“Capt Gheskori, I found Commander Matthew in the brig section of the security department; base-side. The Victory's COO was standing against a wall, at a juncture in the corridor. "Commander; interrogation in progress?"
James Matthew shook his head, remaining silent. For a second then ‘
”Hi Captain welcome to The Base Brig well we got the message to stop the interrogation of Kray until you Arrive let me tell you there was one very mad Chief of Base Security when she was ordered to stop her interrogation I you wonted to know if we had any proof of Mr. Kray Gilt “
”Cmdr Matthew handed Captain Gheskori a PADDs with a video of Mr., Kray Entering the Security area where the Explosions Accrued as the video looping endlessly in slow motion on the padd Screen"
“ As you can see Captain its Mr., Kray and one of his fellow Conspirator, a Greg Browne Cmdr Vanetti Arrested him earlier today he confess to everything But Kray still has not he say he innocence to all charges and the federation is trying to rail Road him “
“Mr. Browne Confess to Everything Which is only to Helping Kray break in to the Security Section And stilling the federation Documents only Kray know who the buyer is and where they where to meet so to Save a lot of time Your Mind melt Sound like a Great idea for now Kray Could keep this Circus Going on For Days Or Even Weeks

Gheskori turned upon hearing Saryn's address of him. He had thought the exchange with the vulcan physician to be over, but the latter apparently wished to say more. "Captain, I have tactical experience, may I assist Miss Cet?"
"Be my guest," Ghes said, nodding, "Kasan'thar technology... while two hundred years ahead of your time, is almost as unknown to us now as it was back then, so I can't see there being too much problem should Tiana want you to look at some mine blasts - or even a live mine. You have my permission to proceed."
<Tag Saryn, Tiana>
This is when Savin replied to his words, the younger vulcan again not quite hearing that - or indeed being aware of the fact that - Ghes had spoken to him. Gheskori made a mental note to himself on this matter, for the next time he conversed with the young man.
"...However I should like to ah...practice."
Gheskori's attention was piqued. Before he had - inexcusably - been letting Savin's words breeze over him, knowing or at least thinking that they were mainly inconsequential (the man had said he already had all the information). Slowly, Ghes rose an eyebrow. "Practice, eh?"
"If there are volunteers." Savin said quickly, "Father would be ideal but as your suspect is non-Vulcan, a non-Vulcan would be ideal. Sir."
"Well, quite," Ghes said, hiding his amusement behind a veil of surprise, and striking Savin with an almost scolding glare, like a parent would an adolescent. He sighed, "Very well, Savin, I shall have the word put out among the crew that you wish to conduct a mind-meld. Your volunteer should be ready within an hour, I would say; no more."
<Tag Savin>
Back to the present, in the brig-department 'Base-side.....
Gheskori nodded, taking in the revealing and fascinating information Commander Matthew was divulging to him. This Browne... he threw a new spin on things; someone to divert attention away from Kray. But still, in terms of cold, hard evidence, all this was still not conclusive proof of Kray's involvement in the Kasar mine detonations.
"... so to save a lot of time your mind meld sounds like a great idea for now; Kray could keep this circus going on for days, or even weeks"
"Yes," Ghes nodded, peering through the small rectangular window into Kray's cell. The man was stretched out on his bunk, asleep. "The mind-meld it is." He paused, seeing Matthew's look in the periphery of his vision.
He turned from the brig window, smiling, "Yes, Commander, it took a lot of convincing of the JAG to allow us to do this. We could not even use our unsurety on Kray's Federation citizenship. That's how much of a risk this is."
He touched the frame of the cell-door, running his hand down the length of it; cold metal. "I suppose we took another risk... JAG don't know that the person conducting the mind-meld is from two centuries ago, back when the practice of mind-melding was strictly prohibited on Vulcan! Who know's what could happen when Saryn, or Savin, lays fingers on that man...?"
Shaking himself, the Denobulan hardened his expression. "Commander, thank you for your efforts here. Now, I'd like you and Vanetti to prepare for the taking of Kray to the suite on the 'Base, where the mind-meld will be held. We need utmost security, for if knowledge of Kray's involvement and interrogation has got out, there's going to be a lot of people out there for blood. When they see Kray..." He could see he didn't need to finish the sentence. There might be a riot.
<Tag Cmdr. Matthew, Adm. Lin>
"Hold off on taking him just yet," Ghes added, "There's one more person I need to contact to get authorisation for this meld, everything hinges on it..."
<Tag Admiral Lin>
Christina Taylor was to be the vulcan Savin's 'practice attempt' for a mind meld. She had volunteered, and she was not sure what had made her do so. Maybe it was because no one else on the bridge had said anything, or maybe it was the endearing look of inquisition on Lieutenant Krzamel's face, when he'd stepped on to the bridge and simply blurted the question to the whole lot of them.
Either way, this was something she was entering into with a lot of trepidation...
"Savin.." she said quietly, looking through sickbay for the vulcan. She rounded a corner, stepping around Saryn's newly appointed office - not that he knew he had it yet - and saw what must've been the CMO's son, Savin, standing next to a rack of test-tube like objects.
"Hello," she said, then remembered what Krzamel had said, and tapped the young man on the shoulder. He turned, and she greeted him with a smile. "Savin? I'm your volunteer."

