Shortly after the saucer section of the El Salvador came to rest near the rest of the ship, a hail came through to the bridge. Savot nodded for Ethan to open a channel, =^= Incoming vessel this is Savot in command of the Federation starship El Salvador. Indentify yourself and your purpose.=^=
=^=El Salvador this is shuttle Tripeg we have your new doctor with us here and are delievering her safe and sound. Permission to have her beam aboard.=^=
Savot looked down at the console of his chair arm, seeing the incoming Acting-Ensign's transfer orders. =^=Acknowledged Tripeg. Permission granted, El Salvador out=^=, closing out the comm channel the vulcan then turned slightly to face Lieutenant Hatchet near the tactical station, "Mr. Hatchet, proceed to transporter room 5 and escort Ensign Hawkins to the bridge."
**********************************************
Hatchet came back shortly thereafter with a young female in tow. The new doctor headed straight for who was in charge. She stood at attention before him.
"Sir, Doctor Hawkins reporting for duty."
Savot stood up from the center seat, nodding to the new arrival and accepting the datapadd containing her transfer orders. He glanced briefly down at one of the chair's arm consoles and then nodded to himself as he located what he was looking for. The vulcan then uploaded a schematic of the El Salvador to the Ensign's datapadd and highlighted a room on Deck 4 denoting her new quarters. He then handed her back the datapadd, "Welcome aboard, Ensign Hawkins. As you have no doubt surmised the ship is in the middle of a situation at the present time. The secondary and tertiary hulls have been exposed to an as-yet unknown form of viral contamination, with casualties already filling our main sickbay. Unfortunately given the circumstances I cannot allow you to transport over to work directly with the medical staff unless it becomes an absolute necessity."
Savot clasped his hands behind his back as he continued, "However, your quarters are equipped with a workstation through which you can establish a direct communications link with Commander Zimmerman who is currently in command of those sections, and the Emergency Medical Hologram currently heading our medical staff. I regret that your duties must begin under such circumstances, but any assistance you can offer to Mr. Zimmerman and the EMH will prove invaluable. If you require any special equipment please inform the bridge. Lieutenant Hatchet will escort you to your quarters."
Savot did indeed regret the abrupt welcome and immediate plunge into such a serious scenario for the new CMO, but circumstances necessitated the immediate atttention of as many qualified personnel as possible as each moment that passed risked more lives...
(Ms. Hawkins feel free to toss in any responses you may or may not have said in b/w Savot's lines, and again, welcome to the El Sal)

