Magellan made sure he arrived last. It was a negotiating tactic that he had learned in one of his hosts previous lives and it was almost a habit now. Although Federation diplomats were present he was there to chair the talks, it was after all his proposal that Starfleet had tentatively approved.
He looked briefly about the room. A number of tables were arranged for the main delegates.
Vebn and Tedak sat at the Romulan Table whilst Saarok and Ezedriana were at the Federation one. Saarom however was due elsewhere and would miss most of the summit.
Lovine sat impassivley at a third table. Tholians were so alien in their lack of bipedal symmetry that they were notoriously hard to read.
Lastly was a table reserved for Major Korok. The old klingon sat wearily as if defeat were already on the table. It was not something Magellan had expected from the old soak.
"Thank you for coming" Magellan greeted, "I suggest as all parties are present that we begin."
"All parties?" Tedak asked, "What about the Kasan-thar?"
Lovine seemed to bristle at the mention of the enigmatic race that was sytematically eating eats way through their hatcheries.
"No government here has diplomatic relations with the Kasan-Thar. Only the Tholians are at war with them and until they ask for our mediation on this score we are not at liberty to negotiate. Our job here today is to end the conflict between the Tholians and the Klingons, something I am sure will greatly benefit both nations. As a major galactic player and as a possible instrument in peace a romulan delegation has been permitted."
Magellan paused to call up some graphic depicting the war zone.
"As you can see, seperated as you both are by us your war efforts are unsustainable and weakens us all. Your lines of communication are too long. Both of your races are proud but you need to acknowledge that there must be a way for you to reach an understanding regarding the colonies the Tholians have planted in Klingon space."
Magellan looked at them all a moment,
"Alright - who is going to make the first move?"

OOC: This is a JP between myself and Ambassador Tedak
IC:
Lovine was sitting patiently as the time for the summit approached, she knew she was early so allowed the others time and was not waiting long before a federation ambassador arrived. Lovine watched from her seat as more and more arrived in the room, as the time for the summit came Lovine noted that the only person missing was Admiral Lin. ‘The man who wants peace is late, he is going to find a moody Tholian if he keeps me waiting much longer’, noting that Tedak was sitting to one side looking mildly bemused at the Klingon diplomat Lovine decided she would see how the Romulan was, she had decided that he was more pleasant to speak to than Vebn had been. “Hello again, this morning seems quite pleasant, or at least for now. May i ask if it is normal for this admiral to be so late?”
"Greetings madam ambassador," Tedak replied politely, while offering a light bow insofar possible while seated. "Yes Admiral Lin is generally the last to arrive, though he is hardly late."
"Well to my time piece the time allocated to this summit has passed, so to me he is late" Lovine knew she was probably being a bit rude, but the one thing she hated was people being late. "What do you know about this Klingon? I have not met him before and it might help me"
"Korok knows his business," the Romulan replied, somewhat tersely, "I have not had many dealings with him. Vebn might know him better than I do, I tend to deal with Ambassador Ji'Zhan of the Debrune. I fear I know very little to nothing about him, and I also feel I do not wish to know." His eyes sparkled angrily. "I am...not fond of Klingons," he admitted softly.
Lovine looked at the Romulan, she was surprised to hear that he did not like the Klingons that much, maybe there was hope for him yet "The Klingons are honourable warriors, if a bit short sighted at times, i am hoping that their honour will help us reach a peaceful end to this war rather than help both of us wishing to snap the others necks" Lovine could not help but feel she wanted the latter, but she knew they needed peace to bring the fight back to the Kasan-Thar.
Nodding, Tedak settled his gaze on the Tholian diplomat, studying her. "Yes they are honourable, but so are Romulans. It is only a matter of perspective on how one defines honour, is it not?" His light eyes shone brightly, though appearing darker than usual. "I assume you could snap his neck as easily as you could mine," he pondered, gauging her reaction. 'Klingons are a warrior species, they need a war or a brawl to survive. Without it, they lose the essence of their species."
Lovine would have smiled if she was capable at the suggestion that she could snap the Klingon's and the Romulan's neck easily, listening to the last Lovine responded "That as it may be, the Admiral is right in the fact that my people can no longer maintain this war, and if we do we may not lose to the Klingons but the Kasan-Thar will almost definitely tear my people apart". Lovine hated admitting that fact but she knew her people's limits, and while the Klingons and the Tholains were evenly matched, the Kasan-Thar were more powerful.
Again, the Romulan simply nodded. "War is generally costly on a population, in more ways than one. I lost my son to this senseless war, and my sister was killed yet over another feud." He shook his head in sadness. "Vebn might see this as treachery, but I prefer the openness of the Federation as opposed to my own species' xenophobic ways. Don't get me wrong, my heart lies with the Empire, I just can't always condone its ways."
Lovine understood the Romulan’s fear of detection, she knew that the Romulan’s Tal'Shiar was much like her Records Achieve when it came to finding traitors. "My people feel interaction with other races is an unwise idea, but thankfully that feeling is slowly moving out of the Assembly, only the most oldest member still hold to those ways. Had they been in control this summit would never be" Lovine knew if the records officer was here he would have had here killed for that statement but he was not, and he supported the older generation unaware the younger was beginning to change the Assembly's ways
"It is the children, who need to change the ways of their elders," Tedak acknowledged, smiling thinly. "Sometimes, I believe Vebn sees me as an errant child. Compared to him, I am still very young, indeed. And my views are often opposite of his, while we both have only the Empire's best interest at heart. As for the Kasan-Thar, I know not how to deal with them. I have never met one, thus I cannot judge fairly."
Lovine's anger grew, her hate for the Kasan-Thar rang in her voice "They are dirty child killers, they do not attack us directly, they instead attack our hatcheries, it is like them attacking a hospital with all your new born children resting within" Lovine knew it was a strong connection that would help the Romulan see what she meant.
Tedak was no telepath, but even he felt her anger as keenly as a telepath might. It took a lot of his willpower not to cringe before her. Instead, he inclined his head, avoiding to meet her gaze. "That is your opinion and your observation," he conceded mildly, "but since I have no personal experience to draw upon, I cannot judge. It is too oneside to only take in one side's views, and not try to see the other. That's called diplomacy, and that's why we're here." He knew immediately he had to tread carefully, as Lovine's temper was well known, and preceded her reputation.
Lovine ignored the comment, she knew the Thar well enough, and she knew that there would never be any diplomacy between her people and them for as long as one Kasan-Thar still existed. "Let us move off the subject of the Kasan-Thar, they are best not spoken about in civilised conversation." Lovine checked her time piece again before continuing "What should i expect of this admiral, will he be trying to force a settlement or will he nudge and avoid direct intervention" Lovine had heard that the federation president had tried to broker a deal before and had failed due to forcing both sides to much.
"Lin is a fair man," the Romulan explained, "personally, I trust his judgement...most of the time at any rate." There were certainly instances where he'd been ready to kill him, and there were also recorded instances where Lin had come away from a fight with a black eye, and he himself had found himself stunned into unconsciousness as a result. "He will not avoid a direct confrontation, but he's very much a Federation man. He's honourable, but if possible he will avoid a fight." Tedak shrugged. "He tends to fight with words, rather than deed. If he were Romulan, he'd never have made his rank or station." It was an insult, and Tedak knew it.
Lovine looked at Tedak, the last bit had confused her but from what little she had learned of the Romulans she understood part of what it was. "Well i am sure at least once during this peace talk either me or this Korok will storm out of this room, it is almost as inevitable as a person dying." Lovine knew she was possibly being a bit negative but she knew herself well enough to know she had a gift for exploding with anger at least once a day.
"Are you prone to killing your adversaries then?" the Romulan queried, arching an eyebrow in surprise. "In that case, I shall endeavour to stay out of your reach, should you lose your temper."
Lovine thought back, there had been many who had angered her, and only a few still alive to speak of it, but she knew she rarely harmed those not involved in her rage at the time "Unless you plan to anger me, i would think you are safe, but i believe it is always safe to be in another sector when my temper is on the war path, or at least that is what i have been told" She remembered the head of science's comment after one of her temper flair ups had resulted in one of his scientists ending up outside the airlock.
"I am not without skill myself," Tedak confessed, "I am an able fighter, with a temper of my own to be reckoned with. But I abhor unfair fights, and will not resort to cheating. When I fight, I fight fair, but I do fight to win."
Lovine enjoyed the thought, this man is rising up in my estimations quite quickly, if only he was a Tholian. Lovine got off that thought quickly, she was neither in the mood for nor needing a mate, and would prefer to keep it that way. "To cheat is to lose next time, let us hope we will both not need to use our skills this day, it is better to strike yourself than to strike another" Lovine liked the last quote, it was a well written story that was quite popular amongst the Tholian's until the Kasan-Thar.
"Or to strike when a strike is least expected," Tedak added quietly, "to strike oneself only shows of stupidity." He nodded towards Lin, who had continued to address the diplomats, despite their hushed conversation. "Listen and learn," he advised, "and form your own opinions. Don't let someone as closeminded as Vebn cloud your judgement. Seek your own friends and your own counsel." With that, Tedak turned away from the Tholian and resettled his attention on the Trill admiral.
Lovine nodded, or what most humanoids would take for a nod, "A man claiming to be a friend before you meet is your worst enemy, i make my own mind and this summit shall be interesting, may you live long and in peace" Lovine moved back towards her chair as Lin's address came towards a close, Lovine heard Tedak speak to Lin but not to what was said.

