Andrus completed his brief report to Cmdr Jackson. He turned and saw the ship's captain who said "Greetings, Ensign Andrus. I'm Captain Savot, allow me to welcome you, albeit belatedly, aboard the El Salvador".
Andrus managed a weak smile and said "Thank You Captain - I look forward to great service on baord" .
<tag Savot>
As the Captain replied, Andrus soaked in the atmosphere on the bridge. He had yet to pull a shift on the bridge. that would soon change.

Savot nodded as Andrus managed a weak smile and said, "Thank You Captain - I look forward to great service on board."
"Your records indicate you will perform most satisfactorily, Ensign", the vulcan replied. "With regard to our current assignment, after the landing party beams down the El Salvador is to remain at Yellow Alert with her shields activated. There is no proof of Romulan presence here as yet but if any ships arrive they could be cloaked and ambush the ship so caution is warranted."
Jackson then got Savot's attention and said, “We should get down there sir the government leaders would have been informed of our arrival and be on their way to the meeting place.”
The vulcan nodded a farewell to Andrus before entering the turbolift with the others and descending towards the transporter room.
******************************************
After Andrus had finished meeting the CO, he walked over to his chief. He asked him to review the operation of the tac/sec stations. Andrus had reviewed the manuals but wanted an experienced hand to run over them with him.
Zak nodded and began explaining the basic layout of the El Sal's tactical controls. He didn't bother explaining the simple functions since Andrus was already a trained officer, but he showed the Andorian the console layout in general since no two Tactical consoles were identical once different Tactical officers configured them to their own preferences.
"Standard shield controls and strength readouts are here, and on the right are the controls for remotely firing the weapons of each module when we enter Multi-Vector-Assault-Mode and separate into 3 smaller ships."
"Here on the upper display is a schematic of the ship which will highlight areas in red if any hostiles get aboard. Ship's phasers are self-explanatory, and this readout will display a status report on any launched torpedoes; that way if we miss the target we'll be able to track the torpedoes' movements and make sure it doesn't go wild and hit an ally."
The Gorn continued going over the various aspects of the station, occasionally glancing upward at his superior to make sure Andrus was following the explanations.

The ride to the transporter room was quite, he had to admit right now he wouldn't mind being stuck on the ship at least then he wouldn't have to dress up in the monkey suite. It was odd to see everybody dressed up even more to see Commander Jackson in red. Still he had a job to do. He would be one of the two security officer allowed in the room, the other was petty officer O'Brien. The Chief had done a good job selecting the team O'Brien had a long history of diplomat protection before joining the ship.
Following behind the captain the and the rest of the staff, they arrived at the transporter room. Some of the security detail had beam down a few minutes ealier to set up. With a quite nod he and O'Brien quickly to the outside pads to make sure the Captain, Commander Jackson and Commander Hope were inside a protective circle. His personal issues about recent events would have to take a back seat.
He waited for the captain to give the go ahead, He quitely tapped his combadge '' alpha team El-Salvador one is on the move will arrive shortly make sure all protocals are in place. Monitor us once we arrive and are on the move. Secure the route to the diplomats and hold short of there locations. These are peace talks do not want to give the wrong image right off the bat"
He looked up at the captain he was feeling on edge he didn't like having all the El-Salvador high ranking officers down on the planet at the same time. There was very little he could do about that, to top it off he had Commander Hope as well while she was a out standing officer and fighter, she would be the soft target because of her blindness. If he were to plan an attack he would go for her first to force the Captain or Commnader Jackson to rescue her. He chuckled a little because who ever went after Commander Hope would have there hands full.

As Choef Zak explained the SEC/TAc console, Andrus relaxed. The Gorn was a heck of a good man and had been a big help in getting the younder Andorian squared away.
"The system does not seem too complex - Chief - thanks yet a gain" Andrus added.

Andrus saw the subdermal indcators were working . He hoped there would be no field blocking their coverage planet-side.
He scanned the readouts and thought ~so far so good~. A terran friend named Tom Jackson told told hiom this was a tiem when he should "Cross your fingers" he had never understood the saying till now.

~this takes place after the physical~
S'reena found her way down to the transporter room, Auric hovering above her, chittering excitedly. The Romulan shook her head in bemusement, wondering what was so special about going on an away mission. It wasn't her first one, but this one was, in a way, special in it's own right. For once, she was sort of an observer, not in a lead role of any sort, and this once, it suited her just fine. In a way, she was very relieved to not be the one to make decisions of command scale any longer. Now, she was just a scientist, trying to do her part.
Without aid, though not intending to deny it, should it be offered, S'reena stepped up to the transporter pad. She accepted a slight nudge from an attending transporter officer, so she covered the pad entirely. She smiled gently, then opened her tricorder, so it would record as soon as they beamed down.
She felt the familiar sensation of being scrambled and put together, and was only momentarily phased by it, recovering quickly as usual. Her tricorder beeped steadily as she held it before her, scanning left and right. It had recorded the re-activation of what appeared to be a bio-field, which no doubt would keep them safe. From what, however, would have to be discovered eventually.
There were many buildings, some of which used to be fairly tall and statuesque in appearance. Now, many were reduced to a few stories high, piles of bricks and other rubble at the base of the buildings. Some even lacked the whole front face. If S'reena had been able to see all this, she would've frozen in place, a shocked expression on her face.
Instead, she calmly listened to the footsteps of the others and focused on them for direction. She passed what used to be a fountain, but was now recuded to a leaking wreckage. She felt the soils squish under her feet, but didn't think too much of it. She walked on, feeling the path's unevenness, which was her first acknowledgement of being in what used to be a warzone. "Captain, Commander," she called ahead. "I need some input, what do you see? I can't analyse my scans right now, but perhaps I can have some time to do so, while you meet with the ambassador?" She presumed it was an ambassador they were meeting, she had no real idea of what to expect.

