*Parsons leaves the Bridge and turns over the tactical station to Nokomis. Deis sits impatiently waiting for us to get into orbit range. In this impatience she stands up and begins pacing on the bridge, every now and then checking Savots monitor at her seat. Nokomis looks over at her and speaks out suddenly* Captain. Are you allright?
*Deis turns her greenygreyish eyes over to the Lt Junior and gives a small smile, thinking her accent is interesting...she cant quite place it at the moment* Aye. I be arrigh Lt. Just impatient. Sav...Th Commander is nae gettin any stronger th longer this takes. I be worried bout him. *the captain straightens a bit and clears her throat. Shes about to say something else to the tactical trainee when Ensign Gabbrile turns and says* Captain. Were within orbit range....*pausing to slip us into a good orbit, while recieving coordinates to the spaceport* 5 minutes Captain and we will be in geosynchronous orbit with the spaceport. Were being hailed by the Embassy.
*Deis nods to her and says* Onscreen.
*Commander Hodges reappears on the large commscreen as orbit is achieved* Captain Irae. Youve been cleared to bring Commander Savot to the surface. Turns out Commander Savot's family is rather well known. His mother is a healer of some renown so were in luck. She will be meeting you and your medical team at the shuttleport in an hour and a half. All arrangements have been made. Thank ye Commander fer th speed. We'll be on our way down as soon as i 'ave him mobile. El Salvador out. *She says that and then has to boggle for a moment. Holy God shes taking Savot down to his famous healer mother. She dosent know wether shes intensly worried and nervous, or excited and nervous, but she IS nervous. She wonders why there was no mention of his Father...shes sure she will find out. She looks to the Ensign Gab and the girl is already nodding* Aye Captain, geosynchronous orbit...and weve recieved confirmation codes to land. *She looks then to Nokomis* Inform shuttlebay. Tell em t ready th Mini-sal fer departure. 1 hour. Zimmerman ye 'ave th bridge. *giving him a glance of sympathy...she knows he hates being in temporary command but for now theres little choice. At least its just maintaining orbit and watching over the repair work. As she heads out of the bridge and into the nearest turbolift she touches her commbadge and says* =/\=Irae t' Parsons. Please continue t supervise th ongoin repairwork. Weve reached Vulcan orbit an are bout t head on down wi Commander Savot. He needs vulcan medical facilities. I will remain in constant comm contact incase anythin 'appens. An please 'ave Mr. Cisco begin rounds iffen hes settled in. Thar be many o th crew wot need his speciality right now. =/\=
*then she realizes the turbolift isnt moving and nearly shouts at the thing* Sick bay...*leaving off the mental "stupid" attached to that...like the things supposed to be a mind reader*
*The hiss of the doors almost dont open fast enough for her when she walks into sickbay. She goes first to Savots biobed and looks down on him, murmuring* Dinnae worry Savot...weve got ye home. *then she turns around to everyone thats eyeing her now in sickbay, two nurses running a test on the encapsulated form of the vulcan* Arrigh ladies an gents. Lets prep him fer th shuttle.
*One of the monitoring nurses looks to her with faint alarm* Captain...Doctor. Hes barely stable...moving him could make things worse.
Then we will 'ave t make sure tha it dosent. He needs Vulcan medicine Irene. *all of her worry and tangled emotions going into this last sentence to her...she cant heal him. Not without vulcan blood and specialties. The nurse nods and then begins flipping switches on the biobed as the other woman places a larger monitor over the arch of the bed. If anything major changes we will all know it. Deis herself takes a large specialized medbag she put together. Emergency hypos, cardiac stimulants. Anything to keep him alive til hes in the proper hands. It takes every bit of 45 minutes just to get the bed self contained and mobile enough to work as a massive gravstretcher and stasischamber at once. Then the medical team begins its ponderous trip to the turbolift and then shuttlebay...no possibility of beaming down. The patient isnt stable enough for that*

