=^=Bridge=^=
Lieutenant Kelley listened to what the Captain and the Commander who occupied the operations station next to her. It took a lot to focus on what she was doing as her mind was still focused mainly on Lieutenant Fire she needed to speak with him again. Perhaps get to know him better and she wanted to know more about the warm feeling she had in her gut. Nothing major was going on at the moment as she watched the viewport in front of her and her station.
On her screen she had opened a side view that contained the duty roster and beneath it was all the shuttles that needed repairing. She would talk to the duty shuttlebay technician about getting them repaired before Starfleet ordered them someplace where they would be needed. Even the Mini Sal was due up for a maintence check. She would get Petty Officer Roberts on that as he knew the bird inside and out anyway.
With a grin on her face she finished the work she had set herself for a distraction. She scheduled the two maintenance checks and the repair on shuttle twelve so that Lieutenant Fire could enjoy his time off. Once she'd finished her work she would look towards the operations station as Captain Savot walked away from Irae's side and nodded. "Commander, welcome to the ship."
<tag Irae if you have a reply>
She returned to the work in front of her, keeping the thrusters and nacelles balanced. She could feed power into the system as she pulled up another roster inputted her authorization could and transfered all control over the duty rosters to Lieutenant Fire. Once that was complete she would close the screen and open a new one leaving James a message to meet her in the Ten Foreward lounge when she was off duty. And, when he had a chance of course knowing that after the Breen situation he was off enjoying himself.
=^=Holodeck=^=
James looked around on the inside of the holodeck after he'd been invited inside and thought for a moment. Water? This could get interesting when Commander Jackson and Commander Hope approached him.
With Auric flying ahead to 'scout', S'reena moved to Fire's other side. "Greetings Mr Fire," she said casually, while giving Stacey a covert signal to grab the young lieutenant's legs. "Enjoying yourself so far?" Blinding fast, she caught the lieutenant's shoulders as Stacey grabbed his legs. "On three," S'reena called out, then counted down. On 'one', the young man was sent flying into the holographic lake. "Seems to me he could learn something about trusting people, and spotting hand signals," she commented innocently.
Before he could even react he found himself being hurled through the air and landing headlong into the pool that wasn't all that deep, but it was cool and now he was soaked. He looked up for a moment a big grin on his face of course, and he would get his revenge some how, but now was not the time as he heard Wolf talking to them.
" Mr. Fire when you are done with your swim your welcome to join the us. "
James stepped out of the water and continued to grin sheepishly as he looked towards the Commanders still plotting for a moment. "Thanks Commanders I needed a cool down!"
<tag Hope/Jackson>
" Since we are all in a good mood today’s lesson will be about adapting to different styles. Each of us will spend a minute in side our little circle, facing a different opponent every minute until you have gone through everybody. The idea is to gage what each of us knows and what we can teach each other. I hope by the end of the lesson all of us and I mean all of us will pick up on a few new moves from each other. At the end each of us will tell everybody they faced what worked and what didn't. Please do not get up set if someone takes you down the object is to learn and improve not see who's the best."
" My master always told me know matter how good you think or know you are, luck will always choose a winner and looser. It took me a long time to understand what he meant but I figured it out. So in a simpler term anybody can be defeated on any given day by a move they haven't seen or don’t know. By teaching each other we are in creasing our knowledge and lessening the chance of being caught off guard. As you have learned Mr. Fire sometimes the oldest tricks still work" He chuckled a little
Before the end of the lesson we will play a game king of the lake. " Do not worry Commander Hope the lake is only 4ft deep and all safety protocols are on. We will draw straws to see who goes first that person will stand on the edge of the lake and face one opponent at a time. Object throw them in the lake if you get wet your out. If your opponent wins he takes your place and so on. The winner gets to cook a dinner for everybody to enjoy remember its just a friendly game."
It was just fine to James, because just like flying he loved the water and that would be why he didn't mind this little test, nor did he mind being tossed into the pool of water. He'd listened to the game that Colonel Wolf had been discussing and nodded, "Sir I'll go first?" He replied calmly and with a great amount of disipline.

"It's not the depth of the water I'm concerned about colonel," S'reena answered, a little more harshly than she intended to, "if you've talked to the CMO or indeed, the counselor, then you'd have known that the water itself is the problem. I'm not going in there, period, and whoever dares to throw me, will have to deal with the consequences. This is non-negotiable, understood?"
S'reena glared at everyone, a most menacing look since she was blind. Above her, Auric hissed as she echoed the Romulan's anger and fear.

Stacey fell on her backside and began to laugh, she listned to Wolf speak about playing a game of king of the lake before the session was over, Stacey looked over to S’reena knowing she wouldn’t agree to that.
And to confirm Stacey hunch S’reena did indeed inform everyone rather firmly she had no desire to play the game.
The room fell silent nobady dared speak.. the silence was broken by the sound of the comm. Channel
=/\= Commander Jackson you have a comm. Channel coming in from Earth. =/\=
Stacey stood up and dusted herself off as she said.
“Open the channel down here… it’s probably Starfleet wanting my paperwork.”
She waited a moment before the channel was connected and she heard.
=/\= Commander Jackson.. I am Doctor Cutler at Starfleet medical..=/\=
Stacey interjected his sentence and said.
“If this is about work can I get back to you.”
=/\= Uh No commander you misunderstand.. there was an accident during a survival exercise… Your son Dean was injured. =/\=
Stacey froze silent her heart rate increased and her eyes struggled to focus on anything through the tears that began to well up in her eyes. She looked around and saw the blurred figures of James Fire, S’reena and Wolf she could not remember if she had mentioned her Son to them before or not it was a sore topic for her these days
“I.. I see.. Is he going to be okay….”
=/\= Commander Dean is in critical condition.. I am hopeful he will pull through but it is touch and go for now. =/\=
Stacey’s mouth went dry and she lost all sense reason her only goal was to get to her son. She bolted for the door towards her quarters leaving the comm. Channel open and the doctor talking to someone who was not there.

"Doctor, this is Commander S'reena Hope. Please have the call forwarded to Commander Jackson's quarters from the bridge. She has left the holodeck." She turned. "Colonel Wolf, I'll be going after her, continue your exercise as planned. This incident need not deter you from your planned activities, whether or not meant to raise crew morale."
Forgetting for the first time since her own accident that she was blind, the Romulan rushed after the counselor, unconsciously relying only on the visuals Auric was providing. "Stacey!" she called after the retreating woman, not knowing whether she was still within hearing range.
While running, she tapped her combadge, knowing Deis was on the bridge. "Commander Irae, a call just came in from Starfleet Medical, reroute to counselor Jackson's quarters if not already requested by sender. Mark it priority and private." Too used to giving orders, for once she didn't care if she stepped on toes.
Minutes later, and completely out of breath, S'reena stepped into the counselor's quarters. "Stacey may I come in?" she queried, wondering why the door was left open, indeed how that was at all possible. She heard sobs and walked towards the sound, awkwardly circling her arms around the older woman's shoulders. "Shall I go with you?" she asked softly, "you know, for moral support. Do you want Michael to have a look at him? He's a surgeon...and one of the best, I hear."
Not wanting to further upset her friend, S'reena rose to her feet. "I don't know how far we are from starbase, but perhaps we can request a shuttle? Unless the captain is willing to divert...I could ask for you....please, say something?"

