OFF: Its about time the new mission started, so here we go. This takes place after the holodeck thread, so for now, it can continue!
ON:
Only an hour after Steve had departed from Rem, he was still sitting in his quarters. He still had a big smile on his face. Now that he and Rem we engaged, he felt that he was the happiest person alive. That feeling was a bit shortlived, because a few seconds later, his data terminal started beeping.
Steve got up from his chair and walked over to his desk. It was a priority 1 video message. He tapped in his access codes and viewed the message. It was his new orders. When the message stopped, he viewed it again to make sure that he understood what he was watching.
The situation looked grim, but Steve was confident in himself, his crew and his ship. He tapped his commbadge:
=/\= Captain Smith to all senior officers. I will be holding a meeting in the briefing lounge in 10 minutes. Smith out. =/\=
Steve then sat back....thinking in advance what to do.

Savot, already at his bridge console that next morning, had but to wait for the others to arrive for the briefing. Until then he would continue to monitor his console and continue daily duties.
For now, the El Salvador was still docked at Starbase Assailant. It would be illogical to assume that a briefing meant they should immediately disembark from the station, after all the mission could include the transport of supplies or personnel, therefore Savot held off on the order to disengage the docking umbillicals and have the helm take her out. That would wait until the exact specifications of the mission were known, at least as well as they could be anyway.
Savot tapped away at his console, issuing final recall orders for the few remaining crewmen over at the station. For now, the Engineering post was unchiefed, but perhaps Kivan could take up the slack once more, either alone or with the help of Savot himself, or another of the senior officers. Zimmerman could be of use in that area with his scientific talents, and Deis Irae's constant expansion of her duty-based comfort zone made her an ever-more-valuable asset to the ship.
All these thoughts soared in and out of Savot's thought processes as easily as data through a computer, and he enjoyed the relaxing, controlled process for the next few minutes awaiting the arrival of the others...

:: Deis walks into the briefing room, resplendant in her dark red collar and tightly coiled hair, a workpadd under her arm. Shes a diminuative sight, slim and short to be honest. But she carries a presence with her these days that is hard to dismiss as diminuative. The only thing she seems to lack is that full gold third pip. The rank will come in time but its her current goal. She wants to be a full Commander so badly that its just bugging her.::
::Anyway...she heads into the room and sees that Savot is already there. She smiles his way and then takes her usual seat. Seeing the Captain hasnt made it yet she gets back up and goes to look at what Savot is working on at the console.::
::Savot turns around after a moment and looks at her, explaining what hes doing. He does that now as shes walked up behind him and then started asking so many questions that he got the hint without trying. This they converse about idly until others arrive::

Remeti walked in and nodded a hello to Savot and Cmdr. She was smiling.
"Hello. Any word on what Ste- err the Captain wants us for?" she asked sitting down.

Kivan made his way towards the briefing lounge, wondering why the Captain wanted to see the senior officers.
He entered the room, and said 'hi' to everyone.
"Hi, have any of you got any idea why the Captain wants to see us?" Kivan addressed them all.

Savot and Deis had entered the conference room to continue their discussion, a few minutes later Remeti Lucas entered.
"Hello. Any word on what Ste- err the Captain wants us for?" she asked sitting down.
"Greetings, Lieutenant Lucas. I bel...", just as Savot began to speak, Lieutenant Kivan entered as well.
"Hi, have any of you got any idea why the Captain wants to see us?" Kivan addressed them all.
Savot turned to Kivan. "Hello, Lieutenant, you arrived at an opportune moment, as Ms. Lucas just presented us with the same inquiry. I am not certain as to the details, but it is logical to surmise that we have received new mission orders, now that we are fully spaceworthy once more. However, I have no knowledge as to what that mission may be. Starfleet is certainly...anxious to place us back on duty as quickly as possible, given our somewhat lengthy docking period. As for the specifics, we shall have to wait for Captain Smith to arrive."
The others nodded here and there and proceeded to wait for the Captain to arrive.

When it got to the time for the meeting, Steve left his quarters and headed towards the briefing lounge.
He entered to see Savot, Kivan, Deis and Remeti. As he sat down, he noticed that Mr Zimmerman wasnt here.
"I'll wait for Mr Zimmerman before I start the actual meeting." Steve said, firmly.
"But first, Mr Savot, I would like to thank you on sorting out getting the ship back in order. I know we have been understaffed since we got back, but you more than made up for it. Thank you again." Steve said to Savot, smiling.

After Commander Savot had finished telling them all that they would probably get a new mission, Kivan began wondering what their new mission could be. He was still thinking about it when Captain Steven Smith arrived.
"I'll wait for Mr Zimmerman before I start the actual meeting." Steve said, firmly.
* That's fair * Kivan thought to himself. * There's no point in telling us about the mission without all of the senior officers here. *
"But first, Mr Savot, I would like to thank you on sorting out getting the ship back in order. I know we have been understaffed since we got back, but you more than made up for it. Thank you again." Steve said to Savot, smiling.
Just then Lt. Zimmerman walked in.
"Sorry I'm slightly late, Sir."
"No problem, Lieutenant. Right then, now we are all here, this is the mission we have..."

Kevin: "Sorry I'm late, sir. I was working on an experiment with nano probes in a quantum torpedo. They could increase homing-device capabilities."
(OFF: My internet is messed up badly, so I might not be able to post as much as I'd like to. Just a heads up incase something goes wrong with my service again.)