"I'm.. well..." but Parson could not finish what he was trying to say as he was interupted by the Captain asking him to continue the supervision of repairs being made to the ship.
Cisco also overheard the Commander Savot was going to be taken down to the planet surface for medical treatment, and that Cisco was to begin his rounds.
"I think we should carry on this conversation another time Lt, as we both have other pressing concerns. I expect to hear from you shortly with a convenient time for us meeting."
Lt Parsons looked like he was going to object, but seemed to think better of it.
"Indeed, Mr Parker, I will."
They both exited Ciscos quarters and went their separate ways. Cisco had an idea where the turbolift was, he wanted to get to the Captain and offer his services to hear and commander savot. The only thing in his way was getting to them.
"Computer locate Captain Irae and Commander Savot"
"Captain Irae and Commander Savot are in the ShuttleBay"
=^= Cisco to Irae."Please do not go anywhere, I am on my way to your location, in my professional opinon you need me. And no arguments, please"
"Acknowledged, take Turbolift 3 to the shuttlebay" Irae out =^=
Cisco had his Medi-Bag swung over his shoulder, he had forgotten how heavy it was, it had been a short while since he had actually practiced medicine but was fully up-to-date with all Medical Practices and Standards, and fully versed on Command Savot and Captain Irae's conditons both mental and physical.
Cisco finally made it to the shuttle bay after getting a little lost.
"Excuse me Captain, I went left instead of right... a mistake I shant make again" he said smiling, noticing the slight smirk on Deis' face.
"Welcome Mr Parker, this was not how I intended us meeting or what I had planned to slowly integrate you into the crew" Deis said now showing a full smile.
"Well I do like to throw myself in at the deep end, and please call me Cisco. Im sure you are aware of my credentials in Medicine, but I want to stress that I am here for YOU as much as I am here for Mr Savot."

*As she begins moving everyone to the shuttle bay Deis smiles a bit and then taps her commbadge back to Nokomis* Thank ye but nae Lt. Im th helmsman on th Minisal.
"Acknowledged, take Turbolift 3 to the shuttlebay" Irae out =^=
*Deis is rather suprised by this counselors forcefulness but she cannot dissagree with his summation. She does need him along. Once her convoy of biobed and nurses reach the Shuttlebay she looks around to see if the Counselor has made it yet. Seeing that he hasnt she begins getting the biobed trucked into the open doors of the Argo, Mini-Sal. A shuttle that she stole personally from that group of cardassians intent upon taking the lot of them. Normally she would be looking foreward to piloting the Mini-sal herself and enjoying it but now the shuttle is merely a means to an end. Shes glad for its speed though. As the biobed is floated inside the Minisal a few of the shuttle guys begin clamping the thing down. She looks over the vitals again and nods, its not as bad as it could be. She turns away from the coffinlike portable biobed hearing the shuttle bay halldoors hissing open*
*Deis nods and then motions with slight flourish to the open port on the Minisal* In ye go then, Sir. I appreciate yer wish t accompany us. Mr. Savot, cannae at th moment be counseled. But i sure can. *She leads the man inside the Minisal and then takes the pilots position. Cisco sits down in the nav position and Deis begins protocol of getting this bad boy cranked up. She looks back to the nurses Irene and Baya and says* Vitals?
*The chief nurse Irene says* Doing well Captain...slight drop in blood pressure. Could be the movement. We need to get him down there quickly.
Understood *Deis says as though she didnt have a worry in the world...its the effect of having a Counselor looking at her. Shes businesslike and quick, hands on the Minisals console though He has to know how worried she is. She dosent let it get in her way though. Within 15 minutes of their arrival the Minisal is prepped and the shuttlebay is cleared. Deis hadnt taken the time to look down at the planet Vulcan before this point, so when the shuttle bay doors open and the forcefield drops, she allows herself to feel that awe...peering down at an alien world. This particular alien world.* Hold tight ladies an gent...
*then the Minisal powers up and they lift, shuttling out of the opening into the blank space in between us and Vulcan*

