Ethan wished Jere good luck with his interview with the Captain and made his way back to his station. Ethan was a bit perplexed when the Captain told him to stay in the briefing room. Ethan stayed quiet while the captain asked Jere questions about himself and his career about being a doctor.
The interview finished quickly because the El Sal had reached its destination already. Ethan was surprised, but relieved. After re-reading the mission report he understood that this mission was extremely important and that many people were depending on them.
"Excuse me Doctor, duty calls. Why don't ye get yerself settled and take a look at sickbay. I need Mr. Hope back at 'is station for the now but if ye need any further assistance ye may ask Commander Savot."
"Talk to you later, Jere," Ethan said as he followed the Captain onto the bridge. Ethan quickly took his station and began scans of the system and the planet.
The Captain gave out her orders and the rescue effort began. Ethan was running multple scans on the planet, but was not having any luck finding the scientific teams that were on the planet. It seemed that Commander Zimmerman was not having any luck as well.
"Commander Zimmerman, should we try low frequiency channles, it is possible that they do not have enough power to keep there communications systems working at full power," Ethan said.
<Tag Zimmerman>
Ethan was about to start more scans, but Commander Parsons reported that there was no sign of any other ships. This didn't sit well with Ethan, they could easily be hiding in the system. Just to make sure, he decided to run ongoing scans of the system.

[Ready Room]
Jere was about to salute when the Captain held out her hand and spoke.
"Doctor Opet, welcome aboard. I hope the trip out t' meet us wasnae too bad."
He smiled as he took her hand in his and shook it in greeting. “Thank you Captain, the trip wasn’t all that bad.” he said as she continued.
"T'will be a comfort t' have a fully rated MD onboard again. It's nae always convenient for the Captain to flee the bridge in th' middle o' somethin' t' go patch someone up", she ended with a small grin. "I hope ye'll find it to yer liking t' stay with us, but that's for each man an' woman to decide for themselves. What I can do is assure ye ye've got the best medical staff in the fleet servin' under ye. Most of the ones I worked with as CMO are still aroun' and I'm sure they'll serve ye well. If ye 'ave any questions or concerns as ye settle in ye can come directly t' me given my familiarity with the job."
He couldn’t suppress a slight chuckle at her brogue, now THAT would take some getting used to.
Their interview was interrupted by the COMM and the Captain rose again speaking as she motioned to the door, indicating the end of their meeting.
"Excuse me Doctor, duty calls. Why don't ye get yerself settled and take a look at sickbay. I need Mr. Hope back at 'is station for the now but if ye need any further assistance ye may ask Commander Savot."
“Thank you Captain.” Jere said as they exited the ready room. He nodded to Ethan as he made his way across the bridge to the turbolift.
"Talk to you later, Jere," Ethan said as he took his station.
“I’ll be around Ethan, come find me.” Jere said as he entered the lift, the doors closing behind him with a slight sigh.
(I love the accent .. *laughing here* had to read it twice to get it right but loved every minute of it. I look forward to serving on this ship.)

