He was still reading, when the Raven's Senior Marine came onto the Bridge ... He sat down next to Carl and waited.
"Good to have you back on board Colonel." Torek said, glancing at the PADD the Marine held.
"Thank you Captain."
"Something for me ?" Carl asked, motioning toward the PADD, then listened as the Colonel outlined the idea, "We have the spec's in our computers for something that .. Old ?"
"Klurg has managed to find them in one of the historic databases. It's touch and go but ......" the Marine left the ending open, giving a slight shrug.
"OK ... He should set up an interface with the Vesuvius' computer, it may be of help." Carl said as Traks rose, "Make sure Commodore Sonak is aware of what we're attempting. If we can protect the Challenger, the freighter can be sacrificed as a last resort."
"Aye Sir .. I'll see to it." the Colonel assured him, then left.
'If need be we'll pack the freighter with everything that will explode and drive her right into the big ship' Carl thought wryly ..........

The bright light that has blinded him and surrounded his body had miraculously transported him to this new location. In front of him was another one of the alien, this one looked most like the males he had seen already, to him these ‘humans’ all looked alike. It was the Vulcans that caused fear in him. He couldn’t figure out if it was the ears, or the eyebrows that brought the fear, but either way it was there and he felt it when they looked him upon.
The Vackall Prime fleet continued to approach at their maximum speed. His rebel fleet had gone to light speed, leaving their commander to fend for himself. A fact that he hoped to deal with if he ever got back to his ship.
“I cannot be here.” Joq’Tel pressed the Commodore, “If the Vackall Prime fleet General sees me onboard he will think one of two things. Either you are lying to him and we have joined forces, or that you have captured me. In either case we are doomed. The Vackall Prime cannot be trusted; they are a savage fleet that does not obey the laws of decency. War crimes I believe you call them.”

The Commodore raised an eyebrow. "It is classed an anomaly now?" she queried glancing sideways. "Odd, when we were thrown here, we detected signs of intelligence. Almost as though it was a wayward child in a grand playground, actually. Where did you enter this...anomaly you mentioned? And who did that bouy belong to? We were enveloped by it near Andor, while we were preparing for a terraforming mission."
As Parsons gathered his thoughts and prepared to answer, Sonak spoke up once more. "We are currently three Starfleet vessels. Us, the USS Raven and NX Challenger. Once you have transported aboard, I shall properly brief you. We have also experienced crew disappearances. Additionally we have suffered heavy damage though we have engineering teams working on that. The fleet out there belongs to the Vackall and we have their commander aboard as our guest."
"Well, I wasn't on the bridge when this ship encountered the ...anomoly...or whatever it was. I have no idea whether it is a spacial phenomenon or the work of an intelligent being," Parsons responded as best he could with the information he had.
"I am the Sector JAG Officer for Starbase Assailant, I was simply on my way to the bridge when we were hit by a probe, which I also didn't see."
"It appeared to be a Class V Federation probe," piped up the Ensign at the Navigation console, "but our sensor logs were damaged in the collision."
"Thank you Ensign," Adam said turning to her briefly.
"I was simply the ranking officer alive on the bridge after the incident occurred, so I took command. I"m not sure our transporter is functioning, Commodore, and the ship is heavily damaged, are you sure you want me to leave her."
<TAG Sonak>
"Very well, Commodore. Ensign, you have the bridge. Illito, you're with me," Parsons ordered before being beamed to the Vesuvius with Dr. Tintagel.
~a little later~
"Welcome aboard commander," the Vulcan Commodore addressed the newcomer, "please, how did you end up on that vessel and where were you assigned? I meant, your position and assignment.
"Well as I said, I am the Sector JAG Officer for Starbase Assailant. I was just hitching a ride on the transport. I was scheduled to be hearing a disciplinary action on the Ventari Outpost later today. Prior to my current post I was the XO aboard the USS Scavenger under Captain Luke Drago. When I stepped onto the bridge of the freighter and saw that the Captain was dead, I assumed command."
Turning to Illito, "This is Commander Tintagel, she served as Chief Medical Officer aboard the Scavenger."

"Then I suggest you get off my bridge," she snapped suddenly. She was tired, irritable and in no mood to play games. They were three Starfleet vessels surrounded by a possibly hostile fleet and the last thing she needed was a whining runaway. "You can join your friend in the brig, if you please, or keep Captain Kirk's doctor company when he does wake up."
The Vulcan woman missed her family, especially after being confronted with Saryn and the alien girl that would return to him as she thought about it that moment. She turned as Parsons was joined by a Cardassian woman dressed in teals that matched her own current dress. Forgetting that the link with Raven was still open, she narrowed her eyes, allowing hate to surface faster than she could control the feeling.
"What is this Cardassian doing on my bridge," she snapped, pointing at the woman who would end up as her chief medical officer. "Mr Parsons, as we are the only starfleet here and I have just lost my first officer, I think you would be best suited for that position. While I do not appreciate a Cardassian on my vessel, perhaps she could take over in sickbay. And check out Doctor Saryn, who is currently held in our brig after an attack on Commander Martens."
Finally, she pointed at the huge white vessel that was on fast approach. "Stand down on weapons and contact the lead vessel. Tell them we wish to talk, peacefully."

