Not long after Captain Irae ordered Warp speed increased to factor 9.5, the Vulcan ship came on long range sensors.
"Captain, I have the Vulcan ship on long range sensors, we are closing on her," Parsons said enthusiastically.
"Confirmed Captain," added Zimmerman.
Lt. Whillis spoke up, "Ma'am, at our present speed we will be within weapons range in approximately 23 minutes."
"Very well Lieutenant, maintain course and speed," orderd the CO. "Red Alert...Mr. Parsons, make weapons ready and prepare to raise shields on my command."
"Aye Captain."
"Commander Parsons, try hailing that ship."
"Aye"...the tactical console chimed as the CTSO opened a channel..."there is no response Captain."

"Sir, they are increasing speed, but not significantly. Hold on... no, just a sensor glitch. Out estimated time to firing range is now 24 minutes." Kevin looked closer at his screen. "I've been getting occasional sensor glitches," he announced. "Almost like cloaked ships... or someone's playing with my station. Hold on.... yes, someone's tampering with the main computer."
"Security to main computer," ordered Irae. "Is it a major problem, Mr. Zimmerman?"
"Negative. I've thrown up firewalls over all important systems," said Kevin. "We shouldn't have any more problems."
=^= Sir, there's no one down here. It doesn't look like anyone's been here since the last check-up. Orders, Captain? =^=
"Stay down there," Irae told thesecurity team. "How is that possible, Mr. Zimmerman?"
Kevin shook his head. "The only other way to break into our systems would be from the outside... and to get that far you would need all sorts of codes, a fair understanding of how Federation computers work, and be a very good hacker."
"The renegade Vulcan ship?" suggested Parsons.
"Possibly. But they couldn't have our command codes, so they won't be able to do anything more than mess up our minor systems and bug our major ones. I've errected a very good firewall to stop them from entering any majors systems."
"Good work," commented Irae.
*********************************************
"They haven't slowed down," said the technician. "Shall I take them out?"
"We don't want to start a major conflict with the Federation by blowing up one of their ships, as you well know. Wait until it becomes clear we have no alternative. Then we will drop out of warp and you will destroy them."
"Yes, sir," said the technician.

"Possibly. But they couldn't have our command codes, so they won't be able to do anything more than mess up our minor systems and bug our major ones. I've erected a very good firewall to stop them from entering any majors systems."
The interaction between the other senior officers intrigued Ethan. They were working as one unit, with one mind, but something that they had said got him thinking.
Why wasn't the ship heading towards a populated area or a part of space that could possibly give them an advantage? They were heading into open space, like they new they could take on the superior Federation ship.
"Commander Zimmerman, how bad would it be if they did have our command codes?" Ethan asked," could they be able to control the ship from the outside.

Kevin turned and looked at Hope. "If they had our command codes, we'd be dead. They could shut off our life support. They could even shut down our warp core right now, and at this speed there's a good chance the ship could be torn apart if that happened. But don't worry, the codes are protected by a dozen firewalls Starfleet has institued on all ships, and a couple I added for good measure. It would take them days to crack the security programs before they got to the codes, and the only way to do that is to swipe them from a Starfleet vessel, Starbase, or the like that we have come in contact with. Or directly from this ship, of course."
"Like that one on Vulcan?" asked Hope.
"If anyone had broken into their files, we'd know," said Kevin. Besides, even if they did, like I said they would need to work on cracking the firewalls for days, assuming they had someone who's good with computers. Relax, everything's fine. Twenty minutes to firing range, by the way."

*Counselor's Office*
"Thats it, I give up. I'm not doing this anymore."
O'Malley suddenly appeared in the doorway that separted Parkers office from the rest of sickbay.
"Anything wrong Cisco" Malley enquired with a certain degree of hesitancy.
Cisco looked over virtually knocking the doctor back with the most evil stare. Parker quickly gained his normal composure and apologised to the good doctor for giving him 'evils' as it was known.
"Paperwork, dear Doctor paperwork." Cisco said reaching for his 15th coffee of the hour.
"Ahh, I see. Beurocracy reigns supreme." Malley said knowingly.
"Yep. Im trying to get the psych reports done for the crew but the database doesnt want to talk to the mainframe, and I'm certainly not doing it all by hand. And I'm feeling a little useless at the moment. Theirs alot of action happening, but not really anything for me."
"Yes, it hasnt been the most convenient of starts to a new job has it?" Malley said. Replacing Cisco's coffee with a herbal tea.
"You could do with some rest, and no more caffeine. Otherwise I will have no choice but to sedate you , and well that wont be pretty, as Im sure you would be quite resistant"
"Indeed Doctor, but I will yield to your medical opinon and common sense. See you later."

