It had been a few weeks since the Olympia's last ordeal, and now Steven was pretty much healed up from the injuries he had sustained. He was now deemed 'fit for duty', but not that it would have stopped him anyways.
After checking in on Renora, 'My, how she is growing', he thought, Steve was about to leave his quarters to make his presence known by sitting in on a shift on the bridge. As soon as he got to his door, he recieved a message on his data terminal.
Sighing, Steve stopped and re-entered his quarters, and approached his desk, leaning on the back of his chair. Tapping the console, he brought up the message and scanned over the contents. It was a message from Starfleet Command, with new orders for the Olympia. He picked up a nearby padd and transferred the contents to it, before opening a comm link.
=/\= Smith to all Senior Staff currently on ship, I'm holding a meeting in the conference lounge in one hour. Don't be late, Smith out. =/\=
As most of the staff would be away on shoreleave, sent out variations of the same message to the rest of them so that they could get back asap.
Now that was done, he headed back out to the Bridge again.
OOC: Sorry for the shortness, I just want to get things going as smoothly as we can.

“I don’t want to see you in here again for holodeck related injuries, one more time and I’ll have you banned from using it.” She said sternly as she walked past the bio-bed that had an Ensign from Engineering laying on it. She had seen him four times in the last two weeks at least.
She was about to step into her office when a junior doctor walked up behind her and said. “Test results for Commander Hope are back.” Janet spun around and took the padd, she studied it for a moment before looking up. “Are you sure?”
He nodded. “Same results three times, it is definite.” He paused. “I could run it again if you like.”
She shook her head slowly as she looked back down at the padd.”No, I suspected this anyway.” She looked up at him and gave a curt nod. “Thank you.”
Stepping into her office she dropped the padd on the desk, it was too early to call in Commander Rose, Alpha shift didn’t start officially for another ninety minutes and if Rose was following advice she would be sound asleep. She busied herself with reports, they always seemed to stack up no matter how much she chipped away at them. Ninety minutes past before she even realised it.
She was about to issue orders to the newly arriving nurses for Alpha shift when the comm channel sparked up.
=/\= Smith to all Senior Staff currently on ship, I'm holding a meeting in the conference lounge in one hour. Don't be late, Smith out. =/\=
She let out a deep sigh, she hated meetings with a passion, standing up she walked out of her office. “Sarah, I’m going to my quarters take a shower and have breakfast, then I’ll be in a staff meeting hold down the fort until I get back please.”
Sarah who was head nurse nodded slightly. “Of course Doctor.”
*One hour Later*
Janet walked into the observation lounge and took a seat, aside from Admiral Smith no one else had yet arrived, if there was one thing she hated more than meetings it was getting to them early. She gave a curt nod as she said. “Morning Admiral.”

Crystal was still feeling a bit better so was doing her best to follow Doctor Reilly's orders but it was difficult. She was grateful that Admiral Smith was well agins and back on duty. She was sure he would be dealing with the bad memories for a while to come... Goodness only knew she was.
Crystal shook her head, the memories were there but she had many more good memories. She was currently sprawlled out on her sofa reading a journal article had Jedda had contibuted to. It was her cousin's first publication and Crystal was very proud of Jedda, no one else in the family would really understand but Crystal did so she was making a point to read the paper in detail and send a congratulatory message.
=/\= Smith to all Senior Staff currently on ship, I'm holding a meeting in the conference lounge in one hour. Don't be late, Smith out. =/\=
Crystal raised one eyebrowand asked the computer top remind her in fifty minutes. Then she finished writing her message to Jedda and sent it, it had a long trip to get all the way back to Earth. Then treated herself to a leisurely brunch (at least from her relative timescale) and a shower before changing into a new uniform, she was half way through changing when the computer reminded her of the time, and heading for the conference lounge. She walked through the doors with about 90 seconds to spare. She smiled to the other occupants. "Morning Admiral, Morning Doctor."
She settled in a chair and put a PADD on the table in front of her waiting.