"Commander, I don't know if you're out there by the hull; I have some information to pass to your teams if you're not. We've uncovered four more Kasar mines attached to the Victory. We're relaying information on their locations to you now... Transmit the info straight to your teams' visual interfaces. You have another ten minutes, then I want them recalled... It's a bit too dangerous." Tiana wholeheartedly agreed with Ghes's assessment of the situation and promptly recalled the ev teams, she told them to look at ways of removing the devices with detonating them as she set off to met with Savin.
"Impossible!" he exclaimed. As Tiana approached he whirled round to face her.
"What's impossible?" Tiana asked, the science officer was ever curious.
Tag: Savin (Saryn) if you want to.
Ghes came in and further things were discussed. When getting information was mention Tiana drifted suddenly lost in another memory not her own. Several of Cet's hosts had been good at interrogation, it made Tiana shiver. She did not know how long she had been 'gone' this time but it seemed neither Ghes nor Savin had noticed her silence, either that or they had noticed and chosen not to comment on it.
"Tiana," he said, "I'd like you to return to the Starbase, see what you can find out about those mines. Perhaps some scientific analysis will reveal something; residual biosigns from human tampering, or the like? We need to find out how those mines were detonated. If it was as you suspect, by remote, then they still needed access to the weapons themselves." "I shall." Tiana returned to base feeling a little shaken. It had obviously been minutes she had been gone for.
A while later. Tiana was poring over data streams aided by two of the starbase's engineers. Having the mines this close made examining them easier. However they were very well rigged and a strong sensor sweep could trigger them. They had come up with a few thoughts on removing them. But so far nothing had been finalised.
"Commander?"
She looked up. Tiana was surprised to see the Admiral.
"Can you spare me a moment to update me on progress?"
"Of course, sir." She went on detail what they had observed so far. "At the moment it seems our best option is to transport them away but get a stable lock will prove tricky and may well activate the timers and I don't know if we can do it with taking part of the bulk head with it. The compositions are quite similar."
She sighed. "We are making good progress, sir. We've set up a sensor to make very low energy sweeps of one of the mines. The resolution is terrible but multiple sweeps will build up the data." She paused this wasn't going to get any easier. "I have another matter to discuss with you, sir, it's a sort of personal matter but..." Her voice trailed off. She just had to spit it out, he was a joined Trill he'd understand.
"I was joined under difficult circumstances on our last mission and I thought Cet had settled but I've been getting flashbacks. So far they haven't caused any major problems but I don't think I should be put in any delicate situations until ..." again her words trailled off. Tiana wasn't sure how she was going to end the sentence, ... Cet is removed, maybe. ... we learn to work together. Still she had said it now. He was the first she had mentioned this too.

Moving to a a quieter location Gheskori tapped his comm-badge
=^= Gheskori to Magellan=^=
=^= Magellan here. Go ahead=^=
=^= We have Kray and hes still not budging. I need to know if you are going to sign off on the mind meld.=^=
There was a long pause,
=^= I've spoken to JAG and our legal team and things are a little dicey. I do however have a work around. Saryn and Savin are not yet registered as Federation citizens, it didn't exists from when they came from and they have yet to be sworn in here. Secondly our problem is location, we need it to be conducted out of Federation jurisdiction. I suggest you charter a private shuttle and travel down to Qualinost (planet below). Go to the Debrune city and hire a room and conduct the meld there. This way we are all covered. Think you can manage that?=^=
Tag Gheskori.
Returning to the Science lab
Magellan paused and perched himself on a desk top.
"Symbiosis is a very tricky thing" he said presently. He paused to see if any other scientists were nearby, "I had some issues myself when joined, Lin was an emotionally scared symbiont, part of the reason was that he was very nearly stolen by blackmarketeers in his previous host. I had a whole raft of integration issues technophobia all sorts... It takes time. removal is so... so drastic. If you've been joined too long then the separation could kill you, you do realise that?"
Tag Tiana
"There are options. When I was shot a few years ago I dissociated - kind of like schizophrenia all the pasts hosts started to manifest themselves, it was incredibly tough but I was helped over it. I went to the Caves of Mak'ala and saw the Guardians, they were brilliant. I was taken into the pools and Lin was able to communicate with older symbionts and the mother symbiont. Since then the bond has not been stronger. Before you jump into drastic measures I suggest you take time to think about the consequences. We need more joined trills and it is an incredible gift. I think you need some reflective time on the homeworld"

[Earlier, with Gheskori] "Well, quite," Ghes said, hiding his amusement behind a veil of surprise, and striking Savin with an almost scolding glare, like a parent would an adolescent. He sighed, "Very well, Savin, I shall have the word put out among the crew that you wish to conduct a mind-meld. Your volunteer should be ready within an hour, I would say; no more."
"Thank you sir," the young Vulcan replied, almost sounding grateful. Almost, but not quite as obviously he tried not to show any of his feelings, regardless of his obvious necessity to do so to express himself. His speech was automatically supported by fluid hand signals, which one could either know to be language, or presume to be some spastic habit.
He rose to his feet, then politely returned the seat to the table and stepped back. "I shall be in sickbay, should anyone be looking for me. There are a few blood samples that I had been investigating, and may turn up to show a few interesting leads."
[Ghes]
[Present, with Cet in sickbay] OLD: He stepped away, picking up the tricorder again, browsing through the gathered date. "Impossible!" he exlaimed, almost furious. He whirled around when he sensed someone approaching him.
New: "What's impossible?" Tiana asked, the science officer was ever curious.
Savin stepped aside to allow her access to the microscope, sliding two slides under the lens. "Compare these to if you would ma'am. These are blood samples found at the site of the explosion, from victims that fell there. However these slides," he pointed at the yellow labeled slide, "shows a chemical compound that I am unfamiliar with, however this one," and now he pointed at a blue labeled one, "does not. Yet they are found less than a meter from one another."
The young man looked up, curiosity and surprise evident in his eyes. "I do not understand, this is technically impossible, unless the one victim was placed there after the explosion, otherwise both would have shown this chemical in their blood, no? I mean, one obviously was exposed to something, while the other was not." He pointed to his case of slides. "I have more such anomalies that I cannot explain. I was hoping you could be of assistance."
[Cet, before she leaves to meet with Lin]

