Walking around the ship he was worried, he didn't like what was happening. It was one thing to fight but to fight something so small and deadly was not something his team was use to. One death how many more will there be and was his team already infected. It started to appear that this might be a one way mission. That didn't bother him he had servived those types of missions before.
Still he was worried for the crew and the stress that was going to come with it. He had already altered his team and they were being more watchful and waiting to respond.

Travor slowly began to become aware of his surrounding. There was no light, except what was coming through the window into blackness and small pinpoints of light. As he lay there he let his vision focus on small dark objects around the room he was in. Slowly that object floated in the air and hovered over to his hand. Travor took it ,looked at it, and saw that there was writing of some sort on it. It took him a moment to realize that he could read it.
He read it to himself and suddenly remembered where he was.
"Computer Lights 25%. Slowly increase illumination to 100% in 30 minutes," he said.
As the lights come on, Travor sat up and swung his feet over the edge of the bed. He stood up and walked to the bathroom portion of his quarters. He shed his clothes, turned on the sonic shower, and stepped in.
When he was finished, he put on a fresh uniform and asked the computer to display the current stardate on the console. He looked at it and thought Two weeks. That's a long time to be asleep.
He exited his quarters and headed down the corridor. He found his destination on the left side of the hall. He pushed the call button and the doors opened to reveal one of the many turbolifts on the ship. He entered and said, "Bridge." The lift wisked upwards. A couple of minutes later it stopped and the doors opened. He walked out of the lift and stepped onto the bridge.
The person sitting in the center chair turned and looked at the swoosh of the doors. Travor walked down and stopped in front of him. "Sir, Commander Gonto reporting for duty."

"Computer, please display any new items, plants or food products that any member of the crew have come in contact with in the past 3 months." John said.
Moments later the holodeck was back to the standard yellow squere pattern, and there where a mere 5 objects that showe up, 4 of which had been too long ago. one, a new hybrid plant, was in direct contact with a crew member just a week before the out break. John looked towards Hawkins and rembered what Zimmerman had discovered just after the out break, "Its this plant" he said, she looked a little confussed. "Maybe some kind of bacteria is produced by the plant which over the course of the week has evolved into a virus, and thats why the immune systems of the infected are unable to fight it".
the John realised, "What cant plants live with out?" he asked Hawkins, "Light and water, but how is that going to help?". "Yes, but to much of this can also kill a planet, a high enough dose of ultra violet light could be the key to destroing the Virus" John said, "It could also kill the person" she replied back.
John frowned, it seemed an impossible task, "Unless, we can use some kind of radiation to kill the bacteria , to kill the virus, after all it is just a mutated form of the bacteria."
She noded, and they left the holodeck with this hypothisis and headed up to the bridge to put it before Savot.

It seemed to him like time had stopped and they weren't getting any where. Although he knew better it was getting old really quick. Tapping his combadge " Commander Zimmerman do you require any help, I'm going stir crazy right now and need a distraction." <Tag Zimmerman>