The Gorn rolled his eyes as Andrus expressed more gratitude, "The system does not seem too complex - Chief - thanks yet again." He understood the Andorian was being polite and that was good in an officer, but a compromise needed to be made.
"Sssir, I imagine my unparalleled geniusss will astound you on an hourly basisss. However, if you can bring yourself to limit your 'Thank yous' to 1 per week, I promise I'll get by sssomehow on just that and continue to advissse you as bessst I can", Zak grinned in addition to the sarcastic tone that laced his words to assure his superior that while he was being somewhat flippant... it was all in good fun.
<Andrus>
The Chief then stood from the tactical station and moved to the side while gesturing towards the chair, "Take a seat, boss."

Stepping up onto the transporter platform and nodding at the transporter chief, Stacey was embraced by the transporter beam and seconds later her and the other senior staff were no longer standing in safety on the El Salvador but were standing in the middle of a heavily bombed city. Stacey looked around at the awesome amount of damage the buildings and streets had suffered, she was stunned and immediately felt the awesome responsibility that she and Captain Savot shared in trying to make this peace work. "I need some input, what do you see? I can't analyse my scans right now, but perhaps I can have some time to do so, while you meet with the ambassador?" Stacey turned to the source of the question and moved closer to S’reena and said. “We see death… forget the scans we are not staying in this area.” Tapping her comm. Badge she said. “Jackson to El Salvador… please check our location and then get us to the correct place.” After a few seconds she heard the response. “You are correct Commander you are in the capital city of the Western Continent… sorry for the mix up.” Stacey grinned and said. “No problem Chief just get us in the right place.” The team was again embraced by the transporter beam and seconds later stood in front of a large white building that unlike the ones she had just seen was undamaged and in perfect condition. The group was soon approached by an elderly woman who walked with a slight limp in her left leg, she looked up at the group and said. “I am Terena… I have been asked to escort you inside.. which of you is Captain Savot?” <tag Savot> She looked him over for a moment before saying. “You will be escorted to the east enterence where you will greet the King.” She scanned the group again and asked. “And Jackson which of you is Jackson?” Stacey stepped forward and said. “Jackson would be me.” She looked Jackson over for a few moments before saying. “You will be escorted to the West entrance where you will greet the President… then you will both escort the guests to the main banquet hall where a small lunch will be served.” Stacey stepped back and leaned in to both Wolf and S’reena and whispered. “Scan the area S’reena and Accompany the Captain but remember don’t speak directly to the king leave that to the Captain… Mr. Wolf find the security liaisons from the West and East and make sure this place is secure….I want it so a mouse couldn’t get in” Stacey turned to the Captain and said. “Sir… you remember what I said earlier… Your Majesty or Sir Oh and don’t touch him.” Stacey was ushered away by a few delegates from the West and made her way to the Western Entrance as Savot was led to the Eastern Entrance. <Tag Wolf Savot S’reena>. After making it into the transporter room Stacey turned and looked at the assembled members of command staff or security and said.
“Now we need to be careful down there… don’t say anything on behalf of the federation to anyone we don’t want anyone to commit the federation to anything… like continued aid or economical aid… the federation council wants to be sure they mean business this time and will stick to the peace terms.”
She turned to captain Savot and said. “Anything you would like to add sir?”
Though it was usually customary for the Captain to say something just prior to beginning a mission to 'rally the troops' so to speak, there honestly was nothing further needed beyond what Commander Jackson had already conveyed. Savot shook his head slightly at her inquiry and stepped onto the transporter pad with the rest of the Away Team.
When they coalesced on the planet surface, Savot took in the savagery of war. He himself firmly believed there were principles worth fighting for and injustices that demanded fighting against... but the cost of such fighting was always far higher than anyone expected. The vulcan captain turned to respond to his Science Officer but Jackson was already attending to it and quickly got them transported to the correct coordinates. In most situations mistakes like that were better avoided, but Savot found it appropriate that the landing party be treated to a glimpse of the stakes...
************************************
Upon their arrival moments later at the pristine building which would presumably house the peace negotiations, the group was soon approached by an elderly woman who walked with a slight limp in her left leg, she looked up at the group and said. “I am Terena… I have been asked to escort you inside.. which of you is Captain Savot?”
Savot took a single step forward and nodded his head slightly in identification, "I am Savot." It was a stark response, but no further data had been requested and the vulcan didn't want to delay the proceedings with comparative frippery so he stopped at that.
Terena looked him over for a moment before saying. “You will be escorted to the east entrance where you will greet the King.” Savot nodded his understanding of his initial role.
The woman looked Jackson over for a few moments before saying. “You will be escorted to the West entrance where you will greet the President… then you will both escort the guests to the main banquet hall where a small lunch will be served.”
Savot could then hear Jackson's soft instructions to Hope and Wolf, and aside from mentally starting to calculate the statistical probability of a mouse-like native creature gaining entry to the building through potential weaknesses in the framework, the vulcan captain didn't interject. Stacey then turned to the Captain and said. “Sir… you remember what I said earlier… Your Majesty or Sir Oh and don’t touch him.”
Arching an almost amused eyebrow at the notion of him touching the King, Savot bowed his head in reply, "My memory is sound, Commander. Rest assured I will use the correct appellation and refrain from violating his person." His tone was mid-range as usual but with enough softening in it to convey that he wasn't being snippy back at Jackson offended that she'd question his memory. He understood and shared her sense of duty in this matter and appreciated the care with which she approached this most serious of tasks.
Stacey was ushered away by a few delegates from the West and made her way to the Western Entrance as Savot was led to the Eastern Entrance. The vulcan let his footfalls land a bit more heavily than usual to provide an additional auditory focus for Commander Hope's navigation, and his clasped his hands behind him as he followed the 'ushers' to the appointed place.
Outside the entrance the Starfleet group arrived a few moments before a procession rather rife with pomp and ceremony. The foremost figured was followed closely by numerous attendants and a younger male garbed almost as ostentatiously.
Savot stepped a single stride forward and raised his right hand in the customary salute of his people, "Greetings, Your Highness. I am Savot of Vulcan, Captain of the Federation starship El Salvador. This is my Science Officer Commander S'reena Hope." He indicated the romulan female with a turn and nod of his head before turning back to the King, bowing slightly at the waist, "We come to serve."
(Not sure which group Wolf went with but I figured two PC's in each made sense. If I'm mistaken just assume Savot also introduced Wolf as SMO.)
(Additionally: Those who have not done so, PLEASE report in on the Roll Call thread like usual. I understand posting here means you're obviously present, but as explained before it gives people a clearer picture of what to expect from their crewmates over the month if everyone's presence is recorded in one spot.)