Meandering about the promenade of Starbase 47, John Smith III, a human ensign fresh out of the academy, looked about the station. It was much like spacedock at Earth, where many thousands of people from a variety of species journeyed to and from going about their daily business. Two weeks ago, John had been given orders to report to Starbase Forty Seven for duty as the new Chief Engineer of a starship he had yet to be informed on. Apparently, this sector of space was more classified than not. From what he had gathered in his form of proverbial espionage, this starbase was relatively unknown on the large scale, which typically meant that the missions being completed here were likely to be highly dangerous. It was no matter to John. He had no family left to speak of, his mother and still unborn younger brother inexplicably dying during childbirth. He was truly the last of his line and he had no plans for the future. He would just take his life one step at a time.
John neared the control center, which was where he was to get his new assignment. While he had a strong desire to live in the present, it didn't hinder a certain measure of excitement about joining his first ship. At the academy, he specialized in engine systems and warp theory, spending much of his spare time finding new ways to make power generation go to peak efficiency. However, one of his hobbies, which he was sure would prove useful, was his study of weapon systems. As an academy project, he designed a plan to tie the excess energy from unused warp plasma directly into the phaser array of a Miranda class escort ship. The extra power added thirty five percent more bang for its buck. It held its own against an Akira class ship in a war game for a good while before finally being "destroyed." It was a good match, one John was certainly proud of.
John entered operations, where seeing the commander in question, he walked up to an area that seemed to be teaming with cadets. After announcing his presence to the Assignment Officer, he was given a PADD with the details of his assignment. He had been assigned to the USS Olympia, a Prometheus class ship under the command of an Admiral Steven Smith.
~Hah...he has the same last name as me. I should be a smart [word deleted] and ask if we are related.~
Shaking his head from his daft thought, John returned to his locker and picked up his things.
--------------------------------------
John could always feel himself being dematerialized and rematerialized in a transporter. Perhaps it was because he had an acute knowledge of what was actually happening. It was always an amusing sensation, especially when he appeared in a new place with a smile on his face. It always shocked the transporter operator, as was the case here. He stepped off the transporter pad and was offered a padd.
"Welcome aboard. You have a senior staff meeting in the observation lounge in thirty seconds. You are to report there immediately." And with that the female transporter chief reenergized the transporter, whisking John away from the transporter room. She was certainly attractive.
~Nothing like getting "beamed" right away~
His new destination was just outside what he assumed to be the observation lounge. His belongings were no longer with him. Padd the only item left in hand, he stepped through the door to his first meeting.
~Oh she's good...~

David had spent as little time as possible on the base. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy shore leave, he just preferred it far enough away from the ship that they couldn't simply knock on his door when something needed sorting out ...
In truth, he had been kept busy with the upgrades the Olympia had received, making it a pleasant change to be able to get away and have a drink knowing he wasn't going to be needed for the rest of the day ... Entering O'Tooles, he approached the bar. Sean, the owner come manager, greeted him with his usual Irish charm, then put a bottle of ice cold beer on the bar.
"On the house Davy .. Looks like you could use it."
"Thanks Sean." David said, raising the bottle in a toast before downing almost the whole contents in one, "The first one is always the best ... Though the second one is the best too, not to mention the third ... But I'm getting ahead of myself." Tan said, laughing at his own witticism as Sean swapped the empty bottle for a full one.
"So the old gal been keeping you away then."
"You don't know the half of it ... I sometimes envy you all this mate." David said grinning.
"But you wouldn't have it any other way, and we both are knowing it aren't we now !" Sean replied, and was just about to continue when David's Comm badge chirped.
=^= Olympia to Commander Tan =^=
=^= Go ahead Olympia =^= Tan replied, taking another swig from the bottle.
=^= David it's Crystal .. The Admiral has called a meeting of Senior Staff .. Forty five minutes in the Conference Lounge =^=
=^= Typical .. The first day I get off and he decides he'd like a chat .. OK got it Crystal .. I'll be there .. Can I bring my drink it's ice cold and in need of company ? =^=
=^= Not unless you are bringing enough for us all .. Rose out =^=
The Comm closed and Sean turned back to place the newest refill back into the chiller on the back of the bar. He grinned, knowing David would be back if at all possible. He knew the man liked a good drink when time permitted, and had been in many a contest to see who could remain vertical the longest ... Sean grinned at the memory of their last 'competition' as David waved.
"Keep em cold." he said as he headed for the door.
Ten minutes later he was walking into the Conference Lounge behind a new face in the gold of Operations ... He guessed they finally had a new Chief Engineer ..........

The door to the conference room whooshed open and an ensign in gold walked in. Crystal had never seen him in person before but for once the personnel files had made it here before the actual personnel. She got to her feet and walked over to the new arrival. She offered a hand.
"Welcome to the Olympia Ensign Smith. I'm Crystal Rose the First Officer. And the person behind you is David Tan, Second Officer and Chief of Operations."