"Ah good, doctor the acting captain ordered me to bring my daughter down here to see if we can be of any assistant. she's only 3 yrs old but lately she's had a bad cough" She finished as she noticed one of the nurses lean over another patient to check his vital signs.
"A cough?" asked the EMH, smiling at the young girl. "Well, let me have a look."
Kevin did his best to ignore the background noise of Sickbay. He was working on a list of symptoms and cross-referencing them with the Federation database, but it was difficult to work with moaning adults and crying children. Kevin had never been especially fond of loud, noisy children, especially when they were screaming or throwing a fit. The EMH was also unhappy with the noise, but Kevin had tweaked its programming in an effort to subdue the annoying personality.
=^= Savot to Zimmerman, separation is complete. Signal me immediately if you require additional resources or assistance. With the aid of our sister ships on the other side of the pass I've established a communications link with Deep Space Nine, with only a 2-hour time delay. Having informed them of our situation they've begun linking us to the Bajoran center of Botany and Primary Medical Bureau as well given their proximity to the Gamma Quadrant wormhole and their experience with the various flora of the quadrant.=^= There was a brief pause, and Kevin moved to the closest computer station as information streamed in. =^= I've transmitted their initial assessment to sickbay's main computer terminal; at this time the plant in question is believed to be a hybrid. One portion of its structure was identified as the base structure of 'harrid' berries. A colony now identified as New Yadera was discovered by a team from the station approximately 13 years ago, populated by holographic representations of a race destroyed by the Dominion. The 'harrid' berry's genetic file was included within the hologram projector's database, but when botanists attempted to duplicate a physical version of the bush it was determined the makeup could not flourish in reality within the soil of New Yadera. Logic dictates that in an attempt to allow the bush to take effective root in the planet's soil, attempts were made to splice the berries' genetic makeup with that of flora capable of growing there. It is unknown at present which hybrid form our crewmember came into contact with, but the data and communications link to Deep Space Nine and Bajor is being opened to you directly so you can inquire and share data at your convenience. The saucer section will continue to monitor the immediate vicinity to ensure your efforts go undisturbed. Fortune favor you, Mr. Zimmerman. Bridge out.=^=
"Berries," muttered Kevin. "I could get killed by a bunch of fruit."
"Commander, I believe this girl has the sickness you are studying," said the EMH. He had moved so quietly that Kevin jumped at the sound of his voice.
"Oh. That's too bad," replied Kevin, not happy at hearing the news. "Can you only talk to me if you have something good to talk about? I don't want to hear about little kids coughing up blood."
"She isn't," replied the EMH dispassionately. "Yet."
Kevin noticed Rylka for the first time. "Oh, Lord..." he mumbled, putting his head in his hands. "Tell her to not to touch anything and to get over here right now."
While the EMH left to do as instructed, Kevin tapped his commbadge. "Zimmerman to Wolf. Rylka's child is infected, and I've yet to see any sort of telepathic race take the loss of a child well. I'm worried that Rylka could become... agitated at the news, even though the child should have a long time to live, and we stand a good chance of finding a cure. I might need you down here. Stand by for further instructions."
The EMH appeared with Rylka and her child several minutes later. "It took me a while to find her," explained the EMH. "She was on the other side of the room.
Then she didn't hear what I said. Of course, she's empathic, so she doesn't need to hear anything. Kevin swallowed nervously. "Great. I'll call you over if I need any more help."
The EMH departed, leaving Kevin alone with Rylka and her child.
(Rylka)
"I called you over because, according to the EMH, there is a high probability that your child - and therefore, you as well - are infected. Please don't touch anyone or anything, and don't leave this room." Kevin's eyes darted from Rylka to her child and then back again. "I'm sorry."
"Sir, we've got a message from Com. Hope," said a nurse. Kevin turned away from Rylka. "He says that the new CMO has arrived. She'll be contacting us momentarily."
"Very good," replied Kevin. "I've got to go over this data. Reroute her transmissions directly to this station."

"Sir, I must be over there with them. I understand that I cannot in any way get contaminated with the virus. Perhaps if I was to go over in a biosuit to keep from getting contaminated," she said hoping perhaps he would agree to this. She wanted to object even more, but didn't say anything.
"Yes sir, I will go now unless there was something else?" she said and was dismissed with Lieutenant Hatchet showing her where her quarters were. She made sure her duffle was secure before heading out.
Once they were in the turbolift she turned to him. "How long have you served here?" she asked trying to get a conversation going. He didn't say much though.
They got out and he showed her to her quarters without another word being said. She went inside to see what she had to work with.
Jess set the duffle down and went over to the desk where she pulled up information on the virus and possible cures from previous records that also had similar symptoms. She then realized she probably should contact the doctors working on this.
Jessica contacted a nurse in sickbay on the other section. "This is Doctor Hawkins, I would like to speak to the person in charge of sickbay right now," she said and was told that the EMH was busy.
"Then who is in charge of trying to get rid of this new virus?" she said and was suddenly redirected. She found another face she didn't know.
"Hello, I'm Doc Hawkins, who are you?" she said and heard his name. "Okay, well I've been looking over the data on symptoms and what was used to get rid of them. This comes close to three illnesses that have been dealt with before. I suggest we try a hypospray with 5ccs of Trocabaltic, 15ccs of Bolarim, and 5ccs of Caramaic. Tell me if this works or not," she said.
(Zimmerman)
Thanks for the warm welcome. Its good to be here.

(Slight Backpost to respond to Dr. Hawkins)
"Sir, I must be over there with them. I understand that I cannot in any way get contaminated with the virus. Perhaps if I was to go over in a biosuit to keep from getting contaminated," Hawkins said to Savot hoping perhaps he would agree to this. She wanted to object even more, but didn't say anything.
"I understand your position Doctor but working there within the confines of a biosuit could potentially be even less effective than you working from here via communicator. Confer with the EMH, and if he agrees that your presence there will significantly improve the efforts to combat the virus you'll have my permission to beam over", the vulcan nodded his understanding to the new Doctor.
"Yes sir, I will go now unless there was something else?" she said and was dismissed with Lieutenant Hatchet showing her where her quarters were. She made sure her duffle was secure before heading out.