"Anything wrong, Counsellor?" Malley enquired with a certain degree of hesitancy.
"Yes, paperwork! Doctor." Cisco replied sipping a cup of coffee all too eagerly.
Malley wondered aloud how many cups the counsellor had embibed (sp.)
"That would be fifteen, sir" he responded.
Malley leapt into action muttering something about saving the Counsellor's heart; nearly running past his desk, picking up the coffee on his way to the replicator.
"Replace this coffee with one herbal tea - blend 305!" Malley ordered. The replicator responded, and Malley set the tea on his desk.
"This blend has no caffeine, you have had way too much coffee. Somehow I don't imagine you would want a sedative and bed-orders for the night, now would you?" he said, at least half-seriously.

Ethan was a bit relieved at Commander's Zimmerman's confidence, but Ethan worried that it could just be his ego at his own abilities. He didn't know the man, but Ethan knew that Starleet officer's thought that they were God's gift to their perspective department.
Ethan kept his mouth shut, and waited for what was to come. If it was what he thought they would have a lot harder time dealing with these Vulcan's than anyone thought.
MODIFIED: Mr. Hope, my apologies for editting your post. Have explained my reasoning in a PM. -Savot

Malley was sitting in his office going over his own paperwork with delicious "blend 305" at his side. Saevalis' presence was having an effect on the more sensitive species on board. Namely betazeds; one of which just coded.
Malley jumped out from behind his desk and rushed in towards bio-bed six. No one was on duty, this was due to the fact that Sciences needed a few extra hands manning sensors. With no other options available, Malley bellowed for Doctor Parker to come in from his office.
It was fortunate that he was a trained field medic, however it appeared as though fate would not permit him the "choice" of taking a duty shift in this regard.
"I need some help here! 10 MG of Benzodiasepenes, 5 MG of Epinepherine, and 2 MG of alprazolame."
After preparing the hyposprays, Parker rushed over to help transfer Elaa'n to the main surgical bed from biobed six for scans.