Korok listened to Magellans introduction only half hearing the words. His attention was dwelling on Lovine and Tedak who chatted amicably in low whispers. He was well aware that the Romulans had supplied the Tholians with cloaks to enable their secret colony project and realised now that the friendship between the two races may be more than it seemed.
It was strange to feel so sober. He had not had a drink in several days and already he was finding his mind working quicker, it was a shame though, he still had a case of excellent vintage blood wine.
Magellan finished and eager to make his mark Korok cleared his throat and stood.
"We will not surrender. Under any circumstances. We have done no wrong. The High Council has granted me rights to negotiate an honourable settlement but I make it clear that we will require the Tholians to remove their colonies from our space and pay reperations for the damage they have inflicted on the Defence Force. We settle for nothing less. Our warriors are prepared to continue the fight to the death"
Magellan smiled wryly,
"Thank you Major for opening the debate so stridently. I am pleased you see the opportunity for peace. Perhaps you would like to rebut that statement Ambassador Lovine, state your terms as it were and we can move on from there?"

Lovine listened to the Klingon’s suggestion, as the admiral came to ask for Lovine to speak she could not help but laugh “Ha ha ha, I know your people are arrogant but please, reparations will never happen, your forces have done just as much damage and i think that sending your warriors to your Sto-Vo-Kor is enough of a payment if you ask me” Lovine laughed again at her own joke before continuing “These are our terms, three quarters of the planets we have colonised are to be handed over to us permanently, while they will trade any unneeded resources to your people they will govern themselves without your ships being nearby.” Lovine felt this might not go down well, but her government had actually wanted less so she had room to bargain with. “I believe that would stratify my government, and there would be a formal agreement that no new colonies will be placed without consent of the Klingon high council first.” Lovine knew that the last part would stay no matter what happened next.
Lovine nodded to the admiral before looking back to Tedak, Lovine could not tell if he liked the counter offer or not but Lovine nodded to him as well before turning back to the Klingon “Do we have a deal?”

Knowing that Klingon's would never agree to the current agreement, Ezdreiana allowed her voice to be heard for the very first time.
"Lovine, you know that the High Council will never agree to give up so many colonies," Ezdreiana said finally able to make up her mind. While Admiral Lin's arguements had been very convincing, Ezdreiana tended to side with the Klingons. While it was no secret that she had ties to members of the High Council, Ezdreiana had tended to sided on the air of caution but these meetings needed to get them somewhere," Korok the Defense Force will not be able to sustain any more losses. We know that the Empire is having a hard time finding the adequate resources to rebuild your fleets in time."
(Korok)
"Lovine, while you may have the ships, you do not have the man power to sustain your ships," Ezdreiana said forcefully," you need those planets for your hatcheries. What if we could find you other planets?"
(Lovine)
Ezdreiana knew that the Klingon's would object to this. Expanding the Tholians territory was something they would not let happen easily.