Savot's inner monologue was punctuated by the arrival of their chief navigation officer to the bridge, "Sir, Commander Gonto reporting for duty."
Savot raised his eyebrow at the first appearance of the Commander in approximately 14.2 days, "Acknowledged, Commander you may take your station. When the current situation is resolved I want you to report to sickbay for a routine physical, as will all senior staff." The vulcan had read Gonto's personnel file and was aware of the toxin exposure as well as the resulting effects to the Commander's physiology, but a 2 week absence would require a medical review at the very least.
Gonto nodded and headed to his helm console, and as he settled into place a call came through over the comm from Roberts, =^= Roberts to Bridge. Sir, we've made some progress on the virus front and would like to show you our findings. Permission to come to the bridge?=^=
=^= Stay where you are Mr. Roberts, I'll come to you. Savot out=^=, the vulcan replied, standing as he did so. "Mr. Hope you have the Bridge, maintain current status; I'll return presently." Leaving the bridge in Ethan's hands for the moment he stepped into the turbolift and was swallowed by the whoosh of the doors as he was whisked downward towards holodeck 2.
***********************************************
Entering the usual geometrically bordered holodeck, as Roberts and Hawkins had only conjurred the equipment they needed, not bothering to replicate the walls and cieling typical of a medical science lab, Savot was greeted by the two officers, both of whom wore an optimistic countenance as they stood over their holographic consoles. Looking briefly over the data himself the vulcan then stood back and listened to Doctor Hawkins' more in-depth analysis.
Though not an experienced botanist, Hawkins' background growing up on her family's farm helped her to catch the 'fault line' so to speak of the hybrid combination. As the DS9 files had reported, the harrid berry plant discovered in the Gamma quadrant had needed to be combined with a heartier plant's genome in order to successfully flourish and produce fruit. After perusing a number of potential candidates among Alpha quadrant plants one of the botanists turned to the scientific database downloaded from the starship Voyager's files on Delta Quadrant flora and came across a promising possibility: the leola root.
On its own, the leola root is considered unappetizing, but the numerous minerals and vitamins contained within the root were able to offset the harrid berry plant's inability to get sufficient nutrients from most Alpha Quadrant soil types. The hybridization was a success, creating a harrid berry plant capable of surviving and flourishing in most soil types.
Unfortunately, it was at this point where other difficulties arose. As is often the case with hybrids, sometimes intentionally, the combination process creates a resulting plant that is infertile. Hawkins explained that sterility in a hybrid is often a result of chromosome number; if parents are of differing chromosome pair number, the offspring will have an odd number of chromosomes, leaving them unable to produce chromosomally balanced gametes.
Kevin's face then popped up on a nearby console, having heard the entire exchange since the holodeck and sickbay were still linked via an active comm-line. Though the terminology left Savot a little behind as he too had no background in intensive botany, the vulcan understood the essence of Zimmerman and Hawkins' combined explanation of what happened next.
The induction of polyploids is a common technique to overcome the sterility of a hybrid species during plant breeding. For example, Triticale, the base of the quadrotricale grain implemented several decades earlier on Sherman's Planet, is the hybrid of wheat (Triticum turgidum) and rye (Secale cereale). It combines sought-after characteristics of the parents, but the initial hybrids are sterile. After polyploidization, the hybrid becomes fertile and can thus be further propagated to become triticale.
Savot nodded slightly indicating that he followed the scientists' report thus far, albeit generally. Kevin proceeded to mention what he noticed and pointed out to Dr. Hawkins regarding the 'source code' of the plant strain. In infusing the harrid-leola hybrid with the polyploids necessary to restore fertility to the plant, the botanists had inadvertently created a plant that would disperse poison. The process of polyploidization is most commonly induced by treating seeds with the chemical colchicine. Normally, this is entirely safe and desirable in plants, but on its own Colchicine poisoning has been compared to arsenic poisoning: symptoms start 2 to 5 hours after the toxic dose has been ingested and include burning in the mouth and throat, fever, vomiting, abdominal pain and kidney failure, after which death from respiratory failure often follows.
Savot's face, still the vulcan neutral expression, nevertheless took on a grave outline as he heard the symptoms of the colchicine poisoning listed off. They weren't to the letter what had happened to the late Lieutenant Saliberus, but they were damningly close. What scientists had intented as a way to restore life to a long-extinct plant, had resulted in creating a dispenser of death...
Taking in both the two officers standing near him and Zimmerman over the visual computer link, Savot nodded firmly as he spoke, "You've all done excellent work. Will you be able to develop a counteragent?"
Hawkins exchanged a glance with Kevin's image as the young human nodded his head a bit, "I believe we can sir. It won't be as simple as just implementing colchicine poison treatments, since the chemical properties are now inexorably attached to the plant's genome, but that combined with a more intensive application of Roberts' thought about altering the environmental controls to be hazardous to the plant's genetic code... Yes sir I think we can stop this thing." Zimmerman's face fell as he thought of fallen Saliberus before speaking again, his voice grim, "But we might lose a lot more people before we find the right mix."
Savot looked at his Acting First Officer, "One's best is all any being is capable of doing. Your concern, while admirable, deprives the infected of your full attention. Maintain your focus, Commander, all of you", he extends his nod to include both Hawkins and Roberts before facing the screen again, "and you'll succeed as quickly as is possible. You've all made impressive strides. Keep me informed."
Savot exitted the holodeck to return to the bridge, feeling inwardly better than he had but knowing that Kevin's final statement was all too true. The solution would be found, that much was now certain. But how many would the virus claim before its defeat...?

Zimmerman looked at Hawkins as Savot departed. "I can't be much help from now on with the specifics of how you are going to defeat the virus. Your staff has much more education and experience in molecular biology than I. Contact me in two hour intervals, unless you have a breakthrough. I'll start administering antibiotics to combat the colchicine. It might not help, but it certainly won't hurt, and some of the patients are getting anxious."
(Hawkins)
*************************************************** Several minutes later...
"Commander Rylka, I'm afraid I have some bad news," said Kevin. The woman was speaking softly to an older Vulcan male. The Vulcan's eyes were closed and he seemed asleep to Kevin.
(Rylka)
"Your daughter is entering the later stages of-" began Kevin before being cut off.
A riot seemed to be breaking out several meters from where Kevin stood. Two patients were at the (locked) doors to Sickbay. One was cutting away at the metal while another held a metal bar, red with blood. One of the nurses held a hand to his cheek as he sat against a wall. Kevin unholstered his phaser and shot the man with the bloodied bar. He toppled to the ground as his companion was hit by Kevin's second blast. One of the older nurses attended to his younger colleague while the entire room turned its attention to Kevin.
"Nobody leaves," he spoke quietly. "We are in the process of developing a cure. Any further attempts to spread this virus will not be tolerated. Those incapacitated will be attended to last." Kevin turned back to Rylka as the medical staff resumed their duties. Speaking in an even softer voice he said, "Your daughter is probably going to die, Commander. We might get lucky and find a cure before that happens, and if we do I'll see to it that she is the first to recieve help."

