(OOC: Going ahead and opening this so people have a place to sim; will do my own post later but wanted to get this open asap. If anyone feels the need to make a final post in the previous mission I'll leave that open for a day or two just in case, but this is the current simming thread. We'll use this for as long as people seem to be enjoying "off-duty" character development, then whenever the moment's right I'll open the thread to begin the next main mission.)

*Deis had rested up after handing off her transfer papers and those orders...she barely even spoke to Savot...which she wanted to desperatly but didnt quite know how...at least not while a battle was happening.*
*She had gone to her old quarters and was comforted by the fact that some things simply had not changed...even ealanor didnt need water. That had brought a hint of a smile to her face. The smile dies when she sees pictures of herself on one of the walls. A progressive of her life...a holo picture of her in ballet clothing, poised from her days in dancing school...one of her as she graduated the academy, one of her as doctor on the el sal...one as captain...she dosent know why but her fists clench and with a violent movement she sweeps every picture from the wall, letting them shatter against the corner and fall to the floor. then she grips the window embrasure, looking out into the cosmos, gaining control of herself.*
*its not the reversed roles shes made to play now that angers her so much...its the loss of something precious that she never knew she had. perhaps its a type of innocence. regardless of medical school, the loss of her parents and all the strangeness that had been aboard this ship..she hadnt lost it then. Its gone now and it intensifies her face, the tenseness of her muscles, the tight manner of walking. That coiled springness that makes her look like shes 3 seconds away from killing someone with her bare hands. Her time off did that...the time off and what was required of her during that lost and unspoken time. Shes done things she never would have guessed...and things that noone would ever believe of her. So gentle once, but now hard as stardiamonds.*
*She lets all of this go for a little while and meditates...shes got to get dressed and go to work. Ops...good laird who ever would have thought it. That was Savots job back when SHE was Doctor and then Captain. Life is bizarre...but at least its interesting. She quickly dresses, glad that her uniform is high necked, covering the scarring around her throat from an "accident" that she dosent wish to think of. Pips in place, hair skimmed severely back from her face she nods to the mirror and leaves from her quarters. She does not speak to anyone as she heads through the corridors, turbo lift and eventually to the bridge and her new place in it*

Looking up from his tatical station and up dating the completed repairs he sees her. It a little wierd for him at first he was quite sure what to say. When he came a board long ago she sat in the center chair and was the captain. It just felt odd to him something out place but things change and you had to just deal with it.
" Welcome aboard Cap" he stopped himself and adjust " Welcome aboard Commander Irae its nice to have you back again." He really did mean what he said and knew that it must feel a little wierd to her as well. " Seems like you have a nack for timing, sorry you couldn't come aboard under normal circumstances then again its the El- Sal when is anything pass for nomral around here."<Tag Irae>
While he waited for her to answer he went back to complete status checks tatical was not his normal Station and he didn't want to leave Roberts with anything but a working station the way he found it when he took over.
" Looking over Irae I'm stilling working on restoring shields to full strenght having a little trouble with that. If you don't mind I could use a hand I'm qualified to work the station but since its not my normal station I'm a little rusty trying to configure the power requirements"

S'reena listened as Wolf talked to the new arrival. She had, of course, heard about Irae, and that she at one time had commanded the El-Salvador, but beyond that she didn't know anything about the woman. Yet, the name was very familiar to her...could it be...? Listening for her footsteps and waiting for them to come to a halt at the operations station, S'reena waited until she was good and settled, and Wolf was done talking.
Then, she rose to her feet in a fluid motion and managed to cross the bridge without tripping over anything or anyone. She felt Auric's talons dig into the fabric of her uniform as the firelizard kept her balance, tail wrapped lightly around her throat, her head hiding in the woman's hair.
The creature chirped softly as S'reena approached the operations console, and came to a halt a mere few centimiters from it. "Greetings commander," the Romulan spoke up, holding out her hand. "Please allow me to welcome you back aboard, I have the strange feeling that you were severely missed." She paused briefly, wondering whether the other woman would take the offered hand.
"My name is S'reena Hope. I'm not sure if you remember me, or that I remember you correctly, but didn't you train on the USS Hanson? Or were you from TJ Edwards' batch on the Hepta?" She smiled softly. "I used to be an instructor on the Hanson, and later on the Hepta, before my reassignment to the El-Salvador," she explained. "I served under Admiral Keztrek, Captain Marcell and Admiral Drew."
She let her hand drop back to the console. "I came aboard very recently, I'm still familiarising myself with the ship. Any assistance would be extremely welcome." All the while, she kept 'staring' just past Deis, as she didn't know where exactly the woman was seated and Auric - being young and still learning - couldn't give an exact location either, not without fully revealing herself. And obviously, Auric didn't want to reveal herself.

John sat, alone, as most of the time these days in ten forward, sipping a drink. He peered out among the stars, and wondered now how long the El Sal would have this peaceful reprieve for a change. It all seemed too good to be true really, since arriving on the El Sal some years back, he had fought everything from the small microbes that harbored a plant they had brought aboard, to the Breen and renegade klingons.
He sighed, realizing he soon had to return to normal duties, something he didn't really want to do any more, maybe something didn't seem right, after all, he was getting older, and the fun seemed to have been sucked out of life recently, he hoped though, that it would soon change. He peered round at the bustling room, none of the senior staff where present, only him, and since wolf had insisted John got some relaxation, there wasn't much to do. He finished his drink, and placed it down carefully on the table, before looking around again, climbing to his feet, and leaving for the bridge.
He arrived at the bustling hive, people checking what repairs where needed, amongst the crowd, John noticed a familiar face, someone he hadn't seen for some time, and never really got to know, as all encounters where only brief. John was about to go and say hello, when he noticed she was already preoccupied with Commander Hope. All prejudice he had felt for all Romans had almost disappeared, or at least toward her any way. He certainly didn't feel suspicious of her any more, Then he spotted wolf, and he headed over to him.
"So I don't feel like a total spare wheel, is there anything I can get done, just so I don't ruin your god work sir" John said, smiling, he always knew that Wolf, like him self in a way, was a perfectionist, and always did a thorough job of things.