"Lovine, you know that the High Council will never agree to give up so many colonies," Ezdreiana said Lovine looked at the federation ambassador who had up till now remained silent on the edge of the discussion, she turned and looked at the Klingon first and spoke again " Korok the Defense Force will not be able to sustain any more losses. We know that the Empire is having a hard time finding the adequate resources to rebuild your fleets in time." Lovine enjoyed watching the Klingon shuffle in barely accepting agreement but was quickly brought back when Ezdreiana turned her attention on her. "Lovine, while you may have the ships, you do not have the man power to sustain your ships," Ezdreiana said forcefully," you need those planets for your hatcheries. What if we could find you other planets?" Lovine considered the statement and checked her notes on all the planets presently in what is considered Klingon territory “At present, only 15 percent of our colonies are already incubating and hence cannot be moved until the babies hatch, but the remaining colonies can be moved at present, but the number of planets was worked out to be the necessary number to replace those we have lost”
Lovine knew she was going to have at least one argument, and she had her bets down as to when the first representative here would storm out the door, which was in 20 minutes if her sense of time was still working. Before anyone could respond to her comment there was a sudden commotion at the door followed by a security officer entering the room and moving around to speak to Lovine directly. “I am sorry to disturbed madam ambassador, but there is a Tholian gentleman, least i think he is a male, wishing to enter this summit, he says that you are expecting him and will grant him entry?” Lovine looked at the human, unable to initially work out who it was she spoke quickly “I have no other people on my staff that are permitted to be here so could ...” Lovine suddenly remembered the one officer that would murder her if he was not allowed in. “Let him in, i will deal with him in here”. The security officer needed little convincing as he made his way back to the door and allowed the Tholian to enter, Lovine looked at the male whose black cape moved lightly as he moved across the room to join Lovine “Madam Ambassador, i hope i am not too late” Lovine knew better than to listen to the records officer, he would be a problem. “be silent, unless you are spoken to” was all Lovine told him before turning her attention back to the group “I apologise for this failure of a Tholian, he will not speak again, now where were we, ah yes colonies, as i have stated three quarters of the planets we occupy as colonies are needed to maintain our numbers, if you are willing to give us this number without disturbing the colonies that have already been set up completely then i believe a peace treaty can be found”
Lovine knew this would not be accepted but she would still try for the old goal as it would give her much pull in the Assembly after that. Lovine could not help but notice that Lochna had moved away from her and towards the Romulan delegation, she had noticed the two Romulans’ did not seem to be getting along well and she could use some entertainment, carefully moving her arm to release the device hidden in her armour she waited for the right moment. Had anyone else in the room noticed the new device in her hands they would think she planned to set off an explosive, but they would be very wrong as the device in her hand would temporarily cause the records officers suit to malfunction and hence cause him to trip over his own feet. Lovine checked the over compartment remained sealed, as that contained her dagger should she need it. As Lochna reached the table and was about to introduce himself to Vebn Lovine flipped the switch and watched as the records officer instead of walking up to Vebn ended up falling into Vebn and then into Tedak, Lovine had not expected the last person to end up at the bottom of a pile up but she could only just keep herself from laughing at the scene that was developing at the Romulan table. Carefully returning the device to her compartment she watched as the results of her little prank unfolded, ‘this will serve the little rat right for challenging me and calling me lady’. Lovine had not thought of the fact that Tholains were quite heavy and that the two Romulan’s might be seriously injured.
TAG: Vebn/Tedak & ALL
--30 minutes earlier, from Officer Lochna’s POV--
Lochna looked around his quarters with disgust, Lovine had personally seen to arranging him quarters, an after a little checking Lochna had determined he was as far away from both the embassy and Lovine’s quarters as she could have managed. The quarters were spacious, but were under furnished in comparison to Lovine’s quarters, Lochna was use to the scorn and hate that came with his position but that did not mean he was not going to ensure his duties were done to the best of his abilities no matter what Lovine or the Assembly itself did to stop him. Reading the last few entries about all those to be present at the summit Lochna was amused by those that were to be present, but most would side with the Klingons as they knew them better and had worked with them longer.
Walking the many corridors that made up the base, Lochna was aware his was latter than the arranged start time, but he knew humans and the like were never on time nor early so he aimed to get there as the talks started so he would not have to waste his time. Arriving at the summit chambers Lochna looked at the security officers as he approached, “Records Officer Lochna of the Tholian Assembly, i am expected by Ambassador Lovine, please allow me entry” the security officers looked at each other “I am sorry sir, your name is not on the list and we cannot allow you to enter.” Lochna argued with the guards they finally agreed to go in to check his identity and then would make a decision. Lochna had expected it to take moments, but after a minute or two the security officer returned and said he could go in “Well about time”.
--events in Lovine’s post—
Lochna decided that he was not going to seat with Lovine for now and decided that he would speak with the Romulan’s as they were a neutral party here and did not really need to be here, so he walked over noting the aged look that told him that he was Vebn, the ambassador that had traded them the cloaks was on the left hand side looking like he was thinking in depth about something, Lochna made his way around the many tables until he approached Vebn, “Ambassador s'Khellian, my name is Off..” Lochna did not get any further as he felt his legs all stop moving at once but he had already committed to the next step, and gravity did the rest as Lochna fell forwards crashing into Vebn who in turn falling from his chair hit into the other Romulan launching him across to the other side, Lochna was glad that he had not fallen on top of any of the Romulan’s directly as he doubted they could survive having 130kg land on them like that, but Vebn looked shocked and a bit beaten up, and the other younger Romulan was already getting up but did not look happy at the fact of having been knocked over by the Romulan or the Tholian.

Detached, Tedak observed the argument between the two Tholians, while trying to keep his attention on the Klingons and Magellan speaking. So far, Vebn hadn't spoken a word to him, which was just as well as Tedak didn't really feel like socialising with his boss.
The Tholians drew nearer and it was hard to ignore them now. Before he knew it, the male Tholian seemed to trip over his own feet, falling heavily against Vebn, who in turn fell heavily against him. They fell to the deck in a tangle of chairs and limbs, though it was quite fortunate that the Tholian did not land on the both of them.
It was unfortunate, though, that Tedak fell down hard, cracking his skull against the deck. Vebn landing heavily on him knocked the wind from his lungs and he felt a sharp stab in his ribcage, knowing then and there that at least one rib was broken.
He shoved the older Romulan off him and climbed to his feet, one hand on his ribs, the other rubbing the back of his head. He didn't try to help Vebn to his feet, but instead cast a glare at both Tholians. "Vebn, are you hurt?" he asked after several minutes.

Vebns eyed dangerously as he shrugged the prone Tholian of him. Lochnas limbs clicked in distress as he flailed about. A pair of security officers were quickly at his side pulling him roughly to his feet and dragging him towards the exit. Vebn brushed himself down and tried with as much dignity as possible retake his seat.
"Vebn, are you hurt?" Tedak asked
"Look to your own needs Ambassador and in this arena you address me as Ambassador S'Khellian." he replied abruptly.
What caused greater injury to his pride was the raucous laughter issuing from Korok who seemed delighted in the whole event.
"Gentleman please we were just starting to get somewhere. Can we return our focus" Magellan implored,
"Focus." Korok scoffed, "What Lovine demands is ridiculous. We are the victors here and come in magnanimity to you, offering honourable terms. Accept them or face the consequences."
Magellan sighed, He knew Korok was bluffing he like Lovine knew that the Klingon War Machine was over stretched. The Tholian War had caused sporadic border issues with the Kreel and an uprising on Krios. They needed a swift end to the war as much as the Tholians.
Before any further discussions were possible, Felix appeared at the door. The commodore came over at a nod from Magellan and whispered in his ear. Magellans face seemed to fall.
Vebn looked up intrigued. Something was afoot.
A second figure appeared at the door. It looked like Lovine's aide Bek. He shuffled in and went directly to Lovine. Magellan noticed the arrival of the other Tholian and looked worried. Quickly he rose,
"Ladies and Gentleman I suggest we call a recess. We shall reconvene this time tomorrow." He nodded to the security officers who entered to begin to escort the various parties out of the secure starfleet area and back to their embassies.
"Come Tedak." Vebn grunted "Something is occuring. We must return to Nelon immediately and access the latest Intelligence reports. Perhaps there will be something we can use to our advantage."

~The Betreka Nebula~ Stuart kept thinking of this bit of information as the night drew on. He recalled the nebula in general, that part of his memory was still intact, but he did not recall taking a flight path through it.
The evening came to a close. Stuart had enjoyed this time to get to know T’Val better…again. It wasn’t too much of a stretch to fathom that he would be married to this woman, but just being married was a stretch in itself. So much he would have to catch up on if his memory didn’t return. That thought frightened him.
It had been a restless night, Stuart’s mind running various possibilities of what could have happened. Of course sleeping with this beautiful specimen of a woman in his arms was a bit distracting as well, especially since they had agreed to not engage in any more intimacy other than being close to one another…for now.
“I need to go over those data logs, dissect my flight path back to here. Will you be alright running the infirmary alone?” He figured she would be, but simply asked out of courtesy. “You’re welcome to catch up with me later if you’d like.” Finishing his breakfast…he was off to the shuttle bay.
Stuart found himself an empty terminal where he logged in and looked up the downloaded files of his trip. All starbase shuttlecraft and starship’s have their flight path databases downloaded for archiving and future retrieval for cases much like his. Although he was sure that some tech had already been assigned to his case, looking for any anomalies, he had to take a look for himself.
Most of the flight seemed uneventful. The shuttle was on autopilot at some times while Stuart took over the controls at others. He spotted a deviation from what would be a normal course trajectory going around the Betreka Nebula. Stuart had led the shuttle directly into it, but he didn’t recall why. Was he trying to save time? No, he wouldn’t risk the unknown, he knew better than that.
He viewed the data logs some more. Stuart switched his viewing from the flight parameters to his biosigns. He went back in time just before he switched course. There it was, a change in his biosigns from what was a normal irregular pattern to one that was too normal. He recalled the living AI within Assailant’s computers, except for her name. “Uh, Libby…Lizzy…Lily? Forget it…computer, what do you make of these readings?”
A voice answered, “Your last guess was the correct one, Dr. Mercy. I am Lily.”
“Well good, I’m glad I remembered someone, or something, even if just partially.”
“It is unfortunate that you do not recall me fully. I, however, recall you looking deep into my eyes when I had manifested myself into human form. It was one of intimacy, if I am not mistaken.”
Stuart did remember those beautiful, purple, eyes she had. Whatever she had been back then, they were indeed beautiful. “You are mistaken, and if I remember correctly, you shocked me and tossed me halfway across the room.”
“I do apologize for that. I was frightened at the time, and now know that you were only trying to help me. Which, in the end, everyone here did.”
“Yeah-yeah, I’m glad too. Now, what about these readings?”
“Your biosigns are too regular. They are not those of a normal acting human being. I am currently comparing these readings with the starbases medical database. These readings are comparable to those of patients that are under an induced comatose state. You were not you at this time. It appears that you were under someone else’s influence, another being, or another entity perhaps.”
Stuart sat back as he quietly agreed.