Arriving on the hull section of the ship, he heard the the tention in Commander Zimmermans voice about the child and his concerns. Not taking any chances he turn to his gunney " Get a man on Rylka right away but make sure he's not noticed. If anything goes wrong he's to stun and get her to sickbay right away" The Gunney nodded and Carried out his orders with out a word.
Tapping his combadge " Commander Zimmerman there will be a man standing close by Rylka if something should go wrong. I'll do what every I can but if we have anymore crewman with childern who share this bond come in I will need to know right away. What is your fall back plan if things start to get hairy. I mean can you knock all the crew out or something?" <Tag Zimmerman>

"She isn't," replied the EMH dispassionately. "Yet."
Kevin noticed Rylka for the first time. "Oh, Lord..." he mumbled, putting his head in his hands. "Tell her to not to touch anything and to get over here right now."
Tiffani had watched the EMH walk off and frowned slightly wondering what that was all about. she found the EMH to be very displeasing. she wondered if Zimmerman would be the same. she was already hating being here.
Tiffani had joined the EMH over were Zimmerman was standing, she did not like the look on ZImmerman's face *Why did you call me over here?* she questioned.
"I called you over because, according to the EMH, there is a high probability that your child - and therefore, you as well - are infected. Please don't touch anyone or anything, and don't leave this room." Kevin's eyes darted from Rylka to her child and then back again. "I'm sorry."
Tiffani started to feel somewhat frustrated, *What?* What do you mean infected?* She questioned. *It's impossible my daughter hasn't been out of our quarters except for when she's with me and that was only to go to the lounge. I want more answers, that can't be true.* she said starting to get a little pale from the thought of her daughter being sick or even possibly dying. she noticed amilea looking at her and smiled the best she could.
Tiffani Frowned and went to grab ZImmerman but was stopped by the EMH as he was only a hologram and therefor couldn't catch the sickness. *Thats it?* *Your not even going to check us over or even try and make her better?, IF anything happens to my Daughter i'll make sure you regret it, she's only 3yrs old for crying out loud.*

"I'm hardly qualified to give anyone a medical examination. I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do and threatening me is not going to accelerate your daughter's convalescence," replied Kevin, staring at Rylka with his cold grey eyes. His typically informal demeanor was absent. "I've got work to do. Please leave me alone."
(any further Rylka-Zimmerman dialog)
After Rylka had left with her daughter, Kevin received Wolf's response to his previous request. =^=Commander Zimmerman there will be a man standing close by Rylka if something should go wrong. I'll do what every I can but if we have anymore crewman with children who share this bond come in I will need to know right away. What is your fall back plan if things start to get hairy. I mean can you knock all the crew out or something? =^=
The science officer tapped his commbadge. "Negative. I don't want to put any sort of drugs in people's systems if I can avoid it. We don't know how this virus would react. The conscious patients are currently outnumbered by the medical staff... barely." Kevin paused, musing. "Don't send anyone in here to watch Rylka. Keep your man stationed outside Sickbay. I don't want to risk getting him contaminated. If she attempts to go anywhere, make sure she's followed."
(further conversation with Wolf, if necessary)
There was barely enough time for Kevin to digest the information that Savot had sent before the CMO's image appeared on his console.
"Hello, I'm Doc Hawkins, who are you?"
Kevin was slightly startled. The nurse who had patched Hawkins through to Kevin had not given him any warning the CMO was waiting to speak with him. "I'm Commander Zimmerman," replied the science officer.
"Hold on," said Kevin, motioning for a nurse and repeating Hawkins' instructions. "We've got several cases which are very serious. I'm linking their real-time vitals with your console..." Kevin trailed off as he imput several commands into the ship's computer. "There. As you can see, Lt. Saliberus and Ensign Valarie Morris are the two most advanced cases. The virus appears to attack either the lymphatic or pulmonary system. It may also have something to do with the thyroid. Whatever it does, I'm having difficulty understanding it. I've got a nurse working on isolating the virus at the moment. As soon as that is finished, we'll send the specimen to you via transporter."

