Allan you're free to subdue Telmak by the way... knock him out, wrestle to the ground and place in the brig etc... Bear in mind though he may or not be the hologram version of himself. The 'other' Telmak (hologram or not) is hiding in Saryn's quarters

Please all check your emails for the introduction to the JP we're writing through Google Docs, which will start the next mission off. I've come up with a novel concept you might say that I hope you'll all find to your liking Shore leave will be wound down/closed now as we begin work on our collaborative intro post(s) for Mission 7! Hi all,
We'll continue with the improvisational style to the mission as outlined in the introductory email (it's in googledrive, too - those without ability to access it should be able to see what was written in the emails that notified of updates to the JP). Let's see what we can create!

Hi all, It's great to have a reasonable number of active crew around again I'd be delighted if we could make a push for the remainder of this month to post frequently and most importantly as excitedly as possible. The guideline set up for our ship is 12 posts per month and going by site activity perhaps it would be ambitious to ask for more, though we are on 9 already and it would be excellent if we could get to say 16 posts, which would equal our effort in April. Thanks! Ghes

Hi all, Regarding simming, come on guys! Fully aware of course that it's the festive period, it would be really great if we could keep at a moderate level of posting for the majority of this month. If any one feels that we have diverged from a place in the mission (just before the staff dinner) that may have provided more opportunities for posting then please do say here or to me via PM. There were the explorations of the scout ship, and talks with Klingon ambassadors that we could've jumped straight into. Any other ideas that people would like to explore then feel free to basically write it into the mission lol, the more creativity from different angles the more it's going to enliven our mission. Thanks, Ghes

Thanks, Ghes I'm around, just haven't been feeling well the past weeks. Seeing a specialist now regarding it and should be back to reasonably normal soon. (This also goes for El-Salvador and Olympia) I'm in a lot of pain which makes it hard to concentrate (or even sleep decently) Add to that a very lively almost 3yr old testing my patience...and you have a reasonably exhausted mom.

It might be useful to clarify some bits of the plot as I have a feeling it may have become slightly confusing, for me as well truth be told.
The warning buoy we've passed contained a message recorded by the Captain of the Crazy Horse (one of two vessels whose exploration of the Galactic Barrier and the crews' subsequent loss of memories and sanity we're investigating), informing us of a signal emanating from the planet (that we are about to beam down to) which is what's responsible for dragging the Enzio against its will towards the Galactic Barrier. The planet is just inside the Barrier.
The technology of the small settlement - maybe just one house, we'll see - on the planet is of the same origin as the metals that we found in the asteroid field near where we exited the warp highway that took us here from the Federation. Those metals interacting together created a recording device of some type, though we don't know how else it operates or on what.
Presumably, we may find, it operated on us? Perhaps having scanned our minds and then known what visions/memories to give us? It might be that both we and our characters already suspect this. On the planet I expect us to get closer to unravelling the mystery of who has caused us to have the visions, and how it connects with the insanity of the Oberth cruisers' crews.
Hopefully this helps, I know it's helped me! lol
I'll see if I can create something with us beaming down to the planet. All leeway is available for creating what the world looks like, atmosphere, geology, etc.

They are physically interacting with the particles in the air, creating both wind and sharp sound. They are absorbing around 64% of ambient light with minimal reflection, and transparent to the rest. Should you need it, I would think they would react similarly to phased energy." The dark beings moved slowly through the air, around them. The wind picked up speed and dropped, and then sped the other way, and stilled. I was just wondering with this bit, will their reaction to phased energy (absorption over reflection) mean they would nullify a beam weapon, or in absorbing the energy is it doing damage?

It could be either. Where does the energy go? Will it cause damage, or will it just heat them up very quickly? A fire brick will absorb heat directed at it, and withstand rapid changes in temperature, where other materials will absorb that heat and shatter. Which are they? Would we detect it either way? Do we want to risk it? Or will they de-sync their phase as the beam hits and allow it to pass through them. Is the effect they are having on the light and the wind their only interaction with the physical environment, or can they do more, and if they can, do we want to stick around to find out what that is? Are they friendly, can they communicate with us, or as the man said, do they mean us ill? So many questions!