"Sir two have beamed from the freighter to the Vesuvius."
Carl frowned.
"How many left aboard her now then ?" he asked.
"Seven Captain." Jamison said.
"Beam them into cargo-bay two .. Then have whatever we can spare thats explosive beamed into the freighter. Have Security meet the freighters' crew."
An hour later, Torek watched the massive mother-ship as she approached. He was suddenly informed that Commodore Reckus was trying to contact the ship ..
"What !" Carl asked, though in truth he was hardly surprised at the Vulcan's actions.
"She's opened a channel but the ship isn't responding ... They seem to be scanning the rebel vessels and completely ignoring the hail, or us for that matter." Commander Jamison said, watching his readings carefully.
"That ship doesn't look like it's about to slow down anytime soon." Carl said, watching the massive vessel bare down on them.
It suddenly occurred to him that that was their intent ... They were simply going to fly right through the Federation ships to get to the rebels ..... They needed to move ..... NOW !
"Contact the Ves. Tell them to get the HELL out of there .. Activate cloak .. Encompass the Challen ......"
"Sir we can't cloak AND maneuver with the Challenger tractored." the duty Science Officer pointed out.
"...... We're not moving. Not in that sense anyway." Carl said, "Cloak us both, then drop, Zee minus one hundred thousand meters .. Once there, ahead as fast as the tractor will allow !"
"Sir. The Commodore is asking what you are doing." Comms said.
"Tell her we are leaving !" Torek said, glaring at the massive ship now seemingly rising above them, "...... And if she still wants a ship to Command she'd better do the same, because once that freighter goes up, she needs to be elsewhere."
Carl hoped his actions were heeded on the Vesuvius, because in seconds, the space were the three Federation ships were hanging was going to be vaporized on the atomic level ! ..........

Traks having received approval for the plan beamed over to the Challenger with two Marines, and engineering team and the cloaking device. He was meet by two MACO's.
Traks decided to take a light approach to this meting. "Take us to your leader. I always wanted to say that. I am Colonel Traks I need to talk to your senior officer."
"That would be me; Colonel James; is that something to help us or a bomb to ride you of our ship?" James asked as he rested hi hand on his phase pistol.
Traks did not miss the implied statement. that this officer would defend his ship to the end. " You devotion is noted but misplaced we are here to attempt to install a cloaking device and see if we can get this ship into the fight or at least defend itself so the Raven can fight to her full potential.
"Ok but we need our Co, and Doctor but they are on the Vulcan's ship." Replied James with a note of sarcasm.
Traks activated his combadge; "Traks to Raven Sir it would help if we had Capitan Kirk and his Doctor aboard, they both seem to be on the Vesuvius. The Commodore is too busy to take my calls, If you could facilitate his return it would help greatly."
<tag Torek>
"Well lets get started everyone follow the LT here and I will tell our bridge crew what is up." James turned and headed to the bridge. Entering the bridge James went to Cmdr Logan the ranking officer on the bridge, and filled him in on what Colonel Traks was up to.

Illito had never had a problem keeping her tongue, and she didn't develop one just because Commodore Reckus had a problem holding hers. Illito didn't much care for her species name being substituted for her personal one, nor the hate that came through with every word, and she liked even less that Commodore Reckus had addressed the remarks meant for Illito to Commander Parsons, but she nodded to the Vesuvius' CO in acknowledgement, since at least the Commodore was content to let her be of use.
Since Illito lacked any kind of layout guideline for the Vesuvius, and because she really didn't want to linger on the bridge, Illito headed for the turbolift and figured out whether she would head to sickbay or the brig first once she was inside it.
After some thought, and after checking the status of her medkit to ensure she still had enough of any supplies she might need, Illito made the decision to visit Doctor Saryn, because it sounded like he or she had been left in the brig, whilst people in sickbay had other nurses and doctors around and available to help.
It was a nervous looking Cardassian Federation officer who exited the turbolift on deck 19. Illito tended to avoid the brig, as a matter of policy, and she rarely made it a priority when she arrived on a new ship to check out the brig.
As she was looking for someone she could ask to find out which cell Doctor Saryn was in when she saw an unexpected and familiar face. "Pai!" Illito said, delighted to see someone she knew and liked. The way today had been going so far, she needed to fell a little bit less like a stranger.
"Do you know where I could find a Doctor Saryn?" Illito asked, after she'd finished her greeting. The only occupied cell she could find contained an unconscious Vulcan male and a child, and if she had to guess Illito would guess the unconscious one was Dr. Saryn, but she didn't have to guess.

