Gypsy: Sir, incoming transmission for you from Assailant.
Walker: Patch it through to my ready room.
(Walker turned on his view screen and Magellan appeared on screen)
Magellan: Greetings Captain, glad to see your settling in.
Walker: She is a good ship.
Magellan: Indeed she is. I wish I was contacting you on more pleasent terms.
Walker: You have an assignment for me I trust?
Magellan: Exactly.. I'm afraid that we have lost contact with a medical cargo freighter that was traveling to a Federation planet on the Neutral Zone border. The last we heard from them them they were very close to their destination but then the transmission got scrambled. Now it could be nothing but we shouldn't take any risks that there could be an enemy ship in the area. Now I want you to proceed to Parlo II on the same route that the freighter took. I will transmit you the route and I want you to take scans on the way to see if you can find any traces of the ship just incase. Be prepared though, the Romulans could be trying to expand their territory. A disease is spreading on Parlo II and those supplies are needed. Do what you can Captain.
Walker: Aye sir.
Magellan: Magellan out.
(The screen went black. Walker exited his ready room and exited to the bridge where he sat in the center seat. He sat for a minute looking at the new faces on the bridge)
Walker: Gypsy please contact the Starbase and alert them that we will be departing.
Gypsy: Aye sir..
(A few seconds later)
Gypsy: Sir the starbase has granted us permission to depart.
Walker: Mr. Fredmo take us out.
Fredmo: Aye sir.
(The Victory exited the spacedock doors at thruster speed)
(A few minutes later)
Gyspy: Sir we have cleared the base.
Walker: Set a course for Parlo II and take sensor readings on the way.
Lasooux: Aye sir.
Fredmo: Course set sir.
Walker: Engage.

Linnis Dropped her duffle bag in front of the CMO Dr Jones and took a deep breath "Dr I am reporting in"
"HMM? Oh Uh I take it you the new Lab tech" Jones said
"Uh huh" Linnis nodded "I tried to report in to Captain Walker but he was too busy"
Jones nodded and handed her a stack of PADDS "Here you can sort these out in the mean time"
She took the stack and headed into the office and she bumped straight into Megellan "Gah"
She looked up she heard of the man he served with her father for years before getting promoted "Holy.....I don't belive it, you look like your father...I haven't seen you since you where like .." he held his hand just below his waist to show how small she was
"Uhhh we've met?" Linnis looked at him strangly, her last encounter with a trill ended up in an emotional disaster Lt Strife Cavit, she was romatically involved with her untill Linnis killed the engineer on the Excalibur she didn't even recall it.
"You where little" Megellan said
"Ah" Linnis only nodded still a little nervous mainly because he was standing too close to her.
"Well I must be off good luck to you and you assignment" Megellan smiled and ruffled her hair, her fisrt insticnt was to kick him, people did that to her when she was little and it annoyed to crap out of her as she recalled she canned the Captain Locutis letting out a sigh she whent about sorting out the PADDS

Gypsy started running his normal security scans of the ship and checks of the tactical systems. Everything was running at 100%. He knew it probably wouldn't be that way for long. Not if they were going to battle so he enjoyed the moment while he could.
He'd set his staff running security drills and boarding/boarder repelling drills so there was nothing left for him to do but scan for signs of the freighter/enemy ships and run some tactical drills himself.

Spedmo saw everyone was very busy with the departures of other members Spedmo sat at his station. His relaxation was shortlived as soon as Captain Walker left his ready room and started giving orders. "Set a course for Parlo II and take sensor readings on the way," he said as he sta in his chair. Spedmo quickly input the cooridnates and plotted the speed. "Course set sir," he said as soon as he was finished. "Engage and welcome aboard," Walker said with a smile.

