The Naal ship hung out there as if it were a physical threat. Oh, yeah, it is a physical threat. Lucy giggled a bit at herself. The tension was becoming stronger now.
A sound of pain snapped her around. Littlewood was bent over holding his head. Dr. Grey leaped to her feet. Three steps and she was at his side. The scanner showed a pressure build up within the vitreous humour. She slapped at her comm badge.
=/\= "Medical emergency. Two to beam directly to sickbay." =/\=
Another slap and another link opened.
=/\= "Dr. Trattler, meet me in sickbay." =/\=
The blue Federation shimmer of the transporter gave a soft glow and her sickbay floated into sight. Nurse Devon was there with the improvoline. He injected Littlewood with a quick flick of his wrist. The lieutenant immediately sunk into unconsciousness.
A tap on her shoulder caused Lucy to shift to the side. Standing, she watched as Trattler, the optician, helped get Lt. Littlewood into the examination chair.
::65 minutes later::
"It's been building for a long time, Dr. Grey," Trattler said, pulling the thin gloves from his slender hands. "The vitreous liquefied and collapsed in the left eye. I've removed and replaced the gel."
"Will he be alright?"
"Sure. He won't need glasses any more. I understand he liked wearing glasses. Damn nuisance if you ask me. They fall off when you least need them to, they get dirty and you don't know it until you're trying to read something important." Trattler shook his head at her. "He'll need to wear the eye patches for the next 12 hours. I'd like to keep him here in sickbay if you don't mind."
Lucy nodded. "That's good. You said "patches" as in plural."
"The right eye was nearing the same condition. It was expedient to do both," he explained.
"I'll ask the counselor to be here when you take the bandages off," Lucy said.
The CMO thanked Dr. Trattler then went into her office to read his report, make a few additions and send it to the XO. If Cmdr. DanTrek had questions, she was sure she'd hear about it.

"Commander the weapons are ready should we need them."
"Thank you, Mr. Park," Dan responded.
"They demand that we leave, do they?" Captain Updeik said. "Looks like we're not going to get away from this one easily. Commander Park, raise shields. Ensign Dulaney, scan that ship. Let me know if you find anything interesting."
"They didn't identify themselves as to what ship they are," Dan noted.
"Nor did they wish to be seen, yes," Updeik replied. "They obviously prefer to avoid being able to be identified later."
"Reopen the channel to that ship," Updeik ordered. "Naal vessel, this is the Nevada. The planet we are on course for contains a Federation colony. Regardless of whether you lay claim to this area of space or not, they have requested our aid. I intend to meet that request."

"Commander Park, raise shields." The Capitan ordered. "Aye sir." Park replied not bing the one to correct him since the shields were already up. As Jon worked on scanting the ship along with Ensign Dulaney to locate a weak spot. Park looked around as he heard a load scream and saw Littlewood hit the floor.
The doctor ran to him and contacted sickbay as they were transported away Park wondered if now was a good time to send the security officer down. He looked at Thomas and he walked to the Tactical station. "Sir Orders?" Thomas looked at him. Park looked at him. " Get Lieutenant Jones from the hanger deck and have him report to sickbay, Let him know why he is there to protect Salfer. I feel she will be attacked again and soon."
Thomas looked at him and nodded." Aye sir, right away." Thomas headed to the turbolift and entered. Looked down at his console he found a glimmer of a something in the aft scanners. "Ensign Dulaney, do you see anything in sector 4 on the aft scanners?"

"Naal vessel, this is the Nevada. The planet we are on course for contains a Federation colony. Regardless of whether you claim this area of space or not, they have requested our aid. I intend to meet that request."
The Naal commander got up quickly from his seat. The Starfleet Captain had annoyed him already. "Give me audio." He ordered, "No visual." The comm operator nodded and pressed a few buttons. "USS Nevada, the Federation have never before tried to defend this territory, if you ever did hold it, you have lost it through your negligence. You will doubtless disagree Captain, but you will soon have no choice. I am forced to destroy you." He cut off abruptly and made a slicing motion with his hand, indicating that the channel should be closed.
The commander was surprised by how short his patience had been. He saw it as ludicrous that the Federation would choose to defend their colony with this much zeal, had they not learned by now? They had no rights here anymore, he would teach them that. "Are the weapons still charged to full?" He asked quickly, demanding a short, fast answer from his subordinates. There were nods in his direction, from the people manning the entire bank of consoles at the rear of the sizeable control room. It required more than a single tactical officer to control and fire all of the ship's many different weapons. "Good," the commander said in reply, "What do the scans indicate, weaknesses, strengths?" He asked the sensor controller.
"Their armament is appreciable for a Starfleet ship, but nothing compared to ours. Err, their technology is better though, and I think they can outrun us."
"You think?" the Commander asked with incredulity, he sighed, "If that is so then we need to finish them quickly. Move us forward, and start firing, try to target key systems, I know it's difficult with these targeting scanners, we may have to resort to just pummeling their shields as much as possible. Helm, try to cut off any escape for them back to the Federation."
With his orders distributed the Commander settled back into his seat, once again relaxing and looking ahead at the forward viewscreen. In his foreground he could see all of the controllers working their controls frantically, the helmsmen maneuvered the giant vessel into a position to cut the Starfleet ship off from UFP territory. That was difficult, of course thought the commander, when considering the 3D nature of space. The crew knew what to do though, they could be ready to intercept any drastic movement from the Nevada off the 2D plane, by rotating their ship to face upwards/downwards relative to the Starfleet ship.

"Red Alert," Captain Updeik ordered.
"Park, Dulaney, start analyzing that ship for weaknesses," Dan ordered. "We're going to need them."
Just then, a weapons beam lashed out, shaking the ship. "Return fire!" Updeik ordered. The Captain's demeanor had completely changed in the past few minutes. Light-hearted and easy-going overall, but with fierce, perhaps deadly, determination when the heat was on.
"Captain, they've moved to block any retreat to Federation space," Oidar reported from the helm.
"Number One, weren't you an engineer before you were promoted to Command?" Updeik asked amidst the noise, looking over at the empty Engineering station.
"Aye, Captain," Dan said, moving over to the Engineering station. He analyzed the targeting pattern. "They don't seem to have any particular target, Captain. They haven hit weapons, engines, anything."
"It's a pummel attack," Updeik answered. "I've seen it before. They're targeting scanners are poor so they just hammer the shields. Doctor Grey, casualty report. Park, target their weapons."