The bridge was an organized flood of activity as all stations were actively put to use in an effort to shed light on the mysteries that lay before the El Salvador and her crew. Zimmerman and Hope were scanning the planet, while Parsons concentrated on scanning the surrounding space itself for any clues as to the pirate whereabouts.
Savot sat at an unassigned console along the bridge wall about 20 degrees right of the viewscreen from the Captain's point of view, working to cover the bases not already under surveillance by other members of the crew. His mind particularly curious as to the fate of the Starfleet science vessel that had been stationed here to examine the plague, he began a slow, specific scan of regions that would be difficult to read with a normal sensor sweep.
Given that the Veridian was an Oberth class vessel assigned specifically to aid the planetary science personnel with their plague research, it was logical to conclude that any trace of the ship would be in close proximity to the planet. In addition, given that the planet itself and the surrounding open space had already been scanned, that left the two poles as the most likely candidates for information. The high concentration of magnetic fields at those points would create a natural dampening effect on all but the most intensive of sensor scans, and though the El Salvador was designed for combat rather than research, Savot was familiar enough with her systems over years of service that he knew how to tweak the necessary parameters and get a decent reading.
The ship, in high orbit, already had a scan angle ready on the northern magnetic pole, though after an hour of intensive scanning it was clear that nothing was present at that location. It took awhile for the ship to naturally orbit far enough to get an angle on the southern pole, but Savot waited it out patiently and initiated the scan when they were in position. For the first half-hour nothing of interest appeared, but shortly thereafter his sensors pinged off of a metallic object in low orbit drifting ever closer towards the planet's atmosphere and total destruction.
Savot spun at his station to inform the Captain, seated in her chair, "Captain, metallic object located in planet's southern pole. Unable to confirm due to magnetic interference, though I would assign a high probability to it's being the recorder log from the Veridian. If there were time at all to leave a record of what they had seen, a science vessel Captain would have chosen this as the location to hide the device from pirate detection."
Deis ordered a magnetized view of the object on the main viewer, and sure enough, it appeared to be the standard Federation design of a ship's recorder log, to be jettisoned in case of probable destruction or capture of a vessel so that any who located it would have at hand the latest knowledge and experience of the lost vessel. She gave orders without taking her eyes off the screen, merely tilting her mouth slightly to angle her voice, "Commander Parsons, lock on a tractor beam an' haul that object high enough out of the planet's magnetic fields for the transporters t' get a clear signal. Lieutenant Hope, have a team ready in Cargo bay 2 to set an uplink to our computers, then download and evaluate the log's contents at your station."
As the blue beam snatched at the object and began to lift it from the upper atmosphere of the planet, Captain Irae hit the comm button on her chair arm and signalled Engineering, =^= Bridge t' Engineering. Lieutenant Sandage, we're haulin' in what looks t' be the Veridian's recorder log. I want ye to give it a solid goin' over for any signs of energy residue or the like. If the Veridian was attacked by the pirates, which is the most likely explanation for 'er absence, then we might can determine what kind of weapons were used to disable her. Report to the bridge when ye've got somethin'. Irae out. =^=

Judd sat up from a laying position on a gantry positioned near the top of the warp core, where he was putting the finishingtouches on upgrades to the force-field emitters, and tapped his commbadge. =/\=Aye aye, Cap'n, we'll jump right on 'er! Sandage out!=/\=
Finally, something meaningful to do for the mission, Judd thought to himself. He levered himself to his knees and crawled over to the ladder, then climed down to the deck. "Alpha Team, gather round!" he called. When the six people met him at the Situation table, he continued. "The Captain's haulin' up what they think is the flight recorder from our missin' ship. and wants us to give it a good goin' over for energy residue and such-like. Get the gear we'll need and meet me in Cargo Bay 2. Get movin!" He turned to an Ensign. "Reese, you're in charge while I'm gone. I need you to finish that upgrade I was workin' on up yonder," he said, pointing to the gantry near the top of the warp coil. "I'll be in Cargo Bay 2. Holler if there's any problems." Judd hurried to his office, grabbed a toolkit and a tricorder, and beat a hasty path to Cargo Bay Two.

Jere rode the turbolift downwards towards his quarters. He was excited to finally be on board a ship where he already felt comfortable. The trip downwards didn’t take long and neither did the hunt for his quarters. Thankfully he’d checked the schematics and the ships roster before coming aboard. He smiled as he entered his quarters and saw the rest of his belongings waiting for him. He spent the next 45 minutes unpacking and getting settled. He wasn’t due to begin working til the next shift so knew he had time to play with.
This would give him enough time to settle and enjoy some quiet plus go check out sickbay prior to his duty shift.

