"OK ..." Brisken said, "You have control Ensign." =^= Discovery to Defiance .. Drop to one third impulse .. Separate to ten thousand kilometers .. Begin scanning for a warp signature ! =^= Calli said instantly. Within minutes she found what she was looking for. But she didn't like what she was seeing ..... Going off their readings, the Constitution had got lucky, missing the solid planet, and instead heading for the water moon ... Worse was to come though as she continued scanning. "Erm ... Sir ... From what I can tell the Constitution has impacted the moon. There's no way she could have survived such a collision." Calli said. "What about a controlled landing as you suggested ..... Scan for the hull." Calli adjusted her sensors and began scanning 'below' the surface. Minutes passed as the shuttles traversed the moon. She almost jumped out of her seat as she suddenly picked up a reading ! "SIR ! ... Duranium-Tritanium composite readings ... LARGE object. Oh my God, it's the Constitution. She's below the surface, and from what I can get she's intact, or mostly so. I'm picking up one object, possibly a nacelle, but as for the main hull, integrity seems OK ... WHOA !" Ensign ?" Brisken said. "Sir .... If my readings are correct, the ship is almost two thousand six hundred feet below the surface !" It didn't take a mathematical genius to figure out the numbers .. There was over one thousand one hundred pounds per square inch of pressure pushing down on the hull. Even tritanium would struggle under those pressures without shields. The slightest 'tap' on the hull would pop it like the proverbial over-filled balloon ! "There can't be many, if indeed any, survivors from that Commander." Calli said quietly, "To be honest, I can't understand how the ship is holding integrity, unless she still has power. Either way it isn't going to last long, and when it goes ......" She didn't need to point out the obvious .......... < tag : ALL >COME ON !

"Sir, scans are showing there are survivors, although its difficult to say exactly how many" Daya spoke up to break the silence, something he was always good at doing, uncomfortable silence was a weakness of his.
"I'll keep my scans running to see if i can figure out how many survivors we have" He said as the few moments of silence returned.

In a cosmic spectacle, the shuttles Discovery and Defiance dropped out of warp, after a three day journey. There was no doubt that the two small teams were weary of their journey and itching to get to work.
On the Discovery, Brisken, sitting at the helm brought the shuttle into a standard orbit, watching the Defiance follow suit. He started initial scans of the planet in question, trying to find evidence of what had happened. He opened a channel to the Defiance.
"Alright everyone, listen up. From what we can tell here, the Constitution went down in the ocean. Thanks to miss Valenti, we are reading it is twenty-six hundred feet below the surface. For those of you that don't know what that means, that hull should be done for, yet it isn't. We have equipment to do some deep sea diving and I want to send a crew down there to see if we can get in or at least figure out what the hell happened. Wedlerson, I'm sending Miss Valenti over to you. The two of you are to remain in orbit and figure the who, what, when, where, why, and how of this crash. Do whatever it takes."
(Valenti, if you would please report to the other shuttle)
As the crew were transferred to their spots, Brisken took the Discovery down to the planet. He found a small island, seemingly the only piece of land on the planet, and set the shuttle down. He and the other five officers piled out of the shuttle. Turning to them, he said, "We are going to work from here. Daya, I'd like you, Stewart, and Richardson to prep for some diving. The four of us will be taking a little swim to the bottom. Wilson, you and Smith work with the Defiance on trying to figure out what happened."
The officers went off to do their assigned tasks.
--- On the Defiance ---
Harry sat, ready to twirl around in his chair as the first scans were reporting findings. Not quite ready to look at them, he stood up and moved to the replicator, which had recently been installed on the shuttle. Getting a glass of water, he sat back down and started through the scan results. As Daya had suggested, there seemed to be survivors on the ship, but at this point, they were unreachable, and were safer inside the ship if they did nothing until the diving team had fully analyzed as much as they could.