As teh AWAY mission beamed down, Andrus made sure he kept a tight lock on them as a 'just in case' measure.
Chiwef Zak had done a fgreat job explaining the conmsole to him. For now he would use the default settings until he got more comfortable.
~ so far so good~ he thought and watched to see what would happen. He had made everything he could think of ready. -------------------------------------------- Ensign Andrus CTSO USS El Salvador-B

S'reena hurried after the captain, easily keeping up with his long strides. She was in generally fit condition, and worked out as frequently as was possible, between her duties and the care for her children. Auric remained perched on her shoulder, half-hidden by her hair, chirping in annoyance at being jostled so much. Yet the little creature didn't take flight, obeying the firm order to remain where she was.
When she heard him speak to the king, she remained silent. After all, her instructions had been not to speak up to the local royalty, and she wasn't intent on starting a diplomatic uprising. In silence, she listened to the exchange of pleasantries and only inclined her head in acknowledgement of her own introduction. She still had little idea on why she was here exactly, but with her tricorder activated, it was at least taking in the building as much as was possible.
Since she had no idea where exactly this king was located, she didn't turn to face him, having only the vague sense of Savot standing fairly close by. And thát she only knew, because of Auric, because her little companion knew the captain, and could identify him. Keeping her hands folded before her, she smiled serenely as she listened in concentration, keeping watch. The Romulan always expected trouble, no matter how peaceful relations were supposed to be. And despite being relatively unarmed, she wasn't defenseless, and she stood ready, though her outward appearance was of compliance and ease.

As there group broke up he stayed with Commander Jackson as O'Brian went with the captain's party to meet the king. He was never big on royalt so it was best for him to stay with commander Jackson. He followed closely behind her scanning the area as they went to meet there party.
Tapping his combadge "Mr. Andrus we have arrived and are meeting the diplomats now keeps scanning the area and monitoring our positions. If anything looks even the slightest bit strange no matter how small I want to know about okay. Oh by the way you lucked out not have to dress up. wolf out"
He followed there escort and kept quite the entire time, his job was to protect not make small talk. He still had to meet his counter parts and get a feel for them, alot could be said by the way they acted. So far everything was going to plan for the moment and in his heart he was hoping he was making a big deal over nothing. He could tell Commander Jackson seemed a bit nervous her first week on the job as FO and she was responsable for trying to make peace. Sometimes it paid not to be a command officer sometimes anyway as they apporached the group he came up a long her side to react if needed.