Judd arrived in Cargo Bay Two just as his team from Engineering were settng up their equipment. JUdd left them to their work, and waked over to a control console. There, he called up the tractor beam controls and ran a quick diagnostic. The tractor emitters were functioning normally. Judd looked up from the controls, and saw that his team was finished setting up their equipment, and running their own diagnostics.
Judd walked over to Ensign Patricia Dawkins, the elf-featured young woman in charge of Alpha Team. He almost grinned as he saw her resist the urge to snap to attention. "Diagnostics are complete, sir. Everything checks out, and we're ready to get to work!" she reported in ringing tones.
Now Judd did grin. "Relax, Patty, this ain't the Hepta, y'know," he said. "I ain't gradin' yer term paper." She blushed a bit, but grinned also. Judd gave her a pat on the arm, then tapped his commbadge as he walked back to he control console. =/\=Sandage to Bridge, Cargo Bay Two is ready to recieve the package,=/\= he reported.

Zoe tried to helpa s much as she could. She wanted to remain on the bridge and be privy to any information that came about. After a few minutes of this she realized her best use of time might be going over the dossiers for the crew of the ship that went missing. It might turn up something useful. It also might not hurt to check on the El Sal's crew manifests as well, just incase. She liked to try and be aware if there were going to be any potential problems before they came up. She turned to the Captain.
"Permission to leave the Bridge, ma'me? I'd like to go over some dossiers."
The Captain gave her a nod and a wave "Permission granted. I'll call you if anything comes up Counselor."
Zoe nodded and moved off the Bridge to the lift and taking it to her office. Settling down with a coffee from the replicator, she prepared for a long read. It all seemed pretty standard and nothing out of the ordinary. Zoe would go over it again though, just in case, something seemed off about these numbers.

Parsons locked a tractor beam onto the fallen object and towed it out of the planets atmosphere per the Captain's orders. The object was then held in place until Mr. Sandage had a chance to set up his team and equipment in Cargo Bay 2.
Judd then tapped his commbadge as he walked back to a control console. =/\=Sandage to Bridge, Cargo Bay Two is ready to receive the package,=/\= he reported.
"Very well, Lieutenant, initiating transport," Parsons replied. As he did so, the transporter was activated, beaming the capsule into Cargo Bay 2.
"We have 'er," reported Sandage.
"Acknowledged," responded the Captain. "Begin yer work, please, Mr. Sandage. Contact me as soon as ye know somethin'."

=/\=Aye aye, Cap'n, Sandage out!=/\= Judd replied crisply before turning to his team. "Alright folks, let's get t'work!"
At Judd's order, the team immediately acrivated the scanning equipment, thoroughly scanning every millimeter of the recorder's surface. WHile they worked, Judd found an access panel, which he removed. Peering inside, he saw what he had expected, a download port and a reciever for an external power supply. He scanned the latter with his tricorder and saw that it was in working order, so he attached and activated a portable power cell.
He was interrupted by a voice. "Mister Sandage, you better take a look at this," called Ensign Dawkins.
Judd set down his tools and moved over beside her. "Whatchya got, Patty?" he asked.
The young woman frowned and nodded at the scanning device's readout screen. "Have a look, sir," she said.
Judd did so, and also frowned. The readout said, RESIDUAL ENERGY PATTERN CONSISTENT WITH TYPE II DISRUPTOR. "What in tarnation...this can't be good," he opined, before tapping his commbadge. =/\=Sandage to Bridge...Cap'n, we got somethin' here...I think maybe y'all better come see this for yerself, cos I ain't too sure I believe it for m'self!=/\=