Watching and listening to everything that had happened it seemed best to cancel the training. He was concerned about Commander Jackson and the news she just got, he wonder who counsil the counsler. Still he felt there must be something the crew could do to help he wasn't sure what but something. With Commander Hope going after he was sure that she would talk to the captain about making some arrangements for Commander Jackson.
Turning to Mr. Fire " Lt Fire please do me a favor its only a request but could you please do the work up for the El-Sal to alter course for Earth and best possible speed. Please keep in mind that we do not have orders to change course yet. That will have to come from the captain if he's willing to do that. I just want to get ahead of the game if he elects too. Also if he doesn't please check on our shuttles to see which would get her there the fastest and preprogram the course for Commander Jackson. The Captain may feel that our current status doesn't allow for a course change and may elect to let Commander Jackson take a shuttle. Also please check for any ships nearby that might be heading that way as well. Like I said this is a personal favor don't change course or get ahead of the captain. All I ask is you give the captain a few options to choose from when Commander Jackson decideds what she's going to do."<Tag Fire>
" Oh by the way Mr. Fire you might want to change clothes first. I promise next time we will ensure the girls get a little soaked them selves"
He was a little loss on what to do next, he didn't want to impose on the privacy of Commander Jackson. Still given her current condition he felt like he might need to at least get the captain to visist Commander Jackson and let her inform him on what she wanted to reveal.
Heading straight for the bridge with out changing, it would be to wiered it wasn't the first time Captain Savot had seen in a black jump suit. Arriving on the bridge he found the captain at his normal spot.
" I'm sorry for not being in uniform Captain and with respect to Commander Jackson privacy. I think it might be a good idea for to visit Commander Jackson in her quarters. I do not wish to go to far in to it out of respect for her. But everybody on the holodeck was there when she answered a emergency call from earth concerning her son. It would be a good idea for you to talk to her and let her explain as it might effect the ship and her" <Tag Savot>
While he waited for the captain to respond he looked up and smiled at Commander Irae. He still felt a little out of place around her. It wasn't a bad feeling just one that took some getting use to.

=^=Holodeck=^=
The message that had come over the comms had disturbed him greatly and it was to no surprise to see Commander Jackson run out. He was still young and of course had no children himself, but he could understand her haste. That was when Colonel Wolf looked at him and started to speak.
"Understood."
" Oh by the way Mr. Fire you might want to change clothes first. I promise next time we will ensure the girls get a little soaked them selves"
He had started to go off to take care of the things that were asked of him when Wolf started to talk again, "Yes sir." He said and then completed his exit of the holodeck. Making his way toward's his quarters first.
=^=Quarters=^=
He quickly entered the room and discovered he had a pending message, but he would check it later as he was too busy trying to quickly get into his uniform instead of the blue sweatpants and white tanktop. He lifted his commbadge and pressed it to his chest and sighed. He then pressed it, Ensign Ortega please prepare shuttle seven for takeoff we haven't gotten the order yet, but we may need it.
"Roger sir."
He then made his way out of the room and onto the turbolift and then sighed lightly, "Deck One Bridge." He enjoyed his moment of peace as he rode towards the bridge hoping that Captain Savot ordered them to Earth, or a shuttle to take her. He was willing to fly either of them. He straightened and smoothed his uniform as the door opened admitting him to the bridge. He didn't go straight to the helm instead he looked toward's Captain Savot, "Sir, I suggest we make way towards Earth on the ship at best speed so that we can be with Commander Jackson for emotional support."
<tag Savot>
He stood and awaited orders still not making way towards the Helm.

Stacey made it to her quarters, her mind was racing she immediately ran to her wardrobe and began throwing a few clothes into a bag. A few seconds later the comm. Channel came to life and the same doctor she spoke to moments ago was speaking again.
=/\= Commander Jackson?”=/\=
Stacey was still franticly getting stuff into her bag before she registered the doctors voice. “Yes..Yes… Is Dean awake?”
=/\= No Commander he is currently sedated.=/\=
“Thank you Doctor I will return to earth immediately…If you need anything to help Dean get in contact with Admiral Malone… I saved his Marriage.. he owes me big.”
=/\= Uhh. Okay Commander Starfleet Medical Out. =/\=
as Stacey Jammed things into her bag her hands came across a photo frame, the picture of her and Dean before she left earth to take an assignment as Instructor in Section 47… she slowed down and looked at the photo. Tears began to stream down her face as she looked at him smiling at her.
She stood up and walked over to her bed and sat down still looking at the photo, she had no idea what had happened to him… she kicked herself inside for not asking the doctor… But she knew she had to get to Earth she was Deans only family still alive.
S’reena’s voice came from the door to Stacey’s quarters, but Stacey couldn’t bring herself to look up from Dean and answer her. A few seconds later S’reena walked in and sat next to Stacey and circled her arms around her.
Stacey knew she understood the pain and fear she was going through S’reena was a mother too.
Stacey looked up at S’reena tears still streaming down her face. “y..es A shuttle.. I need a Shuttle… shouldn’t be too hard… the Shuttle I mean… Because I need the Shuttle… Dean have to get there.”
Stacey was rambling her thoughts moving faster than she could express them, then suddenly she closed her eyes and began breathing in deeply holding it and then leeting the air out.
Her eyes opened it had helped a little her thoughts were more focused now, she wiped away the tears from her cheeks and stood up. “If you wouldn’t mind coming with me I would be in your debt…Someone needs to stop me tearing the galaxy apart to get there quicker.” Stacey grabbed a uniform jacket out of the bag and slipped it over her arms, she then pulled out a pair of shoes and quickly put them on. She didn’t bother with her hair or makeup, there was no time… she knew however her makeup had no doubt began to run down her face along with the tears.
She looked at S’reena for a moment and said quietly. “thank you… I need to see Savot.. get that shuttle.”
Stacey moved toward the door to her quarters before turning back and placing a hand on S’reena’s arm to help her navigate the clothes and items Stacey had strewn across the floor.
As they exited her quarters Stacey didn’t remove her hand, in truth it was less for S’reena and more for Stacey that she had it there. The contact helped her feel accompanied by someone, and helped her keep from tearing her hair out.
As they walked Stacey began talking. “I gave birth to Dean in the Starfleet Academy Commandants office you know… I went in to labour during a meeting and refused to be transported anywhere… I was paranoid that it would harm him in someway… by the time the medical team got there it was to late to move me… The Commandant didn’t appreciate it much.’ Stacey let out a sad chuckle
They stepped into a turbolift and said. “Bridge,”
Moments later the turbolift stopped and the door opened to the bridge. Just in time for Stacey to hear.
"Sir, I suggest we make way towards Earth on the ship at best speed so that we can be with Commander Jackson for emotional support."
The Voice was that of the new member of the Crew James Fire. Stacey wiped away yet more tears that began to fall down her face before moving forward.
As she stepped onto the bridge she noticed Wolf and Fire look at her with compassion and sadness. Stacey couldn’t express her gratitude in her current state but she did feel it inside even if she couldn’t express it.
Walking to Savot and Fire Stacey said in a shaky voice.
“Captain… I would like to request a shuttlecraft to get me to earth… My So..”
she broke down again in tears and her voice chocked up no longer being able to speak fully. If she was thinking straight she would have been embarrassed to cry in front of the senior staff but right now it was the least of her worries. Stacey nudged S’reena hoping she would finish for her as Stacey couldn’t find the words or speak them without breaking down even more.