Post by SA. Stacey Jackson [Ret] on May 14, 2009 13:04:07 GMT
Stacey Jackson closely followed the young man who led her to the entrance that was for the President and her staff, Stacey could hear someone keeping pace with her just behind her. She didn’t need to look back to know it was Colonel Wolf… and after Wolf started conversing with Ensign Andrus who was monitoring the situation from the El Salvador she turned and gave him a small smile.
After the relatively short walk she stood in front of a relatively large metal door, the lights on the side of which started to glow before it slowly slid open, Stacey straightened her back and cleared her throat.
Seconds later a woman leading a large entourage of military and civilian personnel walked out of the door and stopped in front of Jackson and Wolf.
Stacey stepped forward and bowed her head slightly before saying.
“Madame President… I am Commander Stacey Jackson First Officer of the Federation Starship El Salvador.” Nodding at Colonel Wolf, she said. “And this is Colonel Wolf senior Marine officer he will be acting as Security liaison between your government and the Kings.”
The President stepped forward and despite her rather young age carried a sense of wisdom in her step. “Well now we have that done with Commander Let us go to the ridiculous wast of time lunch so we can get to what we are really here for.”
Stacey nodded and gave a curt smile before wondering if the Captain was having as much luck with the King.
*** The King and his entourage***
"Greetings, Your Highness. I am Savot of Vulcan, Captain of the Federation starship El Salvador. This is my Science Officer Commander S'reena Hope."
The King took a step forward and examined Savot closely; he gave a small nod and said. “It is a pleasure to meet you Captain.”
He turned ad pointed to the man who had stayed two paces behind him. “This is my Son the Prince.”
The Prince seemed to gaze at Commander Hope a little too long; he had a look of confusion on his face but not confusion alone fear as well. The King began to walk the short distance to the banquet hall not at all looking forward to meeting his counterpart.
***Banquet Hall***
Stacey, Wolf and the people from Democratic government arrived first and Stacey gazed around the rather large hall, the Flags of both governments adorned the walls and about twenty tabled were set up for people to eat and begin getting used to being in the same room.
It was not long before Captain Savot and Commander Hope, walked in from the other side. Stacey suddenly felt very nervous about being in the middle of the two groups, she was not afraid of a firefight but rather a war of words breaking out. Captain Savot was calm and collected as he always was and Stacey envied him at that moment in time. The President and her entourage slowly moved towards the group lead by the King and his people. Stacey noticed that the Deputy President she had met just minutes ago was no longer in the group she was escorting; she did not find it that odd she assumed he had important business to attend to.
As the two groups met in the middle, Stacey stepped between them and said. “Your Highness may I present the President and her staff… Madame President his Majesty and Captain Savot.”
Stacey was about to introduce her other fellow officers when she heard a loud pitched buzzing coming from the centre of the room, she turned in time to see a bright flash and then an explosion blow tables towards her and the main group of people.
Stacey felt her self get pulled down from behind as the heat seemed to cook her alive, the room was too filled with smoke for her to see anything when she finally managed to lift her head from the ground. She looked over next to her to see a young ensign whose name escaped her, Stacey moved to place her hands on the ensigns neck, she didn’t feel a pulse and when she removed her hand she saw it was covered in blood. She tapped her comm. Badge and yelled over the screams for help of injured people.
“Jackson to El Salvador… Medical Emergency… I need an emergency beam out.. right now.”
Seconds later the response came.
“Commander there is to much radiation in the building to get a lock on you and the away team… you need to get outside.”
Stacey growled before looking around as the smoke began to clear. “Captain?.... S’reena?... Wolf?..... We need to get out of here… can you hear me?”
<Tag Away Team… feel free to add anything you like… perhaps the two sides security start attacking each other because each side accuses the other?... Please don’t simm that the King or President are alive they are dead you may simm that if you wish>

Savot bowed his head politely as the King identified himself. His gaze then naturally went to the Prince when the King gestured toward him, and the vulcan couldn't help but notice the peculiar expression the Prince held while looking at Commander Hope. The captain's eyes narrowed imperceptibly in curiosity but the Prince's reaction alone was insufficient to assume anything was awry.
The vulcan and his Science officer followed the procession in through the East's designated entrance, and soon they'd entered the main chamber and spotted the other half of the El Sal's group again. As the two groups met in the middle, Stacey stepped between them and said. “Your Highness may I present the President and her staff… Madame President his Majesty and Captain Savot.”
Even as his name was spoken the vulcan's gaze became unfocussed, probably seeming rude to anyone paying close enough attention, as he concentrated instead on his sense of hearing that had seemed to pick up on a growing pitch somewhere in the room. However, not 2 seconds after Savot initially heard the sound, a powerful explosion followed it and the vulcan had barely enough time to take cover before being decapitated by debris from what would have been the negotiating table.
The captain's concern was for everyone present, but as a physical being with defined limitations he was only capable of pulling one person to cover during his dive, and the closest one happened to be Commander Hope. Diving so as to keep himself between his officer and the debris, the duo hit the floor and Savot caught himself on his hands and elbows so his own bodyweight wouldn't bludgeon Hope.
Listening first to ensure no firing was taking place before rising to his knees, Savot looked first to Hope then to her familiar to ensure it, too, had survived the incident. When he looked around the room Savot saw Jackson still alive through the cloud of still-airborne dust but saw the Ensign lying near her that hadn't escaped so unscathed. He also saw her tap her commbadge but her request and the ship's reply were lost to him amid the panicked shrieks of the crowd, but if she had called for beam-out something was apparently preventing it.
Savot wanted to contain the whole area and prevent anyone from leaving, but it was not only outside his jurisdiction to do so since this was the Merans' world, but his first priority was also to his own people first. Enough people had fled their immediate vicinity that Savot could now make out Stacey's calls, "Captain?.... S’reena?... Wolf?..... We need to get out of here… can you hear me?”
Savot called out to everyone, and they all rallied around the wounded, possibly murdered, ensign. Jackson quickly explained that they had to get outside to beam out and Savot nodded, "Jackson, you'll assist Commander Hope's egress through the debris and crowds. Colonel Wolf, recall the surviving security officers. You'll all need your arms free to cover us on the move so I'll carry the Ensign. Wolf is on point, Hope and Jackson just behind. The rest of our team will rendevous behind me en route and guard the rear; move!" Though raising his voice at the end, rather than carry any emotional tone it simply served to convey his instructions to focus and proceed as expeditiously as possible.
Before hefting the ensign's body Savot tapped his own commbadge, knowing that after he'd finished talking with the El Salvador they could close the channel on their end so he wouldn't need his hands, =^=Savot to Bridge. Away-team is preparing to exit from the building's East. Commander Jackson will signal you once we're clear at which point you will transport everyone but myself and Colonel Wolf directly to Sickbay. Savot out.=^=
The vulcan then called forward toward Jackson and Hope, tone neutral-per-usual but firm and louder than normal to carry over the remaining audio din of yells and footfalls, "Commander Jackson, Wolf and I will remain on the surface to cooperate with the local authorities in investigating what's happened. Once you're back aboard assume Red Alert posture and maintain raised shields until otherwise instructed. Commander Hope, have your department review the sensor logs over the past half-hour, we may be able to determine if a signal of any kind was transmitted towards the negotiation chambers that may have activated the explosive device if it was in fact an explosive that caused this."
A bomb was his personal choice for the culprit at present, but he had to admit there were several possible alternatives until more evidence had been collected to refine his conclusions. The vulcan brought up the rear until the surviving security had caught up with them, and the group continued making their way towards the building's exterior...
(As Jackson said any other input is still viable from the other Away Team members, I just started us on our way so there's still time before we get all the way out to have things happen if people have something in mind.)