So I don't feel like a total spare wheel, is there anything I can get done, just so I don't ruin your god work sir"
He looked up at Roberts and cracked a smile they both had been aboard when Irae was captain and he knew it must feel a little odd for him as well.
" Mr. Roberts well lets see you can help me restore the shields to your settings. Sorry my friend its been along time since I'ev worked tatical. I can restore them to the original settings but not to the way you had them."<Tag Roberts>
He looked over to see Commander Hope talking to Irae and lowered his voice. He knew Commander Hope would hear it but he wasn't saying anything out of line. " Its a little wierd seeing our former captain again kind of throws you off balance doesn't it."
Then he opened a little screen at his station and tapped out a message so nothing would be over hear " Roberts act like your going through the system's this is just some friendly advice. My friend watch your thoughts around Commander Jackson she seems to be able to pick up on them and read them. She caught me off guard earlier when I had doubts about her combat abilities. I never mentioned the out loud but she made a comment about them which I find very distressing. One's thoughts should be personal as long as one does not act on them. While my thoughts were wrong and she does have some abilities they should not have been made public. So please be careful about what you are thinking around her unless you want them aired" <Tag Roberts>
Speaking up again " So what about it you want to show me what you did to increase the shield strenght again." he looked at his friend " By the way how are you doing you seem to be a little more at easy around certain people. I take this as a very good sign that you are coming too terms with personal matters"

[Timeframe: End of last thread]
As the El Salvador made her return to the Federation side of the Cardassian border, Savot listened with satisfaction at the various duties being carried out. Then Wolf reminded everyone there was one final duty to be seen to for this mission, "Captain Savot the bodies of our fallen crew memebers have a honor guard stationed with them. I would like to make arrangements for a funeral with full military honors sir. It is the very least we can do to honor the sacrifice. I would like to have the El Sal programmed to fire off weapons in their honor when we commit their bodies to space."
Savot turned his chair to face the Marine and nodded, "Agreed, Colonel. Make the preparations and send me your intended schedule for the funeral services. I'll see to it the senior officers are cleared from that duty shift so we can all be in attendance. As Captain, I'll make a statement in honor of the fallen, but I believe you should lead the service if you're willing."
(Tag Wolf)
Shortly thereafter they were back on their side of the border resuming their original patrol route, drifting almost casually through the vastness of space.
********************************************** [Current time]
Savot was in the Ready Room later finishing his report for Starfleet Command. Pressing the final control that would send the subspace message up the chain of command, the vulcan then tapped his commbadge, =^=Savot to Dr. K'vada. When you have a moment.=^=
The Andorian's response came quickly over the comm-system, after which Savot continued, =^=I wanted to commend you on your departments' efforts during the battle Doctor. I regret placing you at odds with some of your staff over the Breen but that's no longer an issue now. Please send me a report on the injuries sustained by crew during the battle so I can accurately schedule their re-inclusion into the duty roster. Thanks again, Doctor. Savot out.=^=
(Any desired exchange with K'vada)
The vulcan re-entered the bridge to the pleasant sight of most of the senior officers. He also noted that they all seemed to be taking strides to welcome Commander Irae back aboard, and that he was pleased to see. He'd regretted having to be so matter-of-fact with her earlier but in a combat situation he'd had little choice. Of course he wasn't entirely sure what he would have said if he'd had the chance... the events of the past had taken a toll on the easy friendship the two officers had seemed to fall into almost instantly upon meeting years ago.
Well, time would have to tell. In the meantime though, no past experiences would negatively impact his reactions to Deis in the work environment, so ship's business should be unaffected and that was as it should be. As such Savot didn't intrude upon the other officers' conversations with Irae, and merely took his station quietly to attend to his duties.

*Deis was quite suprised when she reached the bridge and her new station. She had thought she would slip into her new place all quiet and unnoticed but that was obviously not the case. It must be strange for all of them...seeing her in this job now when she used to command. She looks to Runningwolf as he nearly calls her Captain and cant help but give him a little smile...she understands.
Ye speak truer than ye know, Lt Colonel. *her irish burr was still there, though sharpened* Tis good t be back...loike commin home. *which is nothing but the truth...shes never been at home anywhere save for this ship, its corridors, its people. Even now with the strangeness that has not changed.* Id be happy t give ye a hand...*she sees others comming her way* in a moment aye? *she turns from him to look at the woman approaching her.*
*Her immediate thought when seeing Commander Hope approaching her and stopping is "blind". The Doctor in her screams it...and theres something else to it. Shes not telepathic...but something is seeing for her. She dosent mention it, reaching out and taking the womans hand to shake* Missed? One could 'ope, Commander. Tis a pleasure t meet ye again. I was indeed one o Edwards people on th Hepta. But i did a bit o trainin on th Hanson also...they had a better setup fer viral research in their Sickbay. As fer as assistance...ill do wha i can mum. err...Commander rather. *mum being a slang term for any woman you speak to...not really indicating ones mother. she releases Sreenas hand and again the womans movements scream to her. "blind". She opens her mouth to ask about it but does not, figuring thats a conversation for off hours* Please excuse me commander...Runninwolf needs me input...im sure we shall speak later. *smiling her ghostly smile and standing to walk over to the man in question*
Ye needed assistance Lt. Colonel? Ahh...*she says as Savot comes from his ready room. She gives herself a little smile and pipes up*
Capn on th Bridge!
(Twas to Sreena and Runningwolf and to Savot if he needs to speak at the end of there))

James made his way from the bridge towards his shared quarters however on his way by he seen the new Commander that had arrived a short time ago. However, it seemed that she was already well known to the rest of the senior staff aside from himself. "Hello Commander and welcome aboard, or back aboard I should say."
<tag Deis Irae if any reply>
He then would look towards Captain Savot, "Sir if its alright I'm going to go to my quarters in order to finish settling in?"
<tag Savot if any reply>
And, depending upon whether he recieved permission he would go down to his quarters, and finish unpacking. But, until then he remained standing there with everybody else.