Jess explained what they had found to the captain when he camed and then waited to hear what Zimmerman had to say. Once they were done the captain left leaving them to come up with a possible cure. Zimmerman seemed a little less hopeful when talking of administering antibotics.
"Do what you can for them, and we will continue to look for the cure. It won't be easy, but anything worth it never is," she said trying to encourage him a little hoping it worked. She then went about breaking down what the plant was made of completely knowing this might help discover what they could to to battle it.
"John, we need to look at each component of this plant and see what could be used to kill that part. If we find the right component then we are partly done with killing the virus," she said realizing this might not work, but they had to do something to try to beat this thing.
She started with the root.

While Hawkins started with the root of the plant, John began studying the leaf, depriving it of light, but the Virus wouldnt have any light to begin withm so that was a dead end. the next option was increasing the temp in which the bactiria was growing in steadly from 36 celcius, all the way up to 50, but 50 would meen killing the person infected, John seemed to be hitting dead end after dead end, nothing appeared to be any use to put into practise as a cure.
John turned to see if Hawkins was having any luck, it appeared she was having more than Joah was having, but he thought he would be better to ask her rarther than just assume.

Tiffani frowned slightly "What is it Cmdr?" she asked with a worried tone?"

Tiffani braced herself against the biobed she was leaning against, she was momentarily frozen into silence. "I wish to be with her now, also commander i have begun to notice that the virus is only affecting those with any sort of telepathic bond, perhaps this can help with the research some how, narrow it down a bit maybe" she stated as she turned to go check on her daughter.

After hearing the commotion in sick bay he got worried. There were no security personal in there right now because it was sealed. He had to do something even if it meant exposing himself.
Tapping his combadge he had himself beamed into sick bay in time to see it was over. The startled faces around were enough to tell him things were back under control. Looking over at Commander Tiffani hundling near her daughter he could tell things were going good. Walking over to her " Are you okay Commander"

The console in front of Kevin was blurred as he sipped his second cup of coffee. The dark brown liquid was too hot for his taste, but at least he was focused on his work... sort of. It was difficult, fighting a microscopic enemy that didn't make any sense to someone with Kevin's background in computers and programing languages. He had been unable to help with the specifics of analysing the virus, instead directing the general effort. Hawkins was going to contact Kevin any moment. The two hours were up, and although the medical staff had come a long way, the virus was still active and continuing to kill patient after patient. Eight people had died, and seven more were nearly there, including Commander Rylka's daughter. The Commander herself was not in great condition, but Kevin was doing worse. Spots of red had ended up on his console. He wasn't going to be able to continue working at peak capacity for much longer.
One of the nurses startled Kevin as she rushed toward his console without warning. His coffee fell to the floor. The hot drink splashed on the ground, but Kevin saved the cup with his foot. "Sir, we've got it," announced the nurse proudly.
Kevin's eyebrows shot up. "You do? What is it?"
"The cure." A PADD was forced into Kevin's hands. He squinted at it, a tri-dimensional object slowly rotating. "As you can see, this nucleocapsid isn't really a nucleocapsid. It doesn't have anything to do with proteins. It acts as a sort of converter, directly transforming the cells it attacks into more of itself. We're still trying to classify the specific type of icosahedral morphological distinction of the virus, but the cure should be a simple counter-nucleotide that will-"
Kevin held up his hands. "Sorry, I'm not following you. Get Hawkins to give you approval to start administrating the counter-nucleotides and anything else you need, and then we'll be on our way."
The nurse nodded eagerly. "Right, sir."
The science officer visibly relaxed in his chair, sighing deeply. He tapped his commbadge. "Zimmerman to Savot. We've got a cure. It may take a little while longer to smooth out, but I should have a full report to you within twenty minutes and we can safely re-connect the fractions of the ship."

Tiffani had been resting her head while she sit next to her ill daughter, who had been sleeping for some time. She had seen one of the nurses rush up to Cmdr Zimmerman but had thought nothing of it at first, she looked at her daughter and suddenly realized she wasn't breathing.
"NO" she suddenly yelled out at the realization her daughter was either dying or already dead, "Nurse, she hollard at a neearby one, quickly my daughter she's not breathing, Help!"
The Nurse quickly came over with a tricorder and ran a quick test "I'm sorry counselor but there is nothing i can do for her she's already died."
Tiffani looked pale and turned to her daughter and leaned down to her and kissed her on the forehead. "oh Amilea i'm so sorry i shouldn't of let you stayed on the ship, i should of sent you to your father's sooner, she begin to cry as she laid her hands over her daughters.