Magellan had hoped that the USS Victory would bring good news instead it had increased his troubles a hundredfold. And that was even before the news of Ch'lorks attack on Aenvolis broke. He knew Lovine would be furious and doubted anything would get her back to the debating table.
He needed a way to unite them all. The Kasan-thar threat was real enough, to the Tholians and likely to the Federation too now. But what about the Klingons would they want to fight an enemy they had yet to rile? And as for the Romulans who ever knew where they stood on any matter.
He decided to distract himself by catching up with Dr Mercy and seeing if anything new had turned up. He found the Doctor in sickbay talking to Lily.
"Doctor. Lily" he greeted "Any progress?"
Lily briefly outlined their current thinking, Magellan listened intently.
It was clear something untoward and and intended had occured to Stuart and it was about time the man had some answers.
"Doctor. I m going to go back on my previous order. It seems your memory loss wasnt natural nor is it coming back on its own especially well. Therefore I grant you permission for you to undergo a mind meld." He held up a hand to forestall Stuarts response. "The condition is that T'Val is not the one who conducts it. She is too close to you and besides we need her outside of your mind monitoring your health. Do we have a deal?"

T'Val had observed the exchange between Lily and Stuart for a few minutes, then decided to give them some privacy. She didn't believe her presence would help him remember any faster, and her only option was forbidden to her. A little disappointed and not a little dejected, she returned to her quarters.
The room felt empty and she hated being alone. For a moment, she debated contacting Tedak, though she knew that probably wouldn't go over well if Stuart came home all of a sudden. Though the two men seemed to have become friends, T'Val knew she'd always stand between them and even though she loved Stuart, very much, she would always have a part of her that would still love Tedak. And with Tedak she shared something that Stuart had only partly experienced: parenthood.
She stiffled a sob as she remembered her adopted son, seeing his broken little body in the stasis unit after the crash. Determined, she wiped the tears from her eyes as she sank down on the couch, keeping her eyes closed. She hoped that Stuart had found a cure for her inability to bear him a child. He knew she yearned for them to have one, for herself to experience pregnancy.
T'Val smiled up at Stuart as he placed the baby in her arms. After so much trouble and so long a time, they finally had a healthy son. He was well over a month premature, but as he was half-human, by Human standards he wasn't that much premature. Her happiness was complete and she felt like sharing with everyone. The baby wailed in hunger, swaying little fists, almost as though he was angry at being denied food.
Eyes closed, T'Val smiled to herself; this was a dream she often had, one that had started ever since Stuart had left on his quest. Even in her sleep, T'Val felt the joy she knew she would feel at such a moment. She knew the joy from when D'Beren had been entrusted to her as a baby.
The Vulcan woman curled up on the couch, happily dreaming on, her current troubles momentarily forgotten.

Lovine was still mildly amused by the events of her little trick with the records officers suit when the door to the conference room opened, Lovine briefly looked at the federation officer before returning her gaze to the Klingon, he seemed as annoyed with the interruption as she was ‘well at least we can agree on one thing, Human’s annoy every race they come into contact with’ Lovine almost fell off her seat when Kek touched her arm, “’What are you trying to do Kek?”’ Lovine’s clicking sound would not be understood by those in the room as she well knew, but when Kek responded she was at first annoyed he was speaking Human. “I am sorry sister, i have a message here from Tholia, it is ...” Kek seemed to compose himself, Lovine was not going to give him a chance “How dare you refer to me like that, and how dare you walk into this meeting without my consent, you will leave here at once” Lovine knew she was speaking human but she wanted to show how forceful she was to the others in the hope that they would take heed. Lovine was disappointed when the admiral spoke as if it had never happened "Ladies and Gentleman I suggest we call a recess. We shall reconvene this time tomorrow." He nodded to the security officers who entered to begin to escort the various parties out of the secure Starfleet area and back to their embassies. Lovine looked at the officer “I know the way back, and my own guards will do for an escort” Lovine was about to speak to Kek but he seemed to have overcome his nervousness “Lovine, the message is an Ultra-Violet priority message” Lovine at those words did stumble, Kek caught her arm and pulled her up quickly, taking the message recording from Kek she spoke quickly “We must get to the embassy fast, and kick anyone who gets in our way” Lovine’s fear was evident in her voice ‘Ultra-Violet is the most highest message priority, who would dare use it, or more so why’ Lovine thought as they began to rush back to the embassy.
Lovine was glad to be out of her suit but moved quickly into her officer without a second thought, “Computer, Seal the room and secure against any and all listening systems” Lovine did not hear the computers confirmation as she rushed to her desk and inserted the message recorder into the computer. =/\=Please Confirm your name, rank, position and codes for access=/\= Lovine composed herself quickly and then responded “Lovine, Tel’Chak, Ambassador, security code Ultra Violet, four two seven, en’far’tel” Lovine watched the screen as it confirmed her codes and changed into the recording of the head member of the assembly himself. “Ambassador Lovine, it is my duty to inform you that as of a few moments ago we have received word that a Klingon attack fleet has destroyed our colony in the Aenvolis system, due to this it is our direct orders that the cease fire has been broken b the Klingon High Council, and in Federation Territory, you are to immediately speak to the federation representatives and Starfleet to see their intent, for now we will not begin the attack but if a second attack occurs then you are ordered to hand over a declaration that as of then we will not speak terms of peace again until Qo'noS is nothing more than dust.” The male Tholian shifted a little before continuing “There is cries for blood, until the ships that broke the cease fire and destroyed and every man and woman who serves upon them lie dead before the assembly, there will be no more peace talks” And with that the message ended
Lovine looked in mild shock, she had never expected the Klingons to break the cease fire so quickly, what had changed to make them so confident. Lovine did not have time to think on this as she opened a communications channel “Admiral Lin, this is Ambassador Lovine, i would like to speak to you urgently, until you do the peace talks are off” cutting the comm. she began think what she would have to do to appease the assembly, with a strong feeling of happiness at the idea of the many Klingons she would have to kill to do it.