He followed just behind Commander Jackson as she made introductions in the meeting hall. He thought it was very odd that the Deputy President was no longer with them. It gave me concern because of the nature of the talks it would only seem natural for him to be involved as well. He heard the high pitch noise that was building and getting louder. Instinct kicked in and he pulled Commander Jackson down to the ground and threw himself on top of her as the blast hit. He was trying not to crush her but want to make sure she was shield from the blast.
When it was over he felt Commander Jackson push him off and headed to the fallen ensign. She was trying to get intouch with the ship for beam out. He figure it wouldn't happen the explosion might have left radiation which would block the transport. " Commander Jackson we have to go now you can't stay here. I'm sorry about the ensign but there's nothing that can be done we got to get to the captain and leave."
He looked around he could tell the security details for the world leaders were already blaming each other. It was a question of time before it got nasty he heard the captains call. He grabbed Commander Jackson and started pushing her in the direction of the captains voice.
He could still tell she was worried about who else might be hurt. " Commander if we dont go now alot more people are going to get hurt. Right now you have to get out of here and prevent a war before both sides start blaming each other"
As they caught with the captain he heard the orders. He was on point and moving as quickly and safely as possible. He didn't want to run in to anything tapping his combadge " Alpha team excute wolf 2 provide rear security. El-Salvador one and two are on move, danger close. " Which informed his team there was a chance for a nother attack.
When they reached there destination he heard the captains orders for everybody else. He was not happy the captain was staying back to assist. He held his objection when the captain said he would be staying back as he watched the rest of the group beam out he turned to face savot
"Sir there's alot more going on here then meets the eye, that place was scanned by each security team and the device was not picked up. Its a little to advanced to be local if it could hide from federation scans. There is a chance somebody else who is not native to this world could be involved. I respectfully request pardon the expression sir but I be attached to your hip figuretively speaking of course." <Tag Savot>

S'reena too heard a soft whine, then the next thing she knew she was knocked over and felt a weight cover her, but not so much that it'd crush her. She heard Auric screech in protest, but since she didn't sense the little one attack, she knew exactly who had brought her down to cover. "Thank you captain," she murmured as she heard him move a little then felt a hand on her own.
Gratefully, she accepted the assistance to get up into a crouching position, knowing that getting back up was dangerous. She heard Auric chirp and chatter. "Yes I'm fine," she answered the little one's enquiry, glad that the creature had winked out of the area just in time.
Given the shouts around them and the feel of debris in her hair and on her face, S'reena presumed that there were many wounded. Her sharp hearing picked up a few stray conversations, as she was now fully pulled up to her feet.
Using Savot as a guide to get to the rest of the awayteam, she waited patiently for orders. There wasn't much she could do here, the terrain was just too dangerous for her to move around. Gracefully, she accepted the orders for her to keep with Jackson, who was to be her guide. Auric would also be of no use, the creature was too small to be able to guide her through rough terrain, or even near-impassable terrain. The risk of injury would be too great.
"Captain, I request permission to remain," she finally spoke up, "I can do more here, scientifically, than aboard the El-Salvador. As long as I have someone to guide me, I could take detailed scans, and perhaps find out who the explosive belonged to. I would need to be at the blast site, but if someone from security were with me, it would be safe enough. Perhaps even someone from the local population, to show that there still are open options for negotiations. We don't know who was behind this, and until then both sides need to be kept safe, and perhaps together. At least be kept here, until further notice."
She didn't want to be transported to sickbay, she wanted to do her job, which was what she had come down for in the first place. Grimfaced, she 'looked' around, while wiping the dust from her face, daring anyone to contradict her or enforce orders upon her.