Savot was still seated at one of the auxiliary stations on the bridge when the concerned voice of their new engineer came over the intercomm. =/\=Sandage to Bridge...Cap'n, we got somethin' here...I think maybe y'all better come see this for yerself, cos I ain't too sure I believe it for m'self!=/\= Captain Irae furrowed her brow in curiousity, but even as she turned to face Savot and ask him to go take a look, the vulcan was already on his way to the turbolift. "I will assess the situation and report back presently, Captain." Stepping into the turbolift Savot just had time to see the Irish woman's nod that said without words, "Good man, Savot", before the doors whooshed closed and propelled him toward the Cargo Bay.
More of a gear-grinding sound than the typical whoosh signalled the opening of the Cargo Bay doors as the Vulcan entered to survey the situation. Lieutenant Sandage seemed to have organized the effort rather well, allocating his people in a manner efficient to the job at hand. Nodding to himself in satisfaction at the sight of the new crewmember's apparent skill, Savot located the Chief Engineer standing near the Veridian's recorder log frowning over a PADD.
"You signalled, Lieutenant?", Savot asked as he made his presence known, walking over to stand beside the Engineer. Sandage nodded and let the findings speak for themselves as he handed over the PADD. Looking down at the text displayed upon the object, Savot raised an eyebrow. "Curious indeed. Type 1 disruptors are relatively common and would have been easily procurred through monetary channels if the pirates so endeavoured. Likewise the weapon system often comes as standard armament on the Birds of Prey I believe they have acquired over time. But to acquire the Type 2 grade is something else entirely."
Savot nodded in concurment with the Engineer's concern and tapped his commbadge, =^= Savot to Captain. Residual energy traces show the energy to be that of a Type 2 Disruptor, unable to discern from available evidence whether it was a standard model or pulse version. The evidence of Type 2 Disruptor use suggests one of three most plausible scenarios. The highest probability is that of the pirates having acquired the technology either through a rare purchase opportunity, or possibly having assaulted a transport that was by some flow of events carrying a shipment of Disruptor Type 2. Secondly, referring back to the possibility of shield-penetrating transporter use on the part of the pirates, they may have successfully assaulted a vessel which carries this weapon as a standard armament, most likely either a high-caliber Romulan or Klingon vessel. =^= Savot handed the PADD back to Sandage and clasped his hands behind his back before continuing his theory.
=^=This is possible, but less likely due to both the elite training the crew of such a vessel would have for repelling intruders, and the rarity of such a vessel passing through the section of space in question. The final possibility is that of direct military assistance being offered by a force which utilizes the Type 2 Disruptor as standard armament, Romulan, Klingon, or Cardassian most likely though there are other potential candidates. I believe this possibility to be the least likely as there is little to gain for a major power in assisting such a comparitively small force such as the Serafyn Blades.=^=, Savot finished his report, waiting for the Captain's input.
=^= Tha' still leaves quite a bit unanswered, Commander. We 'ave to garner more information before these [word deleted] come an' ring our bell. I'm assigning Mr. Parsons t' do a cross-reference check on the incoming data from th' recorder along with Mr. Hope. I'm hopin' we c'n pick out some of the Veridian's last few sensor scans from before the recorder's launch and get a glimpse of some of the beasties that nabbed the poor girl. Good work, Mr. Sandage. Keep it comin'.=^=, Captain Irae's voice filled the area around Savot and Sandage as they listened to her take in the report and respond, then she signed off, presumably to give Parsons the orders she just mentioned though he would already have heard her speak them to Savot, leaving the two officers alone with their thoughts beside the scorched ship recorder.
Savot tilted his head slightly as he once again addressed the Engineer, "Quite satisfactory work, Lieutenant. Do you require any assistance before I return to the bridge?"

"...I'm assigning Mr. Parsons t' do a cross-reference check on the incoming data from th' recorder along with Mr. Hope. I'm hopin' we c'n pick out some of the Veridian's last few sensor scans from before the recorder's launch..." Captain Irae replied to Savot's report.
Upon hearing this, Parsons and Hope began sifting through the recorder's sensor data.
The recorder indicated some kind of commotion on the ship related to a boarding or raiding party. The situation on the bridge was frantic. Within minutes of the initial confusion and alert status, the Veridian came under fire from multiple directions. Sensors indicated at least three identifiable ships de-cloak and begin firing; two old Klingon Birds of Prey and a later model Romulan Scout ship.
The CTSO walked over to the Operations station to verify his findings with Lt. Hope. The two officers spoke in hushed tones for a about a minute, before the Captain asked, "Anythin ya be wantin ta share with the rest of us?"
"Yes, Captain, I was just verifying my findings." As Commander Savot came through the turbolift doors Parsons reported what he had learned to Irae.