S'reena stepped in, drawing Stacey close to her, offering a shoulder to cry on. Proudly, she faced the captain. "Her son was injured on Earth," she continued for her friend, "critically injured. Commander Jackson would request the use of a shuttlecraft to return to Earth and tend to her son."
She paused briefly, running her hand over Stacey's hair, trying to calm her. Quietly, she relayed what she had heard and as much as Stacey had told her. She modulated her voice so that only the Vulcan's sharp hearing could pick up on her words. She could've requested the privacy of the readyroom, but she felt the counselor was best off in the place where empathy and sympathy was felt best.
"Captain, I would like to request to be allowed to go with her." She hesitated for several long seconds. "To provide moral support," she added finally, "I do not expect we shall be gone long." The Romulan sighed, not really wanting to continue, for fear of upsetting the woman in her arms.
She sighed again. "Perhaps you should talk to her alone for a moment, a Vulcan's calm can do wonders to a terrified mind." And she knew that from experience, wistfully thinking back to the one Vulcan friend she had and knew she could always count on. Briefly, she wondered where Salek was these days, as she hadn't heard from him in a long time.
Finally, she squeezed Stacey's shoulders, before releasing her. "I'll be at my station," she whispered, "talk to him Stacey, he'll help. Everyone wants to help, can't you see?" Her own acute hearing had picked up on the hushed whispers on the bridge, Auric relaying to her the overall feeling of sympathy and support. "We'd all come if we could..."
Smiling to herself, S'reena walked over to the science station and took her seat, not really in the state of mind to perform any of her duties right now.

[Bit of backposting first]
Savot nodded as he listened to Jackson explain that she'd opted not to have a promotion celebration for Wolf so recently after the somber funerals, "I understand Counselor; social activities are entirely up to those who choose to participate so you needn't request my approval unless there are extraordinary circumstances that need to be considered. However, in the event of any future gatherings I will do my utmost to clear the duty schedules of those who wish to attend. Thank you for taking the initiative in this matter I believe crew morale is in good hands with you serving as Counselor."
After that Stacey departed and Savot returned to the bridge, greeting the Bajoran assistant helmsman as she began her duty shift, "Greetings, Lieutenant Kelley." The vulcan captain wasn't known for his small-talk so it didn't go much further than that, but a lot of even non-vulcan captains weren't considered particularly 'chatty', and Kelley didn't seem offended by the professional curtness.
******************************
A little later on into the shift Savot heard a call come in over Deis' communicator from what sounded like Hope requesting some communication diverted to the Counselor's quarters. As it had yet to involve him the vulcan contented himself with a raised eyebrow before returning to his reports. However, a few minutes' time brought Wolf to the bridge in his training attire.
"I'm sorry for not being in uniform Captain and with respect to Commander Jackson privacy, I think it might be a good idea to visit Commander Jackson in her quarters. I do not wish to go too far into it out of respect for her. But everybody on the holodeck was there when she answered a emergency call from earth concerning her son. It would be a good idea for you to talk to her and let her explain as it might effect the ship and her", Wolf finished as Savot listened calmly, his brow arching somewhat as he digested the information.
Clasping his hands in his lap, Savot gave Wolf and tilted bow of his head and he spoke, "Colonel it's clear your intentions in this matter are in Counselor Jackson's best interests, but in respect of the very privacy you mentioned it would be inappropriate for me to approach the subject with her before she herself initiates the dialogue. Even if emotional distress I'm sure she is capable of deciding whether or not to elaborate upon her situation to me, especially if she'll require the use of a shuttlecraft if she wishes to travel to Earth to see her son in person."
Just as the vulcan was finishing, Lt. Fire entered the bridge and added his own concerns for Stacey's well-being, "Sir, I suggest we make way towards Earth on the ship at best speed so that we can be with Commander Jackson for emotional support."
Savot's brow rose yet again, for officers still largely strangers to each other, this group had seemed to quickly develop a deep interest in each other's wellfare. It wasn't a bad quality overall, quite the contrary, but Savot was about to address Fire's concerns when the presence of Jackson and Hope was noticed. Walking to Savot and Fire, Stacey said in a shaky voice.
“Captain… I would like to request a shuttlecraft to get me to earth… My So..”, Jackson broke off mid-statement, understandably overwhelmed and S'reena quickly moved to continue for her. "Her son was injured on Earth," Hope continued for her friend, "critically injured. Commander Jackson would request the use of a shuttlecraft to return to Earth and tend to her son."
"Captain, I would like to request to be allowed to go with her." Hope continued then hesitated for several long seconds. "To provide moral support," she added finally, "I do not expect we shall be gone long." The Romulan sighed.
As Savot contemplated the request, mentally calculating the time it would take to divert the entire ship or send a shuttle, Hope sighed again, "Perhaps you should talk to her alone for a moment, a Vulcan's calm can do wonders to a terrified mind."
Savot nodded silently as he stood, placing his right hand on Jackson's left shoulder and gesturing with his left hand toward the Ready Room, "Let us discuss the particulars, Counselor; we will certainly do anything we can to aid you." Savot then guided the Counselor gently from the bridge where they could speak privately.
Ushering the Counselor to the couch he'd never bothered to have removed, Savot then moved to the replicator across the room and placed an order, "Vulcan spice tea, hot." Acquiring the beverage he brought the saucer-supported cup back to the couch laying it on the end table next to Jackson so she wouldn't have to worry about holding it if she didn't want to worry about it.
"We'll provide you with a shuttlecraft, there should be one adequately prepared to leave as soon as you're ready. I regret being unable to divert the entire ship but we have 27 more hours before our current patrol is completed. However, upon it's completion we'll proceed towards Earth to pick you up, and render any aid we can if necessary. I'm assigning Mr. Fire to pilot you and Commander Hope is cleared to accompany you should you so desire", Stacey had proven herself capable of shuttle pilotting during the previous mission, but Savot felt she should be freed of that necessity since she had more important things to worry about.
Not having an abundance of experience in consoling people, Savot fell back on what he did have experience in which was telling the factual truth, and though he said it matter-of-factly, he attempted to project a tone of reassurance as he spoke, "I'm aware that no instruction for you not to worry will alleviate your concerns, but do attempt to focus on the fact that your son's situation is already being addressed by Starfleet Medical and as such he could not possibly be receiving better care than he currently is. Also, give your own reluctance to let wounds deter you no matter how grievous, it's logical to presume your son also has a strong will for survival; he will not give up."
Savot rose, though he was in no way hurrying Jackson if she needed a moment to compose herself, and made one final statement before waiting for Stacey's response, "Our thoughts travel with you, Counselor, and the El Salvador shall follow them as soon as we are able. May your journey be free of incident."