" Mr. Roberts well lets see you can help me restore the shields to your settings. Sorry my friend its been along time since I've worked tactical. I can restore them to the original settings but not to the way you had them." he heared Wolf reply to his question on what he could busy himself doing.
"Sounds like something I suppose" John said, not feeling very excited still. He noticed wolf shoot a glance over to see Commander Hope talking to Commander Irae and noticed a change in the way wold spoke for a moment or two.
"Its a little weird seeing our former captain again kind of throws you off balance doesn't it."
"Just a bit" John smiled, "But I guess we can't treat her any differently, after all, she was a fine captain, or at least she was from what I can judge from the way you speak, and act around her, if she has your respect, she certainly has mine, as you know I never really had a proper chance to serve under her" He frowned a little, glancing him self to the chatting pair.
Next, he noticed wold had opened a little screen at his station and tapped out a message so nothing would be over hear "Roberts act like your going through the system's this is just some friendly advice. My friend watch your thoughts around Commander Jackson she seems to be able to pick up on them and read them. She caught me off guard earlier when I had doubts about her combat abilities. While my thoughts were wrong and she does have some abilities they should not have been made public. So please be careful about what you are thinking around her unless you want them aired."
"Hmmm" John looked over toward Jackson, a little concerned by what he had just heard. With himself being half Betazoid, his telepathic abilities didn't always seem to want to connect, "Thanks for the heads up, I shall keep my thoughts in check, maybe it's something the captain should be made aware of?" he replied, turning to face the console more fully.
(wolf)
Speaking up again " So what about it you want to show me what you did to increase the shield strength again." Wolf asked, politely, but at the same time John could slightly feel it was also an indirect order, even if wolf hadn't meant it like that.
"Not a problem" John shot back, still not overly excited at the prospect.
"By the way how are you doing you seem to be a little more at easy around certain people. I take this as a very good sign that you are coming too terms with personal matters" Wolf commented.
"A little, not totally, yet, although I am working on it, To be totally honest I'm considering a few things at the moment, nothing to do with that, it just remained me" John paused, smiling, "Why dint you come by my quarters later tonight, and have a few drinks" he offered, hoping for someone he could have a laugh with, and relax a little.

Post by SA. Stacey Jackson [Ret] on Mar 4, 2009 8:46:29 GMT
Stacey Jackson stood up from behind her desk, she had caught up with a lot of the work she had piled up, walking to the window in her quarters and watched the stars fly by.
Letting out a sigh as she watched the scene she ran her hand through her hair, she shook her head as she looked around her quarters, she was beginning to feel cramped in the ship, her whole career had been spent on earth, she missed feeling the sun on her face and the wind gently blow. She missed the freedom of just going for a walk down a busy street.
Sure there was a holodeck on board but it was not the same no matter how sophisticated the technology was, nothing could replicate the feeling of the sun or a gentle breeze or the smell.
She turned and moved to the door, walking out into the corridor she nodded at a few crewman as they walked past before making her way to the nearest turbolift, stepping inside she said .
“Main Engineering,”
Several seconds later the turbolift stopped and she stepped out, Stacey looked around the room and randomly picked one of the staff to call over.
She waved over a young Ensign and after he walked over to Stacey.
She gave him a small smile and asked. “What’s you name Ensign.”
He straightened up and said.
“Richard Newman Ma’am.”
Stacey nodded and then said. “Well Richard I need your help… I need you to teach me a few things about how this ship works.”
Richard looked a bit nervous but said. “Of Course Ma’am.. I would be happy to.”
She smiled widely and said. “Good let’s get started.”
For the next hour Stacey followed and listened as Richard explained things in an easy enough way for her to grasp, she made an appointment to do the same thing tomorrow and left engineering.
Stacey made her way to the bridge her mood having picked up since she last left. Entering the bridge she smiled and nodded at the people already in there as she made her way to Savot.
“Captain may I have a moment to speak to you… In private?”

(Before the bridge and exchange with Irae and Roberts)
" All arrangements have been made Captain the funeral services are ready"
He watched everybody gather in full dress uniforms to say good by to friends and those who deserved respect. It was nice to see everybody gathered in the forward torpedo bay. His Marines stood at attention. He cleared his mind and thought about what needed to be said.
" Some would view today as a sad day and they would be right. Some might view this as a good day and draw some closure after not knowing all these years. How ever you look at it know this, those who have fallen died doing something they believed in. We can go all our lives trying to find something to believe it and never find it. Our fallen are the lucky one's who had a purpose and believed in the federation and what it stands for. While we shed tears for the loss we take some pride in knowing they died for what was right.
Sometimes we forget what may be asked of us, its easy to do with our technology and our peaceful mission. Its the peaceful mission that puts us in harms way. There are races out there very few but some who do not believe in peace. Its our job to try and bring that peace to show them there are other ways to settle differences. While we can not force them to accept our ways it still falls on us to offer them a chance. Sometimes by doing so we take a great risk some would ask us why. I say because peace is the greatest challenge one can face. It demands the greatest effort from us. It forces to challenge our selves to be better then what we are.
Those who died knew this and accepted that challenge to try and show others that peace is a noble cause. They knew that there might be a time when they would have to pay for that with there lives so others could enjoy the peace and the pursuit of knowledge that we provide. So long as we believe in this cause there sacrifice will never be forgotten. Others will grow up and have a chance to explore the galaxy in the search for knowledge with out the threat of war.
Remember them and what they believed in, say a prayer in what ever form you feel fit. At the same time give them thanks for there sacrifice, it provided another chance for every living thing to live a nother day in peace." <Tag Savot>
(After the funeral on the bridge) Looking at Roberts he was a little concerned about him, besides Captain Savot they had been together on the El-Sal the longest. He wasn't sure what was going on but he had a feeling he wasn't going to like it. If Roberts was thinking about leaving he would be by himself which didn't exactly thrill him at all, then again until Roberts said something it was just guessing.
" Sure I'll drop by when does a marine need a excuse to have a drink. You know it might not be a bad idea if you want to invite a few of the others. It might break the ice a little and give everybody a chance to get to know each other."
He was impressed in know time flat both Roberts and Irae had the shields restored beyond the normal limit. The two seemed to be in sink with each other and knew what each was trying to do. Sometimes being a Marine and focusing on ground combat had its draw backs.
He looked back up at Commander Irae " Thank you commander your help has allowed me to actually get some time off."
Looking over at Roberts " My friend you let me know what you think okay if you just want to talk I'll be by after shift. If you decided to invite others I'll leave that to you okay by the way you did a good job fixing my efforts to restore the shields"
Before he left he noticed Commander Jackson talking to the captain. He had mixed feelings about her right now but kept them in check. While she waited for the captain to respond he took the moment to say something " Commander Jackson you did a good job today, I don't mind saying you actually impressed me a little. Its almost like you could read the Breen minds and know where to strike" he left it at that he wanted to see what she would make of it.
He was still a little up set she had read his thoughts and responded to them. He had long since learned that personal impression could be wrong so it was wise to hold back until they were prove one way or the other.
" I will be in the holodeck in about 1hr if you wish to join me, I would be more the happy to try and improve on you combat skills. This is only a offer not a order it up to you, I find a good work out after a long mission sometimes clears the mind of clutter" <Tag Jackson>
Looking up at Commander Hope and still feeling a feel bruises " The offer also extends to you Commander and your loyal friend. It would be a good way to relax and let some steam off. Its up to you if you feel like joining me" <Tag Hope>

