Jayden found it somewhat curious that Pride never acknowledged his presence and started talking to his mate as though he were awake. "He's resting all right," he offered, "and he probably can't hear you." The marine gave the helmsman a sad smile. "They've got him sedated now, I'm not getting much on feelings from him either, apart from worry and fear. Funny, how those can even penetrate through unconsciousness."
He looked around when Peter approached to check on his son again. The old man didn't acknowledge Pride, having eyes only for the unconscious doctor. Jayden could see that the old man was worried, but he trusted his judgement as he would trust Nathan's. The man, after all, had been a doctor most of his life. "He'll probably wake up in eight hours or so," Peter promised, his eyes crossing with Jayden's. "If he wants to leave, just sedate him again."
From Nathan, the old man moved to D'etora. "You're in sickbay ma'am," he explained, "you were caught in an explosion and were brought here in a fairly bad state but you should feel fine now after a few hours of sleep." He arched an eyebrow, smiling a little. "How do you feel?"
~unknown location~ More children were joining the small group and Freddy had taken it upon himself to try and comfort a couple of girls around his age. He had no idea how long he'd been here but so far he'd not been given anything to eat or drink, but already had felt the whip of their 'caretaker' on his shoulders.
He too shrank back when their big guard entered the room, his eyes widening in surprise and fear as the guard seemed to randomly grab a child and plunge a dagger into his chest. The group of children, ranging in age from four to seven, screamed in fright, shrinking back even further. The guard reached again, yanking a girl near Freddy up by her hair.
In a very bold move, the boy tried to pull her back and the dagger missed it's mark, scoring both children across their arms. "You're lucky," the guard snapped, not wanting to try again. The element of surprise was gone. "Looks like your parents will get another chance to persuade your uncle." Now he glared down at the boy. "And your father is running out of time. You'll probably never see him again. Our contact failed to return with news, so your father probably failed in his tasks." His mouth widened in a malicious grin as he departed, leaving two wounded children in the care of the larger group. He didn't take the twitching body of the other child with him, leaving it behind as a message to fear him.

"What the hell happened, Commander! How could a child be kidnapped from a Sovereign class vessel. Dammit, J'Varr we have faced a fleet of warships and survived! How the hell was my son kidnapped?" Matt yelled across the view screen. Not allowing himself to feel sorry for the Caitain officer, Matthew continued to wait for an answer," I'm waiting for answer Commander and I want it now!"
Looking quite exasperated, J’Varr T’Ress lowered his head carefully and shook it, his fur moving slightly with each motion caused by the head. “I…I have no idea sir. I am sure that you do not want military formalities, murr, but I suppose this is something that I am forced to take full responsibility for.” Lowering his head, the Caitian turned away as his mind was a washed quickly, deep in thought.
"Commander Pride, I want a course set for the Jefferson immediately," Matt said before turning back to J'Varr," I want the Jefferson to be ready for a search and rescue the moment our shuttles dock."
The Caitian looked to him, mummering in the fashion that had been so common to him always. Sighing gently, he thought carefully to himself about how he was supposed to respond to someone who was clearly upset with him. Shaking his head, he looked up, brushing his head fur from his eyes, “In that case, sir, I hope you understand...murr…I hope you understand that I have to leave alone your original instructions. I simply will not be able to handle the two issues together. My primary concern is to the wellbeing of the ship. Merrow.”
He then started to move out as he started to hear the words of Pride being echoed behind him.
His outburst towards J'varr was uncalled for to say the least. He didn't even give him a chance to say anything before he started yelling. He knew that kids were missing and at stake still he could have handle it better he thought. Then again he was not a parent so he couldn't be sure of how he would feel although being able to shut out emotions was something he was grateful for right now.
The feline’s eyes furrowed, but he continued to move into the turbolift so that he might get down to engineering in a timely fashion. He shut the door, trying to block out the ideologies that stood before him in that image. He did not have anything but love for any children that were lost, this time or any other time. And yet, he was reaching all of the blame for this. Continuing to mumble in the caterwauling fashion that marked his manner of speaking, the feline mentioned to himself how much of a good mind he had to resign his commission right then and there, though he definitely had duties that needed to be attended to and therefore he would never do a rash thing like that.
||||||
Jayden murmured something under his breath, kissed Nathan on his cheek then went to the tall feline. "I have a favour to ask of you sir," he started nervously, gesturing towards the CMO's office. "Peter's taken over sickbay, and I can't take care of our daughter right now. Would you be willing to watch her for a few hours? She's still in danger, so please do keep your claws ready if you're willing. I can't leave here, I hope you understand?"
The feline seemed taken aback, not quite sure why he was called down here when he was so clearly headed about to complete the orders that he was given. As he learned the source of the call up, however, he shook his head, emphatically declining the invitation. “No, excuse me, murr. I was blamed for the last time something happened involving children on this vessel. I am certainly not going to accept any more responsibilities involving them, murr. I am quite clearly incapable of being any sort of Fatherly figure, and therefore, I have foremost given up any idea of ever having a family, let alone, doing what you are asking me to do.”
He then hastily added, “Thank you, murr, never the less.”
Finally, his tail drooped back, the cat now quite silent.