As the group began to convene together outside the building, Savot saw his Science officer turn to address his general direction, "Captain, I request permission to remain," she finally spoke up, "I can do more here, scientifically, than aboard the El-Salvador.
Savot nodded, conceding her individual points but in the end was undeterred, "I agree, though we have little jurisdiction here to dictate how each group responds to this incident. However, until we determine more specifics as to what has happened here I want as few crewmembers on the surface as possible. Once the situation here has been somewhat contained we can arrange for science personnel to examine the explosion site if we're granted permission to do, at which point you may personally lead them should you so desire."
He had begun gently lowering the bloodied ensign to the ground as he spoke, and was just setting the head down gently before rising to continue, "We're also uncertain as to the characteristics of the attack here. Though I deem it unlikely it's possible the explosion released some form of biological weapon and the medical facilities of the El Salvador are more likely to successfully confirm that or rule it out than the local hospitals. However, until the completion of our mission this is still a diplomatic situation and as such a suitable ship's representative must remain in contact with the leaders, and to present anyone other than the ship's captain would convey disrespect to the local governments."
As though an additional thought had occurred to him as he'd spoken, Savot turned to again address the group as a whole, "I intend to offer the services of our Sickbay to any injured Merans; as such any of you who don't feel specifically injured needn't be examined in Sickbay itself, but a medical specialist must examine you immediately upon beamup and certify each of you fit to return to duty. Commander Jackson, I'll send you a report as soon as possible when a clearer picture of what happened is available. In the interim, simply be prepared to receive casualties, send down what personnel and equipment Colonel Wolf requests for what I hope will be a joint investigation with the Meran authorities, and maintain an alert posture in case there is a Romulan presence in the system. That is all."
***************************************
When Savot and Wolf remained, the vulcan listened to a much milder statement than he'd expected from the Marine, "Sir there's a lot more going on here than meets the eye, that place was scanned by each security team and the device was not picked up. It's a little too advanced to be local if it could hide from Federation scans. There is a chance somebody else who is not native to this world could be involved. I respectfully request pardon the expression sir but I be attached to your hip figuratively speaking of course."
Despite the severity of the situation Savot arched an eyebrow in possible amusement at Wolf's final words, "Barring either a medical miracle or hideous accident, it would seem that figuratively will have to suffice Colonel." Sleeves soaked with the blood of one of his crew, Savot re-entered the building alongside Wolf.
The situation inside was still frantic and chaotic, but on a smaller scale since anyone not directly involved with the expected proceedings had fled to avoid becomming additional casualties. The vulcan captain moved back towards the explosion site and addressed what he believed to be members from each of the 2 governments. Hands clasped behind him solemnly, Savot dipped his head as he spoke, "I am incapable of expressing sufficient condolences for your losses this day; but know I grieve with thee."
He allowed a moment's pause to be respectful before getting to the heart of things, "I ask that you forgive my directness but we must determine exactly what has happened here and who is responsible. Though I offer my assurances that my crew and I have no desire to harm your population in any way, understandably my word is insufficient to remove us as suspects since we were in fact present at the time of the explosion. Likewise, as Captain I am responsible for the actions of those under my command and as such I am willing to place myself in your custody for the duration of the investigation."
He raised his bloodied, though not his own blood, right hand to forestall any response until he had finished, "However, I will only do so to a joint investigation team comprised of an equal number of personnel from both governments, with my own crew sharing in the investigation as well led by Colonel Wolf here. Someone is responsible for this, and this act itself should show you how crucial peace is for your two people's. The party responsible felt sufficiently threatened by the prospect of your peace to perform this despicable act. Rather than waste the efforts you've already made you should use this pursuit of justice as a rallying point for mutual cooperation."

Lieutenant James Fire had spent the last several hours flying the class nine shuttle at its highest possible warp in order to return to the El'Salvador. Only when he pulled it back out of warp did he see the ship. He smiled as he executed his command to open the bay doors after making sure the navigation department knew of his arrival. Carefully he edged it inside the shuttle bay and lowered it watching as the bay doors came to a close and the chamber repressurized.
It felt good to finally be back on the ship and away from Earth and his family members. The loss of anybody's family member is enough to be nerve racking. But, nevertheless he was back on board to take his spot as the Chief Navigation officer, and he wouldn't talk much to others why he had been away for so long.
He walked up towards the first officer noticing that it just happened to be Lieutenant Kelley, "I'm back from my extended leave." His reasons for being gone were still unknown, but Starfleet had returned him to his old ship with a fresh set of orders.
"Ahh, Lieutenant Fire. Welcome back the Captain and some of the other senior officers are currently on the surface. Take them to the bridge I am certain you are most needed there at the moment."
The lieutenant nodded, "Thanks." He said stopping by his quarters to drop off his bags before going towards the turbolift and entering. He would speak quickly, "Bridge." Instantly the turbolift would take off until finally stopping and the doors swung open. James stepped out and walked quickly to the helm and took over for the ensign that had been filling the seat. "Your relieved Ensign." He would say and watch as he walked away towards the turbolift and would vanish.
((If I am the only senior officer on the bridge I will take the Captain's chair but I'm just getting into the groove of things.))

He was a little uneasy witht the captain still on the surface but at least he was with him. As they went back into the building to start assesing the damage. He listened to the captain and was caught off guard when he offered to be taken into custody. He didn't say anything openly about this he would not embarce his captain. The only reason he kept quite was because the captain had a homing becan under his skin which meant he could be tracked.
While the captain was talking he quitely tapped his combadge. " El-Salvador please beam down a fresh uniform for the captain and one for me. Have my gunney bring them to you he will know which one's to bring. Aslo make sure the captain's contain nothing but standard issue gear. I also want tricoders and a portal computer tied to Commander Hope's Science station. All information gathered must be fed straight to her computer for her to get a head start on identify the explosive used."<Tag Fire>
" Andrus go through the scans leading up to the exploison see who was in this room. I dont care how brief it might have been, also I want complete scans of this whole world see if there are any life forms that dont belong to this world." <Tag Andrus>
As the captain finished he wasn't happy about the whole thing but thought something should be added " Sorry for the inturpting captain, I would also add that having a Vulcan's point of view on the investigation would help all concerned. His emotions will not cloud facts and his observations will be as we say to the point and the trueth. I ask that while in your custody that he be allowed to help with the investigation. I will make no attempts to beam him off word or hide him from you. You may assign your security details to follow him I simple ask that he be allowed to remain unconfined during the investigation. You have my word of honor I will do my best to solve what happened hear"
Turning to face his captain " Sorry sir but your logic on this matter is as importan a tool as any scan. While I may be able to figure out the who, what and the why your thinking will prevent us from jumping to conclusion. It will also ensure that the findings are not clouded with any emotion from any side."
A few secounds later a package was brought to them while waiting for the response from everybody. It had the gear he asked for as well as a standard issue uniform for the captain to change into along with some water and rag's to clean themselves with. " Captain I took the liberty of asking the El-Salvador to send down some gear along with a fresh uniform for you as well sir" <Tag Savot>