Just then, the console beeped, signifying a very faint energy signature eminating from the ship's location. "Calli, what do you make of that?" he asked, referring to the energy signature.
(Calli)
--- On the surface ---
As the diving team penetrated the water, Brisken took the lead. The began their downward stride, daring to go as far as they could before rupturing something important. Having chosen equipment they would be allowed to communicate in, Brisken said, "We are going to push it folks. Mr. Stewart, you and Richardson analyze the ship's status. I want to know if there is a way we can beam people in and out."
(Stewart)
"Daya, analyze and kind of energy readings, focusing on weapons signatures. I want to find out who did this."
(Daya)
Brisken was very quickly starting to not like this situation......

"...... Wedlerson, I'm sending Mister Valenti over to you. The two of you are to remain in orbit and figure the who, what, when, where, why, and how of this crash. Do whatever it takes."
Calli was picking up her bag while Brisken was speaking. Moving to the rear of the shuttle she nodded to Daya.
"Have a good trip." he said, activating the transporter control. The simultaneous transport saw her appear on the Defiance, while Ensign Stewart beamed to the Discovery ... Once complete, the other shuttle headed toward the surface.
"Welcome aboard Ensign ...."
"Thanks." Calli said, dropping her bag and sitting down, "Can we adopt a Geosynchronous orbit above that land mass ?"
"On it." Wedlerson said instantly.
First task, she set one of the auxiliary sensors to follow the Discovery at all times. A second array was tasked with bio-signs of the crew going to the surface. Once satisfied she had them, she turned to her bag. Taking a tricorder, she set it on the console. It would make a record of all readings, just in case ...
Rotating the shuttle through one hundred eighty degrees, she pointed the main sensors back the way they had come. Given the relatively moderate range, it would take time to gather all the information she wanted. Setting the panel to alert her once it had sufficient to correlate, she went to the replicator.
"Can I get you anything Lieutenant ?" she asked ..........
~~~~~~~~~~
It took less than an hour for the data to start coming in ... Valenti looked at it in silence for a moment then opened a Comm link.
=^= Valenti to Brisken =^=
=^= Go ahead =^=
=^= Sir .. I'm picking up two ion trails .. The Constitutions and a federation shuttles trail .. The shuttle was having difficulty .. In fact it looks to have exploded close to the Constitution .. Possibly the cause of their crash ? .. I'm still checking but it looks like the Constitution came in for a partial controlled landing on the surface .. The Captain would have known they would sink like a stone =^=
=^= We're making our way down to the ship now .. Anything else ? =^= Brisken said through his breathing apparatus.
=^= She hit hard .. Despite the Captains' efforts .. The nacelles were ripped clean off and there's possibly damage to the saucer section .. But from here it's hard to tell =^=
=^= Keep me updated .. Brisken out =^=
The Comm went dead and Calli began another set of scans ..........
Darkness covered him, but then he was used to that. To be without sight heightened the other senses. But then even sound seemed curiously muffled, he thought, as he tapped the hard-edged wall with the back of his good hand. It was of course the vast body of water dampening the sound waves.
Each time he regained consciousness, in the terrible agony that was shrouding him with its heavy cloak, he found one question thundering to the forefront of his mind; it evolved to another pointless query for him to fire at the nothingness: How far had the ship fallen?
The occasional popping of his ears, and the odd stuffy feeling he experienced gave him some sort of answer.. "Probably a long way." What manner of weapon had damaged the ship such that it could not even break orbit, could not avert its disastrous plunge down to this world? And, he thought with bitterness, luck would have it it'd ended up underwater, and luck would have it he'd eventually die here.
A small voice, ragged, hoarse from the terror of the impact spoke to him from within. It was the same Qlani whom had directed him in his surface objectives; he must still be alive somewhere on the ship. The warrior barely spoke a word to him through the microchip installed in his head, and he thought maybe the Qlani was more concerned about preserving his own life. Perhaps he was too much in pain, too deep in the delirium of impending death, to be able to string together just a single thought of logic?