Aboard the Federation Fastship:
"We are gaining on the El Salvador, now picking up the target of their pursuit on short range sensors.", Savot relayed as T'Leshka leaned slightly forward to gaze at the readouts with her son.
Seeing the sensor pattern of the frontmost vessel, T'Leshka spoke, "It would appear your Commander Hodges' records are accurate. That ship shares nearly every quality of vessels that utilized the ring-design most often found in Surak-class vessels. This particular vessel follows the structure of the smaller, exploratory class of vessels, though the subtle differences in structure likely depict modern offensive systems not possible on the original design."
Savot nodded slightly as he strained the engines past the red line, "I concur, though they would still fair poorly against a vessel with the combat caliber of a Prometheus design. Hence their acquisition of the command codes. Commander Hodges is sending a communique directly to Starfleet ordering the alteration of command codes for ships that have traversed this region within the given timeframe, with an additional 2 Terran weeks on either side for precaution. However, as our hails to the El Salvador have gone thus far unanswered, it seems probable the Isolationists have already used the codes to disable incoming communications. We must catch up to them if we are to issue the warning in time. E.T.A. to intercept... 8.43 minutes."
************************************
Aboard newly-created Sudoc-class vessel Purification:
"They are attempting to hail us, they'll demand that we stand down", reported one of the bridge officers with a deep sneer at the ship's current commander.
The officer spoke to the commander's back, and as the back turned to show the bearer's face, the face held the prominently extended brow of a Romulan, "Calm thyself Sunomk. That is the strength you vulcans claim is it not? Thankfully Romulan strength is present to see us through this encounter, or your flames of revolution would freeze in the cold of space. Helmsman, come to a full stop. Engage distress lights, lure them in. Triesah, transmit the code..." Another, younger, female Romulan sat at a science station from which she would begin transmitting the code that would give them the capability to instantly access and disable the systems of the Federation battlecruiser pursuing them...
**********************************
Aboard U.S.S. El Salvador B:
Irae leaned forward in her command chair with every half-minute that ticked by, as though trying to consciously will her vessel through space with greater haste, "ETA now, Zimmerman."
Kevin, who had been hearing that same request around every 53 seconds on average, was ready with the current value, "Intercept in 2.7 minutes Captain."
Parsons gave his readiness stance as well, "All weapons ready, tractor beams prepared to engage... Captain! They're coming out of warp!"
Irae stood up from her chair, gesturing towards Whillis though he couldn't see the motion behind him, "Helm, prepare fer all-stop!"
Ensign Hope turned his head slightly and spoke out quickly, "Captain, recommend coming to all-stop past the enemy's current position! Get ourselves between them and the Neutral Zone!"
Irae nodded firmly and sent our her orders, "Good man. Whillis, overshoot, then bring us around t' face the bastairds."
It took less than a billionth of a microsecond to overshoot a dormant vessel while travelling at warp, but Whillis' deft manipulation of the controls brought the sleek starship bursting back into normal space, curving back towards the opposing vessel before coasting to a stop about 5.73 kilometers distance, the El Sal standing doggedly nose-to-nose with her opponent, confident in her inevitable victory.
Irae sat once more, slightly more comfortable now the chase itself was over, and instantly gestured to Parsons at the tactical station, "Parsons, target their power-distribution ring and disable these brigands."
Parsons, smiling slightly in the satisfaction of the task, nodded and placed his fingertips upon the console, a pianist's touch... just as the console went black. Consoles all over the bridge went black, flickering on and off as they attempted to pull power but we cut off by some outward force.
Hope, working valiantly to aid Zimmerman in maintaining the firewalls and protected subroutines of the systems they had left, gritted his teeth and thought to himself, So they did have the codes. So much for my paranoia theory.
Unbeknownst to him, his thoughts were being almost entirely mirrored by those of Kevin Zimmerman, brow furrowed as he concentrated on rerouting command access to as many of the systems as he could, noting with a glance at his console readouts that he was getting reinforced by the new Acting Ensign at Ops. He inwardly apologized for not heeding the possibility of code theft earlier, but really, he thought, something like this hasn't been heard of since the reports from Kirk's space-battle with Khan. Who would expect something with that magnitude of deceit? These are Vulcans we're talking about! Sighing and shaking off the thought for now, all he could do was concentrate on preserving as much of the ship as possible.
Irae, red-faced with barely-controlled fury, whirled to Parsons, "Status report on th' defensive systems!"
Parsons shook his head before planting his open palms down on the flickering console in frustration, "It's no good Captain. Shields, phasers, torpedo banks, all offline."
Whillis then called back from the helm, "Helm's not answering Captain, we're dead in space!"
Irae slapped her hand down on the console of her center seat, =^= Engineering! Get this ship working five minutes ago! =^= Shutting down the link before even getting a response, knowing inwardly there was not a whole lot they could do. The systems weren't broken, they just weren't under their control anymore.
A shout from Parsons broke her angry reverie, "Captain! The vulcan ship's preparing to fire torpedoes!"
"Zimmerman! What do we have left?", questioned the Captain, staring at the vessel floating on the viewscreen, awaiting the fatal bursts from her torp banks...
"Not much Captain, tractor beams at minimal power, managed to save life support, internal power, and thank God anti-matter containment", the science chief reported.
"Another ship coming in Captain", Hope called out from the Ops station, "Appears to be Federation."
Parsons then pointed to the viewscreen and shouted, "They're firing!"
Irae stared at the two balls of energy surrounding packages of anti-matter payloads, hurtling towards her unprotected vessel, no way to move the ship, no chance of surviving a hit, but perhaps.... Hands on the back of her chair, she gestured fiercely to Kevin and Adam, "Gentlemen, get me those tractor beams. Push those devils off course!"
Parsons, leaning for the auxiliary console as the main one wasn't functional, had to wait until the torpedoes were almost upon them since the tractors were at such low power. Almost wincing as he watched the screen, the entire bridge crew shared his tension as the split-beam tractor energy leapt forth from the deflector, striking each at the head to push them outward to either side of the saucer of the vessel.
Just as people's breath started to ease out of their chests; however, the torpedoes, hit by the force of the tractors, were set off one on either side of the upper saucer section. The El Salvador avoided direct damage, but the concussive force rocked the vessel, throwing crew and equipment about haphazardly, including Captain Irae, whose temple struck the bridge railing, sending her to the deck.
As the entire bridge crew looked down in alarm, Parsons was the first to react, moving from his station and hefting himself over the railing to land in a kneel beside Irae. Pressing his fingers to her neck... he breathed a heavy sigh of relief, "She's all right, just unconscious."
Hope, who had continued monitoring the viewscreen after the explosions, called out to Parsons, now senior on the bridge, "Commander, look!"
As they all looked up, they saw a small vessel, designed for speed rather than armament or cargo, followed the vulcan ship's futile attempts at an evasive turn. The small ship rammed into the ring of the vulcan attacker, then hurtled off into space and exploded. The vulcan ship, significantly damaged, began listing and drifting slightly away from the El Sal. As the bridge crew tried to figure out what exactly just occurred, they noticed the ending hum of a completing beam-in. An aged vulcan woman, a bond and unconscious vulcan male, and Commander Savot stood near the rear of the bridge.
"Savot!", Zimmerman called out from his station, the vulcan commander being the last person he expected to see pop out of nowhere. The last time he'd seen him, the commander had been grasping to life on a sickbay biobed, and here he stood, real as life. Parsons too, looked pleasantly surprised as he had actually seen the vulcan take the grievous wound that put him out of commission all this time.
Savot, taking the bridge in in a glance, saw Parsons standing beside a fallen Deis Irae, "Doctor T'Leshka, if you ple"
The vulcan first officer was cut off; however, as the very woman he addressed was already passing him and attending to the body, "It will be taken care of, my son." Kneeling by the body to begin an initial examination with her medical tricorder.
Savot, tilting his head in an acquiescent nod, moved to stand in front of the Captain's chair, "Commander Parsons if you will attend the Captain to sickbay, secure this prisoner in the brig, then return to the bridge as soon as possible", gesturing to the bound vulcan male on the bridge floor.
Parsons nodded firmly, scooped up the Captain, nodded to a security Lt. to take the prisoner in custody, and the group of 5 got on the turbolift to head to sickbay and the brig.
Zimmerman, looking again at the drifting vulcan ship on the screen, spoke up, "Commander, what exactly did you do?"
Savot, hands clasped behind his back, explained briefly, "On vulcan a plot was discover to gain Federation starship command codes through an Isolationist planted in the ranks of Starfleet at the Embassy. As the vessel was already utilizing these codes to jam incoming communications, it was necessary to travel to your location to give warning. Seeing the situation as it stood, it was necessary to temporarily disable the Isolationist vessel to spare the El Salvador from further abuse. Maintaining ramming course as long as possible, we then transported aboard the bridge, given the non-functioning status of the shields. What is our current status?"
Zimmerman spun back around to his station, bringing up various readouts from after the concussion blasts, "The blasts didn't cause too much damage, but our systems are pretty messed up. It'll help that they're not actively interfering for the moment, though."
Savot nodded slowly, "It is unknown how long the enemy will remain indisposed. We must make full use of the time we have. Ensign Hope, coordinate with Mr. Zimmerman to disconnect system access from the main command pathways. We need not concern ourselves at the moment with replacing the codes themselves, merely making the current ones obsolete and regaining control. Mr. Whillis, attempt manual overrides of manuevering thrusters. As Hope and Zimmerman regain control, then move to restart impulse engines. I do not wish to risk the warp drive in our current chaotic state. I shall work from the secondary science station. Keep me apprised of your progress."
OFF: Okay, again sorry that this is hideously long, it's just for this to end in a way that makes sense, I needed to reveal a whole lot of stuff that I had hoped would get exposed throughout, but it's drawn on so long that I figured everyone would be happier if we just took a big leap forward. Everyone feel free to contribute something crucial to the effort, just give everyone a chance to get their hand in before wrapping up the whole enchilada. I'm planning on posting the Vulcan Planet's response to the success of the mission once we get there, so know that that part's taken care of. Just work together and end the threat however you all decide, within reason of course. Once again I offer my gratitude and admiration to the entire crew for hanging in there so steadfastly through this lengthy mission. I ensure a calm period after this for us to get some home-court business taken care of.