Planet Vulcan, Academy Quarter of Ta'Vistar City, Primary Medical Facility:
*********************************
Sitting at a desk amidst precisely crafted stone walls dating back millenia to the days of Vulcan violence sits an aged Vulcan female working at a computer workstation, Vulcan runes decorating the surface of the console. Today, within these walls that once housed the passion of scores of troops eager to spill blood with their tempered steel, doctors and healers work tirelessly to fortify the wounds of their patients and seal their threatened lifeblood within their bodies.
One such mercy-minded individual is this woman, T'Leshka, a practitioner of both traditional medical technique and the ancient healing rituals of the Vulcan priestesses. Her desk was flawlessly organized, reports placed and stacked in order of priority and accessibility to allow for the most efficient work area possible. As the woman of 217 standard Terran years reviewed one such report through eyes encircled by a variety of wrinkles as marks of earned wisdom and experience, her console gave the soft bleep of an incoming message, much lower than the typical Starfleet chime as Vulcan hearing even at such and advanced age was still extremely good.
T'Leshka tapped the console open the channel, =^=T'Leshka.=^=, giving all the response that was needed for whoever would be on the other end, if she was who they sought, they now knew that, and if not, they knew that as well.
=^=Doctor T'Leshka. This is Lieutenant Commander Hodges at the Federation Embassy. I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news regarding your son, Commander Savot. He's alive, but has been critically wounded in the line of duty and requires immediately tranfusion in order to complete the necessary surgical procedures. His vessel is approaching the system and should be here in approximately 37 minutes. I apologize for not notifying you earlier but it took us some time to run you down in the system. I understand you have a daughter as well, would you like us to contact her for you ma'am?=^=, came the notification from the embassy, Hodges' remarks those of a man attempting to use the Vulcan simplicity of giving only the necessary information, but whose human emotions and ingrained Starfleet courtesy colored his statements.
With no facial alteration in the slightest besides a small blink of her eyelids, T'Leshka replied, =^= Unnecessary, Commander. I will do so myself. I will be present at the port at the appointed time.=^=
Hodges' voice rang out through the room a final time, =^= Understood ma'am. If you have any further need of us please feel free to contact me directly. Ah, also,... I grieve with thee. =^= Hodges hesitated, thinking perhaps it would be presumptuous to offer support as a complete outsider, but gave the comment regardless.
The vulcan woman raised an eyebrow slightly though there was no one there to witness her minimal sign of surprise and respect for the young man's manners, =^=Appreciated, Commander, though premature. My son shant give himself up easily. T'Leshka out.=^= Tapping the channel closed she instantly called up the frequency of another comm-station on the planet, this one far from the city of Ta'Vistar, amidst the temples of the Vulcan priestesses and priests of the Kolinahr discipline, set in the Kolinahru Monastery on Mount Kolinahr on the highest peak of the red-rocked Mountains of Gol...
***********************************
Kneeling before an altar in a dimly lit alcove, also carved of thick stone likely forged of billions of desert sand particles compressed over thousands of years, robed in hues of pale orange shawled in a deep rust shade, a thin female figure with her head bowed in deep meditation was lifted from her reverie by a deep, rich chime from the output valve of a massive stone organ tube whose mouthpiece resided in the entrance of the monastery.
Each organ led to a room within the temple and such was the method in which the novitiates were summoned, as all technology was forbidden within the Monastery. Quill ink pens and firelight was used throughout the temple, and while guests were allowed to visit and reside within the Monastery on retreat, both Vulcan and off-world guests, they were required to leave any vehicles stowed at a post a mile from the facility, and were made to leave personal items, such as PADDs and even sonic shavers, at the receiving desk of what served as the temple's lobby area.
Rising from her meditations, the young looking female bowed her exit to the altar before her, and walked with hands clasped together and enshrouded in the sleeves of her wispy robes. Moving with purpose as no summons was ever without importance, she reached the entrance quickly and was greeted by the attendant, "Novitiate Saevalis, your presence is required at your family's estate regarding your brother's health. This representative from the Federation embassy will see to your transportation." Not needing to gesture to the female Lieutenant obviously clad in a Starfleet uniform, the attendant returned to his work, leaving Saevalis to nod to the Lieutenant in polite greeting while already proceeding toward the exit of the Monastery to begin the journey home...

Shuttle Port: Ta'Vistar City, Tat'Sahr Province
Having arrived 13 minutes 20 seconds earlier, T'Leshka waited patiently, standing statue-still with her hands clasped in front of her hanging at her waist. As she stood, the port's hangar doors then opened, the bright sun of the outside adding only slightly to the artificial lighting within the bay as the landing lights flickered on in sequence to be used as a final visual confirmation by a pilot though with modern technology this was hardly a necessity. T'Leshka waited inside the observation booth as the Argo-model shuttlecraft made its final touchdown with a hiss of its landing thrusters.
As she stepped out of the booth into the bay, the rear hatch of the shuttle was already dropping to allow the mobile bio-bed to be guided out on its anti-grav platform. The mother's eyes took in her son's form for the first time in over ten years, even before his 7-year disappearance. Though no outward sign betrayed her inner responses, she winced within herself at seeing Savot like this. Having already lost her husband, his father, T'Leshka did not revel the thought of losing him as well, though what she had told the Starfleet man had been true, she had tremendous faith in her son's strength of person, in every aspect.
Moving immediately to observe the readouts on the monitoring equipment, she gave no words of greeting other than, "Come, we must go to the medical facility with haste", leaving pleasantries and any other commentary for when the immediate situation had been dealt with to her satisfaction...