"... I suggest you charter a private shuttle and travel down to Qualinost. Go to Debrune city and hire a room and conduct the meld there. This way we are all covered. Think you can manage that?"
"Certainly, sir," Ghes said, looking at Commander Matthew who was also listening. The Denobulan was impressed at this work-around from the Admiral. Quite inventive, but then, he supposed Magellan Lin was not an Admiral for nothing. "I believe JAG will frown on what we're doing, but as long as there's nothing they can do, I see no problem with this plan."
<Tag Adm. Lin>
As the channel closed, a satisfied Ghes turned back to Commander Matthew. "Carry on with preparing to move Kray. I'll send you the information on the shuttle we'll be using when I secure the craft."
One of Commander Vanetti's interrogation team stood in the background, leaning against the wall and appearing rather sceptical. He pushed off the wall and spoke to Ghes, "Why can't we simply beam him to the shuttle rather than moving him across the station? You mentioned civilian trouble yourself."
"Would that we could, Lieutenant," Ghes said, offering the man no more than a glance, "But the transportation network is still down from the explosions." He started heading from the room, "Commander Matthew, proceed with moving Kray; we'll need maximum security by the way. Enlist any help you require."
<Tag Cmdr. Matthew>
En route to the docking ring to 'commandeer' a shuttle craft, Ghes put in a call to the ship. "Gheskori to Savin. Have you made any progress on the blood tests? What have they come up with?" Ghes braced himself, just realising that it had been over an hour since he's spoken to Savin and that the vulcan would likely have his mind-meld volunteer.
<Tag Saryn/Savin>
Speaking to the vulcan as he walked, Ghes entered a logistics section of the 'Base, and promptly located a desk he might ask at. He leant over it, peering at the uniformed officer present. "Greetings. I need a shuttlecraft."
Fifteen minutes later, Gheskori was sitting in the passenger's seat of a runabout. He was impassively surveying the activity of the pilot, the Starfleet Ensign he'd had hired for the job of taking the runabout down to the surface of Qualinost. He'd arranged with the Debrune the usage of a small, discrete interrrogation room at an inconspicuous location in the Debrune city. Hopefully it would serve the purpose of its use well.
He rotated in the chair and tapped at the communication console, then spoke to the air. "Commander Matthew, how is the transport of Kray progressing?"
As he waited for James's reply, he approached the ensign - the man's hands working in flurries over the console in his pre-flight checks - and looked over his shoulder, "We need to be ready within fifteen minutes," he said quietly, "I don't know how - "
An alert sounded, console graphics flashing up blue and purple next to the ensign's right elbow. "What is it?" Ghes inquired.
The ensign's reply was slow and worryingly etched with disbelief, "From the 'Base sir, the team moving Kray to this location's been attacked by civilians."
Ghes stood straight in alarm. He'd been right to suspect this eventuality... "Commander Matthew, report! We hear you and Kray's group have been attacked. They were after Kray, I assume?"

OFF: This was missed before, apologies! I can't read the dark green on the board...barely see it on the grey background Ghes...perhaps we could turn this into a JP by modifying in turn? OLD: "Savin.." she said quietly, looking through sickbay for the vulcan.
"Savin? I'm your volunteer."NEW: Savin offered a small smile in return, knowing that Humans tended to be reassured by such a small gesture. "I am Savin," he acknowledged, "and I am grateful that you have volunteered." Christina was half put at ease by the reassuring smile of the vulcan, to have it was a comfort, and one that humans perhaps needed to know they were on level terms with their colleagues. And as it had come from a vulcan, it made her feel especially sure that this was perhaps not such a bad idea. But then again, Savin did look very young.
"Well," she said, "I thought I was a good a person as any." She shrugged, with an accidental frown forming on her face. It was a token gesture of a comment, dripping with the hyperbole that dominated the mind in such moments of neurosis. "Where shall we go for this?" she inquired. The young doctor gestured towards his father's office. "My father's office is private," he suggested politely, "I would not wish for you to be exposed to the stares of other sickbay staff." A gentle gaze fell upon the young woman. "Did the captain tell you that I have little experience in performing a mind meld?" The ease with which the young vulcan's gaze fell upon her was truly belying of the substance behind his words. Little experience! If Savin was trying to soothe her mind with his look while speaking words that evoked such dismay then he was failing comprehensively in that objective.
"No..." she stuttered, stumbling indeed in her stride, her gait suffering as she moved for the said office in pursuit of the new CMO's son.The two entered the office and Savin took one seat, while offering the other to his companion. "Where I come from, this ability is still frowned upon by many, though tolerance is slowly starting to gain a majority. I have kept my ability hidden for most of my adult life, as has my father. As a result, neither of us are as adept, as the Vulcans from this time appear to be. Once there is time, I seek to remedy my lack of knowledge." The young Vulcan paused. "I do not seek to pry into your memories, nor do I seek to endanger you. The moment you feel uncomfortable, you must let me know and I shall withdraw. Do you have any questions?" Taylor swallowed, pausing and shuddering in her hunched seating position before she gained the courage to speak. "If you do encounter my memories..." she uttered slowly, "What would you find? To what depth would you descend into them? I have my privacy; I value it, as do vulcans I believe?
"Yet, Savin, if this is allow you experience in order to meld with a criminal, who might be responsible for many deaths and... much disturbance, then I suppose I am fine with all of this." She swallowed again, tilting her head in self-contemplation and nodding to herself.
Within that moment, no part of her had decided outright that she was entirely comfortable with this; but then she had committed to it, and the mind meld was to commence....<tag Savin for new post>

Before the explosion:
Vin had gone down to his office and went over some reports that needed his attention. Vin sat down in his office and picked up one padd and read over it closely. The ship had taken a beating at the hands of the kasar, Vin was tired and decided to pick up both padds and go to his quarters.
Vin entered his quarters and headed to the replicator gettins some water he sat down to read, he read for awhile and fell asleep. He was not aware of being beamed off the ship, the kasar people beamed him directly to their sickbay.
"Ok doctor lets get the information, we don't want to kill him just get the information from the symbiont then he will be locked up until we decide on what to do with him." The leader said.
The doctor was very nervous but replied. "Uh, yessir." He said.
Present time:
Vin had awoke it seemed like days later and found himself in a locked room, he knew he was not on the Victory and had no clue where he was. There was no door and the walls were warm in contrast to the room itself, it was comfortably cool. He heard the tell tale sound of a transporter beam and a tray of food appeared.