Cisco's Office
Cisco was just starting to relax and had on some of his favourite dance music, this always helped him calm down. He had put all the paperwork he had yet to complete to one side and was just starting to drift off to his happy place when he heard one hell of a commotion happening in Sickbay next door.
Sickbay
"Well Doctor you certainly choose your moments dont you. And I was just getting to my happy place."
"Apologies Parker, but I did not plan this, our patient here, obviously was having a moment. Their stabalising now."
"Must be my magic touch" Cisco said just brushing the side of Malleys uniform, with his right hand as he was putting the hyposprays back.
Doctor Malley just carried on attending to his patient, making a side-ways glance at Parker.
"So any chance for that Sedative and Bed Orders or would you just like a night cap. I have a good whiskey in my cabinet"
After double checking the scans, and making sure their patient was stable, Cisco walked into his office and board out two glassed of whiskey, wondering if Malley was going to join him.

"Parsons to Malley. Medical emergency, we're on our way" he called from the Turbolift.
"Understood" Malley responded. He ran over to Dr. Parker's office and told him that the drink would have to wait.
At that moment, Parsons and Dr. T'Leshka came in carrying an unconscious Captain Irae.
"What happened? Everyone felt the shaking" he asked as they moved her to the Main Operations Biobed.
"Two torpedos exploded to the port and starboard almost simultaneously. The shock shifted the vessel from a negative pitch to a positive pitch, and she was thrown against the bridge railing, hitting her head" he explained.
Scans were already in progress. Dr. T'Leshka reported that she had sustained no major injury, and had simply been rendered unconcious due to an unfortunately precise knock to her right temple.
Malley agreed with her assessment, and gave her a stimulant; she came to almost immediately.
"Wha's happenin'?" she asked.

In response to the groggy Captain's inquiry, Parsons piped up, "Ma'am, you hit your head when we were rocked by the shock wave from the two torpedoes. Neither hit the ship and we suffered only minor damage. Commander Savot arrived with a small vessel and rammed the ring of the enemy ship. His ship was destroyed and the enemy vessel damaged, but Savot beamed aboard the El Sal with his mother. We have disabled the ship's command codes and Savot is trying to restore power from the bridge. The Doctor says you should be fine, but requires your presence in sickbay for a little while longer. You can argue with him about when you can return to duty. "
Parsons made for the door but stopped as it whooshed open and turned back. "We have one more conspirator in custody. Commander Savot arrested an Isolationist that had managed to infiltrate the embassy. That's how they got our command code. I'll be on the bridge if you need me."
The CTSO then returned the bridge. Looking over his station, "well it looks like we have a few more systems working."
"I have limited tactical sensors," noted Parsons. "The enemy vessel is still drifting and at a list. Life support is fully functional. Commander Savot, I recommend we secure them with a tractor beam and prepare a boarding party."