Post by Savot on Mar 5, 2009 4:22:40 GMT
As Savot returned to the bridge from the Ready Room he was surprised by the sudden proclamation from Irae, "Capn on th Bridge!"
Arching his eyebrow for a moment, he then gave a tilted bow of his head as he took his seat, "Thank you, Commander, as you were." He knew there were some commanding officers that either enjoyed the fanfare or were just sticklers for protocol and had their crews bellow that announcement whenever they entered the bridge, but Savot had never seen the need to force its use. If someone wanted to say it, they were free to, but it was by no means required.
Lieutenant Fire also greeted Commander Irae before turning to Savot, "Sir if its alright I'm going to go to my quarters in order to finish settling in?"
Savot nodded right away, "Certainly Lieutenant, consider yourself off-duty." He noted that Fire hadn't moved toward the turbolift simply assuming Savot would let him leave, and the vulcan inwardly commended the young officer on his discipline before turning his focus to other matters.
He heard Commanders Hope and Irae have a brief exchange as he typed out his final entries for the ship's log, and saw Irae go to assist Roberts and Wolf with some adjustments to the tactical console before Counselor Jackson returned to the bridge and approached him, “Captain may I have a moment to speak to you… In private?”
Savot rose from his seat straight away, feeling confident that the bridge could make do without him in the presence of at least 4 other officers of command rank, and accompanied the Counselor to the Ready Room where he invited her to take the seat opposite his desk should she so choose, "What can I do for you Counselor?"
(This exchange will occur before the funeral services, so mentally insert that here.)
*************************************** [During the funeral]
The senior officers were gathered together in their dress whites, and Savot listened with general satisfaction to Wolf's comments during the service. Savot would have performed the entire duty if necessary, but given the care Wolf had shown since recovering the bodies of the deceased, it seemed fitting to allow a more passionate speaker to take the lead.
Then came Wolf's final remarks, "Remember them and what they believed in, say a prayer in whatever form you feel fit. At the same time give them thanks for their sacrifice; it provided another chance for every living thing to live another day in peace", and he looked to Savot before stepping back from the podium to allow the vulcan captain the final words.
Rather than assume his usual stance clasping his hands behind him, Savot's arms were straight as his sides as he spoke. "The conflict that claimed these lives is over, but the cause never ceases. We must all continue each day of our lives to uphold the ideals of peace and freedom or we allow sacrifices such as these to be wasted, and that must never come to pass. As we commit these bodies to eternal flight amongst the stars, so too do we commit ourselves to eternal vigilance in safeguarding what they gave their lives to defend."
Savot then took one step straight backward from the podium, his posture becomming even more rigid in this final moment. "Attention!", he called out in a loud but neutral tone, and snapped his right hand upward in a crisp salute as the encased bodies of the deceased exited the ship to Wolf and Roberts' programmed firing sequence of the El Salvador's weapons array.
It was not until the caskets were indistinguishable from the other gleaming objects in the vastness of space that the vulcan captain released his salute, and dismissed those present.

"Certainly Lieutenant, consider yourself off-duty."
He nodded and made his way to his quarters in order to change for the funeral for the fallen cewmembers he had never met and would never get the chance to. Wuickly shifting into the uniform then appearing at the location just as it had begun. With himself at attention he would wait listening to what Runningwolf was saying...
" Some would view today as a sad day and they would be right. Some might view this as a good day and draw some closure after not knowing all these years. =^=Quarters after the funeral=^=
James slowly removed the uniform he'd been wearing and changed into some civilian clothes. Afterward's he finished straightening everything he had out into it's rightful place with a slight smile on his face.
Once that was complete he strolled over to the viewport and would rest his head against it in thought about all that he'd seen and all that he may have missed.

"I think I will colonel," the Romulan science officer replied, smiling brightly. If she still had been able to see, her eyes would've sparkled with delight. "Are you up for a challenge again?" she teased, "you won't have me beat so easily this time...I intend to give you..how do Humans phrase it again? A run for your money?"
Beside her, Ian chuckled in wry amusement. "That I'd like to see," he murmured, just for S'reena to hear.
"Don't you have someone to visit in sickbay?" S'reena countered, smiling sweetly at her assistant.
"Oh..." Ian had almost forgotten about Meadows. "And I have to write a message to Kathy's parents too. Unless you feel you need to?"
The Romulan shook her head, a sad smile now on her face, as she reached to squeeze Ian's shoulder. "You were her closest friend, I think you would do far better than I. You have the personal touch I lack."
Ian nodded. "As you wish ma'am." He rose from his seat, nodded once to the captain, then left the bridge.
"I'm going past my quarters first," S'reena told Running Wolf, "my children would probably appreciate seeing me every once in a while too. I will meet you in the holodeck in say, one hour?" Auric warbled happily at the chance of combat and fanned her wings, then chirped as one wing got entangled in the Romulan's hair. "Owww," the woman exclaimed, visibly startled. She reached up to disentangle her companion, who immediately took flight. "She'll learn not to do that again," she murmured. "One hour?" she repeated her query, starting for the door at a careful pace.
She grinned over her shoulder at Jackson. "You're hereby challenged Stacey," she called back, once the counselor was back on the bridge. "And Captain, will you join us too?" It was worth a shot requesting, though she was indeed quite certain he would refuse. To S'reena, however, Savot seemed like a fairly lonely man, who didn't have much personal interaction with his senior staff. If anything, S'reena was determined to make sure he wouldn't be left out. Hopefully to the point of being such a nuisance, that he had no choice but to relent, if only to get her off his case. However, she would inform Stacey of her plan, perhaps the counselor could help.

