Those who have already read the contents of mission 12.0 will have seen that the El Salvador-B, long-standing Prometheus class battleship of Section 47, is being retired.
After speaking with CSS I was given authorization to have the damage we sustained necessitate the B's replacement, and the El Salvador-C is a go. I'll be starting a new thread in the next few days detailing our official transfer to that vessel, which is still under construction at the Mars shipyards. Ergo, our next few weeks at least, of posting will be participating in finishing the ship's construction to get her ready to go.
As stated in the latest CSS Meeting Minutes, the El Salvador-C will start out as an Academy starship; providing an environment for incoming members to learn about Star Trek simming under the guidance of we few remaining officers who all possess a significant amount of experience. As time goes on the situation may be revisited as our roster grows to contain permanent crew additions, at which point the El Sal-C would move to non-Academy duties.
Technical Specs: The El Salvador-C will be an Excalibur Class variant, as seen in the Star Trek Online game. I took the liberty of modelling it in-game and taking some shots to show you all precisely how she'll look.
The following link is to the photobucket album I made for these pics, and I hope I snagged all the angles necessary to address your creative curiosity : )

The NCC-registry number isn't right, since STO forces you into a specific numeral range, but everything else appearance-wise should be dead-on. In essence, it's a modernized look for the Constitution Refit from movies 1-6, which has always been my favorite starship look.
I'll post more specific technical info about ship-systems and technology over time, but right off the bat I can tell you she won't pack as much offensive punch as the Prometheus design, but she's no slouch in space combat. Also she's much better designed for scientific and/or technical missions.
To be honest; I reconsidered the idea of replacing the El Sal-B about a half-dozen times since it first came to me, I've spent about 97% of my S47 career on that Prometheus cruiser (the other 3% being aboard the El Sal-A briefly before her demise) and she's been one heck of a home for many years. But I am excited about the prospect of new adventures aboard her successor, and I hope you all will come to feel the same
As there is still construction going on in-sim, if any of you have ideas as to systems/equipment/components to include in her specs, feel free to PM/email/etc and run them by me. I'll mull them over and add them to the mix if I think they'll work.