~On Vulcan~
*Deis had approached with her "team", one hand on the biobed, helping to guide it smoothly outside the Minisal. She is immediatly greeted outside by the Vulcan woman she knows to be Savots mother. Shes not quite sure what she had expected...but shes reminded that the woman IS vulcan. That makes it slightly easier. The older face dosent show any shock, worry, anything. Its that oddly serene Vulcan face that shes gotten used to seeing in her first officer. Comforting in an...emotionless sorta way. She dosent say anything when the woman approaches to look down at her son in the biobed. Shes used to introducing herself no matter the situation but it only makes sense to her to wait now. This is too important. So she follows, her nurses following at either side of the biobed with Deis leading at its front right. The medical facility isnt far...which is only logical as Deis thinks about it...its closer to where wounded persons would be comming in. Thats when the fullness of it strikes her...these people. Their entire lives are based upon whats most logical.*
*No words pass the grouping and they move with purpose rather than solemnity. Its odd but she understands it. Theres nothing to be solemn about...yet. And there will not be if these women can help it. Deis tries to adopt that poise herself, letting her worry ease somewhat as she soaks in this ambiance...its empathy without being actually empathic. The way across the street is quickly done, the hovering biobed moving swifter with the increased pace of walking. The stone buildings seem incongruous to her until she passes into one and sees that only the outside of it is stone. Camoflage as it were. As we pass through the facility she sees some things she dosent recognize, med tech wise. but dosent bother to ask. Time will come for that later. She and her team are lead into a largeish room with a higher ceiling then most, lights embedded in it to brighten the room to an unshadowed light of day. Instruments everywhere. The vulcan healer points out where she can lower Savots biobed, assumedly to transfer him to a different one. Or perhaps not, shes not sure, she for now just does as shes told...or not told as the case may be*
*Indeed the biobed has a spot all to itself as this room had already been prepped for this specific situation once the details of the report came through. The usual mobile bed had been removed and in its place would lie the mobile bed from the El Salvador. As it settled into place, med techs came in and methodically attached cables extruding from an adapter unit in the wall into the sides of the biobed. As this went on, the readouts of Savot's status began to appear on the various screens throughout the room as the biobed was incorporated into the room's machinery. T'Leshka allows the technicians to perform this without observation, as they are trusted to do their jobs correctly, and takes the time to observe the readouts carefully one by one to grasp the full situation before her. As the aged vulcan woman lifts her arms to be garbed in surgical gear, she speaks aloud though her face remains on the various screens, she knows those she speaks to will know she refers to them.* "The bare carts are available for you to set out your instruments. A suitable donor is on the way for transfusion and replication. Until her arrival we will stabilize the patient. Which among you conducted the initial surgery? I require as much detail as possible regarding everything from the moment of the incident up to the shuttle landing."
*Deis waited in silence while the biobed was hooked up to the surrounding room. She was tense at first but it melts away as she watches the older woman. You can tell a true professional by their movements and the vulcan womans movements were precice, exact, and reserved. She knew what she was doing and was assured of doing it. When the woman speaks up Deis steps foreward and says* I was attendin surgeon. *thinking back and then launching into a very to the point explanation of what happened* We 'ad just finished th end negotiations of a mission tha caused more'n half me crew t go mad temporarily. Savot included. Th problem had been thought t be ended but th effects lasted longer than any o us realized. Savot was attacked by one of me crew...with a klingon axe. Th weapon struck him in th left shoulderblade. Penetrated bone, musculature, an then his lung. A couple crewmen found 'im and i joined them in sickbay immediatly. I had already begun when we realized tha there be nae enough blood t finish, we started fer Vulcan then. I entered th wound an cauterized all bleedin veins an arteries though he lost much blood. I sutured th wound in th lung first an then reinflated it. Th bone an flesh i couldnae knit wi'out blood. I closed up an cleaned up as much as could be dun. Vitals 'ave been steady though slightly declinin.
*T'Leshka listens unmoving, not even looking at the female speaker at the beginning as that has no boosting effect on her hearing or understanding of the words. However, at the comment of her son being driven to madness she does turn to regard the female... a Starfleet Captain it would seem, interesting that it was she performing the medical procedure if the uniform spoke truly, but that mattered not at the moment. As the woman's face looks at the Irish woman, her left eyebrow is raised in extreme curiosity regarding the statement of her son's madness. However, she did not interrupt, and continued listening until the Captain ceased her words. T'Leshka then nods and gestures to one of the bare-surfaced mobile carts within the room.* Arrange your instruments as you desire, your skill thus far proves sufficient to assist me in the remainder of the techniques. If you require additional equipment, request it of the staff. I will begin a feed of anti-infection drugs into the system that are designed for ideal interaction with a vulcan's copper blood base. *The woman is not at all stoic when discussion is required, and though she needn't explain her actions to ensure their effectiveness a doctoral team must be fully apprised of every member's actions so they have a full understanding of the medical situation at any moment. Looking up over the door at the chronometer, she speaks again as she fills and administers with the traditional hiss a hypospray of the appropriate drugs.* The donor will arrive in 7.26 minutes. The additional bed required for her will be brought momentarily.
*Deis is resolves to explain to the woman about the madness...about Savots talking to someone that was not there. The mission wasnt classified after all. And his mother deserves to know what happened. She pays close attention to every word she speaks though and nods, dragging up her largeish black case. She sets the thing on hover and then begins laying out her own instruments. backup vials of hypo medications, scanners, surgical instruments by the handful her own nurses gowning and gloving her up. Shes rather honored to be asked to assist but she dosent show it. Gratitude can come later. Once shes stepped up to the table she looks down at Savot, at the ready, already taking scans and masking her own emotion for him. A gesture of respect for he and his mother*
*As the two doctors direct their focus on their patient, the med techs do indeed deliver the additional mobile bio-bed into the room and attach it in preparation for its coming occupant. Monitoring her son and administering more drugs as she observed the successful integration of the previous doses into the bloodstream, T'Leshka closes her eyes briefly and straightens her back, and as she reopens them she speaks to the Starfleet Captain as her old body flows around to the newly installed bed with a grace that belies her age.* The donor has arrived. We must prepare for replication before initiating the transfusion protocols. *Before anyone has time to put voice to their curiousity as to how she knows the whereabouts of the donor, a young vulcan female enters the room, her long hair done up in rising, intertwined braids to keep it out of the way, garbed now in a simple sleeveless shirt of burnt orange color and deep brown pants of equal pragmatism. The face upon the young woman, however, leans more towards the degree of openness upon Savot's usual countenance rather than the wise directness of their mother, though not to Savot's full extent, having been sequestered in the Kolinahr Monastery for over a decade at this point. As she enters and immediately heads to lay upon the bed, she bows her head in greeting to the female who appears to be assisting her mother and greets her in a soft, but calculated voice.* I am Saevalis, sister of Savot. You will find my blood suitable for the task at hand.
Off: Everyone onship. post as you would. You shall be contacted very soon with action. Had to get part of this monster surgery jointpost out to get it started beforehand though.