OFF: Ok. Come back when/if you can.
ON: "Right. Now thats all of us." Steve said out loud. He picked up a padd, and looked at it briefly.
"I have called you here, because we have recieved our new orders. Starfleet Command have picked up a repeating distress call from a freighter in the Dantara system. We have been asked to investigate at best possible speed." Steve said, very briefly.

Savot raised an eyebrow at the Captain's compliment, "Thank you, Captain. Your words are most kind. It is my pleasure to aid the ship in whatever manner I am capable." He left it at that and turned to see Zimmerman walk in, offering an apology for his late arrival.
**************************
The Captain then laid the basic mission specs out for them short and sweet, "I have called you here, because we have recieved our new orders. Starfleet Command have picked up a repeating distress call from a freighter in the Dantara system. We have been asked to investigate at best possible speed."
Deis Irae was the first to pipe up, "D' we know what the source o' the distress is?"
Savot also presented a question of his own, "And the crew compliment of the freighter?"

Steve turned to face his XO. "From the information that I have been given, its seems that the freighter came under weapons fire from an unknown source. They say they couldnt see who or what it was." Steve replied, a bit grim.
He then turned to Savot. "The crew compliment is fourty-five."

"Yeah, if we find out the type of weaponery used, then we might be able to track it down to the species who used it, possibly even the ship, couldn't we?" Kivan added.

Savot sat silently, a thoughtful, processing look upon his vulcan features. No doubt running through a series of statistical scenarios on which to base a hypothesis as to the cause of the distress.
Deis Irae on the other hand, stayed in the here and now and suggested action. "Captain, w' the little information we got at the moment, seems t' me the best course is to jaunt on out there and have a gander at the freighter's last known coordinates."
Savot, whilst hypothesizing, heard the First Officer's comment and nodded slightly. "I concur, there is too little data to formulate a strategy at this point. I would wager that further discussion of the problem would only drain valuable time."
Deis nodded firmly to Savot then turned back to Steven, "Aye, time the crew o' that wounded bird might not have much of."
Savot and Deis both watched the Captain, thoughtfully taking in the suggestions, perhaps awaiting further input from the other officers present.

"We dont know. It was a distress call, not an inventory call." He said, with just a touch of sarcasm in hos voice.
"I agree, we need to get under way as soon as possible." He said in answer to both his FO and Savot. He stood up and went to stand behind Rem's chair. He placed his hands lightly on her shoulders.
"I.....sorry. WE have an announcement to make."

Steve looked down, and smiled slightly. "Thanks." He said softly to her half sarcastically.
He looked up and around the room, and placed a hand on Remeti's hand. Right now, he was so nervous, he duidnt actually know how to say what he was going to say.
"Ok.....I would like to announce that me and the lovely Ms Lucas here are engaged to be married." He finally said with a wide smile on his face. He knew he could have said that better, but he was glad that he actually managed to say anything at all.

Savot nodded where he sat, to both Captain Smith and Remeti Lucas. "Indeed, congratulations Captain, Ms. Lucas." He then stood up from the conference table. "Permission to return to my bridge station and prepare the ship for departure Captain?"
Steven nodded to Savot, who left the conference room with the whoosh of doors. Steven wasn't offended by what some might consider a gruff exit; he knew that was just Savot's way. There was nothing else to say except congratulations, which he said, and he knew Savot could never extend himself to an emotional situation when there was work to be done and lives at stake.
****************************
Having extended his positive thoughts about the marriage, Savot sat back at his Ops station, sending the final confirmations through to the Starbase, and disengaged the umbillicals. Signalling the control tower, he requested permission to embark which was quickly received, and Savot nodded to the acting ensign currently holding the helm, who began to back the ship out of dock.
Just as the El Sal cleared the final segments of the masterful Federation construction Assailant, the other crew members filtered out of the conference room as well, presumably having given their congratulations in far more detail than the stoic Vulcan, though he shared their sentiments as fully as any.

Remeti wasn't offended by Savot's terse response. After all, she had been somewhat raised by a Vulcan. Albiet an odd one. She glanced up at Steve.
"He's right, and I might want to do the same, sir." she said.
She fought a grin at Steve's blinking of her calling him sir. That he'd have to get used to. And she'd have to get used to calling him Steve off duty.

OFF: Backposting Savot's post slightly
ON:
Steve look down at Rem and narrowed his eyes. He looked at her for a second, wondering if he would be able to get used to hearing his future wife calling him 'sir'.
"I guess you are right." He said, smiling. He looked back up again. "Ok, everyone, thats draws this meeting to a close. Once we learn of some more information, dont be surprised if I call you to another meeting. For now, dismissed." He added.
Steve however stayed where he was, and looked out of the view port, and then back to Rem, without saying another word, he just smiled at her.

Kevin returned to Science Lab One to continue his experimental nanotechnology project. After he was finished, he contacted Lt. Lucas.
Kevin: =^= Zimmerman to Lt. Lucas.=^=
Remeti =^= Lucas here. What's up?=^=
Kevin =^= I've been working on nano- well, you heard of my idea at the conference.=^=
Remeti =^= The one about the torpedo homing-devices?=^=
Kevin = ^= Yes. Do you mind if I install them in a quantum torpedo? It could be useful where we're going."
<Tag: Remeti>
OFF: Sorry this is rushed, but I have a huge essay due soon and I can't miss it.