As he entered the conference lounge, he noticed the Admiral was still to arrive. Crystal had beat him to it though. 'Hardly surprising given she was already on board' he shrugged.
She stood and approached the new Officer ..
"Welcome to the Olympia Ensign Smith. I'm Crystal Rose the First Officer. The person behind you is David Tan, Second Officer and Chief of Operations."
Smith took the offered hand and shook it warmly, he turned to David and said 'Hello' then looked around the room as if self-conscious suddenly.
"Don't worry, you'll settle right in here won't he Commander ?" Tan said, aiming the last part of the comment at the XO, "So you are our new CEO, goodie ... My door is always open, proverbially of course. So if you need anything while settling in, gimme a shout. Your security codes have been logged so you should have full access ... The Olympia is a pretty new vessel, so there shouldn't be too many cob-webs down in Engineering. Mainly because our esteemed Exec' has been running a duster round ... Joke !" David finished, giving Crystal a sly grin and holding his hands up in mock submission.
< tag : (Ensign) Smith >
"Anyway, do we know what this meeting is all about, or are we in the dark again ?" Tan asked as he pointed to a seat so the new guy didn't look like he was waiting to take a meal order in a restaurant.
Given no-one spoke, he figured they were going to have to wait .. As usual ..........

Sat in his usual chair, Steve observed as the senior staff entered. First was Dr Reilly, who greeted him as she entered.
"Morning Doctor." He replied as he carried on waiting.
Crystal came in next, and also offered her greetings.
"Morning Commander, I hope all is well with you." He replied, as a way of attempting to lighten the feelings in the room.
The next person to enter was someone new. An engineer by the name of Ensign John Smith. The irony of that has not gone unnoticed on Steve. He wasn't just 'an' engineer...he was in fact the Olympia's new Chief Engineer.
Steve got out of his chair to aprroach the Ensign. "Welcome aboard the Olympia, Ensign." He said, as he shook his hand, before going back to sit in his chair.
"Ok...all we need now is Commander Tan....oh, there he is." As soon as Steve started talking, David entered the lounge and sat down.
"Right, that's everyone....lets start." He began. "Starfleet have become aprised of many rumours that have been floating about recently regarding the Maro system. Various sources have apparently either witnessed or been made aware of Federation citizens engaging in active research and development of a new type of cloaking device. Now, I don't need to tell you that this is breaching the Treaty of Algeron, so Command have tasked us to go to the Maro system and to firstly find out if R&D is actually taking place, and if it is we are to put a stop to is immediately before anything escalates. Any questions?"

John nodded at the warm welcome and shook the hands that were offered. They seemed to be nice enough, though John looked forward to learning who they truly were as time went on. The meeting started.
"Admiral," John spoke up nearly immediately. "I've studied what cloaking technology we've gotten our hands on in great detail. While most are usually impervious to general scans, cloaks typically give off some form of unique energy signature or radiation. Do we have any intel on what this might be made of?
(Admiral Smith)
"I'd be happy to divulge all I know to ops if it can be of any use."
(Smith, Tan)

" ...... made aware of Federation citizens engaging in active research and development of a new type of cloaking device. Now, I don't need to tell you that this is breaching the Treaty of Algeron, so ......" David had been listening, but those two sentences caught his attention more than the rest of the briefing, "Any questions ?"
"Sir, you said 'Federation Citizens' were conducting the research ... Why would anyone connected to the Federation want to defy treaty. What I'm saying, asking, is are we one hundred percent sure it is Federation people, or could it be someone else ?"
"You have as much information as me at this moment David." Steven said." his obvious frustration with the lack of usable intelligence showing.
"What I'm asking Sir, is given we have possible treaty infringements, then it 'IS' Federation personnel, just how far are we going to go to halt, or prevent completion of this cloaking tech' ?"
Everyone turned to the Admiral, hoping he had a reply ..........

Treaty of Algeron or no it wasn't that difficult to actually make a cloaking device. Crystal herself could probably do it in a few days. Admittedly things got a bit more complicated if you wanted the cloak to be stable over a long period of time or big enough to cover a whole starship. Still the basic science was well understood. Crystal couldn't understand why someone would bother doing research on something all ready known. Quite aside from the treaty violation, Crystal had serious problems with the idea of research being done unless they had a new take.
She raised her hand off the table in response to the Admiral's question. When he looked in her direction she spoke.
"Do the rumours say what was being investigated? I doubt it's a simple cloak it's got to be something new and different. That may give us the means to locate the work."