Thomas entered the bridge shortly after he left. "Lieutenant Jones is in sickbay sir, The plan is starting." Thomas reported as he headed to the Secondary security console where the sensors were located.
"Red alert." the Captain Ordered As he received the communique from the alien vessel.
"Aye Captain, Red alert." Park hit the commands and the lights on the bridge and consoles switched from yellow to red. The ships weapons started charging and the torpedoes were arming.
"Park, Dulaney, start analyzing that ship for weaknesses." the Captain order. Park started scanning the ship and didn't find anything yet. He ran every scan he could think of to no avail. Thomas and Park switch stations Thomas was now at tactical and Park at the secondary console.
Park was reading the console info scrolling across the screen and saw that the ship has sensor that were worse then the Nevada. "Park, target their weapons." the Captain ordered. Park looked at Thomas and he locked on to the Naal vessel. "Weapons locked Captain."
Park continued to scan the ship but found nothing to help. The sensors were locking on to a few sections but noting that would help if he fired at them. Park looked over at Ensign Dulaney. "Ensign have you found anything to help?"
<Tag Dulaney>
She looked at him with amazement as she thought of something they all missed.
<Tag Dulaney>
"Good thinking Ensign. I missed that." Park said. Turning to Thomas since Park went over to stand by the ensign he took over scanning the ship. He ran a scan of the secondary Shields of the naal ship and found a weak point. "Captain i have located a spot on the naal ship from what i can see from scans is only protected my a minimal shield grid less then 15% sir." Park knew Commander trek was checking his scans he added "Ensign Dulaney gave me the idea to check for that glitch sir."

|Sickbay
Dr. Grey hit the send button on Triston's condition when she got a hail asking for a casualty report. They'd been hit, that much was certain but they hadn't been hit hard.
Devon swung into the doorway, saying, "Wounded coming in doctor. Minor injuries, a few broken bones but nothing life threatening."
Lucy nodded at the RN then made a supplementary report to the captain with a copy to the XO.
"Dr. Grey," a deep voice said from the front of her desk. She hadn't even seen him come in. "I'm here for my physical. I've been having blinding headaches lately. had it looked at a couple of times but the nurse couldn't find anything. Here's the past record."
A padd was handed over and Lucy began reading that Lt. Jones would pose as a patient with headaches as a cover to protect Lt. Cmdr. Salfer. Clearing the padd of information, Lucy set it down and stood.
"This way, Lt. Jones. I'll set you up with a CAT scan and do some blood workup."
Without giving their plan away, Lucy guided Jones into the hospital wing where she spent the next 45 minutes getting him settled into a bed where he could monitor Salfer without being obvious about it.
"Lt. Jones," Lucy finally said, "I want to hold you here for further tests. If you start getting one of your headaches, please have the nurse call me in. I'll handle this myself."
Jones nodded and thought to himself that it was a good code. A headache meant trouble but nothing obvious. If it was another attempt on Salfer's life, he wouldn't need a cover. Grinning, Jones relaxed into the soft pillow with his eyes partially closed. To anyone coming in, he would appear to be asleep.
Lucy stopped long enough to download the injury list onto a padd then headed back to the bridge. Littlewood was resting comfortably due more to the analgesics than the surgery he'd been subjected to.

They're not running... The Naal commander smiled, it wasn't an all evil smile, but it was a nasty smile. Triumphant. "Excellent." He stated, standing up at the same time.
A junior controller cleared his throat, "They probably think they can exploit the weak points in our shielding."
"They won't get that chance," the Commander had been ready for this eventuality, just as he had been prepared for many possible scenarios. It was an advantage he and his ship carried from spending weeks out here preparing for a fight. "Turn our weakest side away from them, and bring us right up close, to within 20 kilometres," the Commander ordered. "Rake them across their dorsal shields. Something is bound to get through there. With their bridge threatened they will surely run."
<tag>
"You mean to chase them deeper into our territory?" The same controller asked.
The Commander laughed. "Yes! Haha, our territory..! They wanted to help their colony, I'll help them do that."
"What about the prison ship?" Another controller asked.
The Commander looked around at his crew. Why had they suddenly become so questioning? "What is its current location?" he asked sighing. All of these petty points were detracting from the battle at hand, a battle that kept reminding them of its presence with the gentle, but steady, shaking of the ship under the barrage of fire from the Nevada.
"It is 2.4 parsecs from us, 5.1 parsecs from the Wezean system, it's heading towards the Naal homeworld." The Commander nodded in acknowledgement. Nothing more was said for a few moments before.. "We don't want the Nevada catching that prison ship Commander-"
"I know!!!" The Commander exploded suddenly and it was all he could do not to get up and strike the junior controller. The Commander himself wasn't of the Naal species, rather he was a member of one of the less abundant species in the Naal Conglomerate. It would not be good for intra-ship relations for him to be assaulting a member of the Naal, even if he was the ship's master.
"We will warn the prison ship, I'm sure their master will be grateful. Now," he huffed and sat heavily in the command chair, "Bring the ship in close, pound that Starfleet's dorsal surface..."

"Captain i have located a spot on the naal ship from what i can see from scans is only protected by a minimal shield grid less then 15% sir," Park reported.
Dan checked the scans. "Confirmed, sir. Presently at bearing Zero-Two-Seven mark Zero-One Five."
"Commander Park, target that area, full phasers," Updeik ordered.
"Sir, enemy vessel is closing," Oidar reported.
Looking up at the screen, Dan noted that the vessel was also turning. The vulnerable section was no longer in the line of fire.
It was times like this when Dan wished he still had full use of his mental abilities. He wanted to be able to know his Captain's mental state. But the holographic arm required too much concentration to focus the necessary mental energy. In the accident he had lost only his hand. But replacing that hand served up a double handicap. Now, he had his hand, or his mental powers, but not both. Using the mental abilities meant deactivating his hand, which he couldn't do at times like this. So frustrating...
As the Naal ship got closer, they fired in earnest, slamming the Nevada's shields with weapons fire.
"Dorsal shields down to 35%!" Park reported.
"Helm, bring us about," Updeik ordered.
"The enemy vessel is too close now for that, sir!" Oidar reported.
"Reverse thrusters then!" Updeik yelled back over the sounds of the chaos. "We need to get out of here!"