No deeper than eleven hundred metres... If the ship were deeper than that, the hull would've been crushed instantly. He nursed the thought.
He felt his way around his small, cocoon-like volume, to the place where the water was starting to leak in. This space wasn't made from any part of the ship, but it was a new space that'd come into being from the crush of the ship's impact on the sea. As such, there were small cracks and imperfections in the new wall-space, and one let through a small but steady drip of water.
He felt the whisperings, ever present in his ear, and they combined with the drops to create a sort of ghosting music. It was all a reminder to him; he was soon to perish.
=^= Valenti to Brisken =^=
=^= Brisken =^=
=^= Sir ... I'm getting more accurate readings now .. I can only surmise but .. It looks like the shuttle approaching the Constitution had been fired upon .. Constitution took the risk of getting in close enough to beam those on the shuttle away but got caught in the blast .. The core almost exploded but somehow the ship managed to survive .. One HELL of an Engineering Officer if you ask me =^=
=^= We're at two thousand four hundred feet .. Can you find us an entry point Calli ? =^=
She scanned the spec's for an Intrepid Class vessel ..... Going off what she could tell, the safest entry would be the forward docking port situated on deck eight, that was providing it wasn't buried under the tonnes of silt on the sea bed floor. She looked at an alternate entry point before relaying the information to Brisken.
She watched as the team dropped their auxiliary weights, the momentum taking them the last twenty meters ..... She was frustrated at the fact she was sat here when she could have been useful on the Constitution, but for once she chose not to complain. Wedlerson was still carrying out scans away from the surface, he nodded to Calli to keep contact with the sub-surface team ...
=^= My God .. How could she have survived this .... =^= Ensign Richardson said as the divers approached the Constitution.
< tag : Brisken / Dive team >
=^= The air-lock is showing stable .. But I can't be one hundred percent my readings are accurate .. I'm picking up faint life-signs .. Location unknown .. Some of the ship is obviously compromised .. Flooded .. I'd suggest scanning the lock before opening =^= Calli said, nerves beginning to show.
She worked hard, trying to make a connection between the Constitution and the Discovery computers. It was hard going, but she was getting some control. Suddenly she watched a reading change ... The outer door of air-lock zero eight one began to cycle. She knew instantly what the team would find on the other side of the inner lock door ...
“Aye sir” replied James stepping in to the cold murky water in the environmental suits that were normally used for in space, he looked over towards his team-mates who were joining him on this mission underwater. He knew that this was something of an experience he never wanted to do again.
However; in his career he knew he might have to turning on the lights of his helmet, he started to dive down towards where they thought the ship had settled on, he continued to hope that the ship would have enough pockets of air for the survivors if their were any.
He said “100 meters and holding sir.” as the depth reader continued to measure the depth, he asked “Sir, have these suits been tested for this?” as he continued on down through the murky water
[Brisken]
As he continued down James continued hoping that the suit would hold at the depths it, still he wondered if they would find a way in to the crippled vessel that lay on the bottom of the sea bed.
He continued on diving down deeper than he ever had, James started to hope that they found living survivors, this was something they hoped to find as questions needed to be answered as to how the ship came to be here as he knew that he and Richardson were to see if they could beam the survivors out safely.
He said “Hey Richardson, you allright mate?” asking if the officer was ok and checking on his team-mate, as he had been told to do whilst diving.