=/\=Bridge to Commander Garrett,=/\= the calm voice of Commander T’Nar spoke before Captain Reynolds had a chance to reply. =/\=Commander Pride found a trail to follow. Should we set a course after he confirms there are no ships present?=/\=
“Affirmative,” Megan replied, glancing briefly at Matt. “Once we’re sure there are no other ships in this area, follow the course set by Commander Pride, Garrett out.”
Turning back to Matt, she continued. “I’m going to have to make this quick, but I just wanted to speak with you for a moment. I realize the last few missions you’ve seen things from me that have most likely made you suspicious. I’ve decided that given the current circumstances, it’s best that I’m honest with you. I was formerly an agent in a legitimate branch of Starfleet, but I resigned shortly before being assigned to the Jefferson. You had probably assumed something like this, but I felt you should hear it from me. I also wanted to let you know that I’ll do everything I possibly can to recover Caleb and the others including using my former connections. To that end, I have called in a favor and requested a team specializing in rescue operations.”
Pausing for a moment to allow him to process this, Megan met his gaze firmly, and was about to continue when another call interrupted her. =/\=Bridge to Commander Garrett, there’s been some sort of altercation in sickbay. Security was just called.=/\=
“Acknowledged,” Megan replied. “I’ll head to sickbay and find out what happened.” Turning back to the Captain, she quipped, “If it’s not one thing, it’s another huh?” She’d been trying to lighten the mood, but it didn’t appear to work. Growing serious once more, the First Officer met his gaze firmly. “We will get them back, Captain. I will do everything in my power and use every tool at my disposal to ensure they are all returned to the Jefferson safely and quickly. You have my word on that, Sir.”
<Tag Matt>
Once arriving in sickbay, Megan was glad to see security officers already stationed outside, and upon entry, noticed that her sister was there speaking with Corporal Mitchell. As Jayden moved back toward Nathan, the Commander approached her sister. “Ma...Ensign,” the First Officer corrected herself, ignoring the small smirk on the younger Garrett’s face before continuing in an entirely professional tone of voice. “What happened? I was only told that there was an altercation of some kind.”
Nodding and reluctantly slipping back into a more professional frame of mind as well given that her sister was in charge, Marina replied, “An unknown assailant attacked Nathan while he was unconscious. Somehow, the doctor managed to grab Jayden’s phaser and stun him after several missed shots. The Corporal was asleep in a chair next to him. The unconscious intruder was transported to the brig a moment ago.” At her sister’s glance towards the also unconscious CMO, Ensign Garrett added, “He should be alright eventually, and his father has temporarily taken over sickbay.”
Shaking her head, Megan sighed heavily. “This doesn’t make any sense… What purpose would they have sending someone here to confront the doctor, especially in sickbay surrounded by other people and with a Marine right here next to him?”
“That’s exactly what I said,” Marina replied somewhat impressed that her dorky big sister had reached the same conclusion. “And I have no idea what the answer is.”
“Another good question is where was security? They were supposed to have guard on all the van Breughel’s at all times. How did someone just walk into sickbay and confront the doctor without being stopped or detected in the first place?” the First Officer added, growing frustrated with the temporary command of tactical/security department. “Do you know if my order for round-the-clock protection still stands?”
“All I know is that when I finished my shift, I was replaced by another team. I don’t know what happened after that,” Marina admitted, feeling the need to defend her boss somehow but not knowing enough to do so. Besides, it was just beginning to really sink in that her older sister was now her boss’ boss, and that was strange...
Sighing in irritation, Commander Garrett shook her head again. “I’ll have to have a talk with Ensign Orlov. For now, I want you to remain here and keep an eye on all four of them. I’ll tell the guards outside to stay as well as an extra precaution,” Megan ordered interrupted by yet another comm call before she could say anything else.
=/\=Shuttlebay to Commander Garrett, we’ve got a small ship approaching using your authorization to dock, but I need your confirmation before allowing them in.=/\=
“Yes, we’re expecting them, Lieutenant. I’ll be down to greet them shortly, Garrett out.” Looking back at Marina, the Commander was still far from happy with security and it showed. “Just make sure that he stays safe and that someone replaces you when you’re shift ends. And you can go ahead and warn Orlov that I’m not happy if he asks. It doesn’t really matter because he’ll be hearing it from me either way.”
With that, her sister exited sickbay, leaving Marina behind to marvel at the fact that she would soon go chew out her boss. It was so weird thinking of Megan like that...
Arriving just in time to see the average looking type-eleven shuttle sliding through the forcefield into the bay, Megan once again steadied herself. She was prepared for dealing with them, but with everything going on it was easy to get mentally side-tracked thinking about it all, and every ounce of concentration was needed for this task. Once the deceptively innocuous looking vessel had settled on the deck and powered down, the door opened and the officer she recognized as the team leader, Lieutenant Commander Vince Berelli, stepped out followed quickly by the others.
The Klingon was the tactical member, and second in command, Lieutenant Torad, the second human was the engineer, Lieutenant Raymond Wilson, and the calm, Vulcan female was the scientific member, Lieutenant T’Haren, with Berelli as their leader and pilot. Stepping forward, Megan put on her ‘diplomatic face’ and smiled pleasantly at them. “Welcome aboard the Jefferson. I’m Commander Garrett, the First Officer. If you’ll follow me, I have made arrangements for your accommodations.”
True to form, they each matched her diplomatic posture and expression, aside from Torad and T’Haren who maintained their cultural swagger and stoicism respectively. “Thank you, Ma’am,” Vince replied, his tone equally pleasant, though Megan did detect a slight edge in keeping with his ‘not diplomatically suited’ status in his file.
In spite of being solidly in command of this mission, Megan nonetheless used her knowledge and authority to provide them with ideally suited location and equipment to allow them to do their jobs. It was one thing to be more forceful than usual to maintain control but to cut them off when they could be of help made no sense. To that end, she had provided them with a suit of rooms adjacent to a currently vacant science lab, which could serve as a command center of sorts for the team. It was also all on the same deck as the shuttlebay, so they could access their shuttle as quickly and easily as possible. Commander Garrett knew perfectly well that such consideration was rarely provided on starships, who knew little of what was needed.
Entering the makeshift command center, she turned to address them. “For now, I think it best that you work separately from the rest of the crew. I will include you in any official meetings or briefings, and there may come a time when your more active participation will be requested during the search, but until then, you’ll work here. I sanctioned off this lab, so you shouldn’t be bothered. You have access from here to all sensor logs and information as it becomes available, as well as what’s going on currently. If you have any information or discoveries to add, you may contact me. Otherwise, your part will come into play once we locate where the boys are held.”
“Yes, Ma’am,” Berelli replied, though she thought she detected a slight measure of respect that wasn’t there before. He had already noticed their proximity to their shuttle and the amenities provided by their lab and understood their significance.
“I set aside four standard crew quarters on the deck below us for your use, but I’d figured you would rather get settled in here first. The room assignments are here on this padd,” Megan added, handing it to the Lieutenant Commander. “If you need anything else, just contact me, and I can arrange it. Now, the current situation has gotten a bit strange. While I’m fairly certain the boys and their kidnappers are long gone, someone stayed behind and attacked one of the fathers. We are sweeping the region to determine if there’s a ship nearby as well as attempting to track the ship with the victims. The intruder is in the brig, so perhaps we’ll get some answers there, but that’s how things stand at the moment. Go ahead and get settled in, and again, contact me if you need anything, but right now, I am needed on the bridge.”
With that, Commander Garrett left, with Berelli’s repeated, ‘Yes, Ma’am,’ echoing behind her. So far, that had gone well, and it appeared she at least earned some measure of respect with her arrangements. Megan’s next stop was going to be the security officer to speak with Mr. Orlov, but moments later, her commbadge sounded once again. =/\=Bridge officers, report to your stations. We’ve found the ship.=/\=
This was certainly a shock, but Megan redirected the turbolift and tried to mentally piece together what could possibly be going on... It made no sense for the ship to stay behind, it equally made no sense to send another ship, and it also made no sense for someone to attack the doctor. These people were supposedly professionals, but they certainly weren’t acting like it now. Stepping out onto the bridge, the First Officer put these thoughts on the back burner for the time being and moved to her chair. “Report,” she asked, taking a seat. “Are they aware we know their location?”

He knew that somebody was standing next to him but he really need to center himself again. finally looking up at the individual talking to him. " I'm sorry I had to come and check on him myself. As you can feel his emotions I have been told that people can still hear you when they are a sleep. I was just making sure he knew we are doing everything we can. Not to mention I really need a few moments to center myself. Watching him sleep and studying his breathing pattern relaxes me. I see patterns all the time so some times I need to look at the simple one's such as breathing to relax"
All of a sudden he heard the call to report to the bridge with out another word he left arriving right after Commander Garrett. He took his station to see what they found he was confused because they shouldn't have caught up with the ship yet. Still something was going on things were moving to fast and were not making any sense.
Looking over at Valad " This doesn't make sense we shouldn't have caught up with them so quickly like this. They went out of there way to mask them selves and all of a sudden they appear like this. Something is very wrong here"<Tag Valad>
Turning to face Commander Garrett " Commander my I suggest we at least go to yellow alert. They went through alot of trouble to hind from us, and all of a sudden they appear in the open like this" <Tag Garrett>

Cyle heard the call for security over his comm badge, and knowing that marines and security would normally work together no matter what the reasons, he made his way towards sickbay as quickly as he could. When he arrived he saw two security officers standing guard outside the door. "Is your CO inside?" He asked the ensign to his left. The Lt. jg on his right spoke up first, "no sir, our CO has not reported in as of yet. Ensign Garrett is heading the investigation at this moment" Cyle nodded and stepped into sickbay, surveying the area quickly. Nathan lay on his biobed over looked by a nurse and an older individual, who looked like he could be the doctor father. Ensign Garrett was speaking to one of the other nurses as Cyle stepped up to her. "Engisn, report." Was all the marine said, as he waited for the younger Garrett to reply. After a quick report on her part, the ensign stood and waited.
=/\=Bridge officers, report to your stations. We’ve found the ship.=/\= Cyle turned to leave and stopped for a second at Nathan's bed. Leaving sickbay finally he went to a turbolift and took it to the bridge. Arriving on the bridge he went to the security terminal and waited for an update

The words that had just been spoken still hung in the air and for a second, Matthew Reynolds believed that his mind was playing tricks on him. All of his suspicions had just been confirmed and he immediately realized that he had wasted countless hours conspiring against his first officer. Both of them knew that they would need to have a face to face conversation about her previous activities, but right now that was not important. Without even asking, he knew that the entire crew was working diligently to find the children safe and sound. The only one that was hurting that effort was Matt himself. Separating himself from his crew and friends was not going to help him find his son. His place was on the bridge and once they found Caleb again it would be in the captain's chair.
=/\=Bridge officers, report to your stations. We’ve found the ship.=/\=
Knowing that they could not have possibly found the ship carrying the children. Matt made a quick move to the door. It was time for him to make an appearance on the bridge and get back to work.
"Admiral, permission to take a station," Matt asked as he entered the bridge.