Magellan had been expecting a call from Lovine. Word was just breaking across the station of the attack on Aenvolis. Starfleet intelligence reported that nearly the whole colony had been destroyed. The Federation Council had immediately contacted the Klingon High Council who disavowed any knowledge of the attack.
Magellan had tried to contact Korok, but the Major seemed to have gone to ground and completely unreachable. Only the almost continuous stream of comm traffic two and from his embassy gave away his presence.
"Very well Zoilip. Have Ambassador Lovine brought up to see me"
he could guess how the Tholians would react and he wasnt far wrong when in a few minutes the Tholian was stood before him reiterating her governments stance.
"I understand your anger Ambassador, but it is still early. The klingons say they did not organise the attack"
"Organised or not. They were klingon officers and klingon ships" Lovine replied icily,
"But they were not under orders. We believe Ch'Lork has gone rogue"
"Rogue. Rubbish. This is just a smokescreen. These talks are as good as over."
Magellan sighed and looked at the Tholian a moment. He knew that this was a crucial moment. The fate of three nations turned on this conversation. His plan for unity wouldnt work unless the Tholians and the Klingons were at peace and now it appeared the Kasan-thar were coming for the Federation they needed peace in the quadrant more then ever. He mused a moment further. Ch'lork and his rogue ship was the problem and so it was Ch'lork they would need to deal with.
"Very well Ambassador. But I have one last request of you. An attempt to secure peace once and for all. I invite you to join me on the USS Copenhagen for a brief journey"
TAG Lovine
"In to the Nebula of course. The Copenhagen will be leading a small taskforce to apprehend General Ch'lork. I wish you to be present as will Major Korok. Ch'lork will be in Federation space and by his own account does not support the Highh Council. Therefore he is no ally of the Federation. We will arrest him and try him for war crimes. Does this at least go some way to appease you? Think it over. The Copenhagen will leave this evening."

"Come Tedak." Vebn grunted "Something is occuring. We must return to Nelon immediately and access the latest Intelligence reports. Perhaps there will be something we can use to our advantage."
The younger diplomat nodded quietly, still too stunned to say anything. His head was aching and each step was agony, along with every breath. "Something is amiss," he agreed, as he hurried along as fast as was possible. 'I am relieved to hear the Tholian did not hurt you," he added solemnly.
They continued their journey to the Romulan diplomatic offices in silence. Tedak sank down in a comfortable chair, breath hissing between his teeth as pain lanced through him. "Perhaps a visit to sickbay when we're done," he managed as he tried to catch his breath. "I was not so fortunate when you fell on me." He closed his eyes for a moment.
"What do you believe will be to our advantage? The Klingons and the Tholians are at eachother's throats, and we are caught in between." He glanced from Vebn to Nelon and back to Vebn. "Is there something going on that perhaps you neglected to tell me about?" he queried carefully, "you have been neglecting to tell me things as of late. Don't think I haven't noticed."

"I tell you exactly what you need to know" Vebn replied icily, "Diplomacy is a need to know game and you need only know what I tell you. I dont have to tell you that there are some amongst the senate that view you with great distaste."

"I have little time for your opinions or thoughts. My concern is doing the best for our people and I sense that there is something afoot. Magellan and his Federation cronies are up to something. They have an ace up their sleeve somewhere."

"We need more information. Magellan seems certain that peace can be achieved between the Klingons and the Tholians if that puts Romulus at a disadvantage we must do our best to derail their plans."

"Quit your whining" Vebn snapped, he seemed even more waspish today than usual, "Ah Nelon, what news."
The Romulan aide moved to stand beside a screen. He pulled up a video clip of a Klingon Battlecruiser firing disruptors on to a planet.
"General Ch'lork has just attacked Aen'volis. The Klingon High Council are claiming it was an unsanctioned attack"
"How are the Tholians responding" Vebn asked almost with glee
"Hard to tell." Nelon replied " But I think its safe to say that the ceasefire is over and the talks are at an end."
Vebn nodded and looked deep in thought.
"Tedak" he exclaimed shortly "You seemed to get on well with Lovine. Go see her, extend our sorrows etc etc. Find out what you can. I will go and see Korok and interrogate him. Meet back within the hour. I sense an opportunity opening up for us."

"I tell you exactly what you need to know" Vebn replied icily, "Diplomacy is a need to know game and you need only know what I tell you. I dont have to tell you that there are some amongst the senate that view you with great distaste."
The younger Romulan clenched his jaws together angrily. “I'm sure that there are those who say the same of you,” he hissed back. “In my opinion -” He was cut off when Vebn spoke next.
"I have little time for your opinions or thoughts. My concern is doing the best for our people and I sense that there is something afoot. Magellan and his Federation cronies are up to something. They have an ace up their sleeve somewhere."
“And if you had let me be about my business, getting closer to Magellan, you would know more by now,” Tedak shot back, growing very weary. “And you forget that in my own way, I always have the Empire's best interest at heart.” Vebn however, didn't appear to be listening.
"We need more information. Magellan seems certain that peace can be achieved between the Klingons and the Tholians if that puts Romulus at a disadvantage we must do our best to derail their plans."
“Like I said, if you had let me get close to Magellan. But no, you keep me on a tight leash. I am not your pet at your beck and call Vebn.” Tedak was visibly angry and annoyed, but not enough to raise his voice. His words were spoke in a low, calm voice, and it helped that his firelizards weren't in attendance. “I need to regain their trust and then he'll tell me what we need to know. I just need to be able to move freely, without you constantly checking on me. You treat me as an insolent child.”
"How I treat you is irrelevant. All that matters is your respect and duty."
At that point, Nelon walked in and a short conversation ensued. Tedak listened intently but chose not to respond to any of it. For now, he kept his own counsel on the issue, for he didn't want to alienate his superior further than he already had. He was already walking on thin ice, and he didn't want it to crack. Yet. For now, he waited patiently, drawing himself up to his full height, standing straight and regal with his hands clasped behind his back. He wouldn't be able to keep it up for long as every breath he drew sent agony down his chest.
"Tedak" he exclaimed shortly "You seemed to get on well with Lovine. Go see her, extend our sorrows etc etc. Find out what you can. I will go and see Korok and interrogate him. Meet back within the hour. I sense an opportunity opening up for us.
“Seemed to is the correct phrase,” Tedak snorted, “she's arrogant and petty. More suited to your temperament I'm sure.” However, he inclined his head slightly. “I will seek her out immediately. What about Lin?” He was certain Vebn would order him to stay clear of the Trill admiral, and he would...for now.
"I thank you for your kind words. Now lets try and find out what is happening."
Turning on his heels, the younger Romulan marched out of the confines of the Romulan embassy and searched for the young Tholian's quarters. “Begging your pardon madam ambassador, but I would like to meet with you. My government wishes to extend its deepest sympathies for the unfortunate incident at Aen'volis, and would request you pass it on to the affected families.”
He bowed his head in feigned regret, hiding his expression from her. “May we speak?” he asked softly, “perhaps more in private? I...enjoyed your company earlier, it was refreshing.” Now, he looked up and offered her a sympathetic smile, extending his right hand towards her, offering her his arm. If Vebn wanted him to associate with the female Tholian, then he would need to be on his most dashing and gallant behaviour. And, if Tedak was anything, it was a true gentleman.