Judd left the engineering team to finish up with the flight recorder, and returned to Engineering. He had also seen the evidence about the old Klingon & Romulan vessels, and he wanted to make certain that the El Sal's sensors would be able to easily detect the older cloaking devices. They probaly already could, but his Paw had always told him that there was no such thing as being too sure. To that end, he immediately began running Level One diagnostics on the sensors, doing so in groups so that the ship would not be totally sensor-blind. They couldn't afford that.

Judd finally finished the Level One diagnostics on the ship's sensors. Reporting to the Bridge, he went immediately to the Engineering station. "Captain, I have finished the diagnostics on the sensors," he reported. "I am making a few adjustments that will improve our ability to detect cloaked vessels."
As he worked, Judd hummed softly to himself, in deference to the senior officers present, rather than his usual singing. A moment later, his humming stopped in mid-tune as one of the sensors bleeped at him.
Anyone watching Judd just then would have seen the young engineer go pale. The readout said, CLOAKED VESSEL DETECTED, APPROACHING STERN QUARTER, DISTANCE 2350km.
"Cap'n, there's a cloaked ship out there, approachin' from the stern quarter! Distance...now 2100 kilometers!" Judd reported in a shaky voice. Chief Engineer or not, this was the first time he had been in a situation with so much potential for danger.

Ethan had been verifying Commander Parson's results, when the terrible news was announced by Lt. Sundage.
"Cap'n, there's a cloaked ship out there, approachin' from the stern quarter! Distance...now 2100 kilometers!" Judd reported in a shaky voice.
Ethan's head immediately propped up hoping that he was playing a sick joke, but of course he was not.
"Captain, my sensors tell me the same thing, though we cannot tell how many ships there are," Ethan reported," right now I can only see one ship out there."
"Mr. Hope, I need more th'n that," Captain Irae said as the klaxon's went off on the bridge.
"Already on it," Ethan reported as he tried to pinpoint the El Salvador's powerful sensors on the anomalies that were closing in on them.

Parsons heard the warning from the El Sal's Chief Engineer.
"Raising shields," Parsons said as his hands moved across the tactical console.
"Red Alert," instructed the Captain.
The El Sal sat in space with her powerful shields raised. This would surely repel any weapon the pirates might have. The CTSO's main concern wasn't being fired upon; it was being boarded by a raiding party. Remembering that the pirates might have technology that allowed them to transport through shields, Parsons opened an internal communications channel to all security personnel.
"All security personnel should be on high alert. We have detected a cloaked vessel within transporter range. Report unidentified personnel or suspicious activity immediately. Engage armed boarders at will."

Judd's emergency station was in Main Engineering, and so, the instant that Red Alert was called, he bolted for the lift. A moment later, even before the doors were fully open, Judd dashed out and into Main Engineering, which was now a bustle of activity, with all critical stations being double-manned.
Judd immediately started shouting orders. "Stand by for possible multi-Vector mode! Full power on the shield generators and weapons systems! Double-link the cross-overs on the energency power grid!" He hit his commbadge. =/\=Sandage to Auxilliary Engineering rooms, be prepared for Multi-Vector mode!=/\= Almost as an afterthought, Judd quickly dashed into his office and retrieved his phaser. Just in case. He hurried over to the Master Situation Display and saw that things were coming together as they should. even if the ship might be split into three sections.
An alarmed shout drew his immediate attention, and Judd whirled just in time to see what appeared to be a transporter beam. =/\=Sandage to Bridge, intruders beaming into Main Engineering!=/\= he practically shouted as he reached for his phaser. Then he saw that there were multiple beams, each at verious locations around the cavernous Main Engineering deck.
"Repel boarders!" Judd shouted as he dive behind the Situation table, even as the intruders solified. They appeared to be humanoid in form, but it was diffficult to determine their exact species, due to the clothing they wore. They wasted no time, but immediately began firing what looked like a variety of energy weapons as they scattered arond the huge area.