Even though his arrival had been a surprise to everyone, Paikea was pleased that Commodore Reckus had allowed him to get to work. She had ordered him to work with Doctor Saryn; who was currently being held in sickbay.
"Is a doctor coming to see if he is alright?" Paikea asked of the security officer stationed in the brig.
"Commander, may I ask who you are?" the security officer asked.
"Sorry about that, Ensign, I am Commander Paikea Apirana, your new boss," Paikea said as he looked at the unconscious Vulcan again.
"Sorry about that sir," the ensign replied," someone is coming shortly."
"Good. You are dismissed," Paikea said not wanting to have any bad experiences with his officers," I'll be taking the Vulcan to the holodeck once the doctor gives the okay."
"Understood," the ensign said walking out of the brig rather quickly.
"No way!" Paikea said as he saw his favorite Cardassian walk into sickbay. Paikea listened carefully as Illito explained how she and Commander Parsons found themselves here. Once she was done, Pai quickly explained how he had gotten to the Vesuvius.
"Did you speak to the Commodore?" Paikea asked not knowing that Illito had just had a terrible first encounter with his new commanding officer. "She did what! That stupid Vulcan, you should have dropped kicked her."
"Do you know where I could find a Doctor Saryn?" Illito asked.
"Yes, that is him," Paikea said as he lowered the forcefields," he had a telepathic encounter with the ship's chief engineer. The Vulcan wants me to take him to the holodeck to work out his anger issues. I think its a waste of time."

"Colonel Traks you may begin working on the cloaking device at your earliest convinence," Jack said amused at the situation. Jack had already been told of the encounter with Colonel James and it endeared him to the entire bridge crew," I would also like to apolgize for Colonel James. We have been at war for a long time and MACOS are on edge right now."
(Traks)
Jack knew how the MACO commander felt, but also knew that the Challenger crew would continue to work without there leader. Andy and Saryn had not reported in for a few hours, but there was nothing he could really do. The repairs were under way and the threat of the enemy fleet was always looming.
"Colonel Traks, is there anyway we can help you?" Jack asked knowing that the answer was probably no.

Saryn woke when someone anxiously tugged at his arm, whispering his name with equal urgency. He struggled his way back to consciousness, suppressing a moan as his head seemed to be pounding. Slowly, memory returned to him even as his headache seemed to worsen.
He opened his eyes and gazed directly into his daughter's pale blue ones, noting they were filled with a mix of happiness and extreme worry. "Father are you all right?" the girl asked, both her small hands folded around one of his own. The touch felt strangely odd, yet so comfortable.
Quietly he patted her hands with his free hand then attempted to sit up. His stomach turned and he vomited violently, before sagging back on the bunk. At his side, Numike gave a worried cry. She heard voices outside the cell and turned to see two aliens approaching. One looked sickly, at a very grey skintone, the other looked Vulcan but at the same time not. The last one, a male, she was certain she'd seen before, after she'd been brought to her father. He also sounded very angry at someone.
"Please, can you help my father?" the Mirandan girl pleaded with them, "I think he's sick."
Saryn struggled himself up into a sitting position again, regarding the two aliens for the first time. He raised an eyebrow at the female, who was wearing the same colour uniform as himself, as well as the commodore had been wearing. "Begging your pardon ma'am, but I have not seen your species before." He carefully nodded to Paikea, immediately severely regretting the motion. "Nor yours sir. You appear Vulcan, but clearly are not..."

The Raven dropped below the plane of the universe, the natural plane on which all solid bodies rested.
At ninety thousand meters below that plane, the Vackall mother-ship's shields came into contact with the abandoned freighter .. The explosion, though expected, was so much more devastating that Torek could have imagined ..
It smashed against the Galaxy Class Star ship on her biggest profile, throwing her almost seventy thousand kilometers further than expected ..
The Bridge ...... Thrown into complete darkness, began, moments later, to regain some emergency lighting. Internal communications were coming back on-line, but Carl wished they hadn't, as reports of fatalities began to pour in. First in the tens .. Then to Torek's horror, the figure reached the hundred mark, and continued to rise ...
"REPORT !"
"Sir .. We're in trouble .. Sensors are down .. We've no means of telling what's outside the hull, let alone what's in the distance !" the navigation Officer said.
"What about the Challenger ?" Carl said.
"The tractor beam disengaged in the explosion. There's no way of knowing how, or where she is at the moment." Jamison said.
It suddenly began to dawn on Carl the possible extent of his actions .......... The Raven was blind. He had no way of knowing if the Challenger had survived .. But his main concern, and fear, was that the Vesuvius had not managed to get out of the way of the explosion ..
"Is there ANY way we can scan for vessels ?"
"No .. Not without sensors Captain." Marcus said.
Carl sat in the Captains seat .. But in that moment, he felt like the most unworthy person to be sitting there. He needed to come to terms with the fact that he had just, quite possibly, instigated the deaths of hundreds of people. His Chief Engineer, his Councillor .. All gone ..........