--Under Water-- Finishing the conversation with the shuttle, Brisken moved on ahead. Brisken could feel the suit doing its job. All he cared about in regards to it were that it kept him breathing. He could deal with the rest. The team descended ever so much further down into the depths of what seemed to be a watery grave. Brisken certainly hoped that it would not become theirs. Stewart spoke. "Sir, have these suits been tested for this?" The helmsman replied, "If they haven't then I am sure this will go down in the record books. And we have little choice ensign. If you can't handle the pressure of being a Starfleet officer, then perhaps you should consider another profession." Brisked hoped he wasn't being to harsh with the young ensign, but the younger man would have to learn. As they descended deeper and deeper, the water for some reason appeared to get clearer. Brisken saw the ship looming below them. It was an eerie sight. Having only a few hundred feet to go, Ensign Richardson's suit began to beep. It was losing life support. "Richardson, switch to back up NOW!" It was too late. The man's suit flooded and the body went limp. "Brisken to Defiance." =/\= Wedlerson here, sir.=/\= "Beam up Richardson. He is dead." =/\= We can't get a lock. Wait....what the hell happened?=/\= Brisken sighed. "He lost life support and water flooded into his suit." He moved his body to Stewart. "Ensign, take the body back to the surface. We won't be needing your help right away. Resupply your air and get back down here ad go through the air lock." (Stewart) Brisken and Daya continued on. They finally reached their destination and for some reason easily opened the air lock. Brisken looked at Daya. "What the hell..." They entered the air lock of the Intrepid class ship. (Tag: Daya, what happened next? -------------------------------- --On the shuttle Defiance-- Wedlerson sat, almost in shock. It was ridiculous. Richardson seemed to just....die! "I wonder what the hell happened," he said, not really speaking to anyone. Suddenly, klaxon's sounded off and shook Harry back to reality. "What the hell is going on?" Calli replied, "There is a small ship dropping out of warp. They are powering weapons!" "Dammit!" Harry immediately raised the shields. "That damn ship is small, but its still bigger than us. Ready on the guns." He tapped his comm badge. "Commander, either I am having a fantasy of fighting a space battle alongside a really hot woman, or we are royally screwed." =/\= We just entered the Constitution, what's going on?=/\= "Umm, a ship just dropped out of warp with weapons locked. Not that I am trying to usurp your throne on this mission, but I am going to go ahead and take some evasive actions." He piloted the shuttle on a defensive pattern. The unidentified ship fired once, narrowly missing them. The ship fired again, this time scoring a direct hit on the port side of the shuttle. "Learn how to fly!!" Calli shouted amidst the loud crashes and sparks. "Oh, thank you for that wonderful piece of advice. I'll make sure to go ahead and take flying lessons." He spoke in a sarcastic tone. "Care to offer a few real options?" (Calli)
“Aye Sir.” replied James as he looked back at the corpse of Richardson, he asked “do you want them to find out what caused the suit to malfunction Sir?” as he posed the question to the senior officer, after all it was something he didn’t want happening to anyone else.
{Brisken]
James took hold of the handle and began to head back to the surface as he pulled the corpse behind him, still he knew that something had gone horribly wrong, having lost a member of the team it now rested with Brisken and himself to find survivors in the crippled ship that lay behind him.
After a few Hours James reached the surface, as started to climb out of the water nearing the shallow part he said” come and give me a hand here.” as he started to lay down the corpse on she sand, Ensign Wilson moved over to him and looked down at the young man.
“Dam, he was a fine chap to be around.” replied Paul he looked up at James and continued “By the way James there’s a Message for you on the Com.” as he started to unhook his helmet he said “cheers, but I need to have the suit refilled with clean air.” as he dropped the backpack and headed for the shuttle.
[inside the shuttle]
James headed for the front console and began to punch in his personal code and found that he had received new orders, he read.
================== TO: Stewart ,James CEO USS Raven From: Tobias Commander SB 518 Subject; New assignment
Greetings Ensign
It is with deep sadness that you will not be able to Join the USS Raven as you have been reassigned to SB 47 (Fleet HQ) along with this move you have been promoted to LT JG.
I know you are on a mission at this time However you Must report to SB 47 Immediately, congratulations on the promotion Lieutenant.