(On the way to Parlo II Walker advised the bridge crew of the situation)
(The Victory sliced through space at warp speed in search of the cargo ship. Walker hoped for the best but had to assume the worst)
Walker: Gypsy please put us to yellow alert.
(Gypsy nodded)
Computer: All Stations Yellow Alert. All Stations Yellow Alert.
(The lights on the bridge flashed yellow)
Fredmo: Sir we have arrived.
Lassooux: Sir I've found the ship..
(The cargo ship appeared on the view screen. The ship looked pretty beat up and appeared to be drifting)
Walker: Put a tractor beam on it.
Gypsy: Yes sir.
(A blue tractor beam caught the ship and held it still)
Lassooux: Sir the majority of the damage appears to be on the bridge.
Gypsy: That is where the majority of the crew is on the ship. According to the records only 5 crewmembers occupied the ship. All of their positions would mainly be performed on the bridge by my guess.
Walker: Hmm.. Mr. Lassooux are you picking up any ships in the area.
Lassooux: No sir..
Walker: Keep a close watch on that Lassooux. If these are Romulans they are most likely cloaked assuming that they're even still in the area.
Gypsy: Sir you are receiving a hail from Admiral Magellan.
(Walker got up from his chair)
Walker: To my ready room please Lieutenant.
(Gypsy nodded and tapped a few buttons on his console)
(Walker entered his ready room and sat at his desk. What was becoming a regular routine as a CO he put his mini viewscreen on)
Walker: Ah.. Admiral this is becoming a habit..
(Walker grinned)
Magellan: How has your progress been?
(Walker went over what they have found so far)
Magellan: Hmm.. I see. Well Captain I have come across some information that may be helpful to you.. Parlo II used to be inhabited by the Romulans. For some unknown reason the Federation didn't discover that they were living there until about a year ago. There were some resources they used to mine on the planet that they supposedly would sell. And the reason all of this medical equiptment is being sent to Parlo II is because a disease has broken out on the planet killing hundreds of Federation citizens so far and it may claim the lives of more if this andidote isn't delivered in due time.
Walker: That would certainly explain a lot Admiral..
Magellan: Thought it may be helpful.
Walker: Thank you Admiral.
Magellan: Keep me posted. Magellan out.
(The view screen flashed to black. Walker sat for a few minutes at his desk thinking. He then proceeded to the bridge and called for a meeting in the conference room to discuss the situation with his senior staff)

Everyone trooped into the meeting room and sat down.
<walker> "We've found the freighter and it has a damaged bridge so when we catch it the first orders of business are to deliver the antidote and rescue the crew. We also have the risk of Romulans lurking about".
<Gypsy> "If I remember rightly sir didn't the enterprise use some sort of detection grid? Couldn't we fit out some probes to emit the beams used and remote control them to form a net?"
<Matheson> "A tachyon detection grid. It's possible my team can fit the probes out and they can be controlled from the helm or tactical. It won't work as well as when the enterprise tried it but it will give us more of an edge than we have now."
<Gypsy> "As for the rescue mission, unless I'm needed here I'd like to be included on the away team if we send one Sir."
{OOC} I've used our NPC engineer as I can't find another engineer listed on our rosters. If we do have one let me know and I'll edit my post.

Jones put his padd on the table.
"Captain, I have a strategy in place for delivery of the antidote, which will provide us with the fastest delivery and damage control. Unfortunately some areas are no-go’s and the people will have to be left as they are to far gone and to waste resources on these would mean other groups would die.”
Jones felt the room around him become hostile faces changed and people sighed.
“But with a coordinated strike will kill the disease on this planet. And as for the ship I am prepped to go over to rescue any injured crew so I also request permission to go on the away mission, which will leave kapoor to take the planet coordination while I am gone."

Walker looked around at everyone so he could study the looks on their faces for a second, try and get an idea of what they were all thinking about then said "Gypsy. I want you to work with engineering to fit out the probes and get them running. I'm going to want you to be on the team if we have to send anyone across to the freighter so make sure you're done with the probes by the time we get to the edges of the system."
Gypsy nodded and said "Aye Sir."
Walker then said "Jimmy. I want you to work on a way of getting the antidote to everyone. I know they say the good of the many outweighs the good of the few but we have to save as many of the planets population as possible. Preferably all of them."
Gypsy then said, "Captain, if I may?"
Walker nodded.
Gypsy went on, "Starfleet as many of you will know has no sure way of detecting a cloaked romulan warbird. Even our alliances with the Klingons and the Romulans in the past have never been open enough for too much information to be shared. If our plan doesn't work we have to be prepared for a firefight. I'm going to give my security team orders that as soon as the first warbird decloaks phasers are to be issued to all personnel in case of boarding. We don't know how many are out there if at all but we need to be prepared."

