OFF: If you didn't catch it, there was one final post by myself in the Assailant return thread just to throw some closure out there. When you're ready, please post yourselves arriving at the briefing as requested in that last post. Either later tonight or tomorrow I will post the beginning of the briefing itself. Hope everyone's ready to get back to work

*Festivities over, the job once more begins. Deis stands up from her readyroom desk as the ship speeds out once more into the great mostly unknown. She reads over the mission points on a padd as she paces from window to desk, back and forth. Pirates. What are the odds. She looks resolutly out the port window, scowling a bit then she nods to her own reflection. She turns, straightens her uniform with a short jerk, and carrying the padd with her, exits her readyroom*
Savot stood in front of the Captain's chair as he had the bridge. He rarely took the seat itself if it wasn't necessary. Captain Irae was not long sequestered in her ready room before coming back out onto the bridge, and Savot mentally ticked off the passing of but 10.3 minutes, leaving only a few remaining before the scheduled briefing. Savot noted the pad in her hand and presumed the details of the mission were contained therein, but he would find out in time, and as such he remained content to stand at his post until otherwise ordered.
*Deis face lights in a bit of a smile for her First Officer as she steps onto her bridge. She finally feels at home there. Even moreso with the people she has behind her. She waves off the usual "captain on the bridge" bit and walks straight to the Vulcan.* Well. Seems we be 'avin work t do Commander. Were already on th coordinates this may be interestin. *she hands over the padd for a quick perusal by her first, to get his thoughts on it before heading to the briefing*
Taking the padd from his Captain, the vulcan commander takes in the information. Raising his right brow about mid-way through the reading, his face was entirely neutral upon reaching the end. He returned the padd and tilted his head slightly as he regarded the Captain. "An unlikely mathematical coincidence, though from my knowledge of the region I see no forthcoming reason for the two to be connected. Perhaps we will discover more upon our arrival in-system."
Ye took th words righ outa me mouth Savot. *smirking slightly as thats not the way she would have said it but the principal is essentially the same. She retakes the padd and turns to one of the lesser Lt Commanders on bridge* Mr. Corbin take th bridge. Helm, steady as she goes. Mr. Savot, ye are wi me. *nodding around and then heading for the doorway that whooshes open to let her and her Commander into the observation lounge*
=/\=Attention. Staff briefin in 15 minutes in th Observation Lounge. Irae out=/\=

Commander Parsons finished what he was doing at the tactical station as the Captain and First Officer exited the bridge for the briefing room. A young looking Lieutenant hovered nearby in anticipation of the CTSO leaving the tactical display. His uniform bore the markings of a Tactical Officer.
"Lieutenant," Parsons said simply as he looked up briefly before heading for the Conference room. The junior officer nodded and took Adam's place. The CTSO took his seat at the large conference table with his two superiors, confident Zimmerman and the other department heads would be arriving shortly.

Judd stood in Main Engineering, at the railing surrounding the massive warp core, which now thrummed with power. His eyes were critically watching the energy output levels. At one point, he touched a control, made a minute adjustment, and watched for a moment longer. Finally, he was satisfied that the core was running at peak effeciency. He started to turn to an evaluation of the recently-restarted computer core when he was interrupted by the announcement from the Captain.
I was wonderin' how long that would take, he thought. He turned to an Ensign. "Jenkins, I gotta go to this kaffeklatch with the Captain. You're in charge till I get back. Keep a lid on things," he concluded. He stopped briefly at his office to pick up a PADD for note-taking, then made his way to the Observation Lounge.
On arrival he saw that the Captain, XO, and CTSO were already present. Of the three, he had not yet met the captain, so he decided that a proper introduction was in order. "Captain?" he said in his Tennessee drawl. "I'm Lieutenant Junior Grade Judd Sandage, yer new Chief Engineerin' Officer."
<TAG Deis>
Judd nodded politely to the XO and CTSO, and stopped at the replicator for a glass of water before taking his seat at the table, with his PADD in front of him, ready to take notes.