(I'm going to post as if Captain Savot already told me that I was assigned to fly the shuttle, but I'm not going to post anybody leaving)
=^=Aft Shuttle Bay=^=
James walked inside the bay shortly after recieving orders that he was to fly Commander Jackson and possibly Commander Hope back to Earth. Once he arrived he walked over to Ensign Ortega the human female officer was standing next to shuttle seven. It could do warp four, but it was the fastest that they had. "Ensign make sure there are plently of supplies on board. Also transfer power from the phasers to the engines. In fact put as much power into the warp core."
"Yes sir."
He nodded and followed her watching as supplies were loaded into the shuttle if they could increase the warp speed to five it would cut the trip in half. He climbed aboard and began his preflight checks while pulling up another screen on the panel and began to feed as much power into the engines that he could locate. Once they had the power that they needed into the warp it was determined that it could go warp 4.92 which wasn't as high as he wanted, but it would have to do.
He looked at available personnel, for a co-pilot. He wanted to take Lieutenant Kelley, but it was best if he left her on the ship so that there was somebody to run the navigation department in his absense. Instead he selected Chief Robertson to co-pilot the shuttle. He had piloted shuttles in the past and he had a good handle on what he was doing. He tapped his commbadge, "Chief Robertson please report to the Aft Shuttle Bay for a shuttle ride to Earth. ASAP please."
Within moments Chief Robertson was in the shuttlebay and James had to commend the Chief on his quickness. His co-pilot had boarded the shuttle as the last of the supplies got on board and the four seats inside the shuttle were prepped. James and Robertson completed their preflight checkoff sheet checking systems and preparing the engines. All they had to do now was await Commander Jackson and Commander Hope, if she was coming, to arrive.

She was lead into the captains ready room by Savot, time seemed to be moving slower as the room seemed to spin around her. Her thoughts still racing she had to use all of her will power to concentrate on what Savot was saying. He offered her the use of a shuttle and a James Fire as well as have S’reena accompany her, for this Stacey was eternally grateful she wished she could express it properly but she just couldn’t. "I'm aware that no instruction for you not to worry will alleviate your concerns, but do attempt to focus on the fact that your son's situation is already being addressed by Starfleet Medical and as such he could not possibly be receiving better care than he currently is. Also, give your own reluctance to let wounds deter you no matter how grievous, it's logical to presume your son also has a strong will for survival; he will not give up." Stacey listened as she looked down at her feet, it was not the words that brought her comfort it was the calmness of the voice. She did not know whether it was a talent Savot had in general or the fact she had lived with Vulcan’s that made her more calm. His calm state seemed to seep through the room and effect those within it’s reach even Stacey who at this moment was alight with emotion. "Our thoughts travel with you, Counselor, and the El Salvador shall follow them as soon as we are able. May your journey be free of incident." Stacey looked up and offered a grateful look, as she rose to her feet she moved forward toward the door before turning back and saying. “Thank you.” Stacey stopped before the door opened and took a moment to take a deep breath and get her thoughts in order. She knew when she got to Earth she had to be strong if not for her sake but her sons. Her mind thought back to her time on Vulcan and all she had learned about controlling emotions. Being three quarters human and one quarter Betazoid she would never be as good as a Vulcan but she had learnt quite a bit. She walked out back onto the bridge, her face was red and her eyes still showed the time she had spent crying the only difference from before was as well as deep sadness and fear a look of determination was on her face. She looked to Mr. Fire and said. “Lieutenant please prepare a shuttle for departure, Captain Savot has given permission for you to pilot it back to Earth.. unless you have objection.” <tag Fire> Looking to S’reena Stacey said in a more softer tone. “The captain has been kind enough to allow me to have you with me.” Stacey walked to the turbolift but stopped before she entered, she didn’t turn around because she couldn’t say what she wanted to if she saw the faces looking at her in fear that she would break down in tears in front of them again. “I… Thank you all for you concern.. Please know it has touched me deeply… It is a moment that I will never forget.” She stepped into the turbolift and waited until the doors closed before she started to cry again. *** twenty minutes later *** Stacey walked into the shuttle bay her head hung low, she was too busy thinking things over to notice anyone. She got five steps inside when she bumped straight into James Fire. She looked up in shock and said. “Sorry.. wasn’t looking where I was going… I take it we are ready to leave as soon as Commander Hope arrives?” <Tag Fire> S’reena had yet to arrive but it didn’t bother Stacey all that much as she assumed S’reena was informing her family she was leaving, and Stacey could understand that. <Tag S’reena to enter> OOC: Mr Fire when Commander Hope posts feel free to get us on our merry way

"You're doing what!" Michael exclaimed, while picking up Jayvee from the floor, pulling the small jar of 'play-doh' from his hand then proceeded to pull a bit of a brightly coloured substance from the boy's mouth. His sibling Jeisen was screaming at the top of his lungs, when suddenly his playmate was gone. Surprisingly, Kyala remained absolutely silent, and apparently oblivious to the boy's screams.
"I am going to Earth, with Stacey," S'reena patiently explained, not at all surprised at her husband's exclamation. She'd been very reluctant to go off on her own since her accident, and this, in her own opinion at least, was a huge leap forward. It just meant leaving her family behind for several days. "Her son was injured and I've offered to go with her, she shouldn't go on her own."
Michael nodded, though S'reena never saw, obviously. "That's very noble of you, but are you sure it's wise? Not so long ago you didn't even want to go on an away team, let alone pilot the shuttle." Naturally, he'd heard about her argument with Wolf about the issue, nor had he forgotten about her arguments about the combat training. As medical officer, he had 'ears' all over the place.
"It's something I have to do, as a friend," S'reena answered irritably, while stuffing a clean uniform and a few casual items in her starfleet issue bag.
"Yes, of course." Michael knew how hard it was for his wife to make new friends, mostly due to her species. While born on Earth, she still ran into the general prejudices against Romulans and she suffered for it too. "Be careful?"
"I have Auric, and we'll have a pilot too. We're hardly on our own." She gave her children a hug, then gave Michael a tighter hug and a passionate kiss that lingered for several seconds. "I have to go, I'll call when we reach Earth, I promise."
Minutes later, she walked into the shuttlebay, all by herself and beelined for the shuttle. A junior officer caught her halfway, offering to be her guide. Gracefully, the Romulan accepted his aid, not wanting to hurt his feelings. "Thank you crewman," she told him as she climbed into the shuttle, again with his aid. "I apologise for being a little late. Fire her up Mr Fire." She chuckled. "No pun intended lieutenant, I assure you that unfortunate play of words was just that, unfortunate. As soon as we leave the ship, set course for Earth, maximum speed."