Steve paused for a few moments before answering his officers. Looking them squarely in the eye for a few seconds before carrying on.
"All I have been told by Command is that the information comes from a credible source. They didn't say who it was, or where the information originated from, or even how it was obtained...just that we are to investigate." The last part of that sentence said through gritted teeth. Steve knew all too well that this was probably a wild goose chase, but IF it was real, then it was something that could not be ignored whatsoever.
"As for the type of cloak, well....this is where I am dubious over this whole supposed 'project'. As far as Command have been informed, these scientists are working on a phasing cloaking device...but not just any phasing cloak..one that cannot be detected by any scans, much like what Praetor Shinzon employed on the Scimitar when it fought the Enterprise at the Battle of Bassen Rift."
Shaking his head, in a motion that seemed to convey his disbelief, Steve then got up and stood behind his chair.
"I know this all seems very far-fetched, but IF this really is being worked on, then we need to put a stop to it. Not only just because of the Treaty...it cannot be allowed to fall into enemy hands. So....there you have it. That's what we need to find."
Looking to David in particular, Steve added: "And we are to use any and all means necessary to put a stop to it."

"..... And we are to use any and all means necessary to put a stop to it." Steven emphasized, "OK, are we ready to depart ?" "We're still having the new phaser array tested on the Tertiary Section. Should be signed off within the hour but I'll go down there and push. Artificial gravity on the Secondary Section has been repaired now the hull breach has been completed ......" David said, checking his PADD, "...... The work on the upgraded Tactical, Engineering, and Science Stations on the Main Bridge were completed late last night ... Given our new Chief Engineer has only just joined the ship, I have signed off on Engineering being ready myself. Other than that I've had all Department Heads' reports, so we're free to leave once the station personnel are off the ship." "OK ......" the Admiral said, still not looking one hundred percent at ease with the scant information they had been given, "Can we be ready for twenty two hundred hours David ?" Checking the chronometer, then receiving a nod of confidence from Crystal, Tan nodded. "Ninety five minutes ... No problem Sir ... If you will excuse me I'll get down to the Tertiary Section." With a nod from the Admiral David left the meeting. ~~~~~~~~~~Forty five minutes later her tapped his Comm badge ... =^= Tan to Commander Rose =^= =^= Go ahead David =^= =^= We're done down here .. Base personnel have departed the ship .. I'm heading for the Bridge now if you could inform the Admiral we're clear to depart =^= =^= Thank you Commander .. I'll inform him now .. Steven didn't hurry jumping into warp, he requested the aft view on screen and watched the jewel of Star base forty seven fall well behind them. Seemingly satisfied, he returned the view fore then ordered Helm set course for the Maro System .......... < tag : Smith / All >~ OK All ... We're on our way ~

Well, that would cover it Crystal supposed... She was very firmly of the belief that there were very few absolutes in the universe. If it couldn't be detected that didn't mean that there was nothing to detect in the regions that were commonly detected. It actually made it easier to know where to look, that being anywhere else. Of course, in most cases the reason that that band wasn't scanned was that it was difficult to make reliable detectors for it...
She made a note to read all available reports on the Battle of Bassen Rift and to inform the science department of what they were doing.

Crystal did as she had said and prepared to watch the Oly ship out once again, a copy of all available reports about what had happened at Bassen's Rift in on the PADD that was resting on her knee.

To say that they got no intelligence on their current situation would be an understatement. Getting dismissed from the briefing was more informative than anything that had happened during the briefing, and John could even say that it wasn't Admiral Smith's fault either. John's first official briefing left much to be desired for and he made his way down to engineering, hoping to find that it was not in shambles, as he as led to believe. With any luck, there would not be much to do so he would have an opportunity to get to know the ship and everything she was. It was wishful thinking, at best, but he held his overly optimistic thought process nevertheless.
Hitting main engineering, he asked for a general report. The engineer in charge looked him up in down. "Who are you to ask for such a report?"
John raised an eyebrow. He raised a hand with one finger held up, as if to say 'just a minute'. "Computer. As soon as I stepped onboard this ship, who became the Chief Engineer."
The monotonous voice reponded. "Ensign John Smith III."
"And who am I?"
In the same monotonous voice, "Ensign John Smith III."
"Thank you computer." John looked at the officer in front of him.
The man looked bewildered and angry. "We are continuing general maintenance as prescribed by Starfleet protocol."
"An excellent description that told me nothing. Never mind, I'll find out myself."
It certainly wasn't how he had hoped to start it out, but that was that. John walked over to the main console and ordered up the general report. Sure enough, the officer had generally told him the truth. In any case, he would need to talk to the officer and sort it out.
John took the time to draw up the intelligence on every cloaking system the Federation had come in contact with. They would need everything they could muster for this and even with that, they were still likely jumping into the dark. ~What's new...~