Jess frowned. "Negative, you will have to keep the virus there. The captain doesn't want to run the risk of anyone over here getting sick. For all we know it could be an airborne virus. You will just have to send me data and we will keep trying to beat this," she said not liking this one bit. The nurse said the medicine hadn't worked fully.
"What do you mean by fully?" she asked and heard that it had started to work, but then it had failed completely. She sighed and started going over the data that was being sent to her console. She noticed there were three areas that hadn't been touched and wondered if this is why it failed.
"Okay, I am going to work on this from my side. Send me any and all new data as it comes in. I need to review a few things, then maybe we will have a syrum that will take care of this completely," she said and signed off before sitting back. She didn't like seeing people suffer, and this was even worse now because if they didn't do something and fast people were going to die.
Jessica started to go over the data he had sent over looking at the two very sick patients wondering what had made them so sick. She started to compare their symptoms and worked on looking through the Starfleet Medical Database hoping to find something that compared.

Following the new Doctor's exit from the Bridge, Savot moved gradually around the bridge, glancing at the different department consoles as he made his way about. It wasn't that he had any doubt that his people were doing their best and paying attention to their jobs, but as the current person in charge of the ship everything that happened was his responsibility. He looked over the long-range sensor results with Ensign Fenchurch at Kevin's usual science station, assuring they were still alone for the moment as the El Salvador dealt with her current crisis.
The whoosh of the opening turbolift doors signalled Lt. Roberts' return to the bridge, and as he reported to Savot for duty the vulcan nodded in acknowledgement before speaking, "Mr. Roberts, our newly assigned Doctor is currently working from her quarters to coordinate the efforts to research a cure for the virus afflicting the rest of the ship. Report to her and stand ready to requisition for her any extra equipment she may need to aid in her research. You'll serve as a liason of sorts to myself on the bridge relaying any new developments that arise with the virus."

John returned to the bridge after a brief spell away. Entering the bridge he reported back for duty with Savot, he nodded and then spoke.
"Mr.
"Aye Sir, is there anything else I need to know?" John replied as he turned back and headed for the door he had just exited, as he entered he said "Officers quaters". The doors shut and the ship began to move swiftly.
John thought about his assignment, sounded quite easy, but then again in startfleet nothing is what it seems.
The turbolift came to a halt and John exited, and walked over to a near by concole to find where the new CMOs quaters where, once he found out he got there as quick as he could and pressed the door chime.
(Hawkins)
As he pressed the chime Johns comm badge chirped, so he Taped his combadge.
=(^)= Lt Roberts its wolf right now your section of the ship is free of the virsus. but if you start to have break outs remember some of the crew share mental links with there spouse and kids. Is just info in case something happens on your side of it. Also if you can scan are personel to see who share's these traits on my section of the ship it would help =(^)=

Now that there was a new aspect to consider to this virsus, he gave some thought for a just in case problem.
Tapping his combadge " Lt Roberts its wolf right now your section of the ship is free of the virsus. but if you start to have break outs remember some of the crew share mental links with there spouse and kids. Is just info in case something happens on your side of it. Also if you can scan are personal to see who share's these traits on my section of the ship it would help." < Tag Roberts>
Right now all was kind of quite or at least what you would expect due to there current problem. Still he had his concerns not to mention there was the chance they could become infected too. He knew the risk when Savot assigned him the mission that was just a fact of life that came with the uniform.
"Commander Zimmerman my team's are patroling the ship mostly key sections in case things go bad. I still need to keep a man near you in case things get out of control he will remain outside your work area. Not to mention he could keep you from being interupted while you work" <Tag Zimmerman>
Tapping his combadge one last time " Commander Savot there's a new rinkle over her, the virsus has infected people who share a mental bond. There have been no problems as of yet but there could be depending on the nature of the link. I would suggest that we start working on a fall back something to close this bond in case things dont work out. I dont want to loose two people if only one is infected" <Tag Savot>

Savot listened to Wolf's message regarding the potential risk to crewmen sharing a form of mental bond. Running this data over in his mind the vulcan replied, =^= Understood, Major. We'll review the crew personnel files in search of such bonds, but the only ones likely to be recorded are those between husband and wife or telepathically sensitive siblings. Suggest to Commander Zimmerman that it may be helpful to have Commander Rylka attempt to feel out any such bonds between people on the ship, not only will such knowledge prove helpful to us but it may provide her a minor distraction from the plight of her daughter's condition. As to the dangers to uninfected members of such bonds, rendering them unconscious via phaser stun or hypospray should prevent any damage from mental backlash if their bondmate succumbs to the virus. Keep me informed Major, Savot out. =^=