Kevin jumped at the outburst from Commander Rylka. As soon as he had finished speaking with Savot he hurried to see what the problem was. The woman's anguished cries were evident enough. Kevin stood back, wondering what to do. He wasn't empathic. Everyone he had known who had died was wearing a uniform.
One of the nurses attempted to comfort Rylka as Kevin glanced back at the nurse he had spoken with. If she hurries, perhaps we can revive Rylka's daughter... and if not, at least I'll keep Rylka busy.
"Nurse Hookway, please get this young girl to the morgue as quickly as possible," ordered Kevin. The nurse looked slightly alarmed at the swiftness, but complied.
Rylka rounded on him, clearly outraged at the prospect of losing the physical connection with her dead offspring. Kevin held up his hands. "Look, we might be able to revive her," he explained in as calm a voice as he could muster. "The medical staff is on the verge of engaging countermeasures to eliminate the threat the virus poses, and I'm sure-" Kevin put his hand to his mouth and coughed. Blood dotted his hand. A few drops smeared near his mouth as he put his hand back down. "As I was saying, we might be able to save her. I'm sorry, Commander, but I can't mourn with you right now. Please take a seat, as I'm sure it is only a matter of time before you also begin displaying the symptoms."
(additional Rylka/Zimmerman dialog, possibly Wolf as he is also present)
"Sir, we can't save the child," whispered Hookway as Kevin left Commander Rylka to herself. "The virus has already done too much damage, it isn't like we can reverse it."
Kevin stopped moving and stared at the nurse. "You mean, I'll be coughing up blood for the rest of my life?" he asked. That's very selfish of you, thinking only of yourself, chastised a small voice in the back of Kevin's head.
"No, but you will be visiting Sickbay daily for a week or two," said the nurse. "Mind you, the entire staff will be administering to itself. We've nearly lost one nurse already, and two more are as advanced as you. The point is, you shouldn't keep Commander Rylka's hopes up."
Kevin eyed Rylka, tears still sparkling on her face. "I can't deal with that sort of thing right now. I... I'll take care of it when this is over."
"You should take care of it now," warned Hookway, "because any minute now you will collapse. I'm surprised you haven't stopped moving around. Its probably your young age that kept you up until now, but I'm ordering you to bed... as soon as you confront Commander Rylka with the unpleasant truth that her daughter is beyond recovery."
Kevin didn't have any choice and Hookway firmly escorted him back to where Commander Rylka sat. "Commander," began Kevin, unable to fidget with Hookway's vice-like grip on his arm, "I'm sorry I got your hopes up falsely. It appears that the virus has done too much damage to your daughter's internal organs. We cannot revive her."
(Rylka)
Kevin began to sway on the spot. He heard shouts of excitement concerning the cure for the virus that had already killed a dozen people. Rylka said something, but Kevin missed it. He sagged against Hookway, who led him over to the bed Rylka's daughter had recently occupied. Kevin felt the hiss of a hypospray and the faraway sense of cool steel against his neck before he lost consciousness.
****************************************************
Kevin woke up several hours later. His throat was very dry. Half the medical staff were in their own beds. Hookway was one of the few still fulfilling her duties. She quickly responded to Kevin's attempt to get off the biobed. "No, Commander," she said, pushing him down. "We haven't completed our scans on you yet. Please wait for a few minutes."
"Has the ship-" Kevin was unable to complete his sentence.
"We've informed Captain Savot that the virus has been eliminated, and you can see him in a moment," interjected Hookway. "I don't know if the ship's thirds have been put back together yet. I'll be right back." The nurse scurried away with a medical tricorder in each hand as Kevin searched for Rylka, almost positive she would be in a similar condition.