Lieutenant James Fire had assumed the command chair shortly after checking the current situation with the ship and the rest of the senior staff. Being one of the junior senior staff officers he hardly got to sit in the chair. He had been replaced by Lieutenant Kelley at the helm and he had gotten rather comfortable at the moment until the comms activated and he heard Colonel Wolf's voice over it.
All information gathered must be fed straight to her computer for her to get a head start on identify the explosive used."
He would reach down and activate his own comm, "This is Lieutenant James Fire glad to hear from you sir hope everybody down on the surface is okay." <Tag Runningwolf>
He looked behind him towards the science officer, "You heard him tie their tricorders into a science station."
Then he would look towards the tactical officer, "Please contact his Gunney and have him follow through with the Colonel's request for new uniforms. And, the captain's uniform is to contain no more then standard issue gear." He watched as the officer began working on that part of the request.
"Sir, I have a station linked up with their tricorders so that Commander Hope can analyze the data."
"Thank you." He then looked at his helm officer, "Scan a two hundred kilometer radius around the blast zone, and transfer all data to the same station."
"Aye sir."
He reconnected the commlink to Wolf, "Colonel some fresh uniforms are on their way. A science station has been linked, we are also scanning a two hundred kilometer radius of the blast zone from the ship. Lieutenant Fire out." <tag Runningwolf>

Hiding her disappointment, and refraining from voicing her disagreement with the denial of permission, S'reena nodded once, then allowed herself to be transported back to the ship. She felt her hand being taken, and though the person in question didn't say a word, she knew exactly where she was going. The last place she wanted to be, but needed to be. She realised Savot had left the order open for her, to interpret as she wanted to, but she thought it wiser not to test his patience too much.
Vulcans, of course, were the most patient species she knew, but even S'reena knew theirs wasn't endless either. She walked into sickbay, allowing herself to be checked over for a wide variety of things. Radiation was dangerous, but who knew what had been in the air before. The previously visited site, where they'd erroneously been transported to, had been dangerous.
After being cleared for duty, and a few scrapes on her hands being treated, she was on her way back to the bridge within minutes. "I need all the help I can get," she announced, for once not too proud to do something herself, "I have scans of the surface and I was scanning when the explosion occurred. I need someone to tell me what they see, as they're visual scans. The computer can't accurately interpret for me, I need assistance."
Too bad Ian wasn't on duty, but she hoped anyone else would be able to assist. "I'm in somewhat of a hurry," she added, "the captain is still down there, with Colonel Wolf. Both may be in danger. Also, we need to locate the members of the Royal Family, ensure they're still alive." Then she fell silent, abruptly, realising that she was taking on Jackson's job. She sat at her station, frozen in place, waiting for the first officer to speak up.

Stacey nodded as the Captain gave her the order to return to the ship, she couldn’t believe this had happened and couldn’t believe she was still alive. She had not seen the leaders and feared the worst for them… if they were dead the chances for peace would be severely crippled.
Stacey left before Commander Hope did as she was trying to convince Savot to let her stay on the surface. She made it outside and was immediately beamed back to the El Salvador.
She skipped going to sickbay, even though she had a slight pain in her leg, she needed to be on the bridge. The young crew operating the bridge needed reassurance that everything would be okay.
She walked onto the bridge and immediately locked eyes on the person in the command chair. “You are relieved Lieutenant.”
She walked to the middle of the bridge and sat down as she said. “Mr. Fire bring us into a closer orbit…. Ensign Andrus keep the shields up and weapons hot.”
She turned to see Commander Hope enter the bridge Stacey shrugged as she guessed that Hope had been denied the request to stay.
As S’reena sat down she announced she needed help, Stacey pointed at one of the young ensigns at the back of the bridge and motioned him to S’reena. She continue on to announce what they should be doing first.
Stacey looked over at her with slight frustration and said in a curt tone. “Thank you Commander… just concentrate on the scans…. Mr Andrus I want you to run an intensive scan of the captains position I want to know how many people are there with him and I want to know the very second if they start shooting at each other”
She hoped it wouldn’t happen but it was almost a certainty that the governments would both accuse each other of the bombing.
<tag S’reena>
She tapped her comm. Badge and said. “Jackson to Captain Savot… do you have any information on the leaders?”

As the captain found a place to change he explored the damage it was still being hauled away in a effore to look for suvivers. Walking around he found where some of the bodies had been moved to in the coner scanning to see if he had know anybody, he saw one covered with a flag thinking it was a little odd he bent down and pulled the flag back a little. He was hoping it wasn't the king but after pulling the flag back he realized the king was dead. Quitely he got up and checked the rest of the bodies his fear was confirmed when he found the body of the president.
Not body seemed to notice what he was doing he walked back to a coner tapping his combadge " Commander Jackson I need to talk you, can you please secure the channel"
He could tell Commander Jackson was a little stressed and he wasn't about easy her stress in fact he was going to add to it. She came back on line informing the channel was secure and sounding a little worried that he asked for a secure channel.
" Commander Jackson I will inform the captain of my finding when I can secure some of his time privately. Also you should know the Captain has offered himself as a prisoner until this matter gets cleared up. So far he's only being taken into supervised custody I'll leave that matter to you. I have found 2 bodies that I have identified on as the president, the other I can't be certain I'm sending the images now to Commander Hope but the other was covered with a flag. I can't be certain but I'm reasonable sure its the King. Commander Hope will have to confirm my findings"
"Commander I do not need to say how this is going to complicate things even more so with the Captain offering himself to be taken into custody. When this hits the air waves things are going to get a lot worse. I however do need something in point two things, I would like Commander Hope to join me on the surface. Her skills and knowledge would make finding the device and figuring out its design and make go faster. The last Commander its just a feeling but I find it very odd that the Deputy President left before this happened. I"m not implying anything yet but it would be nice to know where he went and why. If you could figure out away to get those answers it could go along way of either confirming my gut or eliminating a possible suspect." <Tag Jackson>
He waited for a response he was hoping that she would at least give him Commander Hope. She would be a real asset right now and give him someone else to trust and watch his back until they figured out what was going on.
" Also Commander if you could see if the goverments would allow a shuttle to land. We could use it as a base and it would allow us to access information a lot quicker a science shuttle would not raise to many worries I believe if we grant both sides access to the findings as we go through them."