Tristan slowly awoke, He was immediately stricken with panic he couldn’t see anything, he tried to sit up but the pain he felt in his head stopped him. He did manage to raise his hand to his head and felt something covering both of his eyes, his immediate impulse was to rip it off, but he could recognize some of the voices he hears. They were nurses he had seen earlier in the day when he and his team had their medical examinations. He lay still trying to remember what happened as much as he though it was still a blur, he remembered being on the bridge and feeling pain in his head but nothing after that. He couldn’t remember getting to sickbay or why his eyes were bandaged.
Tristan heard someone approach his bed and lean over him; Tristan’s hand shot up and grabbed the arm of the nurse she yelped in surprise as Tristan used his grip on her arm to lift himself into a sitting position. His head pounded in pain as he moved but he didn’t let that stop him. He raised his head to where he imagined the nurse was.
“What the hell happened to me, what have you done to my eyes?”
Tristan couldn’t see it but the nurse turned and yelled out.
“Doctor Lieutenant Littlewood is awake.”
Tristan could hear that sickbay was busy, and he could feel the ship moving, as Tristan strained himself to hear he could have sworn he heard the power systems being pushed to the limits. An engineer’s sixth sense he thought to himself. With the wounded he heard in sickbay and the sound of the power systems Tristan began building a picture of what was happening on the ship. At that moment Tristan ceased caring about his eyes and more about the status of the ship.

“What is happening, Why am I here doctor.” Tristan said more aggressively than he had planned

It should have been all so easy. His mission had been a simple one of reconnaissance. Taking a small, unidentifiable stifle craft, he would return to an area of space he had not seen since his youth. Once there, he was to discover the target’s fleet movements, intentions and their capacity. The plan was not to get caught on the very first day.
Almost as soon as he had arrived in the system he had been surrounded, the supposed undetectable cloak had failed instantly and the shields had not lasted much longer. Within ten minutes he was being beamed away from the small cockpit and found himself under armed guard.
Despite the best attempts made by Intelligence, his captors were able to discover his identity easily, perhaps a little too easily for his liking. In fact, given the speed at which he was captured and the ease with which the plan had fell apart, he was starting to believe that he had been betrayed before he even left Earth.
Since then, his captors had interrogated him on a daily basis, depending to know the secrets of the organisation for which he worked. Although he had been fully trained in resisting most forms of persuasion there were just some things that not even Starfleet could train you for. He had tried not to think of the thousands he had betrayed or of the damage he had caused by revelling information, but at night, he was haunted by the screams of the soon to be dead.
He knew that things would only get worse once he arrived at his final destination. The government would use his capture as a massive piece of propaganda, parade him around in front of recording devices and beam his image throughout the quadrant. Then, once his usefulness was over, they would kill him.
Escape was not an option either. Starfleet presence in this sector was minimal. Even he could escape; there would be no one to assist him. His captors had many ships, which would waste no time in tracking him down.
Which sadly left him with only one choice. He could not allow the Federation to be destroyed and if it came to it, he was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for the people who he had sworn an oath to protect.
As these dark thoughts filled his head, he was aware of a sudden change in the atmosphere around him. Whereas his captors had previously been overly confident, they now appeared to be on edge, something had clearly un-nerved them and they were worried. As he paid closer attention, he realised that even their speed had increased. Although he could see no instruments to confirm that suspicion, a lifetime spent aboard starships allowed him to judge these things.
As he led in his cell and contemplated what could have upset his captor so, he began to wonder if he would be able to use it to his advantage. He was after all a Starfleet Admiral, highly trained in a wide range of areas and perhaps, just perhaps he would be able to find a way out after all.
As those around him worried, Paul Drew began to plan…

"Commander Park, target that area, full phasers,"
Park moved from the Secondary console to the main tactical station as Lt.Commander Thomas moved away. Thomas Started running a standered scan on sensors so they wouldn't get blindsided if another vessel approached.
"Aye sir....Enemy shields down 15% Sir." Park reported as another wave of shot hit the Nevada's shields. Park read the console."Dorsal shields down to 35%!" Park reported. Park kept firing weapons as the ship headed directly at them.
As Park was firing weapons on the Naal Ship Thomas saw a signal on a Naal Frequency. Thomas looked over at Jon and reported "Commander i am receiving a signal on a Naal channel stating they have captured a star fleet admerial.... One Paul Drew. Sir isn't Admiral Drew just assigned here as Co?" Park knew with Nack at the medical facility back on Qualinost. Park was guessing after this mission He would join them again. ~I guess that isn't happening now.~ Park thought.
"Commander Thomas scan the system and tell me if you find anything. Another ship or if you get more of the message."Park ordered. Thomas went back to the console and tapped command after command. reading the info that scrolled across the screen he was getting less and less happy about it. "Commander i have located a ship about 2.3 parsecs away and judging from it's course it maybe heading away from the Wezean system."
Park was intrigued "Scan the ship." Park order he knew 2.3 parsecs was close enough to scan the ship and see what kind it was transport, warship what have you. "I was to know what kind of ship it is." Park was thinking fast. Thomas's report seemed to take forever and park waited on pin's and needles.
"Sir i am reading a transport... Configuration seems to be prison." Thomas reported. Park was thinking ~That ship may have the admiral.~ But decided to report what he found to the command staff. "Captain, Commander we have received a signal coming on a Naal channel. They are reporting they have a Admiral Paul Drew in custody for spying. We have also located a ship Possible a prison transport not that far away heading on a course of 267 mark 34." Park paused as another set of weapons fire was hitting the ship. Thomas reported from the Tactical station "Shields down to 15%." Park continued "Sir if they have captured a star fleet admiral we need to get him back."