Yours Commander Tobias SB 518
=======================
~Oh Christ I’ve been moved again.~ James thought as he reread the sub-space message, he tapped the com channel and spoke “Stewart to Brisken.”
[Brisken]
“I’ve been reassigned to Fleet HQ” replied James as he had kept the communiqué up on the screen, he continued “and to top it off I have to leave now.”
[Brisken]
“Yes sir, I have to take the shuttle with me” replied James knowing that now they only had one vessel to work with, he didn’t like it but Orders were orders, he finished “Good luck sir with the rescue.”
[Brisken]
The channel closed , James began the pre flight checks, Paul entered the Shuttle “what the hell do you think you are doing?” he asked as he saw James’s Orders, James replied “ I have been ordered back to fleet HQ.”
“Do you know why James?” asked Paul, James looked up and replied “Nope all I know is the same as you.” Paul replied “well then id better let you go then , Good luck Sir.” giving him a nod as he exited the craft, as James took off
Daya began the decent into the dark water with a bit of an uneasy feeling on his mind. From his previous experiences he knew that not everything was what it seemed. For instance, it seemed that this mission was a pretty routine mission, given the fact that a star fleet vessel crashed into a watery planet. It also seemed like the long swim to get to the ship would be an uneventful one, but that was not to be.
Before too long Ensign Richardson's suit lost its life support, and the poor guy died. This made the uneasy feeling in Daya's mind intensify, while a small feeling of remorse grew on him. Although he did not know the ensign for more than the time it took to dive in and him to die, he still felt bad. "Brisken to Defiance."
=/\= Wedlerson here, sir.=/\=
"Beam up Richardson. He is dead."
=/\= We can't get a lock. Wait....what the hell happened?=/\=
Brisken sighed. "He lost life support and water flooded into his suit." He moved his body to Stewart. "Ensign, take the body back to the surface. We won't be needing your help right away. Resupply your air and get back down here ad go through the air lock."
Daya had continued to swim ahead, scanning every so often to see what he could find, various water life forms and the such. Nothing out of the normal, aside from the star ship laying at the bottom.
Brisken and Daya continued on. They finally reached their destination and for some reason easily opened the air lock. Brisken looked at Daya. "What the hell..." They entered the air lock of the Intrepid class ship. Daya moved in first, the light on his head shining against a console on the wall, the "ensign" eyed the console as he moved forward into the hallway. "This hallway is completely full of water, the way the air lock opened, i wouldn't be surprised to see most of the ship this way as well. The water pressure from the outside would have crushed the hull already if the inside pressure wasn't pretty close to the same." He looked back at Brisken, who nodded and input his own thoughts
<tag Brisken>
The two continued forward and neared a bend in the hall, not expecting anything different Daya swam forward, only to be confronted with a pale face inches from his own. "AAhhhh!" he screamed as he flailed away from the corpse. Taking a few deep breaths to calm his heart, he looked back at Brisken who was smiling. "Its not funny" the "ensign" replied before gently moving the body aside.
<tag Brisken>
Taking a look at the scanner once again, he took a moment to analyze it. "that's not right.." he said as he pushed the scanner again. "This is strange... I'm only reading three life signs, two of them are ours.... There should have been more survivors, and the last reading is slowly fading. We need to hurry" Daya swam forward down the hall and noticed a few other bodies along the way, something definitely went wrong onboard. When they reached the end of the hall, the water had started to lessen, and they could almost hold their heads above the water near the ceiling.
"Oh ... Thank you for that wonderful piece of advice. I'll make sure to go ahead and take flying lessons." Wedlerson said in a sarcastic tone. "Care to offer a few real options ?"
Calli moved into the second seat and scanned the surrounding area. The shuttle lurched to port violently as it was hit again. Calli took the controls without asking and threw the shuttle into a steep dive. Harry almost protested, but realized he was out-classed when insane flying was required. He re-acquired the other vessel and sent two beams of energy lancing through space.