Time trickled irretrievably through the sieve of fate while the officers on the main bridge waited helplessly for word of the virus' defeat. Savot had called up the genetic data on the problem plant, scrutinizing the readouts over and again though he was unlikely to glean anything that the medical and science departments hadn't already found. Finally, a word of good news came over the comm from Kevin, =^= Zimmerman to Savot. We've got a cure. It may take a little while longer to smooth out, but I should have a full report to you within twenty minutes and we can safely re-connect the fractions of the ship. =^=
Savot promptly acknowledged the signal and then left his science chief to concentrate on what would hopefully be the final details.
**********************************************
The vulcan allowed the 20-minute mark to pass by without word though he grew more concerned with every silent minute thereafter. Finally when nearly an hour had passed Savot signalled sickbay himself to request an update. Rather than the voice of Zimmerman, or any of his ranking officers currently in sickbay, the replying voice was that of a human female nurse, =^= Sickbay to Bridge, Nurse Hookway reporting. The EMH has his hands full distributing the treatment and Commander Zimmerman lost consciousness nearly a half-hour ago. So far reports lead us to believe we've found a full cure, sir. Patients in the earliest stages are already showing clear systems and critical patients have ceased deteriorating any further. Commander Zimmerman's science teams are working to determine the correct ratios for dispersal of the cure through the environmental systems and until then the EMH is following triage protocol hypospraying the worst cases first by hand. I can have the Doctor update you if more information becomes available, but at this time I estimate a 48-hour quarantine duration before re-integrating the ship.=^=
Savot, though curious as to the fate of his senior officers that led to a nurse giving the final report, listened closely to Hookway's words and responded, =^= Situation acknowledged and understood; thank you Ms. Hookway. Bridge out.=^= Rising as he closed the channel he made his way to the turbolift, "I'm transporting to the quarantined hulls. Mr. Hope you have the bridge; I'll update you every 3 hours." The whoosh of the closing doors forestalled any disagreement with his travel plans.
***********************************************
Though he saw the occasional surprised reaction on the faces of those who recognized him on his way through the corridors outside main sickbay, Savot was pleased to see that the urgency of the situation held the crew's attention moreso than the trained urge to chastise the action of a senior officer that couldn't be undone now anyway. The beds had been filled within the first few hours of the crisis; now the corridors throughout most of the deck were peppered with blanketed patients, pillows included where available.
As the main doors allowed him entrance into sickbay Savot was immediately approached by a female nurse, most likely expecting an update on the patients outside sickbay, who did well to shake off her shock as quickly as she did, "Commander Savot sir, you shouldn't be here unsuited the quarantine period isn't complete."
"Your concern is noted, Ms. Hookway; I assume full responsibility for the risk but my presence will help determine the remaining efficacy of the virus based on the onset of symptoms or lack thereof. Where are Commanders Zimmerman and Rylka and Major Wolf?", Savot inquired, using the name of the woman whose voice he recognized from her recent comm to the bridge.
Hookway led him to a nearby biobed whereupon lay the paled and slightly gaunt body of Kevin Zimmerman. Without pause the vulcan's eyes flashed upward to the readouts, the results of which confirmed the officer was still alive. Hookway used her medical tricorder to run an updated scan on the science chief, nodding as the results were what she had anticipated since the last scan, "Commander Zimmerman finally lost consciousness about 40 minutes ago, though I'm amazed he held on that long. His condition was pretty severe and if we hadn't had the cure in hand when he dropped I doubt he'd recover. He should be able to recover fully given time but unless there's an emergency I'd like to let him rest until he wakes naturally."
Savot nodded his understanding of her report then shook his head in response to her final statement, "Unnecessary Ms. Hookway. May I have the most recent casualty list please?" She walked to one of the countertops near the sickbay's main console station and checked it over before handing it to the vulcan. A 13th name had been added to the list only minutes before, the chief nurse's condition had deteriorated too far for the cure to help in time. Though he knew every name on the list and regretted every death it was the recognition of one in particular that caused Savot's brow to furrow momentarily before resuming his neutral countenance.
The nurse caught the slip and leaned in a little closer before speaking, "Commander Rylka is in the auxiliary office across the hall sir." Hookway's eyes closed as she shook her head mournfully, "It's just horrible, sir. I can't imagine the pain she's going through."
"No one should have to nurse. Thank you for your assistance, excuse me", he bowed his head slightly in farewell before exitting sickbay towards the office Hookway had referred him to. Savot made a note to contact the Major when he was finished, as his name wasn't on the casuality or critical patient lists the Marine had likely escaped relatively unscathed. Savot reached his hand up to access the office door controls and he following the opening whoosh into the small room.
At once the vulcan saw the recently assigned ship's Counselor sitting in a chair against the far wall. No one could miss that she was in emotional agony but she was holding herself together exceptional well given the circumstances. Knowing he could offer no true comfort he nonetheless pulled a chair forward facing hers and sat down a couple of feet away.
"I grieve with thee, Counselor", he began, "and I apologize as your loss occurred under my command. If you wish to transfer for a change of environment you have my understanding and full support. In either case you're entitled to sick leave. Due to recent events Starfleet Command has authorized me to grant 3 weeks of shore leave to the entire crew. Should you so desire you are more than welcome to exercise your leave with the rest of the El Salvador crew. You have my deepest condolences, Commander", Savot spoke steadily but in quiet tones as their proximity really made it unnecessary to raise one's voice. Bowing his head in a final moment of solemness he left quietly making his way to the battle bridge as it was currently the 'main' bridge of this fraction of the El Sal.
(add/insert response, if any, from Rylka)
************************************************
Twenty-six hours after his arrival Savot sat alone on the dimly lit battle bridge of the El Salvador's secondary hull. As he worked via padd to record letters of condolence to the families of each of the 13 names on the finalized casualty list, the doors hissed open to admit Major Wolf who was responding promptly to Savot's request that he meet him on the bridge when time permitted.
Savot turned the center chair to face the rear of the bridge, rising as he did so. Wolf approached to report as ordered, a look of slight uncertainty as to the vulcan's actions as he saw Savot stand up. When Wolf had reached the center chair and reported, Savot nodded his acknowledgement of the Major's arrival and then spoke, "Computer: Resume standard illumination and record the following."
The lights rose to the typical level of brightness and the soft chime of the computer confirmed it was recording what was being said over the next moments. "Stand at attention please, Major Wolf." The Marine immediately snapped to showing the discipline that he'd been ingrained with for years serving in the Corps. Savot tilted his chin upward ever so slightly and spoke out in a clear voice, "Major Running Wolf, your recent dedication to duty in volunteering both yourself and your unit to aid fellow officers in an environment where every crewmember faced infection from a lethal virus adhered to the finest traditions of Starfleet, the Marine Corps, and the United Federation of Planets. In light of this selfless courage and your performance in general since rejoining the crew of the U.S.S. El Salvador B, I have been authorized by Starfleet Command to promote you to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel."
The vulcan then held out a small, lidless box whose contents could be plainly seen to be the silver counterpart to the rank insignia currently on Wolf's collar. As Wolf accepted the box Savot finished his statements, "Congratulations, Mr. Wolf. Please express my commendation to the other members of your team as well. Dismissed, Colonel."
(Insert response, if any, from Wolf)