Jones looked at the CO.
"Sir i looked into it and i am afraid people wioll have to die, you can pick whcih ones but i have tried to save the largest amount. I will either need to train all the crew in medicene or need a few more starships. Dr kappoor and I have wheiged up all the options and reported back."
Jones felt the room turn to ice.
"You will have to understand this is basic triage and i cant do more than my numbers allow and my training dictates i should save the most people."

The captain said "If thats what you have to do, then thats what you have to do. Save as many as you can Dr." He then looked over at Matheson and said "I want you to get those probes up and running. Once they're active work with Mr Fredmo to get a remote link running from the helm control."
With that he stood up and said " Dismissed everyone. Keep me informed."
The crew filed out of the briefing room to return to their duties and Gypsy went back to the tactical console and continued his system checks and scans.
Captain walker went to his ready room leaving the XO in command of the bridge.

Walker: When it comes time to transport to the planet.. Don't forget that disease is contagous. Be sure to suit up.
(Gypsy and Jones nodded)
Walker: Commander Sokath you have the bridge.
(Sokath nodded and exited the conference room with the senior staff as Walker departed to his ready room. Once he got there he skimmed over some padds and gathered as much information about this mission as he could)
Sokath: =^=Captain we have just detected a glitch in our sensors.=^=
Walker: =^=A glitch? =^=
Sokath: =^= Yes sir, it could just be a problem with our sensors or it could be a ship hiding. =^=
Walker: =^= Lets hope it was a glitch but be on the lookout. =^=
Sokath: =^= Aye sir, Sokath out =^=
(Sokath sat back in his chair and just as he looked up he saw a Romulan Warbird decloaking to forward. Before the Victory could react the Warbird fired disruptors and torpedos at the Victory. The ship rocked furiously as the weapons fire beat the ship)
Sokath: Red Alert, fire weapons.
(Walker ran out to the bridge trying not to fall with the ship rocking)
*Puzzled*
Gypsy: *Puzzled* Sir the warbird is cloaking...
(The bridge crew was in shock)
Walker: How did they manage to decloak and cloak so quickly without us detecting it..
(No one had any answer)
Walker: Commander Sokath please look into this with Gypsy.
(Sokath nodded)
Walker: Damage Report?
Fredmo: One of our warp nacelles is heavily damaged and a couple of phaser banks are fryed.
Walker: Damn..
(The extinguishers sprayed on the bridge)
Walker: *Angry* Next time they decloak I want to see torpedos on route to their ship!
(Walker sat in his center seat)

Jones rubbed the dermal regenratior over the crewmans face.
"Next time be careful when you are looking at phaser banks." Jones mused
"Yes sir" The engineer said stiffly.
Jones smiled at the formality, people were like that with klingon officers.
Jones threw the demal regenerator onto the trolley.
"Nurse get Majeski to fix that. Sorry friend but you are gonna have a bruise if it bothers you come back and hopefully have the thing fixed."
Jones turned to a console. while the attck had serious injurys a few minor scratches here and there had slowed the landing process as he a Kapoor patched people up.
=^= Jones to nurse Lorenzo, are you all suited up, and all the kit prepared.=^=
=^= Yes sir we are ready for the off=^=
Jones grabbed his pack from his desk with his weapons and medi kit. this was going to be a messy job and civilians were going to die whci his isnt easy to deal with or for moral.
"Kapoor prepare sickbay for any extreme casualites we might have to send up. Level 5 quarentine. Mkae it six kappa, better safe than sorry."
=^= Jones to the captain, All medical teams are ready and waiting.=^=