Magellan watched the reports in dismay as at first Vanettis and Matthews security team were ambushed and then in relief as he saw them fight them off. Kray was now safely in Gheskori's hands and hopefully on his way to the somewhat dubious interrogation.
He mused a moment about the significance of the attack on the security detail. How did they know Kray was going to be transferred at that specific time and along that route. Someone inside security must be feeding them information and that meant that it had to be someone on his staff. He was not overly happy with that but he was pragmatic. On a starbase this large some of the officer were bound to be corrupt especially when for 3 years the Mayor had been a known criminal.
It did however leave him with a dilemma, he would need an outsider to root out this mole. Matthews and Gheskori where now unavailable but that still left someone open to him, Victorys own CTSO. Magellan paused beginning to realise that he had yet to see Ensign Wolf since the explosion on the Victory and he knew he wasn't among the casualties. Where then was he?
"Lily. Locate Ensign Vin Wolf." he asked Assailants computer
"Ensign Wolf is not on Starbase Assailant. Nor is he on the USS Victory" she replied anticipating his next question.
"Thank you Lily" Magellan replied quietly, curiouser and curiouser. "Commander Galwyn, can you come to Ops we have a new problem, we seem to have mislaid Ensign Wolf. I could do with your scientific skills to find out where he has gone."

Gheskori pondered heavily over everything Commander Matthew was telling him. This investigation, and the numerous events that kept occurring during it were making it more and more complex, impossibly so in fact. Many different possibilities and permutations were arising.
"So..." he mused, thinking aloud but also talking to Commanders Matthew and Vanetti who were standing before him. The shuttlecraft had his shadow cast upon it, he having moved outside of it once he'd been told by Matthew that their escort had been attacked. "The attackers might be delaying the meld, but in waiting for what? And if they had intended on freeing him, then where indeed would they go?
"This is more complicated than we thought. You're right, Commander Matthew, it isn't simply a case of a criminal and a weapons dealer. There is something more, but how it all fits together...? We don't have all the facts by far. So let's start with what we had planned," Ghes decided, "I'll accompany Doctor Saryn as well as a contingent of security to Qualinost below. Unfortunately we can't take any arms, so your men will have to go without, Commander Vanetti."
Gheskori looked towards the shuttle, feeling a slight reluctance to reboard it and take it to the planet below when the Victory was still in potential danger from unexploded mines. "Commander Matthew," he said, "I need you to stay here and look after the Victory. Appoint somebody else to continue commanding her if you wish, so you may continue investigating. If there is indeed a leak in base security, and something linking that to Kray and Browne then I wish to know. I in the mean time will look with detail into the associations Kray's had in the past, some might prove revealing and believe me when I say I have a good eye for such things."
<Tag Cmdr. Matthew>
With a grin towards James Matthew, the Denobulan did reboard the shuttle. Sharing a raised eyebrow with the waiting pilot, he collapsed in his seat, feeling mentally exhausted. He managed to coax up the strength to open a channel to Doctor Saryn. "Saryn, this is Gheskori. Wherever you are, I think I'd like you to join me in a shuttlecraft. I'm transmitting coordinates to your nearest display. Bring your son along, too, he should be finished practicing by now."
<Tag Saryn (Savin)>
The crescented globe of Qualinost reflected what little light it could into the path of Assailant, and just before the terminator vanished at the point perpendicular to line of sight at last, a shuttlecraft was visible, darting planetwards from the kilometres-tall station. White gleaming light beamed from its metallic surfaces, as it caught the last light of the star before Qualinost, and Assailant, were plunged fully into darkness.
The shuttle touched down on the line of dawn of the next morning on the neutral world. Silently as watched from a nearby tall building, the hatch in the side of the craft retracted; five silhouetted figures stepped out one-by-one. After pausing briefly and looking around, the bodies in the morning light moved steadily off to a low structure. Captain Gheskori led the way.

"As you wish captain," the Vulcan doctor replied. He had been in sickbay, making his rounds as well as familiarising himself with his new workspace. Out in his office, he could see Savin sat with his eyes closed, one hand extended to his female volunteer. The younger man certainly had an aptitude for telepathy, Saryn mused, though with mixed feelings.
It was a giant leap to make, going from a society where melding was practically frowned upon and punishable through the destruction of one's career, to one that practically leaned upon it, and encouraged it, especially between married couples. Since Savin was still very young, he was sure to pick up on the skills faster than he would, because he was older, and more used to being a hidden melder. Yes, Saryn knew it would take time, for him to grow accustomed to being open about it.
Once he saw Savin lower his hand and open his eyes, did Saryn approach the door, and knock softly. The door wasn't locked, so he slid it to the side and stepped in. "Captain Gheskori requires our presence in the shutlepod."
"They are called shuttlecraft father," the younger man corrected him. "Starfleet no longer uses pods as we know them." He turned to the young woman, extending a hand to offer her a hand up back to her feet. "I am endebted to you ma'am, if ever I can return the favour, let me know."
[volunteer woman] (forgot her name, sorry)
Watching her leave, Savin turned to his father. "I require a little refreshment, then I shall accompany you." He walked over to the replicator and ordered a bottle of water, which he could drink as he walked.
A few minutes later both old-time Vulcans boarded the shuttlecraft, they watched the Denobulan commanding officer, question in their eyes as they strapped themselves in. "Is it time?" Savin asked carefully, only a small hint of fear in his voice.