*Deis was setting up the viewer and integrating the padds information into the computer when the doors woosh open to admit her new Chief Engineer. She smiles, not having met him yet. When she steps up to him one can only notice that she is an exceptionally petite and rather short woman. Standing at a mere 5 feet tall. She reaches out and shakes his hand* Good t be meetin ye Mr. Sandage. I be sure ye will do me ship justice.
*Her voice lilts in a feminine irishness that cannot be disguised behind her clipped and professional tone. Her handshake is as firm as any captains though and she looks over her new man. nodding. He will do well here she thinkg*
I be lookin foreward t yer work on me ships engines. We've 'as need o a good engineer fer some time now. Please take ye a seat an we will begin shortly.

((continuation of earlier post)) *Deis waits the requisite 15 minutes and watches all her officers filter into the observation lounge one by one. She greets each of them with a small smile and a nod for them to take a seat. When everyone has taken their seats and shared greetings and gotten whatever refreshment they choose the Captain stands up from her chair and approaches the viewer. She touches a key on her padd and sends an image of part of the system and the planet itsself, then begins to explain*
Our destination be th Migorus 3 System. Tis a heavily planeted system but nae all of em be livable. Only one t be precice. *she motions to the extremly green planet, a few storms obvious from the viewer* Th Planet Verdatii.
Seems thar be a plague tha 'as effected th plant growth on th planets surface. Their food supply comes from th surface itsself and thar be a drop in breathable oxygen an gasses due t th plants dyin off. Th cause is as yet unknown an weve been asked t be helpin in any way we can fer th now. Verdatii is a verra valuable planet. Most o th new medical drugs come from this planet as its unusual plantlife be a near treasure trove o life. This be nae th first order o business though. Supplies an ships cannae be gettin through t th planet t offer relief or even offer research t try t end this plague due t *pausing signifigantly* Pirate activity. Thus far 8 supply ships 'ave been attacked. 5 o em 'ave simply dissappeared. Th o'er three managed t escape t bring th information. Th pirates themselves be unknown as any known organization. Tis our first duty t deal wi these pirates an secure th way fer research an supply ships. Weve been ordered t capture an detain wha vessels we can. Investigate. Destroy em if necessary. Tis verra serious. This mission will be dangerous...tis why our promethius El Salvador was sent. Once weve secured th area, then Headquarters may be able t be gettin research ships through. Questions an suggestions Gentlemen?
*Deis leans forth with the verdantly bright planet haloing her head from behind. Her hands rest on the table as she waits for the inevitable questions and suggestions, finding them important to begin.*

Judd leaned forward and took a sip of water. "Do we have any information on what type or types of ships these 'pirates' are usin', Captain?" he asked. "It could be useful to know what their capabilities are." Curiously, Judd's nervousness seemed to fade now that there was something important to get down to.

At the mention of pirates in the briefing, Adam turned to Commander Savot and in his best impersonation of ancient Earth pirates said, "Pirates, Arrrrrgh, Aye Matey?"
Savot turned to Parsons, and with a distinctly unamused expression, raised one eyebrow and stared at the CTSO a moment before turning his attention back to the Captian.
Parsons sunk in his chair a little and decided to focus on the rest of the briefing and wrestle the other phrases like "shiver me timbers" and "the scalleywags" out of his mind. He could joke about the pirates later with others that might be more receptive to his humor.
After the Captain had concluded her remarks, Lieutenant Sandage piped in, "Do we have any information on what type or types of ships these 'pirates' are usin', Captain? It could be useful to know what their capabilities are."
"Agreed," Parsons added. "Do we have any intelligence on these...pirates...at all?"

The call to return to the El Salvador and Ethan was the very first person to report back in. It had just happened that Ethan was on the bridge when Commander Savot and Captain Irae called everyone back. The only strange thing that Ethan had done during this R&R was get a strange letter from Jere. He would read it as soon as he could. "Well someone doesn't have to report back in," Ethan mused a bit to loudly which caught his superiors attention. <Tag Deis/Savot> Ethan laughed a bit and went back to work on some system check ups. When the Captain informed them that they had one hour to report for a senior staff meeting, Ethen took this time to return to his quarters and read Jere's letter. He was hoping that it was a happy one, telling him how much fun he was having, but it wasn't anything like that. It was extrememly strange and Ethan immediately wrote back to his best friend. As Ethan re read the letter, he contacted Jere. He knew something was wrong with him and he would have to find out why. "Jere what is wrong? I got your letter and it was extremely vague. What is wrong, tell me. You have told me everything, you first came out to me, so I know that you can tell me anything. Jere, I thought I had read the Ves was out on mission, but you were not there. It's something serious. Contact me at 2300 my time when you get this. Love Ethan [/right] The message sent Ethan took a big breath of air and walked back slowly to the briefing room. Thinking what could be wrong with his friend. These thoughts were pushed back into his head when the briefing started, but pretty soon they crept back in. He would have to study the mission briefing over once he got back to duty.