Stacey walked into the shuttle bay her head hung low, she was too busy thinking things over to notice anyone. She got five steps inside when she bumped straight into James Fire. She looked up in shock and said. “Sorry.. wasn’t looking where I was going… I take it we are ready to leave as soon as Commander Hope arrives?”
James felt her bump into him and turned, "It's fine Ma'am." He said watching as she climbed aboard he'd been standing there awaiting them having prepared the shuttle already when he heard voices outside the shuttlebay.
Nodded, "We are all ready to go Ma'am, and it's fine." He said speaking of her little pun that she'd made. He had a smile on his face when she'd made it. Having made sure that the Commander's were comfortable and the Auric was also well suited. He turned on his comm channel, "Okay Chief here we go." He started to speak into the comm next, "We are all ready Ensign Ortega please proceed with clearing the shuttle bay for take off."
"Understood sir. You are cleared for take off."
The shuttle bay doors would open shortly after the shuttle bay was cleared and depressurized the noise of the warning klaxons would sound until the shuttle was cleared of the doors and they would be closed shortly thereafter. "And, away we go chief bring the warp drive online once we are clear of the El'Salvador."
"We are clear sir, bringing up the warp drive now."
James nodded, "Good, now bring it to warp four point nine two. And, engage." He watched as the stars stretched out and in moments the ship behind them was gone from view. There course had been set and they would reach Earth in two hours...
=^=Two Hours Later=^=
The shuttle fell out of warp just shy of the planet, which always reminded him of this great marble. He smiled as he patched a commlink to Starfleet Medical where Commander Jackson's son was located, "This is shuttle seven of the USS El'Salvador are we cleared for landing?"
Down on the surface at Starfleet Medical they awaited the arrival of Commander Jackson, when they heard the commlink open and the voice of the pilot on board the shuttle from the El'Salvador
"Shuttle seven you are cleared for landing at pad two, it's the closest to the building. We are sending the location of his room."
James inserted a PADD into the panel and uploaded the directions and location of the room, "Here Ma'am." He handed the PADD to Commander Hope. That way she could lead Commander Jackson to the location, even though he knew she was blind from records he'd read he knew that was what the Auric was there for. As he was doing this Chief Robertson was landing the shuttle at Pad two.
<tag Hope>
He lowered the shuttle hatch so that they could get off as soon as the shuttle landed. He began doing a final check on the shuttle as the back hatch fell open a short hiss would sound as the cabin depressurized and gained the same atmospheric quality as what was outside. He smiled and turned to face Commander Jackson and Commander Hope, "Ma'am's we have arrived at our destination, Chief and myself will meet up with you inside momentarily. We will then proceed to the waiting room and contact the staff members in order to get us a place to sleep while we await for the El'Sal to return."
<tag Jackson/Hope>
=^=Bridge=^=
Shortly after the shuttle left Lieutenant Kelley would watch carefully making sure she guided the ship away so not to cause harm to either vessel. "Captain the shuttle is clear and on its way to Earth." Afterwards she would return to watching her station hoping that everything would be alright and that the shuttle would make its trip without error.
She sighed watching her panel for what seemed like another hour or so, when it was only really five minutes when finally another officer took her place on the bridge. She would go to her quarters and lay down on her mattress hoping to catch some sort of sleep. And, although she was having a difficult time with sleeping and the fact that she was worried, not so much about the shuttle, but about other things as well. She was worried about Commander Jackson's son, and she hoped that the shuttle made it to Earth without error or delay. But, she was certain that Lieutenant Fire was a good pilot, and he had Chief Robertson with him.

S'reena felt the PADD being placed in her hand and nodded. "Thank you lieutenant, I'm sure this'll be extremely helpful." She rose to her feet, pulling Stacey up next. "Come Stacey, the sooner we disembark the sooner you'll be with your son. Lieutenant, you may stand down from operations if you wish. I'm sure there's something you'd like to see while you're here on Earth. Just make sure you're able to return when called upon."
As the ranking officer, she felt sure that she was all right in giving such an order. She handed Stacey the PADD. "I think this is more useful to you, than it is to me. Please, lead the way." Soon enough they were entering the medical bay, where they were barred entrance, much to both women's surprise and annoyance.
"This is Commander Stacey Jackson," S'reena announced, giving Stacey a slight nudge forward, "her son is in critical condition, you will let her pass."
Annoyingly, the orderly would do no such thing, sticking to his orders that it was a restricted area and that they needed clearance to enter. Annoyed, S'reena sighed. "You will step aside lieutenant, we have clearance." On her shoulder, Auric chittered angrily, glaring balefully at the young man, who, much to his credit, never faltered form his post.
Giving another sigh, S'reena reached out, and grabbed the young man at the shoulder, at the right junction between neck and shoulder, without much effort on her part. She gave a squeeze and the lieutenant sagged to the deck, the Romulan not bothering to try and catch him as he did so. "I've always wanted to try that," she smirked, as they hurried along.
At the final set of doors, she could feel Stacey hesitate. "You should go in, I'll wait here," S'reena prodded, "your son needs you. Go to him." She felt her friend tremble under her touch. "I'm the one hating hospitals, and yet here I am....go on, go see him. I'll be fine, I promise." She shuddered, now that she remembered she actually wás in a hospital, and started to feel she needed fresh air as soon as possible. She resisted her natural urge to just bolt. "Go," she persisted. Auric added her own encouragement in a thrilling cheep.

He was manning the tatical station as the El-Sal finished her patrol. The news of Roberts leaving the ship still haunted him a little bot of them had started and worked there way up the ranks together on the El-Sal. Now it was just him sure they had a new crew and for the most part they seemed okay. It just wasn't something he was prepared for but he knew his friend had his reason.
The ship seemed kind of empety right now with hald the senior staff off ship. Commander Jackson son needed her and she needed her friends to make it through. He would have gone with them but duty kept him at his post. Captain Savot couldn't afford for all his senior staff to be off ship with the loss of Roberts it made things even harder. Still he had his duty to do andn would fill in on tatical until a replacement was sent, he didn't mind the double duty it kept his mind sharp and distracted which is what he wanted right now.
He had finished the last deep scan of the sector and was preparing for the next one. He looked up to see Irae hard at work at her new station he felt strange around her still but knew this would pass. He wondered if he would still feel this way if he was Vulcan but put that out of his head. While logic was a powerful tool emotion could be just as importan and he used his emotions to fuel him.
He wondered when they would get word from the rest of the staff, he hope things would work out for Commander Jackson he really did. Still there was alot of work that needed to be down with being short manned and less experienced officer manning the stations it was importan everybody watched out for each other. <Tag anybody>