"Ensign, report," came the familiar voice of Major Johnson from the doorway, which somewhat startled Marina, who had been speaking with a nurse who had been in the other room and heard some of what had happened when the Marine arrived.
“Excuse me,” she murmured to the nurse before heading in Cyle’s direction. “Sir, it appears that an unknown assailant attacked Doctor van Breughel while he was asleep. They waited until sickbay was mostly empty. Several nurses were in one of the back rooms organizing supplies, but they only heard a struggle and arrived too late to do anything. Corporal Mitchell was asleep in a chair next to the biobed, and Nathan managed to grab his phaser and stun the intruder before Jayden woke up and called for security. The attacker is in custody in the brig, and hopefully the doctor will be alright. He’s still recovering from a heart attack earlier. Meg...I mean Commander Garrett ordered an around-the-clock guard for Nathan, his father and daughter, and Jayden, since it had apparently gotten cancelled for some reason.”
Marina didn’t want to say so, but she was somewhat…disappointed with her boss at the moment. Ensign Orlov didn’t seem to have any idea what was going on or what to do about it, and frankly, she felt more comfortable reporting in to the Major than her own superior. Ensign Garrett had more respect and trust in Cyle and even her sister than the acting head of security, and she knew that wasn’t a good thing.
As Cyle was called to the bridge and she was left behind to continue guarding the doctor and his family, a question began forming in her head. What did she do about how she was feeling? Surely she wasn’t the only one concerned with Ensign Orlov, but who to go to and discuss this with was difficult. Generally, that would fall under the prerogative of the First Officer, but with everything going on, plus the fact that the officer in question was her own sister, Marina didn’t want to come across as whining to her big sister as opposed to a concerned, professional security officer.
For now, Marina would continue to do her job, but once her shift was over, she’d have a decision to make, and for now, she had no idea what her choice would be. For the moment, however, she would do her job. She had as clear of a picture as she could get regarding what had happened from speaking with Jayden and the nurses who had overheard. The security officer wanted to speak with Nathan, but clearly that should and would wait. Jayden was so worried and clearly didn’t want to leave the doctor’s side, and Ensign Garrett felt rather sorry for him. It couldn’t be fun going through all this. Completely over the earlier tension, she crossed the room to check on him. “Jayden, how are you holding up?” she asked sympathetically.
<Tag Jayden> ~
“I don’t believe so,” Valad replied, checking with his sensors. “They haven’t changed course or powered up their shields and engines, so I would recommend we make it seem that we have not found them either," the operations officer replied wearily.
Tavik looked positively exhausted, and in spite of the current situation, it wouldn’t do to be wearing the crew out completely. “Lieutenant, when was the last time you got some sleep?” Megan questioned, and the look on his face was her answer. “You are relieved. Go get some rest for at least six hours. That’s an order,” she added.
<Tag Valad>
At that moment, Commander Pride also arrived on the bridge, got to his station, and exchanged a few words with Tavik on his way to the turbolift. Then sensors did seem to indicate that the other ship had no idea they had been located, which was good news for the Jefferson. "Commander, may I suggest we at least go to yellow alert. They went through a lot of trouble to hind from us, and all of a sudden they, appear in the open like this..." Desert suggested, seeming wary of all of this.
“I’m suspicious as well, Commander,” Megan replied. “But for now, they don’t seem to have realized we detected them, and a yellow alert might put them on edge. I’d rather keep the advantage than give them a warning, especially as our shields are already up given the circumstances. However, if they make any sudden moves or increase power to their shields then we’ll go straight to red alert. For now, we’ll just monitor their position.” Scrutinizing the helmsman for a moment, the First Officer thought that he looked exhausted as well. “Commander Pride, you’re relieved, and I want you to get at least six hours of rest before coming back on duty,” she ordered firmly, her tone leaving absolutely no room for any further discussions or debates.
<Tag Pride>
Once both Commander Pride and Lieutenant Tavik had left and were replaced with their backups, Megan turned her attention to the ship drifting nearby. Their shields were on, though far from fully powered, but they were clearly implementing some sort of stealth technology as well as a cloaking device. It was proving very difficult to detect them, and the last thing they needed was to lose track of the ship. “Bridge to Engineering, Commander T’Ress, we need a way to reliably track the vessel off our port bow. Is there any way you know of to place some sort of tracking device on their hull without their knowledge?” Commander Garrett requested, hoping he had something in his bag of tricks to ensure they could locate where the boys were taken.
<Tag J’Varr>
Following his response, Major Johnson arrived on the bridge and assumed tactical, causing Megan to briefly wonder where Ensign Orlov was. He was already in her black book so to speak for apparently countermanding her orders to keep a guard with Nathan and his family, and it now seemed he wasn’t managing his department nor fulfilling his responsibilities. Given all the security issues the Jefferson had been experiencing recently, Commander Garrett couldn’t foresee him remaining in his current position for much longer. The problem was quickly growing out of control.
Crossing the bridge to speak with Cyle a little more privately, Megan approached his station. “Major,” she addressed him, keeping her voice low. “I need you to take a more active role in tactical and security for the time being. I am greatly concerned with our current readiness and the status of that department. I do not want you to directly confront its current chief, but quietly pick up the slack so to speak to keep this ship running smoothly and safely until I can do something more drastic to deal with the problem. Be aware of any problems you see and have a report ready by the end of the mission regarding the current status of the department,” Commander Garrett requested, making sure that no one else could overhear her by accident.
<Tag Cyle>
“We currently have a prisoner in the brig though he’s most likely still unconscious. When the time comes, I would like you to oversee the interrogation. There’s a team onboard to assist with rescue of the children when the time comes, but one of the members, Lieutenant Torad, has some experience in interrogations. I want you to work with him. I will contact him to meet you in the brig in an hour or so, when the intruder will be fully conscious. We need him to tell us what the ship is doing here and where the boys are, so you can give the Lieutenant plenty of leeway,” she added.
<Tag Cyle>
When Matt arrived just then, Megan was somewhat surprised to see him on the bridge, but at the same time, she could understand how difficult it would be to stay completely away. The Captain approached the Admiral first, and she quickly moved to join them. “Sir, I don’t know who the man is that we have in the brig or who is on that ship, but although I do think they’re connected to all of this, I doubt this is the same ship and people who took the children. I suggest we talk to the intruder we have and keep a close eye on the ship. Perhaps it will lead us to where they are.”

Hearing Commander Garrett's reasoning he had to agree with her he was jumping the gun a little so to speak. Still they shouldn't have caught up with the ship so soon there was something else going on here. He also heard her orders to get some rest he was about to object but the look on her face made it clear there was no wiggle room.
Looking at the ship again he got up from his station, he had to admit she was right he had been on the go since he arrived. He thought she could use some rest herself but she was the first officer and this was not a fight worth having he was too tired. Before leaving the bridge he looked at Commander Garrett.
" Commander its really strange we caught up to them, makes me wonder if there waiting for somebody. I mean when you have that big of a lead why chance blowing it by stoping when you know a star ship could catch up to you if you do. With everything that has happened I just wonder if there waiting to meet somebody or pick up our friend from the brig. Just food for though Commander I will report back in 6hrs" <Tag Garrett>
He left the bridge and started to make his way to his quarters he arrived to see Sandy sleeping. She didn't even open her eye's she felt his presences and went of sleeping. He changed his uniform and sat down to begin meditating it would refresh him and allow his senses to relax. Things were still bugging him about the whole thing why was it so easy all of a sudden. He calmed him self and relaxed he figured they would know shortly what was really going on here.

"I'm fine," Jayden replied flatly, not really wanting to talk to anyone right now. "Ask your questions, but I'm not leaving him alone now. What exactly do you want to know?" He sensed she needed to talk to him, question him, and that she'd rather talk to Nathan. "You could try talking to him when he regains consciousness and has had some time to recover,' he promised sadly. "Peter promised me he'd be all right, and I can sense he's struggling." He smiled sadly. "He'll be fine," he said firmly, seemingly more to convince himself than anyone else.
~
Nathan felt himself floating and became strangely aware of lying on something flat and hard. His next sensation was not being able to move, and that he was attached to all sorts of equipment. He felt something -to his perception- heavy on his face and he tried to remove it, but found he had no energy to do so.
Slowly, he opened his eyes, gasping for breath. At first what he saw was just a grey blur, but it slowly took on the shape of sickbay's ceiling. ~sickbay~ he wondered ~why am I in sickbay?~ He struggled against his own senselessness, and finally gained the energy to lift the mask from his face. There was no pain, though he felt extremely weak and drained. He shivered, wondering why he was so cold.
Almost immediately, he felt someone drape something over him and the shivering subsided. A face appeared in his line of sight and he smiled. "Jayden," he whispered, reaching out.
Jayden almost cried out in pure joy, throwing his arms around Marina's neck. "Oh I'm sorry," he apologised, before rushing over to the bed. "I'm here love," he whispered back, tears of joy streaming down his face, "how do you feel?"
"Weak," Nathan replied, "trampled. What happened?"
"You don't remember?"
Slowly, and extremely careful, the doctor shook his head. "No," he whispered sadly, "not much. Though I would like an answer to my question." He cast hopeful eyes up at his mate.
Jayden sensed the intent of the question, but decided to answer the prior one first. "You had a bad heart attack and nearly died," he choked out, taking his mate's hand in both his own, "and my answer was yes." He leaned forward, his lips brushing against Nathan's. "Are you up for answering a few questions? Ensign Garrett is here, and she might as well now you're awake."
Slowly, Nathan nodded. "I'll get you something to rest later," Jayden promised, "you need it, don't argue with me. I won't leave you, I promise.'
Again, Nathan nodded, his eyes shifting to Garrett. "Go ahead," he said softly.

Knowing that the decision was not going to be his to make, Matt stayed silent as he waited for MC to answer Megan. All he could at this point is offer his opinion and hope that it was taken into consideration.
"Admiral, I agree with Commander Garrett. The people who took the children did so with ease. I would be hard pressed to believe that we have come upon them this easily. It doesn't make sense," Matt said as he tentatively took the secondary operations console," Lieutenant Tavik it's your call."
(Valad)
Not knowing how they were going to approach the situation, Matt decided that it was time for him to get a few answers and the only one who could really provide them was Megan.
"Admiral, I think it's about time we interrogate the prisoner, Commander Garrett and myself have past experience doing this and it might lead us to the answers we seek," Matt said as he looked at Megan hoping to catch her attention.