*Deis looks around the room as the few questions comes in. She smiles faintly at her new Chief of Engineering and gives what scraps of information she has. The types of ships flip across the screen. Only two of them are actual images of ships taken by various ships that managed to escape the system*
These "romantic businessmen" ave been seen t use Durance class Cargo tugships. Tis also been spoke tha a few older type bird o prey ships been seen bout. We know tha th USS Veridian, a Oberth class science ship 'as been taken. Tis me 'ope tha we will find tha ship intact. Hopefully wi crew. Tis nae way o knowin wha they got beyond tha. Few ships 'ave escaped t tell th tale. Tha is why "we", one o th most powerful ships in th fleet, 'ave been sent out. We should be able t 'andle anything they throw a' us. If nae...well then we will worry bout tha later. *giving a little chuckle to show she was joking about the last bit. Her confidence in the El Salvador and its crew being the utmost*
*she cant help but laugh at Parsons pirate accenting, and also the lifted brow on Savots face as reaction. The two together makes her have to take a breath to keep from busting out laughing. She sends a slight wink of acknowledgement to Hope, he having followed her and Savot inside, but remained quiet during the briefing*
*She stands before the table with her hands clasped behind her back and then continues* Th only real intelligence we have is tha' they call themselves the Serafyn Blades. We dinnae know th significance o th name. Tha is our job Gentlemen. We need t be findin tha out.
If thar be nae more questions. We can be gettin t work.
Mr. Sandage. *smiling a bit* gimme a full diagnostic on all warp systems an bring em t me readyroom when complete. I want me El Sal to be workin a' 'er best fer this.
Mr. Parsons. I wan full security dispersal durin this mission. 'Ave yer personell be ready a' any given moment t raise shields. An fight if necessary. Weve just dealt wi persons tha could transport through our shields.
Mr Hope...*ahem* Mr Hope? *looking at him and seeing that he appears to be rather distracted* be sommat wrong Lieutenant? *she looks at the man with a brow raised* Tis important tha ye have an eye on our ops a' ALL times.
Zimmerman. Ye will be our liasion wi th Verdatian people. Im puttin ye on this plague problem unless yer services are needed more shipwise.
Mr. Savot...ye are wi me.
Dismissed Gentlemen. *With the acceptance of the various orders Deis nods and then clicks off the viewer. Nodding to her First she turns and leaves the observation lounge, stepping out into her bridge and taking her seat.*

Judd sat up a bit straighter at this. "Aye aye, Cap'n, I'll jump right on 'er!"
The moment the meeting was dismissed, Judd briskly walked out and returned to main engineering. "Alright folks, gather 'round a minute." When the crew gathered, he continued. "The Cap'n wants a full diagnostic on all of our warp drive systems. We're potentially goin' into harm's way, so I want back-ups for our back-ups. Y'all got that?" With a general murmur of assent, Judd concluded with, "Let's get at 'er!" The engineering crew scattered to their tasks, and Judd headed for the Master Situation Console.

Parsons left the mission briefing with purpose. He stopped briefly at the bridge's tactical station to program an announcement for a meeting of his security personnel in the security office.
As he rode the turbolift downward, the computer's voice announced, "All security officers report to the security office for a briefing in 10 minutes." The message repeated once more and terminated. The CTSO arrived at his office a short time later and made a few preparations before the first of his officers arrived. As the last few trickled in, Parsons briefed the officers on the current mission, reviewed Starfleet Security's protocols on dealing with pirates, and answered a few questions.
The relatively young Chief of Security divided the ship into patrol sectors with increased security in roving pairs and stationary guards near important systems and areas of the ship.
Parsons returned to the bridge to find all in order. He relieved the Ensign from the tactical station and opened the case he had brought up from the security office. Adam then discretely made his way around the bridge, passing out Type II phasers to the stations of bridge officers who wanted them. When he was finished the CTSO took his seat at the tactical station and prepared a brief report for the Captain.