Savot blinked slightly surprised at Wolf's monologue on the virtues of logic as applied to criminal investigations, then bowed his head toward the Marine slightly in appreciation, "While I agree with your points Colonel and appreciate your faith in my objectivity, being non-vulcan does not by definition preclude one's ability to use logic."
He turned slightly then to address the Meran personnel and dipped his head forward again, deferring to whatever decision they chose to make, "I am certainly willing to participate in the investigation under your supervision should you so desire, but if not I have full confidence in my crew's capability to help you determine the truth of what occurred here."
At that moment Wolf's requested uniforms package arrived, "Captain I took the liberty of asking the El-Salvador to send down some gear along with a fresh uniform for you as well sir." Savot nodded, already beginning to shrug out of his dress uniform overshirt. The rest of the uniform would have to get changed later, this entire mission was bound to be dirty both literally and figuratively.
As Wolf stepped aside and seemed to be speaking through his commbadge, Savot rolled his dress jacket up and knelt to place it under a survivor's head to serve as a makeshift pillow until everyone could be moved to a medical facility. In truth, there weren't very many injuries... at least not very many that hadn't proved instantly fatal.
Shortly after Wolf stopped talking, apparently having finished his conversation, Savot's own badge chirped and Jackson's voice came to him, =^=Jackson to Captain Savot… do you have any information on the leaders?=^=
Reaffixing his badge to the standard uniform overshirt he now wore, the vulcan tapped it before speaking, =^=Unfortunately Commander both the King and President were killed in the blast. I am not sufficiently familiar with the President's council to identify who among the staff were also killed, but I can confirm the East's Prince is not among the deceased. Also, though I cannot be certain it has bearing on this situation, said Prince seemed rather taken aback upon my introduction of Commander Hope outside the East entrance.=^=
Unaware of how much, if anything, Wolf had told the ship about his agreement to enter Meran custody, Savot continued, =^=As we were present at the moment of the explosion, we are potential suspects in the matter and while we're certainly aware we weren't involved with the bombing the Meran authorities cannot afford to take our word for it. As such I have volunteered to remain under their supervision should they so choose until evidence gathered concretely clears us of any culpability.=^=
=^=Assuming the explosive was not simply set at random, the targets were clearly each government's topmost leader. If this hypothesis holds true, someone had to be monitoring the room to ensure both were in close enough proximity to the bomb to be killed by the blast, which leads me to believe the bomb was triggered remotely by some form of signal. Clearly this is not the only possible explanation, but the one I believe most likely at present.=^=
=^=I don't believe I'll be at risk should they choose to take me into custody, since desiring the continuation of a planet-bound war is quite different from a willingness to instigate a conflict with the Federation by intentionally harming a command-grade officer. If I cannot remain in contact with you, Colonel Wolf will be the direct liason on the surface for our investigation team. I've recommended both governments form an equally-staffed investigatory unit though of course I cannot say whether they will choose to do so. What is the status of Ensign Sontes and the rest of the Away team?=^=, Savot listened for a medical report on his people, but held little hope that Sontes had survived...

James Fire had come off the El'Salvador for a lot of time off due to the recent loss of a very close friend of his Mark Riley. The two had grown up together even crashing a few shuttles, which in a lot of ways got them in a lot of trouble with their parents. They graduated the Academy together and he had been assigned as an engineering officer at Planetia Utopia that was where the accident took place. His friend had been declared a hero as he had saved everybody and that was his ultimate sacrifice.
James had gone to his funeral and been one of the casket bearers as requested by Mark's mother. It was the hardest thing he'd ever had to do, but he did it with great pride as he saluted the casket on its way into the ground. Mark had always said, "James when I die I want to be buried like my ancestors of ancient Earth." And, that was precisely what his family and friends did for him. He wasn't the only Starfleet member there, others had arrived as well. He was wearing his dress uniform recently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and wearing his pip proudly. Mark was a Lieutenant Junior Grade when he was killed...
The Lieutenant remained deep in thought for a moment occupying the center seat on board the ship that he'd been reassigned to once he had come off his extended leave. In his lap was his orders, and another PADD that he'd been contently reading it was a letter of appriecation from Susan Riley his friend's mother.
James looked up and began watching as the junior officers worked on the tasks that he'd assigned to each of them his eyes would fall on each one of them then back at the planet on the viewscreen when the doors behind him swooshed open and he turned to see Commander Jackson and as he had already read she had been made the first officer for their ship. He started to stand up so that she could take the seat from him.
“You are relieved Lieutenant.”
James nodded, "Yes ma'am." He would reply and walk to the helm taking back his seat behind the controls and look over the scans that had already started when Commander Hope would walk onto the bridge. "Commander Hope we have begun sensor sweeps over the surface at a two hundred kilometer radius from the blast site. The data is being sent to your console with the data from the tricorders on the surface." <tag Hope if any reply>
“Mr. Fire bring us into a closer orbit…. Ensign Andrus keep the shields up and weapons hot.”
James nodded, "Yes ma'am." He would acknowledge the order and input the command into his console then slowly bring the impulse speed up lowering the ship to a less then standard orbit around the planet. "We are now three hundred kilometers closer to the planet's surface. And, continuing the sensor sweeps of the blast site."