"Aahh Captain what are we going to do with you" Cisco said in a mocking tone, knowing that he would most likely have got a good sharp stare if Irae wasnt still a little groggy.
"Parker" was all that she could get out before she was unconscious again and the monitoring alarms starting going off.
"Malley if you wouldnt mind. I was coming over to do the good Captains Neuro Obs, and well she's decided to go into respiratory distress, just calling it could be a bleed on the brain. Sats have dropped to 88% we had better move fast. You do the honours. I'll give you a hand."

"Parker" was all that she could get you before she was unconcious again. The monitoring alarms went off and Malley jumped up from his desk.
"Doctor Malley, if you wouldn't mind ... I was coming over to do the Captain's Neuro-Observation and she's decided to go into respiratory distress." Parker said
Malley was almost to the biobed as Counsellor Parker finished his preliminary diagnosis.
"Just calling it -- could be a bleed on the brain. Sats have dropped to 88% we had better move fast. You do the honours, I'll give you a hand." Parker finished
Malley was busy reading the data being fed back to him from the biobed all of which confirmed Parker's diagnosis. Malley nodded in response to Parker's offer to assist.
"Cortical stimulators, and 6cc of anticoagulant in a hypospray." he ordered
Parker raced over to get the supplies and came back with the hypospray in one hand and the Cortical Stimulators in the other. He gave the hypospray to Malley, and proceeded to place the Cortical Stimulators on either side of her temples.
Once the coagulant was working, Malley stepped back and monitored with the tricorder as he ordered Parker to stimulate her synapses.
Two joules, ten joules, fifteen joules... and she was back. The alarms were sated and so were the Doctors. She regained consciousness within seconds.
"Wha're ya people doin' ta me?" she asked. "Forget the bloody ship, wha' jus' happened?"
He explained to her that she went into respiratory distress as a result of a small aneurism which they had just corrected that occured when she fell.
"Oh, I know, b'i. Now what's this not fit for duty, yet business? I have a ship to Captain y'know" she asked
TAG IRAE
Chief Medical Officer's Log
I believe I can count on Doctor Parker for any assistance I may need. It is a relief that he is as talented in the Sickbay as he is in the Counsellor's office. His diagnosis was right on the money, I'm promoting him from "Medic" to Assistant CMO.
Captain Irae suffered a fall on the bridge, when two simultaneous torpedo blasts pitched the ship from centre to port and then suddenly to starboard. She lost consciousness and was brought to sickbay.
Diagnosis She was diagnosed as simply unconcious due to the force of the trauma and was revived. Shortly thereafter she suffered Respiratory Distress induced by a previously undetected aneurism near her pre-frontal cortex. The aneurism was repaired and she quickly re-regained consciousness.
Treatment Bedrest, observation. The aneurism has been corrected.
Prognosis She will be fit to return to active duty within twenty-four hours of observation to be certain that nothing else has been overlooked.
Outcome [EDIT: ] After staying in sickbay for the assigned observation period I have cleared Captain Irae to be returned to duty. ==End Log==

Kevin stood up, kicking his station. "I've done all I can here," he said, still surprised and upset the Romulans had been able to get the command codes. "I'll be down at the computer core, putting in new, temporary codes that the Romulans shouldn't have. Oh, Commander Savot... remember those torpedoes I modified a long time ago? Where I gave them their own personal guidance systems with nanoprobes? They won't be affected by this. If you needed to, those could be manually loaded and ejected, and then thrown at our friends over there."
Savot nodded. "How long with it take to prepare them?"
"I can have my people put them in very quickly," said Kevin, heading for the turbolift.
"Do so. I assume our commbadges will not be working?" asked Savot.
"Not until I get them back," confirmed Kevin. "I should warn you this will take hours if not days to repair. We could be here a very long time, and if they get communications online... well, it would be good to go capture their ship before that happens."
"You agree with Commander Parsons and his attack plan," said Savot. "And you will not trust anyone else to go take over their ship's computers, will you?"
Kevin grinned, stopping short of the turbolift. "Nope. But that would slow us down getting our problems fixed... unless Ensign Hope wanted to go down to the computer core and start brining back our missing systems? I could have some of my department help him, because we'll need people up here working with the people at the computer core. It would give him good command experience. What do you say?"