Christina nodded, shaking as she stood. Savin stepped back, preparing to leave with his father that Christina only just realised was present. She watched the younger vulcan, at least trying to as shockingly she felt her eyes vibrating hard in their sockets. She was also sweating heavily.
Irrational thoughts flooded her mind. Did this vulcan not realise what he had just done to her? If felt like he had driven a stake of mental torment through her thoughts. Had provoked different areas into a reaction, areas of her mind that were rarely visited by herself let alone another individual.
The thoughts persisted for a while, and although she kept telling herself that she hoped the experience had been useful for Savin, dark emotions continually cast shadows on those thoughts of good will. Eventually the mood lifted, but Saryn and Savin had already gone, and she was left alone in the office of sickbay.
In truth, the two vulcans were merely standing in the main part of sickbay; the ghostly-faced woman they watched depart after no more than half a minute seemed to move as if she'd been dispossessed of something.
The away team were shown to an ante-room in a seven storey structure, which was standing tall in a curiously neutral shade of grey across the other side of the boulevard they'd landed their shuttle by. The ante-room was still a little bit too spacious, Ghes thought, but he supposed it would serve, especially when considering his alarm at the size of the room they'd initially been shown into.
Debrune officials and guards stood behind them, directing Vanetti and her company in how the room was meant to be used for interrogations. Vanetti accepted their advice and Ghes held his tongue, for he had been wanting to tell them to go away, that they would be able to manage. Regardless, the Debrune left, and the room was left to the Federation people, albeit with the obligatory surveillance that Ghes knew must surely be operating.
"Vanetti, show Kray to his seat." The security officers led the known criminal to a chair, and the vulcans were invited to sit opposite. "I don't think we need to ask any more questions, as such, Commander?" Gheskori said to Vanetti, receiving a shake of the head.
Gheskori sighed; it was - as Saryn had asked in the shuttle before they left the starbase - now most certainly time. He looked out the window, observing the dawning sky in its tinge of orange. Everything seemed very... empty, quiet, outside in the world of the Debrune. A silent dawn, paralleled by the silent interrogation about to commence.
He called Saryn aside, giving everyone a few minutes to make final preparations. "Doctor," he said quietly, nodding at the vulcan, "Now, in addition to what you know to look for - that being what happened with Kray around the time of the explosion and his level of involvement - I also want you to search further back, into his past, his previous dealings perhaps with people connected to the Kasar. Also look for a name, possibly a Starfleet name and someone who might be working in Starbase security; such a person might be responsible for lowering security fields to allow Kray access to the high-security Starship docking ports. Most importantly," Ghes said, chopping a hand, "Do you feel that you and/or your son are fully ready for this task? If you have any major doubts, you can raise them." He gave Saryn one of his genuine earnest smiles, the typed that'd gained him his personality amongst the ranks of Starfleet.
<Tag Saryn>
As the vulcans returned to the table, regarded coolly by an implacable Kray, Gheskori turned his attention back to the viewing window. Orange gave way to the familiar daytime tint of Qualinost's atmosphere, and he thought about what Commander Matthew had said:
"...they concentrated their fire on the security detail only, and when it looked like they could not get to him they had their escape route already planned out..."
"...thought they must be really desperate to get him back..."
"...even if they had got him back, the base would have been locked down. No ships would've been allowed to leave the base or sector. The base would have been searched from top to bottom..."
Deep in thought, Gheskori turned, regarding a security officer with an inadvertantly pensive stare. "Sir?" the man said.
"Lieutenant," he replied quietly, "Is the surrounding area fully secure? No aberrant reports from the Debrune?" The security guard shook his head in reply. Meanwhile, the mind-meld commenced.

== Aboard Victory == Young Numike stared at the pale woman from her perch in sickbay. She'd been here all along, and knew that if she held quiet, no-one would notice her. Father would allow her to remain, so long as she wasn't in the way. Almost stealthily, she slid up to the woman, offering a small measure of support. At age ten, she was reasonably tall in comparison to a Human her age. "Are you all right?" [tag volunteer] == Qualinost == The whole shuttle ride, which neither Vulcan appreciated given the turbulent ride, both Saryn and Savin had been unusually quiet. Both had been sat opposite one another, and had just been staring into nothing, until the shuttle had landed. The shuttle was larger than the small pods either of them had been used to, and far more luxurious as well. Yet neither had spoken the entire flight, each sitting stiff and silent in his seat. One could speak to them, but neither would respond. Yet when the shuttle landed and the hatch opened, both Saryn and Savin were among the first to depart the small craft, and stare about in wonder at the Debrune colony. They listened as both Matthew and Gheskori laid out instructions, neither of them wishing to miss vital details. They were led into a building, where both Vulcans were taken aside a little. "Now, in addition to what you know to look for - that being what happened with Kray around the time of the explosion and his level of involvement - I also want you to search further back, into his past, his previous dealings perhaps with people connected to the Kasar. If you have any major doubts, you can raise them."Neither Saryn nor Savin had any idea on what a Kasar was supposed to be, but they nodded in unison anyway. "Yes, we are ready," Saryn answered, receiving a nod in acknowledgement from Savin. Saryn had been using hand signals to relate Gheskori's speech to his son, so that he would understand without having to ask or interrupt. "I will try first," Savin offered, smiling slightly though nervously. "I am younger," he added, almost unnecessarily, "and I am better prepared." He turned to Gheskori. "Show me the prisoner please." [Ghes] Once led here, Savin was allowed into the cell, while two guards held the prisoner firmly into place. Kneeling before him, Savin pressed both hands against the man's temples and dove into his memories, delving deeper and deeper, almost losing himself. There was so much information, how was he supposed to sift through it all, and make a telligeable report from it? Many people, many that might fit the descriptions they were given. But also several that would most certainly not, but still could be who they were looking for. After what had appeared to be minutes, Savin jerked back and almost fell flat on his back, if not for a third guard who caught and steadied him. "Does a Commander McStevens mean anything to you?" he asked, his voice shaking. "Or Lieutenant Owens? Warrant Officer M'Ket?" There were more names, which he had to put to PADD later on. The youth was breathing hard and on the verge of fainting. Carefully he shook his head. "Owens was wearing yellow," he added, "McStevens is blue?" (make of that what you will... I randomly pulled some names unless you had something specific in mind.)