The Commander was pleased. The Federation vessel was moving at last, finally surrendering under his barrage of fire, burning their retros as a signal of retreat. On the viewscreen, the grey vessel's dorsal shielding seemed to flicker, it was on the verge of failing. The commander finally felt able to sit down again, this time with a great twisted smile spread across his face.
He was of the Lsju, the second most abundant race in the Naal conglomerate. The species was well known in the region for its even more egotistical and ambitious nature, traits which made them common as Commanders in the Naal's spacefleet. The Naal themselves were only slightly less arrogant. But then, and this was the attitude of the entire Conglomerate, weren't all organisations arrogant and self-pronouncing in their ideas and ideals? Those who controlled space, were automatically elevated into a position where they felt themselves capable to make claims over others around them, it was a necessary and inevitable consequence of possession.
The ship's Lsju commander laughed as the Nevada swung away from him and lit up its red impulse drive, powering its way away from his vessel and deeper into Naal territory. And still shots unleashed from the ship slammed into the shields of the Nevada's retreating form, most of the energy bolts were still finding the now largely unprotected dorsal surface, dealing further blows to the already damaged ship. At last, once the Commander considered the Nevada to be sufficiently punished he made a slicing motion to the weapon's controllers, in between his now manic laughter. The vibrations of the ship became less intense and settled back to the usual steady rhythm, indicating that the weapons had ceased in their sadistic bombardment.
The Nevada shrinked and faded to a grey dot on the viewscreen. The commander didn't bother asking for magnification. They already had the eyes of the sensors focussing on the ship, what would their organic equivalent be able to tell them that the sensors would not, in this situation? The grey dot continued to fade, until it was no longer discernible from the background of stars and other stellar matter, making up the medium of space. "Ship's course?" Asked the commander.
The response did not take long to come, "The Federation vessel is on a heading that will see them arrive in the Wezean system in 3 hours." The same controller then read the Commander's mind and answered the next part, "The prison ship reports that they have increased speed. But again, the Nevada could outrun them if they wanted. Also..." The controller paused as the report filtered through to his console, "They say that they have captured.. a Starfleet Admiral," he finished with astonishment in his voice.
The commander said nothing, he only smiled. It was a delightful turn of events, and he couldn't wait to see what the Nevada did next...
<tag Trek/Nevada>
The Helacaan sat in the kitchen chair. His brother sat opposite him, looking at him, trying to figure out what he was thinking. He didn't usually have this much trouble, but Seth's emotions were proving frustratingly elusive to capture this time. He tried a different tack, "What do you want to do?" Seth looked up. "Do you want to attack again?"
"We may have to.." said Seth slowly.
"Yes, especially if your Starfleet friends don't get here soon. I know.. I know.. If they get here." John said. "What will Updeik do, will he go for the prison ship?" He asked.
"I don't know, I don't know this man. His is a temporary assignment, Nack was my CO." Seth said tiredly. He scratched his chest without thinking, his mind on other things. He inadvertantly felt the scar running down the length of his torso and shuddered slightly because of it. "It's a double-edged sword," he said. "If Updeik brings the Nevada here, then we can try and force this damn capital ship of the planet, if he goes for the prison ship, they can rescue the captives.. including our sister. We can't have things both ways straight away, we'll have to wait on one of them." Seth stopped and looked at his brother. "You're still doubtful aren't you?"
John nodded and Seth nodded back. He could understand his brother's apprehension. Whether or not the Federation had the people of Ascension's best interests in mind was a massive subject of debate on the world, with most opinions leaning towards the anti-Federation direction, just as they always had. Seth was fairly sure they would not be abandoned though, certainly not by the Nevada.
While the Helacaan brothers were still sitting and thinking there was an almighty crashing sound from outside. In the instant that they looked to the window, the sound was coming from right in front of them. The wall seemed to disintegrate in billows of dust and smoke and... fire. The force of an explosion, yes it was an explosion, slammed into Seth's body and knocked him and John off their feet. Their sight went black.

As Drew sat on the floor of his cell, he heard someone enter at the front of the room. After being aboard the ship for a few days, Drew was now able to recognise most of his captors by the sound of their footprints, but this visitor was one Drew did yet to encounter. Listening carefully, Drew heard the visitor approach the guard on watch and say in a low whisper that an enemy ship was nearby. The urgency in the guards voice told Drew that whoever this enemy was, it was considered a threat to the ship, which could only be good news for Drew.
As the two guards continued their hurried conversation, Drew began thinking over his options. Upon his capture, he had been stripped of his special ops uniform and all of his equipment, being issued a prisoners outfit instead, which left him very little to work with. However, the jacket he had been given contained an old style zip with it, just a very small piece of metal, but Drew suspected if he could pull it off he would be able to use the small tool to gain access to the panel controlling the force field around his cell. All he needed was an opportunity to try it.
That opportunity presented itself sooner than Drew had expected when for both the guard and his visitor suddenly left the holding area. The two had still been deep in conversation and Drew suspected that they were going to some kind of briefing about the situation. Obviously they did not believe that Drew or any of the other prisoners who were being held on this level would be able to cause any trouble or need supervision during this crisis meeting.
Hoping that nobody was monitoring his performance on visual sensors, Drew broke away the zip from his jacket and then pulled against the panel near the front of the cell. The panel was stuck in place and it took Drew a great deal of effort to eventfully be able to pull it off. Once he had done, he was presented with a panel of circuitry. Although he was unfamiliar with this ship’s technology, there really was only so many ways that a device could operate and Drew soon found that he understood what had to be done.
Using his freed zip, Drew began to adjust some of the circuitry and realign the system. He did not know when his guards would be back, so he tried to work quickly, but at the same time he did not want to activate a security system. Finally he heard a clicking sound and then the forcefield of his cell collapsed. Saying a silent prayer of thanks to Starfleet’s training programmes, Drew ran out of his cell and headed straight towards the guards station.
The console layout was in a style and language that Drew did not recognise, and without his universal translator he had little hope of understanding the instructions on screen. However, as with the circuitry, there was only some many ways something could be done, he quickly scanned the console and decided that the large red button on the right was the one that would deactivate all the cells around him. Although it seemed risky to release so many prisoners, Drew knew that most of them were Human, and therefore hopefully could be trusted.
At first the prisoners did not seem to realise what had happened, but then slowly they all began to walk out of their cells and look around in wonder, as expected the vast majority of them were human, but there were also a few Vulcans, Klingons and more than one species that Drew did not recognise, he could only hope that a unified hatred of their guards could keep them together.
“Everyone, can we please have some silence,” Drew called out over the chatter and cheering that was now going on amongst the prisoners, when he had their attention, Drew began speaking again, “I am Admiral Paul Drew of Starfleet, like all of you I was captured by these thugs and tortured, but now we have an opportunity to fight back, something is happening out there that has our captors worried and we need to do whatever we can to make life for them even more complicated. If we can do that, then maybe, just maybe, we can get off this tin can and go home!”