Daniel was glad to be away from the challenger’s doctor, particularly after the little slip up about the black uniform ‘i think the section 31 of the challenger’s time wear black uniform’s like we do’ Daniel had been threatened twice with a sword and twice got away without having blood drawn. Daniel began to go from quarters to quarters where the challenger’s crew were resting or trying to make sense of what was happening. Daniel enjoyed this sort of thing, generally most were happy to have someone to talk to and was willing to listen to their concerns, but Daniel was not surprised when he was given a fairly rough turn around as he entered one of the quarters. After spending the better part of half a day walking through various doors thought the guest quarters on the Vesuvius Daniel was glad when he heard that something interesting had just happened. Somehow the doctor from earlier had collapsed after trying to do something, exactly what had happened had obviously been lost in the many telling from the original event.
Deciding to go and see if the doctor was ok and if he needed a counsellor ‘more just to see him without a sword’, Daniel grab the security ensign that had just told him about the incident. “Ensign, where is the doctor now?” Daniel watched as the ensign continued to talk to the young woman before he turned around to say “he is in the brig, now do you mind?” Daniel realised what the ensign meant and quickly turned the other way and made his way to the turbo lift, Daniel disliked the brig though he had so far only been in one twice, once to act as a counsellor and the other to get information out of someone fast. Walking out onto deck 19 Daniel started thinking of as many excuses as he could to be in the brig to speak to Saryn, deciding to go with he was informed of what had happened and wanted to check the doctor for any mental issues as a result of the event. Daniel knew if the security officer checked Daniel would be in trouble, but he doubted it would not be too bad.
As Daniel walked into the brig he was greeted with a scene that he was not expecting, a small discussion between a Cardassian in a blue uniform and a humanoid in a yellow uniform and the Vulcan doctor. "Begging your pardon ma'am, but I have not seen your species before." He carefully nodded to Paikea. "Nor yours sir. You appear Vulcan, but clearly are not..." Daniel wondered if he should point out he was present, Daniel knew that the doctor would not have encountered a Cardassian before, ‘blasted time travel, no wonder the section has a rule about not being in more than one time line’ “Commanders, Doctor, i hear that someone may be in need of a counsellor.” Daniel turned to the two commanders and introduced himself “I am Commander Daniel Biers, Chief Counsellor on the Raven”

"Anger issues?" Illito asked. She hadn't thought those common in Vulcans, but clearly she was mistaken. She glanced at Pai, then at her patient as Pai lowered the forcefield to let her walk inside.
Doctor Saryn threw up then, and Illito sighed as she opened her medkit to remove a powder she sprinkled on the vomit to stop the smell and contain the mess some.
"Please, can you help my father? I think he's sick."
"I'm definitely going to try," Illito responded, scanning Dr. Saryn with her tricorder.
"Begging your pardon ma'am, but I have not seen your species before."
Illito wasn't sure if she was allowed to give her species name, or if that would be considered violation of the temporal prime directive. She dismissed the idea of keeping the fact that she was Cardassian secret, since it wasn't like she was about to expound on the history of the Cardassian empire. Plus, with Dr. Saryn being on the Vesuvius, he must have seen quite a lot already. On the other hand, better to be safe than sorry. So Illito just shrugged, trying to say with her body language that these things happen.
She was saved from feeling she had to answer the question more by the addition of another person, who introduced himself as Daniel Biers, Counsellor of the Raven.
"I'm Illito Tintagel, former Chief Medical Officer of the former Scavenger," Illito said, with a tiny, ironic smile. She didn't know precisely how she stood on the Vesuvius, but she knew that the CO didn't much care for her, but had told her to report to sickbay when she got a chance.
"Was there any physical confrontation during the telepathic encounter?" Illito asked Dr. Saryn, following the question quickly with another, "Did you try to break the connection at any point?"

Saryn watched with interest as the woman seemed to debate her answer, then finally decided upon giving none. The other Vulcan, well part Vulcan, had remained quiet so far, allowing the woman to step into the cell with him. The silent threat was not lost on Saryn; if he made a move on her, he'd come to sorely regret it.
Saryn on his part, however had no energy to make any sort of move, good or bad. He lay as still as possible as the woman examined him, with Numike hovering close by. A few times he winced but that was it.
Then, the counselor entered the holding cell area, introducing himself to the two other strangers. As they talked, Saryn attempted to listen and learn as much as he could, until the woman before him spoke up once more.
"I'm Illito Tintagel, former Chief Medical Officer of the former Scavenger."
Well, at least now he had her name, that was something, even though the answer hadn't quite been addressed to him. She did seem to address him with her next words.
"Was there any physical confrontation during the telepathic encounter?" Illito asked Dr. Saryn, following the question quickly with another, "Did you try to break the connection at any point?"
"I touched Commander Martens," Saryn answered honestly, "after he invaded my mind, I tried to physically fend him off. It seemed to enhance his telepathic strength. I am not a trained telepath, in fact in my time Vulcans are not telepathically inclined even though there are some who are training themselves to perform mindmelds. It is, however, unheard of and vile." It was a little white lie, though in that same aspect not a lie at all. He just neither confirmed nor denied whether he was capable of it.
At that moment, the ship shook violently, the cell briefly darkening before emergency generators kicked in. The Vulcan was thrown off the bunk and hard against the deck, the woman landing painfully on top of him. He heard Numike scream in fear, feeling her cold hands reach for him in comfort. His fingers curled around hers even as he fought off another wave of nausea.
"Numike no!" he called out, though it was already too late; in her fear she had bitten him, just as she'd done several times before. His control already far gone, he yelped as he felt her fangs penetrate the skin of his right arm. Yanking his arm back, he struggled to sit up, shoving the woman off him.
As he shakily rose to his feet, he pulled Illito up with him and attempted to steady her. "Are you all right doctor?" he asked gently. His own condition already forgotten, completely pushed to the back of his consciousness, he turned to the two men. "Are you hurt?"
The forcefield had gone offline and if Saryn wanted to, he could make a break for it. However, since there could be injuries, Saryn chose to remain, instead offering to assist. He was unarmed and his only concern was helping the injured. By now he had learned the mottled man's name and they locked gazes. "Commander Apirana, Illito and I should head for sickbay to tend to the wounded. You should go to the bridge with Commander Biers and assess the situation there."
He didn't wait for permission and tapped the combadge he'd been given. "Bridge, this is Saryn. I would request permission to return to my duties. Doctor Tintagel will accompany me."
A snarl was the only response he received and he raised an eyebrow. "It seems I am not the only one who is at odds with the captain of this vessel," he remarked dryly as he regarded the Cardassian. "What did you do to get in her disfavour?"
The Vulcan still waited for the security chief's response. "I believe the 'work off my anger' session can wait, would you not agree commander?"
Lastly, he addressed Biers again. "I would like to apologise for my attack on you. It was, however, unintended as you did intrude on my practice. If you wish, I could show you what I was doing at a more convenient time, and you could observe and assess if you wish it."