IC:
Kevin had not escaped Sickbay when Ensign Hawkins arrived. "Doctor," nodded Kevin. "I'm glad to finally meet you in person."
(Hawkins/Zimmerman)
Hookway interrupted their meeting, taking Kevin back to his temporary bed for further examination. "I told you to stay put," she scolded him." Kevin was forced to endure several more minuts of waiting before the scans were completed. "Can I go now?" he asked.

With the Virus irradicated, John headed for the bridge to resume his normal duties. He was certainly glad of it too, John was never much into doctoring, he perfered making work for them. Although this time he had felt like he had made some kind of a difference instead of blowing things up all the time, even if he did enjoy doing that too.
Entering a turbolift, John took a deep breath before speaking, "Deck one, Bridge" then the doors closed and it began moving in a swift but steady fasion, as h had come to expect from this ship. All the time he was smiling, only a little but it was clear. The turbolift came to a grinding holt, and John steped off, Just in time to find Wolf had been promoted, Johns smile suddenly became bigger as he headed off to give him his congrats.
"Well done wolf, you deserve it" John said offering his hand.
(Wolf) (OCC: I will add any response if needed)
John then walked to the Tac/Sec console and started checking over the ships systems, checking no damage had occured, there was none so John began checking the space around them, to which the sensors where not detecting anything abnormal.

OOC: Thanks for the tag lol..

Jess was relieved to know they had gotten rid of the virus and headed for sickbay once the ship was back intact. The ride down was a short one since she was anxious to step into her sickbay. Things were beginning to look up, and for once she was glad to have helped even if it was only a little in healing others.
She walked in and found someone happy to see and meet her.
"Its good to finally meet you face to face as well. Seems like you should listen to that nurse," she said amused at what she witnessed. She followed them back to his biobed.
"Well I don't know, this nurse seems to know more about your health right now than I do. If she says you can go then I won't hold you here any longer," she said before looking around the sickbay.
Jess checked out other patients and let those who were well leave instead of being cooped up. She then told the nearest nurse she was going to be in her office. She knew she had work to do.
Once inside her office she sat behind her desk and picked up a padd. It was a casulty report. ^^Doc Hawkins to the capatain. Sir I have a report of those who didn't make it. Did you want me to write letters to their families?^^
(Savot)
^^Very well sir. Hawkins out.^^
She suddenly felt the weight she was to carry on her shoulders now that she was Cheif Medic, and she wondered if it was a weight she would be able to shoulder.

Looking at the box with the silver oak leaf that Commander Savot had in his hand. A permotion that was not what he was expecting, far from it. He was happy his team had come through okay that was his first concern. The price for his permotion had been to high in his mind. There were 13 dead crew memebers one was a inocent child to a enemy he couldn't fight.
" Sir uh thank you I will pass your praise on to my team. Still I would gladly give this up for the lives that were lost. I thank you for the permotion but it came at to high a price, Of all my mission some known and some not." Pausing to control his feelings
" Sir to be honest this was one of the tough ones, I can't fight a enemy I can't control or figure out. This virsus is not something they train you for I will accept the permotion, but I aske that the rank you hold in your hands be buried with the dead they deserve it more then I do. They paid the price for the cure some more so then others. I also ask that Commander Rylka child be given full military honors she was the bravest of them all"
Looking up to see Lt Commander Roberts assuming his station " Thanks for the words Commander but I"m not the one who deserves them the dead do. It was them who saved the crew but thank no less I understand what your trying to say"