Lovine was mildly pleased that the admiral had the sense not to keep her waiting, as she walked into his office she looked at the man but did not hold her tongue as she spoke out the terms her government were now using. After a few moments of anger where she made it quite plain to the admiral that this attack pretty much blew most of the chance this peace talks had. Lovine watched as the admiral began to speak at last, "I understand your anger Ambassador, but it is still early. The Klingon’s say they did not organise the attack" Lovine considered the words before she spoke "Organised or not. They were Klingon officers and Klingon ships" Lovine replied icily, "But they were not under orders. We believe Ch'Lork has gone rogue" Lovine laughed “Rogue. Rubbish. This is just a smokescreen. These talks are as good as over." Lovine liked saying the last part, she was going to enjoy watching this federation officer try and worm another peace talk out of the Klingons, because this time the cease fire would be broken by her people. "Very well Ambassador. But I have one last request of you. An attempt to secure peace once and for all. I invite you to join me on the USS Copenhagen for a brief journey" Lovine looked at the Admiral with shock, ‘this i had not expected’ Lovine composed herself before responding “To what end? What place do you think would convince me that pile of lies the Klingons are spouting are truths?” "In to the Nebula of course. The Copenhagen will be leading a small taskforce to apprehend General Ch'lork. I wish you to be present as will Major Korok. Ch'lork will be in Federation space and by his own account does not support the High Council. Therefore he is no ally of the Federation. We will arrest him and try him for war crimes. Does this at least go some way to appease you? Think it over. The Copenhagen will leave this evening." Lovine did not know what the admiral was playing at, but this was a dangerous game that could just as easily end with a full scale war. “I will come, but i assure you that my people are crying out for blood, it will not be long before enough ship to crush a federation fleet will be all over this sector hunting these fool Klingons down.”
Lovine left the admiral’s office and began to follow the security officer away from the operations decks, Lovine was glad when she was in the corridor of her quarters, after this sort of day she either needed rest or a someone to kill. As she arrived at the door to her quarters she was surprised to find Tedak waiting for her. “Begging your pardon madam ambassador, but I would like to meet with you. My government wishes to extend its deepest sympathies for the unfortunate incident at Aen'volis, and would request you pass it on to the affected families.” He bowed his head in feigned regret, hiding his expression from her. “May we speak?” he asked softly, “perhaps more in private? I...enjoyed your company earlier, it was refreshing.” Now, he looked up and offered her a sympathetic smile, extending his right hand towards her, offering her his arm. Lovine looked at the Romulan, she understood the offer he was putting to her, and she wondered why he was doing so now, “I will pass on the message, but i doubt it will be heard, the entire assembly is on the edge of going completely insane. We may talk in private, but i do not know this base to well so you will need to find a place, or we can go to my embassy, few go there and those that do will accept my commands if i state them.”

“Very well, what do you wish to discuss in the mean time, i wonder if you would tell me a bit of Romulus, no Tholian has ever travelled to your home world and for the ties between us i am surprised none have”

“I will pass on the message, but i doubt it will be heard, the entire assembly is on the edge of going completely insane. We may talk in private, but i do not know this base to well so you will need to find a place, or we can go to my embassy, few go there and those that do will accept my commands if i state them.”
"Perhaps my quarters? I do not believe the Romulan embassy to be private enough either. Otherwise perhaps the Fishtank, if that holds your preference, though I'm sure there'd be stares. Tholians rarely visit the Fishtank unless they need to be there for an official occasion." The Romulan shook his head. "No, the suggestion for my quarters, I believe, is reasonable."
“Very well, what do you wish to discuss in the mean time, i wonder if you would tell me a bit of Romulus, no Tholian has ever travelled to your home world and for the ties between us i am surprised none have”
"I do not know exactly what ties exist between the Tholian and Romulan empires," Tedak confessed, "I know that Vebn knows a great deal more than what he is telling me, and I can only speculate at his reason for not telling me."
The Romulan looked sideways, halting his pace to keep in step with Lovine. "He hates me," he added as if in afterthought, "though I've done nothing, to my knowledge, to cause it. As for going to Romulus, I would have you know that I've never been to Tholia." He paused a second time, this time appearing to be in deep thought. He didn't speak again until they exited the turbolift they'd taken and walked up to his quarters. "Don't be alarmed if you hear screeching. My pets react somewhat strangely to newcomers. Just let them get accustomed to you and don't swing at them."
They stepped inside, where fortunately, Nut remained perched on the table. Sev was nowhere to be seen, as was often the case. "Ah, they're not interested. Curious." He turned and frowned. "I'd offer you a seat but err...I'm not sure how.." He smiled awkwardly. "Anyway, you asked about Romulus. The climate is average, much colder than Vulcan. It rains a lot in most cities, as far as I can remember. I never spend much time on Romulus. I may be Romulan but in fact I was born on Remus. As far as the cities go, they can be very nice. There are in fact, very beautiful parks in the more major cities."
He paused again. "I'm not sure exactly what else I can tell you. I have lived most of my life on either a ship, base or any world but Romulus. I've been living here on Assailant for nearly nine years now, and I have no desire to leave anytime soon. A Romulan's lifespan is almost equal to that of a Vulcan, or at least comparitive. However, I do believe that I shall not be welcome on Romulus, should I decide to retire from my profession. Vebn has made it quite clear that I have plenty enemies in the senate."
Tedak gazed out the window, his back turned to Lovine. "There is a warbird commander out there, who indeed would rather see me dead. Tell me Lovine, has your life ever been threatened? Ever had a disruptor or dagger set to your chest, such that you believed you were going to die then and there?"

"I do not know exactly what ties exist between the Tholian and Romulan empires," Tedak confessed, "I know that Vebn knows a great deal more than what he is telling me, and I can only speculate at his reason for not telling me." Lovine listened carefully to Tedak’s words, she was looking for signs of areas she could exploit, with the war begun again she could not risk the Federation becoming involved on the Klingons side, so she needed a way to avoid this for a time. "He hates me," he added as if in afterthought, "though I've done nothing, to my knowledge, to cause it. As for going to Romulus, I would have you know that I've never been to Tholia." Had Lovine been able to smile she would have done at the first line, ‘so there is strife between the two ambassador’s, very interesting’ Lovine thought as they continued their trip in the turbo lift, Lovine was about to speak when Tedak spoke first. "Don't be alarmed if you hear screeching. My pets react somewhat strangely to newcomers. Just let them get accustomed to you and don't swing at them." Lovine prepared herself for many things, including these things the humans called ‘cats’ but as she walked through the door she heard and saw nothing. There are in fact, very beautiful parks in the more major cities." Lovine listened as he spoke, his words told her that while he cared for the planet he did not have any major emotional bounds to it, or he would have gone into greater detail about the people. "I'm not sure exactly what else I can tell you. I have lived most of my life on either a ship, base or any world but Romulus. I've been living here on Assailant for nearly nine years now, and I have no desire to leave anytime soon. A Romulan's lifespan is almost equal to that of a Vulcan, or at least comparative. However, I do believe that I shall not be welcome on Romulus, should I decide to retire from my profession. Vebn has made it quite clear that I have plenty enemies in the senate." Lovine smile would have slipped at this point had she a mouth, ‘what use is it turning two ambassadors against each other if one will just simply be ignored’ Lovine watched as Tedak looked out towards the stars "There is a war bird commander out there, who indeed would rather see me dead. Tell me Lovine, has your life ever been threatened? Ever had a disruptor or dagger set to your chest, such that you believed you were going to die then and there?" Lovine realised she had been asked a question and suddenly thought quickly, “I have been threatened many times, I guess that is what comes from my position, but i have only twice been in a position where i believed my life was in such danger. The first i will not speak of, the second was while i was overseeing a development facility, i disagreed with the price the items we were purchasing was, i believed we were putting too much risk to those who were providing us technology but the seller seemed adamant. I was almost thrown out an air lock for my protests to protect the other worlds people” Lovine stopped at this moment. She knew that she had not spoken the truth, or at least not the real truth, the event happened but she had not disagreed but was all for getting the weapons, but now she was going to replace the word weapons with the word cloak, and the name Telian with the name Romulan. She hoped Tedak might take her bait and ask further “The idiot of a Tholian who tried to send me on a very long trip out an airlock did not know how to operate the thing. Well my people found a use for him, testing a device we had made from the technology but it did not work so well and left quite a mess” Lovine remembered a device they had attempted to make from the cloaks for personal use, the results had been less the was hoped. “We should discuss other things, but first, i must say i was surprised to hear that Vebn had not informed you of dealing between your people and mine, most of which were barely worth while reading while i was coming here, but one was very interesting, it could have put both my and your people in great risk had it been known, but i believe so far that risk has not occurred yet.” Lovine continued on but broke up her words to let Tedak even politely step in if he wished. “... I was wondering ... if you had ever ... oh what is the word ... been in a ... holodeck, that is it holodeck?” <Tag Tedak, if you do want to jump in feel free where ever Tedak would have and i will remove the unused bits from this post, or continue on >

