Steve checked the status of his senior crew that were still in Sickbay. Ens Lucas had woken up and was declared fit for duty, and Commaders Savot and Traks were still incapacitated....for now.
Gaining control of the ship's computer was still taking a long time, and it would be fair to say that Steve was getting a bit impatient. He knew that his crew were working to the best of their abilities. He was more annoyed at the computer virus. The fact that it was so complex made the work to fix it take forever.

Savot blinked his eyes open a few times, looked up at Doctor Irae who stood above him, then leaned himself to a sitting position and stood up from the biobed.
"Thank you, Doctor. I owe you my life; it is not a debt I will soon forget.", the vulcan ops chief said to the smiling Irish woman, who flashed a wink and handed him a PADD with a map of the Jeffries tube routes needed to get to the bridge.
"'Ere ya go, Commanders. Ah'm sure Smith'll be more'n happy t' see you." Savot and Traks nodded and headed for the route specified.
*************************************
The two Vulcans pried open the turbolift doors and stepped out into the bridge. Smith turned upon hearing them and his face grew with excitement.
"Thank God, you two are just in time. Commander Dantrek's engineering team are working together to try and access each of the ship's main systems simultaneously in order to divide the virus' attention and break through. Assume your posts and do what you can to assist.", Smith said, very glad to have the vulcans back in action.
Traks sat at his Nav station and called up a set of protocols. "Commander, before my incapacitation I was able to set up a backdoor into the system, free from the virus' contamination. Using this we may be able to 'flank' the virus while it is distracted by the Engineering team's efforts."
Smith nodded, "Excellent work, Traks. Get on that immediately, Savot do what you can to help." With that Savot sat at his Ops station and began helping the distraction efforts, also setting up a console link to observe Traks' progress and assist if necessary.

::DanTrek's confidence raised slightly when the two Vulcan Officers forced their way onto the Bridge::
Traks: Commander, before my incapacitation I was able to set up a backdoor into the system, free from the virus' contamination. Using this we may be able to 'flank' the virus while it is distracted by the Engineering team's efforts.
Smith: Excellent work, Traks. Get on that immediately, Savot do what you can to help.
::DanTrek was impressed:: Traks, when this is over, I want you to show me that backdoor of yours. It would be helpful on the other systems.
Traks: Certainly.
::DanTrek turned back to the Computer. He began tearing away at the security lock-outs, figuratively punching holes in them. He managed to get through one layer of the lock-outs on the environmental systems::
Paria: Thats a good sign.
Smith: What is?
DanTrek: We're through the first layer of lock-outs on this system.
Smith: Excellent.
::But just then, the console went offline::
Paria: The console's dead.
Traks: Mine as well.
Savot: As is mine.
::DanTrek looked around. There wasn't a single working console left on the Bridge::
DanTrek: The virus is adapting. It realized what we were doing.
Smith: Now what?
DanTrek: We move. Everybody in the middle of the room.
::Everyone moved, and DanTrek pulled out a site-to-site and set it for Engineering. He activated it::
Nothing.
DanTrek: This isn't good.
::DanTrek pulled out a tricorder::
DanTrek: A transport inhibitor field. Thats what I was afraid of. The virus is adapting to us quickly.

*Traks dove under the engineering subsystem monitor and began to rewire circuits. *
Traks: Everyone stand still I am trying something and have to finish it before the Virus figures it out.
*Everyone vanished from the bridge and reappeared in the sick bay.
Traks: I manually activated the EMH evac program. It is an independent system but now the virus knows about it and we might not be able to use it again.
Traks: Sir Maybe we are going about this all wrong. This virus seems to want us to fight it, could it be keeping us busy for a purpose other than taking over the ship and our systems? If this Virus keeps progressing the way it is we will have to eject the computer core and start over or destroy the ship.
*Traks moved to a computer station and began working his way back in.

Unaware of the approaching danger, with no access to long range sensors, the crew continues to hedge out a plan in sick bay, having escaped the bridge due to Traks' quick thinking.
"Sir Maybe we are going about this all wrong. This virus seems to want us to fight it, could it be keeping us busy for a purpose other than taking over the ship and our systems? If this Virus keeps progressing the way it is we will have to eject the computer core and start over or destroy the ship.", Traks commented to Smith. Smith looked thoughtful for a moment, and Savot chimed in.
"Indeed, Commander Traks' point has plausibility. However, the logical course of action is still finding a means of removing this virus. If it is in fact distracting us to buy time for a larger plot, then we will need the El Salvador fully functional in order to deal with it effectively.", Savot said, with Dantrek nodding.
"Yes, but any hope we have now lies in Engineering. It's not likely the virus has taken out the consoles there too. The only problem is getting there, we could manually override every hatch on the way there, but that'll take awhile.", the orange skinned Engineering chief explained.
Savot's eyebrow rose, "Perhaps not, Commander. Shuttlebay 2 is much closer to sickbay than is Engineering. If we can make our way there, the shuttlecraft computers should still be independent from that of the ship, and we can utilize their transporters to beam directly to Engineering."
Smith snapped his fingers, "Excellent, Savot!", then his face frowned once more, "But we still have no plan on how to get this virus taken out."
Doctor Irae, who had until now just stood quietly with her eyes darting back and forth between the speaking officers, rubbed her chin absently. "Aye tis too bad tha we canna just vaccinate th computer an put it under quarantine."
She nodded at the wishfulness of the thought, then shook herself out of her zoned state.... to find everyone else looking at her, even Savot's mouth was almost agape.
Her eyes widened in concern and nervously she spoke, wondering what had them all like that, "What?"#nosmileys