Scene : Main Bridge USS Walter Burk (NCC-330)
“ Sitting at the Science Station Chief Science Officer Lt, Taylor Started pulled up a display of the derelict ship which had begun all of this, what more could she do but review. She overlaid all collected data from probes and sensors which were currently being run by dozens of other crewmembers.
“The visual she was looking at was chaotic at best but there were some evidentiary items of interest. On two separate scans there was some form of radiation streaming from the derelict Ship.
“A similar stream of radiation seemed to disappear into space on the track of the derelicts course to its current location. It could easily just be some unknown form of plasma but that did not explain why a Dead ship was still Venting Plasma
“Lt, Taylor focused on the radiation source that was closest to the BURK,
‘She was sitting at the Science’s station and had at his disposal several upgraded scanners designed to detect any bio-hazardous attacks on the Burk after all she was the Acting medical officer on Board “
“She was not a doctor, but the scanners would do their job without a skilled MD there to read them. The benefits of an older vessel she mused. There would be no harm in running these specialized scans. Immediately they began to read anomalies within the radiation. They identified as High Frequency Alpha Wave Inhibitors.
“Lt, Taylor instantly began to investigate the waves further to see what they might affect within the human body; he had no clue what an Alpha Wave Inhibitor might do. She also began to record the findings into a separate file for later investigation or usage in any proceeding that might follow.
“She quickly insured that the file was uncorrupted and as mechanically pure as possible. She then set up a separate file to record the exact same data under a JAG encryption, not easily tampered or altered just in case it became necessary. She remained convinced their was at least one enemy agent on board The Burk.
What the computer reported was startling to Lt, Taylor. She immediately informed the Captain. “Captain Powell, this probe is malicious towards us and affects the brain at a bio-molecular level.”
“Ensign, we have already ascertained that much.” Powell replied restraining the desire to tear off the Lieutenant’s head for restating the obvious. “You are going to have to do much better than that Lt, if you are going to remain on the bridge staff.”
“Yes sir, I realize we know that. Are we aware that the radiation is streaming from the derelict to us disguised as a harmless radiation or plasma leak? Are we also aware of the fact that the same radiation is streaming off into deep space from here in the direction of travel that the derelict has drifted?” Lt, Taylor said without awaiting comment. “Sir I believe this is some form of outside attack on our mental stability.”
“ Captain Powell not missing the gravity of the moment could not resist himself, “Lieutenant are you suggesting that we are mentally unstable or just yourself, because I, for one, feel perfectly stable.
Lt, Taylor turned the color of his uniform. “Sir, I…”
“LT, you are fine, relax let me make the decisions and you keep on digging stuff up, you seem to do that well.” Captain Powell replied with a smile to let the young Lt, off the hook. He then turned away from Jana to issue further orders to the crew, informed more now of the overall situation outside and in fact inside the ship.
Lt, Taylor went back to his console to see if there was further data to be processed or acted upon.

Scene: Main Bridge USS WALTER BURK
“In the intervening moments between giving orders and waiting for the Attacking ships to emerge from there Cloak and close in to firing range and destroy us Captain Cecil Powell finished making what preparations he could for a Contingency plan.
“Once the task was completed, he realized that now was probably the last good chance he'd get to leave a record of the incident for Starfleet, and so he took it. Activating the computer's voice-recording systems, he stood and walked slowly around the bridge. Captain's Log Stardate 238704.13, Captain Cecil David Powell reporting. For the past few hours, we've been engaged in a losing battle with Two Un-known Ships we Believe Part of a Kasar Patrol we have manage to Avoid them now for Three Weeks and Continued to cared out our Mission to gatherer any Valuable Intel we could About The Kasar “
“this all started Nine hours ago when my Chief science officer Lt Jana Taylor was Caring out Standard Scans of the Area when she came Across a derelict Ship Venting plasma we adjusted course to investigate “
“After Closer inspection we learn that the ship was not a derelict Ship but A Kasar Patrol Ship Pretending to be a derelict Ship Before we could Get away a second Kasar Ship Decloak from Behind and fired on us taking out our long range sensors and damaging our Warp drive we return fire to both Ship causing miner damage Before managing to get out of the Fire range “
“Having slowly circled the whole bridge once, Cecil turned into the center and took the Command chair as he finished the log.: concern, but he could not record those opinions while sitting on the Bridge with so many listening. Secondly, if they were destroyed and the record buoy was intercepted while Dr. Teller was still in their custody, the Kasar might decode the log and uncover his true identity. No matter his personal opinions about the man, Cecil would not be responsible for that. After a short few moments' deliberation, his decision had been made. No mention of the third tier of the mission would be made.
‘Captain Powell =/\= Computer End log. =/\= “After the computer had beeped in compliance, the Captain sat up and spoke to the officers around him.” Powell: How're the preparations coming, folks? Trolin: I have managed to launch the Mines as you ordered without the kasar Sensors Detecting them captain they should cause enough confusion for us to get away “Powell: Good. Rho? Falcon: I’ve got the various compartmentalization and anti-virus programs ready to roll. Once there Shields are Down I can transmit them into there computer I’ve also got a few other little surprises in store for them if they try to transport on board, “Powell: What sort of surprises? “Falcon: Gravity traps, anesthetic aerosols, anything quick and dirty I could set up. “Powell: Good, good. “
“Mister Albright Held our Kasar friends “
“Mister Albright Sir They are not Answering our held
“Powell that aright “
“Powell Tactical waits for them to decloak and get in to range of our mines before setting them off “
“Powell “Engineering Status
Engineering here sir we have main warp power back on line damage was miner but we will need a full over hall once we all back at the space station sir “
“Powell understand Lt. Cmdr Thomason”
“Powell helm standby to set course for star base Assailant Maximum warp
“Tactical officer captain I have two ships decloaking 2000 yards to our port and closing they will be in our Mine field in 60 seconds sir “
‘Powell Helm standby to take us to full implouse” Trolin: They are attacking all of there weapons are targeting us the ship-quake was more violent and lasted longer than anything they'd experienced during the battle-proper. The old girl was still holding together The Karsar is in the mine field
Powell set off the mines before they’d realize they been duped Captain Powell clenched his teeth in rage and hung onto the arms of the chair for the duration. The moment the shaking stopped, he nearly growled a single word.