The explosion had taken place over an hour ago, and the Raven was still blind .. Worse than blind.
"What about the shuttles ?" he asked, frustrated.
"No ... They suffered the same as our own systems." the duty Science Officer said, "Sir, we must still be falling below the plane, we need to halt our decent."
"Can you calculate how much thrust we'd need to halt our fall ?"
"A guess is the best I can come up with, and that could be inaccurate in the extreme."
=^= Engineering to Bridge =^=
=^= Bridge =^= Carl said, almost expecting the bad news that was on it's way.
=^= Sir .. Lieutenant Dalton .. We have found a twelve meter fracture of the cores outer casing .. It's going to take the best part of a day to repair =^=
=^= The core can wait .. I need sensors .. We're blind deaf and dumb up here Lieutenant .. Get a team on the casing but we need to see where we are and if the Challenger and Vesuvius have survived .. They could be meters away from us and we'd never know it =^=
=^= You could always have a look out the window ...... =^= Dalton said quietly.
=^= Get my sensors on-line Mister Dalton .. Bridge out ! =^=
Carl was annoyed at the woman's comment, but the more he thought about it, the more it made sense .. They could check the immediate area visually, and begin the long journey back to the plane .. If enough people were keeping watch, it was feasible they could get back to the Vesuvius at least... As for the Challenger, that was another matter. They were 'below' the Raven when the explosion occurred, and unless they had power, would still be falling ..
"Jake. Get everyone who isn't involved in repairs, or tending to the injured, next to a window." Carl said, "Helm .. Maneuvering thrusters only, straight up !"
"Sir ... We'll only have seco ......"
"I realize the danger Ensign. But we need to get back up there to see if we have anyone left .. And if not ......" he let his voice trail off, as everyone knew the possibilities awaiting them, "Once we get the core on-line ......"
'I will fly us right into that anomaly and take our chances' Torek continued the thought in silence ..........

"What is this Cardassian doing on my bridge," the Commodore snapped, pointing at Illito.
When Parsons had absorbed what was said, "Yes Ma'am, I'll do my best." Turning to Illito, "you'd better head to sickbay." Adam did not know the reason for Sonak's dislike of Cardassians, but he meant to find out, if they made it out of this alive. He took his position on the bridge and began reading status reports. The new acting first officer was not even familiar with this ship's class, let alone her current status.

Going over the final touches of the navigation control system on the bridge everything seemed to be in order, Everything running smooth, no warning lights, it was all coming back to Commander Iceman. When he was just about finished he turned and saw Commander Parsons for the first time on the bridge.
Not looking up to see him looking at him "Commander Iceman said" to himself so that is Commander Parsons. Turning to the officer sitting next to him, I hope he and Commodore Sonak, can get along "He said" I hope so "Said the Officer"
Hey by the way after we are finished here Commander and everything checks out I challenge you to a game of Parrises Squares.
You have yourself a deal "Said Commander Iceman, has soon has we finish this systems checks.