Judd sat in his office in Main Engineering, looking over the preliminary reports that were already beginning to trickle in on the status of the warp systems, when for some inexplicable reason he looked up, and noticed what a cavern Main Engineering really was. It occured to him that, if any Pirates worth the name were to attempt a boarding action, this would be one of the places they would attempt to capture early. He had no doubt that there would be extra security posted to critical areas such as Engineering, but it might help if his people could defend themselves. He hit his commbadge. =/\= Sandage to Commander Parsons, when you have a moment, could you swing by Main Engineering?=/\=

Ethan's thoughts were still elsewhere, but once he heard his name his thoughts came back to reality. It wasn't his name but the *ahem* from the Captain that got Ethan's attention.
Mr Hope...*ahem* Mr Hope? *looking at him and seeing that he appears to be rather distracted* be sommat wrong Lieutenant? *she looks at the man with a brow raised* Tis important tha ye have an eye on our ops a' ALL times.
Ethan turned a new shade of red and pink. Being chastised for not paying attention was not something he would ever do. If his mother was here, she would of popped him over the head. Luckily not many saw his frustration and embarrassment. Ethan was still thinking about his friend, but he knew that as of right now he had to deal with some important things. The captain was right when she said that he needed to keep an eye on all ops systems.
"Mr. Hope, I except that to be the last time that happens," Captain Irae said stopping Ethan from existing the room. Ethan looked at his captain and tried to smile. She gave off an aura of reassurance, which for some reason helped Ethan a lot.
"Yes ma'am it will never happened again," Ethan said and excused himself from the room. He immediately made his way towards his station, averting the eyes of the other senior officers.
"Captain we are ready to go, but we are receiving a communique from a Federation shuttle, it's caring our new doctor," Ethan said now breathing a bit harder than usual.
"Is anything wrong Lt.?" Captain Irae asked.
"No ma'am, nothing is wrong at all," Ethan said now smiling from ear to ear.
OOC: Captain I used your character a bit, I hope that you don't mind. If you do please tell me.

*Deis watches the Engineer and Security chiefs go about their business and gives Hope a softer smile, softening her reprimand once she sees the wild smile on his face in responce to the shuttle making ready to dock with us. Such a change in mood can mean only one thing he knows the person comming with the shuttle. She nods to herself and then addresses the Lieutenant* Well thentha must be our new CMO. *taking a look at the padd* Please go down t th shuttle bay an meet this new member o th crew Mr. Hope. Commander Savot can man yer station until ye get 'im settled in t quarters. 'Ave him report in t me readyroom as soon as hes settled.
*She dismisses Hope and looks down to her console when it beeps. The preliminary security report is comming in from Parsons console even as hes called to Engineering to arm the crew in there. Normally everyone armed would make her rather nervous but with space corsairs shes not taking any chances. It threatens to distract her for a moment but she gets back down to work. The dispersal of security personell is more than adequateshe likes the way Parsons does things. Another beep sounds as the first bits of diagnostic information comes over her console. She nods thinking things are going rather well at the beginning of what could be a rather difficult mission*
*She looks over her shoulder for a moment, back at Mr. Savot sitting in his old spot...it makes her smile briefly before she turns back to reading the reports. Finishing them she stands up from her chair and straightens her uniform. She will probably have to tell this new CMO about her personal research stations. She usually does. She hopes the man will be zealous about his position as she was when she first joined the El Salvador. Knowing she has much to do she turns to her First and says*
Mr. Savot. Man th bridge from yer present station til Hope gets th Doctor set up. Ill be in me ready room. When were approachin th destination please be lettin me know.
*its odd...she knows that he has something in mind, research probably. So she nods and leaves him to it knowing he will report to her what he finds. Its that strange understanding shes had with him since the listening station mission. Plus she knows the man so well at this point she understands. She leaves the bridge after recieving his, "yes captain" and wooshes into her readyroom.*
*She strides to her replicator and orders up* Coffee. milk an sugar, hot please. *then snorts at herself for saying please to a replicator. She takes her beverage, sipping from it immediatly and then taking her desk seat. Work awaits her there, reports from other areas. The science areas already running scans even though we havent reached the destination yet. A good crew they are, all of them*