Once clear of the system the Captain ordered a speed increase to warp six. This would get them into the Maro system in four days. They could have gone faster, but Smith was concerned about the obvious lack of intel' he had been given, and wanted the Senior Staff to do as much research as possible ... The last thing he wanted was to go in blind. David had completed signing off on the Department Head reports and had passed them over to Crystal. There was little else to do once off shift, so Tan headed for the recreation lounge ... Getting a drink he found a table against one of the panoramic windows, activated the first of his stack of padds, and started to read. On Star Base Forty Seven:The two men met in the Ferengi bar on the promenade. There was no need for secrecy, as they had been see dining together on a daily basis. "The Olympia has left for the Maro System as you predicted." the first man said. "Did you manage the task assigned to you ?" "Yes ... It is ready whenever you deem it necessary." the first replied, enjoying the salad he had ordered. The two were silent for a short time, each enjoying their meals. "Activate it now." the second man said, appreciating the gold liquid in his glass before taking a drink. The first man casually placed his fork on the side of his plate and dabbed his mouth with a napkin. He took a small tricorder-type instrument from his pocket and entered a sequence of controls. Once satisfied, he returned to his meal. Thirty minutes later both men went their separate ways, agreeing to meet the following day as usual. Tertiary Section deck 12. Sub-section 26 Alpha. Warp core & Antimatter storage:On board the Olympia. The hum of twenty fourth century technology was all that was happening in this section. The access crawl-way was never used during normal circumstances. One third of the way along the passage, a device hidden beneath the rubberized matting began to add to the dimmed lighting ... 99:58:46 99:58:45 99:58:44

With the Olympia still en route to Maro system, Steve was beginning to get restless. The more he thought about it, the less sense their mission made. They were being sent on a wild goose chase, he just knew it. But orders are orders, and Steve wasn't going to counteract them...even if he WAS a Vice Admiral.
Out of no-where, he began to get a fierce headache. 'That's what you get for thinking too much.' he thought to himself. Steve rubbed the temples of his head gently to see if it would relieve some of the pain, with only moderate success. In fact, now the rest of his body began to ache as well.
Steve stood out of his chair, and looked around. "If anyone needs me, I will be in my Ready Room." he announced, and entered the room.
As soon as the doors closed, he slumped down into the chair behind his desk, head now pounding. 'I need to get this sorted.' Steve tapped the comm button on his desk. =/\= Smith to Dr Reilly, could you come to my Ready Room please. =/\=

The request from Admiral Smith came as a surprise, Janet had always thought he was the type to shun doctors and just ignore any ill feelings. She took a deep breath as she stood up from behind her desk, she swiftly took a medical kit and made her way out into main sickbay.
“I’ll be on the bridge.” She said to no-one in particular, her staff were all too busy with their respective tasks to take much notice. She smiled slightly to herself before completely leaving sickbay.
*Ready Room*
Stepping into the ready room she looked to Smith behind the desk, she could immediately tell he was in discomfort. “What can I do for you Admiral?” She asked as she opened up her medical kit.
<Tag Smith>
She flipped open the medical tricorder and began to scan him, it only took a few moments for the readings to start showing. “I’m not surprised Admiral your blood pressure is elevated, the blood vessels behind your eyes are inflamed and causing pressure on your optical nerves thus the headache.” She put down the tricorder and reached for a hypospray she clicked a blue vial into it and then pressed it against Smiths neck.
“This will lower your blood pressure and relieve your headache, you may feel slightly light headed for a couple of minutes so I suggest you remain seated.” She put back the hypospray and again picked up the tricorder. “I’m going to stay with you for a few moments, make sure it works.”
She took a seat in the chair in front of the desk. “I’d suggest you decline the next time Tan breaks out the alcohol, the medication will increase the effect it has on you.” She took a deep breath as she looked at the tricorder. “If you don’t mind my saying Admiral this mission makes little logical sense, the Federation already has the ability to make cloaking devices the technology as I understand it is well understood, the only thing stopping us is the treaty.” She shrugged her shoulders. “Is it possible Starfleet sent us out here looking for one thing expecting us to find another? Perhaps they felt revealing that over a comm. Channel was too risky?”
She paused in though again “Although, I remember reading a thesis a couple of months ago, it was about the possibility of cloaking starbases or even entire planets, I don’t remember the whole thing but apparently the only problem was a stable power source that could power the devices.” She flipped the tricorder closed. “I don’t even remember if it was a credible journal I read it in.”