Savot stood up from the auxiliary science station, looking between Kevin and Adam, then nodding, "I concur. Commander Parsons, outfit a heavy boarding party, and proceed to the enemy ship aboard the Mini-Sal. I do not feel it would be prudent to risk potential system failure in the middle of a transportation from aboard ship. Assume control of the vessel however you best see fit. If you believe you can gain suitable docking access without becomming pinned down, attempt it; or if you feel that transporting in teams from the shuttle would be more advantageous then proceed as such. I leave it in your hands."
Then nodding at Zimmerman but continuing to speak to both he and Parsons, "Commander Zimmerman, proceed in with the boarding party and attempt to gain control of the enemy's computer. If the boarding party can take the entire vessel, very well, but if the assault becomes difficult attempt to secure a section with suitable computer access for you to invade their systems and aid the progress of the assault."
Walking to stand behind the captain's chair, Savot then addressed Ensign Hope, "Mr. Hope, proceed to the computer core and supervise the science teams in reprogramming the core with temporary command codes until we return to starbase for a full reprogramming. Mr. Zimmerman is correct in that this could provide a valuable command experience. Utilize it well and proceed with all possible alacrity."
Turning back to Kevin and Adam, "A final note of caution gentlemen, make absolutely sure, if you encounter the katra crystal that no one makes physical contact with it with bare skin. If bare contact is made the essence of Sudoc inside may kill the source of contact outright. Take a biohazard case with you to secure the crystal when you locate it. I would join you to deal with it myself, but my presence will be more beneficial aboard ship. I have full confidence in your ability to handle the situation appropriately. Be prepared to embark in 5 minutes, I will use what tractor power is left to secure the vessel for boarding."
(Tag any extra comments Zimmerman, Parsons, or Hope wish to add, if any)
The three bridge officers entered the turbolift together, and Savot turned to address the two outward-bound officers, "And gentlemen", the faces turned back toward the Vulcan First Officer, "exercise caution and return safely."
The turbolift doors then whooshed closed, taking the officers to their respective duties, and possibly extreme danger...

Kevin grabbed a small box of equipment from the science labs - a virus in an isolated PADD, what was essentially a state-of-the-art laptop, some nano-probes that were designed to destroy engines (in case they got to Engineering on the enemy ship), and some other tools. Then, making sure he had his phaser with him, Kevin hurried to the Mini-Sal. Parsons was already there with several other officers, who were walking into the small vessel.
"Go ahead and board," said Adam, indicating the Mini-Sal. "I'm just waiting for a couple more people to arrive, and we'll take off. Do you know where we should be headed once we get on that ship?"
Kevin shrugged. "Their Bridge, Engineering, or direct access to their computer core would probably be best."

The team finished boarding the Mini-Sal and Parsons closed the bay door. With a compliment of about 20 combat ready security personnel, two conn officers to fly the small ship, Parsons, Zimmerman, and a few support personnel, the Mini-Sal was on its way toward the listing enemy ship.
As they approached Parsons targeted the enemy vessel's sensor array and fired phasers. Looking at Kevin, "They don't need to know where we are docking." Turning to the pilot, "Ensign Ramirez, if this ship is anything like its older counterparts it will have a cargo bay here," the CTSO said pointing to a spot on the schematic displayed on one of the panels. "Prepare to dock with their ship at that point."
"But Sir, how..." As Ramirez was asking the question the Mini-Sal's phasers cut into the enemy ship like a torch.
Seconds later the small Federation vessel was docked and Parsons gave the order to increase atmosphere to repressurize the enemy cargo bay. Once done, the docking port opened and an advance team rushed into the cargo bay. A few bodies that had been caught on cargo containers laid in awkward positions on the floor of the bay along with various cargo and containers. Commander Parsons assigned two of his men to protect Commander Zimmerman and led the rest to the door connecting the cargo bay with the rest of the ship. On his Commander's orders, one of the security officers opened the door and a few armed crewmen rushed through to secure the corridor. They caught a few Romulans/Vulcans off guard and downed them with phaser fire. However, before they did, one of the enemy reached a panel and activated an alarm.
As the klaxon sounded, Parsons turned to Kevin, "Well if they didn't before, they certainly know we're here now."

==Chief Medical Officer's Log: Personal== I was dying to get out of Sickbay. This has been quite the eventful week for me, one thing after another after another, even! Unfortunately, the boarding party left without me. Professionally it is irrelevant, I am best able to serve our crew and the soon-to-be captives here. ==End Log==
I guess it's time for that drink he thought to himself and headed over to the counsellor's office.
"I will take you up on that drink now, Doctor." he said

Ethan was extremely surprised when he the ships first officer began talking to him, but he was even more astonished when he understood what he had just ordered him to do. Ethan didn't know if he could do it, but he wouldn't let them down.
"Understood sir," Ethan said gulping his fear down his stomach," I'll make sure that everything goes right." Ethan shuffled his feet a bit, but he clearly and without falling on his face made his way towards the turbolift.
"Main Computer Core"
The lift ride ended quickly and Ethan stepped into a flurry of activity. It seemed as if there were a hundred people there, but it really was about fifteen crewmen.
"Who are you?" a crewmember asked as he continued to work and hold a conversation with Ethan.
"I'm...I'm....here," Ethan stumbled.
"Look AE, if your going to just use up space you can just leave, we need to do this as quickly as possible," the crewman responded. His attitude angered Ethan, but he kept his cool and just responded smoothly and with his confidence growing once again.
"Look crewman, I don't know you, but I was sent here to supervise and help out anyway I can by Commander Savot and that is what I'm going to do," Ethan said," now what is currently being done, crewman."
"Sir, we have begun reprogramming the command codes for all major systems and their back ups," the crewman said snapping to attention," as of now only tactical and engine control is operating under the new codes."
"Okay good, keep me informed, crewman," Ethan said as he joined the others in implementing temporary command codes.