[On board a transport heading for the USS El Salvador]
Jere had finally gotten past the things he had been faced with Chrystalias appearance. It hurt him deeply to have been fooled the way he had been. The fact that he was something more than what he had been led to believe since childhood hurt.
He had taken the last transport off of SBB when he had finally gotten the OK to join the USS El Salvador. He sat beside the pilot of the transport, the rear of the craft full of supplies for the ship.
Jere tapped the console and sent a message to the El Salvador alerting them of his impending arrival and when he could be expected. Glad to hear his friends voice on the other end of the communiqué.
[Meeting with the USS El Salvador]
Jere smiled hearing Ethan’s voice on the other end of the Comm. At least this time he was going to be on board with a friend and not having to face things alone.
He picked up his duffle bag and waited while the transport made ready to land. He hoped that Ethan would meet him but even if he didn’t Jere know that he’d get to talk to him before the day was out.
After the transport had landed and the door opened, he stepped out onto what he hoped would be his last change in duty station. He was tired of bouncing around from one place to another.

After Parsons was back on the bridge, he received a message from the Chief Engineer requesting the CTSOs presence in Engineering. "Understood, Lieutenant, I will be there shortly," was the reply.
Commander Parsons finished what he was doing and headed to Engineering. He planned to meet with Lt. Sandage and then perhaps meet the new Chief Medical Officer on his way back to the bridge.

Post by Savot on Apr 29, 2006 6:08:13 GMT
Savot acknowledged the Captain's orders as she exitted to her ready room. Having taken a temporary seat at young Hope's Ops station, he took the time to do some further research while Ethan welcomed the new Doctor aboard and got him situated. As he began entering search parameters he accepted with a nod of thanks a phaser from Parsons who was distributing them amongst the bridge officers for defense purposes. Turning back to the console, the vulcan tried to procure a wider base of background data on those calling themselves the Serafyn Blades.
Savot began by inputting the Migorus 3 system as a loose epicenter of his inquiries. He then began to search Federation and civilian record banks for reports of ship theft or related activity beginning 5 years past. He couldn't trust the group name itself to link to all the potential results as in the beginning of their exploits they likely hadn't assumed a name, or if they had they were not known well enough in their first exploits to have been recognized in the reports.
The Durance class Cargo tugships were the best bet as an initial reference point for cross-referencing piracy reports, as they were the oldest of the ship models the pirates were known to possess. Some of the Birds of Prey in question could be older than the tugs, but old Klingon materials were rather easy to acquire through public purchases and as such would not be easily traced to a particular buyer. Additionally, the Bird of Prey's cloaking ability would make the probability of any escapees significantly slimmer.
The full research would take another few hours at least, but the initial results that matched both the vicinity and the older style ships involved were mainly supply raids rather than full-scale ship theft. This made sense though since in their early operations they wouldn't have had the manpower to 1) afford the potentially losses of assaulting a ship with a boarding party, or 2) sufficiently staff any extra vessels that they did steal. The reports seemed to suggest the logical presumption that in the early operations the pirates used intimidation to force mechant vessels to eject their cargo to avoid being destroyed.
Following this line of logic it was likely the pirates had some kind of local base of operations where they both stored their stolen supplies and repaired vessels as their exploits became more and more risky. As more reports came in, Savot could begin to try and pinpoint a possible radius for the base's location. As the vulcan First Officer looked up from the operations console, the helmsman beside him called out to him, "Entering the Migorus 3 system."
Savot nodded acknowledgement, "Slow to impulse". He then tapped his commbadge and gave his report to the open air of the bridge, =^= Savot to Captain. We have arrived at the Migorus system.=^=

Judd looked up from the panel he was examining as the doors to Main Engineering whooshed open, admitting the CTSO. "Commander Parsons," Judd said as he turned to greet the man," good of you to get here so promptly."
<Commander Parsons>
""I imagine you're fairly busy, so I'll get right onto the point. Seein' as how we're goin' to be dealin' with pirates who're known for hijackin' ships, it seems to me that one of the first places any potential ship-napper'd want to get hold of is Main Engineering. Now I figure you're already planning to post some extra security around such areas as this, bit I thought it might be a good idea if we could arm at least some of us folks here in Engineering. Then, they could not only protect each other, but it'd be sort of a supplement to your security forces, until proper back-up arrives. What do ya think, Commander?"