**after the Funeral** Sam walked in to his quarters. He removed his dress-uniforms shirt and sat down on his sofa. "What is it love?" Juliet asked "since the fight with the Breen ended you seem pre-occupied." "Nothing." Sam said brisk. "Your injury is playing bugging you again?" Juliet asked "Well in sickbay it happened again. It was like everything moved slower for me." Sam replied. "Why don't you get surgery. You know that it is you old injury what is plaguing you." Juliet responded "I can do it for you." "I know, I know. I'll think of it." Sam said.
OCC: as you can see I'm not crazy, just a minor problem.

Looking at Commander Hope he Cracked a smile her attempt at humor was a good one. He had to admit he was not looking forward to the bruises she would inflict on him but that was part of Training. It wasn't his job to try and beat everybody it was to make sure they had the best training he could give.
" I look forward to it Commander Hope, but becareful what you wish for you might just get it. I will meet you in a hour after you stop by and visit with your family. I'm sure the kids would like to see there mother before she's to sore tho hold them" He made sure that his tone carried no malice and that it was more of a friendly joke then threat. Although Commander Hope was one of the very few people who could push his buttons and get under his skin.
He still had mixed feelings about her the comment about how he failed protecting the Admiral still rang in his ears. He needed to put that aside someday but he just couldn't get past it. When the offer was made for the captain to join them he smiled a little, Commander Hope had not had the experince of training with the captain like he had. She was going to be in for a rude awakening if the captain joined them. Then again it might be intersting he was lucky his training and experience made sure he could handle any opponet. On the same token he was not stupid or cocky at any time an oppenet could get lucky and capitalize on a simple mistake. Combat was ever changing somebody who you beat the day before could beat you the next day. So it was always wise to be humble you just never knew who lady luck would be with.
" By all means sir if you wish to join us it would be good training for all of us including myself sir. It would also provide for differnt styles of hand to hand combat to be use. It would also help her pet to recongize which threats to handle. By providing differnt opponets Commander Hope can teach her pet which target to engage while she deals with the other one"
Looking at Commander Jackson he wondered how she would fair, he didn't venture a guess because she had already proven she was full of suprises. Still it would be good to see what she knew and what he could offer to teach her.
"I think that we should include asking the Doctor, Mr. Fire and Commander Irae if they would like to join us. Its not very often that I can get the whole crew together. I'm sure there are things that we can all teach each other. While we all have specialties Combat training is one that is always a learning experince and I for one look forward to any new forms or old ones that I may not know"

Lieutenant James Fire sat calmly inside his quarters a cup of coffee in his hand as he considered for a moment walking towards Ten Foreward as he couldn't remain hidden all day long. And, he was rather new to the ship so the chance to actually move around and see the different parts would be quite nice.
=^=Ten Foreward=^=
James stepped inside the Ten Foreward lounge quickly and approached the bar top he still carried his coffee in hand as he sat down in order to simply relax for a moment and catch his breath he had intended on going to the aft shuttle bay to gather the other navigation personnel in order to get the chance to meet them all, but he'd yet to make it that far. He would consider for a slight moment as to whether or not he wanted to contact the others. Finally he stood coffee in hand and pressed his commbadge, "Lieutenant Fire to all navigation department personnel please meet me in the aft shuttle bay."
=^=Aft Shuttle Bay=^=
James had finally done what he'd intended all off duty officers and enlisted personnel had assembled in front of him. He grinned as he looked at them some even outranking him slightly, and most if not all had a lot more experience then he did. He'd not seen any action really and found it difficult to find the specific words.
"As many of you are aware I am new to this ship and to Starfleet in general. Hence my junior rank status I haven't really honed in as a leader yet and will be relaying on all of you to help me out. Hopefully you will all be the greatest people to have working for me. Then again, I am positive that you will all work very well and be able to help me guide you guys."
James looked at each face some older some younger and smiled slowly having thought out the entire thing that he wanted to say to them. "Dismissed." With that he watched them go back to their tasks each seeming a little more enthusiastic then earlier. He then made his way out of the shuttlebay and towards no particular destination.

Savot sat silently at his station on the bridge while several of his officers made plans to partake of combat training together. As they were still off-duty and as such could do what they liked with their time Savot saw no need to involve himself, but was caught off guard by an inquiry from Commander Hope, "And Captain, will you join us too?"
Savot arched an eyebrow in what was indeed internal surprise at the offer, and in the space of the delay Wolf added his own acceptance of the invitation, "By all means sir if you wish to join us it would be good training for all of us including myself sir. It would also provide for different styles of hand to hand combat to be used. It would also help her pet to recognize which threats to handle. By providing different opponents Commander Hope can teach her pet which target to engage while she deals with the other one."
"I think that we should include asking the Doctor, Mr. Fire and Commander Irae if they would like to join us. It's not very often that I can get the whole crew together. I'm sure there are things that we can all teach each other. While we all have specialties Combat training is one that is always a learning experince and I for one look forward to any new forms or old ones that I may not know."
Both brows raised now in consideration of the prospect, Savot turned his chair to face the group and bowed his head slightly as he spoke, "Thank you for the invitation Commander Hope; unfortunately I must decline on this occasion as I'm on duty this shift. However, it is an intriguing prospect and your points on the potential benefits of diversity in training are quite accurate Colonel Wolf. I shall endeavour to make myself available on a future occasion. For the now; however, please feel free to invite as many of the other officers as you wish. I'm quite sure it would indeed be an enlightening experience for everyone involved."
The vulcan was pleased to see his crew making efforts to interact with each other. In addition to improving work efficiency, getting to know each other was likely to increase morale as well. He was also pleased that Colonel Wolf was getting the opportunity to do combat training with some of the crew since he'd spoken of his desire to do so in the past. Savot nodded farewell to his officers as they departed before bringing his chair to its normal orientation and settling in for the current duty shift.
(Brief, but wanted to at least stop delaying the combatants)

