With respect, Reman, I suggest we stay with the same model. I'm okay to go with the Mark IIa. That way, we're using the same model as the BT, so we don't have to make any new stuff up, but we're a bit better than the BT, which will annoy Elron. Any objections?

As a thought to the simming future and canon and options. Shouldn't we devise some constraint that stops QSD being possible all the time? Otherwise every captain would just order QSD whenever they needed to go places instead of taking longer with warp and would make the decision to keep warp and canonicity pointless.
Elron time...

Well, my thought would be that QSD takes up too much power to be used all the time, just when extra long distances need to be traversed?

That'll do. I'd suggest putting that in the specs for the drive so people know.

Sounds good to me. It's like an airplane only going at maximum speed if it's late, since it prefers to go at the most fuel-efficient speed as much as possible.
Oh, and we all know that no-one here at Omicron can outdo the Brunel Propulsion Institute when it comes to QSD, Reman It may interest you to know that the Brunel Institute which developed the Starfleet QSD was based at the Omicron Fleet Yards (my original version of it, anyway). I don't know whether Dan and Ramsden included it in their version of the Omicron Shipyards though

My thoughts: both sections warp capable, no question. Warp speeds? Max 9.9992 (more then enough speed- that's FAST!) cruise max: 9.975 (Yoyager's Top speed, to show time has elapsed and SF is making ships faster) As For Slipstream: I think we should outfit it with type IIa, and note it as "still Experimental" and give the CEO something to do sometime and upgrade it to type III. this also give story excuses to COs, getting thrown out of the Galaxy, coming back with the vision of blowing omicron to pieces, ect. (let's not let elron on this one, shall we? he'd probalby do that) As a matter of course, Star fleet Would be adapting it's newest technologies with newer ship classes, not retrofitting it into old classes, perhaps, but they would probalby design it into newer classes with a successful test bed (the BT) I'm also of the opinion that we should be fitted with a cloak, too, considering newer poitive relations with the RSE, but that's another topic... to try and avoid abuse of QSD, I do suggest that we fit it ith a max running time based on power. 50 minutes or roundabouts, perhaps? (on max) 60 in dire cases and shutting other things down, perhaps.... again, give the CEO something to do. You could also make it really difficult to use due to control issues- finally, something for the navigator. Until faster computers come out, it takes 15 minutes to aim this thing right. that about sums it up for me.... though if you ask me to talk more, I will.

Although I'm just a consultant here, I like the sound of this. The max speed of 9.9992 is definitely plenty fast (Prometheus was 9.99) and a cruising speed of 9.975 is fair enough, though Voyager was able to sustain a cruising speed of 9.975 so you could increase it to 9.99 if you wanted the tech to advance somewhat.
Having the QSD operate for a max time due to stability issues is a great idea. We did that too on the BT, but now I can't remember why we stopped so maybe that's something we still have to do LOL
Slipstream's definitely not had all the bugs worked out yet, so you've got plenty scope for recent improvements or changes to have unexpected side effects.
I have no input on the cloak, but it seems to be getting quite common in S47...
Would I blow up Omicron? Innocent ol' me?

I think cloak is probably for another topic.