“... i believed we were putting too much risk to those who were providing us technology but the seller seemed adamant. I was almost thrown out an air lock for my protests to protect the other worlds people”
Tedak listenend politely and with interest. "You say almost. I take it you were rescued in time?" he asked quietly, giving her plenty of opportunity to continue her story. His eyes widened briefly as she described what had happened to the person who had put her in there in the first place.
"Vebn doesn't trust me, that's the whole crux of the matter. I'm too close in dealing with the Federation. He probably still hasn't gotten over the fact that I had help from the Federation in organising his rescue, when a Vulcan mercenary had abducted him. That, and we've been at eachother's throats a few time." The Romulan scowled under his breath. "No perhaps it's better I don't know the details of this matter, I doubt I'd agree with them."
“... I was wondering ... if you had ever ... oh what is the word ... been in a ... holodeck, that is it holodeck?”
"Have I ever?" A bright smile crossed the Romulan's face. "Oh my dear, you aren't telling me you've never been on a holodeck are you? I use them almost daily, either for entertainment, or keep my training up. Perhaps you'd like to join me? After, perhaps, you've helped me fix my rib? I'm sure you can do that much..."
While he pointed out where he kept his own medical equipment - something he had arranged a long time ago, for safety's sake - he removed his tunic. "I practice my fighting skills on the holodeck," he continued to explain, "mostly hand-to-hand and my dagger. I'd be pleased to show you, unless you have a preference for another sort of weapon? Perhaps pitch yours against mine? With the holodeck safeties engaged of course, wouldn't do for diplomats to get hurt in friendly competition, would it?"

Starships seemed that little bit more impressive when viewed from the vast plexiglass window of the Fishtank. Magellan stood, his hands clasped behind his back looking out at the Nevada and the Victory both berthed inside Assailant.
Behind him he could hear Colonel Wong and the crew of the USS Victory, his old ship, making the most of their shoreleave in the Officers Club. It was reassuring to know that some of the officers he had served with still made the ship run like clockwork.
Beside the Nevada the Victory looked archaic and even then the Akira class Nevada was quite an old ship. A renamed Dominion War warhorse redesignated after Commodore Jira had lost the Second Nevada. Quite a lot had changed since then not least the transfer of the Commdore out of the Section.
Suddenly a holographic image of a young woman in a tight lycra suit and with purple streaked brown hair appeared before him. "Yes Lily?" Magellan asked the bases sentient AI "I have an incoming call from Section Admiral Drew for you" "Thank you Lily I ll come up to Ops right away." "No Need. I can post it through to the Bar Managers office." Magellan nodded and followed the avatar in to the secluded office.
The main viewscreen blinked revealing the face of Paul Drew, "And what exactly are you playing at?" he asked
Magellan was momentarily taken aback, "Yes I m fine thanks how about you..." he paused, "Sir." Drew smiled, "Yes well I can be fairly sure your okay physically, but mentally." Magellan shrugged, "What have I done now thats alarming you?" Paul rolled his eyes, "You mean you don't know." "If you mean Ch'lork its all in hand" Magellan assured
"Its not just that you intend to take down a Klingon General its that you intend to do it in the Copenhagen."
"She is one of the support vessels assigned to Assilant and the Vanquisher is undergoing an upgrade."
"Come on Mag. The Copenhagen is a Sabre Class vessel equipped for short range scientific missions. And you intend to use her to apprehend a rogue Klingon general in a Negh var class battle cruiser as well as taking a long 4 key diplomats."
"I can see your point but..."
"Theres no buts, your not doing it."
"You doubt my abilities?"
"I doubt your ship. I m telling you... no ordering you to beef up your defence. The Nevada is free and I know she has a fine crew. You will take that vessel on the mission."
"Very well Sir" Magellan replied with a nod.
"Oh and before I go... Good Luck. Speak to you on the flip side." "Thankyou sir" Magellan answered as the screen blanked out. He was mildly miffed at the manner Drew had taken but after all he was Section Admiral. Magellan up until a month ago had been his superior and now the rolls had been reversed. The pair had joined the Section at roughly the same time and had been leap frogging each other since then, serving briefly together on Assailant.
He paused and thought of the Nevada, he knew, like Drew that they were a good crew. He had taken the Nevada when he had been tasked to investigate the Kasan-thar and perhaps it was fitting that they were present at what would hopefully be the end of the Colonial War and the prosepct of focusing all attention on these potentiall dangerous opponents.
He turned to face Lily, "Lily please inform the crew of the USS Nevada that their shoreleave is canceled and that their senior staff should report to the Main Conference room aboard Assailant at 1800 hrs and be prepared to depart shortly after.
OOC Okay with Paul Drew gone and no new CO assigned as yet, I m gathering the Nevada into a JM with Assailant. Basically they will join our mission in hunting down the rogue Klingon.

Commander First Class Jon park walked onto the bridge of the Nevada and a young officer who had come aboard after the ship docked walked up to him. "Lt.Junior Grade Kelly Norstat reporting sir." Jon smiled "Thank you i am only Acting first officer Mrs. Norstat but thank you all the same." She nodded and handed him a Padd. Commander Thomas was working on a open panel near tactical and he had tools all around him.
Jon read the Padd as he was walking into the Ready Room. The minor refit was going to be finished within the day. The Nevada for being an old class of ship was in fine shape, However something told Jon the ships service days were numbered. As Jon finished signing off on the final repair requests his combadge chirped.
=/\= Commander Park you have a message from starbase. A Admiral Lin assistant.=/\= Jon touched the command console by his side. "Patch him through to the Ready Room." Jon turned to the Terminal and saw the image of the admiral's assistant. "Hello what can i do for the Admiral?" The officer looked at him and said. "I am sorry Commander but your shoreleave has been canceled. Please recall your crew and report to the Main Conference room aboard Assailant at 1800 hrs.
Jon nodded. "Understood. I will recall the Crew and report to Assailant for a mission briefing." Jon leaned back and knew this would hurt moral but orders from a superior officer was an order. Jon tapped some commands and a communication was sent out to all combadges. "All hand, this is Commander Park. I regret to inform you but shoreleave has been canceled. Please report back to the Nevada. All Senior staff report to the Main Conference room aboard Assailant at 1800 hrs. Park out." Jon went to his quarters and changed into a new uniform and placed his new rank in the right spot. Heading to the Transporter room he beamed aboard and headed to the Main conference room.