OFF: Story Recap for Luke and soon Mally our new soon to be CMO. And anybody else that needs it.
~Basically its like this. At the end of the last joint mission a few people were still insane. Commander Savot got chopped in the back with a klingon axe of some sort and almost died. I, the Cappy, was once our CMO...i did surgery, couldnt finish. We had to go to Vulcan for a resupply of blood and to get a good vulcan healer to finish healing the poor guy. That is where we stand at the moment. Deis and Counselor Cisco are on the planets surface with a very unconsious Savot. Parsons, Zimmerman, Nokomis, are onboard overseeing continuing repairwork. New Guys feel free to have yourselves dropped off at the El Salvador in orbit around Vulcan. Have another ship bring you here and we will work you into the mission. There is more to come so you wont sit on the ship long. Let me welcome our new peoples, i hope you enjoy serving the El Salvador. Weve needed a new Doc and an Engineer for quite a while now. Just report in for duty at one of the El Sal entry ports, shuttle bay, whatever.~
and On again.

Kevin took the command chair without complaint, though he wasn't looking forward to it at all. He checked the El Salv's orbit, made sure the Mini-Sal made the trip down to Vulcan safely, and waited anxiously, hoping nothing important would happen while Captain Irae was not on board. Unfortunately, something did. "Sir, we've got an incomming message." Kevin bit his lip nervously. "Put it on the main viewer," he ordered. "Aye, sir." A Lt. Commander appeared inside what looked to be a Starfleet shuttlecraft. "Erm- Hello," said Kevin. "I am Lt. Commander Zimmerman, temporarily in charge of the USS El Salvador. The Captain and First Officer are currently engaged in a very serious situation, but..." he faltered for a moment, "... I believe I could take care of anything you need." (Luke) Kevin sighed with relief when he heard it was only their new CEO. All sorts of wild ideas had been bouncing around in his head. "Hold on... okay, please dock in Shuttlebay Two. I'll have someone greet you there, and I'll inform you on the current situation if you'd like to come up to the Bridge." (Luke) OFF: Hey, Luke! Haven't seen you for a while. I didn't know how you'd be arriving (where you were coming from), but I assumed it'd be by shuttlecraft. CMO Mally, you could either post your arrival in the same shuttlecraft as Luke's, if that's okay with him, or bring in your own shuttlecraft. Welcome to both of you.