Wolf: Was piloting a shuttle trying to catch up with his new ship The El'Salvador he dropped out of warp just outside the system and was about to make contact when he saw the ensuing battle. he tapped into the ship com system and was shocked to hear whats going on. they had borders, how did they get through the shields. it was time to act but how he was a marine and taking on the alien ship with the shuttle was not a great idea he wasn't that good of a pilot. From what he could gather engineering was in big trouble tapping into the shuttle's computer he found the codes for the El'Salvador sheilds matching the transporter to the shield codes he got up and got his gear on. He programed his weapons not to fire on any one wearing a starfleet combadge. Okay I got everything going to the shuttle controls he programed the shuttle to make a run straight at the alien ship, he didn't think it would do much damage they would shoot down but it might by the bridge crew some time. stepind onto the transporter pad wolf appeared in the engineering section he started firing his phaser rifle the secound he got a green light and took 2 of alien invaders out. there was alot of shooting going on he was trying to figure out what was the purose but kept firing makeing his way towards a senior officer he found Lt Sandage firing away at the invaders " Looks like I"m in time to join the party sorry about crashing but you guys forgot to send me a invite. How many are aboard?"<Tag Sandage>
Wolf looked at the time and contacted the bridge " Bridge this is Lt wolf in about 15 secounds there's going to be a shuttle appearing on your senors there's nobody aboard its programed to make a dead run for the alien ship I dont think it will do much damage but it will draw there attention away from you for a few mins while they try to figure out where it came from"<Tag anyone on the bridge>

Post by Savot on Jun 5, 2006 18:37:29 GMT
Before the bridge crew could fully react to just the presence of the cloaked ship behind them, it seemed the Chief Engineer's voice was already booming over the intercomm, =/\=Sandage to Bridge, intruders beaming into Main Engineering!=/\=
Savot moved to an auxiliary science console and brought up internal sensors. "Captain, sensors indicate 12 intruders in Main Engineering. Lieutenant Sandage and the security personnel are moving to repel." As the vulcan finished speaking, a new blip appeared on the internal sensors within Engineering, but just as the First Officer was about to report it as an additional intruder, the intercomm came to life once more, =^=Bridge this is Lt wolf in about 15 secounds there's going to be a shuttle appearing on your senors there's nobody aboard its programed to make a dead run for the alien ship I dont think it will do much damage but it will draw there attention away from you for a few mins while they try to figure out where it came from. =^=
Savot turned to the Captain with an eyebrow raised in curiousity. Parsons, his eyes having been glued to the tactical display already, spoke without turning his head, "Confirmed Captain, Federation shuttle in theatre on intercept course with the intruders' ship."
Deis nodded firmly to no one in particular, merely reinforcing her own line of thinking, "Alrigh' then. We've been given a distraction, let's be exploitin' it. Parsons, get down t' Engineerin' an' lead yer people. Get our new arrival integrated as well, and ye be ready to take command o' the Battle Bridge in case we need the MVAM. Commander Savot, take over tactical for tha now and persuade tha' ship t' break off its attack." As the Captain finished speaking she unholstered her phaser and kept it in her free hand, though she reasoned that the bridge itself was probably safe from assault as the pirates most likely didn't have the manpower to attack too many multiple fronts, and if they took Engineering they could reroute all the bridge controls through there anyway.
Parsons, split between his desire to fulfill both his tactical and security duties, nonetheless headed for Engineering to lead his team and possibly command the Secondary hull if the El Sal were required to use the MVAM to combat the pirate forces. Savot quickly stepped into place at the tactical station, examining the sensor readouts before deciding upon a course of action. Though Tactical was never his specialized station, he'd had minor experience on a number of ships.
Recognizing the need to capture either the pirates, their vessel, or both for information, Savot set about pursuing that goal. If they destroyed the ship, and were unable to gather sufficient intel from any pirates they managed to capture, they would be exactly where they had started. The Vulcan tapped his fingers along the console in a dual-movement that first sent the aft phasers lancing out towards the ship's approximated location, and then reached out with the aft tractor beam projectors to nudge the newly arrived shuttle slightly to starboard and upward 8.3 degrees. Two of the wide-beam phasers hit the vessel bringing it out of cloak, and the El Salvador viewscreen filled with the image of an old-model Klingon Bird of Prey.
Savot gave his evaluation of the situation, "Captain, given the presence of the Bird of Prey I would surmise that other vessels are en route to other attack vectors as this model ship is designed to be one portion of a mass assault rather than a stand-alone battleship. Lieutenant Hope, Commander Zimmerman, continue scanning the area for additional hostiles." As he finished his report Savot released the aft tractor beam from the shuttle now that its path was confirmed for a direct impact with the Bird of Prey. Members of the bridge crew took brief glances at the viewscreen in the midst of their immediate duties, and watched the shuttlecraft loom ever closer to the hull of the attacking Bird of Prey...