Caleb's Point Of View Unknown Planet
As long as Caleb could remember he had loved the snow. It always meant snowball fights, skiing, and Christmas. The people of the Oceanus settlement did everything possible to give the children three days of snow with the second day being declared Christmas. His love affair with snow was now at an end. Breathing the frozen air felt like thousands of pinpricks. His hands were already turning blue and he could only think how bad it was for the kids around him.
"Freddy, I don't know where we are but we have to stay together," Caleb said as he motioned for him to get closer to him," whatever happens you need to stay near me."
(Freddy)
"Freddy I need you to look after Alex for me," Caleb said as he took hold of Kyle," I know you are scared, but after me you are the oldest. I'm going to depend on you to be strong."
(Freddy)
Caleb was also a young boy, but he knew that he was putting a lot of pressure and responsibility on Freddy and for a second he hoped that he had said nothing.
"If you don't go any faster I'll throw you into the river," a hooded figure said visibly cold and angry.
"All of you, we need to speed things up," Caleb said turning to the kids that had apparently been with them as well," the faster we go the faster we can get to some type of warmth."
"Listen to the boy, he knows what he's talking about!" the man said laughing at the children's situation. For the first time that he could remember, Caleb hoped that his father would kill someone.

2hrs had passed while he had been resting he was starting to feel a little better. He wanted to head back to the bridge but thought better of it. Commander Garrett orders were not open for debate. He was wondering if there was anything else he could be working on in order to help the mission. Getting up from his position on the floor he headed out of his quarters to the holodeck. He had an idea about something but needed to test it first if he was going to disobey orders he had better have a good reason.
He arrived at the holodeck and entered " Computer from the scans of the ship that we are currently watching please create the internal workings of the ship."
A few seconds later he was standing on the bridge of the alien ship. There was no real way to know if it was exact but all he cared about was that the size was right. " Computer with your best information please create the minimum amount of crew to safely fly this ship." A few seconds and there was a crew he started to explore the ship in close detail to its size. " Computer please in crease the crew number by 15%. He watched as more bodies were put into the program.
As he explored the rest of the ship he started to get the feeling this was not the ship that would have held the children. It was small and fast there wasn't lot of room he remembered how many were taken and there sizes and shapes as well. It would have been a very tight fit even under the best conditions. " computer in cluded a standard cloaking device and all needed systems"
When the cloaking device appeared he noticed how much more room it took away. He then headed for the crew compartments and walked in. With that added crew and children even if they had four to a room there was still not enough room. If they were smart enough to get aboard then they wouldn't chance not making sure they could secure the children with out them getting out. The only thing he could draw from this was there had to be 2nd ship one that was responsible for taking the kids after they secured them. It made sense use this ship to grab the kids and transport them to a bigger ship waiting near by this ship would only have to hold the childern for a short time. Then it hit him like a ton of bricks they knew that the Jefferson would chase the ship that had done it . We weren't looking for a obvious trail we were focused on the hidden one.
" compute check the senor logs and examine the course this ship took check to see if there is another warp trail leading away from alien ship currently on our scans." a few seconds went by and he got his answer. " Computer locate Commander Garrett" a moment later he had gotten her location the brig. He left the holodeck and arrived at the brig he entered to see there captain and the Commander he waited a moment he didn't want to interrupt what they were doing. <tag anybody>

Hours had passed and the children had been torn from the dark room, forcefully pushed back out into the snow. Much to Freddy's relief, Caleb and his cousins were there as well. The young boy was frightened to the core, but he still hovered protectively over the injured girl he had saved earlier. She was recovering but still fairly weak. And this freezing wind would certainly kill her.
Shivering, the boy trudged forward through knee-deep snow, towards Caleb. "Where are we," he asked, "where are we going?"
"Freddy, I don't know where we are but we have to stay together," Caleb said as he motioned for him to get closer to him," whatever happens you need to stay near me."
"Promise me you won't leave me," the younger child begged, "you left me before. I'm scared and I want to go home."
"Freddy I need you to look after Alex for me," Caleb said as he took hold of Kyle," I know you are scared, but after me you are the oldest. I'm going to depend on you to be strong."
"I'll try," the child said, taking one of the boys from his friend. "Mary, stick with me," he told the injured girl. He tried not to hear their captor's voice, tried not to feel the freezing wind that whipped through his hair and turned his skin blue with cold. Most of all, he tried not to feel the burning of the bruises across his back and shoulders, or the knife-score across his arm.
Slowly he trudged onward, dragging two children with him. On occasion, he lost his footing and fell face first into the snow, only to be roughly hauled up again. Then suddenly, there was the oddest sight and first Freddy thought he was dreaming. Two doors slid open, right before them in the middle of the blizzard. "Run!" the boy cried, hoisting Alex onto his sore back, hauling Mary with him. He ran for his life, not knowing where he was running, as long as it was out of this horror.
ooc: valad asked me to end in holodeck doors opening. he's got plans here...

Mc7 was surrounded by the Jefferson's Bridge crew, including the ships regular Captain, Matt Reynolds. The group were discussing the the recently captured prisoner, and the various options available to them with regards to him,
"Admiral, I agree with Commander Garrett. The people who took the children did so with ease. I would be hard pressed to believe that we have come upon them this easily. It doesn't make sense,"
The points that Matt and Megan were making made sense, it simply didn't make sense that the ship would suddenly stop unless they had to given they knew that the Jefferson, and potentially a number of other Starfleet ships were after them.
"Admiral, I think it's about time we interrogate the prisoner, Commander Garrett and myself have past experience doing this and it might lead us to the answers we seek." Mc7 nodded.
"Captain Reynolds, if you go to the Brig and prepare for the interrogation, Commander Garret will join you shortly."
A look of surprise flashed over Matt's face, but it was very quickly hidden again. He nodded to the assembled officers before heading to the turbolift.
"Commander, join me in the ready room for a moment, please,"
Mc7 was already making his way across the Bridge as he finished the sentence. Seconds later, the two officers were standing in the smaller room located just off the Bridge.
"Megan, we need the information that man holds. I made a promise to Matt to get Caleb, and the rest of the children, back. But remember the conversation that we had earlier about the covert actions team, the same applies to you too. There are limits to what we can do with this man, and I don't want those crossed. And keep an eye on Matt for me please, he must be under a huge amount of stress, and I want you to make sure he doesn't do anything that will come back to haunt him during the interrogation."
Taking a breath, Mc7 finished his thought aloud,
"Now go get me the information that will get those children back"

Cyle nodded in silence, keeping his thoughts to himself. He knew his actions would cause the current security officer to lose his position, but he also hated incompetence in an officer in charge of the safety of the ship. He pushed these thoughts aside as Megan continued her requests.
Cyle smiled a rare smile at the thought of working with Lt Torad once again. He was sure Commander Garrett would see his smile as one of excitement for interrogating someone, but the marine also knew she wouldn't have known about his "special assignment" unless it was a need-to-know situation, which was very unlikely. "The report will be on your desk by the end of the week, and I'll head down to the brig now, and wait for the Lt. to arrive"
With Megan's leave Cyle exited the bridge and hurried, uncharacteristically towards the brig. When he arrived he explained to the guard on duty what the situation was. The marine stood outside the occupied cell motionless. He waited for about 20 minutes before the prisoner stirred himself to consciousness. Cyle continued to stand unmoving outside the cell while the prisoner got his bearings. "Where am I?" the prisoner said finally seeing Cyle's form outside his cell. Cyle didn't answer the question aimed at him, instead he continued to stare at the man inside the cell.
***
Lt. Joey Moz had been standing guard over the prisoner for the last 3 hours, all the way up to Major Johnson arrival. The security officer had heard stories about the marine, but had not ever met him, until today. He watched as the well built, cold eyed marine stared at the prisoner. Joey couldn't stand still even though the marine wasn't looking directly at him, he couldn't imagine how the prisoner must feel. "Would you stop staring at me!? Cant you do something?" The prisoner yelled, first at Major Johnson then at Joey. It was obvious to Lt. Moz that the prisoner was feeling uneasy by the marines icy stare, but the security officer couldn't blame him either, he was feeling as if he was under interrogation.
Another 20 minutes slowly passed as Joey stood watching the marine officer at work, not saying any words, only staring at the prisoner, who Joey felt was losing his mind. Lt. Moz turned when he heard the doors to the brig open, and quickly snapped to attention as Commander Garrett and Captain Reynolds stepped in followed by another Lt. Commander Garrett was first to speak, although she had to speak up over the prisoner's yelling.
<tag Garrett>
"Major Johnson has been standing there for the last half hour ma'am, he only spoke to explain to me that he and another Lt. would be interrogating the prisoner. The prisoner woke about 10 minutes after the major arrived."