Jess was in the middle of reading when she barely heard the door chime. She said for the person to enter and then placed the padd she was reading down. A male officer entered and she stood at attention until he said she could relax. He introduced himself and said what he was doing in her quarters.
"Hello, sir, its good to meet you. I am Doctor Jessica Hawkins, and could use any help you may have to offer. I feel like a fraud trying to figure out how to fix this dilema we have. I can't for the life of me figure out how this thing started out in the first place or what is causing everyone to get sick. What I need is to get over there, roll up my sleeves, get to work, and figure out what is going on by several test that I can't do from over here. I wish the captain would allow me to leave here for there," she said feeling like a prisoner.
"Enough about that though. My head hurts, and I find if I forget about the problem the answer hits me over the head when I'm thinking of other things," she said to the officer who towered over her. ::What a hansome man, I think it said he was in his late 20's in his record. I wonder if he is seeing anyone.:: She thought but said nothing and did her best to hide her interest.
"So, please sit and tell me a bit about yourself. Would you like something to eat or drink?" she said trying hard not to think about the virus, something that wasn't very difficult with a good looking guy around.

"All right," agreed Kevin. "That sounds great. I'll let you know if anything important develops. Zimmerman out."
Kevin busied himself comparing the information Savot had sent him and the data he, Hawkins, and the medical staff had compiled. It appeared that there were definite similarities between the 'harrid' berries and the virus, although Kevin did not know enough about biology and chemistry to accurately analyse the situation. He started tapping 'I Got Rythm' on his console as he began to write a program that would compare the virus to the 'harrid' berries and similar compounds for him.
"Commander?" One of the nurses approached him timidly, and Kevin saved the half-written program, looking up. "We're losing Lt. Saliberus."
The chief science officer got out of his seat quickly, following the nurse to the bed where Lt. Saliberus lay, barely concious.
"We couldn't keep him under without killing him ourselves," explained another nurse.
Kevin nodded absentmindedly. He was numb, trying in vain to ignore the blood running freely out of the mouth of the science officer, who was lying on his side so the blood would suffocate him. "Lieutenant?" Kevin asked softly. "Can you hear me?"
The man nodded slightly, but Kevin wasn't sure Saliberus could understand what was happening. He had a wild look in his eyes.
"His brain patterns indicate he may already be too far gone to comprehend what you are saying, Commander," one of the nurses informed him.
"Get Hawkins," replied Kevin in a flat voice. "Make sure he's monitored constantly from now on."
Saliberus groaned. "Don't want... daughter..."
Kevin frowned. "Your daughter? Isn't she on Earth right now?"
The dying man's eyes rolled madly. "Don't get her sick," he gasped. His hand twitched slightly and he inhaled sharply, eyes focusing on something invisible to Kevin. Then he was very still. Kevin looked at the medical display and saw the vitals of Saliberus fall flat. Kevin bowed his head for a moment before moving away. He sat down in front of his console and put his head in his hands.

Jessica was about to say something when she hear her computer beep. She walked over to it quickly and found Zimmerman again.
"Hello again, I haven't been able to figure this out lately.." she said and was cut off by what he had to say.
(Zimmerman)
"Oh I see, well keeping him monitored is the best thing to do. I would like his symptoms sent over as well so I can see if they help in discovering a cure," she said and then the link ended. She sighed and waited for the next information to come through.
"Sorry, don't worry, sir, I will continue my work," she said frowning feeling extremely helpless. She hadn't felt this way in a very long time, but knew there was nothing more she could do without finding a cure. Jess felt like she was beating her brains in trying to figure this out. She started to look over the files again wondering if she had missed anything.
"What? Oh no there is nothing I need now. There isn't much I can do while here except examine data," she answered Roberts sounding really saddened before returning to her work again. She read a few more things, then suddenly it looked like she might have something.
Jess read again about berry poisoning wondering if perhaps this would help them. She read it three times before realizing this might not work at all.
"Sir, I need time in a holodeck right now. The only way to beat this now is to simulate the possible outcome of what I have in mind," she said quickly although she still felt horrible.