Commander Park was waiting for Captain Updeik or Commander Trek to make up there minds he offered an idea. "Sir what if we send a team in two Runabouts we have in the hanger deck. We can use the marines who i am sure are ready to do some work and one security team." Park waited to get an answer but he knew time was of against then if that ship got to the planet thy may not have a chance to save the admiral.
Park knew just who he would send on the away team when he got permission to do it. Given he was the best one in small ship tactical combat he would lead the team with Beta team with him. Capitan Marks the marine liaison would come with him and fallow his orders of course. Park was just knew that Lt.Commander Thomas and Lieutenant Klino would take care of the ship with him off it. but having Lt.Commander Salfer in sickbay was still a worry for him. she was just posted to the ship and she was hurt right away. Park contacted sickbay since there was a pause in the fighting. "Park to sickbay. How is Lt.Salfer?"
Elric Devon was just running his last scan on the the Commander when the call came in for sickbay. Devon tapped his combadge "Sickbay here Commander salfer is just about to be release to her quarters." Park was relived that she was going to be ok."Thank you Park out."
Park then turned to Lt.Commander Thomas. "Commander inform both Beta team and Captain Marks we may have a away team mission. I will contact them soon." Thomas nodded and headed to the turbolift and entered.

"Agreed, Commander, but first we need to get out of this alive," Updeik called over his shoulder. "Priorities, Mr. Park. Helm, have we backed away far enough to get around the Naal ship."
"I believe so, sir."
"Captain," Dan said, speaking up. "I recommend rolling the ship so that the ventral side is facing the enemy vessel as we pass. Otherwise we'll take serious damage."
"Agreed. Mr. Oidar, please do so," Updeik ordered.
"Aye, Captain."
"Sir what if we send a team in two Runabouts we have in the hanger deck. We can use the marines who i am sure are ready to do some work and one security team."
"Mr. Park, focus on that ship for the time being!" Updeik yelled, annoyed that the CTSO wasn't giving the combat situation adequate attention.
As they passed around the Naal ship, the retreating dorsal side was hammered a few more times.
"Captain, we have hull breaches on Decks 4, 5 and 7," Dan reported. "Emergency force fields are holding, damage control teams are on their way."
As they fled the assailing vessel, Updeik asked, "Is the enemy vessel in pursuit?"
"No, Captain," Oidar reported.
"Very well, set course for the prison ship, but do not get within less than 1/4 of a light year. I don't want to alarm to tip them off," Updeik ordered.
The situation a bit more calm, he turned his chair to better face the CTSO. "Commander, while I appreciate your dedication to the welfare and security of superior officers, please do not allow you to neglect the tactical portion of your duties. We must analyze the situation first with regards to rescuing the Admiral before I authorize any rescue attempt. For now, conduct long range scans of that prison vessel. Gather as much information as you can. I want to know what we're up against."

"Priorities, Mr. Park." The caption said but Park just kept pressing his luck trying to feel out there captain. Park commented "Sir what if we send a team in two Runabouts we have in the hanger deck. We can use the marines who i am sure are ready to do some work and one security team." the captain spun at him a little annoyed "Mr. Park, focus on that ship for the time being!" Park snapped back to the task at hand. "Aye sir, Sorry sir." Stepping back to the Tactical Station as they got around the enemy ship and it gave no sign of pursuit the captain turned to him
"Commander, while I appreciate your dedication to the welfare and security of superior officers, please do not allow you to neglect the tactical portion of your duties. We must analyze the situation first with regards to rescuing the Admiral before I authorize any rescue attempt. For now, conduct long range scans of that prison vessel. Gather as much information as you can. I want to know what we're up against." Park looked back knowing he had made a mistake. "Aye,sir." Park moved to the secondary console and Lt.Commander Thomas took over the Tactical console so if they came after them again. Park started scanning the Prison ship as soon as they were heading that way.
Park tapped command after command and was collecting interesting data. There seemed to be a lot to work with. The ship had only light Shields so the Nevada could punch threw them easily.Park also noticed the rear of the ship has a large hold with many rooms/cells. The Nevada could take them down then use a wide beam to grab the "Prisoners." Park could tell from the long range scans there were humans, Vulcan's, Klingon's and many other races on the ship.
Taking the notes he thought were prudent and put them in a Padd for the Captain and Commander to review. Park looked at the Scanners again he saw some new data. The ship was changing it's course not a good deal but it looked like they may head for the Fourth moon in the Wezean system.
Park put that in the Padd as well. Park had an idea forming yet he held his ideas in check. He already stepped out of line. Park knew he would have a good plan when the time came. He know just had to wait for the orders to do so.

Tristan Littlewood explained as Dr. Grey explained how he had surgery on his eyes. Tristan was upset as she left to attend to the other patients in sickbay.
Tristan went to lay back down when he heard some crewmen talk about the damage the ship had sustained. Tristan waited until he heard Dr. Grey talking from the other side of the room before he lifted himself out of bed and walked out of sickbay. Tristan was blind but he had studied the Nevada’s schematics so much he managed to find his way to the turbolift and said. “Bridge.”
Tristan waited until he heard the door open and he stepped out, Tristan used his hands to feel the wall until he got to the engineering station. Tristan sat facing his work station when he realised he needed someone to act as his eyes. He turned to the science station and said. “You there I need your help.”
An Ensign walked over a bit surprised to find Tristan sat there with two eye patches over his eyes. She said. “Yes sir can I help you?”
Tristan moved his head in the direction of the voice and smiled as he said. “Yes I need you to read this console for me and do exactly as I say.”
The Ensign knelt down and read the readings aloud to Tristan. “Structural integrity at 87%, hull breaches on Decks 4, 5 and 7," Emergency force fields holding.”
Tristan sighed it would have been a lot easier if he could see for himself, “Ok reroute power from minor systems like Sonic showers, Replicators and transfer the power to structural integrity and force fields.”
Tristan tapped his comm. Badge =/\= Littlewood to Engineering report I want a statues update every fifteen minutes, Mr Selgur you are in charge until I can see I will explain later Littlewood out. =/\=
Tristan listened as he got the statues report from Engineering, Tristan couldn’t help but feel useless as he listened. Tristan turned and said to the captain.
“Engineering reports damage control is underway, Power has been re-routed from minor systems into the forcfields.”