"I'm fine," Jayden replied, his voice devoid of emotion. "Ask your questions, but I'm not leaving him alone now… What exactly do you want to know?" he asked flatly.
Blinking in surprise at the depth of his emotional condition, Marina hesitated briefly, wondering if she should just leave him alone, before finally replying. “Actually, I didn’t want to ask you any more questions. I was just checking to see if you were doing ok or if there was anything I could do. I actually need to speak to Nathan, not you.”
"You could try talking to him when he regains consciousness, and he’s had some time to recover. Peter promised me he would be alright, and I can sense that he’s struggling. He'll be fine," Jayden stated, though his voice sounded anything but sure.
At that moment, Nathan began to wake up, and Corporal Mitchell seemed to forget she was even there as he rushed to the doctor’s side. Stepping back out of the way and out of earshot to afford them some privacy, Marina stepped to the doorway to speak with the guards, keeping the door open so she could still see them from there. “Have you two spoken with Ensign Orlov recently?” she questioned them, and after they shook their heads, sighed. “How long has he been head of the department?”
Before they could answer, Jayden began motioning her over, and nodding to the two officers, trying to focus on her job rather than her current concerns, the security officer reentered sickbay. Crossing to Nathan’s bedside, his eyes turned up toward her. "Go ahead," he whispered weakly, making Marina feel a bit bad to bother him.
“I won’t take too long,” she promised. “Just tell me what you remember. I’m fairly certain we’ve pieced together what happened, but if you can confirm it, that would help. I only need a moment or two, but if you aren’t up to it, we can do this later.”
~
"Admiral, I agree with Commander Garrett. The people who took the children did so with ease. I would be hard pressed to believe that we have come upon them this easily. It doesn't make sense," the Captain agreed. "Admiral, I think it's time we interrogate the prisoner. Commander Garrett and myself have past experience doing this, and it might lead us to the answers we seek,” Matt added while looking somewhat pointedly in her direction. Unfortunately, Megan knew what he meant.
Before she could respond, the Admiral stepped in. "Captain Reynolds, if you go to the brig and prepare for the interrogation. Commander Garrett will join you shortly."
"Commander, join me in the ready room for a moment, please," Admiral MC7_of_9 interjected, and in spite of being grateful for his interference, Megan felt unsettled. She had been hoping to avoid this particular situation ever since the death of the Romulan officer she inadvertently killed. She didn’t have the training or experience to perform interrogations on a regular basis, as his death had proven. Commander Garrett hated that Matt now had some sort of idea about her that this is something she could do. An emergency situation was one thing, but normally, it just wasn’t her.
"Megan, we need the information that man holds. I made a promise to Matt to get Caleb, and the rest of the children, back. But remember the conversation that we had earlier about the covert actions team, the same applies to you too. There are limits to what we can do with this man, and I don't want those crossed. And keep an eye on Matt for me, please. He must be under a huge amount of stress, and I want you to make sure he doesn't do anything that will come back to haunt him during the interrogation. Now go get me the information that will get those children back."
Deciding not to go into her history and all of the things going on the background, Megan kept her response simple, merely replying, “Yes, Sir,” before turning to leave.
Entering the turbolift, she first contacted the team. “Commander Garrett to Berelli, have Lieutenant Torad report to the brig for the interrogation we spoke of earlier,” she ordered, respecting the team’s chain of command by going through its leader. Megan had already spoken with Berelli and Torad regarding the interrogation. They would allow Major Johnson to take the lead until and unless it became apparent that more conventional techniques were proving to be ineffective. Her initial instinct was that this was a hardened criminal, but far from a trained soldier, so it could go either way, but she was hopeful that this wouldn’t require more...drastic measures.
It hadn’t taken long to speak with the Admiral or take the turbolift to the right deck, so she’d actually caught up with the Captain by the time she arrived at the brig. In one of the cells, the prisoner was shouting, and they could clearly hear him even from the hallway. It was a concern to Megan, as she wondered why he hadn’t taken him into one of the interrogation rooms, and she hoped Cyle hadn’t already gone too far or done something he would regret. She’d seen the look on his face when he was given this assignment, and while it concerned her, she trusted him to be a professional and was also there to back him up, and keep him from going too far.
Entering the main brig, she found a Lieutenant standing guard watching the cell, but to her surprise, the prisoner seemed to be just fine, all by himself and making a whole lot of noise but without much apparent reason. Since obviously the Major hadn’t gone too far, she addressed the guard instead, trying to stay out of the way of whatever Cyle was doing. “Report, Lieutenant,” Megan requested unobtrusively.
Lieutenant Torad joined them just then, quickly surveying the room before quietly moving to stand alongside the Captain and First Officer. "Major Johnson has been standing there for the last half hour, Ma'am,” Lieutenant Moz replied, eyeing Cyle as he answered. “He only spoke to explain to me that he and another Lieutenant would be interrogating the prisoner,” he added, glancing at Torad almost as if to ask if he meant him. “The prisoner woke about ten minutes after the Major arrived."
A smirk crossed Megan’s face at this reply, as she could see the man was being driven insane by just being stared at like that. It was an old trick, but it seemed to be perfectly suited to the mindset of this particular prisoner. Clearly her suspicion regarding his non-trained status appeared to be accurate, as he was well on his way to breaking just from being stared at and ignored. This might turn out to be easier than she had hoped. “Lieutenant, may I have a word with you?” she asked Torad.
Directing him to the side while keeping an eye on Matt, Megan spoke briefly with him. “Work with Major Johnson. It seems he already has the advantage over the target, so you’ll have to be the negotiator. When you think he’s reached the edge from the silent treatment, try to get the information. I’m sure you can see as plainly as I can that this one won’t need anything...extreme, so keep it basic and clean. I am counting on you to keep things from getting out of hand with this, Lieutenant.” Nodding once, Torad moved to rejoin the guard, before she held him back. “And one more thing, I’m going to try and get Captain Reynolds out of here. I want you to make sure he stays out of it considering his son is missing,” she reminded the Klingon who’d seemed to understand exactly what she meant and nodded again.
Walking back to Matt and Lieutenant Moz, Megan addressed the Captain. “Sir, I think we should get back to the bridge. Major Johnson and Lieutenant Torad have the situation well in hand. We should now start to focus on the ship. We could use your expertise at ops while Lieutenant Tavik is off duty,” she suggested hoping he would understand why he shouldn’t be in the brig and leave without too much trouble.
<Tag Matt>
At that moment, Commander Pride also arrived, and though he looked better, she was certain it was too soon for him to be back. “I don’t believe it’s been six hours, Commander,” she commented dryly. “And since you should have been sleeping, there is absolutely no reason you should be back so soon. I require an explanation.”
<Tag Pride>
~
Staying off to the side, arms crossed and leaning against the wall, Lieutenant Torad observed the scene, keeping most of his focus on Major Johnson and the target. It was nice seeing Cyle again, and more importantly, knowing who he was working with, as most of the time in these jobs you never work with the same person twice except your team, and it was hard to know who to trust or what to expect. He still didn’t know what to make of Commander Garrett, but the Marine, he knew. While the rest of the group eventually left, all completely ignoring the prisoner’s plea that someone get Cyle away from him because he was “freaking him out,” the Klingon continued to observe. The fact that everyone else, except for the moron of a guard, seemed oblivious to his presence and plight seemed to drive the man even closer to losing it. The tactical agent had to admire not only the Major’s presence of mind to ignore everyone else and keep staring, but also Commander Garrett and Captain Reynold’s sense to act as though Cyle and the man in the cell weren’t even there as well. It was proving to be a most effective technique for breaking the guy.
As much as it irked him that Commander Garrett kept ordering the team around, Torad had to admit that her orders all made perfect sense so far. He’d never seen Vince, so thrown off and irritated in all the years they’d worked together, and in a way, he had to respect her ability to accomplish that, but it was still somewhat of an insult to put an outsider in command of the mission and the team. On the other hand, she’d trusted them enough to provide them with a great deal of information, and she left Torad in charge of the interrogation, which the Lieutenant appreciated.
Deciding to see where Cyle would go with this and follow his lead, Torad stayed where he was and continued watching, waiting for any sign that the prisoner was about to break before he’d even think about stepping in. He knew Major Johnson well enough to know he’d provide a sign if he wanted the Lieutenant’s assistance, so for now, the Klingon enjoyed watching a man beg, plead, and cry for no reason.

ooc: this is fun IC: Cyle's mind had practically left his body to continue its staring. The marine knew that Commander Garrett, Captain Reynolds, and Lt Torad had all arrived in the brig, and was glad that most of them knew what he was up too. It wouldn't be much longer before the prisoner was ready to talk. While Lt. Torad leaned against the wall Cyle changed his breathing, from slow deep breaths to a faster quicker pace, only for a few seconds, until the Lt. to his right moved from his position on the wall to a similar lean against the side of the cell, first looking at Cyle then turning his attention to the prisoner, who was pleaded for him to stop the marines glare. <tag Torad> Cyle saw that Megan and the captain hadn't left yet, so he continued his stare for a few seconds longer until the brig was left with the three officers inside. "Lt. Moz. your dismissed" Cyle said finally breaking his stare by turning his head to the left. The Lt. stood for a second unsure what to do, until the marines stare was fixated on him. Turning back to the prisoner and Torad, the marine moved aside to allow the Klingon plenty of room. Cyle watched as the Klingon went to work on the prisoner's mind once again, only instead of trying to break it in half, the Klingon was slowly pulling at it. Cyle could tell his part was not quite finished, so he moved to stand behind the Klingon, who was talking quietly with the prisoner. The marines presence was noticed by both the prisoner and Torad, who knelt down to allow the marines gaze to fall upon the prisoner yet again. <tag Torad> Cyle smiled when the prisoner's head fell forward and he sighed. "Alright, tell me what you want to know, just make him stop staring at me." Cyle stepped away from the cell and allowed Torad to ask the questions, which the prisoner was quick to answer. "Major Johnson to Commander Garrett. we have a heading"