"What? Oh no there is nothing I need now. There isn't much I can do while here except examine data," she said sounding some what saddend.
John noticed that she was studying up on berry poisning, he thought it was rarther strange he thought as the crew hadnt picked up a new batch of berrys at all, or any type of new foods.
"Sir, I need time in a holodeck right now. The only way to beat this now is to simulate the possible outcome of what I have in mind," she said quickly although she still felt horrible.
John frowned slightly, but tried not to make it obvious, then turned tapping his comm badge
=(^)= Robert to Savot, Dr Hawkins would like to run a few simulations on the Holodeck, should I escort her there? =(^)=
(Savot)
"Aye sir" he said tapping his comm badge to end communication, he then headed for the door before turning back to her saying "You commin'?"

=^=Hello again, I haven't been able to figure this out lately..=^=
"Ma'am, Lt. Saliberus is in critical condition," said the nurse standing beside the dying scientist. "We've run out of options."
=^=Oh I see, well keeping him monitored is the best thing to do. I would like his symptoms sent over as well so I can see if they help in discovering a cure. =^=
Minutes later, Kevin sat at his console, unable to focus clearly. Very recently he had appeared to Rylka rather unconcerned about her daughter's contraction of the virus, and now Hawkins had displayed (in Kevin's mind) a similar approach to the death of Saliberus. Kevin knew it was hypocritical to expect more sympathy out of Hawkins than he had shown to Rylka, but he had just lost another officer under his command. Prior to the death of Saliberus, Kevin had always had a reason for the death of a subordinate; inexperience on Kevin's part, chance, uncontrollable variables... That didn't mean that Kevin had escaped guilt, but he had always been able to comfort himself with the fact that the death of one crewmember had saved many others. Lt. Saliberus' death had not accomplished anything.
Kevin tapped his commbadge. "Zimmerman to Hawkins. Saliberus is dead."
(Hawkins, further dialog if needed)
After completing his conversation with the CMO, Kevin tapped his commbadge once more to deliver the news again. "Zimmerman to Savot. Lt. Saliberus is dead. I predict we will lose another officer within the hour, and approximately one dozen within the next six hours."

Tiffani had been sitting next to her daughter as she layed on the bio bed sleeping. She had been dozing in and out of sleep when she heard the murmors of the dead officer. she frowned slightly and became more worried about her daughter. would she be next she wondered? she hoped not it seemed to her that nothing was really being done. she sighed slightly as she stood and made her way to where Zimmerman was.
*Commander* she said in a soft tone as to not disturb to many people. *is there anything i can do to help?* She questioned

[Location - USS El Salvador - Corridor - 01943]
Jess followed Roberts not saying much as they walked. She sighed and wondered what she could do to help more than what she was. She felt insignificant at this point and wondered what she should do. She didn't say or do anything as they walked. Suddenly her commbadge beeped. She heard the news and wasn't happy.
"Okay, thanks for letting me know. I want all information from that Lieutenant stat. That could give us answers to this whole thing. I will be in Holodeck Two, and need anything sent directly to me there," she said and then heard the line click off. She sighed and started to walk quicker not liking how this was going.
[Location - USS El Salvador - Holodeck Two - 02020]
They arrived and entered the holodeck where she had the computer bring up a room to study a patient who was going through the same disease. They got to work immediately.
[Location - USS El Salvador - Sickbay - 02020]
A nurse came in to check on the girl hoping she felt better and that it was just a fluke. She had with her a couple of lollipops hoping the youth like to suck on them. She entered the room and saw the mother a little pale. She walked over to the girl's bed.
"Hello there sweetie," the nurse said and scanned the girl looking for some sign that she was well again, but not finding any. She sighed.
"Would you like a lollipop dearie?" the old nurse asked and started to cough as well. The nurse knew she was sick and did her best to stay away from anyone who was healthy. She didn't want to have it spread to the healthy people, but she also didn't want to be out of commission which is why she thought she was sent in to look on the little girl. :So young and sweet and yet sick as well: the nurse thought.
"Don't worry, we will get you well soon," she said and held out some lollipops for the girl to choose from.