Ethan was beeming all the way down to the docking bay. He had to wait a couple of minutes for the shuttle to actually dock before he was allowed inside. He never thought that Jere would be assigned to the same ship as he.
After a couple of more minutes of waiting the shuttle doors opened and Jere stepped onto the USS El Salvador.
Jere smiled seeing his friend was the one who had been sent to meet him. “Glad it’s you Ethan, and not someone else.” He clapped his friend on the shoulder. “How’s shipboard life treating you?
"Hello Jere," Ethan said as he grabbed him and gave him a hug. He knew it might be akward, but he did not care. Jere was his best friend."Life is pretty good right now, we are on route to our next mission, but enough about me, tell me about yourself."
Jere returned the hug before pulling away. “What’s the next mission about Ethan?” he asked, totally ignoring the question about how he was doing. That would come soon enough, for both of them.
Ethan couldn't help, but turn a shed of red at the question. He didn't know either. His mind had been elsewhere during the briefing, but Jere didn't need to know about that. "Some pirates, I think. By the way I'm here to get you situated and then escort you to the bridge Mr. Opet," Ethan said smiling.
Jere read Ethans expression and stray thoughts enough to chuckle. “Day dreaming again were you?” He motioned for Ethan to lead the way. “Go ahead, I’ll let you play my guide.” He was still chuckling about Ethans memory lapse as they left the shuttle bay.
Ethan would let Jere keep on thinking that it was a memory laspe and not his complete state of worry in Jere. His last letter told him that something was really wrong and Ethan wanted to know what that was, but it seemed that Jere didn't want to. "Yeah you know me and my day dreams," Ethan said as he left the docking bay and headed towards the lift.
The two rode the lift in almost total silence as each grew lost in their own thoughts. When the door opened Jere ended the silence. “Take me to your leader.” He joked with Ethan before growing serious once they stepped from the lift onto the bridge.
"Our great and wise leader has been expecting you Doctor Opet," Ethan said laughing a bit and then entering the bridge. "The ready room is right there and after your done, I can show you your sickbay and then quarters."
Jere chuckled as he looked around the bridge. "I can't wait." he winked at Ethan before growing serious again. The chime sounded in the Ready Room as he tapped the button.
OOC: This was a JP between myself and Jere.

Judd looked up from the panel he was examining as the doors to Main Engineering whooshed open, admitting the CTSO. "Commander Parsons," Judd said as he turned to greet the man," good of you to get here so promptly."
"No problem," replied Parsons. "What's up?"
"I imagine you're fairly busy, so I'll get right onto the point.
"I think that's an excellent idea, Lieutenant," Parsons said lifting a small case onto the console in front of him. The CTSO opened the case to reveal several phasers.
"I was hoping you would feel that way, so I stopped by the security office on my way down. I will leave these in your capable hands to distribute as you see fit. In addition, I have ordered two teams of two men each to be stationed in Engineering at all times during this mission. Roaming patrols will also be passing through periodically. Is there anything else I can do for you, Lieutenant?"

Judd grinned and patted the case. "I think that just about covers it, Commander. Thanks for comin' down so promptly."
Judd watched as the CTSO nodded and left to attend to other duties, then Judd began quietly distributing the phasers to personnel at strategically located stations, and kept one for himself as well. He left a standing order that, for the duration of this mission, the Engineering presonnel to whom phasers were issued, should turn the phaser over to their relief person at shift-change.
Then, as Judd walked toward his office, he stopped, and turned. There was an idea tickling the back of his brain. He looked up and around the cavernous room, then spotted what he had been looking for. Force-field emitters, he thought. Then his eyes fell on the massive and very vital warp core as it thrummed with power.