James nodded, "Yes ma'am." He replied as he sat there finishing up with locking down the controls the the shuttle and watching as the guard fell he would give a light chuckle then return to his work. He smiled once it was complete and they were inside and would look towards the chief, "Your free to relax chief." He said and watched as the chief nodded and walked off the shuttle then James would turn and also exit the shuttle as the back hatch closed by his command key. Shortly thereafter he would make his way towards the entrance and step over the man who was still knocked out. He laughed again having decided that he would ask Commander Hope how to do that. He then made his way to one of the desks on the inside and looked at the female ensign sittiing behind it in a medical blue uniform.
He would begin to speak, "Yes I need four rooms reserved for those here to see Commander Stacey Jackson's son?" He would say and see that she nodded and began to set up the rooms. He nodded as she handed him four small PADD's containing the information for each room that was adjacent to eachother. Afterwards he would sit down in the waiting room seeing that Chief Robertson was there. He handed him one of the PADD's to his room and would tap his commbadge, "Lieutenant Fire to Commander Hope. I have gotten rooms so that we have a place to sleep until the El'Sal returns. I am in the waiting room with Chief Robertson."

S’reena accompanied Stacey as they made their way towards the hospital wing that Dean was in. After a little confrontation with a security officer that ended up with him being on the receiving end of a Vulcan nerve pinch by Commander Hope, they finally made it to the door behind which was the ward he was in.
Stacey stopped still it felt as if a force field was keeping her from stepping forward, she was scared of what she would see once she got to him.
S’reena urged to go forward, and for a second she was about to make a break for it, but just as she was about too something clicked. She took a deep breath and she stepped through the doors.
Looking down the long hall she swallowed hard her son was in one of the rooms that branched out from the corridor. She walked forward a few metres until she reached a nurses station, a middle aged woman sat behind the counter she was a lt. Commander and Stacey assumed she was the nurse in charge.
“Excuse me I am looking for…”
The nurse raised her hand and cut Stacey off without looking at her and said in a curt tone. “Take a seat over there I am busy.”
Stacey narrowed her eyes and slammed her hand down on the counter, “Stand up Commander.”
The nurse looked up with a scowl on her face but did as she was told.
Stacey continued. “When addressed by a senior officer you come to attention… you refer to them by rank or Ma’am and most importantly you answer their questions… now tell me where Dean Jackson-Smith is before I bust you down Ensign.”
The nurse swallowed. “Room fourteen.. Ma’am.”
Stacey swivelled on her heels and made her way to room fourteen.
Several seconds later she stood at the door, she took a few deep breaths before stepping forward..
Stacey took in a deep breath in shock as she saw her Son laying on the bed out cold, his breathing was shallow and his colour looked pale. Stacey rushed over to him and sat by his bed.

OCC: sorry for my abrupt vacation, I'm back now I wanted to post sooner but it was hectic at work.
On char: Sam walked on the bridge and looked around. There were a lot of unfamiliar faces on the bridge. With half the senior officers gone to Earth it was quit. Sam had finshed his work in sickbay. He has invited some of the crew for there anual physical. He needed to "invite" 2 officers. Capt. Savot and Col. Wolf. The first officer he spotted was Col. Wolf. "Col. can I have a word with you?" Sam asked [Tag: Wolf]
"I just checked the physical schedual and it seems that you are over due. Can I make an apointment with you?" Sam asked [Tag: Wolf]
"Good thank you for your co-operation. I also got a personal request." Sam asked "I need to recertify my self on phaser & combat readyness. Can you take the exams and give me a crash course?" [Tag: Wolf]
"Thank you Col. See you then" Sam answered
**So on to the capt.** Sam thought **Don't know how much effort that will take.**
--Capt readyroom-- The bell went. "Enter." Savot said and Sam entered "Sir your anual physical is just about due. I'd like to make an apointment for as soon as possible? " Sam said [Tag: Savot]

Looking up from his station as the new chief medical officer arrived on the bridge. He notice the Doc make a bee line for him and knew what he wanted.
"I just checked the physical schedual and it seems that you are over due. Can I make an apointment with you?"
He hated physicals but it wouldn't do for him to skip it, he didn't want his marines following his bad Example. " Not a problem Doc I get of shift in a few hours I can stop by your dugen of pain" He laught a little so the Doc would know he was joking.
When the doc spoke up again he was cuaght of guard a little
"Good thank you for your co-operation. I also got a personal request." Sam asked "I need to recertify my self on phaser & combat readyness. Can you take the exams and give me a crash course?"
He wasn't use to training the ships crew like this that was Roberts department. Since he was gone it now became his for the moment. He didn't have a problem giving the Doc a hand it was always better to be prepared then caught short.
" I will be more the happy to help you pass the test and give you some refresher Doc. I can set up a time of your choosing and we meet. I general try to make it a little intersting for you to help you focus and past the test. I find that with creativity you would be amazed how easy it is and less tressful then trying to shoot plain targets. I also disengaged the counter so you dont hear it going off. Let me know when you might want to do this and I'll instruct you not a problem"

Savot sat watching the shuttle's departure on the viewer, Lieutenant Kelley signalling it had cleared, "Very good, Lieutenant, resume assigned patrol course." Overall, they'd probably be able to complete their patrol within the next 16 hours and then be on their way to Earth. Savot wasn't really concerned with rushing; however, since there wasn't anything additional the crew could do for Jackson's son that wasn't being done already, and she'd probably be in with him most of the time so their moral support would have to wait anyway.
Shortly thereafter, Roberts also departed having requested an extended leave. The vulcan captain wished him well and regretted the loss of a competent officer, but was confident Wolf would be able to handle tactical until another Tactical officer was acquired. Thankfully, their patrol turned up no immediate need for defensive systems as all they catalogued were various routine spacial anamolies.
A few hours later the Doctor came to the bridge to schedule physicals for both Wolf and Savot; the vulcan was in the Ready Room at the moment and K'vada explained his presence after entering, "Sir your anual physical is just about due. I'd like to make an apointment for as soon as possible?"
Savot nodded, "Indeed, my previous evaluation is only valid for another 4.2 days by my calculation. My duty shift ends in 2 hours, if you're available I'll come to sickbay at that time."
<K'vada response>
********************************
<Any procedural description K'vada wants to insert>
Savot thanked the doctor after his physical was completed and to his satisfaction he was quite healthy. He then retired to his quarters for the evening, changing into a Starfleet Issue grey sleeveless shirt and black shorts for his usual sleeping attire. After adding some goldfish food to Alfred's tank, and spending a little over an hour in cross-legged meditation, the vulcan dimmed the lights and went to sleep.
******************************************
The next morning saw the vulcan returned to the bridge, overseeing the final stages of their patrol assignment and an hour after lunchtime the El Salvador was ready to depart. Signing off on the final sensor reports from the science labs who'd been scanning the region, Savot then nodded towards the front of the bridge, "Lieutenant Kelley, plot course for Earth and engage at Warp 5."
"Commander Irae, tell the crew our intended destination and inform them that while we are not on leave as a whole, any crewmen wishing to make use of accumulated leave time may request that it be granted subject to my approval. However, as the duration of our visit is uncertain any personnel leaving the ship must be reachable at all times so they can be recalled if needed", as Savot completed his instructions, the El Salvador leapt to Warp and the stars became lances of brightness stretched across the cosmos on the viewer.