Kevin nodded in agreement. "Which way?"
"You're the techie," said Parsons, indicating Kevin's tricorder.
"It isn't that big a ship," stated Kevin, turning to the right. "Let's go visit their engine room. It probably isn't as well-defended as the Bridge. We have... a little more than fifty meters to go to our right, and we're one deck higher than we need to be."
The team began to move, but it wasn't long before more of the Vulcan/Romulans were pursuing them.
"Split up!" ordered Parsons. "Zimmerman, take a few men with you to engineering. I'll try and get to you, but we've got to take care of this problem right here."
With that Kevin was left alone with only six officers. Another command scenario. These things seemed to get worse every time. Sighing, Kevin started toward engineering at a trot, the security men keeping pace with him. They were almost to their destination when more Romulan/Vulcans appeared in front of them. One of the security officers was hit as a brief and intense firefight ensued. Kevin was pressed against a wall by another officer, and both teams began to retreat. The Romulan/Vulcans went into what looked to be engineering. Kevin saw a couple other officers in the room. It was much smaller than the El Salv's Main Engineering.
"Sir, we can't get in their. I haven't seen anything that looks like a Jefferis tube, either. Unless you can get in from here..." the security officer shrugged.
Another coughed and said flatly, "Wilson's dead."
One of Kevin's worst fear were realised. A man had died under his command. He was completely responsible for it. Kevin froze up, not thinking. In the back of his mind, he knew he'd be in for a lot of counselling sessions.
"Sir?" prompted anothe security guard.
Kevin shook his head. He needed to focus on the work at hand. He couldn't do anything else. Bending down, Kevin took out a PADD with a modified subspace transmitter on it. Activating it, he imputed several commands, accessing the ship's computer remotely. It was locked tight. Whoever had encrypted this ship's computer was very good. Kevin needed to attack it physically. He tossed a small container to the security guard nearest the engineering room's door.
"Open that and throw it in there," ordered Kevin. "Its full of nanoprobes, an airborn variety. It will disable their engines."
The security guard held the container out at arm's length, responded with a 'Yes, sir," and did as commanded. Several disruptors fired, but none hit the woman, who stepped away from the doors quickly. They shut, and Kevin could hear the Romulan/Vulcans firing inside. They would get most of the nanoprobes, but the ones that survived would wreck enough havoc.
Kevin stood up. "We need to get back to Commander Parsons. Either we need our whole team to attack this place, or we need to find the computer core. I haven't seen any sign of it on my tricorder, so either its hidden somehow, or its in engineering or on the Bridge."
"Commbadges are down," said one officer. "But we should be able to backtrack our way to him."
The team started back the way they had come, leaving the dead officer where he was.

Post by Savot on Feb 10, 2006 18:35:35 GMT
Savot was the lone senior officer remaining on the bridge. The situation had necessitated the absence of Parsons and Zimmerman as members of the boarding party assaulting the Neo-Isolationist vessel now drifting slightly off the port bow of the El Salvador. Hope was in the main computer core working the the science teams to reprogram the ship's systems with temporary codes. Doctor Malley and Cisco Parker were likely busy in sickbay with various injuries resulting from the torpedo explosions earlier. Whillis had gone to engineering to help Dunsmore run engine tests before they actually tried activating either Impulse or Warp drive under the temporary codes, though he ought to be back in about a half-hour.
Savot had been doing what he could with the bridge consoles, routing the crucial ones through auxiliary power which was, at the moment, more reliable than the mains. He was lying on his back under the Ops station rerouting that as he was most familiar with the wiring of that station, it being his old job, when he heard the activation hum of the Tactical and Engineering stations as they came back to life one shortly after the other. Finishing his work at Ops, he lifted himself up and moved over to the Tactical station, initiating the tractor beams on the enemy vessel. No other action was safe right now, since there was no way to make contact with the boarding party to know whether any action against the enemy vessel would harm their efforts instead of the enemy's.
T'Leshka had returned to the bridge after escorting the Captain to sickbay. Since communications were out throughout the ship, and bridge personnel were prone to injury from exploding consoles or the like during a battle, she and Savot had deemed it wise to have her here in such an event, rather than concentrate all the ship's medical expertise in sickbay. She was working at the primary science station, Zimmerman's usual post, attempting to get a detailed scan of the enemy ship so they could tell where the Federation personnel were as opposed to the vessel's Vulcan and Romulan occupants.
Saevalis sat at the Helm, maintaining a text-based communication with Engineering so they could send up test requests for the helm to attempt and allow Engineering to gauge the results. Thus far it seemed as though impulse could be fully restored and reliable within 11 minutes, warp speed readiness couldn't yet be estimated.
After securing the tractors, Savot stayed at the Tactical console, prepared to take action if the situation deemed it necessary. Other than that, all he could do was wait for the results of both the boarding party and the computer core workers.
OFF: Busy most of the weekend, may not be able to post. Boarding party can feel free to make as much or as little progress as they like, same with the computer core team. I'll post if I can, and hopefully we'll get this whole mission finished by end of next week if not sooner.