Illito considered Dr. Saryn as he told her the circumstances in which he'd been injured. She'd learned about psychic attacks, but it wasn't knowledge she'd ever applied since she was trained in it at the Academy. Which meant she had some of the theoretical knowledge, but her practical information was limited to holodeck simulations. Which just hadn't been that in depth.
Nothing serious had been turned up by her scan, but she was opening her mouth to ask another question when the ship bucked and Illito was thrown across the room. She was rocked around a few times after that, and fell on top of Dr. Saryn, before he shoved her off as he let out a yelp. "Are you badly injured?" she asked, glancing at his arm, where he'd been...bitten.
"Are you all right doctor?" Dr. Saryn asked.
"Hmm?" Illito asked. "Yeah, I'm fine." She was still worried about him, but she just made a mental note to keep an eye on him to be sure he was all right. Then Dr. Saryn took control of the situation, and informed her that he'd be accompanying her to sickbay. Illito glanced at Pai to be sure that was acceptable, since she didn't know the whole of the situation. Dr. Saryn didn't seem very dangerous, but she didn't want to just trust her instincts on that.
Dr. Saryn then contacted the bridge, so clearly his sentencing to the brig hadn't been that severe. He was greeted with a snarl when he mentioned Illito's name.
"It seems I am not the only one who is at odds with the captain of this vessel. What did you do to get in her disfavour?" he asked.
"I didn't do anything," Illito replied, trying not to let her discomfort with the situation show, and not really succeeding. It was just that Illito hadn't expected to encounter anything of the like this high in the command scale. She supposed that a fondness, or at least neutrality, toward former "Enemies of the Federation" was hardly a requirement for command. She wondered what right she really had to complain, since she herself probably wouldn't be happy if she were to serve a Vorta. Not that she could see a Vorta joining Starfleet for any reason but as a part of some Machiavellian scheme.
"Shall we head to sickbay?" Illito asked, when she realized she'd been silently considering the situation for a little too long.

"Report!" demanded the CEO as he dashed from his office, flashlight blazing on his arm. The room was dark save the officers flash lights and an emergency console. "We've got massive hull failure across all decks. Cloaks and cores are offline. We're on minimum power for the rest of the ship. Whatever that was we took the brunt of it," Sarah replied. Blood streaked her face, she had taken an exploding console to the face. Nick stooped to survey the damage reports, which were now streaming in from all decks as communications began being restored. He swore under his breath at the sheer magnitude of the situation. He looked at Sarah and then at Carl. The two of them looked like they'd been given a death sentence...maybe they had. He spoke to Sarah. "You alright to lead a team?" he asked. She didn't reply, she just nodded her head slightly. "Ok, take Jenkins, Henderson and Franco and head to Minerva and get the defensive systems online. Carl you take Grindly, Simon and Hawkins to Discordia and make sure the bridge is operational. If you need me.." he paused and looked at each of his crew through the smokey darkness, "I'll be outside." ~~ The ship was a mess. He skirted the nacels in his one man work bee and rounded to get a better view of the upper half of the ship. It looked horrible. Massive sections of the hull were stripped away exposing the inner workings and rooms of the outer sections. Plasma leapt into open space from one of the saucer sections nacels where it dissipated as it cooled. The blast had broadsided the ship and it showed. (OOC: Think voyager from year of hell www.ex-astris-scientia.org/scans/voy-tyoh.jpg)Off in the distance he saw the hulk of the Raven drifting helplessly away. Her saucer seemed to have taken the brunt of the impact. The saucers hull pitted and scorched. Nick slowly spun the pod to face where the blast had come from, a cloud of debris was all that was left of the cargo ship. The Vackall mother ship drifted lifelessly as well. A good chunk of the ship missing due to the impact with a antimatter and explosive laden ship. Both fleets sat there in a silent standoff. It was only a matter of time before one side regained power. Then he saw the balance shift. Out from behind Raven came a much much smaller ship. It was the Challenger. "Martens to Sonak, I've got some good and some bad." =/\= I will take whatever news you give me Commander,=/\= came the garbled reply over the comm. "Bad news is neither Raven nor Vesuvius is going anywhere anytime soon. Vackall mother ship is disabled as well. She's got no power and was pretty much ripped in half by that bomb Torek made." =/\=Can you see the Challenger?=/\= came the worried request of Captain Kirk. "She's looking great Captain. In fact it looks as though she's in better shape than both fleets combined," Nick smiled as he listened to a whoop of praise from Kirk. =/\=Good to hear Commander=/\= Sonak said. =/\=Please, finish your assessment and return to the hangar. I want this ship operational as soon as possible.=/\= "Yes Ma'am," he replied and closed the comm. It was going to be a long night.

“What the hell?” McLean shouted out loud after falling face first into the console he had just been working on.
With the Challenger space worthy again and the full complement of engineers back on their own ship, McLean took the opportunity to get back to his own ship, the USS Raven. He hadn’t been back an hour when the severe shockwave sent every single person inside Main Engineering flying about like rag dolls.
Blood ran down his face as he pulled himself to his knees. He could feel the warmth of the blood on his brow, and the smell tingled his nostrils. His head was buzzing with the familiar feeling of a concussion but duty and training took over his battered body.
“Is everybody all right?” McLean shouted into the now darkened Engine Room. Emergency lights had activated but the dim red glow that emanated from the floor was hardly an adequate light source to light all of Main Engineering. This forced the Chief Engineer to stumble in the darkness to locate the bin of portable wrist flashlights. He remembered them being stowed nearby, but he knew that OPS personnel had come down earlier and they always liked to rearrange his engine room.
“I can’t reach the bridge on the COMS.” Somebody shouted in the dark.
“I’ll go reach the bridge.” Another voice volunteered.
“I’ve got a flashlight, take it.” Said yet another engineer as the light clicked on, cutting a slice of white light into he sea of red.
“Hurry up,” McLean shouted, “And make sure you bring medical personnel with you.”