An hour passed with Stacey sitting beside his bed, she was talking to him about anything and everything had he been awake he would have no doubt gone insane from all Stacey’s talking and ran out of the room screaming.
The door to his room opened causing Stacey to look up and see who it was, a woman in her early twenties walked in.
She had short blonde hair, and Stacey was sure she would be very attractive if not for the fact she looked like she had not slept in days, she walked forward to Stacey and said.
“Are you one of the doctors?... can you tell me what is wrong now?”
Stacey looked at her confused for a moment trying to remember if she had met the woman before.
She stood up and said. “And who are you?”
The woman moved uncomfortably as she replied a little irately. “I told the nurse outside I am his fiancé and have a right to now how he is.”
Stacey’s eyes widened as she looked from Dean to the young woman and then back again.
The young woman suddenly looked embarrassed and she moved forward. “Your not the doctor are you… you’re his…”
Stacey looked back to the woman and finished the sentence for her. “Mother.”
“ah Dean is going to be upset when he wakes up then.” The young woman said.
Stacey raised her eyebrow as she asked. “Oh why is that?”
“I am Jennifer Morgan… Dean wanted to tell you in person… we had arranged to visit you next month… I.” Jennifer said with a rather nervous tone of voice.”
Stacey smiled as she sat back down. “I am sure under the circumstances he wouldn’t mind.”
Stacey’s head then whipped around and looked at the closest computer panel she jumped out of her seat as she realised she had been in there an hour and S’reena was probably still waiting for her.
Stacey couldn’t imagine that S’reena was enjoying herself sat in a waiting room especially one in a hospital, Stacey looked to Jennifer and said. “I will be back in a minute dear.”
Rushing out of the room Stacey went back to where S’reena and her had split ways, Stacey looked around until she saw S’reena sat rather uncomfortably in a chair. Walking up to S’reena Stacey said.
“I am so sorry S’reena I forgot you were waiting for me…. I know you hate hospitals… you are more than welcome to go if you like… Dean is going to be fine… until he wakes up at which time he is in big trouble.”

S'reena paced the length of the hall, not once but at least a dozen times. She desperately wanted to leave the hospital but felt that wouldn't be far to Stacey. She wanted to provide moral support but dared not enter the room. Several times, she'd stood at the door, her hand poised over the handle before she changed her mind and paced back to the other door.
In between those times, she had helped the downed guard back to his feet, profoundly apologising to him for using a Vulcan nerve pinch on him. "Honestly, I didn't think I was actually capable of pulling it off," she had said. Fortunately, the guard could see the humour of the situation and promised that if she wouldn't tell, he wouldn't either.
The guard studied her, sensing her sincerity, then realised the woman was blind. "How did you manage?" he asked, waving his hand before her face to satisfy his curiosity. "You're blind, how did you know where I was to pull it off?"
S'reena smiled thinly, not appreciating the guard's bluntness. "That's ma'am to you," she snapped at him, "I am quite certain that I do outrank you."
"Yes ma'am," the guard replied smartly, though curiosity got the better of him. "How did you do it ma'am?" he repeated.
"I have my ways. Let's leave it at that. I am no telepath but I have my ways. Surely you know Romulans are not telepaths."
"There are known to be some, but obviously you aren't..." the guard hazarded.
"Don't you have duties to attend to? Elsewhere?"
"Yes ma'am. Do you need assistance?"
"Do I look like I do?" S'reena was starting to get irritated with the guard.
"No ma'am, I apologise for my presumption. With your permission?"
"Snap to it," the Romulan replied tersely, then continued her pacing for another several long minutes. After a while she sank down on a bench and just sat in silence, growing more apprehensive and worried by the minute. She jumped to her feet when she heard someone approach.
“I am so sorry S’reena I forgot you were waiting for me…. I know you hate hospitals… you are more than welcome to go if you like… Dean is going to be fine… until he wakes up at which time he is in big trouble.”
"I'm relieved to hear that," the Romulan replied, letting concern filter through into her voice. "I'm sure you'll tell me later what his trouble will be then. I'll go find James and see if he wants to see the city." With a warm squeeze to her friend's shoulder, S'reena turned and let Auric lead the way to the exit.
"Mr Fire, would you care to accompany me to the city? Perhaps we could tour around a little. It's a warm day, it should be enjoyable." She hesitated. "Unless you would rather go off on your own?"

Savot nodded, "Indeed, my previous evaluation is only valid for another 4.2 days by my calculation. My duty shift ends in 2 hours, if you're available I'll come to sickbay at that time."
"Thank you capt. you are the first captain of admiral I won't have to order to report for their annual physical." Sam said.
--Sickbay 2h later-- Savot entered. "Hello capt. Punctual as ever." Sam said "Please sit down on the biobed." Savot sat down "I'll begin with a general scan and later on I'll do a metabolic and neurological scan." Sam said as he began scanning "Any physical complaints?" "None Doctor." Savot replied "Your general scan is normal, I think this will be a routine physical." Sam said
^^Half an hour later^^ Sam finished the neurological scan. "Capt. you are in perfect health. All you scans are normal, don't worry." Sam said "I never worry Doctor." Savot replied "Well it's a figure of speech. The next physical will be in about one year." Sam answered Savot thanked the doctor and left sickbay.
^^an other 30 minutes later^^ Col Wolf entered. "If every one today is as punctual as these patients I'll be home ASAP." Sam joked to the nurse "Good to see you Col. Shall we get started?" "Please" Wolf answered "The first thing I'll do is general scan and later on I'll do a metabolic and neurological scan." Sam said "Any physical complaints?"