Scene: USS WALTER BURK underway
(Captain Quarters)
“Captain took a final sip of his coffee and signed off on the final Departmental reports. The Chief of Boat was fair but consistent, and seemed to have everything in hand with the initial crew issues that started as soon as any ship was out of dock. Nothing too serious, thus far. Lewis made a mental note to sit down with the Chief, as the two of them had not had a chance to share thoughts since they left the space station.
He frowned as he read the Chief Science officer and acting chief medical officer after Battle report. Her Reports of a Possible Kasar Agent being on board the ship is still baring hard on my mind the possibility of one or more kasar Agents being on board should give star fleet security a big headache but that there headache not mind I have a ship to get back up and running “
The report from engineering was not much more hopeful. Powell was concerned that while they had been making some headway it seemed that other systems were starting to act up. Nothing critical yet, but it just didn't make sense. He was beginning to wonder if any of their work in dock had actually accomplished much Last time.
And then there was Commander Wolfe's investigation. There was not much progress so far. The Security Chief had been pursuing the possibility of Kasar Agents being on board
the comm. chimed and the face of his Yeoman appeared. "Yes Chief?"
"Captain, we are approaching the Delta Assailant system."
"Thank you chief."
Scene: Main Bridge 4.1035
“Captain Powell stepped onto the bridge. "Status?"
"We have reduced speed to Warp 3 and are approaching the system, Captain," Harper reported.
"Excellent." Powell settled into the center chair. "How's she flying, Lieutenant?"
"Like a dream, sir," Lumen said with a smile. "Arriving at Delta Assailant system in 5-4-3...2...1."
The Burk snapped smoothly out of warp and the view screen magnified the Star Base that they were approaching at impulse.
“Bridge to Captain.” “Captain, Admiral Magellan is haling you.
Powell “Pipe it to my Quarters, please, Ensign.”
“Seconds later Yes, Sir. Admiral “Powell pushed a button on his desk computer, and the United Federation of Planets logo appeared, followed by an image of Admiral Magellan the 2nd fleet commander, appeared. “Admiral Magellan,” Powell smiled. Good morning, Captain Powell. I hope that I am not waking you. “
“No, sir. I was awake already.” Excellent, the admiral smiled. Powell noticed that the Admiral hair was going greyer , welcome back in one piece but I can see by our sensors that would be and over statement captain the dock master has been apprised of your arrive I look forward to reading your report Magellan out.
“Captain Powell walks back on the Bridge everyone was at their stations ready for docking procedures. The Walter Burk had received Clearance to dock
He walked down to the command chair, as he sat; he looked at Cali and smiled.
"All departments report Green Captain" she reported with a smile.
"Ah good...let's Dock the old girl?" he said. "Helm, Take us in slow and easy "Right then...if you would Joan..."
Joan grinned. "Aye captain..." he worked the helm and a sound could be heard.” Docking clamps lock hatches sealed"
"Powell take main power off line notify the ship yard they can start repairs any Time I have a meeting with Admiral Magellan in one hour xo the ship is yours .

( 10 minutes later)
Star base Assailant – Main Corridor]
The sheer size and length of Star base’s main corridor was enough to impress any man. Standing over fifteen stories high and stretching on for over two miles, it was likely one of the largest indoor structures ever built…and that didn’t even include the countless smaller corridors that branched off into unknown parts of the massive station.
The proportions even appealed to Cecil sensibilities, the emotionless void at his center threatening to give way to the decidedly useless emotion of awe. Reigning in his thoughts, he pressed on to the main lift plaza that would take him to Admiral Lin’s office.
[Admiral Lin’s Office]
Secretary: “Captain Powell I presume?” Cecil arched an eyebrow. “Presumption is rarely productive.” Secretary: smiling: “Admiral Lin warned me about you.” Cecil: “Indeed.” Lin “Are you giving my secretary a hard time?” Cecil was about to answer when the admiral held up his hand. “Never mind. You don’t need to answer that. Come on in, Captain.” He said, gesturing toward his office.
After Cecil had given his Detail and very Gray report, Lin nodded. “It was pretty much what Captain N’Var from Star fleet Black ops told me. Are you certain that the evidence your men collected is accurate? About the genetic experiments?” Cecil: “Although they did not obtain a tissue sample, their scans leave little to the imagination Admiral.” Lin: “I see.” He said, allowing silence to prevail for a moment. “I’ll put it in my report to Starfleet Command. I’m hoping that they will authorize and armed incursion into the system. We’re going to need to deal with the Kasar eventually.” Cecil nodded noncommittally. It wasn’t his place to decide policy, only to carry out his orders. The fact that the Nelson would be ready should that order come did not need to be expressed. Lin: “Very well, Captain, is there anything else?” Cecil: “I will be holding a small reception is the James Tiberius Kirk room on level four this afternoon to honor three of my crew members. I would be…pleased, as would they, if you were able to attend.” Lin: smiling: “I think I’m free this afternoon at…what time did you say it was?” Cecil: “I did not. It will be at 1800 hours.” Lin: “What a coincidence!” He said in mock surprise. “That’s when I’m free.”
[James Tiberius Kirk Room – 1800 hours]
Cecil stood tall, his full dress uniform making him look like he was born for full military regalia. “Thank you all for coming. As luck would have it, for this small ceremony, we are fortunate enough to have a guest.” he said, indicating Admiral Lin. A mutter of excitement flittered through the room as those who knew him marveled and those who didn’t tried to guess who he was. Cecil stood. “Thank you, Admiral Lin for attending and witnessing this ceremony. Lieutenant Junior Grade Leone Jhelum.” He called. Leone rose gracefully from her chair and approached him, her smile radiant. Captain Powell reached into a small felt box and removed a shiny new pip from it. “For your continuing service to Star fleet and your commitment to the charter for which it stands, I hereby promote you to the rank of full Lieutenant, with all of the privileges and responsibilities there of.” He said, pinning the pip to her collar. “Congratulations, Lieutenant.” He said, extending his hand to her, which she took perhaps more tenderly than he intended. Jhelum: “Thank you Captain.”
Powell nodded as he took his seat. “Lieutenant Junior Grade Chiloe Townsend-McKnight.” He called and she likewise approached him. “For your steadfast loyalty and service to the people of the United Federation of Planets, I hereby promote you to the rank of full Lieutenant, with all of the privileges and responsibilities there of.” He said, repeating the pinning of the pip for his Head Conn Officer. “Congratulations Lieutenant.” After she took her seat, he proceeded to the last of the three, but certainly not the least. Powell: “Lieutenant Junior Grade Laminar.” He said, and Steve approached. “For your sacrifices made and for your continuing service to Star fleet, I hereby promote you to the rank of full Lieutenant, with all of the privileges and responsibilities thereof. Congratulations, Lieutenant.” He said pinning the new pip on his new Operations Officer. After Steve took his seat, Captain Powell raised his glass.
Powell: “To the new Lieutenants. May they bear their new responsibilities with honor and renewed dedication?” All: “To the new Lieutenants!”