The bridge was still teaming with life. The attack by the Romulans had caused some major structural damage to the little Nebula class that was the Victory, she was by no means a ship that should be going nose to nose with a Romulan vessel of any kind. What was more disturbing was the way the Romulan vessel had just appeared, fired and disappeared in such a short space of time.
After ensuring the engineering teams had repairs under control Sokath and Gypsy set to work attempting to devise a way to detect the Romulans. This was not going to be easy. The ship had already taken all of the standard precautions when dealing with Romulans and still the sensors had seen nothing until it was too late.
After a small amount of analysis Gypsy and Sokath had both agreed that the ability to decloak, fire and re-cloak was a massive drain on the ships power systems. The sensors had seen that throughout the whole attack the Romulans made no attempt to raise their shields.
=^= Captain Walker, we have been able to determine that the Romulan vessel has very little in the way of defensive capabilities other than its cloaking system. It will be possible to cause a large amount of damage should they decloak long enough for the targeting systems to acquire a lock =^=
=^= Excellent work, but I need to know for sure that we can disable them if they attack again =^=
=^= it should be… =^= The communication link was cut as the Romulans appeared on the tactical display again, and the wasted no time in striking the ship again. Two large plasma weapons tore holes in the ill prepared Nebula. Once again the Victories weapons arrays powered up but failed to hit anything other space dust.
The first few shots from the Romulan had damaged the communications array. The away team was all alone on the planets surface and the Victory would be easy pickings for the Romulans should they attack again.

Ooc: ok…I know that your just trying to show that you are still active and involved in the mission but could people please refrain from using one line posts a)they do very little to develop the story b) they make the ships boards look tacky . I’m sure we’d all rather wait for you to have the time to write a post that reflects your simming ability, rather than one that insults it.
I do apologise if Captain walker disagrees with this statement but I feel something needed to be said.
I also meant no offence to any of the crew, in fact I owe you all an apology for my lack of simming but now I’ve finally got some spare time I should be able to keep up with you guys and girls.

Off: For the most part I'd have to agree with you Commander. There is usually a way to make a one-liner longer than it is.. For example you could say something like "When Fredmo was repairing his station firepower pounded the ship shaking the bridge.
The extra details can make for a better looking post.

Linnis finnished repairing a bio bed and growled, she was supposed to set up and inspect equipment, not repair it. Practically ramming the demal regenerator in it's case she let out a small growl then a hand came down on her arm
"Hey calm down" It was nurse Erica Lenzes Linnish flushed at the sight of her
"sorry' Linnis looked down
"Hey if you want to stuff that somewhere just make sure you aren't near the Doc, I don't think a vulcan could take a Klingon" Erica said
Linnis only rose and eyebrow "I'm not vulcan, I'm elven, and I don't see how species would make a diffrence"
"Oh"

Gypsy and Sokath were still working on the Cloaking device problem. Not having come up with much they decided to look at things a different way.
<Gypsy> "We know when they decloak they have a big power drain. We know they use an artificial Quantum singularity."
<Sokath> So what does that add up to in the way of detection? This is the problem."
<Gypsy> "There has to be something we can detect before they decloak or as they're decloaking."
Sokath suddenly looked up from the display they were looking at.
<Sokath> "If they are draining power from so many systems to feed the cloak then there has to be a detectable power spike to the cloak when it builds up to maximum power. All we have to do is keep an eye out for the power spike."
<Gypsy> It'll only be for a split second I'd imagine right before they decloak but it might be possible. If I can link my sensors to my fire control systems it's possible I can link an alarm that will automatically fire a spread of torpedos to the spot the spike is coming from."
<Sokath> "Get on it. I'll keep looking at the problem to see if I can come up with anything else."
Gypsy said "Aye Sir" and went back to his console to rig up the alarm between his sensors and torpedo firing control.
As he was leaving Gypsy saw Sokath tap his comm badge.
<Sokath> =^= "Cmdr Sokath to Captain Walker"
<Walker> =^= "Go ahead"
<Sokath> =^= "We may have found a way to detect the Romulans Sir."
Sokath went on to explain his idea to the Captain.
<Walker> =^= "Well done Cmdr. Walker out."
When he'd done Sokath went back to looking over the display.
10 minutes later Gypsy called over "Sir, I've got the modifications finished. Want to take a look at them?"

Rising from the captains chair Sokath walked over to Gypsy’s post. After taking a few minutes to look over the modifications made by the young lieutenant Sokath turned and congratulated him on a job well done.
“this is excellent work lieutenant, the next time the Romulans decloak we should be able to score a hit.” Returning to the captains chair Sokath reached for his comm. Badge.
=^= this is commander Sokath, what it the status of the communications array chief? I need to talk to the captain as soon as possible =^=
=^= I’m working on it sir =^= came the reply from engineering
=^= Very well, keep me informed, Sokath out =^=