Park was looking at his sensor map when the turbo lift doors opened he saw Lt.Commander Littlewood enter with patches over his eye's. ~Funny that sickbay would release him.~ Park thought but knowing the young eager officer he had left Sickbay AMA. When he was Littlewood ask an ensign to help him Park felt he would let sickbay know they are short one patient before either Doctor Gray or the head nurse found out.
Park turned to Lt.Commander Thomas "Inform sickbay that Littlewood is on the bridge and he has an ensign assisting him. I will keep a eye on him as well incase he has any issues with having "no eyes". Also check on Lt.Commander Salfer tell her i want to speck to her when she feels up to it." Thomas nodded and headed to the turbo lift passing Littlewood who was telling the ensign how to fix the ship systems.
Thomas Entered the turbo lift and ordered "Sickbay" As the lift descended to the deck Thomas was worried Would he find the person who hurt Lt.Commander Salfer? He would find them sooner or later but would that impress his CO? He felt since the meeting in Park's office he had not lived up to the Commander expectations. He would redeem himself with this investigation. Thomas was thinking so hard he almost didn't notice when the lift stopped on deck 2 and Lt.Commander Collins entered.
Thomas nodded to Collins and he paid it no mind like Thomas wasn't there ~Oh well.~ Thomas thought. The Lift doors closed again and the lift went down. Next it stopped on deck 3 where a blond haired ensign stepped in the lift. Smiling at Thomas she nodded at Collins. "Deck 7." She requested. the lift closed and Collins shifted he body to get closer to the door. The lift stopped on deck 4 and Thomas started to exit the lift as Collins moved out as well but then entered again quickly. ~Odd Must have forgotten something on deck 2.~ Thomas thought as he walked down the Hall and entered sickbay.
Sickbay was not as busy as he had seen it just before they shipped out on this mission but it was busy. A nurse came to him."Do you need medical attion Commander?" Thomas looked at her. "No just visiting Commander Salfer." the nurse showed him to her bedside and she looked better her hair was set around her head. ~she looks like an angel.~ Thomas thought.
Salfer's eyes focused on him and she smiled. "You here to give me bad news." She joked. Thomas looked at her and said." I have been put in charge of the investigation into your attack. Commander Park would like to speck with you when you feel up to it, However i have a few questions if you feel up to it?" Rebbecca smiled and replied "Sure Commander What i can remember i will tell you."

Thomas looked at Salfer "Excuse me Rebbecca one moment i have to see if you can be released from sickbay." Thomas headed over to the head nurse. Devon turned to him "Hello Commander Thomas. What can i do for you?" Thomas smiled at him "I was wondering can Lt.Commander Salfer leave sickbay?"
Devon picked up a Padd and scanned it. "Yes commander she can leave." Thomas looked at Lt. Jones keeping the act going. "How is Lt. Jones. Please send Commander Park a full report on their injuries," Turning away Thomas headed back to Commander Salfer. "Ok Rebbecca you have been cleared by Doctor Grey or so Devon tells me." As he helps Rebbecca off the Bio-Bed and out of sickbay. "So Commander Can you tell me? what you remember of your attack." Rebbecca walked next to Thomas into the closest turbo lift and said "Deck 7" The lift took them down. As she was starting to tell him the story the lift opened as they went out and turned to head for her quarters. As they passed a few section of the corridors and off to the left they saw a body. It was to young ensign from before and she was slumped against the bulkhead.
=/\= Thomas to Sickbay. Medical Emergency Deck 7 Section 12 Baker." Thomas reached down and checked for a pulse. Finding one he was relived. the turbo lift doors opened and a Medical team exited. Thomas tapped his combadge. =/\= Thomas to Collins. There was no answer. "Computer Locate Lt.Commander Collins. The Computer responded "Lt.Commander Collins is in his Quarters." Thomas was not sure he heard the computer right. "Computer please repeat your last response." the computer responded. "Lt.Commander Collins is in his Quarters."
Thomas tapped his Combadge =/\= Thomas to Collins. Please respond." Again no reply Thomas looked over at Rebbecca. She said "I will head to my quarters. you can find me there." Thomas saw a Officer head there way. It was crewman Wolf. "Mr.Wolf please make sure Commander Salfer gets to her quarters ok. She just got out of sickbay." Wolf nodded and helped her down the corridor. Thomas headed to the turbo lift stepping in Thomas ordered. "Deck 13." The lift took him down and was stepping out as he ran into a crewman looking scared and there was a cut on her arm.
"What Happened Crewman?" Thomas started to say. Then he heard shouting. Thomas Stepped out pushing the crewman into the lift. "Report to sickbay, Tell the Doctor he may have wounded coming." Moving out into the corridor he was looking at crewman running left and right into the nearest opening. Thomas hit his combadge "Security alert deck 13. All security teams to Deck 13 now. All Marines report to Deck 13 as well." A short time later Beta team arrived at his location handing him a Phaser Rifle Thomas looked at Lt.Commander Draco. "Where is Alpha and Gamma teams."
Lt.Commander Jennifer Draco Looked at Thomas ans replied. "They have been posted at every entrance off of the deck." Lt.Commander Thomas took the lead as Draco followed as they reached the corridor and found a Crewman laying in the middle of the corridor as he started toward the crew member there was a phaser shot over his head. Thomas saw Alpha Team come down the left junction as Gamma team Came down the other. Soon he saw Collins with a phaser rifle in his hands aiming at the Three teams like he was choosing who he was going to shot next. Thomas signaled for gamma team to shot high, Alpha to shoot low and his team to shot in the middle if his next plan didn't work.
"Rick, Rick what is going on." Lt.Commander Collins was looking at him with a confused look like he was not who he was looking for. "Rick put the phaser down. We can help." Collins looked around at the three teams and at the officer who was on the floor in front of him. "Oh my god!!!" Collins finally seemed to snap out of whatever it was he was in. Thomas started to him and took the phaser out of his hands. Thomas gave the next set of orders carefully.
"Draco take Lt.Commander Collins to the brig. I want an officer there at all times. Then have Doctor Grey come give him an exam i want to know if anything was wrong with him. Lieutenant Nos Get this crewman to sickbay and inform Jones he is no longer needed in sickbay. Then i want a full report of events up till now sent to Commander Park Ensign D'north that is your job." As all of the officers nodded and went about their tasks Thomas went to the quarters of Rick Collins and entered to see if there was an answer there.
As he looked around he found a Padd dated back several years. As Thomas continued to walk around he came to the last thing a computer monitor that showed a pic of two Lieutenant and an ensign the caption on the bottom showed the same star date as the Padd but just a day or so before and read Lt.Park, Lt.Collins and Ensign Marks. Thomas went back to the Padd he found earlier and looked at it better.
StarDate: 2384.62
Lt.Collins recording they have found no trace of Park's ship. I have been requesting the assistance of a full science vessel,However star fleet keeps giving me the cold shoulder leading me to believe they have closed the matter. I just hope Jon never finds out the truth about the mission........
Thomas picked the Padd up and headed out back to the bridge to inform Commander Park of what is happening. Entering the lift he was thinking what fun the interrogation of Collins would be.