Wolf took cover trying to figure a better postion to take out the invaders. " Lt have you locked out all engineering controls and switched them to the bridge" < Tag Sandage> Looking around and doing his assement wolf concluded there weren't many options. If security didn't arrive soon they would loose control of engineering weighting his options it was time to act. " Lt listen we cant hold out to much longer but we can buy more time I have some stun gernades that will do the trick it will slow them down but they will also stun your team as well. I dont really see any other option unless security arrives now, I will set them to low yield all I ask is you dont let anybody come looking for me to say thank you there going to have a nasty headache. Oh by the way you guys really know how to party here." <Tag Sandage>

OFF: Just wanted to point out, before people felt the need to do something drastic, that in previous posts it was established that security teams were posted in Engineering, so those in Engineering do have some on-hand assistance. Mr. Parsons is on his way by himself to help lead the teams already in place.
No need to change any posts, just wanted to make sure people saw the whole picture. Excellent work from everyone the past few days, keep it up.

OFF: Sorry for my prolonged absence. I'm backposting to where I made contect with the Verdatians.
ON:
Kevin had retreated into his quarters, where he sat sipping a sugar-infested beverage. His legs were propped up on his desk, and he was leaning back in his chair.
"We are very grateful you've come to help us," said the Verdatian on the screen. "I am Chief Enviornmental Advisor Reick. The plauge we've enountered could be artificial or natural in origin, but I - and my staff - believe it to be artificially crafted."
Kevin shrugged. "I'm a scientist, specialising in computers. But I have enough experience with biology I think I could verify your thesis. Is there anything you require?"
Reick laughed. "Well, the people are going insane, there are mad rushes to get food and water, but we've managed to keep most everyone calm. There are enough stockpiles I believe we could last at least another two weeks before people started... well, let's just say that I can only keep a starving population under control for so long."
"I'll have our replicators running non-stop to get you more supplies. Send me your data and I'll have our medical teams beam up a small sample," said Kevin, sipping his drink.
"Thank you very much," said Reich, smiling. "I'll be in touch. Reich out."
Kevin turned off his viewscreen and sat, thinking and drinking for a few moments. Then he got out of the chair and hit his commbadge. "Zimmerman to Sickbay. The Verdatians will be coordinating their research with you..."
****************************************************
Savot gave his evaluation of the situation, "Captain, given the presence of the Bird of Prey I would surmise that other vessels are en route to other attack vectors as this model ship is designed to be one portion of a mass assault rather than a stand-alone battleship. Lieutenant Hope, Commander Zimmerman, continue scanning the area for additional hostiles."
A moment later, Kevin said tersely, "Got 'em. Three, all stacked up behind one another, the last two riding in the first's wake. And all more combat-ready than the one facing us right now. This one has the most shields and lower firepower, and seems to have been modified to be a boarding vessel. The others have more space combat-oriented set-ups. I assume they're going to hang back until they can determine whether their boarding party is successful at disabling us or not."
Savot nodded. "A logical assumtion. Does their flight path concur with your theory?"
"Yes, sir," said Kevin, watching his sensors closely. "They have established a loose orbit. Two of the ships are still hiding in the other's wake. Most ships would have a much harder time detecting this tactic."
"Then it is logical to assume they believe we only know of one of these ships," said Savot. "Captain, I recommend we utilise the MVAM feature. The section containing Main Engineering can stay put while the other two appear to move away, as if to fire on it should the pirates prove victorious. But in reality, we could move to locations from which we could swiftly target all three cloaked ships. We would be able to severly damage them before they could come out of cloak and raise their shields. Could you form a flight path for the sections of our ship in that scenario, Mr. Zimmerman?"
"I think so," said Kevin. "The danger, of course, is the possibility the pirates will be paranoid enough to move away from the sections of the El Salv that would target them. Or they might be too aggressive and come out of cloak immediately once we had separated."
"In any case," said Irae, "We need to finish off this ship first. Mr. Zimmerman, work with whoever you need to on forming that flight path."
"Yes, Captain," said Kevin.

