entire engineering crew. Next to him where other engineers who had been beaten by the Klingon intruders.
“I shall only ask one more time,” Warned the Klingon, “Who is your ships Chief Engineer?”
McLean felt all the eyes fall upon him but just as he was about to stand he heard Bensons voice boom from the back of the crowd.
“I am.” Benson said just as he got to the front of the crowd of engineers.
“Then you can get the engines back online.”
“I can’t.” Benson replied.
“You will or you will die.”
“I can’t,” Benson repeated himself, “The First Officer has locked out the ships systems. He and only he can get them back online.”
McLean knew that wasn’t entirely true, but he wasn’t going to leak valuable information like that. He was going to sit back quietly, watch and wait for a chance to remove some of these intruders from his ship.
off: sorry for being gone so long guys. i am all caught up and ready to kick some klingon butt.