OOC: Something for you to do Admiral.
The black silhouetted form rested against the grey background. It slumped down into itself as it heard the clanging of metal on metal. It was a sharp, harsh sound that pierced into the ear-drums of the darkly dressed man - whom the silhouette belonged to - much like the sound of the ship he was on during it's slow, painful ascent into orbit of Ascension, the world from whence he came. The world he did not think he would be going back to.
The enemy had come for him during the night. They had stole through his home, found him in the back room, murdered his guests and had, truly inexplicably, found it necessary to keep him alive. Of course, they needed to take prisoners as part of their trade, but why him? Really? What they had done and the way they had done it, had not been part of the plan.
The clanging of the prison cell level door down-left from him brought itself up in his mind again, the reason being that one of the prisoners had escaped and was now walking down the tight corridor outside the cells. The man watched this escapee severely, as he limped his way down the corridor, he saw him reach the wider room-like section at the end of the line of cells and could just see enough out of his one to see the man at the control console. The dark-dressed Wezean prisoner had not yet got off the floor of his cell. He had crawled, or shuffled even, to see what was going on outside of it. Were the rumours true? thought the man. Something had occurred to him. Could this escapee be Starfleet. He had heard a rumour, more than a rumour while he had still been on Ascension: that the UFP were coming. Of course, he was only speculating. This person could be an independent mercenary.. anybody; but breaking out of these cells did require some specialist training and ingenuity that could only be learnt, this the man knew.
The forcefield keeping the Wezean man in collapsed then, as did all the other forcefields of all the other cells surrounding him. He crawled slowly, making his way out of the cell. He grunted in pain as he bashed his already damaged left knee on the ledge of the cell entrance. The man drew himself up and dusted himself down, he had been allowed to keep his dark overall-like clothes for some reason... perhaps from lack of prison clothes maybe.
As the man up ahead, the very one who had escaped and freed them, started speaking, the Wezean man widened his eyes. He was disbelieving, his gut feeling had been correct. Maybe that was why I was recruited... he thought dryly. He felt a surge of hate come from within him, it spiralled up from deep inside. He grew more and more contemptful towards the Starfleet Admiral ahead, but he refrained from showing it, despite the volume of fellow prisoners around him that would doubtless hide him from the Starfleet man's attention. He could not believe that this Admiral was here for the good of Ascension, he didn't expect he was there for bad either. They just didn't care.
Once the Admiral had finished his speech, he walked off to the side and was about to engage a willing group of Klingons in conversation when the man cut in between the two parties. He took the Admiral by the arm. "Excuse me," he said, "I wish to ask a question.." He felt the Starfleet react to his pull on his arm, but held tighter and managed to lead the Admiral into a very narrow and dark corridor off to the side and away from the crowd of other released prisoners. Once there, he quickly shoved the Starfleet in the small of the back and away from him. Then, drawing his knife from the hidden recess of skin in his right forearm, he stepped forward towards the turned back of Admiral Drew. He raised his knife, a worn yet sharp and short blade, heirloom of his family, back over and behind his shoulder, preparing for a stabbing motion. "One less Starfleet for Wezea to worry about..." the man muttered as he took his last quick step forward...

Looking around at the escaped prisoners, Drew tried to judge their reactions to freedom. Many, understandably, were reacting with shock and would be unlikely to prove particularly use in any attempts to take control of the ship, but more than a few could certainly prove useful. With those thoughts in mind, he approached a group of Klingons who were near the front of the crowd, no matter the conditions; Klingons could always be trusted to fight.
“The battle to take this ship will be difficult,” Drew said walking towards the group, “but I know that with your support, victory shall be ours.”
“You speak with a warriors heart human,” the lead Klingon replied, beating his chest, “we will assist you.”
“Excuse me,” a low voice said, as Drew felt a hand tightly grip his arm “I have a question.”
Drew looked round to see a man dressed in dirty black overalls approach. There were bruises along the man’s face and he walked with a limp, but his tight was firm and Drew felt uncomfortable with the force with which he was being held.
Feeling that he had no choice, Drew nodded his consent and allowed the man to lead him to a corner of the room, away from the rest of the crowd. Once they were some distance away, the man suddenly let go of Drew’s arm and then pushed him forward.
Caught off guard, Drew held his arms out in front of him to break his full. As he started to pull himself back up, he heard the unmistakable sound of a knife being drawn, he was aware of the man making sudden movements behind him. As the man lunged towards him, Drew swung round and tried to push the man away, but his attacker was surprisingly strong. The two were locked in a deadly battle for the knife, but thankfully for Drew their struggle had not gone un-noticed. The Klingons Drew had been talking to had realised what was happening and were now rushing to Drew’s aid. Strong though he might be, Drew’s attacker was no match for a group of Klingons and was quickly overpowered.
“Who are you?” Drew demanded as the Klingons held the now disarmed man, “and what the hell was all that about?”