Stacey followed Savot into the ready room, she wanted to keep it brief as she was tired and apparently had a combat lesson to take from Colonel Wolf. She didn’t want to go but she had already said she would be there.
Looking to Captain Savot Stacey said.
“Captain during the battle with the Breen Starfleet sent word of Colonel Wolf’s promotion to Colonel First Class… I was planning on making an occasion out of it however now doesn’t seem the time after the funeral and all… I forwarded the message to your personal computer I just wanted to let you know in case you had missed it.”
Stacey ran her hand through her hair and took another deep breath.
“I must be going Captain before Mr. Wolf sends security to drag me kicking and screaming to his ‘lesson’”
After being dismissed by Savot Stacey walked with a quick pace to her quarters.
Arriving she quickly took a shower and changed her uniform. After being pleased with her looks she left the room.
Arriving in the holodeck where Wolf was to hold his training session Stacey waited for the other to arrive.

He was a little sorry that the captain would not be joining them, Still duty came first. Looking over at Commander Irae " So what about it Commander would you like to join us and share in the wealth of some bruise and learning"<Tag Irae>
While he waited for her to make up her mind he tapped his combadge " Doctor K'Vada most of the senior staff is heading to the holodeck for some hand to hand combat training you are welcome to join us if you wish" <Tag K'Vada>
With that he headed to his quarters to change, he wanted out of his uniform for this and into something a little more comfortable. After all it was training and should be a little relaxed changing in to a black jump suite he headed to the holodeck. When he arrived he saw that Commander Jackson was already there. She by all appearances didn't look quite to so happy she looked tired.
Tapping his combadge because he nearly forgot someone " Roberts we are having some fun down in the holodeck. Why dont you change and come join us if you want I'm sure it will be a good learning experience for everybody" <Tag Roberts>
With that being said " Computer Run wolf 36 engage all safety protocals "
The holo deck changed into a sandy beach with the ocean view with a slight breeze. " I see know reason why we can't have a little fun while we are training. Not to mention the sand makes a good cushion." he almost forgot and had the computer put a tree stump in for Commander Hope's pet to sit on.
Looking over at Jackson and rest of the group to arrive " Don't worry Commander this is a training excersise and a place to let off some steam. You might actually enjoy your self a little its can be fun at times putting people in to the sand or better yet in to the water. When I run it for my Marines we play king of the ocean. Who every stays the dryest gets a half day of from duty. For our purpose I would suggest who ever gets the mosted soaked makes dinner for everybody else. Its only a suggestion but a way to get to know each other a little better. After all we have not had the chance per say because of our last mission"<Tag Jackson>
While he waited for her to respond he sat down and began to relax stretching muscles and focusing on his breath. " If you wish commander i can show you a couple of breathing excersises that allow the body to relax and adjust"

(Sorry for such a long post it gets boring on night watch. And, it was necessary to further develop my character and introduce my npc.)
=^=Passageway=^=
Lieutenant James Fire had been walking through the passageway for quite some time he had even come across a young female officer who wore the red uniform collar like himself, she was a Lieutenant Junior Grade as well she stopped him. He looked at her carefully finding that her nose had the standard ridges of a bajoran female. In her ear she wore the earrings of her people. And, being the kind of person he would smile and listen to her.
"Lieutenant, I am Lieutenant Kelley Belanna your assistant CNO. Do you have a moment sir?"
James looked carefully wieghing in his thoughts trying to recollect whether he'd in fact seen her at the meeting in the shuttle bay and was unable to determine that, however either she had read the orders or had been in fact at the meeting. "Yes Lieutenant I have a moment my quarters are this way if you will follow me?"
"Yes sir, I will."She smiled and looked at him knowing that he hadn't been on board for too long, but she was in fact amazed at the way he'd handled things most junior officers cracked at the pressure, and like him she'd only just transfered to the ship herself. However so, she found his demeanor rather intriguing. She'd managed to step inside his quarters right behind him still in thought.
=^=Lt Fire's Quarters=^=
James hadn't remembered seeing her yet as they stepped inside his quarters and turned to face her for a moment taking in her appearance once more quickly and secretly running his eyes over her. "Have a seat Lieutenant Kelley." He had known that Bajoran's used their surname and first name in reverse having studied other cultures before arriving to the Starbase and ultimately the ship.
Belanna complied with what he'd said shortly after entering by sitting on the seat in front of the desk. She looked around their quarters were relatively the same size, but being junior did have some disadvantages that she'd simply learned to ignore. "Well as you may already have assessed, I am Bajoran though I must say I am rather impressed most humans call me Lieutenant Belanna mistaking my surname for my first. Besides that I think we need to sit down and discuss how we both work so that we can smooth out any rough patches before they develop."
James nodded in agreement, "Your very welcome I have studied up on cultures so that I do not offend anybody I see that it will come in handy." He said with a grin as he sat down on the edge of his freshly made mattress. "Now I really don't have too many questions I believe as time goes on we will get to know eachother better and we will work well together over the long haul."
She smiled and nodded in agreement. It had been only a month, but in that time she had placed every pilot and crewman according to how she felt they would work. Even making sure that some of the senior enlisted got to be on the bridge as much as she could allow. "I have the schedule already made between the shifts for the shuttle bay and the bridge. I also created some sort of matrix for general repairs and upkeep on the shuttles. Most of the navigation department knows how to repair and do upkeep on them."
James nodded again listening to her words, and when she finished he smiled, "I won't change anything it seems to be working quite well for the ship, and you don't fix something if it isn't broken to begin with." He said and sat back on the bed for a moment smoothing it out as he leaned backwards.
She nodded, thinking that it was good to hear that he wouldn't change the things she'd accomplished, because he was right it did work quite well. She would stand up and bow her head slightly before looking into his eyes once more. "Well thank you for your time Lieutenant, I am off for duty on the bridge."
"Very well, and thanks for seeing me. It was pleasant meeting you." He said watching her walk towards the door.
She smiled and would leave him to himself once more, she'd never felt so warm inside as she did that one moment. Perhaps this would be interesting to her afterall. She stepped onto the turbolift buried in her thoughts. "Bridge."She felt the turbolift take off and stop admitting her to the bridge as she walked by seeing the Captain in his usual seat and would take her own at the helm replacing the senior chief that sat there."Hello Captain." She said to the Captain and went to work continuing to think to herself about the recent encounter.
<tag Savot>
=^=Passageway outside Holodeck=^=
James made his way out of his quarters and back down the passage in his civilian clothes once more. As he came across the holodeck he seen Colonel Wolf and Commander Jackson enter the room.
" Computer Run wolf 36 engage all safety protocals. "
James listened as they both went inside, but he would stop the Colonel, "Do you mind if I join you sir?"
<Tag wolf>
He wasn't certain what they were up to, but by the look of the inside of the holodeck it looked like training of some type. And, as a relatively new officer in Starfleet the more training both physical and mental the better off he would be.