Hey, I've posted and have gone with something of a combination of effects from a phaser blast, plus another consequence which could prove interesting. Any questions on where it's possibly going next please do ask

For consistency, I've looked back through the posts to see where some of the characters now are.
Landed on the planet -acting CMO -quartermaster V'Ren -Commander Daya -Admiral Gheskori -lieutenant Marin -Commander V'Maz -commander Tiana Galwyn Cat -Security NCO -Security NCO -Security NCO -Ensign Clark
Returned to Enzio -Commander Tiana Galwyn Cat -Admiral Gheskori -Ensign Clark -(edit)Commander Daya(/edit)
Vanished by Malakai/Alien beings -(edit) Commander V'Maz (/edit) -Acting CMO -Quartermaster V'Ren -Lieutenant Marin -Security NCO -Security NCO -Security NCO

Ah yes I forgot about Marin. Considering he was the acting CEO that works very nicely; his disappearance (eventually to reemerge in Federation space, like with the Oberth crews, and also in need of counseling etc.) can aptly be taken care of with his replacement by you Simon.
The list is very good for clarification! One change I'll suggest, we'll have V'Maz as having disappeared (with the assumption he stayed on the planet when Ghes beamed back down), and instead Daya having not disappeared and having returned to the ship around the same time as Tiana.

(Mission 8: on leaving the galactic barrier.) The isochip contents, and my thoughts.
I had anticipated that it contained some important information relating to the activities of the crews of Sydney and Crazy Horse in the federation in the four hours since the Enzio left starbase 47. Something must have happened, something important, for Admiral Drew to have entrusted the information to an Ensign he only barely knew, even if only as a courier. What could have happened in that four hours? What could they have done?
The chip also contains the full file for Simon Clark, including his medical records, which were manifest in semitransparency on the surface of the planet as jungle, which a captain would need for a new crewmember, particularly one who has experienced memory loss.
The chip also contains, according to Malakai "instructions for 'doing something faster' which related to crews of the two Oberth class Federation starships, also allowing that same something to be transmitted to Earth." Will this be science discovered in a study of the remaining crew members of the Oberth vessels, something to do with the rate at which the insanity is progressing, how the rate may be increased or slowed? Is it orders from starfleet to find the solution faster? Or something else?
Did what we do with the Tachyons have any effect on what's happening back on Earth? If the debris field is a device, did we disrupt it's transmission to earth as well as the local transmissions to ourselves and our ship?
+++
I've put a few posts in, I would appreciate any feedback on the style in which I am writing/tagging/plotting. I'm trying not to put too many words into the mouths of other player characters, though I'm not sure what the etiquette of this is.

In my new post, the incredibly detailed paraphrase Ghes has made of Malakai's words were actually something I'd originally written in my previous post lol. I hesitated over including them and finally didn't, as I wasn't sure if you had alternate plans for the isochip contents, Simon. Now what you've said seems to fit quite well with what I originally wrote, so it's included in the new post.
So what the Crazy Horse and Sydney reported in the moments before they fell out of contact pertained to what the beings - using the debris field - had been doing to the Oberth crews and trying to do to people on Earth (maybe after they figured out the two ships' origin?). Drew presumably then detected this and gave the information to Clark in the form of the isochip when he was transported out there?
I've got us going back to Earth now, to try to take care of the situation with the mad crews, but it might not be easy (see my post).
Your posting style and mission plotting is excellent, Simon. It's been a breath of fresh air. And don't worry about writing words for other chars.

Hi all, The new shared thread will be opened on 1st March (see announcement), giving us just over a couple days to finish. As this probably isn't feasible, I propose we run the conclusion of our mission here on the Enzio board (shouldn't take any more than a week, at most), while simultaneously getting involved with the Starbase 47 thread. I think we'll act as if in two timeframes, so that the ending of our current mission will be seen to have happened before the Starbase's dislocation, and that the new mission on the Starbase will thus be happening in our future (at which time the Enzio will already be docked at the base, when the nebula explosion occurs). As soon as you see the new thread on the Starbase go up you can start writing there. Regarding current mission, I'll write a post that will finish getting us back to Earth where we can set about dealing with the effects of the recording device's transmissions: dealing with death cult members, deciphering more of Clark's isochip, perhaps discerning exactly how the recording device was able to begin doing this to people on Earth and thus finding a way to put a stop to it. Ghes

Hi everyone, let's finish this up ultra-quickly now, ideally within a week (7 March); we'll be moving from tomorrow - at earliest - to Starbase 47 to join in the collective thread with the other ship crews - exciting times ahead! We'll keep going with the end of this mission but if we finish quickly we can devote all our creative energies to the endeavour with our fleet colleagues! Please see my recent post and respond as soon as convenient/possible.Cheers, Ghes

Hi all, we are virtually done with this assignment now. Perhaps just a few more concluding posts, I hadn't wanted to wrap things up so decisively as it seems I have done, therefore if there are some things people still want to explore, we'll keep it going a bit longer while, also and importantly, getting started on the Starbase 47 thread.I've become quite excited about this new Starbase mission since posting on it the other day, and have tagged you all - hopefully you'll see great potential for it, too. The few posts there have been so far are long(ish) but informative, rewarding and hopefully mind-expanding.