Steve tried to word his response to the doctor tactfully. "It is entirely possible we have been sent here to look for something and find something else, yes.....it is also possible that there IS nothing to begin with. All we can do is do what we have been ordered to do, and that is to look." Frustration was boiling over.
"Of course, with the Olympia was sent on this mission, I do not know. I am sure there are more vessels suited to this task out there in the fleet."
A few moments later, the comm chirped. =/\= Bridge to Admiral Smith, we have arrived in the Maro system =/\=
'Finallly' Steve though. =/\= Understood, Smith out. =/\=
He stood up and gestured towards the door. "Shall we?" He asked the doctor.

David was duty Bridge Officer as the Olympia approached the Maro System ... "Helm. Slow to impulse .... Give me a full scan of the system before we get too deep. Just the facts please." "Aye sir." the Helm Officer replied, dropping the ship out of warp then beginning the scan. Several minutes later he gave the report, "Nothing out of the ordinary Sir. Nothing on long-range sensors, not even sub-space Comm traffic Sir ..... We're on our own." "Thank you ....." David replied, hesitating for a moment at the mans report, "Increase speed to warp two and head for the most populated region of the system." he ordered, hitting the Comm link. =^= Bridge to Admiral Smith =^= =^= Smith =^= the Captain replied. =^= We've arrived in the Maro system Sir .. I have notified the Exec' =^= Tan said. =^= Understood .. Smith out =^= David frowned as the Admiral abruptly closed the Comm link, but given the Senior Staffs' frustration at the lack of information regarding this mission, David fully understood his friends frustration showing. "Sir ......" the duty Science Officer said from her station, causing Tan to turn to face her, " ...... Might be nothing, but I'm getting anomalous readings from one section." she said, frowning. "Which section ?" "Tertiary Section deck 12. Sub-section 26 Alpha. Warp core & Antimatter storage. Base techs were fitting new sensor equipment down there, so it may well just be a monitor out of sync." she finished with a shrug. "Let's play safe." David said, turning to the Chief Engineer, "Ensign ... Can you send someone down there to have a look." "I think I'll go myself Sir. May well be something and nothing, but it will give me a chance to get a look round, familiarize myself in that area of the ship." Smith said, heading for the turbo-lift. < tag : John Smith >Tan watched the stars on screen as the Olympia glided deeper into the Maro system ... It was too quiet, he decided ... In galactic terms, there was always 'something' going on. Be it a transport ship transiting the region, a research vessel from one of the Federation member councils, or simply the 'bad guy' trying to hide ... He never liked it when everything was calm, it usually meant one of two things. They had made a wasted journey and would be recalled or sent on from here directly to their next assignment ... Or worst-case ... The proverbial 'crap' was about to hit the fan ! The turbo-lift doors opened. David turned to see the Admiral, closely followed by the Doctor, enter the Bridge. Tan got up, allowing Steven to take his seat. The Exec' entered the Bridge a moment later. David went to the Ops station, the duty Officer vacating the position as he approached. David reported the situation thus far, then waited for the Admiral's orders ...... Tertiary Section deck 12. Sub-section 26 Alpha. Warp core & Antimatter storage:In the reduced lighting of the inspection crawl-way, the smallest of red glows could be seen. 'IF' you were looking for it, as the device continued it's countdown: 62:39:09 62:39:08 62:39:07 The person who had placed the device had chosen it's location and construction carefully, and with plenty of forethought, it was why he was paid very well for his 'unique' services ..... Because it was practically un-detectable by tricorder, being made of ninety nine point six percent of the same materials as the surrounding deck plating, the interior was shielded, so there would be no tell-tale 'ticking time bomb' to stumble across. Basically, unless you were looking directly down through the correct lattice gap in the deck, it was going to be invisible ! .......... < tag : All / CEO ... [No sudden 'SHS' please] ... lol >