OFF: warning long post ahead, JP between Stacey and S'reena
ON: An hour later, S'reena walked down the corridor, after getting off the turbolift at the correct deck. She wasn't exactly sure where the holodeck was, precisely, but she knew she could find her way to it again. Auric was flitting forward and backward, flying ahead and coming back as she pleased, warbling happily. When she entered the holodeck, the sound of a pair of feet approaching made the Romulan halt and listen. "Who's there?" she called, turning while mentally recalling her companion.
Stacey heard the holodeck doors open and she turned to see who it was that had just joined the group to her relief it was S'reena.. Stacey had no wish to be the only woman in a group of men who were in their prime. Stacey took a few steps toward S'reena and said. "Commander just in time Wolf was just saying we are playing a little game.. Something to do with throwing your opponent into the water fancy being my partner I don't think I have the stamina these days to keep up with these young guys.. don't have the stamina for you either but what is there to be done."
"Water?" S'reena froze, blanching visibly. "We're using water?" she asked, her voice shaking with fear.
Stacey picked up the tone in S'reena's voice and said. "Well I am sure me and you can do without the water... I wasn't keen on getting wet anyway."
The Romulan exhaled in relief, relaxing a little. "I hope so," she confided to her friend, "because I can't swim. I don't like to go into water to begin with..." She straightened a little. "So, what do we do then? Move to a mat first?" She held out her hand. "Would you.." she started softly. From her shoulder, Auric gazed at the counselor with whirling red eyes.
Stacey nodded softly before thinking that the expression was useless to use as S'reena couldn't see it, Stacey took S'reena's hand and lead her the short way to the blue mat that was going to be the place of the sparring session. Stacey removed her uniform jacket and was left with her grey Starfleet issue singlet. she then removed her shoes and looked at S'reena's gold companion as it sat on her shoulder. "Umm she isn't going to go after me is she?"
S'reena had no need to change, she was clad in an utterly black suit, which she tended to use during sparring sessions, when she still served aboard Hanson. "Not unless I tell her to," she promised, "she'll know you mean me no harm, but she does have to learn." She offered her friend a reassuring smile, which soon changed to one of mischief. "I'll set her loose on Wolf," she promised, then lashed out with her foot, having discerned where Stacey was standing by judging distance from the sound of the woman's voice.
Stacey Grinned at S’reena’s comment, but had little time to give a response as S’reena’s foot came straight for Stacey’s stomach, Stacey moved her arm to block it but it didn’t entirely work the foot was slowed down by Stacey’s arm but it still hit her in the stomach. Stacey moved back as she let out a grunt of pain before looking up to Hope and lashing her arm out towards her.
Auric hissed in warning, taking wing as the arm connected with S'reena's shoulder, sending her stumbling back. "Warn sooner," the woman commented dryly as she regained her balance. "Are you all right?" she then asked, stepping in closer but remaining on guard.
Stacey rubbed her stomach, “I think I almost lost lunch but other than that just dandy thanks… you have a good kick there.” Stacey stood up straighter and stamped her foot on the blue mat to see how soft it was.. it took her a second before deciding it was soft enough to take a hard fall without injury. She then dropped down fast and swung her leg straight into Hopes legs in the hope it would cause her to drop down.
S'reena went down hard, laughing. "And you've a mean swipe," she commented as she climbed back to her feet, before shooting forward, taking the counselor down along with herself. "How about we surprise one of the boys?" she whispered, "I got the feeling they're watching us spar..."
Stacey saw S’reena coming at her and braced herself for the impact, she tumbled back as S’reena landed on her, She heard S’reena whisper in her ear and whispered in response. “Mr. Fire could do with a swim don’t you think?” Rolling out from under S’reena, Stacey got up onto her feet and said out loud so all could hear her. “Commander let’s take five I think I could do with a breather… let’s see how others are doing.”
Walking closer to where Fire was standing Stacey stopped and began tapping her foot on the ground as if she was impatiently waiting for something.. in Truth she was letting S’reena know where she was as not to get anyone suspicious.
With Auric flying ahead to 'scout', S'reena moved to Fire's other side. "Greetings Mr Fire," she said casually, while giving Stacey a covert signal to grab the young lieutenant's legs. "Enjoying yourself so far?" Blinding fast, she caught the lieutenant's shoulders as Stacey grabbed his legs. "On three," S'reena called out, then counted down. On 'one', the young man was sent flying into the holographic lake. "Seems to me he could learn something about trusting people, and spotting hand signals," she commented innocently.
<tag: Fire>
Stacey watched with a smile as Fire went flying into the lake, and nodded as S’reena mentioned something about Fire not being so trusting. Stacey took on a cheeky grin before looking around at the rest of the people in the room and said. “And that is what they call girl power gentlemen.”