Jere chuckled as he looked around the bridge. "I can't wait." he winked at Ethan before growing serious again. The chime sounded in the Ready Room as he tapped the button.
"Enter", came the muffled reply from behind the ready room doors. At her confirming call the doors whooshed open to admit the new young officer to the Captain's Ready Room. Deis stood from her chair and walked to the other side of her table extending a hand to the new Doctor. "Doctor Opet, welcome aboard. I hope the trip out t' meet us wasnae too bad."
(Tag Opet if you want to insert any specific reaction)
"T'will be a comfort t' have a fully rated MD onboard again. It's nae always convenient for the Captain to flee the bridge in th' middle o' somethin' t' go patch someone up", she ended with a small grin. "I hope ye'll find it to yer liking t' stay with us, but that's for each man an' woman to decide for themselves. What I can do is assure ye ye've got the best medical staff in the fleet servin' under ye. Most of the ones I worked with as CMO are still aroun' and I'm sure they'll serve ye well. If ye 'ave any questions or concerns as ye settle in ye can come directly t' me given my familiarity with the job."
(Tag, any desired input from Jere)
Deis was about to speak again when the intercomm chime interrupted her attempt, =^= Savot to Captain. We have arrived at the Migorus system.=^=
Deis tapped her badge and replied, =^= Very good, Commander. I'm on my way.=^= She then turned back to Ethan and her new Chief Medical Officer, "Excuse me Doctor, duty calls. Why don't ye get yerself settled and take a look at sickbay. I need Mr. Hope back at 'is station for the now but if ye need any further assistance ye may ask Commander Savot."
The Captain exitted her Ready Room with another whoosh of the doors with Doctor Opet behind her, breaking off to head for the turbolift. Deis took her seat, nodded to the front of the bridge, "Helm, slow to impulse."
The pinpricks of starlight shrank back to normal spots of light dotting the endless black of space, and a number of planetary bodies became minutely visible upon the viewscreen. Deis began setting her team in motion as they approached the area of their interest, "Helm, bring us into high orbit above Verdatii. Mr. Zimmerman, hail the planet, if ye can reach any remaining scientific teams get their situation report on the status of the flora plague."
Those two set to work, the Captain turned in her chair slightly towards the tactical station behind her, "Mr. Parsons, gimme a heavy scan o' the area and see if any other ships are in range. If'n ye find any, contact any that'll answer and determine if they've seen anythin' amiss between the time of our original piracy report and our arrival now. Mr. Hope, divide your efforts between assisting Zimmerman and Parsons with their scans."
Savot rose to return the Ops station to Lieutenant Hope and sat himself at one of the auxiliary science consoles to continue his research. With the duties set in motion, the El Salvador crew went to their tasks not only to save the ailing planet beneath them, but to avoid falling victim themselves...
(OFF: Posted on the Captain's behalf as she's under the weather the past few days. With luck she should be back to normal by the end of the weekend, but rest assured we'll continue normally regardless until she's able to rejoin us.)

((Hi everyone! Since I had posted earlier in another Sim...I am just going to assume I have been here the whole time. Consider Zoë having been at the briefing and such )) Zoë hurried up to the bridge. The doors swooshed open and some looked up briefly from their tasks as she entered. The Captain gave her a slight nod as she took a seat at the Environ console. Zoë wanted to be on the bridge when they arrived so she could get a good idea of what they were dealing with. Zoë had pulled up the crew manifests from the missing ships and familairizing herself with them. While the other crew were responsible for getting them back she was responsible for their well being once they found them. She noted nothing unusual about the manifests and finished her few notes and then looked out into the black at the vastness of space. Her repsonsibilities would also entail diplomatic duties so Zoë had also taken the time to read up on the planet and make sure she had a good idea of what they might find on the planet so she would have some familiarity in case she needed to negotiate for some reason. She knew what she did was important to the crew but she often felt a little less proactive than the rest of the crew. She didn't run a ship system to keep it running like engineering, ops or technical. She didn't see to the health of the crew like medical and she didn't do reasearch like science. Still it was her job to keep the crew happy and try to amke all social interactions go smoother and she supposed that was a noble goal. Zoë glanced at the readouts that flashed by the Environ console and waited, like everyone else for the next move.

Parsons returned to the bridge from Engineering and took his station. A short while later, the Captain entered the bridge and gave orders for a thorough scan of the area and hailing of all ships in the system.
Parsons began scanning and contacting a few freighters on their way to and from Verdatii. None of them had seen any signs of the pirates, but all were familiar with the rumors and the reports of missing ships and hijackings. The CTSO continued his scans in conjunction with Lt. Commander Zimmerman.
Turning to the command chair, "Captain, so far no sign of piracy or unusual scans. Continuing to scan the area."