Wolf was taken a bit by surprise by the promotion, but responded with gratitude, bittersweet though the moment was. "Sir uh thank you I will pass your praise on to my team. Still I would gladly give this up for the lives that were lost. I thank you for the permotion but it came at too high a price, Of all my mission some known and some not."
Pausing to control his feelings, the Colonel then continued on to finish his thoughts on the recent events. "Sir to be honest this was one of the tough ones, I can't fight a enemy I can't control or figure out. This virus is not something they train you for I will accept the promotion, but I ask that the rank you hold in your hands be buried with the dead they deserve it more then I do. They paid the price for the cure some moreso then others. I also ask that Commander Rylka's child be given full military honors she was the bravest of them all."
Savot nodded slightly, placing the rank insignia on the arm of the chair for the moment as he addressed his somber marine chief, "I believe Commander Rylka would appreciate your gesture, Mr. Wolf. Our eventual triumph was costly indeed, but I suggest that you not place more weight than necessary on your inability to directly confront the crisis. Though it is small comfort in the wake of lost lives it is nonetheless true that all any of us can ask of ourselves is that we apply all of our ability to the obstacles we face. Putting forth our best possible effort, we may lose, but we will never fail." The vulcan punctuated his comments with a nod allowing Wolf to go accept Roberts' congratulations, whilst he himself returned to the Ready Room off of the main bridge.
*************************************************
The ship having been reconstituted for nearly 2 hours, Savot sat in the Ready Room of the El Sal, working on his debriefing report to send to Starfleet Command. As he recorded his thoughts on the matter a communication came through from the new Doctor.
^^Doc Hawkins to the captain. Sir I have a report of those who didn't make it. Did you want me to write letters to their families?^^
The commander glanced down at the as-yet empty section of his report set aside for the casualty reports Hawkins had just mentioned. He tapped his commbadge as he replied, =^= Savot to Hawkins. Your offer is appreciated but as the commanding officer it is my place to write the families. Please transmit the final report to the ready room and include any personal medical notations you wish included.=^=
^^Very well sir. Hawkins out.^^
As he correlated the final pieces of data to conclude his report to Command, Savot entered a separate notification in the ship's log appointing Nurse Hookway as the El Salvador's new Chief Nurse. Her performance in the recent emergency notwithstanding, in a turn of bitter irony the ship's former chief nurse was among the 13 lost crewmembers claimed by the virus.
Finalizing his report the vulcan then prepared to track Kevin Zimmerman down to inform him of his own promotion. He'd been serving as an informal First Officer for several weeks since Captain Irae's initial wounding aboard ship, but in light of the virus situation and Savot's own recommendation Starfleet Command had decided to make the position official. Kevin would be allowed to continue his duties as science officer if he wished, much as Savot had continued to fill his position at Ops when he first received the position. Or if Kevin preferred he could choose merely to supervise his protege Spiller until a permanent replacement was appointed to the station.
Leaving the Ready Room the vulcan made his way to find Kevin, planning upon his return to the bridge to lay in the course for the El Salvador's shore leave destination.

Taking Captain Savot words to heart, He knew he was right. There was no fail in him the corp had taught him that. Still it was hard for him to accept, there were 13 dead he could handle that if they were all star fleet personal. But one was not the child was the death hitting him the hardest.
He knew that Commander Rylka would be haveing a far worse pain then him. He never agreed with having childern aboard a ship and this was why. He loved childern in them he saw the future full of hope. He had never really met the child but that didn't change his feelings if he could he would have traded places with her with out question. He wanted some time to be by him self so he headed for the holodeck.
After entering he ran a program one he kept to himself. " Computer run wolf gamma 2" the holodeck changed just alittle. All of a suddent 10 people appeared ones lost under his command on differnt mission. " Computer please scan you data banks and add Commander Rylka child to the list." All of a sudden he saw the child carefree and full of life, he sat down on the floor and just looked at those who paid to high of a price.

It had begun with his parents. Kevin vividly remembered their faces, but the terror of the Borg invasion was now a numb, dull memory in his mind. He'd entered the Academy soon after, but with the recent prolonged leave of absence taken by Commander J'Leera Laika, only one other member of Kevin's graduating class whom he had personally known was still in Starfleet. The others were dead, MIA, or retired. And after Captain Smith had been called away, Captain Irae had similarly disappeared from Kevin's life. The most recent loss, Saliberus, was of a different sort. No longer was Kevin watching his personal heroes and friends disappear. Now he was watching those under his command-
The (unlocked) door to Zimmerman's private quarters opened. Without any lights on, only the stars lit the darkened room once the door had shut again. "Sir?" asked a voice tentatively.
Kevin turned to see Ensign Fenchurch. "What is it, Ensign?" asked Kevin in a quiet voice.
"I... Spiller's got his transfer orders, sir," said Fenchurch. "I just thought you should know. He got a promotion to boot."
"Good for him," replied Kevin without smiling. "When is he scheduled to depart?"
"A shuttle's coming for him, sir." Fenchurch looked down at his feet. "Is... is it true? About Saliberus?"
Kevin turned around and frowned at the other scientist. "He was the first to go, Ensign," snapped the officer. "What do you think?"
Fenchurch stepped backward, surprised by Zimmerman's outburst. "S-sorry, Commander. I just... When we were on that planet and you got separated, Saliberus was the one who got us out of there. And what with Spiller going away, and you acting XO, who's going to be running the science department?"
It was clear from the young officer's tone of voice that he was not looking for a promotion. "I'll still be there," promised Kevin. A few moments passed before he continued. "The funeral service for Saliberus will be held tomorrow, to accomodate Lieutenant - or rather, Commander Spiller. I'll clear things with Captain Savot before I tell the rest of the department, but I doubt there will be a problem. You were closest to him, Ensign, so if you wouldn't mind speaking..."
Fenchurch nodded. "Of course. Thank you."
"Dismissed." Kevin turned back to the stars, watching them float by so slowly he could barely tell the ship was moving. His life was changing, of that much he was sure. He needed to get back to Earth...
The door opened again. The air seemed to shift subtly, indicating the presence of one who was impossible to mistake for another. Kevin knew who it was without turning around. "Sir," he said, moving away from the window to greet Savot.