John made his way down to engineering and gathered a few tools to take with him down to the tertiary section. He had previously seen schematics of the Prometheus class, but as it seemed to be for most ships, the pictures just didn't do the ship justice. The Olympia was definitely going to be something he could appreciate in the long run. John moved through the jeffries tubes down into the tertiary section, taking a shorter cut through the section to the desired location. As he reached the location, John thought about what was going on. With this cloaking device technology always seeming to pop up as a problem, the Federation, being non-aggressive to a certain degree, always tried to quell problems such as these before they became serious situations. John made the mental note to get to his research and notes regarding all the cloaking technology he knew about. John pulled out his engineering tricorder and took the usual scans. He found some expected energy readings, but nothing else out of the ordinary. He tapped his comm badge. "Ensign Smith to the Bridge. I've got nothing down here." =/\= "No unusual energy signatures?=/\= It was Tan. "No sir. All I have are walls a mesh footing." =/\= Understood. We'll rescan from this end. Start a couple of diagnostics on sensors and your equipment and return to the bridge.=/\= John rolled his eyes. "Yes, sir. Smith out." Obviously he would run the diagnostics. Finding a anomaly and then nothing was an instant red flag. He soon returned to the Main Engineering section and started the diagnostics. He spoke to the engineering officer on duty. "Keep an eye on these and inform me when they are done." "Yes sir." ---------------------------- John entered the bridge and immediately took the engineering station, routing some necessary engineering controls to the console. He turned to face the center and view the main viewscreen to see what would happen next. ---------------------------- Tertiary Section deck 12. Sub-section 26 Alpha. Warp core & Antimatter storage:It lay undisturbed and only brushed by. It still was unnoticed. 61:19:55 61:19:54 61:19:53 --------------------------- Maro:In the eastern hemisphere of the planet, there were two continents. On the northern continent, several heavily populated areas teaming with life stood spread out along the coastlines and amongst the plains. On the southern continent, there was nothing but a series of mountain ranges and volcanoes. On one mountain range, near the volcano known as Mijakko, cut into the mountain there was an indent in the side of the mountain. On it was a patch of grass, in plain view of the Sun of Maro rustling with the wind. The indent was fairly large, enough to hold a small starship or a building. Instead, there was nothing. Just the grass and the rock wall. And the flash of electricity ten meters above the middle of the grass....

Crystal was sitting in her office checking through the departmental reports when she received notification from Commander Tan that the Olympia had arrived in-system. She finished up reading the report and then went up to the bridge.
There was no real reason for her to be on the bridge, David was on duty and she was doing her best not to disrupt it. She went through to the observation lounge and stared out at the window She was supposed to take over in bridge duty an hour or so anyway so she might as well enjoy herself now. She could see Maro's star, it was quite technically labelled as Gamma Sellera and was a G type relatively similar to Sol. Having grown up on Luna Crystal was used to seeing darkness or a dome overhead, looking out at stars even ones as far from Sector 001 as they currently were made her feel at home.
She settled at the table and used her PADD to pull up data from the Oly's sensors. She had read all that was available on the system, which wasn't much. Live sensor feeds were so much better. She didn't have long before she had to take over from David so peace while it lasted. She was feeling better than she had done in a while.

The information on the system was coming in rapidly now ...
The main feature was the two 'G2' type stars that provided life-giving energy to the numerous planets. It was unusual to find two similar stars in a binary system, and their characteristics could cause an unknown number of variables.
"Sir. I have logged thirty seven planets in all. Twelve of which are Minshara Class."
"Just 'M' Class will do when classifying planets Helmsman." David said smiling at the young duty Navigator, "Which of those are closest to Earth normal ?"
"The fifth and sixth planets are closest Sir." she replied.
"OK .... Take us to the fifth planet and establish standard orbit. Continue long-range scans of the system. You never know ..." Tan said, tapping the Comm link on the arm rest.
=^= Bridge to Captain =^=
=^= Go ahead Commander =^= Steven said.
=^= We are approaching the fifth planet in the system Sir .. Nothing on long-range scans .. Nothing at all actually .. I've ordered standard orbit =^=
=^= Thank you David .. I'll be on the Bridge shortly .. Smith out =^=
David watched as the outer planets slipped past on screen. He was about to speak when the ship lurched violently to port. He, and the others on the Bridge were thrown from their seats. The duty Science Officer was slammed against the bulkhead, his neck snapping on impact, he was dead before he hit the deck.
Tan managed to get to his feet and threw himself into the Command seat. The Bridge was a mess. Consoles flickering, people strewn all over the deck, at least one fatality ...
"REPORT ! ...." he shouted, "What the hell happened !"
"We hit something Sir." the Helm Officer said, puzzlement mixing with the pain of her injuries as she sat down at her station, "I can't understand it. There's NOTHING out there ... We hit NOTHING !"
"Calm down Lieutenant. Scan the area again." Tan said. Glancing at the turbo-lift doors as if hoping Smith would appear.
"Sir I'm getting casualty reports from all over the ship ... Structural damage is minimal but concentrated on the Fore Starboard sections of the main hull. We have numerous fatalities. I am sending medical teams now ..... What happened ?" the duty Security Officer asked, wiping blood from a deep cut on his forehead.
"Get the Captain and Exec' up here ... NOW !" Tan ordered as he jumped out of his seat, almost passing out in the process before looking at the Helm station, "What the hell did we hit, some sort of mine ?"
"No Sir ..... It was a solid object. Whatever it was we hit it a glancing blow going off the structural damage we received, otherwise we wouldn't be here to talk about it." the Tactical Officer informed him.
Medic's came flooding onto the Bridge, one forced David into a seat and used a hypo-spray on his neck. It was then he saw his arm. It was hanging at an odd angle and blood was flowing freely to the deck. The medic ordered he remain still while they treated his injury and gave him an emergency transfusion of plasma. Despite trying to wave them off the Medic's got their way.
"Helm ... FULL STOP ... Scan every molecule of space in our immediate area. If we hit something I want to know what it was and how we hit it !" Tan began, but nausea and dizziness got the better of him and he slumped back in the chair allowing the Medic's to work ..........