Back Posting:
"Symbiosis is a very tricky thing" he said presently. He paused to see if any other scientists were nearby, "I had some issues myself when joined, Lin was an emotionally scared symbiont, part of the reason was that he was very nearly stolen by blackmarketeers in his previous host. I had a whole raft of integration issues technophobia all sorts... It takes time. removal is so... so drastic. If you've been joined too long then the separation could kill you, you do realise that?"
Tiana nodded. She knew host death was a distinct possibility even with the new drugs; her brother's death had made that quite clear. She swallowed hard. "It was always a temporary measure, sir. Cet was unstable when the previous host died. The joining was an emergency stabilization measure. Cet's a security expert and I'm... well not."
"Maybe, sir." Tiana wasn't sure what she needed but was very grateful for any for of advice. She turned to head back to her duties.
Carrying on: Tiana opened her eyes and found herself looking at a ceiling. Glancing around she found herself laying in what appeared to be a medical bay, although not the one on the Victory.
A nurse came over to her. "How are you feeling? What do you remember?
Tiana frowned. "I feel like someone's been impact testing my skull." She tried to remember. "I was on my way back to the explosion site. Then ... I think I remember someone grabbing me ..." Tiana really wasn't used to her memory feeling this fractured.
"You were found on your own, collapsed in a corridor. Your neurotransmitters have been spiking and badly out of balance." Her eyes flicked to the display above Tiana's head. "It seems that they have stabilised, for the moment."
"Commander Galwyn, can you come to Ops we have a new problem, we seem to have mislaid Ensign Wolf. I could do with your scientific skills to find out where he has gone."
"Commander Galwyn here, sir. I'm in sickbay. I'll be with you as soon as I can." The nurse eyed Tiana in a somewhat unfriendly manner. Then she sighed.
"You are stable for the moment. I don't think you really should leave sickbay but at this second there is nothing wrong with you. I'm not an expert on Trill neurology but you need monitoring." Nurse Langham produced a small device and pressed it to Tiana's temple. "That will sound an alarm if your neurotransmitters deviate from accepted norms."
Tiana smiled "Thank-you." Nurse Langham relaxed slightly and gave a cough that sounded distinctly like 'duty' then shrugged. "I'm just glad I found a way not to have to try to keep you here. I heard what you did to two orderlies on the Victory.
Tiana blushed. "ummm. I wasn't really myself then.... Thank-you." The nurse gave her a small smile as Tiana left sick bay walking carefully and deliberately and hoping the alarm didn't sound.
She made it to ops and looked around for Admiral Lin. She hadn't looked in a mirror but suspected that she did indeed look like someone who had been unconscious not 10 minutes before.
"I'm here, sir. I was let out of sickbay and I feel up to working. Can anyone tell me where and when Ensign Wolf was last seen?"

Saryn kept close guard on his firstborn, as he was engaged deeply in a mind meld with the prisoner, monotonely whispering out names as he delved deeper into Kray's mind. By his calculation, Savin had been engaged in the mind meld well over an hour now, and he could tell the youth was tiring. Where at first the young Vulcan had been sitting up fairly straight, his head was now bowed, his figure a little slouched. Adding to that their lack of skill and endurance where mental practice was concerned, in comparison to modern day Vulcans, it was no surprise the youth was exhausted.
The sound of phaser fire made the older Vulcan look up, an arched eyebrow the only indication of his surprise at finding his companions stunned. He wondered why he wasn't stunned just as he felt the pressure of the phaser against his neck. "Break it off," his captor ordered harshly.
"I cannot, it is dangerous," Saryn explained, "he is in too deep."
"Break it off, or I will." His captor's hand moved to Savin's shoulder, ready to tear him away from Kray.
"No!" Saryn slapped the hand aside, then crumbled as the phaser was smashed across his cheek. "I will break it." He crouched beside his son, his fingers splaying across the youth's cheek, trembling slightly before they touched skin. <i>Come back</i> he thought <i>There is danger here, you must withdraw. Savin come back to me.</i> He repeated his words until Savin gasped and returned to consciousness, his hand falling away from Kray's face.
The youth swayed and Saryn caught and steadied him. "Easy my son, you must rest. Easy.." A blue beam shot past him, hitting Savin squarely in the chest.
"He is resting. Do not move Vulcan." The setting on the phaser was changed, no doubt to a heavier stun to subdue him. "Kray, let's go!"
Saryn remained motionless, holding the unconscious body of his son in his arms, silently checking his vitals. His sharp hearing picked up footsteps outside the room, knowing rescue was on the way. Yet he was so engrossed in checking on his son, that he never saw the phaser coming down, connecting hard with the back of his head. With a groan, he fell forward, slumping over his son. The last he heard were the retreating footsteps of Kray, before losing consciousness as well.
[matthew feel free to take it from here. Your Vulcans are otherwise unharmed, just stunned]