Steve was the first to speak.
"Doctor, without knowing it, you may have just given us the plan we need."
He stood forward, and turned to face the group.
"Somehow, we need to create another virus or anti-virus as it were, using the computer in the shuttlecraft. Then we need to transmit it to the El Sal's main computer in the hope that it will wipe out the virus."

"Because, Ensign. It was nae th computer virus alone tha came over tha subspace. Twas also a bug, a physical virus. A double package."
:: Deis speaks to Ensign Remeti and then looking at the Commander::
"A moment Sir. I be havin a bit of a think. ::and she does, thinking in silence as everyone looked at her, speaking again after a moment:: Wha is th fundimental difference tween a computer virus and a biological? ::Looking around to each person gathered there and then almost immediatly speaking again:: There isna a difference a'tall.
::Commander Savot nods and speaks up:: "Precisely. The only differences lie in the environments in which they work. A living body versus the machine innards of a computer. What Dr. Irae suggested, whether or not she intended to do so, was the plan that has the greatest chance of success. We must determine the parallels between a living virus and a computer-based one, and correlate the results to form a parallel between vaccinating a living being, and vaccinating the El Salvador computer."
:: Deis agrees with the Vulcan:: It only took a bare hour t design th biological antibodies. Iffen th genetic language be translated and programmed to work th same then, we could upload this into one o those shuttle computers. They are'na corrupted. Th shuttle computers can link wi th El Sals mainframe. Upload th digital antibodies...let th computer heal itsself.
::Remeti Lucas speaks up:: Like using the shuttle as a hypospray??
::Both Savot and Deis say at the exact same time, in unison::Precicely
:: Deis then looks around to ALL to get their opinions on this:: We would merely have t dress out in Ev suits...t get t th cargo bay.

Remeti was little lost. She nodded. In a way it did make sense but in a way none of this made sense. But as long as they got the ship back up and running. This close to the nuetral zone being blind and not moving made her nervous.

(OFF: Traks I believe you missed you calling in s47 as an Engineer. Brilliant!)
ON
DanTrek: It's an excellent plan, but it requires some modification. The virus controlling this ship will counteract the 'anti-bodies.' Speaking in medical terms, what we need is a retro-virus.
Smith: Elaborate, Commander.
DanTrek: Think about it. What did the virus do? Went in, and took over. It crippled the ship. So what we need to do is send the opposite into the Computer. A retro-virus that will overtake the virus just as the virus overtook the Computer. We have it force open the pathways and sub-routines, have it give us back control of the Computer and the ship.
Smith: Could you engineer such a program?
DanTrek: I believe I could. I could use Traks' help. He seems to know his way around the Computer; he would be invaluable.
Smith: Get started.
::DanTrek went over to a Jeffries tube hatch. He opened it. He turned back to Traks::
DanTrek: Are you coming or not, Commander?
::Traks followed and they started down the Jeffries tube::

*Traks followed the CEO into the Jefferies tube; he kept thinking he had missed something. But he felt sure that the virus could be beaten, even if they had to physically eject the computer core and start from scratch. That would really be the last resort.*