Stacey’s comm. Badge beeped and she sighed as she looked at her friend S’reena squirm uncomfortably because she was in the middle of a hospital.
Stacey tapped her comm. Badge and said rather curtly. =/\= Commander Jackson?=/\=
Stacey rolled her eyes as she replied/ =/\= Yes what can I do for you? =/\=
The voice on the other end was soft spoken and polite as he replied. =/\= Just informing you Ma’am Lieutenant James Fire has been transferred.. your captain has been informed and your ship is on it’s way back to earth. =/\=
The comm. Channel closed and Stacey said to S’reena. “I am hungry fancy some lunch?”
S'reena nodded silently, wondering why Stacey was doing this for her, instead of staying with her son. They walked a few paces in silence, before the Romulan stopped and turned. "How is Dean doing?" she asked quietly.
Stacey smiled as she replied. “I snuck a peak at his medical file he is through the worst of it for now… He is going to be fine… I think his new Fiancé would like some time alone with him.” Stacey’s voice got deeper as she said sarcastically. “Before he wakes up and I kill him.”
The Romulan looked horrified, missing the sarcasm in the other woman's voice altogether. "You come all this way and then kill him for something like that?" She took a deep breath, trying to calm her thoughts before Auric would have a fit. "So...he's getting married...is the girl anything like you? I've heard Human men often select a woman who reminds them of their mother." She grinned sheepishly. "I just heard, I'm not Human how should I know?"
Stacey giggled. “I was joking it is a rather bad figure of speech.” Stacey sighed as they continued to walk. “Yes she is rather polite and very attractive… I wouldn’t say like me she seems more reserved and softer spoken.” Stacey rubbed her eyes in a sign of fatigue. “And I am very happy for him about the engagement… I am not so happy about her being pregnant though… not that she has told me she is pregnant but her bump is showing and a woman knows these things.”
"She's pregnant?" S'reena smiled. "So you're worried then that this is a convenience marriage rather than love?" She shook her head. "I don't know your son, but I do know you...and I don't think he'd marry her solely for that. Not if I've you to set as a guideline."
Stacey sighed in guilt. “No I am sure they are madly in love and I am delighted he will have a family… in truth I am not so happy about being called a grandmother I have always been sensitive about my age since hitting fifty… It is a selfish thing I know… I will get over it as soon as I see my grandchild though.” She wouldn’t have admitted such a thing to many people but S’reena was one of them
"Then tell her you don't want your grandchild to call you grandma," S'reena suggested, "it's not so strange for grandchildren to call their grandparent by their name. I always called my grandmother by her name. Because that's how my parents referred to her." She hesitated. "Not that I ever knew my grandparents, we lost contact when we fled the Empire."
Stacey smiled as she shook her head slightly. “Your taking me too literally it’s not being called Grandmother it is being a grandmother In general.. I just wasn’t ready for that… Grandmothers are supposed to be at home babysitting and spoiling the grandchildren… I still have a career… I am going to miss a lot of things.”
"I highly doubt that." S'reena smiled wistfully. "I wish I had known my grandparents, but Michael's parents are in frequent contact, they know all about their grandchildren, despite never having seen them in person. With the El-Salvador coming here, I hope to remedy that. I'm sure Michael would like to visit his parents and his brother." She paused. "Silly I never really thought about visiting them before...In all those years, I've never really been back to Earth. Or my home town...or even my own parents. Silly, isn't it?"
Stacey stopped and put her hand on S’reena’s, “You haven’t seen your parents in that long… they must miss you terribly… Australia is just a transporter away.. you should go see them.” They exited the hospital and walked down the path through a beautiful park until they reached a small café sitting down at an outdoor table they were approached by a waiter who asked. “What can I get you lovely ladies?”
"Green tea and a crispy chicken salad," S'reena ordered, briefly distracted from their conversation. "I suppose I could go see them...while we wait for the ship. Would you come with me?" She suddenly seemed apprehensive. "I don't want to face them alone, not like this." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "They don't know..."
Stacey looked over the menu for a moment before saying. “Black Coffee please and umm Strawberry cheesecake.” Stacey gave him a smile as the waiter walked back into the café. She looked to S’reena and said. “Of Course I would be more than happy to accompany you… I hadn’t realised you had not told your parents about the accident.”
"I haven't had the courage," the Romulan confessed, "and now that it's certain I'll never see again, it's inevitable that I do tell them. I just am afraid of their reaction. I'm sure T'rell wouldn't say much, I mean he's always been the protective big brother." She paused again. "He knows though and he wouldn't have told them, I'm quite sure he wouldn't have. I don't know if he's home." She hadn't seen her brother for quite some time either, the last time had been before the triplets were born. "We should go back so you can check on Dean, before we visit my parents," she suggested, "but after we've eaten. You mentioned being hungry, I'm famished." Auric warbled in response, indicating that she was hungry too.
“Yeah I will check in before we go and leave contact details with his nurses in case he wakes up.” After the waiter delivered the food and drink they ate in relative silence

A few hours later, S'reena stood in the garden of her paternal home. She shielded her eyes against the glare of the sun - more automatically than necessity since she was blind - then walked down the long path that would lead her to the house, feeling the gravel beneath her feet.
She heard voices as she approached the big house, then heard feet gaining speed as they came running. S'reena gasped as she was seized in a strong hug. "T'Rell, please," she urged her older brother, somewhat embarassed.
"Aww little sister, you're such a spoil sport." He let her go suddenly, giving a startled cry as Auric dived at him, talons extended. "Hey, stop that!"
"Auric!" S'reena gave a sharp command and the little gold stopped her diving. "T'Rell this is my companion Auric. Auric, don't attack him, he's my brother." The gold chirped in response, then headed off to settle in a gumtree. Far off, a Galah shrieked in song. S'reena smiled; she was home.
"Where's Michael?" T'Rell asked quietly, "mom and dad are anxious to meet him."
"The El-Salvador is on her way to Earth," S'reena explained, "I left early with a shuttle to accompany the counselor. Her son was injured and I didn't want to have her go alone. She helped me so much, I owed her this much. Besides, she's my friend, and she'll come visit as soon as she's done in the hospital."
Now, T'Rell froze and turned to look at his sibling. He cocked his head as he studied her, noticed how she didn't seem to look at him. "What happened to you little sister?" he asked quietly, "don't hide from me. I can sense you're hiding."
S'reena groaned, remembering T'Rell was slightly empathic, just as Yarna. "I'm blind T'Rell, don't make a fuss of it. I don't want to panic mom and dad, all right?"
The Romulan male threw his arm around his sister, then guided her into the house. "Not my place to tell, you have my promise. So, El-Salvador is on her way, that means they finally get to meet Michael? And your children, they're well?"
S'reena nodded. "As well as expected." She halted as she heard more footsteps, then felt herself being hugged yet again, this time by her parents. "Dad please, I'm not a little girl, put me down!" She felt herself being lifted clear from the carpet.
Her father set her down, a smile on his face. "I'm glad you've decided to visit," he beamed down on her, "T'Rell heard you had arrived and we'd hoped you'd come. Where's the rest?"
"Soon dad...Stacey should be arriving soon; she's a friend of mine. And she's Human dad, so please...behave?" She turned around. "I missed this, the fresh air, the birds, the sun..." She tilted her head, listening. "There's something you should know.."
S'reena reached behind her to a seat, then sat down. Quietly, she filled her family in on the last few years of her life, more particularly her accident, her recovery and her new life aboard the El-Salvador. "If he's willing, I'll invite him down," she promised, knowing her parents would ask. "Don't count on it though, he's Vulcan. I don't think he'd appreciate the business of a Romulan family home."
"He could go out and walk," her mother suggested gently, "plenty of space for his peace of mind."
"Oh quite," S'reena laughed. "Just don't count on it, but I promise I'll ask."