Steve was leaving his Ready Room with the Doctor in tow when the Olympia rather suddenly lurched to one side. Whatever caused it must have momentarily knocked the computer and internal sensors on the ship for six because his Ready Room door didn't open as is was supposed to, and he was thrust head-first into at quite some force.
"What in the name of all that is holy was THAT?" He said, rubbing his head and standing upright. He looked to Doctor Reilly, who had managed to stay on her feet. "Come on." He added, prising open his Ready Room doors.
The view of the bridge was not a pretty sight....it was more like a warzone. People were all over the place, injuries ranging from simple cuts and bruises to the much more severe.
"Doctor, I believe your skills will be much needed here....see to it." Steve ordered as he approached his chair in the middle of the Bridge, only to find David sitting there, looking worse for wear.
"David...are you ok?" Steve asked, a look of shock on his face. "What happened?"
David then brought Steve up to speed....not that there was much he could actually tell him. There was no way the Olympia could carry on to its destination now until they can work out what they hit. There were no tellings how many other of these invisible objects could be out there.
Now was the time when a bit more expertise would be needed. =/\= Bridge to Lieutenant Smith, if you are able, please report to the Bridge asap. Your skills would be greatly appreciated. Adm Smith out.=/\=
"Wouldn't hurt to have an Engineer's opinion on how to penetrate the 'cloak' or shield that is out there." He said to David, before moving to sit in the chair to his left.
"Something tells me this ISN'T a wild goose chase like I thought." he said, to no-one in particular.

OOC: Ooops that was a bit of a delay, will have to try harder...
Crystal was quietly reading when the Olympia bucked and rolled the main lights simultaneously dying and the emergency lighting taking a very long moment to cut in. The observation lounge wasn't a first level priority in case of emergency. Crystal got to her feet, she had managed to roll as she was thrown from her seat but had then sustained a bang when she had impacted the bulkhead. She hadn't been knocked out or even stunned and she hadn't hit her head but she had had the breath knock out of her. It reminded her of her self-defense training.
She carefully approached the door back to the bridge and wasn't entirely surprised when it didn't open. She pulled the access panel off and pulled her tricorder from her pocket, you could take the girl off the science track but you couldn't take the scientist out of the girl... Emergency power hadn't properly cut in. Obviously there was some circuit damage from whatever had happened. Using a quick jolt from the life support to the room, which was indeed running properly, she convinced the door to open. Her stomach lurched as the power diversion caused a change in the artificial gravity.
The bridge was a mess. Crystal blinked through the smoke and saw David Tan on his feet in the middle of the chaos, and the Admiral and Dr Reilly emerging from the ready room on the other side of the room. She heard the update given to Steven. Collided with something? How often did that happen? Actually if she though about it who knew how often it happened if something solid was struck straight on with any speed the ship wouldn't be able to do much about it. The navigational shields were tuned to deflect dust and micrometorids, they literally couldn't 'see' larger things.
She watched as Ensign Norris was carried off the bridge. The young woman was unconscious and bleeding from a head wound. She had clearly collided with something when she had been thrown from her feet. Crystal managed to stabilise the science station and looked at the output from the sensors. It was confusing.
"Something tells me this ISN'T a wild goose chase like I thought." Steven said, to no-one in particular.
She addressed the Admiral across the bridge, giving information to everyone
"I agree, Sir. It looks like we've still got some of the sensors on line. They can't see anything with current settings. Interaction with the navigational shields and hull says there is something there."