Post by malley on Nov 22, 2005 20:11:08 GMT
EDIT: This post has been re-written to fit in with the above storylineMalley recieved his orders while on leave at Jupiter Station and was fortunate enough to catch the Vulcan shuttle T'sunkari enroute from Earth back to Vulcan. The ship arrived at Jupiter Station in a timely fashion and was instantly back on it's way to Vulcan. His new assignment came quite out of the blue, and he did not have time to prepare and all information was to be provided to him, upon arrival. The ship arrived in orbit of Vulcan, and Malley thought it appropriate to request of the Vulcan Captain to permit him to transport to the current location of Cmdr Savot. The captain, a ranking member of the Vulcan High Command, provided the necessary authorization to transport him. He was very anxious to meet his Captain, and wondered how best to address her; should he call her captain or doctor? Eight seconds later, he materialised at the medical facility. Two Vulcans approached him, and he informed them that he was the El Salvadore's new CMO. They in turn, informed him that Cmdr. Savot was in surgery, that his Captain was assisting, and that she had left a message for him: Irae: Hello Doctor, and Doctor Irae will be fine under these circumstances. As you have been informed, I am currently assisting in Cmdr. Savot's surgery. When that is completed, I will contact you. The outcome, and other notation, regarding the surgery, will be provided to you from the Vulcan Medical Directorate. In the meantime, transport up to the El Salvadore, I expect you'll want to get started sorting out your new sickbay.
Malley surmised, that due to the El Salvadore's proximity to Vulcan, the Captain had elected to have the Vulcans "take care of their own." He was indeed eager to get started. Following the Captain's queue, Malley immediately went about locating sickbay. It was fortunate that he was transported to the ship via Transporter Room Three, which happened to be on the same deck as Sickbay was located. He took the time to go about familiarising himself with the layout: He was pleased with the layout overall, but made a note to himself to have engineering remove another section of the wall between his office, and the research labs. And speaking of Engineering, he thought, it is time to go over the Medical Roster to start medical evaluation of the crew. The most obvious appointment, he thought - kill two birds with one stone, was Cmdr. Dunsmore the new Chief Engineer. He made a log entry regarding Dunsmore's appointment. So he proceeded through the roster, along with his trusty cup of coffee, and noted all of the personelle who were due for their physicals. After almost two hours of research, he put his fourth cup down. He was finished with the crew, and now onto his Conflict of Interest: Starfleet protocol forbade it's physicians to provide for their own medical care. With this in mind, Malley decided to ask Captain Irae to undertake the examination aspect of his medical care. He would ask his head nurse to cover the treatment. Where the hell was his head nurse, anyway? There is no real "priority" system for crew evaluations, although senior staff should be done as quickly as possible. Cpt Irae was busy in surgery, with Cmdr Savot as the patient no less. The new CMO was busy going over his forthcoming duty schedule, and the engineer had just arrived shortly before him. With this in mind, he called in the next on his list: Malley: Chief Medical Officer to Lt. Nokomis... Nokomis: Yes, doctor? Malley: Please report to Sickbay, during shift three for your physical. Having finished the roster, and queing up his future patients, he thought he'd go and check in on the Chief Engineer. EDIT: This post has combined three into one.

Luke entered his quarters and looked around, adequate, but bare. The view from the two portholes was extraordinary, with Vulcan's striking dim ornage landscape clearly visible. Luke laid down the three cases he was cradling, and began to unpack. After 25 minutes, Luke's unpacking and placement was complete. The room felt more like home. Luke undressed and showered, glad he had preorded a water shower instead of a sonic shower before he boarded. He couldn't stand sonic showers, as he didn't feel refreshed as he exited one. After wrapping himself in a towel, he went back into the living space. A young female ensign looked up from the replicator. her face immediately turned crimson. "Oh," she spluttered. "I... I... er.... I" "It's okay," Luke said smiling. "What is it you were doing exactly?" "I'm sorry sir," she said, getting up. "I thought you were in Engineering". Luke extended his hand. "Luke Dunsmore," he said. She extended her hand. "Ensign Laura Smith". She began to satre at his muscular frame. She didn't seem to realise what she was doing. "Would you like to take a picture?" lUKE ASKED. "iT'LL PROBABLY LAST LONGER". sHE IMMEDIATLEY DIED ON THE SPOT. "i'M SORRY SIR," she said immediately. She began to walk out and Luke tipped his head back in laughter. "It's okay Ensign," he said, laughing and walking over to his dresser.
Off- I was looking for a romantic involvement for my character. Anyone interested?