"Bring her into dock helmsman," Seth reminded the man at the helm of the Bartlet. The Wezean was still at tactical, having refused to use the Ops console because of its state. He would not struggle with a faulty station just because a man driven half to madness had taken a phaser to it.
Littlewood remained at the centre chair, despite his wish to be called chief. Seth could tell the makeshift bridge crew were finding that naming practice unusual.
Not long after the two Starfleet vessels had come into communication and sensor range of Assailant, the base had contacted them, obviously delighted to see that the lost ship and her crew had been brought home. Commander Park on the Nevada had been at pains to correct them, to explain the situation as it was rather than as it appeared to be. Needless to say, the base's communication staff were shocked.
Helacaan watched the viewscreen as the ship slipped into the inner moorings; he could see the tailends of the Nevada disappearing from view as the Akira class banked around the edge of Assailant's large central dome, towards its own assigned docking port on the other side.
They were docked moments later. All the crew disembarked, following a request from the Nevada that they head immediately for their 'mother ship'. Shore leave was due almost certainly, but the return of the Bartlet to the nearest Starbase and the need to hand it off to the station - as well as surely needing to formalise a report to send to the appropriate people on board Nevada and Assailant - meant that the break would have to wait.
All the same, Seth was in a state of relief as he circumnavigated the busy docking ring to the Nevada on the other side. Time to relax beckoned, no pressures of a mission. But, with that relief would come later disillusionment; a sensation set in which often after a while began to leave a bitter taste in the mouth, like a wine that was initially sweet going acidic with exposure. Too much time left alone to one's thoughts could be a bad thing, he knew, especially for him when such things might cause depression. Either way, it had to be resolved. Any amount of work on a mission was not enough to avert such pressing issues.. all it did was stir a resolve and exert a pressure within him to sort it.
Seth saw Park wandering in the crowd, heading in his general direction. The Wezean looked up at the numbering sign of the docking area and saw he was close to the Nevada. 'Excellent', he thought as Park greeted him.
"Ah Seth, how are you doing?"
Seth nodded, smiling a little, "Fine, thank you sir. I see command have seen to give you the red collar. Congratulations on the temporary post sir."
Park thanked him but then had to interrupt the just starting conversation to go to a hearing. "I am sorry, sir. I have to head to the Nevada, I've got some important matters to attend to." Commander Park nodded in understanding and with parting salutations they headed separate ways. "Good luck with Maris's hearing," Seth called back, feeling more was required. He headed for the ship.
From the airlock hatch into the connecting personnel vestibule, Seth headed straight for his quarters. He planned to use his position as Ops Chief to open up a long ranged communicae, aimed for a star system in Canis Major.
Immediately after this, Seth and the rest of the crew of the Nevada received a message from a computer AI on Assailant and then Commander Park. Shoreleave was officially cancelled and the Nevada's departure from the base was already scheduled. He didn't know whether to feel disappointed or relieved.

It was 18.20 and Magellan was still stuck in Operations. he was never one to be late normally but the many necessities of running a city in space and overseeing a sector could be a severe drain on a persons time management.
"F'rass do whatever you think is justified. I m late to a briefing and to be frank it is more important than whether the Tug - Lionheart should dock at port C or D."
The Regulan looked uncomfortable. For a command level officer in charge of Flight Operations he could be very indecisive.
"But sir its a matter of protocol..."
"Its a matter of protocol that you will deal with. Understood Commander" Magellan stressed the rank and before F'rass could reply left ops.
"Lily"
The avatar appeared before him.
"Yes Magellan"
Magellan frowned, Lily was far too informal and despite the starfleet manuals she had been supplied with still seemed unwilling to use the correct nomenclature.
"Are the Nevada senior staff in the Conference Lounge."
"Yes. and they have been waiting 20 Minutes."
"Okay Okay Lily. Thankyou."
Magellan made his way down through the Starfleet only zone of the Upper Sections of the Station. He felt safe here it was about the only place on the station where he could be free of diplomats.
Without time to even acknowledge the Staff he passed he rudely pounded his way to the nearest turbolift and then internal tram. Nearly breathless he arrived at the conference room. The assembled officers snapped to attention.
"At ease" he ordered, "And my apologies for my tardiness."
He moved over to a Holo-projector and activated it. The image dispalyed was of a Demon Class planet.
"This is Aenvolis." he said "It is in the Betreka Nebula and has been colonised by the Tholians. These secret colonies established by them are on many Demon planets in both Federation and Klingon Space. As you know given their reasons we allowed them to retain the colonies in our space. We hardly have use for such planets. The Klingons however are less magnamonous and for the past year the Tholians and Klingons have been at war with us stuck in the middle between them."
He changed the view to that of a conference room on the Starbase.
"I have been working to broker a peace between the two parties. Neither side can win and sooner or later the Federation would be sucked in. I was close to making and sealing a peace accord in the last few days this happened."
The view changed to show an image of devestated buidings scorched earth and raging fires.
"24 hours ago. Whilst under a truce General Ch'Lork of the Klingon Defence Force attacked Aenvolis and destroyed over half of the Tholian Hatcheries. Major Korok our Klingon Diplomat claims Ch'Lork is acting without orders and needless to say Ambassador Lovine of Tholia has withdrawn from the talks.
So now I come to you. There is only one way I can see of bringing the two sides together.
Aenvolis is in Federation Space. Space administered by Assailant and by default me. Ch'lork has therefore gone rogue in Federation space and must travel through Section 47 to either continue to attck Tholia or return to Qu'onos. I want to intercept him and arrest him for war crimes. That way Lovine maybe persuaded to return to the table and at least hear the offer that I think could change the politics of this region substantially.
I was going to take the Copenhagen. But Section Admiral Drew wants me to have more firepower so he has assigned you. We willbe joined by 4 observers. Ambassador Lovine of Tholia, Major Korok of Qu'onos, Ambassador Ezedriana of the Federation and an observer from the Romulan Embassy, I fully expect that to be Ambassador Tedak."
Magellan clicked off the holo viewer
"So any questions. If not we need to depart immediatly."

Jon sat down waiting and waiting. Jon looked to the display and saw it was 1810. Why was it he reports to a place on time and always have to wait. Jon listened to the admiral and knew that a rouge Klingon vessel was nothing to smile at.
15 years ago---------------------------------------------------------
Jon had been accepted to starfleet academy and was happy. Jon knew that he had to tell his friend Jake Marcus. Jon was running into the school room when he ran into starfleet security. "What happened." The officer looked at Jon and said. "Your sister has been kidnapped by some rouge Klingon's. Don't worry we will get her back." Jon knew where the klingons kept loading there ships when they were at earth.
Present day---------------------------------------------------------------
Jon was so caught in the past he almost missed the admirals question. "Yes sir, i do." Jon thought of how to word this. "Will you be joining us on this mission or do i have Command of the Nevada Sir." Jon waited but in his gut knew what was about to happen. Yes he took command when Admiral Drew and Commander Trek had to leave the Nevada mid-mission and even thought starfleet told him he was not to blame for not getting stevenson he felt since he was the most senior officer and most familiar with the ship he should take command.