Andy watched as the Vackall Prime battle cruiser continued on its path, despite the Starfleet ship that stood in its way, “What are they doing?” The young Captain said almost instinctively.
The most massive ship, the one towing Challenger, began to pull away before it vanished, taking Challenger with it. A smaller ship, what appeared to be a freighter, now stood its ground against the massive Vackall Prime battle cruiser.
Andy watched helplessly as the massive ship slammed head first into the freighter, and then it happened. Explosives on the freighter detonated causing a massive explosion which tore a massive hole into the Vackall’s hull. The resulting shockwave sent all the Starfleet ships in the area flying uncontrollably through space, so much so that the internal gravity aboard the future ship was even compromised.
For the second time Andy pulled himself off he deck of a ship with the lights out. Power was at a premium in Andromeda and it seemed that not even a ship from the future could survive the galaxy’s mighty grasp.
Stars danced around Andy’s vision as voices spoke out from the darkest corners of the bridge. At first they were voices of concern for the fellow man, but they quickly turned professional as department heads shouted for reports that were more than likely not coming in.
Andy’s thoughts turned to the Challenger and the crew that had just settled back home. Had they been far enough away from the explosion to survive? Based on his own visual cues he wasn’t sure, they looked to be much closer than he wanted to admit to himself, but if they had survived they would be making contact as soon as possible.

=^= Get my sensors on-line Mister Dalton .. Bridge out ! =^=
Lights were flickering all over the Bridge, and Torek suspected it was the case all over the Raven. Comms were sporadic at best. He had no contact with Sick-bay, but at least personal Comms seemed, for the moment, to be holding up.
"Maneuvering thrusters have just failed ..." Jake said, "We're adrift Captain."
Carl thought about it for a moment, but decided that taking it out on the chair wasn't going to help, and may earn him a trip to Sick-bay for his trouble.
=^= Mears to Bridge =^=
=^= Go ahead =^=
=^= Sir .. I'm at the Port dorsal observation window .. I can just about see Vesuvius .. She's way above our position .. Her inertial dampers must be off-line she's listing about thirty five to forty degrees =^=
=^= Any sign of the Challenger ? =^=
=^= No Sir ... WAIT ... Yes .. I can see her .. Off our port quarter .. Looks in good shape =^=
"She would have been protected from the explosion by our saucer section." Jamison said.
The turbo-lift doors opened, albeit only partially, an Ensign forced his way onto the Bridge ..
"Captain. Ensign Tanner. We need medical assistance in Engineering. Commander McLean is looking at the core fracture, but there's injured all over the department."
"Contact Sick-bay .. Use your Comm badge .. Ask Doctor MacGregor to get some people down there. Get back yourself and get me an estimate on how soon we will have maneuvering."
"Aye Sir." Tanner said, again squeezing through the doors of the lift.
Torek tapped his own Comm badge ..
=^= Captain to Sick-bay ...... =^=
=^= MacGregor =^=
=^= Situation report ? =^=
=^= I don't have the time Captain .. I'm treating several serious injuries at once .. Engineering need our help and my staff are getting thin on the ground =^=
=^= Fatalities ? =^=
There was a hesitation long enough for Torek to almost repeat the question ..
=^= One hundred and seven dead .. So far Captain The injured number in the hundreds, from minor scrapes to multiple fractures .. Sir .. I'm sorry to report that twelve of those fatalities are children =^=
The silence was deafening to Carl. everyone on the Bridge was in shock at the statement.
=^= McLean's Daugh ...... =^=
=^= She's OK .. Shaken up .. I've let the Commander know =^=
Carl's eye's closed, the dread he felt at the possibility that Vanessa was ... Was ... He couldn't contemplate that outcome.
=^= Do the best you can Doctor .. Use whoever you need .. Bridge out =^=
"Mister Marcus, you have the Bridge, I'm going to Engineering." Carl said, moving toward the turbo-lift, which again opened just enough for him to squeeze inside.
"Deck thirty six."
"Please restate required destination." the computer said.
"Deck thirty six ... Engineering."
The lift began it's thirty six deck fall as Carl leaned against the bulkhead, relieved that Scott's Daughter was safe, but almost in tears for the twelve children and ninety five crew that had perished ..........