Kevin fidgeted in the command chair. His science department was finished with all their repairs, and all the other departments were coming along nicely. Kevin wondered how Savot was doing, and when he and Captain Irae would get back. The new CMO and CEO had already checked in, and... Kevin started. He should probably visit them both and inform them of their situation face-to-face.
"Mr. Parsons, you have the Bridge. I will be back shortly." Kevin got up. This time he was leaving the command chair, but it wasn't an escape - he was flying from the frying pot into the fire. He would be the first person the two new officers would meet, their first glance at the El Salvador's command, and he wasn't even planning to go into command. (OFF: Kevin doesn't know Malley's already met Captain Irae.)
"Computer," said Kevin on his way to Sickbay, "where is Dr. Malley?"
"Dr. Malley is currently in Sickbay."
"And Commander Dunsmore?" questioned Kevin.
"Lt. Commander Dunsmore is currently in his quarters."
Kevin entered Sickbay. Lt. Nokomis (who Kevin didn't know very well) was being given a physical by Dr. Malley. He cleared his throat. "Hello, Dr Malley. I'm Lt. Commander Zimmerman. Our Captain's on Vulcan-"
"-with the first officer," finished Malley. "She told me about the situation here."
Kevin relaxed, happy that he didn't need to explain the situation to Malley. "Well, then you already know most of the staff. You probably met our counsellor down there, too, so the only person you haven't met is Mr. Parsons. He's up on the Bridge right now, but I'm sure you'll get a chance to meet him later."
"All right. Oh, I was looking through your records and you haven't had a physical for a while..."
Kevin shrugged. "Okay. I'm free as soon as we get clear of Vulcan and Captain Irae and Commander Savot get back, I think."
Malley smiled. "Good. I'll set up a time and inform you later. Glad to meet you, Commander."
Kevin nodded. "The pleasure was mine." He nodded once to Lt. Nokomis and Dr. Malley, then left to find the CEO.

There is always a little checklist of tests that must be covered in every physical. Followed usually by more species-specific tests, or as required by department. The tricorder performs most of these scans, the remainder are done on a biobed, and include: * Occular exam - completed scans of Iris, and frontal visual cortex. * Auditory exam - hearing checks fine, it's not as though she's an engineer. * Reflex - as required by tactical, her physical responses are in top order. * Motor skills - as required by tactical, she is both graceful, and unusually precise. * General physical: The Lt. is in absolutely fine physical form. The exercise program that she mentioned ought to be mandatory for some of the less active crew members. All manner of skills, as related to her performance in the Tactical Assessment Program more than meet basic requirements, and are in fact of the highest proficiency group.
Malley: Thank you for your time, Lt. Nokomis: You're welcome, Doctor. Malley: I will have those results sent to you as soon as they've been processed. If you have any questions, or concerns, we can discuss them at that time. Nokomis: Thank you, Doctor
And with that, Lt. Nokomis left sickbay. Having finished the Lieutenant's physical, Doctor Malley returned to his office to enter it into the records. He also made mention of the forthcoming appointment with Cmdr. Zimmerman, and also, the chief engineer. He had not yet had the opportunity to meet either the Chief, or Mr. Parsons, but since there was a staff meeting scheduled in the upcoming days, he had no doubt that he would. He thought to himself that perhaps he should drop by the bridge to introduce himself before hand.
And so, he headed out mentioning to his head nurse that he was bridge-bound.
Malley (to turbolift): Bridge, please He had begun to familiarize himself with the layout of the ship. So when he stepped out onto the bridge, he was taken aback by the actual size of it. He also noted, having served on an intrepid class ship, previously that there was no seat for the commander. The doors opened, and he walked up to Parsons.
Malley: Good afternoon, sir

"Good luck, Commander," Parsons told Kevin on his way off the bridge.
The CTSO continued to oversee ship's repairs from the command chair. He eagerly awaited the new Chief Engineer's assumption of his duties. The rest of the ship's senior staff had been filling in the gaps in the Engineering Department, but they were no substitute for an experienced chief engineer.
Parsons sat in the command chair and as the turbolift door opened, his chair turned slightly. The new CMO was walking toward the command chair and extended a greeting to the CTSO.
Parsons responded, "Dr. Malley, I presume." Adam stood and extended a hand. "I am Lt. Commander Parsons, Chief Tactical and Security Officer. Welcome aboard the El Sal. I understand you have met the Assistant CTSO, Lt. Nokomis."