Parsons and a majority of the security team laid down a field of fire to suppress the advancing enemy, while Zimmerman headed off to Engineering with his team. The fire fight continued for several minutes. One crewman was hit and lay writhing in the corridor. Parsons hopped out and and covered another crewman who dragged the injured man to safety. A few of the enemy went down, then another crewman.
"We need to fall back to a position with more cover," Parsons said gesturing to a corner at the end of the corridor, which Kevin had rounded just minutes earlier. A few officers grabbed the injured men, and the rest provided covering fire as the team withdrew toward engineering.
As the team reached the corner, the vessel shook slightly. "What was that?," a crewman said to no one in particular.
"The El Sal has locked on a tractor beam; they must be making progress," responded the CTSO.
At that moment, Commander Zimmerman and his team came up behind them, one man short. "What's your status Kevin?"
"We were not able to gain control of engineering and we lost one man. I did manage to to infect the engineering computers with nanoprobes, but I don't know how effective they will be. I suggest we assault engineering with the entire team or head for the computer core," reported Zimmerman.
"Very well, which target do you recommend Commander," asked Parsons.
Kevin reported his problem locating the computer core, so the team headed for Engineering once again. A four man team was left behind to hold off the threat down the corridor.
As the team neared Engineering they could see the enemy inside running around with tools accessing panels and inputing commands, at least some of the nanoprobes were doing some damage.
The Commander looked at his team. "We will rush them on my command. You four take the right side of the room on entering and you four take the left." Parsons reached into a satchel Ensign Potter had been carrying and retrieved a plasma grenade. Parsons armed the grenade, stepped out of cover and threw it into Engineering. The grenade banked off a wall and was rolling toward the middle of the room when it went off with a bright flash.
"Now!" The team rushed in and began firing. From outside the room it looked like a light show. When the flashes stopped Kevin entered the room. Parsons was straddling a Romulan striking what was once his face with the butt of his phaser rifle. A young security ensign lay dead nearby.
Parsons regained his composure and asked the team to find Zimmerman a working console.

After the brief but intense firefight, Kevin found a working terminal and hacked his way into the system. He had brought along a translater, which he needed. The language was a mixture of Romulan and Vulcan. While similar, there were notable differences, and Kevin didn't have more than a basic understanding of either language.
"How much longer?" asked Parsons.
Kevin shrugged. "I dunno. I'm looking for their- oops."
"What?"
"They, um, have a rather impressive firewall," said Kevin, hands moving furiously. "It will take me a while to get around it..."
Several minutes went by while the security team watched the entrance to Engineering, waiting for the science officer to finish up. Finally, Kevin grinned. "I think I've got them," he announced.
"You're finished?" asked Parsons, surprised at how quickly the ship had been taken.
"Oh, no," said Kevin. "But I will be soon. Life support, navigation, those are both still out of my control. I'll get them in a moment..."
=^=Savot to Parsons. What is your status? =^=
"Commbadges are working again," said Kevin, unnessecarily.
Parsons gave Savot a summary of what had happened, but Kevin was not paying attention to him. He'd managed to lock out communications, which were temporarily down anyways, and he was working on cracking the final systems, when another console to his right abruptly died. Kevin stared at it a moment. Another console died across the room. Then another.
"Commander Zimmerman? What's going on?" asked Parsons.
Cursing, Kevin didn't answer but instead put a lock on all the systems he'd been able to get, storing all temporary files - crew's logs, supspace communications, etc. - onto a PADD, and then resumed trying to get to the last systems. His console died before he could make much progress.
"Mr. Zimmerman?" asked Parsons, not likeing what he'd just seen.
"I got them, minus life support and navigation. But they will be busy with getting all their other systems back, and I put a self-replicating lock on those." He grinned, knowing that would provoke a question from one of the security officers if he didn't explain it, and continued. "What it does is it rewrites itself over and over. But it makes little changes every time, so it mutates. There is a master key, but that is about... 10 million characters long, if I'm thinking of the right code.
"You have the master key?"
"Somewhere, since I wrote the program. I'm a little unorganised. But the point is, we have almost everything we need. I should be able to get the rest of the systems from our Bridge by forcing a subspace communication on them, since I control those systems," said Kevin.
"Good," said Parsons. "Let's get back, then. I've had enough of this place."

Ethan knew that the El Salvador had just initiated its tractor beam and he could only guess that things were going in their favor, but he was no where close to finishing what he was assigned to do. There were so many systems on a ship, that Ethan wondered in awe how other people did this all the time.
"Sir we have just finished with half of the prioirty one systems," a crewman said handing Ethan a PADD.
"Okay thank you," Ethan said as he checked over the information that was just handed to him.