Has he picked himself off the floor, Commander Paikea Apirana realized that he was wasting his time looking after the Vulcan male, who clearly was not from their time period. He would need to speak to the Commodore about it and this was the best time to do that.
"Doctor Saryn, I don't really know what you did to warrant time in the brig and frankly I do not care," Paikea said speaking to the Vulcan for the first time," I don't think you pose any threat to this ship and that being said I will leave you in the care of Commander Tintagel."
(Saryn)
"Illito, if he does anything or tries anything just knock him out with your phaser," Pai said with his trademark smirk," I'll be on the bridge where hopefully the Vulcan will let me help."
(Illito)
Paikea knew that his time on the Vesuvius would be very different than the Scavenger, but he could already tell that he would be alright as long as he stayed in touch with his friends; who he thought of as family. As he walked towards the lifts, Pai took the time to help any crewmember that had been hurt during the explosion. The explosion had been powerful, but he was convinced that it had come from a nearby ship.
"Commander could you help me carry this man?" a medical technician asked as Pai approached his location.
"Yes of course," Paikea said stopping to the right of the injured man who was clearly in pain," it will be alright crewman. We'll take care of you."
"Commander please hold him, this is going to hurt," the technician said as he grabbed a huge medical device. Paikea did as he was told and firmly took hold of the injured man. The piercing scream was deafening, but Paikea continued to hold the man down. His years of training allowed him to keep the man under control.
"It's alright, its almost over," Paikea said as he tried to comfort the clearly frightened man. Paikea turned to face the technician who was focused on his task.
"I'm sorry Edward, but I had to stop the bleeding now," the technician said as he also tried to comfort his friend," I know how much you love those legs of yours."
"Thanks Kal and thank you Commander," Edward said as he wiped the sweat and tears from his face.
"No problem, I'll check up on you later crewmen," Paikea said as he patted the man on the back and went back on his way towards the bridge. Even though he did not like the commanding officer of the Vesuvius; he already knew that she was in command of a great crew. "Deck 1, Bridge."
Illito had mentioned that Commander Parsons had been with her and Paikea was pleased to see his former first officer. As he walked towards the man he was surprised to see that he was the highest ranking officer left. It seemed that the Vulcan had left him in charge.
"Commander Parsons its good to see an old face," Paikea said as he extended his hand in friendship," how can I help?"

"Get us behind the Raven now, Ensign!" Jack said once he realized what was about to happen. Challenger was not going to survive a direct hit from the shockwave that would be made from the explosion. Jack had long ago accepted that fact that he was willingly to do things that were questionable to protect the people onboard the Challenger and this was not going to be different. If the Raven had to suffer the brunt of the damage it was okay with him as long as the Challenger was alright.
"Commander we need more power, I don't think we'll make it in time," the tactical officer reported from his station.
"I'm transferring all power to the trusters," Jack said from the command console. He knew that life support was barely operational and that they would run out of air in minutes, but they would worry about that later. It wouldn't even matter if the shockwave hit them. As he finished the power transfer he saw the frieghter hit the powerful ship and for the next five seconds everything seemed to stand still.
"Transferring all power to hull plating, brace for impact!" Jack said just before the initial shockwave hit them. Jack knew that he had been thrown at least ten feet from the captain's chair. He could taste blood in his mouth and he couldn't help but smile because he knew that Challenger had survived.
"Report, I need reports from all departments!" Jack said as he wiped the blood from his face and helped some of his bridge officers up.

ooc: so many posts and so many people...I got a tiny bit lost, so apologies if I do forget/misplace a few people! (poke me where I did ok?). This is catching up from Torek's explosions to present.
ic:
"What does he think he is doing?" Sonak snapped, pointing at the main screen, where Parson's vessel was drifting towards the giant Vackall vessel. "Torek what do you think you are doing!"
She was oblivious to whatever senior staff had remained on the bridge staring at her in amazement. There were few who had ever truly seen her mad, and the only one who had actually seen her beyond mad, was currently down in engineering.
"Shields!" she cried out, whirling around to face Kirk who was once more stood on operations. She prayed they would be raised in time but she knew Kirk would never be fast enough to get them fully operational in such a short notice.
The next thing she experienced was being thrown right off her feet as the small vessel exploded into a brilliant ball of orange and yellow. Since the Vesuvius had chosen not to move, where Raven had taken off with Challenger in tow, the Somma class vessel took the brunt of the explosion, thereby shielding the smaller Vackall vessels that had been positioned behind her.
Since the Vesuvius hadn't been expecting to be caught in an explosion, the ship had remained at yellow alert with powered down shields and weapons to show that they were non-aggressors and meant no harm to the giant vessel that had approached. Their hails still had gone unanswered.
Brushing debris off her uniform, the Vulcan captain climbed back to her feet. "Report!" she called out, surveing her damaged and battered bridge. Turning to Parsons, she motioned to the readyroom. "I will be in there, waiting for damage reports. You have the bridge commander."
She knew her ship had suffered severe damage, quite possibly beyond repair. Sensors were down, she knew for certain as the main viewcreen had been completely blank. "And find me the Raven, I have a few harsh words to direct at Captain Torek. Captain Kirk, please join me."
At that precise moment, Commander Apirana returned to the bridge. "Commander Apirana, status?" she queried, a lot milder than she had spoken to him before, "are your security teams ready to sweep the ship for invaders? We are powerless and helpless, anyone could have transported aboard at any given moment. I need you to secure all decks. I assume Doctor Tintagel is settled in sickbay?" Which was probably for the best as the last thing she wanted, was another confrontation with a Cardassian. However, she would have to face it at some point, if the woman was to remain aboard. She couldn't go on mistrusting her own chief medical officer, not for long anyway. But hate was a tough emotion to break, even if the holder of that hate was Vulcan.