*Several hours into the "night" Deis steps out of the operating room, leaving the Healer T'Leshka to have time with her newly surgered son. As she leaves out she tiredly strips herself out of gloves and gown thinking about everything shes just seen and done. T'Leshka was very curt and an expert of surgical direction. Her movements had been quick and very precice. The kind of precision that comes from deep concentration and decades of use and practice. One of the nurses remains behind...protocol as Savots a starfleet officer. Irene returns with her, carrying the black surgical case. Both women are quiet as they approach the shuttleport, as is the Counselor that joins them thereafter. The man was waiting at the spaceport having left a bit earlier. He approaches The captain as soon as shes close enough and says* Captain Irae, there is a Commander Hodge waiting for you inside. Says its important.
*Deis nods and gives a faint sigh. Shes tired after all that but knows she has to deliver the prognosis to the Commander. She heads on inside and is suprised to see more than Commander Hodges. He stands with a vulcan woman of apparent high status just for her costume. Rich robes, beautifully done in undertoned colors. She is of an age but not yet aged. Commander Hodges looks slightly rumpled as though he had been out in his uniform all night as he approaches the diminuative Captain* Captain Irae *reaching down to shake her hand*
Commander Hodges. Good t be meetin ye face t face. *she gives him as much a smile as shes capable of at present and shakes his hand, then gives an inclined nod to the vulcan lady. She then steps back and says* I assume ye wish t be knowin how me First Officer is doin? *When Hodges nods she answers* Hes outa th dark. Just needs stillness an time t heal now. Th Healer T'Leshka is truely gifted. It was a true pleasure t be workin wi her. *gazing to the Vulcan woman and saying* I was honored. *then continuing* With her expert skills we were able to put him back together.
*Hodges nods relieved and then looks to the vulcan lady. she nods to him and then he begins speaking* yes, well, im glad the Commander is allright. *then getting right to it* We have a problem Captain Irae. You and your crew are perfect to help us out. *The Vulcan lady steps foreward and says* Please tell me what you know of katras Captain... ... ...
~A little later on~
*Deis pilots the Minisal back up to the Orbiting El Salvador with some urgency. Only something of this magnitude could cause her to leave Savot down there rather than overseeing his recovery herself. The two Nurses and Counselor Cicso ride quietly back as the outer shuttle bay doors of the Sal open up for them. Deis has the minisal manuvered inside and landed quickly enough. She gives the shuttle guy a nod when he greets her back onboard and then heads straight out of there, much to his bemusement. The captain has always been the sociable sort, something must be going on*
*She heads herself straight for the observation lounge, tapping her commbadge on the way giving out a full shipwide comm*
=/\=Attention, Senior officers please report t th Observation lounge in 20 minutes fer briefin. Captain Irae out=/\=
*Then she goes about setting up the information to be relayed to her people during this briefing meeting. Politically touchy and rather urgent...this should be fun*

Commander Malley had a busy morning. He was very quickly moving through crew evaluations, and was set to start another round of crew members shortly, when the data-transmission line opened. Vulcan was preparing to send him the information on Cmdr. Savot. He was just about to enter his security clearance, when Captain Irae's communique came over the intercom: Irae: Attention, Senior officers please report t th Observation lounge in 20 minutes fer briefin. Captain Irae out
Well, that's that I guess, Malley thought. Nonetheless, she had indicated that it would be 20 minutes, and so he entered his security clearance, and left the file to transfer. Locking his workstation, he placed the head nurse in charge, and headed to the Observation Lounge.
=^=Log Entry=^= Chief Medical Officer's log - [personal]: Well it's time for my first staff meeting aboard the U. S. S. El Salvadore. I feel a curious combination of anxiousness, and nervousness. I have made myself known to some of the staff, but this will be my first interaction with the Captain. You know what they say about second first impressions... =^=Endlog=^=
[supplementary entry] Forward to Lt. Nokomis: Your test results have come in, Lt. You are in top physical form, your bioscans readings were exemplary; and you are a virtual specimen of perfect health so far as your motor-neuron and reflexology tests indicated a score of over 98%. Congratulations, Lieutenant.

So much for meeting the new Chief Engineer. Kevin hurried to the science labs to check on his team (he hadn't seen his people since Savot's injury) and then headed to the observation lounge. Parsons was already there when Kevin arrived.
"Thanks for taking over," said Kevin.
"No problem," said Adam. "Dr. Malley's a nice guy, isn't he?"
"Yes," agreed Kevin. "More formal than most people I know, though. I didn't get a chance to meet the new Cheif Engineer."

With that, Doctor Malley entered the room. Malley: Good Afternoon, Gentlemen Zimmerman: Hello, Doctor Parsons: Doc,
Malley was relieved by the response. He was uncertain how to proceed. As a doctor, he was extremely confident in all of his decisions. This uncertainty stemmed from the fact that his authority, as Chief Medical Officer, superceded eveyrone on the ship, but at present, his his general lack of on-duty command experience, combined with being only an ensign made social conditions less than ideal.
Parsons: At ease Ensign we're colleagues here, you should feel more relaxed. Malley: Yes sir Zimmerman: And don't call him sir, you're the Chief Medical Officer Parsons: Hey! Zimmerman glanced at Parsons and he fell silent. Malley was genuinely at ease.
OFF: (I hope the dialogue fits in with your characters, if not I'll change it 'round)