“I don’t believe it’s been six hours, Commander,” she commented dryly. “And since you should have been sleeping, there is absolutely no reason you should be back so soon. I require an explanation.”
Looking at Commander Garrett you knew she had every right to ask why he had gone against orders. She was the first officer she was concerned about his healt.
" Commander Garrett while I appear human by all means including biological. I'm more advanced then the the standard human. I require less rest then a normal human because of my training and who I was raised by. This is just for future refrence for time allowed to rest.
I know your about to ask the prisoner questions, I would suggest that all personal belongings be removed I mean everything. That ship our there is not the one we are looking for I just came from the holodeck after doing a little investigation of my own. That ship was the one that took the kids but its not the one that they escaped on. It would not have been possible to do so safely.
They could have only held the kids for a short time before security became a problem for them. Its to small to do so safely we have been so focused on the hidden trail we failed to notice the trail that was right in front of us. There is a old saying the best place to hide something is right out in the open and it worked.
It wasn't until I went to the holodeck and did some checking that I realized we have I believe the word is fooled. They transported the childern to a larger and faster ship one that is better suited to make sure they are secure. I found a warp trail that interceted with the ship on our scanners and leads away from this ship. They wanted us to find this ship its either waiting for us to find it or waiting to pick up somebody.
Think about it there is no logical reason why we should have found them so quickly. Tactical they gave up a edge which goes against logic. There waiting either for us or our guest in there. They want us to focus on that ship and not look for anything else, Commander simple terms we have been had. They knew this ship the crew the counted on me beable to find the trail there is on other logical reason.
They believed by going through great efforts to hide the first ship we would not look for the secound giving them more time to get away. They knew I was assigned to this ship they knew i would pick up on something that couldn't be detected by senors. They knew that you and the captain would focus on my leads because of the hidden trail instead of what was right in front of us.
Commander they fooled us all sometimes the best way to beat somebody is to play to there Strenghts. We have to adjust course but at the same time you need to break the prisoner you dont have alot of time. That ship stoped for a reason and you have to figure out why and in a short amount of time.
I need permission to change course as soon as you have answers. I dont want to give away that we realize our mistake until you have what you need commander" < Tag Garrett>

"I might not remember later," Nathan replied softly, waving the fussing Jayden off. "Jayden please...go check on Angelique. I'll be fine."
Jayden furrowed his brows in concern, getting a whole range of feelings from his partner, but 'fine' was not among them. Yet, the pleading look was too much to bear. "All right," he conceded, "I won't be long. Call me when you need me." He leaned forward to run his hand through Nathan's damp hair, kissing his forehead lightly. "Be good," he whispered teasingly, knowing full well he wasn't going anywhere to be doing anything untoward.
Nathan closed his eyes as the younger man walked away, then opened them again, focusing on the security officer. "I don't know what happened," he stated, "not exactly. I'm not even sure whether I was awake at the time, all I know is that I suddenly couldn't breathe, that someone was trying to choke me. I don't know how I got at Jayden's phaser, but I did somehow."
Agitated and confused, the doctor looked away, trying to control his haggard breathing while trying to remember. "He wanted something of me, said I failed and I'd never see my son again." Tears streamed down his cheeks now as he wrenched his eyes closed a second time. "I don't know what he wanted, I don't know what is expected of me. Why me?"
The monitor at the foot of his bed beeped, its frequency increasing. Peter came running forward, tricorder in hand, with Hannah close on his heels. "I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut this questioning short ma'am," he told Marina, while Hannah pressed a hypospray against Nathan's throat. "He needs rest, and plenty of it. Come back in a few hours, he might be more coherent then."
In the mean time, the tranquilliser kicked in and Nathan slipped back into the merciful folds of unconsciousness. A little later, however, the doctor's readings were starting to grow erratic, laced with terror and grief.
A close observer would notice that the doctor had actually started dreaming:
The whole family was together now, though Jayden was lying unconscious on the floor. He was bleeding from several cuts but Nathan wasn't allowed near him. He struggled against the guard who held him, but his arms were pinned behind his back, held only by a single hand of his captor. His head was held up because his hair was firmly held and yanked backwards, forcing him to watch.
Another man was holding Freddy, who was struggling with all his might, trying to get at his father, screaming and kicking all the while. Several children were cowering in a corner, held together by a cage-like contraption. A third male, of the muscular and burly sort, was holding Angelique, almost gently cradling her. Yet his free hand held a large rusted knife, dripping with blood.
Restlessly, Nathan squirmed on the bed, getting himself entangled in his blankets. He screamed out the baby's name, almost choking as a result.
The baby's lifeless body was dropped to the floor and Nathan tried to bow his head down in grief, unable to watch. He yelped as his head was yanked up again, his arm twisted further to the point of discomfort. “Watch,” his captor whispered in his ear, just as Freddy was brutally killed. The boy's body was tossed at his feet, and only now was he released to his grief, allowed to pick up the body and cradle it close. The last thing he knew was a piercing pain lancing out through his chest. The last thing he saw was the rusted edge of the knife that had killed his children, stick out through his chest, before collapsing forward over his son's body.
Again, the doctor's agonised cry echoed through sickbay, several nurses rushing forward to physically restrain the tormented and thrashing doctor. White-faced, Jayden dashed to his side, murmuring words of comfort while the medical staff worked. “It's all right now,” he whispered, fighting the urge to cradle the stricken man, letting the nurses do their job instead. “You're safe here, no-one will hurt you.”
The half-Betazoid marine got only a few of the impressions, being emotionally tied to the doctor, but he knew enough to know that for Nathan, the experience appeared real. “Shhh,” he whispered soothingly, stroking his partner's cheek though his own words were an attempt to calm his own shattered nerves as well. After a long moment, the doctor's thrashing ceased and he lay still as the stronger sedatives took effect.
“He won't be dreaming now,” Hannah promised, before tapping her combadge. “Sickbay to bridge, any news on recovering the children?” She was getting increasingly worried as well. “We've the doctor stabilised again after the attack, but he's increasingly agitated. Someone please find those children soon, for the sake of this crew's sanity.” She feared for her chief's sanity, if some good news didn't get passed down soon.

"Commander I'll be on the bridge in a few minutes," Matt said understanding that Megan didn't want him there. When he first realized this a flash of anger went through him, but he immediately realized that this was the best course of action," I need to speak with Nathan and my brother. I have neglected them."
Not wanting to be there any longer, Matt quickly left the brig and headed towards the lift. He knew that Megan was trying hard to keep her promise and Matt was immensely grateful, but everything seemed to be going extremely slow. If Matt was feeling this way, he could only assume that his brother and chief medical officer were feeling the same way.
"We haven't found them yet Hannah," Matt said as he entered sickbay. Matt had heard the screams, but said nothing about them," Jayden have you taken a break?"
Jayden shook his head. "No sir, but I will soon. I've been dozing right here though. Major Johnson was gracious enough to relieve me of duty."
"How are you doing?" Matt asked a heavily sedated Nathan. While Matt didn't expect his friend to answer, he knew what he was thinking," if you are unable do not answer. Just know that I'm here for you and I'm sorry that I let my own sorrow consume my actions."
Nathan heard and recognised the voice but was too far gone to give a coherent response. Instead, he tried to reach out and placed icy fingers on the captain's hand, shaking his head very slowly, before slipping into unconsciousness again.
"Hannah, how long until Nathan will be back on his feet?" Matt asked of the trusted nurse," I want him back at work as soon as possible."
"That might be a while captain," Hannah replied, "his father's taken over for now. Nathan suffered a severe heart attack and is under tremendous stress. I'll have him on light duty if he's well enough, but I strongly advise against it. Find those children captain, before everyone goes insane." She rested pleading eyes on the young captain. "Yourself included, I know you must be worried sick."
"Alright, if anything else happens let me know immediately," Matt said as he headed back towards the bridge.
"I will," she promised.
Wanting to get to work, Matt quickly headed back towards the bridge. His brother Jason had been working diligently trying to find his sons and right now he needed to be doing that as well. The situation seemed to have improved with the prisoner because as soon as he entered the bridge, Matt heard Cyle announce that he had a new course heading.
"Admiral, should we follow these new coorindates?"