He had heard what they were planning like S'reena was learning to do, he had heard what they were planning. He felt sorry for Mr. Fire but it was all in good clean fun and the lake was not very deep. He knew S'reena didn't like water and intentional made sure the lake was only about 4ft deep. So anybody who was thrown in could just stand up it was funny he had to admit.
Clearing his mind he focused on his surrounding and was ready, since the girls were ready to have fun he decided it was time to begin. He saw Hope fire lizard and approached in a very calm way. He wanted to make sure the lizard knew he was a friend and not an enemy, since he was Indian his people had a great respect for animals. His spirit guide was a white wolf and took strength from that. Calmly he approached and started talking to lizard, " Be at peace young one I mean no harm. You are a master of the sky and wise beyond all we know, trust that I will only teach never harm your master"
Quietly he walked over to where the girls were still standing and laughing, since there focus was on Mr. Fire they were caught off guard when he attacked. Tripping Jackson to where she landed on her butt, and throwing Commander hope off balance. He was happy when Commander hope caught her self and when into a role bringing her self back up. She was learning to rely on her sense and not be caught off guard so easy.
" Mr. Fire when you are done with your swim your welcome to join the us. "
" Since we are all in a good mood todays lesson will be about adapting to different styles. Each of us will spend a minute in side our little circle, facing a different opponent every minute until you have gone through everybody. The idea is to gage what each of us knows and what we can teach each other. I hope by the end of the lesson all of us and I mean all of us will pick up on a few new moves from each other. At the end each of us will tell everybody they faced what worked and what didn't. Please do not get up set if someone takes you down the object is to learn and improve not see who's the best."
" My master always told me know matter how good you think or know you are, luck will always choose a winner and looser. It took me a long time to understand what he meant but I figured it out. So in a simpler term anybody can be defeated on any given day by a move they haven't seen or dont know. By teaching each other we are in creasing our knowledge and lessening the chance of being caught off guard. As you have learned Mr. Fire sometimes the oldest tricks still work" He chuckled a little
Before the end of the lesson we will play a game king of the lake. " Do not worry Commander Hope the lake is only 4ft deep and all safety protocols are on. We will draw straws to see who goes first that person will stand on the edge of the lake and face one opponent at a time. Object throw them in the lake if you get wet your out. If your opponent wins he takes your place and so on. The winner gets to cook a dinner for everybody to enjoy remember its just a friendly game."

*Deis looked over her shoulder at the silver haired officer. Counselor. Its written all over her. Deis dosent necessarily want to be all that much notice to her. It isnt the woman herself in any way....its the fact that she is a counselor and Deis dosent talk very well anymore...oh physically shes perfect, but not within. Theres simply no point to dredging through things that would only get in the way of her duty here. and THAT she takes very seriously. She offers a small smile and a nod and just remains at the ops station*
*Then Runningwolf calls her name. She turns in her chair and offers a pleasant smile in appreciation* I appreciate th offer, Lt Colonal but im set fer two shifts. I need these first few days t learn me station an th innards of th El Salvador. Somehow i missed tha last time. *She gives a chuckle to him...it isnt that she wants to avoid the crew...she dosent. Its difficult to know how to begin. And fighting...weeeell...she only knows one way to do it. And that no longer leaves people standing.* Next time p'raps.
*She turns back to her station after the rest have gone on to the holodeck. Then she falls into her console and is silent for hours. The ship was split into three when she arrived. Going through each bit of the triad takes time, and concentration but with a focus of mind taught to her by the very man that commands this ship, its like flying into it. A ship is much like a body...of any species. Its just made of different things. It can grasp the mind in such a way as to understand its very heartbeat and that is what Deis has set out to do. A living being must think, breathe, sleep, feel, and indeed, live. So too must a starship. What difference between warp cores and computers and the heart or brain. When something is wrong...its obvious...and here it is too. The bits of the ship are back together fine. But fine is fine...its not great. She delves for a while, several hours in fact, adjusting here and retracting there. A bit of alignment here, better "nerve acuity" here.*
*After a while of effort she begins to scowl. To the outside viewer it appears that shes angry at the console itsself. Its just not.....RIGHT damnit! She lets out a frustrated sigh and leans back in her chair. Then her shoulder begins to tickle and she becomes aware that RIGHT behind her is THE man that understands everything there is to know about this and finally turns around* Capn...could ye gimme a 'and ere fer a moment. *she tries to use professional language but shes gotta be honest* Tis drivin me crazy. Im nae doin sommat right on th realignments from th seperation.
Savot sat in the center seat reviewing resource consumption reports from the various departments, and making notations in his log about how efficiently each department was utilizing ship's energy... when he heard a sigh a few yards ahead of him and glanced up to see Commander Irae focussing intently on her console's readout, a moment later turning to face him and request assistance. Savot had no qualms about an officer asking anyone for help; after all it was more logical to ask about something you were having difficulty with than to risk a mistake for one's pride, so the vulcan quite readily rose from his chair and moved towards Ops, "Certainly, Commander. Let me examine your progress thus far."
Standing between Ops and the new helm Lieutenant who'd so recently introduced herself, Savot leaned over partially to look at the console, his left arm maintaining its position behind him with his hand closed at the small of his back while he set his right hand upon the console partially to support the lean but mainly in case he had to make any inputs via the controls. Glancing over thereintegration sequence Deis had run so far, the vulcan nodded in approval of her general approach. She'd never been trained specifically for Operations, but being a doctor, and more importantly having been this ship's captain he knew she would probably liken the process of handling the various ship systems to that of treating a biological form, and that had proven quite successful up to now from what he could see. With patient precision he reviewed each step of the process until he spotted the conflict. Raising his brow in his own version of the 'lightbulb coming on' expression of realization, he moved his hand over the console instructing it to bring up a focussed schematic of the computer pathway in question.
Then sliding his paired index and middle fingers underneath a particular circuit pathway he spoke, "I commend your approach, Commander, quite logical. However, when the ship is separated each individual hull's technical systems activate their own backup redundancy links to their separate computer cores, just as the El Salvador as a whole utilizes a backup link to the ship's main computer core. When we re-integrated into one vessel, the main computer core backup was automatically re-started, but the individual ones that were activated during separation haven't yet been deactivated. At present, whenever information passes through the ship's data processing network, it travels not only across the ship's central core backup, but it attempts to travel through each of the separate hulls' backup links as well, which is what's causing your discrepancy. You simply have to deactivate each of the separate hull backups to resynchronize the flow of data."
Ligh' nerve damage...*she murmurs, and then gives a sound she hasnt in a while. A laugh. A real one...she then looks down to her hip...not even knowing if its legal for her to carry this onship anymore. it cant be protocol, thats for damn sure* Hypospray isnae gunne fix tha. *then with the Captains help, she gets back to work, relieved from the brain teaser that was driving her nuts*
((Thanks for the duel post, Savot))