|Sickbay
Lucy stepped into the hospital unit, picked up Tristan's medical chart and started keying in the latest data.
"Tristan, I know you're awake. You're going to be fine," Dr. Grey said quietly.
Being blind wasn't new to her. She'd had a bout with a compound that gradually caused her to lose her sight in the early days of the academy. She'd been so scared, she didn't want to tell anyone she couldn't see. Running into a wall was the instructor's clue that things weren't right and he took her to sick call immediately. The blindness was temporary, but it left a lasting impression on Lucy and she never, ever wanted that to happen again.
“What is happening, Why am I here doctor.” Tristan said aggressively.
"It's okay, commander," Lucy replied as quietly as before. "The optician replaced the fluid that was building up behind your eyes. You'll be able to see without glasses in about four hours. Sorry, you'll need to stay here until the eye patches come off."
::later::
Word of Tristan being on the bridge reached Dr. Grey's ears within the following hour. Releasing a mild curse, Lucy spun around to Dr. Vrenn, saying, "I'm going up there. You can handle this. Keep Samhandril in a coma until I can look over the CAT scan results. Adarnis needs a bone knitter on his leg as soon as you can get to it."
"I will take care of things here, Dr. Grey."
Inside the 'lift, Lucy steadied herself with the small railing. She was angry that she'd missed guessing that Littlewood would make his way to the bridge against her advice. He knew the ship well enough to know she was or had been under attack and he would charge around trying to do something about it. Lucy should have known that!
=/\= Thomas to Sickbay. Medical Emergency Deck 7 Section 12 Baker." =/\=
=/\= "Vrenn here, Thomas. Medical teams are on the way." =/\=
The emergency link closed on Dr. Vrenn's final words. Lucy thought of changing direction then thought better of that. Tristan was her first priority right then. If he made an error in judgement, it could cost them a lot of lives.

Park saw the Medical alert from his tactical board and wanted to head off the bridge however he knew Thomas had everything under control, He would contact Park if and should he need him. Park was scanning the Prison ship when he saw the security request for security and marines.Park knew he should be leading a security team however he was on the bridge and they were still at Red Alert.
Park saw Lieutenant Klino standing around looking tense. Park knew why he was. The same thought was running in both their head's. ~ This could be an attack on Salfer." Park motioned her to the turbolift. As she was heading past his console he told her. "Grab a few marines to assit you." Klino nodded and was entering the lift as Park saw her tap her combadge.
One hour later--------------------------------------------------
Lt.Commander Thomas entered the bridge and headed right to the tactical station knowing Park would want to be briefed. Thomas answered his question as soon as he was at the station. "Rebbecca is safe in her quarters. Crewman Wolf assisted us by getting her to her quarters." Park relaxed on that. He was worried about her know where the medical emergency was and where the phaser fire was coming from.
Thomas Continued. " I have ordered Commander Draco take Lt.Commander Collins to the brig. I left an officer with him at all times. Doctor Grey came and give him an exam so we can see if he is under any influence. Also Lieutenant Nos took the injured crewman to sickbay and informed Jones he is no longer needed in sickbay. " Handing Park on of two Padds he held in his hand "Ensign D'north had made a full report so you are up to speed about the attack." Thomas continued.
Park asked Thomas if he knew who was the injured crewman. Thomas looked at him and reported. " Yes sir it was Lieutenant Junior Grade Brad Goodhart." Park knew the officer but couldn't place the department he was assigned too. "He is with Navigation correct?" Thomas was thinking and said. "Yes i think he is. Should i inform his department head about what has happened?" Park nodded and Thomas hesitated Park knew it was information Thomas was fighting with himself to tell him.
Park looked at him and knew he was going to regret saying the next word. " Lt.Commander Thomas i have never done this with my Second in command but i order you to tell me what is on your mind." Commander Trek turned at that because he knew Park was a even tempered Officer. He looked to Park and then to Thomas and the look on his face was of pure shock. Thomas balled his fists and turned. "Sir now isn't the time. I will tell you in your office later with all due respect." Thomas turned and the look in his eyes was of sadness. Park nodded. " In my office after you interrogate Collins and i am able to leave the bridge." Park said with a no nonsense tone of voice.
Thomas turned and left the bridge and Park saw many member of the bridge crew looking at him. Trek looked at him one more time and turned back to his work. Park knew he was going to send a message to the ships Counselor when he got a chance. Park was going to see her first chance he got if she didn't contact him first.

Thomas stepped into the lift a little shocked and upset. Park never spoke to him like that and it took all his energy not to hit him on the bridge. "Brig." Thomas ordered he still had an interrogation to complete. The lift stopped on deck 15 and Thomas exited heading into the brig.
Collins was laying on the cot like bed inside the brig. Thomas walked to the arch way and looked at Collins. Thomas walked over to the replicator. "Computer Coffee Light and Sweet." The coffee appeared in the receptacle. Thomas took it and grabbed a chair. Sitting by the archway Thomas looked at Collins. "Rick what happened? Did this old log entry make you start thinking about Lt.Commander Park your old collage." Collins looked at him and said nothing."Come on rick." Thomas continued. "Please tell me something." Collins looked at Thomas and then to the Padd in his hand. "You were in my quarters, you no good scum." Collins screamed at him and approached the archway. "Carefull rick the force Field."Thomas warned. Collins looked at him. "I am not saying another word till i speck with Commander Park." Collins replied. Thomas looked into the cell with annoyance. "Rick i was placed in charge of the investigation. So you have to answer to me. Not Commander Park!!." Thomas kinda yelled that last past to the point where the guard that was standing at the Brig terminal looked up and his hand reached for his phaser. Thomas held his hand staying the officer and he returned to whatever he was doing.
Lt.Commander Rick Collins sat in the cell getting really annoyed looking at this lesser officer with content. "I am a Lieutenant Commander and head of the Astrometrics department. So if i ask to speck to your Commanding Officer. Then i want to see him." Thomas smiled at him." Sorry Lt.Commander Collins he is unavailable so it is me or you just wait till your court Marshall." Collins looked at him and knew he was right Collins choice this time to attack so he could be approached by Park not one of his underlings.
Thomas looked at him. "Well Rick i will return in an hour." Thomas stood up and headed to the door as Rick yelled out. "I had nothing to do with Park's disappearance." As the doors closed on Thomas he smiled he is cracking a mad man. Thomas had access to Park's office since he was Assistant Chief of Security Entering the office he still had the coffee in his hand and headed to the desk. "Computer Display Star fleet service records for Lt.Commander Rick Collins. Display on large display screen." The computer Beeped in reply to Thomas's inquiry and the Large screen in Park's office flashed showing Collins. Thomas looked it over ~Strange no record of the Warp test program he was in.~ Thomas thought.
"Computer Locate and display Service record for Lt.Commander Rick Collins pertaining to the Warp project he was in on stardate 2384.0205." Thomas was waiting for an answer but got instead.