"Wait ..." Calli said as she checked her heading, "On my mark open fire ......"
She turned the shuttle again, appearing to slow, but in reality allowing the other vessel to close. finding what she wanted she turned again, this time pointing the nose almost vertical ... Sea, or more correctly, space sickness was a thing of the past, but motion sickness, even with inertial dampers was still very much around, and Harry almost proved it. The enemy shuttle was now gaining and Calli watched it closely. Then, without warning she ordered him to fire while simultaneously pulling the shuttle into a climb. The phaser fire impacted the enemy ship disrupting their control surfaces and it spun helplessly down into the lower atmosphere ... Seconds later they could see the explosion as the craft smashed into the rock-hard water below ... Valenti took the shuttle back up into geostationary orbit and moved back to her own seat.
Neither spoke for a few moments, then Harry put a hand on her shoulder.
"Nice flying Ensign."
Calli wasn't really listening ... She turned to begin scans then she watched their sister shuttle rising from the small island. It only took minutes to be brought up to speed re Stewart's departure. As they couldn't do any more for those diving, Harry decided they were of better use on the ground and began his approach.
~~~~~~~~~~
"So who do we have left ?" Wedlerson asked as he jumped from the shuttle.
"Commander Brisken, Ensign Daya, and myself." Barton said.
Calli was still scanning the ship below. She could see now that there were only three life-signs ... 'That's ridiculous' she thought, realizing that hundreds had perished. She could see Brisken and Daya, identified from their suit transponders, moving toward a still dry section of the Constitution. She could also see the other life-sign, weakening, but still in no immediate danger, less than thirty meters ahead. She tapped the Comm ...
=^= Valenti to Brisken =^=
=^= Brisken =^=
=^= Scans show three .. I repeat three life-signs only .. The one you are heading toward is thirty meters ahead .. The way should be clear of water within meters due to the angle the ship has rested at =^= Daya nodded confirmation of her readings.
A few moments later she heard the Comm come to life ...
=^= Brisken ...... We have him .. Unconscious but in no danger .. Valenti do a thorough scan to make sure there are no more survivors =^=
=^= Already done Commander .. Twice .. There's no-one left down there =^=
After a second she got a reply.
=^= We're moving the survivor to the air-lock then we'll set self destruct .. There's no way the ship can be salvaged .. Brisken out =^=
~~~~~~~~~~
Thirty five minutes later the three men broke the surface close to shore. Calli and Wedlerson ran to take the unconscious man from them ... When all three were safely on solid ground Brisken tapped a command into his arm pad and waited ...
Seconds later, the surface of the water rose almost ten meters as the nuclear explosion destroyed the Constitution hundreds of meters below. The water level dropped, sending a mini tsunami up the gravel beach and around their feet.
"Rest in Peace." Wedlerson said quietly.
"Get him inside then take us back into orbit." Brisken said quietly.
Harry took the shuttle down to the planet, as ordered by Brisken. The other shuttle had been taken by Stewart for whatever reason. It didn't matter. You don't leave a fight like that. Setting down, Harry opened the rear hatch to allow the atmosphere to settle in and he walked out, Callie right behind him. Looking at the the members of his team that remained, Harry took notice of the man they carried onto shore. His eyes widened in shock. "Is that...?"
"Yes it is," Brisken said interrupting. "For those of you who don't know, this is Commander Blakus."
"What the hell is he doing here?" Harry asked.
Brisken shook his head. "Your guess is as good as mine. I'm sure when he comes to, he is going to have a lot to answer for."
The team, now consisting of only Brisken, Callie, Daya, Harry, and the remaining officer boarded the Defiance. The scene was silent in the shuttle. No one dared to speak as they took off and headed back to base. All members thought of the recent events and reflected on the loss of the crewmember. They were in for a long ride home......
OOC: Ok guys. It looks like the main thread is going to be finishing up soon. We will end it here and prepare for our next outing as it comes along.