=(^)= Roberts to Savot, Dr Hawkins would like to run a few simulations on the Holodeck, should I escort her there? =(^)=, the security chief's voice came through over intercom.
Savot responded readily from his chair, =^= Affirmative, Lieutenant. Remain on hand to continue rendering assistance to the Doctor as needed. We will route all information still incoming from Deep Space 9 to holodeck 2. Bridge out.=^=
Some minutes later unwelcome, but seemingly inevitable news came from Kevin in sickbay, =^= Zimmerman to Savot. Lt. Saliberus is dead. I predict we will lose another officer within the hour, and approximately one dozen within the next six hours.=^=
Savot paused but a moment, then activated his chair arm to reply, =^= Understood, Commander; you have my condolences. Mr. Saliberus was a good officer. I will grieve with thee when time permits, but for the moment we must maintain our focus on the task before us to avoid as many further deaths as possible. I know it comes as little consolation but the Lieutenant's death has at least provided us with data on the full course of the virus' effects. We must make use of that data to save others lest his death be in vain. Savot out.=^=
Not for the first time, Savot regretted Captain Irae's departure, not for his sake but the crew's. He had long been of the opinion that the logical approach of a vulcan officer was best suited to an advisory position while the emotions of other species', despite lacking the cleanly logical approach to problems, was better suited for a Captain's need to inspire those under his or her command. The vulcan would not refuse his new position, and he would perform the duties assosciated with it to the best of his ability, but for the crew's sake he took a moment to wastefully wish circumstances were different.

Commander* Rylka said in a soft tone as to not disturb to many people. *is there anything i can do to help?* She questioned
Kevin sighed with relief. Not being an empath himself, he hadn't been sure what Rylka was going to say. "Yes. There are a few individuals who possess mental bonds with another crewmember. If you could do your best to keep them calm, the nurses would have a much easier job. So far the officers have managed to keep themselves under control, but within the next few hours we may begin losing a lot of people, and... well, keeping those who live longer calm would be nice."
(Rylka)
**************************************************
The virus had gone airborne several minutes ago. It had also undergone another significant change. Inside Lt. Saliberus' thyroid, the virus began to rewrite itself. The first phase of the virus was not primarily to replicate itself. It was to prepare a way for mass replication in the second phase. The medical equipment monitoring the dead body recorded this event as the virus developed a second strain, and the task confronting Dr. Hawkins and the others inched closer to completion.
***************************************************
Several minutes later, Kevin tapped his commbadge. "Zimmerman to Hawkins. We have new information you should look at immediately. I don't entirely understand what's happening. The virus has changed somehow at a basic level, and the source code - or whatever it is you call it in your field of science - for these things is very easy to see."

Hearing about the death of a officer from the virus, was not a good thing. It now appeared things had gone from bad to worse with no improvement in sight. Give me a enemy I can face and I will snatch victory from his grasp. This though is not a fight I'm trained to win not against something so small and unseen.
Now commander Zimmerman was going to have his hands full when word spread. Quitely he signaled his team to be alert and to maintain order. He didn't think it would come to that not yet any way but it was best to be prepared instead of off guard.

John was little dis-heartend by the news of Saliberus', but he and Dr Hawkins needed to press on to find a cure, and from the more recent strain of the virus, John was begining to think that they where finished.
so far all simulations had ended in the crew of the El Sal butchering each other threw madness, and it always ened with one sain crew member seting the self distruct, and then bang the problem was solved, but that was a last resort, and John of all people wished not for that to happen.
John wondered about immunising the crew who havent contracted the Virus, try to stop any more outbreaks of it
"Doctor, would it be possible to create a strain of the Virus and then replicate immunisation?"

John and Jess were working on several simulations when the call came through. She sighed when she heard the recent news.
"Yes these are easy to see, and this won't be a good thing. We will work on our end with this information. Any updates you have please send directly to Holodeck 2. Keep me apprised on the changes. Hawkins out," she said and then John had a bright idea which made her smile.
"Are you suddenly telepathic?" she teased thinking they had to do something to stop this thing from spreading.
"Okay we will have to create the coding here on the holodeck and watch it change as the computer would predict unfortunately that doesn't mean this is what it will do, but we can put in any variable possible that we think of and let those in sickbay know. Perhaps if we find a way to immunize everyone the cure will also be as easy," she said and told the computer what they needed and the scene around the pair changed.