Looking at the images of the people who he had lost under his command all accept on the child. He didn't understand why that was hitting him so hard but it was. It was bad enought to loose people who he cared about. Even worse when starfleet lied about how they were lost in training excersises. There familys never really knowing the trueth, he couldn't tell them how brave they were and what they had done.
Sitting on the floor he closed his eyes and prayed to the great spirits to take care and honor them for they were the brave.

As Savot progressed the final few meters to the doorway of Kevin's quarters he saw it open and close again a junior member of Zimmerman's science department exitted. Seeing the vulcan the officer hurriedly stood to attention, but was released from the formality by Savot's words and slight nod of his head, "As you were, Ensign Fenchurch. Carry on."
"Aye, sir. Thank you sir", Fenchurch made good his escape as Kevin's door opened immediately upon Savot's pressing the outer chime. The Acting FO/Science Chief was apparently prepared for the cycling of various visitors attending to ship's business. As he entered Savot first spotted Kevin facing one of the windows of his quarters presumably looking out at the stars, but the human officer new the identity of his visitor without needing to look. "Sir," he said, moving away from the window to greet Savot.
The vulcan nodded to the young officer who over the past months had become an invaluable resource. Before the slew of emergency missions the El Sal had been given Kevin and the vulcan had started to forge a friendship based on the mutual respect each had for the other's ability in their respective fields. The dire nature of recent events hadn't allowed for any direct acknowledgement of said friendship, but Savot's respect for the recently promoted Commander had only increased as Zimmerman had shouldered increased responsibility without hesitation.
As Zimmerman turned to face him Savot could see the slightly gaunt features that offered testimony to Kevin's exposure to the virus they'd just freed themselves from. "Under the circumstances I believe it's acceptable to forego the formalities, Commander", Savot began as he stopped shortly inside the doorway, his hands clasped behind his back in his usual stance, "I came primarily to express my condolences directly for the loss of Mr. Saliberus, although I was pleased to hear that yourself and the other survivors would face no permanent ill effects."
(Kevin)
Savot nodded, "Indeed, I just reviewed the communique detailing Mr. Spiller's promotion and transfer to one of the two science vessels monitoring the Zemetrian Pass. I foresee no difficulty in holding Mr. Saliberus' services tomorrow at 1300 hours. He was both a valued officer and well-liked among the crew as I understand it; he as well as the other 12 casualties will be missed."
"Given the need for many of the crew to recuperate as well as the intensive assignments we've received recently I've been authorized by Starfleet Command to grant shore leave to the crew. As 3 of the casualties have family on Earth that wish to make funeral arrangements of their own we've been cleared to take our leave there. The El Salvador will undergo routine maintenance during the 3 weeks we've been granted for leave; I believe even those that were spared exposure to the virus will benefit from the experience", the vulcan explained the details.
(Kevin)
Savot unclasped his hands from behind him and produced a padd that he handed to Zimmerman, "Additionally, based on your recent performance Starfleet Command has decided to officially elevated you to the position of Acting First Officer aboard the El Salvador, though you'll need to complete a number of command eligibility courses if the position is to be granted permanently. Congratulations, Commander; I believe it to be well deserved."
(Kevin)
"We'll make for Earth tomorrow following the funeral services. In the interrum you should attempt to rest", Savot concluded with a slightly bow of his head.

"As was I," said Kevin. "Speaking of Lt. Saliberus, would it be possible to hold his funeral tomorrow prior to 1700? Lt. Spiller has recently been promoted and is scheduled to leave for his new assignment tomorrow at that time."
Kevin nodded, smiling. "You have my thanks. I have business to take care of there that I have neglected for some time."
Kevin blinked in surprised and his lips parted slightly as he took the PADD. The position carried with it several reminders. It was the position Kevin's father had held prior to his death. It was Savot's old position, final evidence of Captain Irae's departure. Kevin tried to reply but failed at first. "Thanks, Savot," he whispered.
"We'll make for Earth tomorrow following the funeral services. In the interrum you should attempt to rest", Savot concluded with a slightly bow of his head.
Kevin nodded again, still holding the PADD as it had been given to him. "Yeah." He paused, searching for words. "I'll see you at the funeral, then."
Savot had almost exited when Kevin called out. "Savot, my... someone who is claiming to be my uncle is supposed to meet me when I get to Earth. If he turns out to really be part of my family, I'd like you to meet him. I trust you judge of character."

Sitting on the floor looking at the faces of people lost, He started to pray for them. Everytime he looked at them he was reminded of the cost of what they do. He had stoped blameing himself along time ago and realized that things do happen for a reason even if they dont understand why.
He heard the holodeck door open and looked up to see who had entered. <Tag anybody who wants to talk>