Wolf: was about to throw his gernades when his visor on his helmet started picking up signals. It appeared the Security teams were working there way down to them from the top of enigeering. " Well Lt it appears help has arrived after all, I'm picking up a security detail working its way down to us by the way there working I'm guessing there tryng to flush out the invader's to us. All we have to do is make sure they dont get out of engineering"
Checking the setting on his phaser Rifle and adjusting the beam to a higher stun setting, wolf pulled out his hand phaser and handed it to the Lt. " try using both of them if I know anything about engineers you guys can multi task like nobody else can accept for maybe a Vulcan. Keep them pin down until the security team can get to them." <Tag Sandage>
while picking his targets and keeping the invaders at bay waiting for the security team to make sure the higher areas were clear, he was thinking how am I going to explain the shuttle getting destroyed, better yet what kind of trouble am I going to be in with Captian for now checking with her first about beaming aboard with out permission putting the thoughts out of his mind he continued firing trying to take out as many of the invaders as he could when a thought occured. " Hey Lt sorry to interrupt but do you think there's a way to keep the invaders from beaming out I mean maybe from all of the beaming out. some kind of damping field. or something?" <Tag Sandage>

Judd gave the Marine a sideways glance. "Gee why didn't I think o' that," he said sarcastically. "I was waitin' for a lull in the weapons fire, otherwise there could be interference." He looked up an saw the security detail firing from above, gaining a definite advantage on the intruders. "Besides, it looks like I won't hafta lock 'er out. We just about got 'em whooped!"
Judd ducked up and fired, and was rewarded with a yell as a black-clad figure spun and fell against the railing around the warp core, which was, Judd thought thankfully, protected by the newly-installed enhanced force field grid which was automatically brought on-line when the ship went to Red Alert.
Judd took the second phaser from the Marine. "Keep 'em here in Engineering, eh? Piece o' cake!" Judd crouched, then, insanely, dove, rolled, came up firing both phasers, and came to a stop across the room. From underneath a console, Judd laid down one of the phasers, groped up with his hand, and found the control he was seeking.
With a loud whine and an accompanying alarm, a blast door began to descend. The remaining invaders, with a cry of chagrin, began to rush for the door, but Judd had both his phasers again, and cut loose with a barrage that stopped them in their tracks. Just before the door came down with a thud, a figure rolled underneath. Commander Parsons came up firing as well, and now Main Engineering was effectively sealed, except for the Jeffries tubes, which weren't exactly fit for a quick exit in any case.

Wolf: Looked over at Lt Sandage "Gee why didn't I think o' that," "I was waitin' for a lull in the weapons fire, otherwise there could be interference." Thinking of a good response " So what do you guys do on slow days, Pick fights with the Borg" Laughing alittle he watched the Lt make his way to the console, trying to keep the Lt covered was no easy feat there were alot of things in engineering that didn't like weapons fire unfortunately the invader's didn' seem to care. As the blast doors came down one invader rolled through Lt Sandage brought him down with one quick shot.
" You know your pretty good with that thing" Leaving his place of cover wolf walked over to the fallen invader and started striping his gear and weapons. By the time wolf was done the invader was left with just enough clothing as to not cause anybody to blush. Doing a quick scan of the gear most of the stuff was routing Merc stuff accept for what appeared to be a communicator but not like one he had ever seen, turning to Lt Sandage " Hey have you ever seen anything like this before?" handing the device over to Sandage to look at.