Off: As we have incoming personnel, namely the new Counselor Purmau and perhaps Science Officer Mort if he still exists, let's try and wrap this mission up, in a manner that makes sense, at least to the point where we'd be free to intercept a shuttle and take on passengers, within the next few posts. Thank you all.
ON:
Savot and Remeti forced the door, then the remaining Officers in sickbay all moved out. Kivan fully recovered from the viral effects and made his way after Dantrek and Traks, to work out the virus problem.
Smith, anxious to get a reading on the surrounding space, thought back to the working shuttle computers and figured they could utilize the onboard sensors to take almost as far a scan as the normal ship's sensors. Not that they were in much of a position to currently do anything about whatever might be out there, but it was always better to know what was up when you were sitting on the border of potentially hostile space.
Smith, Savot, Lucas, and the Doctor worked together to force the few sets of doors between them and the shuttlebay nearest them. Smith and Savot pulled open doorways while Remeti covered them with her hand phaser just in case.
As soon as they reached the shuttle, they began to dispurse throughout the area. Smith opened a hatch on the wall and called out to the others, dragging 3 EVA suits and a thruster-suit out of the locker.
"All right everyone, let's get suited up. I know it's no fun, but we're right here on the outer edge of the ship now, anything goes, we're not in a position to reseal the shuttle bay and save oxygen. Don't switch on your tanks unless something goes wrong though, if we need the oxygen, we may need it to last quite awhile. Savot, take the T-suit, if something happens you're the one most likely to avoid falling unconscious if debris starts to fly, and then you'll be able to go after those who drift. All right, let's do our part.", Smith ends his rally and everyone suits up, Savot hefting the bulky backpack of the T-suit and strapping it on.
They split into two pairs, Savot and Deis take one shuttle, while Smith and Lucas take another. Savot and Deis basically sit on standby in case Dantrek, Traks, and Kivan need any backup and signal the shuttle computer for it. Smith uses one pad of sensors to scan the ship itself, trying to assess it's actual state as best he can, while Lucas gets on the 2nd station and proceeds to scan an increasing circle around the currently-dormant El-Sal.
Lucas glances away for a second, then turns back sharply, hoping she didn't see what she thought she saw. Hmm... the sensors were clear now, but she could have sworn there were 2 warbird-class pings on the scan. That didn't bode well...

Steve noticed Lucas's look.
"Whats up?" He asked, and walks up to her.
"I could have sworn that I saw a couple of warbird sized pings, sir." She replied.
Steve looked at her readings with bated breath. Just when he thought that it was nothing, the blips came back.
"Damn, this is all we need." Steve said, and headed towards Savot.
=/\= Commander Savot =/\= Steve said though the suit's comm unit. =/\= It appears we have two warbirds bearing down on our position.
OFF: Sorry about being so short guys, I have had a bad day at work, and cant think straight.

A disabled Federation ship would promise a healthy reward to the to COs. SHe sighed. This was shaping up to be a bad day.

::DanTrek and Traks crawl through the winding maze of Jeffries tubes. DanTrek would be glad to get the computer back up and running. This was getting tiresome::
Traks: So, DanTrek, what exactly is this retro-virus going to consist of?
DanTrek: An invasive Command-pathway re-sequencing, similar to that of the virus itself, but this time in our favor. It also going to contain several of the most powerful decryption sequences we have; those are to break through the security lock-outs.
Traks: Won't the virus fight back?
DanTrek: It won't have time to. By the time it realizes something's wrong, the retro-virus will already dominate the Computer. It wont anything to fight back with.
Traks: Ingenious.
DanTrek: From a Vulcan, I'll take that as high praise....Here we are.
::DanTrek opened the hatch and stepped out into the Shuttlebay. Those present were already in EVA suits, and Savot was in a Thruster suit::
DanTrek: Cautious arent you, Captain.
Smith: Have to be, Commander.
DanTrek: Very true. Come, Traks.
::DanTrek and Traks approached the shuttlebay. With a hope-this-works mentality, DanTrek attempted to open the shuttle hatch. Fortunately, the shuttle complied::
DanTrek: So far so good.
::They stepped aboard. Everything seemed to be in order. DanTrek closed the hatch::
DanTrek: =/\= DanTrek to Smith. I'm closing the hatch just in case. I'll keep an open comm =/\=
Smith: =/\= Understood Commander =/\=
::DanTrek and Traks worked quickly. Under any purpose, this would have been the most dangerous virus DanTrek had even known, meaning that it had a good chance of beating the Computer. They programmed in sequence after sequence, each more invasive than the previous one. After an hour, they were done::
DanTrek: =/\= We're ready, Captain =/\=
Smith: =/\= Understood. Good luck =/\=
DanTrek: Get ready to download the virus as soon as the Computer link-up is active. We can't let the ship contaminate the shuttle.
Traks: Understood. Preparing the retro-virus.
DanTrek: Initiating Link-up.
Traks: Downloading...Download in progress.
DanTrek: Computer purge is in progress =/\= Its working, Captain. We're getting our Computer back =/\=

Kivan was also happy that they re-gaining control of the computer, but he was worried about the 2 Romulan Warbirds which were approaching. He hoped that they wouldn't cause much trouble, because he didn't really think it was a good idea for the El-Salvador to take on 2 of the damned things.

Steve was happy that they were finally getting control of the El Sal back. Although, the two warbirds still posed a big problem.
He turned on the comms unit in his suit. =/\= Commander Savot, as everything seems to be going well down here, I am going to head back to the Bridge so I can sort out whats going on with these warbirds when we get full control. Let me know as soon as everything is back to normal. =/\=
With that, Steve left and headed for the Bridge.

Steve smiled. He was happy that the silence had been broken.
"To be perfectly honest, I dont know." Steve replied, at a loss. "They may be here to fight, they may be here to help, as funny as that may sound. Either way, we wont know until we get the computer back online and we are on the Bridge." He added, hoping that Remeti would understand.