Caleb's Point of View Unknown Ship Thirty Five Hours Since Captor
Seeing Freddy run away from the pack frightened Caleb but he was unable to do anything. His body was weakened by his surrounding and his captors. Even as Caleb yelled for Freddy to return to the group, he already knew it was of no consequences. The moment that their captors recognized that a few of the kids had gone missing they quickly moved towards the opened doors. Caleb immediately noticed that none of his captors seemed to overly worried that Freddy had tried to escape.
"Come on Kyle, we need to go there," Caleb said pointing towards the door. Instead of trying to escape, Freddy had actually run towards their final destination.
"Caleb why is your eye so big," Kyle asked as he touched the clearly swollen area around his left eye.
"I just fell on my face," Caleb said wincing in pain as his cousin's curious hands felt his face. Caleb noticed that the older children held various injuries.
"What are you looking at?" one of the older boys asked who noticed that Caleb had been looking at them.
"Sorry, I'm just scared like you," Caleb said to the boy.
"I'm not scared, my dad is on the Federation Council, he'll get me out of here," the boy replied.
"So my father is a Starfleet Captain and I'm still scared," Caleb said as he picked up Kyle and carried him across the doors," my name is Caleb and this is my cousin Kyle. What is your name?"
"Tiberius, my father was a big fan of Captain Kirk, but please call me Tib," Tib said as he helped the smaller children around him get inside the cramped room.
"You stupid child, don't you ever run away from me again," the hooded man screamed as he moved to hit Freddy in the face. Caleb saw this and quickly got in between Freddy and the fist coming his way. At first there was no pain, just a flash of white light, but as the blood began to flow, the pain came as well.
"You are brave kid, foolish, but brave," the hooded man said before he wiped off his blood stained fist and walked deeper into what Caleb could only think was a base.
"Freddy, please do what I told you and stay close to me," Caleb said as he spit out the blood in his mouth," I'm responsible for you ok. I need you to be safe."
(Freddy)
"He's right you know, don't go around doing stupid things like that," Tib said as he helped Caleb off the ground.
"I won't let them hurt any of them Tib," Caleb said as he motioned for his group to get closer together," well everyone, this is Tib. He is a friend."
(Tag Freddy)
"Hi Tib, I'm Alex and this is my little brother Kyle," Alex said acting like nothing had happened at all.
"Alex I'm the older one," Kyle said as he bumped his brother out of the way and greeted Tib.
"Well hello guys, I'm Tib and these are my friends Krator, Jill, and T'Jep," Tib said as he introduced the children that he knew," we were captured a week ago."
"How about them?" Caleb asked noticing the Klingon, Gorn, and Bajoran children.

occ:// *In a loud announcer voice* AND NOW THE MOMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!!!! Ok this one is a little PG 13 for a bit of language. Baddie talk.//
The ship rocked as it took off from the USS Jefferson and went to warp. I hate this ship, Brevan Dirk thought to himself as he walked back to the bridge of the Bolian warship.
//:flashback// "Brevan Dirk, Captain of the Federation Starship, the USS Fontaine, you are hereby dishonorably discharged from the Starfleet of the United Federation of Planets and as such shall remain a civilian until passing. //:end flashback//
Brevan went back over his discharge after he had decided to execute members of the terrorist group, "The Agency," as punishment for the bombing runon Deep Space 12. He knew execution was the only way to send a message to the leader of the group, who was known as the Executioner. It was best to give him a taste of his own medicine. But even as he thought this, Brevan remembered who he had defected to: the Agency, the very ssyndicate he vowed to destroy. There were, of course, consequences, of he didn't join them. The Executioner had threatened to murder his family if he did not defect. Brevan hadn't seen his family, his wife and daughter, in over two years. He knew the only way they would ever see him is in a casket six feet under.
Brevan looked at all the stations as he walked onto the bridge of the Bolian warship. One of the Nausicaans, Varl, sitting at the helm was asleep. "Purch, report," he ordered as he walked behind the helmsman and pushed him out of the chair. "Get off my bridge and throw yourself off the ship." All he could do was hope Varl would follow that order. Brevan looked toward Purch as the klingon poke.
"We have the children from the Federation ship. They are being held in the holodeck." He stopped for a moment. "The Operative was captured."
Brevan was annoyed. "That Bajoran fool always has a score to settle.Who is it this time?"
"Dr. Nathan van Breughel," Purch replied.
Naturally, a civilian. He can never pick on someone his own size. "This time leave him. If he gets himself killed that's his own damn problem." Brevan sat in his chair while Purch moved and took the helm. Helm, proceed to the fleet," Brevan ordered. He felt the ship change course as Purch altered it. The Bolian ship wasn't as advanced with the conveniences as Federation ships, but as far as firepower went, the Bolian ship could engage any Federation ship any day. At this point in the game though, it wasn't a matter of if they would meet, it was a matter of when. "ETA?" he inquired of Purch.
"Twelve hours," came Purch's reply.
Several hours had passed as they traveled at various warp speeds. For the entire voyage, Brevan had ordered the Bolian warship to be under cloak. That way if the Jefferson were to pursue, it would be very difficult to find them.
"Purch, I'm going to my quarters," Brevan spoke to his trusted friend. "You have the bridge until I return." Purch was a Klingon of great strength, mental and physical. Brevan and Purch met when Brevan was an ensign aboard te USS Nautilus on a training mission with a Klingon Bird of Prey. There was an exercise involving a shuttle flight test that Purch had been seriously injured after the shuttle had gone down on the surface of a volcanic planet. Brevan, who was his flight partner, nursed him back to health, saving his life. Just before they were rescued, Brevan and Purch were attacked by a group of indigeneous species. A Klingon anew, Purch fought them off, thus saving Brevan. Now, they were blood brothers.
On his way back to his quarters, Brevan couldn't help but wonder what the executioner had planned for the children. It all made absolutely no sense. The parents of the Jefferson children were only a civilian doctor and a Starfleet Captain, not really all that important in the grand scheme of things. Brevan may be a freedom fighter, but he did not harm innocent children. Brevan decided to go to the holodeck to check on the children.
Brevan had just arrived at the holodeck where amny of the children were being held. It had been his idea to use the holodeck as a secondary brig as he created the program himself to hold the children. It was a basic ferderation starship brig, Simple But when he looked at the holodeck panel, Brevan noticed that it was not his prgram that was running, but rather another.
Brevan walked through the doors into a desolate, snow covered mountainous area littered with caves. He looked into the closest and yelled, "Zarbrak!!" He grabbed the hooded Romulan. "Get out now!!" Brevan through him out of the holodeck. He turned back towards the cave and called out to the children, "Get out of the cave. Now!!"
(tag children)
When no one came out, he said, "Why do I bother? Computer, end program and delete it." The environment around him disappeared revealing sixteen kids. "Children of the Jefferson, step forward," he ordered.
(tag Freddie and Caleb)
Brevan continued, "Computer, run program Dirk Beta six and add three guards." A starship brig appeared out of thin air and Brevan ordered the guards to round the other children up into separate cells. "Come with me," he ordered the Jefferson kids. Brevan led the mto a room that was basically equivalent to a Starfleet ship's junior officer's quarters. They passed a Nausicaan, Narm, on the way, who he ordered to guard the door. "Get in," he told the children. Brevan continued on to his quarters, but just before he got there, he heard a call over the comm.
=/\= Purch to Brevan. We are recieving a distress call from one of our freighters. They are requesting assistance. =/\=
Brevan was disgusted. "Tell them to shove off. They can deal with it themselves."
=/\= There's another problem Brevan. They have infomred us that they have been discovered by the USS Jefferson. =/\=
Brevan stopped dead. "Inform the Agency of their coordinates and request assistance. This might be our chance. Turn this pile of junk around and get to their position. Maximum warp!"
=/\= Acknowledged. =/\=
Brevan arrived on the bridge shortly after. "Report!"
Purch quickly replied, "We will be arriving at the coordinates in seventeen minutes."
A Romulan said, "The ship is ready to fight."
The Bolian warship approached the coordinates finding the Jefferson. "How long are they going to take to finish repairs?" Brevan asked.
"Thirty seven minutes sir." came a reply.
Brevan thought for a moment. "Decloak the ship and open a channel to the Jefferson."
Purch quickly turned around, "What!?"
'Do it. That's an order." The channel opened. "USS Jefferson, lower your shileds and prepare to be boarded. You are out gunned. Give up now!"

"I might not remember later," Nathan replied quietly. Jayden was hovering nearby, clearly worried, and the doctor didn’t seemed to want to talk with him there, so he turned to the Marine. "Jayden, please...go check on Angelique. I'll be fine," he added.
Jayden did not look happy to be leaving, but after a few words with Nathan and a reassuring nod from Marina, he did. As soon as the Corporal was out of sight, the doctor closed his eyes trying to gather himself and remember. "I don't know what happened, not exactly. I'm not even sure whether I was awake at the time. All I know is that I suddenly couldn't breathe, that someone was trying to choke me. I don't know how I got Jayden's phaser, but I did somehow. He wanted something of me, said I failed and I'd never see my son again." He was becoming more and more agitated with every word. The Ensign was about to end it there, but he kept going. "I don't know what he wanted. I don't know what is expected of me, why me?"
His distress was beginning to show on the monitors and register on the alarms, which began to go off as the elder Doctor van Breughel and Hannah came running. "I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut the questioning short, Ma'am," Peter provided as the nurse sedated Nathan. "He needs rest, and plenty of it. Come back in a few hours, he may be more coherent then," the doctor suggested, looking quite worried.
Nodding in understanding and feeling terribly guilty for upsetting him, Marina replied, “I don’t need to talk to him again. He doesn’t remember much, and it’s not worth his health to pull the few details he does remember from his memory. Just let him rest.”
Retreating to a distance away while keeping him still within her sight, Marina was beginning to grow angry. This never should have happened or gone this far…that man never should have been able to get anywhere near the doctor before being apprehended and wouldn’t have had the guards remained with him as ordered. She may have been new aboard starships, but Ensign Garrett knew enough to realize that a mistake had been made, and she had a good idea whose mistake it had been.~ After several minutes of careful observation, Major Johnson deliberately changed his breathing patterns drastically for a few moments, and Torad knew that was his cue. Pushing off against the wall, the tall Klingon deliberate lumbered towards the cell, towering over Cyle as if to say, ‘if you think this guy’s bad...’ While eyeing the prisoner for a moment, Torad casually leaned against the wall next to Cyle, still looking quite a bit taller. The man had gone quiet watching the Klingon approach warily, and as Torad fixed his eyes on him, the prisoner began to plead again. “Not you too...please, make him stop. I don’t even know what you people want of me!”
“Who says we want anything?” Torad quipped offering a wicked grin. “For all you know, we may just be hungry and are deciding how to prepare dinner.” The man paled visibly at this, which resulted in a hearty laugh from the Klingon. This one was almost too easy. He was clearly not a warrior. Cyle was reading him perfectly, stepping out of the way while never breaking the stare as Torad moved directly in front of the forcefield. “You know usually we have to go out and hunt for our prey, but this time you were stupid enough to come to us, and while that is convenient, I don’t like being cheated out of the hunt...” he added, eyes narrowing dangerous.
“Wa…wait a minute, there’s been some sort of mistake here. This is all just a…a misunderstanding,” the prisoner stammered, eyes darting back and forth between the leering Klingon and the still staring Marine in desperation and absolute terror.
“I don’t think so,” Torad replied as Cyle moved behind him, still staring. “You were caught in our medical bay threatening a helpless, sick doctor...the very picture of a coward,” he sneered in contempt, growling low as he glowered at the man in the cell, who now looked about ready to faint. Now until you have something useful to provide us with that might distract us from our thirst for blood, you may get out of this protected by the others on this ship who care more for justice than true honor.”
“I don’t know what you want!” the prisoner cried, and right on cue, Cyle dismissed the Lieutenant behind them, causing Torad’s eyes to light up with a primal light of a hunter. “No, no, no, please, just wait…just tell me what you want!” he pleaded, growing more desperate by the minute. “I just don’t know what you want from me!”
Continuing to leer at him hungrily, Torad shook his head. “Well that doesn’t sound like much reason for me to let you live. I need incentive to release my prey from a death grip. And as for him,” he added, indicating towards Cyle with his head. “He’s already working his way into your mind, draining your life force as I will drain your blood. I’d say you’ve got only a few more minutes left before the feast will begin.”
Beyond terrified at this point, the man snapped like a twig. "Alright, tell me what you want to know, just make him stop staring at me!" he begged. “I don’t want to die!”
Sighing reluctantly, Torad turned to the Marine. “Sorry, Johnson...lunch is on hold. If he answers all my questions, you’re out of luck this time. You know we’re only allowed to eat the useless ones. But stick around...if he becomes uncooperative or isn’t helpful providing the information, you can resume your dinner preparations.”
As Cyle stepped away but remained within earshot to feed any important information to the bridge, Torad began to ask all his questions. The prisoner was so terrified of being eaten, and especially of Major Johnson that he gave up everything easily. It was rather funny to realize that the idiot had actually bought the idea of the Marine somehow eating his mind with his staring. The Klingon did love dealing with the stupid ones…they were always the most fun. Within a few moments, they had a general direction that the ship with the boys was taking, and the guy was spilling his guts about anything and everything that he knew regarding their organization.~ "Commander Garrett, while I appear human by all means including biological, I'm more advanced then the standard human. I require less rest then a normal human because of my training and who I was raised by. This is just for future reference for time allowed to rest,” Commander Pride replied. Megan was a little wary of his explanation. It was quite difficult to wrap her head around the idea of so drastically changing his makeup with mere training. From her perspective, she’d been rather conservative with her request of six hours, when eight or even twelve would have been standard. Under the circumstances, she let it go but was far from happy about it. When the navigator began to explain his discovery, Commander Garrett listened intently. It was indeed a very good plan; however, they had made some mistakes, namely allowing one of their own to be captured, which meant the second ship had to wait around for him, mostly likely longer than they had intended. It sounded like the masterminds and the strength of this operation were on the main ship, while the second-rate, less intelligent group was on the smaller vessel. If they were going to find a weakness in this organization, it would most likely be on the second ship. The question became, had the leader already dismissed the smaller ship as a loss or if threatened would the ship have to turn around to defend their assets onboard. “If you’re correct, Commander, that would mean the second ship would be more vulnerable to attack, so if they didn’t want to lose the ship and crew, the first ship would have to turn around and defend them. The question is, would they take the risk to do so?” Megan asked aloud, though it was more presenting a hypothetical. <Tag Pride> As they arrived at the bridge, Commander Garrett stepped across to speak to the Admiral and presented the helmsman’s discovery. “Sir, if this is true, the first ship with the children onboard has a pretty good head start. As much as I’m sure they used the second vessel for a distraction, I doubt they actually intended to sacrifice an entire ship and crew to that end. The capture of the prisoner in the brig slowed them down, giving us the time to locate them. I recommend a direct assault on the ship and see if perhaps the first ship comes back, giving us a rescue opportunity.” <Tag MC> At that moment, the brig contacted her. =/\=Major Johnson to Commander Garrett, we have a heading,=/\= he informed her, providing the same direction that Pride had managed to pick up on as well, so now they had two separate confirmations. “Well done, Major,” Megan replied. “Get as much information as you can from the prisoner and return to the bridge with the report. Convey my thanks to Lieutenant Torad as well,” she added, turning her attention back to the Admiral, and she also included the Captain, who had just returned to the bridge. “That confirms the heading the first ship took, Admiral, so we know which direction to watch for their return to help the second ship, and if they don’t take the bait, we can still go after them too.” <Tag MC/Matt> OOC: Sorry Valad, I'm a little behind your entrance. Lol. Hopefully we'll get caught up soon!

Cyle smiled inwardly as he and Lt. Torad left the brig, allowing the Lt. on guard to deal with the prisoner. The Klingon and the marine were talking as if they had been friends for years, reminiscing about the mission they had done together. They reached the bridge and were still holding a conversation. "If i remember correctly, it was I who saved admiral's daughter, while you were busy with the dogs." Cyle said with a slight laugh, much to the surprise of everyone on the bridge within hearing distance. "Major, did you get any other useful information?" Cyle heard from his left, the marine wasn't sure if it was either from Reynolds or the admiral, and Torad was first to answer "Sir, the captain of the larger ship is Breven Dirk, he was discharged from the Federation after an incident involving "The Agency," who Breven is now working for." Cyle continued where his Klingon friend left off. "The freighter we have been following is only a distraction, though we might be able to use it, only a handful of officer are onboard, if we were to take a small boarding team we could capture it and send a distress signal to lure the other ship in."

Still shivering, though more from fear than from cold, Freddy ran for his life, tugging Alex along, holding on tight to the younger boy's hand. Caleb's words had stung hard, and he had very much wanted to retalliate but he hadn't the strength. He was hungry, cold and exhausted. Moreso, his injuries were hurting and he wanted his father more than anything.
Still when told to enter the quarters, he did so without question. Surprise was visible on the boy's face when there was actually a bed, covered with blankets. Yanking Alex along, he raced for the bed, pulling the blankets off.
Pulling the younger Reynolds boy close, he wrapped the blanket tight around the both of them. The rough fabric scraped painfully against his bruised skin but Freddy couldn't care. It itched insanely, but at least he was warming up now.
Teeth chattering, he leaned close to Alex. "You'll be all right now," he promised, more bravely than he felt. "Dad'll fix us all up after your uncle rescues us. Won't he Caleb? Your dad'll come for us?" Meanwhile, he dabbed a corner of the sheet at a cut on the child's brow. He didn't care for his own injuries, the boy had only eyes for the younger child. In his caring, he was a true child of his father, visibly used to being around the injured.
